- 0:46Speaker 4: Avid Indorsman.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Hello everyone, Hello, Hello, how are you buddy? I'm doing
- 0:53Speaker 1: very well.
- 0:54Speaker 5: It's a I think, uh, maybe we say it's spring
- 0:58Speaker 5: here in Minnesota.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I don't know it's been you say.
- 1:01Speaker 4: That, but then maybe in the middle of the week
- 1:05Speaker 4: we get ten inches of snow again.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm prepared to be hurt. I don't care.
- 1:09Speaker 5: I kind of like all the weather. So but this
- 1:12Speaker 5: has been fun. The sun is shining. It's very dark
- 1:16Speaker 5: when I get up now though in the morning.
- 1:17Speaker 1: That's weird.
- 1:18Speaker 4: That'll change sud lighter at night when we're very much wetter.
- 1:22Speaker 1: So yeah, I don't know. Life is good. I don't
- 1:25Speaker 1: I don't have too much report for you.
- 1:27Speaker 4: Well, speaking of the weather, it was a little annoying
- 1:30Speaker 4: that it was like twenty degrees cooler today than.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It has been agreed.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Yeah, because I am freshly showered, because I just got
- 1:40Speaker 4: done doing a music video over at Adam Rupp's house,
- 1:45Speaker 4: all fun, and we decided to it was like an
- 1:50Speaker 4: outdoor thing, and had we done it yesterday or the
- 1:54Speaker 4: day before, we would have been in sixty degree weather.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Today today, thirty degrees this morning, and you could see
- 2:04Speaker 4: my breath throughout the whole shoot. I don't know how
- 2:07Speaker 4: that's gonna turn out.
- 2:08Speaker 1: It's kind of a funny little easter egg though.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Maybe we'll see. And we did one shot. We did
- 2:16Speaker 4: Adam shot around like his fire pit.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's right.
- 2:20Speaker 5: He uh.
- 2:22Speaker 4: You know, just just fire pits are neat, but I
- 2:25Speaker 4: hate them so much because it just sticks in my beard. Yeah,
- 2:32Speaker 4: I will smell bonfire for the next three days. Yeah,
- 2:36Speaker 4: but I immediately came home, I took a hot shower,
- 2:39Speaker 4: I like shampooed for a long time, and I still
- 2:44Speaker 4: smell bonfire.
- 2:47Speaker 5: Wow, Yeah, I get that, even in my little tuft
- 2:51Speaker 5: down here.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I feel like I can I can have that, so
- 2:54Speaker 1: I get you.
- 2:55Speaker 4: I'm kind of a bonfire curmudgeon.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Now, Oh bummer.
- 2:58Speaker 4: I know it's a bummer.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Oh what we've be comera. I know because I know.
- 3:03Speaker 4: It's not worth this stinky beard. I tell you that you're.
- 3:08Speaker 5: Like someone talking about like I just can't eat after
- 3:11Speaker 5: six pm, which I am kind of that guy now,
- 3:15Speaker 5: But you know whatever, It's fine.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Dude, in early dinner. I used to give my parents
- 3:20Speaker 4: so much flak for like eating at four point thirty,
- 3:23Speaker 4: and now you're.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Just like, I don't know, it's kind of nice.
- 3:25Speaker 4: It feels nice, like I'm never like full when I'm
- 3:28Speaker 4: going to bed, and I just feel good. I love
- 3:34Speaker 4: an early dinner now getting old, Oh man, proud.
- 3:40Speaker 1: We sure are. We may even we might not even
- 3:42Speaker 1: be getting there. We might.
- 3:45Speaker 4: It's fine. I embrace it, and that's what it is.
- 3:48Speaker 4: But one thing that was fun we got to hang out.
- 3:51Speaker 4: I was gonna say, what was the last movie you watched?
- 3:56Speaker 6: Oh?
- 3:56Speaker 1: I should say that one? Were you not going to?
- 3:58Speaker 5: I wasn't because I'm god good at steph. Why don't
- 4:01Speaker 5: you get us started?
- 4:02Speaker 1: Because I don't even remember what it was now.
