- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on. Uh-huh.
- 0:03Speaker 2: I sure will. Good morning, everybody. Y'all listening to The Voice.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Come on. Dig me now. One and only.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Steve Harvey. Got a radio show. Man, oh, man, oh, man.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I just, I have to tell you this. How good
- 0:23Speaker 2: is the God I serve? How amazing is he? That's,
- 0:29Speaker 2: that's all I, you know, and you know what, really, man,
- 0:32Speaker 2: when I try to explain, um, how I feel about
- 0:36Speaker 2: what he does for me, really the words that I
- 0:39Speaker 2: come up with that they just, they, they inadequate, man.
- 0:42Speaker 1: They don't, they don't cut it. They really don't. You know,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I can say amazing. At one time, I even just got,
- 0:48Speaker 1: I tried something real ignorant one time. I just said,
- 0:51Speaker 1: you know, God is just super casual, fragilistic, espialidocious. I
- 0:55Speaker 1: just tried that. See how that felt. That's, That's how
- 0:57Speaker 1: off the chain he is with me. I just try
- 0:59Speaker 1: to see how that felt. But then I ain't feel
- 1:01Speaker 1: right saying that. The fact that he's amazing and awesome.
- 1:06Speaker 1: He's an awesome God. You hear people say that. It's
- 1:09Speaker 1: bigger than that, too, man.
- 1:10Speaker 2: So, you know, as hard as I try, no matter
- 1:14Speaker 2: what I do every day, I'm going to come up
- 1:16Speaker 2: short with trying to explain to you exactly how he
- 1:19Speaker 2: works and how he is for me.
- 1:20Speaker 1: So I just thank him every day, every chance I get.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Here it is.
- 1:28Speaker 2: It is your determination and your effort. Listen to me carefully.
- 1:35Speaker 2: It is your determination and your effort. I think that
- 1:41Speaker 2: the average person, and I'm not knocking you, I just
- 1:44Speaker 2: want you to hear me out. I think what stops
- 1:47Speaker 2: the average person from becoming successful.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Is that we don't realize the effort that it takes.
- 1:55Speaker 1: And that's just truth.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I found that to be so true in my life
- 2:00Speaker 2: and my talking to people and meeting people and people
- 2:03Speaker 2: asking me questions about it and me trying to figure
- 2:06Speaker 2: out the way myself. I don't think that you really
- 2:10Speaker 2: can comprehend the effort that it takes to become successful.
- 2:16Speaker 2: This is the thing that you have to wrap your
- 2:18Speaker 2: mind around very quickly if you want to be successful
- 2:22Speaker 2: on any level in any area.
- 2:25Speaker 1: The dream is the beginning. Good Lord, let me tell
- 2:28Speaker 1: you something.
- 2:29Speaker 2: The determination and effort is massive. You cannot be overly
- 2:36Speaker 2: concerned with sleep. If you are a person who is
- 2:41Speaker 2: always concerned about sleep, get success out your mind. Ain't
- 2:45Speaker 2: finna happen, partner. It's not finna happen. You cannot be
- 2:49Speaker 2: that concerned about sleep. Now, listen to me. You have
- 2:53Speaker 2: to get your rest. But this was my philosophy. I'm
- 2:58Speaker 2: just sharing you with how I did it. My philosophy
- 3:03Speaker 2: was I stopped being concerned about sleep. I got my rest,
- 3:09Speaker 2: but I got just enough to get back to it.
- 3:14Speaker 2: And I got back on the grind, the hop and
- 3:16Speaker 2: the hustle. I got just enough rest so I could
- 3:20Speaker 2: go and put forth some more effort.
- 3:24Speaker 1: But listen to me.
- 3:25Speaker 2: You cannot sleep a third of your life away and
- 3:29Speaker 2: expect to become successful if you're not already successful. If
- 3:32Speaker 2: you are asleep for eight hours, that is a third
- 3:35Speaker 2: of your day. You cannot be asleep a third of
- 3:39Speaker 2: your life and expect to get successful. Now, after you
- 3:42Speaker 2: get successful, you know, you learn as you go to
- 3:47Speaker 2: work smarter, not harder. So as you get successful, you
- 3:52Speaker 2: may have eight hours available to you. But on the
- 3:55Speaker 2: way up there, I don't see how you can do it.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I promise you I don't. Now, somebody can come forward.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I did it.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I did it.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Probably lying, but okay. Tell your story.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Because everybody I know that's successful that I've sat down
- 4:09Speaker 2: and had real talks with, they wasn't concerned with sleeping.
