- 2:54Speaker 4: week around the time we have Doctor Athurus join the show.
- 2:56Speaker 4: He texted us. Turns out doctor has, like, you know,
- 2:59Speaker 4: a life as well, sounds like.
- 3:00Speaker 2: He likes you.
- 3:01Speaker 6: Jake More, I don't think he's ever canceled. He's came
- 3:05Speaker 6: in a few times when you weren't here and Jake
- 3:07Speaker 6: was wow.
- 3:10Speaker 4: I didn't think about that. And when you first said that,
- 3:13Speaker 4: I was like, who's Jake Moore?
- 3:15Speaker 7: Figure?
- 3:15Speaker 2: That is he a singer?
- 3:18Speaker 4: But he likes Jacob More. Yeah, certainly. But it turns
- 3:21Speaker 4: out doctor does have a life and you know, a job.
- 3:25Speaker 4: He has things to do sometimes. But he did text
- 3:28Speaker 4: and say in the medical profession they still utilize fax machines.
- 3:34Speaker 4: So that's two things in life that we know. Fax
- 3:37Speaker 4: machines are still used for doctors. A National signing Day
- 3:42Speaker 4: when high school kids sign a letter of intent and
- 3:44Speaker 4: send it to a college. That's what makes it official.
- 3:46Speaker 4: It's not official until then you can sign it. We
- 3:48Speaker 4: had this happen with kid from Edna Carr. He signed it,
- 3:53Speaker 4: but he didn't fax it in, so it wasn't official
- 3:55Speaker 4: until he got faxed. So doctors, high school kids only
- 3:59Speaker 4: people that use machines as that we know of. Do
- 4:02Speaker 4: you have anything else if you remember know any other
- 4:04Speaker 4: place of business that use a fax machine?
- 4:07Speaker 2: Let us know.
- 4:07Speaker 4: We are curious because we feel like it should be
- 4:10Speaker 4: a dead technology. Taylor Sam Darnold, if he wins this weekend,
- 4:19Speaker 4: if he wins a super Bowl, which they are four
- 4:20Speaker 4: and a half point favorites over the Patriots going into
- 4:23Speaker 4: the game, well he have had the most successful career
- 4:31Speaker 4: of anybody from the twenty eighteen draft class.
- 4:35Speaker 6: Lamar has two MVPs.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Probably Trump's won Super Bowl.
- 4:39Speaker 6: Josh has an MVP. I mean first one to win
- 4:44Speaker 6: a super Bowl though, yeah yeah, and based.
- 4:49Speaker 4: On how the career, first one to go did Lamar
- 4:51Speaker 4: go to him? Okay, so first one to even go
- 4:53Speaker 4: so far but go into Super Bowl is not going
- 4:56Speaker 4: to give you a better career over an MVP. No,
- 4:58Speaker 4: he has to win it, certainly, could I think so?
- 5:03Speaker 6: Because I mean that's every it should be every player's
- 5:05Speaker 6: ultimate goal, right.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I mean that's now. I was doing this.
- 5:09Speaker 4: I was doing a little research yesterday and I was
- 5:11Speaker 4: like wow, because I was thinking about this question. And
- 5:14Speaker 4: of course the goal always for any quarterback or head
- 5:17Speaker 4: coach is to win championships. That's how you judge the
- 5:19Speaker 4: merit of a quarterback or how good a quarterback was. Now,
- 5:23Speaker 4: certainly MVPs count, and they count heavily, but do they
- 5:29Speaker 4: count as much as Super Bowl victories? I started looking
- 5:33Speaker 4: at former NFL NFL MVPs that are not in the
- 5:37Speaker 4: Hall of Fame. So you can't sit here and make
- 5:40Speaker 4: the argument with Josh Allen's a Hall of famer. History
- 5:44Speaker 4: shows us that he is not yet a Hall of Famer. Now,
- 5:47Speaker 4: I think, lamar, if you get two MVPs, I don't
- 5:49Speaker 4: know if there's ever been a two MVP quarterback that
- 5:52Speaker 4: has not made the Hall of Fame. I don't know
- 5:54Speaker 4: if that's happened. But NFL MVPs in the past that
- 5:58Speaker 4: have not made the Hall of Fame. Steve McNair, Rich Gannon,
- 6:04Speaker 4: he was MVP.
- 6:04Speaker 2: How about that.
- 6:05Speaker 5: It saw a really funny video with him and John
- 6:08Speaker 5: Gruden yesterday. Yeah, it was like the most football video
- 6:12Speaker 5: you've ever.
- 6:12Speaker 6: Said, the one on the street.
- 6:13Speaker 4: On the street, he was sick of video, so good,
- 6:16Speaker 4: sick of football video?
- 6:17Speaker 6: Getting did his snapcount out loud on the streets of
- 6:21Speaker 6: San Francisco.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Oh, I love that there are people walking by.
- 6:23Speaker 5: Nobody even cared like y'all don't deserve to be near
- 6:27Speaker 5: the super Bowl in.
- 6:28Speaker 4: San Francisco, California and San Francisco, you're the worst. Oh,
- 6:32Speaker 4: Jake's having a good time though, Uh, Steven are Yeah?
- 6:35Speaker 4: One in two thousand and three is rich Gannon MVP
- 6:38Speaker 4: two thousand and two. Boomer Siason MVP nineteen eighty eight.
- 6:43Speaker 4: How about this, Joe Thaisman not in the Hall of Fame.
- 6:46Speaker 4: I didn't realize that.
- 6:48Speaker 6: Career got cut short obviously, So I mean, when you
- 6:51Speaker 6: look at career numbers, I'm surprised Boomer Sizon's and not
- 6:53Speaker 6: in it. Out of everyone on that list, you had
- 6:56Speaker 6: a long career. I was pretty consistent.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Throughout Ken Anderson the Hall of Fame either Mark Moseley,
- 7:01Speaker 4: who I don't think I've ever heard of.
- 7:03Speaker 6: So Ken Anderson, little controversy.
- 7:05Speaker 2: About won the MVP. Who is it?
