- 1:44Speaker 1: guest here the homie and uh, I wasn't gonna call
- 1:48Speaker 1: you Andy, Bro. Andy Mineo's here. What's up, bro? He said,
- 1:50Speaker 1: my last name right, So I got big respect. I'm
- 1:52Speaker 1: schelling man. Yeah. How often do you get like maneo
- 1:54Speaker 1: or oh, it's butchered every time? What is like the
- 1:59Speaker 1: most annoying renounciation for you, like when people get it
- 2:01Speaker 1: wrong mineo because it sounds like mayonnaise, So you know
- 2:05Speaker 1: that's the one. I'm like, I no respect, no respect,
- 2:09Speaker 1: no respect. At this point, I don't even care. It's
- 2:10Speaker 1: crazy because in one of my one of my bigger
- 2:13Speaker 1: records that went gold, that's say it in the record.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'm like, it's Mineo. Say it with me, Minio. Okay great.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Uh So you know they're like, I'm a huge fan man, Mineo.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I'm like, you've never heard a song in your life
- 2:28Speaker 1: because you would have at least heard that record. And
- 2:30Speaker 1: I'm happy to hear to hear that you like my
- 2:32Speaker 1: song that went viral on TikTok. Yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 2:35Speaker 1: That's right. I'm happy to hear you like coming in Hot.
- 2:37Speaker 1: That's right. That's right, huge, huge, fucking fit yo. So yeah,
- 2:43Speaker 1: of course, of course. Yeah, we're giving everyone free pubb
- 2:46Speaker 1: big shout out to a mountain. I meant check Ghost Energy,
- 2:49Speaker 1: need to cut that check. So has this been your
- 2:53Speaker 1: first time hitting the road since the world Yeah, fin
- 2:56Speaker 1: ste old panty. This is uh, you know, we actually
- 2:59Speaker 1: had a whole It's funny look on the back of this.
- 3:03Speaker 1: This is like the tour merch that was all the
- 3:05Speaker 1: cities we were supposed to hit, right, but it wasn't that.
- 3:08Speaker 1: It was only like what like eight or something, right
- 3:09Speaker 1: or right now we're only doing nine cities, right, But
- 3:13Speaker 1: on the you know, we had these pressed before the
- 3:15Speaker 1: whole thing shifted gear. But we were gonna do twenty
- 3:18Speaker 1: four cities or something like that. I had a whole band,
- 3:22Speaker 1: and basically what happened is when we started figuring out
- 3:26Speaker 1: what was going on with the mandates, what was also
- 3:28Speaker 1: happening with like if anybody gets sick, what you have
- 3:31Speaker 1: to deal with. We were like, yo, we can't take
- 3:33Speaker 1: this risk because financially, you could just sink yourself. So
- 3:36Speaker 1: it had a full band, and if one person gets sick,
- 3:40Speaker 1: you can't put them on the bus, you can't fly
- 3:42Speaker 1: him home. You have to leave them in that city
- 3:45Speaker 1: for ten days, pay for their hotels, pay them, pay
- 3:48Speaker 1: them their per diem, fly someone new end the same day,
- 3:52Speaker 1: have them learn all the parts, and then pay them.
- 3:54Speaker 1: So now you're paying double triple. And that's only if
- 3:56Speaker 1: one person gets sick. So imagine get right and then
- 3:59Speaker 1: you know that's going to happen, right, somebody get exposed.
- 4:02Speaker 1: So we was like, yo, we can't be out here
- 4:04Speaker 1: paying for thirty hotel you know, nights and doing so.
- 4:09Speaker 1: It just didn't make sense. So we just shrunk the
- 4:11Speaker 1: show down. We limited our exposure down to like seventeen
- 4:15Speaker 1: days on the road instead of forty, right, so if
- 4:18Speaker 1: anyone gets sick by the time, you know, we find out,
- 4:21Speaker 1: hopefully they can be home to quarantine. But everyone's good
- 4:24Speaker 1: so far. Damn. It's weird, man, it's a weird time.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Even the tour too. So that was gonna say, like
- 4:29Speaker 1: I know, like you know, the homies Chris Webby and
- 4:34Speaker 1: Dizzy and Futuristic had of tour that they just canceled
- 4:37Speaker 1: because of all the shit that was going and they
- 4:39Speaker 1: didn't want to deal with the mandates. Chris was like, Yo,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I'm not gonna make nobody. Who's my fan? Get mandyvac
- 4:46Speaker 1: see what I'm saying. So it's weird. Are you vaccinated?
- 4:50Speaker 1: I am? Yep. Yeah, you and me both, we're both
- 4:52Speaker 1: jabbed up. Yeah, I got the h I got ma
- 4:56Speaker 1: and me too. Pfizer poppies in the building. Yeah, my
- 4:58Speaker 1: dog got the Johnson and john And how's he doing
- 5:01Speaker 1: with your life? He's like, I'm barely vas know what
- 5:03Speaker 1: I'm doing now. Yo. The Johnson and Johnson just sounded
- 5:06Speaker 1: good because it was like, so it's just one and done, yeah,
- 5:09Speaker 1: and then everyone and then you grow, you know, a
- 5:12Speaker 1: third eye. So this is what it is. Yo. It's
- 5:14Speaker 1: crazy though, because we were talking like how the mandate
- 5:18Speaker 1: ship mat. I just feel like we're just living in
- 5:19Speaker 1: a very weird time. You were saying, how like some
- 5:21Speaker 1: of your California shows that usually would sell out aren't
- 5:24Speaker 1: selling how they usually would would because because a lot
- 5:26Speaker 1: of your fans are not wanting to adhere to some
- 5:30Speaker 1: of the local policies as far as vaccinations and et cetera.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And a lot of people moved so like you know,
- 5:37Speaker 1: I was saying I was hitting my community, and people, Yeah,
- 5:40Speaker 1: they just like, Oh, I don't even live there no more, Bro,
- 5:42Speaker 1: I'm gone. So this is the strangest selling. But what's
- 5:47Speaker 1: crazy is the rest of the tour has been selling
- 5:49Speaker 1: fun in the Southern states in Florida and Texas all that.
- 5:52Speaker 1: So it's like, I'm like, oh, I think it might
- 5:55Speaker 1: just be Cali on lockdown still, but I don't know.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Who knows. Man, It's just very strange, No, it is, man.
- 6:02Speaker 1: I feel like like like I just every day some
- 6:04Speaker 1: new shit happens and I'm like, are we fucking living
- 6:07Speaker 1: in a simulation? Yeah? Bro, the world has really changed,
- 6:11Speaker 1: and they're firing nurses out here for not getting vaccinated
- 6:15Speaker 1: and they were working during the pandemic. What the fuck
- 6:17Speaker 1: is going on? Like a lot of nurses also not
- 6:20Speaker 1: want to get vaxed. I'm like, there's so many there's
- 6:22Speaker 1: just so many angles. It's like, what is happening? Yeah,
- 6:25Speaker 1: Like why are the like? Yeah, it's just it's it's crazy, bro,
- 6:29Speaker 1: I don't know, boy our boy Kyrie not gonna be
- 6:32Speaker 1: able to play in New York and what's psychotic? You
- 6:35Speaker 1: know what's wild is I don't know if this is true,
- 6:37Speaker 1: but I saw on Twitter someone had said that Michael
- 6:42Speaker 1: Porter Junior is going to be able to play in
- 6:45Speaker 1: New York and he's not getting vaccinated. So when he
- 6:47Speaker 1: comes to New York, he's gonna be able to play,
- 6:49Speaker 1: but they won't like Kyrie play, which would be kind
- 6:52Speaker 1: of wild. Maybe because he's I don't know, maybe because
- 6:58Speaker 1: New York pays him what, you know, he's in different states.
