- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Now here's your host, Nasa Chobie.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to another edition of Hawk Talk, a playoff edition
- 0:14Speaker 1: of Hawk Talk. As a Seahawks getting ready to face
- 0:16Speaker 1: the San Francisco forty nine ers in the divisional playoffs,
- 0:19Speaker 1: running back one more time. This is why people do it.
- 0:22Speaker 1: This is why you want to be a fan for
- 0:24Speaker 1: moments like this. Winner goes home, truly winner take af
- 0:27Speaker 1: scenario bump and gets your.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Popcor Ready's about to be fun. Let's go baby.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Third time is the charm, So might as well run
- 0:34Speaker 3: that thing back and do what we're supposed to do.
- 0:36Speaker 2: This this is fun. Man.
- 0:37Speaker 3: You got three NFC West teams left in the playoffs,
- 0:39Speaker 3: the best division in football.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Why not representing and go up against the FOAX.
- 0:43Speaker 1: No question about it. I believe I saw this on
- 0:45Speaker 1: ESPN Insights. I think there's only been two other or
- 0:47Speaker 1: three other divisions that had three playoff teams in the
- 0:50Speaker 1: division round in playoffs. So that just shows you how
- 0:51Speaker 1: good the division is. We've been talking about that all year.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It's pretty clear Nowaday and before we get into those
- 0:56Speaker 1: forty nine ers, because we've got a lot of good
- 0:57Speaker 1: stuff for you today. Quick shout out to sea that
- 1:00Speaker 1: were named to the All Pro Team, JSN first Team,
- 1:02Speaker 1: Witherspoon's second team, LEO second team, Ernest Jones second team,
- 1:06Speaker 1: and Michael Dixon's second team. Honestly, all those guys are
- 1:09Speaker 1: probably worthy of first team. And there's a lot more
- 1:11Speaker 1: missing from this list, I feel like, but you can't
- 1:13Speaker 1: get too greedy, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I'm just glad Ernest got his love man snuff for
- 1:17Speaker 3: the Pro Bowl. So nice that his peers and other
- 1:21Speaker 3: people are appreciate him properly.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Yeah, No, it's a They're doing a lot of good
- 1:25Speaker 1: things weren't typed by the defense extensively of today.
- 1:27Speaker 2: But let's get into those forty nine ers. What's on tap?
- 1:31Speaker 2: What's on tap?
- 1:33Speaker 1: They were twelve and five, finished second place in the
- 1:35Speaker 1: NFC West. They won a wildcard game of last week
- 1:39Speaker 1: Bump over the Philadelphia Eagles twenty three to nineteen, and honestly, Bump,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it, I think that was the best
- 1:45Speaker 1: win of the Kyle Shanahan era. They had a good
- 1:48Speaker 1: win against the Packers. I believe in the divisional round
- 1:50Speaker 1: maybe in twenty one, but just knowing the injuries that
- 1:52Speaker 1: they're dealing with and what's going on, they went across
- 1:55Speaker 1: the country on.
- 1:56Speaker 2: A short week.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I know everyone's making a big deal about that, but
- 1:58Speaker 1: they did handle business and they beat the defending champs.
- 2:01Speaker 1: You're the defending champs until someone beats you, and that's
- 2:03Speaker 1: what the Niners did. What'd you see out of that matchup? Yeah,
- 2:05Speaker 1: they did a good job.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Man. The game kicked off the Niners.
- 2:07Speaker 3: They marched down the field six plays seventy six yards
- 2:10Speaker 3: on the ended with a touchdown pass to DeMarcus Robinson
- 2:13Speaker 3: as a fort night sik A seven er league, and
- 2:15Speaker 3: then the Eagles. Eagles would answer with a ten play
- 2:17Speaker 3: sixty three yard drive ending with the Dallas got a touchdown,
- 2:19Speaker 3: but they missed the extra point. I'm seeing a lot
- 2:21Speaker 3: of missed extra points these days. Yeah, especially it's weird,
- 2:24Speaker 3: but they're hitting bombs from fifty like it's sixty sixty,
- 2:27Speaker 3: seventy crazy all right. Three drives later, Eagles will put
- 2:30Speaker 3: together another impressive drive sixteen plays ninety four yards and
- 2:33Speaker 3: he would have touchdown to got it.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I said that already, thank you.
- 2:36Speaker 3: The Niners would answer with a field goal and the
- 2:38Speaker 3: score was thirteen to ten Philly at the half.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a close game. The Eagles would kick
- 2:43Speaker 1: a field goal after only three points in a third quarter.
- 2:45Speaker 1: The forty nine Ers would answer with a trick play
- 2:47Speaker 1: with Jennings hitting McCaffrey. It was a nice throw too,
- 2:50Speaker 1: I was gonna say he got he got lit up
- 2:51Speaker 1: to and he made a great throw that made the
- 2:53Speaker 1: score seventeen to sixteen. And then after an Eagles field goal,
- 2:57Speaker 1: the forty nine ers wild financione again with a four
- 2:59Speaker 1: yard touchdown Christian McCaffrey that made to score twenty three
- 3:02Speaker 1: to nineteen. Bump down four one last chance to go
- 3:05Speaker 1: in the game. Facing a fourth and eleven, the forty
- 3:07Speaker 1: nine Ers were or the Eagles are unable to get
- 3:10Speaker 1: it done there incomplete on fourth and eleven, Jails hurt,
- 3:12Speaker 1: Hurts could not find Goddard.
