- 0:00Speaker 1: Mister New York Mark Simone.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Well, let's talk to La Dean himself. Ed Rollins has
- 0:09Speaker 2: run the most successful campaigns in the history of American politics,
- 0:13Speaker 2: and he's with us now, Ed Rollins, how you doing.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Good morning, Mark you I'm good to go.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Yeah. So turnout now reported to be five hundred percent
- 0:23Speaker 2: above usual turnout. What does that mean?
- 0:27Speaker 1: This is great, great animosity towards Mondomi by older voters
- 0:32Speaker 1: and great enthusiasm by younger voters. So he's exactly what
- 0:36Speaker 1: it says. People are out there turning out voting early,
- 0:39Speaker 1: and I think to a certain extent it could be
- 0:42Speaker 1: a record turnout.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah. Is this good? This early voting? People voting. You
- 0:46Speaker 2: know a lot of people like might have missed some
- 0:48Speaker 2: of the things that are developing this week. Should there
- 0:50Speaker 2: be this much early.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Yeah? I think both sides. You're trying to get the
- 0:55Speaker 1: early voting because obviously a part of why Trump lost
- 0:59Speaker 1: the first the second time when he was running for
- 1:02Speaker 1: election was because they didn't do as much focus on
- 1:04Speaker 1: early voting. It's very much a part of the game today,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and in the city like this, particularly where there's no
- 1:11Speaker 1: statewide organization in here, getting getting volunteers to go out
- 1:16Speaker 1: turn on the vote is important. So I always tell
- 1:20Speaker 1: people whenever you get your ballot, whenever you're ready to vote,
- 1:22Speaker 1: go vote. Don't delay it. Now.
- 1:26Speaker 2: You gotta remember we got the Democratic candidate, and Curtis
- 1:29Speaker 2: is the Republican candidate. Cuavo is a third party candidate.
- 1:33Speaker 2: You ran third party is well, you ran the most
- 1:36Speaker 2: successful third party campaign in history, the Ross Bureau campaign.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Uh well, would have been more successful if Trump, if
- 1:44Speaker 1: prol would have stayed in the race. You know, he
- 1:46Speaker 1: dropped out and came back again. But anyways, there's there's
- 1:50Speaker 1: certainly in this This is very Democrat city obviously, and
- 1:54Speaker 1: I think to a certain extent DOMMI having the Democrat
- 1:58Speaker 1: nomination and the mine is very important to find Cromo,
- 2:03Speaker 1: and you look at your ballot, it is a good
- 2:06Speaker 1: have c ballants. I mean Clomo's way buried. Didn't see that.
- 2:10Speaker 1: He'll find him. Yeah, and you still have you still
- 2:12Speaker 1: have the mayor and mayors. Even though he's dropped out,
- 2:15Speaker 1: he's still there, so he'll get some votes. But right
- 2:19Speaker 1: now it's clear it's it's a close race. It's ten
- 2:21Speaker 1: points what the latest pools show. That's probably what the
- 2:23Speaker 1: private poll show, and that's a competitive race. Yeah.
- 2:26Speaker 2: The only thing I don't think that we're looking at
- 2:29Speaker 2: these junk polls, these college polls, media polls, public polls.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I don't think there's any actual internal polling being done.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Clomo's not spending the money, Curtis isn't So how do
- 2:37Speaker 2: we really know.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Well, we won't know til elections there today. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I mean I agree totally with you. There's too there's
- 2:46Speaker 1: too much, too much polling and it's not accurately put together.
- 2:51Speaker 1: This is the city, Tell tell me where the votes are.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Tell me where Clmo's votes are. Is Colman doing well
- 2:55Speaker 1: in Staten Island? They're not doing well in Staten Island.
- 2:57Speaker 1: It's doing well in Staten Island. Then he's got his
- 3:00Speaker 1: or his base covered. But older voters clearly will be
- 3:02Speaker 1: a coma voters, and young voters are clearly going to
- 3:04Speaker 1: be Mondammi's voters. Yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 2: So if you guy like Coloma and you're ten points
- 3:08Speaker 2: behind and you got one week left, what do you
- 3:11Speaker 2: do that final week? How do you how do you
- 3:13Speaker 2: handle that?
- 3:13Speaker 1: Well? You get your ass out there in campaign. You know,
- 3:18Speaker 1: he's got some negative commercials, but there's not much selling him.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I think to a certain extent, people got parly little
- 3:26Speaker 1: may of Copa know how to do the job. I've
- 3:28Speaker 1: seen very few of his commercials. I've seen tons of
- 3:31Speaker 1: Homi's commercials that whole.
- 3:34Speaker 2: He's never managed anything, he's never run a large organization.
- 3:37Speaker 2: How effective is that with voters?