- 7:01Speaker 1: He's going to play different taxes for merch that I sell.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That that might make sense because he's all his tax
- 7:07Speaker 1: money's coming through New York. Maybe maybe the Kyrie shit
- 7:11Speaker 1: is crazy though it is wild. Shout out MPJ. I
- 7:14Speaker 1: did a little MPJ freestyle. He's gonna pop out and
- 7:18Speaker 1: done right next week. Oh really Yeah, it's the homie man,
- 7:21Speaker 1: Michael Porter Junior popping out at the show. Yeah, it's
- 7:23Speaker 1: gonna pop out, und axed, unvaxxed at a show. Might
- 7:29Speaker 1: have to you might be the reason why the Nuggets
- 7:33Speaker 1: have a breakout. He's not coming. He's not coming to
- 7:37Speaker 1: the show. There's the kind of fire if you had
- 7:40Speaker 1: him pull up though. Yeah. I mean he's on my
- 7:42Speaker 1: fantasy basketball team, so okay, perfect. I hope oh you
- 7:46Speaker 1: got him. Yeah. I think a lot of people let
- 7:49Speaker 1: him slip because they were like, he's not vaxed. I'm like,
- 7:51Speaker 1: fuck that. Oh yeah, okay, run me, MPJ baby and
- 7:55Speaker 1: have a breakout your and could definitely hurt your fantasy
- 7:58Speaker 1: if he gets if you go out for a week,
- 8:00Speaker 1: you know what. It's crazy about it. When I was
- 8:02Speaker 1: talking with MPJ, we did like a I did a
- 8:04Speaker 1: freestyle before the album came, MPJ freestyle. So he jumped
- 8:08Speaker 1: on a live with me. He was talking a little
- 8:10Speaker 1: bit and he said when he actually got COVID right
- 8:13Speaker 1: before the bubble, and what happens is after you get COVID,
- 8:17Speaker 1: it could take like months for you to get a
- 8:20Speaker 1: negative test, right, So these antibodies hanging around exactly, just hanging.
- 8:25Speaker 1: So he was like, yo, I almost couldn't play in
- 8:27Speaker 1: the bubble because even though I had it a month before,
- 8:29Speaker 1: I couldn't produce a negative test. And so it just
- 8:32Speaker 1: you kept up to get tested every single day until
- 8:34Speaker 1: you finally get that green light. But that's I mean.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I was gonna do some overseas travel this year and
- 8:41Speaker 1: I got COVID and I couldn't reproduce a negative test,
- 8:43Speaker 1: and so we were just like, I can't go to
- 8:45Speaker 1: Italy and then be stuck over there? Are you Italian? Yeah? Yeah, OK,
- 8:51Speaker 1: So I'm like I can't go over there? Are you talking? No? No, No,
- 8:54Speaker 1: I'm just a lot of Caucasidy, German and Irish Russian,
- 8:59Speaker 1: just the kids of Heinzweise. He's got blue eyes. It's
- 9:03Speaker 1: one of this. Yeah, that's what it is. No? What what?
- 9:08Speaker 1: What was? You're just a fan of Michael Porter Jr.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Like how did it? Like? Like, yeah, he came out
- 9:13Speaker 1: to a few of the shows a couple of years
- 9:14Speaker 1: ago as he was getting ready to go to the league,
- 9:17Speaker 1: and we would just kick it when being Denver and
- 9:19Speaker 1: then I had a line in this just like freestyle.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I was writing. I was like, there's a lot of
- 9:26Speaker 1: merried men in the NBA. GOT showed these in Cities
- 9:29Speaker 1: on n DA's love keep your Hand on MPJ dyn
- 9:32Speaker 1: keep his pants on n Behave. I was just like,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I like that. It's like, oh, I should just call
- 9:37Speaker 1: u MPJ freestyle. So I did, and then he just
- 9:40Speaker 1: happened to be the homie. So it's like, Yo, I
- 9:43Speaker 1: named the song after you, and he's like, you know,
- 9:46Speaker 1: promoted it, jumped on IG Live. But yeah, it kind
- 9:49Speaker 1: of just happened that way. You're obviously a big basketball guy,
- 9:52Speaker 1: are you. Are you a Knicks fan or what's your team?
- 9:55Speaker 1: So this is strange. I'm actually none of them. None
- 9:58Speaker 1: of my teams are from New York, even though I'm
- 10:00Speaker 1: from New York. Right, I'm a Utah Jazz fan. Are
- 10:04Speaker 1: you Mormon? Yes? One hundred Mormon? Uh to me in
- 10:09Speaker 1: my seventeen wives, No, shout out to the Mormons out there,
- 10:11Speaker 1: choose the right. Yeah, nah, I just I grew up
- 10:16Speaker 1: Stockton Malone. That's an interesting uh horn of sack. You
- 10:21Speaker 1: know what? Always it was be a kid growing up
- 10:22Speaker 1: the same time we grew up in to be like,
- 10:24Speaker 1: you know what, HORNI sacks stocked in? Those are my guys,
- 10:27Speaker 1: you know, yeah, yeah, you got Jordan dunkan Off, yeah
- 10:29Speaker 1: right right, right right, yeah, you know what it was.
- 10:31Speaker 1: It was just like one I like their jerseys, the
- 10:35Speaker 1: Utah Jazz, Like the jerseys were fired and they have
- 10:38Speaker 1: music notes on all and then it was just like
- 10:40Speaker 1: seeing these unassuming high shorts, white dude balling out. I
- 10:45Speaker 1: was just like, Wow, I have a chance. Yeah, I
- 10:48Speaker 1: have a chance. Maybe I can make the league. So
- 10:51Speaker 1: seeing stocked in it was always so funny. I'll hear
- 10:54Speaker 1: these stories about John Stockton. It would just make me
- 10:56Speaker 1: crack up. So like Gary Payton would try to like
- 11:00Speaker 1: get in Stockton's head right and he's like, uh, He's
- 11:04Speaker 1: like I banged your mom last night on the court
- 11:06Speaker 1: and stocked him and just be like she's a great lady.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Just run up there, yo, Like just wouldn't let people
- 11:12Speaker 1: into Psyche's a great leg. And he's like, oh, I'm
- 11:15Speaker 1: gonna shove a banana up here, and he's like tons
- 11:18Speaker 1: of protein and tons of potassium and just run up
- 11:21Speaker 1: the cart. I'm like, Yo, this dude is just And
- 11:24Speaker 1: then he would walk around for the uh uh. The Olympics,
- 11:28Speaker 1: and no one would bother him. I'm just like an
- 11:29Speaker 1: unassuming no. He always would have a little collared shirt on. Yeah,
- 11:33Speaker 1: just balling out. I just always thought that was so funny. So,
- 11:36Speaker 1: so you're a Jazz fan, that's like your number one team. Yeah.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I mean, but I'm gonna keep it a buck. I
- 11:41Speaker 1: don't follow that, are you okay? You know what I'm saying.
- 11:45Speaker 1: It's just like I'll catch a game here and there,
- 11:47Speaker 1: but it's kind of that's my childhood team, and and
- 11:50Speaker 1: so I stick with them. It's like Green Bay Packers
- 11:52Speaker 1: on my football team. But I had to do with
- 11:55Speaker 1: like Farve the Lambeau leap, cheese on your head. It
- 12:00Speaker 1: was like I was watching the game with my sister
- 12:02Speaker 1: when I was a kid, and they did the Lambo leap.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I was like, why they why they jumping in the crowd.
- 12:06Speaker 1: She's like, that's what they do at Lambo. I was like,
- 12:08Speaker 1: it's like a stage dive right right. I was like,
- 12:10Speaker 1: why they got cheese on their heads? Like they produced
- 12:12Speaker 1: a lot of I was like, that's it. That's my man.
- 12:14Speaker 1: He's gonna have a square on you. Like, that's so
- 12:16Speaker 1: crazy to me. So Hey, shout out to the packers
- 12:20Speaker 1: and uh and to uh the the jazz of Utah.
