- 0:02Speaker 1: And Angie, this will be your first we Fest kind
- 0:06Speaker 1: of experience have you had. Do you even hear about
- 0:09Speaker 1: we Fest when you're in on the West Coast?
- 0:11Speaker 2: No, not at all.
- 0:13Speaker 3: And then here it's like, I mean, I got here
- 0:16Speaker 3: in February and there's been talk of we Fest and
- 0:20Speaker 3: I can't believe it's finally here. I can't believe we're
- 0:22Speaker 3: already in August. But yeah, we Fest is like the thing,
- 0:26Speaker 3: the talk of the town. At Big Happy Hour, we
- 0:29Speaker 3: gave away wristbands to we Fest and the woman who
- 0:32Speaker 3: won them was so ecstatic, and it's like, Okay, we
- 0:35Speaker 3: Fest is the thing, and I've never been, so this
- 0:39Speaker 3: is exciting.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:40Speaker 1: According to wefest dot Com, two days, ten hours, forty
- 0:44Speaker 1: three minutes and forty seconds in counting.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Wow, we Fest kicks off. Now.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Being a Minnesota kid, you grow up and you just
- 0:53Speaker 1: hear about we Fest all the time. I have two
- 0:56Speaker 1: really good friends who their moms. They're kind of vacation together.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Every year was we Fest, these two ladies would go.
- 1:05Speaker 1: And I also have never actually been to we Fest.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I've been in Detroit Lakes during we Fest. Oh yes,
- 1:15Speaker 1: I've been to the we Fest like campgrounds and stuff,
- 1:18Speaker 1: But I've never actually gone to like a show or
- 1:21Speaker 1: anything there, so we got to do it this year.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I know we might have to have our sister station
- 1:26Speaker 1: sneak us in the back of a truck or something
- 1:28Speaker 1: to go.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Oh yeah, please, We'll be quiet and we'll bring snacks. Yeah,
- 1:33Speaker 3: just get us there.
- 1:34Speaker 1: We want to know, since we Fest is such an
- 1:36Speaker 1: integral part, you know, of northern Minnesota and just the
- 1:39Speaker 1: summers here in the FM area, what do you remember,
- 1:44Speaker 1: hopefully you remember something about your first we Fest experience?
- 1:48Speaker 1: Who did you go see? What show was it, what
- 1:51Speaker 1: artists did you see? What happened at we Fest? Maybe
- 1:53Speaker 1: stays at we Fest, but we'd love for you to
- 1:56Speaker 1: share it with us.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Yeah, bring it here, don't make it stay at we Fest.
- 1:59Speaker 2: We want to hear from you.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Seven oh one, two, eight oh one, nine eight seven.
- 2:02Speaker 3: What was your greatest we Fest experience?
- 2:07Speaker 1: But we Fest only a few days away here, Angie.
- 2:11Speaker 1: This is her first sort of Fargo we Fest experience,
- 2:15Speaker 1: just moved here.
- 2:17Speaker 4: And sometimes what happens at we Fest, you know, on
- 2:19Speaker 4: it stays at we Fest.
- 2:20Speaker 1: But there are some individuals who were really willing to
- 2:23Speaker 1: share with us some things they remember and or don't
- 2:26Speaker 1: remember right about their time at we Fest.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah, we festers are wild, Ashley messaged in and that
- 2:34Speaker 3: is a generic enough name that it could be any
- 2:36Speaker 3: Ashley in the FM area.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I was supposed to go Thursday night.
- 2:40Speaker 3: I ended up staying all weekend in different guys tents
- 2:43Speaker 3: and vans. Kenny Chesney was playing too hungover for Tim McGrath,
- 2:48Speaker 3: and I can't remember Saturday.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I was eighteen, So.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Yolo, Well for you, Ashley, as long as you had
- 2:55Speaker 1: some fun and you were safe. And we do want
- 2:56Speaker 1: to remind people that obviously have a black at we Fest, right,
- 3:00Speaker 1: but always be be responsible, be responsible and you know,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I don't know, don't be too dumb.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Yeah, make good choices. But I love this energy.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I feel like we Fest. If you're going to we Fest,
- 3:12Speaker 3: you're not there to knit or crochet. You're there to
- 3:15Speaker 3: have a good time.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Love this.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yeah, you're there to fest. Okay, So I'm excited. Should
- 3:20Speaker 3: we like try to hitch a ride with Bob FM
- 3:23Speaker 3: and see if they'll take us.
