- 0:32with Joel. Open your Bibles to Second
- 0:34Chronicles chapter. 16, we're going to begin in verse 1.
- 0:38Then title of our message is the strong support of the Lord.
- 0:43One of the most powerful verses in the Bible that contains some
- 0:48of the most powerful promises in the Bible are found in this
- 0:52chapter and Gillette spray and then just received from his
- 0:57word. Father we do.
- 0:58Thank you for sending your word in Our and we know that you send
- 1:03them forth with your heart to transform us to draw, as to
- 1:08yourself to build a foundation for our lives.
- 1:12From God, we just open our heart to receive trim.
- 1:15You big lorded, glorified and honored as we have this time
- 1:18together in Jesus name, amen. This chapter is really about the
- 1:24question on. Whom do you rely the eyes of the
- 1:28Lord is says, are searching for those.
- 1:31Those whose heart is, is fully his that he might show himself,
- 1:36strong in their behalf. It's one of the great promises
- 1:39because this life is filled with tremendously difficult troubles
- 1:43and we need a foundation, we need to know on whom we can rely
- 1:48on August 19th 2014 and 5:03 p.m. our daughter was killed
- 1:55when she was 29 years old at the time mother to she was Injured
- 2:01by a stranger who just wanted to know what it felt like and it
- 2:06shook us to the very core. I tell you when you go through
- 2:09storms like that, you know, whether you have a foundationist
- 2:13and on or not and I tell you, you know, God promised that he
- 2:18would never leave me and he never has.
- 2:21He promised a walk with me, even to the Valley of the shadow of
- 2:26death. And he has walked with me every
- 2:28step along this troubled past. 'The and I know on whom I can
- 2:33rely in the promises in this chapter is for you to take, hold
- 2:37them as well. God wants you to know that you
- 2:41can rely and not only that but he is looking for those in whom
- 2:46he can show himself strong in their lives.
- 2:49So that brings us to the second chronicles 16.
- 2:53Now the backstory is very, very important, the nation at this
- 2:57point in time is divided ten tribes in the North Doing this
- 3:01out of Judah and Benjamin the king of the time was King ASA.
- 3:06He was great grandson of King Solomon and the first it tells
- 3:10us that he said, well, he did good in right in the sight of
- 3:15the Lord, he commanded you to seek the Lord God of their
- 3:18fathers to observe the commands and laws of God.
- 3:21And the result of that was good. God bless that nation.
- 3:27And by the way, that is a principle right there.
- 3:30That That holds true to this day, whether it be a nation time
- 3:34people or a person when you seek God, when you rely on him and
- 3:40you draw near to him, you are strengthened and increased.
- 3:44But when you fall away from God, when you rely on any other
- 3:48source of strength, you are weakened and decreased it
- 3:52instead of spiritual principle. So the nation of Israel was
- 3:56blessed. He even had an army of like Men
- 4:01bearing Shields and Spears. And now that again, this
- 4:05backstory is very important. At one point, the king of
- 4:09Ethiopia came out with an army of a million men against them.
- 4:16Of course, oh ASA mustard, his army, bringing them out in
- 4:20battle formation, but they're outgunned and they're outmanned.
- 4:25And so ASA, gives this prayer and this prayer is a
- 4:29declaration. And of on whom he must and will
- 4:34rely. Here's his prayer.
- 4:35He says this help us. O Lord Our God for in God we
- 4:41trust and in your name we have come against this great
- 4:44multitude. Oh Lord you are our God.
- 4:48Let not man Prevail against you. This is an amazing prayer.
- 4:53He is he's declaring a boldly that he relies on the Lord.
- 4:56The Lord routed the Ethiopians before they sign Judah and the
- 5:00in He opens, fled the carried away, the great planner and came
- 5:04to Jerusalem now, as they were returning to Jerusalem.
- 5:08The spirit of the Lord Came Upon a prophet who came out to meet
- 5:12them with a word of the lord. It's a good word and it was
- 5:16this, he said, listen to me a sign of Judah and Benjamin.
- 5:20The Lord is with you when you are with him.
- 5:27Listen to me said, the Lord is with you when you are with him
- 5:31and if you seek Him He will let you find him.
- 5:34If you seek Him He will let you find him be strong and do not
- 5:38lose. Courage for there is great
- 5:40reward in this. These words were so encouraging
- 5:45to a said that he gathered all the people of the Judah and
- 5:48Benjamin and rededicated themselves to the Lord to seek
- 5:52after God, with all of their heart.
- 5:55And with all of their Our soul. All of that is back story.