- 12:23Speaker 1: That's it. Yeah, shout out them like yeah pirates how
- 12:27Speaker 1: like their logo? So weird kid? How was uh you
- 12:30Speaker 1: do you go to Utah on tour? No? We got
- 12:32Speaker 1: an off day coming up on our way to Denver,
- 12:35Speaker 1: stop in, stop in the Salt Lake save what's up
- 12:39Speaker 1: to some of the the Mormon homies, absolutely Mormon homies
- 12:43Speaker 1: and their six wives. Uh. Yeah, we're gonna try to
- 12:46Speaker 1: get an off day. I mean, they're all gonna get
- 12:48Speaker 1: their own planets, by the way too, when they die.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Is that in the contract I grew I grew up
- 12:53Speaker 1: in Mesa, Arizona, which is the second largest Mormon population
- 12:57Speaker 1: in the world. So yeah, it's pretty wild. Yeah. Where
- 12:59Speaker 1: do you land on religion stuff these days? I'm an
- 13:02Speaker 1: atheist atheist? Yeah, you're like, Okay, I just want to
- 13:05Speaker 1: ask you because I hear people call you a Christian rapper,
- 13:09Speaker 1: and I listen to your music and obviously there's like
- 13:13Speaker 1: like stuff in there that's like godly right like lines.
- 13:17Speaker 1: But it's not like I don't look at you that way.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I just look at you as like a rapper who
- 13:21Speaker 1: happens to be a Christian as opposed to be in
- 13:24Speaker 1: like a because you know, when I grew up, man
- 13:25Speaker 1: Christian rappers corny as fuck, and I feel like La
- 13:30Speaker 1: Craze was like the first guy to come along to
- 13:32Speaker 1: be like, oh no, he's just dope. But he also,
- 13:35Speaker 1: you know, is obviously like how do you do you
- 13:37Speaker 1: consider yourself like quote unquote Christian rapper or is that
- 13:40Speaker 1: something that you embrace well for It's an interesting commo
- 13:43Speaker 1: because for years I've just tried to like just be like, yo,
- 13:47Speaker 1: can I just be a rapper and be a part
- 13:49Speaker 1: of the community, because I always felt like in some
- 13:51Speaker 1: way in hip hop, to be called something before your title,
- 13:56Speaker 1: like a female rapper, a gay whatever, a Christian so
- 14:02Speaker 1: you know, gender orientation or religion, anything those that preceded title,
- 14:06Speaker 1: it always feels like it marginalizes, like right away people
- 14:08Speaker 1: already have yeah, so it's like, oh, that's a female rapper, right,
- 14:12Speaker 1: you know, it's all those things. So I tried to
- 14:15Speaker 1: just be like, man, I feel like I'm just a
- 14:17Speaker 1: part of hip hop, but I am a Christian, So
- 14:19Speaker 1: I would never deny being a Christian, right, just be
- 14:22Speaker 1: like that title it's a weird It's a weird conversation
- 14:26Speaker 1: because people be like, oh, yeah, we'll play you on Sunday.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Then you know, on the radio, you're like, what I take.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I took a meeting one time. One of my albums,
- 14:36Speaker 1: the first Neverland, it was like doing really well on
- 14:38Speaker 1: the charts. I took a meeting at this is fifty
- 14:41Speaker 1: and fifty cent was there and so I walked by him.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I was like, yo, what's up? Man? He was like
- 14:45Speaker 1: lifting weights and he was like, you know, didn't give
- 14:49Speaker 1: me no time. He was like yeah, yeah, what up?
- 14:51Speaker 1: And then his man was like, yo, he got the
- 14:52Speaker 1: number one album on iTunes right now. And then he
- 14:55Speaker 1: was like, oh, word, coming to my office right. So
- 14:58Speaker 1: I ended up hanging out with fifty for like two hours. Random.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I'm like, I looked at my manager. I was like, yo,
- 15:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna go in the office. Yeah, And I went
- 15:07Speaker 1: in and he just started asking me questions because you
- 15:09Speaker 1: know at that time, like he's just a smart dude.
- 15:11Speaker 1: He wants to learn. So he's like, you had a
- 15:13Speaker 1: number one album, like what's going on? Starts asking me
- 15:16Speaker 1: all these questions. I start telling them about this. I'm like, yo,
- 15:19Speaker 1: When I first started, like, you know, ten years plus
- 15:24Speaker 1: years ago, I had some very explicitly Christian bars. I
- 15:29Speaker 1: was juiced up about my relationship with Jesus, you know,
- 15:33Speaker 1: so I think that's where that initial thing comes from,
- 15:37Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And a lot of my
- 15:39Speaker 1: core fans share those same ideals, right, so you get that.
- 15:43Speaker 1: But over the years, just my sound, my view, the
- 15:45Speaker 1: way I approach things has evolved. And so anyways, when
- 15:50Speaker 1: I was talking with him, he was like, yeah, bro,
- 15:51Speaker 1: people are going to try to if you continue basically like,
- 15:55Speaker 1: if people continue to see you that way and just
- 15:57Speaker 1: not a part of hip hop, they're going to try
- 15:58Speaker 1: to marginalize you to the Gospel Hour on Sunday or something,
- 16:02Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And I was like, oh man,
- 16:04Speaker 1: that was never my intention. But at the end of
- 16:07Speaker 1: the day, I've just let go of trying to control
- 16:10Speaker 1: that narrative to a degree because it's like, you're just
- 16:13Speaker 1: gonna do you and like people feel how they feel.
- 16:15Speaker 1: That's it. Man, at the end of the day, you
- 16:17Speaker 1: can't really control it. And it's also it's like when
- 16:21Speaker 1: you tell people, hey, man, I don't really call myself that,
- 16:23Speaker 1: then that becomes the headline of the interview, and it
- 16:28Speaker 1: just it's a circle, you know what I'm saying. So
- 16:29Speaker 1: I'm like, whatever y'all want to call it, is the
- 16:32Speaker 1: music dope. I was like, like, I think, like, you know,
- 16:35Speaker 1: if you think of Kanye when he first came out,
- 16:37Speaker 1: like you know, outside of his mixtape shit, but you know,
- 16:40Speaker 1: if we think of Jesus walks like yeah, Jesus. Like,
- 16:42Speaker 1: people didn't look at Kanye as like a Christian rapper.
- 16:44Speaker 1: They just looked at him as like, oh shit, this
- 16:46Speaker 1: is a rapper that's did a song about Jesus. This
- 16:49Speaker 1: is different. And it was hard because I think up
- 16:51Speaker 1: until that song, any songs about God and like hip
- 16:54Speaker 1: hop were always like I remember, you know, I grew
- 16:57Speaker 1: up around a bunch of hardcore Christians that used to
- 17:00Speaker 1: have Channel twenty one on in Phoenix, which was like
- 17:02Speaker 1: the Christian channel, and it would be the wackiest fucking music. Really,
- 17:06Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. There was some guy named damn it.
- 17:10Speaker 1: What was the guy's name, Carmen, I don't know. There
- 17:13Speaker 1: was this dude I got that's like, do you know
- 17:15Speaker 1: what I'm talking about? You know what I'm talking about?
- 17:18Speaker 1: I do? And then Kirk Franklin obviously was like, you
- 17:21Speaker 1: know who kind of crossed over a bit. You know,
- 17:23Speaker 1: he did gospel and then he had some he put
- 17:25Speaker 1: some rap stuff in there. Yeah, Like what's it? I
- 17:28Speaker 1: was going to ask you, like for you, like do
- 17:31Speaker 1: you what you collabor like, like do you kind of
- 17:34Speaker 1: watch who you collaborate with if they don't kind of
- 17:36Speaker 1: align with like where you are? Well? Yeah, I think
- 17:39Speaker 1: like as just a as a man with principles, like
- 17:43Speaker 1: I want to create the way I want to create
- 17:45Speaker 1: art is I have some brand filters for myself. I
- 17:48Speaker 1: always want to make things that I think are incredibly dope,
- 17:51Speaker 1: artistically excellent, but I also want things that are wholesome,
- 17:54Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So, like, you don't cuss
- 17:56Speaker 1: in your music, right? Nah? I don't. I saw music
- 18:01Speaker 1: as like a dividing something that like divided me and
- 18:04Speaker 1: my my family. And at a certain point time, you know,
- 18:07Speaker 1: I get in the car on my cannabis, cit'd be
- 18:09Speaker 1: broken in half for you know what I'm saying. So
- 18:11Speaker 1: my mom just was like, nah, you can't play it.