- 3:14Speaker 2: They lose the ball game.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Pretty crazy, Yeah, then, perty he had a decent day
- 3:19Speaker 3: eighteen of thirty one two sixty two two touchdowns, but
- 3:22Speaker 3: he did have two interceptions. McCaffrey looked like the guy
- 3:24Speaker 3: that he's been all year, one hundred and fourteen total
- 3:26Speaker 3: yards and two touchdowns. DeMarcus Robinson led all receivers with
- 3:30Speaker 3: one hundred and eleven yards on six receptions and one touchdown.
- 3:34Speaker 3: The last time I saw DeMarcus he was catching a
- 3:37Speaker 3: touchdown for the Rams in overtime against US. That was
- 3:40Speaker 3: the last flashback I had a DeMarcus Robinson. Jalen Hurts
- 3:44Speaker 3: had himself a good day Okada twenty thirty five one
- 3:47Speaker 3: to sixty eighty one touchdown. It's probably why there Oc
- 3:50Speaker 3: has been let go. Saekuwon Barkley had one hundred and
- 3:52Speaker 3: six yards on twenty six carries. The Eagles didn't look
- 3:56Speaker 3: like the Eagles of last year a lot of because
- 3:59Speaker 3: Devino offens coordinated offense, line wasn't healthy, and you got
- 4:02Speaker 3: the weapons though.
- 4:03Speaker 2: That's why I was surprised that they didn't win this game.
- 4:04Speaker 1: They were having issues kind of all year, and I
- 4:06Speaker 1: think I finally just came to fruition that they weren't
- 4:08Speaker 1: able to get it done.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Tipper captain the Niners.
- 4:10Speaker 1: They went down there and they took care of business
- 4:12Speaker 1: on the road, got the win, but it wasn't at
- 4:15Speaker 1: a cost. George Kittle goes down with an achilles injury.
- 4:17Speaker 1: He's done for the year, and tough one for him.
- 4:20Speaker 1: We know how good George Kittle is. We've talked about
- 4:22Speaker 1: him extensively over the years in this show, so big
- 4:24Speaker 1: ups to George. Hope he gets back healthy, but he's
- 4:26Speaker 1: not going to play against the Seahawks. The rubber match
- 4:28Speaker 1: coming your way. But let's summon his little head to
- 4:30Speaker 1: head matchup. Looking at regular season numbers, so we'll kind
- 4:33Speaker 1: of breeze through this, but just showing you how close
- 4:35Speaker 1: these teams are. Offensively, the Seahawks are eighth in the
- 4:38Speaker 1: eighth in the NFL three hundred and fifty one yards
- 4:40Speaker 1: a game, tenth in rushing offense, eighth in passing offense,
- 4:44Speaker 1: and third in points per game. When you look at
- 4:45Speaker 1: the nine Ers, they were seventh in total offense, twenty
- 4:48Speaker 1: fourth rushing the ball, which is crazy when you think
- 4:50Speaker 1: of who they have. We'll dive in that a little
- 4:52Speaker 1: bit later. They were fifth in pass offense and tenth
- 4:54Speaker 1: in points per game, getting twenty five per.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Pretty close to most numbers except that rush offense. Defensively,
- 5:00Speaker 3: the Hawks were sixth overaw Niners twentieth Hawks third against
- 5:04Speaker 3: the run, the Niners eleventh. The Hawks tenth against the
- 5:08Speaker 3: pass the forty nine Ers twenty fifth and points allowed
- 5:10Speaker 3: the Hawks number one in the league, allowing seventeen point
- 5:13Speaker 3: two in the forty nine ers thirteenth twenty one point eight,
- 5:16Speaker 3: a number that sticks out to me. His interceptions by
- 5:19Speaker 3: the Niners only six eighteen by the Seattle Seahawks.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and then while you're talking about that sacks, Okay,
- 5:26Speaker 1: the Seahawks got after the forty seven sacks Niners twenty.
- 5:30Speaker 1: So what some people will perceive as a Seahawks weakness offensively,
- 5:34Speaker 1: he is turning the ball over. That's there's no running
- 5:36Speaker 1: away from that. But the Niners aren't forcing turnovers that
- 5:39Speaker 1: way and they're not sacking the quarterback that way. So
- 5:41Speaker 1: I think that'll be a big factor as you're going
- 5:43Speaker 1: to this matchup. But let's turn the page back a
- 5:45Speaker 1: little bit. Let's know that history.
- 5:47Speaker 2: No, your history.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Seahawk leade all time series thirty two, twenty four, thirty
- 5:52Speaker 1: one in twenty three in the regular season and one
- 5:54Speaker 1: in one in the postseason. Seahawks obviously won that last
- 5:57Speaker 1: matchup just a few weeks ago in Week eighteen for
- 5:59Speaker 1: the NFCS title. It was a ten point game, thirteen
- 6:02Speaker 1: to three, But no mistake about it, that was a
- 6:04Speaker 1: beat down. There's a physical beat down. The Seahawks defense
- 6:07Speaker 1: absolutely suffocated the forty nine Ers. Offensively, the Seahawks moved
- 6:10Speaker 1: to the ball, they almost had a touchdown the first drive.