- 5:58That brings us now, to chapter 16, for he will encounter
- 6:01another trouble. It's not nearly so great as what
- 6:05he faced before. But this time, whereas, once he
- 6:09had relied on God, to be help against a vast Army, but when
- 6:14the king of Israel and the north comes against him instead of
- 6:18relying on God, like he had done before instead, he relies on his
- 6:22own clever plan and it is a clever plan.
- 6:26He's going to buy him himself out of this trouble.
- 6:29He makes an alliance with the king of Syria of Aram, just
- 6:33North of Israel, to purchase that help and so as a result,
- 6:38God sent another Prophet Hannah night with a word of the Lord
- 6:44and that word which he brings is one of the greatest verses in
- 6:49the Bible contains a correction, but a promise, and the
- 6:54principles that are found in this This verse are principle,
- 6:57you can build your life on. It's one of the most important
- 7:01verses in the Bible. It's a life verse for me.
- 7:04You might want to write this down in such an important verse
- 7:08don't write it down on on paper and then you're going to need a
- 7:11stone tablet and a chisel. This is such an important
- 7:14principle better. Yet write it on your heart.
- 7:16So let's read it were in second Chronicles chapter, 16 and read
- 7:20with me. As we begin reading in verse 1
- 7:23/. Now in the 36th year basis, rain
- 7:26Mmmmm. But I said, king of Israel, I
- 7:28came up against you that and fortify drama in order to
- 7:32prevent anyone, from going out, or coming in, to ASA, king of
- 7:36Judah. And the other words a blockade,
- 7:38which itself is an act of War. So then, and here's the clever
- 7:42plan that ASA comes up with a nice abroad, ounce, silver and
- 7:47gold from the treasuries of the house of the Lord, and from the
- 7:50King's house. And he sent them to Ben, Hadad
- 7:53king of Aram or king of Syria, who lived in, Has same Damascus
- 7:58as today and he said, let there be a treaty between you and me
- 8:02as we trained my father. And your father behold, I send
- 8:06you a silver and gold. I send you many go break your
- 8:10treaty with Bosch and king of Israel so that he will withdraw
- 8:13from me. So ben-hadad did it.
- 8:17He listened to King ASA and he sent the commanders of his
- 8:20armies against the cities of Israel, May conquer Dion.
- 8:24And Dan enable my aim and all the Our cities of naphtali and
- 8:28it came about that when Bosch or heard of this that he ceased
- 8:32fortifying, Rama and stop that work.
- 8:35And when King ASA, then he brought out all Judah and They
- 8:39Carried Away the stones of Rama and it's Timber with which Basha
- 8:42have been building and with them, he fortified giba and Me
- 8:46Spa. Now at that time, hananiah this
- 8:49year, the prophet came to ASA, king of Judah and said to him
- 8:54this The word of the Lord because you have relied on the
- 8:59king of Aram and have not relied on the Lord, your God.
- 9:04Therefore, the army of the king of Aram has escaped out of your
- 9:08hand when out the Ethiopians and aluminum, and immense army with
- 9:13very many chariots and Horsemen yet.
- 9:16Because you relied on the Lord, he delivered them into your
- 9:20hand. And then the famous verse that
- 9:22I've been speaking of verse 9. Do you not No, he's saying that
- 9:27the eyes of the Lord. Moved to and fro throughout the
- 9:32Earth that he might strongly support.
- 9:35Those whose heart is completely his.
- 9:39You have acted foolishly in this indeed, from now on you, surely
- 9:43will have wars now, a sound was angry with the sear and put him
- 9:48in prison when he heard this for, he was enraged at him and
- 9:52ASA oppressed. Some of the people at the same
- 9:55time, ASA is angry. He's the one who messed this.
- 10:00Hang up, and he's the one who's angry.
- 10:01I know a lot of people like that actually.
- 10:04So, these are the verses that I want us to look at and they're
- 10:07very important filled with promises film and principles for
- 10:11us to take, hold of and apply it to our lives, starting with this
- 10:15that the eyes of the Lord are searching to and fro to how
- 10:20throughout the whole earth. In other words, God is looking
- 10:23for those that he can strongly support, you don't have to
- 10:28convince him. He is looking for those whose
- 10:32heart is completely his. He's looking for those, he's
- 10:36searching for those who will rely on him.
- 10:40When a vast Army of a million comes out against ASA.
- 10:44He's crying out to God, for help why he's outgunned and
- 10:47outmanned? If God doesn't help, there is no
- 10:51help. See, in other words, many are
- 10:54like that. They cry out to God when they're
- 10:57out of options. As if God was the last option to
- 11:01choose, but God does not want to be the last option.