- 18:13Speaker 1: She just didn't, you know, when you're fourteen fifty appreciate
- 18:16Speaker 1: it retarded. Yeah, she didn't she did. But now it's
- 18:21Speaker 1: a great song by the way it is. It's it's
- 18:24Speaker 1: not PC anymore, right, and word nometry yes and second
- 18:30Speaker 1: round ko. So yeah, but now it's it's cool to
- 18:34Speaker 1: see the music that I make is able to bring
- 18:36Speaker 1: people together. I'll see, like at a show, a guy
- 18:38Speaker 1: will be there and he'll bring his son. He's like,
- 18:40Speaker 1: this is my twelve year old son. It's his first
- 18:42Speaker 1: concert ever and we get to come and do this together.
- 18:45Speaker 1: You know, that's crazy. So yeah, when I go to
- 18:48Speaker 1: do collaborations like I've done, you know, I've had collaborations
- 18:53Speaker 1: with people from all different walks of life and world views.
- 18:56Speaker 1: But we just try to make sure that when we
- 18:57Speaker 1: create something, we create something that your fan be aligned with.
- 19:00Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like, there's middle ground, there's
- 19:02Speaker 1: there's stuff we can create. So Fonte just jumped on
- 19:05Speaker 1: the record and we did something that was great. So yeah,
- 19:09Speaker 1: little brother man one of the greatest. I just had
- 19:11Speaker 1: a conversation with Looke from Dreamville about because his manager's
- 19:15Speaker 1: big pooh, oh my gosh, they moved. Yeah, So he's
- 19:21Speaker 1: got a little brother on this album, the Dreamville album
- 19:23Speaker 1: that just came out, Gold Mouth and I was like,
- 19:25Speaker 1: he's from North Carolina. I was like, you realize how
- 19:28Speaker 1: big of a deal that is? M He's like, bro, Honestly,
- 19:31Speaker 1: I didn't really even fucking know about a Little Brother
- 19:33Speaker 1: until like six years ago, and then I started working
- 19:36Speaker 1: with Pooh. You know, he really hadn't like tapped into
- 19:39Speaker 1: the music, but little Brother. Yeah, Fante, how'd you link
- 19:41Speaker 1: up with Fante? I just hit him on Twitter? You're
- 19:44Speaker 1: just a fan? Right? Yeah. I was just working on
- 19:48Speaker 1: this last project and I was like, oh, Fante would
- 19:51Speaker 1: sound crazy on this. Actually, Dell, my manager, was like
- 19:54Speaker 1: I think he'd I was like, oh yeah, just shoot
- 19:57Speaker 1: my shot. Most of a lot of the connections of
- 19:59Speaker 1: relations have you've just been that and then you find
- 20:01Speaker 1: out somehow that they're a fan of you. Listen, like
- 20:04Speaker 1: me and John Bellian connected off of Twitter just years ago. Yo, man,
- 20:09Speaker 1: I love your stuff. Yo, I love you know, I
- 20:12Speaker 1: love your stuff. Let's link up, start playing basketball and
- 20:15Speaker 1: now you know. So it's just yeah, you never know
- 20:18Speaker 1: who's really listening or you know who's and at the
- 20:21Speaker 1: moment you're you're independent, right No. So I just finished
- 20:24Speaker 1: my deal with Reach Records, and basically it's just like
- 20:30Speaker 1: we got to renegotiate terms, but at the moment, you're
- 20:33Speaker 1: like a free agent. At technically technically, I mean, the
- 20:36Speaker 1: album came out like two weeks ago, so I haven't
- 20:38Speaker 1: you know, and then I went straight on tour, so
- 20:39Speaker 1: I haven't even sat down to sort through any of
- 20:41Speaker 1: that yet. But I guess technically you could say that
- 20:45Speaker 1: the figure everything out. Yeah. Yo, It's crazy because when
- 20:47Speaker 1: you have a record like coming in Hot, which is like,
- 20:51Speaker 1: how long after the song came out, did it like
- 20:53Speaker 1: really start to pick up on like TikTok, Because I
- 20:57Speaker 1: feel like it wasn't right away right right well amongst
- 20:59Speaker 1: our my core fan base, like it did really well,
- 21:03Speaker 1: and then it was twenty eighteen, I did it to
- 21:06Speaker 1: go on tour? Me and the Craig went on tour.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Did it went on tour? It did great, and then
- 21:12Speaker 1: it died off for a second, and then Steph Curry
- 21:16Speaker 1: started using it and then it got used in like
- 21:18Speaker 1: a under Armor commercial or something like that. Then they
- 21:21Speaker 1: went to the finals. Then the finals used it, so
- 21:24Speaker 1: then they had another pickup, then it died down. Then
- 21:27Speaker 1: Will Smith used it to announce that he was on TikTok,
- 21:30Speaker 1: and then it has the moment. So it just has
- 21:32Speaker 1: all these waves of like so far influencers and then
- 21:35Speaker 1: Kim Kardashian post with it. Then it has another uptick.
- 21:37Speaker 1: And that's the thing. We live in an era of
- 21:40Speaker 1: land mines, not rocket ships, you know what I'm saying.
- 21:42Speaker 1: So it's like a record could be sitting around and
- 21:45Speaker 1: someone stumbles on it uses it. Oh, it's crazy, it's crazy. Yeah.
- 21:48Speaker 1: You know songs from like twenty fourteen going crazy. You're like, yeah,
- 21:51Speaker 1: I was thinking like that, the wiz and tid ole
- 21:53Speaker 1: of side song something New was like what was that
- 21:56Speaker 1: like twenty seventeen, and then like twenty twenty went razy,
- 22:00Speaker 1: just went crazy like it's it's it's wild. Yeah, and
- 22:04Speaker 1: you got a plaque off that record, right, Yeah, we
- 22:06Speaker 1: just got another goal. It's type man. I mean for
- 22:10Speaker 1: being it's an independent label and no radio play, to
- 22:13Speaker 1: be able to have a couple of plaques, you know
- 22:15Speaker 1: from what we do, it's a huge, man. It's dope. Man.
- 22:17Speaker 1: It's really shout out to the fans who support us,
- 22:20Speaker 1: like they come out for real. You know. No, that's
- 22:23Speaker 1: a I think I know how hard it is to
- 22:25Speaker 1: get a fucking plaque. Yeah, yeah, especially on an independent label.
- 22:30Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. You know, we don't. We don't. Yeah,
- 22:35Speaker 1: like we've never ever played radio ever. Yeah, I was
- 22:39Speaker 1: gonna ask, did you guys ever consider like bringing on
- 22:41Speaker 1: someone to help you work that record to radio. Well,
- 22:45Speaker 1: so at the at the time La Craye up did
- 22:48Speaker 1: like an up deal with Columbia, So he did the
- 22:51Speaker 1: records with t remember radio with that, So at the
- 22:56Speaker 1: time he was with them, And uh, I think that
- 23:01Speaker 1: was something that was in consideration, is like up cycling
- 23:03Speaker 1: through them so that they could run it. But basically,
- 23:06Speaker 1: from what I understand is like nobody wants to put
- 23:09Speaker 1: their neck on the line at the label for a
- 23:13Speaker 1: record because if it doesn't work, then it basically cost
- 23:16Speaker 1: them their job. So I just don't think there was
- 23:18Speaker 1: enough people that believed in it to push the boos,
- 23:21Speaker 1: cause I think it like I think that record could have,
- 23:22Speaker 1: Like I think of that astronom The Ocean Song was
- 23:25Speaker 1: like top ten of radio and it was just not
- 23:28Speaker 1: as tight as yourself. It was like a very novelty,
- 23:32Speaker 1: novelty like TikTok record. Yeah, but I'm crazy, yeah crazy,
- 23:37Speaker 1: and yeah absolutely, but what's dope about what you're doing?