- 6:12Speaker 2: That an eight minute drive. Late in the game.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Zach Charberney did his thing and when you look at it,
- 6:18Speaker 1: I again, the numbers might lie to you, but the
- 6:20Speaker 1: Hawks out game the Niners three sixty one to one,
- 6:22Speaker 1: seventy three outrushed him one eighty to fifty three. One
- 6:25Speaker 1: time possession thirty seven, forty eight to twenty two twelve.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Hawks had twenty three first downs, they had nine. So
- 6:31Speaker 1: it was it was a game where the Seahawks played
- 6:34Speaker 1: on their terms and they dominated that football game. So
- 6:36Speaker 1: it'll be interesting to see what the Niners have to
- 6:39Speaker 1: come back from the first matchup. The Seahawks were only
- 6:41Speaker 1: able to score thirteen points seventeen thirteen. You can look
- 6:43Speaker 1: at that game and say what it could have, should have.
- 6:46Speaker 1: But the rubber match will decide everything that's going on.
- 6:48Speaker 1: But before we get deep into those forty nine ers,
- 6:50Speaker 1: to take a look around the NFC West. What's the
- 6:52Speaker 1: word the Seahawks all the NFS see West champs again.
- 7:01Speaker 2: What's the word in the West on Hawk Talk? You
- 7:06Speaker 2: heard it.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Rabe said it, NFC West champions again. Seahawks in the
- 7:10Speaker 3: season fourteen and three, Rams twelve and five, nine, Ers
- 7:13Speaker 3: twelve and five, and the Cardinals three and fourteen. We've
- 7:16Speaker 3: been saying it for some time. This is the best
- 7:18Speaker 3: division in football, up and down. Cardinals joined the party.
- 7:21Speaker 3: But you know, the Hawks, Rams, and Niners got you covered.
- 7:25Speaker 2: It's not even close. Man.
- 7:26Speaker 3: The four teams in the NFC playoffs, we got three
- 7:28Speaker 3: of them come from the NFC West, like we said
- 7:30Speaker 3: before them and for the Seyawks have made the Super Bowl,
- 7:32Speaker 3: there's a good chance they would need to be both rivals.
- 7:34Speaker 3: You got the Rams and the Niners. But one game
- 7:37Speaker 3: at a time, sir.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and one game at a time in the Rams,
- 7:40Speaker 1: you know, I'm hearing a lot about how they're not
- 7:42Speaker 1: playing well right now.
- 7:43Speaker 2: It is what it is. But in the playoffs it
- 7:45Speaker 2: doesn't matter. Don't survive in advance.
- 7:47Speaker 1: This is a rematch when they played the Panthers in
- 7:48Speaker 1: Wildcard of Week thirteen, where the Panthers upset the Rams
- 7:51Speaker 1: thirty one to twenty eight. In this matchup, the Rams
- 7:54Speaker 1: were up a lot bump. They're up seventeen to seven
- 7:56Speaker 1: driving the second quarter of this game. This was where
- 7:58Speaker 1: the game kind of turned. Fourth and one. The Rams,
- 8:00Speaker 1: they are aggressive, they go for the juggular, they.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Do not get it.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I think that's when the game turned. The Panthers are
- 8:05Speaker 1: able to get back in the game, score the next points,
- 8:07Speaker 1: and then eventually take the lead with a chub but
- 8:09Speaker 1: Herbard touchdown that made the score twenty four to twenty
- 8:11Speaker 1: set up by.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Mike Jackson in their session.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Mike Jackson continuing to make plays down there Rams the
- 8:15Speaker 1: answer with eleven play drive anyone with Kien Williams touchdown,
- 8:18Speaker 1: taking the lead twenty seven to twenty four. Phoka Nakua
- 8:21Speaker 1: helped save that drive when he turned into offensive back
- 8:23Speaker 1: and broke up a for sure interception.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Mom.
- 8:25Speaker 3: That was a great defensive play receivers. If it's underthrown,
- 8:28Speaker 3: Baltsaga intercepted, you are now the defender. Two drives later,
- 8:32Speaker 3: the Panthers blocked the punt, setting up a short field
- 8:34Speaker 3: for Jalen Cocher touchdown, making the score thirty one to
- 8:37Speaker 3: twenty seven with two thirty nine left in the ballgame,
- 8:40Speaker 3: and of course, I was too much time for Matthew Stafford.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I knew, I knew it was too much time.
- 8:44Speaker 3: He marched down the field, finds Kobe Parkson beautiful throw
- 8:47Speaker 3: on the sideline backs shoulder. Kobe Twist scores a touchdown
- 8:50Speaker 3: that makes the score thirty four to thirty one. The
- 8:52Speaker 3: Panthers only have thirty eight seconds left, but they had
- 8:54Speaker 3: all three timeouts but just weren't able to get it done.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it was.
- 8:57Speaker 1: It was if you're a Panthers fan, frustrating in this
- 9:00Speaker 1: day and age in the NFL, thirty eight seconds, even
- 9:02Speaker 1: if you don't have all three timeouts, is usually enough
- 9:05Speaker 1: to get back in the field goal range. What kickers
- 9:07Speaker 1: are doing there, But they were unable to get not
- 9:10Speaker 1: even a yard. They couldn't get a completion. They lose
- 9:13Speaker 1: the game rams win. Stafford finished the day twenty four
- 9:16Speaker 1: to forty two, three h four, three touchdowns, one interception.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Houkinakua ten receptions, one hundred eleven yards, one touchdown. Bryce
- 9:22Speaker 1: Young twenty one to forty two to sixty four to
- 9:24Speaker 1: one touchdown, one interception.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Kocher had one hundred and thirty four and nine receptions
- 9:29Speaker 3: at a touchdown. Hubbard had two rushing touchdowns and the
- 9:32Speaker 3: Rams that keeps saying it happened to play the best
- 9:34Speaker 3: ball since losing to the Seahawks, But you survive in advance.
