- Lucas: Welcome back to another episode of Learn Dutch with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. We are so happy to be here with you again. Lucas: Today we are going to do something special. We are reviewing the face. Luna: Yes. We have talked about many body parts lately. The neck, the shoulder, the back. Lucas: Right. And before that, we did the eyes and ears. Now it is time for the face. Luna: So let us start with the big word. The face. Lucas: The face in Dutch is het gezicht. Listen closely. Lucas: Het gezicht.... Het gezicht. Luna: Okay. Het gezicht. That sounds like a soft sound at the end. Lucas: Exactly. It is neuter, so we use het. Remember that from the eyes? Het oog. Luna: Yes. Het oog. So het gezicht makes sense. Let me try again. Luna: Het gezicht. Het gezicht. Okay. I feel like I got it. Lucas: You did. You nailed it. Now, let us break the face down. Luna: We already know the lips and cheeks from earlier episodes. Right? Lucas: We do. But let us say them out loud to lock them in. The lip. Lucas: De lip.... De lip. Luna: De lip. Short and sweet. Just one syllable almost. Lucas: Correct. It is feminine, so de lip. Simple. Luna: And the cheek? That was de wang. Lucas: Yes. De wang.... De wang. Luna: De wang. Okay. Lip. Wang. Gezicht. I can feel them now. Lucas: Good. Because now we need to talk about when these parts hurt. Luna: Oh no. Not again. My memory hurts just thinking about it. Lucas: No, no. It is very useful. If your lip hurts, you say... Lucas: Mijn lip doet pijn. Listen to this. Lucas: Mijn lip doet pijn.... Mijn lip doet pijn. Luna: Mijn lip doet pijn. Wait. Does doen mean to do? Lucas: Yes. Doen means to do. Pijn means pain. So literally, my lip does pain. Luna: That is a funny way to say it. But I get it. Mijn lip doet pijn. Lucas: Exactly. Now try it with the cheek. Same structure. Luna: Okay. Mijn... wang... doet... pijn. Luna: Mijn wang doet pijn. Is that right? Lucas: Perfect. Mijn wang doet pijn. You are doing great. Luna: It feels good to put it together. Lip, wang, pijn. All connected. Lucas: Let us repeat the whole set slowly. One more time. Lucas: Het gezicht. De lip. De wang. Luna: Het gezicht. De lip. De wang. Lucas: Now the sentences. Mijn lip doet pijn. Luna: Mijn lip doet pijn. Lucas: Mijn wang doet pijn. Luna: Mijn wang doet pijn. Lucas: Excellent. You are really getting the rhythm of this language. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. It helps to hear it over and over. Repetition is key. Lucas: It is. And remember, if you have a dry lip, you can add droge. Luna: Like in the old episode? Ik heb een droge lip. Lucas: Exactly. Ik heb een droge lip. But today we focus on pain. Luna: Okay. So if I go to the pharmacy, I can say these phrases. Lucas: Yes. Or tell a friend. Mijn lip doet pijn. Or Mijn wang doet pijn. Luna: I think I will stick to saying it to my friends first. Less pressure. Lucas: Smart choice. Let us do one final round to seal it in memory. Lucas: Het gezicht. Luna: Het gezicht. Lucas: De lip. Luna: De lip. Lucas: De wang. Luna: De wang. Lucas: Mijn lip doet pijn. Luna: Mijn lip doet pijn. Lucas: Mijn wang doet pijn. Luna: Mijn wang doet pijn. Lucas: Beautiful.
