- 2:13Speaker 1: partner of a bird enthusiast for a birding competition, but
- 2:17Speaker 1: mis understands the assitement and tells everyone she's his new

- 2:36Speaker 1: Did you enjoy I did. Would I like it? Or

- 4:03Speaker 1: I had forgotten that she was in that she's one
- 4:05Speaker 1: of the Santas. Yeah, I had forgotten that too, But
- 4:08Speaker 1: I can picture her now. Yeah that hair at curly, Yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 1: that's right here she has. Jason Trimpley plays Las Low.
- 4:15Speaker 1: He appeared in a Maple Valley Christmas and Curious Caterer
- 4:19Speaker 1: Dying for Chocolate both Sorry. Andrew Walker Wapuana Maria plays

- 4:55Speaker 1: As soon as I saw him on TV, I was like, Okay,
- 4:57Speaker 1: I've seen him in something, but I can't put my
- 5:01Speaker 1: finger on it. Emma Peterson and Lydia Campbell play Celeste's
- 5:05Speaker 1: co workers. Both have appeared in many Hallmark movies like
- 5:08Speaker 1: Wedding of a Lifetime and A Sprinkle of Deceit, A
- 5:11Speaker 1: Hannah Swinson Mystery, respectably. Adventures in Love and Birding was
- 5:15Speaker 1: filmed in Vancouver. We're going to take a quick break
- 5:18Speaker 1: and come right back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy,
- 5:29Speaker 1: what was your first impression of Adventures in Love and Birding.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I didn't expect a birding rom com to make me emotional,
- 5:36Speaker 1: but the minute the slow version of Why Do Fools
- 5:38Speaker 1: Fall In Love? Started, I was like, well, I guess
- 5:41Speaker 1: I'm crying over some birdwatchers. My first impression is no
- 5:45Speaker 1: wood chopsy needed. If you know you know this movie
- 5:48Speaker 1: delivered the heat Uh, let's talk about it. Let's talk
- 5:53Speaker 1: about it. Let's talk that scene Andrew takes off his shirt.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Uh yeah, I mean I think that's the most like
- 6:01Speaker 1: obvious heat worthy scene. I feel like, oh, I strongly
- 6:07Speaker 1: just oh no, no, I have I That's what I'm saying.
- 6:10Speaker 1: That's the most obvious. Like sure, I love that scene.
- 6:14Speaker 1: The look on Rachel slash Celeste face, she is all
- 6:17Speaker 1: of us. You need to add this moment to our
- 6:18Speaker 1: shirtless Metal Hallmark compilation. Real, that's fun. I think I
- 6:23Speaker 1: might have to work on that this afternoon. We have
- 6:26Speaker 1: a whole episode where we put ourselves on blast for
- 6:30Speaker 1: all the times we have called out the shirtless metal Hallmark.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I don't even remember. I just feel like that's just
- 6:35Speaker 1: part of our it's a listener mail bag. Oh, I'll
- 6:38Speaker 1: find it for you to link in the show notes.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Oh that's right now, I remember, because it's always like
- 6:44Speaker 1: like dory, like it's like a I forget that we
- 6:47Speaker 1: talk about these things and then like, yeah, I didn't
- 6:49Speaker 1: like a listener mail bag like put us on blast
- 6:52Speaker 1: about we put ourselves on blast. We talked about how
- 6:55Speaker 1: oh there's never any shirtless like oh shirtless Andrew Walker
- 6:57Speaker 1: and then everyone was like, girls, this is not the
- 6:59Speaker 1: first and then I dug into our archives and in fact,
- 7:03Speaker 1: not only was it not the first time, but we
- 7:04Speaker 1: call it out every single time we see it. Sorry.
- 7:09Speaker 1: In fact, notably I said take your shirt off, Stephen,
- 7:11Speaker 1: who's our in an episode. But yet these two fire
- 7:16Speaker 1: your chemistry. Rachel Boston and Andrew Walker. I had to
- 7:19Speaker 1: tell you, both of them have real strong Golden retriever
- 7:21Speaker 1: energy and I was not expecting them to bring the
- 7:24Speaker 1: heat the way that they did in this movie, and
- 7:28Speaker 1: boy did they deliver. That's a good point. This movie
- 7:31Speaker 1: is based on the book that is mildly spicy, and
- 7:33Speaker 1: I the book, as we noted in our news and notes,
- 7:36Speaker 1: is called Birding with Benefits, which has a strong implication there,
- 7:43Speaker 1: and they do lean into the with benefits. That's an
- 7:45Speaker 1: intentional choice that they make in the book. So I
- 7:49Speaker 1: wondered how this was going to play on homework, and
- 7:52Speaker 1: I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the
- 7:54Speaker 1: way they feel like they brought the heat in a
- 7:57Speaker 1: Hallmark appropriate way and delivered that message. I agree with
- 8:03Speaker 1: you the Bowling Alley scene. Loved the Bowling Alleys. Yeah, okay, wait,
- 8:10Speaker 1: let me just back it up. Okay, but you're right,
- 8:12Speaker 1: You're right. The Bowling Alley scene was great. I agree.
