- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I almost famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with our.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Radio It's almost famous podcast. We are sitting here at
- 0:07Speaker 2: the Bachelor Manasion. We are so pumped to have two
- 0:10Speaker 2: of my favorite people, actually two people I've traveled with,
- 0:12Speaker 2: two people I've slept with in the same room.
- 0:17Speaker 3: The great distinction, Yeah, very important distinction. We stayed in
- 0:21Speaker 3: the same room people I've slept in the same room,
- 0:24Speaker 3: in the same room, separate beds.
- 0:26Speaker 4: I think we were all surprised by that, having Shargah.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It wasn't something I expected, but it worked out great.
- 0:32Speaker 1: It was so much fun.
- 0:33Speaker 2: So I'm going to start with our Hawaii trip, okay,
- 0:36Speaker 2: because because there is something we need.
- 0:38Speaker 5: To talk about.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Uh.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I've heard through the grape Vines that on your podcast
- 0:44Speaker 2: it's a really good podcast.
- 0:48Speaker 1: That I'm being blamed for an injury that Dean currently has.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Somewhere else with that that we were talking about, I
- 0:57Speaker 3: know what I yeah, yes, yes, Ben, you hurt me.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Okay, So here's what happened during this trip. Dean Kaylin,
- 1:06Speaker 2: my wife and myself were in Hawaii. The reason that
- 1:08Speaker 2: Dean Kaling came because I love you, Jess loves you.
- 1:13Speaker 2: We had a trip to Hawaii planned with Hilton Grant Vacations,
- 1:16Speaker 2: and we're like, how fun would it be if Dean
- 1:18Speaker 2: Kaling can come?
- 1:18Speaker 1: And then you guys came and it was great.
- 1:21Speaker 2: But at night, here's the problem with traveling with jess
- 1:24Speaker 2: and I, and I understand this. Jessica and I are
- 1:27Speaker 2: very early to bed people, like we do not love
- 1:31Speaker 2: like late night bar sessions.
- 1:33Speaker 5: Which is why we knew we want to travel with
- 1:34Speaker 5: you guys because we are the same.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Yes we're the same Kaalen more so than me, but yes,
- 1:39Speaker 3: we're definitely early sleepers as well, especially on trips. Yeah,
- 1:42Speaker 3: so like it's really fun during the day, early mornings,
- 1:45Speaker 3: early nights. But we got back two different nights, but
- 1:49Speaker 3: one night in particular where we decided, let's play a game,
- 1:53Speaker 3: like games are fun. So Dean and I made up
- 1:56Speaker 3: this game where you didn't know you need all the
- 1:59Speaker 3: credit as you made up a game. So that's where
- 2:01Speaker 3: I think I have a differing opinion. But so I
- 2:06Speaker 3: made up this game where if you guessed the card
- 2:08Speaker 3: incorrectly so it was red or black in a deck
- 2:10Speaker 3: of cards, then then if you got it wrong, the
- 2:15Speaker 3: person that was the dealer got to pick a workout
- 2:18Speaker 3: that the other person had to do well. It started
- 2:20Speaker 3: off with push ups, so you would guess the color.
- 2:23Speaker 3: If you got it wrong, you had to do ten
- 2:24Speaker 3: push ups. And we after about two or three cards,
- 2:27Speaker 3: We're like.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I can't do it any more pushes. I'm exhausted. Yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 1: it's a lot of push ups.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I've done seventy push I've done seventy push ups in
- 2:35Speaker 2: twenty years.
- 2:36Speaker 5: I could use my arms for a week.
- 2:40Speaker 1: And so we started to go to jump squads.
- 2:43Speaker 3: And then the girls came in and we were like, guys,
- 2:46Speaker 3: our arms are noodles. What should we do? And then
- 2:49Speaker 3: I think you looked at them, just look back at you.
- 2:52Speaker 3: And somehow it got up to the point where it's like,
- 2:54Speaker 3: why don't you girls think of a workout for the
- 2:56Speaker 3: guy that doesn't get the card right?
- 2:58Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 2:58Speaker 5: Yeah, and uh.
- 3:00Speaker 2: And all of a sudden, a couple of weeks after
- 3:03Speaker 2: the vacation, Dean shows up on Instagram saying that he
- 3:06Speaker 2: has a hurt hip. He can't walk, he can't move,
- 3:08Speaker 2: he's absolutely in so much pain. And then there's a
- 3:12Speaker 2: clip of it being blamed on me. And so I
- 3:16Speaker 2: hired an attorney because I was away.