- 4:04Speaker 4: I went to the movie theater with with Bugs and
- 4:08Speaker 4: our buddy Post and Dave and I got to meet
- 4:10Speaker 4: Dave's bro and we went and saw the new Bong
- 4:15Speaker 4: June Ho film Mickey seventeen.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yes, of course I should have said this.
- 4:20Speaker 4: You should have said that we should talk about it.
- 4:22Speaker 4: But there were there were mixed reviews between the five
- 4:25Speaker 4: of us.
- 4:26Speaker 1: There was which was kind of fun actually.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Some loathed it, uh and some thought it was cool
- 4:33Speaker 4: like me. It stars Robert Pattinson, who's one of the
- 4:37Speaker 4: cooler actors out there right now. Everything he is doing
- 4:40Speaker 4: is so much fun. Lots of different voices he's putting on.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Really impressed with that guy.
- 4:46Speaker 1: That voice was cracking me.
- 4:48Speaker 4: He gets to show off a lot in this one,
- 4:50Speaker 4: playing multiple characters. Also, Mark Ruffalo was super goofy in
- 4:55Speaker 4: this one. Been enjoying what he's been doing lately as well. Yeah,
- 5:00Speaker 4: Collette was strange in this. She was obsessed with range sauce.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Steven Hun plays an interesting role. The only other actor
- 5:12Speaker 4: I recognized was Naomi Aki, who I most recently saw
- 5:15Speaker 4: in the Blink Twice film. I don't know if you
- 5:18Speaker 4: saw that one.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Oh no, I didn't see that Channing.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Tatum and it's a little scary.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 5:25Speaker 4: She's really good in that film. She was really good
- 5:27Speaker 4: in this one as well. I don't think it's Bong
- 5:30Speaker 4: Juneo's best movie, but I found it entertaining. It's a
- 5:34Speaker 4: sci fi satire that can be a little heavy handed
- 5:38Speaker 4: with some of the themes of capitalism and inequality. But
- 5:44Speaker 4: I appreciated the swing. And it's another super original film
- 5:50Speaker 4: from a pretty great writer director, and I appreciated it.
- 5:54Speaker 4: How did you feel about it?
- 5:56Speaker 5: I think I'm close to you on that. I think
- 5:59Speaker 5: I love that these films are being made. I think
- 6:02Speaker 5: he's just a weirdo in the best ways. Like I
- 6:06Speaker 5: just think they're really it's always going to be something,
- 6:09Speaker 5: you know, like it's gonna be interesting. So yeah, I
- 6:13Speaker 5: enjoyed it. I can kind of see some of the
- 6:16Speaker 5: points about, like.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Well, where were we going?
- 6:18Speaker 5: What was happening? Yeah, I don't know. I mostly enjoyed
- 6:22Speaker 5: the ride, though. I'm with you on that one. He
- 6:25Speaker 5: loves like post apocalyptic food scarcity stuff like that is
- 6:31Speaker 5: very much a part of his He must.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Think about it a lot or something.
- 6:35Speaker 5: I don't know, or maybe he doesn't because he gets
- 6:37Speaker 5: to write these movies about it, but I.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Would imagine he is probably vegan too, by the way, Yeah,
- 6:43Speaker 4: like animal cruelty stuff.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, like he don't.
- 6:47Speaker 5: At least he's like we should be thinking about, you know,
- 6:50Speaker 5: like not factory farm or something.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Yeah, at the very least. Yeah, I hear you on that.
- 6:55Speaker 5: But yeah, overall, I thought it was a silly, fun
- 6:58Speaker 5: movie that did some interesting stuff.
- 7:00Speaker 1: It wasn't like anything I've seen. Yeah, I don't know.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I liked it. I think it's cool and I like
- 7:08Speaker 1: I like the.
- 7:09Speaker 5: That sort of sci fi fantasy setting a lot, so
- 7:13Speaker 5: like didn't have to talk me into that too much,
- 7:15Speaker 5: you know what I mean?
- 7:17Speaker 1: And yeah, everyone was really was really pretty great at
- 7:20Speaker 1: it honestly.
