- 0:00They're going to have a ton of money to spend, why not putting
- 0:03in one of the top? Three offensive.
- 0:04Players in the league, we're going to be looking at Aaron
- 0:14Judge and saying that he can't win the big game, Michael Jordan
- 0:18said. I played 82 games.
- 0:20You don't see LeBron. Doing that, a game where you got
- 0:23to go. For four, I told you giant feet
- 0:26and Saquon Barkley at this point, say
- 0:41whatever you want. He's the best quarterback in the
- 0:44NFL. Really.
- 0:54I can go through my mind behind the speed of rain and when this
- 0:57is going from my eyes. Let's do it.
- 1:27You're listening to Jabba and the mouth, mouth.
- 1:34Yup, Yup, Yup, Yup. It is a crazy, crazy, I guess
- 1:39fall. We're about to go into winter.
- 1:42Jabba had 20° weather and now I think it's about 70 over there
- 1:47in Nebraska. Here in New York it is about
- 1:51right now 39. All day it's been a mixture of
- 1:55rain and sleet or whatever the hell you call it, a little snow.
- 2:00You're listening to a new show of Jabba and the mouth you just
- 2:05heard Mr. Aaron Fish Fishman, our executive producer.
- 2:09My name is Errol Marx, my Co host, Mr. Flamethrower himself,
- 2:13Jabba Chamberlain and Speedy Petey.
- 2:16Yes, and he is so energized tonight.
- 2:19Aren't we, Speedy? You energized to be determined?
- 2:23Well, we're going to have to get you energized tonight because
- 2:27there could be a new Mets pitcher before winter meetings
- 2:32or maybe after. We're going to get into it.
- 2:34He's a Cy Young winner. We'll get into it a little bit
- 2:38later in the show. Yes.

- 3:03Shout out to Nathan. Yes, he wanted to give me a
- 3:06shout. We he wanted me to give him a
- 3:09shout out and I'm going to give him a shout out.
- 3:12Our PR manager, the one the only Ness he's been hanging.
- 3:18He's been banging. Well, I hope he's been banging
- 3:21something. But yes, the one and only
- 3:24Nathan, our PR manager Tommy poops on the board as always.
- 3:30And our intern Jared, he's been, he's going to be going in and
- 3:33out throughout the show. ESPN reported on Tuesday that
- 3:38the Dallas Mavericks have fired general manager Nico Harrison
- 3:42after just over Four Seasons of leading the franchise.
- 3:47The firing followed a Mavericks loss to the Bucks Monday night,
- 3:51dropping them 2-3 and eight and and it's been a bad one, fire
- 3:57Nico was the chance echoed throughout the arena the whole
- 4:02evening, despite the Mavs being in the game the entire way.
- 4:07Meanwhile, Luka Doncic has excelled since he's been traded
- 4:11to the Lakers, and the Dallas prize return Anthony Davis has
- 4:15missed this game and has played in five games out of 11 so far
- 4:22this season. The Lakers have the opposite
- 4:25record at 8:00 and 3:00. Even though Luca hasn't had
- 4:30LeBron, I'll, I'll say it better.
- 4:32LA bum James all season. At the time of the controversial
- 4:38trade, Harrison told the rest of the front office in ownership
- 4:42that he took full responsibility for the move.
- 4:46Less than a year later, the move might even look worse than
- 4:50originally feared, leading Mavericks owner DuMont to pull
- 4:56the plug on Harrison, The Athletic reports the former
- 5:00majority owner Mark Cuban was very frustrated with Harrison
- 5:06and still is mad about Harrison not coming to him about Luca and
- 5:12the trade. Cuban reportedly told DuMont
- 5:16that he knew Harrison was leading the franchise in the
- 5:20wrong direction, and DuMont said other NBA owners he spoke with
- 5:27hated the trade for the franchise as well.
- 5:33I don't know anything about the owner of DuMont.
- 5:36What I do know is Mark Cuban built this franchise, this
- 5:42franchise that was really going nowhere.
- 5:44I remember when they were an expansion franchise and I
- 5:49remember, if I'm not mistaken, when Steve Nash was on this
- 5:52team, and I remember when Jason Kidd was on this team and Dirk
- 5:56Nowinski was on this team and winning champions Championship,
- 6:01not championships, championship. I look at The Mavericks
- 6:07organization and when you have a player like Luka Doncic, which,
- 6:11believe it or not, they traded for in the draft, they moved up
- 6:16to get Luka Doncic. Mark Cuban moved up to get Luca.
- 6:22And you watch what happened last year at the trade deadline,
- 6:25which shocked the world. It really it was the trade that
- 6:30everybody heard around the world.
- 6:32You got that job, you know that the baseball term.
- 6:35Yeah. But the fact here is The
- 6:40Mavericks are in position and in a position where nothing has
- 6:46worked. They bring in a young kid named
- 6:49Cooper Flagg who I still believe could be the future of this
- 6:52organization. I don't think he's Luka Doncic.
- 6:55Nobody ever thought he was going to be, but I did think he was
- 6:59going to be a better two way player.
- 7:01I thought he was going to slowly figure things out in the speed
- 7:06of the game. He's starting to remind me of a
- 7:10guy that play for Duke and that's Christian Leitner.
- 7:13And if he's anything close to Christian Laettner, he wasn't a
- 7:17good pro. Christian Laettner, I think in
- 7:19his career averaged about 11 or 12 points.
- 7:22That's not going to get it done as a number one player.