- 3:18Speaker 1: For a lawsuit. You're being served proactive.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I love the proactivity. So the question that came from
- 3:24Speaker 2: all this is how you feeling?
- 3:26Speaker 5: Well?
- 3:26Speaker 3: I just got an MRI on Monday. I got an
- 3:29Speaker 3: MRI ben you know what that is. That's when they
- 3:32Speaker 3: can't see anything wrong with that X ray, so they
- 3:34Speaker 3: have to send you to the MRI machine.
- 3:35Speaker 4: What does an MEMRI stand for?
- 3:37Speaker 5: Gosh, not even quick enough to think of what that
- 3:40Speaker 5: could possibly be. Do you know how how.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Do you know how awkward it is to be in
- 3:48Speaker 3: an MRI machine. You've tore an ACL, you've probably been
- 3:51Speaker 3: in one before.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I've been in MRIs. I've never felt awkward. I felt
- 3:54Speaker 2: very relaxed. There's no way to feel relaxed in an
- 3:57Speaker 2: MRI machine. It's the so so funny. I walked in
- 4:00Speaker 2: there and they're like, do you want to listen to music?
- 4:03Speaker 2: And I was like, could you put them on any football?
- 4:04Speaker 3: And they said no, you can put on music and
- 4:06Speaker 3: I said, okay, put on Coffee Shops Tunes. And I
- 4:10Speaker 3: was thinking, like, that's all I was going to hear
- 4:12Speaker 3: the entire time. They put on this Coffee Shop Tunes
- 4:14Speaker 3: volume out like a four, so it was very loud
- 4:16Speaker 3: and then the machine the entire time is just making
- 4:18Speaker 3: these insane noises, non stop insane noises, and I'm like,
- 4:23Speaker 3: what's the point in music. I can't even hear what's
- 4:25Speaker 3: going on Anyways, I'll have to say, I don't know
- 4:28Speaker 3: what's wrong with the hip. It is the most agonizing
- 4:30Speaker 3: pain of my entire life. It hurts more now than
- 4:33Speaker 3: it did when I broke it initially. And the only
- 4:36Speaker 3: person I can think to blame in this entire situations you,
- 4:39Speaker 3: so thank.
- 4:39Speaker 5: You very much for that it hurts.
- 4:43Speaker 3: It hurts, I will say, to your credit, to your credit,
- 4:45Speaker 3: you're You're such a nice guy.
- 4:47Speaker 5: You're so loving.
- 4:48Speaker 3: You've texted me once a week and you've checked in
- 4:50Speaker 3: with me how's the hip doing? And I appreciate that.
- 4:55Speaker 3: You know, just because you're the cause of it doesn't
- 4:57Speaker 3: mean that you have to forget about me. So I
- 4:58Speaker 3: appreciate you at least.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Being I appreciate you.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Karen.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah, if I was in prison for this, I'd still
- 5:04Speaker 2: be texting you. So this hip comes from a past
- 5:08Speaker 2: story obviously that people very know very well. You broke
- 5:12Speaker 2: your hip when you were skiing in Switzerland, and Kaylan
- 5:14Speaker 2: was so sweet to come out and obviously stay with
- 5:17Speaker 2: you in your hospital room as you recovered, because you
- 5:20Speaker 2: were obviously this is a big deal, and you just
- 5:23Speaker 2: think this is something that's happened based on that injury
- 5:25Speaker 2: years ago.
- 5:26Speaker 5: So I was asking the doctor.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I was like, worst case scenario, what's like the absolute
- 5:29Speaker 3: worst case scenario? And he said necrosis is the worst
- 5:32Speaker 3: case scenario, okay, And I was like, okay, yep, that's
- 5:35Speaker 3: what that means.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Your blood is not getting to the right places.
- 5:38Speaker 3: So the reason I got the surgery in Switzerland, and
- 5:41Speaker 3: it's so it's messed up because I was hopped up
- 5:43Speaker 3: on painkillers and they, which makes sense, like you they
- 5:47Speaker 3: give you pain killers so you can get to the
- 5:48Speaker 3: hospital and then you're at the hospital and then give
- 5:50Speaker 3: you your diagnosis, but you're gonna be hopped up on painkillers
- 5:53Speaker 3: while they give your diagnosis. And I was the only
- 5:55Speaker 3: person there, so I was the only person. I could
- 5:57Speaker 3: speak for myself.