- 8:16Speaker 1: These two were great together. They've never been in a
- 8:18Speaker 1: movie together, right, Actually, they have been in a movie together.
- 8:21Speaker 1: It's coming later, Okay, Okay. I liked him. You know,
- 8:26Speaker 1: Rachel Boston wasn't fully like on my radar and till
- 8:30Speaker 1: maybe when we watched Dating the Delaneys. Yeah. Oh, and
- 8:34Speaker 1: she was fantastic on finding mister Christmas. I liked her
- 8:38Speaker 1: a lot. I like them a lot in this. What
- 8:41Speaker 1: I also liked is that they have like this grown
- 8:43Speaker 1: up relationship mm hmm. I wasn't like a couple of
- 8:47Speaker 1: like twenty year olds even like early thirty year olds
- 8:50Speaker 1: like being messy, like. It felt very mature and I
- 8:54Speaker 1: enjoyed that quite a bit. I love that, Yes, she
- 8:58Speaker 1: has an ex husband in this, but like we never
- 9:00Speaker 1: saw him, he was never part of like the equation
- 9:03Speaker 1: at all, which feels very realistic. Yeah, loved that. Can
- 9:09Speaker 1: I just say that I loved I didn't know how
- 9:12Speaker 1: I would play, but I did love bird Watching as
- 9:15Speaker 1: the backdrop to this. It was so well done. I
- 9:18Speaker 1: thought it was really well done. I thought it was
- 9:22Speaker 1: quirky enough, totally fun and fresh storyline, not too far
- 9:26Speaker 1: out there or like, cause who hates birds? I know
- 9:28Speaker 1: there's people who are afraid of birds, yes, like maybe,
- 9:32Speaker 1: but me, like I do enjoy like a good I
- 9:35Speaker 1: wouldn't call myself a bird watcher, but I do. Like
- 9:38Speaker 1: there's a reason the bird buddy is such a viral sensation.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I have one in my backyard. I know, you know
- 9:44Speaker 1: it's in fact, my mom gave one as a gift
- 9:47Speaker 1: last year and they were back ordered, and they sent
- 9:50Speaker 1: my mom a basically cardboard bird house that she could
- 9:55Speaker 1: build and give as the gift, and she did build it.
- 9:58Speaker 1: It was really cute, like a like a cutout that
- 10:01Speaker 1: you just like pop together. And she did build it
- 10:04Speaker 1: and give it as a gift and let them know,
- 10:06Speaker 1: like it's on the way, but they're back ordered. You
- 10:08Speaker 1: need what pray your backyard here? I think I would
- 10:10Speaker 1: really like one. My parents have two cats that catch birds.
- 10:14Speaker 1: They're like, we cannot have a bird buddy. We cannot
- 10:15Speaker 1: entice the birds to our house. Yeah, but I would
- 10:18Speaker 1: like a bird buddy. Maybe I'll put it on my
- 10:20Speaker 1: Christmas list. It's really quite fun. I would love watching
- 10:23Speaker 1: it I love it. I would be that person to'd
- 10:26Speaker 1: be like, look at the new bird who came to
- 10:28Speaker 1: my backyard. I have a Instagram highlight reel of the
- 10:31Speaker 1: birds that are in my backyard. I mean it's funny
- 10:34Speaker 1: because if you're not familiar with the bird buddy is
- 10:36Speaker 1: it's a it's a bird house that has a camera
- 10:39Speaker 1: in it, and then you feel it the bird house
- 10:41Speaker 1: with seed and then the birds come and eat and
- 10:43Speaker 1: then they're sitting right in front of the camera and
- 10:45Speaker 1: they're just like and you get like repeat bird visitors
- 10:47Speaker 1: sometimes yeah, and then so they send you you could
- 10:49Speaker 1: watch like a live stream of it, or they'll send
- 10:51Speaker 1: you like clips like throughout the day, so like at
- 10:54Speaker 1: the end of the day, I'll get like, look who
- 10:56Speaker 1: visited your bird buddy today. It's like that, and then
- 10:58Speaker 1: they name the birds. So it's usually like AI is
- 11:01Speaker 1: like identifying like the burden. It'll be like the house
- 11:04Speaker 1: finch came or the pigeon or the whatever. And it's
- 11:08Speaker 1: like you can sometimes see like the same ones returning
- 11:10Speaker 1: every single day, and then other times it's do you
- 11:12Speaker 1: have it on a window? No? No, I don't know
- 11:15Speaker 1: where I would hang it. Hang it. We installed Okay,
- 11:18Speaker 1: So we had to set at my old house and
- 11:20Speaker 1: we had we had a wood fence that we had
- 11:21Speaker 1: installed it on. Here. You can't because you have a
- 11:24Speaker 1: black wall situation, can't you get one of those posts
- 11:26Speaker 1: that you like stake into the garden and hang it
- 11:28Speaker 1: from that at our current house. Like, so we installed
- 11:30Speaker 1: the post and then because that's what I had to
- 11:32Speaker 1: do with my backyard ring camera that's so like obtrusive
- 11:34Speaker 1: in my Yeah, we didn't. Yeah, there was no where
- 11:37Speaker 1: to mount it. Ours is like a wood post that
- 11:40Speaker 1: we like then drilled the bird buddy in nice and
