- 2:16Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 2:17Speaker 1: So before we launch into our riveting recap, Beatrice, I
- 2:20Speaker 1: do have to ask you whether you have any takeaways.
- 2:22Speaker 2: My takeaway is that this episode nearly bored me to death.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Honey.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I was in a liminal state between this reality and
- 2:29Speaker 2: what lies beyond. And the only thing that brought me
- 2:32Speaker 2: back was Robin's water breaking and exploding all over her
- 2:37Speaker 2: midwife and her marital bed because she chose to give birth.
- 2:41Speaker 2: In the same bed. I heard Cody fuck it.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I know. And Solomon sleeps in it.
- 2:45Speaker 2: And Solomon sleeps in it.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I know. It was such an awkward moment. I mean,
- 2:52Speaker 1: bodily things happen. But that water just exploded forth with
- 2:58Speaker 1: such a divine vehemence. Spraying. Is her name Amber the midwife? April.
- 3:04Speaker 1: April the midwife. Yeah. Right in her red haired face.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I know. And her bosom. her titties all wet from
- 3:13Speaker 1: robin's water that was wild.
- 3:15Speaker 2: That was nasty it was real and i'm not trying to.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Like no i mean this was what happened i guess
- 3:21Speaker 1: i don't remember that happening with.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Me well you were you had an epidural Oh, well,
- 3:26Speaker 2: it didn't take. Oh, that's right.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I didn't have an epidural. I didn't have drugs, but
- 3:29Speaker 1: I think I was induced. I think they had to
- 3:30Speaker 1: go in and like break my water.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Break your water for you. So it didn't happen that way.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It certainly did. Some projectile bag of water coming right
- 3:39Speaker 1: out of my cooter and hitting the nurse, slapping her
- 3:41Speaker 1: right in the face. On national TV.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I know.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Wouldn't you edit that out? Yes. Wild. My takeaway was, oh, God, Paul,
- 3:48Speaker 1: the stepdaddy. Oh, I know. It's not just in the
- 3:51Speaker 1: room again to see up close and personal another birth, but, like,
- 3:56Speaker 1: his chair is right at the end of the bed
- 4:00Speaker 1: facing full on her punaner.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Her open cooter. And then her mom just taking photo
- 4:07Speaker 2: after photo of her coochie.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Of her vagina. I know. With that old man just
- 4:13Speaker 1: staring right past her. Up her birth canal.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I couldn't believe it.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Is this not strange for anybody else? It seems so
- 4:20Speaker 1: weird to me. It's fucking bizarre, dude. We need to
- 4:25Speaker 1: do a little... He's passed right now.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:27Speaker 1: And maybe he's a great guy. I don't know. But like,
- 4:29Speaker 1: it's just giving... It's giving weird. This is Googling predators.
- 4:33Speaker 1: This is what I'm doing right now. I'm Googling predators.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I'm checking the registry right here because that's just strange.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Someone call Chris Anson.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Thank you. That was my takeaway.
- 4:42Speaker 2: All right.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Well, without... Any further ado, let's get into the recap
- 4:47Speaker 1: of Sister Wives Season 10, Episode 6.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Baby sister is born.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Oh, yay. Oh, my God. Oh, God, yay.
- 4:59Speaker 2: The entire episode basically surrounds Robin about to give birth
- 5:03Speaker 2: to baby Ariella, and then, like, the last half of
- 5:05Speaker 2: it is literally her giving birth.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Is there anything else we need to say to these
- 5:09Speaker 1: beautiful records before we get up on out of here, Beatrice?
- 5:12Speaker 1: Because that was the whole... And here's what I want
- 5:15Speaker 1: to say. Like, throughout this episode and a little bit
- 5:18Speaker 1: of last episode, you've got Cody and Robin telegraphing in
- 5:23Speaker 1: their interstitials that she's got some sort of Mormon intuition
- 5:27Speaker 1: about this delivery. Like, something's different. Something's wrong. I don't
- 5:30Speaker 1: know what it is. I think she may be coming
- 5:32Speaker 1: early and getting the Braxton Hex. I've got the Braxton Hex.
- 5:37Speaker 1: It doesn't feel safe. And so we've been hearing this,
- 5:40Speaker 1: but it's always in a talking head. It's not in
- 5:43Speaker 1: the natural flow of the timeline. I feel like they're
- 5:46Speaker 1: orchestrating the appearance of this is a dangerous, unsafe birth.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 5:53Speaker 1: When in reality, it was just kind of your regular,
- 5:55Speaker 1: degular home birth.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Like the whole episode, I'm watching it and I'm thinking...
- 6:00Speaker 2: Y'all are being a little dramatic.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Because we saw a preview last week about how Robin
- 6:06Speaker 2: was saying her midwife may have to resuscitate her baby.
- 6:10Speaker 2: And then that literally didn't happen at all.
- 6:12Speaker 1: No.
- 6:13Speaker 2: And the baby was completely fine, healthy.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I mean, she had a broken clavicle. Yeah.
- 6:19Speaker 2: But my mom had that. That's common.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I don't know anything about it.
