- 0:29SPEAKER_02: Slip back for that.
- 0:30SPEAKER_02: And oh yeah, maybe last time I checked in the well, the Canada PlayStation show.
- 0:35SPEAKER_02: Go and get your cover tea and your Vickies.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: I love saying that.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: I said that last time.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: Let's get on with the show.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: So we are here for Finals Fever in the Australian Football League from the South Australia League of National League and the Australian Football League Finals.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: Let's welcome Aidan.
- 1:15SPEAKER_02: Welcome.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's been a long time, mate.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Yes, it has.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: And we are back for the finals.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: We've got, as you say, we've got the AFL and the sample finals to cover today.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: So let's get straight into the program.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: Alright, so how are we gonna start?
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: We are gonna start with just that Australian National Football League.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: We spoke offline, we're on the line for the air.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: So it's been a final series all now forget.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: I might add in to the juniors because you know, even we don't really speak about that.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: Just grand final only.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: I did share that last time.
- 1:47SPEAKER_02: I was Glenel, 16s and 18s, Crater Lazen's North Adelaide, and to, if I can call my memory, Woodsville West Towns Fever in the finals.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: You know how many times these two met in finals?
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: Three times.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: How do you meet in the finals?
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: I'm talking, is this like old time or is this No, no, no.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: From the league?
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: From the league, from the reserves, now a grand final.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: From the under 18th grand final, then you look back over the inhalation quarter five final, the st yeah, inhalation final, st.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: We'll get to that.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: Figured out how many tiny two met.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: Almost like they hate each other on the football field.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: But Craig to Nazin shoot Glen Elk, Brackwoods Woodville, and Glen Elk under 16th.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: So moving forward into our fourth, before we move into our major league, Craig to Ladies and Sue South Adelaide, 150th reserves in the granny.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: It's been a long time.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: So I know we don't want to talk too much about the reserves, but what's your thoughts about having, you know, an a team that has struggled for years improving from West Adelaide?
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: I've got to say we can like how much I thought they're going to beat Woodsville, but the improvement of that, your thoughts, how much amazing to see like South LA make the Grand Final Aiden.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: It's 150 years of the South Adelaide Football Club this year.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: So making any premiership, you know, or grand final team in a year like that is slightly bigger for a club who, just like West Adelaide, who have had their recent struggles in the last sort of 30, 40, 50 years, you know, that that's a big thing for those clubs because we we get so used to having the same sort of teams up there, your Gornells, you know, your Sturge, your Norwich, your Centrals up in the in the grand finals, in the preliminary finals.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: So you have West Adelaide in league finals, you had to have South Adelaide in Reserves Grand Final.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: You know, that's big for those clubs.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: When we talk about West Adelaide, we'll talk about why for them.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: But it's also big for the league because it's getting now a little bit of a shift in power, and those bigger clubs aren't the ones in control as much anymore.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: The smaller teams, even Woodville, West Torrents had a good run this year.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: So those second-level clubs, those teams that normally do struggle and only get a couple of finals appearances every decade, are coming up.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: So Sample is in a really good place when this starts to happen.
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: And I'll I'll finish up.
- 4:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, quite relations to South Adelaide Reserves.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Look, the league has improvement.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: I will give them that.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: They'll look pretty strong.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Hopefully, more and more to come.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: Are not this league with South Adelaide, but I think they can get a better, you know, get better against good sides.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: They can do well.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: Now, West West Adelaide, and I know this appointed Aiden move on, you know.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: I think next season look out.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: The Nathan Bassets gave you the right direction, being got good players, players want to come to West Adelaide.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: Not just the Nathan Bassett, I think it's just bring some excitement into the club.
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: Yes, I'm a Nord supporter, but I do have respect.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: But talking with centrals, you know, yes, they have struggled over the you know, two years ago they made a quarter final and then they're born up the ladder.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: So there's a you know culture, players leaving, you know, close to lines of the Paul Thomas, a former central player, post the dogs, you know, known as the dog in the sample in Adelaide.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: That's common for, but it's the central district.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: So we're done our thoughts, you know, best of Glenel, but I really love the South LA win apprenticeship.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: I cannot send Glenel.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: No offense, whoever is a Glennell supporter.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: In the lens for you now.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: They're gonna hit us and they're gonna come for us.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: We're dead.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: Well, there's so much on the line here, Aiden, and we're gonna go zooming through two to we get to a nets.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: We're breaking it down.
- 5:42SPEAKER_02: We start with the inhalation final week with Nord having the break.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: Let's get there now.