- 7:25It it being drafted as the number one pick in the draft.
- 7:29And, and really to look at what this team is and really where
- 7:34this team has gone in the 1st 11 games of the season is just
- 7:39there's a lot to go into. And Nico Harrison, yeah, he's a
- 7:43piece of the reason why this team has not flourished in the
- 7:47last four years. We all know he traded Luka
- 7:49Dodgek, and it was the worst trade ever.
- 7:51I heard Kevin Durant say it. I've heard LeBron James say it.
- 7:54I've heard everybody say it. So we understand it was a bad
- 7:57trade. But guess what?
- 8:00Does anybody think that LeBron James wasn't a part of it?
- 8:04The LJA, and I say this over and over and over again, LeBron
- 8:08James needed and they, the Lakers needed a player.
- 8:11And why was the Lakers the only team that was negotiating with
- 8:15the Dallas Mavericks? I've said this over and over and
- 8:18over again. The Celtics would have given
- 8:20them probably Jaylen Brown and maybe a couple of players to get
- 8:25Luka Tonjik. I think Jaylen Brown is more of
- 8:28an addition than Anthony Davis. Anthony Davis is an injury prone
- 8:33player. That's what he is.
- 8:38And by the way, Flag has not looked good and and and Fish
- 8:43could say whatever he wants. That is not I've watched Cooper
- 8:46Flag play college ball. I'm a Cooper Flag fan.
- 8:49I watched him play for Duke. He has not played well.
- 8:52He has not played as well as we expected him to play as a young
- 8:58player. I thought he was going to really
- 9:00start off really, really strong, averaging between 18 to 20
- 9:04points a game. He was not doing that and he's
- 9:07not playing the two-dimensional basketball that I thought he was
- 9:10going to play when he came into the league.
- 9:12I watch basketball more than any sport.
- 9:15I follow basketball more than any other sport.
- 9:18I've said this many, many times, and I'm a Duke Blue Devil fan.
- 9:22So I I fish. I don't care about one game.
- 9:27I don't care about one GameStop. With these statistics, he hasn't
- 9:32looked good. I don't care.
- 9:37You can come in when you want to come in after I'm done with my
- 9:40take. I don't care what you see with
- 9:43with with Cooper Flake. Cooper Flake has not played
- 9:45well. He hasn't.
- 9:47I thought he was going to come off a lot stronger.
- 9:50I know he's on a bad team, but he still has players around him,
- 9:54a lot more players than Luka Doncic does.
- 9:57Reeves has played well this year.
- 9:59Does any bully anybody believe that Reeves is an elite player
- 10:03or a third player on a team on a roster?
- 10:07He's had a good season. It's early.
- 10:09Let's see as the season moves forward with LeBron James, how
- 10:13good Reeves is going to play with the Lakers.
- 10:15When he's on the court. And I don't care if he's going
- 10:20to get paid. Every NBA player gets paid,
- 10:23including the guys on the bench. The fact here is Nico Harrison
- 10:30is going to be pointed and pointed to by not just the
- 10:35Dallas organization, by the NBA. Saying that he structured the
- 10:42opportunity for the Lakers to land Aluka Doncic to give him a
- 10:46chance to once again be superior and be a contending team in the
- 10:52NBA. Especially in a Western
- 10:55Conference that I believe should and will be dominated by OK C
- 11:00for the next 5 years. They needed that young superstar
- 11:04to take over for LeBron, and I believe that the NBA was
- 11:07involved with it. Now, I don't, I'm not going to
- 11:10assume anything because I don't have an inside source, but come
- 11:15on, guys. You look at the Lakers, they get
- 11:18everybody they want. The only player they never got
- 11:21was Chris Paul. Think about it.
- 11:24Chris Paul was practically traded to the Lakers and then
- 11:29David Stern stepped right in and said, Oh, no, this is not
- 11:34happening. This is not happening.
- 11:37If if Chris Paul was ever traded to the Lakers, you know how many
- 11:41championships Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol would have won with
- 11:44him? Forget it.
- 11:46It wouldn't have been fair it And that's that's the problem
- 11:50with sports now. These trios or whatever they
- 11:53call them or, and at the time it was starting to Tran, you know,
- 11:58transcend into the NBA because we saw Kevin Garnett do and Paul
- 12:02Pierce do it and Ray Allen do it.
- 12:07I look at the game and the understanding where the game is
- 12:12starting to move towards and and obviously you're not going to
- 12:16have Steph Curry here anymore. You're not going to have Kevin
- 12:18Durant soon. And LeBron James is going to be
- 12:20gone. We all know Carmelo Anthony was
- 12:22just inducted into the Hall of Fame.
- 12:24Chris Paul is still playing on one leg.
- 12:26When is he retiring? These old guys are going to be
- 12:29gone. Who's going to carry the torch
- 12:33and Nico Harris or Harrison had the guy.
- 12:38Luka Doncic is a top three player in the league when
- 12:42healthy at the top of his game. This guy is one of the best
- 12:47offensive players we have ever seen.
- 12:50He's an international phenomenon.
- 12:53Everybody talks about Yanis and Yokich.
- 12:56This guy is just as good as any one of those guys offensively.
- 13:00Maybe not defensively, but offensively.
- 13:02He can compete with anybody in the NBA.
- 13:06And I think that Nico was trying to do the one thing that was
- 13:14going to help Dallas, bring a casino back or bring a casino to
- 13:20Dallas and help them grow their product.