- 7:09Speaker 4: Mark Moseley nineteen eighty two, And at the first sentence
- 7:13Speaker 4: is somehow a kicker won NFL MVP.
- 7:17Speaker 2: No cartoons been.
- 7:25Speaker 6: Really clutch.
- 7:26Speaker 2: It must have made some field goals.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Anyway, it gets it just It kind of started like because, yes,
- 7:36Speaker 4: Josh Allen certainly has a talent and on a Hall
- 7:39Speaker 4: of Fame trajectory. But if you or if Sam Darnald
- 7:43Speaker 4: wins this game to this point, there's a conversation to
- 7:48Speaker 4: be be had there certainly that his accomplishments are better
- 7:53Speaker 4: than Josh Allen's accomplishments. Now, of course there's not consistency.
- 7:57Speaker 4: He was seeing ghost he layed terrible for a terrible
- 8:01Speaker 4: organization is bounced around by the comeback that that kid
- 8:05Speaker 4: has made is impressive and something to certainly cheer for.
- 8:08Speaker 4: It's one of those things again when we're looking for
- 8:11Speaker 4: storylines going into this weekend, he's one of the largest storylines.
- 8:16Speaker 4: So it's just funny that in a draft class that
- 8:19Speaker 4: saw Baker Mayfield go number one, Sam Darnold went number three,
- 8:24Speaker 4: Josh Allen goes number four, Lamar Jackson goes number thirty two,
- 8:30Speaker 4: and then I have a little asterix partheses Josh Rosen
- 8:33Speaker 4: went number ten, which.
- 8:35Speaker 6: You know, the great mel Kiper said that Josh Rosen
- 8:38Speaker 6: was the most quarterback or NFL ready quarterback in that
- 8:40Speaker 6: draft class. Interesting, and Rosen had the famous saying, yeah,
- 8:44Speaker 6: I was pretty pissed that I fell in the draft
- 8:46Speaker 6: after getting drafted tenth overall by the Cardinals. Looking back
- 8:50Speaker 6: on it, not great. I got a little little update
- 8:53Speaker 6: on Mark Moseley for you.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Okay, went in the MVP.
- 8:56Speaker 6: It was the shortened season due to the strike in
- 8:59Speaker 6: nineteen eighty two. They only played nine games that year,
- 9:02Speaker 6: so there wasn't a ton of position players putting up
- 9:04Speaker 6: a ton of numbers. He was twenty of twenty one
- 9:07Speaker 6: on field goal attempts, sixteen of nineteen on extra points,
- 9:11Speaker 6: made multiple game winning field goals in the final minutes
- 9:13Speaker 6: of games during that nine game regular season, and helped
- 9:17Speaker 6: the Redskins win the Super Bowl that year. So adding
- 9:20Speaker 6: all that up, that's how he won MVP.
- 9:23Speaker 4: So they played a nine game season and then a
- 9:26Speaker 4: couple of games in the playoffs, so the strike went.
- 9:29Speaker 4: It was a nine game regular season in the season. Yeah,
- 9:32Speaker 4: so I know about the strike. I'm not familiar with
- 9:34Speaker 4: the details of the strike, but I feel like that's
- 9:39Speaker 4: still funny. I don't care if you make game winner.
- 9:41Speaker 4: You're a kicker, can't beat MVP of the NFL? Was
- 9:44Speaker 4: it just like a middle finger to the NFL for
- 9:46Speaker 4: being on strike, Like, hey, we're going to give this
- 9:48Speaker 4: a kicker this year.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Kickers lives matter, do they?
- 9:57Speaker 6: I love a good kicker, putter, different story, love good kicker.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Here's more important to a team? Deep snapper?
- 10:03Speaker 6: Or I feel like deep snapper might be easier to
- 10:12Speaker 6: teach someone to do it.
- 10:14Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 10:20Speaker 6: You pin people inside the ten yard line pretty consistently,
- 10:23Speaker 6: switching field position like.
- 10:24Speaker 2: You just switched your to you said long snapp.
- 10:29Speaker 4: I saw your expression on your face when you thought
- 10:31Speaker 4: about punters pinning them deep.
- 10:35Speaker 2: What a weapon?
- 10:36Speaker 6: A weapon? But I mean they're just not on the
- 10:40Speaker 6: field a ton for me.
- 10:42Speaker 5: But when they are it matters.
- 10:44Speaker 6: When when they are it matters for sure. And you
- 10:47Speaker 6: can say the same thing about kickers. But kickers can
- 10:49Speaker 6: lead to points. And I get field position and all that,
- 10:52Speaker 6: But no punter versus a long snapper.
- 11:00Speaker 4: In the chat right now, I don't know why. So
- 11:04Speaker 4: you can't believe everything you read on the internet. People
- 11:06Speaker 4: like this list. I mean, he's right. If Matt Ryan
- 11:08Speaker 4: and Cam Newton, they as well MVPs. Right, Cam Newton
- 11:13Speaker 4: for sure.
- 11:14Speaker 6: Kim for sure, Matt not was MVP, but he like
- 11:17Speaker 6: just became Hall of Fame eligible, like a here it goes.
- 11:20Speaker 2: So I mean move, what was this line?
- 11:22Speaker 4: Does not have a Hall of Fame career? No, I
- 11:25Speaker 4: don't think Cam Newton does. No, and you know they
- 11:30Speaker 4: definitely don't. But to your point about winning the Super Bowl,
- 11:32Speaker 4: both of them win. Neither them won, Right, But that's
- 11:36Speaker 4: to the point, like if we're making this, if we're
- 11:38Speaker 4: making this or just proposing this question something to ponder
- 11:41Speaker 4: leading up to this weekend, Right, we're finding ways to
- 11:44Speaker 4: get excited for this game. If you're thinking about the career,
- 11:48Speaker 4: who has the better career? Now, I'm gonna say, even
- 11:51Speaker 4: if he wins, I'm gonna say Lamar Jackson because he's
- 11:53Speaker 4: got two MVPs. But Josh Allen, Sam Darnold from the
- 11:57Speaker 4: same draft class, who has a better career if Sam
- 12:00Speaker 4: Donald wins, Because I get it, Josh Allen's a better quarterback.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Josh Allen is an alien. He's one of the best
- 12:06Speaker 4: players in the entire NFL. But if you're looking at accomplishments,
- 12:09Speaker 4: you can't just say because he won the MVP. You know,
- 12:12Speaker 4: these guys on the Hall of Fame trajectory.
