Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Welcome to Life.
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: Finance and Real Estate, where we discuss how to make smart money moves, the ever-changing real estate market, and of course, things going on in life.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: And here to take a matter more with you is your host, Carly Loura.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to life.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: I'm at real estate with your girl Kirby the Realtor.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Yes, it is me.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: I'm Kirby the Realtor, and this is the show where we connect the dots between your decisions, your discipline, your money, and ownership.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: This episode to me is the shift episode because we're going to talk about are you actually adulting?
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Are you just playing adult?
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Let me slow this down for just a quick minute.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Because what we're going to talk about today, I'm not going to be on the surface to stroke your ego or anything.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: It's not going to be cute, nothing trendy, and no motivation to fluff.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: This is talking about pure destructure.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Are you adulting or are you just playing adult?
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Ask yourself that.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Because it starts in your habits.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Now, last week we talked about becoming the CFO of your life.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: What does CFO means?
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: The chief financial officer of your life.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Episode eight was called From Awareness to Action: Becoming the CFO of Your Life.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Have you become the CFO of your life since last week?
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: CFO, Chief Financial Officer.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: I need that to stick with you.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: And if you missed it, let me recap it for you.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: We said awareness was not enough.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: You're going to be aware that you overspend.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: You can be aware that you're an impulsive spender.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: You can be aware that you have debt up to your neck.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: I gotta test, I've been there.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: You can be aware that you need to save.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: But see, awareness without action changes what?
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Absolutely nothing.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: We talked about stepping into that role of CFO, the chief financial officer of your own life, which means you are no longer reacting, you're no longer guessing, you're no longer hoping, you're no longer waiting to see what is left at the end of the month.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: You are leading, you are signing, you are directing.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Listen, y'all, the CFO knows their numbers.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: The CFO makes decisions based on those numbers, and the CFO protects the future.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Not only emotions, but they protect the future.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: But today we're gonna take it a step further because becoming the CFO is a mindset.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And today's question in the mirror is are you actually adulting in your life or are you just plain adult?
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: And I need you to be honest.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Let's be honest.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: A lot of people are not adulting, they're performing adulthood.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: You know, the thing when we say, Oh, I can't wait to be grown.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: I can't wait to have my own house.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: You pay bills, you go to work, you show up, you survive, but you have no plan.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: You have no plan.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: You ain't playing nothing.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: And yes, that's improper English.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: And real adulting starts the moment you take control over your money.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: And I will say, y'all, I am 41 years old, and I just started really adulting.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Now, Kirby, what do you mean by that?
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Well, I just started taking control of my money.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: I just started becoming the actual CFO.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Even when I thought I was the CFO, I wasn't, I really did not have control over my money.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: When you start to real adult, you take control over your money.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying make more money.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying when you get a promotion, you become a CFO.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying when you buy a house or buy a vehicle or own a business, that still doesn't mean you are the CFO.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: You're not, that doesn't mean you are really starting to adult.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean that.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: When you take control, when you stop poping something is left at the end of the month, when you stop poping that that check you just wrote doesn't bounce, you and you start telling every dollar where to go.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: When you stop reacting and you start to plan, when you stop blaming someone for your what you did, the money that you spent it you shouldn't, when you start adjusting, adulting is not about how old you are.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: It's not.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Adulting is not about age, it is about simple responsibility.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: It's about taking that look in the mirror and saying, This is my life.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: This is my life.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: And the next 10 years will not look like the last 10 years.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Matter of fact, the next year will not look like the last year.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Take ownership of your life.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Let me make this plain so you understand.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: So people go to the grocery store with no plan, right?
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Think about it.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: When you go in the grocery store, no plan but a stomach.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: A lot can happen, right?
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: A lot can happen.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: You just start getting things that you don't need, and then it sits in the refrigerator and it's full, and you waste money.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: When you go to the grocery store without a plan or without a list, you become impossible.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, that looks good.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, I like this.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: And you pile all this stuff up in your buggy.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: I want you this week, I want you next week to go to the grocery store with a with a what do you call it?
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: A list, a list of things that you're gonna cook and actually use.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: And look and just see how much money you save.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: See how much money you save.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: See, events pop up, sales pop up, and emotions pop up too.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: And money, guess what happens with the money?
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: It disappears.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: And guess what?