- 6:22Speaker 2: It's just big shoulders.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Scary to me, but okay.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Well, April said it would heal itself. So I'm like, okay.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I mean, I get it. Like, broken clavicle, yeah, that's
- 6:30Speaker 2: a little nerve-wracking or whatever. And, like, we got to
- 6:33Speaker 2: talk about Robin's intuition the whole episode. Her intuition is strong.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I guess so. Got to trust your intuition.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Shut up.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I was just so done with that. I was so
- 6:42Speaker 1: over it.
- 6:42Speaker 2: God.
- 6:42Speaker 1: God.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Some of the only interesting things about it were Cody
- 6:46Speaker 2: at the beginning of the episode talking about how this
- 6:49Speaker 2: pregnancy with Robin was different than her last one with
- 6:52Speaker 2: Saul because him and her were like emotionally disconnected because
- 6:56Speaker 2: Robin was like fighting with him more and more aggressive
- 6:59Speaker 2: and agitated and stuff. And I kind of enjoyed that.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I enjoy thinking about Robin being mad at Cody, but
- 7:05Speaker 2: that was it.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah, but then they had to take us through the
- 7:09Speaker 1: litany of flashbacks from various other seasons, you know, where
- 7:14Speaker 1: they're getting along great. And then last season when it's
- 7:17Speaker 1: the regatta and Robin is getting upset at Cody and
- 7:21Speaker 1: there's little incidences of them fighting. I'm like, we've already,
- 7:24Speaker 1: we literally saw that in the last episode. We've seen
- 7:27Speaker 1: this already. I hate flashbacks.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Me too.
- 7:29Speaker 1: They are such filler content. And a lot of this
- 7:31Speaker 1: was flashbacks because I think we start By talking about
- 7:34Speaker 1: every single child that was born into this family.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Again, again, again.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Because at that stupid family celebration, commitment ceremony or whatever
- 7:42Speaker 1: that was, we had to go through each child then.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Each child had their own slideshow. We had to sit
- 7:47Speaker 1: through that shit. We've also read the books. We know
- 7:50Speaker 1: the story. We know the lore. And here we go
- 7:52Speaker 1: again with these damn kids. Again.
- 7:55Speaker 2: And it was like the first 30 minutes of the
- 7:57Speaker 2: episode is just talking about how each kid was born.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And then Robin pans over to Mary and is like, Mary,
- 8:02Speaker 2: are you okay with this conversation?
- 8:04Speaker 1: That was a little wild to me. Are you okay?
- 8:06Speaker 2: Because you're infertile and you only got to have one kid.
- 8:09Speaker 1: It's always Robin who calls it out and she does
- 8:13Speaker 1: it under the guise of checking on Mary because I'm
- 8:15Speaker 1: the only one here who actually loves you. I'm an empath. Like,
- 8:18Speaker 1: are you okay as we sit here and talk about
- 8:21Speaker 1: all of the many babies that we have birthed in
- 8:23Speaker 1: this huge family that we have provided for Cody, whereas
- 8:26Speaker 1: you just provided one child?
- 8:28Speaker 2: Are you all right?
- 8:29Speaker 1: And I'm like wondering if Mary was even thinking that.
- 8:32Speaker 1: She might have been. She probably was a little, but
- 8:34Speaker 1: I hadn't picked up on it at that point. No,
- 8:37Speaker 1: it seemed like it was fine. Only when Robin brought
- 8:38Speaker 1: it up and checked on Mary. Are you okay? Are
- 8:41Speaker 1: you okay?
- 8:41Speaker 2: Are you okay? Do you feel included in this conversation
- 8:44Speaker 2: because you're infertile and everyone else had a million babies?
- 8:47Speaker 1: And then Mary starts crying a little bit. I don't
- 8:50Speaker 1: really know how I feel about all of this. I'm
- 8:53Speaker 1: just like, gosh, that's mean. Yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 2: And also I'm kind of annoyed with Mary always saying
- 8:57Speaker 2: that too. Like every time she cries, she's like, I'm
- 8:59Speaker 2: a little surprised by my emotions. Maybe go to therapy.
- 9:02Speaker 1: You have emotions, Mary. I know. Is it a shock?
- 9:05Speaker 1: But then we had to have flashbacks of her fertility
- 9:07Speaker 1: journey that went all the way back to season one.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And the conversation up on the rock formation where Cody's like,
- 9:15Speaker 1: I'm out.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I'm done.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I'm done touching your booty. We do not need to
- 9:18Speaker 1: revisit all of this. footage truly production I'm.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Just so bored about it it's just and like all
- 9:25Speaker 2: of it is just leading up to Robin having this
- 9:27Speaker 2: baby and how it's Cody's 18th child and I'm just
- 9:31Speaker 2: like okay I don't care and then we like shift
- 9:36Speaker 2: gears entirely we go uh to Maddie who's getting her
- 9:40Speaker 2: wedding dress fitted and that was like fine I guess
- 9:43Speaker 2: but it was just like five minutes in the episode
- 9:46Speaker 2: of Janelle's mom crying over it and Oh, my God,
- 9:50Speaker 2: our little girl's growing up. She's getting married. And then
- 9:53Speaker 2: back to Robin. Right.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Right.