- 12:14Speaker 2: No One. MVP does not put you in the Hall
- 12:15Speaker 2: of Fame.
- 12:17Speaker 6: For what it's worth, Ryan's not eligible yet unless he
- 12:21Speaker 6: was twenty twenty two. He's not eligible for another year
- 12:23Speaker 6: because you've gotta be out five years. It depends on
- 12:26Speaker 6: what Donald does after this, because like Josh Allen, Josh
- 12:30Speaker 6: Allen has set rushing touchdown records through the first like
- 12:33Speaker 6: you know, five or six years of his career or whatever,
- 12:35Speaker 6: like he's going to have multiple records.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Yeah, Josh Allen is a Hall of Fame right He's
- 12:40Speaker 2: the right one of the greatest.
- 12:42Speaker 6: I think career wise, Like who's got a better career?
- 12:44Speaker 6: I guess it depends on what they do. Donald certainly
- 12:46Speaker 6: has a leg up if he wins.
- 12:48Speaker 2: As of right now, And that's the question is as
- 12:50Speaker 2: of right now.
- 12:51Speaker 6: If Donald wins, never gets back and he just becomes
- 12:55Speaker 6: an average too above average NFL starter.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Yeah, for the rest of his career, there's no argument
- 12:59Speaker 2: it's gonna be Josh Allen at the end of the
- 13:00Speaker 2: day one.
- 13:05Speaker 4: But it's an interesting thing to ponder right now because
- 13:08Speaker 4: of that draft class. When you think of that draft class. Forever,
- 13:11Speaker 4: it's been Lamar, it's been Josh Allen, but now it's like, okay,
- 13:15Speaker 4: well Baker, you you even had some MVP votes last year.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Sam Darnold had I think was last year with the Vikings,
- 13:24Speaker 4: was tenth on the MVP voting list, certainly had some
- 13:28Speaker 4: votes this year or will it'll come out that he
- 13:30Speaker 4: had some votes this year?
- 13:32Speaker 2: Now?
- 13:32Speaker 4: I think I don't know how that process works. I
- 13:33Speaker 4: think like the voters can vote for first, second, third, fourth,
- 13:36Speaker 4: fifth place, something like that, then they kind of tally
- 13:38Speaker 4: all the all the scores up. But yeah, that draft
- 13:42Speaker 4: class has made a comeback for sure. Now what quarterback
- 13:47Speaker 4: draft class in the last like ten years is the best?
- 13:51Speaker 6: It might be that one, because all those guys have
- 13:53Speaker 6: multiple playoff wins outside of Rose, yeah, all of them.
- 13:56Speaker 2: It might be that one.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Currently, twenty twenty draft class was trying to make a push,
- 14:02Speaker 4: justin Herbert, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts to uh am, I
- 14:07Speaker 4: dropping am I forgetting anybody on that one, not big name,
- 14:11Speaker 4: not big name, that that one was making a push.
- 14:13Speaker 4: They slid this year. Twenty eighteen went ahead of that
- 14:17Speaker 4: one for sure. Now twenty twenty four draft class is
- 14:21Speaker 4: coming on strong with Jaydon Daniels, Drake May, Caleb Williams,
- 14:29Speaker 4: nine boh Niggs. Yeah, Bonick, I'm sorry, Yeah, blanking on
- 14:33Speaker 4: Bonecks there, nine Pinnix being the one that is still
- 14:38Speaker 4: at like a TBD type of guy JJ a little
- 14:41Speaker 4: bit too. But that draft class is coming on really
- 14:43Speaker 4: strong as well. So right now we're watching really good
- 14:46Speaker 4: quarterback play throughout the NFL. High quality quarterback play. We've
- 14:50Speaker 4: saw it. We've seen it throughout the playoffs. I mean,
- 14:53Speaker 4: I realized that making this top ten list all year,
- 14:55Speaker 4: making the top ten list in the quarterbacks, it's hard.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Someone asked me on Twitter the you know, I got
- 15:01Speaker 4: a lot of Packer fans that have followed me from
- 15:03Speaker 4: my playing days and they're like, hey' is Jordan Love
- 15:06Speaker 4: He's a top five quarterback right in the NFL. And
- 15:08Speaker 4: I'm like, I get at one point, like his production,
- 15:12Speaker 4: his output, his skill set would definitely put him in
- 15:15Speaker 4: the top five at a certain point in the last
- 15:18Speaker 4: twenty years. But like right now, it's hard to like
- 15:21Speaker 4: crack a top five and it's like a top ten,
- 15:24Speaker 4: especially top five list, Like there's so much high quality
- 15:27Speaker 4: quarterbacking and it's cool to see like they're all coming
- 15:31Speaker 4: in these bunches at a time. Twenty eighteen draft class,
- 15:33Speaker 4: twenty twenty draft class, twenty twenty four draft class. So
- 15:37Speaker 4: we'll see how each of those draft. It'll be fun
- 15:40Speaker 4: to watch him in the next couple of years. But yeah,
- 15:42Speaker 4: we're cheering for Sam Darnald, also Jairfer dray Math cheering
- 15:45Speaker 4: for a good game this week. But I love those
- 15:47Speaker 4: conversations about who's had the better career because of course
- 15:50Speaker 4: we're not arguing who's a better player. It's the better
- 15:53Speaker 4: career up to the state. So Sam Darnald has a
- 15:55Speaker 4: chance to get one up on the rest of his
- 15:57Speaker 4: fellow twenty eighteen draft class quarterback.
- 16:00Speaker 2: All right, we'll go to break.
- 16:02Speaker 4: We'll keep talking all things sports, all things Super Bowl,
- 16:05Speaker 4: all things LSU right here, off the.

- 19:00Speaker 4: got carried away yesterday fives were good. We kind of
- 19:04Speaker 4: lost track. We do that here, we get a little.
