- 0:00well, if you came today, Thinking that we're going to
- 0:04continue with Catholicism or other traditions.
- 0:07We won't be and one reason is because there's so much to say
- 0:13and eventually we're gonna have to stop at some point, right?
- 0:15We can talk about the papacy. We can talk about veneration of
- 0:19icons. We can talk about indulgences,
- 0:21we can talk about different shades of traditions and all
- 0:25really you can do from this point on though.
- 0:28We may revisit such a subject in the future is to be moved enough
- 0:32to not take things at face value.
- 0:33Value. It's not just assume what people
- 0:36have to say about what they believe, but to go deeper and to
- 0:39look deeper into study and realize where people stand.
- 0:42What differences do people truly have scripture tells us that my
- 0:47people perish, right? For a lack of knowledge, were a
- 0:52faith that prizes knowledge, we're not just running here out
- 0:57of sentiment and emotions everything.
- 1:00About what we believe is based on truth on And our arguments,
- 1:05our defense, Our Gospel, our presentation, everything that
- 1:09you and I experience is based on what has been revealed and so be
- 1:13inspired moving from this place moving on, from where we were
- 1:16left off in Mark, chapter 7 to grow in your knowledge of the
- 1:21word of God, of what you believe, and from there, from
- 1:24what others believe, and then to compare.
- 1:27And hopefully the Lord will use you as you are equipped to touch
- 1:30other people, I trust that he will.
- 1:32One of the things that Bless me from people in the past few
- 1:34weeks. Was I feel equipped?
- 1:37And that's the point I wanted you to feel more familiar with
- 1:41your gospel with R-Truth and also where other people stand.
- 1:44So that you would be more bold and courageous and willing to
- 1:47touch other people's lives with the truth will.
- 1:50All that being said, we're still in Mark chapter 7.
- 1:52And so, I need you to turn with me in your Bibles to this place
- 1:56and verse 14. This will be more preaching than
- 2:03teaching. There's a lot of quoting and
- 2:05reading past few weeks but I'm excited to have my head up more
- 2:09this afternoon. Mark chapter 7 verse 14.
- 2:16And he called the people to him again and said to them, hear me
- 2:21all of you. And understand, there is nothing
- 2:24outside a person that by going into, him can defile him, but
- 2:30the things that come out of a person or what defile him, And
- 2:34we entered the house and left. The people his disciples asked
- 2:38him about the parable and he said to them.
- 2:40Then are you also without understanding?
- 2:43Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside?
- 2:47Cannot defile him since it enters not in his heart, but his
- 2:53stomach and is expelled, thus, he declared all foods clean and
- 2:59he said, what comes out of a person is what defiles him for
- 3:02from within. Out of the heart of man.
- 3:06Come evil thoughts, sexual immorality theft murder,
- 3:11adultery coveting, wickedness deceit, sensuality Envy, slander
- 3:18Pride, foolishness all these evil things come from within and
- 3:25they defile a person Lord May the words of my mouth and the
- 3:31meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight and may
- 3:35our hearts and our ears also be acceptable in your sight.
- 3:40You promised that when the Holy Spirit would come there would be
- 3:43power power to testify of the truth.
- 3:46We appeal to that power, we depend on that power, we
- 3:50relinquish all eloquence. All craft all, even personality
- 3:58And we submit ourselves to The Sovereign work of God who
- 4:02bestows upon his servants, the ability to deliver and
- 4:06communicate your truth. So do so, in this moment, for
- 4:10your namesake in your namesake alone in Jesus name, amen.
- 4:14I'm sure that if you've been in any lengthy discussion, whether
- 4:18it was Evangelistic philosophical or theological,
- 4:21that it did not take much time for the problem of evil to arise
- 4:25in that conversation. Apart from the diseases and all
- 4:29the natural disasters that occur on a daily basis.
- 4:33The polluting immorality that plagues over humanity is very
- 4:37difficult to ignore. And for the most part is easily
- 4:41discerned. Now, it is true.
- 4:43That the Bible reveals that our discernment concerning, moral,
- 4:46evil and moral good. Can be skewed.
- 4:49Can be dulled can be warped. But you have to understand that
- 4:56there is a general understanding of morality.
- 5:02Among Us, most religions can say yes, there's categories of good
- 5:07and bad. There is right and wrong and
- 5:10even the staunch atheist unknowingly perhaps appeals to
- 5:14morality when he chooses to accuse and condemn a God that he
- 5:17doesn't even believe in. And you can imagine and you are
- 5:22fully aware that it's no surprise that many many Minds
- 5:27over the years. Many schools of thought to have
- 5:30a rose on this subject. Countless people over the
- 5:34centuries of try to make sense of this mystery called evil.
- 5:39But with all the opinions that have been passed down and that
- 5:41are continuing to be passed down in our institutions of learning
- 5:45and with all the great minds over the different civilizations
- 5:50and cultures that have stuffed our literature and our
- 5:53libraries, there is absolutely nothing more robust or accurate
- 5:58concerning the subject in of evil than the word of God
- 6:01itself. Nothing?
- 6:05One Theologian said very cleverly that none can deny the
- 6:08fact that men are not what they ought to be.
- 6:11None can deny. There was something that we
- 6:13intrinsically sense about ourselves that not everything is
- 6:17right there is something foundationally wrong.
- 6:20None can deny that we are not what we ought to be and yet no
- 6:25human wisdom can give us answers to why.
- 6:29But if you are looking for answers, if you are looking for
- 6:31a Clarity, then look, no further than what you have in your
- 6:34hands. Because God's word provides
- 6:38Insight concerning the origins of evil, the identity of evil.
- 6:43The activity of evil. The punishment for evil, the
- 6:47presence of evil, the consequences of evil.
- 6:51And yes, even the future fate of evil.
- 6:54It's there from cover to cover and what you?
- 6:57And I just read in this text here.