- 11:42Speaker 1: I just love it and I can see it from
- 11:44Speaker 1: like my window inside the house. And then like you
- 11:48Speaker 1: can position like this is not an ad Ford bird buddy,
- 11:50Speaker 1: but if they want to call us, but you can
- 11:52Speaker 1: position the house or the like the camera so like
- 11:58Speaker 1: sometimes I don't want to like looking at like the
- 12:00Speaker 1: side of my house, which is like boring, like if
- 12:02Speaker 1: I want to position it to like a better view,
- 12:04Speaker 1: I don't know. I just love it so much. It's
- 12:06Speaker 1: so much fun. I think I would really enjoy a
- 12:09Speaker 1: bird buddy. And I agree with you. I thought the
- 12:12Speaker 1: birding it gave them a lot to do on screen.
- 12:14Speaker 1: It gave them a purpose out in the world beautiful
- 12:17Speaker 1: filming locations when they were walking through parks and bird watching,
- 12:21Speaker 1: and I actually thought that the well, I have two
- 12:25Speaker 1: things to say. One, they did a birding montage, a
- 12:27Speaker 1: bird watching montage, and they put the bird names on screen.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I loved that. I thought that was great. I also
- 12:32Speaker 1: thought that when they had shots of birds, they made
- 12:37Speaker 1: it not look like obvious be roll when it was
- 12:40Speaker 1: very obviously b roll. It didn't feel like we're cutting
- 12:44Speaker 1: away to a weird It was well done. Yeah, I
- 12:47Speaker 1: thought so too. I thought so too. Here are a
- 12:50Speaker 1: couple things that I really liked. I liked They're so
- 12:53Speaker 1: silly too. Celeste shopping spree. Like when she's like, oh,
- 12:57Speaker 1: all my stuff came, how in a birding gear like Amazon.
- 13:01Speaker 1: She just opened the box. It was like a vest
- 13:03Speaker 1: and a bucket hat and binoculars. Yes, she just ordered
- 13:05Speaker 1: all that shit from Amazon. I just thought it was
- 13:07Speaker 1: so fun. She's like, oh, that book is on its
- 13:08Speaker 1: way to me, and she has her like don't bother me,
- 13:11Speaker 1: I'm birding shirt. Loved it, loved it. Thought that was
- 13:14Speaker 1: really funny. Yeah, fun little like gag. And then then
- 13:17Speaker 1: she buys one for John. Real cute. Yes, I loved it. Yeah.
- 13:22Speaker 1: And then back to that scene where he puts a
- 13:24Speaker 1: shirt on. Yes, it was just so great where Rachel
- 13:27Speaker 1: Watson like just looks at him like she's like sneaking
- 13:30Speaker 1: the peak of him, like shirtless. I was like, okay,
- 13:32Speaker 1: I'm into it when they first all Trivia night, I'm
- 13:36Speaker 1: gonna talk about it in a second. But like when
- 13:38Speaker 1: they show up and she's like in neutrals, like she
- 13:40Speaker 1: rolls in like she's like, I'm just gonna you know,
- 13:41Speaker 1: it's like a sneak attack, right, and he's wearing the
- 13:44Speaker 1: purple shirt and they have this whole conversation about it
- 13:46Speaker 1: so great, I'm attracting a mate. And then it circles
- 13:50Speaker 1: back to the end of the date, like she references
- 13:52Speaker 1: it again like that you're glad you wore that shirt
- 13:55Speaker 1: now or like whatever. I just thought it was so good,
- 13:57Speaker 1: so so good the trivia night. I live for a
- 14:00Speaker 1: good competition. This is how you do trivia. Yes, talked
- 14:04Speaker 1: about it. I don't remember what movie it was, but
- 14:06Speaker 1: he loves fall in Order. Yeah, this is how you
- 14:08Speaker 1: do tribute though. It was funny, like the pace was
- 14:15Speaker 1: real fast in the trivia and she's like typing in
- 14:17Speaker 1: the answers to her thing, and then like the lady's
- 14:19Speaker 1: literally reading the answer like as she's typing. I was like,
- 14:22Speaker 1: slow it down here in a second. But that's a
- 14:24Speaker 1: me issue. But I loved all that. The dancing scene
- 14:28Speaker 1: when they're at the party and he's like, yeah, I
- 14:30Speaker 1: know how to dance, and he was like, let's do
- 14:33Speaker 1: the electric slide and they both go into it. Fun,
- 14:38Speaker 1: They're so fun fun. Me. I just was like cringing
- 14:42Speaker 1: a little, like, oh, I know, I I'm just cringing
- 14:46Speaker 1: as a viewer because I was like, I don't want
- 14:47Speaker 1: to see them like dance fast to slow music. But
- 14:52Speaker 1: like this whole thing worked with the electric slide and
- 14:55Speaker 1: he was like, oh I got moves or I don't
- 14:57Speaker 1: know whatever it was. And then it goes into the
- 14:58Speaker 1: slow song and this is I get all teary because
- 15:01Speaker 1: it's like why do birds whatever it's at, why do
- 15:05Speaker 1: fools fall in love? But that was a great version
- 15:07Speaker 1: of that song. It was a great version. I love it.