- 3:24Speaker 1: That might have to That might have to be our goal. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:26Speaker 1: all right? Seven oh one two eight zero one nine
- 3:29Speaker 1: eight seven. Sometimes what happens at we Fest stays at
- 3:31Speaker 1: we Fest sometimes it makes it to Big ninety eight
- 3:34Speaker 1: point seven. Here, let us know what is like a
- 3:37Speaker 1: memorable moment you have from we Fest or your very
- 3:40Speaker 1: first we Fest?
- 3:41Speaker 4: Who'd you see? What'd you do?
- 3:43Speaker 1: Let us know here this morning, as this will be
- 3:45Speaker 1: Angie's kind of first time being in the area for Wefest,
- 3:49Speaker 1: which is really really cool and I'm excited for you
- 3:51Speaker 1: to see all the fun. He's variety, Big ninety eight
- 3:55Speaker 1: point seven. Good morning, It's Gabe and Angie. Cloudy today,
- 3:59Speaker 1: Hive seventy seven. Maybe some rain around ten this morning
- 4:03Speaker 1: as well, and we're gonna.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Start off this Monday.
- 4:05Speaker 1: We're gonna start off this week on a positive note
- 4:07Speaker 1: with some little victories.
- 4:11Speaker 3: And if you have a little victory you want to
- 4:13Speaker 3: share with us, hit us up seven oh one to two,
- 4:16Speaker 3: way to one, nine eight seven. We love to hear
- 4:18Speaker 3: from you. Gave My little victory from this weekend is
- 4:22Speaker 3: that I finally painted the farch.
- 4:26Speaker 2: What is the farch.
- 4:27Speaker 3: It's the bridge that we have made for the Putt
- 4:31Speaker 3: Putt course that Mikey and I are making for the kids.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Oh sure, and it's called the farch because you know,
- 4:37Speaker 3: I have no sense of direction. But you know how
- 4:39Speaker 3: when you're driving on the freeway highway. I also don't
- 4:43Speaker 3: know what people call things, but.
- 4:46Speaker 2: There's that like it looks like there's an arch.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Yeah, and so I call it the farch, the Fargo arch,
- 4:53Speaker 3: and it's very dumb. But for this, for this putt
- 4:57Speaker 3: putt course, we decided to build the farch and we
- 5:02Speaker 3: needed to paint it, and I painted it this weekend.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Well, I'm glad you were able to get that done.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I did see a picture of that, by the way,
- 5:09Speaker 1: yes on.
- 5:09Speaker 2: The big ninety played seven Facebook page.
- 5:11Speaker 4: That is right.
- 5:12Speaker 1: And for me, my little victory was just an excellent
- 5:16Speaker 1: weekend of bromance and you know, debauchery and golf.
- 5:21Speaker 4: We had an absolute blast.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I played a couple of rounds of golf this weekend
- 5:24Speaker 1: with some of my longest, oldest friends that I've ever had,
- 5:27Speaker 1: and I played pretty darn good. If I'm gonna be
- 5:30Speaker 1: honest with you, I shot the ball very very well.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I even made a couple of putts. So it was
- 5:34Speaker 1: just fun. Fun to be with the boys, fun to
- 5:36Speaker 1: get back in Winona, Minnesota for a couple of days
- 5:39Speaker 1: or whatever. But other than that, it was just nice
- 5:42Speaker 1: to see you know some of my very best friends.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Good for you, happy Gilmore.
- 5:46Speaker 3: And I saw a picture on the big ninety point
- 5:48Speaker 3: seven Facebook page of you and your buddies, right, you
- 5:51Speaker 3: looked very happy.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yeah, we were having a good time. It was a
- 5:54Speaker 1: lot of fun. There really are some places in the
- 5:59Speaker 1: world that are just they're living, like the year three thousand,
- 6:02Speaker 1: just like that Jonas Brothers song.
- 6:04Speaker 2: All right.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Chinese researchers have developed a prototype robot that can identify
- 6:11Speaker 1: and gently pick up objects like toys, bottles, and stuffed animals.
- 6:16Speaker 1: And could you imagine going through your life never having
- 6:19Speaker 1: to worry about stepping on a lego?
- 6:21Speaker 4: Again?
- 6:22Speaker 2: The dream? Yeah, that's amazing. Yeah.
- 6:25Speaker 4: This also sounds like that Disney movie Smart House. What
- 6:28Speaker 4: was that? Ladies named Catherine Sagal or my.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Gosh, yes, Katie Sagal. I love her.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I love Smart House, except for you know, in Smart House,
- 6:36Speaker 3: things go Overron.