- 9:36Speaker 3: They gotta go to Chicago and take on the Hot
- 9:39Speaker 3: Bears right now.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that speak about that game for a quick second.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Bump that to me.
- 9:45Speaker 1: It felt like the Packers did everything they could to
- 9:47Speaker 1: lose that game. Yep, but it is what it is
- 9:49Speaker 1: you for, survive in advance. Caleb Williams makes an unbelievable
- 9:52Speaker 1: plays on fourth down. They win the ball game, and
- 9:54Speaker 1: it's gonna be cold. But yeah, it's gonna be cold,
- 9:56Speaker 1: it's gonna be snow, it's gonna be nasty. So we'll
- 9:58Speaker 1: see what the Rams have you know in store for
- 10:01Speaker 1: them going across the country. But both take our focus
- 10:03Speaker 1: back to the San Francisco forty nine ers.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Time to man up, Hey, who you got, who you got?
- 10:09Speaker 2: You know what time it is? Man up? Man up, brother,
- 10:11Speaker 2: man up, man up.
- 10:12Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk, we always started the quarterbacks, so no
- 10:15Speaker 1: changes here. Brock Purty, He's had a pretty good season,
- 10:18Speaker 1: been a big part of their team's kind of resurgence
- 10:20Speaker 1: in the second half of the year. Week won against
- 10:22Speaker 1: the Seahawks twenty six of thirty five two seventy seven,
- 10:24Speaker 1: two touchdowns, two picks, five carriers for seventeen yards. Week eighteen,
- 10:29Speaker 1: nineteen of twenty seven one to twenty seven, zero touchdowns,
- 10:32Speaker 1: one interception. Obviously much worse game this so far the
- 10:35Speaker 1: season in nine games he has, he's one ninety seven
- 10:38Speaker 1: for two eighty four twenty one hundred and sixty seven
- 10:40Speaker 1: yards twenty touchdowns in ten interceptions. Also has one hundred
- 10:44Speaker 1: and forty seven yards of three touchdowns rushing the ball.
- 10:46Speaker 1: This last week, he had a pretty good game against
- 10:49Speaker 1: the Eagles with two touchdowns.
- 10:50Speaker 2: He did have the two interceptions.
- 10:52Speaker 1: According to your Next Gen SATs party completed thirteen of
- 10:54Speaker 1: seventeen passes for one ninety seven two touchdowns in an
- 10:57Speaker 1: interception when targeting between the seams and their playoff win
- 11:00Speaker 1: against the Eagles. You know, Paul Moris talked about this
- 11:03Speaker 1: all all the time, and he and the numbers bear
- 11:06Speaker 1: it up. Yeah, you got to force them through outside. Yep,
- 11:08Speaker 1: you got to force them the throar outside. That's when
- 11:10Speaker 1: you mistakes happen. And Pernie he's done his thing when
- 11:13Speaker 1: he's been healthy. He's done a lot with weapons injured,
- 11:17Speaker 1: so I'll give him credit. You know a lot of
- 11:18Speaker 1: people have talked about, well, it's easy to do it
- 11:21Speaker 1: when you have a Deebo Samuel Christian McCaffrey or George Kittle,
- 11:23Speaker 1: Kyle Hughes, Shag you just started going down the line.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Brandon Ayuk and he's he's had a deal with injuries. Offensively,
- 11:28Speaker 1: the Seahawks are definitely gonna give him. You know, their
- 11:32Speaker 1: their best shot. A couple of cool next gen stats, though,
- 11:35Speaker 1: we're talking about purty from the Seahawks. Defensively, the Seahawks
- 11:38Speaker 1: have been getting after the quarterback all season long. Six
- 11:40Speaker 1: different Seahawk defenders generated at least thirty pressures this season,
- 11:44Speaker 1: all of which were defensive linemen Demark Lawrence fifty one,
- 11:47Speaker 1: Byron Murphy forty six, Leonard Williams forty five, Chennan Nuwosu
- 11:51Speaker 1: forty four, Boy Mafi forty one, Derek Hall thirty six.
- 11:55Speaker 1: No other defense had more than four such players accomplished
- 11:58Speaker 1: that feat. As a result, so many to pass Rusher
- 12:00Speaker 1: of the Seahawks managed to generate the league's fourth highest
- 12:02Speaker 1: pressure rate thirty eight point nine percent when blitzing at
- 12:06Speaker 1: the eighth lowest rate so they get after the quarterback.
- 12:08Speaker 1: That's the key in my in my opinion, you you
- 12:11Speaker 1: suffocate Brock Party, you get after him, you make life hell,
- 12:13Speaker 1: you throw the ball outside.
- 12:14Speaker 2: That's how you really kind of throw him off his game.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Yeah, when he's sitting in a nice comfy pocket and
- 12:19Speaker 3: with all the crossing patterns that's going on, layer you up.
- 12:21Speaker 3: It's gonna be tough. So yes, get after that quarterback.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Let's talk about our quarterback man. He was among the
- 12:26Speaker 3: league's best this season, and he found a home in Seattle,
- 12:29Speaker 3: and we love him.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Okayrock, I mean Brock, Sam and do your thing.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Donald's fifth in the NFL in passing yards with four
- 12:35Speaker 3: thousand and forty eight, second in NFL when it comes
- 12:37Speaker 3: to yards per pass attempt eight point five and second
- 12:40Speaker 3: in NFL yards per completion twelve point five. On the season,
- 12:44Speaker 3: he's completed sixty seven percent of his passes for twenty
- 12:46Speaker 3: five touchdowns and fourteen interceptions. He's tied for the most
- 12:50Speaker 3: wins in the consecutives in two consecutive seasons by a QB.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Guess who was tied with the goat, the great Tom Brady.