- 9:55Speaker 2: And actually, we go back to Robin and Christine where
- 9:59Speaker 2: they are decorating. Aspen's room at Robin's house because Aspen
- 10:04Speaker 2: is like the president of the Greek society at UNLV.
- 10:09Speaker 2: And so they're going to decorate her room with like
- 10:11Speaker 2: UNLV colors and stuff. And we have this like weird
- 10:14Speaker 2: segment with Christine and Robin where they're talking about like
- 10:17Speaker 2: building trust. with each other. And we talk about sister
- 10:21Speaker 2: wife relationships and I don't know.
- 10:25Speaker 1: We do have Christine acknowledging again that it was a
- 10:28Speaker 1: little hurtful when Aspen chose to actually live with Robin
- 10:33Speaker 1: when she left the apartment that she was sharing with
- 10:35Speaker 1: McKelty because Christine was hoping that Aspen would move in
- 10:39Speaker 1: with her. But Aspen's like, I'm not going to parent
- 10:41Speaker 1: the rest of your children for the rest of my life. No,
- 10:44Speaker 1: I'm going to go over to Robin's. Apparently that situation
- 10:47Speaker 1: has been going really well. Aspen and Robin are getting
- 10:51Speaker 1: on great. And apparently Aspen goes to Robin with a
- 10:55Speaker 1: lot of her life issues and then goes to Christine.
- 10:59Speaker 1: And Christine learns after the fact that she's second to here.
- 11:02Speaker 1: And yes, that's also hurtful. But you know what? It's
- 11:04Speaker 1: really great. It's actually really a perk of this wonderful
- 11:08Speaker 1: family organizational structure called polygamy, you know, because all of
- 11:11Speaker 1: the wives are parents. And I really do believe that
- 11:14Speaker 1: it doesn't hurt at all.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, and Christine also talks about how she did
- 11:18Speaker 2: that when she was a teenager, too. So I'm like, OK,
- 11:20Speaker 2: Apple doesn't fall far from the tree, I guess.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Right. But I was wondering if it's because her mom
- 11:26Speaker 1: actually left the whole family. And so she had to
- 11:29Speaker 1: live with the one remaining mom that she had. I
- 11:32Speaker 1: don't know. It doesn't it doesn't really matter. It was
- 11:34Speaker 1: just sort of very forced interactions between Robin and Christine.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I just feel like these two women would never, ever
- 11:42Speaker 1: be friends if it was up to them.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I agree. I do think, though, Christine in this moment was, like,
- 11:48Speaker 2: trying to be nice with Robin. I feel like Robin,
- 11:51Speaker 2: on the other hand, just, like, really hates Christine. She
- 11:54Speaker 2: hates all of the wives, really. She only cares about
- 11:56Speaker 2: her own quality, and that's it. And Robin made, like,
- 11:59Speaker 2: some weird comment when they were talking about sister-wife relationships. Like,
- 12:03Speaker 2: Christine says, um... you have to really trust your sister wife.
- 12:07Speaker 2: You have to really want to see her to succeed.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Otherwise your relationship with her is not going to survive.
- 12:12Speaker 2: And Robin's like, yeah, you can't be conniving or what
- 12:16Speaker 2: did she say? Conniving or undermining the relationship. Otherwise it's
- 12:20Speaker 2: not going to work.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, okay.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Pot calling the kettle.
- 12:23Speaker 1: High projection.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Bitch. And then it's like the day after Christmas, we
- 12:28Speaker 2: have to watch all of the older kids make breakfast again,
- 12:31Speaker 2: which we've seen in previous seasons. The older girls.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Serve the boys and the rest of the family.
- 12:36Speaker 2: And they're teaching the younger girls the tradition because a
- 12:39Speaker 2: lot of the older girls have moved out by this point.
- 12:43Speaker 2: And then it's three days post Robin's due date. And
- 12:48Speaker 2: she feels in her Mormon intuition that she's going to
- 12:50Speaker 2: have the baby this day because her Braxton Hicks and
- 12:53Speaker 2: her contractions are so close together. And so then like
- 12:56Speaker 2: the rest of the episode is prepping for her birth.
- 12:59Speaker 2: And then we have to have a whole conversation about
- 13:01Speaker 2: home birth versus hospital birth.
- 13:04Speaker 1: And, you know, we're scared as polygamists to go to
- 13:06Speaker 1: the hospital because they start asking all those darn questions like,
- 13:09Speaker 1: who's the father of this baby? Who should be put
- 13:12Speaker 1: on the birth certificate? And that can get us into
- 13:14Speaker 1: so much trouble.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I know.
- 13:16Speaker 1: You've told me this. A million times before. We get it.