- 5:47SPEAKER_02: Alright, Aiden, take it away.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: Alright, and the elimination final.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: So we're gonna start with the elimination, elimination final between Woodaville, West Torrens and West Adelaide.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: Now, for me, West Adelaide supporter, being being in the finals is is a big accomplishment for the club.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: Obviously, we have Nathan Bossett as a new head coach.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: That's that's a huge, huge pickup that we had in the off-season.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: But for for West Adelaide, what they've what they've been through this season, I'm not even gonna worry about the result.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: The result can come after.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: But the club would have flooded in June.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: This is a club who couldn't play half their games at Richmond Oval for half the season.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: And this is a club that, as I said, normally does struggle in the sample.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: And when when everything was against West Adelaide this year, they found a way.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: They didn't have a really good first half again, but come to the second half, suddenly the the light bulb went on for them.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Suddenly, West Adelaide were like, you know what?
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: We didn't have a club.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: Our club's underwater, but we're not gonna go underwater.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: We're not gonna, we're not gonna sink.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: We're gonna swim and we're gonna see how far we can swim.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: And they lose to Woodville West Turns, 10, 767 to 814.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: Should have done a better job in front of goals.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: If they did, they win that game quite comfortably.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: But for me, it's it's this is cool.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: This club's been through a lot this year.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: So just getting to the finals and being there and being in the game is a big tickoff.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: Next year they're gonna come back a lot stronger with a new with new club rooms, well, rebuilt club rooms, the unflooded club room, and Nathan Bassett as the coach.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no.
- 7:21SPEAKER_02: Look, I went to the I went to both games and we'll break it down with the first in the nation final, Woodsville and West Adelaide, and then move on to I think it was such a one of the best finals, even North having a week off.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: Enjoy it.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: But look, like you said, West Alade did have opportunities.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: They they rushed, they panicked, they had set shots, beautiful conditions.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: So a lot of them have not experienced finals, first timers and experiences.
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: So credit, you know, Woodsville, big winners here, you know, take it or leave it.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: We know that it's an improvement for West LA.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: Yes, I didn't realise I went down to the inclusive grand final Kilburn and well, it's Goodswood and Kilburn.
- 8:07SPEAKER_02: They made it up, made a mistake on the scorecard at the Oval, which I won't regret that in a big way.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: But I was trying to work out why they were in like not like Calvin sheds.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: I can't like they're in poor they're in portable buildings, that's what it is.
- 8:23SPEAKER_02: Yes, but I know they weren't, yeah, short-term offices, you know, that's kind of yeah, but they're changed room.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: But anyway, but we know that West Adelaide wanted more, they've proven they want it more.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: Nathan Bassett will be, you know, with disappointment, but with Woodville, they want it more.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: They take the win.
- 8:43SPEAKER_02: Alright, well done to Woodville West Times.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: West Adelaide, all the best for the off your off season of 2D.
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: One, I think one of the best gains is between Glen Elk and moving on to our qualified final, the winner attacks on North Red Legs.
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: Oh wow.
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: The losers won go the attack on Woodville West Times.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: Now, what can I say about this one?
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: Glen Elk came out of the block.
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: Sturt had to work their butt off to move on to this box.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: Well, 12 12, 84, 13, 6, 80.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: What's it say?
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: 84 to 86.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: That makes more sense.
- 9:25SPEAKER_02: Anyway, Sturt was the winner.
- 9:27SPEAKER_02: They'll take Nord, Glenelg, and Woodsville.
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: There's no doubt about that.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: Well understood.
- 9:34SPEAKER_02: They'll be ahead against Nord, Glenelg have and I've gone one step further to the well, twenty final.
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: We're not gonna get there just yet.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: If you all know what's going on, well yeah.
- 9:44SPEAKER_02: We're just doing a review of the finals, obviously the big dance.
- 9:47SPEAKER_02: But look, Sturt the Rain Plenty.
- 9:50SPEAKER_02: They find ways, good teams find ways, challenges find ways, like Glenel, but I can't hold on a third quarter.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: Interesting fact that plenty of friends go for both of these sides.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: And guess who I was going for?
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: Sturt.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: Anyway, but the reason why because I wanted this make my mate Hugo proud as well, if he's listening to this.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: And I know that if Nor going to the AF4 for some random reason, I will have to go on for West Sturt.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: Anyway.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: I I actually like this bit about you going for West something, as long as I've tried with Adelaide and not West Horne.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: Well, if I had a mother club and Harpstone, I could have to go on West West LA.
- 10:31SPEAKER_02: That's an all shoe go.
- 10:32SPEAKER_02: But I don't mind both clubs.
- 10:33SPEAKER_02: They're not, they're not, they just can't, you know.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: But look, how how this started, and I'll give you a thoughts as well, Aiden.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: I think.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: All the above, that second quarter was one of the hardest quarters.
- 10:45SPEAKER_02: None, it was a very defensive quarter.
- 10:48SPEAKER_02: Dan it was just all stur sturt.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: There's absolute six goals to three in the last quarter, and it was only two points.