- 12:57Speaker 3: He's a Pro Bowl selection. He has nine game winning
- 12:59Speaker 3: drives the fourth quarter in overtimes is twenty twenty four.
- 13:02Speaker 3: That's the most in the NFL. In two games against
- 13:05Speaker 3: the Niners, he's completed thirty six to forty nine for
- 13:08Speaker 3: three forty eight, zero touchdowns, zero interceptions. The Niners finished
- 13:11Speaker 3: record season twentieth overall with three under forty yards per game.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Get after him. The Niners are dead last and secks
- 13:17Speaker 3: dead last. We said this already with twenty Let's keep
- 13:19Speaker 3: the good times rolling. Their thirtieth in pressures with one six,
- 13:22Speaker 3: and thirtieth in pressure percentage at just sixteen point seven,
- 13:26Speaker 3: and they don't blitz a lot on the eighteen point
- 13:27Speaker 3: three percent, twenty ninth in the league. Most importantly, there's
- 13:30Speaker 3: no Nick Bosa, no Fred Warner. Protect your quarterback.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say advantage Teahawks there. They've done a
- 13:36Speaker 1: good job protecting him all season long. So I don't
- 13:38Speaker 1: see why anything needs to stop on Sunday. Looking at
- 13:41Speaker 1: the running back Christian McCaffrey, Okay, his resume speaks for himself.
- 13:45Speaker 1: We know that it's a long run. One of the
- 13:47Speaker 1: most decorated running backs. We talked about him, calm, Swiss,
- 13:49Speaker 1: army and night every time we have the chance. Four
- 13:50Speaker 1: time Pro Bowl, three time All Pro. He was both
- 13:53Speaker 1: of those this season and he had another obviously another
- 13:56Speaker 1: great year. He get first team or second team. I
- 13:58Speaker 1: believe he got first team. But it wasn't just straight
- 14:01Speaker 1: up running back. It was like all purpose. It was
- 14:03Speaker 1: like a created title. Obviously him not taking anything away
- 14:06Speaker 1: from them, but it's because he does it. Allus was
- 14:09Speaker 1: Harvey nine, so they had to create a designation for him,
- 14:13Speaker 1: but no McCaffrey. Three hundred eleven carries, twelve hundred yards,
- 14:16Speaker 1: ten touchdowns, one or two, one hundred and two receptions,
- 14:19Speaker 1: nine hundred and twenty four yards seven receptions. That is
- 14:21Speaker 1: deadly as a running back. He led the league with
- 14:24Speaker 1: four hundred and thirteen touches, so his exposure was crazy.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Second in scrimmage yards, fourth and all purpose yards. But
- 14:30Speaker 1: in the two games against Seattle, thirty carries for ninety
- 14:33Speaker 1: two yards, just three yards of carry, fifteen receptions for
- 14:36Speaker 1: one hundred and seven yards. He had a decent game
- 14:38Speaker 1: in that first one receiving the football, so that's where
- 14:41Speaker 1: he can hurt you. McCaffrey generally thirty one yards after
- 14:44Speaker 1: the catch in the passing game, converting six to eight
- 14:46Speaker 1: targets into receptions against the Eagles.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Now here's how good the Seahawks are defensively. Seahawks. We've
- 14:53Speaker 2: talked about it.
- 14:53Speaker 1: They've allowed a league low three point one yards per
- 14:56Speaker 1: carry on design runs at feature in motion, which Kyle
- 14:58Speaker 1: Shanahan do all the time to figure out what's going on.
- 15:02Speaker 1: If you was allowed by any defense over the past
- 15:04Speaker 1: two seasons. Now, this is one that's probably gonna be
- 15:07Speaker 1: interesting for most people out there. The forty nine ers
- 15:09Speaker 1: offense's motion at the snap on two hundred and twelve
- 15:12Speaker 1: design runs this season, fifth most in the NFL. That's
- 15:14Speaker 1: not the shocking part. Despite their high volume, they averagees
- 15:17Speaker 1: three point six yards per carry on those plays, the
- 15:20Speaker 1: third fewest in the NFL, more than only the Cardinals
- 15:24Speaker 1: at three or five and the Giants at three five.
- 15:25Speaker 1: When you have Christian McCaffrey, Kyle Shanahan, the people that
- 15:28Speaker 1: have on there, that's shocking to me.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, man, it's impressive. It is impressive.
- 15:33Speaker 3: We know we're going to see a lot of motion
- 15:34Speaker 3: on both sides, and I love that it makes a
- 15:36Speaker 3: defense have to react and declare what you were in?
- 15:38Speaker 2: Are you zone? Are you men?
- 15:40Speaker 3: And they try to outleverage you a chess game. We're
- 15:43Speaker 3: going to see on Saturday. Chess game.
- 15:44Speaker 2: All right, let's talk about the forty nine ers wide outs.
- 15:47Speaker 2: All right.
- 15:47Speaker 3: We know the receivement corps has been through a lot
- 15:50Speaker 3: this year when it comes to injuries.
- 15:52Speaker 2: But here's what we got.