- 23:40Speaker 1: Is like you got you had one of those, but
- 23:42Speaker 1: like you have you could tour, you have like for
- 23:45Speaker 1: sure built in like real following, right because we've been
- 23:48Speaker 1: at it, you know before that record and so and
- 23:51Speaker 1: I've had plaques before that. So it's like, you know,
- 23:54Speaker 1: we we've proven that we do this. You know what
- 23:56Speaker 1: I'm saying, Hey, what up? Man? We got to interrupt
- 23:57Speaker 1: the interview real quick to tell you about our family
- 24:00Speaker 1: at odd Socks. Now. When I be riding for odd

- 25:04Speaker 1: Let's get back to the interview I saw on YouTube.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Is it your Are you you're married? Yep? Okay, so
- 25:10Speaker 1: I saw you and your wife were talking about your
- 25:12Speaker 1: real estate investments and what you guys do in the
- 25:14Speaker 1: real estate gap. Ye. So kind of shed some light
- 25:17Speaker 1: on that because the real estate world right now is crazy.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Everything's super high. So we've been in New York City
- 25:24Speaker 1: for the last thirteen years. I grew up in Syracuse,
- 25:27Speaker 1: upstate New York. Then I went to New York City
- 25:29Speaker 1: and then we just right before the pandemic, we moved
- 25:32Speaker 1: down to Atlanta. The label was down there, cost of
- 25:36Speaker 1: lit living was quality of life, everything you know, it
- 25:40Speaker 1: was just like, I'm out. I couldn't do another New
- 25:42Speaker 1: York Winner. Bro. I was just my my triple fat
- 25:45Speaker 1: goose had seen enough. Yeah. So I we went down
- 25:49Speaker 1: there and we bought our first property, and then we
- 25:52Speaker 1: just the agent. We connected Jay Rich. He just like
- 25:56Speaker 1: he knows all of Atlanta and he ends up being
- 25:59Speaker 1: a friend and a and all that. So he's just
- 26:02Speaker 1: been kind of steering us and we started investing in
- 26:04Speaker 1: this neighborhood that's just going crazy. And so we just
- 26:08Speaker 1: this past week we picked up our fourth property. Wow.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Two years I was on we were on tour and
- 26:14Speaker 1: I had to like stop off at a notary and
- 26:16Speaker 1: sign and uh, it's funny, man, because like that same day,
- 26:20Speaker 1: I had a friend pop out. He's from Syracuse, he
- 26:24Speaker 1: lived in Orland. We popped out ox and he was like, yo,
- 26:27Speaker 1: when you're gonna when you're gonna pop out with something,
- 26:30Speaker 1: He was like, when you gonna post all out, like
- 26:33Speaker 1: let your nuts say, you know, say like get a chain,
- 26:35Speaker 1: get a car. I was like, get over the property.
- 26:37Speaker 1: I'm buying real estate. He was like, oh, you know,
- 26:41Speaker 1: it's funny. I was like, dang, I really don't I
- 26:45Speaker 1: really don't be pulling out the flex. We just kind
- 26:47Speaker 1: of investing in what the future looks like for us,
- 26:50Speaker 1: because in my mind, you know, this game of music
- 26:53Speaker 1: is very similar to sports. It's like you can have
- 26:56Speaker 1: like a little window where you can go crazy, and
- 26:58Speaker 1: then after that people are like, what's new, What's next.
- 27:01Speaker 1: So it's dope that I've been able to continue to
- 27:04Speaker 1: do what I do and and have a fan base
- 27:06Speaker 1: and stuff still keeps growing. But I just kind of
- 27:09Speaker 1: want to plan for if I ever want to not
- 27:12Speaker 1: have to go on tour or you know what I'm saying,
- 27:14Speaker 1: say yes to shows I don't want to know. I mean, look,
- 27:17Speaker 1: there's artists out whose lifeline is literally touring, you know,
- 27:20Speaker 1: like like it's it's it's without the live shows, Like
- 27:24Speaker 1: that's that's what they depend on the pay their bills, right,
- 27:27Speaker 1: some wrap to pay the bill. Yeah, I don't. I
- 27:29Speaker 1: don't want to be in that position. And I want
- 27:31Speaker 1: to have kids eventually, you know what I'm saying. Me
- 27:33Speaker 1: and my wife and we like, man, I still want
- 27:35Speaker 1: to be running around like this, you know what I'm saying.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I think like there's like independent rappers without saying names,
- 27:41Speaker 1: but like their tour all year long, every year it's
- 27:44Speaker 1: a tour and it's like they're dope, incredible artists, but
- 27:47Speaker 1: it's like fuck, like yeah, fifty five dates every year,
- 27:52Speaker 1: like half your life is on the road, right, That's right.
- 27:56Speaker 1: It's like I couldn't imagine doing that too. Yeah. Yeah,
- 27:59Speaker 1: it just depends on what you value, you know what
- 28:01Speaker 1: I'm saying. So like, for me, time is the biggest thing.
- 28:03Speaker 1: So if I can invest in real estate, our game
- 28:06Speaker 1: plan is to basically have enough properties that generate passive
- 28:09Speaker 1: income for us that anything music related is just And
- 28:13Speaker 1: so it's like the lifestyles paid for. We got time back.
- 28:15Speaker 1: We can do what we want. And you know, I
- 28:17Speaker 1: think that's going to be the next phase is you're
- 28:20Speaker 1: just you're just like having like a tenants or you're
- 28:23Speaker 1: doing the airbnb thing or yeah. So we did airbnb
- 28:26Speaker 1: for a little bit, and then the pandemic hit, so
- 28:28Speaker 1: that it was like, I know, I was at old body,
- 28:30Speaker 1: I was at an Airbnb in Atlanta for sure, for
- 28:31Speaker 1: like a week really Yeah, in January, it was cool
- 28:34Speaker 1: as shit. Yeah, we had we had to be running
- 28:37Speaker 1: and it's started to pick up, was going great, and
- 28:39Speaker 1: then the pandemic hit and nobody was traveling, so then
- 28:41Speaker 1: we had to turn it into long form rental or whatever.
- 28:44Speaker 1: And so that's been the game plan. Man, just like
- 28:46Speaker 1: rentals right now because the mortgage is paid, the cash flows,
- 28:50Speaker 1: you know, So that's for those watching. Cash flow is
- 28:53Speaker 1: anything over what you what your cost is, what your
- 28:56Speaker 1: cost is, and so the goal for us is just
- 28:59Speaker 1: have that. And right now the interest rate is killer, right,
- 29:02Speaker 1: so very very good interest rates. So it helps with
- 29:04Speaker 1: your cash flow because your payments going to be less. Yeah. Absolutely, yeah, man,
- 29:09Speaker 1: we just invest in many. I was gonna say, any
- 29:11Speaker 1: advice you'ld give for someone who's watching this that wants
- 29:13Speaker 1: to get into the real estate shit, because I do
- 29:14Speaker 1: feel like it's like a weird time where the properties
- 29:17Speaker 1: cost more than ever, but the interest rates are lower
- 29:19Speaker 1: than ever. So it's like it's like a do I
- 29:22Speaker 1: get it? Now? Do I wait? Man? I could talk
- 29:24Speaker 1: about real estate stuff forever, but basically I would start
- 29:27Speaker 1: with reading books. There's this a platform called Bigger Pockets.
- 29:31Speaker 1: My wife loves it. She goes on there. Basically anything
- 29:36Speaker 1: you can think of, like any topic. They've tackled it,
- 29:38Speaker 1: they've done books on it, they've done podcasts all that. Uh,
- 29:42Speaker 1: that's a great start for me. I just started with
- 29:44Speaker 1: rich Dad, Poor Dad, which was like, yeah, I love
- 29:47Speaker 1: I read that shit in high school. Yeah, it was
- 29:49Speaker 1: just a change in my mindset and help me understand
- 29:51Speaker 1: what the difference between assets and liabilities were. Right, Like cars,
- 29:55Speaker 1: even though they're dope, they're depreciating. Liabilities they cost your
- 29:58Speaker 1: money everybody where assets are things that grow in value.