- 13:24To me, the factor here is the reason why ownership took over
- 13:28the Dallas Mavericks and took over.
- 13:30And Mark Cuban sold a significant portion, practically
- 13:34his whole portion and all ownership to DuMont and his
- 13:38family. They sold.
- 13:40He sold them that because the family wanted to bring in a
- 13:45casino. Now, it wasn't working with Luca
- 13:50being there. And Luca was complaining behind
- 13:55the scenes that he didn't like the way the organization was
- 13:59running and being run, and Nico Harrison was behind it.
- 14:03And when Nico found out that Luca knew what was going on,
- 14:08Nico automatically said probably to ownership, we don't need
- 14:12Luka. We could get a lot back for Luka
- 14:14Doncic. Let's move him and we'll see how
- 14:18everything falls. We're going to have money.
- 14:19We're going to have what? We'll add one or two players.
- 14:22We'll have draft picks. We can build on this.
- 14:24We don't have enough to win right now.
- 14:26Meanwhile, the year before the trade, they were in the Finals.
- 14:33They were in the Finals with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.
- 14:38They might have been a player away from being a contender
- 14:42again. And Nico Harrison did not like
- 14:46Luka Doncic and Mark Cuban did not know anything about this
- 14:52straight. As a matter of fact, Mark Cuban
- 14:54and Jason Kidd were shocked, shocked when the announcement
- 15:00came. And then Nico Harrison and Jason
- 15:02Kidd was speaking to the media and Jason's kid, Jason's kid,
- 15:06his mouth just dropped. He couldn't believe it.
- 15:10Remember when Frabel, Speedy Frabel found out?
- 15:13A.J. Brown in, in, in, in a draft
- 15:15which traded. Remember that?
- 15:16We were sitting there. What did he do?
- 15:20What did he do? He got up and he walked out of
- 15:24the draft room. Do you not remember that?
- 15:27Did you see how he slammed the door when A.J.
- 15:30Brown was traded to the Eagles and they made a trade and they
- 15:34got a first round draft pick for him and who they draft?
- 15:36Trailon Burks. Trailon Burks who's no longer on
- 15:40the team and might not even be in the NFL anymore.
- 15:43OK. They thought he was another A.J.
- 15:46Brown, that he was going to fit like a glove with the Tennessee
- 15:50Titans. And ever since they traded A.J.
- 15:52Brown, they have not been the same team.
- 15:56And Rabel knew his time there was coming to an end.
- 16:02He's with OK Fish. You don't have to keep, you
- 16:04know, we understand. I'm not going to mention that,
- 16:06but that's fine. Harrison is a guy that doesn't
- 16:14know the game of basketball. He didn't know how to control
- 16:18superstars. He couldn't control Kyrie Irving
- 16:21when he moved and he brought Kyrie Irving over there.
- 16:24He couldn't control Luka Doncic. He had a roster that actually
- 16:28was what very well put together. He made a trade at the trade
- 16:31deadline deadline to bring Washington in.
- 16:34PJ Washington was a great fit for the team.
- 16:37They added some bigs, they added some size.
- 16:39That's all they needed to get over the hump to knock off the
- 16:43Timberwolves to go to the Finals.
- 16:47And then out of nowhere, Nico Harrison decides to move one of
- 16:53the best young players in the NBA at the age of 25 to the
- 16:57Lakers when there were other teams probably lining up to give
- 17:01them a better deal. Anthony Davis is horrible.
- 17:05Anthony Davis hasn't stayed healthy for Four Seasons.
- 17:10He hasn't been fully see fully healthy.
- 17:13And as a matter of fact, I don't think Anthony Davis has played
- 17:15more than 68 games in Four Seasons.
- 17:19Now. He's played 68 games in in in
- 17:22those seasons, but I'm saying in in a full season, he hasn't
- 17:25played more than 68 games. And that's the problem with the
- 17:29NBA now. LeBron James, Gregg Popovich,
- 17:32they've changed the game because they don't care about the
- 17:34regular season. They just got to get into the
- 17:36playoffs. They got to they got to be they
- 17:39have to have home advantage, top three, top 4.
- 17:42And that's all it takes if you are a good team to win a
- 17:46championship. Nico Harrison right now is
- 17:51probably one of those guys that'll never get a job again.
- 17:55Billy King, Remember him? Speedy, You remember him next
- 18:00legend. Billy King decided.
- 18:04OK, and I don't know if anybody remembers this.
- 18:06He decided I'm going to bring in Kevin Garnett.
- 18:09I'm going to make a trade for Kevin Garnett.
- 18:11Paul Pierce. I'm going to bring in those
- 18:13guys. Yeah.
- 18:14Darren Williams there. I think Darren Williams was
- 18:16still there, right, Speedy? I'm pretty sure Darren Williams
- 18:18was still there. Made the worst trade.
- 18:21Yeah, broke of broke her off. I remember him.
- 18:23Owner, Russian owner. He made that trade.
- 18:26It was the worst trade in NBA history.
- 18:29You know why? Because the Celtics became rich.
- 18:32Because with that trade, the Celtics drafted two players that
- 18:38you know of right now that are in the NBA and they're
- 18:41superstars. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
- 18:45They got those two players from that trade.
- 18:49They got five first round picks from the Nets to land Kevin
- 18:54Garnett. Billy King is never going to get
- 18:57AGM job. He's never going to get an
- 18:58executive job after what he did with the Nets.
