- 2:23Plus the whole town is talking about this episode of the ABC television show
- 2:27What Would You Do? One episode aired Sunday night, filmed at Black Sheet
- 2:30Burrito in Charleston, And when I was doing the show yesterday, I had
- 2:35not seen the segment, because to be honest with you, I really don't
- 2:38watch a whole lot of television shows, particularly reality based shows. Pretty much.
- 2:42If it's not sports or some kind of documentary, I don't see it.
- 2:45But I had never even watched the show. But I did go and
- 2:47watch the clip yesterday, and if I have time a little bit later on
- 2:51the show, I'm going to talk about that as well. Pleasure calls and

- 3:05Good morning, sir, Good morning Dave. How are you doing. I'm
- 3:07doing fin Did you happen to see the TV show the other night? I'm
- 3:09just like you. I don't watch TV. You got a don't You have
- 3:14a young and very a young kid. Now, I've seen a lot of
- 3:16Frozen, I've seen a lot of Cocoa Ellen. Those are my hits currently.
- 3:23Well, thank goodness you have a kid, so you have an excuse
- 3:24to h I mean, because if you didn't, that'd be really weird to
- 3:27tell me that you were watching those shows. Well, maybe I kind of
- 3:29enjoy him. Now, Oh, you are a little bit younger than I.
- 3:31We were talking about that a little bit earlier in the show. You're
- 3:37a relatively young guy, youngest Knawan County Commissioner ever. Is that right?
- 3:40Yeah, That's what I've been told. I mean, you got to be
- 3:42one of the youngest ones I would think in the history of the state.
- 3:44I mean, I would think there's a couple out there, good friends of
- 3:46mine, his estate who's recently been elected. I've one down in uh,
- 3:50you probably know this gum down to Nicholas County. Garrett Coles, a really
- 3:53good fred Line. He's a young guy, good friend of mine as well.
- 3:55He's a great guy, great commissioner. He probably beats me on that
- 3:59reck, but I'll take it here in Karnall County. Right, all right,
- 4:02So we got a lot to talk about. I guess one of the
- 4:05big stories is, and I mentioned it on the show yesterday, a commissioner,
- 4:10the Public Service District or Commission, i should say, has now granted
- 4:14West Virginia American Water's request for an increase to water and sewer bills. Now,
- 4:17the company had asked for a much bigger rate hike than it received.
- 4:21You issued you, you're the County commission issued a statement yesterday. Obviously you're
- 4:27not very happy with the rate increase, but it could have been a lot
- 4:29worse. It can always be worse. But you know, let's back up
- 4:32a little bit. Because when we first got alerted that there was going to
- 4:35be an increase submitted to the PSC from the Western your America Water, the
- 4:40first thing that I said to my staff was there they go again. It
- 4:44seems like every month there's a utility company in the recent past couple of years
- 4:48who have always came out and you're asking for more money, asking for more
- 4:51money. So historically, the Kanaw County Commission, with the Commissioner, Slango
- 4:56Karper and myself, we've always fouled in opposition to these rate heights, and
- 5:00we did so on this one. You know, the big problem with this
- 5:04is that it's getting to the point to where where is this end? You
- 5:08know, that was a question I brought up, When does this end?
- 5:11Because it seems like every six months one of these utility companies will get approval
- 5:15for an increase. They'll come back to the PSA saying we need more,
- 5:17we need more. There needs to be a plan for this because we have
- 5:20to budget as individuals, we have to budget what we're going to be spending
- 5:25for whether it's buying a new car, buying a new house. And you
- 5:28know, five dollars a month doesn't seem like a lot, but when you
- 5:30start adding in the Mountaineer gas, you start adding in the electric company,
- 5:35the water company, I mean, this is really starting to add up,
- 5:38so we opposed it. And unfortunately, I don't know why the Cannau County
- 5:43Commission was the only political entity to oppose this hike. We're proud of the
- 5:47especially that was in your press release. So but you said you don't know
- 5:51why. But I'm gonna ask you why. That's a great question, and
- 5:55I think that maybe it's because, you know, the Canall County Commission.
- 5:58We're elected officials the Public Service Commission. And let's make sure that we're clear.
- 6:01The Public Service Commission and the Cannaal County Commission are two separate entities.
- 6:05We have no power under state code regarding utility increases. So this is the
- 6:10PSC, which is appointed positions. You know, we are elected officials,
- 6:14so we have the duty to represent the citizens of Kennall County. You have
- 6:18somebody to answer to, absolutely, and that's when one of the knocks on
- 6:21entities like the Public Service Commission is that they really don't answer to anything,
- 6:26you know, And that's been a question if there needs to be the legilator
- 6:28needs to act onness and look at see if PSCs need to be elected.