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: That is not adulting.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Go to the grocery store with a plan.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: When you go with a plan, yeah, when you go with a plan, that's adulting.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: When you got that list and that notepad and you're checking it out, that's adulting.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: But if you go in there with no plan, you're just spending money, you're just reacting.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: See, real adulting sounds like this.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: How much money is coming in this month?
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: And if you're if you're on salary, if you know how much your check is every month, how much goes into that bank account, then it's easier for you to plan.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: If you're an entrepreneur and you don't really know, you can you have to project, have projections.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: What do I project my income?
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: What is projected?
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Where do I assign my money?
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: If I project this spending and I know that my budget is here and these are the bills, then you're assigning your money.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: What has purpose?
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Not I hope there's something left at the end of the month.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Because what I've been telling y'all, hope is not a strategy.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: Hope is beautiful, but hope without a plan is just emotions.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Hope is not a strategy.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Make a plan.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: Fill out your what I spend sheet.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: I promise y'all, it is so simple.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: What I spend, what I spend, track your spending, know where your money is going instead of trying to figure out where my money went.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: I remember one year I had the best year of my life in real estate sales, guys.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: And I looked at my my 1099 at the end of the year, I said, oh, I made a lot of money.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: But where'd that money go?
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: I knew I had expenses and I knew I had bills and I had debt and stuff, but I really could not say account for a lot of the money.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Where did it go?
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Imposter spending, not planning, going to the grocery store with our list, buying things, putting it in the freezer, not using it.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: It got a freezer burn.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Now I gotta throw it away.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: And guess what?
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: I just did.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: I threw money away.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: And I was not happy.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: So, yes, that is adulting.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: We throw that word adulting around like it's an automatic once you turn 18 thing.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: Like when you 18, you grown.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: Well, guess what?
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: It's not.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: We have people in their late 20s, their early 40s, not adulting.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: We have people that have the same mindset that they had 20 years ago, the same old excuses, the same blaming the same old people, the same reactions, the same guessing, but different ages.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: Being an adult is not about how old you are.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Being an adult is about planning and not guessing.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: It's about accountability.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: It is taking on responsibility and yet holding your own self accountable is deciding what tomorrow looks like instead of waking up being surprised by it.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Adulting is having control.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: It is managing your life, managing your money.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Listen, adult looks like this.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: Paying your bills on time every month.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: That's the part of adult.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Notice I said, paying your bills on time every month.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Having a spending plan for the entire month, building an emergency slash opportunity fund.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: What do you mean, Kirby?
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: That means you're saving money so when the opportunity comes available, you can pull from it and you don't miss out.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: If you have the money, emergency fund, putting money back for emergencies, setting financial goals, setting personal goals, setting spiritual goals and healthy goals, holding yourself accountable to those things.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Y'all, adulting looks like managing your money instead of money managing you.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: I see it.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Managing your money instead of money managing you.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Now let me tell you what adulting does not look like.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: I need y'all to guess.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: Think about what does adulting not, NOT, what does adulting not look like?
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: If you're always borrowing money, always calling mama, daddy, auntie, uncle to fix your financial gaps, making adult income but still making childish decisions.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: Now don't get me wrong.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: Don't get me wrong.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: Life happens and sometimes we have to get, we need help.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Don't get me wrong.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: I get it.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: But we cannot make adult income and keep our childish habits.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: That's why some people, so many people are stuck.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: They think they're adulting, but yet they're not.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: They're really not.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Real adulting is not, it's not glamour.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: It ain't fun.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: I tell my kids all the time, I can't wait to get grown.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: I said the same thing, but being grown comes with a whole lot more responsibility.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: Being grown comes with being disciplined.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: And when you're disciplined, discipline creates freedom.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: When you're disciplining your spending habits and discipline and setting goals and sticking to them and not getting off track, you're creating freedom.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: And listen, let's get practical.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: Grown conversation requires numbers.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: And a lot of people avoid the grown conversation.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: How much money comes in a month?
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: Do you know how much money comes in your household a month?
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Not roughly, but I'm talking about to the T, exactly.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: After taxes, after deductions, what comes in the home every month?
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: What are your real numbers?
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: And then look at your expenses, your fixed expenses.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: What do I mean by fixed expenses?
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: I mean things that do not change.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: Like you know your mortgage is$1,200 a month.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: That doesn't change.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: You know your rent is$1,500 a month.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: That doesn't change.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: You know that your insurance is$250,500 a month.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: It doesn't change.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: You know, health insurance, what it is, it doesn't change.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: You know what your car note is, it doesn't change.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: Out of your bank accounts and see what your subscriptions.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: Those things don't change.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: But then ask yourself, what are my variable expenses?