- 13:20Speaker 2: And we did hear from Christine at this point talking
- 13:22Speaker 2: about how weird it was to have her birth with
- 13:25Speaker 2: Truly filmed on TV. Like when she was initially in
- 13:30Speaker 2: the process of giving birth, she didn't really care about
- 13:32Speaker 2: the cameraman or anything because they trust this dude. But
- 13:35Speaker 2: then after when she saw it on TV and she
- 13:37Speaker 2: was watching herself give birth in the hospital, she felt
- 13:39Speaker 2: a little weird about it. And this kind of leads
- 13:42Speaker 2: up to us watching Robin give birth. And we pretty
- 13:45Speaker 2: much watched like the entire.
- 13:47Speaker 1: We saw her little bag of water explode from her
- 13:51Speaker 1: vagine into the face of April, the midwife. We saw
- 13:54Speaker 1: it all. Yeah. We saw it all. We have to
- 13:57Speaker 1: talk about her dilation. I don't mean to be crass,
- 14:00Speaker 1: but it's too much.
- 14:02Speaker 2: It's a lot.
- 14:03Speaker 1: At least with Solomon, it was, I don't know, 15
- 14:06Speaker 1: minutes of a one hour episode. You know, we got enough. Yeah.
- 14:12Speaker 1: But this was a two hour episode with the most
- 14:15Speaker 1: content going to Robin. Yeah. Her over a ball, her
- 14:20Speaker 1: inactive labor, walking around her in bed, trying to breathe
- 14:24Speaker 1: out of her nose. Like I just, it's just, so much.
- 14:27Speaker 2: It kind of felt like a weird, like nature documentary.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I'm like, we don't need to watch this. Like I
- 14:32Speaker 2: think birth is beautiful and magical. And I will say
- 14:36Speaker 2: what it's not. Well, it is like the process.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Of it from a meta position, bringing life into the
- 14:41Speaker 1: world is obviously great, but like the birth act.
- 14:44Speaker 2: No, it's yeah. There's lots of private sensitive things. There's
- 14:48Speaker 2: gross things that happen.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:50Speaker 2: And it's not fun to watch on TV. That's for sure.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I will give Robin props where props are due. The
- 14:56Speaker 2: fact that she had five successful home births with like
- 14:59Speaker 2: no medication and stuff. None.
- 15:01Speaker 1: That's metal.
- 15:03Speaker 2: It is. Like, that's hardcore. I will say that's pretty cool.
- 15:06Speaker 2: I would never do that myself.
- 15:09Speaker 1: No, I wouldn't want that for anybody.
- 15:11Speaker 2: It's pretty crazy. And then the thing that I thought
- 15:13Speaker 2: was interesting is, like, during this whole birth process, we
- 15:17Speaker 2: kind of hear from Cody where he says that Robin
- 15:20Speaker 2: was trained by her mom to be very ladylike and
- 15:25Speaker 2: calm and poised during all of her births because, according
- 15:29Speaker 2: to Robin's mom... When you're screaming in pain and you
- 15:33Speaker 2: are agitated or whatever, and you're making a lot of noise,
- 15:36Speaker 2: it can somehow negatively impact the birth or like negatively
- 15:41Speaker 2: impact the baby.
- 15:42Speaker 1: That sounds like some Scientology BS.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah. And like some weird culty stuff. And I kind
- 15:47Speaker 2: of felt a little bad for Robin in that regard.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Cause I'm like, damn dude. So you can't even like
- 15:51Speaker 2: have a normal baby. like female primal reaction to pushing
- 15:56Speaker 2: a giant human out your coochie with no meds or anything.
- 16:00Speaker 2: You're just, so that's why we see her. like this
- 16:02Speaker 2: and with Saul just very quiet and just pushing and
- 16:06Speaker 2: not making any noise. And I'm like, that's.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Crazy to me. It is crazy. And let me clarify. Um,
- 16:11Speaker 1: I personally would always choose the drugs and I would
- 16:15Speaker 1: always recommend to anybody in my sphere of influence, take
- 16:18Speaker 1: all the drugs that you can take without hurting yourself
- 16:21Speaker 1: or the baby. Absolutely get the drugs. But if you
- 16:23Speaker 1: chose as a mom to have a child without drugs
- 16:28Speaker 1: to do, to do it, like, naturally 100%. I also
- 16:31Speaker 1: think that that's wonderful. I'm not saying that everybody should
- 16:34Speaker 1: have the drugs. It's just for me. Like I feel
- 16:36Speaker 1: like I really wished that I could have the epidural
- 16:39Speaker 1: throughout and I didn't have to labor so intensely. And
- 16:41Speaker 1: speaking of making excited utterances, I was, I was grunting.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I was screaming.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I was yelling. In fact, when it was over, my
- 16:53Speaker 1: grandmother had been there with me throughout it. She's like, wow,
- 16:57Speaker 1: that was, A lot harder than I thought it was
- 16:59Speaker 1: going to be. Like you were really in a lot
- 17:01Speaker 1: of pain. So I think I was just really vocal
- 17:04Speaker 1: throughout the entire thing. And I'm sure I needed to
- 17:06Speaker 1: be because as you have waves going through your body
- 17:10Speaker 1: trying to push this little person out, it hurts. Duh.