- 6:31Obviously that's going to become an entire issue of itself. So you know,
- 6:35maybe it's good, maybe it's not. But you know, the bural concern
- 6:39here is that the Cannaal County Commission, with Commissioner of car purs Lango myself,
- 6:43we have always opposed every hike. Now we understand that with inflation in
- 6:46the last three years, prices are going up, the cost of business is
- 6:50going up, and there needs to be some type of increase for these utility
- 6:54companies so they can continue to upgrade because we are currently in a situation of
- 6:58the past twenty years that the infrastructure is falling apart, so they need this
- 7:01money now to catch up. I understand that, but what we need to
- 7:04also make sure that we're doing is we have a plan in place. What
- 7:09money does it take to get to that point. When they submitted this a
- 7:12proposal, they wanted to increase it twenty two point five percent, and as
- 7:16you mentioned earlier, they only got eight percent in this proposal. But that's
- 7:20a good thing. You know. We fought and we're going to continue to
- 7:24fight every single time. But until we actually get an answer as to where
- 7:28this money is going and why it's needed and when this increases will stop,
- 7:31we're going to continue to oppose it. Every time, because it's just not
- 7:34right for the people of Kennall County, the people of the state of West
- 7:39Virginia to be told it's going to be five dollars this time, but maybe
- 7:43six months from now we might come back and we might actually be increasing your
- 7:46bills even more. We need to have a plan before we can move forward.
- 7:49It ends up being a little over I think five dollars in something for
- 7:53the average customer a water and sewer, so that would be that's the average.
- 7:56And I will say that one of the good things of this is that
- 7:58they did look at the low income bracket for assistance and they've increased that based
- 8:03off of the new inflation numbers that we currently see with poverty lines, So
- 8:07that was increased. So somebody who you know, your little old grandma who
- 8:11is going to fixed income with Social Security and she's falls between that parameters,
- 8:16she's going to be able to get a little discount. But you know,
- 8:18I think it just comes back to we're very supportive West from America Water.
- 8:24They put a lot of investments and they're trying to catch up with their infrastructure,
- 8:26and we support that. We have six water projects in the last three
- 8:30years. The Knall County commission have moved forward to get people potent public water,
- 8:35and we're appreciative of westban America Water coming to us and working with us
- 8:39and getting these projects ahead. I think we looked at it. They've already
- 8:41put three million dollars in these water projects. But at the end of the
- 8:45day, we need to make sure that we're not passing this buck on to
- 8:48the customers and that they have the answers as to why their rates are going
- 8:52up and seeing the infrastructure actually being built. I think that's really what we
- 8:56need to get to. Talking to Gannagh County Commissioner Lance, they didn't waste
- 9:00a whole lot of time kicking it in, because it kicked in. I
- 9:01think like over the weekend, right, is that what they say it was
- 9:03immediate. It's like now you're gonna start paying five to six dollars more a
- 9:07month. Today ioland showing five any live is Bright to you part by General
- 9:11Hardware and Lumber of Windfield. Come check out the new contractors showroom, lumberyard
- 9:15and more. They deliver service and quality right to your door. Don't buy
- 9:18it to you get a quote from General Hardware and Lumber of Windfield. All
- 9:22right, so you and I were talking just before the show. Some more
- 9:26dollars are going to be coming in to get rid of some junkie buildings in
- 9:30the area. And let's talk about some good news for once. Okay,
- 9:33go ahead. You always have to come on here to talk about the bad
- 9:35things. Rate increases, things like that. Let's talk about some good Let's
- 9:37talk about some good news. Yeah, we're very excited. As you know,
- 9:41our Knall County demolition program really ramped up when I got elected. It
- 9:45was something I focused a lot of attention to. This was a project that
- 9:48was started by Commissioner Karper years ago. When I got elected. It was
- 9:52during covid era and they had stopped the demolitions. Well, we had had
- 9:56the shots at the vaccines at that point, and I said, listen,
- 9:58there's no reason we can't get this started back. And so I took an
- 10:01effort into it because I was tired of seeing dilapidated structures in communities. And
- 10:07I know my constituents agreed with that. Well, we're excited because the Western
- 10:11Legislator when it comes to Governor Jim Justice, Speaker Hanshaw, and Senate President
- 10:16Blair, they also agree, and they have allocated money state money to go
- 10:20to the counties and cities to help them with these programs. We applied it
- 10:24for a program with the Department Environmental Protection and we were granted one point five