- 19:06Speaker 2: It happens ot B CTE.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Add situation happening again. Diagnosed squirrels here. So we started
- 19:14Speaker 4: yesterday a little kind of a Super Bowl party game,
- 19:17Speaker 4: a prop bet party game. We're gonna we're filling these
- 19:19Speaker 4: questions out. The tripod here is answering these questions and
- 19:23Speaker 4: whoever wins it gets the hoist up the OTB turnover
- 19:27Speaker 4: chain on Monday. Hell yeah, So I recommend you find
- 19:29Speaker 4: us something like this for your host a little party.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Don't just do the Squares game. Do the Squares game
- 19:32Speaker 4: because it's awesome and it's a classic, but also get
- 19:36Speaker 4: a little prop bet action going.
- 19:39Speaker 2: All right, let's see it.
- 19:41Speaker 4: So there's twenty three total questions, and yesterday we went through.
- 19:47Speaker 4: We went through sixteen of them. There's twenty three. Then
- 19:49Speaker 4: there's gonna be a total. So we went through things
- 19:50Speaker 4: like linked to the national anthem. You know what the
- 19:53Speaker 4: result of a coin toss is gonna be heads or tails?
- 19:55Speaker 4: First team to score, first jersey number to score, how
- 19:58Speaker 4: many sacks like prop bets like that. We even talked
- 20:00Speaker 4: about mister bad Bunny, mister dust Bunny, how he's gonna do.
- 20:03Speaker 4: What song is gonna play? Tuno Taylor said, Dakiti. It's
- 20:09Speaker 4: a personal fave. Let's say Dakiti. It makes me feel
- 20:13Speaker 4: like I'm on my Game of Thrones, like the death Threat.
- 20:15Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I love the name picked it.
- 20:18Speaker 4: I know I get it smart all right, So we're
- 20:21Speaker 4: gonna keep on going. And this is the commercial and
- 20:23Speaker 4: broadcast section. The next four questions. So this is question
- 20:26Speaker 4: seventeen through twenty.
- 20:28Speaker 6: I feel like we're in Jeopardy, like we're in the
- 20:30Speaker 6: commercial broadcast category.
- 20:32Speaker 2: That's exactly right. So please answer this question with a question.
- 20:35Speaker 5: Bunny in the background. You put some bad Bunny on
- 20:37Speaker 5: it make everybody's so angry, just rage Beta.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Which one is this? This is Dakitiracky, It's not this Monico.
- 20:44Speaker 5: No, it's neither of those.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Is it? T t me Praguento again.
- 20:50Speaker 5: This is saying he's gonna take someone to Puerto Rico.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, it seems like a nice thing, a nice invitation. Yeah, nice,
- 20:59Speaker 2: all right.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Question number seventeen, first beer brand commercial that is going
- 21:04Speaker 4: to air during the Super Bowl is it bud Light.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Mikaelobultri coers like Osekis.
- 21:11Speaker 5: I'm gonna go bud Light because it feels like they've
- 21:13Speaker 5: been like heavy in the marketing game lately and.
- 21:15Speaker 6: The lately and they always have multiple Super Bowl commercials
- 21:20Speaker 6: every year. Yeah, yeah, out of those four, I'll go, I'll.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Go bud Light.
- 21:24Speaker 4: So do Seki says, like they just brought back the
- 21:26Speaker 4: most entrance, most entranced man in the world. I gotta
- 21:29Speaker 4: think we're gonna go. We're gonna see early. Huh, they'll
- 21:33Speaker 4: debut that'll debut it early. They're bringing a back that's
- 21:35Speaker 4: a big deal because he was gone for a while.
- 21:38Speaker 6: Is this still Michael Phelps or as they go back
- 21:40Speaker 6: to that Readita guy, our older guy. He's back like
- 21:44Speaker 6: that man is maginal guy the originally had like Michael
- 21:47Speaker 6: Phelps for a while. Yea, I know they had the
- 21:49Speaker 6: og is back recently and like within the last month
- 21:52Speaker 6: or two.
- 21:52Speaker 2: So is it a lead up.
- 21:53Speaker 4: I'm gonna go with Dosekis as the first commercial just
- 21:57Speaker 4: because of the guy.
- 21:59Speaker 2: That's a throwbacks what y'all y'all w.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:07Speaker 6: Somebody in the chat ass bud Wiser Budwiser counts for
- 22:10Speaker 6: a bud Light.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Yeah, because they do have specific bud Lie. I'm saying
- 22:13Speaker 4: that bud is not on your it's.
- 22:16Speaker 6: Different bud right.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I feel like, okay, are y'all both doing that? Sure? Okay,
- 22:28Speaker 2: all right, we got this.
- 22:30Speaker 6: And the chad ass like I appreciate it because it's like,
- 22:32Speaker 6: that's a good question, a question worth.
- 22:35Speaker 5: I feel like they should be separate, like because they
- 22:38Speaker 5: usually are, Like there's usually a bud Light commercial, there's
- 22:41Speaker 5: a bud like the Clydesdales.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Well, both of them are gonna be wrong. It's gonna
- 22:48Speaker 2: be just seconds.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Okay, say Thursday, my friends, all right, will a movie
- 22:53Speaker 4: trailer for a Marvel or DC film air?
- 22:58Speaker 2: No, I don't know what they're released schedule is?
- 23:02Speaker 7: I know.
- 23:02Speaker 5: I'm trying to think, but I don't think.
- 23:05Speaker 4: So you get the benefit of both of both universes,
- 23:08Speaker 4: Marvel and DC.
- 23:10Speaker 5: I don't feel like there's anything coming up.
- 23:12Speaker 6: Yeah, not like super recent right.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Mm hmm, you never know.
- 23:18Speaker 4: I'm gonna say, no, wasn't Robert Downey Junr like in
- 23:21Speaker 4: another one as different here Doctor Doom?
- 23:23Speaker 2: Has that movie come out?
- 23:25Speaker 6: I don't know another replays I don't know this came out. Okay,
- 23:30Speaker 6: there's so many I don't follow that.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna go with no as well.