- 15:10Speaker 1: I loved it. I do have some problems with that scene. Oh,
- 15:14Speaker 1: interesting to talk about it in the Wishes, But I
- 15:16Speaker 1: loved I loved all that, like we got some hair tucking,
- 15:20Speaker 1: which is like, that's all you gotta do, and we've
- 15:22Speaker 1: been saying it for a whole year, Like, if you're
- 15:25Speaker 1: gonna shoot your shot, all you gotta do is just
- 15:27Speaker 1: move that hair out right. Girl's face, guy's face, whatever,
- 15:32Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. There's one scene too where he like
- 15:34Speaker 1: grabs her hand like when they're there when they're birding,
- 15:38Speaker 1: very early on in their relationship. Real cute, good stuff,
- 15:40Speaker 1: good stuff. And the final thing that I really really
- 15:43Speaker 1: loved this is probably just a me thing because it
- 15:46Speaker 1: was so relatable, but the god her going off to
- 15:49Speaker 1: the yes and Celeste is like, yeah, I'm just trying
- 15:52Speaker 1: to figure out like who I am now? And yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I was like, man, that like hit me right in
- 15:59Speaker 1: the totally yeah good, Yeah, I agree, And you hit
- 16:04Speaker 1: all the notes that I loved. In addition to her
- 16:07Speaker 1: dealing with a kid going off to college, as my
- 16:08Speaker 1: own college kid was home for the first time this weekend,
- 16:11Speaker 1: I like that she's telling stories of women we can
- 16:14Speaker 1: relate to. She's a divorced mom child going to college.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Her child is making different choices than she had expected
- 16:21Speaker 1: her too, which is really interesting and Wenny and I
- 16:24Speaker 1: were just talking about how that's not in our control anymore.
- 16:28Speaker 1: They're going to make their own life choices really small like,
- 16:31Speaker 1: but I love celeste wardrobe, starting with her butter yellow
- 16:35Speaker 1: blazer up top, ending with like that burnt orange, real
- 16:38Speaker 1: cute dress she wore at the end. Really enjoyed what
- 16:42Speaker 1: she was wearing. I like that she wore too. To
- 16:44Speaker 1: the post, Oh me too, the pleated skirt. Cute, cute, cute.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Let's not wishes? Well, okay, I do have a few,
- 16:53Speaker 1: not many, but I did think kind of the some
- 16:56Speaker 1: of the supporting cast is a little unlikable. Oh I'm
- 17:00Speaker 1: looking at you the two teachers. My wishes say, there
- 17:03Speaker 1: are some true villains in this movie. Yeah, so tell
- 17:07Speaker 1: me about this because is the in the book? Are
- 17:10Speaker 1: the coworker not the coworkers? But like these other side
- 17:13Speaker 1: characters do they have a bigger role. I think they're
- 17:17Speaker 1: the same, but they're just as unlikable. It's the same
- 17:20Speaker 1: thing where she feels compelled to keep up the fake
- 17:25Speaker 1: dating side of things because her coworkers are like pitying
- 17:28Speaker 1: her and constantly trying to set her up. I hated
- 17:31Speaker 1: that storyline, like I appreciate that. She finally tells them
- 17:35Speaker 1: to mind their own damn business at the end, but like,
- 17:38Speaker 1: what are we doing this woman who clearly has a
- 17:40Speaker 1: full life. She loves her job, she loves her daughter. Okay,
- 17:44Speaker 1: so she's divorced. Leave her alone. Like what. I hated
- 17:47Speaker 1: their meddling and pushiness and they're like like the wicked
- 17:52Speaker 1: stepsisters looking over her shoulder. And she finally brings some
- 17:56Speaker 1: guy and like, well, he's she's more into him than
- 17:58Speaker 1: he is to her. Oh oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that
- 18:01Speaker 1: whole scene at the bowling alley. Yeah, gross. I just
- 18:03Speaker 1: didn't like them, but that scene was great. Thought how
- 18:07Speaker 1: John overhears it and he's like, oh comes to her rescue. Yeah,
- 18:10Speaker 1: hold my beer? So good. And Brina is also terrible.