- 10:28million dollars for this year to go to the demolition of diapotated structures. This
- 10:35is an incredible amount of money, and you know, we're just proud to
- 10:37have this money and be able to help clean up our community. I think
- 10:41we're all tired of seeing nice neighborhoods and then you see that one or two
- 10:45homes that they've been abandoned. You know a lot of times we see,
- 10:48you know, grandma and grandparents passing away, and then the family is living
- 10:52in California or New York and they're inherited this property. Sometimes I don't even
- 10:56know that they have it. They don't even know that they have it,
- 10:58and it just dilapidates and it becomes a fire issue, it becomes a blight
- 11:05issue, and you know, I think it's our job as the County Commission
- 11:07to help clean up these communities. And that's what we're going to do with
- 11:11this money. I think it's going to go a long way. I hope
- 11:13to have two hundred and fifty structures demolished just with this one point five million
- 11:18dollars. What kind of timetable are we looking at. Well, the grant
- 11:22is for one year. But when we actually got notified a little earlier that
- 11:26this money was going to come our way, we couldn't announce it yet,
- 11:28and so we immediately got to action. We've started already having our enforcement code
- 11:33officers go out into the fields of getting these referrals. And I'll tell you,
- 11:37Kennell County is a big county, and we only have so many employees
- 11:41that we can afford to pay with taxpayer money to go around looking for these
- 11:45homes. I encourage all the viewers and the listeners here that if you know
- 11:50of any structures that you believe that need to be demolished because they're uninhabitable.
- 11:54Nobody lives there. And let's be clear, we're not kicking little old grandmall
- 11:58out of her home because we're just the way she lives. Nobody lives there,
- 12:01The water, the sewer, everything's shut off. But if you have
- 12:05any of these, give our Planning and Development Office a call. Refer these
- 12:09over go on our website find my email address, Lance Wheeler at Canall dot
- 12:15us send me an email in for these That's really the best way that we
- 12:18can help clean up these communities is about the you know, the community members
- 12:22coming together and letting us know where these structures are and we get to them
- 12:26right away. What else is on the horizon for you, sir, and
- 12:30for the County Commission, Well, I'll tell you. I came on here
- 12:31and I announced that we were going to have the Hatfield McCoy dirt bike trails
- 12:35out in Tornado right across from Metalwood to our County park. I've been in
- 12:41talks with Jeff lust the director of the Hatfield McCoy, and they tell me
- 12:46that the project's on its way and we're hoping to open here in the spring.
- 12:50It's actually interesting because just yesterday I got a call from a constituent,
- 12:52well not a constituent, it was a resident out of Putnam County called my
- 12:56office to say, I'm very excited about this. Come into Connall County.
- 13:01I don't have to drive all the way to Boone County now, just so
- 13:03I can ride my dirt bike. I gave him a call back yesterday and
- 13:07I was able to talk to him for a while, and you know,
- 13:09we talked about how this is great for kids. You know a lot of
- 13:11young people who want to ride dirt bikes get out there and you know what
- 13:16they say, the idle hands or the Devil's workshop, and I think that's
- 13:20true. And I think having this available through young kids to be able to
- 13:24have recreational activities here in Kennall County, it's good for them, it's good
- 13:28for the community, and we're just excited to have this open. We can't
- 13:31wait for the ribbon cutting, and we invite everyone to come out who wants
- 13:33to ride a dirt bike, whether you've rode one for your entire life or
- 13:37you just want to learn. Dave, I'd love to have you out there
- 13:39if you want to try, I know, I'll tell you. You know,
- 13:41in the part of the world that I am originally from, I was
- 13:43there from the very beginning with the Hatfeld McCoy Trail development. I sat in
- 13:46on some of the first meetings of the nineteen nineties when they were talking about
- 13:50this thing, and I was like a lot of people thinking, Yeah,
- 13:52I don't know if people are going to come to ride these trails. They
- 13:56did forty five fifty countries. I mean, I mean literally that's and as
- 14:01you said, it's great for younger people. And now they've developed the trails
- 14:05to not only I know we're talking about dirt bikes here, but they've they've
- 14:09developed them for jeeps and for other things, and it has been it has
- 14:13meant the world to places like Mingo County Gilbert in places like that, where
- 14:18like everybody that's got an extra room is now suddenly a bed and breakfast and
- 14:22that's not necessarily a bad thing. So do we have a timetable on that.
- 14:26We're looking at the spring they're currently right now on the property trail.
