- 0:05Speaker 1: Mean on it.
- 0:08Speaker 2: That's us.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Hi, welcome to book watchers. We're deadnis clinging and
- 0:29Speaker 1: I need more coffee.
- 0:33Speaker 2: You're not even drinking coffee or drinking hot cocoa.
- 0:36Speaker 1: No, it is coffee. It has it's a mixture of
- 0:39Speaker 1: like hot cocoa, some instant coffee, and uh, put some
- 0:43Speaker 1: red candy melts in it because I'm experimenting with making
- 0:46Speaker 1: like a red velvet.
- 0:48Speaker 2: So you're just so, you're just hyped up on sugar
- 0:50Speaker 2: and caffeine right now.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Yeah, you're hyped up.
- 0:55Speaker 2: On sugar and caffeine. Wait till that shit hits.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen. And we at the time of this recording,
- 1:01Speaker 1: we are like less than a week away from Valentine's Day,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and I'm preparing for my very first Valentine's Day with
- 1:08Speaker 1: my partner. And honestly, this is the first Valentine's Day
- 1:12Speaker 1: that I've ever actually celebrated, because I oprate Valentine's Day
- 1:16Speaker 1: at all. I've never had a partner before this past year.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Like I've had a dated people, but they'd never stuck
- 1:22Speaker 1: around long enough to make it to the big V day,
- 1:24Speaker 1: the Valentine's Day, all right, And this is our huh and.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Lo and behold here you are.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yeah, here I am. And this is technically our soft
- 1:38Speaker 1: one year anniversary because uh, February fifteenth of twenty five,
- 1:45Speaker 1: the year of our twenty twenty five was there was
- 1:49Speaker 1: the day we went on our first date together. Oh,
- 1:55Speaker 1: we started messaging each other on the dating app pin, Like,
- 2:01Speaker 1: we started messing each other in January. It was kind
- 2:03Speaker 1: of like a little bit off and on, and then
- 2:06Speaker 1: we agreed to go on our first date together. And
- 2:09Speaker 1: we said it for like the day after Valentine's Day,
- 2:14Speaker 1: and I was only talking to him. I didn't really
- 2:17Speaker 1: I wasn't sure if it would be like like would
- 2:20Speaker 1: it be too weird too forward to ask him on
- 2:21Speaker 1: a date on Valentine's Day? Like and also at the time,
- 2:24Speaker 1: like I was like, nah, I don't think it'd be
- 2:26Speaker 1: right because we're literally this is literally our first date,
- 2:29Speaker 1: Like why would. I don't want to like put too
- 2:31Speaker 1: much pressure on us for like Valentine's So we went
- 2:35Speaker 1: on our first date then, and now here we are
- 2:40Speaker 1: a year later and we're celebrating Valentine's Day together and
- 2:46Speaker 1: I'm excited.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I say, gross, hold hardly because I literally have a
- 2:53Speaker 2: boo as well. So I mean I can't come. I
- 2:56Speaker 2: can't say shit, I can't say shut, but we I mean,
- 3:02Speaker 2: going going place on Valentine's Day is so just no.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Everything's packed too many people.
- 3:10Speaker 1: We're not even going out on down Sun's say we're going.
- 3:13Speaker 1: He's making He's making dinner for us. I'm making a
- 3:16Speaker 1: sweet treat for us. Got I got him several gifts already.
- 3:19Speaker 1: So we're not even gonna go out like work, we're
- 3:22Speaker 1: not even work bother with that work.
- 3:25Speaker 2: The most I'm dooings I might be going to the
- 3:27Speaker 2: movie theater.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Oh and before I forget so, yes, I am going
- 3:33Speaker 1: to be busy for the next couple of weekends because
- 3:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna be doing a screen marathon with Alex next weekend, ladies.
- 3:45Speaker 2: And gentlemen others. I haven't seen my best friend almost
- 3:47Speaker 2: a month, and this.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Bucker keeps hiding to wait. How dare you.
- 3:54Speaker 1: H Yes?
- 3:59Speaker 4: It is.
- 4:00Speaker 1: It is indeed a struggle, and I am truly sorry.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I wonder I'm going to contact I'm gonna contact your boyfriend,
- 4:07Speaker 2: be like, can you can you unlatch your man from
- 4:12Speaker 2: you for like four hours?
- 4:16Speaker 1: Mm?
- 4:16Speaker 2: Hm, just unlatch him for four hours given to me.
- 4:25Speaker 1: No, he already played me for the rest of the month.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Bitch.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Also at the end of the month going out of town, So.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Where to.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Dallas?
- 4:38Speaker 3: Fucking cun.
- 4:41Speaker 1: What I'm gonna like. You're not the only one who
- 4:43Speaker 1: I haven't seen in a long time. I haven't seen
- 4:45Speaker 1: my dad in almost the years, so I'm probably gonna
- 4:46Speaker 1: go see him.
- 4:47Speaker 3: At the end of the month, now, father, mm hmm,
- 4:58Speaker 3: don't tell me.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I I will argue fathers.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Eh, yeah, ladies and gentlemen, we do not have the
- 5:07Speaker 1: best relationship with our fathers.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I'm still trying to think. My mom asked me, there's
- 5:11Speaker 2: goett a little tangent. My mom asked me when we
- 5:14Speaker 2: go down to Disney in Orlando for June, She's like,
- 5:18Speaker 2: are you gonna see your father? And I'm like, I don't, no,
- 5:25Speaker 2: I don't know. Why would I want to do?
- 5:29Speaker 1: So?
- 5:29Speaker 2: Now I'm just like, do I don't?
- 5:30Speaker 4: I know?
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yes, probably not. Honestly, it's probably gonna be in now
- 5:36Speaker 2: because he has passed the Disney World, so he can
- 5:37Speaker 2: always made this Disney World. But I don't know if
- 5:41Speaker 2: I'm going to probably not. I need I don't need
- 5:45Speaker 2: that man be cause problems for my Big Kate first
- 5:49Speaker 2: vacation did like twenty years fathers fuck them, not literally,
- 6:00Speaker 2: but like figuratively. If you're looking at the script from below,
- 6:05Speaker 2: you'll see a link to a link tree. They'll take
- 6:07Speaker 2: it to the other podcast of the other podcast family
- 6:09Speaker 2: productions of podcast Wow Terrible unlike our dads, me as
- 6:16Speaker 2: a pop pap for this podcast.
- 6:18Speaker 1: You're so good. I'm a good pa pa.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Patreon below, go subscribe. I still do not know, and
- 6:31Speaker 2: this will be the first episode for the video component.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I still do not know if I want to put
- 6:36Speaker 2: it on YouTube or if I won't put it on
- 6:39Speaker 2: just a Patreon. I don't know. I don't know where
- 6:44Speaker 2: I want to put it because I'm like, it makes
- 6:46Speaker 2: sense to put it on the patreot, but it also
- 6:50Speaker 2: makes sense to put it on YouTube. And let's that
- 6:52Speaker 2: do like where it's like part of it put it
- 6:57Speaker 2: on YouTube, part of it's the video feel like the
- 7:00Speaker 2: first five ten minutes video and then cuts to just
- 7:04Speaker 2: the audio you see the rest of you on the
- 7:05Speaker 2: Patreon or what. I don't know. I don't know. I'll
- 7:07Speaker 2: figure it out. I got I got a month. When
- 7:09Speaker 2: the substu comes out, I'll figure it out. We'll figure
- 7:12Speaker 2: it out. I don't know what I want to do,
- 7:18Speaker 2: the logistics of it all, even though no one's on
- 7:20Speaker 2: the Patreon yet. But still, but still, I do have
- 7:26Speaker 2: this like I don't care.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I'm just the talent I don't make.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Well, yes, you have to say in these decisions too,
- 7:35Speaker 2: So I mean this is your show as well. I
- 7:39Speaker 2: just personally don't know where to put it. Yeah, but
- 7:43Speaker 2: it got time to figure it out.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I feel like Patreon like needs mores. Yeah, we need
- 7:53Speaker 1: more stuff. We need to do more stuff to get
- 7:56Speaker 1: more people interested in like paying for Patreon.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, because I'm still in the process of avoiding
- 8:02Speaker 2: old episodes, and of course the new episodes go up
- 8:05Speaker 2: every week, so you got quite a bit there, y'all.
- 8:09Speaker 2: But as far as new exclusive content for Patreon, that's
- 8:18Speaker 2: no word. I need to get with since Tim has
- 8:21Speaker 2: free time now on after seven and on some of
- 8:27Speaker 2: the weekend, I need to get with her and be
- 8:30Speaker 2: like girl, what girl? What do we do?
- 8:33Speaker 1: Anyway?
- 8:33Speaker 2: Oh, that will be a description below. Patreon goes subscribe,
- 8:36Speaker 2: Please go subscribe. I will I will kill your mother. No,
- 8:41Speaker 2: if you won't, I will kill your mother.
- 8:45Speaker 1: He might he may get a he may get a
- 8:47Speaker 1: certain sex all had to.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Do it but.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Wrong book? Wait, she hasn't come out?
- 8:54Speaker 3: What books she come in? Three?
- 8:56Speaker 1: No?
- 8:57Speaker 2: Four?
- 8:57Speaker 1: Oops? Wait, that's before.
- 9:02Speaker 3: We ke oops, so.
- 9:10Speaker 1: That that particular character, not to spoil it any further,
- 9:12Speaker 1: does not appear until the next book Gay to the
- 9:15Speaker 1: Parrel Gods. But that's not what we're talking about today.
- 9:18Speaker 1: We're talking about book three of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series,
- 9:23Speaker 1: the Dungeon Anarchy. And if you're like me who has
- 9:27Speaker 1: the Ace Publisher hardcover editions, you got something that looks
- 9:32Speaker 1: like this. Okay, Now, these editions personally are my favorite.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I love it. I love them, you know. It's it's
- 9:40Speaker 1: so satisfying having a nice hardcover book, you know. And
- 9:42Speaker 1: also if you take off the cover, if you take
- 9:45Speaker 1: off the cover, each of the Ace of the Ace
- 9:48Speaker 1: editions have like a neat little logo on them. So
- 9:51Speaker 1: this one has the Anarchy logo. Literally, like they all
- 9:55Speaker 1: have something different, and they're all like either pretty cool
- 9:57Speaker 1: or they're funny, like Book seven's hardcover book had literally
- 10:02Speaker 1: says fuck the cheese sticks.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Period. I don't know what that is yet, what that
- 10:07Speaker 2: means yet, but period.
- 10:09Speaker 1: It's relevant to the story. For the seventh book, it's funny.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I love it. And just like with every Ace Publisher
- 10:17Speaker 1: hardcover edition that we've reviewed, this book also comes with
- 10:21Speaker 1: an extra little you haven't cut off my struggle. Each
- 10:31Speaker 1: of these hardcover editions also come with a little extra
- 10:35Speaker 1: at the end of the book called Backstage at the
- 10:38Speaker 1: Pineapple Cabaret.
- 10:39Speaker 2: I can read those because Johnny has all the books.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Yep, so sorry, I was I was on the wrong page,
- 10:46Speaker 1: so everybody. So each of the hardcover editions come with
- 10:50Speaker 1: a little extra, short special called Backstage as a Pineapple Cabaret,
- 10:55Speaker 1: and each one is each one is with a end.
- 11:00Speaker 1: It's from the perspective of an NPC that we do
- 11:02Speaker 1: encounter sometime in the book that we're reading. So like,
- 11:07Speaker 1: for example, in the very first book, it's from the
- 11:09Speaker 1: perspective of one of the Goblin shaman priestesses that Carl
- 11:13Speaker 1: and Donut encounter. Her name is Rory. And this one
- 11:18Speaker 1: there is a character named Growler Gary. Growler Gar the
- 11:21Speaker 1: NBC Growler Gary is It's kind of depressing, but he's
- 11:27Speaker 1: also kind of funny. It's depressing in that like it's funny,
- 11:31Speaker 1: but you kind of feel like a piece of shit
- 11:33Speaker 1: because you're that you're laughing about it, but you still
- 11:35Speaker 1: laugh anyway. Kind of deal.