- 6:37Speaker 4: That's right.
- 6:38Speaker 1: The robot responds to voice commands, maps indoor spaces, uses
- 6:43Speaker 1: soft inflatable fingers to grab items. But you can only
- 6:48Speaker 1: have like light objects. You know, she's not gonna be
- 6:50Speaker 1: able to move. I don't know the pantry for you.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Okay, Well, how lazy are we trying to be in
- 6:56Speaker 2: this world?
- 6:56Speaker 4: Okay, all right?
- 6:58Speaker 1: In quiet environments, speak speech recognition accuracy ranged from eighty
- 7:02Speaker 1: three to eighty five percent. And then, while promising the
- 7:06Speaker 1: robot remains in the prototype phase and hasn't been tested
- 7:10Speaker 1: in real homes, which present far more unpredictable conditions. We
- 7:15Speaker 1: are getting closer and closer to the robots taking over
- 7:18Speaker 1: the world.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Now, that's why I say thank you to chat GPT.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Right, if you could have a robot do one shore
- 7:25Speaker 1: for you? All right, maybe not the whole house, but
- 7:27Speaker 1: one shore. What would that shore be for you? Seven
- 7:31Speaker 1: h one two eight zero one nine eight seven. For me,
- 7:35Speaker 1: there is one correct answer and one correct answer only.
- 7:39Speaker 1: There are a lot of close seconds, but really one
- 7:42Speaker 1: dominates the rest.
- 7:43Speaker 2: I feel like I'm on the same page as you.
- 7:45Speaker 3: So let's say on three one two three laundry, Yeah,
- 7:50Speaker 3: one thousand percent.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And I have said this out loud before to my wife.
- 7:56Speaker 1: If we ever won the Powerball and all of a
- 7:58Speaker 1: sudden I have five hundred million dollars, I will pay
- 8:02Speaker 1: somebody a fifty thousand dollars salary to fold and put
- 8:06Speaker 1: away my laundry.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that's no good. Can I be hired?
- 8:10Speaker 1: Yeah, a couple times of working a week. Yeah, I'd
- 8:13Speaker 1: pay you fifty grand a year to just do that,
- 8:15Speaker 1: to take that off of my plate.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I hope you win the power ball. God, we're hoping.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Why don't I hope I win the power ball?
- 8:23Speaker 4: Oh? That's right. Is there anything other than laundry?
- 8:26Speaker 2: You know what? Mopping? I cannot. I love to vacuum.
- 8:29Speaker 3: I even like to sweep, but mopping, oh my gosh,
- 8:32Speaker 3: I hate it.
- 8:33Speaker 2: So if the robot could do that for me, that'd
- 8:36Speaker 2: be great.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Yeah. Seven oh one to eight zero one nine eight seven. Jessica,
- 8:40Speaker 4: what about you cleaning the shower?
- 8:42Speaker 3: It's somehow a place that cleans you but turns into
- 8:45Speaker 3: a science experiment if you ignore it. A few weeks,
- 8:48Speaker 3: soaps come and mystery hair and bending over with rubber gloves.
- 8:52Speaker 2: You know it's thanks.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Let's a robot handle that grinding nonsense.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Well, I pretend to be meaning to get to it.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Yeah, oh dangerous. She's got a point. And there's all
- 8:59Speaker 4: that hair.
- 9:00Speaker 3: There, and oh my gosh, I just got into it
- 9:03Speaker 3: with Mikey yesterday because my hair is always all over
- 9:06Speaker 3: the shower He's like, I don't understand why how does
- 9:08Speaker 3: this happen? I'm like, because it comes out when I
- 9:10Speaker 3: washed my hair where am I supposed to put it?
- 9:14Speaker 1: And there are some places in the world where they're living,
- 9:18Speaker 1: like the year three thousand, there's some Chinese developers of
- 9:22Speaker 1: a robot that can gently identify and pick up objects
- 9:28Speaker 1: around your house basically I don't know, like a made
- 9:32Speaker 1: via robot.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Yeah, doing some chores, yeah, man.