- 19:02He's never going to get another job after what he did to the to
- 19:05to the the Brooklyn Nets. He set the Nets back about 5 to
- 19:1010 years and that's that's even landing Kyrie Irving, that's
- 19:14even landing Kevin Durant and James Harden.
- 19:17It took a while for that to have actually happened.
- 19:21That trade put the Nets in Bean Townville where they're trying
- 19:26to sneak out of the hole or trying to find their way out of
- 19:29the hole and still to this day are still trying to figure out
- 19:33because of what Billy King did. I'm looking at what Fish is
- 19:37saying. The Nets had KG, Paul Pierce,
- 19:40Jason Terry, Darren Williams, Brook Lopez, Joe Johnson, all
- 19:45these guys here. Kevin Garnett was at the tail
- 19:48end of his career. Paul Pierce was at the tail tail
- 19:50end of his career. Jason Terry was at the the the
- 19:52tail end of his career. Darren Williams had how many
- 19:55ankle surgeries he was done. Brook Lopez was probably the
- 19:59best player on that roster that was still still one of the
- 20:04better big men in the NBA. And Joe Johnson washed up
- 20:08practically done as well. Everybody thought that was going
- 20:11to be a contending team and they weren't.
- 20:15Billy King was done within a year and a half.
- 20:18Billy King was fired, never got a job again.
- 20:21Nico Harrison. Now going back to Nico Harrison,
- 20:24I could say the same thing about Nico Harrison.
- 20:26Now Nico Harrison is never going to get a job again because no
- 20:31NBA owner, no NBAGM is ever going to see this guy or an
- 20:36executive is going to see this guy is the right fit, a perfect
- 20:41fit to their organization after he made this trade that sets
- 20:45this organization back for years.
- 20:49And even though they won the draft and I, we all know the
- 20:52lottery in the NBA is absolutely plagued because I think the NBA
- 20:58is behind it. We all know what David Stern did
- 21:00with the Knicks in 1985 and screwed the Knicks for getting
- 21:03another first and #1 pick in a draft with Patrick Ewing.
- 21:06I believe those balls are not bouncing.
- 21:09Those balls are only bouncing. And Adam Silver's pants, and
- 21:12maybe he's picking it out of LeBron James's pants while he's
- 21:15doing it. This is not a fair draft.
- 21:20It's not a fair lottery. How do you go from trading Luka
- 21:23Dodgic to winning the lottery when you were probably the 8th
- 21:27or 7th worst team going into the draft?
- 21:30How do you win the lottery like that?
- 21:32There's no possible way unless the NBA was tampering in with it
- 21:37and that's what they were doing. And they were trying to save
- 21:40Nico Harrison because after he made that Luka Dodgic trade, he
- 21:45said, oh, I got a plan. I got a plan in the offseason.
- 21:50I got a plan. What was his plan?
- 21:52The only plan he made was getting that number one pick and
- 21:56Anna Cooper Flagg and maybe trying to save the franchise.
- 22:00And it's going to take Cooper Flagg a lot longer than people
- 22:03think because Cooper Flagg is still I, I, I'm not going to say
- 22:08he's not good or he's not going to transition into a great
- 22:11player. He's still a little dry.
- 22:13I, I don't think he's the same players he was in college
- 22:16basketball. He still needs to figure out
- 22:19what his game is and how it fits in the NBA.
- 22:23And it's all The game is also different in the NBA than
- 22:25college. Of course, and it's a lot faster
- 22:27and you could see that it took a little while for Cooper Flag
- 22:33over the last couple of weeks to figure out how to put the ball
- 22:36in the net. As a matter of fact, his first
- 22:38three games, I think he was averaging about 9 or 8 points.
- 22:42He has to make sure he. Figures out a razor to get that
- 22:44facial hair. That's another thing I, I think
- 22:47he needs to go back to what he was doing and what has worked
- 22:49for him when he was playing for Duke.
- 22:52I so coach K was on a podcast recently and coach K asked, was
- 22:58asked, what do you think about Cooper and what type of player
- 23:01do you think he's going to be in the NBA?
- 23:03And coach K came out and said, I think he's going to be special.
- 23:05I think he's got the ability to be a star in this league.
- 23:09He just needs the right temperament.
- 23:11He needs the right people around him that's going to help him
- 23:14grow. So I don't remember who was
- 23:17interviewing me. And if I did, I don't want to
- 23:19throw him under the bus. He asked him about Kyrie Irving
- 23:23and he asked him, well, you coach Kyrie Irving, what what do
- 23:26you think about Kyrie? And he says, I coach Kyrie for a
- 23:30little bit of time because Kyrie hurt his foot.
- 23:32And he didn't really play for me the whole season.
- 23:36He was out a significant portion of the time.
- 23:38But he's a great leader. He's just a person that
- 23:43understands the game a little bit faster than most people.
- 23:47And then he asked them, what did he mean by that?
- 23:50And he said, well, the game comes fast to Kyrie, but the
- 23:54game slows down when Kyrie's on the court.
- 23:58And what he's pretty much saying is Kyrie, if Kyrie uses those
- 24:03abilities that he has, he's gained over the years and what
- 24:07he what Coach K has seen him as a player, Kyrie would be the
- 24:11best player in the league. But Kyrie can't handle shutting
- 24:13his mouth. Kyrie can't handle being a
- 24:15leader. As a matter of fact, Kyrie
- 24:17Irving has come out when he went to the Celtics.
- 24:21Remember that? And he said when when, when
- 24:24everybody was talking about leadership and how the fans were
- 24:27booing him. And I remember when he threw
- 24:29something at the fan, he got sued.