- 7:21Speaker 5: So yeah, it's not one I probably will see like
- 7:24Speaker 5: a ton of times.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Or anything like that.
- 7:27Speaker 5: Yeah, it's certainly no parasite, right, but but what is
- 7:31Speaker 5: I mean?
- 7:31Speaker 1: You know, like but but yeah, I'm.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Just completely different.
- 7:36Speaker 5: Yeah, it felt much more like fun than parasite or something.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 7:42Speaker 5: But good for him, man, he got to get this
- 7:44Speaker 5: crazy cast together and make a really weird, fun movie.
- 7:47Speaker 5: And I bet he had a great time and awesome great.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I love it.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, so I enjoyed it quite a bit. Nice.
- 7:54Speaker 4: Have you been streaming anything fun I have.
- 7:57Speaker 5: I went to Disney Plus and streamed Your Friendly Neighborhood
- 8:02Speaker 5: Spider Man, the animated series that is like pretty new cool.
- 8:08Speaker 4: I haven't even heard about it.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yeah, full disclosure.
- 8:10Speaker 5: I went over there to watch Daredevil and then I
- 8:12Speaker 5: was like, I forgot about this series. I'm gonna check
- 8:15Speaker 5: this out and let a few episodes of Daredevil, you know,
- 8:19Speaker 5: kind of rack up so I.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Can maybe binge him a little bit more on the
- 8:22Speaker 1: weekend or something.
- 8:24Speaker 5: This is a super interesting story. It takes place in
- 8:29Speaker 5: it's you know, it's sort of another dimension again, right,
- 8:32Speaker 5: quantum verse situation, but we get to see Peter in
- 8:37Speaker 5: high school. He's young again, and it's a different storyline,
- 8:42Speaker 5: which is kind of fun.
- 8:43Speaker 1: It's very comic.
- 8:44Speaker 5: Bookie in that it sort of subverts the other storyline
- 8:49Speaker 5: that is, you know, the main canon storyline or whatever
- 8:52Speaker 5: at this point. And yeah, just a bunch of cool
- 8:56Speaker 5: stuff happened in it. It's a little bit more like
- 8:58Speaker 5: I said, comic Bookie and like a little bit more
- 9:02Speaker 5: like the Spider Man cartoon back in the day. I
- 9:03Speaker 5: don't know if you were super into that back in
- 9:05Speaker 5: the day.
- 9:06Speaker 4: I wasn't.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Okay, I liked it a lot, but.
- 9:09Speaker 5: So you get to see a lot more like different
- 9:11Speaker 5: bad guys and stuff like that, a little bit you know,
- 9:14Speaker 5: teen drama in there as well. I really like it.
- 9:18Speaker 5: I think it's been really fun. I think I only
- 9:20Speaker 5: have two episodes left of the first season, and I'm
- 9:24Speaker 5: already on board with like, yeah, please keep making these,
- 9:27Speaker 5: Like what a good way to get some of the
- 9:30Speaker 5: ideas that maybe you wouldn't translate as well to the
- 9:34Speaker 5: you know, to live action, Like why not do them?
- 9:37Speaker 1: You know.
- 9:37Speaker 5: It's it's interesting as well because there's so much Spider
- 9:40Speaker 5: Man content, Like it's not as beautiful as across the
- 9:45Speaker 5: or into the Spider Verse or across the Spider Verse.
- 9:47Speaker 4: You know, it looks like a comic book, yeah, to
- 9:50Speaker 4: picture or you know, yeah.
- 9:52Speaker 5: It's like it's it's almost like I don't want to
- 9:55Speaker 5: say rudimentary, because that's like rude, you know to it.
- 9:57Speaker 1: That's not what I mean.
- 9:58Speaker 5: But yeah, it's a little bit more simplistic, a little
- 10:01Speaker 5: more straight off the comic book page, and it's it's
- 10:04Speaker 5: fun in that medium. It's it's fun in its own right.
- 10:07Speaker 4: So it almost looks like it could have been like
- 10:09Speaker 4: from the nineties, but you can tell that it's.
