Speaker 3: the car is nothing. Driving I sixty four this morning

• 2:08
Speaker 3: what you know, maybe half a nanch off even that
• 2:10
Speaker 3: out there. Uh, but just interesting that old John Amos,
• 2:14
Speaker 3: you know that dividing line that kills all the snow
• 2:16
Speaker 3: for Putnam County. Happened that yet again? All right, So
• 2:19
Speaker 3: it is championship week in the Charleston. Two games on
• 2:21
Speaker 3: the slate today, two tomorrow, Tom Braggs who have joined
• 2:23
Speaker 3: Sir momentarily to talk about that. Of course, the big
• 2:25
Speaker 3: game of local significance, the Nitro game, the Wildcats taking
• 2:29
Speaker 3: on Princeton tomorrow night at Lateleyfield. We're gonna talk later

Speaker 3: in the show with Nitro City Council and Joe Murphy
• 2:33
Speaker 3: who just happened to play on that Nitro team from

• 3:10
Speaker 3: the big one for our area, the Triple A championship
• 3:12
Speaker 3: game Morgantown and Nitro. Tom Bragg here to talk about.
• 3:16
Speaker 3: It's a good morning, sir, and welcome to the show.
• 3:18
Speaker 3: How you doing. I'm good, David. How are you this?
• 3:20
Speaker 3: I am doing? Finding you and I were talking off
• 3:22
Speaker 3: the air that when Nitro won the championship, the only
• 3:26
Speaker 3: other football championship that they won nineteen ninety eight, that
• 3:29
Speaker 3: undefeated team, and we're going to talk to remember that
• 3:31
Speaker 3: team coming up a little bit later on. But you
• 3:32
Speaker 3: were a student there at Nitro at the time. Yeah,
• 3:34
Speaker 3: I was a ninth grader. Was that your first year
• 3:36
Speaker 3: in ninth grader? Your second year in ninth That was
• 3:37
Speaker 3: my first year in ninth grade? Okay, because we did
• 3:40
Speaker 3: a couple of extra years in college, but we we
• 3:42
Speaker 3: did it. We took him in order in high school.
• 3:44
Speaker 3: I got you, I got you.
• 3:45
Speaker 5: Yeah, that was a It was just an incredible season
• 3:48
Speaker 5: of football. It was really uh a gift and a curse.
• 3:51
Speaker 5: I think you draw all the lines back to how
• 3:54
Speaker 5: did I get to where I'm at right now? It
• 3:56
Speaker 5: probably goes back to that ninety eight football season, falling
• 3:58
Speaker 5: in love with high school football, West Virginia high school football.
• 4:01
Speaker 3: What a run it was on.
• 4:02
Speaker 5: It'll be cool to listen after I leave out of
• 4:04
Speaker 5: here when you bring Joe on. There's so many names
• 4:06
Speaker 5: coming back to your faces you haven't seen or heard
• 4:08
Speaker 5: from in years and years. With with the Wildcats being
• 4:11
Speaker 5: back in the state title game, they've played for one
• 4:14
Speaker 5: since then. They lost to Morgantown in overtime in two
• 4:17
Speaker 5: thousand and five, but they beat the Mohegans at nineteen
• 4:20
Speaker 5: ninety eight, that great Jr.
• 4:21
  Speaker 3: House team.
• 4:22
Speaker 5: It's it's been a fun week, especially having the games
• 4:25
Speaker 5: back in Charleston so there's not a lot of travel
• 4:27
Speaker 5: for the Nitro folks. It'll be it should be a
• 4:30
Speaker 5: pretty raucous crowd tomorrow evening over at Laidley Field with
• 4:33
Speaker 5: Nitro getting essentially a home game here in the Canall
• 4:36
Speaker 5: Valley for the state title.
• 4:37
Speaker 3: Yeah, and that was the Jr. House, Yes, right, that's
• 4:39
Speaker 3: what it's goods when somebody sent a text about that,
• 4:41
Speaker 3: talk about that what it was like as a student there.
• 4:45
Speaker 3: We'll talk to Joe about being being the player, but
• 4:47
Speaker 3: just as a as an average student Nitro High School,
• 4:50
Speaker 3: because I know, you know when your team is good,
• 4:55
Speaker 3: even as a student, there's a feeling around the school
• 4:57
Speaker 3: when teams win championship.
• 4:59
Speaker 5: Yeah, and it was I think on another level because Jr.
• 5:02
Speaker 5: Was chasing all of those national records that year. He
• 5:05
Speaker 5: was getting recruited by every I mean you saw. I
• 5:08
Speaker 5: mean this is late nineties, So who were the heavy hitters,
• 5:11
Speaker 5: the Florida States, the Nebraska is, the Florida is just
• 5:14
Speaker 5: everybody who was everybody in college football is trying to
• 5:16
Speaker 5: get this guy to come play for him. It was
• 5:18
Speaker 5: like the Beatles were in town every Friday night. That
• 5:21
Speaker 5: that game against DuPont and DuPont's last year before they
• 5:24
Speaker 5: consolidated and became riverside. But the game at DuPont at Nitro,
• 5:28
Speaker 5: I don't the attendance records probably still the attendance record
• 5:31
Speaker 5: I've never They were cars parked all the way to
• 5:33
Speaker 5: Poka basically still people still walking back to their cars
• 5:36
Speaker 5: now that still still are. But the story I always
• 5:40
Speaker 5: tell about JR. Houses he was this rock star. Everybody
• 5:43
  Speaker 5: knew who JR.
• 5:44
  Speaker 6: Was.
• 5:45
Speaker 5: It was my second or third day of school as
• 5:46
Speaker 5: a ninth grader. I had to do a schedule change.
• 5:48
Speaker 5: So I'm in the office. Jr's in there as an
• 5:50
Speaker 5: office aid as as a senior superstar quarterback probably is
• 5:54
Speaker 5: at a lot of schools, and JR. Is coming through
• 5:57
Speaker 5: and he's like, I'm going to darry Queen. You want
• 5:58
Speaker 5: to go to Dairy Queen with me? I got to
• 6:00
Speaker 5: ride along with dairy with JR. To be the guy
• 6:02
Speaker 5: who carried all the Dairy Queen back toward the office people.
• 6:05
Speaker 5: And he bought me ice cream too, And I was like, Wow,
• 6:06
Speaker 5: what a nice guy. And still like JR. Doesn't know me,
• 6:09
Speaker 5: but I can go to a Reds game and get
• 6:12
Speaker 5: his attention and say, hey, I went to the He'll
• 6:13
Speaker 5: think the second game.
• 6:14
  Speaker 7: He loves think.
• 6:15
Speaker 5: I think he think he's not going to be with
• 6:16
Speaker 5: the Reds next game. But you know, you know, he's
• 6:18
Speaker 5: just awesome, dude. It was, Uh, it was just an
• 6:21
Speaker 5: incredible experience. Like I said, it's when I fell in
• 6:23
Speaker 5: love with high school football and the reason that you
• 6:26
  Speaker 5: poor people still.
• 6:26
Speaker 3: Have to listen to me talk about it to this day.
• 6:28
Speaker 3: Where you missed an opportunity, Tom, is that if you
• 6:31
Speaker 3: went to a Reds game when Jr. Was coaching third base,
• 6:34
Speaker 3: you could have actually gone onto the field and said, hey,
• 6:36
Speaker 3: after the game, I owe you some dairy queens since
• 6:39
Speaker 3: you bought for me. That that would have been. That
• 6:40
Speaker 3: would have been stellar, That would have been Yeah, I
• 6:42
Speaker 3: need to bring you along for those. All right, let's
• 6:44
Speaker 3: talk about these games. Yeah, some good games come up.
• 6:47
Speaker 3: The Quad A title game actually kicks off at at
• 6:50
Speaker 3: noon today Morgantown Martinsborg.
• 6:53
Speaker 5: Talk about that, well, it's an interesting man. Hold on, no,
• 6:56
  Speaker 5: that's right, that's correct out there, that's that's the first
• 6:58
Speaker 5: game for A. And I said what I said earlier
• 7:01
Speaker 5: was Morganhown was playing Nitro to want it.
• 7:03
Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, Metro plays Princeton tomorrow. I got it.
• 7:06
Speaker 5: I got in the last game. The first game is
• 7:08
Speaker 5: today at noon Morgantown Martinsburg in Class four A. And
• 7:11
  Speaker 5: I think it's a really interesting game. It's the first
• 7:13
Speaker 5: time Morgantown's been back in the state championship since they
• 7:16
Speaker 5: wanted in two thousand and five when they beat Nitro.
• 7:18
Speaker 5: And you know, it's a proud program. They've got an
• 7:21
Speaker 5: outstanding quarterback sophomore named Maddox Twig. He's a guy that
• 7:24
Speaker 5: a lot of people have tabbed as potentially the Kennedy
• 7:27
Speaker 5: Award winner that'll come out here in the next couple
• 7:29
Speaker 5: of weeks. But the matchup there against Martinsburg, it's a
• 7:33
Speaker 5: tough one. You know, Martinsburg. Maybe at the beginning of
• 7:35
Speaker 5: the season, people looked at some of the results and thought, Okay,
• 7:38
Speaker 5: Martinsburg's still good, but they're not the Martinsburg that we've
• 7:41
Speaker 5: known over the last decade two decades almost going on now.
• 7:45
Speaker 5: But here we are. It's state championship weekend. Martinsburg's in
• 7:48
Speaker 5: the mix and it's hard to pick against the Bulldogs
• 7:50
Speaker 5: when you get to this this time of year. Dave
• 7:51
Speaker 5: Walker and that coaching staff and those players have been
• 7:55
Speaker 5: around the block a time or two. They are regular
• 7:57
Speaker 5: fixtures at this point in the season. So I think
• 7:59
  Speaker 5: it's a it's it's a tough hill to climb for Morgantown.
• 8:02
Speaker 5: I think they have the top seed, but I think
• 8:05
Speaker 5: as far as top seeds go, they are certainly vulnerable
• 8:08
Speaker 5: for the quote unquote upset against Martinsburg.
• 8:11
Speaker 3: Today, all right, and then at noon we've got the matchup.
• 8:16
  Speaker 3: That's the noon gameclock seven o'clock. I don't know where
• 8:19
Speaker 3: my head is today. It's it's still watching the Cowboys
• 8:21
Speaker 3: by Detroit. That's what the problem. So the seven o'clock
• 8:24
Speaker 3: game should be a good one tonight between Wheeling Central
• 8:27
  Speaker 3: and Clay Beateel.
• 8:28
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's another interesting game. Wheeling Central probably prohibitive favorites
• 8:31
Speaker 5: coming in the maroon nights. The number one seed have
• 8:33
Speaker 5: been very good all season long. Claybtel, that's a fun
• 8:36
Speaker 5: story though. You know, it's kind of the overlooked program,
• 8:40
Speaker 5: the overlooked school up in that part of the state,
• 8:43
Speaker 5: in Mond County. They had a just an awesome atmosphere
• 8:46
Speaker 5: last week, a big rivalry game against Cameron in the
• 8:49
Speaker 5: semi final game. CBS get the win in that And
• 8:52
Speaker 5: is there a cooler nickname in the state than CD.
• 8:54
Speaker 5: They've got to be on the list. I mean, the
• 8:56
Speaker 5: Polka Dots, the Man Hill certainly have something to say
• 8:59
Speaker 5: about it. But the CEB's what a great name. That's
• 9:03
Speaker 5: it's gonna be a tough game for them. It would
• 9:05
Speaker 5: be a big upset. I think if Clavetel was able
• 9:07
Speaker 5: to win this evening. But that's why they play the games.
• 9:09
  Speaker 5: They've got a little momentum. I'm certain they'll have. They
• 9:13
Speaker 5: might have been able to partner up with Morgantown. Hiw,
• 9:15
Speaker 5: I get a deal on some buses. Just bring everybody
• 9:17
Speaker 5: down here. The folks over on the university half of
• 9:19
Speaker 5: town might not be there, but a whole lot of
• 9:21
Speaker 5: folks coming down from that part of the state.
• 9:22
Speaker 3: Well, unless remember the mounth in your basketball teams playing
• 9:25
Speaker 3: the night a clock over to college. There's that too,
• 9:28
Speaker 3: so you probably could have teamed up there, all right,
• 9:29
Speaker 3: And then we will move ahead to we up to
• 9:32
  Speaker 3: Bluefield and Frankfort.
• 9:34
  Speaker 5: That's again, I can't Oh, that's gonna be a good game.
• 9:36
Speaker 5: There's state championship games. They all probably should be good games.
• 9:39
Speaker 5: That's a really interesting matchup. You know, Matt and I
• 9:42
Speaker 5: went up made the long trip and saw Frankfort play
• 9:44
Speaker 5: against Herbert Hoover this season a game Frankfurt beat Herbert
• 9:47
Speaker 5: Hoover in and kind of surprised us. You know, Frankfort
• 9:50
Speaker 5: is the defending state champion in double A. But they
• 9:51
Speaker 5: graduated a lot of kids. A lot of people thought
• 9:53
Speaker 5: they they would still be good, but they might take
• 9:55
Speaker 5: a step back, but they're riding, I think going on
• 9:58
Speaker 5: a thirty game win streak right now. They are defeated
• 10:00
Speaker 5: last year, undefeated this year. Hard to pick against them.
• 10:03
Speaker 5: They run a single wing kind of an option attack
• 10:05
Speaker 5: that's hard to defend. Talking with Fred Persinger this week, though,
• 10:08
Speaker 5: he said the key to that one will be if
• 10:10
Speaker 5: Frankfurt can keep up with blue Field speed. Bluefield is
• 10:14
Speaker 5: one of the fastest teams in the state. If they
• 10:15
Speaker 5: can get guys to the edges, it might be a
• 10:18
Speaker 5: long day for some of those Frankfort defenders. So I
• 10:20
Speaker 5: think that's going to be a really good game. I
• 10:21
Speaker 5: would probably tab Frankfort as the favorite there, but I
• 10:23
Speaker 5: think that's going to be a close one.
• 10:24
Speaker 3: All right, let's wrap it up because we're running. We
• 10:26
Speaker 3: got to give away a dog here, you know, so
• 10:28
Speaker 3: we've got to get to the adoptee. Please better the week.
• 10:30
Speaker 3: Let's talk about that game between Nitro tomorrow Night of Brent.
• 10:34
Speaker 5: Another matchup of two teams that Matt and I saw
• 10:36
Speaker 5: play against Herbert Hoover this year. They're both really, really good.
• 10:39
Speaker 5: They do a lot of similar things and two of
• 10:42
Speaker 5: the most I mean, throw receiver out of it just
• 10:44
Speaker 5: two of the most exciting best players in the state
• 10:47
Speaker 5: flat out between Princeton's Brad Mosser and Nitro's Malachai Thompson,
• 10:51
Speaker 5: the receiver that signed with WU this week. That one's
• 10:54
Speaker 5: going to be fireworks. I wouldn't be surprised if that
• 10:56
Speaker 5: was like a fifty to forty type game.
• 10:58
Speaker 3: It's going to be a shootout. Should be a fun one.
• 10:59
Speaker 3: All right, Tom, appreciate you being here, my absolutely, Dave,
• 11:02
Speaker 3: thanks for having men. What are we gonna do with
• 11:03
Speaker 3: you next week? I mean, I don't know.
• 11:05
Speaker 5: We can talk about the World Cup draw that's coming
• 11:07
Speaker 5: out today. Maybe a little sock can yea, we absolutely can.
• 11:11
Speaker 5: I know we can talk about these games that just happened.
• 11:13
Speaker 5: I know that's your thing, but not mine. But I
• 11:16
Speaker 5: knew it was a button. You've got some buttons.
• 11:18
Speaker 3: You can educate me.
• 11:20
  Speaker 6: Here you go.
• 11:20
Speaker 3: We'll spend the off season teaching Dave soccer. Yeah, there
• 11:22
Speaker 3: you go. All right, Tom Bragg, appreciate you being here,