- 15:53Speaker 3: You got Dwan Jennings this year, fifty five recess from
- 15:56Speaker 3: six hundred and forty three yards and nine touchdowns. Week
- 15:59Speaker 3: one against the hot he had two for sixteen. Week four,
- 16:01Speaker 3: he had four for thirty five. Wildcard game, he had
- 16:04Speaker 3: one reception for forty five yards and a twenty nine
- 16:06Speaker 3: yard touchdown. Ricky Pierso, the guy who's been in and
- 16:09Speaker 3: out the lineup as well, thirty six receptions for five
- 16:11Speaker 3: to twenty two, no touchdowns. Week one against the Hawks,
- 16:14Speaker 3: he had four receptions for one o eight. Didn't play
- 16:16Speaker 3: Week eighteen, didn't play in the wildcard. Status is still
- 16:19Speaker 3: up in the air. We'll see what happens there. A
- 16:21Speaker 3: former Seahawks, Malie Turner, was activated our practice squad. In
- 16:24Speaker 3: his place, he got Kendrick Bourne thirty seven receptions, five
- 16:28Speaker 3: hundred and fifty one yards, zero touchdowns.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Week one.
- 16:30Speaker 3: He didn't play Week eighteen one target on zero receptions.
- 16:34Speaker 3: And then you have DeMarcus Robinson twenty two receptions two
- 16:37Speaker 3: seventy six on the year with one touchdown.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Week one, he didn't play.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Week eighteen, he had three for twenty four Wildcard game
- 16:43Speaker 3: breakout game as a Niners six receptions for one hundred
- 16:45Speaker 3: and eleven yards and one touchdowns. He's never had more
- 16:49Speaker 3: than three receptions or forty four yards in any other
- 16:51Speaker 3: game this season. Shanahan was scheming him up, that's for sure.
- 16:55Speaker 3: The Hawks been battle tested all season long. They should
- 16:58Speaker 3: be ready for this the shelven as the Hawks finish
- 16:59Speaker 3: tenth against the has allowing.
- 17:01Speaker 2: One ninety three yards per game.
- 17:03Speaker 3: The Seahawks had eighteen interception this season, fifth most in
- 17:06Speaker 3: the NFL.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Yeah, they're getting after the quarterback. The guys you just mentioned,
- 17:11Speaker 1: they can all play. Jennings has Man a ton of plays.
- 17:13Speaker 1: DeMarcus Robinson has been an ogenius league for a long time.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Pierce saw us the first round pick for a reason.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Born all that, But you know they're going up against
- 17:21Speaker 1: a very good secondary. Tree Wollen, Reek Wollen, Josh Joe,
- 17:26Speaker 1: Kobe Bryant's coming back.
- 17:27Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Julian love Devin Witherspoon and looking at it like you know,
- 17:32Speaker 1: there's been a lot said about rerequilling this year and
- 17:34Speaker 1: Josh Joe, So both of them allowed the fewest fifth
- 17:39Speaker 1: fewest yards per target when playing man coverage, respectively, Reek
- 17:42Speaker 1: Wooling two point seven, Josh Shoe three point seven. Among quarterbacks.
- 17:45Speaker 1: That's face at least twenty targets. So they're doing their
- 17:47Speaker 1: thing when they're in man situations. Well, the Seahawks is
- 17:49Speaker 1: defensive played man coverage the Ahois rate the season, both
- 17:53Speaker 1: wool And thirty three percent and Joe thirty eight percent
- 17:55Speaker 1: helped man covered assignment on thirty three percent of their snaps,
- 17:58Speaker 1: mark slightly abovely Gabadge the thing when they're in man Obviously,
- 18:02Speaker 1: guys next Gen does an amazing job on all this
- 18:04Speaker 1: stuff that they give us. Some of those you take
- 18:06Speaker 1: your grain of salt, because you don't know when you're
- 18:07Speaker 1: not in the defensive team meeting room, you don't know everything.
- 18:09Speaker 1: But it just paints a picture that when they're in
- 18:11Speaker 1: these situations, Bump, they're playing good defense.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Yeah, they are man and they're sticky, and they don't
- 18:16Speaker 3: get the love they deserve. So we will give it
- 18:18Speaker 3: to them here.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Absolutely, let's look at the receivers Jackson, Smith and Jay
- 18:23Speaker 1: but Cooper, cuppersed Shaheed going against this forty nine or
- 18:26Speaker 1: secondary JSN man, what can you say about him best
- 18:29Speaker 1: in the game, finish the season leading the NFL in
- 18:32Speaker 1: yards first and yards per touch second, in yards per game,
- 18:35Speaker 1: fourth in NFL receptions six in touchdown ninth, and yards
- 18:38Speaker 1: per reception TI for the league, leading exposed to play
- 18:41Speaker 1: twenty seven plays for twenty or more yards. Best season
- 18:43Speaker 1: ever in the history of the franchise for the Seahawks,
- 18:46Speaker 1: thirteen to ninety yard games, most for n F receiver
- 18:49Speaker 1: twenty three yards or younger Pro Bowl, First Team All Pro,
- 18:52Speaker 1: a million more. We could go ten minutes about that
- 18:55Speaker 1: against the Niners. Week one nine receptions one hundred and
- 18:58Speaker 1: twenty four yards. Week eighteen six receptions eighty four yards.
- 19:02Speaker 1: So he can see it up obviously, you know there's
- 19:05Speaker 1: been a lot of talk between the secondary over there
- 19:07Speaker 1: and both sides, So it'll be interesting to see what
- 19:09Speaker 1: JSN in Tam Darnold can do this weekend.