- 10:55SPEAKER_02: Glenel final way.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: So there's believe and trust, and both hubs want to win this and Sturt hold a hold-on victory.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: My thoughts are done, Aiden.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: Well, oh well.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: I can't wait until the net.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: Well, the semi-final and the qualified final will share that very soon, but I'll let you share your thoughts between Glenelg and Sturt.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, for me, this was another one of those games where I I just look at the final score and I look at the the scoreboard and the scoreware, you know, on the sample side.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: And Glenel should have closed this game off got uh half time.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: They they they played the better first half and then played the worst second half.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: And I don't like Sturt, obviously they come out of the block really well to start in that third quarter, but Glenil Glenil could have stopped that.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: Glenel could have stopped that.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: And then they can't they can't count it.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: They don't they don't stop the rot.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: They start amassing behind.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: And end of the day, you lose you lose by two points.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: Even later in that fourth quarter, they get they get a goal back and then they get a point, then they get another point, and then that's the difference.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: That's the difference.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: And I get then we get a goal and then instead get a point to win by three points.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: That's all that's all it is.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: That's that's really all it is.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: This is how thin the margins are in finals football.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: Is you have one missed kick, you don't think it's gonna kill your game, but it does.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: This isn't round 13 anymore.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: This isn't come back next week and give it a go.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: This is if you if you miss this shot, you you are playing a different team next week, and a different team has a different ambition.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: So, for Glennell, I think opportunities were there, opportunities were wasted just like West Adelaide.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: And I think from week one of the sample finals, the best two teams, or two teams that deserve to go through.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: Alright, here we are for week two of the sample finals.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: So semi-final week as it's listed in your local guides.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: Oh god, that that's old that's old school.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: That's old school ABC.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: Check your local guides.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: But we're gonna start with Bays and Woodville.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: And again, another, another great game, but talking about the ABC would have been on one of those Sandful highlights VCRs that they put out at the end of the season, if you can remember then.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: They they were they were the dirty backs in the 90s and early 2000s.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: But again, another game, even bigger lead for the base to squander this week.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: You know, they they're all over Woodville.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: It's up they're up five goals at one point in the first quarter time.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: They're up by five goals against Woodville.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: And then Woodville just keep pegging them back slowly, a little bit here, a little bit there.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: Then again, the big landslide happens in the third quarter for the Bay.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: So, you know, Woodville again, goal, goal, goal in the start of the third quarter, and then Bailey's again responding with points and final quarter again, just run into the opposition for Glenelg.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: So, you know, they had two opportunities to get an up to game get a game against Norwich, and they blew both of them.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: And Glenel have to live with that now.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: That these were great games on on TV.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: But if you're in black and yellow, you go for black and yellow, you are ruining your missed opportunities, knowing that a date with Norwood was one kick of the football away both times.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: For Woodville, they took the Sturt blueprint and they did it again.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: They figured out Connell's weakness was start hot in the third quarter, and they will not go with you, and that's exactly what they did.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: They found the you know, what Sturt did last week was stay in the game, stay in the game, stay in the game.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: Run over him.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: Half time, run over him.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Woodville, get it again there.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: That's why Woodville said to move on.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: We'll move to the second game, the grand final qualifier between Norwood and Sturt.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: Now, this one was again, you know, close to a point.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: It wasn't exactly the greatest game of all time.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: It ended Norwood 1858 to Sturgs, 5'9.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: But, you know, it was a hard fought battle.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: It may not have been a close game on the school seed, but it was definitely a game played in the midfield and played between the 50s.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: Norwood just able to get ahead.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: They were up like three goals at halftime and then just stretched that lead in the last quarter.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: I think it was a point scored for the second half of the final quarter.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: So it ended up, you know, the final quarter being four points to Norway, three points to Sturt, and that was the game.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: So three-quarter time, three-quarter game, that was basically the end of it.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: Norwood, ahead all game, they get the job done, they go play in the grand final, they get a week off again, tickets booked for the biggest Sunday in Adelaide.