Speaker 3: not missing again. This is not the Great Blizzard of

Speaker 3: nineteen ninety three here, Okay, We're just talking about a

Speaker 3: little little snow in the grass and on the cardtops

Speaker 8: I did, other than being sick. Whatever dreams have gone around,

Speaker 8: great with kids. He has lived with cats before and
• 12:53
Speaker 8: done well with them in the home, and he loves
• 12:55
Speaker 8: to play with other dogs. If you look at his
• 12:58
Speaker 8: picture on the Facebook page, you can't quite tell that
• 13:01
Speaker 8: he is missing one of his back legs. I don't
• 13:04
Speaker 8: have any information on as to why that is. I'm
• 13:07
Speaker 8: pretty sure he just came to our shoulder like that.
• 13:10
Speaker 8: But he is an excellent, excellent dog, very smart, two
• 13:14
Speaker 8: years old, neutered, update on vaccines and if you don't
• 13:18
Speaker 8: get up to the shelter during our adoption special going
• 13:21
Speaker 8: until the fifteenth, his fee is sponsored until he gets adopted.
• 13:25
Speaker 8: So literally a dog that you cannot miss out on.
• 13:28
Speaker 3: Arlow is a great looking dog. And again his pictures
• 13:31

• 13:36

• 13:39
Speaker 3: but I want to find out are you going to

Speaker 3: from our big success story from I mean they've we've
• 14:16
Speaker 3: had so many success stories, but this is the one.
• 14:19

Speaker 3: international uh cyber superstar.
• 14:25
  Speaker 9: Uh.
• 14:25
  Speaker 3: And that's Crewton.
• 14:27
  Speaker 2: Uh.
• 14:27
Speaker 3: Crewton came to the studio, his handlers, his family brought
• 14:31
Speaker 3: him in to see me earlier this week and they
• 14:33
Speaker 3: brought me a nice little Christmas gift as well. But Crewton,
• 14:35
Speaker 3: I do on two three years ago, we get Kreuton
• 14:37
Speaker 3: adopted what a great dog and anytime they're around. If
• 14:40
  Speaker 3: I'm out about, they'll make a making a point to
• 14:42
Speaker 3: try to bring Creuton to see me. So, yep, I
• 14:44
Speaker 3: got to see Krewton earlier this week.
• 14:47
Speaker 8: I'm so glad to hear that. I actually got to
• 14:49
Speaker 8: see Hannah yesterday in person and we were talking about
• 14:53
Speaker 8: the show and that you've got to see Cruton and
• 14:55
Speaker 8: she has given me all the background info on that.
• 14:57
Speaker 7: Oh yeah, so glad.
• 14:58
Speaker 3: But you guys had a little Chronicles of Cruton if
• 15:01

• 15:33
Speaker 3: that's just the way he arrived at the shelter around
• 15:36
Speaker 3: forty pounds. He's neutered, he's vaccinated, great with other playful dogs,
• 15:41
Speaker 3: great with kids, and has lived with cats. I mean,
• 15:44
Speaker 3: what more could you want other than the fact that
• 15:45
Speaker 3: he's free because his adoption is sponsored. So look a
• 15:49