- 6:59This afternoon shows us something about the Lord Jesus
- 7:04and his Insight concerning evil. A staggering inside a humbling
- 7:08insight about morality namely wickedness, iniquity rebellion.
- 7:16And All of that relates to you and I see human beings.
- 7:20And my aim today. Is to provide at least three
- 7:24simple thoughts, three simple thoughts of the Lord is
- 7:28conveying here, concerning that very topic and here's my desire,
- 7:33God, help us. Here's my desire that if you're
- 7:37in this, if you're in this place and you're a person who can
- 7:39identify through the Revelation, that is presented here today,
- 7:43that you need a new heart. That you would be moved by this
- 7:47truth enough to come before the presence of the king and say,
- 7:50God give me a new heart. And if you're a person in this
- 7:55place who has been born again, you can genuinely say, I have
- 7:59been transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- 8:03That you also would be moved not to appeal for a new heart.
- 8:07But perhaps for a new Joy, a new Joy, a new praise a new song
- 8:13because you in this place are enjoying the miracle of the new
- 8:17birth because of his grace. And so the sinner in this place,
- 8:22this afternoon can glorify God through the repentance and the
- 8:28person who has experience this amazing gospel, you would also
- 8:33be able to glorify God by rejoicing afresh in his goodness
- 8:37over your life. And so, I have three thoughts
- 8:41for you today, and as I told you, it will be preached to you.
- 8:45It will be preached to you. If it feels Evangelistic, then,
- 8:48so be it. But let your heart be moved
- 8:52because even Christians need to hear the gospel then, not Paul
- 8:54say in Romans that it is through the preaching of Jesus Christ
- 8:59that we know strength. It is through this gospel and
- 9:04the preaching of Jesus Christ, not the world, but the Saints
- 9:08tap into a supernatural strength.
- 9:11We need to hear the gospel. We need to explore deeper truths
- 9:15of the gospel and here's Christ giving us an Insight concerning
- 9:18the gospel. But before we get to that truth,
- 9:21here's Point. Number one, point number one,
- 9:25the source of evil is from within What do we see here in
- 9:31verse 20? And he said, what comes out of a
- 9:34person is what defiles him, three staggering words in verse
- 9:3821 for from within for, from within in a Jesus before he
- 9:47displays this catalog of Filth that populates every person's
- 9:52inner being he prepares his listeners, he gets him ready,
- 9:56has he get him ready? Well, we're told here in verse
- 9:5914 here All of you and understand.
- 10:02Hey, pay attention, pay attention, and humble yourself
- 10:05to be willing to accept what I'm about to say.
- 10:08And then from there, he says something quite strange.
- 10:10Perhaps, to us. There is nothing outside a
- 10:12person that by going into, him can defile him.
- 10:15But the things that come out of a person or what defile him,
- 10:18what is Jesus, speaking about, we remember the wider context.
- 10:21Remember before we went into that mini-series on tradition
- 10:24where it all started from the Pharisees, came to Jesus and
- 10:28said, why do you disciples not wash their hands before they
- 10:31eat, they weren't concerned about their hygiene there.
- 10:35A concern over the fact that their disregard of the
- 10:36ceremonial and ritual cleansings.
- 10:40That were preached and taught and passed down to the masses.
- 10:45And that kind of tradition that had binding conviction on others
- 10:50is what Jesus challenged because it was based like a lot of
- 10:54tradition today. It was based on skewed theology,
- 10:57let me say this tradition is neutral.
- 11:01It can be used to highlight and honor a truth or it can be used
- 11:06to Eclipse a truth. And in this case, this idea of
- 11:10ceremonial cleansing eclipse, the truth, more than just
- 11:14eclipse the truth. It.
- 11:16Diverted people from the truth and put their focus on an
- 11:19external morality instead of true inner Holiness.
- 11:24And so Jesus challenges that thought and he provides clarity
- 11:28about it and he says, listen it's not about the externals
- 11:32because what were they were, what they were teaching was what
- 11:35you do with your body is what determines your standing in the
- 11:38The presence of God, what you eat, what you touch, how you
- 11:42protect your hands, how you protect your feet, all of that
- 11:47is ultimately going to determine you experiencing God's favor.
- 11:53And Christ comes on the scene again, and he exposes all of
- 11:56that. What Christ is essentially
- 11:58saying is listen, the primary polluting factor that blemishes
- 12:01souls and corrupt behavior is not external.
- 12:04It's in you It's in you. In other words, the primary
- 12:11thing that you and I should be concerned about is not what's
- 12:13outside, but what's inside? And this concept may be familiar
- 12:18to us, right? We've heard it all our lives.
- 12:20Most of us. In this place.
- 12:21I least I assume But because of the desperate lack of true
- 12:27teaching in Jesus day, even the disciples prove that this is
- 12:31very difficult to grasp. You've been trained and you've
- 12:36heard all your life that it's about.
- 12:38Don't do this, don't do that. And here now Christ comes and
- 12:41he's not presenting something new he's presenting what the
- 12:44heart of God was even in the old Covenant, it's your heart.
- 12:48It's what occupies Within. and I suppose that some people today
- 12:52have trouble acknowledging this truth as well since it is a
- 12:56humiliating Declaration of the condition of man and so contrary
- 13:00to Modern psychologists and philosophers philosophers
- 13:03pacifier generation with It's generally understood that the
- 13:09wrong. We commit is what the wrong that
- 13:11we commit is what makes us sinners.
- 13:14It's deeper than that. It's not the wrong that you
- 13:18commit, that makes you a sinner. We are not merely Sinners
- 13:23because we sin we sin because we're sinners.
- 13:29What'd you do to doesn't necessarily determine who you
- 13:31are though? There is a facet of Truth to
- 13:33that, but it's much more complex.
- 13:36You do what you do because of who you are.
- 13:41That's the essence of what Christ is saying.
- 13:45For, from within out of the heart of man, the heart of man.
- 13:53What is the heart of, man? It is the essential part of your
- 13:56personality is the very thing that defines your affections,
- 14:00your Ambitions, your convictions, your attitudes.