- 3:40Speaker 1: Doesn't mean any means something to the older voters. You know,
- 3:43Speaker 1: if you're if you're going to fix some of those
- 3:46Speaker 1: manages you picked the mayor. The mayor just finished still
- 3:49Speaker 1: managing trying to manage the city, and certainly Calmo did.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Colman didn't end on a high note. So I think
- 3:55Speaker 1: to a certain extent, you know, it's it's two personalities.
- 3:59Speaker 1: It's it's it's the danger of the young guy who's
- 4:02Speaker 1: claims to be a socialist in the old guard, the
- 4:05Speaker 1: old guard throughly the young versus the old guard.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Hey, the idea of Cuomo running. Have you ever seen
- 4:11Speaker 2: this before? Where a guy leaves office in disgrace and scandal,
- 4:14Speaker 2: it's a total disaster, and then five minutes later he's
- 4:16Speaker 2: running again. Have you ever seen that before?
- 4:19Speaker 1: It's happened. It's not the actual pattern to get the like,
- 4:24Speaker 1: But you know, I think my disappointment in Clomo is
- 4:27Speaker 1: that you know, he's run campaigns, he knows thees, the
- 4:31Speaker 1: city will, he knows the steavewell and yet he's run
- 4:33Speaker 1: kind of a mediocre campaign. And the idea that you
- 4:35Speaker 1: take time off when you get on a race late
- 4:38Speaker 1: is you know, ten days he didn't campaign at all
- 4:40Speaker 1: is systems shirt.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Yeah. And the idea of pushing Curtis out of the race, Now,
- 4:44Speaker 2: you ran the biggest third party campaign rossbro. Were they
- 4:47Speaker 2: trying to do that? Were they trying to push him
- 4:49Speaker 2: out of the race back then?
- 4:51Speaker 1: Absolutely? But they do it aren't successful. They put a
- 4:55Speaker 1: lot of a lot of pressure on me, but at
- 4:58Speaker 1: the end of the day did back.
- 5:00Speaker 2: And the same thing like the big big money donors
- 5:03Speaker 2: all get ganging.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Up doesn't mean anything. I mean, you know, if you
- 5:09Speaker 1: think Mondamini's people are going to go drop out of
- 5:13Speaker 1: the race for go vote for some miles because big
- 5:15Speaker 1: big money guys are in there is just the opposite.
- 5:17Speaker 1: That's that's their message to the messages that big big
- 5:20Speaker 1: money guys aren't going to run the city.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, Ed Rollins. Nobody has seen more campaigns
- 5:25Speaker 2: more racist than you. You got more experience than anybody
- 5:27Speaker 2: at this stuff. Is it possible the polls have just
- 5:30Speaker 2: gotten this entirely wrong.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I wouldn't say they got it totally wrong. I would
- 5:35Speaker 1: say that there's momentum going now towards towards Como that
- 5:38Speaker 1: may alter the race. You always got to remember polls
- 5:41Speaker 1: are four or five point off just simply by the
- 5:46Speaker 1: the statistics. So the race could be almost even now
- 5:51Speaker 1: I would I'm not predicting that, but I think I think,
- 5:53Speaker 1: I think to a certain extent, CLMO cmos still as
- 5:57Speaker 1: a shot.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Yeah, Now there is this certain amount of cheating, and
- 6:02Speaker 2: even the Democrats will acknowledge that, you know, a little
- 6:04Speaker 2: funny business with the machines that they'll argue it's only
- 6:06Speaker 2: one percent or two percent, But could that make a
- 6:09Speaker 2: difference because that helped mom Donnie.
- 6:11Speaker 1: One or two percent can make a difference. Yeah, it
- 6:14Speaker 1: comes down that close. Very My sense is he's the
- 6:18Speaker 1: question now is he's certainly leadings to a ten point
- 6:20Speaker 1: lead the most recent public pool, the suffect pool. But
- 6:25Speaker 1: is that is that going to is going to get
- 6:27Speaker 1: closer to fifty's closer to fifty than survey Curtis's Wade
- 6:31Speaker 1: is going to have a big impact. Yeah, Curtis's vote
- 6:33Speaker 1: has dropped off some HU, but it's still still a
- 6:36Speaker 1: twelve percent, which is enough to change it. It's a
- 6:38Speaker 1: three way race and not a two way race.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Now the way that Mam Donnie could have been defeated.
- 6:42Speaker 2: You need to bombard everybody with negative ads about Mom
- 6:45Speaker 2: Donnie just stay and night. When it's usually the big donors,
- 6:48Speaker 2: the packs that do that. Where were they? They weren't
- 6:51Speaker 2: here in this race.