- 14:31Yeah, this spring, Oh, this spring coming up? Yeah, yeah,
- 14:33I still consider this winter. Well technically, yeah, we're still in
- 14:37winter. I've got an engineer, don't even but I think the seventy degree
- 14:41temperature just to make us think it's spring. But we're talking here like in
- 14:43the next couple of weeks months or so. Yeah, probably the next couple
- 14:46of months, just to be a conservative estimate on that, but you know,
- 14:48we're excited. Actually, I went on vacation with my wife to Virginia
- 14:52and we met a young lady who told me that she likes to ride dirt
- 14:56bikes, and I got very excited to tell her about our project. I
- 14:58showed all the plans and she said, Wow, that's amazing. I'm going
- 15:03to come and ride that trail that I'd love to do that. This is
- 15:07somebody who's living in Virginia, western part of Virginia, but Virginia who's telling
- 15:11me that they're going to come to Charleston, West Virginia, to Canall County
- 15:13to ride our dart Pike trails. This is going to be great for tourism,
- 15:16it's going to be great for small businesses, it's going to be great
- 15:18for the community. Those are the three check boxes I always look for when
- 15:22a project comes together. Kadan County Commission President Lance Wheeler, I forgot to
- 15:26put the president. That's all right, you can call me Lance. It's
- 15:30very close enough. Canagh County Commission President Lance Wheeler of the show. Thanks

- 20:17now, Sophiel, let's talk about this program, and let's talk about your
- 20:19involvement and what's mister Tyree's involvement, and tell us what the program is.
- 20:23All right, So I am the volunteer race structure for The Tunnel to Towers
- 20:27run in Ripley, West Virginia. So basically, Tunnel to Towers is to
- 20:32remember nine to eleven and honor first responders and military members. So basically,
- 20:37on nine to eleven, a firefighter named Stephen Siller, he was just getting
- 20:41off of his shift when he heard what was happening, and he strapped sixty
- 20:44pounds of gear on his back and he ran through the Brooklyn Battery tunnel and
- 20:48ultimately died at the Towers. And he actually left behind multiple children with his
- 20:52wife, and so his family started this to help first responders and military members
- 20:56in their spouses. So if they pass away and leave behind a spouse and
- 21:00young children, they will pay off their mortgage and the same of if they
- 21:03are catastrophically injured, they will build them a smart home adjusted to their needs.
- 21:07And they actually just started a new program to help their trying to eradicate
- 21:11veteran homelessness. So right now what they're doing is they're going in and revamping
- 21:15old hotels and they are putting in there to help with PTSD. They're having
- 21:22just multiple people around, just a little community to people together and helping support
- 21:26them. But they're also giving them trade skills to be able to not only
- 21:30just have this as permanent housing, but to also go out into the society
- 21:33and really make a living for themselves and not be dependent on the Foundation for
- 21:37the rest of their life. And obviously if they would need to, they're
- 21:41there for that. But and basically what they're also doing, they're also coming
- 21:45in and helping in our communities. So if we know of a veteran that
- 21:49is homeless and you want to reach out to the Foundation, they will do
- 21:52everything in their power to help find them housing in this state as well.
- 21:56So I just think that's amazing that they're just now starting this program. But
- 22:00mister Tyree is here. He has been very instrumental in helping us just get
- 22:04the information out to the state. We're very thankful for all of the help
- 22:08he's given us. So you're on the spot now, Miche to talk.
- 22:14Yes, sir, this is a great program. And not realizing it's only
- 22:18been three years, this young lady is a wonderful advocate for Tunnel Tunnels to
- 22:26Tower as a race director and she should be commended. But West Virginia's always
- 22:33come to the table to help and support and they've done that in the last
- 22:38few years, the last three years, and we're looking to help protect those
- 22:45that protect us and our first responders. And that's something I enjoyed talking to
- 22:48you about last year, Ken, And that's the fact that obviously you've been
- 22:52you've been a first responder for how many years? Now, well, let's
- 22:56see you a few years, yes, sir, it's a few years.
- 22:59Yeah. So this is it's got to hold a special place in your heart
- 23:02to get involved in this because you and I are old enough. Sophia may
- 23:06not be, but you and I are old enough to remember watching the horrors
- 23:10of nine to eleven and seeing what happened on that September day. And I
- 23:14mean as me as a civilian, it impacted me greatly. I can't imagine
- 23:19how it impacted people like you that are first responders that have been not in
- 23:25that kind of a situation. But you've been in those situations. Now,
- 23:26was your brothers and sisters out there? Man? Yes, So, having
- 23:30served in the military for nine years and then now thirty years in the fire
- 23:36service, it does hold a special place for me recognizing that those that have
- 23:42sacrificed their life for us, not just civilians, but all of us have
- 23:48protected us throughout this nation and internationally, and those that are here local volunteering
- 23:55as firefighters, the MS workers, and law enforcement person all throughout the state.
