- 0:29Yeah, trying my best at the minute.
- 0:31You like raisins, strawberries, blueberries.
- 0:34Fantastic.
- 0:35Proud of you.
- 0:36Thank you.
- 0:37You're looking good, sweet cheeks.
- 0:40Is that enough light that you want me to bang my lights on?
- 0:43I'd throw another light on if you've got it.
- 0:48Yeah, there we go.
- 0:51While we're on the topic of brekkie, Tony, I saw a clip of you this week ordering a coffee.
- 0:56What on earth is that?
- 0:57A caramel oat milk mochettino did you get?
- 1:00An oat milk caramel macchiato.
- 1:03That's shocking, that.
- 1:05Your coffee order sounds like a Chelsea player.
- 1:07Do you understand what it is?
- 1:10So it's oat milk with basically three shots of coffee and some caramel sauce in it.
- 1:14Okay, the three shots of coffee, that's like, okay, I get that bit.
- 1:17But caramel?
- 1:19Did you say three shots of coffee in that clip, Dalton?
- 1:21Yeah.
- 1:22That's what it is.
- 1:23I haven't seen the clip.
- 1:24I don't really watch myself, but it's embarrassing watching myself back, so I've got no intention of watching that.
- 1:29It is funny, to be fair, but I do agree with Charlie.
- 1:32That's woke nonsense, not having caramel in your coffee.
- 1:34Liam, do me a favour and fuck right off.
- 1:36If you agree with Charlie Parsons, you can fuck right off.
- 1:40the host union go stick together no fucking Jesus Christ you kids I was surprised you had coffee to be honest you don't like stuff that doesn't taste nice do you no I don't but it's just something that needs to be done because I'm tired all the time I've got too many kids that's what happens mate they just take the fucking soul out of you
- 2:02Is that why you were bad at golf the last two?
- 2:05We played twice this week, haven't we?
- 2:08Yeah, and you've been beat well and truly.
- 2:11So yeah, I'm going to claim that victory again.
- 2:14I got beat yesterday.
- 2:15Yeah, you did.
- 2:16I paid for your breakfast yesterday.
- 2:18Yeah, you did.
- 2:19I blame my son for that though.
- 2:21Don't you dare.
- 2:22He's a newbie.
- 2:24Don't you bloody dare.
- 2:25That young man tried his best.
- 2:27I played well in pairs.
- 2:28It wasn't me.
- 2:29It was him.
- 2:30Oh, my word.
- 2:31He's thrown for a hundred bucks.
- 2:33We've had a serious chat when we got home.
- 2:35Have you ever expected?
- 2:36Was it like teams, was it?
- 2:38It was me and my eldest Cole against Tony and a man named Dave.
- 2:42Okay, fair.
- 2:44And Tony got giddy on the first tee, said, come on, we'll play for breakfast.
- 2:48I knew he must have...
- 2:50He also turned around to his playing partner.
- 2:53So me, Tony and Cole have got official handicaps.
- 2:56Turned around to Dave and said, what are you playing off, Dave?
- 2:58He said, just give me whatever Cole's off.
- 3:01He parred the first five holes.
- 3:05and ended up with 21 points on the front nine and I'm thinking just give him hey he ended up with 36 points or something and then went out there you go I hit my handicap anyone who plays golf will tell you that's not supposed to happen you're not supposed to rock up and get your handicap every time Liam what did I hit what did I hit since the second time I played in six weeks
- 3:2434?
- 3:24Yes.
- 3:2534 points?
- 3:26So is that basically your handicap as well?
- 3:28And you've missed that extra shot on the hole?
- 3:29No, that's good, that, because you never quite got there.
- 3:3235 points I got, not 34, because you've missed the hole.
- 3:35You never quite got there, so that's all right.
- 3:37Plus, you play off like 28, don't you?
- 3:39So that just means you went around to 100.
- 3:40You both know, Leon.
- 3:41Don't throw stones, mate, because some of them land and hurt.
- 3:48I play off 17.
- 3:49LAUGHTER
- 3:52Your son has been playing for 18 months, plays off 16.
- 3:54Absolutely fantastic.
- 3:55But it doesn't matter because, you know, listen, after going into the third hole, I was one under.
- 4:00So, you know.
- 4:01Yeah, he parted the first, Birdie the second.
- 4:03And by the way, he missed Birdie put on the first as well.
- 4:08But I've seen you fall, I've seen you in that position, I've seen you fall apart before on the golf course, as soon as they get in your head.
- 4:13Thanks for that.
- 4:14As soon as he starts talking.
- 4:15It's part of the capter role.
- 4:17So, you know, on the third hole, I think I hit a six, which was fantastic, you know what I mean, because he starts talking then.
- 4:22He didn't like the fact that I was one under after two and then thought, yeah, we're going to have to start now.
- 4:27If you're going to bring up the third hole, the course helped you out as you topped your three wood and it hit a piece of wood and bobbled all the way down the path.
- 4:35and somehow ended up 60, 70 yards in front on the fairway.
- 4:39Can we leave it alone now?
- 4:40This is our golf channel, not our golf channel.
- 4:43So anyway, Liam, we played in a golf charity event, didn't we?
- 4:50Yeah.
- 4:50In honour of Southport last week.
- 4:51Yeah, that was my first time in six weeks.
- 4:53I was absolutely woeful.
- 4:55Yeah, he was, yeah.
- 4:56So how's he won that one?
- 4:58We were on the same team.
- 4:59We were on the same team.
- 5:00We were trying to help each other for once.
- 5:02Buddies that day.
- 5:03I worked out.
- 5:04I've now figured, I think I've figured golf out now.
- 5:07Just leave the driver at home, simple as that, and have one.
- 5:09If I leave the driver at home, I've won.
- 5:11Yeah, he knows that now.
- 5:14You can call me a girl all you want because you don't need to drive her.
- 5:17Get her three-wood out, and I'm hitting three-woods further than they're hitting drivers.
- 5:20Yeah, I can see that.
- 5:21I don't know about that.
- 5:22Well, it happened twice.
- 5:24It happened twice.
- 5:25You're more accurate, yeah.
- 5:26It happened twice, Liam.
- 5:28I drove by three-woods.
- 5:30So me and Tony have had a busy week.
- 5:31I've seen you've been on the radio, haven't you?
- 5:33I mean, this last week or the week before.
- 5:35I did, yeah.
- 5:36I jumped in with Julia Bull.
- 5:38Yeah, so that was on deadline day.
- 5:41But that was like a few hours before all the chaos.
- 5:43Yeah, Liam's doing the amazing side radio on that zone.
- 5:46Well done, mate.
- 5:48Yeah, yeah.
- 5:49Big noise.
- 5:49I hope you were pushing OTB on there, mate.
- 5:53We were, we were.
- 5:54That's when it came up.
- 5:54Liam Kisseltzen, outside the box.
- 5:56Fantastic.
- 5:58Yeah, but no, Julia was great as well.
- 5:59She invited us on just to chat a little bit about Everton's deadline day.
- 6:03And at that point, it actually looked quite solid.
- 6:05To be fair, it looked like we were going to get Balogun.
- 6:09Betts have hadn't gone yet and all sorts of different things.
- 6:11Jack was coming back in and then, yeah, I'm glad I went on at like 10 to 11 on that point.
- 6:17But yeah, Ozzy, you were in the boardroom, weren't you, for the weekend?
- 6:20How was that?
- 6:22pretty good actually the boardroom I mean the stadiums what are you laughing for?
- 6:27I'm not just laughing the stadiums amazing so the boardroom is is special and we were in there with with Hibbo they invited us both as guests and they put this big sort of
- 6:44Not presentation, but they put this big montage of our footage at the club up on the TV for the first hour of it, which was kind of embarrassing.
- 6:54But yeah, it was good.
- 6:55They presented us with a gift as well.
- 6:58The game went brilliant.
- 6:59What did you get?
- 7:00What was the gift?
- 7:00I want to know.
- 7:02An action picture of myself with you.
- 7:06Which, the funny thing was, though, I got an action.
- 7:08The picture they presented me in the lovely effort box was a really nice touch.
- 7:14It was me running away, celebrating after I'd scored.
- 7:17I think I was trying to work it out against Lille in the UEFA Cup when I run to the corner flag the night I did the karaoke on the corner flag.
- 7:26the picture they gave of Hibbo was you know at the start of the season when you pose for pictures and like we're at Goodison at the stadium and he's there with his foot on the ball doing a doing a pose like this where's that come from surely it should have been his free kick well it should have been an action picture of something but bloody hell I laughed at that that was a good it was a good day um
- 7:52I had a chat with Rishi after the game.
- 7:57I felt like it was a little bit of a, not kind of a telling off.
- 8:01Listen to you, son.
- 8:04As much as I wanted to have a chat to assure me that the ownership of doing everything they can.
- 8:13But actually to state, yeah, he was disappointed that I was a little bit negative last week, which
- 8:18I was.
- 8:19I was venting.
- 8:20As we all know, we were all a little bit pingy, uptight.
- 8:25Yeah, so I basically just accepted I was very passionate, but also that at times I'm going to do that.
- 8:32At times I'm going to be passionate.
- 8:35And as much as you listen to me and Tony quite regular, we do have the clubs back 99% of the time.
- 8:43We look for reasons why the club make decisions and the ownership make decisions.
- 8:48And occasionally we, uh, uh, our emotions take over, don't they?
- 8:52Yes, they do.
- 8:53Yeah.
- 8:54So that was just a, it was just a nice chat.
- 8:55I was really pleased he, he, he come and had the chat and, and, and assured us that, um,
- 9:01They are doing everything that they can to take the club back to where they want it to be.
- 9:05So that was nice, actually.
- 9:07It made me realise that they didn't avoid it.