- 30:02Speaker 1: So I make a song, I put it out right,
- 30:05Speaker 1: it's while I'm sleeping. It's generating money while I'm sleeping.
- 30:08Speaker 1: My car is costing me money, right, because it's going
- 30:11Speaker 1: down to that. So trying to figure out how to
- 30:14Speaker 1: develop more assets, which is one of the reasons we moved,
- 30:16Speaker 1: start buying property, start investing in things that will grow.
- 30:20Speaker 1: So that was like a starter kit for my mentality.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Then it was you know, other books, and so I
- 30:25Speaker 1: would say start there too. For real estate stuff, it's
- 30:31Speaker 1: like this. My wife has a really good example. She says,
- 30:35Speaker 1: if you want to buy property, there's basically a scale
- 30:38Speaker 1: of comfort and cost. So if the more willing you
- 30:43Speaker 1: are to be uncomfortable, the better the price. Right, So
- 30:46Speaker 1: that's the sliding scale, and so you're like, oh, I
- 30:50Speaker 1: want to get a really well priced, you know property.
- 30:53Speaker 1: It's like, all right, you might be in the hood
- 30:55Speaker 1: for three years, you know what I'm saying. Or you're like, no,
- 30:57Speaker 1: I want to live in the best eyes. It's going
- 30:59Speaker 1: to cost you small spot that's right, or a small
- 31:01Speaker 1: spot or whatever it is. So you have to weigh
- 31:04Speaker 1: that out. And for me and my wife it was like, yo,
- 31:07Speaker 1: we down, we down to thug it out for a
- 31:10Speaker 1: couple of years and really just like put our head
- 31:12Speaker 1: down and buy property and you know, not you know,
- 31:16Speaker 1: not ball out, you know what I'm saying. So we
- 31:19Speaker 1: did that and it's been incredible for us. So that
- 31:22Speaker 1: sliding scale I help you determine what you want to
- 31:24Speaker 1: do too, is like if you can, if you know
- 31:26Speaker 1: how to rehab or like fix these joints up, or
- 31:28Speaker 1: you have people, you know, contractors, that's really the end
- 31:32Speaker 1: is you got to buy a crappy property and fix it,
- 31:34Speaker 1: fix it up, and that's how you get good prices,
- 31:36Speaker 1: and that's how you add value fire, you know, and
- 31:38Speaker 1: you gotta be ready to go. It's like when deals
- 31:41Speaker 1: come across the table, how's your guys's credit scores? Fire?
- 31:45Speaker 1: It's perfect, perfect, crazy. I got like over eight hundred
- 31:48Speaker 1: or something like. Was that something that's been consistent for
- 31:51Speaker 1: you or did you like have to handle some shit
- 31:53Speaker 1: to get it up to that? Bro? You know what,
- 31:55Speaker 1: I'm I'm weird, but I've just been good with money,
- 31:57Speaker 1: like since I was young. So when I was in
- 31:59Speaker 1: my twenties, I was I was doing these shows, i
- 32:01Speaker 1: was selling merch online doing I'm just kind of entrepreneurial.
- 32:05Speaker 1: And I had like, I take the money I make.
- 32:09Speaker 1: I pull up these spreadsheets on Google and I just
- 32:12Speaker 1: be like, all right, this money I'm gonna give here,
- 32:14Speaker 1: this is for saving. I even created a marriage account
- 32:18Speaker 1: when I was single. It's crazy. I'd take a little
- 32:21Speaker 1: slice of every check and I just like put some
- 32:23Speaker 1: in there. Couldn't have to get married one because I
- 32:24Speaker 1: was like, one day, I want to get married and
- 32:26Speaker 1: I don't want to wait to hear live or a
- 32:28Speaker 1: ring or whatever. And I was just like, yo, I
- 32:30Speaker 1: don't want to be I don't want to be out
- 32:32Speaker 1: here like oh now that I'm ready to go. So
- 32:35Speaker 1: you're a single man just budgeting shit out on Google spreadsheets. Crazy.
- 32:39Speaker 1: I don't even know where this came from. Bro. I
- 32:41Speaker 1: just was responsible young man. So by the time I
- 32:44Speaker 1: met the girl. I was ready to get married. I
- 32:45Speaker 1: was like, Oh, I got twenty grand saved so I
- 32:48Speaker 1: can go get this ring or whatever I need to do.
- 32:50Speaker 1: I was just ready to go. You're a fucking special guy. Man. Weird. Yeah,
- 32:54Speaker 1: very strange, but you know it served me well, no,
- 32:57Speaker 1: for sure. Why do you think it is like that
- 32:59Speaker 1: what you're doing and the success you've had somehow flies
- 33:03Speaker 1: under the radar in hip hop because I think of
- 33:06Speaker 1: like people like Russ or even like a guy like
- 33:08Speaker 1: Tech nine who's had a lot of independent success to
- 33:10Speaker 1: like like at one point in time has gotten a
- 33:13Speaker 1: lot of acknowledgment by like the Gaatekeepers, the hip whatever
- 33:17Speaker 1: the fuck right, the cur Raiders or whatever you want
- 33:19Speaker 1: to call them, teastmakers. Somehow you're still kind of flying
- 33:22Speaker 1: under the radar a bit as far as like the
- 33:24Speaker 1: amount of success you've had, the touring you're able to do,
- 33:26Speaker 1: the RIAA certifications you have, right, Like, do you feel
- 33:30Speaker 1: like you're kind of like what do you what do
- 33:32Speaker 1: you attribute to that? Yeah? Well, you know, and my
- 33:35Speaker 1: mentality is like the first thing I'm gonna start with
- 33:37Speaker 1: is it's me right, Like I'm gonna take responsibility because
- 33:40Speaker 1: I don't like the I could blame it on other people.
- 33:43Speaker 1: I want to be like, all right, maybe I just
- 33:44Speaker 1: haven't made the records, you know what I'm saying, or
- 33:46Speaker 1: made the hits. Like so I need to keep my
- 33:49Speaker 1: my my pen sharp, my craft tight, and keep like
- 33:52Speaker 1: my foot on the gas. But I feel like it's
- 33:55Speaker 1: not a matter of skill. It's a matter of like
- 33:58Speaker 1: maybe I just have been unrecognized, you know what I'm saying,
- 34:00Speaker 1: and like my time will either come or I just
- 34:03Speaker 1: have gone on recognized. But it doesn't mean that the
- 34:05Speaker 1: talent isn't well and also doesn't mean you ain't making
- 34:07Speaker 1: a lot of money. Sure, sure, so you know there's that.
- 34:12Speaker 1: But I you know, sometimes I wonder I ask myself
- 34:14Speaker 1: these things. I was like, oh, do you know, is
- 34:16Speaker 1: it a co sign thing? Like do you need just
- 34:18Speaker 1: somebody crazy be like that's the one. Or do you
- 34:21Speaker 1: need just more records? You know? Do you need different infrastructure?
- 34:26Speaker 1: I don't know. Those are all the things that That's
- 34:28Speaker 1: why they call it the game, right like it is
- 34:30Speaker 1: a game. You gotta figure out how to do this.
- 34:33Speaker 1: I think right now, attention is kind of a currency,
- 34:37Speaker 1: and I don't think I'm very good for TV because
- 34:41Speaker 1: you know, I like, I don't start beef with nobody yet.
- 34:44Speaker 1: You know, I don't be out here talking crazy. I'm
- 34:46Speaker 1: just like making good music. But we're trying to figure out,
- 34:50Speaker 1: you know, how to move next, like to make sure
- 34:53Speaker 1: that we get the recognition I think the music deserves.
- 34:55Speaker 1: But I don't know, what do you think? I don't know, man,
- 34:58Speaker 1: I think that. I mean, I do think that the
- 35:02Speaker 1: Christian rapper shit has probably something to do with it,
- 35:04Speaker 1: just that being like that's yeah, that's the things people
- 35:07Speaker 1: lead with. And then they're like, that ain't from me,
- 35:09Speaker 1: like shout out to our good friend Amelia Rojas, Like
- 35:11Speaker 1: when he text me about you, he's like, well he
- 35:13Speaker 1: sent me a voice note. So I hate those people,
- 35:17Speaker 1: by the way, and they like it's going to take
- 35:19Speaker 1: up my whole phone for second loth yo cav yo Yo,
- 35:24Speaker 1: he's a Christian. I'm like, I know who he is. Bro.