- 24:31Remember that? That whole craziness over there
- 24:33in Boston and, and that that debacle happened and, and I'll
- 24:38never forget it. Kyrie went out there on, you
- 24:41know, speaking to the media and says, now I understand what it
- 24:44is to be a leader. When LeBron was dealing with me,
- 24:46when he was dealing with Kevin, the different personalities in
- 24:49the locker room and what it was going to take to have these
- 24:52personalities work together. He says, I can't do that.
- 24:55I wish I'd never left. I wish I'd never left Cleveland.
- 24:59When you hear that from a guy who's so good and and so special
- 25:04at the game of basketball, it kind of gets you worried that
- 25:07when he comes back after the trade deadline, because that's
- 25:10when they're assuming he's going to be back in February.
- 25:14What is it going to do to Cooper Flag?
- 25:17Is it going to help Cooper Flag or is it going to push Cooper
- 25:22Flag off the the bridge or push him out where Cooper Flag is
- 25:27going to say it's either me or him.
- 25:28Get rid of him and, and and coach K.
- 25:32He'll never put anybody down that he coached.
- 25:34Never. I don't I've never seen coach K
- 25:36ever put down a player in his in his career, anybody's coach.
- 25:41That's why he picked John Shire to be his, his, his, his
- 25:44apprentice and eventually the coach and I now they give him a
- 25:47six year deal, which I think is absolutely ridiculous.
- 25:50I honestly, coach K is one of the best basketball minds I've
- 25:54ever seen. The one problem I could say
- 25:57about Coach K is he's the honesty is always broken when he
- 26:02talks about his own players and, and I'll go back to Nico
- 26:05Harrison. Nico Harrison was not honest to
- 26:08the fans, he was not honest to the ownership and he was not
- 26:14honest to Mark Cuban. When Mark Cuban came to him
- 26:18before the trade deadline and asked them, do you have any
- 26:21ideas who we can bring in to make this team better?
- 26:25And Nico said, well, I'm looking at some things.
- 26:28I'll let you know when, when it happens.
- 26:30And then within 24 hours, he traded the best player for a bag
- 26:35of bones, for a bag of balls for no reason.
- 26:39And nobody understands it. To this day, I don't even think
- 26:42Luca understands why he was traded to the Lakers.
- 26:45I don't think he's crying about it.
- 26:47I mean, Luca is, is a star. He's in commercials now, he's in
- 26:51LA, he's with all these beautiful women.
- 26:54I, I know he's got a girl, but I'm just saying he, he's got, he
- 26:57runs LA. He is the star of the Los
- 27:00Angeles Lakers. What would you rather be a Laker
- 27:04or a Maverick? I'd rather be a Laker.
- 27:06I mean, what about you, Speedy? What would you rather?
- 27:09Yeah, I think if you're any type of NBA star, you would
- 27:11definitely look at the Lakers and you would look at the
- 27:13obviously the glamour of Hollywood and the LA and stuff
- 27:15like that. It's like I it's like celebrity
- 27:17world W which about all the celebrity Knicks fans are in the
- 27:20audience. The Lakers have probably double
- 27:21the amount of that. And then all of a sudden you're
- 27:23branding with a team that won 17 championships, the most, tied
- 27:26for the most with the Celtics ever.
- 27:28And that's all of a sudden a high point of emphasis for most
- 27:32stars. Kawhi Leonard didn't want he
- 27:34want to play with LeBron, but pretty much everyone else, like
- 27:36you said, that wanted to go to the Lakers.
- 27:37He got they got there except for except for Chris Paul.
- 27:41And go back to the Chris Paul situation.
- 27:44Chris Paul was a great player. Could you imagine how great
- 27:47Chris Paul would be? Chris Paul's never won a
- 27:50championship. Never.
- 27:51He played with James Harden, he played with Lob City.
- 27:55He had Doc River as his coach. He had he had played for so many
- 28:00good teams. He was a great player.
- 28:01I honestly think Chris Paul's a top three-point guard of all
- 28:05time. People forget how great Chris
- 28:07Paul was. OK, Chris Paul's never won a
- 28:10championship. Now, if he went to the Lakers to
- 28:12play with that team, with Kobe Bryant and, and, and with Metta
- 28:19World Peace and Lamar Odom and all those guys, Andrew Bynum,
- 28:25let me ask you guys, how many championships do you think Chris
- 28:28Paul would have won? At least three, at least three,
- 28:32at least maybe 4-5. And what did David Stern do?
- 28:35He stepped in. Have we ever seen Adam Silver
- 28:38step in? Hell no.
- 28:40Have we ever seen Adam Silver stop any trade from happening?
- 28:44When you look at the trading, you're like, you put two and two
- 28:47together, like how does this? Make sense?
- 28:49He goes the other way. He looks the other way.
- 28:51Well, especially with the LJA, he'll, if LeBron wants another
- 28:55player, oh, oh, Luca Dodger doesn't matter for the salary
- 28:57cap and they'll find a way. And you know, what bothers me
- 28:59more than anything is LeBron. Everybody keeps saying LeBron
- 29:02didn't want Luca there. Are you kidding me?
- 29:04Come on, LeBron didn't want Luka Doncic playing with him over
- 29:08there in LA. He's got look, LeBron wants to
- 29:11catch Kobe. He wants to win five titles and
- 29:13maybe get to Jordan 6 because then he can consider himself,
- 29:17quote UN quote, the greatest basketball player of all time.