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: Then over to you.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: Here we are for week two of the Sanfall Finals, so semi-final week as it's listed in your local guides.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: Oh god, that that's old that's old school.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: That's old school ABC.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: Check your local guides.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: But we're gonna start with Bays and Woodville.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: And again, another another great game that talking about the ABC would have been on one of the most Sanford highlights VCRs that they put out at the end of the season, if you can remember then.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: They they were they were the guard out in the 90s and early 2000s.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: But again, another game, even bigger lead for the base to squander this week.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: You know, they they're all over Woodville.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: It's up, they're up to five goals at one point in the first quarter time.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: They're up by five goals against Woodville.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: And then Woodville just keep pegging them back slowly, a little bit here, a little bit there.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: Then again, the big landslide happens in the third quarter for the Bay.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: So, you know, Woodville again, goal, goal, goal in the start of the third quarter, and then Bays again responding with points and final quarter again, just run into the opposition for Gleng.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: So, you know, they had two opportunities to get an up to game get a game against Norwoods, and they blew both of them.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: And Gleng have to live with that now.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: That these were great games on on TV.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: But if you're in black and yellow, you go for black and yellow, you are ruining your missed opportunities, knowing that a date with Norwood was one kick in the football away both times.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: But Woodville, they took the start blueprint and they did it again.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: They figured out Anel's weakness was start hot in the third quarter, and they will not go with you, and that's exactly what they did.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: They found that, you know, what Sturt did last week was stayed in the game, stay in the game, stay in the game.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: Right over him.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: Halftime, right over them.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: Woodville, did it again there.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: That's why Woodville said to move on.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: We'll move to the second game, the grand final qualifier between Norwood and Sturt.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: Now, this one was again, you know, close to a point.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: It wasn't exactly the greatest game of all time.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: It ended Norward 1858 to Sturt, 5'9 39.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: But, you know, it was a hard fought battle.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: It may not have been a close game on the school school sheet, but it was definitely a game played in the midfield and played between the 50s.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: Norwood just able to get ahead.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: They were off by three goals at halftime and then just stretched that lead in the last quarter.
- 17:29SPEAKER_01: I think it was a point scored for the second half of the final quarter.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: So it ended up, you know, the final quarter being four points to Norway, three points to Sturt, and that was the game.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: So three-quarter time, three-quarter game, that was basically the end of it.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: Norwood, ahead all game, they get the job done, they go play in the grand final, they get a week off again.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: Tickets booked for the big Sunday in Adelaide.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: Ben, over to you.
- 17:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, cheers, Aiden, and some really good bats.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: Now, I think I was getting back to our chat and I'll move on.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: It's Glenel confidence.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: And that's all started against West Adelaide.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: Now I want to share this earlier, but didn't come to mind till now.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: So, how much that a team wants to play finals and more confidence than losing confidence with injuries, you know, struggle, age, uh happened.
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: So, so yeah, so oh what what can I say about the first game between Glen Elg and Woodford West Torrens?
- 18:33SPEAKER_02: Woodford West Torrens taking the win, four points.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: Glenelg, see you later.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: No one's doing business with you.
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: Hopefully you will find yourself in a position to rebuild yourself and be like a what's to say South Adelaide.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: Almost actually thinking West Adelaide, ha ha ha.
- 18:56SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no.
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: Look, Woodsville West Times that they're finding ways to win games, and hopefully take on the loser of Nord and Stern.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: That's where we are, that's where we are.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, what a game.
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: This was a like I did mention, it wasn't the best of the best.
- 19:15SPEAKER_02: 19 points, you win by one point, 99 points, doesn't matter at all, it's a win.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: Good crowds, actually, I've got to say, a great crowd between these two games.
- 19:27SPEAKER_02: I did not really watch the Glenel and Woodville, I mainly watch the Nord Sturt game.
- 19:33SPEAKER_02: And over the two weeks, it was a true solid, you know, battle by battle.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: I gotta say right now, Nord will we like I'm not I'm more than anything but shock how they finish top, and then else you've been top that Nord just keeps on winning and winning.
- 19:55SPEAKER_02: So we'll share the next final series very soon, and boy, oh boy, we're gone really, it was all a 10 one more than the other.
- 20:06SPEAKER_02: There's injuries we'll be sharing very soon.
- 20:09SPEAKER_02: We have the Sturch and Woodville West Hines.
- 20:12SPEAKER_02: Here we go.
- 20:13SPEAKER_02: Alright, now we're done out.
- 20:15SPEAKER_02: We're we went into it.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: One week to the big dance, two big rhyll-heavy rhinals are coming your way.
- 20:22SPEAKER_02: And boy, in football, it's very different than any other sports.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: Sturts, Woodville West Hines credit to Woodville, just a bit offline.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: Sturt 53 point victories, injuries come to sturt.
- 20:35SPEAKER_02: That doesn't really matter.
- 20:36SPEAKER_02: Sturt is still a solid good side.
- 20:39SPEAKER_02: Interesting news, actually, New Man and Mattna used to pay for sturt, but the Nord cut had to pay for Sturt.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: I do not know that.
- 20:47SPEAKER_02: My dad will say, you do now.
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: Don't know why he says that.
- 20:51SPEAKER_02: He knows exactly what I meant.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: Anyway, moving for a look.
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: Credit to Woodsville overall taking up against the 2025 running 20s, Sturt Double Blues.
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: I knew that Woodsville season will come to an end.
- 21:04SPEAKER_02: Beat the runners up from last year for Glenn Squanelb, beat an improvement with Adelaide.
- 21:09SPEAKER_02: So it's been a very, very interesting but if Sturt loves to get points, like I will shared, nothing wrong with your AF13.
- 21:18SPEAKER_02: May as well just get points and goal to win games.
