- 0:05Speaker 1: Episode of Not an Other Football Podcast with myself, Simon,
- 0:08Speaker 1: Donnelly and Jackie. I'm delighted to have a next guest
- 0:12Speaker 1: off the Telly Great Telfa.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I'm brilliant. Thank you very much for having me on
- 0:16Speaker 2: the show.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Looking forward, it we spot in Italy stripped day as
- 0:20Speaker 1: a hope of them getting into this World Cup.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Of course, of course they're there.
- 0:24Speaker 3: There's talk of Iran being booted out and Italy being
- 0:27Speaker 3: put back in.
- 0:28Speaker 4: No.
- 0:29Speaker 3: I just think this is it's a nice top un Fortunately,
- 0:31Speaker 3: this was Italy's top at Euro ninety six with They're
- 0:33Speaker 3: an absolute disaster six ninety six. Ay, so it's not
- 0:37Speaker 3: a particularly good year for for Italian football, but it's
- 0:41Speaker 3: like a nice toppings.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Thank you very much for the compliment.
- 0:44Speaker 1: It's brough a good start already already the World Couple's
- 0:47Speaker 1: your thoughts.
- 0:48Speaker 3: I I'm really looking forward. I'm getting opportunity to go
- 0:50Speaker 3: over there and work. I'm working there for the Terras podcast,
- 0:54Speaker 3: so I think I'm making video content across the three weeks,
- 0:57Speaker 3: basically from a fans perspective, so that the I need
- 1:00Speaker 3: to discuss this. But what I want to do is
- 1:02Speaker 3: like spend a week in Boston, go to the game
- 1:04Speaker 3: against Haiti, then maybe two nights in New York, back
- 1:07Speaker 3: to Boston for the game against Morocco, maybe a night
- 1:09Speaker 3: in Nashville, you know, go down there was supposed to
- 1:12Speaker 3: be class and then out to Miami for the game
- 1:15Speaker 3: against Brazil and the back up the road.
- 1:16Speaker 2: So it's like three weeks.
- 1:17Speaker 3: I was out in Belfast a couple of weeks, so
- 1:18Speaker 3: let my visa sorted for it. I've got accreditation for
- 1:21Speaker 3: FEEF assorted, so I just need to book the flights
- 1:23Speaker 3: and accommodation. So I've got a discussion with my boss
- 1:25Speaker 3: about that later on in the week, and they all
- 1:28Speaker 3: know exactly what's expected.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I mean, but I can't wait three weeks all on,
- 1:33Speaker 1: three weeks all in when we get to the knockouts,
- 1:35Speaker 1: and then we.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Discussed that, I do I weirdly, I do think we've
- 1:40Speaker 3: got this is a because of the way chance.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Well, do you know something.
- 1:44Speaker 3: I think it's if you finish like the one of
- 1:45Speaker 3: the best third place teams you can, you can progress.
- 1:49Speaker 3: And I think it's going to be I think it's
- 1:50Speaker 3: going to be that game against Haiti. The first game
- 1:52Speaker 3: is really going to determine how we get on. I
- 1:54Speaker 3: think we should be looking to run up a cricket
- 1:56Speaker 3: score against something. No, that's not something we traditionally do.
- 1:58Speaker 3: See if we will to be them like five or
- 2:00Speaker 3: six now, because Morocco is going to be a hard game.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Brazil is going to be a hard game. But see,
- 2:03Speaker 3: if you've got three points and you've got a decent
- 2:05Speaker 3: gold difference, you've got a right good chance of progressing.
- 2:08Speaker 3: And then it's strapping the phone to the Boston sending
- 2:09Speaker 3: all money please, then the greater accommodation. But I can't wait.
- 2:13Speaker 3: I've never been to the United States before. You know,
- 2:15Speaker 3: it was a wee bit reticent at first, you know,
- 2:18Speaker 3: sort of the ongoing situation. America doesn't look like particularly
- 2:21Speaker 3: a welcoming place at the moment.
- 2:23Speaker 2: But it's the it's the World Cup.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Can check your socials because it's donald not.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Checked the first time. The first thing I did was nothing.
- 2:31Speaker 3: There was nothing bad on there. But it's when you
- 2:33Speaker 3: fill in the form for the visa. They asked like
- 2:35Speaker 3: to check like Instagram and Twitter and stuff like that.
- 2:36Speaker 3: So I just I just put it down there for
- 2:39Speaker 3: just for safety. But the process to get the visas weird,
- 2:41Speaker 3: like I thought, it was, you know, seems like an
- 2:43Speaker 3: interview for a visa. I thought you'd be going out
- 2:45Speaker 3: to this consulate in Belfast. You'd be there for like
- 2:48Speaker 3: an hour and they would go through, like line by
- 2:50Speaker 3: line what you've put in the visa.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Like once once she skits like a doctor's waiting room.
- 2:54Speaker 3: There's about you and twenty other people all sitting there
- 2:56Speaker 3: waiting to waiting to go through.
- 2:58Speaker 2: An interview lasts about three minutes.
- 2:59Speaker 3: It's all like a bunch of kids going to Camp
- 3:01Speaker 3: America that we're all in the cube before me and
- 3:03Speaker 3: Gop And he's like, so the body that's what you're
- 3:05Speaker 3: doing is looking at the World Cup. Oh great, well
- 3:08Speaker 3: that's class. There you go, there's your there's a visa sorted.
- 3:11Speaker 3: So that's the one one thing to take off. Nobody's
- 3:13Speaker 3: about that. And then it's just, honestly, man, just counting
- 3:15Speaker 3: down that the days I've gone from like just so
- 3:18Speaker 3: see how we go.
- 3:18Speaker 2: But now I just I just I just can't wait.
- 3:20Speaker 4: To out there for the start or just when Scotland
- 3:22Speaker 4: start the start.
- 3:23Speaker 3: So I think it's Scottland are playing and it's the
- 3:25Speaker 3: Friday or the Saturday, so I'll be out there for
- 3:28Speaker 3: the Monday, and the idea is basically just to get
- 3:30Speaker 3: as much content as possible speaking to Scotland fans, like
- 3:33Speaker 3: basically find out what what Boston's like, documenting the like
- 3:36Speaker 3: the journey from the from.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Boston to the stadium, basically really what what fans are.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Don't go to fan zones and I get the opportunity
- 3:42Speaker 3: to go to like other games quite fancy Congo versus
- 3:45Speaker 3: his Betty Stan. I think that's a bucket as a
- 3:48Speaker 3: new bucket list kind of game. But I think that's
- 3:50Speaker 3: just I think I'll need to find out exactly. But
- 3:52Speaker 3: I think I've got like pretty much a broad scope
- 3:55Speaker 3: to to kind.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Of do a want there. As long as there's daily
- 3:58Speaker 2: videos that are going out.
- 3:59Speaker 3: There'll be challenging to film stuff and then go back
- 4:02Speaker 3: and edit, but that's something.
- 4:03Speaker 4: We can anything to do with the team. Will you
- 4:06Speaker 4: be no team?
- 4:07Speaker 2: No, it's mostly exalt stuff to fans.
- 4:09Speaker 3: I think that the Terennis podcast they've they've like joined
- 4:13Speaker 3: up with news Quest, who owned the Herald.
- 4:14Speaker 2: And the National.
- 4:15Speaker 3: I think they are sending Steve McGowan out. He's going
- 4:18Speaker 3: to be based at the Scotland tearing base, so they
- 4:20Speaker 3: send someone to cover all the stuff to the team,
- 4:23Speaker 3: and then I'll be doing the fun stuff with the fans.
- 4:26Speaker 5: The warm up games first, yeah, we've got a couple
- 4:31Speaker 5: of it.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Not we've got so we're playing Curus out at the
- 4:33Speaker 2: end of May.
- 4:35Speaker 3: That's the basically, that's the one, just to send everyone
- 4:37Speaker 3: up the road a smile.
- 4:38Speaker 2: So looking forward to that.
- 4:39Speaker 3: And then I think I think it's in the Metlake
- 4:42Speaker 3: Stadium in New Jersey.
- 4:43Speaker 2: We're playing Bolivia. That's basically just.
- 4:47Speaker 1: They played there on the warm up. That's where he
- 4:48Speaker 1: played Columbia.
- 4:51Speaker 4: New Jersey.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Did you say, I think I think so.
- 4:53Speaker 4: I'm sure we played Columbia. Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 5: Remember Drama only gets her game because he's.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Here ready key to playing in that game, big boy Valentia.
- 5:04Speaker 5: Really, when we used to get the team the opposition,
- 5:08Speaker 5: Craigan used to go through the opposition and sort of
- 5:13Speaker 5: basically to say they were ship.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I've heard that.
- 5:15Speaker 5: I've heard that just to I think it was his
- 5:18Speaker 5: way of psyching us up, the confidences us ever to
- 5:21Speaker 5: be played with, you know, best players in the world
- 5:24Speaker 5: or average. And but the Columbia game, Valderama, he's like
- 5:30Speaker 5: he's past it. He only gets a game because he's
- 5:34Speaker 5: here and he said Valencia, he's a black Ally McCoist
- 5:40Speaker 5: six foot five. That's that's what we had done that
- 5:46Speaker 5: we do that?
- 5:46Speaker 2: Did he do that against Brazil?
- 5:48Speaker 3: Like obviously he's going through all these like one class
- 5:51Speaker 3: Ronaldo better.
- 5:53Speaker 1: We played them in the first game and then but
- 5:55Speaker 1: also just on that same thing we played. Remember we
- 6:00Speaker 1: played France in ninety seven and the year leading up
- 6:04Speaker 1: and Zidan and the shops were one paste.