- 9:35Speaker 1: So if there was one thing you could have a
- 9:38Speaker 1: robot do around the house for you, one chore, what
- 9:41Speaker 1: would you have it do? Seven oh one two eight
- 9:43Speaker 1: zero one nine eight seven. Angi and I Bolt have
- 9:46Speaker 1: kind of said the same thing. Uh, like folding laundry
- 9:50Speaker 1: would be a life saver a close second, which they're
- 9:53Speaker 1: really not that bad to do. So you can just
- 9:56Speaker 1: you know, throw on big ninety eight point seven and
- 9:57Speaker 1: do the dishes or whatever. But I mean, you know,
- 10:00Speaker 1: the dishes even though you already kind of do have
- 10:02Speaker 1: a robot for that, the dishwasher.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's not I hand washed, like I prefer
- 10:07Speaker 3: to do the dishes. But you know what Anusia I
- 10:09Speaker 3: think is how you say her name on Facebook? She said,
- 10:12Speaker 3: dusting great and that's something I didn't think about. I
- 10:16Speaker 3: might have to switchmen from laundry to dusting because A
- 10:19Speaker 3: I hate dusting and B I'm short, so it's hard
- 10:23Speaker 3: for me to get to Like I have to stand
- 10:25Speaker 3: on things to try to get the fan blades of
- 10:27Speaker 3: the ceiling.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Fan, and you know, those get dusty. I should actually
- 10:30Speaker 2: probably look and see what's going on there.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Yeah, right, but I'm sure.
- 10:33Speaker 3: And so the stuff where it's hard to reach, yes,
- 10:35Speaker 3: the robot will have extendo arms or whatever. Yeah, dusting
- 10:40Speaker 3: is a good one, Pauline said. Vacuum.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I like vacuum. I kind of like vacuuming too. It's
- 10:45Speaker 1: sort of cool to watch as you go it like
- 10:47Speaker 1: get cleaner and cleaner.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it's asmr.
- 10:50Speaker 1: It's kind of like mowing the lawn, you know, you
- 10:52Speaker 1: like see the progress you've made and yeah, the nice
- 10:55Speaker 1: grass versus the grass that's about to get cut.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, we have Joe on the phone, Joe
- 11:00Speaker 1: about you. What chore would you have a robot do
- 11:02Speaker 1: for you? Blondry. It just doesn't end.
- 11:05Speaker 2: The laundry is the biggest hassle in my house between me,
- 11:08Speaker 2: my wife.
- 11:09Speaker 1: And our three kids. It's just overwhelming. Sometimes three kids
- 11:13Speaker 1: of socks and underwear and jeans and shirts.
- 11:17Speaker 5: Oh man, that made my head hurt. I hate it. Benny, Benny,
- 11:27Speaker 5: what we have for you is sorry, not sorry. We
- 11:30Speaker 5: say the thing your thinking, but are too polite to say.
- 11:33Speaker 5: We die on the hill of controversial opinions. So you
- 11:37Speaker 5: don't have to, Angie, what do you feel the need
- 11:39Speaker 5: to get off your chest today?
- 11:41Speaker 3: Combined years of experience isn't a thing. Gabe has been
- 11:47Speaker 3: in radio for fifteen years. I've been in radio for
- 11:50Speaker 3: ten years. Together we have twenty five years of experience. Wrong,
- 11:55Speaker 3: the years were concurrent. You can't just add them together.
- 11:59Speaker 3: It drives me nuts. How can people say they have
- 12:01Speaker 3: a combined fifty years of experience but neither of them
- 12:04Speaker 3: is even fifty years old.
- 12:06Speaker 2: It doesn't make sense.
- 12:07Speaker 3: You can say you have quality X amount of years
- 12:10Speaker 3: of experience, but the selling point to me will never
- 12:13Speaker 3: be we have a combined fifty years of experience, because no,
- 12:16Speaker 3: you don't. The years overlapped. You're not fooling anyone. It
- 12:20Speaker 3: drives me in sea.
- 12:22Speaker 4: I've heard you talk about this before, Yes, I.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Mean this has been burning in my chest for some time.
- 12:28Speaker 3: So it was about time I brought it to Sorry
- 12:31Speaker 3: not sorry, Sorry, not sorry. You don't have a combined
- 12:34Speaker 3: seventy five years of experience.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Neither of you is seventy five? What are you talking about?