- 9:10They didn't walk away.
- 9:11Literally got right in my face about it and said, look, despite what you're saying, this is what we're trying to do.
- 9:17So, yeah, I actually liked that.
- 9:19I had a lot of respect for that.
- 9:21But, yeah, it was a great day.
- 9:22The result was amazing.
- 9:23Well, the result was great.
- 9:252-2 win, mate.
- 9:26Just like the Derby again, 2-2 win.
- 9:28Another 2-2 win.
- 9:29There's nothing better than a 2-2 win.
- 9:32last minute goal again but it's good that's not word then it's good that he spoke to you that's very good and I'd love him to come on because he's a really nice fella I did I asked him to come on the pod because he was saying about you know the way you speak and you know you have your opinions and this and I was obviously saying I've got this opinion that opinion and we're talking and I told him come on have you got your opinion come on the podcast he was like
- 9:58If it was just you, I would.
- 10:00But I'm not going on there if Tony's on there.
- 10:01Jesus Christ.
- 10:04Do you know what?
- 10:05He was doing it laughing.
- 10:06He was doing it laughing.
- 10:08Do you know what?
- 10:10He's a lovely fella.
- 10:11And I have no doubt in my mind they're doing the best that they can.
- 10:14But I wish someone had just explained it to fans in layman's terms.
- 10:17Because I'm sure it's very difficult to explain what's going on behind the scenes at the club.
- 10:22And what they've actually got themselves into.
- 10:24I'm sure it is very difficult.
- 10:25Financially, there's probably repercussions that they've had to take on board.
- 10:30As I think about this PSR nonsense, I'm sure, I mean, I'm almost 99% sure we are in some trouble with PSR because that's why we've had to sell certain players.
- 10:41You know, I don't think it was any, it's not a coincidence that you sell an Anderson Armstrong for 40 quid and then you've agreed to sell Illuminati for 65.
- 10:48Because it kind of makes up to the same amount of money that was needed.
- 10:52Because what we bought them in the end of the day for and what we're selling them for, it kind of works back and tracks back to around the £40 million mark.
- 10:58So it's quite obvious from the outside looking in that we need £40 million to bounce the books.
- 11:03And I would just wish, you know, if a nimwit like me
- 11:07can work that out from the outside looking in then I'm sure you know there's some seriously clever Evertonians out there I know we don't like to claim that we are but there is really some and us three aren't on them us three aren't one of them boys just before you put your hand up and you think you're in class we're not one of them by the way I thought you were about to say us three aren't five of them doing your match the way you do it
- 11:30But it's just, I wish they'd just come out and talk to us or just send someone out because it's just frustrating.
- 11:39And once you had someone come out, you just go, listen, this is what we've got to say.
- 11:43There's the statement and that's it.
- 11:45We're not going to elaborate on it.
- 11:47We're not going to go on about it.
- 11:48We're not here to be questioned, sat down.
- 11:50We're doing our best for the club.
- 11:51And I think, listen, they obviously are doing the best for the club because it's in their interests to do the best thing for the club.
- 11:57Otherwise, their thing's not going to grow.
- 12:01They haven't come here to lose.
- 12:03They haven't come here to lose money, and they haven't come here to lower us in position because that's ultimately going to lose the money.
- 12:08They've come here to grow Everton Football Club.
- 12:10They've come here to make it a better, you know, enterprise, whatever you want to call it.
- 12:14They've come here to make us better.
- 12:16And they're very successful business people.
- 12:18You know, the Freakton Group owns serious amounts of...
- 12:23of major companies in America.
- 12:25I mean, I believe they own Toyota.
- 12:28If I'm right, I believe Toyota's the biggest retailer in the whole of America in cars.
- 12:32That's nuts.
- 12:33That's just insane.
- 12:34They own Roma Football Club.
- 12:36So it's not like it's the first rodeo.
- 12:39We just, what I will say is, it's the first time they're ever gonna deal with fans like this.
- 12:44That's what I will say.
- 12:46Because Everton fans are different to everyone else.
- 12:48You know, dealing with scousers is different to dealing with everyone else.
- 12:52you know, you've got fellas who scream, shout and vent.
- 12:54But ultimately, they do it from a place of passion and love.
- 12:57They don't do it from a point of, hey, we want you out.
- 13:00We do it from a place of, please just tell us.
- 13:03And anything you tell us, we can get through because we're all strong enough.
- 13:07So hopefully that's the way forward.
- 13:08What I did hear from, not from Richie, but from an unnamed source, shall we say, at the game at the weekend was that,
- 13:20I mean, I'll give you probably a bit more detail of what I've heard about the Balogun transfer, but he did fail his medical, according to us, and we tried to negotiate different things and all of that.
- 13:34But then the ownership said,
- 13:37I don't care.
- 13:38I don't care.
- 13:38Let's push this through anyway.
- 13:40We're prepared to pay for him and gamble because they knew the importance of just basically getting a player in.
- 13:46And they, so the reason that the deal got reignited was not because he suddenly passed his medical test.
- 13:53It was because the owners said, we need someone.
- 13:56Let's pay.
- 13:56Let's just pay and get him in.
- 13:58Which I actually think is...
- 14:00Brave.
- 14:01Brave, yeah, because that's obviously a gamble because...
- 14:04I was going to say, a risk as well.
- 14:07It's a risk, yeah.
- 14:08And yet, I think they knew...
- 14:10I think that's probably why they were frustrated with me and us in terms of they probably tried to gamble one in there and it may turn out to be a good bet not taken, so to speak, because the whole thing sounded...
- 14:26a bit shady in terms of he turned up, he was supposed to get an eight o'clock flight in the morning and his representatives phoned and said, we're not getting that one, we're going to get an 11, half 11 flight.
- 14:36So we're going to get there middle of the afternoon, which now means that, you know, four or five hours of you taking it easy and going through the medical tests are gone for the sake of no one was explaining.
- 14:47And then they got there and found that
- 14:50He'd been, since the World Cup, he'd not trained.
- 14:54He'd had three weeks off after the World Cup.
- 14:57And then in the five weeks prior to that, he'd done a couple of jogs on his own.
- 15:02and Everton were asking for the data and all of that, and they basically couldn't show it.
- 15:10And when they did present it, it was, you know, I think I've walked harder and further in the last couple of weeks.
- 15:17Then his data was going to show.
- 15:19A couple of jokes on his own.
- 15:20It's like Sunday leave.
- 15:22Yeah, that his data was going to show.
- 15:25So, yeah, and yet they...
- 15:30He then seems, they did, so they wanted to do further exploration, exploratory tests.
- 15:37They did.
- 15:39Turns out this issue with the knee came up.
- 15:41They started to go, oh no, you know, this is too much and he's not trained and he's got the knee and we might have to look elsewhere.
- 15:50And then they spoke to the club.
- 15:53So at this point they think we can't get this over the line.
- 15:56He's not done.
- 15:57So that's when they went and spoke to other, tried to speak to other people.
- 16:00He went for a walk.
- 16:03So basically when the club then came back and said, let's get this over the line, he went for a walk around the training ground, pitch black, 20 past 11 at night, and the club couldn't find him.
- 16:13And they phoned him and said, come back, we need to chat with you.
- 16:16And he was like, not too sure.
- 16:18And then they eventually got him back, convinced him, or they thought convinced him to get this done.
- 16:25And then he turned around and said, you just haven't been nice enough to me, which the club...
- 16:29the medical department and the people within the club, apparently, weren't disappointed with that, considering what his scans and that were showing, which has kind of showed that he's gone back to Monaco in the situation he's found himself in, not training and all that, or having a situation.
- 16:49But as I said, at that point, they've got reignited because the ownership said, let's try and pay.
- 16:54Let's try and get this over the line.
- 16:55We need a striker.
- 16:55So it really...
- 16:59it really looks bad on the player for me.
- 17:02It really does.
- 17:03And I said this last week, I said if that was the situation, I know people are coming out saying the club should have known and the club should have gone bad and maybe the club should have tried to do it two days earlier, but that's just not the way it goes in...
- 17:14in transfer.
- 17:15Everything just gets squeezed into the last day.
- 17:17And then he delayed his flight by a good few hours to make it more difficult.
- 17:21Then he came with an issue.
- 17:23I mean, it makes, it all stinks of, he knew all of his issues and he's tried to squeeze the club into a certain moment.
- 17:29And then when the club has, when the club have become a little bit vocal and panicky on it, he's then said, well, you just don't love me enough, which, which,
- 17:37Seems very modern generation.
- 17:39He's obviously turned up here, not fit.
- 17:41He's obviously turned up not fit and he's thought, right, I'm going to try and blag this.
- 17:44Yeah, 100%.
- 17:45I think he shit himself.
- 17:47He started to blag it and go, listen, I'm not fit, but I will be fit in a couple of weeks, let's say.
- 17:52And we need someone to hit the ground running, which is,
- 17:56Which is worrying to be honest but listen back what we've got and you know we've just got to keep going mate.
- 18:03Tien O'Barry's been trying his bollocks off and working and working and working
- 18:08He scored four goals in four games.
- 18:10I know we were all harping on, but that's just the way it is.
- 18:13He scored four goals in four games.
- 18:15I know three of them were against the championship team, but I don't care, the four goals.
- 18:19So we've just got to get him back on the score sheets, back him, and hope for the best.
- 18:24Like I said, that result on Sunday epitomises Everton Football Club.
- 18:31We are in it till the end.
- 18:32The right man is in charge.
- 18:34You know what I mean?
- 18:35They were fighting till the very end.
- 18:37Backs against the wall.
- 18:39Just keep going.
- 18:39I mean, Jack Grealish, when he come on, assists huge.
- 18:44Jack, Jackie boy being back is massive.
- 18:46It really is.