- 18:15Speaker 1: She's terrible in the book as well. She's a villain,
- 18:17Speaker 1: super unlikable. She has the audacity to be the cheater
- 18:21Speaker 1: and then also be judging John's life choices. Yeah, it
- 18:25Speaker 1: goes a little deeper in the book because in the book,
- 18:29Speaker 1: John's kind of semi unemployed. He doesn't have this conservation
- 18:33Speaker 1: job and he's a talented woodworker but really wants to
- 18:37Speaker 1: start his own bird watching business as does this guy
- 18:40Speaker 1: brooding for beginners and she doesn't really support that. It's brien,
- 18:44Speaker 1: it's not big enough for her, And so he had
- 18:47Speaker 1: kind of been beaten down by that and didn't feel
- 18:49Speaker 1: like it was a worthy enough dream or that he
- 18:53Speaker 1: had the ability to get it off the ground. So
- 18:55Speaker 1: I think that's important context here because to me, the
- 18:59Speaker 1: movie read like, Okay, he has like this stable job,
- 19:02Speaker 1: but he didn't reach this like level of like academia
- 19:06Speaker 1: that like Grena wanted him to, and then therefore ended
- 19:10Speaker 1: up kind of like in a place where like he
- 19:12Speaker 1: wasn't like super happy. And I get that he wanted
- 19:14Speaker 1: to have this birding business, but also I didn't really
- 19:19Speaker 1: understand like why I had to be like this all
- 19:20Speaker 1: or nothing, this like dire situation. Like to me, you
- 19:24Speaker 1: could have this side hustle birding business on the weekend,
- 19:26Speaker 1: like yeah, just to get it off the ground and
- 19:29Speaker 1: then it get ruined to something else and great, But
- 19:31Speaker 1: it's not like I have to quit my job so
- 19:34Speaker 1: I can launch this business. Well yeah, And they're like
- 19:36Speaker 1: you need money to launch your own birding business. No,
- 19:39Speaker 1: you don't like create an Instagram account and be like
- 19:43Speaker 1: let's do a free bird washing session for publicity and
- 19:47Speaker 1: get people talking like you're doing it anyway, right, Yeah,
- 19:51Speaker 1: that felt a little flat for me that point. Yeah.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Also back to the coworkers. Loved Celes bestI avas she
- 20:00Speaker 1: was great. I thought she was like fun. They had
- 20:04Speaker 1: great like dynamic and banter between each other. I loved
- 20:07Speaker 1: all that. But the two teachers, the two other teachers, well,
- 20:11Speaker 1: was she a teacher. Yeah, she was a teacher at
- 20:13Speaker 1: the school there. That's my idea. One part of me
- 20:17Speaker 1: is like, I I get they have this big moment,
- 20:20Speaker 1: so less tells that one like yo, like stfu about
- 20:25Speaker 1: the like gossipine and like whatever. But then also I
- 20:28Speaker 1: felt like I didn't need like this whole teachable moment. Mmm.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I just was like it the payoff like wasn't as great.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I wish it would have been. I think I think
- 20:39Speaker 1: the scene where John overhears them and then like basically
- 20:43Speaker 1: at the bowling alley like would have been enough. Like yeah,
- 20:46Speaker 1: I agree, but they just wouldn't butt out, And I
- 20:49Speaker 1: feel like she needed the moment to be like back
- 20:53Speaker 1: because they didn't back off at that point, right, They
- 20:55Speaker 1: just continue to meddle, and I just felt like they
- 20:58Speaker 1: needed someone to say to their faces. This she always
- 21:02Speaker 1: told one of them. So yeah, like it doesn't I mean, whatever,
- 21:07Speaker 1: this is a minor point minor, minor minor the other thing,
- 21:13Speaker 1: Like I love a fake dating trope. I thought this
- 21:16Speaker 1: setup was a little bit clunky, Like I I misunderstood
- 21:20Speaker 1: the assignment. I was like, wait, what's happening here? Maybe
- 21:23Speaker 1: just because like the I'm calling it rules, it wasn't rules,
- 21:27Speaker 1: but the whole setup was a little bit happened so
- 21:31Speaker 1: fast that maybe I just didn't like catch what exactly
- 21:35Speaker 1: they were doing. Like why did the friends set Celeste
- 21:38Speaker 1: up with John? Okay, it might have been a blink
- 21:41Speaker 1: and you miss a moment because I read the book,
- 21:44Speaker 1: it's set up a little bit differently, but basically the
- 21:46Speaker 1: premise is the same. Ava sends Celeste to be John's
- 21:50Speaker 1: bird watching partner. That's all she sends her to do. Yeah,
- 21:54Speaker 1: but Ava's on the phone, Celeste's talking to her, and
- 21:56Speaker 1: Eve's like, and I need to pretend to be his
- 21:58Speaker 1: girlfriend and She's like yes, but she's not talking to
- 22:01Speaker 1: Celeste in that moment. So Celeste misunderstands the assignment. Ce
- 22:04Speaker 1: Less thinks she needs to pretend to be his girlfriend.