- 17:13Speaker 1: And it's okay to be able to be in the
- 17:15Speaker 1: energy of that. But like Robin is just quiet as
- 17:18Speaker 1: a church mouse. And there's Alice with her camera with
- 17:21Speaker 1: the flash.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Dude.
- 17:23Speaker 1: The whole time. It was wild.
- 17:26Speaker 2: And that was so weird to me. And then we
- 17:28Speaker 2: have Cody the whole time in his talking head and
- 17:31Speaker 2: like throughout the process being like, this is really intense.
- 17:33Speaker 2: This is a really stressful situation. I'm getting kind of
- 17:37Speaker 2: scared because Robin's mom is praying. And we're worried. And crying.
- 17:41Speaker 2: And Robin's intuition has been telling us something is wrong
- 17:44Speaker 2: this whole time. Meanwhile, the birth is like perfectly fine. Yeah.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Like literally nothing happened.
- 17:47Speaker 1: And it happened in like a couple of hours because
- 17:49Speaker 1: Christine's like, I was just over there. She was walking around.
- 17:52Speaker 1: She was fully dressed. And now I guess the baby's born.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Two and a half hours later. So it was like
- 17:56Speaker 1: a quick delivery without issue, except for, I guess, the clavicle.
- 18:00Speaker 1: But the way they were setting it up was like,
- 18:03Speaker 1: oh my God, something terrible is going to happen. Now
- 18:05Speaker 1: let's talk about Cody, the birthing coach, because here comes
- 18:10Speaker 1: Janelle on the couch to say, I really have to
- 18:13Speaker 1: say that Cody is the guy you want in the
- 18:17Speaker 1: room when you're giving birth because he's so present. He's
- 18:20Speaker 1: so supportive and encouraging and he is right there. And
- 18:25Speaker 1: I think that's true. I think from what we can
- 18:28Speaker 1: see for every birth that we've seen Cody attend, He
- 18:31Speaker 1: has been very present. And I think that's great because
- 18:34Speaker 1: I think you were talking last week about Gen Z
- 18:37Speaker 1: dads who are playing video games and ordering pizza in
- 18:41Speaker 1: the delivery room, whereas Cody is really there for the
- 18:44Speaker 1: wives and for the children. And I think that's great.
- 18:46Speaker 1: But then there's that aspect of Cody that always needs
- 18:50Speaker 1: to center himself first as some sort of an authority
- 18:54Speaker 1: on giving birth. And so you do have him standing
- 18:58Speaker 1: over Robin and commanding her to breathe through her nose
- 19:02Speaker 1: and to get enough air and telling her what to
- 19:05Speaker 1: do and yes that's how that yes she should be
- 19:07Speaker 1: doing that but it's the way that he's doing it
- 19:11Speaker 1: like he knows better and he's in control of the
- 19:15Speaker 1: entire thing and he's the master of the birthing operations
- 19:19Speaker 1: it's very annoying i don't know how she did not
- 19:22Speaker 1: kick him right in the balls and sent him from
- 19:24Speaker 1: the room i.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Thought the same thing because i'm like man we're hearing
- 19:27Speaker 2: a lot from cody And about how he's so great
- 19:30Speaker 2: and so amazing as a husband.
- 19:33Speaker 1: And this is also what women need to do to
- 19:35Speaker 1: give birth. From Cody.
- 19:36Speaker 2: He literally called himself the enforcer. As in he knows
- 19:40Speaker 2: exactly what they need to be doing during birth because
- 19:43Speaker 2: he knows all. And I'm just like, dude, it was
- 19:46Speaker 2: it was really crazy to see this because it really
- 19:49Speaker 2: highlights his narcissism that only just gets worse from here
- 19:53Speaker 2: on out because I'm like man Like your wife is
- 19:56Speaker 2: in active labor and we're just talking about how you
- 19:59Speaker 2: know the rules and how you're being a really good
- 20:01Speaker 2: husband because you're telling her to breathe and how you
- 20:04Speaker 2: made her mad because you were telling her to breathe
- 20:06Speaker 2: through her nose. And he's like, but it's okay because
- 20:08Speaker 2: I know what needs to be done. So I'm good.
- 20:11Speaker 2: I don't care if she's mad at me. because I'm
- 20:13Speaker 2: doing the right thing. I'm like, oh my God, give
- 20:15Speaker 2: me a break.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Just stop talking about yourself so much. It's really not
- 20:18Speaker 1: about you. And apparently Ariella had huge shoulders and it
- 20:22Speaker 1: was actually really difficult, ergo painful, very painful for Robin
- 20:29Speaker 1: to be able to push that baby out. And let's
- 20:33Speaker 1: talk a little bit more about that instead of about
- 20:35Speaker 1: yourself in your constant perceptions of everything going on around you.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I just like, shut up. He can't shut up.