- 18:47Like, I can't explain how important he is to the football club.
- 18:52I just really hope we can keep him, mate.
- 18:53I really do.
- 18:54Because, well, it's going to be virtually impossible because everyone's going to want that lad.
- 18:58He is going to shine this season in Everton Football Club.
- 19:01And with Illy now gone,
- 19:03I mean, I did say to you, I hate to say I told you so, but I told you Tyreek George was going to have a big year, boys.
- 19:08You did.
- 19:09You did.
- 19:10You put him down for young player this season.
- 19:12I'm telling you, mate, it's going to happen.
- 19:14That boy has got a serious ability.
- 19:17And if he just keeps believing in himself and getting on that pitch to make a difference every time, he'll do it.
- 19:22Because he's a player who can make a difference in a game.
- 19:24He's a player who's brave enough to have a go at you.
- 19:28and he's not scared to lose it.
- 19:29And I think that's half the battle with these young players.
- 19:32They're scared to get the ball and express themselves and go at them because they're just told, pass, move, pass, move, let's create a 2v1 situation.
- 19:38No.
- 19:39You know what, kid?
- 19:39Be brave.
- 19:41Go on a 1v1.
- 19:42Go and do.
- 19:42You've got the ability, go and do.
- 19:44You know, and I just think it's really, really promising the future for our football club.
- 19:50It's just that there's smaller details now that we've got to iron through.
- 19:55Yeah, I'm pressed with him.
- 19:57I think I mentioned him or Diblin Attab, a breakout season.
- 20:02You feel he's more...
- 20:05He gives us more balance in terms of...
- 20:08When I was asked for Brennan Johnson, who had a pretty poor game at the weekend, probably one of the only ones.
- 20:14Just someone who gets the ball, runs him behind.
- 20:17I'd still like to take Terry George and sort of take him for individual training and sort of help him improve his game.
- 20:26And help him become better in terms of what I... Because he...
- 20:30I mean, I'm expecting someone playing left wing, maybe someone with his ability to get 12 to 15 goals this season.
- 20:37Really?
- 20:37A left winger?
- 20:38Yeah.
- 20:38Yeah.
- 20:39Well, you look at what Salah's doing on the right and you look at what Gagpo's doing on the left.
- 20:42And what I'm saying is, your wide men, because of the way we play the game these days with...
- 20:48Your wide men have got to give you...
- 20:50at least one of your wide men has got to give you between 10 and 15 goals and your striker's got to give you that as well.
- 20:55Do you know what you're talking about when you take the player to the side and you coach him on his own?
- 21:00How does that work?
- 21:00So did you have that?
- 21:01How does that actually work?
- 21:03You can do.
- 21:04You can do.
- 21:05But I think a player should maybe ask for help in getting better all the time, but a coach should identify...
- 21:15quality within players and also know how to make individuals better.
- 21:19David Moyes probably wouldn't do it himself because he's looking at big picture and he's doing the squad, but some of the coaches in there could be able to look at a player like Tariq George and think, wow, there's opportunity to help you improve, especially this next 18 months when you're still young and you're impressionable, help him improve.
- 21:37Because...
- 21:39as good as he is, I'd ask him for these 10 or 15 goals, how are you going to get them all?
- 21:44Because we all imagine him cutting in off the left or cutting in off the right, bending them in the top corner, but you only score five or six, maybe seven at the most of those a season.
- 21:55So are you going to get your other ones?
- 21:56Well, first of all, you either need to fly in at the back post for tap-ins or the main thing I'd start teaching him now is whenever anyone's getting the ball,
- 22:06and running towards him with Dries Behold, he always wants the ball out on the touchline to his feet.
- 22:11And then he wants to come in.
- 22:12And I'd say, go and run inside the full-back.
- 22:15Allow Dries Behold to play you that pass inside the full-back, Thierry Henry kind of position.
- 22:20Once you get played in there, you finish in far post.
- 22:23And I don't think I've ever seen him do that at all in an Everton shirt.
- 22:27And he's got the pace to do it.
- 22:29That's not to say what he's been doing up to now is wrong, just to give him another string to his bow.
- 22:34Yeah, add something to his game.
- 22:36Because if he adds that, I'm thinking, wow.
- 22:39But the way you can go is really, the ceiling is high if you can add that to your game.
- 22:45Massively.
- 22:46The players study other players as us.
- 22:48I mean, when you were young, it was you watching football and studying them.
- 22:52I try and get our baby to study the goalkeepers as much as they possibly can.
- 22:55When they're playing, study the habits, study what they're doing.
- 22:58But did you like, so you've commented on Salah there, you know, watch Salah, how he comes in, he flits inside and stuff like this.
- 23:05Would you encourage players to be studying players from the past?
- 23:11Yes, to a limit, to a certain degree, because the game is changing.
- 23:17So you can study people's skills and ability and you can watch, say, go back and watch videos of Pele, Maradona and the best and that.
- 23:26The game was different then.
- 23:27They didn't make the same runs.
- 23:28They could come on the ball a little bit more, as good as they were, and they're great to watch.
- 23:32The game's sort of evolving.
- 23:34So I would always look at the people who are the best in my position in the league
- 23:39What is it that they do?
- 23:41What is it that makes them the best?
- 23:43Why are they the best?
- 23:44Is it because they're physically...
- 23:46crazy and probably can't match that but I can get in the gym a little bit stronger or is it because of the runs they make is it because of the finishing they do try and figure out exactly what the best players in you and that if you're a left winger you can include right wingers on that but what is it that they do that sets them apart for the rest and then I'm wondering how far off that I am whether I've got the ability to or whether I've got the attributes to get any of those abilities in my own game and go from there
- 24:14Because I would be, if I was a coach or whatever in football, I'd be encouraging someone to look at the likes of your Ronaldinho, your Arjen Robben.
- 24:22They're two totally different style of players, but if you can incorporate a little bit from each of their games, you've got the pace of an Arjen Robben, you can get in behind, and then you've also got the fast feet of a Ronaldinho.
- 24:33So, you know, I'm not saying... Ronaldinho...
- 24:35I know he's a freak.
- 24:36Of course he's a freak, but the runs he'd make to get the ball in those positions and the situations he'd get in
- 24:43players can still do that.
- 24:45Don't get me wrong, the way he dribbled himself out of them was something that very few could do, but he'd actually get, how was he finding himself in them positions to do what he'd done?
- 24:53And every player can do that, I feel like.
- 24:55So I'm only saying this because when you say that coaching people individually, I've never looked at that in football, I've never thought about that.
- 25:02In my game, it's different.
- 25:04You've got a one-to-one coach every single day.
- 25:06That's just the way it goes and you are drilled for every single mistake and every single kind of thing that can happen.
- 25:11But in football, I just never thought that someone will take you to the side.
- 25:15And it could be the assistant, couldn't it?
- 25:16It could be, you know, he's got three assistants.
- 25:19It could be Baz.
- 25:20Bainsey could be doing it with him, spending some time with him and saying, listen, because Bainsey's and Pienaar's relationship was unbelievable.
- 25:29And if he could sit down with one of them and say to them, listen, this is what we would do, how we would play.
- 25:33Because it's current now what they were doing.
- 25:36Stephen being on Leighton Baines, if they were on our left side right now, they would be terrorising the Premier League as they was doing then because it hasn't changed that much.
- 25:44Them two together was just like a telepathic bloody thing that they would have between the two of them.
- 25:50But that doesn't happen without the likes of you next to them because you're able to step in if two of them go or one of them.
- 25:56So it's between them.
- 25:58How can that be passed on as a coach to the younger generation now?
- 26:04you just have to get out there on the trainer pitch, so to speak.
- 26:08I mean, as you were talking, I was thinking, how would you do?
- 26:12I personally would probably, and this is not easy with egos in the modern day sort of world, but any player that's in the squad and under 23, would I go maybe?
- 26:26to about 23, I would give them an extra session a week.
- 26:31And I know managers, especially in small squads, do not want to risk an injury in these sessions when they're not, when they're not sort of part of the big picture and they're not necessary and they're not what they need to get up to a certain amount of running stats in each week and be good.
- 26:48But I would, I would probably take the under 23s out.
- 26:52Let's just say you play Saturday, Saturday.
- 26:55I'd probably take them out on a Tuesday afternoon for an extra hour's work.
- 27:01And I'm talking like medium intensity.
- 27:04I'm not talking anything where I'm expecting a hamstring to go or anything like that.
- 27:08But just to go through technical work and technique and to be on the pitch and show them what might make you better.
- 27:15And like if I was to do what we just talked about, Terry George, about these inside runs...
- 27:20I would set the situation up without making him sprint after the pass.
- 27:24I'd just say, when you feel like this is the position you are on a pitch, now we need to start getting in there.
- 27:29Now we need to start and just having a pitch awareness of what you do.
- 27:34But nowadays, when you've got a kid that, say, gets into the first team at 17,
- 27:39They're there because they're outstanding.
- 27:41But I still think 17 to 20 definitely is probably the biggest sort of learning curve you have.
- 27:48The opportunity to get even better.
- 27:51But if you get in the first team at 17, you now don't have to do all the extra work that a normal 17 to 19-year-old will be doing in the afternoons in the youth team.
- 28:00Because you're in the first team already, you're the best.
- 28:02You're just preparing to help the team win on a Saturday.
- 28:05And this is across the board, by the way.
- 28:06I'm not talking about Everton in particular.
- 28:09That you're just sort of in the first team.
- 28:11And all the opportunity to make yourself better.
- 28:14All those hours that...
- 28:15You know, you took an hour... You used to say 10,000 hours make you great.
- 28:19But all those hours that you have to make yourself even better...
- 28:22Builds up.
- 28:23Yeah, builds up.