- 6:07Speaker 4: The one won the Wall Cup next year random.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Placed like I really like to turn the pace like
- 6:14Speaker 3: he was deceptively fast. Play again against a big, powerful.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Player as well strong.
- 6:20Speaker 5: It's scary feet. The ball come there in his first
- 6:22Speaker 5: touch is away with his body. You just can't get
- 6:25Speaker 5: near near him. Just a different level.
- 6:30Speaker 3: And who the best players that you you come up
- 6:33Speaker 3: against playing for Scotland.
- 6:38Speaker 5: Said on you, my son, I did he did the
- 6:42Speaker 5: relected to get I didn't know in fairness the way
- 6:47Speaker 5: the ball went down to him and the kind of
- 6:49Speaker 5: I came on it right midfield. He took off Gary
- 6:52Speaker 5: Hote who just came on at half time, and he
- 6:54Speaker 5: took him off to put me and put me on
- 6:57Speaker 5: for him. Although Gary said he was sigling for somebody else,
- 7:02Speaker 5: but he was taking them off because of how he
- 7:04Speaker 5: was running, just like Tony Bunses, like get him off now.
- 7:09Speaker 2: He just came on.
- 7:09Speaker 5: So I came on for him, and the ball went
- 7:12Speaker 5: down the right back area. And normally I would go
- 7:14Speaker 5: to ground and do the scissors and take the ball
- 7:16Speaker 5: and the man, but we're four now doing or something
- 7:18Speaker 5: at the time, and it was the dan so I
- 7:20Speaker 5: just kind of slowed up, stopped my sprint and stood
- 7:24Speaker 5: on my feet and I said to my son, I said,
- 7:27Speaker 5: I don't.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Know what he'd done.
- 7:28Speaker 5: He made the ball disappear in front of me, and
- 7:31Speaker 5: the all start de France was like I've done yea,
- 7:36Speaker 5: I could have done him, and he passed it back
- 7:38Speaker 5: to lizarda zoo and over and smashed him and got
- 7:41Speaker 5: your little calf. And then years later my boy found
- 7:44Speaker 5: it on YouTube, so we got to click and the
- 7:46Speaker 5: dance you you see me in tho did you see
- 7:53Speaker 5: me just slow up like that and looking for the ball.
- 7:57Speaker 5: He just he dangle over there and dragged it. But
- 7:59Speaker 5: that was he was kind of the first to kind
- 8:01Speaker 5: of do that.
- 8:02Speaker 2: That skill.
- 8:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd never seen that before, but I was more
- 8:06Speaker 5: angry for not going to ground and taking him on the.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Ball next time.
- 8:11Speaker 1: So that we played that was that same stadium then,
- 8:14Speaker 1: so who does Scotland play there?
- 8:15Speaker 4: BELIVEA.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I think that's that's what they're doing with World Cup
- 8:18Speaker 3: warrants until you play teams that are like relatively playing.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Haiti and Bolivia's.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I'm impressed that you're taunting enough saying five or six,
- 8:30Speaker 1: it's just we should go and win that one.
- 8:33Speaker 3: But I think there's people belong with a historical I like,
- 8:36Speaker 3: I think they will go back to like the nineteen
- 8:38Speaker 3: World Cup per and Coke Costa Rica as well. The
- 8:41Speaker 3: teams that were are like really fancy to go and win.
- 8:44Speaker 3: You don't turn up against them. It's it's not we
- 8:46Speaker 3: we don't tend to do that. I mean, when's the
- 8:48Speaker 3: last time I can remember Scotland like absolutely like.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Like thrashing someone. We don't tend to do that enough.
- 8:53Speaker 4: I watched this team New Zealand dated too.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I watched that popped up Matt Twitter recently and I
- 8:58Speaker 1: think we go to up and we're cruising and then
- 9:02Speaker 1: we give away two goals and we're going to one
- 9:04Speaker 1: five too. But subsequently the two goals put us out
- 9:08Speaker 1: really played against the uses and.
- 9:14Speaker 4: That game.
- 9:17Speaker 2: It was.
- 9:19Speaker 5: I'm trying was it my other see my dad. We
- 9:22Speaker 5: went to all the games, but the two goals that.
- 9:27Speaker 3: It always feels that well with Scotland, we step up
- 9:31Speaker 3: really well with the underdogs, you know. I think that
- 9:33Speaker 3: when we're coming against like big opposition, we're really good.
- 9:36Speaker 3: We can make things awkward for them. I think when
- 9:38Speaker 3: there's an expectation for us to go out and win,
- 9:40Speaker 3: we can really do that. I mean haven't been at
- 9:42Speaker 3: Hamden last couple of times for instance, like I was
- 9:44Speaker 3: quite a poor perform as well.
- 9:45Speaker 2: We played Belarus a.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Couple of months ago and that was a game because
- 9:48Speaker 3: like Belarus, we turned them over and Minsk.
- 9:51Speaker 2: I think it was when we played them.
- 9:53Speaker 3: And then you're taking them back to Glasgow and you're
- 9:55Speaker 3: expecting ticket You saw how poor they were there and
- 9:57Speaker 3: you're expecting to really go and give them a doing
- 9:59Speaker 3: and it was just being you remember when the com
- 10:01Speaker 3: mctommeney scored the one and goes like like fuck you
- 10:03Speaker 3: can actually you actually see him mount mouthing and that
- 10:06Speaker 3: was that felt like a bit of tipping point in
- 10:08Speaker 3: how folk were feeling towards it like like Steve Clark
- 10:10Speaker 3: and he managed to rescue it back without the game
- 10:12Speaker 3: against Denmark. But having been there at the game against Japan,
- 10:16Speaker 3: you know, I think folk were just a bit like,
- 10:19Speaker 3: let's see, let's see something interesting happening there.
- 10:22Speaker 5: You can now join our YouTube channel. There's lots on offer,
- 10:26Speaker 5: there's Q and as available, there's tickets monthly shout hoops.
- 10:31Speaker 5: I think the same footage.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Of our bloopers, only thirty five takes just to do
- 10:37Speaker 1: this win little.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Clicking the link below click.
- 10:44Speaker 1: This episode is sponsored by Rosa McGuire's and Cable Roig.
- 10:47Speaker 4: We're going to be there.
- 10:48Speaker 1: At Celtic Supporters Festival from June the fourth to the seventh, myself, Jackie,
- 10:53Speaker 1: who else.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Peter Grant, Joe Miller, Alan Thompson and Tommy Johnson. And yeah,
- 11:01Speaker 5: the link is in a description.
- 11:05Speaker 4: But to the episode said, yeah, did you go to
- 11:08Speaker 4: the last one in Germany?
- 11:10Speaker 2: I was at Germany.
- 11:11Speaker 3: I was what I was working for that once was
- 11:12Speaker 3: it was working for the Scottish Effe doing their Scotland
- 11:15Speaker 3: h Q and one of the best experience in my life.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Genuinely like such a privilege to be there. So we
- 11:20Speaker 3: were based down in Garmish Party Kirking where the Scotland
- 11:24Speaker 3: were training. So it was amazing You're getting to you're
- 11:26Speaker 3: getting to watch until I shooed off at so I
- 11:29Speaker 3: was just sitting there. They hired this, it was like
- 11:32Speaker 3: a provincial team. Imagine the equivalent of like Edinburgh City
- 11:35Speaker 3: for friends. It is like an or fourth athletic, a
- 11:37Speaker 3: sort of team like fairly low down the food chain.
- 11:40Speaker 3: They'd hired their their ground. It was all spruced up
- 11:42Speaker 3: at their running track round it. They had built like
- 11:44Speaker 3: a gym behind the goals for the players and the
- 11:47Speaker 3: sort of makeshift like ice baths and stuff for them.
- 11:51Speaker 4: With the backdrop with the mountains.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's exactly That's exactly was me.
- 11:54Speaker 3: It was on top of that as well, stunning place
- 11:56Speaker 3: you come out of your hotels more and see the air,
- 11:58Speaker 3: the quality of they have never felt anything like it,
- 12:00Speaker 3: proper like Alpine. It was a beautiful, beautiful part of
- 12:03Speaker 3: the world. All the houses as well there they all
- 12:06Speaker 3: looked like like these huge Shally's.
- 12:09Speaker 2: You know.
- 12:10Speaker 3: They was up there on the stage and there was
- 12:11Speaker 3: like one point five million euros was like the starting
- 12:14Speaker 3: price to stay there, so really expensive. But to be
- 12:17Speaker 3: down there and to see Scotland in action, like getting
- 12:20Speaker 3: to interview I'm going to name drop you about like
- 12:22Speaker 3: Scott mctommery and Billy Gilmore and John McGinn and to
- 12:25Speaker 3: actually see like a production like that in action and
- 12:27Speaker 3: just how dependent it was and on Scotland results we
- 12:30Speaker 3: were supposed to. The plan was to be doing episodes
- 12:33Speaker 3: like every every single day, but we go and play Jemmy,
- 12:36Speaker 3: you lose that five to.
- 12:37Speaker 2: One and we was like, nos, can it?
- 12:38Speaker 3: Well, they do an episode the next day and then
- 12:40Speaker 3: it was a case of building excitement up for the
- 12:41Speaker 3: Switzerland game, so we spoke to like Lyndon Dykes. He
- 12:45Speaker 3: obviously was injured and couldn't participate, but he was there
- 12:48Speaker 3: in the camp and all that, so it was great
- 12:49Speaker 3: to talk to him, and John McGinn liking the build
- 12:52Speaker 3: up to it, and we spoke to like like Billy Gilmore,
- 12:54Speaker 3: and then there was the game against Hungry and was
- 12:56Speaker 3: supposed to be an episode after that, but it was
- 12:58Speaker 3: just like nah, like just can't for there. But it's
- 13:01Speaker 3: the first time I'd watched Scotland like away from Glasgow,
- 13:05Speaker 3: so it's a brilliant experience, Like go to Cologne, partically
- 13:09Speaker 3: for the Switzerland match. What a brilliant place to watch football,
- 13:12Speaker 3: and just getting to see Scotland score like a goal
- 13:14Speaker 3: actually matter and on the stage, just an incredible experience
- 13:18Speaker 3: and and like like if that was the high point,
- 13:20Speaker 3: then being in the Stuttgart for the game against Hungary
- 13:23Speaker 3: where we you know, we lost in the one hundredth minute.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I think it was when I thought that.