- 11:04That's the point of the story. God wants to be the first and
- 11:09the foremost option. So in Basha king of Israel, in
- 11:13the north comes out against ASA. He thought he could figure this
- 11:16out all on his own. He's going to rely on his own
- 11:21clever plan. I'll tell you, I've been in
- 11:24Ministry for many years and I can't tell you how many times.
- 11:29Times, I've heard someone say, when they've gotten into
- 11:32trouble. Look, I just need to figure this
- 11:34thing out on my own and my response is always the same.
- 11:39No, you won't figure this thing out on your own.
- 11:42It was you figuring things out on your own that got you into
- 11:46this trouble in the first place. You need to rely on God and not
- 11:50as your last option on your first option.
- 11:54Amen. CAC has found was clever.
- 11:57All he needed to do is send money to the king of Aram there
- 12:01to make a treaty an alliance between them.
- 12:03He's gonna buy his way out of the trouble.
- 12:07It's very clever. Here's the The problem.
- 12:10It worked, didn't it work? He sent him money.
- 12:14Break that treaty he did, then the work.
- 12:18But here's the problem, it brings up actually a great
- 12:20principal. And that principle is this one
- 12:24of the worst things that could happen to a person is to do the
- 12:28wrong thing and win. One of the worst things that can
- 12:33happen to a person is to do the wrong thing and when it reminds
- 12:40me of a Time many years ago a fellow came up to me and asked
- 12:44if I would look at this investment opportunity that he
- 12:48was having and he knows I have a background in business.
- 12:52You wanted me to look at. And I said, I would.
- 12:54So I looked at it and I said, no, I don't believe this is a
- 12:58good thing at all. There are principles behind this
- 13:01that are not right. I just, I don't believe that you
- 13:04should do this thing so he's okay.
- 13:06Thank you very much. Appreciate you saying that.
- 13:08And so a few months I ran into him and and I said, hey, follow
- 13:12up what happened? With that thing?
- 13:14You're talking about and he said, well, I did it.
- 13:17You did it. He said, yeah, I did it and it
- 13:20looks like it's going to work. And so, I said spiritual
- 13:25principle one of the worst things that can happen to you.
- 13:28My friend is to do the wrong thing and when it was still the
- 13:33wrong thing. Few months later.
- 13:37I ran into him again and I said, follow up whatever happened to
- 13:40that deal and he said it all fell apart.
- 13:45It was an unmitigated disaster. I lost it all.
- 13:49I'll tell you what I know. God's word always stands true.
- 13:53Amen. See what ASA?
- 13:54Discovered was that his own clever plan was far less than
- 14:00God's plan. God intended to give the army of
- 14:05the king of Aram to him as well. And now ASA is making a treaty
- 14:09with the very one that God wanted him to defeat.
- 14:12In other words, our clever plans are often so far less than what
- 14:18God desires to do in your life. Reminds me of that verse that
- 14:24Paul spoke to the church at Ephesus.
- 14:26Now I'm to him who is able to do far more exceedingly beyond all
- 14:31that. We ask or Even think God wants
- 14:34to do far more than our plans, far more than our clever plans.
- 14:40When I think about that, I think about a time in my own life.
- 14:46When I first came to the Lord, I was very young and I was so very
- 14:51excited, right? When God got a hold of my life.
- 14:54I felt that I was called to be a pastor but I can in dismissed it
- 14:59because I thought to myself, well, everybody thinks It's that
- 15:03you know when someone first comes to the lord, they're so
- 15:05excited. They're so full of zeal, of
- 15:08course everybody thinks that so I kind of dismissed it but it
- 15:10was always there. And many years later I had I was
- 15:17part of this business, but I had an opportunity to be like a
- 15:20youth leader and then that grew and then since I had an
- 15:23opportunity to be like the youth leader, and then a door open for
- 15:28me to be able to go to Ministry, but I needed to go to Bible
- 15:32College, which I could not afford.
- 15:35And I thought how am I going to paint?
- 15:37I want to get a, you know, good solid Bible education but I
- 15:40couldn't afford it private. Cool and all.
- 15:43And so I came up with my plan. It was a clever plan and the
- 15:47plan was this, as I mentioned, I was part owner of a business and
- 15:51we were making this deal and I thought, oh, when we make this
- 15:54deal, my part will be worth, you know, so much more where I'll
- 15:58sell that and take the prophets and they my way through school.
- 16:01God, I have it all figured out and I only need you to do is
- 16:05bless my plan which as you can imagine he didn't.