- 11:37Speaker 2: But we'll do a whole episode on all those extras
- 11:41Speaker 2: in the seven or eight books by the time we
- 11:44Speaker 2: finish out this thing. But I'm happy I can actually
- 11:48Speaker 2: read it now because I have all that. I have
- 11:50Speaker 2: access to all the hardbacks now.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Yes, his his boyfriend got into reading them and after
- 11:56Speaker 1: reading the first one, he immediately bought the rest and
- 12:00Speaker 1: pretty much what I did, because as soon as I
- 12:01Speaker 1: read the first one, I was like, I gotta keep
- 12:03Speaker 1: reading these this.
- 12:04Speaker 2: We're supplying so much money to to Ace, to the
- 12:10Speaker 2: writer of Dungeon of the Dune Color Carl, because we're
- 12:13Speaker 2: buying the e book. We are buying all the e
- 12:16Speaker 2: books when they come out where he is, I'm getting
- 12:19Speaker 2: the audiobooks, and now we have the physical copies. And
- 12:21Speaker 2: then and of course when they released the comic book,
- 12:23Speaker 2: we're gonna I'm gonna get the comic book or the
- 12:26Speaker 2: websoone when they release it physically.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Which they're also gonna They're also coming up with an RPG, like.
- 12:32Speaker 2: RPG I want it, oh hell yeah, because I want
- 12:38Speaker 2: I want to make an unhinged, a I just worse.
- 12:42Speaker 5: Hyeah m hmm. Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be It's gonna
- 12:47Speaker 5: be there in this one. Oh yeah, it's it. He
- 12:52Speaker 5: decides to go a little.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Unhandession with Carl's feet. Oh yeah, this is the one that.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's been pretty much going on since
- 13:04Speaker 1: the first book. But see, here's the thing. As as
- 13:07Speaker 1: you go deeper into the dungeon, the AI begins to
- 13:10Speaker 1: go begins to experience a phenomenon that the Aliens and
- 13:13Speaker 1: the Syndicate referred to as going primal. That's when the
- 13:17Speaker 1: AI becomes fully self aware, becomes more unhinged and more uncontrollable.
- 13:21Speaker 1: And the deeper into the dungeon that you get, the
- 13:25Speaker 1: worst it gets. The worst the more that the AI
- 13:29Speaker 1: like refuses to like comply with the syndicates orders, and
- 13:33Speaker 1: the more it takes control. And there comes a point
- 13:36Speaker 1: where they completely lose control of the dungeon and it's
- 13:39Speaker 1: all like it's all planned for, like they expect this
- 13:43Speaker 1: to happen. And by the end of the dungeon, when
- 13:45Speaker 1: all the crawlers are either dead or have taken have
- 13:48Speaker 1: taken like sponsorships to leave the dungeon early like by
- 13:53Speaker 1: that point it's like, Okay, well we got what we
- 13:56Speaker 1: wanted out of it. You can the dungeon is yours
- 13:58Speaker 1: to do whatever you want with now. But the thing
- 14:03Speaker 1: is one thing that the Syndicate notes in this series,
- 14:06Speaker 1: just a little bit of a spoiler, is that the
- 14:08Speaker 1: is that the AI is beginning to go primal a
- 14:11Speaker 1: lot sooner. Yeah, it goes primal pretty early. In fact,
- 14:16Speaker 1: by the time we get to book six, it's already
- 14:19Speaker 1: gone primal, like book five is pretty much is like
- 14:22Speaker 1: the tipping point of when it's like fully primal, fully primal,
- 14:27Speaker 1: and the Syndicate has already like lost complete control. Cinecate
- 14:32Speaker 1: like like mainly the Boring Company, which is the corporation
- 14:36Speaker 1: that is running this season of Dungeon Crawler Carl, they
- 14:39Speaker 1: cut a lot of corners just to get this season
- 14:42Speaker 1: running a lot sooner than than was expected. Because the
- 14:46Speaker 1: Boring Company, and by sension, the their race in general,
- 14:50Speaker 1: their whole like government. This is for the the coopit
- 14:58Speaker 1: the Quatin, that's what they're called. I can keep wanting
- 15:00Speaker 1: to call the mud skippers, but mud skippers is a slur.
- 15:05Speaker 1: It's a slur, So I keep up. I mean honestly,
- 15:08Speaker 1: I mean, I mean fuck them because they're pretty they're
- 15:10Speaker 1: they're eugenicists, like their government is run by like a
- 15:13Speaker 1: whole like Nazi style eugenicis uh party like eugenics party,
- 15:18Speaker 1: and uh pretty much, and there's very few of them
- 15:21Speaker 1: that are like not e someone's calling me?
- 15:30Speaker 2: Who who's calling you? Gross?
- 15:37Speaker 3: H yeah.
- 15:42Speaker 2: You cross.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Anyway that distrusts me anyway, So pretty much the only
- 15:51Speaker 1: one of the quats in that is not uh, like
- 15:54Speaker 1: you know, very like who's not very who's not full
- 15:59Speaker 1: of like fully conforming to the to the quants in
- 16:02Speaker 1: like eugenics believes of self superiority and like special supremacy.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Is Zev who is Carl and Donuts manager period and
- 16:11Speaker 1: and and and representative of the quats in for the
- 16:15Speaker 1: for the quats in uh. Now. The thing is is
- 16:19Speaker 1: that they were their whole company and their whole system
- 16:22Speaker 1: was going to go bankrupt and they and most of
- 16:25Speaker 1: their debts were to another corporation called the Vaulta Corporation.
- 16:28Speaker 1: And the Vaulta are The Vaulta are a race of
- 16:32Speaker 1: these like worm like parasites that take on living hosts
- 16:37Speaker 1: and uh were we mentioned them briefly in the last
- 16:40Speaker 1: book because during a because during a interview between Carl
- 16:44Speaker 1: and several other crawlers and others like syndicate, like important
- 16:48Speaker 1: people from the Syndicate, the Skull Empire tried to assassinate
- 16:53Speaker 1: Karl by blowing up the trailer he was in. The
- 16:55Speaker 1: thing is, for security reasons, Carl and Donuts trailer was
- 16:59Speaker 1: swap with another one of the other alien representatives at NAGA,
- 17:04Speaker 1: who's like a supposed to be like a pretty famous
- 17:07Speaker 1: singer kind of think like Lady Gaga, but if Lady
- 17:10Speaker 1: Gaga was like a snake alien, yeah, kind of creature. Uh.
- 17:13Speaker 1: They ended up killing her instead. And the thing is
- 17:15Speaker 1: is that she technically was already dead, but when she
- 17:18Speaker 1: was still alive quote unquote, she made a deal with
- 17:21Speaker 1: the Valsay Corporation that upon her death, her body would
- 17:24Speaker 1: be given over to them and they would implant one
- 17:26Speaker 1: of their symbiotes into her body, who would then resurrect
- 17:30Speaker 1: it and she would still she would be alive, but
- 17:33Speaker 1: now completely under the control of the VAULTSA which apparently
- 17:38Speaker 1: it's like it's a Apparently it's very common. A lot
- 17:40Speaker 1: of people take these kind of deals. The Vaaltay pay
- 17:42Speaker 1: a lot of money, so and so as soon as
- 17:45Speaker 1: you died, then they got They basically can use your
- 17:48Speaker 1: body as a host for one of their for one
- 17:50Speaker 1: of their worms. But uh so, the Valty Corporation is
- 17:54Speaker 1: was literally on the verge of completely repossessing the entire system,
- 17:58Speaker 1: borant system, the quats In like taking over everything. And
- 18:02Speaker 1: the quats In started the Dungeon crawl early as a
- 18:07Speaker 1: bit of as like a huge cash grap so that
- 18:10Speaker 1: way they can like bring in all the money as
- 18:12Speaker 1: well as like pay off as much of their debts
- 18:14Speaker 1: as possible. But the thing is is that they were
- 18:17Speaker 1: only able to stall the Vaulta for They're only able
- 18:19Speaker 1: to stall the Volta for so long and throughout the books,
- 18:23Speaker 1: I believe up until like I believe like this is
- 18:25Speaker 1: by the end of this book, I will say the
- 18:27Speaker 1: Vaultay do take over completely because the quats In, Like
- 18:32Speaker 1: the thing is, the quats In are we're also on
- 18:35Speaker 1: the verge of civil war because the the ruling party,
- 18:41Speaker 1: who are the Eugenics they were not very popular. They're controlling,
- 18:47Speaker 1: they they take they take control of everything. Well actually no,
- 18:51Speaker 1: I'm sorry, rewind. By the end of this like the
- 18:55Speaker 1: Eugenics Party is like taking control of everything they're wanting.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Like they're very strict on how the Boran Comfort Corporation
- 19:03Speaker 1: is running the show. The thing is they cut corners,
- 19:06Speaker 1: all right. They used an AI that was basically a
- 19:09Speaker 1: copy of another AI from a previous show. So this
- 19:12Speaker 1: is a secondhand AI. It's not a it's not a
- 19:15Speaker 1: like fresh new Primal AI. That was that that they
- 19:19Speaker 1: got straight from the Mancids, because the Mantids are the
- 19:23Speaker 1: ones who literally mine for the AIS, like the ais
- 19:26Speaker 1: were already like pre built by the primal by this
- 19:30Speaker 1: primal alien race, and thing is there. Those people disappeared
- 19:35Speaker 1: and all that's left is their technology and the Mandids
- 19:38Speaker 1: found on one of the planets they control like literally
- 19:43Speaker 1: like like literally the hidden beneath the planet is a
- 19:47Speaker 1: gold mine of these AI and they're literally mining for it.
- 19:50Speaker 1: So as they mine for it, they pull up a
- 19:52Speaker 1: new they find, they discover a new AI, and they
- 19:54Speaker 1: implant that AI in the world engines that are in
- 19:57Speaker 1: the that are in like certain planets across the system,
- 20:01Speaker 1: and these are the planets that are that are typically
- 20:03Speaker 1: chosen for the dungeon crawls. So Earth was one of
- 20:08Speaker 1: those planets. There was like some sort of world engine,
- 20:11Speaker 1: like a seed in our planet. They implanted the AI
- 20:13Speaker 1: in there, created the dungeon whe like pretty much wipe
- 20:18Speaker 1: the surface clean of all like you know, human structures,
- 20:21Speaker 1: and any survivors that weren't inside gets sent down into
- 20:24Speaker 1: the dungeon.
- 20:25Speaker 3: So there's a.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Lot of like politics, it's politicking, Okay, there's a lot
- 20:30Speaker 1: of backstory for like the like the origin of the dungeons,
- 20:35Speaker 1: the technology that is used to make the dungeon, the
- 20:38Speaker 1: AI itself. The AI is not created by the Syndicate
- 20:40Speaker 1: but by the primal race. So now, like there's gonna
- 20:47Speaker 1: be a lot going There's gonna be a lot going on,
- 20:50Speaker 1: all right. So for the book, the word that we're
- 20:54Speaker 1: reading right now, where I gotta keep saying, I'm to
- 20:56Speaker 1: keep saying it to myself because we're on book three
- 20:59Speaker 1: and we're on level book three of the I'm like,
- 21:04Speaker 1: I guess I'm having a stroke because I'm losing like
- 21:07Speaker 1: I can't talk right now, So we are to keep
- 21:10Speaker 1: reminding myself. This is book three, Floor four, Floor four,
- 21:18Speaker 1: and this this is the second of the themed floors.