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, Kirby, what's variable expenses?
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: Let me help you out.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: Food.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: And we can control that.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: Remember, I told y'all when I did my what I spend sheet that I avoided for months that I had in my possession, and I had to track how much we were spending on food, whether it was going out to eat, whether it was groceries.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: We were spending over$2,000 a month.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: Almost three.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: On going out to eat, buying groceries.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: It changed, it fluctuated.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: I didn't know.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: I didn't, I didn't, I thought I was planning because I was like, well, I know I'm gonna cook, I'm gonna go to the store, but I didn't really plan out the meals.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Okay, this is what I'm gonna do.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna go to the grocery store, I'm gonna buy my ground beef, I'm gonna buy my chicken, I'm gonna buy this, my turkey, whatever.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: It helped me save money.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Okay, we're not gonna eat out, we're gonna eat leftovers.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: Buy frozen pizza instead of ordering pizza because as we know, if you order pizza hug dominoes, you're gonna spend$40 or$50.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: When I can go to Sam's Club, y'all, and get this big old pizza.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: This big old pizza from Sam's Club and spend$11 and it can feed my whole family.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Like 11 dogs.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: You can actually go to Sam's Club and buy.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: I don't like hot dogs, but you can buy hot dogs, ice cream, and a drink for$2.50.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: A slice of pizza and ice cream and a drink,$2.50.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: Anyway, I got on a little tanned, but variable expenses, food, eating out, impost spending, random convenience store purchase.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: When you stop by the store every day and get that honey bun and that coke for that energy drink and that bag of hot chips, or, you know, those are things that change.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: And this is where leakage highs.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: Your leakage hides in your variable expense, your leakage highs when you don't know your real numbers.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Leakage is silent wealth loss.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: What do you mean by that?
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Go through your checking account, just look where you're spending, how much money you're spending.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: Go get a Coke, go get coffee.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: I've actually fallen in love with my own coffee making at home as to where I used to be.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: I used to be a big Java Mow's person.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: If you live in the Hattiesburg area, you know Java Mow's coffee to me.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: I'm biased, but I love me some Java Mow's.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: But I was spending seven dollars a day.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: Seven dollars a day, five days a week.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: Come on, make it make sense.
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: What is your debt strategy?
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Are you attacking your debt?
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: Are you tolerating?
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Here's the real question.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: If your income stopped for 90 days, 90.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Listen, y'all, just last year, my income stopped for 60 days because of the shutdown.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: We're talking about 90 days.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: What happens?
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: Do you have a cushion?
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: Or do you have complete chaos?
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: Do you lose everything?
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: And that question alone, right there, if your income stopped for 90 days, what happens?
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: That question alone separates playing adulting from being an adult.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: So playing an adult or being an adult?
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: That question.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Do you have a cushion?
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: Or do you have chaos?
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Ask yourself that.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: Listen, there are people 65, 70, and 80 years old still living.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: And that means your future is long.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: People live to be 100, 102.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: Most 25-year-olds are not thinking 50 years ahead.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: They're not.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: Most 40 years olds are not thinking 20 years ahead.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: They're thinking about the weekend.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: Real adulting is asking, will my children start at zero?
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: Will my family inherit confusion?
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: Will my next 10 years be like my last?
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: See, what people don't realize is that ownership started long before real estate began or started.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Ownership, it starts in your discipline.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: It starts in your discipline.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: Let me say this clearly.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: And it's not just what you keep, but it's what you control.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: See, a donut is a series of micro adjustments.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: Audit, adjust, align, repeat.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: Audit, adjust, align, repeat.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: You don't need to make a million dollars tomorrow.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: You need to respect the money you have today.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: Respect your efforts.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: Respect your work.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: Respect your future.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Because when you respect your money, you stop wasting your future.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: Remember that.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Respect what you have today.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: It ain't, it ain't, it's it ain't about being perfect.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: It's just about understanding what adulting really looks like.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Because it ain't easy being an adult.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: Like, oh my gosh.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: I just, I could think, I don't know how old I was.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: I started working at like, I'm just like, we started working when we were very young because my dad owned business and we cleaned cars for money.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: We mowed people's yards for money.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: I remember a time when Big Macs was two for two.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Y'all, we couldn't wait to finish mowing the yards on Friday.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: We used to go over Mo Miss Hubbard's yard with my dad every Friday.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: And we'd go mow her yard.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: And then after that, we could get two Big Macs.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: And I was greedy back then, y'all.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: So just know this little scrawling girl ate two Big Macs.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: But I ate two Big Macs.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: Because one wasn't enough for me.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: I had a high metabolism.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: And I would be so excited and take that$5 we made and go eat some McDonald's.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: But my daddy always made sure we put back our tithes and um had offering, and then you buy your food.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: Like, but that was a treat for us.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: But I started working then.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: So I don't, I don't know what it feels like to not work, but I do know what it feels like not to have control over your money.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: I know what it feels like not to have control over your financial future.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: I know what it feels like not to know what comes, what is actually coming in and going out of my house to the teeth.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: I can tell you I used to get so upset with my financial advisor.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: When they would ask me, how much money comes in?