- 5:58Speaker 4: But why would you say no to the surgery?
- 6:00Speaker 3: I it's so annoying. I wish I could have said
- 6:03Speaker 3: no to the What would you have done? Just so
- 6:05Speaker 3: what they said was you're at risk to suffer from necrosis,
- 6:09Speaker 3: which is if there's and I'm going to butcher this.
- 6:11Speaker 5: I'm no doctor.
- 6:12Speaker 3: If there's a fracture in a bone, the fracture could
- 6:15Speaker 3: let blood into the bone and then it like deteriates
- 6:18Speaker 3: the blone from the bone from the inside or something
- 6:20Speaker 3: like that. And what they wanted to do was drill
- 6:22Speaker 3: into the bone to heal the fracture, essentially to not
- 6:26Speaker 3: let any outside organisms into the fracture. And I know,
- 6:30Speaker 3: there's this's just not right, but that's that's what I
- 6:33Speaker 3: remember it being. At least it sounds right and so,
- 6:36Speaker 3: but in my head, I wish I would have just
- 6:38Speaker 3: been like, reset my hip, put it back in the socket,
- 6:40Speaker 3: let the bone figure itself out. So what they did
- 6:42Speaker 3: was they put five screws in there and put a
- 6:44Speaker 3: plate in there. Anyways, all this to say, so I
- 6:46Speaker 3: asked the doctor, what's the worst case scenario? You said, necrosis?
- 6:49Speaker 3: And I said, Okay, what's the What do I do
- 6:51Speaker 3: if I have necrosis? Amputation? He goes, no, it's a
- 6:53Speaker 3: hip replacement. And I was like, oh, can you just
- 6:56Speaker 3: replace my hip now? Like that doesn't sound so bad.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Hip replacements comes such a long way. You could be
- 7:01Speaker 3: walking out of the hospital that same day a.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Big hip replacement.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I'm so pro hip replacing.
- 7:09Speaker 5: It's disgusting.
- 7:10Speaker 3: So yeah, so that's that's worst case scenario, which really
- 7:13Speaker 3: isn't that bad of a scenario, but yeah, there's agonizing
- 7:17Speaker 3: pain every every So what I've done is I've kept
- 7:20Speaker 3: a log of the food that I've eaten, because what
- 7:22Speaker 3: I think it is is a circulation issue. So if
- 7:25Speaker 3: I eat red meat, it's particularly like Deli meats like
- 7:28Speaker 3: slammy pepperoni. Every time I go to Subway or go
- 7:31Speaker 3: to Jimmy John's or Jersey Mikes, and I eat my
- 7:33Speaker 3: Italian sandwichich I love so much. My leg an hour
- 7:36Speaker 3: later is just throbbing, an intense pain, and I'm like
- 7:40Speaker 3: so inconsolable. Calin's like, what can I need to help?
- 7:43Speaker 3: I'm like, just get away from me. I don't eat
- 7:46Speaker 3: anyone around me. Give me my ibuprofin. And so that's
- 7:50Speaker 3: what I'm dealing with. But I think I've managed it
- 7:52Speaker 3: a little bit better with my food intake, like I'm
- 7:54Speaker 3: only eating greens and chicken.
- 7:56Speaker 4: And we should find out tomorrow too about the MRI results.
- 7:58Speaker 5: I should have found out like two days ago. I
- 8:00Speaker 5: thought it's kind of frustrating that that's taken something.
- 8:03Speaker 2: You know, if they give you a hip replacement, you
- 8:04Speaker 2: can actually ask them to give you an inch and height.
- 8:08Speaker 5: Oh.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I thought I was gonna say inch somewhere else, and
- 8:09Speaker 3: I was way more excited about just.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Get taller shorter. We're thinking about you. I have been
- 8:25Speaker 2: worried about it.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I know it was a tangent that you didn't want
- 8:27Speaker 1: to go I did.
- 8:29Speaker 4: We're in a group text of just been Dean and
- 8:32Speaker 4: myself and Ben texted was like, how's it going? And
- 8:34Speaker 4: I almost texted back and was like, we lost the
- 8:37Speaker 4: house and I thought you were talking about the house.
- 8:39Speaker 4: I would have been mortified. And then Dean text He's.