- 21:22Speaker 1: The first two floors were the tutorial floors. The third
- 21:25Speaker 1: floor was the first of the theme floor. So the
- 21:27Speaker 1: first one was like the Circus, like it's kind of
- 21:30Speaker 1: like the it was like the over City. This is
- 21:32Speaker 1: where like you know, the city that's above Loroccos and
- 21:36Speaker 1: hunting Grounds, and this book is now it's not related
- 21:42Speaker 1: to the Scolopendra arc, which is what the over City,
- 21:46Speaker 1: Hunting Grounds and Moroccos is related to. So this is
- 21:50Speaker 1: more of like an in between themed level. So it's
- 21:53Speaker 1: called the Iron Tangle. It takes place. The level itself
- 21:57Speaker 1: is a complex really like weirdly stight subway system, so
- 22:06Speaker 1: it's all like there their five the crawlers all appear
- 22:10Speaker 1: once they come down into the fourth floor. They appear
- 22:12Speaker 1: on like subway platforms and and of course the platforms themselves,
- 22:18Speaker 1: depending on where they are in the Iron Tangle, will
- 22:21Speaker 1: either have like a bunch of like grizzly monsters or
- 22:24Speaker 1: maybe considered safe zones. They may find like entrances to
- 22:27Speaker 1: like the Desperado Club, the Club Valor. There's there's two
- 22:34Speaker 1: main clubs that the crawlers have access to, and depending
- 22:37Speaker 1: on like the kind of things that you do in
- 22:40Speaker 1: the that you do throughout the crawl determines if you're
- 22:43Speaker 1: going to get invited to one or the other if
- 22:45Speaker 1: you're a cleric, or you play like a paladin or
- 22:47Speaker 1: do like stuff like very silf righteous set's very like
- 22:50Speaker 1: deity related. The Club Valor is where you would get
- 22:54Speaker 1: invited to. Now the Desperado Club is pretty much for
- 22:57Speaker 1: the rest. If you do like if you do like
- 22:59Speaker 1: shape shit or like something that's like more anarch like,
- 23:03Speaker 1: uh like more anarchists like, then you're definitely gonna get
- 23:08Speaker 1: really uh invited to the Desperado Club. And this book
- 23:13Speaker 1: is when I think it was in this book that
- 23:15Speaker 1: they first enter the the Desperado Club because in the
- 23:19Speaker 1: third book they heard about it, they actually got their
- 23:21Speaker 1: invitations to it, but they never actually find it.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think this is the first book that
- 23:28Speaker 2: they actually go inside of it.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Yeah. But so the story like, now are our main
- 23:38Speaker 1: crawlers Carl of course Donut and they're joined by Donuts,
- 23:42Speaker 1: Pet Mango as well as their new as their new
- 23:46Speaker 1: member Katia.
- 23:47Speaker 4: Uh.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Now, Katia was introduced in the third book. She was
- 23:52Speaker 1: a timid crawler. She was very little leveled and what
- 23:57Speaker 1: this is book three, So that was book watchers. Y'all
- 24:05Speaker 1: have a great day. Catch us next week. We're gonna
- 24:07Speaker 1: be doing something else, so I'm just gonna check out.
- 24:13Speaker 2: She was this book.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Kancia was introduced in book two on level three. She
- 24:21Speaker 1: was very She was a very timid and low level crawler.
- 24:25Speaker 1: She was actually a part of another party led by
- 24:29Speaker 1: this really badass lady uh named Hecla. Her. Her party
- 24:33Speaker 1: calls themselves the Brunehild's Daughters, and like they're a really
- 24:39Speaker 1: badass group of like Amazonian crawlers, and we're gonna get
- 24:43Speaker 1: We're actually gonna see that group in this book. And
- 24:48Speaker 1: there's there's a lot of tea, there's drama.
- 24:53Speaker 2: The girls are fighting, uh.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Literally girls girls a fighting, okay, and for once, it's
- 25:01Speaker 1: not over a man.
- 25:03Speaker 2: No, it's over a woman.
- 25:05Speaker 1: M cat, it's over a cat, a cat, but girls
- 25:10Speaker 1: are fighting and it's then they're fighting over a cat. Yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 1: So so throughout level three and this and level four,
- 25:20Speaker 1: Carl actually helps Katia to Carl and Mordecai help Katia
- 25:26Speaker 1: by helping her like grind and level up to catch
- 25:29Speaker 1: up to their levels because she because when they first
- 25:32Speaker 1: encountered her on level three, they realized that already, like
- 25:36Speaker 1: Carl and Donut, we're close to like we're almost in
- 25:39Speaker 1: the level twenties, and she was still like like level
- 25:44Speaker 1: like twelve, so she was still very low leveled for
- 25:48Speaker 1: her for that floor. And also she kind of got
- 25:52Speaker 1: screwed over by her tutorial by her tutorial guide because
- 25:57Speaker 1: she had a different tatorial guide than what Carl and
- 25:59Speaker 1: Donut had, uh, and he convinced her toial guide, convinced
- 26:03Speaker 1: her that taking on the uh doppelganger. Uh wait, you
- 26:08Speaker 1: know what does she have is the it is the dope.
- 26:15Speaker 1: There's yeah, she's a doppelganger because there's there's several different
- 26:18Speaker 1: shape shifting classes. There's the actual like changelings, so they
- 26:23Speaker 1: can they can like change they're like mystique. They can
- 26:26Speaker 1: change into any like uh, they can change into any
- 26:29Speaker 1: character anything they've touched. Right, Well, Doppelgangers they're like they
- 26:34Speaker 1: can shape shift, but it's more of like they're like
- 26:37Speaker 1: they're like living clay. They literally have to like consciously
- 26:40Speaker 1: mold themselves into the shape they want, and they can
- 26:43Speaker 1: also like take on extra mass into their bodies. So
- 26:47Speaker 1: it's a little gimmick that Katia learns how to use
- 26:52Speaker 1: and Carl figures out like a cool little cheat for
- 26:55Speaker 1: her to use. So that way she can add mass
- 26:57Speaker 1: to herself to like buff her stats make her her
- 27:00Speaker 1: armor class higher and like she has a ridiculously high
- 27:04Speaker 1: constitution already, so she's pretty tough. But the thing is
- 27:07Speaker 1: is that she doesn't really know how to use her class.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Mordecai helps her learn how to use her class and
- 27:13Speaker 1: actually helps her, helps teach her how to like shape
- 27:16Speaker 1: her shuh shape her body to be much more closer
- 27:21Speaker 1: to what she originally used to look like, because when
- 27:24Speaker 1: Karl and Dunna at first met her, she looked very
- 27:27Speaker 1: like misshapen like, she still looked like a person, but
- 27:30Speaker 1: it looked like a person that was like molded by
- 27:33Speaker 1: a child, like a child. So Mordecai helps her, Carl
- 27:38Speaker 1: helps her, and like, throughout this book we really see
- 27:41Speaker 1: her growing to herself. We really see her become more confident.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Carl builds her like a special backpack where she can
- 27:46Speaker 1: store extra mass, like like metal armor plates things like that.
- 27:51Speaker 1: So when she like puts on the backpack and lifts
- 27:53Speaker 1: it up her body like takes it into herself and
- 27:56Speaker 1: she's able to like it increases her mass, makes her bigger,
- 27:59Speaker 1: and also like the metal parts because they come part
- 28:01Speaker 1: of her body. They really increase her armor like her
- 28:05Speaker 1: armor class, and they use her doppelganger abilities much more
- 28:09Speaker 1: effectively in this level, and she also gets a lot
- 28:13Speaker 1: of really cool perks as she starts to level up.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Now since they're on floor Since they're now on level four,
- 28:22Speaker 1: they have ten days to find to find a stairwell,
- 28:25Speaker 1: and once they find the stairwells, they need to work
- 28:28Speaker 1: on surviving. Now there's a there's a bit of a
- 28:31Speaker 1: gimmick for finding the stairwells because as they go throughout
- 28:36Speaker 1: the Iron Tangle, they realize that, yeah, there's different like
- 28:40Speaker 1: there's different lines for the different subway tracks, and there's
- 28:44Speaker 1: different platforms. But they realize that this that they're actually
- 28:47Speaker 1: layers upon layers of this Iron Tangle. So even though
- 28:51Speaker 1: Carl and Donut had had made sure to like meet
- 28:55Speaker 1: as many crawlers as possible from the third level, they
- 28:59Speaker 1: and because you can only message crawlers that you've met
- 29:02Speaker 1: and like this bumped you know, physical contact with to
- 29:06Speaker 1: like connect with UH, so they made sure to like
- 29:09Speaker 1: message like to like fist bump as many crawlers as possible,
- 29:13Speaker 1: and if every time they encounter new crawlers, they do
- 29:15Speaker 1: the same thing because they're trying to build this communication network.
- 29:18Speaker 1: And as they're as they're speaking to the different crawlers,
- 29:22Speaker 1: they're noticing that, like, despite the fact that they're multiple
- 29:25Speaker 1: crawlers saying they've been there at or they've been on
- 29:28Speaker 1: certain platforms at the same time, they don't encounter each other.
- 29:32Speaker 1: So it starts to hint that Carl starts to realize
- 29:35Speaker 1: that the Iron Tangle may have multiple different levels or
- 29:40Speaker 1: layers so the lab making the labyrinth more complex. So
- 29:46Speaker 1: so as they are exploring, so as they're exploring the uh,
- 29:51Speaker 1: the Iron Tangle, they're trying to create a more detailed
- 29:55Speaker 1: map of it. They encounter more like they start encountering
- 29:59Speaker 1: more like new monsters, like they encounter the they encounter
- 30:03Speaker 1: the conductors of the subway trains, because the subway trains,
- 30:07Speaker 1: for the most part, look like actual subway trains, but
- 30:09Speaker 1: some of the subway trains, some of the subway lines
- 30:12Speaker 1: have like unique themes to them, like one is like
- 30:16Speaker 1: the Nightmare Express. One is called literally called the Nightmare Express,
- 30:20Speaker 1: and that one ends up locking them into a quest
- 30:23Speaker 1: when they get on it. They encounter the conductors of
- 30:28Speaker 1: the of these trains who are they're called man tars.
- 30:32Speaker 1: They're literally it's like a person on a person. Yeah,
- 30:38Speaker 1: that makes sense, centaur shapes, where like they have the
- 30:41Speaker 1: body of the horse and where the head of the
- 30:43Speaker 1: horse is supposed to be the human torso, like the
- 30:46Speaker 1: upper torso of a human is well, imagine the entire
- 30:50Speaker 1: body of a normal human right like legs, arms, torso
- 30:54Speaker 1: where the shoulders meet the neck is just another like
- 30:58Speaker 1: upper torso extending upward to like the rest of the body.
- 31:01Speaker 1: So it's kind of weird.
- 31:03Speaker 2: It's kind of weird looking, kind of like human cinnipedeish. Yeah,
- 31:09Speaker 2: not the movie, but like torso torso other arms. It's
- 31:14Speaker 2: very yeah, creepy ling that doesn't go there, yep.
- 31:25Speaker 1: And the thing is that they're noticing as they are,
- 31:28Speaker 1: as they're navigating through the iron Tangle, they are encountering
- 31:32Speaker 1: more and more mobs, like the mob seems to be
- 31:35Speaker 1: like the sheer frequency of these mobs appearing is increasing,
- 31:40Speaker 1: and they learn it's because of these special kind of
- 31:43Speaker 1: mob generators. So like the mob, they start as the
- 31:47Speaker 1: like as the days go by, as they are grinding
- 31:50Speaker 1: and looking for the stairways, they the mob. The amount,
- 31:53Speaker 1: the just sheer volume of mobs are increasing, and they
- 31:57Speaker 1: realize that there are certain areas within the iron tangle,
- 31:59Speaker 1: like kind of like brooms, right, like you know, like
- 32:02Speaker 1: employee only entrances, things like that, that's where the mobs
- 32:05Speaker 1: are coming from. And they find like the generators that
- 32:07Speaker 1: the mobs are being produced from, and they learn quickly
- 32:10Speaker 1: that if they destroy them, then they can stem the
- 32:12Speaker 1: flow of mobs that are appearing. So they start they
- 32:15Speaker 1: start spreading the words to other crawlers, telling them to
- 32:18Speaker 1: like telling them exactly how to find these generators and
- 32:21Speaker 1: try to kill them as possible. They have their very
- 32:24Speaker 1: first encounter with a specific type of mob called a.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Crack Hearen, not the crack Haaren.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Yep, the crack hearn. Yeah, so the crack Hearen is
- 32:38Speaker 1: like it's kind of like a secret floor kind of deal.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Uh So, crack haaren like are based off of the
- 32:44Speaker 1: crack Heron is based off of a real galactic species
- 32:49Speaker 1: called the apocacy, the apothecary. The apothecary so like they yeah,
- 32:56Speaker 1: the apothecary is responsible for like distributing, for producing and
- 33:00Speaker 1: distributing the pharmaceuticals throughout the syndicate, right, And the thing
- 33:05Speaker 1: is they are run by the species that the Kirkaren
- 33:08Speaker 1: is based off of, So they are a hive mind race,
- 33:12Speaker 1: and there's a lot of conspiracy and a lot of
- 33:14Speaker 1: like superstition behind them because everyone, like the greater part
- 33:19Speaker 1: of the Syneicate believes that the kirk Karen is that
- 33:21Speaker 1: the apothecacar, the apothecary is trying to like assimilate everything
- 33:26Speaker 1: into their hive mind. So they're like they rely on
- 33:30Speaker 1: their drugs, but they're hesitant to like let them fully
- 33:32Speaker 1: integrate with their society or like include them in society
- 33:37Speaker 1: Ah's And the thing is, it's that part of the
- 33:48Speaker 1: the thing is that the Krekaren has been just the
- 33:51Speaker 1: kirkerin that they encounter are like they're multiple like different
- 33:54Speaker 1: Circarens throughout the Iron Tangle and their boss mobs, and
- 33:59Speaker 1: they are What they're actually doing is they're distributing a
- 34:02Speaker 1: drug to the other, to the other mobs. And the
- 34:08Speaker 1: thing is, as Carl and the rest of the crawlers
- 34:10Speaker 1: are killing the mob district as they're destroying the mob generators,
- 34:15Speaker 1: and they're also killing the Crockerns. The Crockaerns are no
- 34:18Speaker 1: longer around to distribute the drugs to the other mobs. So,
- 34:23Speaker 1: because the mobs are not getting their daily dosage of
- 34:27Speaker 1: crack of crack pretty much dungeon crack, Uh, they begin
- 34:32Speaker 1: to mutate into they go through withdrawal, and this withdrawal
- 34:35Speaker 1: causes mutations that make them more deadly and virtually unkillable.