- 19:12Speaker 2: But a level received from number eleven. I want to
- 19:15Speaker 2: see what he does on Saturday. Yeah, I want to
- 19:16Speaker 2: see what Cup does as well.
- 19:18Speaker 3: He's had himself a solid season forty seven receptions five
- 19:21Speaker 3: ninety three and two touchdowns.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Week one he had two receptions for fifteen.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Week eighteen a huge two receptions for twenty nine yards.
- 19:29Speaker 2: And then shaheb one of the best in dishes in
- 19:31Speaker 2: football this year.
- 19:32Speaker 3: If we're talking Mariners, he's a Randy Rose ragn A
- 19:34Speaker 3: couple years ago when Josh Marriler Josh Naylor exactly, I
- 19:38Speaker 3: should have went there first.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Honestly.
- 19:40Speaker 3: So far this year, fifteen receptions for one eighty eight,
- 19:43Speaker 3: but he does have two returns for a touchdown Week one,
- 19:45Speaker 3: again San Francisco, he didn't play, he was with the Saints.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Week eighteen, he had one for two and one kick
- 19:50Speaker 3: return for thirty four and two punt returns for thirty
- 19:52Speaker 3: yards a long up nineteen. The forty nine ers are
- 19:55Speaker 3: twenty fifth against the pass, allowing two to thirty two
- 19:57Speaker 3: per game in the regular season. And yall, Diamador Lenoir,
- 20:02Speaker 3: thank you. Even he had spelled it out for me
- 20:04Speaker 3: and I still checked it up first.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Jayson. Another fun matchup. Jayson. The way he does it
- 20:10Speaker 2: is right.
- 20:11Speaker 3: He doesn't really respond during social media, but he gets
- 20:13Speaker 3: on the field and he'll talk to you and then
- 20:14Speaker 3: after the game he makes no big deal of the
- 20:16Speaker 3: whole situation.
- 20:17Speaker 2: That's how you do it. Jason's a pro.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be fun. These are the matchups that
- 20:21Speaker 1: you get your popcorn ready for. We say it, but seriously,
- 20:24Speaker 1: this is an appointment watching television. And then we're gonna
- 20:26Speaker 1: look at the running backs. You know, there's been a
- 20:28Speaker 1: lot of heat on this unit for the Seahawks all
- 20:31Speaker 1: season long, but when you look at that they finished
- 20:33Speaker 1: the year, I mean you would sign up. But if
- 20:35Speaker 1: you told me the numbers I'm about to read to
- 20:37Speaker 1: you all right, at the beginning of the season, I
- 20:38Speaker 1: would sign up for this seven days a week, twice
- 20:41Speaker 1: on Sunday. Seahawks run game was a huge topic of conversation.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Like I said, they finished tenth in rushing this season,
- 20:46Speaker 1: averaging one hundred and twenty three yards per game. I
- 20:48Speaker 1: will take top ten in the NFL and anything all day.
- 20:51Speaker 1: They were twenty eighth in rushing at ninety five yards
- 20:53Speaker 1: per game in twenty twenty four, so a huge eighteen
- 20:55Speaker 1: spots on that. Ken Walker, he gets his one thousand
- 20:58Speaker 1: yard seasons, second thou season of his career, Zach Scharboney
- 21:02Speaker 1: had seven hundred and thirty yards, but he had twelve touchdowns,
- 21:05Speaker 1: becoming this first Seahawks player since Marshawn Lynch to record
- 21:07Speaker 1: double digit rushing touchdowns in a season. The last three
- 21:11Speaker 1: game Seahawks rushed for one hundred and sixty yards three
- 21:13Speaker 1: straight games. Ken Walker week won ten carries twenty yards
- 21:17Speaker 1: three sepster four, so he didn't do a whole lot.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Second week sixteen carries ninety seven yards four for thirty
- 21:23Speaker 1: six so incredibly effective that second time around. Zach Sharbone
- 21:26Speaker 1: twelve carries forty seven yards in a touchdown in Week one,
- 21:29Speaker 1: and then week eighteen seventeen carries for seventy four yards
- 21:32Speaker 1: in one touchdown.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Yeah, these guys are their nice combo. They settled in
- 21:37Speaker 3: to who they are and what this team wants for
- 21:39Speaker 3: them and big upset this offensive line too.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Man.
- 21:41Speaker 3: I know these guys get the love and the credit
- 21:43Speaker 3: as they should. But this offensive line whether the storm
- 21:46Speaker 3: with some injuries and have some guys playing better to
- 21:48Speaker 3: finish the season. So love the combo, love the run.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Game needs to see it again on Saturday.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Yeah, we've gone through the matchups to the players it's
- 21:56Speaker 1: advantaged Seahawks. In my opinion, I think we just laid
- 21:59Speaker 1: that out. But that's why they play the games. That's
- 22:01Speaker 1: why they play the games. But we're gonna tell you
- 22:02Speaker 1: how the seas can get this done.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Path the victory.
- 22:06Speaker 3: After forty five waits for the staff, Michael Dixon puts
- 22:09Speaker 3: it down.
- 22:10Speaker 2: That kick is away. If that kick is gone, good
- 22:13Speaker 2: day of twin.
- 22:15Speaker 1: It's gone.