- 8:41Speaker 5: Like, honestly might have been.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I just turned texted.
- 8:45Speaker 4: He's like, get the next right, and I was like,
- 8:47Speaker 4: I would have been so embarrassed if I updates.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Wait for the record, I might be embarrassed now for
- 8:53Speaker 3: making it about me instead of making it about that.
- 8:55Speaker 2: It's definitely about you, because I've been texting on the
- 8:57Speaker 2: side too. Yeah, okay, so you just mentioned that house.
- 9:00Speaker 2: You guys have been kind of dabbling in the idea
- 9:04Speaker 2: of moving.
- 9:05Speaker 4: To Colorado will be your neighbors.
- 9:07Speaker 2: And so this is now semi official kind of getting closed.
- 9:11Speaker 2: You're looking more in the Aspen region, which is like
- 9:14Speaker 2: two and a half hours from Jessica and myself, and
- 9:16Speaker 2: we've been so excited for you guys to find a place.
- 9:20Speaker 1: How's that going.
- 9:21Speaker 4: It's good. We close in about two to three weeks,
- 9:25Speaker 4: and so I'm not allowing my I was so excited,
- 9:28Speaker 4: like just so giddy and so ready to get out there.
- 9:32Speaker 4: I'm not allowing myself to be excited until like the
- 9:34Speaker 4: papers are signed as our home. But we are very
- 9:37Speaker 4: very close, closer than we've been. We've been under contract
- 9:39Speaker 4: three times now, we have I have fallen in love
- 9:43Speaker 4: with ten homes at this point.
- 9:45Speaker 5: So what it would it take for us not to
- 9:46Speaker 5: get the house at this point?
- 9:47Speaker 4: Because that's what whenever you put some little ideas into
- 9:51Speaker 4: my head that kind of freaked me out.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Well because people ask this question, like Ben just asked,
- 9:54Speaker 3: and I always say, we're like literally in the latter
- 9:58Speaker 3: stages of ceiling, like we've.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Done everything, like we just have to wait until the
- 10:03Speaker 4: date and it closes.
- 10:04Speaker 3: And this is for me to understand too, like what
- 10:06Speaker 3: is it what would it take for it not to close?
- 10:07Speaker 5: I don't know, maybe they.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Not give us our loan. I think that's the only
- 10:10Speaker 4: thing at this point. But like we've been preapproved there
- 10:13Speaker 4: at the very end stages of the loan.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Process, you can still pull out.
- 10:17Speaker 4: What that's what that it's what he said.
- 10:20Speaker 3: But in Colorado, even I don't know, Colorado is very
- 10:22Speaker 3: buyer friendly according to our real estate A. Wow, you're
- 10:25Speaker 3: still we trust him.
- 10:27Speaker 2: I think you guys are good. So Colorado is the
- 10:29Speaker 2: new home. Are you excited about this?
- 10:31Speaker 4: Oh? I'm so excited?
- 10:32Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:32Speaker 2: So, I mean, I know Dean is excited because this
- 10:35Speaker 2: is kind of where he grew up. It's obviously a
- 10:36Speaker 2: place that he knows well. He has friends there, he
- 10:38Speaker 2: has familiarity with it. Kaitlyn, this is not a place
- 10:41Speaker 2: that you've ever lived. It's it's not remote. I mean,
- 10:44Speaker 2: it's right on the main highway and you have Aspen there,
- 10:47Speaker 2: and you have some other big cities.
- 10:48Speaker 1: You know, Veil's not that far away. This is a
- 10:51Speaker 1: big move.
- 10:52Speaker 2: This is uh away from you know a lot of
- 10:55Speaker 2: the things you've ever known. How are you feeling about it?
- 10:58Speaker 4: I'm excited. Uh. I think it was a good move
- 11:01Speaker 4: us moving to Vegas and figuring out if we can
- 11:05Speaker 4: leave La, like leave our friends, leave our life in La.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Because Vegas in La it's a thirty minute flight, it's
- 11:11Speaker 4: a four hour drive. So like, gradually leaving LA has
- 11:15Speaker 4: been really good and now I'm so ready to be there. Also,
- 11:18Speaker 4: we knew no one in Vegas aside from my grandparents.