- 22:07Speaker 1: When in fact, she just needs to show up and
- 22:09Speaker 1: be his bird watching partner for the weekend. And so
- 22:11Speaker 1: she shows up, sees Brina there because she knows that
- 22:16Speaker 1: he's been dumped, and so she's like, I'm his partner partner,
- 22:19Speaker 1: and so there's this whole misunderstanding at it. And then
- 22:22Speaker 1: they're like, well, now we got to follow through. Okay.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Now this is where it continues to get a little
- 22:28Speaker 1: bit clunky to me. These two are obviously vibing, but
- 22:35Speaker 1: Celeste's running on this assumption that John is still hung
- 22:40Speaker 1: up on Brina, right and that he's not ready to
- 22:45Speaker 1: move on. But these two are obviously getting along. There's
- 22:47Speaker 1: obviously for flirtation, like a mutual attraction, et cetera, et cetera.
- 22:51Speaker 1: They do have like a kiss, multiple yes. So when
- 22:56Speaker 1: we get to the party scene and they have this
- 22:59Speaker 1: slow dam I'm confused. Why Celeste, She's like, I need
- 23:04Speaker 1: it to end, Like I need to stop pretending, because
- 23:07Speaker 1: he says, we've been pretending all along. You have great
- 23:11Speaker 1: communication with this man. I know you've had tons of
- 23:14Speaker 1: moments of vulnerability already. Why can't you in this moment
- 23:18Speaker 1: be like are we pretending? Are we pretending? I kind
- 23:22Speaker 1: of thought. We were like, yeah, I mean, she's bringing
- 23:24Speaker 1: the baggage. They both are carrying as baggage from their
- 23:26Speaker 1: relationship and her they don't spend a lot of time
- 23:28Speaker 1: on it, but in the book they do. Her husband
- 23:31Speaker 1: had an affair, so she's like, doesn't necessarily trust and
- 23:35Speaker 1: she and John have not communicated. Well, yes, they seem
- 23:38Speaker 1: to have great chemistry. Yes, but every kiss they've had
- 23:41Speaker 1: has been performative in her mind. Oh, I see, So
- 23:45Speaker 1: I think perhaps there's this feeling of well, he's never said,
- 23:48Speaker 1: you know, we're just showing up, and you know, they
- 23:50Speaker 1: kissed in front of Brina, and they kissed in front
- 23:52Speaker 1: of her coworkers, and every time they were doing it,
- 23:54Speaker 1: in her mind they were trying to prove a point.
- 23:55Speaker 1: But I agree, rather than walking away, the smart thing
- 23:58Speaker 1: would be like, Okay, are we still pretending we have
- 24:01Speaker 1: a real conversation. Yeah, yeah, yeah. My last wish was
- 24:09Speaker 1: don't build this as a fall movie. This was not
- 24:10Speaker 1: a fall movie. I mean, just because they're walking in
- 24:14Speaker 1: the leaves, it's more fall than some of the other
- 24:16Speaker 1: nonsense we've seen. The time frame in the movie is
- 24:19Speaker 1: the end of the school year, that is spring. The
- 24:23Speaker 1: time frame in the movie is September, like the end
- 24:26Speaker 1: of summer. Yeah it is, it's summer school. That was
- 24:30Speaker 1: summer school, yes, because her daughter's about to go to college. Okay,
- 24:35Speaker 1: oh right, Okay. It makes me feel a little bit
- 24:38Speaker 1: better because at one point I was like, are we
- 24:39Speaker 1: at the end of spring because she's like telling her class,
- 24:43Speaker 1: like prepping them, like I have a great summer. No,
- 24:48Speaker 1: it's summer session. And they say in the movie, but
- 24:49Speaker 1: it's summer sessions. Okay, well they say it like once,
- 24:52Speaker 1: and I okay, then that makes sense. But it's also
- 24:54Speaker 1: not fall if it's August. But still her daughter's about
- 24:57Speaker 1: to go to college. She's like weeks away from moving out. Okay,
- 25:01Speaker 1: it's still not a fall movie. Yeah, the time is weird.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Timing is weird. But I did think the outdoor stuff,
- 25:09Speaker 1: like I thought was very pretty. It's like funny, it's
- 25:11Speaker 1: like a Hallmark's Like, okay, we just like put it
- 25:14Speaker 1: outside then like people might think it's fall, yeah right
- 25:16Speaker 1: where there there are trees and therefore it's fall. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 25:20Speaker 1: yeah yeah. Do you have any more wishes? No, but
- 25:23Speaker 1: let's talk. Did you see that? Okay? I have a
- 25:25Speaker 1: few Okay. At one point they're outside, they're birding, and
- 25:33Speaker 1: there's all this like stuff floating in the air. And
- 25:37Speaker 1: I don't know if it was like post production. It's
- 25:41Speaker 1: not leaves falling right right, but it was just like
- 25:45Speaker 1: stuff like almost like it was like fallen. Maybe it
- 25:49Speaker 1: was bizarre to me. Okay, it was bizarre to me.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I was like, are you trying to make it look
- 25:55Speaker 1: like fall but like these are not like fake. You know,
- 25:57Speaker 1: we just saw a movie where there was like a
- 26:00Speaker 1: digital leave, digital beaf, but this wasn't here. It was
- 26:03Speaker 1: almost like, you know, like in Canva. Canva is like
- 26:06Speaker 1: a design website where it's like a Boca background like
- 26:10Speaker 1: with that like it was like that floating little like
- 26:12Speaker 1: orbs like light. Yes, I don't know. It just was
- 26:15Speaker 1: weird to me. Maybe it was just dusty in the woods.