- 10:12Speaker 5: You know, I think that's kind of what they're going
- 10:14Speaker 5: because they had that like X Men reboot as well,
- 10:17Speaker 5: exactly right, So I think they were just kind of like,
- 10:19Speaker 5: why aren't we doing this? You know, like whatever, and
- 10:22Speaker 5: it really works for me. It's cool, joy quite a lot.
- 10:25Speaker 5: But yeah, there's not like I guess I should have
- 10:28Speaker 5: looked at the castlest.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Moment I saw Coleman Domingo as Norman Osborne.
- 10:33Speaker 5: Yeah, and he's great. I do love him, but he's
- 10:36Speaker 5: like one of the few that I really recognize.
- 10:39Speaker 4: I don't recognize any of those names at all.
- 10:41Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a bunch of you know, voice actors and
- 10:43Speaker 5: things like that for the most part. So but yeah,
- 10:46Speaker 5: really fun check it out. I think you guys would
- 10:49Speaker 5: like it cool and I think you would like it too.
- 10:52Speaker 5: Kids might even Well.
- 10:55Speaker 4: It's like kind of PG. It is language.
- 11:00Speaker 5: There is some you know, there's some violence because he's
- 11:02Speaker 5: like fighting people, but it's nothing too. I don't know,
- 11:05Speaker 5: so hard to say. It might be worth a shot
- 11:07Speaker 5: if you sort of vet some episodes. Yeah, yeah, there's
- 11:10Speaker 5: parts of it they would like for sure. I think nice,
- 11:14Speaker 5: But yeah, how about you?
- 11:15Speaker 4: What even Sterhean I started up the third season of
- 11:19Speaker 4: White Lotus on Max.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I haven't started that yet either. Nice.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Yeah, it's only four episodes in and we have some
- 11:26Speaker 4: more really dysfunctional folks on vacation love it this time
- 11:31Speaker 4: they are in Thailand. We have some new characters. Michelle Monagan,
- 11:37Speaker 4: Carrie Kohn, and Leslie Bibb are a group of friends
- 11:41Speaker 4: dealing with their own like midlife crises. We have Walton Goggins,
- 11:47Speaker 4: who's super moody in this seems real depressed, which is interesting.
- 11:52Speaker 4: Jason Isaacs is married married to Parker Posey and they
- 11:58Speaker 4: play a wealthy couple from the south Mouth and he
- 12:02Speaker 4: might be involved in some sort of crime or something.
- 12:07Speaker 4: We're still figuring that out, okay. And there's some returning
- 12:11Speaker 4: characters from last season as well. Mike White, who created
- 12:15Speaker 4: the show, is an absolute genius. Coming up with the
- 12:20Speaker 4: idea of filming at these beautiful resorts all around the
- 12:23Speaker 4: world and working with great actors is just smart, dude,
- 12:28Speaker 4: What a brilliant guy. I have an idea, hm, maybe
- 12:32Speaker 4: we could shoot in some of the most beautiful locations ever,
- 12:36Speaker 4: that's a way for me.
- 12:37Speaker 1: To live in a five star hotel for the longest.
- 12:40Speaker 4: That for like three months at a time. Where could
- 12:43Speaker 4: we do that?
- 12:44Speaker 1: Could I do? Brilliant?
- 12:46Speaker 4: Dude, that guy has figured it out. Congratulations Mike White.
- 12:51Speaker 5: Yeah, killing it. And he keeps getting like all these
- 12:54Speaker 5: doing anthology style for the most party, gets all these
- 12:57Speaker 5: crazy casts.
- 12:58Speaker 4: Yes, who also wants to.
- 13:00Speaker 5: Take this vacation, so they're probably into it, like amazing,
- 13:04Speaker 5: that's really cool, man. Yeah, I look forward to seeing that.
- 13:07Speaker 5: I've I've liked the first two seasons. Well they're you know,
- 13:11Speaker 5: not always easy to root for everybody.
- 13:13Speaker 4: In them, but they're usual kind of messed up. Yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 4: but they usually have one or two characters that you're like,
- 13:19Speaker 4: oh redeemable.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Right right, Yeah, I love that? Nice? Nice, well, very
- 13:25Speaker 1: good Should we do if you plug arounds?