- 11:20Speaker 4: We had zero friends, And now that we're leaving, I've
- 11:23Speaker 4: like started to be like put myself out there a
- 11:24Speaker 4: little bit more and make friends. So I'm excited to
- 11:26Speaker 4: move to a new place and put myself out there
- 11:29Speaker 4: kind of immediately and find that core group. But then
- 11:32Speaker 4: we also have you guys. You're not like next door neighbors,
- 11:34Speaker 4: but you are close enough where we can do weekend
- 11:37Speaker 4: trips ski trips.
- 11:39Speaker 2: It's like, I mean that's what Colora does, right, Yeah,
- 11:41Speaker 2: Like the weekends are in the mountains and so it's
- 11:43Speaker 2: not like crazy. I think two and a half hours
- 11:45Speaker 2: right to spend time together. Colorado is a great place
- 11:48Speaker 2: to live. You're gonna love it. I knew nobody when
- 11:51Speaker 2: I moved out there, and it is like the coolest
- 11:53Speaker 2: spot if you let it be.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Okay, now we're going to transition wildly to a.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Few things as we close this episode. I want to
- 12:01Speaker 2: touch on two different subjects. The first one is marriage.
- 12:04Speaker 2: You guys are now married. Your wedding was absolutely fantastic.
- 12:08Speaker 2: You've talked about it a bajillion times, there's pictures. It
- 12:10Speaker 2: was amazing. So now that you're a married couple, what
- 12:13Speaker 2: is your favorite thing about Dean calin Oh, it's hard
- 12:17Speaker 2: for her.
- 12:17Speaker 5: To think about that.
- 12:18Speaker 4: I love his blonde hair.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Okay, if that's the only thing that you got to go,
- 12:24Speaker 3: it's real bad.
- 12:25Speaker 5: In that case.
- 12:28Speaker 4: My favorite thing about Dean since being married. Not a
- 12:30Speaker 4: lot has changed since being married, I will say the
- 12:33Speaker 4: first couple weeks after, like seeing him go from saying
- 12:37Speaker 4: like I'll never get married. I don't want to get married.
- 12:40Speaker 4: I want nothing to do with it. So then right
- 12:41Speaker 4: after the wedding, talking to you, talking to Josh, talking
- 12:45Speaker 4: to like our friends who are married, and and just
- 12:47Speaker 4: sharing with me and our other friends, just like how
- 12:50Speaker 4: much he loves marriage and how great it is to
- 12:51Speaker 4: have a wife, and the way that he says he
- 12:54Speaker 4: loves me, whether it's to my face or through friends.
- 12:56Speaker 4: And I hear it to their great friends. It's very
- 12:58Speaker 4: nice to hear.
- 12:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:00Speaker 4: So he's so handy, he can build anything. This guy
- 13:02Speaker 4: and this is great for you. To me, now, this
- 13:05Speaker 4: is great for you because he.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Can fix anything. Over there, his eyes are glistening.
- 13:10Speaker 4: He's like, oh my, he can fix anything. He can
- 13:14Speaker 4: build anything. He's so talented. And it's I don't know
- 13:19Speaker 4: if I told you this, but my friend Lauren, one
- 13:21Speaker 4: of my best friends, she lived, she moved to Virginia
- 13:23Speaker 4: right when I moved out of Virginia, and I remember
- 13:25Speaker 4: I went to visit her and her husband and she's like, Yeah,
- 13:28Speaker 4: Matt's gonna build me this. Matt's going to build me this.
- 13:29Speaker 4: And I remember like walking to her home, like I'm
- 13:32Speaker 4: kind of envious that you have this guy who can
- 13:33Speaker 4: just like build anything for you. And then she came
- 13:36Speaker 4: to the wedding, She's like, do you remember saying that
- 13:37Speaker 4: to me? And now you have exactly what you were
- 13:40Speaker 4: once envious of me for talented.
- 13:42Speaker 2: When we were in Hawaii, he'd walk past tables and
- 13:44Speaker 2: be like, I like that tip, I could build it.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Yeah, everything that ring light over there, Yeah I could
- 13:50Speaker 3: probably build that.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Dean, what's your favorite thing about Kaylen as a.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Married man versus an unmade man?