- 35:26Speaker 1: That's that DMD you earlier this year. I don't know
- 35:28Speaker 1: if you saw it. Really yeah, I hit you like
- 35:29Speaker 1: when you come into LA. I think I hit you
- 35:31Speaker 1: in like February this year. Check a DMS but who knew?
- 35:35Speaker 1: All right? Okay, but anyway, but no I think that
- 35:39Speaker 1: for whatever reason, like that is like a weird like
- 35:42Speaker 1: like you said, man, anytime you have that like thing
- 35:45Speaker 1: before rapper, yeah right, it's like it's just people already
- 35:49Speaker 1: have their mind made up. Yeah. And for whatever reason,
- 35:53Speaker 1: I also think like, well, if you don't want to
- 35:55Speaker 1: give it a chance, like if someone told me right
- 35:57Speaker 1: now and like this is just an example, like yo,
- 35:59Speaker 1: check out this Muslim rapper, right, I'd be like, oh word,
- 36:03Speaker 1: I'll get to it, you know, Like it wouldn't be
- 36:06Speaker 1: I wouldn't be like jumping on it if somebody like, Yo,
- 36:07Speaker 1: this kid's dope, check them out, because I think, like,
- 36:10Speaker 1: and nothing against Muslims at all. It's just like, oh,
- 36:13Speaker 1: I'm that's not the first thing I'm gonna connect with,
- 36:16Speaker 1: right right, And I think that's kind of the same thing, right,
- 36:17Speaker 1: But there's mad Muslim rappers right over like everybody, so
- 36:21Speaker 1: you like, if you didn't lead with that, maybe it
- 36:24Speaker 1: would have. Yeah. I think that. I think that that's
- 36:26Speaker 1: something because like I also think too, like just the
- 36:28Speaker 1: whole for whatever reason, I don't know, man, you know,
- 36:33Speaker 1: do you feel like being a Christian has become Like
- 36:37Speaker 1: when I grew up, I felt like being religious and
- 36:39Speaker 1: being godly was like in does that make sense? Like
- 36:43Speaker 1: it was, like what made you think that? Maybe because
- 36:45Speaker 1: it's who I grew up around. I grew up around.
- 36:47Speaker 1: You know, my best friend Rams is like his whole
- 36:48Speaker 1: family was like a hardcore Christian. So like maybe like
- 36:51Speaker 1: in my head, like that was like more widely accepted
- 36:54Speaker 1: as to where I feel like today, like being like
- 36:57Speaker 1: super religious people like and I'm saying I feel this way,
- 37:00Speaker 1: but I just mean in general, like I don't think
- 37:02Speaker 1: it's like commercially as accepted as it used to be.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Do you do you feel like that's the case. I
- 37:06Speaker 1: don't know. I almost feel like the opposite. I don't know,
- 37:09Speaker 1: like because when I look at I don't know when
- 37:13Speaker 1: I look at artists right now, like so many of
- 37:15Speaker 1: them are blatantly and openly Christian. So Kanye justin Bieber,
- 37:22Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like you hear, I mean
- 37:23Speaker 1: DMX even growing up was always like doing but he
- 37:26Speaker 1: was saying the prayers right, he was doing. Man, he
- 37:29Speaker 1: was talking about fucking the dead body as well. Yeah, yeah,
- 37:31Speaker 1: I'm the same album. I'm the same album Blood on
- 37:35Speaker 1: his dick because he sucked the course. I'm a nasty,
- 37:38Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So, yeah, I don't know, man,
- 37:41Speaker 1: I feel like it's it's almost it's almost more widely
- 37:44Speaker 1: accepted in my mind through music chants, you know what
- 37:48Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like, all these artists like to be open.
- 37:51Speaker 1: So but in my head, I'm like, Okay, well, Kanye
- 37:53Speaker 1: does Jesus King and it's probably his least successful album ever. Yeah.
- 37:57Speaker 1: By the way, what'd you think of that Jesus King? Yeah?
- 38:00Speaker 1: So when I first heard it, I was like, ah,
- 38:02Speaker 1: it's cool. And then I went and I I played
- 38:05Speaker 1: it and I started talking everybody around breakfast. I was like, yeah,
- 38:08Speaker 1: but this part was dope. The production is an amazing
- 38:11Speaker 1: part was dope. But the opening vocals on this and
- 38:14Speaker 1: then I was like, wait, no, this project's dope. Right. So,
- 38:17Speaker 1: once I started breaking down all the things I liked about,
- 38:19Speaker 1: I was like, you know what, at the end of
- 38:20Speaker 1: the day, I'm just a Kanye stand me too, have
- 38:23Speaker 1: everything he knows, and no matter what, it's always going
- 38:27Speaker 1: to be a little left of center, he's gonna do
- 38:29Speaker 1: something different. He's gonna push the envelopes and do cool production.
- 38:32Speaker 1: And I'm like, I'm a fan, so I'm just here.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Kanye is my favorite artist ever. Now it's my favorite rapper.
- 38:37Speaker 1: But Kanye to me, yeah, that makes sense, best discography ever,
- 38:40Speaker 1: that makes sense. But always always he always whenever direction
- 38:45Speaker 1: you're going, he jerks the wheel and sends you on
- 38:47Speaker 1: a ride. What's your favorite Kanye album, oh Man, Probably
- 38:54Speaker 1: probably Dark Twisted Fantasy. I mean that's the that's the
- 38:57Speaker 1: one's just like, I think that's the best album. I
- 39:00Speaker 1: think my favorite probably Late Registration. But his best album
- 39:02Speaker 1: is Stark Twis the Fantasy. Yeah. I like Graduation a
- 39:05Speaker 1: lot too. You know, I'm not as high on Graduation
- 39:08Speaker 1: as everyone else. And I like the weird, like the
- 39:10Speaker 1: ones off there that people sleep. I like Barry Bonds.
- 39:12Speaker 1: I also like uh, I don't like Breathe. That's his
- 39:17Speaker 1: worst song. But you know what, he don't have many
- 39:22Speaker 1: of those, like Drunken Hot Girls and like RoboCop, the
- 39:24Speaker 1: only like joints in his discography that I'm like, I
- 39:28Speaker 1: could do without those. That's it. Everything else, I'm like,
- 39:31Speaker 1: these are good songs. I agree, even like now there
- 39:34Speaker 1: was something on Ya that I did not like, But
- 39:36Speaker 1: I think ghost Town is one of the best Kanye
- 39:38Speaker 1: songs ever. So decried the ghost Town. Just the fact
- 39:41Speaker 1: that ghost Town's on ye puts it. Hey, Kitsey Ghost
- 39:45Speaker 1: to me might be a top five Kanye project ever. Really,
- 39:47Speaker 1: Kitsy Ghost is so fucking perfect to me. I take
- 39:50Speaker 1: Kitsy Ghost or Wash the Throne every day of the week,
- 39:53Speaker 1: no questions. Sorry, I will take Kittsy Ghosts over Watch
- 39:57Speaker 1: the Throne one thousand percent. You're sick. I'm not a chance, bro,
- 40:02Speaker 1: I'm not doing that. I'm not gonna let that slide
- 40:05Speaker 1: man personally. For me, I just think I think Watching
- 40:09Speaker 1: the Throne had some some low points. I was not
- 40:12Speaker 1: a fan of of of the first record. Was it
- 40:15Speaker 1: lift Off? Oh? With wasn't crazy about that? Bro, We
- 40:19Speaker 1: this ain't live right. I can take a piss, Yeah,
- 40:21Speaker 1: go take a piss, Go take get your piss on, buddy.