- 24:00This is a great program to be involved in. I hope people will
- 24:04participate, whether it's through participating in the run, or getting sponsorship for those
- 24:11that are running, or coming out and supporting it through physically being there,
- 24:18or providing donations to all these great programs that are helping those that in some
- 24:23ways are not able to help themselves anymore. That made the sacrifice and did
- 24:29what they could for us, and now it's time for us to be there
- 24:33for them. You know, we're talking with Ken Tyree who stay fire Marshall
- 24:36and also Sofia. Why go about the Tunnels Towers program? Big event coming
- 24:40met up in Ripley and Sophia. You're relatively young, okay, So I'm
- 24:42just gonna say you're very young. You're still a high school student, is
- 24:45that right? So the high school stud Ripley High School. I am actually
- 24:48homeschool home school, that's right. I remember that. That's I remember that
- 24:51from last year. So, but your native of Ripley, Okay, So
- 24:53why why do you and your friends and I say this because I learned this
- 24:56and talking to you the last couple of years, the one on the radio,
- 25:00and you're the one that we see on television talking about this. But
- 25:02you've got a lot of your friends that get involved. Why is this so
- 25:04important for people of your age to do this? Well, I think what's
- 25:07important is, like you said, we weren't around for nine to eleven,
- 25:11and you know, I think with history, it's important that we never forget
- 25:14what happened. And so for us, this is an event and a foundation
- 25:18that they really have a youth initiative to make sure that the generations that are
- 25:22coming up. You know, more and more people are you know, they
- 25:26don't really remember what happened on a nine to eleven And even people who are
- 25:29older. I know my sister, she was maybe two or three when it
- 25:33happened, so obviously they aren't able to comprehend what's going on. But I
- 25:37will say what's important is that we teach our children in the upcoming generations about
- 25:41what happened at nine to eleven. And this is what this event does.
- 25:44When you bring your children to our event, because this is a family friendly
- 25:47event, you can bring your dogs, you can just bring your strollers and
- 25:51walk through it. But really what it does is it teaches them about nine
- 25:53to eleven and the sacrifice that so many people made. But on top of
- 25:56that, it teaches them to appreciate and honor our first responders and military members
- 26:00because as he said, they do so much for us, and they make
- 26:03so many sacrifices that we should be able to help take care of them as
- 26:07well when they need the help. But I just think it's great for really
- 26:11everybody in the school is to be involved, because, as I said,
- 26:15it's something that you know, we need to be sure we never forget and
- 26:18we need to pass on to the coming generations. Twenty seven minutes away from

- 26:40will be on the show tomorrow to answer your real estate questions. All right,
- 26:42let's talk about the actual event. It's going to be in Ripley.
- 26:45Yes, give us the date, give us the time, give us all
- 26:48the info. So it is going to be like you said in Ripley,
- 26:52it's going to be on April twentieth at ten o'clock. We tried to move
- 26:55it up a little bit so we could all get a little bit of extra
- 26:56sleep in the morning. But basically, as I said, this is a
- 27:00family friendly event. If you're a competitive runner and you want to come out
- 27:04here and run your best time that you've ever done, we encourage that.
- 27:07But we also encourage people who are not runners. You know, you don't
- 27:11have to be a fast runner or even a walker. You know, I
- 27:12can't run to save my life, so I would be walking that course and
- 27:15I'd probably be the last one to finish. But you know, it's not
- 27:18about competition. It's about raising money for this great event, which is something
- 27:22that we're trying to really push. If you, once you actually sign up
- 27:26for the run, it will ask you it will actually do a fundraiser page
- 27:30automatically for you and what we ask for you to do. You know,
- 27:33you don't have to be giving maybe fifty dollars, but if you go ask
- 27:37people around you, maybe your family, Hey, would you donate a dollar
- 27:40or ten dollars to my fundraising page? All of that money goes towards these
- 27:44programs. You know, ninety five cents on the dollar goes towards the programs.
- 27:47The CEO of the foundation is actually a pay unpaid volunteer, So I
- 27:52just think that's great and knowing that your money is going to these programs to
- 27:56help these first responders and military members and veterans. But what you can do
- 28:00is you can go out, you have your fundraiser page, and all of
- 28:03your friends and family can go and donate a dollar, ten dollars, whatever
- 28:06they feel like donating, and it actually shows up in your thing. We
- 28:10have top fundraiser awards that they are able to win, like gift cards.