- 14:04The inner seat that inspires your thoughts, your words, your
- 14:08decisions, It is that core element that makes you you.
- 14:15And what Christ is saying, is that thing that makes you, you
- 14:19is a fountain of wickedness. And it is desperately fractured.
- 14:30The human heart is broken. The human heart is deceptive.
- 14:38It is perverted. It is selfish.
- 14:43It is stubborn. It is a theater that endlessly
- 14:48plays evils Ten Thousand Times, Ten thousands, it is a tireless
- 14:54Idol manufacturer, it is a cesspool of corruption.
- 15:02Happy Father's Day, right? To which some might say.
- 15:09Excuse me, preacher. Yeah, you with the suit it would
- 15:15being a little extreme, aren't you?
- 15:16Huh? I would say that I'm a good
- 15:20person. I'm a good dad, I provide for my
- 15:23family. I'm not like other fathers who
- 15:27run away from their wives and their responsibilities.
- 15:28I pay the bills, I take my family on vacation, I sacrifice
- 15:31my own sleep, my own hobbies to serve my own.
- 15:36I'm a good mother, you know what I have to do on a day-to-day
- 15:39basis to train my children raise up my children.
- 15:44I'm not like other 20s, I'm not like Millennials there.
- 15:47I'm not like gen Z who have wasted their lives and their
- 15:50youth and debauchery and shame. I've preserved myself, I've kept
- 15:55myself, I pay my taxes. I'm good to my neighbor's, I
- 15:58obey the laws of the land. How dare you ascribe to me?
- 16:02Such horrific descriptions? And my answer to you is twofold,
- 16:08if those thoughts have traveled through your mind, as I preach
- 16:11in this microphone and here's the first thought to what
- 16:15measure, what standard of goodness are you comparing your
- 16:19goodness? Do you see what Jesus mentioned
- 16:24first in this list of sins and verse 21 for from within out of
- 16:29the heart of man? Come, here's the first thing
- 16:31evil thoughts. Evil thoughts.
- 16:35Now most of us, if not, all of us outside of Christ would never
- 16:39entertain the idea that evil thoughts would be an offense.
- 16:45Why it's intangible? Their imaginations.
- 16:49Within the boundaries of my imagination.
- 16:52They're just they're just ideas, they're not harming.
- 16:55Anybody, they're not defiling, they're not hurting.
- 17:00There's just being rehearse from within And yet, it's a very
- 17:05first thing that Jesus underscores.
- 17:09As a violation. Why?
- 17:13Because what we consider innocent is actually in
- 17:15primarily offensive to the one who inhabits heaven and knows
- 17:19the heart of all men. You see sin is not measured by
- 17:22how harmful it is to others. What our words, our actions due
- 17:27to our companions are family members or friends or even our
- 17:30enemies. There is a vertical reality to
- 17:33our morality That we often ignore.
- 17:38In our self assessment, pay attention to this, our personal
- 17:42scorecards of Holiness would look a lot different if God was
- 17:45the one grading them. Our personal score cards of how
- 17:50good we are. Would have a different grade of
- 17:54God was the one who determined whether you pass or fail.
- 17:59And Jesus mentions evil thoughts, because that's where
- 18:01everything is birth from, right? It starts with the imagination
- 18:04before becomes manifestation and so there's even Insight here
- 18:09concerning the order of things. Evil, thoughts, evil thoughts
- 18:13But evil thoughts. I mean what's the big deal?
- 18:15Well, it's a big deal to God. Secondly here's my second
- 18:20objection to your objection. Are you pleased?
- 18:23If you're a good person and you have to be honest, are you
- 18:26honest enough to look at human history and admit that are
- 18:31books. That are documentaries.
- 18:37Testified that are potential to do.
- 18:39Evil is so great. As men and women so great.
- 18:44I know your immediate temptation is to distance yourself from
- 18:48ancient civilizations and barbaric, societies and
- 18:52ideologies. But do you doubt that under
- 18:56certain circumstances and desperate situations if the
- 18:59temperature is right? If the government permits in the
- 19:02culture, accepts it that you too, can become a beast?
- 19:06If you're unhinged, if what you have in your heart is merely a
- 19:10seed. And if that seed is water, just,
- 19:13right? It can become a bed of weeds and
- 19:16more few and transform you into something that you yourself
- 19:19would never be able to recognize.
- 19:23You don't even have to look too far.
- 19:24The 20th century has been declared the bloodiest and most
- 19:27destructive Century of all of human history.
- 19:30The 20th not the first, not the second, not the 18th to the
- 19:3420th. Just a few Generations ago, we
- 19:38have slaughtered more people than any time since the
- 19:43Inception of this very world. So much for Progressive, right?
- 19:47So much for men, developing right so much with all our cures
- 19:53and all our discoveries and all our inventions.
- 19:56Those things don't prove anything.
- 19:57If anything they just give us more instrument and more ways to
- 20:01be evil. And amazingly, the Bible itself
- 20:07has been authored by God to be what a history book.
- 20:12God didn't give us a book of systematic theology, where you
- 20:15go to a concordance, or you go to some index and say, okay,
- 20:18what is justification mean? And you come and you see a list
- 20:21of the definitions of justification?
- 20:22No. There is some truth to that
- 20:25there is some element of that but you have a history book in
- 20:28your hands and I believe there's one specific purpose among many
- 20:32for that turn with me to Galatians 4:4 in your Bibles.
- 20:34I want you to see something with me.
- 20:38Maybe someone that you've never thought about.
- 20:44Galatians 4:4. but when the fullness of time had come God
- 20:56sent forth his son, born of a woman born under the law to
- 20:59redeem those who were under the law so that we might receive
- 21:02adoption as Sons. Glory be to God.