- 13:56Speaker 3: Just like over the last few months, I think marriage
- 14:01Speaker 3: is great because I there's so many things that are
- 14:06Speaker 3: great about marriage, but it's nice to know that, like
- 14:10Speaker 3: even if you're at your worst and you're not doing
- 14:13Speaker 3: your best. Like I go through fits a depression so
- 14:16Speaker 3: my frequently and it's not like diagnosed, and I'm not
- 14:18Speaker 3: medicated for anything like that, but I just like know
- 14:20Speaker 3: that I go through my ups and downs as a
- 14:21Speaker 3: human being. It's nice to know that during my downs,
- 14:24Speaker 3: I can uh not have to worry about like someone
- 14:28Speaker 3: like leaving me, I guess, And so it's like a
- 14:31Speaker 3: kind of a selfish way of describing that, but like
- 14:33Speaker 3: it's nice to know that during your deepest deeps you
- 14:35Speaker 3: can know that, like eventually, when you're back at your
- 14:39Speaker 3: highs again, everything will be fine and stand to where
- 14:42Speaker 3: they could be. And the only reason I like gravitate
- 14:46Speaker 3: towards as because I'm going through a fit of depression
- 14:48Speaker 3: in the moment, like over the past few days, I
- 14:50Speaker 3: guess you could say, so that's like top of mind.
- 14:53Speaker 3: But it's just nice to know that, you know, because
- 14:55Speaker 3: typically when you're single, and you're even if you're dating
- 14:57Speaker 3: or just fully single, if you're in a bad space,
- 15:00Speaker 3: you can feel really like on an island and you're
- 15:02Speaker 3: totally alone. You're scared to even verbally express that you're
- 15:07Speaker 3: depressed because you don't know how the other person's gonna react.
- 15:10Speaker 5: But when you're married, you can just.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Say that and be like listen, like I'm just going
- 15:14Speaker 3: through something right now, and it's nice to know that
- 15:16Speaker 3: if you're going through something, that person like is legally
- 15:19Speaker 3: obligated to stand.
- 15:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Well, it's interesting because Jess and I have been We've
- 15:32Speaker 2: gone to couples therapy since the like really the week
- 15:35Speaker 2: we got married. Like it's We've always said we want
- 15:38Speaker 2: couples therapy to be a consistent and not be the
- 15:40Speaker 2: thing that saves our marriage or has to like fix us.
- 15:43Speaker 2: So it's just like now a rhythm for us. And
- 15:46Speaker 2: last week was the first time where I was sitting
- 15:47Speaker 2: there and we were talking through stuff, and I was like,
- 15:49Speaker 2: I'm a really hard person to be married too, Oh sure,
- 15:52Speaker 2: Like I'm really tough, Like I my mind swirls in
- 15:56Speaker 2: a thousand different directions. My highes are really high, my
- 15:58Speaker 2: lows are really low. Sometimes I don't even know what
- 16:01Speaker 2: I'm feeling or thinking at the time. And so I
- 16:04Speaker 2: say all this to say, like I think Kaylen and
- 16:06Speaker 2: just share the same quality or like the cool part
- 16:09Speaker 2: of that for me is when I'm going through it,
- 16:12Speaker 2: I'm I'm still wanting to be a good husband, I guess,
- 16:17Speaker 2: but I don't worry that Jess is like going to bounce, yeah,
- 16:21Speaker 2: like or make it harder on me or be like
- 16:23Speaker 2: snap out of it, like get better now, right Like
- 16:26Speaker 2: she's like, no, I'm in it with you, and so
- 16:28Speaker 2: like there is that comfort, and it obviously has made
- 16:30Speaker 2: those like seasons of like really high highs and really
- 16:33Speaker 2: lot lows easier because I don't have to worry that
- 16:37Speaker 2: I'm going to end up being alone and all that.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it's tough for me because up until now, and granted,
- 16:43Speaker 3: like I felt this amount of comfort before our marriage,
- 16:46Speaker 3: so like it's hard to say since being married, because
- 16:48Speaker 3: it's always we felt like we've been lifelong partners for
- 16:51Speaker 3: three years or a year and half in a relationship
- 16:55Speaker 3: starting from then. It's hard to say that since marriage.