- 13:27Speaker 4: Yes?
- 13:28Speaker 1: All right?
- 13:28Speaker 5: I guess can follows always over on the Twitter machine
- 13:31Speaker 5: x as slash the Aven Indorsman with a Z. I

- 13:47Speaker 5: Yeah, you never know what we're signing up for next.
- 13:50Speaker 5: But if you really want to hang out and be
- 13:51Speaker 5: part of the crew.
- 13:52Speaker 4: It's about to go patreon dot com slash the Avid Indorsman.
- 13:56Speaker 4: He's right, it's a great time on Patreon. We love

- 14:12Speaker 4: You guys are wonderful. Thanks so much for your patronage.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Another perk we like to give our patrons is an
- 14:19Speaker 4: extended version of every episode that we put out. We'll
- 14:22Speaker 4: do a top five draft that pertains to the movie
- 14:25Speaker 4: we're talking about. And for this one, our guest thought
- 14:29Speaker 4: of it because we are kind of having a hard
- 14:30Speaker 4: time our top five favorite movies that feature a trip
- 14:35Speaker 4: to Vegas.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Amazing. It was a great idea.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Yes, there's so many to choose from, so there really are.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm excited. It should be a fun one.
- 14:46Speaker 4: It should be good.
- 14:47Speaker 1: It should be a fun one, so come check that out.
- 14:50Speaker 5: Yeah, and we're here today to cover a fantastic film
- 14:55Speaker 5: that it's not having an anniversary really, but it did
- 14:58Speaker 5: just win Best Picture, So there's that going for it,
- 15:02Speaker 5: amongst other awards that I'm sure we'll get into. We're
- 15:05Speaker 5: here today to talk about Honora, which is gonna be
- 15:09Speaker 5: real fun. And we had to get our own little
- 15:12Speaker 5: idea generating machine here back with us. She's just the
- 15:17Speaker 5: best in the whole wide world. I don't even have
- 15:18Speaker 5: anything pithy to say. Let's give it up for Sammy Maderante.
- 15:23Speaker 4: What's up, Sammy?
- 15:24Speaker 7: Hi guys, Hi, how are you.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Oh?
- 15:29Speaker 7: I'm doing great. I just got done with therapy.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Oh that's nice.
- 15:33Speaker 5: Is that a happy feeling or like a little bit
- 15:36Speaker 5: rab a little bit of both.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I love it.
- 15:39Speaker 7: That's cool.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Yeah, at least there's nothing going on in the world.
- 15:43Speaker 3: So yeah, no, I had nothing to talk about really so,
- 15:51Speaker 3: but this movie felt very raw as well, so it
- 15:54Speaker 3: felt like fitting.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Yeah, nice, accurate.
- 15:58Speaker 5: This was a movie written and directed by and like
- 16:01Speaker 5: worked on by a lot of people who have been
- 16:02Speaker 5: in therapy.
- 16:03Speaker 4: I feel like, yeah, I feel like.
- 16:05Speaker 1: They were working through some stuff. Perfect well. I love it.
- 16:10Speaker 5: I hope you get some rest and relaxation time, maybe
- 16:13Speaker 5: time to read a book per chance tonight?
- 16:17Speaker 7: Absolutely? You know it?
- 16:18Speaker 6: Oh?
- 16:19Speaker 5: How fun you guys? Can follow Sammy at the reading
- 16:22Speaker 5: Jones on Instagram.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Oh that was seamless, guys, Oh that was goodeamless.
- 16:27Speaker 5: You would tell I was directing us there. You're doing
- 16:31Speaker 5: just all kinds of like book reviews and stuff.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, I've been I've been watching outside of the
- 16:38Speaker 3: book content world for so long, and I just figured
- 16:41Speaker 3: why not. The world's on fire, might as well post
- 16:45Speaker 3: about some nice books.
- 16:47Speaker 1: You're reading them anyway, right?
- 16:48Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 16:52Speaker 1: I love that.
- 16:52Speaker 4: We were just chatting about books before we got on here.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Just a way. It was so fun. It was fun.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Ah, well that's great. Go check that out. And uh,
- 17:02Speaker 5: I don't know what do you guys? Thinks shoill we
- 17:04Speaker 5: just get right into it?