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: What's in your projections?
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: How much, what did you make last year?
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: I'm like, how do you expect me to remember what I made?
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: Like, I need to look at it.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: And he wouldn't let me skate.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: Like he was like, no, you need to know this off the top of your head.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: You don't need to go back and look.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: These are things you need to know.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: You need to know them.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: I'm like, mmm, okay.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: And I said, okay, for a few months.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: And then it finally clicked.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: You know, sometimes it just takes a while.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: But it finally clicked as I was going through my numbers and I was just going through trying to figure out how I could be a better leader, better business owner, better, a better person, period.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: When it came to money.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: It clicked.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: He's right.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: If he says, Kirby, where were your numbers of last December?
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: What were your numbers this?
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: I should know those numbers.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: What do you spend monthly on XYZ?
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: I should have known those numbers.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: Now I know those numbers.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: I know how much it takes to live.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: I know what my lifestyle looks like.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: Ask yourself this too.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: What's your freedom number?
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: What's your freedom number for you to feel free in life and to do things?
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: What does that number look like?
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna be honest, y'all.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: Last year is when it all actually just finally clicked and turned on.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: And that's why I created this show because I'm like, you know, people need to know.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: So as I'm learning, I'm not all the way there.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: I am not.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: I'm not trying to make it seem like I got it all figured out because I'm yet learning.
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: And I'm always gonna stay teachable and cultureable.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: But I want to help you shorten your learning curve.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: I want to help you figure it out.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: So it's not too late.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: Here I am at that time, 40 years old, like the black bulb came on.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: Every year before that, it was little by little, but it was like something happened in the year 40 for me.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: There was a shift.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: There was a mindset shift from personal, even into my business.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: Just in and it was a mindset shift.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: For me, I had to adjust, align, and repeat.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: And yeah, sometimes it's painful.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's painful.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: Sometimes making that list is so it's dreadful.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: It's like, oh my gosh, now I gotta sit down.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: I got one more thing on my list.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: But when you make a list, life moves a little smoother because you got a plan.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: You have a plan.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: The Bible tells us about having a plan.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: You need to plan.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: What does the Bible say about planning?
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: I need you guys to really own your habits, own your discipline, own your numbers, own your future.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: It's about being radical enough to say I will not let the next 10 years look like the last 10 years.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: I will not make adult income and make childish decisions.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: I will not hope my way into my future.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: I will plan, I will assign, I will manage because when you take control of your money, you take control of your life, and when you take control of your life, you stop reacting and you start leading.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: Y'all listen, it's been real.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: I've enjoyed talking with y'all today.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: We're gonna start having some guests come on.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: And if you need that word I speak sheet, send me an email to Kirbythereltor at gmail.com.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: I want to hear from you guys.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: I want to hear.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: I get text messages.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: And for those that sends me text, that send me text and encouraging messages and emails.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: Thank you, thank you so, so, so very much.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: Even the Facebook inboxes.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: People I don't even know, and I just want you to know it means the world to me.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: And if you're doing your homework, send me an email, let me know how it's going.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: If you save that$5 a week or that$20 a month, let me know.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: Because guess what?
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: It starts with habits.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: You're small things.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: Start small.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: You don't have to start big.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: If you don't have$100 to put back a month, that's okay.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: You may have 20.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: But guess what?
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: At least you start it.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: At least you start it.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: Make a plan.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: Write it down.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: Tell God what you want.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: Tell him what you're expecting.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Y'all, this is life finance in real estate.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: Where we do not just talk about ownership, we build it.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: And if nobody tells you today, you are capable of more, but only if you are willing to inspect your life honestly.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: Be honest with yourself.