- 16:09What happened was this? I remember this.
- 16:11So very well. It was a Friday night.
- 16:13My partner was the one doing the negotiating for this deal and it
- 16:17was a Friday night. I was actually at a conference
- 16:20and he was coming there to, and, and he showed up a little late
- 16:24and he drew me aside. This was at 6:30, I remember
- 16:28this so well, he drew me aside and he said, I have to tell you,
- 16:31I killed the deal today. Thank you.
- 16:34You did why he said because I don't think these people have
- 16:37integrity and I don't want to be in business with people who lack
- 16:42integrity. A booty.
- 16:43So I killed the deal and I didn't call you, because I knew
- 16:46as a Christian, you would understand And so I said, well
- 16:51yes of course I understand and then I turn to the Lord like
- 16:57what. Now I felt like I just got
- 17:00punched in the stomach. Why do I do?
- 17:03I can't, I can't afford this. I can't borrow this money as a
- 17:07pastor. I would never pay back.
- 17:09What do I do? And so I started that was my
- 17:12prayer. I started praying that was
- 17:14Friday night or heard this news. It was an all-day prayer.
- 17:18God, I need a miracle. I need, I need you.
- 17:22I need a miracle. And so, then I know that it's a
- 17:26miracle. Anyone I ever tell this story to
- 17:28knows it's a miracle. I'm not going to tell me anyone.
- 17:31I need this money. And then I went to bed Saturday
- 17:36at peace. Just Lord, I laid at your hands.
- 17:40If you want me, if you've called me, I trust you.
- 17:43I'm at peace because I was Friday night all day, Saturday,
- 17:46Sunday morning. I come to church.
- 17:48I'm so excited to worship. I'm about 10 steps in the door
- 17:52and the fella sends in front of me like this and said stop.
- 17:56I got to tell you something, God has put it on my heart this week
- 18:00that I'm supposed to pay your way through Bible College.
- 18:04I thought God your way is way better than mine.
- 18:08And he meant every word of it. Well, Robin thing forward a few
- 18:14years now, I'm going to Bible College and there was a speaker
- 18:19at Chapel who was a captain of a mercy ship and talking about all
- 18:25that they do going from port to port acts of Mercy.
- 18:28You know, a medical ship and I got so excited that I thought I
- 18:34want to be a missionary on that machine ship, right?
- 18:37So I met with the captain and I gave him my heart, I lose I
- 18:41always had this romantic. Idea of the ocean you know?
- 18:45And and I said I can be the Bible teacher, you know on the
- 18:48ship and teach the staff and everyone who comes on and and I
- 18:52gave him my story and talked all about my heart and everything he
- 18:56heard all of that and then he says no, we don't want you to
- 19:00join us. And I thought why we're talking
- 19:03about me here How could you say no and he said no no and here's
- 19:11why because I don't think you called to be a missionary you
- 19:14called to be a pastor and he says you know what I believe God
- 19:20is going to use you as a pastor to do far more for Missions.
- 19:26Then you could ever do for Missions as a missionary.
- 19:30Well, he was so right. Well, first of all.
- 19:35This would have ended very poorly because I get seasick.
- 19:38Just looking at the ocean, it would have been an unmitigated
- 19:41disaster. God knows exactly what he was
- 19:44doing and he still right now, today we have been able to
- 19:48impact missions all over the world.
- 19:50There are like 30 churches just in the Congo that we are
- 19:53overseeing and raising up or teaching the word of God.
- 19:57We planted churches all over the world.
- 19:58We sent medical supplies in by the container to Russia and God
- 20:04is using Us in tremendous ways. Oh God is always proven, right?
- 20:08Amen. Let's give the Lord Praise
- 20:13Reminds me of that verse in Jeremiah 29:11.
- 20:16I know the plans that I have for you declares the Lord plans for
- 20:20welfare, which means could and never Calamity to give you a
- 20:24future to give you a hope. But I want to see this out of
- 20:29this chapter that God is teaching.
- 20:31God is searching. But God is searching for those
- 20:35who seek him. He's he's speaking of the
- 20:40seeking heart for there is in the human soul, a great longing,
- 20:46and great searching, because there's something missing and so
- 20:50many people, they people are looking for love, they're
- 20:54looking for significance or looking for meaning of life.
- 20:57They're looking for fulfillment, but there's the problem is that
- 21:01they're looking in all the wrong places.
- 21:04For, there's nothing out there in the world.
- 21:07That was satisfied. The desire for significance, for
- 21:10meaning of life, for the Fulfillment of the Soul's
- 21:14desire, the world appeals to the flesh.