- 17:05Speaker 7: Yes, do it all right?
- 17:07Speaker 5: Fantastic robb Well you get to start it with a
- 17:08Speaker 5: rough SYNOPSI sure.
- 17:11Speaker 4: A Nora, a young woman from Brooklyn, gets her chance
- 17:14Speaker 4: at a Cinderella story when she meets and marries the
- 17:17Speaker 4: son of an oligarch. Once the news reaches Russia, her
- 17:21Speaker 4: fairy tale is threatened as the parents set out for
- 17:24Speaker 4: New York to get the marriage annulled.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Such a happy, happy reading.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Good work.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I like that thing. But also there's a like a
- 17:36Speaker 1: rom com version of this movie that exists.
- 17:39Speaker 4: Oh for sure much, Yeah, you can do it, Yeah totally.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Oh but he doesn't love me.
- 17:47Speaker 5: Let's go to Rotten Tomatoes now and hear what they
- 17:49Speaker 5: have to say. Critics have this coming in at a
- 17:51Speaker 5: rock solid ninety three, very fresh.
- 17:54Speaker 4: So fresh and so clean, makes sense.
- 17:56Speaker 5: It won a lot of awards, so I guess that
- 17:59Speaker 5: that tracks, and audience members have it a tick below that,
- 18:02Speaker 5: but still very high at eighty six percent, so doing
- 18:05Speaker 5: very well for itself. I would agree, Yeah, but I
- 18:09Speaker 5: think it's time to hear what we think.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Should we go into our hot take?
- 18:12Speaker 4: Hot take?
- 18:15Speaker 1: That's a hot take.
- 18:17Speaker 4: That's a hot take, hot borshed.
- 18:22Speaker 1: It's not particularly hot, but it is a soup.
- 18:29Speaker 7: You got me, that's the word.
- 18:37Speaker 5: It is delicious though. I have had it in Russia
- 18:40Speaker 5: and I liked it a lot.
- 18:41Speaker 1: So there's there's that. Let's go into my hot take.
- 18:44Speaker 5: I can't go first. I really enjoyed this movie a lot.
- 18:49Speaker 5: I saw this movie kind of early actually, as far
- 18:53Speaker 5: as like an Oscar movie goes, I think we saw
- 18:55Speaker 5: it in late summer or early fall when it first
- 18:58Speaker 5: came out. I remember really really enjoying it and I
- 19:02Speaker 5: enjoyed it again on the rewatch here, so it was
- 19:04Speaker 5: kind of the rewatch was fun. It felt fresh and
- 19:07Speaker 5: new again. I think it is. It's a lot of things.
- 19:11Speaker 5: There's a lot of things happening in this movie. It
- 19:14Speaker 5: is like scary at points for the actors themselves, for
- 19:19Speaker 5: the characters. It's also really funny at points. It's super raw,
- 19:24Speaker 5: like you said, Sammy, very emotional on a ton of fronts.
- 19:28Speaker 5: We get into sort of the sex worker community, we
- 19:30Speaker 5: get into all the arks and you know, the grossness
- 19:33Speaker 5: that is money, and how friends and you know, comrades
- 19:37Speaker 5: can be oh, comrades, I didn't even mean to do that,
- 19:39Speaker 5: but how people can be disposable within our lives for
- 19:43Speaker 5: a number of different reasons, and just all the things right, interactions.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Between people and all these things.
- 19:49Speaker 5: And I think it does, honestly all of these things
- 19:51Speaker 5: remarkably well. It's they have some really cool shots in it,
- 19:55Speaker 5: just from like a straight up technical perspective. There's one
- 19:59Speaker 5: where like there's chin or something and there's like a
- 20:02Speaker 5: sun sunbeam, sunburst whatever that thing is that like clazes
- 20:07Speaker 5: over the whole scene and I'm just like, man, that
- 20:10Speaker 5: is smooching someone that you're in love with, like put
- 20:13Speaker 5: into a you know, like a movie frame. It's perfect
- 20:17Speaker 5: because it's just like nothing else matters in this moment.