Speaker 3: as our producer. That we had a text for Angie
• 17:58
Speaker 3: and unfortunately she would already disconnected with her when I
• 18:01
Speaker 3: got the text. I will try to get an answer,
• 18:03
Speaker 3: but a textor wanted to know about Buddy. So dog,
• 18:06
  Speaker 3: it's it's it's really a gruesome story. And I was
• 18:08
Speaker 3: looking I always look around at the Knaw Charleston Newman
• 18:11
Speaker 3: Association's Facebook page before I do the show, and Buddy
• 18:16
Speaker 3: was a dog that was hit by a car and
• 18:18
Speaker 3: his eyes basically popped out. Uh, and they've got a picture,
• 18:23
Speaker 3: you know. It's it's one of those. I know we
• 18:25
Speaker 3: want to get the dog adopted, but I really wish
• 18:27
  Speaker 3: I hadn't seen the picture. But I don't know for
• 18:30
Speaker 3: your to answer the Textra's question, I don't know how
• 18:32
Speaker 3: Buddy's doing. I will reach out to Angie at some point.
• 18:36
Speaker 3: When I turned the show over to Susie Salisbury. Here
• 18:38
Speaker 3: in a couple of moments, I'll reach out to Angie
• 18:40
Speaker 3: and I'll try to find out an update on Buddy's condition.
• 18:42
Speaker 3: The aforementioned Susie Salisbury, Charleston Mary Allan says here, Hey,
• 18:45
Speaker 3: doing good morning, just fine, thank you on this cold,
• 18:48
Speaker 3: kind of snowy December morning. It's it's wonderful. It's just
• 18:53
Speaker 3: the season. That's what it's supposed to do. Even it's
• 18:56
Speaker 3: a it's a very small amount and to get you
• 18:58
Speaker 3: in the Christmas spirit. The reason you're here today, we'll
• 19:00
Speaker 3: talk about this window decorating contest. You get go on.
• 19:03
Speaker 11: This is our annual we've probably done it now for
• 19:06
Speaker 11: I don't know eight or nine years, and this is
• 19:08
Speaker 11: our Holloway Holiday Window Display Contest. So this is a
• 19:13
Speaker 11: way that we have found, you know, with Charleston has
• 19:17
Speaker 11: become a Christmas town well, no doubt. And you know
• 19:21
Speaker 11: we're always looking for ways how can we tie the
• 19:23
Speaker 11: businesses directly into a lot of the celebrations. So this
• 19:27
Speaker 11: was a way for the businesses who are already decorating
• 19:31
Speaker 11: for the holidays anyway, and to have a little friendly competition.
• 19:36
Speaker 11: So we started the Holiday window contest. It's free and
• 19:41
Speaker 11: that's in thanks in part to Applachimpower, who's our supporter
• 19:46
Speaker 11: for the event, and you register and then we have
• 19:50
Speaker 11: a best in show, So we have judges that are
• 19:52
Speaker 11: going out over the next week and judging a best
• 19:54
  Speaker 11: in show.
• 19:55
Speaker 3: But we also have the people's.
• 19:56
Speaker 11: Choice, and that's really what I want to talk about
• 19:58
Speaker 11: this morning. And this is where where you the listeners,
• 20:02
Speaker 11: can pick what your favorite window is in each one
• 20:05
Speaker 11: of the neighborhoods. So we have East End, west Side,
• 20:08
Speaker 11: Downtown Canas sitting and we have different windows in each
• 20:15
Speaker 11: one of those towns. We have about thirty one or
• 20:17
Speaker 11: thirty two of them this year. And you can go
• 20:18
Speaker 11: around and look at the windows and you will see
• 20:21
Speaker 11: a poster in the window. And now I noticed yours
• 20:23
Speaker 11: was on the front door this morning.
• 20:25
Speaker 3: We talked about hours a little bit later on because
• 20:27
  Speaker 3: go ahead.
• 20:28
Speaker 11: There's a QR code on there, so you just hold
• 20:30
Speaker 11: your phone up to it, get the QR code and
• 20:32
Speaker 11: you can vote either for that window or whatever window.
• 20:35
  Speaker 3: That you select.
• 20:36
Speaker 11: But we really encourage, we want the community to come
• 20:39
Speaker 11: out and really support this vote for your favorite window
• 20:44
Speaker 11: in each one of those neighborhoods. You can vote for
• 20:47
Speaker 11: all all in the neighborhoods and let us let us
• 20:51
Speaker 11: honor those businesses with their People's Choice Award. When we
• 20:54
Speaker 11: were putting the posters out, it was really fun walking
• 20:56
Speaker 11: around to a lot of businesses. And I mean these
• 21:00
Speaker 11: pysicists take it pretty serious.
• 21:01
  Speaker 3: Oh yeah, the.
• 21:02
Speaker 11: Ones that have won in the past, you will see
• 21:04
Speaker 11: their plaque like right over the register and it's it's
• 21:08
Speaker 11: a very visible place and they're they're quite proud. They
• 21:11
Speaker 11: put a lot of time and energy and I'm sure
• 21:14
Speaker 11: financial resources into making their windows the best that they
• 21:18
  Speaker 11: can be.

