- 0:00Speaker 1: So daddy Gary, Yes, he's your father, Yes, your surrogate father.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:06Speaker 1: I had a couple of dads, my two dads. He's retired. Now,
- 0:13Speaker 1: when did this happen. I mean, it's been happening slowly
- 0:16Speaker 1: over the last few months.
- 0:17Speaker 2: But he's he's I've met him. It's been happening over
- 0:20Speaker 2: the last ten years, all right.
- 0:21Speaker 1: So he's re re embracing his hobbies. Oh, okay, music's
- 0:27Speaker 1: always been one. He's been in bands, but he's doing
- 0:30Speaker 1: more of that.
- 0:30Speaker 2: He likes whittling, doesn't he Well, he paints.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Oh, and he does stained glass really, and he has
- 0:39Speaker 1: two shops. He has a stained glass shop in his
- 0:42Speaker 1: house in Salt Lake and he has one in Saint
- 0:44Speaker 1: George too.
- 0:44Speaker 3: It's like it's it's the seasonal yes.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Uh. And so he's been making these really cool, like
- 0:51Speaker 1: Tiffany style stained glass lamps. I'm like, I want one
- 0:55Speaker 1: of those. And he said, well, why don't we go
- 0:58Speaker 1: pick out some some glass and I'll make you one.
- 1:01Speaker 1: He's like, I'll take you to my favorite stained glass shop. Okay,
- 1:05Speaker 1: we get in the car and we go down to
- 1:08Speaker 1: Western Art Glass.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Where in the hell is that?
- 1:10Speaker 1: It's like on West Temple and like twenty third south
- 1:15Speaker 1: West Temple in the industrial area over there, Okay, And
- 1:19Speaker 1: we walk in the door and he apparently he's there
- 1:23Speaker 1: all the time. Yeah. And the owner was there and
- 1:29Speaker 1: her name is Alison, and she's sitting there with this
- 1:33Speaker 1: young woman and she's like, oh, this is so exciting,
- 1:36Speaker 1: she said. And I can't remember what the woman's name
- 1:39Speaker 1: was that was sitting with her. She said, this woman
- 1:43Speaker 1: made a documentary about me and it's premiering this weekend
- 1:48Speaker 1: and she's going to enter it into like movie festivals
- 1:51Speaker 1: and stuff like Sundance.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So she made so this young woman that the stained
- 1:56Speaker 2: Glass lady was with, yeah, had made a documentary about about.
- 2:00Speaker 1: The stained Glass Woman. And she said, I'm so excited
- 2:05Speaker 1: and said, well, what's the what's the documentary about? And
- 2:08Speaker 1: she said, well, there's a lot of really cool old
- 2:12Speaker 1: churches in Utah and I've been restoring the stained glass
- 2:17Speaker 1: and the church is. I mean, it's a short, it's
- 2:19Speaker 1: a documentary short. It's like, okay, five to seven minutes long.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Like that's really cool. And I said, you know what,
- 2:27Speaker 1: I said, have you seen the show The Secret Lives
- 2:29Speaker 1: of Mormon Wives. She's like, yes, I said, you know
- 2:34Speaker 1: what really bugs me about that show. So that's the
- 2:38Speaker 1: one where it's the young women and they're all kind
- 2:41Speaker 1: of horrible and sexy. They're horrible and sexy.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Just the way I like them.
- 2:48Speaker 1: But part of that show they have this b roll. Now,
- 2:51Speaker 1: what b roll is is when they're going between action scenes,
- 2:56Speaker 1: there's like a drone footage of the valley were, you know,
- 3:01Speaker 1: just something to help transition. And oftentimes in that show
- 3:06Speaker 1: they will show churches with stained glass windows in them,
- 3:10Speaker 1: and it bugs me because this is the secret lives
- 3:12Speaker 1: of Mormon wives, and Mormon churches don't have stained glass
- 3:17Speaker 1: windows go for that stuff. But because Hulu doesn't know,
- 3:21Speaker 1: they're like, it's they're churchy. We're going to show churchy things. Now, now,
- 3:26Speaker 1: Allison stop me, and she said, some of the things
- 3:29Speaker 1: that I have restored, there are some really cool old
- 3:34Speaker 1: especially downtown here in Salt Lake. They're old wards, you know,
- 3:39Speaker 1: that don't look like every other one. They're actually cool
- 3:41Speaker 1: looking buildings. They have some stains, yeah, but she said,
- 3:46Speaker 1: you're right, mostly they don't. She said, however, and she
- 3:49Speaker 1: kind of looks back and forth. She's like, I'm not
- 3:51Speaker 1: really supposed to talk about this and I think I
- 3:54Speaker 1: can talk about it because this show's premiering in a
- 3:56Speaker 1: couple of days. She said, Secret Lives and Mormon Wives
- 4:00Speaker 1: hired me to make stained glass windows for their set.
- 4:05Speaker 1: So they do they do confessionals, so like we're all
- 4:10Speaker 1: being horrible in Macy's kitchen to each other and then
- 4:15Speaker 1: they break off and then talk caddy about each other
- 4:17Speaker 1: privately on this confession And she showed me pictures of
- 4:22Speaker 1: these real stained glass windows she made for They're huge,
- 4:27Speaker 1: five feet tall, really stained glass windows for the for
- 4:31Speaker 1: the set. She was very excited that they will be
- 4:34Speaker 1: featured on Secret Lives of Mormon And as you say.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I want one of those, I do.
- 4:41Speaker 1: She's just a cool lady. So that's Allison at Western
- 4:47Speaker 1: Western Art Glass And uh, but it made me think
- 4:53Speaker 1: we might want to get Victoria involved. This show, Secret
- 4:57Speaker 1: Lives of Mormon Wives is the most popular.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Show on Hulu.