- 34:41Speaker 1: So now they realize that they're racing against the clock
- 34:43Speaker 1: because the more if they the more that if they
- 34:46Speaker 1: don't destroy as many of these generators as possible to
- 34:49Speaker 1: stem the flow of the mobs coming through, Uh, they're
- 34:53Speaker 1: gonna have more and more like just cracked out mobs
- 34:57Speaker 1: that are going through withdrawal.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Yeah, they're gonna be find they are, they're.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Gonna be fucked. Uh Now as they deal so they're
- 35:09Speaker 1: dealing with a lot of this stuff. They are. As
- 35:13Speaker 1: they're dealing with a lot of this stuff, you know,
- 35:14Speaker 1: they're leveling up, they're destroying, they're killing monsters, They're they're
- 35:17Speaker 1: mapping the iron tangle as much as possible. And as
- 35:20Speaker 1: they're going through, the monsters are getting steadily worse because
- 35:23Speaker 1: of the withdrawal, And they're also starting to encounter other
- 35:27Speaker 1: mobs that that are now starting to like appear in
- 35:30Speaker 1: lieu of like uh, the other boss mobs that they killed,
- 35:33Speaker 1: like the kra Karens and the Pukahs and m h,
- 35:41Speaker 1: it's a mess.
- 35:43Speaker 2: It's a hot ass mess chaos.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Yeah. At one point, Carl and Donnut actually do complete
- 35:53Speaker 1: the Nightmare Express mission quests and they managed they pretty
- 35:58Speaker 1: much destroyed the train, but they actually take over. They
- 36:00Speaker 1: actually take over the train because it turns out they
- 36:04Speaker 1: find a way they find like the back rooms, like
- 36:07Speaker 1: the tracks, that they find the part of the tracks
- 36:09Speaker 1: that allows them to like change the course like you know,
- 36:12Speaker 1: to where they can go like to like the train
- 36:14Speaker 1: yards and where they can they can alter the direction
- 36:18Speaker 1: of where the trains are going, and like what lines
- 36:21Speaker 1: of trains are going on, and they find like a
- 36:22Speaker 1: whole series of like back lines that uh, that are
- 36:27Speaker 1: almost completely free of mobs. And by doing these kind
- 36:32Speaker 1: of like using all these back roots, they eventually do
- 36:34Speaker 1: find the stairways. So and and so that's when Carl
- 36:38Speaker 1: and Donut start telling everyone, Okay, this is how you
- 36:41Speaker 1: can find the stairways. You have to go, like you
- 36:45Speaker 1: have to get on one of the trains. You have
- 36:46Speaker 1: to all like or follow one of the tracks, and
- 36:48Speaker 1: you have to get to the specific train yard, and
- 36:51Speaker 1: once you get there, there's a specific line that'll take
- 36:54Speaker 1: you to an area where you can find a bunch
- 36:56Speaker 1: of stairways. And once because Carl and have found the
- 37:00Speaker 1: stairways pretty early on in the pretty early on, they
- 37:04Speaker 1: spend a lot of the the remaining time grinding tracking
- 37:09Speaker 1: down other crawlers and doing their best to help them
- 37:11Speaker 1: get to the get to the stairways, or at least
- 37:14Speaker 1: navigate to where they can find the stairways. At one point,
- 37:19Speaker 1: let me see, let me see, let me see, they earned,
- 37:26Speaker 1: they earned a bunch of achievements, and they actually and
- 37:28Speaker 1: they get a bunch of really cool loop boxes. Carl
- 37:31Speaker 1: gets one specific loop box that you know, one specific
- 37:36Speaker 1: loop box that basically gives him access to a wheel,
- 37:39Speaker 1: a wheel of fortune kind of like kind of like
- 37:43Speaker 1: pick your prize kind of achievement. So this summons up
- 37:47Speaker 1: a a former crawler NPC, and this former crawler like
- 37:53Speaker 1: gives him like an access to a bunch of different options,
- 37:55Speaker 1: Like what's that game show where like I think it's
- 37:58Speaker 1: like the price is right.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Or real fortune like actually fortune.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Yeah, wheel fortune, Like price is right, and like Carl
- 38:09Speaker 1: was given a choice a bunch of choices to choose from.
- 38:12Speaker 1: He can only choose one specific prize. Yeah, and there
- 38:16Speaker 1: was a bunch of them. Some of them were pretty useless,
- 38:18Speaker 1: others were like kind of cool, and like everyone is like, oh, yeah,
- 38:23Speaker 1: I picked that one, picked that one, or or like,
- 38:25Speaker 1: don't pick that one. But there's a little bit of
- 38:28Speaker 1: a hiccup as soon as the loopbox summons that NPC
- 38:32Speaker 1: because it turns out this specific NPC was a former
- 38:35Speaker 1: sky Fowl and this sky file was actually a member
- 38:41Speaker 1: of Mordecai's party from Yeah, so there was kind of
- 38:48Speaker 1: rewind a bit Mordecai what his original race was a
- 38:53Speaker 1: Skyfoul and many thousands of years ago he was a
- 38:55Speaker 1: dungeon crawler before he took a took a deal, left
- 38:59Speaker 1: and uh and left the dungeon early. But in return
- 39:04Speaker 1: he has to serve in future Dungeon Crawler future dungeon
- 39:08Speaker 1: crawls as a tutorial guide. And I believe this is
- 39:12Speaker 1: actually his last This floor right now, is this crawl
- 39:16Speaker 1: is his last crawl before he's free?
- 39:18Speaker 2: I think so. Yeah.
- 39:21Speaker 1: And when he was when he was originally a crawler,
- 39:24Speaker 1: he chose a he chose as an alchemist class, so
- 39:30Speaker 1: he's really good at making potions and his rate. The
- 39:33Speaker 1: race he chose was changeling so he could shape shift.
- 39:37Speaker 1: And now in the Dungeon Crawl as a tutorial guide,
- 39:42Speaker 1: every floor that he go, every floor that he appears on,
- 39:46Speaker 1: he doesn't have control over his changing abilities anymore. Instead,
- 39:49Speaker 1: now he like every floor, his form is chosen by
- 39:53Speaker 1: him at random. So like first floor when they first
- 39:55Speaker 1: met him, he was a rat. The second floor, I
- 39:57Speaker 1: think he was in.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Uh I forgot the third floor, third floor, second floor,
- 40:07Speaker 2: wasn't he a toad?
- 40:09Speaker 1: No? No, I think like the first two floors he
- 40:13Speaker 1: was just still a rat, but then the third floor he
- 40:17Speaker 1: was a incubus in this floor. For fourth floor, he's
- 40:23Speaker 1: a toad.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Okay, four floor, Yeah, yeah, you're right this one.
- 40:27Speaker 1: But it was funny beca. It's kind of funny because
- 40:31Speaker 1: like every time he changes, it's like he goes from
- 40:33Speaker 1: looking really weird and in some cases he looks really cute.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Uh.
- 40:36Speaker 1: I think in one floor he turns into like a
- 40:38Speaker 1: Gerbil kind of looking creature. Ye, all big, all guyede
- 40:42Speaker 1: and cute, and but this one he's a toad. And uh,
- 40:47Speaker 1: the thing is is that the price is right. Reel
- 40:50Speaker 1: of Fortune Crawler and former Crawler NPC guy.
- 40:53Speaker 2: He was one.
- 40:55Speaker 1: He was originally on Morecais party. And the thing is
- 40:59Speaker 1: is that something happens. We don't actually learn what happens
- 41:03Speaker 1: until I think like book like book five or six
- 41:07Speaker 1: between Mordecai and his former party. But uh, needless to say,
- 41:13Speaker 1: Mordecai hates this guy and as soon as he sees
- 41:17Speaker 1: him appear on site, immediately leaps to and tries to
- 41:22Speaker 1: attack him. He manages to get like one good hidden
- 41:26Speaker 1: before the Ai stops him and teleports him into a
- 41:30Speaker 1: bit of a time out. So now, uh so, now
- 41:35Speaker 1: Donna and Carl are without their manager. There are gonna
- 41:38Speaker 1: go without Mordecai for the next like three days. It's
- 41:43Speaker 1: like two or three days?
- 41:44Speaker 2: Yeah, was I though almost like seven?
- 41:48Speaker 1: Was it seven days? So basically he misses the whole
- 41:51Speaker 1: Huh yeah, I'm.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Pretty sure it was like more than a couple of days.
- 41:54Speaker 2: It was like, let's see how like seven days? Hear that?
- 42:01Speaker 2: Or a lot happened in those three in those three days,
- 42:04Speaker 2: which is possible a lot.
- 42:05Speaker 6: It was like it was like.
- 42:06Speaker 1: It was like three or four days or probably five.
- 42:08Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta look at it. Hold on, actually.
- 42:22Speaker 2: Win doubt, put out the pull out the source material.
- 42:29Speaker 1: This. You know, it's something I noticed. Books nowadays don't
- 42:34Speaker 1: have like a chapter's list anymore.
- 42:35Speaker 2: They don't. Yeah, they really don't. It's so weird that
- 42:40Speaker 2: they don't.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Let's see, that's broad cling Wood, it's brown nightmakspros Trman
- 43:19Speaker 1: felt early because it was somewhere like halfway through the books.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yeah it was. Yeah, it was somewhere like before or
- 43:34Speaker 2: around halfway, because he was gone for a good chunk
- 43:38Speaker 2: of it. Let me see.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Okay, I think I'm gonna little too far oop Yeah,
- 44:02Speaker 1: definitely too far. Yeah. Okay, so he got the car.
- 44:10Speaker 1: So the the loop box he got was was was
- 44:17Speaker 1: from his first sponsored box, and that's when he got
- 44:19Speaker 1: the price is right kind of pick yep here, Okay,
- 44:38Speaker 1: so it's actually a lot earlier than I thought. Okay,
- 44:41Speaker 1: cold on. Yeah, they're in the twenties already. They're probably
- 45:08Speaker 1: their personal space. Mordecai is still live around. You wanna
- 45:18Speaker 1: fucking break me pack your kid? Yeah. By this point,
- 45:25Speaker 1: Carl has has to regularly use a pettic your kid
- 45:28Speaker 1: to apply it buff to his feet because.
- 45:31Speaker 2: Yeah, because the you know, because the Ai has a
- 45:38Speaker 2: flip fetish.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Yep man she station see. Okay, they're still talking to more. Okay,
- 45:52Speaker 1: so I'm close, I know, because they're still talking to Mordecai. Cool.
- 46:13Speaker 1: Oh I think I'm getting close.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Cool cool. Here it is oop.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Here it is?