- 26:17Speaker 1: It could have been. It could have been. Also, was
- 26:21Speaker 1: the owl digital? Like was that? AI? The who the owl?
- 26:26Speaker 1: When they see that? Oh? How the rare species there?
- 26:30Speaker 1: He was I didn't get the impression that any of
- 26:33Speaker 1: that was AI. Did you watch it on your phone
- 26:35Speaker 1: or did you watch it on a big screen TV?
- 26:36Speaker 1: On the TV? I just thought that was like it
- 26:40Speaker 1: restock nature photography. Oh maybe I mean that they weren't
- 26:44Speaker 1: shooting any of these birds in the movie. It was
- 26:46Speaker 1: all nature photography. It looked it was like too polished
- 26:50Speaker 1: to me, a little like I gotta tell you I live.
- 26:56Speaker 1: I have this back road. It's not in the country,
- 26:59Speaker 1: but like this back road, you know the highways I do.
- 27:03Speaker 1: There's always like dead owls. Oh no, oh no, I
- 27:08Speaker 1: don't like that at all. I don't like that at all.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Always see them, Oh no, the saddest, most tragic thing.
- 27:17Speaker 1: We have owls in our neighborhood. I hear them at night.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Who don't you kind of love that? Though? At my
- 27:21Speaker 1: old house, I used to hear this one all the time.
- 27:23Speaker 1: I was like, I don't know where you're out outside. No,
- 27:25Speaker 1: I never see it, but I hear it. We ran
- 27:29Speaker 1: into two coyotes on our walk the other night. What Fortunately,
- 27:33Speaker 1: I just had my big dog with me, and my
- 27:35Speaker 1: big dog's bigger than a coyote. He heard me. We
- 27:38Speaker 1: were walking and this car pulls over and she's like, hey,
- 27:41Speaker 1: there's two coyotes in that park in front of you.
- 27:42Speaker 1: And I look up and sure enough, like you can
- 27:44Speaker 1: see them like their eyes. What was at night, and
- 27:47Speaker 1: I was When I was leaving the house, I was thinking, like,
- 27:51Speaker 1: I don't. I was irritated. I'm like, I don't want
- 27:53Speaker 1: to be walking right now. It's dark. I don't want
- 27:54Speaker 1: to be walking right now. And then we just I
- 27:56Speaker 1: was like, and that's why I don't want to be
- 27:58Speaker 1: walking right now. And then I turned around and came home. Yeah,
- 28:01Speaker 1: what do you do when you I don't know. We
- 28:04Speaker 1: just turned on and walk home. But then I was like,
- 28:07Speaker 1: I don't. I don't like like they're always there to
- 28:10Speaker 1: make loud noises and stuff to scare them off. I mean, yes,
- 28:14Speaker 1: and fortunately one of my dogs is very big, which
- 28:16Speaker 1: I think would help. Yeah, but I don't think they're
- 28:19Speaker 1: gonna But when there's multiples, that's the problem. Yeah, they
- 28:22Speaker 1: surround you like that Spider Man like situation. I can
- 28:26Speaker 1: picture the meme. Yeah, all right, do you have more?
- 28:29Speaker 1: Did to see that? I have one more? On Reddit
- 28:31Speaker 1: this morning and the author of the book was in
- 28:34Speaker 1: the Hallmark Reddit sub thread and wrote about like her
- 28:39Speaker 1: experience having a book made into a movie. She had
- 28:43Speaker 1: like no involvement whatsoever. Interesting, but she did write and
- 28:48Speaker 1: I thought this was interesting. She says, quote by and large.