- 12:42Speaker 1: And there was a viral story of this brother and
- 12:44Speaker 1: sister who were getting ready to go on what they
- 12:47Speaker 1: thought was a vacation. And you know, the bags are packed,
- 12:51Speaker 1: they're at the airport. They took the days off from
- 12:54Speaker 1: where yep, all to find out that we had a
- 12:57Speaker 1: little oops of daisies. Whilst booking the tickets, someone selected
- 13:02Speaker 1: the year twenty twenty six when they wanted to actually
- 13:09Speaker 1: board the plane or what have you. So they had
- 13:11Speaker 1: a little accident. And now this has gone viral. If
- 13:14Speaker 1: my sister and I were going to take some vacation, yeah,
- 13:18Speaker 1: and I accidentally planned it one year further out than
- 13:22Speaker 1: the meant. I would never hear the end of that
- 13:26Speaker 1: vice versa. I would let my sister know about this vacation.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I'm not on every day until we got on the vacation.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it'd be like, oh, do you want to go
- 13:33Speaker 2: to dinner this year?
- 13:35Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 13:35Speaker 1: Right, make sure you book it for this Saturday seven
- 13:38Speaker 1: zero one two eight zero one nine eight seven has
- 13:40Speaker 1: there ever been like a little oopsie Daisy's or a
- 13:43Speaker 1: mishap while you were on vacation or with booking a vacation.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I haven't had anything horrid other than I have, Like
- 13:52Speaker 1: I have a bad habit of losing a wallet when
- 13:55Speaker 1: I'm on vacation.
- 13:56Speaker 2: While you're on the vacation, you use the wallet.
- 13:59Speaker 4: I have no I it's just like out of sight,
- 14:01Speaker 4: out of mind.
- 14:03Speaker 2: That's terrible.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really dumb. But thankfully I have always got
- 14:07Speaker 1: it back.
- 14:08Speaker 3: You're very blessed because I like that screws people up hard.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I have.
- 14:13Speaker 3: I booked the wrong flight for my mom to come visit,
- 14:18Speaker 3: and I didn't realize for like a week. Luckily it
- 14:21Speaker 3: was far enough out that when I looked at the
- 14:23Speaker 3: itinerary again, I was like that's not where she's going
- 14:26Speaker 3: or way, like what did I just do?
- 14:28Speaker 2: And so I had to rebook.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Thankfully it was on an airline where it was just like, yeah,
- 14:33Speaker 3: just change the flight, and I didn't like have to
- 14:35Speaker 3: lose the money.
- 14:36Speaker 2: But that's a bummer, Oh my gosh.
- 14:38Speaker 3: And so this brother and sister like I guess they're
- 14:40Speaker 3: just waiting, yeah, till next year.
- 14:43Speaker 1: To take it Yeah, what do you do? I suppose
- 14:45Speaker 1: you have to just wait right? Yeah?
- 14:46Speaker 3: Oh, I'd be so mad if I took the PTO
- 14:50Speaker 3: at work.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Yeah, they might let you cancel it though, you never know, right, but.
- 14:53Speaker 2: If they had to like work ahead or something.
- 14:55Speaker 3: I'd be so mad if I worked ahead and I
- 14:58Speaker 3: stressed myself out the week's leading up to it just
- 15:01Speaker 3: to not go on the train.
- 15:02Speaker 4: And then you're just so jacked.
- 15:04Speaker 1: You're like in vacation mode that last day of work,
- 15:08Speaker 1: trying to get all your stuff done, and then all
- 15:10Speaker 1: of a sudden, well, no vacation for you, right, and then.
- 15:13Speaker 3: It's like, we'll just book another one. No, I already
- 15:14Speaker 3: spent all the money on.
- 15:16Speaker 2: The first vacation, Alexa.
- 15:19Speaker 4: What happened to you with a messed up vacation?
- 15:22Speaker 3: A girls trip to Miami totally derailed when Gina booked
- 15:25Speaker 3: the wrong weekend and we ended up in a sweaty
- 15:27Speaker 3: storage unit instead.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Of a b side Airbnb.
- 15:31Speaker 2: The group chat has never forgiven her.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Yeah, you can't let that go.
- 15:35Speaker 3: He's not invited to any more Chaps.
- 15:45Speaker 1: There is a young man named Zachary Swain who surprised
- 15:49Speaker 1: his bride Hayley and her deaf parents by signing his
- 15:54Speaker 1: wedding vows in American Sign Language after secretly spending months.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Learning to sign.
- 16:00Speaker 1: The emotional moment was shared on social media, where the
- 16:03Speaker 1: video quickly went viral and Haley's parents had expected to
- 16:07Speaker 1: learn about the vows afterward, but were visibly touched to
- 16:10Speaker 1: be included in real time. And Zach's gesture didn't end there.
- 16:15Speaker 1: He also presented his ASL certificate to his new in