- 21:18God satisfies, the soul, God, put that searching, God put that
- 21:24seeking heart in the human soul so that it might find its
- 21:29greatest desire to be satisfied in him.
- 21:33Second chronicles, I referred to it earlier second chronicles 15
- 21:37verse to the spirit of the of God Came Upon the Azariah and he
- 21:41came out to me neysa and said to him, listen to me, a saint Judah
- 21:45and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you
- 21:48are with him, but notice if you seek Him He will net, you find
- 21:53him. It actually is a theme that runs
- 21:57through the Bible. You could do.
- 21:58I study on that theme that God wants you to sink.
- 22:03Him. Now we know that God seeks,
- 22:04Sinners God sent his son to seek and to save that which was lost.
- 22:08But there's an aspect of the human soul where he says I want
- 22:12you to sink For, when you find him, you will find Joy.
- 22:18When you find him, you will find peace.
- 22:22When you find him, you will find that which God wants to do in
- 22:27your life is beautiful. He wants to give you a beautiful
- 22:33soul that will bring forth a beautiful life.
- 22:37I did not say any Z life. I did not say any xia life.
- 22:42I have walked through many many troubles but I know that God has
- 22:46walked with me through them all and his presence in my life
- 22:52changes everything. When God's presence is in your
- 22:58life, is it not beautiful? Think of me, think of the fruit
- 23:02of the spirit that he report, refers to, in Galatians chapter
- 23:075, the result of the holy spirit in your life, the fruit of the
- 23:11spirit is love, is love my beautiful and the soul.
- 23:16Joy, my joy, not like the world get my joy.
- 23:21The joy of the Lord is that not beautiful.
- 23:23On the soul. Peace.
- 23:25A peace that passes understanding that guards, the
- 23:30heart and mind is that not beautiful on the soul.
- 23:36And kindness and goodness, and gentleness and faithfulness.
- 23:43For when God does that, which is beautiful in your life, you find
- 23:49your pleasure in God and God finds pleasure in you.
- 23:54That is actually. Another thing I tell you could
- 23:56look to the Bible you will see that's a theme that runs through
- 23:59the Bible as well notice. For example, what David wrote?
- 24:02This is First Chronicles chapter 28 verse 4.
- 24:07David said God took pleasure in me to make me King over all
- 24:12Israel. there is a relationship between David and the Lord that
- 24:17was So near so beautiful. David was a worshipper and there
- 24:24was something beautiful there. He honored God, he worshipped
- 24:28God. And he said, God took pleasure
- 24:31in me and to make me King. You know what?
- 24:34I think about that. I'm reminded of erect, little,
- 24:38many of you have, heard his story saw the movie Chariots of
- 24:41Fire. The movie is based on his life.
- 24:44Of course, he was an Olympic runner, but he was also a strong
- 24:48Christian who felt called to be a missionary, and he did become
- 24:51a missionary, but he was telling someone about this at one point
- 24:56and they said, well, if you're called to be a missionary, then
- 24:58why do you run? And he said I run because God
- 25:03made me fast. and when I run, I feel his pleasure and love that
- 25:13answer. I run because God made me fast.
- 25:17And when I run, I feel his pleasure.
- 25:21There's Something Beautiful about that, and I'll add in my
- 25:25own life. God.
- 25:28Called me and made me a pastor and when I teach his word, I
- 25:33feel his pleasure. There's something beautiful that
- 25:37God wants to do in our lives. Sanguine Corinthians, chapter 5
- 25:43verses 7 to 9 speaks to it. Paul says we walk by faith and
- 25:47not by sight therefore we have as our ambition.
- 25:53The desire of Our Lives. That's what ambition isn't?
- 25:57We have is our ambition to be pleasing to him.
- 26:03Hebrews chapter 11 without faith.
- 26:06It is impossible to please him. But with faith, God is, well
- 26:12pleased. The heart that is completely
- 26:18his. The eyes of the Lord are
- 26:19searching to show himself strong, the strongly support
- 26:23people with a heart like that. The heart that is completely his
- 26:30is the heart that keeps seeking. If you seek Him, He will let you
- 26:36find him but keep seeking longing for more more of God in
- 26:42your life. When I think about that, I think
- 26:43about Moses. If you remember there was a
- 26:46point in time where he was interesting in behalf of Israel
- 26:50and while he was asking, he decided to ask for something for
- 26:55himself, something personal while I'm asking, could I just
- 27:00ask one more thing something for me?