- 13:28Speaker 4: It's all coming back to me. Do Armstrong was a penalty.
- 13:30Speaker 2: It looked like a penalty.
- 13:31Speaker 3: We were, we were, we were really close to where
- 13:34Speaker 3: it was really close to I was, and it looked
- 13:36Speaker 3: like a penalty.
- 13:36Speaker 2: It was certainly something that we were were everyone everyone
- 13:39Speaker 2: around me was appealing for.
- 13:40Speaker 3: But having a chance to watch it back and I'm
- 13:42Speaker 3: sure I can't make my mind of it as a penalty,
- 13:44Speaker 3: and I.
- 13:44Speaker 4: Think it is. Can you remember it?
- 13:46Speaker 1: It gets his gets his body in front of the
- 13:49Speaker 1: he knows that the HiT's coming and it gets his
- 13:51Speaker 1: I think that's what could strikers, all the attackers.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Yeah, get your body in front and take the hit.
- 13:56Speaker 2: M H.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Screaming for it.
- 13:58Speaker 3: I didn't like afterwards, like Clark it it was of
- 14:00Speaker 3: a South American referee and he came out and criticized
- 14:04Speaker 3: like the referee from being from South America, and.
- 14:06Speaker 2: It just felt like it felt like a bit of
- 14:08Speaker 2: deflection there.
- 14:09Speaker 3: For the fact that I can remember as well, I
- 14:11Speaker 3: think it was Kenny McLean coming on late on and
- 14:13Speaker 3: just knowing what he was supposed to do. I suppose
- 14:15Speaker 3: at that point the game is quite key. Lottic care
- 14:18Speaker 3: also like just make put us one, make something happen.
- 14:21Speaker 3: But it was quite a disappointing way to go out.
- 14:23Speaker 3: And I think pound for pound that you were twenty
- 14:25Speaker 3: twenty four, we might have been the worst team that
- 14:27Speaker 3: we're there.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Do you feel when that kind of note because you
- 14:30Speaker 1: go back to the the tournament before it was a
- 14:34Speaker 1: wee bit kind under after COVID won it, because it
- 14:37Speaker 1: didn't feel right completely. I think this group of players
- 14:40Speaker 1: feel as if they've gotten finished business because there's quite
- 14:43Speaker 1: a lot of them have played at that too high.
- 14:44Speaker 1: They've got the experience of the two. Now it's a
- 14:47Speaker 1: World Cup, which I always thinks it's another level the
- 14:50Speaker 1: world is watching, so to speak. I think that might
- 14:54Speaker 1: work for us because those guys there, that's maybe the
- 14:56Speaker 1: last character.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I think you're right, Yeah, I think I think right
- 14:59Speaker 3: like guys is like I don't think like like Kenny McLean,
- 15:02Speaker 3: John Suitter, like Craig Gordon, if he goes yeah.
- 15:06Speaker 2: They might roberts Andy Robertson just kind of coming out
- 15:09Speaker 2: there makes.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Sure as I have to've still got that little bit
- 15:11Speaker 1: to prove on that stage.
- 15:13Speaker 2: I think you're right.
- 15:13Speaker 3: I think I don't think we really saw the best
- 15:15Speaker 3: of ourselves at Euro twenty twenty. We're good against England.
- 15:18Speaker 3: I thought we gave England a bit of a hard
- 15:20Speaker 3: game and need remember like Steven O'Donnell pocket and Jack grealish,
- 15:23Speaker 3: and it was great because yeah, he did he did
- 15:25Speaker 3: have us right quite early on didn' he had a
- 15:27Speaker 3: shot past the post and that was really good because
- 15:29Speaker 3: o'donald came under quite a bit of criticism against for
- 15:32Speaker 3: the Force, against the Chechno of public and so for
- 15:34Speaker 3: him to really step up against a much superior opposition
- 15:37Speaker 3: it was great.
- 15:38Speaker 2: But then you play against Croatian, I can someone were like.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Look a Modrich just absolutely running the show like it
- 15:43Speaker 3: was just could couldn't get near him. So we're talking
- 15:45Speaker 3: to to Sedan like his next touch is he's already
- 15:48Speaker 3: he's already seen so when he takes the ball. He
- 15:51Speaker 3: just is so good at playing space himself, and he
- 15:52Speaker 3: scored I think scored one of the goals of the
- 15:54Speaker 3: tournament there as well, didn't He sort of folly from
- 15:56Speaker 3: the from the edge of the box.
- 15:58Speaker 2: So I think you're right.
- 15:58Speaker 3: I don't think we gave a good account ourselves at
- 16:00Speaker 3: Euro twenty twenty or Euro twenty twenty four. So this
- 16:03Speaker 3: is a good chance to make amends and hopefully against Haiti.
- 16:06Speaker 3: I know we've got a slight reservations about that game,
- 16:08Speaker 3: but that's the kind of match that we can go
- 16:10Speaker 3: out and really and show what we can do.
- 16:11Speaker 4: I've got that's from.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Dogs, it is.
- 16:16Speaker 5: But I just feeling the press.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Because something's got to give another game. Sorry, sets up
- 16:22Speaker 4: nicely if we can.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Get the back and they're good, they're good size like Morocco.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I know they kind of got awarded at retrospectively, but
- 16:27Speaker 3: then being like the African Cup of Nations holders, and
- 16:30Speaker 3: I know that this isn't necessarily like a vintage Brazilti.
- 16:32Speaker 2: It's still like a team that we played at ninety eight.
- 16:35Speaker 3: I mean there's when you go through like like looking
- 16:38Speaker 3: at the team, I can't believe Brown going through somebody's like,
- 16:41Speaker 3: was it CAFU was.
- 16:41Speaker 5: Playing CAFU the better, Carlos Valdo frightening the better. So
- 16:49Speaker 5: that the big thing was when their team came in
- 16:52Speaker 5: the Brazilian team, He's taught Danielson would be starting because
- 16:55Speaker 5: he had a good season. Yeah, I think it was
- 16:57Speaker 5: it better in the but he says, all great news.
- 17:02Speaker 5: He says he's going for the Bettle again. He's turned
- 17:09Speaker 5: the Davy whare. He's got Hearts. At the time he
- 17:12Speaker 5: says he can't get he can't get a club. He
- 17:14Speaker 5: sees in fact Davey's tried to get in at Hearts perhaps.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Like the Bettles try.
- 17:21Speaker 5: Again at Hearts.
- 17:22Speaker 2: You know he's.
- 17:24Speaker 5: And he was class the Beetles class. And then after
- 17:28Speaker 5: the game, do you know trying to swap strips away
- 17:31Speaker 5: I tried to get I go for Bettle's top.
- 17:33Speaker 2: You've Goto's top.
- 17:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 1: We go out now after the game, So the guys
- 17:38Speaker 1: that don't play go out to do a little bit
- 17:40Speaker 1: running naturally.
- 17:41Speaker 2: After they normally do.
- 17:42Speaker 1: But because Brazil on town, because the Sky gets into
- 17:45Speaker 1: the desker room to swap gets number seven be Bettle.
- 17:49Speaker 1: So the brazil players are doing their running after it
- 17:51Speaker 1: and Daniels and the guy he's just said to you,
- 17:54Speaker 1: he's out running, and I says, right, here's my opportunity.
- 17:56Speaker 4: And he's coming up the tunnel. I was like, what
- 17:57Speaker 4: a swap? Me writ though, just.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Want yourn.
- 18:03Speaker 4: So he tormented me for the rest of the trip.
- 18:05Speaker 4: But does he get number seven? Bad numbers?
- 18:07Speaker 2: Who's the best?
- 18:08Speaker 3: Like ins of like swapping shirts, who's the who's the
- 18:11Speaker 3: most high profile shot?
- 18:11Speaker 2: You've got the collection I've got?
- 18:13Speaker 4: I had that game that was the game in ninety seven.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I got Lauren Blong. Oh nice, it was the one.
- 18:20Speaker 4: But now the laces Man you had the kind of
- 18:22Speaker 4: of that.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Yeah, Rangers. Rangers had something quite something.
- 18:27Speaker 4: That would probably be the highest profile I swapped.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Back then, you didn't really you had to keep your
- 18:34Speaker 1: jerseys more often right now nowadays they swap out.
- 18:36Speaker 2: After get like three shirts or something.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Game, So want to keep one you got in and
- 18:42Speaker 1: give Highlands the bettle but battles had.
- 18:44Speaker 5: The Battle Donald Daniels game again, but actually depending on
- 18:52Speaker 5: the game, keep my own one. Yeah, it's like yes,
- 18:55Speaker 5: I cut final yeah, or a big top on one
- 18:59Speaker 5: of my own about with Scotland, what I think it
- 19:02Speaker 5: was a flowing Norway. The second game I swapped. I'm
- 19:06Speaker 5: sure it was maybe a flow and something one Morocco.
- 19:10Speaker 5: I don't know, I don't I've still got that on,
- 19:14Speaker 5: did you know. I was just gutted as well.
