- 0:00Speaker 1: So, another trip around the sun and another block auction
- 0:03Speaker 1: is upon us.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Time flies.
- 0:05Speaker 3: Time flies, especially when you're building a house. The auction
- 0:09Speaker 3: is this Sunday night for us. It's on this weekend.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Scott Cam is with us.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Good morning, Scotty.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Morning, Scotty. Morning, guys. It doesn't go quick if you
- 0:18Speaker 2: spend three months with them.
- 0:19Speaker 1: That's true.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Seven days a week.
- 0:20Speaker 1: That's true.
- 0:21Speaker 4: There would be some days that would drag a little,
- 0:23Speaker 4: I guess.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Now, Scott, you've been doing this a while, but this
- 0:26Speaker 3: is the first time we go in knowing the reserves.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I know, new Victorian rules, which started last weekend. Yeah.
- 0:34Speaker 2: So it's only a week old.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:36Speaker 2: And so we're really guinea pigs in this situation. We're
- 0:39Speaker 2: not sure how it's going to affect us or how
- 0:41Speaker 2: it's going to affect them. It's sort of an unknown territory.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Yeah, because it wasn't in the planning meeting at the beginning,
- 0:48Speaker 4: was it?
- 0:48Speaker 3: No.
- 0:49Speaker 2: No, not at all. And so you've got to reveal
- 0:52Speaker 2: your reserves a week before to everybody. Yep. And, of course,
- 0:56Speaker 2: the auction will... As long as you've got two buyers, well,
- 1:00Speaker 2: then it doesn't matter what the reserve is.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Two people to battle it out.
- 1:02Speaker 2: They'll fight it out if they want it. Yeah.
- 1:04Speaker 1: So we know the reserve is $ 3. 45 million.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:09Speaker 1: How nervous are you given the market and the price
- 1:11Speaker 1: point of these homes?
- 1:13Speaker 2: Always nervous. You know, the next 48 hours is going
- 1:16Speaker 2: to be pretty tough, and it always is. We wake
- 1:19Speaker 2: up feeling a bit sick in the stomach. We've got
- 1:21Speaker 2: no control over the day, which is quite bizarre. It's
- 1:24Speaker 2: our grand finale, and it's the most important show of
- 1:27Speaker 2: the year, and we've got no control over it. Yes.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Because, as Lisa was alluding to there, the market has
- 1:33Speaker 4: changed so much since the last series. It's changed a
- 1:36Speaker 4: lot since this series got underway. I mean, there might
- 1:42Speaker 4: be a bit of going back to the drawing board
- 1:44Speaker 4: for the next series after, you know, with the current
- 1:46Speaker 4: market situation.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Absolutely. We've got the interest rates going up. We've got
- 1:52Speaker 2: budget issues from the top dogs.
- 1:57Speaker 4: We won't name names, but you know who they are.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah. And which makes it difficult for people to commit
- 2:05Speaker 2: to spending a few mil on a house or even,
- 2:08Speaker 2: you know, three and a half, four. Right. So anyway, look, again,
- 2:12Speaker 2: but they're great homes. Yeah. They're really well built. They're beautiful.
- 2:16Speaker 2: They've got beautiful views. Mount Eliza's a great town. I
- 2:20Speaker 2: loved living there for three months. It was fantastic. And so,
- 2:24Speaker 2: you know, we're confident. We've certainly got interest. There's no
- 2:28Speaker 2: doubt about that.
- 2:28Speaker 3: And it's a little bit niche in being Mount Eliza
- 2:30Speaker 3: and having those views and everything. And so, you know,
- 2:33Speaker 3: it's not necessarily going to be governed by what is
- 2:37Speaker 3: going on with the market.
- 2:38Speaker 1: That's always going to be its own market, I guess.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Now, if we can talk about our WA hopes, Lisa
- 2:44Speaker 3: and Roscoe, they came in with less building experience than
- 2:46Speaker 3: some of the others but hung in there. What impressed
- 2:49Speaker 3: you the most about Lisa and Roscoe? I thought their
- 2:52Speaker 3: work ethic was pretty amazing.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Work ethic was fantastic. They're terrific people. They're great family people,
- 2:57Speaker 2: great husband and wife, great mum and dad. We really
- 3:00Speaker 2: love them. I thought they were just terrific young people
- 3:03Speaker 2: having a crack. And that's what I love to see. And,
- 3:07Speaker 2: you know, I told him so. I said, you know,
- 3:09Speaker 2: it doesn't matter what happens. You've done a great job.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Australia loves you. Perth loves you. WA loves you, I mean. And,
- 3:15Speaker 2: you know, I'm really hoping that they're going to do well.
- 3:17Speaker 2: And the other thing about Lisa was she did the
- 3:18Speaker 2: whole bloody thing pregnant.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I know.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Still had to carry stuff.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Still carrying stuff.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Because, of course, you would be so tired in the
- 3:26Speaker 3: time that she was doing this.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Of course, I wouldn't know that, but I'm assuming you are.
- 3:33Speaker 3: I'm assuming as well from what I hear on the street.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I mean, they had a few hiccups along the way,
- 3:39Speaker 2: but that's all right. That is the block. But they
- 3:42Speaker 2: always tried. She did have a bit of a teary
- 3:44Speaker 2: week once and budget issues at the beginning. I told
- 3:48Speaker 2: them they didn't ever listen. No one listens to me.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Don't stop spending money. Reign it in and you'll have
- 3:53Speaker 2: some at the end. Of course, no one reigns it
- 3:54Speaker 2: in and they've got no money at the end.
- 3:55Speaker 3: She had an almost perfect score that teary week. That
- 3:59Speaker 3: had to be preggy sort of emotions. Look, it's all
- 4:02Speaker 3: happening this weekend. All will be revealed by Sunday night.
- 4:06Speaker 3: We'll know who's got what and who's having a beer
- 4:09Speaker 3: and who's having a cry.
- 4:11Speaker 1: And I think you'll be doing both of those things, Scott.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Scotty, we know you're not allowed to tip a winner,
- 4:15Speaker 4: but who do you think will win?
- 4:18Speaker 2: You know, I love them equally like my children.
- 4:20Speaker 4: There's no favourites.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Scott, have a nice break next week after it's all over.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I will do. I'm looking forward to it. I'm going
- 4:29Speaker 2: to head down the coast and chill out for a
- 4:30Speaker 2: little bit.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Yeah, good idea. Good idea.
- 4:33Speaker 2: You've earned it.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Rest that narration voice. Okay, Scotty, thank you so much.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And we'll see you before you know it.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yep. See you, mate. See you.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Bye.
- 4:42Speaker 2: See you.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Bye.