- 21:06Look at those first few words but when the fullness of time
- 21:09had come the Holy Spirit through Paul indicates that at the
- 21:14appropriate time at the perfect time, the Son of God became man
- 21:20he became man to become our substitute and there is much
- 21:22debate and speculation about God's choice of the timing in
- 21:25human history for the Incarnation of Christ. and it
- 21:29would be a whole message in itself, to consider the
- 21:31heart-stirring reasons, why Jesus came when he came Why
- 21:36Jesus came when he came because according to God, he came at the
- 21:40perfect time at the bullseye Mark and there's an element of
- 21:44God's choosing of that time. That is Sovereign and hidden and
- 21:47veiled from our understanding, that makes God God and you and I
- 21:50creatures. Oh, but from time to time, he
- 21:53gives us a glimpse into his wisdom so that we can have more
- 21:56Outburst of Joy concerning his glory.
- 21:59At the fullness of time, I believe one of the reasons why
- 22:03Christ came when he came is because it has to do with the
- 22:07patient development of Israel's history, as a testimony to the
- 22:11world about our desperate condition and need for a savior,
- 22:14did you catch that? After so many manifestations
- 22:19after so many miracles after God had raised up so many men
- 22:24throughout the generations to visit this Covenant people after
- 22:28establishing a very unique relationship, with this one,
- 22:30people group, and giving them a very powerful law along, not
- 22:34just to be kept to themselves, but to shine in the world with
- 22:37its warnings and with his blessings.
- 22:39After all of that, showering of sovereign Mercy.
- 22:44You have a nation who over and over again, rebelled disobeyed
- 22:50turned their backs, worshiped other gods.
- 22:55And in God's great wisdom. When you pick up this book and
- 23:00read through it before, you would come and meet with Christ.
- 23:04In the gospel of Matthew, you would have already been
- 23:07confronted and convinced of how deplorable and twisted we really
- 23:13are. Is that the sense you get?
- 23:17When you read the Old Testament, when you go through the Book of
- 23:20Judges and you see that after all these saviors, and all these
- 23:24super naturally empowered men, and even woman, we still go back
- 23:28to our sin. We still go back to our vomit.
- 23:29Okay, fine. No, judges.
- 23:32Here are some Kings and then you read, why.
- 23:34After one king following the? Next very, very little were able
- 23:39to be consistent and even in their consistency, they still
- 23:42fail because there man. And then you come to the
- 23:45prophets, Major Prophets, Minor Prophets.
- 23:47And you see even in these prophets though, they were
- 23:50Sanctified vessels, they were vessels still and the people
- 23:53still did not respond to the pleas of these men who are
- 23:57passionate for the glory of God and so you're overwhelmed by
- 24:00that. And you look at Israel and
- 24:04you're tempted to condemn Israel because we think to ourselves
- 24:07well, if I was at Mount Sinai and I saw the glory of God come
- 24:09down like that. I would serve God my whole day
- 24:12life, all my days, every second. Oh really.
- 24:16And we convinced ourselves in that one.
- 24:17That's not the intention of why it's there in your Bibles is to
- 24:20show you. This is you This is you and it
- 24:26would be a testament to Future Generations.
- 24:28Yes, even in 2023 that if you dare to care for your soul
- 24:31enough to read this Bible, you would read it.
- 24:33And you again be confronted with your depravity and mine.
- 24:40When the fullness of time had come Christ comes with the
- 24:44backdrop. Of a Nation who fractured and
- 24:48shattered. Any possibility of standing and
- 24:52right with God. And interestingly, when you read
- 24:58the Bible, You also see that it's not just about a past
- 25:02reality but even testifies of a future reality, what do I mean
- 25:04by that? You have some who say who would
- 25:06be very upset with this message very upset.
- 25:11We're inherently good. We're inherently good.
- 25:14And this is what you hear in modern messages, you're a good
- 25:17person. You're just a victim of your
- 25:19environment, right? And this is what we're preaching
- 25:21in our culture. This is what our government is
- 25:24flirting with, if we just abolish poverty all together,
- 25:29and if we give equal opportunity to all then, we will know
- 25:33Utopia. We will know a great, if not a
- 25:37total decrease in crime, we will know Harmony, we will know
- 25:42peace. We will know true joy and
- 25:44happiness. And the Bible knowing our
- 25:48foolish thinking doesn't just help us by looking to the past.
- 25:52It points us to the Future because do you know that the
- 25:54Bible predicts and tells us and prophesize that there is a date
- 25:57to come in this world. Not having in this day, where
- 26:00Christ will come establish, his Rule and Reign and because of
- 26:04his government that will be headquartered there in
- 26:06Jerusalem, there will be a peace and prosperity in this world
- 26:10like this world has never known never known.
- 26:15It will be an addenda kind of Revival, you will have an
- 26:19atmosphere and you will have a from corner to corner across the
- 26:23globe. A renewing of what was lost
- 26:27there in Genesis 1 and 2. And that excites us we a say,
- 26:32Amen to that, we look forward to that.
- 26:35But despite that Holy atmosphere, the Bible reminds us
- 26:38yet. Again of How Deeply rooted your
- 26:40sin and mine is as Sons. And Daughters of Adam, let me
- 26:43prove it to you. Go to Zechariah Chapter, 14 is
- 26:46Zechariah. 14 is one of the most descriptive text that details.
- 26:51What it will be like when Christ comes to this world.
- 27:00Again, maybe you don't know. This Christ is coming back, not
- 27:04to take us to heaven, and keep us there.
- 27:06There is going to be a period of 1,000 years where he has to
- 27:10fulfill some promises that he made first. namely to Israel and
- 27:15namely to a person named David And Zechariah 14 17 to 18.
- 27:21Now, this is just one puzzle to a grand puzzle of what that
- 27:26Millennial reign will look like and most of it is glorious.
- 27:30It's exciting. I mean, the lion lying down with
- 27:32the lamb, right? Children being able to play with
- 27:35serpents. You have the geographical You
- 27:40have the animal kingdom. You have politics and
- 27:44governments. Every aspect of our universe
- 27:47will be influenced by Christ's physical presence here in glory.