- 28:25You're missing out on them because you're in the first team so early because you're already so good.
- 28:29But if you're already so good and you're nowhere near the peak of...
- 28:33Your time of learning.
- 28:35Imagine where you can get to if you keep learning and you keep applying yourself with that mind-open sort of opportunity of getting better.
- 28:44Whereas a lot of people get in the first team, let's just say 17 or 18, and that's where their ability just stays.
- 28:50They never seem to get any better because they haven't then, from 18, 19, 20, been pushing themselves to improve.
- 28:56So...
- 28:57It's a fine balance.
- 28:59It is coming out of your comfort zone.
- 29:00I can't believe, I cannot believe every football player is not two-footed.
- 29:05I genuinely can't believe that.
- 29:06I can't believe why an academy doesn't designate one day a week to working on your bad foot.
- 29:12there's no excuse I get it because I if I can use two feet and listen I can take a penalty a free kick a corner with either foot if I can bloody do it as a fat dope from Wavertree then footballers should be able to do it and I'm not blaming the footballers here I'm saying from the minute they come in
- 29:31One day a week is designated to the weak foot.
- 29:33Because if you can create a two-footer player, you've cracked it.
- 29:36So my dad always used to make me sort of, so when I was seven and eight and nine and I was younger, I was playing winger, I think, at that point, and I'd always want to shoot my right foot.
- 29:48My dad used to sort of shout at me, if it's on your left foot, hit it.
- 29:52No matter where it goes, hit it.
- 29:55So that was seven, and I did, and I wasn't great at first, but by 10, my left foot was better at shooting than my right, just because I'd had more opportunity and I'd been practising it more.
- 30:05So again, going back to learning to be two-footed, that happens as a kid.
- 30:09That has to be drilled in really, really early.
- 30:12Doing that at first-team level isn't very, really going to,
- 30:16sort of make the impression that it needs to.
- 30:18But you're talking about two-footed.
- 30:20Can every single boxer fight both ways?
- 30:24Southport, no.
- 30:24I could, but no.
- 30:25No, they can't.
- 30:26That's sort of like the same thing because that's literally just turning your body.
- 30:29So, it's...
- 30:31Yeah, but that's a power hand.
- 30:33One's a power hand and one's not.
- 30:34But don't get me wrong, you're right.
- 30:36Essentially, you are correct, yes, but I would say all the top boxers can do it.
- 30:40Not to the same level, but, you know, you look at the iconic Nassim Hamad, each swap and change, out of canter.
- 30:48It'd be easy work for them.
- 30:50But...
- 30:51Could I box softball?
- 30:52Yes, I had to box softball in various ABA championships and I broke my right hand.
- 30:56So I'd have to box them and look for the power shot with my left hand.
- 30:59I remember boxing a kid once out the way somewhere.
- 31:03I think it was
- 31:05It was down Norwich Way.
- 31:07And I'd fractured my right hand.
- 31:10And this was the semi-final.
- 31:11And I just felt it straight away as soon as it was with the right hand.
- 31:15I turned South Pole, walloped them with the left and stopped them, thankfully.
- 31:18And then I got an injection in my right hand for the final.
- 31:21And that was the year I knocked out John Lewis Dickinson in my second NBA championship to win my second NBA title and defend it back-to-back.
- 31:27But just to...
- 31:29talk about being too but like I just don't see why kids our baby quick one quick well done on that before you move on yeah quick well done on that yeah I should have got a violin I was well about fracturing me and it wasn't it ate an awful lot but with our baby I'm the same house did they definitely put the ejection in your hand no
- 31:47Just checking.
- 31:47You know what?
- 31:48It's a funny story, actually.
- 31:51I couldn't get a doctor up there.
- 31:52And it was at the time, it was a Voltron injection.
- 31:54And my dad stuck it in my arse.
- 31:57And he put it in the wrong parts.
- 31:59He hit the bottom of my back and created a big egg in my back.
- 32:04So it did not have it.
- 32:05Yeah, fantastic.
- 32:06Thanks for that, Dad.
- 32:07But, yeah.
- 32:09Yeah.
- 32:10That was another story.
- 32:12And then, but as for footballers being too, like I constantly push our baby to play with both feet and he's a bloody keeper.
- 32:19You know what I mean?
- 32:20Just a quick one.
- 32:20Isn't your baby like your third kid?
- 32:23Like you've got a, you've got a baby.
- 32:24Do you call the youngest one a baby baby?
- 32:27No, he's me world.
- 32:30He's the best thing ever.
- 32:31He's six and all he needs is dad.
- 32:33So he's the best thing in the whole world, Carson.
- 32:34But the other babies, yeah, I mean, I've got babies that are bigger than me.
- 32:38Listen, they're all still our babies.
- 32:41You know that.
- 32:42And yesterday, your baby was giving you a look and you were scared of him, your shitbag.
- 32:45So don't you say anything to me.
- 32:46No, I've got...
- 32:47I've got two fellas living in my house with me now.
- 32:50Two fellas that are bigger than me living in my house, eating all my food, not paying any rent.
- 32:56I'll be bigger than you, mate.
- 32:57You're tiny.
- 32:57Your wife's bigger than you was.
- 33:04Quick one though, just before we go on.
- 33:07I wanted to emphasize because I never mentioned it.
- 33:10That information I had on the transfer, the person who told me asked me to actually make it public in that way.
- 33:19Just so I don't- Just don't worry, I've not got your darms a snitch.
- 33:22Just so people are thinking I'm going in, getting information off someone, and listening to people's conversations, and just- There's one thing, my close friends could now be snitches, so stop explaining yourself.
- 33:34This person said, yes, I wouldn't mind not being made public, and I said, fine, I'll do that, Bia.
- 33:40I don't want to be, people think I'm going in a club and they're not talking to me anymore, because I might actually spread information.
- 33:46I'm not that guy.
- 33:48I just thought I best emphasised that part.
- 33:52I thought I best emphasised that part.
- 33:54He was on Twitter, the bobble, who no one knows who he is.
- 33:57No.
- 33:57He was.
- 33:58Yeah.
- 33:59Yeah, I had to spell bobble wrong, so I can't do that.
- 34:04Yeah, fair.
- 34:05Right, let's get back to the match.
- 34:06We haven't even spoke about meeting the Niles as an equaliser.
- 34:09What were your feelings when that went in?
- 34:12What a guy.
- 34:14What a guy.
- 34:16Yeah, I mean, I was...
- 34:18I've got to be honest, I was out in my seat with an unbelievable feeling when Tariq scored.
- 34:23I mean, the way you think the board is, we were literally right behind that shot.
- 34:26And as soon as it come off his foot, we're already up.
- 34:29And that was a great feeling because, you know, it's a late on goal, pushing at the home end in the stadium.
- 34:38And the noise from that was outstanding.
- 34:41But then we sat off, didn't we?
- 34:44I thought we were on the front foot.
- 34:47we'd scored that goal we'll take the momentum we'll push forward and for whatever reason we kicked off and never continued to go close them down and get in the face we kicked off and just suddenly went whether we needed a breather whether it was we've got something to protect or whether it was just a
- 35:03I don't know, just a lack of concentration from the players.
- 35:06Because it wouldn't have been the manager.
- 35:07The manager can't just suddenly click a finger and you just change your mentality in that moment.
- 35:11So whether we just sat off without meaning to, but we did, we gave them the opportunity to get a few passes together, get forward, and they scored.
- 35:19So you were like up and down, weren't you, in that sort of moment where...
- 35:23So that last-minute goal, just, when we thought it was gone, we thought the time, we were 96 plus about 20 or something like that, wasn't it?
- 35:32And I'm thinking the ref's just going to blow his whistle here.
- 35:34Now he's going to blow his whistle.
- 35:35Now he's going to blow his whistle.
- 35:36Get in there!
- 35:37Honestly, I actually think I got a little bit dizzy.
- 35:42Like when I jumped out my seat, I think I sort of celebrated that much.
- 35:45I got a little bit light-headed.
- 35:46It was that good.
- 35:49Yeah, Tony, what about you?
- 35:50Do you know what mate, our baby had Wolves away.
- 35:53Of course you did say that.
- 35:55I've got to go and watch them and so I let a couple of clients go in these seats, fantastic.
- 36:02And then we rushed back, we beat Wolves at Everton, under 14s are unbeaten this season, absolutely fantastic.
- 36:10The boys played nine games and conceded one goal.
- 36:12Unbelievable.
- 36:13We've won tournaments as well.
- 36:14The youth academy is doing absolutely fantastic.
- 36:17But that's another case.
- 36:19That's where I was.
- 36:20So I got home and I got home on, I think it was 70 minutes.
- 36:24I was obviously listening to the match all the way home in the car.
- 36:26Stuff like that, screaming and shouting and calling the referee every name under the sun in the car, even though he's not there.
- 36:33And then we get to him on 70 minutes.
- 36:37gutted, seeing the goal go in and then we concede that goal and it's like the Sesco goal, it's like, it's unfortunate because,
- 36:48It skims Tarki's head.
- 36:50It actually skims his head getting over him.
- 36:53So I don't know if that, as you'll know as a player, is that a brilliant cross or is that a defensive mistake?
- 36:59I don't know because if his head touches it, so for me, Tarki's in the right position, but I'm thinking, there we go, a boxer thinking out loud.
- 37:06It's dangerous stuff.
- 37:07I'm in a dangerous space again, but I'm thinking...
- 37:11They've got one up top at Sesco, should there always be one in front, one behind.
- 37:14And if that's the case, then you possibly get it.
- 37:16But the ball is so good, it's actually in between them.
- 37:20And he rises and Pickers gets his hand to it.
- 37:23It's a tough one.
- 37:24It's a little bit of both, really.
- 37:27One of the things that makes it difficult, and this might seem minute...