- 28:15Actually Planet Fitness has been able to Anytime Fitness, I'm sorry, Anytime Fitness
- 28:22has been able to donate two six month free memberships. Get you're ready to
- 28:27run for next year? Oh yeah yeah, so but you know, we
- 28:30really want to encourage that right now. We also have we're still in our
- 28:33sponsorship. The deadline has not passed for that. So if you know of
- 28:37any businesses who would want a sponsorship, we are looking for that as well.
- 28:41And how's my favorite Mayor and Ripley doing, Carolyn Raider. She's doing
- 28:45great. She's a big help with this as well. She came down I
- 28:48think with you maybe last year or the year before. I think she came
- 28:49down with you one time the first year she did. Mayor Raider is one
- 28:53of my favorite people in the world. She's really to get people. Now.
- 28:56You know you're talking about how you couldn't run. Okay, well you're
- 29:00young. I'm fifty three, so I'm not going to be running. But
- 29:03Steve Bishop is from our sister station V one hundred. Steve is our designated
- 29:07runner in the building. So anytime there's a race, whether it be a
- 29:11bike or be whatever, we just send Bishop. And so we're going to
- 29:15make sure that Steve Bishop's there for you on April twentieth. Oh yeah,
- 29:17well, I'd love to see you there too. You can walk it.
- 29:19I can coop. You got that. We can walk it, he says,
- 29:22we can walk it. Give us the details before we let you go
- 29:25again. Give us the website, give us the date, give us the
- 29:26time about this very very worthwhile evam. All right, so it's going to
- 29:30be April twentieth at ten am in Ripley, West Virginia. If you want
- 29:34to see our Facebook page that is Tunnel to Towers, Ripley, West Virginia.
- 29:37We post, we try to post as often as we can. Our
- 29:42website. If you want to go to tetwot dot org and then just put
- 29:47in Ripley, West Virginia for finding runs. And on top of that,
- 29:51if you go to run sign up, you can also click on find a
- 29:53race and then you just put in Tunnel to Towers Ripley, West Virginia and
- 29:56it pulls our race right up. So if you have an any questions,
- 30:00you can email us at Ripley at t twot dot org and that comes directly
- 30:03tested. So we'd be happy to answer any questions that you have. All
- 30:07right, well, Ken, it's always a pleasure to see you as well.
- 30:08Man, Thank you, I appreciate it. Will you be running in
- 30:11the race. I will not be running. I will be there present.
- 30:15I'll watch all you good people run, go run. And this is a
- 30:18single West Virginia event. This Tunnel to Towers run is the only single West
- 30:25Virginia event, so we just asked and encourage people to please support it.
- 30:29Indeed, all right, guys, as always, I love talking to you
- 30:32every year. I think it's wonderful this program that you're involved with, the
- 30:34Tunnel to Tower Sophia Ken and Mom in the corner. Thanks. Nobody puts
- 30:38baby in the corner, but we did put mom in the corner. All

- 35:02Facebook. Oh I don't care. You're not the first one nor the last
- 35:07one to misspell it. It's a hard name to read, hard name to
- 35:12say, hard name to say. Well, I'll go back and correct that
- 35:14after the show, Alex, I apologize for that. You can call me
- 35:17Alex all right, Alex all right, Well you got it, you know,
- 35:21for a district that isn't in our quote unquote listening area. Per se,
- 35:23This shows we get a lot of interest in people wanting to represent Congress
- 35:28in your district. And I explained though last week that with the majority of
- 35:30listeners to this show streaming it, I'm not sure what a listening audience is
- 35:36anymore. So we appreciate you and others coming on the show. Give us
- 35:39your background now, like tell us about Alex So. I'm a thirty one
- 35:44year old conservative fighter that was born and raised in West Virginia that's standing up
- 35:50now to save our republic, which I believe in it's final hours. We
- 35:52have got to send young, energetic leadership to Washington, d C. To
- 35:58take on the left, as on the anti Mayora organism, to secure the
- 36:00border, to turn on our energy independence back on, to allow you to
- 36:05keep more of your money, To dramatically reduce and de scale tyrannical government that
- 36:10is way too big and way too large. At this point, we have
- 36:15one shot here in West Virginia, and we have to send somebody like myself
- 36:20who was born and raised here but also understands the problems facing us as a
- 36:24country. Let's talk about the biggest needs specifically not just for your district,
- 36:30but the state of West Virginia. What you talked about there is all well
- 36:32and good, and I agree with you on those things. But let's talk
- 36:35about specifically for the state of West Virginia. If elected, what do you
- 36:37hope to accomplish specifically for the Mountain State. Well, right now, I'm
- 36:42very upset. You know, my district is really under an unemployment assault right
- 36:45now. We just got terrible news for Alleghany wood products in Grant County,
- 36:50which is in my district. We just lost nine hundred jobs in the Northern
- 36:55Panhandle. So steel workers and wood workers are her today in my district.