- 21:21SPEAKER_02: It's not soccer.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: Moving on.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: Look, who you cannot say that Nord and Sturt have a day and they have not, I am my recording, 1978.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: It's the last time these two met.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: I could be wrong.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: People know that the Love Deaths uh from Adelaide and the Nord and Sturt will know exactly when these two met and will share that very soon.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: Okay, Aiden, it's time for your thoughts.
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: Sturt and Woodville.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, thank you, Ben.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this was um I don't know what to really make of this.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, Sturt just the the better team.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: The the the much better team on the day, the more the much better team really in general.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: You know, Woodville had a good run, they really dip but just not able to just get enough points early to try trouble stir and again it was you know Woodville just snuck ahead at half time and then that was it.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: That was it.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: Stant were done with them.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: Stant were throwing throwing me down the stairs.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: They were they they had a Woodville playing around.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: Just much more composed, much more controlled second half from Stir.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: But they were do a lot of what they want to do.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: And this was really the real big performance from Stir from the finals I think.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: You know, just obviously playing they they played some better teams.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: I played North I played on but just taking this win in as the win that's going to take you to a grand final is different from where they were a couple of weeks ago against Winnell and where they were last week against Norwood.
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: So this makes it really interesting.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: As you said Ben 1978 I think were the last time these two men in a grand final then we have this year 2026.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: I I honestly it's it's close to collate I think both ways about it.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: Like some days I go Norward some days I go stir but I don't know I right now today I'm thinking Stir.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: I really am.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: I don't know why but I just think that that win going to a grand final is what's going to carry you through the next four quarters of football.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: A lot more than having a game where because I said Norworth last game again was against Stir and no one scored last end of the fourth quarter only seven points in that last quarter for that game.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: That's what Norwich has to bring into the game.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: Sturt brings in this this sample of their body of work throughout the year there they've now flipped that switch and I think that's what's going to take Sturt over the line.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: So we'll make it end it up with our wrap up for the 2026 host plus final reviews thank you Aidan for your thoughts from the knockouts the second knockout the the winner into the big dance grand final was one more chance for the other chance and then Nord and Stir.
- 23:52SPEAKER_02: It's good and how much I can say you're saying Stir unsaying Nord that's our thoughts alright moving on to the AFL.
- 23:59SPEAKER_02: Done with the SNFL host plus all the best between Nord and Sturt.
- 24:04SPEAKER_02: Moving on to the Strain Football league we are going to fly into our quarterfigh finals the winner we're going to the quantity final the winner and the loser I was going to say as that one step the winners of the Walk was Carlton and they'll be playing along Aiden I'll share your your thoughts right now take it away.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: Alright so we're going to go all the way back to West Australia.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: We're going to go to one of the biggest shocks if not the biggest shock of you know probably the finals of the last couple of years.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: I think the last you know the last couple of years of finals have been very sort of step by step follow the dogs but this certainly threw something into the mix here at Optus Stadium on the Thursday night qualifying ball with Rand Freeman and Hawthorne.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say West Coast for a second but I pulled myself up 3-0 510 40 Hawthorne 7 72 1012 score for them so four four four free man just you know they they got off they got off to a hot a hot start they kicked the first goal of the game then that that was it for free man that was it for us one goal and then really Hawthorne just able to just settle into their patterns settle into their game and this is how I expected Hawthorne to play I even said to my uncle he goes to the Hawks you know I think you know three whatever Freo does Hawthorne will just settle into their patterns and Frill may find it really hard and and that's what happens.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: Like Hawthorne you know four goals to quarter time six goals to halftime still one to three-o and then three in the third one the last one the last play so game from from pretty much quarter time the the lead hell so you know Hawthorne just did the job there.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: Nick Watson showed up did a bit did a lot more than a bit did the whole job got Hawthorne third to a free win.
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: Frio lose at home have a semi-final again at home they play the winner of Cats and Blues and they need to start better.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: They need to be better than what they started against Hawthorne otherwise their finals are done.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: Let's get straight to that second game let's get straight to the game between the Geelong Cat and the Carlton Blues and Geelong just you know Chris Scott working his magic again because he is a coaching magician we call Nick Watson the wizard well Chris Scott is the sorcerer.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: He pulls rabbits out of hack when he needs to first half Carlton were well just ahead in the game just just finding ways Geelong was able to get forward pressure but not convert into scores and then the sorcerer does his magic and second half it's just it's just all cash.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: It goes from four goals to five at half time to 1423 to 118 at full time as the cannabis start well they win this 107 to 74 10 10 points four goals 10 points in the final quarter for Geelong though that needed to be cleaned up going forward Carlton they've been playing to for their season every week and eventually they just run out of gas and that's really what the got drawing over the line here in this one.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: So that is your first semi-final set between Fremantle and Geelong.