- 27:52And yet, with all of that, it almost it almost feels like
- 27:55heaven when you read about it. It's not heaven entirely.
- 28:01Because despite the king's presence and his perfect
- 28:03leadership, there will be a population who have not yet been
- 28:06renewed and resurrected. And here's a glimpse of that
- 28:09verse 17. This is about the millennial
- 28:12Reign. This is not today.
- 28:13This is the millennial Reign it's to come.
- 28:16And if any of the families of the earth, do not go up to
- 28:19Jerusalem to worship the king, the Lord of hosts, there will be
- 28:24no rain on them. And if the family of Egypt does
- 28:28not go up and present themselves, then on them, there
- 28:30shall be no rain. There shall be a plague the
- 28:33plague with which the Lord afflicts the Nations that do not
- 28:36go up to keep the Feast of booths.
- 28:41We look at that, we say, oh, that's interesting.
- 28:42No, no, it's theological. So I understand that What will,
- 28:47what will populate the world, who will populate the world in
- 28:50part will be the resurrected Saints, but it's not just going
- 28:53to be the resurrected Saints. You're going to have those who
- 28:55have been Preserved from judgment.
- 28:59Even the final judgment to come in this world that will also
- 29:03populate this world. And they have not been
- 29:05regenerate, and they will reproduce.
- 29:10And even again under this amazing government, you will
- 29:15still have people who resist the king.
- 29:19Because the king will demand for Global acknowledgement of who he
- 29:22is. And there will be pilgrimages to
- 29:24Jerusalem were Kings and people from Nations, will come not to
- 29:29hear a preacher talk about Jesus, but to see Jesus himself.
- 29:33And yet there will be families of the earth who don't go up.
- 29:38We're not going up to worship him.
- 29:40We're not going up to acknowledge Him, we're not going
- 29:42up to honor his command, we're staying right here.
- 29:45I mean, look how powerful his government is.
- 29:47No government can do this. Find you don't want to come.
- 29:50No rain on you guys. No rain Supernatural authority.
- 29:55Over nature itself. And you know what?
- 29:58I find even more. Fascinating Revelation, 20, you
- 30:02have to turn there gives us another insight about what will
- 30:05be like during that time. And we were told that Satan
- 30:08himself would be subdued for a thousand years.
- 30:11He'll be Chained and placed in an abyss and he will not be able
- 30:16to freely roam around. Like he confessing Job chapter 1
- 30:20to deceive and to tempt. His influence will be
- 30:25relinquished and yet those Satan's presence and his minions
- 30:32are put in a place where they cannot have, what they've had
- 30:36for. So long in our world, you still
- 30:39have people who will resist the king.
- 30:43You still have people who say I don't want to worship him I
- 30:49don't want to come near him. Why how huh?
- 30:53Because the human heart? j.c.
- 30:56Ryle said we need no bad company to teach us and no devil to
- 31:01tempt Us in order to run into sin, we have within us the
- 31:05beginning of every sin under heaven So, go away with that
- 31:14idea of environment can environment influence us?
- 31:16Yes, can people arouse us? Yes, candyman's causes do
- 31:20things. Yes, but the source, The
- 31:24Fountainhead, the mouth of where it all comes from is in your
- 31:29heart. Yeah, even behind that, pretty
- 31:31little blouse. A nice tailored suit.
- 31:37The source of evil is from within Point number to, the
- 31:41problem of evil is universal. Jesus, very few specific and
- 31:46what he said here in Mark chapter 7 for from within out of
- 31:50the heart of men not? Amen.
- 31:53Not some men, not a people group, not a specific race.
- 31:59Not criminals only but mankind, as a whole is infected with this
- 32:03poison. So whether your Society, your
- 32:07status in society is high or low, whether your bank account
- 32:09is Fuller empty. Whether you're educated or
- 32:13Porter poorly read, whether you are famous or unknown, whether
- 32:17you have accomplished much or little all men, According To,
- 32:20Jesus are inclined to do that. Which God says, do not do.
- 32:28There is not one part of this world you can run to, where this
- 32:31isn't true. There is not one culture or
- 32:36ethnicity. Where there are not infected
- 32:41with this disease, wherever you go, you will find this problem.
- 32:46Whoever you meet, they have the same diagnosis.
- 32:50I want you to think about that. You can't escape from it.
- 32:54You can't run from it. There's not one part of this
- 32:58world. That is untouched.
- 33:00And have you ever stepped back and asked why Have you ever just
- 33:05paused and looked at the universality of sin and said,
- 33:08how is this true? Why is this?
- 33:11Why are we all the same? only a fool would deny that
- 33:15there is not something wrong with us in our wiring, And this
- 33:21observation is yet another point that defensive veracity of the
- 33:24word of God. Because it's in the word of God,
- 33:26where we get the answer that tells us why it is.
- 33:29All of us are the way we are, and why sin itself encompasses
- 33:36all men and all women. You know, this verse, you can
- 33:40turn there if you'd like. But in Romans 5:12 Paul says
- 33:44therefore just that sin came into the world through one man
- 33:48and death through sin, so death. Has spread to all men because
- 33:52all sinned. Through one man.
- 33:58I notice Paul's being very specific, he saying, just as Sin
- 34:01came into the world. Paul is describing this sin in
- 34:05our world. He's not talking about the
- 34:07origins of sin because John tells us about the origins of
- 34:10sin. And first John 380 tells us
- 34:12about the devil, who was sinning from the beginning even before
- 34:16the world was created. And that's a mystery in itself,
- 34:20right? How did Satan's in, I get it but
- 34:21we're not here to answer that. Well, Paul is here addressing is
- 34:25sin in our world. And it happened through one man.
- 34:31One man, one man brought sin universally one man, brought
- 34:35about death universally, that's why we all die.
- 34:39I've wondered this, you might make fun of this kind of thing.