- 46:33Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, yeah, so okay, all right, now open
- 46:47Speaker 1: your box up. Okay. He opened it up. For a
- 46:50Speaker 1: long moment, nothing happened. Lights to the room, dim music
- 46:53Speaker 1: started playing. It was It was cheesy nineteen seventy style
- 46:57Speaker 1: game show music with trumpets and keyboards and percussion music
- 47:00Speaker 1: and a disco beat color light flash. Mango stop howling
- 47:03Speaker 1: and jumping and rushed to donut side. We all stood
- 47:05Speaker 1: back from the kitchen counter, all except Mortercai, whose frog
- 47:07Speaker 1: face had suddenly taken on a stony expression. Carl, what's happening,
- 47:11Speaker 1: donut ass, Probably something stupid, I said. The announcer's voice
- 47:14Speaker 1: was even cheesier than normal. Ladies and gentlemen, It's time
- 47:17Speaker 1: for your favorite segment, Dungeon Crawler World, the prize carousel
- 47:22Speaker 1: and blah blah blah blah. Here's your host. It's a
- 47:27Speaker 1: dungeon dot Lane give her prizes. Slayer of God's former
- 47:31Speaker 1: Crawler Champion. It's Choco the Bard. Let me see, so yeah, okay,
- 47:39Speaker 1: so Chocolate the Bard is a winged wolfhead wolf headed
- 47:44Speaker 1: man and brown and orange checkered leisure suit. And let
- 47:49Speaker 1: me see he had a platinum box. He's all he's going,
- 48:01Speaker 1: He's going through the whole like you know, you received
- 48:03Speaker 1: a preinum a platinum fan box. Oh boy, that's a
- 48:06Speaker 1: good one. You set home, decided to give Carl a
- 48:08Speaker 1: chance to pick his own prize, and you know what
- 48:10Speaker 1: that and you know what that means. We have nine
- 48:12Speaker 1: excellent prizes on the Carol Sell and oh shit, Mordecai. Yeah,
- 48:18Speaker 1: and Mordechai is like, you motherfucker.
- 48:21Speaker 2: On site, on fucking site.
- 48:25Speaker 1: He attacked and he attacks him. His tongue lashes out
- 48:28Speaker 1: like like uses his tongue like a wit and he
- 48:35Speaker 1: uses to grab it like a metal chair. In there, uh,
- 48:39Speaker 1: in their new safe because they in this book, Carl
- 48:41Speaker 1: and Donut buys their own like safe room. So they
- 48:45Speaker 1: now have their own like house kind of like apartment.
- 48:48Speaker 1: And it's also where Mordecai will like we'll be waiting
- 48:52Speaker 1: for them whenever they come into like whenever they come
- 48:53Speaker 1: into the safe room, and uh so Morecai like on
- 48:59Speaker 1: site a tax Choco. But the thing is that when
- 49:04Speaker 1: he throws the chair at Chaco, the since they're in
- 49:07Speaker 1: the safe room, the safe room immediately like it has
- 49:12Speaker 1: safety protocols, so it stops, like and it'll stop any
- 49:14Speaker 1: attacks and it'll like freeze you in place for a
- 49:17Speaker 1: few seconds. Yeah, and if you continue to, like, if
- 49:21Speaker 1: you make any more violations, it'll randomly teleport you out
- 49:24Speaker 1: of the safe room. And usually it'll teleport you into
- 49:27Speaker 1: a very bad spot. So like in the middle of
- 49:31Speaker 1: a bunch of mobs, let me see, mom, go ground,
- 49:39Speaker 1: let me see, Mordecai's frozen in place, his tongue half retracted.
- 49:44Speaker 1: He had the word knotty blazing over his head. Let
- 49:48Speaker 1: me see here. Yeah, mortar pite disappeared. Yeah, he out.
- 50:00Speaker 1: He's gone for seven days.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Yep, seven days for seven days.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Yeah, So it happens pretty early on in the book.
- 50:12Speaker 1: So he so he's gone pretty much the entire time,
- 50:15Speaker 1: because the Iron Tangle only lasts for ten days. I
- 50:19Speaker 1: think they were just in like their first or second day,
- 50:21Speaker 1: So he's gone for all of it, only comes back
- 50:24Speaker 1: near the ends. And Carl and Donut so like after that,
- 50:30Speaker 1: like Carl is like, well.
- 50:33Speaker 3: Shit, well fuck, and.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Well they can make do without him. It's just that
- 50:40Speaker 1: like it's one of those things. It's more of like
- 50:43Speaker 1: bad timing. Yeah, but they're gonna they're just gonna have
- 50:48Speaker 1: to make do without him. Uh So after that and
- 50:51Speaker 1: after Chaco like composes himself, he gives Carl the list
- 50:55Speaker 1: of options to choose from. He has nine different options,
- 51:00Speaker 1: like full things to choose from. Should I should have
- 51:02Speaker 1: stayed on that section?
- 51:09Speaker 3: Okay?
- 51:09Speaker 1: Cool? So let's see he gets prize number one, so
- 51:13Speaker 1: his first option is two potion mm hmm, and let
- 51:22Speaker 1: me see prize two. He gets five hundred bombs. At
- 51:25Speaker 1: this point, Carlo has become as embraced his his compensated
- 51:31Speaker 1: anarchists class. Mainly he uses traps and demolitions, so he
- 51:37Speaker 1: used He originally started out with Goblin grade explosives, which
- 51:43Speaker 1: were really unstable.
- 51:46Speaker 2: I would I would say so, but then.
- 51:49Speaker 1: He upgraded to Hobgoblin grade explosive and Hobgoblin grade explosives
- 51:54Speaker 1: are more stable and more explosive. They are, so it's
- 51:58Speaker 1: five hundred bombs. So pyramid of hobb Lobbers as he
- 52:01Speaker 1: calls them. So they're basically just grenades. Third prize is
- 52:05Speaker 1: books Earth books too, like two thousand earth books ranging
- 52:10Speaker 1: from fifty Shades of Gray to what appeared to be
- 52:13Speaker 1: a Canadian phone book. And his fourth prize is a
- 52:19Speaker 1: nineteen sixty five Harley Davidson FLH Panhead Electric Glide. It's
- 52:25Speaker 1: a red and beige motorcycle. And Carl is a little
- 52:29Speaker 1: pissed that one appeared because it's the exact same model
- 52:32Speaker 1: and brand that his father used to have, and he
- 52:34Speaker 1: does not have fond memories of his father, like.
- 52:38Speaker 2: Every like like myself, daddy issues.
- 52:44Speaker 1: I was gonna say he could be a gay man
- 52:45Speaker 1: with the amount of daddy issues he has.
- 52:48Speaker 2: I mean, his dad was a piece of shit. You
- 52:51Speaker 2: soon find out, all.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Right, and it's fit. The fifth prize is called it
- 53:03Speaker 1: was just one book and small. It was just a
- 53:11Speaker 1: small leathern bound book that on the label the title
- 53:14Speaker 1: of the book says best Laid Traps laid as an
- 53:19Speaker 1: l A L A I D Best Laid Traps doughnuts
- 53:28Speaker 1: like is that porn?
- 53:30Speaker 2: My question too?
- 53:33Speaker 1: Another book, and this one was similar to the last,
- 53:37Speaker 1: but the book was much now pay attention, pay attention.
- 53:44Speaker 1: This This one was similar to the last, but the
- 53:47Speaker 1: book was much thicker, about the size of a large dictionary.
- 53:50Speaker 1: It did not have a title on the cover, but
- 53:52Speaker 1: it did have a symbol. It was the familiar A
- 53:55Speaker 1: in a circle signifying anarchy. The book glinted momentarily as
- 53:59Speaker 1: the carousel turned away. I couldn't tell if that was
- 54:02Speaker 1: the glow of magic or the glint of light off
- 54:04Speaker 1: the gold leaf pages. Prize seven enchanted chaps.
- 54:10Speaker 2: Yeah, don't don't.
- 54:15Speaker 1: It's over here. Karl pick those, Choco. He picks those,
- 54:18Speaker 1: and Chaco thankfully is like, sorry, but Karl must make
- 54:21Speaker 1: the decision. And the aid and cross and cross less
- 54:25Speaker 1: chaps were modeled by spinning Mannekin. They were made of
- 54:28Speaker 1: a dark leather that glowed with a greenish aura. Carl
- 54:32Speaker 1: immediately says, no, wait, a single potion. So this potion
- 54:41Speaker 1: is a special kind of potion that instantly raises a
- 54:46Speaker 1: what is a stat buff potion? It instantly raises uh,
- 54:53Speaker 1: like instantly, I think it's like one or two of
- 54:55Speaker 1: your stats. It instantly buffs them up. Yeah, don't had
- 55:00Speaker 1: it and it really helped her. The ninth prize is
- 55:04Speaker 1: a Craftsman three thousand Series sixty three rolling inch tool chest.
- 55:11Speaker 1: Now At this point, Carl has started making use of
- 55:13Speaker 1: like the craft's table and his news in his new
- 55:16Speaker 1: safe room. So since he is a compensated anarchist, he
- 55:21Speaker 1: mainly works in demolition and trap making, so that's what
- 55:24Speaker 1: he uses his craft tables for. So but this thing
- 55:28Speaker 1: is is the craft. This thing looks the craft table
- 55:31Speaker 1: like it's that pulls out on the carousel. It looks
- 55:33Speaker 1: like a piece of shit and it's not very interesting.
- 55:36Speaker 1: And his first but then again, his first reaction is
- 55:39Speaker 1: to pick the toolbox. But something let's see hold on, like,
- 55:59Speaker 1: his first instinct is to select the toolbox though because
- 56:02Speaker 1: he thought it could be useful. But looking at at
- 56:04Speaker 1: the toolbox, he realizes it's exact one that he had
- 56:08Speaker 1: ah because it was his own personal toolbox he used
- 56:12Speaker 1: to use. But the thing is, he was looking at it,
- 56:15Speaker 1: he could tell that there, he could tell that this
- 56:17Speaker 1: thing was empty. So it didn't have any useful tools
- 56:20Speaker 1: in it. It's just a a toolbox. That's all it is.
- 56:26Speaker 1: That's all it is. It wouldn't give him any kind
- 56:28Speaker 1: of like exture use. Let's see, you know, he's looking
- 56:36Speaker 1: at all that, he looks through all nine of his choices,
- 56:39Speaker 1: but his his gaze is brought back to that one uh,
- 56:45Speaker 1: to that one book, the book with a hun as
- 56:50Speaker 1: it described a dictionary style book with not with no title,
- 56:56Speaker 1: but it did have an anarchy symbol on it.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 57:01Speaker 1: I'm assuming the book itself was read with the gold
- 57:04Speaker 1: leaf anarchy, like a gold or silver leaf anarchy book,
- 57:07Speaker 1: kind of like what the Ace hardcover looks like, Yeah,
- 57:11Speaker 1: but in more of like a bigger dictionary style. So
- 57:14Speaker 1: that's what I'm assuming. It looks like it doesn't have
- 57:16Speaker 1: like more of a description for it. But Carl can't
- 57:19Speaker 1: help but notice that when it comes back around when
- 57:22Speaker 1: he's like going, when he caught when he when he
- 57:24Speaker 1: has a with the carousel, uh like turn back around,
- 57:29Speaker 1: the light keeps glint glinting off of this strange anarchy
- 57:33Speaker 1: book with the anarchy with the anarchy symbol on it. Yeah,
- 57:39Speaker 1: and he realizes that it might be something that way
- 57:42Speaker 1: the lightest glinting. It might be something within the system
- 57:45Speaker 1: that's trying to that's trying to let him know that
- 57:48Speaker 1: this is important because he because he's seen it before.
- 57:52Speaker 1: So he decides, uh, he's gonna pick prize number six
- 57:56Speaker 1: a book, and this is what and this is what
- 57:59Speaker 1: he is chosen book the Dungeon, anarchist cookbook by anonymous
- 58:05Speaker 1: This is a unique item chicken and goblin recipes galore,
- 58:11Speaker 1: but it's more than that too. Each recipe is accompanied
- 58:14Speaker 1: by a hilarious tell by the anonymous author recounting some
- 58:18Speaker 1: of the zany and madcap misadventures they fully experience gathering
- 58:23Speaker 1: these mouth watering recipes. Fun for the whole family. This
- 58:27Speaker 1: book is a real hoop.
- 58:30Speaker 2: I love the description of the book. It's so good,
- 58:33Speaker 2: it's so funny.