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: Ben over to you thank you Aiden and absolutely so we'll share I'm gonna go backwards now I'm gonna go to the Geelong and Carlton now two Victorian tens one you can expect good 20 feet behind Aiden.
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: I mean that's worse than Fremantle when they play at home it doesn't matter when you win this isn't the thing is yeah when you win you can throw wherever I put the board the job's done throwing anything up absolutely so you can say that if I can Nazi stick yeah 15 points you know that could be a lot of rushes out there but Joel brought the 33 point Carlton like you said you know talk they're getting a lot done for the season for Josh Fraser well done being coach and future for the Carl Blues with Scott's well big winners here.
- 28:00SPEAKER_02: So how it all actually happened is Carlton came out out of the blocks and then John being Geelong that kicked very well in the third quarter and then it was just well alright let's just say alright it was four straight for the blues so you know it it's finals you know and it happens I think Geelong we gained some really good confidence after that week off from the wildcard Carlton well effort and well done in your season Geelong all the best in the West well I've got to say moving into the first and like you said it is a shock they didn't get more points after very low score and the and first loss for the season.
- 28:40SPEAKER_02: So you learn from the losses they say finals is a different season.
- 28:44SPEAKER_02: It is not a regular season you have a sold out you get your whatever they have in the in perfect you can sham the aid and with this wherever Free Android has their culture.
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: It's a new thing this year.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: I can't even think of it right now.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: You know what it is?
- 28:57SPEAKER_01: Well good old Wolfie.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah it's wolfy time now I I'm the one understanding all Unfortunately for for three hours hockey time on the thirst date high yeah no I I'm still very very very very very ha ha ha anyway Hawthorne big when it's here big I'm very quite the side of those frown tall I still call them purple haze because they're all purple.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: Moving on look similar margin 32 point victories you win by two points you win by 99 you win by a thousand points you win by one point but you win by 32 in the West it is another easy job.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: Hawthorne did it's perfectly accuracy 510 to 1012 basically 32 points.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: Now I gotta say credit to Brantal like I said they started well but Hawthorne find a way to take it in their hands and I said no you're gonna be like Adelaide you're gonna you got one more goal we'll see you in two weeks or maybe the big dance.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: Alright it's time to fly into our second week of the well we got some big upsets we got some no surprises we got the best teens versus the maybe some efforts from the well the LA Crows big winners there over the dogs they traveled to Brisbane with Talabalgers farewell and we have maybe a big mudder groovy victory let's get there now.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Alright here we go Sydney and Brisbane the second qualifying final from the SCG Sydney and I can't believe we've got to this point where the Sydney Swan are the sentimental favourite in the AFL.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: After the last month that that club has had we have reached the point where the big boys of Sydney are the sentimental favourites.
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: They are the sympathy vote.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: They are the I feel bad for that club vote.
- 30:45SPEAKER_01: Anyway, no reason to feel bad about them they absolutely went out and beat the living out of Brisbane to prove a point.
- 30:52SPEAKER_01: Their best players might be gone for the year but their premiership chances are 141 to 88.
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: That is the margins we are talking about Sydney winning this one in the big time by 53 points and it was a game for those who remained Errol Golden all over the place with 34 touches.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: Way to McDonald with six goals for the Swans now Brisbane and this has been my question of Brisbane for the whole year hasn't it what happens to Brisbane?
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: They suddenly they just go out it's just a a switch off it's happened against GWS it happened against Carlton and it's happened here on one of the bigger stages in the qualifying final the switch off happened again.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: Now they have to get back when they play against Adelaide luckily at home at the Gabba in a semi-final because if they have a switch off against Adelaide I don't know I really don't know I really don't want to know but what I do know is that the that whoever loses that game their season is over.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: Their season hits the switch off so Brisbane need to come out ready to go to play Adelaide and the Gabba in the second semi-final talking about the second semifinal are gonna go across Bulldogs 91468 Adelaide far better kicking because they had to win that's all there is to it you know the Cruise they learned their lesson from last year they're all over the place all that rankings available in the finals he has a game General Shelley has three goals for the Crows that's it when R and I connect it's game over you know that it's done so they go to Brisbane they go to Brisbane as a team with the win in their bed but do they go and beat Brisbane?
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: That's the tougher question in Brisbane I I don't think they do.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: I think Brisbane figure it out during the week I think Brisbane have to figure it out during the week because they're the back to back reigning defender can Brisbane bring it back one more time that is a question that we will answer next week.