- 29:20Is he going to win a championship of Reeves in that
- 29:23bunch of garbage? Anthony Davis couldn't stay on
- 29:25the court. Not a chance in hell.
- 29:28He needed another young superstar that's going to help
- 29:30him take pressure off him and as he obviously gets older, can
- 29:35take that lead and take that captaincy to lead A-Team.
- 29:40That's something that LeBron James has never really gave
- 29:43anybody to because Lebron's always been the best player on
- 29:46his team. He's no longer that anymore.
- 29:49So to sit here and and say it's all about Nico Harrison and are
- 29:55we surprised Nico Harrison was fired?
- 29:57No, we're not surprised Nico Harrison was fired.
- 30:00I thought he was should have been fired last year.
- 30:02Of course I thought he should have been fired after that Luka
- 30:04dodgy trade. What is funny about this is we
- 30:08are what, 11 games into the season and now you're firing
- 30:12him? How does that make sense if I
- 30:15was? If you're going to do it that
- 30:16quick, why? Like what?
- 30:18What were they waiting for? They waiting for an excuse like
- 30:21it doesn't make sense at all. I think because, and I'm I'm
- 30:25going to go at this and I understand what Fish is saying.
- 30:28Well, Cooper Flex played a little bit better.
- 30:31Cooper Flake is still a young player and even though it's
- 30:35going to take a little while for him to develop, there's not
- 30:38enough players giving him the ball.
- 30:39He does. He's he's playing the point
- 30:41forward. He's bringing the ball up and
- 30:43down the court, which he did in the NCAA and we saw what he did
- 30:47in the tournament. He is not a point forward.
- 30:50He is not Luka Doncic. He doesn't have that kind of
- 30:53ability. He's not really that he doesn't
- 30:56ball handle. That's one of the weakest parts
- 30:58of Cooper flags game. He's not a bad ball handler when
- 31:02you look at the Harrison and what he did last year and where
- 31:07this team completely fell after the Luka Tanti trade.
- 31:12The Mavericks should have just got rid of him before the season
- 31:14started. Start over and then decide if
- 31:17you're going to keep Jason Kidd because I know the Knicks wanted
- 31:20to interview Jason Kidd and The Mavericks would not allow them
- 31:22to. The Knicks wanted to interview
- 31:27Jason Kidd and The Mavericks said no.
- 31:30And then I remember Jason Kidd wanted that extension and it
- 31:34took practically all offseason for him to get that extension.
- 31:39And he only got that extension because they got the number one
- 31:42pick and he wanted to stay there to Coach Cooper Flag.
- 31:45If they never got that number one pick, I think, I think kid
- 31:49would have forced his way out. I really do believe that.
- 31:53I just think there's a lot with this, this failure of AGM and,
- 32:00and, and in this organization that's trying to figure out who
- 32:04they are, what their identity or what their identity is going to
- 32:07be when Kyrie Irving comes back. I mean, and now you're hearing,
- 32:11I'm, I'm reading things that's now with the new GM and Mark
- 32:16Cuban might be buying back the team.
- 32:19Now there is a story coming out that Mark Cuban might buy his
- 32:25shares back from DuMont and that ownership because they're not
- 32:29getting a casino. There is nothing that has been
- 32:32approved and they thought by trading Luka Doncic and doing
- 32:36the stuff that they did that was going to bring something to to
- 32:41Dallas, which it hasn't done. So maybe The Mavericks and the
- 32:46organization gets lucky and and maybe Mark Cuban is probably
- 32:49shaking his head and probably wondering why he did sell his
- 32:52shares to DuMont and that ownership because it's ruined
- 32:56this organization. It's it's shake up, it's shaked
- 32:58up this organization. Dirk Nowitzki said something
- 33:02recently about the organization. He says that I believe in the
- 33:07organization that I play for. I don't believe in this
- 33:10organization. Think about that.
- 33:13Your best player that's ever played for your organization,
- 33:17use your best, comes out and says something like that.
- 33:21That's got to worry you. And maybe that's what pushed
- 33:25Nico Harrison out is it's not just him.
- 33:28Steve Nash, I think was drafted by The Mavericks.
- 33:33Steve Nash has been on a show tons of times with LeBron,
- 33:36LeBron James and said, what the hell was this organization
- 33:41thinking trading away Luka Dodge.
- 33:44Can you see LeBron smiling? Well, what did he say?
- 33:47Something treasure. Another man's trash is another
- 33:50treasure. That's right.
- 33:51Another, another, another, another man's trash is another
- 33:55team's treasure. Something that he said on his
- 33:57show. And, and I'm we're talking about
- 33:59Luka Dodgek, a top five player in the league, and, and LeBron
- 34:04smiling and smirking because Steve Nash is making jokes
- 34:08saying what the what the F And they curse on the show.
- 34:12So what the F is this organization doing?
- 34:16And what did this organization do to let this man trade
- 34:19arguably one of the top three players in the league to the
- 34:23Lakers? Makes no sense.
- 34:24And everyone knew it at the time.
- 34:26Like, OK, Nico Harrison, you want to make excuses?
- 34:29Oh, Luka Doncic has troubles with conditioning.
- 34:32Yes, Luka Doncic had some injury issues.
- 34:34Yes, he had some cramping issues that were uncharacteristic of
- 34:37him or the early stages of his career.
- 34:39That could be a lot of NBA players.