- 37:32is the way the attack went, Hackney, who I thought was very good, and we'll come to him in a second, had that tackle in the middle and the ball ricocheted in their favour, left 4v4, I think it was.
- 37:44And Jared had to come out and sort of push them away from goal.
- 37:49And in doing that, Jared and Tarks crossed over positions.
- 37:53So they were still in the decent enough positions.
- 37:56But if you're a centre-back that used to cross as coming over your shoulder off one leg, and you're able to get that extra two inches jumping back towards the right, because that's your natural way of doing it, and suddenly you're a bit twisted round and you're jumping a little bit.
- 38:13I think an inch difference can make there.
- 38:16Plus, you're positionally not in the exact right position because...
- 38:21used to doing it on the other side.
- 38:22And these might seem minute.
- 38:24And the distances I'm talking about are half a yard.
- 38:27But as you've just mentioned, if that cross is perfect as it was, then half a yard is crucial in them moments.
- 38:35And I don't think the fullback has enough time to come around properly.
- 38:40Tarky Kark quite get there.
- 38:41Was Jared too far?
- 38:43No, you know, it was just one of them things.
- 38:45Perfect cross.
- 38:47I think in a couple of months' time, I think Maitland-Niles...
- 38:50understands the winger he's working with and drops away a little bit sooner because when you go to a new club and you're being run at, sometimes you don't know, is this, I mean, he was in the door for 20 minutes, you know.
- 39:03So as the winger's coming to you, some clubs and some teams do, the full-back literally just stays with the winger
- 39:11And the wide man follows the fullback and follows his run all the way around.
- 39:16Other teams, and this is the way we used to do it and I used to do it, is as that happens, the wide man screams to the fullback, to our fullback, would be to Maitland-Niles, drop away with the runner.
- 39:28And I would now take the guy on the ball.
- 39:30And Maitland-Niles would take the runner.
- 39:32And again, just these minute details that...
- 39:35He's only been in the door two minutes.
- 39:37He's still doing that when he was getting screamed at to go sort of and be aware, drop away.
- 39:43And that second, two seconds is massive because you've now given, was it Shaw, the opportunity to get two yards away from you.
- 39:55So, yeah, these type of things will be touched up on and good.
- 39:59But it was...
- 40:00It was sloppy in the sense that we dropped off, lost a tackle, gave them the opportunity to build into the game because they'd been on the back foot for 15 minutes before it.
- 40:10That was upsetting, but the goal, it was a pretty good goal.
- 40:14Do you think there were sloppy moments throughout the game?
- 40:16Did we ride our luck at times and then get a last-minute winner, or was it actually a good, stable performance from Moyes, given everything considered going into the game?
- 40:24I thought we were pretty average in the first half.
- 40:29I was thinking let's get to half-time here because we've been a bit sloppy.
- 40:35We've not quite been up to it.
- 40:36Last 10 minutes, I'd say, on the first half, we actually started to play well, get forward, thought a few chances in.
- 40:45There was an unbelievable Merlin roll-cross for Barry, who headed over at the back stick.
- 40:50It wasn't the easiest of chances.
- 40:52I'm not saying it wasn't scorable, it very much was.
- 40:55but it was on the harder side of chances.
- 41:01But, yeah, we started to look good.
- 41:05That last little bit of effort from Jarrod right before half-time was brilliant.
- 41:08That got the crowd right up, that didn't it?
- 41:09That brilliant tackle and then getting it in the face with the ball, which is what all good centre-halves should do.
- 41:15You ever see a good-looking centre-half?
- 41:16He celebrated after it as well.
- 41:18Yeah.
- 41:19Well, that's what players do.
- 41:20Now, he knew the significance of what he'd done.
- 41:23Because you don't want to go in
- 41:25a goal, conceded a goal just for off time.
- 41:27But, we then came out and conceded a goal at the start of the second half, don't we?
- 41:31But, it was a sloppy start, but I thought we were, I thought we were well worthy of our points.
- 41:35In the same way, I thought we were well worthy of our points against Bournemouth.
- 41:39We were worthy of our points here and it didn't look like we were going to get it.
- 41:43But, credit to the character of the team, still going, still pushing forward, not giving up.
- 41:48I think,
- 41:49defending, because like a Tottenham ball, it's still, you're a goal behind, but look at the desire to keep the second goal out.
- 41:55Against Man United, we're a goal behind, but look at the desire to work hard and work as a team and make sure it's still just 1-0, give your strikers a chance of getting back into it.
- 42:04And I thought, I've enjoyed watching us play.
- 42:08It hasn't always been vintage football.
- 42:10It hasn't always been brilliant, but I've enjoyed us.
- 42:14Is that down to the manager or the players?
- 42:16that ethos that emphasis of winning it back when you're 1-0 down you're close to conceding the second who's that who does the emphasis drop to with that is that the manager or is that the player's attitude both but it's not something that is just you do on the match day that is a philosophy within the club yeah that is it's worked on that is something no not just worked on it's a mindset that
- 42:39doesn't necessarily get worked on in the, I mean, they'll work on defensive moments and they'll work on defending and getting blocks in and all this, but the mindset to work as hard as you do for your teammates and be part of, I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to have your back as much as you're going to have my back.
- 42:55And we're only a goal down.
- 42:57So let's leave it all out there.
- 42:58That's a, that's a philosophy that happens the second you go through the door, the second you go through the training ground, it's things that happen off the pitch.
- 43:07It's things that happen, it's,
- 43:09throughout the training ground without necessarily being on the grass.
- 43:11But definitely it happens when they're on the grass.
- 43:13And it's just a mindset that flows throughout the club.
- 43:16And it always, as much as I say the players do it, and I was part of unbelievably good squads at that, it does start.
- 43:26I mean, if the book starts and stops with the manager, then it does come from the manager.
- 43:30He demands it, doesn't he?
- 43:31He demands it from players.
- 43:33You put your body on the line and you wear your socks off here.
- 43:36Yeah.
- 43:37He does, but he asks a lot from you.
- 43:39He'll take a lot from you as well.
- 43:42And he'll ask for a lot, but he'll give you a lot.
- 43:45But also it might be little things like silly things.
- 43:51Like I know he's going to be fuming at me and he's going to sulk if I don't do this.
- 43:54He won't be happy if I don't do this.
- 43:55And he's going to be, you know, he's going to whinge at me if I don't do this.
- 43:58Whatever the reason is or whatever...
- 44:00whatever he's doing or whatever the people do, whether they literally shout at you all the time or whether they show real disappointment, it is finding a way to get your squad to really buy into what you want from them and believing in them and the mindset of it and winning your battles as much as anything else.
- 44:19I mean, giving you pride in the fact that
- 44:23Like if you think about it, say if you're playing for a team that's getting beat all the time and the winger runs at the full-back and the full-back is like, this just happens every single week.
- 44:33I'm giving up now.
- 44:33You know, just go on, get past me.
- 44:35I'm not trying that hard to stop the cross.
- 44:38Whereas, no, you could be 4-0 down for a team that you love and appreciate and where the mindset's right.
- 44:43And you still don't care.
- 44:44You are not getting beat in this individual battle any more than you have done.
- 44:48This is me and you now, toe-to-toe, we are not getting beat.
- 44:51So it's those mindsets within a club.
- 44:55Let's have a little chat about some other teams around the Premier League then.
- 44:58We might as well start with United.
- 44:59They got beat by Hull first game of the season and then looked a little bit nervous against us at times.
- 45:05We all had them down to have a very good season this year.
- 45:09Have they got something to worry about?
- 45:12Yeah.
- 45:13Yes, they have.
- 45:16I don't think there's a clear...
- 45:18an ultimate threat up top.
- 45:20I don't think, I think they're suffering.
- 45:22Do you know what?
- 45:22I think the game is suffering.
- 45:24There's a lack of nines.
- 45:26Just a proper nine.
- 45:28I mean, we all know the best nine in world football is Erling Haaland.
- 45:32There's just no one even close to that number.
- 45:34As a nine, an out-of-nine Erling Haaland is the one.
- 45:37And I don't care what people want to say.
- 45:38They could say Kylian Mbappe, but for me, he's not the same presence as an Erling Haaland.
- 45:45He's just not.
- 45:47What are you looking at?
- 45:50what's just gasp you're looking behind you you're looking behind you as if Kylian Mbappe is sitting behind you and I've insulted them always check your shoulder tone that's what I always get told always check your shoulder you caught me eating me breakfast that's what I was doing so yeah I just think the game's in the shoulder just proper nines and I think we could potentially have one in TN O'Barry it's just you've just you know got to keep adapting and keep improving keep getting better them things that I was talked about before and I
- 46:22working on your individual game.
- 46:25I don't care how old you are and how long you've been in the game, you can still learn.
- 46:29I know that because I've been in my sport.
- 46:31I've had three different coaches in a professional mix, coached by numerous people on an international stage and I'm at a boxing going around the world, boxing for my country.
- 46:39There's always something to learn.
- 46:41Well, I'll talk about United then because what worried me is they've been away from home twice now.
- 46:48and they've conceded two goals each time, Hull and us.
- 46:52And for good chunks of the game, they've looked a little bit nervous.
- 46:57I think they've been sort of physically, the game's been taken to them.
- 47:03There is no doubt that they have unbelievable quality in forward areas.
- 47:09Whether you'd say it's enough to really compete in the Champions League, in competitions, high-up competitions, I don't know.
- 47:18But when you've got Bruno, you've got Cunha, you've got Mbwemo who's decent, you've got Cesc Osh on the bench who you're not using, you've got all these talented people, you're going to go and cause teams problems like they caused us problems.
- 47:29Bruno hits the bar, early doors, they'd scored two goals.
