- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Hey everyone, I am Hilary Heshawa Jones, and I am the product creator of this podcast called The Bougie Multipreneur.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: So you are listening to my very first podcast.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: How exciting! I'm sure I'll mess up a few times, as we all do, but we're gonna keep on trucking through.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: So you might be asking yourself, Hilary, what's up with this bougie multipreneur?
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: What in the world does that mean?
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: And why did you pick that for your podcast?
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Well, a couple of my friends they call me bougie.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Um, I think that's because I like nice things, I like name brand things, cars, clothes, jewelry.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: I have a bougie house, and uh I really enjoy living that type of lifestyle because it's not really how I grew up, and I'm enjoying like just living this life and everything I've worked hard for.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: So, multipreneur, obviously, you probably know what that means, but it's becoming more and more used frequently for those of us who have several businesses.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: So, this podcast is going to be kind of what you expect about business.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: So, let me tell you a little bit about myself and why I chose this podcast about multiple businesses that I own.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: I have two chiropractic offices.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: So, I am a chiropractor.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: I graduated in 2007 and started from the ground running with an office and created another one in 2023.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: So I feel like I'm uh great at owning a business, running a business, and a pretty darn great chiropractor if I don't say so myself.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Besides doing the chiropractic, I a couple years ago I got into business coaching.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: One of my friends was like, Hey, when are you gonna coach?
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: And I thought, I don't know, I would love to.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: And she's like, You're gonna be my coach.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: And that's how HHJ consulting started.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: I love doing that.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: I love giving back, I love teaching people and I love watching other people grow and make money.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: I'm super excited when I get to make money and watch others make money and not waste time on other things that are just consuming of time and not bringing us the revenue in.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: And then my husband and I, he owns an accounting and tax business himself.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: We started buying rental properties, commercial properties.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: And in fact, any day now, we are launching a um luxury garage condo that we will be using as another business where we're gonna rent it out for events.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: So follow along with me on this podcast.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Learn how I created these businesses, how I keep them going.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Let's say that you have a small business and you're having trouble with employees and retention.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Great, I got a whole bunch I can talk to you about that.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Let's say you're wanting to know am I ready for an office manager, adding more staff?
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Great, we will talk about it.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Let's say you want to know about marketing and how is it that my chiropractic clinics has have been so successful in the community?
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Partnerships with like strategic brand partnerships in the community, running events and like bringing in new patients, we can talk about that.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Um, even as far as like what is it like to have rental properties?
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: As of today, we have six rental houses, they call them doors, is the lingo.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: We have six doors, and then we have two commercial buildings.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: So we are gonna talk it about like how that started and maybe some first steps.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Some of you might thinking, hey, I've got some extra money, maybe this rental housing is something that I can do to make some passive income.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: I bet you can.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna talk about that how much my husband and I love doing that.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: And honestly, we don't really put in a lot of the sweat equity.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: If you are great at that, like more power to you, but I definitely remember resurfacing some kitchen and bathroom cabinets one summer and wrecking my shoulder for far too long.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: So now I don't do anything.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: I place phone calls and I have people come and fix stuff for us.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: But the type of properties that you pick, you could pick some that don't require a lot of work.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna talk about rental properties, how you can get those going.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Maybe starting new businesses, like what other businesses can you add on that wouldn't require a lot of your time and effort, but would have like a really good ROI.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: We're gonna talk about that.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: And let's say you want to know some things about taxes and tax strategy.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: I just happen to know the guy.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I might bring on my husband and he can talk to us about some tax strategies.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Him and I actually partner up with um some of my coaching clients that we do kind of like a combo where he does their bookkeeping and counting tax stuff, and then I get their reports and I go over their stuff.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: So, how many of you look at your PL reports every month?
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, I do, but I also look at them for all my clients too.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: So if you don't, that's something we can talk about too is you know, what do we need to look at our PL reports?
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: What do we need to like prepare for the beginning of the year, the end of the year?
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: I mean, I personally plan out all my marketing for a year at a time, so we'll be discussing that.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: I have a lot of just little tips and um ideas, and while I don't know everything, I want to just give you guys in our podcast community some little tips, like think of it like little bite-sized nuggets for you.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: I would prefer my podcast to be like 15 to 20 minutes, and the reason is that's how long my commute is.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: I love listening to podcasts that are short, sweet, to the point.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: And that's literally how I live my life.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: I'm a very direct person.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: Here's what you need to know, here's how to do it.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Boom, let's make some money.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: I will throw in some crazy things.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: So, fun fact about me is I do love like 80s, not more 90s, 2000s rap.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna be playing some music in here.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Don't worry, I won't sing or dance.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna talk about business, life.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: I am also um a certified um intuitive life coach.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: So if we need to bring some of that in, we will.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: And I do want to bring in some special guests.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: So I know I mentioned my husband, Antoine, also goes by AJ.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: I will be bringing him on as a guest at some point because he has a lot of knowledge, but I also have a lot of friends and a huge network of people who would love to give back and just putting on clips of like 15 to 20 minutes of specific things and maybe some specific ways to implement things.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: That I think is gonna be key to this podcast.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: So I'm super excited.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: And if you guys ever have any questions or you want to reach out to me and you have suggestions that I haven't come up with, let me know.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: I'm compiling a list of things, so don't worry, we are gonna get to it.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: And you guys are gonna help keep me accountable to posting my podcast every other week.
- 7:26unknown: Woo!
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: So amongst doing all of these businesses, a little bit of my background.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Um, we live in Indiana, so it's getting chilly, and total between Antoine and I, we have five kids.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Three of them live with us, so 7, 12, and 17 currently.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: So that's an exciting gap.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Um, we'll be talking about how I juggle doing like a lot of the mom things.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Now, granted, I don't have to do everything on my own.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Um, but you know, there's a lot of stuff that there goes involved with kids' things and schools and extracurriculars, and um, our oldest is um going is working now at Chick-fil-A.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna be talking about like just juggling all that stuff too.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: I think this is gonna be a really fun podcast for you guys, and just little tips of things that I've done, learned, and read.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: I'm an avid reader.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: In fact, sitting right next to me is my newest book that I haven't read yet, The Checklist Manifesto.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: So I'll be pulling some tidbits, I think, from a lot of the books that I read, a lot of the audibles I listen to, the podcast.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: I know that I have a lot of friends that do podcasts, and I'm excited to be able to bring them on and like share some tips.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: And if you are interested in starting your own podcast, and we can talk about that, or starting your own business or second business, third business, rental properties, you name it.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: Let's make some money.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: I always tell my kids and family that um I'm a money magnet and I want all this like wealth to flow to me and I give back to.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: I spend money, I make money, it comes back to me.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: I'm attracted to it, it's attracted to me.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna make you guys into money magnets.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: I'm again super excited about the bougie multipreneur, and I look forward to many, a many podcasts with y'all.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Have a great day.