- 32:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah no thanks Aiden to it there was look Sydney they've had a very you know behind the scenes look they need to send a message out we got we're gonna take on the biggest best of the best in front of this is our supporters let's give them what well what they pay for absolute did the job 53 point victory Brisbane they'll wanna bounce they'll take on the winner of Adelaide and Western Bulldogs like I said like long McDonald's six goals alan Gordon what a season he is absolutely won the best meters game meters game in the AFL this season let's just leave us that but look well done 141 88 big winners to Sydney they'll take a week off Brisbane one more go again to the LA Crows and the Marty Wilson border the doggies look 14 sets plays accuracy to 914 how can I dep take the win one on to many next under pressure take his finals win after seven seasons or six seasons however whatever it is how long he's been at the club he has proven this club he knows the week in week out and I was listening to after the game about like Charlie Cameron amazing respectful you know this was Tyler Walker's final game you know the interesting fact that you should boon anyway in spirits but actually anyone's butt everyone was chilling on Tyler Walker's two goals.
- 34:14SPEAKER_02: So criticise on your career Tyler Walker it's been an absolute absolutely pleasure to share and honour your since you came to the game you pay your 300 against Hollywood you play your first game one was at the MCG one was at home and at all Tation but I'm gonna share you right now some amazing notes 319 games seven yeah 715 career goals with one all stream back in 2023 seven time close lean goalkicker with two AFL EA best captain award so you don't have to have lots and lots of awards to be a good player.
- 34:55SPEAKER_02: Those awards achievable and one is up in the 2017 Grand Final we won't talk about too much of that being a co-captain with Roy uh Sloan.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: So play like Tyler Walker and Balak A will come they'll they'll look really hard in the offseason what teams want to win the Punish come you know teens of players may want to come to Adelaide I think you know get back to it but alright let's move on to our well our next round of semi-finals one in the West one in Queensland let's get in now all right we'll go to the first semi-final between Fremdle and Geelong and this one was as you said Ben a a great high scoring game of football fremd winning this one 1812 120 Geelong 1610 106 and it was free mantle who who played the better game they were they were better from the start they they withstood Geelong's patches of of dominance and then they closed the door so you know at the end of the day free mantle just played so much better than Geelong across the 120 minutes of football 6'2 in the first quarter really just set the tone for the game and then brought it home in the end with that second half performance there.
- 36:04SPEAKER_01: So you know for me free mantle wolfy time no wolfy time something time this that's the the time to show up is now you're not gonna have wolfy time anymore.
- 36:15SPEAKER_01: You're not gonna be at home anymore well you're gonna be sort of at home as the one team if you get a grand final but grand final is usual but you do go to the SCG and you'll be away and you'll be in front of the Sydney supporters and that that'll make it tougher for them for this team.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: I mean they've they've played two finals at home they had one bad game I had one really good game with one game where they found a way through can they find a way through in Sydney we'll talk about that later on but this game here big games for Baltier big games for boss big games for Jackson that's what saw three man over the line so Ollie Henry did his bit Baylor Smith did his but just wasn't enough covery just didn't come with for the Cats as the Dockers get the win in this one.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: Now we go to the second semi final and I don't know I don't know what to say it it's it's over it's it's not just the season for the Crows it's over but it's Taylor Walker's career.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: It's over it it's it's done as you said Ben 319 games 715 goals you know what what a career it's been for for Taylor Walker just you know we wins pre anything there is to win you know in terms of being a a a good a good player but just just never gets it over line never gets that premiership never gets a Coleman but still one of the best unfortunately Adelaide the rest of his team couldn't go within Brisbane had this done inside of seven minutes and this this was the fastest five minutes in the in the history of the NFL seven minutes 31 seconds for five goals on the board game over at that point Adelaide just never found a way into this game never found a response never you know found any sort of form or Philadel could have taken from Western Bordoffs Brisbane totally ran him over the top in that first seven minutes.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: And it's unfortunate because Taylor Walker's had such a great career and just on his last night it just doesn't go his way.
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: Brisbane's midfield wins the whole night Adelaide can't get anything going and Brisbane take this one the 2018 144 Adelaide 1313 91 let's go to the preliminary final alright we got a knockout call semi-finals we got one chance of maybe we got two semi-finals we do we got to the two and one before we go to one absolute we got Geelong ravelling they're not being sexy this time unfortunately it was Free and Tool's time they're not gonna be the LA Cross unfortunately from 2025.
- 38:40SPEAKER_02: I think Free and Tour just a little bit more confident.
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: They learned from they lost they know what they need to do and they did they know what Geelong's weakness is I gotta say right now Geelong scored accuracy.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: They did not score 1423 they scored 1610 and 1812.
- 38:58SPEAKER_02: So it was a high scoring that's what I like to see the old the old football we don't see this it's all about precious speed daddy day da.