• 21:58
  Speaker 3: I don't I don't know that we have done this
• 22:00
Speaker 3: in the past. And I saw some people out there working,
• 22:04
Speaker 3: I thought, well, what are they what are they doing we?
• 22:07
Speaker 3: I mean, it looks really good what we did. And
• 22:10
Speaker 3: I'm not trying to sway voters in any way. I'm
• 22:13
Speaker 3: just saying it looks really good and it's a whole scene.
• 22:16
Speaker 3: And there are certain members of the staff that made
• 22:19
Speaker 3: the cut to be on the window. I did not.
• 22:22
Speaker 3: Woody Woods is on the window. I said that we
• 22:26
Speaker 3: missed an opportunity by not putting Chris Lawrence up in
• 22:29
Speaker 3: a tree aiming at the reindeer, because mister outdoors, we
• 22:33
Speaker 3: really missed an opportunity there. But now it's it's awesome.
• 22:36
  Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's really it's really good.
• 22:39
Speaker 11: It is and it's a team building exercise. We've seen
• 22:42
Speaker 11: a lot of the businesses that this gives their employees
• 22:46
Speaker 11: something to really rally, rally around and come up with,
• 22:49
Speaker 11: you know, how they they what makes them proud of
• 22:53
Speaker 11: working in that particular establishment.
• 22:55
Speaker 3: And I think it's really interesting what you said, and
• 22:57
Speaker 3: I have said this, and the mayor said this, and
• 22:59
Speaker 3: Tim Brady and others have said this about how Charleston
• 23:02
Speaker 3: is really kind of becoming a Christmas city, you know,
• 23:05
Speaker 3: with this Lango law, like the night which is going
• 23:08
Speaker 3: to be continuing through the first of the year, with
• 23:11
Speaker 3: everything going on city Center. It's like Plaza, the Holly
• 23:14
Speaker 3: Jolly Brawley and so on. The Christmas Parade is one
• 23:17
Speaker 3: week from yesterday, It'll be next Thursday night. So yeah,
• 23:20
Speaker 3: it's I mean the market, Capital market, what they do,
• 23:22
Speaker 3: series events and uh and so just it's it's it's
• 23:26
Speaker 3: a Christmas town, man, it really is.
• 23:27
Speaker 11: It's really fun and we are really honored at the
• 23:30
Speaker 11: Trusty Area Alliance to you know, be able to really
• 23:34
Speaker 11: try to pull the businesses in through you know, pretty
• 23:38
Speaker 11: simple is a pretty simple promotion, but a lot of fun.
• 23:43
  Speaker 3: And it's it's just.
• 23:46
Speaker 11: It's exciting to see the quality of these displays. I
• 23:51
Speaker 11: mean many of them are just remarkable.
• 23:54
Speaker 3: Well, and I know this is not necessarily your thing,
• 23:56
Speaker 3: but going back, I want to mention about Holly Jolly
• 23:58
Speaker 3: Bradley when This thing started with the trees a couple
• 24:00
Speaker 3: of years ago. I think they had like eleven and
• 24:02
Speaker 3: I think it's one hundred and sixty eight trees that
• 24:05
Speaker 3: they've got this year. Over two million lights, well over
• 24:07
Speaker 3: two million lights over at Gomart Ballpark for light to night.
• 24:10
Speaker 3: So I mean, this town's coming to live for Christmas.
• 24:13
  Speaker 3: It really is.
• 24:14
Speaker 11: And just personally it's provided like we have a lot
• 24:19
Speaker 11: of folks that have come in or from here that
• 24:21
Speaker 11: don't live here anymore. They come back and they're like, hey,
• 24:25
Speaker 11: will you take us downtown? Will you take us to
• 24:27
Speaker 11: the lights? We want to go. We want to visit
• 24:30
Speaker 11: Capital Market. We always loved Capital Market at Christmas time
• 24:33
Speaker 11: with the trees and the decorations.
• 24:35
Speaker 3: Was there My wife and I were there last week.
• 24:37
Speaker 11: Yeah, And I'm like, well, yeah, but you've got to
• 24:39
Speaker 11: go around and do the window display competition too, see.
• 24:43
Speaker 3: And how many different businesses did you have? Thirty one
• 24:45
Speaker 3: thirty one different businesses? Okay, and you said they're just
• 24:49
Speaker 3: like everything else, so many people are competitive, and so
• 24:53
Speaker 3: they are very competitive. Yes, we had a textures that
• 24:56
Speaker 3: I remember when store windows used to look like Higbees
• 24:58
Speaker 3: at the beginning of a Christmas and I'm only fifty two,
• 25:01
Speaker 3: so it's the Texter. There you go, there you go.
• 25:03
Speaker 3: So that's what we're we're trying to keep that alive.
• 25:05
Speaker 3: What are the dates for it again? How long is
• 25:07
  Speaker 3: People's Choice?
• 25:08
Speaker 11: Voting is opened now and the closest December the seventeenth,
• 25:12
Speaker 11: and then on the Charleston Area Alliance Facebook page, we
• 25:14
Speaker 11: will announce the winners on Friday, December nineteenth.
• 25:18
Speaker 3: And did you mention what the winners get? They get
• 25:21
Speaker 3: a plaque? A plaque okay, okay, yes, and bragging rights
• 25:24
Speaker 3: and bragging rights, which is what it's all about. What
• 25:26
Speaker 3: else is are you working on at the Charleston Alliance
• 25:28
Speaker 3: these days? What else is that you're at?
• 25:30
Speaker 11: You know, lots of great things. We actually yesterday just
• 25:33
Speaker 11: hosted a day long Leadership Canal Valley Session. We were
• 25:36
Speaker 11: up at Carver and Malden and the Upper Canal Valley area,
• 25:41
Speaker 11: so that was really good. We're continuing that through May,
• 25:45
Speaker 11: and there's just a wide variety of community and economic
• 25:49
Speaker 11: development programs going. And you know, we're still doing the
• 25:53
Speaker 11: business after hours and getting ready for issues and Eggs
• 25:57
Speaker 11: in January. I'm sure you'll probably have ma back on
• 26:00
Speaker 11: about that. Yeah, we get a little bit closer, so
• 26:02
  Speaker 11: we're staying busy.
• 26:03
  Speaker 3: Well, that's that's what it's all. We had a texture,
• 26:06
Speaker 3: it says, a Christmas staple tradition. I really wanted to
• 26:08
Speaker 3: see brought back Santa and his sleigh going around the
• 26:11
Speaker 3: roof of the old Charleston National Bank building. I so
• 26:13
Speaker 3: want my grandchildren to witness that officially made it the
• 26:16
Speaker 3: holiday season in Charleston. Talk about that for those people
• 26:18
Speaker 3: that may not know about what you know about it,
• 26:19
Speaker 3: because obviously as soon as I read the text you
• 26:21
  Speaker 3: you lit up.
• 26:22
Speaker 11: Yes, I remember that as a child so vividly, because
• 26:27
Speaker 11: that's when you knew the holidays were here.
• 26:30
Speaker 3: When you saw Santa and the slat, that's when Christmas
• 26:33
Speaker 3: didn't start in September like exactly that.
• 26:36
Speaker 11: And the it was a tree or star I think
• 26:40
Speaker 11: on the newspaper building, and then the BB and T
• 26:43
  Speaker 11: building had.
• 26:44
  Speaker 3: The big tree.
• 26:44
Speaker 11: Those to me were the three markers that the holidays
• 26:48
  Speaker 11: were here.
• 26:48
Speaker 3: I appreciate you informing the people about that. Now it
• 26:52
Speaker 3: is a we've been talking about it all week. What
• 26:54
Speaker 3: a busy weekend it is. You're in Charleston. Of course
• 26:56
Speaker 3: it's you got the championships going on first game at
• 26:58
Speaker 3: noon today. A lot of local emphasis on that seven
• 27:01
Speaker 3: o'clock game tomorrow night because it's Nitro, you know, Nitro
• 27:04
Speaker 3: and Princeton playing for the Triple A Championship tomorrow night.
• 27:07
Speaker 3: Uh So, our and I had on Metro News midday,
• 27:10
Speaker 3: we had the Mayor Good one on yesterday, and we
• 27:12
Speaker 3: had Tim Brady on and our our hope is is
• 27:14
Speaker 3: that when these people come in from and we got
• 27:17
Speaker 3: a good cross section of the state that's coming in,
• 27:19
Speaker 3: you know, for these games, coming from all areas, is
• 27:21
Speaker 3: that they won't just go to the game and go home.
• 27:23
Speaker 3: And we and and and we know they won't because
• 27:26
Speaker 3: that's just not what people do. You know. We're hoping
• 27:28
Speaker 3: that they'll go to Capital Market, that they'll go downtown,
• 27:32
Speaker 3: and more importantly, that they'll shop and go to these
• 27:34
Speaker 3: local restaurants while they're.
• 27:35
Speaker 11: Here, exactly exactly, And we want them to vote in
• 27:39
Speaker 11: the people's choice as well.
• 27:40
Speaker 3: You know here that's actually not a bad idea because
• 27:43
Speaker 3: they may not know the particular businesses, and they may
• 27:46
Speaker 3: they may not be biased, so you know, they're they're
• 27:49
Speaker 3: just voting you know, on what they like, not necessarily
• 27:52
Speaker 3: on Well that's my uncle, you know our Princeville, So
• 27:55
Speaker 3: I hope they do.
• 27:56
Speaker 11: And then don't forget the WVU.
• 27:57
Speaker 3: Basketball next thing. Yeah, six o'clock tomorrow night, the Mountaineers
• 28:01
Speaker 3: and the Demi Deacons. Yeah. And the weather actually, I
• 28:05
Speaker 3: mean it is December. It is going to be cold,
• 28:07
Speaker 3: it's going to be cloudy, but it could be a
• 28:08
Speaker 3: lot worse, you know. And we got all these Christmas
• 28:11
Speaker 3: parades that are going on and we'll talk about that
• 28:13
Speaker 3: a little bit later on. So a lot of the
• 28:16
Speaker 3: things going on, all right. Another text for you're popular.
• 28:19
Speaker 3: Is there a map of the windows anywhere?
• 28:22
Speaker 11: There is not a map, but on the Charleston Area
• 28:24
Speaker 11: Alliance Facebook page you will find the listing of all
• 28:27
Speaker 11: of them with the addresses.
• 28:28