- 47:33But Man Utd should... Not just Man Utd, but teams at the top are much better at controlling the games come the end, they're much better at seeing games out, they're much better at...
- 47:47standing up to any physical challenges that the opposition throw at them.
- 47:50Because if you've got a better team than people, then you know what they're going to throw at you is physicality or pace or something different.
- 47:59And I think they fell short in both of those at the minute.
- 48:03I think they fell short against Hull.
- 48:05I think they fell short against us.
- 48:07I think Michael Carrick, who I admire and what he's done so far.
- 48:13I mean, he took both of his full-backs off.
- 48:15He put Yara on, probably for a bit of height.
- 48:17Took Shaw off, wasted time.
- 48:18I thought the team they finished with, Dogu on for... Was it a Bwemo or something?
- 48:23I thought the team they finished with was quite sort of negative in terms of seeing the game out.
- 48:28Give us an opportunity to be proactive.
- 48:31So...
- 48:32I'm a little bit concerned about that for them.
- 48:34I think there's a lot to work on.
- 48:36I do think the United, in the same way we were talking about us, I do think for United and the competitions that they're in, I think they've been left a little bit short.
- 48:45I don't think they have a midfield, but I think at the back, I think they could have done with another centre-half.
- 48:50And I think at the top end, they could have done with another centre-forward.
- 48:54I think they've been left a little bit short as well.
- 48:58Talking about number nines, briefly there, Havertz has made a good start to the season, so have Arsenal 3-3.
- 49:04Are they looking like they're untouchable after that 2-1 win at Chelsea?
- 49:09Can anyone compete with them?
- 49:16Well, City are having a go at the minute.
- 49:18What I will say is Arsenal...
- 49:20I've started the league kind of flawlessly.
- 49:24I know they conceded the goal.
- 49:27But, you know, three wins out of three as title holders from last season.
- 49:32They look great, as we talked about previously.
- 49:34They've strengthened well.
- 49:37Yes, they've lost some decent players over the Samaritan, Nelly and Trossard, some people.
- 49:41But I think they've strengthened reasonably well, especially through the spine of the team.
- 49:45Konza looks like a great sign considering the injuries they've just had.
- 49:50And you look at them and you think they're going to be tough to beat because I see them winning most games.
- 49:57Would anyone put it past them being invincible the way they've started?
- 50:00I mean, just for how they're playing and how powerful they are.
- 50:04I'm just saying it's not out of the realms.
- 50:07What I would say is this time last year, was it last year?
- 50:11Liverpool were coming off winning the title the previous year and they'd won their first five, was it?
- 50:17Even though it was like last minute winners.
- 50:19You know, they scored like three last minute winners or something.
- 50:23So Liverpool started the season pretty well last year before it all fell apart.
- 50:28So season's a long time.
- 50:29It's 38 games, is it?
- 50:31Nine months or whatever it might be.
- 50:33So you have to be good over the whole of it.
- 50:35Arsenal look like the team to beat.
- 50:38Champions League kicks in, they're in trouble.
- 50:41They will start feeling the pace.
- 50:43No, I'm telling you, not trouble, but you know, they're going to start feeling the pace like everybody else.
- 50:47I think in part of that Chelsea game, you've seen that they can be got her.
- 50:52and I don't think and I think I don't think Chelsea are in any great shapes I think they're a good side I think they've obviously got a good manager but he doesn't even know his best side yet
- 51:05And he showed that Arsenal can be opened up.
- 51:07They had various chances, by the way.
- 51:09Jao Pedro didn't have a great game, where he usually does.
- 51:14So, I don't know.
- 51:17I'm not on the big Arsenal gravy train that everyone else seems to be on.
- 51:22Are they the best team in the country?
- 51:23Yes.
- 51:24But are they anywhere near this invincible state that I was just slightly edged towards?
- 51:29Absolutely not, no.
- 51:32They will lose a game, mate, and they will lose a game within.
- 51:35I don't know what their next five or six fixtures look like, but they will lose in the next five or six fixtures, I believe.
- 51:41Talking about being invincible, Hull haven't conceded a goal yet.
- 51:45Don't start me off on that lot.
- 51:46They're making me nervous.
- 51:48They're making me really nervous, mate.
- 51:50They really are.
- 51:50Nervous about what?
- 51:52Because it just shows you what a well-drilled team can do by shutting people down.
- 51:57Yeah, but why is it making you nervous?
- 51:59Because they... You'd only be nervous if you think we're competing with them for something.
- 52:02Well, I'm nervous because they shouldn't be where they are.
- 52:05And they shouldn't be enjoying themselves like they are now, to be honest.
- 52:08I'm not happy about that.
- 52:09Because they're enjoying themselves more than me.
- 52:12I know, but it just worries me.
- 52:13Do you know what I mean?
- 52:14It worries me because they're below us.
- 52:17And when you're sitting above us, that doesn't sit right with me.
- 52:21Have you seen their shot?
- 52:22Do what?
- 52:24Yeah.
- 52:24The chance, getting mauled by the Tigers.
- 52:28My Lord.
- 52:30Please do that movement again, Liam.
- 52:31Please show us that movement again.
- 52:33You're getting mauled by the Tigers.
- 52:35They do it.
- 52:36When they're winning games.
- 52:37They even got to, I think we talked about it, they even got to sing You're Going Home in a Taxi to the Man United fans after the trains got cancelled in the opening weekend.
- 52:45And you're getting mauled by the Tigers.
- 52:49let's not pretend if if it was us and we had some sort of chant like that we'd be screaming it at everyone we're the big club we're the big club huge club I'd still be screaming you're getting mauled by the toffees you're getting chewed you're getting chewed up by the toffees but we can't sit in a stadium chewing our mouths can we
- 53:07I just think do you know what I'm trying to think of who the teams have impressed me obviously Arsenal have done the job so far Liverpool have been underwhelming as usual City have surprised me Tony yeah me as well I'll tell you what was thinking last night seeing Haaland fuming in Europe coming out and calling players out I like that love it culpability yeah
- 53:32In Europe, I watched him last night and Harland was here.
- 53:35I'm a huge fan of him.
- 53:36He's just a freak.
- 53:37Like that boy is just... Would never have guessed.
- 53:40Mate, he's just a monster.
- 53:42The Viking is the Viking.
- 53:43He really is, mate.
- 53:43He should invade countries.
- 53:45He really should.
- 53:46But he's just...
- 53:48When he called... What's his name?
- 53:50The midfielder out.
- 53:52I had his name.
- 53:53He's a brand new player.
- 53:55Youngster Fordman, the centre of the park.
- 53:57Buadi Buadi that's the one yes and I thought oh he's a player but he went should have sloted me in there he knew he'd seen me free and it was a mistake by him on his part and just called him out straight away brilliant fantastic
- 54:11That's what you do.
- 54:12Do you know one of the things about that is, because I don't know what Enzo Maresca's like on the inside and whether he would say that, how the structure is within there.
- 54:22But you know Pep was always about a tap-in, wasn't he?
- 54:25So Harland's probably never had to come out and do that because when they got back in the dressing room, Pep would have been on about it, tap-ins, tap-ins, tap-ins.
- 54:34So whether he's just suddenly thought, well, Enzo Moresco's not making these statements, I'm going to call him out here.
- 54:39That's got to be a tapping.
- 54:40Pep's not here to do that anymore.
- 54:41It's got to be a tapping for me.
- 54:43I don't know whether Enzo's sort of emphasising their messages, but it's interesting that you've never heard Erling Haaland come out and make that statement before.
- 54:50He's never had to.
- 54:52And yet he is doing it at the start of this new manager's tenure.
- 54:56I'll watch this space on that one.
- 54:57Yeah, I think whoever listens, whoever finishes above them is the winner.
- 55:01I'm a little bit eager to edge towards them.
- 55:06The only thing that I'm not going out on my shield and saying that it's them for is purely because it's Mureska in charge.
- 55:12If Pep Guardiola was still in charge of City, I'd make them favourites for the league this season.
- 55:17Yeah.
- 55:17I really would.
- 55:18Probably after their transfer window.
- 55:20Because I was, as I said,
- 55:22I think I'd put them down to finish third because losing Pep, losing Rodri, losing Stones, losing Bernardo Silva, you think there's big holes.
- 55:32But it's mad because, you know, we did it ourselves, but I've done it for a couple of different companies now at the start of the season.
- 55:39The Premier League, BBC, Guy, all this.
- 55:42Picking who you think is going to finish at the top of the league and who you think is going to finish at the bottom.
- 55:46And you're always asked to do it at the start of the season.
- 55:48And then teams make all these signings or not on transfer window day and suddenly your picks look stupid.
- 55:55You know, like suddenly your picks look ridiculous because you've made these statements and then you go, well, they've just signed Bouadi, Enzo Fernandes.
- 56:06They've just signed, you know, and suddenly Illuminati and suddenly you go, Jesus.
- 56:10Yeah.
- 56:11I wish I could swap that.
- 56:11I wish I could take that back.
- 56:13But it was a good transfer window for City and they are looking strong.
- 56:18I'd like to see them go away to Villa or Everton.
- 56:23No, no, not Everton.
- 56:24No, it's Villa.
- 56:25No, even some of these teams and see whether they can do it because I think they'll be fine at home for the most part and I think they'll beat the teams they're expected to away.
- 56:33I wonder whether, you know, when it's, you know, that game, Tuesday night at Stoke, you know, can you go away and do these awkward games?
- 56:41I think Illumina and Jarrett's going to be massive.
- 56:44Illumina and Jarrett's going to be massive for them.
- 56:47They will soon realise what we've all seen.
- 56:49Illumina who?
- 56:51I don't know who you're talking about anymore.
- 56:53Oh, shut up, Yig.
- 56:55Mate, I'm telling you, that boy's a player.