- 19:21Speaker 3: We had the we Craig Brown on an episode review
- 19:23Speaker 3: for The Terrace a couple of years ago, and brilliant company.
- 19:26Speaker 3: You know, just just think you could look it honestly
- 19:28Speaker 3: kind It's just like you do the way you guys
- 19:29Speaker 3: are talking to you could hang off as every word
- 19:31Speaker 3: you're You're like you just want.
- 19:32Speaker 2: To hear his stories.
- 19:33Speaker 3: And he came prepared like a like the stats in
- 19:37Speaker 3: the game against Morocco and like a whee laminate folder.
- 19:40Speaker 3: And he still was still really annoyed that Archie McPherson
- 19:43Speaker 3: was really critical of Scotland's performance. Now, it was a
- 19:45Speaker 3: long time since since I remember. I remember I would
- 19:48Speaker 3: have been about twelve at the time. I remember thinking
- 19:51Speaker 3: would absolutely destroy them. I've never heard the Morocco before.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I could even point that the team felt.
- 19:59Speaker 2: That was it. That's exactly what he was talking about.
- 20:01Speaker 3: The stats, like talking about possession and corners, and I
- 20:03Speaker 3: remember seeing that, well, I mean they ultimately beat us
- 20:06Speaker 3: where it's most important, putting the.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Ball in the back of it and cmember Jim late
- 20:09Speaker 2: and getting loved in his line.
- 20:10Speaker 3: So that was a Haggie, but he was a Coventry
- 20:12Speaker 3: that they were there, really good Hagie, cheap pole and
- 20:20Speaker 3: that was that was what Graig.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Bully gets sent off.
- 20:25Speaker 5: And Brune he gets sent off because he died, sent them.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Off for I think the remaining team if you remember
- 20:33Speaker 1: remember that before had done that.
- 20:38Speaker 4: I think it was that that to them was they
- 20:40Speaker 4: all get.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Brownie gave us one afternoon off and Buddy disappeared and
- 20:46Speaker 1: came back there.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Raise his profile a little bit more than the next game.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Good memories.
- 20:54Speaker 1: So let's take it back then to we're talking about
- 20:57Speaker 1: the World Cup. Back to domestic your team of just
- 21:00Speaker 1: been pipped the titles are.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Get out of the playoffs, I Stennis Muir, it was
- 21:05Speaker 3: a more stress you know something that the season that
- 21:09Speaker 3: season there's been probably we won the league in twenty
- 21:11Speaker 3: three twenty four, which was incredible. So that's the first
- 21:14Speaker 3: that's the first time the team I've ever lefted a
- 21:15Speaker 3: title on their history one hundred and forty year history
- 21:17Speaker 3: and had very little show on the park. Of course
- 21:20Speaker 3: it was man course was it was amazing. It was
- 21:22Speaker 3: like so cathartic and just going out there and just
- 21:26Speaker 3: what they thank the players who had which it was
- 21:28Speaker 3: an amazing season, absolutely amazing. This season has been I
- 21:31Speaker 3: wouldn't say it's been better, but it's probably like as fun,
- 21:34Speaker 3: but for a different way. I think at the beginning
- 21:35Speaker 3: of the campaign we had been told that there had
- 21:38Speaker 3: been budget cuts that Gary Smith was working with like
- 21:41Speaker 3: just budget and we'd kept on a lot of players.
- 21:43Speaker 3: I went a lot of guys coming in in pre season.
- 21:45Speaker 3: I think we found it really difficult to sign players.
- 21:48Speaker 3: We started the season where basically we had like two
- 21:51Speaker 3: subs on the bench for the a League Cup game
- 21:53Speaker 3: against Morton. The following match in the League Cup we're
- 21:55Speaker 3: playing against Motherwell and in this postmatch into you Nasa
- 21:58Speaker 3: said we'd actually were and templating right into the SPFL
- 22:01Speaker 3: looking to forfeit the game because he just didn't have
- 22:03Speaker 3: a squad they could put out. So our expectations were
- 22:06Speaker 3: quite low going into the season. And it's the fact
- 22:08Speaker 3: that you're going right up to the very last day
- 22:10Speaker 3: taking on Inverness Caladi and so could not be more
- 22:13Speaker 3: proud that the team every weekend, that's in fact every
- 22:16Speaker 3: week that's all it was geared to, just like counting
- 22:19Speaker 3: down the days to get to the weekend to go
- 22:20Speaker 3: watch the football.
- 22:21Speaker 2: And we go all over the country, like up to.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Co Rangers, to to to peter Head, to Invernest, like
- 22:26Speaker 3: down to the Queen of the South and it was great.
- 22:28Speaker 3: It's been a brilliant season and never a million years
- 22:31Speaker 3: thought the team would finish in the second place, never
- 22:33Speaker 3: in a million years think the team would actually be challenging,
- 22:35Speaker 3: like for the title up into the to the very end.
- 22:38Speaker 3: So we go against Queen of the South, who we've
- 22:39Speaker 3: got a decent record against.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Over the piece there are there are.
- 22:42Speaker 3: A good side quite similar to Tennesspe in terms of
- 22:44Speaker 3: the profile of the players in terms of the like
- 22:46Speaker 3: a lot of physicality, a lot of trickery in the wings.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Like like good players.
- 22:50Speaker 3: And I think that that the manager Peter Murphy, when
- 22:52Speaker 3: we had we'd beaten them to now it was very
- 22:55Speaker 3: the world. I thought he was quite disrespectful the way
- 22:57Speaker 3: he spoke with them. He said, you know they got
- 22:59Speaker 3: they go to their business. Well, you know they they've
- 23:01Speaker 3: got a certain style of player. I thought he was
- 23:04Speaker 3: quite like playing down. I think he was annoyed that
- 23:06Speaker 3: Stenny had had beaten complaining about that the park and
- 23:09Speaker 3: plain about injuries and that because of.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Because of the park. So it was quite good to
- 23:12Speaker 2: quite good to get up him.
- 23:14Speaker 3: And so I'm hoping, I'm hoping we've got a chance
- 23:17Speaker 3: to beat them, and the thought of like playing championship
- 23:20Speaker 3: football next season.
- 23:21Speaker 2: I mean it's a tough game. Like Edge and Aloe
- 23:23Speaker 2: are good sides.
- 23:24Speaker 3: I think I think Ergia are probably the famous I
- 23:26Speaker 3: was at there game against Good at Morton on Friday
- 23:29Speaker 3: right when they do when they drew one one with him.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I think they're a good team, you know.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I think they got a lot of good players in
- 23:34Speaker 3: the team, like to pass the ball, a lot of
- 23:35Speaker 3: good combinations in the park, like a guy like Chris
- 23:38Speaker 3: Mokry up front, who's quite like not you're an orthodox striker,
- 23:42Speaker 3: the fact he's almost like a false nine you and
- 23:44Speaker 3: Henderson playing off them. They're gonna be a tough team,
- 23:47Speaker 3: but you know, I never thought that we'd be challenges
- 23:49Speaker 3: of the title, So who knows, who knows happened?
- 23:51Speaker 4: He's quite a young team.
- 23:52Speaker 3: I think it's a good profile and there's a couple
- 23:54Speaker 3: of older guys there, like guys like Buchanan, Darren Jamison,
- 23:58Speaker 3: Dale Carrick from The Heart's Player there and Ross Meek
- 24:01Speaker 3: and the other guys who are like over over thirty.
- 24:04Speaker 2: The rest of the team, it's all like sort of
- 24:05Speaker 2: like mid twenties, some teenagers in there.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Guys.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I've seen a clip on I think it was Twitter.
- 24:11Speaker 1: They were coming back to the stadium after the game. Yeah,
- 24:13Speaker 1: there's a few of the guys. You've got a bar
- 24:15Speaker 1: at the they were kind of out clapping them back
- 24:18Speaker 1: and every every kid that walked by, I was like,
- 24:21Speaker 1: this looks a bodybe just same really young eye.
- 24:25Speaker 2: It was good good players as well.
- 24:26Speaker 3: It's like first and foremost like guys that are like
- 24:29Speaker 3: like technically really good players, guys that can get and
- 24:33Speaker 3: just guys that are really fit and guys that really
- 24:35Speaker 3: fit into what Nesmith wants to do. There's that there's a
- 24:36Speaker 3: lot of emphasis on like like what being good without
- 24:40Speaker 3: the ball. He was talking around an interview. He was
- 24:42Speaker 3: talking about Ollie White, who we've gotten loan from mother. Well,
- 24:44Speaker 3: you know, when the players that come through the cooperation
- 24:46Speaker 3: agreement between the clubs, all of White's been brilliant. He
- 24:48Speaker 3: was saying that when we played Falkirk in the Scottish Cup,
- 24:51Speaker 3: it went to one hundred and twenty minutes, went to
- 24:54Speaker 3: extra time, only White it covered seventeen kilometers over the
- 24:57Speaker 3: course of that game.
- 24:58Speaker 2: And there's there's a lot of other players that can
- 25:00Speaker 2: that can do that.
- 25:01Speaker 3: So it's legs and quality and technical ability and pace
- 25:04Speaker 3: and abundance and just like guys that it's not something
- 25:08Speaker 3: I've really seen it stendess me before, but it's guys
- 25:09Speaker 3: that have been there for like a long time. Normally,
- 25:11Speaker 3: you know, the lower leaves of the churned. Guys are
- 25:13Speaker 3: there for like one season, two season, move on the
- 25:15Speaker 3: core of the team. There's like Darren jameson greg By
- 25:17Speaker 3: Cannon coming for the fourth year at the club, Like
- 25:20Speaker 3: Mikey Anderson next year he's going to be in a
- 25:22Speaker 3: six year rossmaking across two spells.
- 25:24Speaker 2: He's going to his eighth year.