- 4:14Speaker 1: You cannot be concerned with sleeping if you want to
- 4:18Speaker 1: be successful.
- 4:19Speaker 2: How?
- 4:20Speaker 1: How can this happen for you? Listen to me.
- 4:23Speaker 2: The effort that it requires is massive. It's an all
- 4:26Speaker 2: out assault on your dream. Now you got to make
- 4:29Speaker 2: an assault. It requires an all out assault on it.
- 4:33Speaker 2: And you can't be sleeping, fight at the same time.
- 4:36Speaker 2: You can't fight when you sleep. Man, I wish I
- 4:39Speaker 2: could get y'all to understand this right here. Understand that
- 4:43Speaker 2: the effort that is required to be successful will take
- 4:46Speaker 2: everything you have. And when you think you've given your all,
- 4:50Speaker 2: it's going to require some more. The quality of your
- 4:55Speaker 2: chill is amazing.
- 4:57Speaker 1: See, okay, listen to me.
- 4:59Speaker 2: What is sitting around having a beer every day for?
- 5:02Speaker 2: What is sitting around smoking weed for every day for?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Come on, man. For real?
- 5:10Speaker 2: But if you took that beer drinking, weed smoking, chill time,
- 5:14Speaker 2: and applied it to progressing yourself towards your dream, when
- 5:18Speaker 2: you do carve out a vacation, guess where you'll be
- 5:22Speaker 2: able to go? Guess what part of the world you
- 5:24Speaker 2: can go see. Guess how you can chill now. Now,
- 5:27Speaker 2: instead of you just driving every year, your family to
- 5:30Speaker 2: the family union, you sit at the same picnic table.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Everybody pool their money in. Ten families don't never pool
- 5:36Speaker 2: their money in. They down there eating like y'all eating.
- 5:39Speaker 2: You got attitude because they side don't ever chip in enough.
- 5:44Speaker 1: They down there eating extra potato salad and making plates.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You know, they're arguing about this every year. For real, man.
- 5:49Speaker 2: They ain't got the t-shirt money. You know, they got
- 5:53Speaker 2: the same t-shirt on. They ain't put in.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Really, man.
- 5:56Speaker 2: So, so, so, so, so you want that to be
- 5:58Speaker 2: it every year? Or do you want this year? I'm
- 6:02Speaker 2: taking my family to New Orleans. Or I'm taking my
- 6:06Speaker 2: family to see the Grand Canyon. I'm taking my family
- 6:08Speaker 2: down to the beach this year. Me and my family
- 6:11Speaker 2: going to go sightsee. We're going to go ride a
- 6:13Speaker 2: couple of rivers on Chicago. Me and my family going
- 6:16Speaker 2: to go skiing this year. Me and my family going
- 6:18Speaker 2: out to LA, man. We're going to go out there
- 6:21Speaker 2: for the weekend. You know, it can happen like that.
- 6:24Speaker 2: But if you ain't working, listen to me. Average effort
- 6:32Speaker 2: gets average results. That's all it is to it. See,
- 6:39Speaker 2: ordinary effort gets ordinary results. But if you put forth
- 6:47Speaker 2: an extra effort, See, the only difference between extraordinary and
- 6:52Speaker 2: ordinary is one word.
- 6:53Speaker 1: That's extra.
- 6:54Speaker 2: If you do extra, you can take ordinary right on
- 6:58Speaker 2: over to extraordinary.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Do you understand?
- 7:01Speaker 2: You have to have a massive assault on your dreams.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Quit sitting up in here, man, trying to chill all
- 7:06Speaker 2: the time. I'm sorry, man. I wish I could tell
- 7:08Speaker 2: you another way, but it ain't one. Here's what I did.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I wasn't concerned about how much sleep I got. I
- 7:16Speaker 2: just had to get my rest. And once I got
- 7:19Speaker 2: enough rest to get up and get the task done,
- 7:23Speaker 2: I got up. Somebody sent me a tweet the other day,
- 7:29Speaker 2: a partner of mine. He said, I'm going to see
- 7:31Speaker 2: if I can pull it up while I'm talking to you.
- 7:33Speaker 2: But he just sent me a little sign. Just a
- 7:35Speaker 2: little something to say, hey, man, I ran across this.
- 7:39Speaker 2: I thought about you and I sent it to you.
- 7:42Speaker 2: It said, no alarm clock needed. My passion wakes me.
- 7:49Speaker 2: It's in block print. He said, no alarm clock needed.
- 7:54Speaker 2: My passion wakes me. That's what you got to be about.
- 7:59Speaker 1: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