- 20:42Speaker 2: And like, not to advocate for Robin so much in
- 20:45Speaker 2: this episode, because I know we hate her, but I'm like,
- 20:48Speaker 2: this is about her giving birth and her doing a
- 20:51Speaker 2: home birth and natural birth, which again, like I said,
- 20:53Speaker 2: is metal as fuck. And yet we're centering Cody the
- 20:57Speaker 2: entire time, nearly the entire time. We're not talking about
- 21:00Speaker 2: how amazing it is that she was able to do
- 21:02Speaker 2: that with no pain we're not no pain but no
- 21:05Speaker 2: pain management or pain or drugs or anything like that
- 21:08Speaker 2: we're talking about Cody being a really good husband yeah
- 21:10Speaker 2: and then we have to hear from the other wives
- 21:12Speaker 2: who echo the same sentiment because we have to like
- 21:14Speaker 2: fan Cody and worship him because he's the patriarch and
- 21:17Speaker 2: so amazing and it's funny because we're doing all of
- 21:20Speaker 2: this when there's two moments in this episode where Cody
- 21:24Speaker 2: gets pissed off at his family for not listening to
- 21:26Speaker 2: him like it was at the Christmas dinner I think
- 21:29Speaker 2: where he like makes an announcement for their upcoming trip
- 21:33Speaker 2: to Hawaii. And all of the kids were just like
- 21:35Speaker 2: worrying about their food and not really giving a fuck.
- 21:37Speaker 2: And Cody gets frustrated that nobody's listening to him. And
- 21:40Speaker 2: I was thinking, this is probably what he means later
- 21:44Speaker 2: in the series where he talks about how nobody respects
- 21:47Speaker 2: him and nobody like, um, cares about his authority in
- 21:51Speaker 2: the family and how he's the patriarch or whatever, because
- 21:54Speaker 2: he gets mad at that. And then he gets mad
- 21:56Speaker 2: at the end of the episode and, when they announced
- 21:59Speaker 2: to the family what the baby's name is and nobody's
- 22:01Speaker 2: listening to him, and he's like, why can't everybody just
- 22:03Speaker 2: be quiet and listen to me? And I'm like, chill out.
- 22:05Speaker 2: You're not the center of attention.
- 22:07Speaker 1: You're not the center of attention. And there was a
- 22:09Speaker 1: baby that was just born and everybody's excited about it.
- 22:11Speaker 1: And you have all of these kids, some of which
- 22:13Speaker 1: are pretty young and they're all gathered together and they're
- 22:16Speaker 1: being pretty polite. I mean, like, why does it always
- 22:19Speaker 1: have to be some sort of an issue about you're
- 22:21Speaker 1: trying to commandeer and manage your family? It's just too
- 22:25Speaker 1: much from Cody. And Then we get the name reveal.
- 22:28Speaker 1: And I did want to ask you about this because
- 22:30Speaker 1: earlier in this season, I think when they went to
- 22:33Speaker 1: the ultrasound, the technician asked Robin whether she had a
- 22:39Speaker 1: name yet. And Robin's like, yeah, I don't really think so.
- 22:42Speaker 1: We're still trying to figure that out. And I just
- 22:44Speaker 1: had the impression that they already knew what the name was.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Probably.
- 22:47Speaker 1: And here again, during this episode, as soon as the
- 22:51Speaker 1: baby comes into the world, Robin says again, yeah, I'm
- 22:54Speaker 1: not sure. what we're going to name the baby, still
- 22:57Speaker 1: thinking about it. We're just calling her baby girl. And
- 23:00Speaker 1: then they have this announcement event. It's like, it's always
- 23:03Speaker 1: got to be this family event or family celebration where
- 23:07Speaker 1: everybody has to gather around. Cody has to wrangle his
- 23:10Speaker 1: family and then Cody gets to make some sort of announcement.
- 23:13Speaker 2: It's, tedious it's very tedious and it really is just
- 23:16Speaker 2: for them to propel the narrative that like they're a
- 23:20Speaker 2: cohesive family unit unit and that they're united together when
- 23:24Speaker 2: we know just even watching this back that they're really
- 23:27Speaker 2: not at this point in time like they're really only
- 23:29Speaker 2: gathering just because the cameras are around and like about
- 23:33Speaker 2: the name chain or the name choice Cody was the
- 23:36Speaker 2: one that picked it yeah allegedly I mean according to
- 23:39Speaker 2: this story like Robin's like yeah I wasn't sure what
- 23:41Speaker 2: to name her and Then Cody comes to me and
- 23:44Speaker 2: says that he had this like premonition that he needed
- 23:47Speaker 2: to have this name. And so we went with what
- 23:49Speaker 2: Cody wanted. I'm like, again, it's like all about Cody.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Yes. And I think Robin says that Ariella is Hebrew
- 23:56Speaker 1: for lioness of God. And I'm like, Ariella is a
- 23:59Speaker 1: Hebrew name? During the days of Moses, we had some
- 24:05Speaker 1: lady walking around named Ariella. I don't know. Alexis and
- 24:09Speaker 1: Ariella with Moses walking through the Red Sea. I don't know.
- 24:14Speaker 1: It's just like, okay, whatever. It's a pretty name for
- 24:16Speaker 1: a beautiful baby. I actually cried when Ariella was born.