- 23:37Speaker 5: I don't think so.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Did you nearly say a potty word? You know, we'll work.
- 23:43Speaker 6: I can't ultimate.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Ultimate word start with, I have not I don't even
- 23:48Speaker 2: want to say that.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Okay, I don't think so. What's a drawing too? Will
- 23:53Speaker 4: there be a surprise guest performing?
- 23:55Speaker 2: No? Wait, hold on, no, wrong question, my bad. We
- 23:57Speaker 2: already did that. How many times? Well?
- 23:59Speaker 4: The quote the term dynasty or Tom Brady be mentioned over?
- 24:04Speaker 4: This is low over under one and a half.
- 24:07Speaker 2: I'm gonna go out. Okay, no, no, no, I'm changing this
- 24:12Speaker 2: three and a half.
- 24:13Speaker 6: I still go over.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Still over, that's one and a half. That's trash.
- 24:18Speaker 5: If that dynasty so many times.
- 24:21Speaker 2: If that's actually on.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Any sportsbook, go there now, yeah, hammer one and so
- 24:27Speaker 4: I'm gonna going three.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Now, y'all going over. I'm going over.
- 24:29Speaker 6: I'm going over.
- 24:29Speaker 2: I'm going over.
- 24:30Speaker 6: You're gonna pick the number, and I'm going over.
- 24:32Speaker 5: Check Polly Market, just.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Pick the number. I think if it was Chris Collinsworth
- 24:37Speaker 4: over thirty eight and a half.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Now, if.
- 24:42Speaker 6: The microphone it is Colin's worth?
- 24:44Speaker 2: But is it really?
- 24:45Speaker 4: It is?
- 24:45Speaker 2: It's NBC over over five and a half?
- 24:49Speaker 5: Is there?
- 24:50Speaker 6: I know he's completely irrelevant to the Super Bowl. Is
- 24:53Speaker 6: there a Patrick Mahomes odds?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Because I'm taking the.
- 24:54Speaker 6: Over on that too, first quarterback to scramble outside the pocket?
- 25:01Speaker 4: All right, Yeah, for sure, This question says first celebrity
- 25:06Speaker 4: scene in a commercial. It says, Rightchel guests. But I'm
- 25:08Speaker 4: gonna say I'll give an over under over under on
- 25:12Speaker 4: CARDI b sightings one and a half at the game.
- 25:16Speaker 4: I think during the game they panned her.
- 25:18Speaker 5: Oh I'm gonna go I don't know.
- 25:22Speaker 4: I mean it kind of depends on if Stefan Diggs has.
- 25:25Speaker 5: And I don't think that she's Taylor Swift. No, no,
- 25:30Speaker 5: I think I'm gonna go on the under on that one.
- 25:32Speaker 4: So one or less for you, So one and a
- 25:34Speaker 4: half on the over, And I mean it kind of
- 25:36Speaker 4: depends on if Stefan Diggs has a big play. I'm
- 25:38Speaker 4: sure I don't.
- 25:40Speaker 6: I'll just go over just so we have.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Something I'm gonna go over to just because super people.
- 25:45Speaker 4: People want to people watch, and she's so she'll definitely
- 25:49Speaker 4: get a people watching as a story but if Stephan
- 25:52Speaker 4: Diggs has a big play, I think he she'd not
- 25:54Speaker 4: get a second look.
- 25:55Speaker 6: What were the odds on the first celebrity.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Commercial Celeburty commercial?
- 26:01Speaker 6: Did you say that said?
- 26:03Speaker 4: Yeah, first celebrity scene in a commercial. They just said,
- 26:06Speaker 4: write your guests. John Ham for me, put it down, okay,
- 26:08Speaker 4: John Ham, So, y'all are going under and over?
- 26:12Speaker 2: Okay, got it.
- 26:12Speaker 6: Ham's hosting the Honors on Thursday night. He's gonna do
- 26:16Speaker 6: MGM commercial when he's got a new show coming out.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Very good.
- 26:18Speaker 4: All right, we're gonna go to break because we're gonna
- 26:20Speaker 4: try to stay on time because our favorite, one of
- 26:23Speaker 4: our favorite sements of the week, coach Kim Milk, will
- 26:25Speaker 4: be joining the show when we come back right here.
- 26:27Speaker 7: Off the bench, Off the bench, Yeah, Off the Bench,
- 26:40Speaker 7: presented by Hood Dental.
- 26:47Speaker 4: All right, welcome back here Off the Bench Wednesday Morning.
- 26:51Speaker 4: Wednesday Show brought to by Hood Dental. We as always
- 26:55Speaker 4: every single Wednesday. We are fired up always to host
- 26:59Speaker 4: and talk to our favorite guests of the week. Coach,
- 27:02Speaker 4: you're a Lady Tiger's basketball team. Coach Kim Mulki, Coach,
- 27:05Speaker 4: how are you doing this morning?
- 27:06Speaker 8: I'm great, y'all. Doing good.
- 27:08Speaker 4: We are doing fantastic. Weather's kind of finally warmed up
- 27:11Speaker 4: a little bit, so we thought out, we're feeling better.
- 27:14Speaker 4: And something that hasn't thought out is your Tiger basketball team.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Ye're coming off a fantastic win this week against Alabama.
- 27:23Speaker 8: I wish I could bottle that up and play like
- 27:26Speaker 8: that every game, just really, especially on the defensive end.
- 27:32Speaker 8: I've been harping preaching at him all year. God, we
- 27:37Speaker 8: can score points, That's not our problem. Our problem is
- 27:40Speaker 8: we have got to commit to defense. And they did.
- 27:45Speaker 8: That's this fun and defensive effort by everyone that I
- 27:49Speaker 8: have had this year, and consequently you scored a lot
- 27:53Speaker 8: of points because of your defensive effort. So Alabama's a
- 27:57Speaker 8: good basketball team, top twenty five. Don't look at that
- 28:01Speaker 8: score and be misled. We just played that good cause how.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Do you bottle that up?