- 25:25Speaker 3: There's a lot of continuity there and as a fan,
- 25:27Speaker 3: it's brilliant as guys that you are like really identifiable with.
- 25:31Speaker 4: And Van.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Absolutely and yeah together, yeah totally too much, totally. I
- 25:42Speaker 3: think I think are going to change a wee bit now.
- 25:45Speaker 3: There's going to be a couple of guys. I think
- 25:47Speaker 3: it's like Gary Oliver, Alfreyagum and Tom Lang who were
- 25:49Speaker 3: really good for them when they were in like League
- 25:51Speaker 3: One and the championship.
- 25:52Speaker 2: But I think the club's probably evolved past them a
- 25:55Speaker 2: wee bit.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Probably the championship that is the ceiling for a part
- 26:02Speaker 3: time team, and it'd be great if we could do it.
- 26:04Speaker 3: And it's the same guys, like the same back for
- 26:06Speaker 3: the same goalkeeper who won League Two.
- 26:08Speaker 2: That you can go up and hopefully hold your own
- 26:11Speaker 2: in a division above. It's great. It's a total gift.
- 26:13Speaker 3: They've been following the club for more than twenty years
- 26:15Speaker 3: and the last like three and a hal years pretty
- 26:16Speaker 3: much since Nathanuth walked down the door. I've just been incredible.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Can'ry thank him enough?
- 26:22Speaker 5: Even the part time one, even the championship and our
- 26:24Speaker 5: broth well they have done yeah, getting into the playoffs.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Incredible because they when David Gold and Colin Hamilton took over,
- 26:32Speaker 3: they were bought in the League one that time and
- 26:34Speaker 3: they've they've done really well.
- 26:36Speaker 2: In terms of the guys.
- 26:37Speaker 3: They will say, I know that our browth, I've got
- 26:38Speaker 3: a bit more money compared to some other like part
- 26:41Speaker 3: time teams. I was at gay Field earlier in the season.
- 26:45Speaker 3: That the first thing I've been there a number of years,
- 26:46Speaker 3: and just like seeing how like spruced up it is.
- 26:48Speaker 3: The money it's not just been put on the playing
- 26:50Speaker 3: staff in the infantry as well as like a really
- 26:53Speaker 3: nice office and club shopping there.
- 26:55Speaker 2: It's great, but it still retains the charm of Gayfield.
- 26:58Speaker 3: You can still walk around the you can still walk
- 27:00Speaker 3: around the pitch, so they've they've done really well.
- 27:03Speaker 2: It's not outside the realms of possibility. You know.
- 27:05Speaker 3: It's better to be like a like a good part
- 27:07Speaker 3: time team rather like a mediocre full time team. I
- 27:09Speaker 3: think that, like when I'm talking about fitness there, I
- 27:11Speaker 3: think there's guys who want to be good football players.
- 27:15Speaker 3: They've completely committed to being football players. And even if
- 27:17Speaker 3: you're part time, guys that look after themselves outside the game, Guys.
- 27:20Speaker 2: That take it really seriously to eat right.
- 27:22Speaker 3: They're at the gym, like if they're not when they're
- 27:24Speaker 3: not training at the gym doing running and exercising. And
- 27:27Speaker 3: I think we've got a lot of guys that that
- 27:29Speaker 3: really look after themselves.
- 27:30Speaker 2: And I think that's it doesn't matter if you're full
- 27:32Speaker 2: to a party.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Also, we've got more time like to talk and shape
- 27:35Speaker 3: and and stuff like that. But if you're looking after
- 27:37Speaker 3: yourself and you you all buy into what the manager's
- 27:39Speaker 3: looking to do, then that's a huge advantage.
- 27:41Speaker 4: To start the playoffs Friday.
- 27:44Speaker 3: They start the playoffs on I think Friday. I am
- 27:48Speaker 3: just at home. First, we're away at Queen's. Unfortunately, I'm
- 27:52Speaker 3: not going to I'm not going to be able to
- 27:53Speaker 3: to make either game. I've got that a dinner out
- 27:55Speaker 3: on Tuesday night, and then I've got I'm coming up
- 27:58Speaker 3: for my fortieth is is next week and so my
- 28:01Speaker 3: makes have organized like a day out for me on
- 28:03Speaker 3: the Saturday. So I'm really looking forward to it. But
- 28:05Speaker 3: it's just sort of we'll be like half half looking
- 28:07Speaker 3: at the phone. It's the entire time. If we do
- 28:11Speaker 3: make it into the finals, the final is taking place
- 28:13Speaker 3: at some Saturday, the sixteenth and a half five kickoff.
- 28:16Speaker 3: It's been moved for the television supposed to have a
- 28:18Speaker 3: family dinner. I've had to say to them, listen, we
- 28:21Speaker 3: might need to. We might need to to arrange because
- 28:24Speaker 3: the prospect of like seeing the team getting promoted to
- 28:26Speaker 3: the championship and not being there to do it. I
- 28:28Speaker 3: couldn't like after the season, missing the Chemi finals maybe
- 28:31Speaker 3: that's one thing, but the finals.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Couldn't couldn't miss that, not a chance.
- 28:35Speaker 1: So career wise obviously described at the start as the
- 28:38Speaker 1: man off the teley? Where where where did you go
- 28:41Speaker 1: from school? How did you your career?
- 28:43Speaker 3: So from from school I went to study Dinglis's at
- 28:47Speaker 3: University of Glasgow and basically didn't take it as seriously
- 28:50Speaker 3: as I should have done. You know, basically I kind
- 28:51Speaker 3: of went went to lectures like just mucked her out
- 28:54Speaker 3: that didn't and didn't didn't didn't work is hard as
- 28:57Speaker 3: I sure have done, and left with a pretty a
- 28:58Speaker 3: pretty mediocre degree, to be honest, and then went into
- 29:01Speaker 3: work at like call center, working, and and so I
- 29:04Speaker 3: was just kind of like drifting a period. I was
- 29:07Speaker 3: playing in a band a period as well, And I
- 29:09Speaker 3: don't know if it was like thinking, oh, I'm going
- 29:12Speaker 3: to make it, so that's your excuse not to work
- 29:15Speaker 3: work hard academically because you've got this in the back
- 29:17Speaker 3: burner and you can maybe go and kick on and
- 29:19Speaker 3: become become a musician. But I got a chance to
- 29:22Speaker 3: go back to university of a friend of mine who
- 29:25Speaker 3: I went to went to Glasgow with, who had gone
- 29:27Speaker 3: to the Glassow Calidor University study of postgrad in multimedia journalism.
- 29:31Speaker 3: And off the back of her qualification she went to
- 29:33Speaker 3: work for the BBC's like a researcher for the Jewels
- 29:36Speaker 3: Holland Show. So she was getting to like work with
- 29:39Speaker 3: like I think she meant like you too, and muse
- 29:41Speaker 3: and stuff like that, so really like like topping. And
- 29:43Speaker 3: she was telling about the course and saying like this,
- 29:46Speaker 3: it's brilliant. I had a great time and I've gone
- 29:48Speaker 3: I didn't eat. She didn't even finish it because when
- 29:51Speaker 3: when she did a work experience at the BBC, there
- 29:54Speaker 3: was somebody leaving and she got on so well. Then
- 29:56Speaker 3: they offered her the person is the person's jobs, so
- 29:58Speaker 3: she didn't even complete it. She just got and see
- 30:00Speaker 3: you got into it. So I applied for it off
- 30:02Speaker 3: the back of that and it was lucky enough to
- 30:05Speaker 3: get in. And when I was doing the course, I
- 30:08Speaker 3: was viewing Twitter a lot of the time. I was
- 30:09Speaker 3: talking to a boy, John Maxwell, who's a Ross County fan,
- 30:12Speaker 3: and we were talking about how there's nothing there's not
- 30:14Speaker 3: like a quality website for like lower league Scottish football.
- 30:17Speaker 2: He's a Ross County fan.
- 30:18Speaker 3: This is the period where they were they've gone like
- 30:21Speaker 3: forty forty games on beating when they won the first
- 30:23Speaker 3: Division and went into the championship under den Ack Adams,
- 30:26Speaker 3: I think it was. But we were talking about how
- 30:29Speaker 3: there's not like a really good place for lower league Scottish.
- 30:32Speaker 3: So we started this website, brought another couple of guys
- 30:35Speaker 3: Sean mcgiggan who would a view for the Terrace with
- 30:36Speaker 3: as well. He was one of the guys, and off
- 30:38Speaker 3: the back of that we did it for like three years.
- 30:40Speaker 3: One of the teams we covered the remember like yeah
- 30:42Speaker 3: you Party Thistle team. We wrote a lot about them
- 30:45Speaker 3: because they were they were like probably pound for pound,
- 30:47Speaker 3: I think one of the best lower league teams of
- 30:48Speaker 3: all time, absolutely like superb side, privileged to write about.
- 30:52Speaker 3: And then off the back of that, Craig Fowler, who
- 30:55Speaker 3: runs a Terrace podcast, got in touch and said they
- 30:57Speaker 3: were looking to expand their coverage away from just talking
- 31:00Speaker 3: at the top flight into the lower leagues. Would like
- 31:02Speaker 3: to be involved as like one hundred percent and so
- 31:04Speaker 3: had been involved with the terryst podcast ever since come
- 31:08Speaker 3: to the summer at twenty eighteen.