- 16:57Speaker 3: But it's like, I agree with you, you don't want
- 17:00Speaker 3: to share those like negative aspects because you're worried about
- 17:04Speaker 3: the repercussions of them, And I mean, look, everything you
- 17:09Speaker 3: just said about yourself and Jess is so true for
- 17:11Speaker 3: us too, like I am so unlovable in so many ways,
- 17:14Speaker 3: and I know you say that a lot too, but
- 17:15Speaker 3: like there are so many things that like Kaylin's like
- 17:18Speaker 3: you're doing this wrong and you're doing that wrong, and
- 17:19Speaker 3: I'm like, you're absolutely right, and that sucks of me
- 17:23Speaker 3: to do. And we even just had this argument yesterday
- 17:25Speaker 3: where I was like, instinctually like that's just who I
- 17:28Speaker 3: am and I could try to change it, but I
- 17:30Speaker 3: don't think that I can go through every day remembering
- 17:34Speaker 3: to do that thing that you want me to do,
- 17:35Speaker 3: and so I can't promise you that I can do
- 17:37Speaker 3: that all the time. And so like I just I can't,
- 17:41Speaker 3: and it makes me feel guilty because I'm like I
- 17:45Speaker 3: need to be this person that she wants me to be,
- 17:47Speaker 3: but I don't think I can be. And I want
- 17:49Speaker 3: to try to be because I love her so much,
- 17:51Speaker 3: but it's just, yeah, it's crazy.
- 17:52Speaker 5: It's a crazy challenge.
- 17:53Speaker 3: But like you said too, and like we have kind
- 17:55Speaker 3: of already talked about, is like, yes, it's great to
- 17:57Speaker 3: be married because whether she likes it or not, she
- 18:01Speaker 3: has to be part of this.
- 18:02Speaker 2: And they're both a type of person that, like you know,
- 18:05Speaker 2: they also oddly want to be a part of our lives. Yeah,
- 18:08Speaker 2: she's like super weird to me that, Like, ess every
- 18:10Speaker 2: morning is like, I'm so excited to be married to you,
- 18:12Speaker 2: and Kaitlyn's like I'm so excited to be married to Dean,
- 18:14Speaker 2: and I'm like, I don't know why. Oh yeah, I
- 18:16Speaker 2: have no idea why, but I'm so happy you're here.
- 18:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:19Speaker 3: No, it's nice. It's definitely. It's it's great. Marriage is awesome,
- 18:21Speaker 3: id it.
- 18:23Speaker 4: I do think that just like being able to talk
- 18:25Speaker 4: about couples therapy is huge because people are so willing
- 18:30Speaker 4: to shy away from that and people do think it's
- 18:32Speaker 4: a fix. It's like you only go to couples therapy
- 18:34Speaker 4: if it is, yeah, like you have to fix infidelity
- 18:37Speaker 4: or whatever it is, or like a big issue in
- 18:38Speaker 4: your relationship. And I think it's great to talk about,
- 18:41Speaker 4: like there are such positives to come from it. And
- 18:43Speaker 4: a friend of mine started it in right before they
- 18:46Speaker 4: were getting married. They did marriage counseling and it helped
- 18:48Speaker 4: them so much communicate that they still do it to
- 18:51Speaker 4: this day. And I think that's something that I wish
- 18:53Speaker 4: couples would talk more about where it's not a shameful thing.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Like people talk about therapy all the time, but talking
- 18:57Speaker 4: about couples therapy kind of has this like.
- 19:01Speaker 3: It and even this like it doesn't have to like
- 19:03Speaker 3: a it doesn't have to be a therapist, Like when
- 19:04Speaker 3: Ben's around her, when friends are around, I feel like
- 19:07Speaker 3: there's like an intermediary. Like I feel like I just
- 19:08Speaker 3: told Ben things and you things about us that I
- 19:11Speaker 3: haven't been able to express verbally to you individually, you
- 19:15Speaker 3: know what I mean. So like just to have someone
- 19:16Speaker 3: else to like like placate the conversation too, is so helpful.
- 19:21Speaker 5: So I agree. Super pro therapy.
- 19:24Speaker 2: And not making it weird, so it's never weird, Like
- 19:26Speaker 2: if you do it so often so much and you
- 19:28Speaker 2: talk about it, it's never weird. It's not like just
- 19:30Speaker 2: calls me next week and she's like, hey, I think
- 19:31Speaker 2: we need to go a therapy next week and I'm like, ohay, cool, yeah,
- 19:34Speaker 2: Like it's not like what's happening in our life. It's
- 19:36Speaker 2: like no, like we haven't been in a bit. We
- 19:38Speaker 2: need to talk through some stuff that we need another
- 19:41Speaker 2: voice of wisdom there because you and I aren't like
- 19:43Speaker 2: necessarily smart enough or like wise enough or like seasoned
- 19:49Speaker 2: enough in marriage to know what is best next.