- 56:57He's such a good player.
- 57:01And they're going to see me.
- 57:02They're going to find out.
- 57:03He was a hidden gem, that boy.
- 57:06And unfortunately, they've got him.
- 57:08But mate, trust me, he'll shine there.
- 57:12When he gets on the ball, the things that he'll do, and I know they've got great players in the Cherkies and the Dokus and your Fodans, he's completely different to all of them because he'll do as much going backwards as he does going forwards and that, for me, is so hard to find in a player.
- 57:26Oz, who do you see who does that?
- 57:30In the game today?
- 57:31Yeah, is he eager to get back as he is going forward and does it as well?
- 57:37I'm sure a lot of people will be telling me that there are players.
- 57:42On a wing of Wessler.
- 57:43Yeah, it's hard because as I've mentioned before, he was at some points last season, he was like the highest player in the whole Premier League for winning the ball back.
- 57:53I didn't know whether that said a lot about our full-backs.
- 57:59I didn't even know that says everything about him.
- 58:01There were moments in the season when he was always right up there of amount of times having won the ball back.
- 58:08Obviously, Idrissa Gueye was up there for tackles and interceptions, but actually taking the ball off the opponent and closing down and stuff like that.
- 58:16So he's...
- 58:17He's top at that, and they will see the benefits of that.
- 58:20Because, I mean, I can't even be angry with him for wanting to leave.
- 58:25Because he's playing in the Champions League already.
- 58:28He's going to compete for a title this year, and he's playing in the Champions League.
- 58:30So...
- 58:32Good luck to him.
- 58:33And I don't think he'll forget us.
- 58:36I mean, him and his wife, his missus, posted some lovely sort of Everton content, I suppose we'd say.
- 58:43And it just shows what the club does to you.
- 58:45Once you've been in the door, you know, as the great someone said, once this club touches you, nothing will ever be the same again.
- 58:51And it's true.
- 58:53I can see him coming back one day.
- 58:55I definitely can.
- 58:56Here's a one for you.
- 58:58We didn't anticipate this.
- 59:00What's your thoughts on Graeme Souness' opinion of Declan Rice?
- 59:06What did he say?
- 59:06He said he doesn't think Declan Rice is very good.
- 59:10He thinks he's basically a centre-half player in the middle of the park.
- 59:15I don't know if he phrased, did he say not very good?
- 59:18I know he was basically saying he doesn't get in most top teams as a setter midfielder and he's not the all-round.
- 59:27He definitely said he's not an all-round midfielder.
- 59:30He loves that shout, doesn't he?
- 59:31He said that in the past as well.
- 59:33As I heard Ali McCoy sort of saying as well, I was listening to the radio, that that's a sort of,
- 59:40It's a tough statement that in the modern day world because Graham's going back to the times when we played 4-4-2.
- 59:45Well, you played a variation of it where you were two of your midfielders and between the two of you, you had to defend, you had to attack, you had to get in a box, you had to shoot from distance, you had to run past your striker, you had to get back.
- 59:58Basically, the whole point of being a midfielder was you did Everton.
- 1:00:02And those top-class midfielders were those that did Everton well.
- 1:00:06And obviously, Graham was one of them.
- 1:00:09So I'd look at the likes of Steven Gerrard was all-round.
- 1:00:13I don't know whether Frank Lampard was, but he was good enough he could have played in the two.
- 1:00:18In the same way, just to show you, Gazza played centre midfield, which he never would these days.
- 1:00:23But all-round midfielders don't really exist anymore in the modern game because you've got sixes, you've got eights, you've got tens.
- 1:00:29Kevin De Bruyne was...
- 1:00:31was a player that was an attacking player who did crosses, but he couldn't defend.
- 1:00:36So by that sort of estimation, he's not an all-round midfielder.
- 1:00:39And he raves on Kevin Debron and Dunny.
- 1:00:40Yeah, he's not an all-round midfielder.
- 1:00:43So it just depends how you sort of define it.
- 1:00:45I think Declan Rice is exceptional.
- 1:00:48I think he's very, very good.
- 1:00:49I think he does the defensive side brilliantly.
- 1:00:52I think he does the box-to-box great.
- 1:00:54I think he arrives...
- 1:00:56on cue, his tackling's good.
- 1:00:58Do I think he's brilliant at playing through balls and whipping them over the top?
- 1:01:03Probably not, although he does deliver a brilliant corner and free kick, his delivery is good.
- 1:01:08But do you see him doing what De Bruyne does and constantly playing through balls?
- 1:01:12No.
- 1:01:12But that's not to say he's not an outstanding midfielder and if you got the balance right around him, you'd have him in your team more often than not.
- 1:01:19I think most people would have him in the team.
- 1:01:21I know he said about, like, does he get a Barca and Real Madrid's teams
- 1:01:26I think he's definitely in the squad.
- 1:01:31And then I think he's probably in the team, yeah.
- 1:01:33You find a place for someone like Declan Rice.
- 1:01:35I mean, I just listen, I'm always intrigued by listening to him, and he's one of the greatest footballers that they've seen.
- 1:01:42So, I just thought I'd ask you as a footballer that question, but ultimately, I get what you're saying.
- 1:01:48It's a different game now, but...
- 1:01:51I've listened to him talking about it.
- 1:01:52He's always the last man.
- 1:01:54He's always the last man.
- 1:01:56He's lower than defenders at times in the games.
- 1:01:59And I'm like, well, it's just obviously the position he's being asked to play.
- 1:02:02And he does that so well for England as well, to be fair.
- 1:02:05I think he's a phenomenal footballer.
- 1:02:07I think he's got the full package.
- 1:02:08I think he's got the lot.
- 1:02:09I think whatever you ask someone like Declan Rice to do, he can do.
- 1:02:12So if you ask him to go and penetrate through the midfield, I think he could.
- 1:02:16And I think if you're asking him to get forward, I think he can.
- 1:02:19But if you're saying, right, I need you to be disciplined, sit and be deep and pass the ball and generate and create, I think he can do that.
- 1:02:26So I think he can do the whole lot.
- 1:02:28It's just I think he plays in a system where it doesn't allow him to show everything that he can do.
- 1:02:33He's being asked to do a certain job at Arsenal and he's doing it, you know, above and beyond.
- 1:02:38Yeah, talking about midfielders, I didn't get to talk about him before.
- 1:02:41I thought for his time on the pitch, I thought Hayden Hackney did brilliantly at the weekend.
- 1:02:46I thought he gave us, felt a bit, not frustrated because Jimmy Garner played okay.
- 1:02:52He's not at the levels he was last year yet, but that's because he's missed a ball pre-season.
- 1:02:55That's why Moisey was trying to give him more minutes, putting him right back.
- 1:02:59But...
- 1:03:00Hackney gave us a spark.
- 1:03:02He gave us a brightness.
- 1:03:03He travelled with the ball.
- 1:03:04He was, how would I describe it?
- 1:03:08He showed good tricks.
- 1:03:11He gave us a bit of impetus.
- 1:03:13He gave us a bit of drive in the middle, taking the ball forward, playing forward passes.
- 1:03:17Everything he did had purpose, I thought, to try and get us back in the game.
- 1:03:23And in a game where quite a lot of people were happy to go sideways,
- 1:03:26not just talking about Everton, I'm talking about the modern game, we're happy to keep the ball and go sideways.
- 1:03:30He was bright, he was positive, he was thinking forward all the time.
- 1:03:34Even the goal for Tyreek George, he's bright, he takes it forward, he plays a good ball into Barry's foot, who...
- 1:03:40Obviously, he miscontrols it.
- 1:03:42Happy that it came back to him because he was the one moving forward, happening a lovely pass out wide.
- 1:03:46And he was involved with the second goal as well.
- 1:03:49I thought he deserved a shout-out because I thought he did well when he came on against Bournemouth.
- 1:03:54And I thought he was very good in the first game as well.
- 1:03:57So I'm really pleased with that signing from what I've seen so far.
- 1:04:01I think when you talk about developing, he's still young.
- 1:04:05I think he can become a good player.
- 1:04:10And Harrison Armstrong's continuing to impress.
- 1:04:12I agree that Harrison Armstrong, Hayden Hachney, youngsters are.
- 1:04:18That's Everton Football Club.
- 1:04:20You know, believing in youngsters, bringing them through, getting them to a level...
- 1:04:24Edgerton Keane and Jude Peel has been one of the finds for us.
- 1:04:27I think he's the hidden gem.
- 1:04:29I think he's absolutely fantastic.
- 1:04:31Penetrates, gets forward, creates chances, can score goals.
- 1:04:35Him and Jack Grealis together are fantastic.
- 1:04:38I just love the fact when Jack gets on the ball, he's telling players where to go.
- 1:04:42He's helping them.
- 1:04:42And that is...
- 1:04:46that is bringing players on tenfold do you know if he can just be saying I'm holding this ball here don't worry about this fella he's not getting it off me there's nothing he can do to get this ball off me I'll keep my hold in place and that's what he does and he tells players go there literally with his hand on the pitch in front of us all so we can all see and that for an education for a footballer for a young footballer is just fantastic it really is so I'm happy I think we're doing really well
- 1:05:11and there's room to improve I just I do I genuinely believe in Tiano Barry I do I do believe he has got something there I genuinely believe that I wouldn't say it if it didn't I just think the lad can be a goal scorer I just I just don't know what it is that's
- 1:05:29seems to be holding them back at the minute.
- 1:05:31He's got to start proving it and there's no better place to do it than Saturday at 5.30 against Spurs, Liam, because this is a big game.
- 1:05:42Again, I've said about this weekend about United is a big game because if we win it, we're on seven points out of nine.
- 1:05:48We'll start the season brilliantly.
- 1:05:51If we lose it, we're on four and it's a little bit mediocre.