- 39:08SPEAKER_02: Anyway look friend it's got a date we'll share that in a moment Geelong season stun is Geelong a still solid side of course but have they got some future of course can Geelong go to rebuilding let's hope even I still support Geelong as for my great uncle look I think it's time for Geelong to go through a rebuilding and so good uh week teen site well I don't like saying it Essendon to beat Geelong for the I will love to see that yes anyway oh well uh next game I think this is more of a thing emotional than anything else that Brisman the old saying is an old spray the morning football world that Brisman a good team they're reiming back to back a bat they learn from their loss and they know now I think we missed actually two other games here Aidan but that's okay that was actually on me anyway oh yeah we did we missed two games so right look it's emotional week for the LA Crows we know how important for Tallawalka well known to Brisbane and how most important you know it's I think being a crow was be a crow but Talawalker will never be forgetting the number 13 will be always in our in our heart that's to say sports thing I don't know where I got that from I think there was a sign on TV about that.
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: But look Adulate Bellwell dungeon Brisbane with a 53 point victory best of luck and they'll take on the two print finals so Aiden let's go back and track and we've shared the last two games between Sydney and Brisbane and Adelaide and Western Borders okay dokie so boy we've we made it we made it two winners we'll make it a big game the most important football Australian football calendar as they call it it is not the Super Bowl it is the Quota AFL grand finals the B yep that's right it's our version of the Super Bowl is but it's Aussie football hopefully I if you know the entertainment I just don't know the the announcer yeah they don't really share that much in a big route they haven't announced it yet yeah so look Sydney and Frianto who should I it's it's one of the biggest host tickets I really wish these two versions show in the GF grand final friend is my tip I'm going to see Sydney to do the job but I think Friental I'm going for the biggest upset I've really I don't get anyone I don't want them winning apprenticeship I want them now knocked out la da no they were they've beaten one of the best greatest old teams in Geelong at home they go to Sydney they're doing the hard way they're gonna take it all the best Sydney now we didn't expect that whore form going to Perth and the absolute shut down wolfy time it is not the hockey time they take on the reigning plenty I will share the breaking news of I actually now remember the entertainment thank goodness it's Australian it is Australian arson by the way and I do like I used I actually still enjoy her music but Hawthorne and Brisbane going the MCG from months ago it was Geelong up against Brisbane and I feel like this has happened twice.
- 42:31SPEAKER_02: Now Geeland I have that booking it is Hawthorne's time over Brisbane.
- 42:36SPEAKER_02: It is actually Brisbane they're gonna tag on France hawk and what a ticket that'll be the breaking news I'm gonna share and I actually have heard this Kylie Malone what a well done hope you do well in your entertainment on the biggest stage in your may oh you may have done plenty of these in your career your singing career but I know you'll do well you're a great artist I enjoy your music but all Aiden it is now time to share your thoughts who you think will make the 2026 Toroda AFL grand final yeah again it's it's it's tough.
- 43:09SPEAKER_01: It's just like the sample I've sort of gone back and forth on both of these games you know I as good as Freo are I'm I'm gonna say as good as Free A and as good as Free A have been Sydney are going to find a way they they're gonna figure it out there you've got the one guy who for he won't say it himself because he's a he won't say it but Dean Cock's been the coach of the Sydney Swan.
- 43:33SPEAKER_01: You have the one guy who will do anything in his power to stop free man or making your grand final as your coach.
- 43:40SPEAKER_01: Meanwhile your CEO is a fault of Freeman and Jasper Pavlett so oh Sydney you have you have the one guy who will do anything in his power to stop free man from winning a premiership and you have the one other guy who knows everything about free manner having played his whole career there.
- 43:58SPEAKER_01: It's funny because if if free man will win and they've beaten a former West Coast player who's coaching Sydney they've beaten their former player who's the CEO of Sydney I just I just don't know why but I just can't see it happening.
- 44:12SPEAKER_01: I re I really just can't see it happening.
- 44:15SPEAKER_01: I think Sydney find a way and it's not gonna be one of these write home about games it's gonna be a grubby blow sad game but Sydney are going to do that on purpose and they're gonna find a way to get Sydney into the AFL grand final and I would go to the other game between Hawthorne and Brisbane and again I've been umming and awing over these teams but I as of as of right now I'm thinking Brisbane.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: I think Brisbane they're the they're the back to back premiers they they belong there.
- 44:47SPEAKER_01: Now don't get me wrong I think Hawthorne can do it.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: I think there is a way Hawthorne can do it but I just don't think that Hawthorne will have that game on Saturday evening.
- 44:58SPEAKER_01: I think that Brisbane are just too well coped the switch has come back on for the Lions Chris Fabian's got one more premiership in him and I think he's gonna will them over the lion so I'm gonna take a Sydney vs Brisbane grand final once again being a pressure football fever finals is here.
- 45:22SPEAKER_02: We shared all the the interest in what a final season we have actually had we did not unfortunately not had time to share the wild card we just did from the out of the five weeks of finals football we only did four three reviews and one preview as well very much with the sample where we went from the knockouts to knockout to qualify knockout to second chance to the two previews.
- 45:50SPEAKER_02: That's all folks we'll see you very soon.
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: Make sure you keep following wherever you get your podcast that's all cheers