Speaker 6: Hey, good morning, Glad to be on air with you.
• 32:40
Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. So how does it feel
• 32:43
Speaker 3: that you're alma mater a team that you played for
• 32:46
Speaker 3: for a championship and won a championship with. How does
• 32:49
Speaker 3: it feel just to have Nitro back in it again.
• 32:52
Speaker 6: Yeah, it's great. It feels like it's been too long, right,
• 32:54
Speaker 6: and to see the community now coming back in being
• 32:58
Speaker 6: involved in being it's it's just great to hear the
• 33:01
Speaker 6: buzz around town and it's exciting for sure.
• 33:04
Speaker 3: Indeed. All Right, So I want to talk about that season,
• 33:08
Speaker 3: and we'll get to the playoffs in the championship, Lader,
• 33:10
Speaker 3: but I want to talk about that season. What do
• 33:12
Speaker 3: you remember about maybe the August practices going into it,
• 33:16
Speaker 3: in the first couple of games, just give us some
• 33:18
Speaker 3: memories of the season.
• 33:20
Speaker 6: Yeah, so we came off a tough loss in SMIs
• 33:23
Speaker 6: to do contact following year, and so going into August
• 33:26
Speaker 6: and over the summer workouts, we definitely were on a mission.
• 33:30
Speaker 6: We knew what we had, We knew we could only
• 33:33
Speaker 6: beat ourselves. So going into the season, we were definitely
• 33:37
Speaker 6: ready and prepared to just to take on everybody.
• 33:40
Speaker 3: Talk about some of those those early games, So you
• 33:43
Speaker 3: had just one or two that maybe sticks out.
• 33:46
Speaker 6: Yeah, So the Hurricane game was a tough contest, and
• 33:48
Speaker 6: you know, they're always a tough contest, but we only
• 33:52
Speaker 6: came away with I think at two point win in
• 33:54
Speaker 6: that game, and it was one of those lower scoring
• 33:56
Speaker 6: games for us that they always seem to have our
• 34:00
Speaker 6: number somewhat to be competitive with us.
• 34:03
Speaker 3: And we're talking to Joe Murphy, who was on that
• 34:06
Speaker 3: championship team, talk about some of the teammates. I mean,
• 34:09
Speaker 3: everybody thinks about that team. And obviously you know the
• 34:12
Speaker 3: first name that pops out of jay our house, but
• 34:13
Speaker 3: he wasn't the only player on the team. You were
• 34:15
Speaker 3: there and several others. Talk about some of the other
• 34:17
Speaker 3: standout players on that team.
• 34:19
Speaker 6: Yeah, So we had a lot of our senior class
• 34:21
Speaker 6: with Chris Martin, Zach Collins, Eddie Casto, Matt Brewer, Jesse Wesnooski.
• 34:27
Speaker 6: You know, we all came up through the youth football system,
• 34:30
Speaker 6: middle school system, and of course Jr. Joined us our
• 34:33
Speaker 6: freshman year and came in just like another brother with us,
• 34:36
Speaker 6: and we all grew up together. We all hung out
• 34:39
Speaker 6: together all through high school and growing up together. So
• 34:43
Speaker 6: a lot of great a lot of great talent with
• 34:45
  Speaker 6: that senior class.
• 34:46
Speaker 3: And I mentioned this earlier that when we had Tom
• 34:51
Speaker 3: Bragg on top of the show. Of course he's a
• 34:52
Speaker 3: Nitro guy. He went to high school there as well,
• 34:54
Speaker 3: and he was talking about and I know this from
• 34:57
Speaker 3: my alma mater, when even those of don't play sports
• 35:01
Speaker 3: when you have a good thing going and you can
• 35:04
Speaker 3: rally the entire not only the entire school, but but
• 35:07
Speaker 3: rally the entire community around something like that. Man, it's
• 35:10
Speaker 3: a good feeling, is it not.
• 35:12
Speaker 6: Oh, it's a great feeling. And you know, us being
• 35:14
Speaker 6: seventeen eighteen year old kids going around town and everybody's
• 35:17
Speaker 6: coming up, shaking your hand, they know who you are,
• 35:19
Speaker 6: They're patting you on the back, kids are asking for autographs.
• 35:22
Speaker 6: You know, you're eating it all up, eating it all up.
• 35:24
Speaker 6: But you know, so one thing that we could shift
• 35:27
Speaker 6: and transition to is when we stepped on that football field,
• 35:30
Speaker 6: you know, it was all business and we we knew
• 35:32
Speaker 6: we were on a mission. And so but yeah, it's
• 35:35
Speaker 6: always good eating up that stuff as a young kid
• 35:37
  Speaker 6: like that.
• 35:38
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, especially in a smaller area. And I mean,
• 35:40
Speaker 3: you know, we outside of the Charleston area. Everybody looks
• 35:43
Speaker 3: at Charleston as being a you know, the big city.
• 35:46
Speaker 3: But I mean it's still it's still especially Nitro. I mean,
• 35:50
Speaker 3: Nitro is one of my favorite communities because it's like
• 35:53
Speaker 3: everybody seems to no matter what's going on in Nitro,
• 35:55
Speaker 3: everybody seems to be all in on it, whether it's
• 35:58
Speaker 3: sports or anything else, one hundred percent.
• 36:01
Speaker 6: We have a lot of great things going on in
• 36:03
Speaker 6: our city at all times, and everybody seems to be
• 36:07
Speaker 6: involved in it want to be involved. We have a
• 36:09
Speaker 6: great volunteer or group in Nitro of a massive amount
• 36:13
Speaker 6: of volunteers that help with everything from sports to to others.
• 36:17
Speaker 3: You know, welcome to Joe Murphy again, who was on
• 36:19
Speaker 3: that championship team back in nineteen ninety eight for Nitros,
• 36:22
Speaker 3: now in Nitro City councilman, business leader, doing a lot
• 36:25
Speaker 3: of great things in the community. All right, let's fast
• 36:27
Speaker 3: forward to the playoffs. Now Nitro's in the playoffs nineteen
• 36:30
Speaker 3: ninety eight year memories of the playoffs and then onto
• 36:32
  Speaker 3: the championship.
• 36:34
Speaker 6: Yeah, so, you know, Huntington the second round was a
• 36:38
Speaker 6: pretty tough test. It was a day game, and it
• 36:41
Speaker 6: came down to, you know, towards the end, toward the
• 36:43
Speaker 6: last drive for us to be able to pull that
• 36:45
Speaker 6: one away. And then of course the biggest game to
• 36:49
Speaker 6: me was definitely the Parkersburg game. Going up to Parkersburg,
• 36:53
Speaker 6: as you know, we were number three seed, they were
• 36:54
Speaker 6: the number two, so we had to travel to them
• 36:56
Speaker 6: for the semi finals, and I tell you what, that's
• 36:59
Speaker 6: a crowd. I've never seen another crowd like it. People
• 37:02
Speaker 6: were jumping the walls trying to get in. Fire Marshall
• 37:05
Speaker 6: was shutting down the entry. I mean, it was it
• 37:08
Speaker 6: was a lot of insane and intense environment. For sure.
• 37:11
Speaker 6: You know, we're coming in as a visitor, so it
• 37:12
Speaker 6: was it was intense for us as well. But it
• 37:15
Speaker 6: was it was awesome. You know, you're soaking it all in.
• 37:17
Speaker 3: Talk about the championship game when you played Morgantown.
• 37:20
Speaker 6: Yeah, so the championship game, it was you know, the
• 37:23
Speaker 6: night before we went and watched DuPont get beat and
• 37:26
Speaker 6: that's somebody, you know, from our local area. So of
• 37:28
Speaker 6: course we were rooting for them, and that was a
• 37:31
Speaker 6: tough thing to go back to our hotels with. So
• 37:34
Speaker 6: the next morning we're all getting together, We're talking and
• 37:37
Speaker 6: getting the game playing together. You know, coach Robert Burdett's
• 37:39
Speaker 6: one of the best hype coaches out there in the game,
• 37:42
Speaker 6: and he could always get us going. It's always tough playing,
• 37:46
Speaker 6: you know, at noon instead of seven o'clock a night game,
• 37:49
Speaker 6: so adjusting to that. But yeah, going into the game,
• 37:52
Speaker 6: we were on a mission to just we were gonna
• 37:54
Speaker 6: hammer them, hammer, hammer, hammered. So very first play, what happens,
• 37:58
Speaker 6: We throw an interception, they run it down to the
• 38:01
Speaker 6: two guards line, and then if you remember Chris y Era,
• 38:04
Speaker 6: he ran in the score and so they went up
• 38:05
Speaker 6: six nothing and we were like, oh no, So but
• 38:09
Speaker 6: then we settled down. I think we went in the
• 38:11
Speaker 6: halftime at forty two to six, so we settled down
• 38:14
Speaker 6: pretty quick and started putting points on the board. But yeah,
• 38:19
Speaker 6: it just ended up being a magical day. It was
• 38:21
Speaker 6: just it was. It was amazing just watching watching Jr. Throw,
• 38:26
Speaker 6: watching our receivers, you know, cats. It was just fun
• 38:28
Speaker 6: to even just just have witness it as a fan,
• 38:30
Speaker 6: even I know I was out there playing, but just
• 38:33
Speaker 6: as a fan to watch it was something amazing. It's
• 38:35
Speaker 6: something high school sports didn't have a run of shoot
• 38:38
Speaker 6: offense like we did, especially in West Virginia in that time,
• 38:40
Speaker 6: So to just be a part of that was awesome.
• 38:44
Speaker 3: What was the weather like in that game? Do you remember?
• 38:47
  Speaker 7: Yeah?
• 38:48
Speaker 6: It was chili. You know, of course, you know the
• 38:50
Speaker 6: eighteen year old we're all out there in short sleeved shirts.
• 38:52
Speaker 6: But it was definitely a it was a chili day.
• 38:54
Speaker 6: It's probably gonna be about the same, I think weatherwise,
• 38:57
Speaker 6: you know, men thirties.
• 38:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, so aut this team this year, what's your what's
• 39:01
Speaker 3: your take on on this year's team that's playing for
• 39:03
Speaker 3: the championship tomorrow night at seventh.
• 39:06
Speaker 6: You know, they've they've really progressed over the last few
• 39:09
Speaker 6: weeks too, and their game against Chapmanville is the best
• 39:13
Speaker 6: I've seen them this year. And I think as long
• 39:16
Speaker 6: as they maintain a good balance with you know, the
• 39:19
Speaker 6: pass and run, you get Radcliffe Porter getting some yards,
• 39:21
Speaker 6: chunking up some yards on the ground and try to
• 39:24
Speaker 6: get it to Thompson out in there. I mean, Stuffy's
• 39:27
Speaker 6: got to be able to get it to Thompson. Let
• 39:28
Speaker 6: Thompson do his thing once he catches it. He's pretty amazing.
• 39:32
Speaker 6: Once he catches that ball, you can tell why he's
• 39:34
Speaker 6: a D one athlete. So exciting to see, you know.
• 39:38
Speaker 6: And then of course defensive side, we got to get
• 39:40
Speaker 6: Patterson and Nuss you're in there and getting some penetrating
• 39:43
Speaker 6: at the line and getting in the backfield and creating
• 39:46
Speaker 6: a havoc back there like they've been doing all year.
• 39:48
Speaker 6: All right, so it should be a good.
• 39:50
Speaker 3: We're all excited about it. Here in the valley. I
• 39:53
Speaker 3: can tell you that we're all excited about all the games,
• 39:54
Speaker 3: but especially when we get a little hometown flair. Hey, Joe,
• 39:58
Speaker 3: I appreciate you taking time under scheduled to be here
• 40:00
Speaker 3: with us today. Man, great memories. I appreciate you being here.
• 40:04
Speaker 6: Yeah, no problem with one other titch on third for
• 40:06
Speaker 6: Nighter High school Athletics. You know, twenty twenty five of
• 40:08
Speaker 6: the pretty amazing year five. This is the fifth team
• 40:11
Speaker 6: going to a state championship this year, going back to
• 40:15
Speaker 6: the spring. So when the spring we had girls and
• 40:17
Speaker 6: boys basketball, fall, we've had girls and boys soccer, and
• 40:20
Speaker 6: now we're football. So it's amazing for our small little town.
• 40:24
Speaker 6: I just want to throw that plow absolutely.
• 40:25
Speaker 3: I guess I hadn't realized that, but one per I mean,
• 40:28
Speaker 3: we'll start calling it, you know, the championship the nightro
• 40:33
Speaker 3: the city. Well, I think there's already I said to you,