- 6:53Speaker 1: There's some, but they're not they're not clear. That's not
- 6:55Speaker 1: there's not one or two issues. I mean there's there's
- 6:58Speaker 1: fifteen different issues. And they've tried to make it too
- 7:01Speaker 1: much about racial things that they now have. They now
- 7:05Speaker 1: have them. You know, his constituents are all worked up,
- 7:09Speaker 1: so you know, and I think the thing they in investment,
- 7:12Speaker 1: They interest me a will see support. They understand Pernie
- 7:16Speaker 1: Sanders coming in here. Uh, And I think to a
- 7:18Speaker 1: certain extent, these young voters are unhappy with what's going
- 7:22Speaker 1: on and turn them on.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Hey, it's the best campaign manager ever. What is Mom
- 7:26Speaker 2: Donnie's secret? Is it the way he talks, the way
- 7:29Speaker 2: he looks, the.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Very very charismic. I mean, I've watched him quite a
- 7:33Speaker 1: few times I watched the debates. He's very charismatic. You know,
- 7:37Speaker 1: call him a socialist doesn't doesn't mean any what's the socialist?
- 7:41Speaker 1: You have to go to find that, and you got to.
- 7:43Speaker 1: You know, they've argued his inexperience, Well, you got thirty
- 7:46Speaker 1: four years old. Most of these young people that are
- 7:47Speaker 1: going for them don't have a lot of experience. So
- 7:49Speaker 1: that's not the issue. The issue is can he get
- 7:52Speaker 1: the job done to take the city in the direction
- 7:54Speaker 1: you want to go? Uh? And these people want to change?
- 7:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Now if he wins, Yeah, if he wins, will
- 8:01Speaker 2: we get will we get through this? Okay?
- 8:04Speaker 1: Sure, sure we've we've had we've had bad majors before.
- 8:09Speaker 1: But it's certainly gonna certainly gonna have an impact on
- 8:10Speaker 1: the city again, quality quality of life for a lot
- 8:14Speaker 1: of people.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and now, Donald Trump, you wouldn't recommend him coming
- 8:18Speaker 2: in endorsing Curtis or Cuomo or anything like that. He
- 8:21Speaker 2: might have a negative effect in democratic.
- 8:25Speaker 1: He clearly could have negative effects.
- 8:27Speaker 2: So huh. You know what about I've pitched this but
- 8:31Speaker 2: it got turned out. What about him endorsing mom Donnie?
- 8:33Speaker 2: You think that could hurt Mom? Donnie?
- 8:36Speaker 1: That would hurt the young people think there's a plot
- 8:40Speaker 1: plot scheming that this is always a Trump plot.
- 8:43Speaker 2: So yeah, the idea was quickly rejected.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yes, the di is cast.
- 8:51Speaker 2: All right, well, Ed Rollins, we'll check with you again.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Thanks for the wisdom.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And get out, Get out and vote. That's the key thing. Yeah,
- 8:58Speaker 1: dick your candidate. Get out and vote and learn something
- 9:01Speaker 1: about your candidate before you vote. Want.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yeah, that's important. Everybody, get out and vote, Ed Rolins,
- 9:05Speaker 2: we'll talk to you again soon. Thanks for being with us. Great,
- 9:08Speaker 2: all right, take care. Yeah, well that's important. Get out
- 9:12Speaker 2: and vote. Hey, now, besides this Marrill race, this is important.
- 9:17Speaker 2: You got to get rid of. If you're in Manhattan,
- 9:18Speaker 2: you got to get rid of this DA Alvin Bragg,
- 9:20Speaker 2: who lets all the criminals out. He believes in no
- 9:23Speaker 2: jail for criminals. First day in office, he put that
- 9:25Speaker 2: out in a memo, we will not seek carceral sentences.
- 9:29Speaker 2: In other words, so we're not going to put people
- 9:31Speaker 2: in jail. You've got to get rid of this Alvin Bragg.
- 9:33Speaker 2: If you're in Manhattan, vote for Maud Marin. She's a
- 9:36Speaker 2: Republican candidate. She'll turn the DA's office back into law enforcement,
- 9:42Speaker 2: putting prisoners, criminals in prison. That'll help if you get
- 9:46Speaker 2: Mom Donnie, so make sure you vote for Maud Maren.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Also the city council get rid of as many Democrats
- 9:51Speaker 2: replace some of the Republicans. This is a good buffer
- 9:54Speaker 2: against anything Mom Donnie could do. So you can get
- 9:57Speaker 2: out and vote. Very important. Do it today, do it tomorrow.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Get out and vote as soon as you can. Uh,
- 10:03Speaker 2: don't forget coming up at noon, Buck and Clay, great
- 10:06Speaker 2: show right here on seven to ten. Woir