- 37:00So the first thing I want to do is bring focus and leadership and dedication
- 37:07to trying to help these communities get better jobs and more of our heritage resource
- 37:13jobs. So that's a big concern for me right now, is bringing economic
- 37:20opportunity to my district. So my thoughts and my prayers, my family's thoughts
- 37:23and prayers are with the many that have lost their jobs in recent weeks in
- 37:28our district. But Dave, Allan Chow and five Ana and I brought to
- 37:30you a part by Bridge Valley. If you're interested in proving your company's IT

- 37:47more information. Alex how's the campaign been so far? It's great. Of
- 37:52course. The second district encompasses twenty seven counties. We have been to all
- 37:59twenty seven counties. I have campaign signs out in most of all of the
- 38:04twenty seven counties now. We just hit Preston County the other night, so
- 38:08we were first on the ground with any sort of presence as far as there's
- 38:14an election coming up on May fourteenth, which is very critical and vital to
- 38:17the continuance of our republic and to the United States, and we were first
- 38:22on the turf. So I think West Virginians that have been waking up in
- 38:27these counties over the last several weeks have noticed that we are the first candidate
- 38:32to try to earn their vote through our signs. Talking Alexander Gosserut again,
- 38:38who is a candidate for Congress and District two, alex With West Virginia being
- 38:44such a bright red state, chances are a lot of the races are good
- 38:46to be decided in the primary. So what sets you apart from the other
- 38:50Republicans? I had one on the show last week in Chris Walker. The
- 38:53current state treasure Riley Moore is another one that want said position. What sets
- 38:58Alexander Gossrut apart from those gay Well, first of all, I'm from the
- 39:00state of West Virginia. I was born and raised here, so I'm native
- 39:04to the state. So that's a big difference right off the bat. The
- 39:07second difference is I don't hail from a political family. I'm not part of
- 39:10a political family dynasty. Politics isn't a job that gets passed down in my
- 39:15family. It's something that I have a natural, inate ability to execute.
- 39:19And I believe we're in the final hours right now of this Republic. So
- 39:22West Virginians have a clear choice here. Send somebody from West Virginia that is
- 39:27young and that can fight for them, can fight for their right Because I
- 39:30want to tell you something, what happened with Lake and Riley is coming to
- 39:36West Virginia. If we allow this border to remain open, and we allow
- 39:40this invasion to continue, we will see great violence. So, if you
- 39:44care about your family, if you care about your mother, your father,
- 39:47if you care about your sons, your daughters, your children, your grandchildren,
- 39:51there is only one person that you can trust to go fight for you
- 39:55in a corrupt swamp in Washington, DC, and that's Alexander Gasprout. Where
- 40:00can people know, Oh, I'm sorry, go ahead. I'm the only
- 40:02one that can stand up to the radical leftism. I'm the only one that
- 40:07has put out in plain English how we secure the border. I'm the only
- 40:09one that knows that we have to reduce these three letter agencies and defund government,
- 40:14have less people working in government. We're at a critical juncture in American
- 40:17history. We're at a critical juncture in the state of West Virginia and the
- 40:21people of the West Virginia Second Congressional District have a real chance to help our
- 40:25nation, and sending anybody other than myself to fight for them is not going
- 40:30to work. I'm the only one that can be trusted to go fight for
- 40:32them because of my ability and my knowledge of what's going on in this nation.
- 40:37And where can people learn more about your campaign. Alex. You can
- 40:40reach me at Gassirude g AA S E r U D the number four WV
- 40:46dot com. And you can also email me at Gasaru for WV at gmail
- 40:53dot com. All right, Alex, it's always a pleasure to have you
- 40:57on the show. Alex Gasaru or gas Route or or Alex or Alexander uh.
- 41:01And I'll correct a spelling on the Facebook page. Man, I promise
- 41:05you're all good. Dave, heye, you know what the name. The
- 41:07name stands out a little bit. It might be hard to say, but
- 41:09they'll recognize it on the South. They're not gonna get it mixed up with
- 41:14anybody named Smith on the ballot. I can tell you that no, they're
- 41:16no, they're not they're not. All right, Alex, I appreciate you
- 41:20being here. Man. We'll talk Sue, best of luck in the campaign
- 41:22you. Alex Gaserud again, he's a Republican Canada for Congress and District two.