• 41:15

• 41:42
Speaker 3: All Right, we had a text earlier somebody wanted to
• 41:44
Speaker 3: know about one of the dogs that is featured on
• 41:49
Speaker 3: the Kneal Trothy Main Association's Facebook page, and it was
• 41:53
Speaker 3: really kind of a sad story. The dog's name was Buddy,
• 41:57
Speaker 3: and he was hit by a car and his eyes
• 42:00
Speaker 3: and I have a trouble even saying this, but this
• 42:03
Speaker 3: was the description. His eyes basically popped out, and there
• 42:06
Speaker 3: is a picture posted on the Canege Trothuman Association's Facebook page.
• 42:11
Speaker 3: During one of the breaks there, I was able to
• 42:14
Speaker 3: text Angie Gillenwater and I ask her because the text
• 42:18
Speaker 3: came in after we'd already disconnected with Angie.
• 42:20
  Speaker 6: He is.
• 42:22
Speaker 3: The Buddy is stable and still learned. This is Angie's words,
• 42:26
Speaker 3: trying to navigate the world, and she says a lot
• 42:28
Speaker 3: of questions still answered regarding vision until he fully heals,
• 42:31
Speaker 3: but they're stain optimistic. So appreciate Angie doing double duty
• 42:34
Speaker 3: and texting this that. And we're gonna take a break
• 42:37
Speaker 3: when we come back. Let's just go on over to
• 42:39
Speaker 3: the field. Dave Wilson will be calling some action over there.