- 31:10Speaker 2: So that's a long story, but this is just the contexts.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Come to summer twenty eighteen, the BBC Scotland Channel was
- 31:15Speaker 3: in the process of launching and Craig Feller got a
- 31:18Speaker 3: DM on Twitter from a guy, David Taran, who's like
- 31:20Speaker 3: a commissioner at the BBC Big Hearts Fan and I
- 31:22Speaker 3: had listened to the terryst podcast and he explain to him,
- 31:25Speaker 3: We've got this hour long slot that's opening up for
- 31:28Speaker 3: like a magazine style football show. Could the Terrorist podcast
- 31:32Speaker 3: be turned into a TV show? And so one of
- 31:35Speaker 3: the guys who's involved with Terras Boys, Robert Borthwick, was
- 31:38Speaker 3: working for a creative agency at the time, Studio Something.
- 31:40Speaker 3: All very serendipitous and they were looking to break into television.
- 31:44Speaker 3: So Fowler met with Jordan Lairdonian Greenhill, who owned Studio Something,
- 31:48Speaker 3: and the discussions got underway. We were giving money to
- 31:50Speaker 3: shoot a pilot, filmed it in Leath and we just
- 31:53Speaker 3: thought like, this is just going to be a class
- 31:54Speaker 3: week thing we got made.
- 31:55Speaker 2: I've made a TV show. They'll never go anywhere.
- 31:57Speaker 3: I think there was us and it's like four other
- 31:59Speaker 3: people competing for it like some high profile mings.
- 32:01Speaker 2: We just thought like this'd be a good laugh, let's
- 32:04Speaker 2: see how we get on.
- 32:05Speaker 3: And then a couple of months later find out that
- 32:06Speaker 3: we had been picked, and it was like incredible, you know,
- 32:09Speaker 3: to hang out with your mates talk about football, all
- 32:11Speaker 3: levels of football, the kind of not just like focusing
- 32:13Speaker 3: on like Rangers and Celtic and Scotland. You're talking about
- 32:16Speaker 3: like ann and breaking and counting beef and all that.
- 32:19Speaker 3: And that was twenty nineteen and it's been going since then.
- 32:23Speaker 3: So we're not one hundred percent sure of it's going
- 32:24Speaker 3: to be coming back, you know, it's a bit of
- 32:26Speaker 3: a tough economic climate for the for the BBC and
- 32:28Speaker 3: for the BBC Scotland Channel, but hope, hopefully we can
- 32:31Speaker 3: come back for season number nine. So it's been it's
- 32:34Speaker 3: been amazing fun to do. And that's obviously how I
- 32:36Speaker 3: got to know jackiecause Jackie was one of the guests.
- 32:39Speaker 4: He was and it wasn't my finest hour, was it?
- 32:42Speaker 4: On Twitter? One night took osten.
- 32:45Speaker 2: That that's why I know something.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Actually, I'd actually completely forgotten about it until when Jackied
- 32:50Speaker 3: got in. All because because Jackie actually reminded me about
- 32:58Speaker 3: that and I went back and I went back and looked,
- 33:00Speaker 3: and I thought it was quite.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Funny because I just I've met you in the past, simeon.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Night we'd work together at the Scottish Cup events.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Was on your show not long after because it brought.
- 33:10Speaker 3: It was like listen, I I you know something. I
- 33:17Speaker 3: understand why people might not necessarily like of you for
- 33:20Speaker 3: the terrace.
- 33:20Speaker 2: You know. It's like it's I think and maybe I've
- 33:24Speaker 2: changed the wee bit.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Now I'm not just saying this because it's actually grown
- 33:27Speaker 1: on as that's good time you're talking about that thing
- 33:36Speaker 1: as well. Was it less of Hammon? And we were
- 33:39Speaker 1: doing a it.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Was me, you, Jerry Crawley and Liam Craig, Yes.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Slam Craig and I've walked into the room and I've
- 33:44Speaker 1: seen your hosting it and I thought.
- 33:47Speaker 4: This could be uncomfortable, but it was actually I.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Was brilliant, you know that. It was. The event itself
- 33:52Speaker 2: was really good.
- 33:52Speaker 3: But I remember, like beforehand, we were in one of
- 33:54Speaker 3: the rooms in the GM macallene pavilion there and it
- 33:57Speaker 3: was just just before us and we're sitting around the
- 33:59Speaker 3: table like doing just now and I think we were
- 34:01Speaker 3: talking about like youth football and youth development, and I
- 34:04Speaker 3: was just like, I've got I was like a big
- 34:06Speaker 3: interesting I was just asking questions and it was just
- 34:08Speaker 3: amazing listen to like folk just it was a really
- 34:11Speaker 3: really interesting discussion. I mean, so I was just like
- 34:14Speaker 3: that that's brilliant and that like say that the event
- 34:16Speaker 3: went really well. So I can there was never any
- 34:18Speaker 3: of what was doing.
- 34:19Speaker 2: We were like pull you up or anything like that.
- 34:21Speaker 2: I can understand me. But you know, you know something
- 34:25Speaker 2: that it's like it's to begin with.
- 34:27Speaker 3: When the show first went out in twenty nineteen, you know,
- 34:30Speaker 3: it's very different to wat's out there. You know, we're
- 34:33Speaker 3: seeing it.
- 34:33Speaker 2: It's not as unusual you know, fanly content. You're seeing
- 34:36Speaker 2: a lot of the like Sky.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Sports for instance, they're producing a lot of programs where
- 34:40Speaker 3: there's finally content. But I'd think back in twenty nineteen,
- 34:42Speaker 3: there wasn't as much of it there, and I think
- 34:45Speaker 3: people might watch it and be like the fuck are
- 34:46Speaker 3: these guys what they talking about? And the way the
- 34:48Speaker 3: show's presented as well, it's it's there's like different rappers.
- 34:52Speaker 3: There's like ones called like you Build you Ultimate five Team,
- 34:54Speaker 3: like the guys that are doing well. So say, for instance,
- 34:58Speaker 3: Martin Giggan, we'll take take take big, big market Gunhew
- 35:01Speaker 3: that party because you can put them on your five
- 35:03Speaker 3: team and basically a chance to bring clips of Martin
- 35:05Speaker 3: mcgag and scoring goals and talking about them and just
- 35:07Speaker 3: the way it's done is basically just a discussion about football.
- 35:10Speaker 3: But it's got an interesting wrapper on it, and I
- 35:12Speaker 3: can understand people watching it and not liking it a
- 35:15Speaker 3: bit weird that first, you know, when when you first
- 35:17Speaker 3: see the criticism on Twitter, you would work really hard
- 35:20Speaker 3: to pull episodes together and you think this is this
- 35:23Speaker 3: is great, We've got something more really proud of, and
- 35:25Speaker 3: it goes out to this is fucking shite. You know,
- 35:27Speaker 3: it's quite weird to but now it's something you see criticism,
- 35:30Speaker 3: it's like, it's just it's a bit bad when it's
- 35:35Speaker 3: come for guys. So you mail for your sticker books
- 35:36Speaker 3: and you saw a chair for Scotland.
- 35:38Speaker 2: That's that's a bit.
- 35:39Speaker 3: That's a bit different. But but I get I get it,
- 35:41Speaker 3: and what I what I do quite quite like. And
- 35:43Speaker 3: just what you're saying there is like people who maybe
- 35:45Speaker 3: have slagged off in the past, but see I'll give
- 35:47Speaker 3: us another chance and they're actually Nactually I quite quite
- 35:50Speaker 3: like it.
- 35:50Speaker 2: I can quite end it.
- 35:51Speaker 3: So that's that's nice because it was on It was
- 35:56Speaker 3: the knowledge that you guys had the lower leagues, Yeah,
- 35:59Speaker 3: because they age. You said that this is as a
- 36:02Speaker 3: premier and I think there's so many of we hidden
- 36:05Speaker 3: gems on total leagues that get a chance to play,
- 36:08Speaker 3: you know. The biggest obviously one has been Andy Robertson
- 36:11Speaker 3: over the year Queen's part for League Two that we
- 36:14Speaker 3: took up the road.
- 36:15Speaker 5: But I always looked at the lower leagues. I always
- 36:17Speaker 5: looked at the kids here get just getting them playing
- 36:20Speaker 5: the experience, you know, because I think in today's football
- 36:23Speaker 5: it's difficult to get them competitive games. Yeah, you know,
- 36:27Speaker 5: if they don't, if they're not good enough at sixteen
- 36:30Speaker 5: eighteen to go into a first team, let go.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know I wasn't ready at that age.
- 36:37Speaker 5: I don't know about you, but maybe you were. You
- 36:40Speaker 5: just getting Breaklant and Celtic, but it's so difficult.
- 36:43Speaker 4: It was different for us.
- 36:44Speaker 1: We touched on it before about the reserve football back
- 36:47Speaker 1: when we were playing.
- 36:47Speaker 3: It was remember something that discussion was that proper you
- 36:50Speaker 3: were playing the proper seeing your pros were you were
- 36:53Speaker 3: playing against seing your pros.
- 36:54Speaker 1: I remember playing against Hats at ten Castle and Emmon
- 36:57Speaker 1: Barnon was playing sweeper. I had watched them and Bannon
- 37:00Speaker 1: flying up and down the wind for Dundee righted and
- 37:02Speaker 1: he was playing at sweeper. Any more or less than
- 37:04Speaker 1: they gave me a kick, But it was a lesson
- 37:06Speaker 1: for me. Yeah, so that when they jump to first
- 37:10Speaker 1: team football, it wasn't as huge who it is nowadays.
- 37:12Speaker 4: I think it is you know, the pol stuff.