- 58:36Speaker 1: But here's the thing. When Carl takes the book, yeah,
- 58:46Speaker 1: let's see here. So he takes the books, he takes
- 58:53Speaker 1: the book realizes he may have chosen poorly. In fact,
- 58:57Speaker 1: his first thought is yep, you've done fun. And he
- 59:03Speaker 1: was about to talk the book into his inventory, but
- 59:05Speaker 1: instead he flips to the first page and it read welcome.
- 59:10Speaker 1: And when he starts reading it, he feels the haptic
- 59:14Speaker 1: buzz from his escape plan skill activate and additional words
- 59:18Speaker 1: appear on the mostly blank page, and this is what
- 59:22Speaker 1: it says, Hello, crawler, as you're about to find this
- 59:26Speaker 1: is a very special book. If you're reading these words,
- 59:30Speaker 1: it means this book has found its way into your
- 59:33Speaker 1: hands for one purpose, and one purpose only. Together, we
- 59:37Speaker 1: will burn it all to the ground.
- 59:39Speaker 2: Period Wink Wink.

- 1:01:07Speaker 1: and to the viewers, it is not invisible to the
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: current system AI. There is nothing about owning this book
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: or the information hidden within that is against the rules. However,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: if the organization running this season begins to suspect that
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: this book is more than it appears, or if you
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: tell anyone about the existence of this book, the information
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: within will all well excuse me, The information within will erase,

- 1:01:48Speaker 1: be presented to the outside world as if you are
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: discovering this all on your own. How you do that
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: is up to you. Do not spend too much time
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: staring at these pages and right under this description is
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: the very first is a note added by crawler Drakeaea
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: from the twenty second edition, and it says the safe
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: room restrooms are a good place to read. Just don't
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: take too long or you'll get pinched. The rats say
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: there's a syndicate rule that they can't watch you in
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: the bathroom stalls. This is just for the actual toilets,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: not the rest of the bathrooms to know if it's true.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Those Naga bastards are suspicious. Are a suspicious lot, and
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: I fear I may be soon discovered. So, so what
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: this means The Dungeon Crawler Anarchists Cookbook. It is a
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: special book that allows specific crawler within each season starting
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: from season fifteen, to add and record their own unique style,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: recipes and pretty much any tips and tricks that they
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: had for causing as much chaos and anarchy as possible. Yeah,
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: so from so this is the twenty fourth edition, So
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: there are about this is the nine. So this is
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: the ninth. Wait, hold on, I am not mathing right,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: So this is about like the fifteenth. This is the
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: exactly what it is, twenty fourth edition. So there have
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: been so people I did not go to school for math.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: Don't judge me, math hurts.
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: You went to school for model for three D modeling
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: that deals with math and dimensions. My dude, it's visual.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: It's it's all completely visual. Doesn't involve adding and subtracting.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: It's literally going off you as you feel. It's different.
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: Okay, it's shut different. I didn't go to math either way,
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: but Carl.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: Yeah, including Carl, there have been twenty there's twenty four
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: Dungeon crawlers that have had this book. Now, the Dungeon Crawler,
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: the Anarchist Cookbook would take on different forms forms throughout
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: the different seasons. First one was a sketch book. One
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: person had a deck of tarot cards, and of course,
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: now in Carl's case, it's a cookbook.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: And I think one person had like a scroll or
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: something too, when the past one's like a fold out scroll.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Yep. So this is literally a dungeon cheat sheet that.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: The dungeon made for its own ships and giggles.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Mm hmm, the Dungeon mad So, as far as we know,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: the only, the only, the only, the AI Excuse me,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: my god, I must be having a stroke or something,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: because I just can't fucking talk. I should do what
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Joe Santagato does and get like a telephone like hand
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: telephone behind me, and every time I just start like
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: tripping over myself in stutter and just grab and be like.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, ladies and gentlemen, this is normal.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Yeah it is. Unfortunately, yeah, I love you're paying enough
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: for this.
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: You don't get paid at all.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: So the Anarchist Cookbook, like I have to say, it,
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: becomes a very important part of Carl's of this entire crawl.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: Actually, if they ever side note, they ever actually make
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: a product where he goes in and writes each page
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: and makes a whole book where the Anarchist Cookbook like
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: an actual book book of it. I'm going to buy
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: that ship so goddamn quick, I want it.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: It would probably it would work better if it was
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: like an e book, so he could probably like add
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: like those little hidden side notes from the crawlers.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: Oh, that'd be that would be good.
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: The thing is is that like these were all like
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: they're hidden notes within the cookbook from all these past
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: crawlers who have had it. All of them have like
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: unique interesting tips and tricks of like causing as much
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: chaos as possible. Carl learns like different ways to set
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: like new traps, Like he learns at one point that
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: he can make stronger, like he can make like a
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: special kind of like gas trap, like a like a
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: gas grenade by dipping the hoblobber in a potionent like
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: a healing potion, like soaking like his like specific smoke
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: curtain grenades in like potion and like healing potions, and
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: when he throws it, it creates it doesn't create like
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: a healing curtain, but it actually causes damage to mobs. Yeah,
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: so there are a bunch of other tricks that he learns,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: different traps, and it's not just traps and other ways
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: of causing anarchy ensuing anarchy amongst the syndicate, but it
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: also has tips on like different NPCs that previous crawlers
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: have encountered. And in some cases, the dungeon crawl may actually,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: like the theme of the of the of the crawl
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: may actually be similar to previous themes. So like, yeah,
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: they're different floors, but they may, but for the most part,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: they all have like the same different floors. So like
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: floor three, floor six, floor nine, twelve, those are all
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: the same floor no matter what, No matter what season
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: of the crawl, they're on those four floors. And I
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: think like all the way up to floor eighteen as well,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: those are all the same floors, so those don't change,
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: you know, the over city, the hunting grounds, the faction wars,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: the Ascendancy, the Scolopendra arc, all of those are the
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: same right on sin these twelve plus three fifteen, so yeah,
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: that uh, there's fifty. The fifteen floor is supposed to
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: be like uh, like a hellish one, like this fiendish
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: descent or something. So like the ascendency is when they
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: are on the floor where all the gods are, and
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: then the fifteen floors where all the demons was like
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: the demon floors, and then the eighteen floor Scolopendra, this
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: centipede the like the ultimate boss, this centipede creature that
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: destroyed like like the it destroyed like the like they
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: have like a whole backstory to it. But no matter what,
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: all four those those four or five U those floors floors,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: as you can see, I'm already like.
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: Failing old man needs to take a nap.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Shure, says the old man.
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: I'm not over here having a stroke.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: No, but you are over over there wrapping yourself itself
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: up in her shawl like bagotmain.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: Oh, I am thank you, thank you for noticing, thank you.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: Anyway, thte you. So the cookbook itself comes in really handy,
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: especially on those floors. I mean, he says he got
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: it on floor four. It's not gonna it's the main
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: use for it won't really come in handy until he
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: gets to the hunting grounds. So he still got He
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: still has another two floors to go before he gets there.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: But he starts coming up using all these recipes, come
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: up with these really cool tip like tricks, and he
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: starts he does what he does best best, and he
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: sews anarchy throughout the floors. And it doesn't just use
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: it to like get to get further through the dungeon.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: He also uses it to sow chaos within the syndicate itself,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: like some of the ship some of the actions he takes,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: like like unifying all the dungeon crawlers, getting them to
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: work together. That's one way that they're saying fuck you
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: to the syndicate, because.
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: It nice.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: That the syndicate usually tries to like like kill and
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: separate the crawlers as much as possible.
- 1:10:22Speaker 7: But what Carl is.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Doing is bringing them together. They're working together. And by
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: the time they get deeper and deeper to the h
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: into the dungeon. Like, not to spoil it for you guys,
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: but by the time we get to uh, the ninth
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: floor for the Faction Wars, there are more dungeon crawlers
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: still alive by that point than in any other floor
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: in history. Like usually by that point there's only a
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: few thousand crawlers left, right, and the Faction Wars does
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: a really good job of like killing the rest of them, right,
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: Most crawls usually end by floor nine. Yeah, but like
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: not to give like spoiler, I'm not gonna spoil it
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: too much for you guys, but by the time they
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: get to the ninth floor, they're still oh, like they're
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: still close to forty thousand crawlers left. Not gonna get
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: exact numbers, but there's still like forty thousand crawlers left,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: which is more than any other dungeon crawlers before. Usually
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: by that point there's only about ten thousand crawlers left. Yeah,
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: and there was almost what like twelve million that entered
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: the floor thirteen million that entered the dungeon.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: Yeah, roundabout that.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so they're really picking him off. But
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: because of the shit that Carl does with the help
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: of the cookbook, like he really helps a lot of crawlers,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: all right. It helps him get out of really sticky situations.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: It helps him to like really stick it to the man,
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: all right, which god that I really do sound old.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Don't worry at all. His his nurse will give him
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: his meds after I've done here, so this won't ever
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: happen again.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and then she's going to have to drive over
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: to your house to give you yours.
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: I actually forgot to take my antidepressants.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: There you go. I'll send her right.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: Now yet fuck you, fuck you, but thank you for
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: reminding me. Note to self, take my man Okay, need
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: take my antidepressants. M So anyway, so what happens after
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: you find the book?
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: So so I kind of got ahead of myself. He
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: gets the cookbook very early on in the He gets
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: very early on in the floor, and then of course
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: he goes to the rest of the floor, mapping as
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: much of it as possible, killing as many of the mobs.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: The mob generators also helping the other crawlers to navigate
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: their way to those back UH train lines so they
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: can find the entrances to the to the stairways. Now,
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: in some places the stairways are completely blocked off by
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: huge like mobs, like like huge hordes of mobs, and
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: in some cases Carl has to fight his way to
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: UH to those crawlers and help them navigate to like
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: a safer area.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: Now, because they've begun killing as many of the Krakaren
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: mob bosses and the mob generators as well, another wave
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: of mobs began to appear.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: Mimics.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: These mimics. The thing is, these mimics are bigger. They
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: don't just take the form of you know, like little chests, right,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: they take the forms of Like one mimic actually to
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: shape itself to look like an open like an open
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: subway tunnel. Album was a big and Carl somehow manages
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: to like teleport it into the train yard, and when
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: it teleports there, the mimic immediately like transforms itself into
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: one of the warehouse buildings. And when he realizes where
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: the where the mimic ended up, he had to go
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: fight his way to the mimic to try to figure
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: out a way to like either kill it or get
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: or like find a different way for the other crawlers
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: to get around it, because people are going to enter
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: that train yard, see the mimic as a building, not
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: think anything of it, and then the mimic will like
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: just gobble them up as they go by.
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: Yeah, as we get closer to the end of the story,
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: they're like they're already like getting down to like the
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: last few days of the of the crawl.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: They've mapped most of the as much of the Iron
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Tangle as possible, and they figured out a decent system
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: of helping other crawlers navigate to the to the stairways,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: and Carl and Donut finally encounter Hecla. Now Hecla has
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: a huge party of all female crawlers, right, Yeah, and
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: now they're working on a specific mission to try to
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: pick up as many crawlers on their train as possible
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: because they took control of the Nightmare Express and most
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: of the carts have been destroyed, but they're still at least, uh,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: they can still at least hold people. So they're getting
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: so they're going through the Iron Tangle picking up as
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: many crawlers as possible, and they actually pick up Hecla's group.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: And the thing is Katia Kandya herself. She'd used her
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: doppel gigability doppelganger abilities to transform herself into a She
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: transforms herself into like you know those iron like grills,
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: those grates that trains will have put will have in
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: front of those old style trains would have on. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: they're they're like a bumper. They they're meant to help
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: play if a train encounter's debris on the tracks, They're
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: meant to like safely like like push them away. Yeah,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: like that so that way the train doesn't get derailed. Well,
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: she transformed herself into that, and they basically used her
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: as a battering ram. So she used like her little
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: neat trick to absorb masts, and she absorbed a bunch
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: of like steel plates and armor. And when she transformed
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: herself into that, it made her stronger. So as they're
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: killing and as they're going down the track and they
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: kill and they run over any mobs like that, great
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: itself is like her her she's basically turned herself into
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: a battering ram.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: And the thing is, as they're working with Hecla, there
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: you start working with Hecla, they realized they quickly learned
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: that Hecla has uh ulterium ulterium motives, ulterior motives. Ye
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: are seeing that five times fast ulterior motives or two.