- 28:08Speaker 4: Your defense has improved over the entire year, and I
- 28:12Speaker 4: think in the SEC giving up just over sixty five
- 28:15Speaker 4: points a game on defense, and so how do you
- 28:18Speaker 4: bottle that up? What do you attribute to the improvements
- 28:21Speaker 4: on the defensive side of the ball.
- 28:24Speaker 8: I hope I've heard some of it. You kind of
- 28:26Speaker 8: faded on me. I don't know how you bottle it
- 28:29Speaker 8: up other than what we do every day. You get
- 28:31Speaker 8: in a film room, you show them all the wonderful
- 28:33Speaker 8: things repetition. When you have success, you tend to want
- 28:40Speaker 8: to continue to do it. Now. The opposing team has
- 28:43Speaker 8: a lot to do with that as well. So we've
- 28:46Speaker 8: got our hands full going to Texas. That's going to
- 28:48Speaker 8: be a defensive battle, probably not a very entertaining game offensively,
- 28:54Speaker 8: But you know their final four team, they were ranked
- 28:57Speaker 8: as high as two in the country this year. We
- 29:00Speaker 8: beat them here have to play them again, and I
- 29:03Speaker 8: don't anticipate it to be anything other than one heck
- 29:06Speaker 8: of a basketball game.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Coach, I tell you, so, I took your advice last week.
- 29:11Speaker 4: You told me, I know, I got a lot of
- 29:12Speaker 4: East Texan in me, and so I studied up and
- 29:16Speaker 4: I made a mistake, and so I'm here to make
- 29:18Speaker 4: up for it. Jada Reeshard played incredible against Bama. She
- 29:21Speaker 4: continues to play gray, but Kayla Williams played Grady as
- 29:23Speaker 4: a kay Johnson mccaye full Wiley is playing fantastic, So
- 29:27Speaker 4: like you're gonna need them in this next stretch.
- 29:30Speaker 2: You got a heck of a stretch coming up? You go.
- 29:32Speaker 4: You're taking on Texas tomorrow night in Austin. You've already
- 29:35Speaker 4: beat them once this year, but you have a four
- 29:38Speaker 4: game stretch right now that is pretty till you got
- 29:41Speaker 4: your go to Auburn next, you're home at number three
- 29:44Speaker 4: South Carolina, then at number thirteen, Oh miss, how do
- 29:47Speaker 4: you get them prepared, especially after a big win? I
- 29:49Speaker 4: remember my coaches used to coach us so hard after
- 29:52Speaker 4: a big win, after we beat somebody a lot on
- 29:54Speaker 4: the scoreboard, they used to coach us a lot harder.
- 29:57Speaker 4: How did you get your team ready after victory to
- 30:01Speaker 4: go on this four game stretch?
- 30:03Speaker 8: Well, as you know, first of all, you didn't make
- 30:05Speaker 8: a mistake. A mistake is not a mistake until you
- 30:08Speaker 8: make it twice the way I look at it, And listen, Reshard, Richard, Look,
- 30:12Speaker 8: we've got so many names in Louisiana. You gotta live
- 30:15Speaker 8: here to understand the pronunciation. I was actually picking on
- 30:20Speaker 8: you about that, but listen, you know, enjoy the win
- 30:26Speaker 8: for that twenty four hour period and then it's over
- 30:28Speaker 8: and always right on the board. If what you did
- 30:31Speaker 8: yesterday still looks big to you today, then you haven't
- 30:34Speaker 8: done much today. We won't ever forget that moment. We
- 30:37Speaker 8: won't ever forget that victory. But there are bigger fish
- 30:42Speaker 8: to fry out there. We're trying to win a SEC title.
- 30:45Speaker 8: We're trying to host the first and second round game,
- 30:48Speaker 8: and those goals are much bigger than just beating Alabama.
- 30:53Speaker 8: You don't look too far ahead. We already know what
- 30:57Speaker 8: lies ahead. We don't look at old Me. We don't
- 31:00Speaker 8: have to go look at South Carolina, we don't have
- 31:02Speaker 8: to look at Auburn. All we have to do is
- 31:05Speaker 8: listen to the eyes of Texas. That's all we gotta do,
- 31:08Speaker 8: and focus on.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Ut That's right.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Well, certainly the eyes and nationally are on your lady
- 31:14Speaker 4: Tigers as well, getting recognitioned, jumped up to number five
- 31:18Speaker 4: and taking on, of course the Texas. And then if
- 31:20Speaker 4: we just got some news yesterday that in a couple
- 31:22Speaker 4: of weeks the College Dame Day is going to come down,
- 31:24Speaker 4: and a lot of that has to do, of course,
- 31:25Speaker 4: with you and what your ladies are doing, but also
- 31:28Speaker 4: the atmosphere that the fan base brings each and every
- 31:32Speaker 4: week when they when you have a when you have
- 31:34Speaker 4: a home game, which kind of got me thinking you're
- 31:36Speaker 4: about to go on the road three the next four games.
- 31:39Speaker 4: What's the toughest place in the SEC to go and
- 31:42Speaker 4: travel from a fan base standpoint, just the toughest stadium
- 31:46Speaker 4: to play in.
- 31:48Speaker 8: Well, if we're going to talk about fan base and
- 31:54Speaker 8: people in Columbia, South Carolina is awesome, and so kudo
- 32:00Speaker 8: to South Carolina for showing up for their basketball teams.
- 32:04Speaker 8: I think we have a great fan base. I think
- 32:08Speaker 8: South Carolina and LSU consistently have fans buy season tickets
- 32:14Speaker 8: and sell out those arenas, and then after that, I
- 32:17Speaker 8: think it depends on the type of year that the
- 32:20Speaker 8: respective team has had. I find that when we go
- 32:24Speaker 8: on the road, not counting South Carolina, when we go
- 32:27Speaker 8: on the road, we seem to help fill the stands,
- 32:31Speaker 8: and I ask myself, that's respect. That's our kids are
- 32:38Speaker 8: always on social media. We have a culture here at
- 32:42Speaker 8: LSUS that is attractive to not just sports people but
- 32:47Speaker 8: people who may be considering going to LSU. But we
- 32:52Speaker 8: do tend to draw very well when we go on
- 32:54Speaker 8: the road, and not just our fans, but fans from
- 32:57Speaker 8: the area of where we're playing. That is something to see.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Matt.