- 34:41But I thought to myself, how is it that we we all die?
- 34:47Why is it that some don't die if this is just all happenstance
- 34:52and where the product of goo and a collision?
- 34:55Why is it that we all have the same fate?
- 34:59And there's something unnatural about death, something doesn't
- 35:03feel right about there's something in all of us that
- 35:05resisted that. If you're still saying you you
- 35:09protect yourself from danger, anything that would threaten you
- 35:11the very reflexes of your body attest to that right?
- 35:15You blink, and you Flinch. Why why?
- 35:22Why is it that there's no Academy in our world?
- 35:24Why is it that there's no school or University or
- 35:29pre-kindergarten her kindergarten class that teaches
- 35:31you to do? Evil come and learn how to lie
- 35:34come learn, how to steal come learn, how to be selfish.
- 35:39Because it's in you. You don't need to be taught.
- 35:45You know exactly how to do it. Because of one man, he explains
- 35:52that our first parents namely Adam was granted a unique
- 35:54responsibility ones that's not to be repeated apart from Christ
- 35:59but a unique responsibility and his responsibility is to govern
- 36:02or was to govern and nurture the world.
- 36:05And he assumed the role of man's representative and the decisions
- 36:08he made would have consequences for the rest of us.
- 36:11And the natural world that he was called to take care of and
- 36:14one preacher, put it this way. Adam did not sin as a man.
- 36:20Adam sinned as man. Big difference because the
- 36:26implications of that are massive and here is one of them.
- 36:29As long as there are humans, there will be sin.
- 36:33As long as there are humans, they're obese in.
- 36:36Take a dozen people, six men, six woman, train, them, and
- 36:40develop the technology to be able to colonize another planet
- 36:44stuff, them in a rocket, blow it up into the atmosphere.
- 36:48Let them land on Mars. And create a new world.
- 36:54Let's start fresh, right. If this is really about our
- 36:58environment. If this is about all these other
- 37:00tricks and ideas, then let's just get a blank canvas, maybe
- 37:03that's the real solution, we just need a fresh start.
- 37:07Surely we have your learned after thousands of years of
- 37:10scars Upon Our Land and Upon Our people, we've learned enough to
- 37:14say if we got it, if we get a new chance at it, we can do it
- 37:17right. And what would you have if we
- 37:21took over another planet and try to do it all over again?
- 37:26You would have Earth 2.2 or 2.0. That's what you would have.
- 37:31Because it's not about. How you do things, what you
- 37:35learn, what programs you develop.
- 37:39It's about the heart. And here's the funny thing, we
- 37:42actually tried that and it didn't work.
- 37:45We tried going to Mars. No, I'm not talking about that.
- 37:47We tried restarting in this world and failed.
- 37:54Remember the flood that that's what it was all about.
- 37:57Again, it's a history book to show you that, that kind of idea
- 38:00itself is not even worthy to be entertained.
- 38:03God takes one family, puts him on an arc, and close them and
- 38:07protects them. And he washes this world squeaky
- 38:11clean. He takes just a remnant of the
- 38:17animals of every kind, puts him in that boat as well.
- 38:21And he scrubs this place from east to west north to south that
- 38:27our lands and this family exits, that our God makes a covenant.
- 38:34With this family that feared God, during a generation that
- 38:38had absolutely no regard for God.
- 38:41And what do you have in the very opening chapter of that new
- 38:45start in history? Noah following in the footsteps
- 38:48of Adam. Adam, sinned with the fruit.
- 38:53No, Ascend with a fruit, different fruit.
- 38:57But Same Heart. He gets drunk before we can even
- 39:03enjoy our new world. And his sons at least one of
- 39:08them, shames him and embarrasses them, and it just all goes
- 39:11downhill from there. So what's the solution?
- 39:17It's not to put man in a new environment.
- 39:19It's not to get a reset button. It's to give man a new heart.
- 39:26And how is that to be done? Exactly.
- 39:29Let me give you a couple verses before we close and Ezekiel
- 39:33chapter 18 verse 31. Ezekiel 18:31.
- 39:46The Lord says, cast away from you, all the transgressions that
- 39:50you have committed and make yourselves a new heart.
- 39:56And a new spirit. Why will you die o House of
- 40:01Israel? That looks like good news,
- 40:05right? That looks hopeful.
- 40:08Yeah, it is. God doesn't want you to die in
- 40:10your sin. But is it really hopeful that
- 40:14what I just read to you excite you?
- 40:18If you read it carefully. It should plunge you into deeper
- 40:21despair. Hypothetically, you come into my
- 40:27office and I'm a doctor and you sense something strange in your
- 40:32body. So you go through a series of
- 40:34tests and we do those tests and we discovered that in your body
- 40:37is a burning cancer. That is soon to eat away at your
- 40:42flesh. It is lethal and you will die.
- 40:46No, cure, no answer, no remedy. Your fate is sealed.
- 40:53And you because you cherish your life because you have enough
- 40:58awareness of your own life and realize that there is something
- 41:00wrong with, you are willing to accept that news and you feel
- 41:05that that pit in your stomach and there's a cold sweat that
- 41:09covers your brow. But there's a sense in which you
- 41:14are also grateful because you discovered this, right?
- 41:17Someone someone describe what this message was up to.
- 41:20This point is Harsh. But do you do that with your
- 41:23doctor? When he tells you honestly,
- 41:24what's wrong with your body or do you think him?
- 41:27Can you come to the proper prescription?
- 41:31Before an honest diagnosis. That is exactly why Jesus says
- 41:35what he says. That's exactly why this is being
- 41:38preached. And so there's a sense of
- 41:40relief, right? Okay.
- 41:42This is what I have. This is what I'm struggling
- 41:44with, but doctor, you're a doctor.
- 41:46Surely you have something? And the doctor looks at you and
- 41:51he says, here are some tools. Go back to your house and get
- 41:57the cancer out yourself. How would you feel?
- 42:03How would you feel? Here are some instruments.