- 40:23Speaker 1: All right, we're back like ten minutes, he was saying.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Before that. We know we were just talking about how
- 40:27Speaker 1: Watch the Throne is an inferior album to kids. He ghost,
- 40:30Speaker 1: You're psychotic? Just no church in the wild alone. Oh no,
- 40:34Speaker 1: it's amazing. Yeah. Did you go to the Wash the
- 40:38Speaker 1: Throne Tour? No? I went to What I Do Jesus
- 40:44Speaker 1: Jesus Tour? Is crazy with the Mountain the Mountain. Yeah,
- 40:46Speaker 1: so I did that. I saw Life of Pablo. That's
- 40:50Speaker 1: the only Kanye tour I didn't go to because he
- 40:52Speaker 1: ended up canceling the date I was supposed to go.
- 40:54Speaker 1: I was gonna fly to Denver to see him, but
- 40:56Speaker 1: he had that meltdown and then cancel the rest of
- 40:58Speaker 1: the tour. I was like looking forward to, like standing
- 41:01Speaker 1: under Man. It was, you know, so dope about that
- 41:04Speaker 1: Kanye show was He's He's part of the show. But
- 41:08Speaker 1: then watching everyone else underneath them dancing and going crazy,
- 41:12Speaker 1: that's like part of the show too. So it's an
- 41:14Speaker 1: inception performance because you don't know what to watch. Like
- 41:18Speaker 1: the people watching him is part of it. So, yeah,
- 41:22Speaker 1: you this new video you you sent me the link
- 41:25Speaker 1: for I watched it yesterday. First of all, great idea.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Thanks recreating all the hippo classic hip hop covers. Yeah,
- 41:33Speaker 1: you caught all of them. I caught every single one single.
- 41:35Speaker 1: See a Public Enemy, ren DMC, Capital Punishment, DMX fifty
- 41:39Speaker 1: all Eyes on Me, Kanye, there's some others on this Wayne. Yeah. Cardiff.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Cardiff was a mad villainy. Yeah, that's you know what
- 41:50Speaker 1: I wanted to do. I wanted to set that up
- 41:51Speaker 1: in a way so like you know, you could do
- 41:54Speaker 1: like a you get like the timeframe of when it
- 41:57Speaker 1: pops up to guess what it is and see what
- 41:59Speaker 1: people score. No, it was amazing, Ye I got it.
- 42:01Speaker 1: I was one thousand percent for sure, but incredible video.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Your visuals in general are always very very on point,
- 42:09Speaker 1: Like is that you is that your directors? Yeah, it's
- 42:14Speaker 1: me Dell Dell just Moustafa, He's part of my creative team.
- 42:19Speaker 1: And then I just got a handful of people that
- 42:21Speaker 1: we use, so shout out Dust Brand Films. He did
- 42:23Speaker 1: that video. He's a hip hop head, so he was
- 42:26Speaker 1: like the perfect dude do it. But yeah, you know,
- 42:29Speaker 1: it's like I don't have just like one person I
- 42:32Speaker 1: create all my videos with. It's kind of like, you know,
- 42:35Speaker 1: we pulling it together depending on whose that video's crazy man.
- 42:39Speaker 1: And it was like flawlessly executed, thank you. All those
- 42:42Speaker 1: were done in camera, so there was very little post effects,
- 42:46Speaker 1: so every time it would pan into something, it'd be
- 42:48Speaker 1: a physical set that was built. Wow. So you know,
- 42:52Speaker 1: like even on Mad Villainy, like that's the real mass
- 42:54Speaker 1: and behind you know, there's that little square in the
- 42:56Speaker 1: corner that's red. That was just posit, like a red
- 42:59Speaker 1: piece of square posted up in the back to make
- 43:02Speaker 1: it look like so to pull off the eminem show ship, like,
- 43:08Speaker 1: do you have to find a red curtain somewhere? Yeah,
- 43:10Speaker 1: So we went to like a middle school and they
- 43:12Speaker 1: let us use their auditorium and then there was a
- 43:14Speaker 1: red curtain and we had to use their spotlight and
- 43:17Speaker 1: line everything up and then put little gold leafing across
- 43:20Speaker 1: the bottom of the curtain to make it look like
- 43:23Speaker 1: that cover. So then you know, hour it was like
- 43:26Speaker 1: an hour of just like slide back and then go
- 43:29Speaker 1: to the level, you know, and we were trying to
- 43:31Speaker 1: make them as exact as possible. Uh, your album just
- 43:35Speaker 1: came out. Uh the tours is it's almost over right. Yeah,
- 43:38Speaker 1: we got like four more dates so it's we got
- 43:41Speaker 1: the Fonda tonight, we got uh San Francisco, then we
- 43:45Speaker 1: got Denver. So that's it. That is. I feel like
- 43:48Speaker 1: Denver's everyone's best concert market for some reason. I don't
- 43:51Speaker 1: know what it is about Denver. Denver motherfuckers love to
- 43:54Speaker 1: go to concerts in Denver. I don't know what. There's
- 43:56Speaker 1: people who sell out the Red Rocks that won't do
- 43:58Speaker 1: a thousand tickets in LA, that's right, But they sell
- 44:01Speaker 1: out the fucking Red Rocks. Bro I sell out Denver
- 44:04Speaker 1: every time I play there, just fanatics there. I always
- 44:07Speaker 1: say Denver's like probably the best concert like as far
- 44:10Speaker 1: as like people going to spending money on live shows. Yes,
- 44:13Speaker 1: every artist I've ever talked to the like Yo, Denver, Denver, Denver, Denver.
- 44:17Speaker 1: I think Denver might be the highest sollid show on
- 44:19Speaker 1: this whole tour. Killing Yeah, Denver's a movie shot out Denver.
- 44:24Speaker 1: I can't breathe when I'm there. But are you a smoker? Nah?
- 44:29Speaker 1: No smoking? Now I get anxiety. I like panic attacks
- 44:33Speaker 1: just is bad you've partaken any psychedelics or anything, or
- 44:37Speaker 1: you're just pretty straight at man, you know what it is.
- 44:39Speaker 1: I just like my life, that's fair. I just like
- 44:42Speaker 1: I'm just being sober. Is so dope to me that
- 44:45Speaker 1: I'm like, it's like shit's going great for me. You know,
- 44:47Speaker 1: just things are dope. I don't ever feel the need
- 44:49Speaker 1: to be like, you know what, I really want to
- 44:51Speaker 1: get in coherent right now, like nothing. You know, I
- 44:53Speaker 1: go to therapy too. I'd be dealing with my demons
- 44:58Speaker 1: and I think some of that is me that like, yo,
- 45:01Speaker 1: I just want to drink water and go for a job.
- 45:02Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. I'm no good for TV, bro.
- 45:05Speaker 1: I just be I. You know what I'm saying. I'm like,
- 45:06Speaker 1: I want to I want to work out and eat healthy.
- 45:08Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like what's your dial? Like
- 45:11Speaker 1: it's pretty you know, we try to we out here
- 45:14Speaker 1: trying to live right, trying to live righteous. But you know,
- 45:18Speaker 1: from time to time we do partake in the fried chicken.
- 45:22Speaker 1: What are you gonna do? You got roscos? I mean
- 45:23Speaker 1: you're a Italian, right, so like Italian food is amazing. Yeah,
- 45:27Speaker 1: it's also probably the worst food for you, because it's
- 45:30Speaker 1: just that's the thing that pasta. I'm a foodie. Basically,
- 45:33Speaker 1: the way that I calculate my day is like, all right,
- 45:36Speaker 1: if I go work out, then I can have this
- 45:38Speaker 1: nonsense at night, you know what I'm saying. So I
- 45:41Speaker 1: basically I just be trying to budget. You're just kind
- 45:43Speaker 1: of like, yo, if I can just have a wash
- 45:45Speaker 1: every day, that's it. If I will just break even,
- 45:48Speaker 1: that's it. So you know, we're just trying to eat
- 45:51Speaker 1: wherever there's real good food. And I'm not picky. I'll
- 45:54Speaker 1: try I'll try something, you know what I'm saying, something new.
- 45:57Speaker 1: You ever had rattlesneak? I haven't. I haven't had, but