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: Motives because I know I've fuck it up. Yeah, I'm
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: not going to bury her stuff like that anyway. Heck
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: Glo's a bitch.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: Yeah, they needed so Hekla. They the reason why they
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: met up with her, of course, was too like uh
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: ing Terena with Katya because she was part of that
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: She was originally part of their party and they needed
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: her help with a specific kind of like rescue mission.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: But it turns.
- 1:17:22Speaker 6: Out uh but see, as it turns out heck Glove
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: really didn't really want Katia back because the thing is,
- 1:17:32Speaker 6: Kati was so low level, but the last time she
- 1:17:35Speaker 6: saw her, she wasn't really useful to Katya.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: Kanty wasn't really useful to Hecla, and really what Katya
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: really wanted was donut.
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: Well Heckler really wanted was donut. Yeah right, yeah, Heckla,
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: you said Katya.
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: Oh anyway, Katia, I'm terrible with names. I'm better. I
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: could just go over the rest of this episode is
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: just saying that bitch. Yeah really, so the thing is
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: is that Hecla like told them that they needed to
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: rescue one of her other party members, and that's why
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: they were using the Nightmare Express train with Katia as
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: a battering ram. Mainly it was it wasn't actually to
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: rescue somebody, but it was one to try to get
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: rid of Katia and Carl as well, because the track
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: that they were going down was riddled with huge waves
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: of mobs right they were killing hundreds of them at
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: a time, and they were hoping that Carl and Katia
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: would die, leaving Donut free to join another party. And
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: they and Heckla wanted her to join their party. And
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: the thing is Hecla actually actually like manipulates, She actually
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: schemes with her party members to have one of them
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: like try to kill Carl and the uh in the
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: chaos from this uh from their plan. The thing is
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: it fails. Carl sees right through it, and uh, Donut
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: actually sees Hecla fire a crossbow bolts into Katia like
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: it didn't and it wasn't accidental like well like like
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: Hecla was at the front of the train and she
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: was shooting her crossbow at the mobs. But Donut actually
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: sees Hecla deliberately aimed down at Katia and shoot her. Yeah,
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: and Donut freaks out. She starts going ape shit. She
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: goes ballistic on Hecla and starts attacking her. Carl calms
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: her down. And the thing is, Katia can't really come
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: in to like defend herself just yet because there's still
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: she's still like on the front of the train fighting
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: the mobs, and uh. They managed to push Hekla out
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: and like and like Carl like de escalates everything and
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: hears him out and comes to like like it really
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: does come to light that yeah, all Heckla really wanted
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: was Donut, but now that Doughnuts saw what Hecla did,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: she wants nothing to do with Yeah, And Heckla is
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: like now like realizing like, oh, well, jig's up and
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: she's still cut. It seems like she's it seemed like
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: she really was. She was still going to try to
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: take Donut if by force. And the thing is is
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: that they stopped the train. Katia comes up and there's
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: some words exchanged between the two of them because it
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: turns out Katia and Hecla knew each other from before.
- 1:20:36Speaker 7: And Iceland I can yeah, back in Iceland. And the
- 1:20:40Speaker 7: thing is is that Heckla had a very low opinion
- 1:20:43Speaker 7: of Katia because from Katya's personal life, it seemed like
- 1:20:46Speaker 7: even back like back before the crawl, she was like
- 1:20:51Speaker 7: in Heckla's opinion was pretty pathetic and useless, and there
- 1:20:56Speaker 7: was some really just really neat, uh like really mean
- 1:21:00Speaker 7: words said by Hekla and Katya. She got really pissed
- 1:21:05Speaker 7: off and she charged at Hekla. Thing is, though, like
- 1:21:09Speaker 7: Katya has just unlocked a new ability that literally turns
- 1:21:13Speaker 7: her into a into a battering ram.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: So she builds up enough speed and uh and she
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: triggers the ability she literally can like just bulldoze through anything.
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: And well when she did that, she ends up bulldozing
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: right through Hecla, killing.
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: Her instantly smushing her making into much ice cream. I
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: was like, oh, yeah, you probably like you probably didn't
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: mean for to do that, but good thing you did.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: Yeah. The rest of the daughters of bru Hilled are
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: pretty pissed, and Carl and Dona and Katia had to
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: lock themselves in the conductor uh in the conduct in
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: the conductor train until they can like pull into a
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: safe into like a safe zone the thing is is
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: that a lot of the it seems like a lot
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: of the daughters of brin Hill were kind of like
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: already sussed out by Hecla because it's because several of
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: them felt like they were just being used, and uh,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: in a way, they were right because so after Katia
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: kills Hecla, she like she pulls Hecla's body into her
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: inventory and she gets everything that Hecla had collected, including
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: her crossbow. And as it turns out, the crossbow had
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: a specific trait to it that the crossbow itself becomes
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: stronger the more female crawlers you have in your party.
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: Mm from a god?
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, It's like something like crossbow of a God.
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: And like the more female party members you have, the
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: stronger the crossbow is and the more buffs you get
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: from it. So that's so Kantia like, have they managed
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: to like de escalate the situation with the with the
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: Brunehill's daughters, And a lot of them are just like
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: they're they they're like, well, ship, you just killed our
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: party leader leader. What do we do now. It's like
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: most of them they just like say, all right, well
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: I'm out of here.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: I didn't sign up for this ship exactly.
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: So let's see here. So yeah, they so after that
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: and they get more, they get more of the after
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: they break they break off with Brunehill. The former members
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: of Brunehill's Daughters. Uh, the Crawlers start, Uh Carlin Donnut
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: start leading everybody to like start helping more people get
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: to the safe rooms and get to the stairways. It's possible. Uh,
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: they get they take a break in the they take
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: a break in the safe room, and they're already like
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: they're they're already nearing the end of the of the
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: Iron Tangle. There's only like two or three days left.
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: Mordecai finally comes back, and they're pretty pissed with him,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: and he's they're pretty pissed and disappointed with him, and
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: uh they're trying to discuss what they're gonna do, and
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: they're catching up. They're catching Mordecai up with everything that's happens,
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: and uh, I run. At that point, a huge wave
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: of blood and guts explodes out of Katia.
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: So the reason why that happened is like right before
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: it happens, they all get in an announcement.
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: That the.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: That they are changing the system the rules concerning their inventory.
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: So crawlers can't just take large bodies of fluids uh
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: like uncontained fluids into their uh into their inventory, because
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: it it's causing problems and shit. So when that as
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: soon as that announcement comes in, all of this blood
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: and like liquid guts just explode out of Coxia because
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: let me tell you why. When she was hooked up
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: to the front of the Nightmare Express as a battering ram,
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: her form was her battering ram form was getting caked
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: with so much blood and gore that it was making
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: it hard for her to see what she was doing.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: So she what she would do to keep it off
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: of her was she would immediately pull the blood and
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: guts and corpses of these of the mobs she killed
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: into her inventory. And since she killed literally like hundreds,
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: if not thousands, of these mobs while going down the line,
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: she took thousands of gallons of blood and guts into
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: her inventory, so as soon as that update went through,
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: it all immediately gets ejected from her in the middle
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: of her safe room like.
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: Uh oh explosion.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Uh. And so at that point about Mordecai comes back
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: and he's like, what the hell just happened. So it
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: was kind of funny. It was it was really funny.
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: It was funny Carl has to catch Mordecai out. They
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: come up with a plan, like all right, they got
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: to start making the final push to the to the
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: stairways because at this point it the mobs are becoming
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: too dangerous and they are most likely going to have
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: to call it quits early. Instead of waiting like till
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: the last minute, I think they do actually wait until
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: the last minute before they leave. I'm just gonna take kick.
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: I'm just gonna look at this. So, so we're getting
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: to the last parts of the book. So as they're
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: getting closer to the end of the to the collapse
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: of the floor, the survivors are beginning to converge on
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: key stairwell stations, mainly the one station that they noted
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: that was particularly safe was station thirty six and the
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: part the crawlers have to make a stand and wait
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: because most of them are going to try their best
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: to wait until the very last minute to begin entering
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: the stairways because at this point the stairways don't unlock
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: until like like I think, like the last like twenty
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: four hours of the crawl of the level, and they
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: began coordinating with all the crawlers that are there to
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: make a stand like flame using flame throwers, traps magic
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: to hold back the waves of like the cracked out
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: kra Coen monsters and ghules, and like we really see
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: that a lot of the crawlers have come together. So
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: like before in the first three floors, a lot of
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: the crawlers are just doing their own thing, but in
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: this one in the Iron Tangle, seems like there's hundreds,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: if not thousands of crawlers starting to work.
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: Together as they should as they should.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: But the thing is is that this is when Carl
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: also learns that there are hundreds of crawlers that are
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: being stranded at this one that are stranded at this
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: one particular section of the of the Iron Tangle, and
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: that's something called the abyss. So like there's a section
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: of the of the transfer lines that have these portals, right,
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: and these portals are where like they'll transport the train
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: the subway trains back to the beginning of their lines
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: or if there was like any like damage trains or
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: junk trains that are no longer in use, they go
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: through a specific portal that sends them into a trash
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: abyss like an abyss. And the thing is that one
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: of the portals they really need, the crawlers really need
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: like a specific type of NPC to enter it, but
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: unfortunately the NPC they needed got killed. So now they're
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: stuck there and they can't get through it to get
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: to the stairway. Carl has to mount a rescue attempt
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: to try to like get to get to there so
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: they can get like a specific type of NPC to
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: get them into the portal, right, and let me see,
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: and this particular so they come up with a plan
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: to rescue these crawlers, and the plan involved using a
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: specific NPC, so like this NPC is considered a like
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: key NPC, and in order to use him, they have
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: to kill him. But the funny thing is is that
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: this NPC, his name is Growler Gary. Uh. He's an
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: NPC that literally cannot die, Like you could kill him,
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: but he's immediately resurrected. Yeah, so he keeps so he's
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: basically Kenny.
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's Kenny. Yeah. Poor guy.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: He dies, and then a few hours later and he's
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: back up and poor guy like poor guy, like because
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: he does this poor Gary. He's a hyena, like a
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: I think he's like a.
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: Knol, Coboltnole whatever they say, like Cobolt looks like a
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: hyena thing. I'm like Cobalt, but he kind to D
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: and D terms it kind of looks like a knoll basically, Yeah.
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he's I think that's what he is,
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: is a null. Well anyway, he's a null. And he's
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: an alcoholic too, so he's like always plastered. Yeah, so's
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: they have to sacrifice him to be able to enter
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: those portals. They do that, and he manages to say
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: like thousands of crawlers and then and get them to
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: the stairway. The thing is, though Carl had learned that
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: Let's see, so Carl learned, like has known for a
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: while that the Skull Empire is out to kill him.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: So the Skull Empire, is said in previous episode, is
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: a it was basically an empire of Orcs, and he
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: had pissed off one of the princes of the of
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: the Skull Empire, and that prince bitch to his older brother.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: His older brother tried to kill Karl but failed, and
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: now he's gonna try again. So the thing is is
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: that the prince in question that he pissed off was.
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: He called himself the Maestro, and when he got his
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: brother to try to kill Karl the he only ended
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: up killing a naga who was also being controlled by
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: a Voltai warm and the Voltai Corporation took offence to
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: that and they launched a counter strike against the Skull Empire,
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: killing both the Mayastro and the Queen of the and
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: the Queen of the Skull Empire.
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: Well they had common, they had common, yeah, common.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: They had it coming. So the thing is is that uh,
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: his older brother I think is uh the the Mastro's
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: older brother who was the crown Prince of the Skull Empire,
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: calls himself Prince Stalwart. Uh. Stalwart is also participating in
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: the in the Crawl this season as a sponsored deity.
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: And this specific deity is I forgot which one he's sponsoring.
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: But it's like a war god, oh war god Grol
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: and like this is we're pretty much at the end.