- 27:05What would you? ask God, if you get ask one
- 27:10thing, if you, if you said just one thing, if I could just ask
- 27:16one thing for me, what would you ask?
- 27:20You know what Moses asked? He's interceding, he's asking,
- 27:25you know, he's pleading with God and behalf of Israel and then he
- 27:28says, while I'm asking something more just for me.
- 27:37Show Me Your Glory. Show Me Your Glory.
- 27:43Why did he want that? Moses had seen more of God's
- 27:48glory than any human alive. And yet, he wants more.
- 27:54Why? Would you not agree with me that
- 27:57Moses? Some more of the glory of God
- 28:00than any person alive. I mean, he was on the mountain
- 28:04there, in the presence of the Lord, those 40 days.
- 28:07And he was so near to the glory of God, that there was actually
- 28:11a visible physical Radiance of Glory on his face, when he came
- 28:15down from the mountain, he saw more of God's glory than any
- 28:19living person. Why did he want more?
- 28:23Because he knew, Glory of God Is Beautiful on the soul.
- 28:30I want more. Show me more.
- 28:34I know there's more. And God is looking to show
- 28:40himself strong to strongly support people with a heart like
- 28:45that. You know, the word says in my
- 28:49version and says he's looking for those whose heart is
- 28:53completely his now, that is the English word, the Hebrew word is
- 29:00a word, you all know. We all know it very well, it's
- 29:03the word, shalom, shalom them, which means peace, I submit that
- 29:09the word shalom in Hebrew is one of the deepest Hebrew words in
- 29:14their language. There's is far far deeper than
- 29:17just a simple piece. It means, peaceably made whole
- 29:26Is speaking of the joy and the peace that is found in The
- 29:31Nearness of God. That's beautiful.
- 29:38That's who God is looking for God, will show himself strong on
- 29:42behalf of those who are peaceably.
- 29:46Made whole But I submit that people are not born with a
- 29:52heart. Like that people are not born
- 29:54with a beautiful soul. But the good news is that Hearts
- 29:58can be changed. But first we must recognize that
- 30:02people are not born with a heart.
- 30:04Like that people are born with the heart.
- 30:06Like this, this is Jeremiah 17 verses 9 to 10.
- 30:10Jeremiah, is this rhyming? The condition, a man, listen to
- 30:15this. Jeremiah 17:9 the heart is more
- 30:19deceitful than all else and is desperately sick.
- 30:25Who can understand this? I the Lord search the heart,
- 30:29test the mine and give to each man.
- 30:31According to his ways, what a description of the condition a
- 30:35man, right there. The heart is more deceitful than
- 30:38Above All Else and is desperately sick.
- 30:41Okay. That's the biblical perspective
- 30:43on the condition in which man was born.
- 30:45I want to give you a quote, that actually comes from a circular
- 30:49Source but it says the a very similar thing, this actually
- 30:53comes from a report. Dated by the state of Minnesota.
- 30:59When I read this, I thought, oh, I gotta write this down because
- 31:02this is so consistent with the perspective of Jeremiah And so
- 31:09what happened was this the state of Minnesota when in to
- 31:13understand the nature of criminals.
- 31:16They wanted to understand why you do people become criminals
- 31:20and so they put together what they call the crime commission.
- 31:23So I want to just quote to you some of it not the whole but
- 31:27some of it and it goes like this again Minnesota and crime
- 31:32commission. Here we go.
- 31:34Every baby starts Life as a little Savage.
- 31:37How's that The beginning of the quotes, every baby starts Life
- 31:43as a little Savage. He is completely selfish and
- 31:47self-centered, he wants what he wants when he wants it.
- 31:51His bottle his mother's attention, his Playmates Joy
- 31:54deny him. These wants and he seeds with
- 31:58rage and aggressiveness which would be murderous.
- 32:02Were he not so helpless? He is dirty, he has no morals,
- 32:08no knowledge and no skills. This means that all children,
- 32:15not just certain children are born delinquent, and if
- 32:20permitted to continue in the self-centered world of his
- 32:23infancy, given free rein to those impulsive actions to
- 32:27satisfy his wants, every child would grow up to be a criminal,
- 32:32a FIFA killer, and a rapist. Is that not an amazing quote.
- 32:37That's consistent very much with what Jeremiah was saying, here's
- 32:40some good news. By the way, the good news is
- 32:43that Hearts can be changed. The good news is that God put
- 32:46your children in your home, to be with you that you might raise
- 32:50your children up in the fear and the admonition of the Lord that
- 32:54they would grow up to be men and women that are going to be
- 32:57giving glory to God with their lives transformed by him.