• 45:13
Speaker 3: Charleston Dirty Birds, the Selango Law Light. The Night is
• 45:16
Speaker 3: back at Gomar Ballparker will continue through January. The first
• 45:19
Speaker 3: catch tickets in advanced by visiting Dblightthnight dot com. Well,
• 45:22
Speaker 3: of course, we're all focused on the championship games, so
• 45:25
Speaker 3: we're lately feel Dave Wilson, a host of Talking on
• 45:28
Speaker 3: Northern Dave, is already on site over there, mister Wilson,
• 45:32
Speaker 3: Good morning, Welcome to the show.
• 45:34
  Speaker 7: Good morning Dave.
• 45:35
Speaker 3: That's pretty much the extent of a conversation between me
• 45:38
Speaker 3: and Wilson right there, Kam. It's like, Hey, we're one
• 45:42
Speaker 3: step away from going Hello Newman.
• 45:46
Speaker 7: The question is who would be Newman?
• 45:47
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we're both Newman. I'll be honest with you.
• 45:49
Speaker 3: I don't think either one of us is cool enough
• 45:51
Speaker 3: to be Jerry Seinfeld. I think we're probably both Newman
• 45:53
Speaker 3: all right, so you got to call on the first
• 45:55
Speaker 3: game today? Is that right?
• 45:57
Speaker 7: Yes, sir, be along with the Fred Persinger at noon
• 45:59
Speaker 7: Morgantown and Martzburg for the Glass four A title.
• 46:02
Speaker 3: All right, what's the How are things looking over at
• 46:05
Speaker 3: the field right now? Everything looking good? I mean we
• 46:07
Speaker 3: had we had a little bit of snow here in Charles,
• 46:08
Speaker 3: not a lot, but a little bit of snow.
• 46:10
Speaker 7: I mean, this is great football weather. It's coldest snowing.
• 46:13
Speaker 7: What else would you want for a championship game? Now,
• 46:16
Speaker 7: it's gonna be a little slip going I think out
• 46:17
Speaker 7: on the field there is a fine layer of snow
• 46:19
Speaker 7: that's gonna meld off and go away. But the field's
• 46:22
Speaker 7: going to be I think a little bit slick. We'll
• 46:24
Speaker 7: see how the guys handle it. Both these offenses focus
• 46:27
Speaker 7: on the quarterback Brian Dick for Martinsburg Mattox Twig for Morgantown,
• 46:31
Speaker 7: and they're both of them make plays with their legses capability.
• 46:36
Speaker 7: They're both the leading rushers for their teams, so we'll
• 46:39
Speaker 7: see how that factors in. Again, this is artificial turf,
• 46:42
Speaker 7: so it's not like it's gonna be muddy or anything, Dave,
• 46:44
Speaker 7: but could be slick, especially at the beginning of the
• 46:46
  Speaker 7: ball game.
• 46:47
Speaker 3: So talk about some of the other matchups. How many
• 46:50
Speaker 3: games are you doing?
• 46:52
Speaker 7: So I'll be doing this one on radio. I'll be
• 46:54
Speaker 7: doing color on television tonight with Kyle Wigs for Clay
• 46:57
Speaker 7: Betel and Wheeling Central CBS in their first ever championship game,
• 47:01
Speaker 7: taking on a Wheeling Central program that has twelve titles
• 47:05
Speaker 7: in thirteen trips to the state championship game, but this
• 47:08
Speaker 7: group's making its first appearance in six years. That's coming
• 47:11
Speaker 7: up tonight tomorrow Frankfurt and blue Field. Frankfort going for
• 47:15
Speaker 7: back to back titles. Blue Field, of course a team
• 47:18
Speaker 7: that has been a regular in the championships over the season,
• 47:20
Speaker 7: so that should be a good matchup. And then finally,
• 47:23
Speaker 7: Nitro and I just went totally bright Princeton Princeton, Princeton, Princeton,
• 47:29
Speaker 7: Nitro and Princeton. That game could have one hundred and
• 47:32
Speaker 7: twenty points score between the two teams by the time
• 47:34
Speaker 7: it's over. So I think we want to have four
• 47:36
Speaker 7: really good ball games here today, all.
• 47:37
Speaker 3: Right, And again we're going to have all the games
• 47:39
Speaker 3: here on WCCHS. We also are going to be streaming
• 47:41
Speaker 3: all the games on Metro News Television, So if you
• 47:44
Speaker 3: haven't yet download the app, make sure you do. Wilson,
• 47:46
Speaker 3: all right, our conversations over.
• 47:49
Speaker 7: All right, Hey, turn the TV app on, then turn
• 47:51
Speaker 7: the volume down, turn the radio up.
• 47:53
Speaker 3: There you go, that's what you do, all right, Wilson,
• 47:55
Speaker 3: appreciate you being here, man, Thanks a lo. I have
• 47:57
Speaker 3: a great broadcast, all right, thanks Dave? All right? Nine
• 48:00
Speaker 3: five to Dave Allen, showing five Dyline Brown to invited
• 48:02
Speaker 3: by Husband's Pizza get the Hustin's Holiday pack large, a
• 48:04
Speaker 3: tenach pepperoni pizza, ten breadsticks, twelve hot wings, and a
• 48:07
Speaker 3: two looter bottle of PEPSI only thirty three ninety nine Texas, Well,
• 48:11
Speaker 3: that's special on Charleston football being made available online to
• 48:13
Speaker 3: listen to later. As I won't be able to listen
• 48:16
Speaker 3: to ten oh six tomorrow morning, I'm sure it will.
• 48:19
Speaker 3: I don't know that for one of I mean, we
• 48:20
Speaker 3: podcast pretty much every special program we do here, so
• 48:23
  Speaker 3: I don't know that for a fact, but I'm going
• 48:25
Speaker 3: to probably say yes, Texas, Dave. How about them Cowboys?
• 48:29
Speaker 3: I knew that was coming first. Their offense was a problem,
• 48:32
Speaker 3: got it? Fixed and the defense did what they did
• 48:34
Speaker 3: and got helped out with some trades. Now the special
• 48:36
Speaker 3: teams decided to take the night off for whatever reason.
• 48:39
Speaker 3: The Cowboys are playing whack them all, trying to fix
• 48:40
Speaker 3: their issues. What's next? Are the goalposts going to fall over?
• 48:44
  Speaker 3: Says a Texter. Yeah, it's it's it's possible. Coming up
• 48:50
Speaker 3: later today, Metro News Midday powered by a Selango Law.

Speaker 3: as well. I just got some information TJ. Meadows is here.
• 49:48
Speaker 3: He'll course be coming up with talk Line and some
• 49:50
Speaker 3: news broke over night. TJ. I don't even know if
• 49:51
Speaker 3: you are aware of this or not, but legendary broadcaster
• 49:55
Speaker 3: and native to the area, Ed Rabel has passed away.
• 49:58
Speaker 3: My goodness, I did not not that. And for those
• 50:01
Speaker 3: who don't know, nineteen I mean, just a legend in
• 50:05
Speaker 3: the broadcasting world sixties and seventies. He was with CBS
• 50:11
Speaker 3: and NBC. A native of Saint Albans, you see graduates.
• 50:17
Speaker 3: He is of course into West Virginia Broadcasting the Hall
• 50:20

• 50:23

• 50:26
Speaker 3: and I was just texting back and forth with Mark
• 50:27
Speaker 3: Curtis will be joining us on the show today to
• 50:31
Speaker 3: talk about the career of Ed Rabel. You talk about
• 50:32
Speaker 3: a Hall of Famer from right here in Canawa County. Man,
• 50:35
Speaker 3: he was, yeah, and man, what a legend, And just
• 50:39
Speaker 3: a lot of the legends are unfortunately they're coming to
• 50:41
Speaker 3: that time. Yeah, but you know Ed was always really
• 50:45
Speaker 3: good too. He would drop an op ed then and now,
• 50:48
Speaker 3: trying to be a voice of reason with everything that
• 50:51
Speaker 3: was going on, so he'd still have an occasional op ed.
• 50:53
Speaker 3: So I'm very sorry to hear about that, So condolences
• 50:56
Speaker 3: to the Rebel family. Indeed, all right, what you got

• 51:20
Speaker 18: But anyway, you know, Dave, the Data Center bill passed
• 51:23
Speaker 18: this last session. Part of that is making legislative rules
• 51:26
Speaker 18: on how to cite these facilities. Those rules are out.
• 51:30
Speaker 18: Public comment is going that actually ends December the tenth,
• 51:33
Speaker 18: So Nick's going to come in. We're going to talk