- 24:21Speaker 1: And for whatever reason, anytime I see a birth. I
- 24:25Speaker 1: always cried. Do you still have that show on TLC
- 24:28Speaker 1: just about births?
- 24:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Every single episode.
- 24:32Speaker 2: You were crying. I would cry.
- 24:33Speaker 1: And I wondered if I would in this one because
- 24:36Speaker 1: I just can't stand Cody and Robin. And I don't.
- 24:40Speaker 1: care about them. But sure enough, as soon as that
- 24:42Speaker 1: baby finally got yanked out of her cooter by the shoulders,
- 24:46Speaker 1: I cried a little bit.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Well, and I mean, like I said, it's kind of
- 24:49Speaker 2: a beautiful experience. And she was like a really healthy,
- 24:51Speaker 2: chubby baby.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I thought she was so cute. She was nine pounds,
- 24:54Speaker 1: nine ounces. Yep. Damn.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Well, when my mom was born, she had her clavicle
- 24:59Speaker 2: broken too. She was 10 pounds.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Mama B. I know.
- 25:04Speaker 2: So it's just, I don't know. It was sweet or whatever.
- 25:09Speaker 2: I hate to be, like, so blasé about it because
- 25:13Speaker 2: it's Ariella's birth. And, like, she didn't get to choose
- 25:15Speaker 2: her demonic parents. So, like, I feel bad that she
- 25:19Speaker 2: was born to them or whatever. And she's the last
- 25:22Speaker 2: baby of the family.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Yes.
- 25:23Speaker 2: So that is like special. Oh, and I did also
- 25:26Speaker 2: want to point out before Ariella was even born, I
- 25:29Speaker 2: thought it was kind of weird how involved Aurora and
- 25:32Speaker 2: Brianna were.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Like Aurora was tracking the timing of Robin's contractions and
- 25:40Speaker 2: Brianna was in the room and they weren't in the
- 25:42Speaker 2: room for the actual birth with Robin's kitty cat out
- 25:45Speaker 2: and everything.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Right.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Only her dad was watching from the fucking cuck chair
- 25:50Speaker 2: over there. But like, I just thought it was kind
- 25:52Speaker 2: of odd that these like teenage girls were so involved
- 25:56Speaker 2: in it. I don't think it's necessarily inappropriate because I
- 25:59Speaker 2: feel like historically that's probably not an uncommon thing.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I just thought, I think it's part of what they do. Yeah.
- 26:05Speaker 2: I just thought it was kind of odd. And then
- 26:07Speaker 2: they were like the first ones allowed in to see
- 26:10Speaker 2: baby Ariella. And then the rest of the family was
- 26:12Speaker 2: allowed to come over once they Dayton gave them the
- 26:16Speaker 2: go ahead because Dayton sent out a max mass text
- 26:19Speaker 2: to the rest of the family that baby Ariella was born.
- 26:22Speaker 2: I just, I don't know. I thought it was kind
- 26:23Speaker 2: of weird and it kind of highlighted a little bit,
- 26:25Speaker 2: just like how Robin and Cody's little family was kind
- 26:29Speaker 2: of keeping.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:30Speaker 2: And like starting to separate themselves a little bit from
- 26:33Speaker 2: the larger family. group but ultimately when everybody comes over
- 26:37Speaker 2: to see the baby like it's it's sweet and yeah
- 26:41Speaker 2: of course we do have to highlight hunter and how
- 26:44Speaker 2: uh robin was so scared about hunter's reaction because he
- 26:48Speaker 2: didn't really like saul at first according to robin and
- 26:52Speaker 2: but now he's not true i know he.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Was great with saul as soon as saul was born
- 26:56Speaker 1: he didn't like the announcement of your pregnancy because it
- 26:59Speaker 1: was one more thing on top of the shit sandwich
- 27:02Speaker 1: she he had just endured But you just can't have
- 27:05Speaker 1: any compassion for Hunter at all. And you've got to
- 27:07Speaker 1: bring it up once again years later. Because she's so
- 27:10Speaker 1: resentful of it.
- 27:10Speaker 2: I'm just like, wow, girl, like we're going to continue
- 27:13Speaker 2: to be bitter about it. But that also just highlights
- 27:16Speaker 2: Robin's shitty character and how she never really liked this
- 27:19Speaker 2: family and never really liked any of the other kids
- 27:21Speaker 2: or any of the other wives. She really was just
- 27:23Speaker 2: concerned about Cody and securing her bag. So it's like
- 27:26Speaker 2: this whole everybody comes over to see the baby is
- 27:29Speaker 2: more of like a formality for this episode. Again, to
- 27:33Speaker 2: try and highlight that they are one cohesive family unit.
- 27:36Speaker 2: But we know they ain't.
- 27:38Speaker 1: They are not, I don't think. But I did want
- 27:40Speaker 1: to mention Dayton because you had brought it up. But
- 27:44Speaker 1: the scenes with Dayton this episode, he looked so handsome.