- 1:05:55But we drew.
- 1:05:56Good feeling about the draw.
- 1:05:58in terms of another last-minute goal.
- 1:06:01Still taking positivity forward, five points out of nine, over 50% of your points.
- 1:06:06Very good.
- 1:06:07Now we go into this next game.
- 1:06:08If you win, you've had a great start to the season.
- 1:06:10If you lose, again, mediocre, especially against the Spurs team who haven't scored the goal this season, never mind won a game.
- 1:06:21I was at the Spurs, the Nottingham Forest Spurs game, and it was competitive, to be fair.
- 1:06:27There was tackles flying in everywhere, which of the games like that, that'll suit us.
- 1:06:32But there wasn't any quality at the top end of the pitch.
- 1:06:34It was as if De Zerbe was just trying to not lose that game.
- 1:06:38Foot-back four, three-holding midfielders all in front, really.
- 1:06:42Sort of said to the front three, go do your own thing.
- 1:06:44I think it'd be a bit more...
- 1:06:46I think he'll have to push forward a bit more at home.
- 1:06:47But this is a game against a Spurs team that are underwhelming at the minute that we could win.
- 1:06:54And we don't usually do well down at Spurs, I've got to be honest.
- 1:06:57But this would be a great statement if we could go there and win.
- 1:07:00I guess the saying goes, though, doesn't it?
- 1:07:03If you're dying for a goal, who do you want to play?
- 1:07:05It usually ends up being us.
- 1:07:07you know what Lee just took the words out of my mouth if you can't get a winner or you've got a fella who hasn't scored in three years or something like that man just put him on the pitch and Everton will show you Everton will do it against Everton it's just always the way mate so but yeah I'm being optimistic the lads back should be up they should be feeling great about themselves to do a will to fight to the very end against United do you know I think the key to Saturday is and I really think this is the most important thing
- 1:07:38in the first 20 minutes.
- 1:07:39Because if you concede against them in them first 20 minutes, I can see it being a problem.
- 1:07:45If you can keep them out for 20, 30 minutes, mate, their crowd's not going to be happy.
- 1:07:49They haven't seen a goal.
- 1:07:50They're edgy, they're nervous.
- 1:07:52Even better, you can send them 1-0 behind.
- 1:07:55I think even going 1-0 up is a bit of a...
- 1:07:57I know this sounds stupid once again with my tiny pea brain, but going 1-0 up really early could be a bit of a risk as well because it forces them to come out fighting and really going for it.
- 1:08:07I just think quieting in the crowd,
- 1:08:10and being really reserved in the first 20 minutes is massive in this game because we don't need to give them anything and we don't need to give them anything that they really come out really fighting for, if that makes sense.
- 1:08:19Well, as long as Tierno has all our chances in the first 20 minutes, we'll be fine.
- 1:08:23We'll be all nice.
- 1:08:23Oh, shut up, you.
- 1:08:25Give the lad a break.
- 1:08:26He's trying his bloody best.
- 1:08:27I'm only joking.
- 1:08:28I'm only joking.
- 1:08:29I just want to see him do well.
- 1:08:31Jaws, you must see something in him, Oz.
- 1:08:34You're a player, you know.
- 1:08:37he's getting in the positions.
- 1:08:42That's something, isn't it?
- 1:08:45I've not given up on him.
- 1:08:48I do think, I do see moments and I do see things at times I think, oh, that was bright.
- 1:08:55But I could tell you a number of ex-professionals around who I speak to
- 1:09:02or not have given up on him, which is an incredible thing when he's your only striker.
- 1:09:08So I think we're going to have to get them back on board with regards to believing him.
- 1:09:12And by the way, these people I'm talking about, me included, we are behind him 100%.
- 1:09:17You support him.
- 1:09:19You want him to be successful.
- 1:09:22You just look at some of the things he does and wonder, I think the thing that is, the people I'm talking about,
- 1:09:29wonder would they have ever done that on a football pitch and the answer generally is no you know so I think that's where there's a little bit of frustration but he's still young sometimes things click sometimes something just happens to get you get you and as you've just mentioned four goals already one one out of three in the Premier League if he scores against Spurs suddenly that's that's a good return in your opening games he's not far off it so
- 1:09:55Yeah, being positive, hope it all comes together because, do you know what?
- 1:10:00We need him to.
- 1:10:01We've got one striker.
- 1:10:02Is it?
- 1:10:02It is half the battle.
- 1:10:04He's getting into the position, so he's getting the chances.
- 1:10:06It means he's in the right place.
- 1:10:08It's just now about tucking him away.
- 1:10:10Is it some weeks that he'll get to, some weeks he won't?
- 1:10:12What is that down to?
- 1:10:15just poor finishing really he is getting into some good positions as you said that's the positive thing more often than not he's getting into some good positions to finish his build up players needs a lot of work
- 1:10:31but you need the striker to get in there because, you know, as we always say, if the striker's not getting any chances, then you're looking at them and thinking, we can't get this guy a chance.
- 1:10:40He's always marked.
- 1:10:41He's easily marked.
- 1:10:41He can't get away from people.
- 1:10:44It's like playing without one.
- 1:10:46And then if that's the case, you hope that they hold the ball up well because they're not getting any thingies.
- 1:10:51You hope they hold the ball up well.
- 1:10:51With Ciano's,
- 1:10:53not been amazing in his link-up play.
- 1:10:55But then you forgive that if he's getting opportunities and scoring them.
- 1:10:59Whereas he's getting... That's where the whole frustration thing is.
- 1:11:02He's not holding the ball up well for us at the minute.
- 1:11:05And he is getting himself into chances, but he's not taking them at the moment.
- 1:11:09So when that happens, you get frustrated.
- 1:11:12But yeah, he keeps getting the chances.
- 1:11:14He keeps getting in there.
- 1:11:15He's given our creative players something to aim for at least.
- 1:11:20And he might just have a run where things go his way.
- 1:11:24Trust.
- 1:11:26Final thing, predictions for Saturday?
- 1:11:32Can I just ask you a question before we go?
- 1:11:34Would you both take a draw now?
- 1:11:37Ooh.
- 1:11:38That's the question I'm thinking.
- 1:11:40Yeah, I probably would.
- 1:11:41Would.
- 1:11:42Actually, I probably would.
- 1:11:45I'm going to sell you something now for the whole of the season.
- 1:11:48I'll take a point away from home every time besides the bottom three.
- 1:11:53I'll take a point away from home for every game away from home this season apart from the bottom three.
- 1:11:57And think about it.
- 1:11:58I'm saying this now based on, look at our former wife mom last season.
- 1:12:02It was fantastic.
- 1:12:03How many wins away from home last season did we get?
- 1:12:07I just think our home form has got to improve.
- 1:12:11That's the only reason I say that.
- 1:12:12I'm happy to take draws away from home if our home form improves.
- 1:12:16By that estimation, I mean, if I'm doing my maths right, that's...
- 1:12:2120 hang on 19 20 21 23 25 points so that's 25 points away from home that's an incredible return I mean so it's yeah that would be optimistic I'll tell you what I bet you haven't went that far off that last season for the return away from home no probably not and that's an exceptional and that's an exceptional sort of I think we're in and around that number hmm
- 1:12:47I think you've got to go and you've got to understand you won't win them all.
- 1:12:50You're going to lose a chunk of them.
- 1:12:52So you have to find wins somewhere.
- 1:12:55And you know what?
- 1:12:56Yeah.
- 1:12:57Start of this game.
- 1:12:58It's sort of that question.
- 1:12:59Would you take a point away from home?
- 1:13:00Yes.
- 1:13:02Satya now.
- 1:13:02Spurs have got a lot to play, but they have got a good squad.
- 1:13:05They're going to be right at it.
- 1:13:06You know what we're like when teams haven't scored for ages.
- 1:13:08They'll score again.
- 1:13:09So I would take a point, but...
- 1:13:11All of these conversations can only happen once the game's up and running and you're seeing how it's materialising and you're thinking, yeah, I'll take a point here, or we can't draw this game.
- 1:13:21We have been so good.
- 1:13:22We need to win this game.
- 1:13:23So you have to sort of gauge it as it's happening.
- 1:13:27Because that's why we think that the United game was a good point because we actually didn't deserve to lose, scored a last-minute win.
- 1:13:33And so we're all feeling positive about it.
- 1:13:35We're all feeling positive about that sort of point.
- 1:13:38Whereas if it was United that scored in the last minute, we'd be saying it's a disaster of a point.
- 1:13:43Do you know what I mean?
- 1:13:45So you have to sort of gauge it as it's happening.
- 1:13:46But right now, Satya, yes, they'll probably take points.
- 1:13:49Is this not a good time to play Spurs, though?
- 1:13:51It is the bottom of the league.
- 1:13:52Probably, yeah.
- 1:13:53It is, because it's the bottom of the league.
- 1:13:55So I feel like we should be taking advantage of that.
- 1:13:58We did well against Bournemouth away from home.
- 1:14:00We showed desire and grit to get that goal.
- 1:14:03I feel we could walk away with a 1-0 win, potentially.
- 1:14:06That's the dream.
- 1:14:0718-0 Barry, 1-0.
- 1:14:10That's fantastic.
- 1:14:11You know what, I'm going to go 2-0.
- 1:14:162-0.
- 1:14:17I was thinking 3-1 there for a second, but I'm going to go 2-0 to us.
- 1:14:22I'm going to go 2-1, Evan, but I'm not going to lie, I'll take 1-1 now.
- 1:14:27Fair.
- 1:14:28Well, to quote Tony in the past, let's hope that Spurs stay being Spurs-y.
- 1:14:32We walk away with all three points.
- 1:14:35Fingers crossed.
- 1:14:35Well,
