- 0:01Speaker 1: Here we are, guys, our last break of the day.
- 0:03Speaker 1: We always want to say thank you to our fabulous audience,
- 0:06Speaker 1: our Steve Harvey Nation, for listening every single day. We
- 0:09Speaker 1: appreciate you and we love you. Thank you. Yep. And
- 0:12Speaker 1: welcome back, Steve.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I got some closing remarks. I've been thinking about
- 0:18Speaker 2: a couple of things because somebody pointed something out to me.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I was talking about the importance of voting and I
- 0:26Speaker 2: was talking about, you know, how this past two years
- 0:31Speaker 2: under this administration has affected everybody. And this guy that
- 0:40Speaker 2: I was talking to got to talking about money. And
- 0:44Speaker 2: he says, well, excuse me, man, but I think you're
- 0:47Speaker 2: above the fray on this one right here. I don't
- 0:49Speaker 2: think you're qualified to talk about how this has affected
- 0:54Speaker 2: the common man. And I said, why you say that, brother?
- 0:57Speaker 2: He said, because You're not really calming. He said, so
- 1:02Speaker 2: you fighting for a cause that you may not understand.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I said, really?
- 1:10Speaker 2: I said, tell me what it is about poverty that
- 1:13Speaker 2: I don't understand. Tell me one thing I don't know
- 1:16Speaker 2: about it. And he was saying, well, I'm just saying
- 1:20Speaker 2: right now, you being a fortunate person right now, it
- 1:23Speaker 2: doesn't come across as authentic because you are a successful person.
- 1:29Speaker 2: You are the ones that you wanted a few that
- 1:33Speaker 2: have come through the cracks. I said, listen to me, man.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I said, I'm on my radio show imploring people to vote,
- 1:39Speaker 2: not for the few.
- 1:40Speaker 1: So what? I slipped through the cracks. So what?
- 1:44Speaker 2: That ain't what I'm talking about. It ain't enough that
- 1:46Speaker 2: a few of us slipped through the cracks. That ain't
- 1:50Speaker 2: the objective here. First of all, I want to know
- 1:53Speaker 2: why is there a crack here?
- 1:55Speaker 1: Let's just start right there.
- 1:57Speaker 2: And then secondly, I'm not concerned with the ones that
- 2:00Speaker 2: just slip through the crack. I'm talking about the ones
- 2:03Speaker 2: that keep falling in the crack, that can't get out
- 2:06Speaker 2: the crack. And why is it that we can't get
- 2:08Speaker 2: a crack? And why are we in a position where
- 2:10Speaker 2: we can flourish and nourish and not have to come
- 2:13Speaker 2: through this crack? I said, bro, that's what I'm out
- 2:16Speaker 2: here fighting for. I said, but I spent more time
- 2:18Speaker 2: in the crack than I have above it. I said,
- 2:21Speaker 2: but let me tell you something. Even though I'm above it,
- 2:23Speaker 2: I'm still black. I'm still black. When I walk in
- 2:27Speaker 2: the room, I'm the black dude in the room. When
- 2:31Speaker 2: I go to these board meetings, I be the black
- 2:33Speaker 2: person at the board meeting. I'm still doing that, man.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I take pictures with rich people and famous people and
- 2:41Speaker 2: people of authority, and I be the only black in
- 2:44Speaker 2: the picture sometimes. So we ain't talking about me. How
- 2:48Speaker 2: by the grace of God, I slipped through the cracks.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Why I got to slip through the cracks? Why is
- 2:55Speaker 2: it a crack for me and you and anybody else
- 2:57Speaker 2: that look like me? Why are they even a crack?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Ain't nobody else got to slip through no cracks. Everybody
- 3:05Speaker 2: else just get the water. They get fertilized. They get nurtured.
- 3:08Speaker 2: They get sunlight. They get exposure. And all like this here.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Why I got to be happy? Because I slipped through
- 3:16Speaker 2: the cracks. But if I ain't got nobody to come
- 3:20Speaker 2: out to crack with me, what good is it to
- 3:22Speaker 2: be out to crack? I said, look, man, it's just
- 3:25Speaker 2: not enough of us that's successful. Now, you can blow
- 3:29Speaker 2: up the ones that is all you want to, but
- 3:31Speaker 2: it's just not enough of us, man. It's still too
- 3:35Speaker 2: many of us buried. Too many of us still struggling.
- 3:39Speaker 2: And then you got this administration, man, and I do
- 3:42Speaker 2: not understand how we don't say, you know what I'm
- 3:44Speaker 2: really confused about? It's two groups that just throw me.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Latinos for Trumps. And blacks for Trump. I just, them
- 3:53Speaker 2: two groups right there, them two t-shirts, them two hats,
- 3:58Speaker 2: them two groups, them two, you know, and did you
- 4:03Speaker 2: see the black girl that was the MAGA supporter that
- 4:05Speaker 2: went to this Paxson rally and they threw her out?
- 4:10Speaker 2: And now she just confused about, what you confused about?
- 4:15Speaker 2: But when you get unconfused about you being.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Black, when did it clear up for you?
- 4:22Speaker 2: I want to know when it cleared up. Because I
- 4:24Speaker 2: didn't get the memo. Because I'm still in it, man.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I am black first. Now, I want you to understand something.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Being black has been one of my proudest accomplishments. To
- 4:40Speaker 2: be who I am and to be black. Being black
- 4:43Speaker 2: has been one of my greatest joys. I wouldn't trade
- 4:46Speaker 2: this for nothing in the world.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I wouldn't, man.
- 4:51Speaker 2: The love I feel from black people, the love I
- 4:55Speaker 2: feel about black people, it's crazy, man.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I was born with soul. I have it in me.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I was born with the rhythm.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I was born with fire and funk and the ability
- 5:09Speaker 2: to endure.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I was born with it. I got it from my ancestors.
- 5:17Speaker 2: If our ancestors can endure all that they've endured, how
- 5:20Speaker 2: we can't endure this?
- 5:23Speaker 1: How?
- 5:24Speaker 2: Look y'all, we done earned our stripes. And it's time
- 5:28Speaker 2: to take advantage of the simple things that we do have. See,
- 5:31Speaker 2: while they busy taking away DEI and they busy taking
- 5:34Speaker 2: away history in schools and they busy taking away the
- 5:38Speaker 2: Civil Rights Act and the Voter Rights Act and they
- 5:40Speaker 2: steady taking away.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Man, do you know that the big, beautiful bill came along?
- 5:44Speaker 2: Do you know that they ended a lunch program that's
- 5:47Speaker 2: over 450,000 students now go to school hungry?
- 5:52Speaker 1: Ain't nobody saying nothing. And all we got to do
- 5:55Speaker 1: is vote.
- 5:57Speaker 2: You mean to tell me that all we got to
- 5:59Speaker 2: do is vote and we could change this? All we
- 6:03Speaker 2: got to do is vote and we could have a
- 6:05Speaker 2: say-so in this? And then we got some people talking
- 6:08Speaker 2: about they ain't going to vote. Man, y'all Latinos for
- 6:12Speaker 2: Trump and Blacks for Trump. What is wrong with you?
- 6:16Speaker 2: And it ain't just.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Nicki Minaj or fighters and all like that. It's just, look, man.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Man, we got to do better for each other. We
- 6:26Speaker 2: just got to do better for each other. That's my
- 6:29Speaker 2: closing remarks. I was all over the place, but I
- 6:31Speaker 2: don't even care. Feel how you want to feel.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I'm through.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Y'all have a great day. Talk to God. He'd love
- 6:37Speaker 2: to hear from you. Quit calling me.
