- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn Spanish with Fexingo? Luna: Yes! I've been practicing my weather words from last time. Hace sol, hace frío... I love saying those. Lucas: Nice work! Today we're going to talk about food. Specifically, two very important things: bread and water. Luna: Oh, I can do bread. Is it 'pan'? Lucas: Exactly! Pan. Say it with me: pan. Luna: Pan. Lucas: Perfect. And water is 'agua'. Agua. Luna: Agua. Agua. That's nice. Lucas: Now imagine you're at a café. You want to order bread. How would you say 'I want bread'? Luna: Umm... 'Quiero pan'? Lucas: Yes! Quiero pan. Quiero means 'I want'. So: Quiero pan. Luna: Quiero pan. Lucas: Great. And for water, you can say 'Un agua, por favor'. One water, please. Luna: Un agua, por favor. Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice together. I'll be the server. You order. Luna: Okay, um... Hola. Quiero pan. Lucas: Excellent! And then maybe you also want water. Luna: Un agua, por favor. Lucas: Perfect order! Now let's switch. You be the server. Luna: Hola, ¿qué quieres? Lucas: Quiero pan y un agua, por favor. Luna: Ah, so pan and agua. Got it. So 'pan' and 'agua' are both nouns. Are they masculine or feminine? Lucas: Good question! Pan is masculine, so we say 'el pan'. Agua is feminine, but we say 'el agua' because it starts with a stressed 'a' — it's a special case. Luna: El pan, el agua. Got it. Lucas: Let's do a little scene. You're at a restaurant. You want bread and water. Go. Luna: Hola, quiero pan y un agua, por favor. Lucas: Muy bien. Now imagine you're at a friend's house and they offer you something. How do you say yes? Luna: Sí. Lucas: And no? Luna: No. Lucas: Great. So if they say '¿Quieres pan?' you can say 'Sí, quiero pan.' Luna: Sí, quiero pan. Lucas: Or 'No, gracias.' Luna: No, gracias. Lucas: Perfect. Let's do a quick review. What are our two new words? Luna: Pan and agua. Lucas: And how do you order bread? Luna: Quiero pan. Lucas: And water? Luna: Un agua, por favor. Lucas: You got it. Remember, you can use these in any café or restaurant. Practice ordering in your head when you're out. Luna: I will. This is really useful. Fexingo is helping me so much. Lucas: That's the goal. Keep practicing, and next time we'll add more. Until then, adiós! Luna: Adiós! Y gracias.