- 33:01Amen. Let's give the Lord praise for
- 33:02that. See if that is the condition in
- 33:06which man is born and God wants to do that, which is beautiful.
- 33:10On the soul, something must change.
- 33:14Something must happen in a person's life.
- 33:17The good news is Hearts can be changed.
- 33:20Eyes can be opened Hearts. Can be softened hard Hearts.
- 33:24Can be broken, Stones can be moved and thorns and thistles
- 33:28can be uploaded how? Because something new happens.
- 33:34Yes. God, opens eyes.
- 33:36So that you see what you did not see before he opens ears to the
- 33:40you hear, when you did not hear before.
- 33:45Then you understand what you did not understand before.
- 33:50And that you desire something far greater than you ever
- 33:55desired before. It reminds me of what Paul wrote
- 33:59in second Corinthians 5:17. Therefore if anyone is in
- 34:05Christ, he is a new creation old things passed away.
- 34:11Behold new things have come these things, these new things
- 34:18These things are from God who reconciled us to himself through
- 34:23Christ. Because you have been reconciled
- 34:27to God through Christ. He is doing that, which is new
- 34:31in your life. These new things These new
- 34:35things. Are beautiful.
- 34:39God is looking for people who desire that that he might
- 34:44strongly support that he might show himself strong, in their
- 34:47behalf. But would you notice this out of
- 34:50the story, strength of Faith, brings strength of Life,
- 34:57strength of Faith, brings strength of life.
- 35:01God will strengthen you for the battle, he will strengthen you
- 35:05for the trouble, he will strengthen you for the difficult
- 35:08thing. To God showing himself strong
- 35:12in. Your behalf is one of the
- 35:13greatest promises known to man, The Many have misunderstood.
- 35:19Some expect that when they call out there.
- 35:20God that he will move to rescue and save and that it will be
- 35:24done immediately at the word of his command.
- 35:26Now, yes, I have seen God. Move quickly to rescue and to
- 35:32save and deliver. I can give you story after Story
- 35:36of God's amazing, Deliverance how he rescued and saved.
- 35:42But I also have seen God walk with me through that trouble on
- 35:50a long journey. On a long journey.
- 35:54He walks with me to bring me out of it.
- 35:57For there is much to learn when the journey is long, when the
- 36:01journey is long, God is using it to strengthen you strength of
- 36:06Faith brings strength of life that you would be strengthened
- 36:11for the trouble. They you would be strengthened
- 36:13in the midst of it. That you would be strengthened
- 36:14for the Battle of it. It's like this.
- 36:16And Isaiah 41:10 do not fear nor be afraid.
- 36:24Why not? Because I am with you.
- 36:28Do not anxiously. Look about you anxiously
- 36:32anxiety. Fear worry.
- 36:35Don't look about you with anxiety.
- 36:39Why not? Because I am your God.
- 36:43I will strengthen you surely. I will help you.
- 36:46Surely, I will uphold you with my righteous right, hand.
- 36:50Does that not say the same? God is looking for those who
- 36:54have a heart like that, then he might strongly support them.
- 36:58God is your help in time of trouble, and he will show
- 37:01himself strong in your behalf. But he will strengthen you to be
- 37:05in the midst of it, he will strengthen you to be in the
- 37:08midst of that trouble, he will rescue and save.
- 37:11He will be your help. So that he will be your strength
- 37:15in it. It's like David, if David,
- 37:17Andrew, if anyone understood this, it would be David.
- 37:21David understood, the Practical outworking of faith in the
- 37:25living out of that faith, in the midst of the Troubles of life.
- 37:29God David, wrote your help. God makes me great.
- 37:33He said this, in second Samuel, 22 verse 30.
- 37:37He is relating. This very principle.
- 37:38He says, by you. I can run upon a troop by my
- 37:42God, I can leap over a wall. In other words, David is the one
- 37:47out there in the midst of the fight.
- 37:50David is out there in the midst of the trouble.
- 37:53And he says, by my God, I can run upon the truth.
- 37:57David is the one out there running upon the troop.
- 38:00Oh my God, I can leap over a wall in the midst of the battle.
- 38:08Like this. Psalm 27 verse 3, though, a host
- 38:11encamp against me. Yeah, host is a large number.
- 38:16No, a host encamp against me. My heart will not fear, though.
- 38:22War arise against me in spite of this.
- 38:26I shall be confident. They've been understood the
- 38:30Practical living out of faith in spite of a war arising.
- 38:37I will be confident, you know, you can look at David and say,
- 38:40if anyone was self-confident, it must be David.