- 28:51Speaker 1: The birdie was very accurate, except there was a particularly
- 28:54Speaker 1: important misidentified bird. But what can you do. So I'm
- 28:57Speaker 1: guessing in that scene, yere either they were like pointing
- 29:00Speaker 1: out names of certain birds or that scene where they
- 29:03Speaker 1: had the names of the bird on the screen. But
- 29:06Speaker 1: you know, maybe she's an expert in birding. I'm guessing
- 29:09Speaker 1: you have to be. I think she knows quite a
- 29:11Speaker 1: bit about birds. So my digit se that's are not
- 29:13Speaker 1: digit see that's but they're just some things I'd like
- 29:15Speaker 1: to point out. First, Rachel Boston and Andrew Walker did
- 29:18Speaker 1: first appear together in an episode of Er in January
- 29:20Speaker 1: two thousand and eight. They played a military couple and
- 29:24Speaker 1: she is pregnant and it is not his because she
- 29:27Speaker 1: was sexually assaulted. It's a very heavy episode. Years later,
- 29:31Speaker 1: they were in Lifetimes a Christmas in Tennessee. They started
- 29:33Speaker 1: together in that, and then this is the first time
- 29:36Speaker 1: they've been together on Hallmark Channel. So that's fun, super fun.
- 29:42Speaker 1: I enjoyed them me too. I enjoyed them together. Wait,
- 29:45Speaker 1: I have a question, you know, because we get a
- 29:46Speaker 1: lot of like Andrew nicky right, like they work together
- 29:49Speaker 1: a lot. I think it's nice when you mix it
- 29:53Speaker 1: up a little bit. Of course, there's part of me
- 29:55Speaker 1: that like loves to see like two actors that have
- 29:58Speaker 1: great chemistry working. Yeah, but also like I like a
- 30:02Speaker 1: little of course I did too nice casting here one
- 30:06Speaker 1: tiny little moment. I love. You know, Rachel's a teacher.
- 30:09Speaker 1: I love when Andrew tells her she's scaring away the bird.
- 30:12Speaker 1: She's like, oh, quiet, coyote, and like she that's the
- 30:14Speaker 1: fairy teacher thing. And since we're talking a lot about
- 30:17Speaker 1: the book, and we have, we have talked about some
- 30:21Speaker 1: of the differences, just because I feel like it. In
- 30:25Speaker 1: the book, Ava has a baby, she has like a newborn,
- 30:27Speaker 1: and it is a very key component of her character,
- 30:30Speaker 1: like she's struggling with who she is and who her
- 30:32Speaker 1: marriage is and all of this and light of the newborn.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Something had to go in order to make this movie
- 30:38Speaker 1: an hour and twenty minutes. But it kind of did
- 30:41Speaker 1: give Morgan more depth than like more dog parents. Oh interesting,
- 30:45Speaker 1: not Morgan abe excuse me? Yeah, and Morgan her storyline
- 30:49Speaker 1: remains similar, but in the book she gives up on
- 30:52Speaker 1: her planned college, which is not Vau. It's Nau in
- 30:56Speaker 1: the book they actually use a real college name. Yeah, Nau,
- 30:59Speaker 1: which I've heard really crazy things about. Actually have you.
- 31:02Speaker 1: I know nothing about it. But in the book they
- 31:05Speaker 1: live in Arizona. Oh so she's like staying local and
- 31:09Speaker 1: then she moves to her new plan is she's going
- 31:12Speaker 1: to move to LA to live with her girlfriend and
- 31:14Speaker 1: figure out her life there. Oh so it's a much
- 31:17Speaker 1: bigger change as opposed to like, I'm just going to
- 31:19Speaker 1: take the year to figure it out. Yeah. Like as
- 31:23Speaker 1: a parent, I don't know if I would be like yeah.
- 31:26Speaker 1: And it's funny because a lot of the book reviews
- 31:28Speaker 1: are like Celeste is a terrible parent because Lessa is like,
- 31:31Speaker 1: you're not doing that. Like she has a hard time
- 31:33Speaker 1: coming around to like accepting like that she's making this
- 31:36Speaker 1: big life change and people are like, she needs to
- 31:38Speaker 1: apologize to that. O kay, But I can understand Celesa's like,
- 31:41Speaker 1: what do you mean You're just going to move to
- 31:42Speaker 1: LA and figure it out? Who's paying for that? Right?
- 31:44Speaker 1: Not me? Right? I'm a jerk. Hey, what did you write?
- 31:48Speaker 1: Love and Adventures and Birding? I gave it four point
- 31:51Speaker 1: twenty five stars, Thank it four and a half stars. Yeah,
- 31:53Speaker 1: that was a good one. Thank you for listening to