- 34:42You don't think NBA players load manage for cramping purposes or
- 34:46just stamina purposes, especially older ones throughout
- 34:49the year? That was your reasoning for
- 34:51hiding trading Nico Harris in addition to drinking beers in
- 34:54the offseason for whatever reason?
- 34:56Yeah, that's your basis on this. Let's say you bring instead
- 34:59Anthony Davis, who the first game that he plays in a Dallas
- 35:02Mavericks uniform goes down with injury, does not play again for
- 35:05the rest of the year. Now 5 of 11 games this year he's
- 35:09played and you're going to justify that as a part of a
- 35:12trade? I don't even care that you got
- 35:14the number one pick and got Cooper flag because as Errol has
- 35:16mentioned many times, that is a result of the LJA.
- 35:19Not a good GM actually drafting a number one pick, a
- 35:22generational talent supposedly that fell into your lap.
- 35:25You do not deserve credit for that.
- 35:27And by the way, like you're saying, he's been a bit
- 35:29underperforming so far this year for a number one pick.
- 35:32I know he came out on his show. I I skimmed through podcasts and
- 35:36I listen to certain shows because I want to hear their
- 35:38take. Nico Harrison obviously getting
- 35:41fired. It's been a big conversation on
- 35:43podcast. Some I liked most of them I
- 35:46didn't, but Steve Nash and and LeBron James, LeBron James, the
- 35:52fact that they were talking about it and LeBron just
- 35:54smirking and really not saying much of it about it is pretty
- 35:57funny. Well, yeah, you're going to
- 35:59cover up anything that says all right.
- 36:01Oh, I I didn't have anything to do with this.
- 36:03Oh, I didn't want to orchestrate it.
- 36:04Maybe we heard GM LeBron for decades do whatever he wants.
- 36:07Now never show the player of Luka Doncic's caliber, but he
- 36:11did the decision. He did him and Dwyane Wade team
- 36:13never in Miami. Chris got Chris Bosh over there.
- 36:15I think Luka Doncic probably a better player than Chris Bosh
- 36:17will, but Chris Bosh is probably a future Hall of Famer.
- 36:19So you're looking at a case where LeBron based on that track
- 36:23record, is it going to have a argument to say, oh, I didn't
- 36:25have anything to do with it. I if I were the Lakers, I just
- 36:28tired Nico Harrison. I mean, seriously, he does this
- 36:31sort of a complimentary about it role in the team.
- 36:33If I'm with the Lakers right now, I'd say you know what?
- 36:35Let's bring him he. Could be a part of our executive
- 36:38panel if that's a branded position for him.
- 36:40He just gave us Luca Dodgic for practically a bag of balls.
- 36:43Why? Why not?
- 36:44Let's hook him up. I mean, with the NBA, look into
- 36:47that. I mean, they're looking at
- 36:49everything else or they're not looking into enough as Adam
- 36:52Silver finally opened up his goddamn eyes with Chauncey
- 36:55Billups and Terry Rozier and and Mr. Jones.
- 36:58So, I mean, I, I just think that the NBA is just, they're blind.
- 37:04Ever since David Stern has stepped down, this is an
- 37:08organization that's trying to find its way back up again.
- 37:11And and the league is run by the players and I make a joke.
- 37:15It's the LJA. But it, it, it's, it's bad.
- 37:18And, and it, and it really starts to it, it starts to pile
- 37:22up. And, and when you watch the All
- 37:24Star games now they're trying to find ways how to make the All
- 37:26Star games even more fun to watch.
- 37:28And good luck, nobody. Cares.
- 37:30They're making it worse. Yeah, nobody cares anymore.
- 37:34I I just think it's sad because the NBA, the All Star weekend
- 37:38was always something. Everybody was looking forward to
- 37:41the slam dunk contest, but nobody wants to go into the dunk
- 37:43contest because nobody wants to get.
- 37:45Hurt. You know LeBron James and, and,
- 37:48and even a three-point contest and we all know Steph Curry and,
- 37:52and now they're bringing some of the women, the great shooters in
- 37:54the WNBA to play and and compete with the men.
- 37:58And it's great. It really, really is great.
- 38:00Is it drawing people to want to watch?
- 38:04And the answer is no. But everybody's going to say
- 38:06hey, wait, but sponsorships are up, advertisements are up,
- 38:11people are watching. It's on ESPN.
- 38:14They have a multi billion dollar deal, multi trillion dollar
- 38:18deal. Is it really as bad as everybody
- 38:22makes it seem to be? And the answer is yes.
- 38:26When I go to a, when I go to a basketball game.
- 38:29And I'm wondering if Jalen Brunson's going to play because,
- 38:33hey, his pinky is hurting him and he's not going to, he's not
- 38:36going to play in this particular game.
- 38:37And I'm not going to see Josh Hart because his back is hurting
- 38:40him. And I'm, I'm spending $300 a
- 38:43ticket to watch these guys play a basketball game.
- 38:46Yeah, it would piss me off if I'm buying these tickets for me
- 38:49and my girl. I know, I know.
- 38:55It's just, and that's tough. You see those signs with like
- 38:57kids, you know that literally like we drove X amount of miles
- 39:01or whatever. Yeah, it's definitely changed.
- 39:04But I I would like to know, and I know it's probably different
- 39:08from organizations like truly, genuinely what is obviously
- 39:13there's probably not a resume of what the GM is, but I would kind
- 39:17of like to know like the outline of the OR the parameters of like
- 39:22what actually is the GM role as far as communication is as far
- 39:26as trades talks like involvement with the team and what have you
- 39:30like it. It would be interesting to see
- 39:33and I doubt anybody would like ever let anybody in to see like
- 39:36no, because you. Don't feel the player power of
- 39:38the NBA. Yeah.
