- 0:01Speaker 1: All right, daily report, coach daily another win on the road.
- 0:04Speaker 1: It all comes at all different shape, sizes and grit work.
- 0:07Speaker 1: It seemed this one was a little bit more grittier
- 0:09Speaker 1: by your players.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I think anytime you play in the
- 0:14Speaker 2: teams the second time around, it's going to be different.
- 0:17Speaker 2: We played really well the first time we played them
- 0:19Speaker 2: and beat them significantly, so you know, obviously their response,
- 0:23Speaker 2: so I had a home game was going to be
- 0:25Speaker 2: what it was. You know, they were very aggressive and
- 0:28Speaker 2: physical and our defense was okay. It was on the
- 0:32Speaker 2: offensive end we weren't able to We were regarding them
- 0:36Speaker 2: in the half court, but we weren't getting a lot
- 0:38Speaker 2: of the steals and scoring opportunities that we normally get.
- 0:41Speaker 2: And then our offense we missed a bunch of shots.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I don't think we screamed fortubly well, but we were
- 0:48Speaker 2: getting shots, but we weren't offensive rebounding.
- 0:51Speaker 1: So that the combination, well, then the second have it seemed,
- 0:56Speaker 1: I don't know, by designer, just the way it happened
- 0:58Speaker 1: that three plays in a row to Sarah Strong and
- 1:01Speaker 1: it was a backscreen, and that she just was able
- 1:03Speaker 1: to play one on one and score, and that seemed
- 1:05Speaker 1: to get everybody stepping up, even on the defensive end,
- 1:08Speaker 1: because of how that will met Um swing.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Well, you know, I thought Sarah missed some shots in
- 1:13Speaker 2: the first step that she doesn't normally miss, so getting
- 1:17Speaker 2: her the ball on the you know, I never think
- 1:20Speaker 2: she's gonna miss that many shots, and I would have
- 1:22Speaker 2: been surprised if she did the same in the second half.
- 1:26Speaker 2: So yeah, it helps to be able to have. You know, today,
- 1:29Speaker 2: I thought we were relied heavily on Easy and Sarah,
- 1:32Speaker 2: and that's not been the case for the majority of
- 1:34Speaker 2: the games that we've been in, so that was a
- 1:37Speaker 2: little bit different. They took the majority of our shots,
- 1:39Speaker 2: which they normally do, but it was just a different
- 1:41Speaker 2: feel today.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and it seemed to me, and maybe you can
- 1:44Speaker 1: speak on it. Easy Fudd pretty much defense was really outstanding.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I know she does that and maybe he doesn't get
- 1:51Speaker 1: credit for it, but her offense was there. Defense but
- 1:53Speaker 1: just an all around game. It seemed to be she
- 1:55Speaker 1: was the steady for everyone.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Well, you know, I thought defensively we did. We weren't
- 2:01Speaker 2: as smart as we've been. We made a lot of
- 2:03Speaker 2: bad decisions in the half court where they were getting
- 2:06Speaker 2: back door layups, and there was some confusion on the
- 2:10Speaker 2: court about how we were regarding their ball screens, and
- 2:12Speaker 2: so that was disappointing. But you know, I think we've
- 2:17Speaker 2: come to have a certain level of expectation for all
- 2:21Speaker 2: of our players, but certainly Asy and you know her
- 2:24Speaker 2: what she gives us on offense, and you know she's
- 2:28Speaker 2: she's just really improved in every area, so on the
- 2:31Speaker 2: defensive end, and so it's not surprising when she does
- 2:35Speaker 2: that for us.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Talked about the connection, i'mould say, seems like a lot
- 2:40Speaker 1: of family and friends in this area, know thinking Connecticut
- 2:43Speaker 1: East coast, but you have some not just you know,
- 2:45Speaker 1: Indiana and the Wisconsin connections, and so fun to have
- 2:49Speaker 1: for the players to have a homecoming.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Well it's nice, you know for KK and Ali because
- 2:53Speaker 2: they're from Wisconsin. I think Asy's family comes to every game,
- 2:59Speaker 2: so that's like not unusual. So and I think we
- 3:02Speaker 2: have an opportunity to have the people in this area
- 3:05Speaker 2: that are fans of our program, not just of the
- 3:08Speaker 2: players from their hometown, give them a chance to you know,
- 3:11Speaker 2: one of them. I think it was college students that
- 3:13Speaker 2: we're asking Gino to be their valentine. So we need
- 3:15Speaker 2: to do an investigation on that, but no, it's just
- 3:19Speaker 2: you know, nice to be to get to play in
- 3:21Speaker 2: different areas of the country.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it's nice on that one. So overall, the biggest
- 3:26Speaker 1: it's thug Ray comes, it's flying fast, and next thing
- 3:29Speaker 1: you know, you're down to a few games left on there.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And is it tough to keep your team focused on
- 3:34Speaker 1: just regular season and not think of that big East
- 3:36Speaker 1: Tournament or NCAA that's looming.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Well, hopefully today's a reminder that you have to play
- 3:41Speaker 2: a certain way in order to have the results that
- 3:44Speaker 2: you really want, and that when you play teams the
- 3:46Speaker 2: second time, especially the better teams in our conference, like Wednesday,
- 3:50Speaker 2: will be very similar to this. You know, we beat
- 3:52Speaker 2: them handedly at Campbell, and you know they're prideful. Know
- 3:56Speaker 2: the competitors are going to compete and they're going to
- 3:59Speaker 2: do some things, probably belief similar to Marquette on both ends,
- 4:02Speaker 2: to try to make it a little more difficult for us.
- 4:04Speaker 2: So we've got some work to do on Monday and Tuesday.
- 4:07Speaker 1: All right, Well, Happy Valentine's Day, Take care back to you, Bob.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Thanks coach,