- 33:01Speaker 8: We take security with us for obvious reasons. Because I
- 33:06Speaker 8: cannot tell you how long it takes us to get
- 33:09Speaker 8: out of gyms, because I believe we have an obligation
- 33:13Speaker 8: to sign autographs, take pictures that could be the first
- 33:16Speaker 8: time someone has ever seen LSU play. And so after
- 33:19Speaker 8: every game we spend ten minutes going back out on
- 33:22Speaker 8: the court and we tell the people, the police security
- 33:26Speaker 8: at those institutions that this is what we do, and
- 33:30Speaker 8: please don't run them out of the gym. I think
- 33:32Speaker 8: it helps us grow the game, I really do, and
- 33:34Speaker 8: I think we have an obligation to do that. If
- 33:37Speaker 8: one little girl for the first time is going to
- 33:39Speaker 8: meet Flaje A. Johnson, then let's do it. And I
- 33:43Speaker 8: think that our players enjoy it. You wouldn't believe getting
- 33:48Speaker 8: off the bus, how they line up, and that's a
- 33:51Speaker 8: good thing. That's a good thing. I know, you know
- 33:53Speaker 8: it happens in a lot of sports, but in women's
- 33:55Speaker 8: basketball that doesn't happen. Happen very often, And I think
- 33:59Speaker 8: it just has a lot to do with the personality
- 34:02Speaker 8: of our team, how we play the game, how we
- 34:04Speaker 8: enjoy the game, how we show excitement and enthusiasm when
- 34:09Speaker 8: we play.
- 34:10Speaker 4: Coaching brings ups like some interesting questions that I have
- 34:13Speaker 4: about that because the with social media today and like
- 34:16Speaker 4: the different media outlets, players have all sorts of platforms
- 34:21Speaker 4: that certainly I never had, You never had when you
- 34:23Speaker 4: were when you were playing, and didn't have a long
- 34:25Speaker 4: time with coaching. But these these players have a lot
- 34:27Speaker 4: of platforms to build their brand, let people know their personality,
- 34:30Speaker 4: which I think helps, of course, the attractiveness of different sports.
- 34:35Speaker 4: It helps attracting us of women's basketball. So is there
- 34:38Speaker 4: a when you ask coaching staff you also have there's
- 34:42Speaker 4: some there's some pitfalls in that as well. Right, you
- 34:45Speaker 4: see things you don't want to see. You can you
- 34:46Speaker 4: have people that can put some stuff out there that
- 34:48Speaker 4: you might not want your players but out there, do
- 34:50Speaker 4: y'all do any sort of oversight on social media just
- 34:56Speaker 4: presence from any.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Of your players.
- 34:59Speaker 8: Well, I'm not sure I understand your questions, so I'll
- 35:02Speaker 8: just answer it broadly. I'm not a social media person.
- 35:05Speaker 8: I don't have it on my phone. Do I have account, Yes,
- 35:09Speaker 8: for obvious reasons recruiting and things like that, but I
- 35:12Speaker 8: do not control them. That is controlled by assistants on
- 35:18Speaker 8: my staff. The only thing I will tell you that
- 35:22Speaker 8: I tell our players is that Social media can be
- 35:26Speaker 8: good for some people's businesses and then promoting things and
- 35:29Speaker 8: for your brand, but it can also eat you up.
- 35:32Speaker 8: And if you stay on there and you read all
- 35:34Speaker 8: the crap that's written on there and the lives that's
- 35:37Speaker 8: written on there, and you're not strong enough to handle it,
- 35:40Speaker 8: it can really demoralize you. I just I don't just
- 35:45Speaker 8: sit down and say, oh, we're going to go to
- 35:47Speaker 8: this class and you're gonna learn. Look, by the time
- 35:50Speaker 8: they get to college, they know all of it. And
- 35:53Speaker 8: what you hope happens is that our administrators have meetings
- 35:57Speaker 8: with them and we do have a lot of me
- 36:00Speaker 8: things throughout the year, from teaching them how to balance
- 36:05Speaker 8: a budget to teach them how to go follow their
- 36:08Speaker 8: income tax. I mean, you have to do all those
- 36:10Speaker 8: things now. And part of that, I'm sure is social
- 36:14Speaker 8: media are used to call them sid sports information people
- 36:21Speaker 8: cannot and do not allow them to just have any
- 36:24Speaker 8: type of media interview without approval from them, because you
- 36:29Speaker 8: know this, there are people that are just not qualified.
- 36:33Speaker 8: And everybody wants to be a journalist now and they're
- 36:35Speaker 8: really not. They're trying to get clickbait, and so we're
- 36:40Speaker 8: very careful in making sure that any interviews they do
- 36:43Speaker 8: they have to go through our media relations department.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Yeah, that was a especially when you're dealing with with
- 36:50Speaker 4: kids that are eighteen, nineteen, twenty years old, you definitely
- 36:53Speaker 4: have to learn. It's a skill set that needs to
- 36:55Speaker 4: be taught on how to speak to the media and
- 36:57Speaker 4: what messaging you want to get out there, and certainly
- 36:59Speaker 4: more portly a message you don't want to get out there.
- 37:02Speaker 4: My next question for you is more some some advice,
- 37:04Speaker 4: some dad advice that I want because I listen to
- 37:08Speaker 4: your advice and listen to your answers all the time.
- 37:10Speaker 4: You have so much, so much wisdom, and you've seen
- 37:12Speaker 4: a lot, so I want to ask you youth sports
- 37:15Speaker 4: has gotten wild these days, from the scheduling, to the traveling,
- 37:19Speaker 4: to the expense of it. I got three kids that
- 37:22Speaker 4: are all wanting to do different sports and different things,
- 37:24Speaker 4: and it seems like youth sports has just gotten a
- 37:27Speaker 4: little bit out of hand. From scheduling, how many days
- 37:30Speaker 4: a week they're practicing, the emphasis put on like private lessons,
- 37:33Speaker 4: and all this at a young age. If you were
- 37:36Speaker 4: raising a couple of ten, eight and five year olds
- 37:39Speaker 4: right now, how would you handle what kind of sports
- 37:41Speaker 4: and the scheduling that they that they go through.