- 27:48Speaker 1: I thought so too. Looks like he's in the gym
- 27:49Speaker 1: or something. He's slimming down. He's getting some muscles. And
- 27:54Speaker 1: he was looking really handsome. I thought so, too.
- 27:56Speaker 2: I was like, okay, Robin's jeans aren't all that bad.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Not all that bad. Sorry.
- 28:01Speaker 2: That's so mean.
- 28:02Speaker 1: She looks just like Alice, her mother. I know. She
- 28:05Speaker 1: is going to age exactly like Alice as well.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Do you think she's going to look exactly like Alice
- 28:09Speaker 2: and Cody's going to be stuck?
- 28:10Speaker 1: I mean, she's got the facial structure that she's got, right?
- 28:14Speaker 1: And she does seem to be going... like in terms
- 28:18Speaker 1: of her body composition, she seems to be going the
- 28:21Speaker 1: way of Alice, which there's nothing wrong with that. But
- 28:23Speaker 1: I mean, just, and I think I said it a
- 28:25Speaker 1: few episodes ago, every single time I see Alice's sour,
- 28:29Speaker 1: dour disposition, I'm like, Ooh, I don't like her. And
- 28:32Speaker 1: I do feel that Robin gives some of that energy
- 28:35Speaker 1: as well.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Dour, sour. melancholy Eeyore don't like.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Well, and her parents just in general give me weird vibes.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Like I just, I've always felt that way. They're super weird.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Chris Hansen, where are you at? Googling. But like all
- 28:52Speaker 2: of the other families, like all the other wives and
- 28:54Speaker 2: their families don't give me weird vibes. Like I love
- 28:57Speaker 2: Janelle's mom. I think Christine's mom is nice.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Love Annie.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Mary's mom was really great. And even Cody's moms were fine. Yes.
- 29:05Speaker 2: But I'm just like, Robin's parents are weird. Yeah.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Something weird going on there.
- 29:09Speaker 2: I just think it's super bizarre. And then we get
- 29:11Speaker 2: to the preview for next week's episode, which is hopefully
- 29:13Speaker 2: only going to be 45 minutes because I can't do this.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I believe it's only 45 minutes. Yes.
- 29:20Speaker 2: And we have Mary again, discussing her terrible relationship with
- 29:24Speaker 2: Leon and how she really wants to try and get
- 29:27Speaker 2: Leon back into her good graces. And then we of
- 29:31Speaker 2: course go to Hawaii for spring bake. And I can't
- 29:33Speaker 2: remember what happens on that trip.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I don't remember. I think that there are some Scarman.
- 29:40Speaker 1: between Leon and Mary I think that they have a
- 29:44Speaker 1: confrontation on a deck or something and Leon I just
- 29:49Speaker 1: remember feeling like Leon was really really harsh with Mary I.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Can see it and I think it's great that TLC
- 29:56Speaker 2: is funding this trip for them because there's no way
- 29:58Speaker 2: the Browns would be able to afford this on their own.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Because it's not only the 23 people in the family going,
- 30:03Speaker 2: but then we have to bring Mindy.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Probably Caleb.
- 30:06Speaker 2: We're bringing Caleb.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Michelle.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Michelle. And one of the grandmas, I think Christine's mom probably.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I'm like, damn, dude, where are y'all staying? They're probably
- 30:14Speaker 2: going to stay at some booty ass resort. You'll have
- 30:16Speaker 2: to tell me if you recognize.
- 30:17Speaker 1: I'll be checking it out. I'm like, what island did
- 30:19Speaker 1: they go to? I'll have a look-see and let everybody know.
- 30:22Speaker 2: And then we have like some segments with Logan and Michelle,
- 30:25Speaker 2: I think, and Caleb and Maddie when they're in Hawaii
- 30:28Speaker 2: and we talk about their relationship.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Sorry. And I'm bored. Literally through this whole episode, I
- 30:34Speaker 1: was fighting sleep so hard. I was like, I should
- 30:37Speaker 1: just go take a nap because this is putting me
- 30:39Speaker 1: to bed.
- 30:40Speaker 2: I know.
- 30:41Speaker 1: It was bad. It was a bad episode.
- 30:42Speaker 2: It was very bad.
- 30:43Speaker 1: And that's really all we could squeeze out of it.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I think we've only been talking for maybe a half
- 30:48Speaker 1: an hour.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 1: There just wasn't anything there. We were like Robin in
- 30:52Speaker 1: the Creek mining for gold or panning for gold. And
- 30:55Speaker 1: there was nothing there. So sorry about that, guys. Sorry. Um,
- 30:59Speaker 1: is there anything else that we should say to these
- 31:01Speaker 1: beautiful raccoons before we get up on out of here?
- 31:04Speaker 2: Well, if you love our podcast, please go show us

- 31:14Speaker 1: Thank you very much. We will be back later to
- 31:16Speaker 1: keep on talking to you. Until then, please do not
- 31:19Speaker 1: forget that we have nothing but love for you. And
- 31:22Speaker 1: peace out.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Bye. Bye, guys.