- 37:14Speaker 1: It's such a big gap to get there, and I
- 37:17Speaker 1: think the reserve football I I take now squad sizes
- 37:21Speaker 1: and stuff. It can't we can't do it. But looking
- 37:23Speaker 1: back I would change that. That was great education for us.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Making sure as well. I think that's why the cooperation
- 37:29Speaker 3: agreement is good. Like I think you've the clubs have
- 37:32Speaker 3: got to work hard with one of us. So I mean,
- 37:34Speaker 3: I'm going to use the aample like annonn Athletic went
- 37:36Speaker 3: into a cooperation agreement with kil Marnik and like they think,
- 37:39Speaker 3: they took four players on loan, two of them were
- 37:41Speaker 3: sent back like after a couple of weeks. Well, I
- 37:42Speaker 3: Gibson speaking just says like they're just not ready. They've
- 37:45Speaker 3: done the more that I can't. They're not ready to
- 37:48Speaker 3: play for ann and so that they're well off it.
- 37:50Speaker 3: But you look at a good example like Ala and Rangers.
- 37:54Speaker 3: There's a number of good players they like think like
- 37:56Speaker 3: Calum Burnside, Calum Adams and Lewis Stewart have come on
- 37:59Speaker 3: for Readers now, but not they're going to be good
- 38:00Speaker 3: enough for Rangers as a as a different story, because
- 38:02Speaker 3: I's very rare that that young players like breaking a Rangers.
- 38:06Speaker 3: But these guys have got a season on their belts
- 38:08Speaker 3: playing competitive football that will hold them in brilliant instead
- 38:11Speaker 3: for the for careers. Allie White is it ex Tennismere.
- 38:14Speaker 3: I think he's got a right good chance. He's a big,
- 38:17Speaker 3: strong boy as well, the way he runs quite like
- 38:19Speaker 3: John McGain, the way he can.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Sort of like pass players.
- 38:22Speaker 3: So you hopefully that that he can make an impact
- 38:24Speaker 3: a mother will or go on loan in the championship
- 38:27Speaker 3: or elsewhere. I think it's one of the benefits about
- 38:29Speaker 3: being a part time team as well. The parent club
- 38:31Speaker 3: can keep an eye on you and you can show
- 38:32Speaker 3: you and then you can you can send off to
- 38:34Speaker 3: like one night a week and then and get the games.
- 38:36Speaker 3: But it's a I think that the developing youth players.
- 38:38Speaker 3: I think you ask a hundred different people, you'll probably
- 38:40Speaker 3: a hundred different answers. Is to the best way, to
- 38:43Speaker 3: the best way.
- 38:43Speaker 2: To do it?
- 38:44Speaker 4: Follow that I will, I'll give you the apologies.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Please, I'm pleasing with the chance to you watch it
- 38:54Speaker 2: and you've enjoyed it.
- 38:55Speaker 4: You mentioned a band that you played in a band
- 38:57Speaker 4: I did.
- 38:58Speaker 3: What was your role that I played the best guitar,
- 39:00Speaker 3: played the bass guitar. I've always always wanted to play
- 39:05Speaker 3: the bass guitar because I like it was a terrible name.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Were called Marlowe, which is just what it sounds like
- 39:10Speaker 2: a dog. You know.
- 39:13Speaker 3: No under the band didn't make it. No on the
- 39:15Speaker 3: band didn't make it. But I played played the bass guitar.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Always members a wee boy wanted to play the bass guitar.
- 39:21Speaker 3: I just think it looked really cool. You know, that's
- 39:22Speaker 3: sort of like a quite a physical instrument. You know,
- 39:25Speaker 3: like what you see that somebody playing with the players,
- 39:27Speaker 3: and why why is this? Why is this person like
- 39:28Speaker 3: playing with their fingers and I like my parents parents separated,
- 39:33Speaker 3: my stepdad moved.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Into the house and he had like guitars with him.
- 39:35Speaker 3: He's a guitar player, so it was like acoustic guitars
- 39:37Speaker 3: and electric guitars are in the house. And when my
- 39:40Speaker 3: dad met my step mom, my stepbrother Christopher calls Himkippi.
- 39:43Speaker 3: He was a keyboard player and guitar player. So it
- 39:45Speaker 3: was like in both houses there was loads of musical instruments.
- 39:48Speaker 3: And I can still remember like Kippy's girlfriend at the time,
- 39:51Speaker 3: she gave him a copy of the Stone Roses debut album.
- 39:54Speaker 2: It was like an anniversary edition. It was like a
- 39:55Speaker 2: double disc.
- 39:56Speaker 3: And the it was quite nice at that, like a
- 39:58Speaker 3: booklet as well with four hoes and stuff, and we
- 40:01Speaker 3: like we essay about the album. So the album on
- 40:03Speaker 3: one disc and then like what the world was waiting for?
- 40:05Speaker 3: Fools gold and all that, and then the second disc
- 40:08Speaker 3: and I can I can still remember clear as they
- 40:10Speaker 3: hearing she bangs and drums, but it was like hearing
- 40:16Speaker 3: she bangs drums and that was like, I mean bass guitar.
- 40:19Speaker 3: So I had like a wee bit of savings at
- 40:20Speaker 3: the time, went to a guy in Polment just outside Falk,
- 40:22Speaker 3: but offender mustang bass like bright orange color which I
- 40:25Speaker 3: still got and that was it like playing the bass.
- 40:28Speaker 2: First song learned to play.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Was the Chain by Fleetwood mac End of the Chain
- 40:32Speaker 3: and then just like like got into it for their
- 40:35Speaker 3: So Marlow was good fun. It was good for We
- 40:37Speaker 3: were really into like really into you too. That's that's
- 40:40Speaker 3: my favorite band to the point where I think we
- 40:43Speaker 3: had a song called a Cross Winter and I think
- 40:45Speaker 3: if Bono was to hear.
- 40:45Speaker 2: It, he could could take us to court for copyright.
- 40:48Speaker 3: And it was of about three different you two songs
- 40:51Speaker 3: in especially five minutes. But it was it was good
- 40:53Speaker 3: fun like it was good for there's nothing do you
- 40:55Speaker 3: still see the guys? Still see the guys I like,
- 40:57Speaker 3: like one of the guys in band was my step
- 40:58Speaker 3: but the kipe he played like a guitar. Make Conny
- 41:02Speaker 3: was the was a singer and it was there's there's
- 41:05Speaker 3: moments I still think about some of the most like
- 41:08Speaker 3: like genuinely like like some of the most life affirming moments.
- 41:11Speaker 2: And I don't know if you guys have ever found this.
- 41:13Speaker 3: If you like play music or you are you you
- 41:15Speaker 3: write stuff and that, but see when you're you're you're
- 41:17Speaker 3: writing a song, you're you're working at the cord sequences,
- 41:19Speaker 3: not that you're working about how to take a song
- 41:21Speaker 3: from like say the bridge into the chorus. I can
- 41:24Speaker 3: still remember you're coming up with ideas and just a
- 41:26Speaker 3: bit where somebody plays a certain chord into one and
- 41:29Speaker 3: it's a bit where everyone's like, that's it, that's it, brilliant.
- 41:32Speaker 3: I can remember as well. That is quite indulgent.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Here's something you going down memory lane.
- 41:36Speaker 3: But we had briefly played with synthesizer and to connected
- 41:40Speaker 3: into in the practice room, it connected into the like
- 41:43Speaker 3: the speakers where the simon come out and to get
- 41:45Speaker 3: to the levels you put on our peggie and go
- 41:49Speaker 3: and then they're just the levels. I remembered like mucking
- 41:51Speaker 3: about the synthesizer and my stepbrother like Keepy playing the
- 41:53Speaker 3: guitars guitar part over the top of it, and Mark
- 41:56Speaker 3: the drummers playing this drum beat, and this song called
- 41:58Speaker 3: who Do You Love came together. So it's fifteen minutes.
- 42:01Speaker 3: It still stands up. I'll send it to you because
- 42:03Speaker 3: it's like very good. But that's one of the moments
- 42:05Speaker 3: where it's just like was like we're on something here
- 42:08Speaker 3: and it's like those are some are some of my
- 42:10Speaker 3: favorite memories. I want to kind of, you know something
- 42:15Speaker 3: of the most difficult thing. I think it's see when
- 42:19Speaker 3: you're see when you're younger, and seeing you've got that
- 42:21Speaker 3: energy and enthusiasm, see like driving long distances, like say,
- 42:24Speaker 3: if you've got like a remember playing gig like down
- 42:26Speaker 3: at at berrick upon tweet like it didn't get paid
- 42:28Speaker 3: for it, but it's just a gig. So you drive
- 42:30Speaker 3: down like to like the two about hours from like
- 42:32Speaker 3: saying Falkirk at the time to the gig, and you're
- 42:35Speaker 3: getting back at.
- 42:36Speaker 2: The house about like one in the morning.
- 42:37Speaker 3: But you don't you mind, because it's just getting the
- 42:39Speaker 3: chance to perform your music in front of people. Whereas
- 42:41Speaker 3: now when you're older, you still have the fire in
- 42:44Speaker 3: the belly to go and do it. And as part
- 42:47Speaker 3: of it, thinks I just love to love to like
- 42:50Speaker 3: just play songs and write songs, even if it's just
- 42:52Speaker 3: for yourself.
- 42:53Speaker 2: But it's just it's fine.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Times difficult, you know, it is now where everyone's times
- 42:57Speaker 3: at a premium.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Folk have got waynes folk have got.
- 43:00Speaker 3: The responsibilities like outside of it, and it's a shame.
- 43:03Speaker 3: I've still got the guitars in the house and I
- 43:04Speaker 3: still like just pick them up and play them from
- 43:06Speaker 3: time things just when you're walking on your kind of
- 43:08Speaker 3: work at your desk and you're you're taking away breaks,
- 43:10Speaker 3: you just get the guitar around and you I just
- 43:12Speaker 3: just have a wee shot and play the old songs.
- 43:14Speaker 2: But it's great, man, it's great. It's it's a total gift.