- 47:14this TV show What Would You Do? Aired on ABC Television Sunday night.
- 47:19As I said, I don't watch a lot of other television other than sports
- 47:22or biographies or documentary or maybe a comedy show or something, so I've never
- 47:24even heard of the show, sadly, until it was announced it would be
- 47:28filming in Charleston. They filmed it at Black Sheep Burrito and at the Purple
- 47:31Onion at Capital Market and again. Our sister station V one hundred yesterday posted
- 47:36a list of the shows and when they would air. I shared it on
- 47:38my social media as well. I watched a clip yesterday via YouTube. So
- 47:44basically they had an actor pretending to be a bartender there and an actress pretending
- 47:49to be homeless to come in and asking for a meal. Well, the
- 47:52actor asked her to leave. The whole idea, I guess, was to
- 47:53see how many patrons would stick up for her, and a few did.
- 47:58Really only one guy, and poor guys getting crucified on social media seemed to
- 48:02be the only one taking issue with her not being served there, And I'm
- 48:07not sure how the other patrons as I was watching yesterday, not sure how
- 48:10the other patrons could not think this whole thing was a work because it did
- 48:15not seem to me to be real at all as as I was watching it.
- 48:22But I'm the natural cynic. The whole thing just seemed to me to
- 48:24be very, very forced, and a woman certainly didn't look like a homeless
- 48:29individual, especially the one you see in Charleston. I don't know. I'm
- 48:31not gonna judge the whole thing because they have a network television show and I'm
- 48:35just a lowly radio host in Charleston, Westerngaia. But the whole thing seemed
- 48:38completely staged and unnecessary to me. Let's go to the phones. Is this
- 48:44my friend, Jim? Jim? Are you there? Hellose days? He
- 48:50is back, but he's not in Charleston anymore. Jim, how are you,
- 48:53buddy? Well? I'm doing okay. I've had some medical problems that
- 48:58had to have a my big two AFT to tell you on my left foot.
- 49:04But I hope that Amanda and Mike Christian's achieving you up to day to
- 49:08what's going on. I am currently in Richie County, and let me tell
- 49:15you what. The second progressional race is hot and heavy. Alex Mooney is
- 49:22doing more TV advertising than I have seen in my lifetime. Well, Alex
- 49:30Moone's running for Senate. But but you're talking about the other congression race pretty
- 49:34hot up there in Richie County Gym. Yeah. Yeah, Richie County is
- 49:39a nice little county and I miss everybody in Charleston, but I will still
- 49:45will be in touch and hope people don't forget. We never will forget you.
- 49:50Jim, I appreciate you. Call it man, be careful and keep
- 49:52it keep a lockdown there in Richie County. Man, I appreciate you.

- 50:34the homeless. It's a texture, all right. So I'm going to close
- 50:37with this. I don't normally like to preview my show's too far in advance
- 50:42because things can change, schedules change, breaking news, so on and so
- 50:45forth. However, I do want to put this one on your radar next
- 50:50Monday, one week from yesterday. You may want to set the reminder for
- 50:53this one. Of course, Dave Nation, listening to the show, either
- 50:57live or be a podcast, should be part of your daily routine. Any
- 51:00Way, next Monday, I'm going to have on the show. Are you
- 51:01ready for this candidate for Congress, Derrick Evans. Do you know that Derrick
- 51:08Evans, the Derek Evans is in the Capitol, Derrick Evans, the January
- 51:13sixth prisoner, Derrick Evans. Well, he's out and he's running and he
- 51:19is his people, he's got people ask if he could come on the show,
- 51:23and I said yes. Now, look, I have made my feelings
- 51:27known about Derreck Evans, and he has made his feelings known about me via
- 51:31social media, via the Twitter machine. It's all good. Though. I
- 51:37mean, they reached out and I said yes. And as a talk show
- 51:40host during a political campaign season, I can get in a lot of trouble
- 51:46by not allowing candidates the same access to the airwaves that their political opponents have.
- 51:52Okay, I'll have him, but I'll say this and I'll close to
- 51:55this. I would probably have him on any way because I'm a fan of
- 52:00this thing called free speech. And free speech means giving the green light the
- 52:05voices you like and some that you don't necessarily agree with. So when his
- 52:08folks emailed me yesterday and said he'd like to come on the show, I
- 52:14said yes, so it could be next Monday. And he's following Fred Persinger
- 52:19on the show next Monday. So that out, and we got Amy good
- 52:22one after that on the show next Monday. Should be fun, all right.
- 52:25I gotta go. Thank you to all my guests today, Thanks to