- 38:44I submit to you. That David was not self,
- 38:46confident. I submit further that God does
- 38:49not want you to be self-confident either.
- 38:53He said, he doesn't want me to be self-confident.
- 38:54What does he want me to be? He wants you to be confident in
- 38:59him. God confidence is a whole nother
- 39:02thing. All together.
- 39:04Amen, let's give the Lord Praise. see when David was a
- 39:11young lad and his father, sent him to check on his older
- 39:14brothers, who were in the army of Israel when he arrived in the
- 39:19camp he heard the taunts of that Philistine, Giant Goliath, and
- 39:25he became incensed Why is it will?
- 39:29No one rise up? Is there?
- 39:31No one. Who can fight him and he's
- 39:33insensitive this lot. Someone rise up.
- 39:36Well, no one rise up. That would you notice what?
- 39:40David did not say David did not say.
- 39:43Well, God fights my battles. I will be back there watching
- 39:47the Sheep. That's not what David says.
- 39:52Well, no wonder rise to fight him.
- 39:55See, David understood strength of faith means, strength of
- 39:58life. David understood strength of
- 40:04faith means strength of life. I will find him.
- 40:08Get me out there in the battle if no one will arise.
- 40:11I will arise give me out there. And when he when he stood
- 40:15against that giant that speech that he gave that day late at
- 40:20all bear, We saw David's faith. When he gave that great speech
- 40:28first. Samuel chapter 17 verse 46.
- 40:30He's answering, of course, the taunts of that Philistine Giant
- 40:35and he answers When it with one of the great speeches in human
- 40:41history, one of the great speeches, declaring what faith
- 40:44really is. This is just part of it.
- 40:48This day. The Lord will deliver you into
- 40:51my hand and I will strike you down.
- 40:55So that all the Earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
- 41:02And so that all this assembly may know and you can almost
- 41:04imagine him looking at the army of Israel behind him.
- 41:07You must know this too. Now, the Lord does not delivered
- 41:12by sword or by spear. The battle is the Lord's and he
- 41:17will do it, he will give you into our hands.
- 41:22The eyes of the Lord are searching. to, and from
- 41:28Throughout the whole Earth. He's looking for people with the
- 41:32heart like that with faith like that.
- 41:37That he might show himself strong that he might strongly
- 41:40support them. Church.
- 41:45The eyes of the Lord are searching today.
- 41:49Would you say to the Lord? I Want A Heart Like That.
- 41:54I want more, I want more of God in my life.
- 41:57I want to Soul that. You make beautiful because of
- 42:00your glory, and your presence. In my life, I want your strong
- 42:04support. I need you, I want a
- 42:07relationship with God like that. Let's pray, father.
- 42:11Thank you so much. For you revealed to us.
- 42:17Such great promises As this, let the eyes of the Lord are
- 42:24searching. To, and fro.
- 42:30Looking for people whose Hearts is like that who find their
- 42:33pleasure in God, God finds pleasure in them.
- 42:38Desiring. That God would do that, which is
- 42:40beautiful in the soul. That they would arise in their
- 42:45faith, relying on God, to strengthen them in the midst of
- 42:49the Troubles of this world. God is searching church.
- 42:54God is searching today. To show himself strong looking
- 43:00for people with hearts like that, how many would say today?
- 43:06To the Lord. I want that.
- 43:09I want a relationship to God like that.
- 43:12I want more. I want more of God in my life.
- 43:15Lord you do that. Which is beautiful in my soul.
- 43:21I want my soul to find his pleasure in God and God to find
- 43:25pleasure in me. I want a relationship to God
- 43:29like that. Churches, that you got the eyes
- 43:35of the Lord are searching. Even now, would you say to the
- 43:40Lord? I want a relationship to God.
- 43:42Like that. Would you say I'm going to ask
- 43:44that? You would just raise your hand?
- 43:45It's a way of prayer. It's a way of just asking, God,
- 43:47would you just raise your hands to the Lord?
- 43:49And ask I want our relationship to God like that.
- 43:51You can raise both hands of the Lord of you want.
- 43:54It's a way of the asking. God, I want a relationship to
- 43:58you like that. You can do that, which is
- 44:00beautiful on my soul. I want more of you in my life.
- 44:04I want more of your glory, more of your presence.
- 44:08I trust you. I rely on you.
- 44:11I'll build my foundation on this rock.
- 44:15Lord, we love you and honor you for it.
- 44:17In Jesus, powerful name. And everyone said can we give
- 44:20the Lord praise and glory and honor?
- 44:22Amen, we pray that you've been encouraged by this Bible.