- 43:17Speaker 3: And I think that if if everyone like music, if
- 43:20Speaker 3: you've got the opportunity to play an instiment flight from
- 43:22Speaker 3: kids all outwards, it's it's a total gift.
- 43:25Speaker 2: You do.
- 43:26Speaker 1: No, no, I just I've been asked us before a
- 43:29Speaker 1: couple of cards, but nothing of.
- 43:31Speaker 3: How you're talking about, like like kicking on both for lessons.
- 43:34Speaker 1: And I had lessons when I was Celtic, Big Big
- 43:37Speaker 1: Brian and he will put me onto somebody. But I
- 43:39Speaker 1: just get frustrated because I couldn't play instantly doing to
- 43:42Speaker 1: stick at it. You know something, You're like, why can
- 43:44Speaker 1: I not play this full song straight?
- 43:45Speaker 2: Totally?
- 43:46Speaker 3: I think it's when you first start playing the guitar,
- 43:48Speaker 3: you're basically like training your fingers to go into weird
- 43:51Speaker 3: like see the idea of like like there's me playing
- 43:54Speaker 3: like a C major corda but it's the idea of
- 43:57Speaker 3: like bending all these fingers into position is really difficult
- 43:59Speaker 3: in that takes patience and that takes time.
- 44:01Speaker 2: And if if you.
- 44:03Speaker 4: Play Oasis straight away, although a three cords it might
- 44:07Speaker 4: have been, you.
- 44:07Speaker 3: Could have, you could have, but it's just it's that
- 44:09Speaker 3: sort of stuff that you can you just need to
- 44:12Speaker 3: push past that.
- 44:13Speaker 2: That's probably I mean, I've played the trombone but for
- 44:15Speaker 2: a week bit at school.
- 44:17Speaker 3: No, if you try to think of like all the instruments,
- 44:20Speaker 3: you could have had the opportunity to play the trumpet
- 44:22Speaker 3: or the trompblone, but I thought that's going to look cool,
- 44:25Speaker 3: whereas the big promadenny joint because of a pain in
- 44:28Speaker 3: the arse, Like walking to school with this big thing
- 44:30Speaker 3: slapping around, where's a trumpet would have been quite like
- 44:32Speaker 3: Miles Davis and stuff like that, that would have been
- 44:33Speaker 3: quite cool. Trombone saxophone being quite cool.
- 44:37Speaker 2: You know.
- 44:37Speaker 3: See when you're in the house and you're trying to
- 44:39Speaker 3: practice your scales and the trombone, it's just just annoying
- 44:43Speaker 3: for everyone, absolutely, even more so than like the bass guitar,
- 44:46Speaker 3: and like like a trombone would have I really know everyone,
- 44:49Speaker 3: but that's the kind of regret I didn't stick in it.
- 44:51Speaker 2: That it's one of those things that when you're younger,
- 44:53Speaker 2: you don't.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Think it's particularly cool, like playing the trroumbone, whereas now
- 44:56Speaker 3: you get older you think you could be.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Those bands that have brought the likes of the trumpet
- 45:01Speaker 1: and stuff as well.
- 45:01Speaker 3: Like I like to see Olivia Dean actually the Hydrolancy
- 45:06Speaker 3: on Wednesday, and just like looking at her band of
- 45:08Speaker 3: guys or saxophone player, trumpet, a trombone playing, they look
- 45:11Speaker 3: really cool. Those guys are a really good show. But
- 45:14Speaker 3: it's one of those things.
- 45:17Speaker 4: Well, on that note, then musical. We'll finish with what
- 45:21Speaker 4: we do.
- 45:21Speaker 1: We get our guests to recommend to the next guest
- 45:24Speaker 1: a film, a band, and a song.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Oh okay, when we caught you on the.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Hot So we had Shabana hern on last and her
- 45:33Speaker 1: film was quite a recent one, one battle after another.
- 45:36Speaker 4: Oh right, DiCaprio, we've seen it. It's really good.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Looks.
- 45:39Speaker 3: I love Paul Thomas Anderson stuff, like I think I've
- 45:41Speaker 3: watched all his other movies and that's the one.
- 45:42Speaker 5: That's what.
- 45:44Speaker 2: I'll definitely get that go.
- 45:45Speaker 4: She went for West Life. World of her Own is
- 45:49Speaker 4: the song.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Okay, already heard that one, that one, and she never.
- 45:52Speaker 4: Picked an album.
- 45:53Speaker 1: We had Adam Scott brown on and both haven't picked
- 45:55Speaker 1: an album. They're too young to pick albums. There was
- 45:59Speaker 1: no such thing, which is older UBI.
- 46:01Speaker 4: Would just be a scooter. So he was, so, we
- 46:04Speaker 4: want a film off you.
- 46:05Speaker 2: We want an.
- 46:05Speaker 3: Album okay, okay, and a song okay, okay, Right, I'll
- 46:08Speaker 3: give you.
- 46:08Speaker 2: I'll give you a film first, Paul Thomas Hans Move
- 46:13Speaker 2: One Battle.
- 46:14Speaker 3: After that, I'll give you the most recent movie that
- 46:16Speaker 3: I watched watching it's excellent.
- 46:18Speaker 2: The band she's been a shearing.
- 46:19Speaker 4: I've seen it.
- 46:20Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 46:21Speaker 4: Yes, with the.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Colin Farrell and Brendan.
- 46:25Speaker 4: Was my wife though she did a like a bathroom.
- 46:27Speaker 4: It was really good on the island.
- 46:32Speaker 3: It's like it's like two guys might have been they've
- 46:34Speaker 3: been friends for years and all of a sudden, one
- 46:36Speaker 3: term or something just says, listen, I don't want to
- 46:38Speaker 3: be friends with you anymore.
- 46:39Speaker 2: I find you really dull.
- 46:40Speaker 3: I want to credit and then I just just escalates.
- 46:47Speaker 2: No, it's it's excellent. Have you seen him Brucees, because
- 46:51Speaker 2: it's the same.
- 46:51Speaker 3: Guy that road director of Bruis's Colin Farrell and Brendan
- 46:55Speaker 3: Gleish and so if you like that really it's really.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Funny actually as well, so good choice. I highly recommend
- 47:02Speaker 2: that album and a song I'll Get You My, I'll.
- 47:05Speaker 3: Get My Favorite album of all time. Favorite album of
- 47:07Speaker 3: all time is Hats by the Blue Nile. So we
- 47:09Speaker 3: were just talking for we bought it of record. But
- 47:11Speaker 3: the Blue and Isle were a band from Glasgow. I'm
- 47:15Speaker 3: not sure the opposite of prolific is, but this is
- 47:17Speaker 3: what the blueele They released four albums across twenty years,
- 47:20Speaker 3: and their first tw albums, I Walk Across the Rooftops
- 47:22Speaker 3: and Hats are like genuine ten out of ten albums,
- 47:25Speaker 3: and Hats the second album came out in nineteen eighty nine.
- 47:27Speaker 3: It's it's extraordinary, really good. They've got a it's quite cold,
- 47:31Speaker 3: like sort of like synthesizer music, but they've got a
- 47:34Speaker 3: really good sing I Paul By Cannon's got a really rich,
- 47:36Speaker 3: warm voice. You can imagine him like singing like like
- 47:39Speaker 3: Frank Sinatra songs. And they're all songs about like love
- 47:42Speaker 3: and loss and fall in love and falling out of
- 47:44Speaker 3: love and if you imagine sort of like walking down
- 47:46Speaker 3: Buyers road at like three in the morning. That's what
- 47:49Speaker 3: The Blue and Isle sound like. So it is really
- 47:51Speaker 3: really good stuff, really good stuff. They're a song pencil
- 47:53Speaker 3: Town in the Rain, which is their big single, but
- 47:55Speaker 3: hats is just hats is just amazing.
- 47:58Speaker 2: It's really really good album.
- 47:59Speaker 3: I remember going to a period of them, like you know,
- 48:02Speaker 3: when you're younger, I just want to listen to want
- 48:04Speaker 3: to listen to music, and you're you're basically going, yeah,
- 48:06Speaker 3: borrowing your parents series and just littime.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Remember, get a loan of hats off.
- 48:09Speaker 3: My uncle he gave me a pilot series and something's
- 48:11Speaker 3: like Paul pin Oasis, which I've heard of, but this band,
- 48:13Speaker 3: The Blue and Isle, never heard them and stick it
- 48:15Speaker 3: all and just been like this is this is absolutely uncle.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Yeah, So that's it, The Hatski Blue and I.
- 48:21Speaker 4: You give a listen and a song, Okay, right, I'll
- 48:24Speaker 4: give you a song.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Right, I'll give you a song. Probably the best song
- 48:28Speaker 3: from twenty to twenty five. A band nourish by time.
- 48:31Speaker 3: This is this guy Marcus brownce of an R and
- 48:33Speaker 3: B singer from Baltimore. His album The Passionate Ones was
- 48:37Speaker 3: brilliant as that was my album of twenty twenty five.
- 48:39Speaker 3: I will give his song Max Potential a go. It's
- 48:43Speaker 3: quite if you quite like Luther Van Ross and you
- 48:46Speaker 3: quite imagine that it's said very similar to that, but
- 48:50Speaker 3: sort of like a kind of DIY indie twist on
- 48:52Speaker 3: t it. So he's very he's brilliant, amazing singer, and
- 48:55Speaker 3: that's how I thought it was the best song off
- 48:57Speaker 3: of his albums there, Max Potential buying I was by time.
- 49:01Speaker 4: You listen to that as well. Excellent recommendations, Absolute pleasure
- 49:04Speaker 4: to have you, brilliant, joy and enjoy.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 49:08Speaker 4: Hopefully we can see the second roun