- 22:15Speaker 2: It's a path to victory. On Hawk Talk, I'll.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Keep saying it because it's worked for the last six
- 22:21Speaker 1: or seven weeks. Coach McDonald said earlier this season, players
- 22:24Speaker 1: had earned the right to expect to win decisive, relentless,
- 22:29Speaker 1: shocking on the road against your arrival.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Last time you took care of business. Yes, sir.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Now you're back at the crib, You're back in Loomingfield
- 22:36Speaker 1: where memories are made. This is what you sign up for.
- 22:39Speaker 1: And I feel good about this team, and it's not
- 22:41Speaker 1: an overconfident thing. I think you hear the players talking
- 22:43Speaker 1: on both sides, and quite frankly, both teams are in
- 22:46Speaker 1: the right to be here. The Niners went on the
- 22:48Speaker 1: road beat the defending Super Bowl champions. They earned the
- 22:50Speaker 1: right to be in this situation. The Seahawks took the
- 22:52Speaker 1: number one seed, went to their house and beat them.
- 22:54Speaker 1: They earned the right to be in this situation, So
- 22:56Speaker 1: I love it. Talk to your stuff both sides. That's
- 22:58Speaker 1: why they play the games. It's gonna be fun thing
- 23:00Speaker 1: on Saturday. But bump for this to go well for
- 23:03Speaker 1: the Seahawks. I want them to start fast, great opening drive.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Last time, they got to be able to catch that
- 23:07Speaker 1: in and on the same token, score touchdowns in the
- 23:09Speaker 1: red zone. Jason Myers, Beer, do your thing. Last time
- 23:13Speaker 1: the Seahawks got down there in the miscoped field goals.
- 23:15Speaker 1: We have all all the confidence in the world that
- 23:17Speaker 1: Jason Myers shake that off. Start fast, score points and
- 23:21Speaker 1: getting you in zone.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Hey, get back on that tea box, shortened the swing,
- 23:23Speaker 3: close the face, and he knows that because he's an excellent,
- 23:27Speaker 3: excellent golfer and you gotta protect your quarterback. Man, they
- 23:30Speaker 3: do not sack the quarterback, then iers just don't do it.
- 23:32Speaker 3: The worse in the NFL at that they don't get
- 23:35Speaker 3: a lot of pressure. Just ran the numbers through you,
- 23:37Speaker 3: and in those moments, Sam needs to shine. There's no pressure.
- 23:41Speaker 3: You see the field. You make the players you're supposed
- 23:43Speaker 3: to make and I believe that he well, I'm confident
- 23:45Speaker 3: in Sam Darling what he brings to the game, especially
- 23:47Speaker 3: once that run game starts scoring, and then you must
- 23:49Speaker 3: stress the field. The Hawks need to hit some big
- 23:51Speaker 3: plays down the field to Jay is Sin. They've done
- 23:53Speaker 3: it for most of the season. Let's keep the good
- 23:55Speaker 3: times rolling. I believe he's tied for the most exposive
- 23:57Speaker 3: plays in the past game with twenty seven of them.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Things.
- 24:00Speaker 1: We need to see that out of Jayson. Yeah, no,
- 24:02Speaker 1: I want to continue to see that for sure. And
- 24:04Speaker 1: run the football. You figured it out kind of. It's
- 24:06Speaker 1: been the whole strife all season long, but you figured
- 24:08Speaker 1: it out going through the line from Across to is
- 24:10Speaker 1: Able to Tundell to Bradford to Abe Lucas. Those guys
- 24:15Speaker 1: are getting done. Run the football. They've been greater over
- 24:17Speaker 1: the last couple of months. And defensively, get after brock Perty.
- 24:20Speaker 1: He will put the ball in jeopardy. He's gonna have
- 24:22Speaker 1: some amazing plays where you go, you know what to
- 24:25Speaker 1: the cap Dogs, nothing new about that. But he's also
- 24:27Speaker 1: gonna take chances. He's gonna put the ball in jeopardy.
- 24:29Speaker 1: When that happens, you need to take the football and
- 24:32Speaker 1: then lockdown McCaffrey. You know it's tough task, Bump. They
- 24:35Speaker 1: shut him down in the last matchup. I can't expect
- 24:38Speaker 1: that again now to that extent, it'd be nice. I
- 24:40Speaker 1: mean I should because how good the dark side is.
- 24:42Speaker 1: I don't e slight them. But Christian McCaffrey's that good
- 24:45Speaker 1: of a player. But he just can't go off. That's
- 24:47Speaker 1: kind of my thing. He just can't go off, Bump.
- 24:48Speaker 1: But it's out there, it's there for the taking. This
- 24:52Speaker 1: matchup is primetime. Loomingfield back feels like it's nineteen or thirteen.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Back House should be a rivalry. Let's get it done.
- 24:59Speaker 3: This is the this is your moment, baby, show up,
- 25:02Speaker 3: do your thing. This is why we play games like this.
- 25:05Speaker 3: You're at home, Looma's gonna be rocking. Let's go one
- 25:08Speaker 3: to zero and move on.
- 25:10Speaker 1: And this is perfect. The Seahawks are playing on Saturday.
- 25:12Speaker 1: If they take care of business, they'll get a rest
- 25:14Speaker 1: day on Sunday. Regardless, me and bumb will be here
- 25:16Speaker 1: on Monday breaking down hopefully a Seahawks victory and advancement
- 25:20Speaker 1: to the NFC Championship Game. Until then, he's Michael bumpus
- 25:23Speaker 1: on NASA Shoby.
- 25:23Speaker 2: This has been hawk talk