- 42:09Good luck. You know, you have this cancer.
- 42:14Try to deal with it yourself. what you're supposed to feel is
- 42:18in even deeper pit in your stomach and a fresh, showering
- 42:22of that cold sweat over your brow, to realize, I can't I
- 42:28can't you're asking me to do something.
- 42:31That is impossible. I can't perform surgery on
- 42:36myself. I don't know the deepest parts
- 42:38of what. I'm not familiar with my anatomy
- 42:41to dig deep in there and remove that lump.
- 42:44There is just no way. And that's exactly the aim of
- 42:51this charge in Ezekiel 1831. It's not to inspire you to try
- 42:57to work your way out of your depraved condition.
- 43:02It's to bring you to a point where you say create in myself,
- 43:06a new heart, Make a new Spirit In My Own Strength.
- 43:14I can't. You're asking something that's
- 43:18impossible of me. I'm finished.
- 43:23I'm done. Let me put my house in order.
- 43:29Let me eat drink and be merry for tomorrow.
- 43:33I die. But Ezekiel doesn't finish with
- 43:40his revelation. Because you keep reading in that
- 43:44prophets writings and you come to 36:26.
- 43:49In the Lord says through him and I will give you a new heart.
- 43:54I not you. I will give you a new heart and
- 43:58a new spirit. I will put within you and I will
- 44:02remove the Heart of Stone from your flesh and give you a heart
- 44:04of Flesh. And I will put my spirit within
- 44:07you and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to be
- 44:10obey my rules. How many times do you have to
- 44:12say? Aye aye.
- 44:14Aye. You can't write, I can't.
- 44:19You can't get the cancer out of your.
- 44:21I can't get the cancer out of me.
- 44:24Then I'll do it. Come to the foot of the cross.
- 44:32Come filthy broken. And lay there in humility and
- 44:38repentance Faith submit to my righteousness and allow me to
- 44:42perform in you, what you are. Nobody else can do.
- 44:46This is point number three. Yes.
- 44:47Point number one is, as a source of evils within Point number
- 44:50two, is that the problem of evil is universal and point number
- 44:53three, is this, that the remedy of your sin is not within but
- 44:58outside, it's not within its in him.
- 45:04I will do it. That is Our Gospel appeal.
- 45:09Is to raise up, the mirror of God's word in front of you, to
- 45:12show you God, standard and to press you and to help.
- 45:16You see, just how depraved and Lawson deplorable.
- 45:18You really are, not in light of your neighbor, not in light of
- 45:22society, and unlighted, the crazies that are dominating
- 45:24social media. No, no, and light of a holy God,
- 45:29And for you to say, well, that's me.
- 45:33And then you feel the temptation of your hand reaching for a
- 45:36knife. Reaching for your own Works,
- 45:40reaching for your own efforts, reaching for your own ideas,
- 45:42reaching for what you even see the commands in this word and to
- 45:46apply them to yourselves and to bleed that sin out of you and to
- 45:50bruise yourself into righteousness and to be molded
- 45:54into the very image that God requires of you in order to be
- 45:57accepted by him and that is not where God wants you to go before
- 46:00you reach out your hand. He halts it and he grabs your
- 46:03wrist. And he gets your attention with
- 46:07the Gospel of Jesus Christ and he says, not with your hands.
- 46:10But with my pierced hands now, where you go with your feet but
- 46:13where my feet have gone. Now, what you do with your mind,
- 46:16but with what, this Crown of Thorns have done to this face.
- 46:20It's me, it's what I have done. It's what I will do for you.
- 46:26And when he does this something Supernatural happens, I will
- 46:32give you a new heart. How do I know if I'm born again
- 46:37preacher? Well, how do you know if you
- 46:39actually had physical heart surgery?
- 46:41Would, you know, you would know Even if everybody else in this
- 46:45whole world, told you, that you didn't get it, you have a scar
- 46:48to prove it. Is it any different with
- 46:54spiritual surgery? Some would say yes, some would
- 46:57say that you can come into contact with this gospel and not
- 47:00be changed because it's just this idea.
- 47:04It's just a mere confession. No, it's a supernatural
- 47:07transformation. The means is Faith.
- 47:11The supply is Grace. But the result is powerful.
- 47:16It's tangible. It's observable first in you,
- 47:19and in another's. And I want to just give you one
- 47:23Glimpse and I'm finished here. I'm going to give you one
- 47:25glimpse of just a description of why it is that this is
- 47:30Supernatural First Corinthians 6 verse 17.
- 47:35It's not really a text referred to to give some kind of color.
- 47:40To the transformation that occurs with this new heart
- 47:43transplant. But let me give you this one to
- 47:47consider. 1st Corinthians 6:17. But he, who is joined to the
- 47:54Lord becomes one spirit with him.
- 47:59He who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.
- 48:03Pulses at the heels of describing what happens when a
- 48:06man and a woman come together and sexual union to become one
- 48:09flesh. And he describes the the
- 48:12profound bond that that really is.
- 48:15And then he goes from there to give us a more deeper Bond.
- 48:20Yeah, you become one flesh with another human being, but when
- 48:23you come to Christ and are joined to him, you become one
- 48:28spirit. The innermost part of Who You
- 48:32Are. Is joined to the Lord.
- 48:37Now, hold on, joined to the Lord and you didn't change.
- 48:44Union with the spirit of God. And you don't have any desire to
- 48:51obey his commands, you have no inclination to adore him.
- 48:57You have no part of you that wants to worship Him and love
- 49:01him. How how?
- 49:03Please? Tell me how please I'm lost.
- 49:06Tell me how how Join with the Lord in the spirit unphased
- 49:14unchanged the same. Someone's not telling the truth
- 49:20here. But I go with what the Bible
- 49:24says. and we must present a gospel that doesn't cheapen the
- 49:30gospel but provides man, The only solution.
- 49:37What is the solution? Christ.
- 49:43Is that too simple for you, does that offend you?