- 39:40I, it's, I just, it's just so different because you see so
- 39:44much, I guess difference of what that role like looks like from,
- 39:49from on the outside. Think about this, Joppa.
- 39:51Think about this. The New York Knicks, OK, they,
- 39:55they brought in Leon Rose, right?
- 39:57Leon Rose brought AGM. He brought.
- 40:01He brought his old, his old, you know, Band of Brothers, OK?
- 40:06And Leon Rose is the guy that you got to go to the the close
- 40:10out of deal, but he's not the GM Everybody gives Leon Rose all
- 40:13the credit in the world because he's the one that made the move
- 40:16for Jalen Bronson. All these guys.
- 40:18He didn't make any of those moves.
- 40:20He's not the GM of the team. He is the president of the New
- 40:24York Knicks. He hired those guys under him to
- 40:28make those moves, the basketball operations.
- 40:30But Leon Rose is the face of the New York Knicks in the executive
- 40:34corps of guys that he brought in worldwide.
- 40:36W is there and he's one of the smartest and and educated
- 40:40basketball minds the NBA has ever seen.
- 40:43Why? Because Leon Rose wanted him to
- 40:46be his, his guy, the guy that's going to give him the whisper.
- 40:50Anybody watch the Knick games and you see Leon Rose was on the
- 40:52side. Who's he sitting next to?
- 40:53Speedy. Worldwide West.
- 40:54Worldwide West. Why?
- 40:57Because he's the one that's giving Leon Rose all the
- 41:00information, showing him what he sees, finding ways and finding
- 41:05guys that would fit the culture of this roster and this team to
- 41:09be a championship contending team.
- 41:11That's the same thing with Jerry West.
- 41:13Everybody asks why. Why was Jerry West so smart?
- 41:15Why was he so good at building teams?
- 41:18Here's the reason why Jerry West was so smart and so good.
- 41:21He worked under some of the smartest people of all time.
- 41:26And then when, yeah, 100%. The Lakers organization, all the
- 41:31people that he's put himself around over the years and the
- 41:34guys, when he grew up, when he got the GM job years and years
- 41:38before by bus and doctor, Buss said, I'm giving you the GM
- 41:42after he retired, you're going to be the GM of the Lakers.
- 41:45And then he stepped down and then he came back again.
- 41:46He stepped down. He came back again.
- 41:49Jerry West was a genius because he understood the game, because
- 41:53he was a great player. Not every great player
- 41:56understands the game. As a matter of fact, Michael
- 41:58Jordan is one of the worst executives we've ever seen.
- 42:02OK, he drafted Kwame Brown. Does anybody remember him?
- 42:06No, because nobody gives a shit about Kwame Brown.
- 42:09If I make the next executives look good, I mean, seriously,
- 42:12it's probably one of the worst picks I've ever seen.
- 42:16An owner, GM, whatever you're going to call him.
- 42:18When he was running that organization, it was horrible.
- 42:22Kwame Brown was one of the worst high school player.
- 42:24Everybody thought this guy was the next big thing.
- 42:26Michael Jordan swore upon him. Well, he was wrong.
- 42:30It set the team back for 10 years.
- 42:32It doesn't always work. Michael Jordan is the greatest
- 42:34mind, greatest basketball mind we've ever seen on a basketball
- 42:37court. It doesn't always work together.
- 42:40Jerry West, let's go look at Jerry West and look what Jerry
- 42:43West brought in. Kobe Bryant.
- 42:45He was the one that made the trade to bring it signing that
- 42:49brought Shaquille O'Neal in. We could go on and on and on.
- 42:52He built that whole team, that whole team.
- 42:55And then after the fact, after Shaquille was moved, he was the
- 42:59one that made that move for Pau Gasol.
- 43:01He was the one that tried to make that move for Chris Paul
- 43:04and all the other guys Metta World Peace.
- 43:07He was the one who put that team together.
- 43:10He was the one, he was the mastermind of those teams.
- 43:14So it's so interesting and and again, the Luka Doncic story is
- 43:20always going to be one that'll stick out from all the rest.
- 43:24And it's going to be a stamp of approval by Nico Harrison.
- 43:28And that's why everybody, everybody is talking about this
- 43:33firing. I got to give everybody.
- 43:35A little bit more credit than they they get on the show.
- 43:38I, I think the content in the creating of the content is is
- 43:43very unique. I don't think there's anybody in
- 43:45this industry that does what we do and, and the way we kind of
- 43:48present our content for all the fans to tune in and look at even
- 43:52check out some of the stories that we post on our website.
- 43:54I think it's pretty incredible what we're doing right now and I
- 44:00think we are changing certain parts of this industry and I
- 44:04remember. There's a million.
- 44:05Podcasts out there, but. I think there's stuff that we're
- 44:08doing that is changing the game, and I think if anybody hasn't
- 44:12seen it or hasn't checked out the product that we put out
- 44:15there every single week, well, shame on you.
- 44:18Stop, You know, making love to Rick Dipietro's jersey and come
- 44:22to the dark side. That's all I'm going to say.
- 44:24Yeah, that's it. Thank you to our our very
- 44:28special guest, Logan Morrison for joining us.
- 44:31He was sensational first time on a show, very strong personality.
- 44:36I like it and very sure of himself and I right off the bat