- 5:03Speaker 1: On it it's number it's their number one show.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Really, and I know.
- 5:09Speaker 1: You guys hate this kind of nice stuff, but I
- 5:15Speaker 1: kind of think we might want to get Victoria involved.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I mean, I'll watch it and I can I know,
- 5:23Speaker 1: won't you watch it for that? Now?
- 5:25Speaker 3: And which one is Victoria watching for us now, it's uh.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Well it's Real Housewives, which is which actually just got renewed.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Which is the franchise.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And for people that are like, I hate that you
- 5:36Speaker 1: guys do this, this is like local pop culture that
- 5:39Speaker 1: we really should be paying attention. Yes, it's horrible, it's
- 5:42Speaker 1: all horrible, but we really should be its attention.
- 5:46Speaker 3: It's like the Mammoth. We need to be paying attention
- 5:49Speaker 3: to hockey. I'm not a hockey fan, but you know,
- 5:52Speaker 3: but mammoth.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Oh maybe Secret Lives of More of a Mormon Wife.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Season two is coming back back on May fifteenth, so
- 6:01Speaker 1: next week.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Malachi the Mammoth Maliki. Yeah.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Somebody says Western Art glass is amazing. My mom and
- 6:08Speaker 1: I have been shopping there for glass for decades. Allison's
- 6:10Speaker 1: the best.
- 6:11Speaker 2: She's a hoot. I just I wonder why people, you know,
- 6:15Speaker 2: why are people buying glass to.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Make stained glass to us?
- 6:21Speaker 2: And you just sort of you put it together with
- 6:23Speaker 2: solder and yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean Daddy Gary's been
- 6:28Speaker 2: making like little suncatchers and like yard art.
- 6:32Speaker 1: You can make, you know, metal things that you stick
- 6:36Speaker 1: in your yard.
- 6:37Speaker 2: And I'm not much of a hobbyist. That's what you know.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I don't. I've tried to have hobbies in the past,
- 6:45Speaker 2: but I can't. I just can't do. What did you try, Well,
- 6:47Speaker 2: I tried to challenge coins. Oh yeah, I've still that.
- 6:50Speaker 2: I've got I've got a hundred challenge coins, but I
- 6:52Speaker 2: don't display them or anything. They're just in a bag,
- 6:55Speaker 2: in a drawer or something.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Yeah, you really should get a hobby.
- 6:59Speaker 2: What, Well, I don't a hobby.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Haven't you ever been interviewed and somebody says, well, what
- 7:04Speaker 1: sort of hobby do you need an answer for that
- 7:07Speaker 1: when they see do you have?
- 7:08Speaker 2: Well, maybe I don't know. Maybe I'll become a cobbler,
- 7:12Speaker 2: make shoes. That'd be a good hobby, would I'll be
- 7:15Speaker 2: a cobbler.
- 7:16Speaker 1: I want to call for cobbling these days? Well, you know,
- 7:19Speaker 1: Jimmy has that friend that opened that shoe.
- 7:25Speaker 2: You know who is a cobbler? Really is Daniel day Lewis?
- 7:29Speaker 2: For real? Yes, for real? He makes shoes?
- 7:32Speaker 1: Huh, because because of course he does.
- 7:35Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, I think he said he's
- 7:38Speaker 2: retiring and that's what he's going to do full time,
- 7:40Speaker 2: is make shoes.
- 7:43Speaker 3: There was a cobbler my dad would take his boots
- 7:46Speaker 3: to to get repaired all the time. And it was
- 7:49Speaker 3: it was, it was on. He was on Spanish Fork
- 7:51Speaker 3: Main Street, and the guy was deaf, and it was
- 7:56Speaker 3: so funny to see my dad interacting with him, because Dad,
- 8:00Speaker 3: I would say.
- 8:01Speaker 4: I need you to replace the soul and I'm like, Dad,
- 8:05Speaker 4: he can't hear you.
- 8:07Speaker 2: You're yelling. He can't hear you.
- 8:09Speaker 1: He's not hard of hearing. He's deaf.
- 8:10Speaker 2: He's deaf. You just need to let him look at
- 8:13Speaker 2: your lips, just speak clearly. You don't need There's there's
- 8:18Speaker 2: the village cobbler right up by Dan's up there.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I've taken shoes there to get fixed.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I like the way it smells in there, and it's yeah,
- 8:27Speaker 2: the stain like that chemical. I remember that smell. I
- 8:30Speaker 2: remember that.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Somebody's saying Bill should take up knitting. He would fit
- 8:33Speaker 1: nicely into the knitting community.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Knitting community, maybe have brace And then I could say
- 8:38Speaker 4: to you, tend to your knitting, just for that reason that.
- 8:45Speaker 2: It is knitting is crocheting is easier, isn't it? Well,
- 8:49Speaker 2: Katie can teach you how to crochet. She does. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:52Speaker 2: is it easier than knitting? Is it easier because knitting
- 8:56Speaker 2: you have to use two. Would you make me a doily?
- 9:00Speaker 2: If Katie will teach me to crochet, I'll make you
- 9:03Speaker 2: annoy any lea for my coffee cup.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Would you please for the studio to be just from
- 9:08Speaker 3: right here and I'll feel fancy?
- 9:10Speaker 1: All right?
- 9:12Speaker 2: I look forward to seeing this lampy it's done. How
- 9:17Speaker 2: much is he charging you for it?
- 9:19Speaker 1: Because he loves me?
- 9:20Speaker 2: What sucker you know,