- 19:52Speaker 3: The hardest part about therapy to me is just getting
- 19:54Speaker 3: in the car and driving to therapy. That's fine, but
- 19:56Speaker 3: I agree, like from a psychological standpoint, amazing. And I
- 20:00Speaker 3: agree too, like it's it's tough to like stomach the
- 20:03Speaker 3: idea that your relationship needs therapy quote unquote, But it's
- 20:06Speaker 3: not that it needs therapy.
- 20:07Speaker 4: It's just like you could, every relationship does, just like
- 20:09Speaker 4: every person does. It's in Yeah, I just want to
- 20:12Speaker 4: shame behind it to go away. And I feel like
- 20:13Speaker 4: shame behind therapy has gone away because people talk about it.
- 20:16Speaker 4: But breaking that barrier between like relationship therapy couple's therapy hasn't.
- 20:21Speaker 4: We haven't figured that one.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Outs a lot.
- 20:23Speaker 3: It's tough for me too, because I know we're tangenting
- 20:26Speaker 3: here a little bit. It's tough for me because I've
- 20:28Speaker 3: been I've learned through life to withdraw, so like if
- 20:33Speaker 3: something goes bad, I just withdraw and I just stay
- 20:35Speaker 3: silent and I just don't say anything. And a lot
- 20:37Speaker 3: of people are, I feel like, are in that kind
- 20:39Speaker 3: of same boat. And so when we get an argument,
- 20:41Speaker 3: Kaylin and I, all I want to do is take
- 20:43Speaker 3: my time and be by myself. And how she experiences
- 20:47Speaker 3: it is like, oh, he's like shunning me out, he's
- 20:49Speaker 3: pushing me away. But how I'm experiencing is like, no,
- 20:52Speaker 3: I just like need this time for myself to recharge
- 20:54Speaker 3: and like be alone. And it's just perceived so differently
- 20:57Speaker 3: from both perspectives, and it's just it. It can be
- 21:00Speaker 3: a challenge sometimes, but like I don't know you.
- 21:03Speaker 2: And I spend a lot of time single too, so
- 21:05Speaker 2: that's always something you remember. Is like you and I
- 21:07Speaker 2: both even though we dated, but like you and I
- 21:09Speaker 2: got really used to being alone.
- 21:11Speaker 3: And there's I mean, listen, I love Kaitlyn to death.
- 21:14Speaker 3: I would do anything for her, but there's no person.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Maybe this isn't the right thing to say, but there's
- 21:19Speaker 3: no person in this world that I love more than myself.
- 21:23Speaker 3: And I love you so much, don't get me wrong,
- 21:25Speaker 3: comfortable with don't get don't get me wrong. I love
- 21:27Speaker 3: you so much and I would do anything for you.
- 21:30Speaker 3: And it's not that I'm not saying like I wouldn't.
- 21:32Speaker 3: I literally would probably die for you. But like I
- 21:37Speaker 3: know myself so well and I'm so comfortable with myself
- 21:40Speaker 3: because I've spent so much time with myself and just
- 21:42Speaker 3: being alone and just like spending time with me that
- 21:45Speaker 3: like sometimes when I just need to recharge and and
- 21:48Speaker 3: and get back to it a level of like being
- 21:50Speaker 3: comfortable being around people is like I just need to
- 21:52Speaker 3: be alone.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I think that's what it is. It's like I don't
- 21:55Speaker 2: that's just I don't know. You and I both are similar.
- 21:58Speaker 2: We both I just got really used to being single.
- 22:02Speaker 2: And so like there's many days where I go watch
- 22:04Speaker 2: TV alone or I go for a walk alone.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Yeah, there are so many times where I'm I'm traveling
- 22:11Speaker 3: or I'm just alone and I'll my brain goes somewhere
- 22:14Speaker 3: and it just like it feels so weird, but at
- 22:17Speaker 3: the same time, it feels so right. And you just
- 22:19Speaker 3: can't get there by being with anybody else because they
- 22:22Speaker 3: take your brain out of that mindset.
- 22:24Speaker 5: Sometimes I'm not smart enough to.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Do too many things at once, and so I've got
- 22:28Speaker 2: to be in like a one path mind. Okay, as
- 22:31Speaker 2: we close here, I do want to give whoever you
- 22:34Speaker 2: think is the best salesperson for this, talk about your podcast,