- 49:48You know, going through Ministry even for this short amount of
- 49:51time. I've realized that all these
- 49:57ideas and all these Newfound studies and all these tricks and
- 50:02all these programs. They're powerless, powerless.
- 50:11Am I put myself in a position to be accused of being simplistic.
- 50:16But when you realize what Christ can do to the human heart wide,
- 50:20look elsewhere. It applies to your marriage, it
- 50:24applies to your habits, it applies to your addiction, it
- 50:26applies to your trauma. It applies to absolutely
- 50:30everything. You know, over the years you see
- 50:36what the gospel can do. This is the story that came to
- 50:40mind on my way here and I thought I would I would share
- 50:42because for whatever reason, the image when reflecting upon the
- 50:46profoundness and the power of this truth, this is the image
- 50:49that came to me. A few of us early in our walk
- 50:53with the Lord were invited to go to a few Catholic high schools
- 50:57and Catholic high. Schools and Canada are no
- 51:00different than public schools, really?
- 51:02I went to them. I went to a Catholic elementary
- 51:04school. I went to Catholic High School.
- 51:09And we are invited to go into these classrooms, these
- 51:11religious classrooms. I did this day, I have to figure
- 51:14out because I don't understand how it happened, where they
- 51:17invited a group of friends to come into classrooms and to
- 51:22share testimonies and ultimately the gospel, the true gospel.
- 51:27To this day, the group of people that were participating, that
- 51:29participating that are just, we recognize the miraculous element
- 51:32of it. And in one particular school,
- 51:34they put us in there, Chapel there, Catholic Chapel room, and
- 51:38one class after the other all day just came through and we had
- 51:41a little system because there was a group of us, maybe five of
- 51:43us, four of them would share their testimonies and Powerful
- 51:47testimonies. I mean, testimonies are being
- 51:49delivered from drugs and gangs and violence and perversion
- 51:54unforgiveness. One of the brothers who You're
- 51:57visiting us. His brother was murdered right
- 51:58in front of his eyes, held his dead body there in the streets.
- 52:01After partying in the bar and he was able because of Christ.
- 52:05After that saying what happened to my brother?
- 52:07Where is he? He found Christ and he found
- 52:09Christ in a real way. When he found Christ in a real
- 52:12way, he was able to look at those murders in that courtroom
- 52:14and forgive them publicly, those kind of testimonies And they
- 52:20were profound testimony. There are moving testimonies,
- 52:23but we made it every single time.
- 52:28We settled it. That the gospel would be
- 52:31presented at the end. And can I tell you something?
- 52:35When the gospel would go forth? I looked at those faces from
- 52:39time to time and I've never seen them more gripped, more touched,
- 52:45more moved, despite everything that we said, despite the
- 52:48Charisma that was there in that room, despite the drama of those
- 52:53stories, when the gospel was presented, It, paralyzes those
- 52:58students. Because there's no other news
- 53:01like it. It's the only thing that brings
- 53:04a solution. It's the only thing that brings
- 53:06an answer and in the sheer Silence of that place we didn't
- 53:11know what the results of those meetings were on one day.
- 53:14We got a box full of these letters from these students and
- 53:18we open them one by one and each one of those.
- 53:22What you said, gave me hope what you said.
- 53:26Help me realize I have another chance.
- 53:29What you said? Help me not kill myself.
- 53:33What you said? Helped me realize that there is
- 53:35a love outside of my abusive father and neglecting mother.
- 53:38What you said what was that? The gospel was said For it is
- 53:44the power of God unto salvation, my friend.
- 53:47I end here. I said that 10 minutes ago, I
- 53:50mean it this time. Is your heart changed.
- 53:55Is it changed? Have you experienced what?
- 53:59I am speaking of have you come to the end of yourself, where
- 54:03you realize, just how dark your heart is and how deceiving it as
- 54:08been to you. And enough is enough.
- 54:11The pattern, my life has testified that my ideas and my
- 54:16concepts of my convictions have failed me.
- 54:19Have you come to that point? Now, if you have what is your
- 54:22solution because if you're not careful, that same perverted
- 54:25hard, that is deceived you with your sin can Really trick you
- 54:28about how you can be free from your sin and so be careful.
- 54:32I make an appeal to a real appeal.
- 54:35My appeal is this come to Christ today?
- 54:38Be saved today today? Yes, Father's Day Meet Your Real
- 54:42Heavenly Father, come to him. Repent of your sin trust in him.
- 54:46I even dare you to not leave this place and lay flat on the
- 54:50ground and cry out to him until you're a transformed creature.
- 54:53He'll do it. He will do it.
- 54:57He will give you a new heart. You can't go anywhere else, you
- 55:00can't do anything for yourself. If you choose not to do so
- 55:04today, which I think is a tragic mistake.
- 55:06Never forget those words call upon his name and you shall be
- 55:10saved. Call upon his name and you shall
- 55:12be saved Lord. We thank you for this word.
- 55:16And we ask Gardens time, we would rejoice in our salvation.
- 55:25Maybe we become dull concerning the gospel, maybe we have fallen
- 55:29into the Trap of thinking that the gospel needs some help.
- 55:35But thank you for reminding us. You alone can give a new heart.
- 55:42Even if there's one person in here.
- 55:46Who doesn't have that new heart? We thank you for speaking to
- 55:51them and we asked that they would be changed. we pray that
- 55:56they would be desperate enough to say, Heal me, save me, change
- 56:03me. Lord.
- 56:05I am a poor preacher week stammering.
- 56:12You have to do it by your spirit.
- 56:14You have to Lord. And we give you the glory for
- 56:17it, and look for the Saints in the land.
- 56:20We rejoice in this gospel, we give you praise, we lift our
- 56:22hands. We lift our voices, and we say
- 56:24thank you. That we can look back at a
- 56:27moment and say that was the day. My heart was changed.
- 56:31Receive more glory for that Jesus name, amen.