- 37:44Speaker 8: Well, the excuse me, the travel, the expenses, none of
- 37:48Speaker 8: that's any different than when I raised mind mat. Here's
- 37:52Speaker 8: the way I approached it. Too many parents live their
- 37:56Speaker 8: lives through their children's sports careers. I was fortunate to
- 38:01Speaker 8: have done everything I wanted to do, so I didn't
- 38:04Speaker 8: have to do that. You don't have to do that.
- 38:06Speaker 8: But it's those parents who never got to do that.
- 38:09Speaker 8: So my advice to them is step back and let
- 38:14Speaker 8: your child figure out what it is they're good at
- 38:18Speaker 8: and that they really have this ambition to be successful
- 38:22Speaker 8: at it. Don't push them into things that you want
- 38:26Speaker 8: them to do. Second thing is I kind of go
- 38:29Speaker 8: back to the summer ball and all that stuff. If
- 38:33Speaker 8: your child wants to do it and it's good enough
- 38:36Speaker 8: to play at the highest level, it's your obligation as
- 38:40Speaker 8: a parent to find ways and means to help them
- 38:43Speaker 8: do that. Rather it's grandparents, whether it's you share it
- 38:48Speaker 8: with your spouse. Don't hold a kid back that is
- 38:51Speaker 8: good because it's inconvenient for you. Oh, we can't go
- 38:55Speaker 8: on vacation because he's got a tournament. Well, guess what
- 38:58Speaker 8: we have to do those things as parents, but don't
- 39:01Speaker 8: push kids into things that they're really not obsessed with.
- 39:07Speaker 8: I want to also talk about high schools. I dealt
- 39:10Speaker 8: with this in high school with my kids, and most
- 39:14Speaker 8: my kids played at the highest level in high school,
- 39:17Speaker 8: public school. You will find high school coaches are very selfish.
- 39:21Speaker 8: They want that kid to play their sport year round. Well,
- 39:25Speaker 8: guess what, You're gonna have those athletes that are pretty
- 39:29Speaker 8: darn good in football and baseball and basketball, and they
- 39:32Speaker 8: do overlap. You allow those players to play all sports.
- 39:39Speaker 8: I believe that playing all sports is only helpful when
- 39:43Speaker 8: they get to the college level. And I never wanted
- 39:46Speaker 8: my kids to be at a school where these coaches
- 39:50Speaker 8: were so selfish. And I'll give this great example. You're
- 39:53Speaker 8: gonna appreciate this, and I love him death. Okay, So
- 39:58Speaker 8: Kramer's five nine, five ten on his tippy toes, however
- 40:03Speaker 8: you want to say it. We knew he was not
- 40:05Speaker 8: gonna be six foot sixty two sixty three. He he
- 40:10Speaker 8: would have loved to play college football, got a cannon
- 40:12Speaker 8: for an arm played against Baker Mayfield in the state championship.
- 40:17Speaker 8: You should have seen those two quarterbacks going at it.
- 40:20Speaker 8: But he knew in the summers he had to go
- 40:22Speaker 8: to these All American Baseball invites. Well, what happens in Texas, Matt,
- 40:28Speaker 8: They want you to play? What seven? All seven?
- 40:31Speaker 6: Baby?
- 40:32Speaker 8: He couldn't do that. So a new coach comes into
- 40:36Speaker 8: his high school and I won't say he penal lost him,
- 40:39Speaker 8: but he wasn't gonna let him be the quarterback. And
- 40:42Speaker 8: I said, well, just go talk to him and say, coach,
- 40:45Speaker 8: it doesn't matter. I'm gonna come back when school starts.
- 40:47Speaker 8: You put me wherever you need me on the field.
- 40:50Speaker 8: And I winked at my son and I said, you'll
- 40:52Speaker 8: be quarterback before the year's over. He's throwing the football.
- 40:58Speaker 8: So they started and put him at safety in and
- 41:00Speaker 8: I laughed. I said, that boy's not gonna hit anybody.
- 41:03Speaker 8: But he played state. Then they moved him to the
- 41:05Speaker 8: inside receiver, which he's got great hands. But anyway, get
- 41:09Speaker 8: to about the third, fourth, I don't know, fifth game
- 41:11Speaker 8: of the season, and man, Waco High School was blitzing.
- 41:16Speaker 8: I mean they were stunting. They were just going after
- 41:18Speaker 8: the quarterback. It was an ugly sight. He got home
- 41:23Speaker 8: and I said, you've been throwing the football. He goes, mom,
- 41:26Speaker 8: stop it. Next day after practice, he goes, had you
- 41:30Speaker 8: been talking to the coaches? I said, I've never talked
- 41:32Speaker 8: to your coach. He said, I'm moving to quarterbacks. And
- 41:36Speaker 8: that's the year he went on and played for the
- 41:38Speaker 8: state championships. So the lesson to be learned there and
- 41:41Speaker 8: I loved his coach. I won't tell you who he is.
- 41:44Speaker 8: Great coach won state championship. I said, coach, what lesson
- 41:48Speaker 8: did you learn? You can't be stubborn when you got
- 41:51Speaker 8: a kid that understands sports that's the best you have
- 41:54Speaker 8: and has to go play the other sport because that's
- 41:57Speaker 8: where his future is in college. So we've had a
- 42:00Speaker 8: good laugh about that. But let them do what they
- 42:03Speaker 8: want to do, find the means to get them where
- 42:05Speaker 8: they want to be, But don't live your life.
- 42:07Speaker 2: To your child.
- 42:09Speaker 4: That speaks to me, coach, because high school football Texas.
- 42:12Speaker 4: I had to give up baseball to be the quarterback
- 42:14Speaker 4: for my high school team as well, So I get it.
- 42:16Speaker 2: Coach.
- 42:17Speaker 4: There is no handbook to being a parent, especially in
- 42:19Speaker 4: this uth sports world, so I appreciate every piece of advice.