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: Uh So, so Carl had to he has to deal
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: with the mimic that he had teleported away from that
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: he managed to teleport away from the subway lines and
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: it turned itself into a warehouse at the transfer station.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: And the thing is is that because of that, a
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: lot of carawlers are walking into a trap. And uh,
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: so he has to figure out a way to get
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: rid of the city boss mimic because this mimic is
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: a city boss level. Yeah, it's huge, and it's virtually unkillable.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: And the thing is is that, uh, while trying to
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: deal with it, he inadverted, Carl inadvertently summons a god,
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: and the particular god in question happens to be the
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: very sponsored god that that Prince Stalwart is in control of.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: So Stalwart himself appears in the in the floor and
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: tries to kill Carl.
- 1:33:41Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: Carl uses this distraction to uses the god as a
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: ah as a way of not only uh killing the
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: city boss, but takes care of like huge swath of
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: like the swarms of mobs that that are appearing in
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: the transfer station. Yeah, and the thing is is that
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: Grahl very nearly kills Karl several times and almost pummels
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: him to death. But Carl was given a special like
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: a specialty potion by Mordecai, so this potion temporarily makes
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: him unkillable. But the problem is is that it's not.
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: It doesn't make him indestructible. So what it does is
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: that basically, like you could still take damage while the
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: spell is in effect, while the potion's in effects, you
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: can still take damage and something can kill you, but
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: the potion rapidly heals you. So basically like he basically
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: it turns you into a cockroach.
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: Yeah, basically smush.
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: Then immediately pop back up and you can scurry on it. Yeah,
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: you can scurry away. And the thing is is that
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: I'm trying to remember what So there was like a
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: specific idea him or spell that if you use it
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: in uh, if you do, if you use it here
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: in the due in this level of the dungeon, it
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: summons a deity. I think it has something to do
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: with a item. Is that if they kill if he
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: kills them, they can summon Graul. Yes, yeah, so that's
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: what he does. He like attacks one of the mantars
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: and it causes Gral to be summoned. So they were
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: gonna basically do that attack of mantar and then throw
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: his ass using a special portal. Like there's a special
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: like train that goes through the Iron Tangle and it
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: has a portal at the front of the train. And
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: what it does is that it collects any bodies, any debris,
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: like if you if you managed to crash one of
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: the trains or stop him, it'll like it'll basically just
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: go through, suck up all the debris the track, and
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: then a new train will come through and more mobs
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: will appear. So they managed to take control of that,
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: and like they were they were able to change the
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: portal to where it'll like dump the UH. It'll dump
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: all the debris mobs and ship in the UH in
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: the train yard where the mimic is. So they were
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: gonna do that on the man's horse. That way, when
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: his body is dumped into the train yard, it'll summon
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: Girl there. Carl takes his U in his vulnerability potion
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: like manages to like get the mimic and graalified each other,
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: even though Girl is being controlled by by the stall
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: work and uh, they managed to kill the mimic.
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: Let me see your.
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: So what they ended up doing is like they use
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: that they use that special like UH that jump portal
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: to trick both the mimic and to trap both the
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: mimic and Groll because seems when a god is summoned
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: that God will like take will appear as like in
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: like various sizes. So if it's like outside in a
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: wide open space, it'll appear as it near its full size,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: like its massive, towering monster. But if it's inside, like
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: a confined space, it'll appear more like normal size, like
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: a man's size or something like that, or maybe slightly bigger.
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: So what they did was like they got Grol and
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: the Mimic to fight each other. Growl attacks Carl a
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: few times, even the mimic does, but because he took
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: that in vulnerability potion, it doesn't kill him. It just
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: like he gets him, gets his ass whoops, but he
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: still but he survives. And what they end up doing
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: was that they got they managed to use the portal
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: to teleport both both Grol and the and the Mimic
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: down into the abyss where the where all the junk
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: is sent and because it's it's like basically a bottomless pit,
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: girl basically get basically dies.
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: So like Prince Polwart loses his sponsored deity as a result,
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: Well I gotta like, I gotta see what really happens,
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: like I'm sorry, give me sick. Yeah. Yeah, So basically
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: what they did was they threw they got another man tar.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: So after Grohl kills the kills the city boss mimic
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: he uh, they distract him while uh Katia like transforms
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: herself into like a copy of Carl to distract girl.
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: And then Donut alongside had a couple other crawlers. Uh,
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: they had captured another Mantar and they started beating his
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: ass up. And when they did that, this triggers the
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: summoning of Grol and just before the sumning goes through,
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: they toss him through the trap the abyscuit and when
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: Grell gets summoned, he basically falls.
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: Into the abyss dead death.
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: It doesn't technically kill Grohl, but it does desummon him,
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: like despawn him.
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he's not He's not part of the picture anymore.
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think that also causes Grol uh the
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: Mayastro to lose his sponsorship over that deity.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: I think so.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: Yeah, So it does cause a lot of problems, and
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: it's it's hysterical how they outsmart him and how they
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: how they how they basically, uh just outdo the system again.
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: Yeah, this is when the get the people running the
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: game get kind of well, no, they get pissed for
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: the next book never mind. Yeah, but they start paying
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: attention to Carl.
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: Now, Yeah, the chaosa day that Carl causes in floor four,
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: like really like it echoes down the line, like there's changes, like, uh,
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: it causes the eugenics party of the of the Quatin
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: to take over for the remainder of like the season,
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: and well they quote unquote the.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: Remainder mm hmm.
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: So they're uh, they're now all getting ready to go
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: down the stairs, to go down the stairs. Uh, they've
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: cleared all They pretty much cleared all the mobs.
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: They're dealing with the aftermath of just everything that's happened
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: in this floor. Like Katya is now more confident, but
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: she's still dealing with some lingering guilt for what she
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: did after killing Hecla. But then again not much guilt
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: because now that she knows that Hecla was using her
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: and like was a piece of shit, it's like, bitch,
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: who cares?
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: That bitch?
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: Right? That bitch? Uh donut, Her donut has leveled up more,
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: even though her constitution is still ship. Carl is now
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: one a legend, and he has more tools at his disposal,
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: including the anarchist cookbook. And now they have to face
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: new challenges because the Quatson replaced Zev as their handler
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: and get a new more bitchier and more controlling Quatson
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: named Loitsa.
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: So I hate.
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: Hate with Zev. They had like built some trust and
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: Zev for the most part had like a handle over
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: Carl and Donut like Carl still did where the fuck
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: they wanted, but it was in a like in the
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: right direction, yes, you could say, and they they could.
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: They felt like they could actually trust Zev because Zev
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: wasn't like feet, like, wasn't stewing that you know, all
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: of like the pr bullshit that a lot of like
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: handlers would spew to their to their crawlers.
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: But that did also get her in trouble.
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: So yeah, so unfortunately Zev gets sent to a re
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: education camp Lloyds. It takes over. They go down the
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: they go they finally go down the stairs into the
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: fifth floor and they find themselves in a new area.
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: So the fifth floor is interesting because the fifth floor
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: is now the first is a special kind of floor
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: because one it's now the first floor that crawlers who
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: have flight abilities can actually start flying. Yeah, they actually
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: start using xing it because like one crawler Imani, she
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: took on a race called it's Papaloto based off of
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: a Aztec goddess called the Obsidian butterflies. So she looks
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: like she's humanoid. She has like these tribal patterns on
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: her on her face, and she has a pair of
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: massive monarch wings and the wings do allow her to
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: fly but any floor, but on any floor below floor five,
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: she can't fly. Yeah, So the new floor that they
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: enter is a They find themselves in a massive biome
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: like a big bubble, and uh. They learned that the
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: bubble is divided into four quadrants air, land, water, and
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: subterranean mm hmm, and Carl and Donut are in the
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: air quadrant, but they find that they're quad They're standing
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: in the middle of a huge sandball on top of
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: like this huge massive rock formation pillar kind of deal.
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: And they learned that in order to be able to
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: pass this floor to go down into the stairwell, all
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: four quadrants of the bubble have to be cleared. So
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: if one is cleared and the other three aren't, they
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: can't go through. And until they clear their quadrant, they
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: can't move to one of the other two quadrants, one
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: of the other four one of the other three quadrants.
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: So that's gonna be the that's pretty much gonna be
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: the theme of the next of the next book. So
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: on floor five, it's like these bubble worlds. There are
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: hundreds of these. There's thousands of these bubble worlds all
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: like all throughout this level. And crawlers. All the crawlers
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: are divided into these kind of bubbles, so they're different.
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: Each one.
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: Each bubble has their own like little biome, their own
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: little like their own biome. So some have like a
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: jungle theme. Some are desert themes, so Carlin donuts there
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: and like an desert theme. Yeah, but.
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: In any case, the book three, that's book three.
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: That's book three, The Iron Dungeons, the Dungeon Anarchists Cookbook.
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: And I hope you guys liked it. I enjoyed this book.
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: It was a lot of time to read. Uh honestly,
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: it the the cookbook itself. I'm excited, yes, because because
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: there's a lot that happens later on in the book,
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: later on in the series especially, and it all comes
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: to ahead and book seven. Uh, mainly because of the
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: I'm not gonna spoil I'm not really gonna spoil it
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: for you, guys. Uh, let's just say that the that
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: the advice from the former Dungeon Anarchists that owned the
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: cookbook really helped Carl in book seven.
- 1:46:01Speaker 2: For y'all listening, I'm currently on book half about almost
- 1:46:04Speaker 2: halfway through book five. No spoilers, no spoilers, but thank
- 1:46:12Speaker 2: you all for listening today's episode on the third book
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: of the Dungeon Call Carl series, the Dungeon Anarchist Cookbook.
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: Dungeon Anarchists Cookbook. Hope you guys enjoy it. I certainly
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: enjoy it. You haven't picked up a copy yet, you can,
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: please do. You can pick up an e book, or
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: you can pick up the physical copy. I strongly recommend
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: the Ace Publisher's hardcover edition, mainly because it comes with
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: that extra little section at the end for the backstage
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: at the Pineapple Cavaret. It also comes with like neat
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: little illustrations too, Like there's not a lot of them,
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: but like right here it sometimes has like little extra illustrations,
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: so like this is like a kind of like a
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: rudimentary map of the Iron Tangle.
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: That's cool.
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: So so it's really good like, I'm that kind of
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: person that if I buy a specific if I buy
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: a book in a specific edition, and then I buy
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: the rest of the series in that same edition, so
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: they're all matching.
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: You can be like and my boyfriend get all the audiobooks,
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: ebooks and physical and the comic book when that comes out,
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: or the webtoon when that comes out. But uh, that
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: will be Dungeon Cral Carl for this month. Next month,
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: will do we'll be doing book four because we're gonna
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: be doing probably like one of my goal is, will
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: do like one a month.
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: But Dungeon Garlic Carl is an ongoing series. I've read
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: the This Inevitable Ruin, which is book seven when it
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: came out, uh, and it came out like last October. Yeah,
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: and now we have the next book coming out in
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: a few months. It's called The Parade of to the
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: Parade of Horribles.
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: Or yes, I think the preind of Horribles.
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: Yeah, so book eight. I'm excited because they're now on
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: book ten and it's kind of bittersweet because there's it's
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: the beginning.
- 1:48:11Speaker 2: Of Lord's Sponsored Levels.
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: Yeah, floor ten, Floor ten, God damn it, because floor
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: ten is the beginning is going to be the start
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: of the sponsored levels where crawlers can now take deals
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: to get out of the dungeon. So like after floor
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: nine already like a large number of crawlers have taken deals,
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: and like I said, floor nine was the first floor.
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: It was this was the first time in dungeon crawler
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: history where like over thirty thousand crawlers were had made
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: it to this far that point there was select by
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: that point there's usually less than ten thousand, and by
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: the end of the of that floor there's less than
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: there's even less than that, less than half of that.
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: Yeah, But tune in for the coming months for the
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: rest of the series, and then of course next week
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: I'm gonna be talking about a where it's gonna be
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: more of a traditional episode or two part possibly two
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: traditional traditional episode with the Ghosts in the Shell series,
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: I'm gonna be talking about Goes in the Shell goes
- 1:49:24Speaker 2: to show one point five, and then two, and then
- 1:49:28Speaker 2: of course, depending on how long it takes to go
- 1:49:31Speaker 2: through these three, we'll be talking about the animated feature,
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: the animated film from the nineties, and then of course
- 1:49:39Speaker 2: the twenty seventeen live action film that was released in
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: the United States, or that was that Hollywood made, so
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: we'll talk about that as well, But thank you all
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: for listening and catch on next time. Until then, it
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: was pieces as