- 20:19Speaker 1: It is great, excuse me. And then we get like you.
- 20:24Speaker 5: Know, through the windshield of the car and like the
- 20:26Speaker 5: lookout onto the beautiful vistas and all these things.
- 20:29Speaker 1: It's really cool.
- 20:31Speaker 5: My favorite part about the Rewatch though, was the the
- 20:34Speaker 5: small ways in which in this mostly I would say
- 20:38Speaker 5: bleak landscape, people show love to one another, whether it's
- 20:42Speaker 5: like the friends who is like the fellow exotic dancer
- 20:46Speaker 5: or I love the respect that Igor is able to
- 20:50Speaker 5: give to Honora and show her love and you know,
- 20:54Speaker 5: just like human decency while also like still playing his
- 21:00Speaker 5: role right because he's not perfect by any means. He's
- 21:03Speaker 5: helping you know, these people that are you know, holding
- 21:06Speaker 5: her against her will and all these things. But the respect,
- 21:09Speaker 5: then the small ways that he can show her love,
- 21:11Speaker 5: I think is is pretty great. And it's like my
- 21:14Speaker 5: favorite part of this movie, to be honest, Yeah and yeah,
- 21:18Speaker 5: I don't I guess I don't really have like a hot,
- 21:21Speaker 5: hot take from this movie. I think it is very
- 21:23Speaker 5: well done. I was a little bit surprised at one
- 21:26Speaker 5: best Picture, but not unpleasantly. I was like, oh cool,
- 21:29Speaker 5: good for them, especially once I learned about it being
- 21:33Speaker 5: kind of an indie film and not like a huge
- 21:35Speaker 5: budget and all these things. I think that's pretty amazing.
- 21:38Speaker 5: So I really enjoyed this film. I think it's worthwhile
- 21:41Speaker 5: for people to go watch, and it's not as hard
- 21:44Speaker 5: as a lot of like Best Picture winners to watch.
- 21:47Speaker 5: I think it's pretty inviting. So yeah, I just really
- 21:52Speaker 5: liked it. I guess that's my hot take.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Hot take.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 21:55Speaker 4: That was some borsa right there forged. I thought this
- 22:03Speaker 4: movie was awesome. I was really into it. It was
- 22:06Speaker 4: nominated for six Academy Awards. It won five of them
- 22:09Speaker 4: for Editing, Original Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Director, and of
- 22:14Speaker 4: course Best Picture. It was written and directed by Sean Baker,
- 22:18Speaker 4: who's made some highly regarded films such as Tangerine, The
- 22:23Speaker 4: Florida Project, and Red Rocket. I've only seen the Florida Project.
- 22:28Speaker 4: In Red Rocket, I realized.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I haven't seen any of them. That's crazy.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Well, when I was going through the eight twenty four films,
- 22:34Speaker 4: which I still am, that makes sense. Florida Project in
- 22:38Speaker 4: Red Rocket are are both a twenty four. I think
- 22:40Speaker 4: Tangerine is too.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Maybe I don't think you're ready.
- 22:43Speaker 4: I think you're I know those two are because I
- 22:45Speaker 4: watched last year. But in all three of those films,
- 22:50Speaker 4: Florida Project Red Rocket in this one focuses on someone
- 22:55Speaker 4: who is poor in the sex worker industry, and they're
- 22:59Speaker 4: like trying to dig themselves out of a hole, kind
- 23:02Speaker 4: of which I think is an interesting theme he keeps
- 23:04Speaker 4: going for. I thought Honora was the most fun out
- 23:09Speaker 4: of the other Seaan Baker films I've seen. The others
- 23:12Speaker 4: were like way more depressing and not anywhere near as funny,
- 23:17Speaker 4: but this one, man, I thought the cast was amazing,
- 23:20Speaker 4: especially Mike Madison. I thought her Academy Award was well deserved.
- 23:25Speaker 4: I felt bad for me Moore because I kind of
- 23:28Speaker 4: thought she was going to get like the Legacy Award.
- 23:32Speaker 4: But I mean, Mikey Madison had to do so much more.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, agreed.
- 23:39Speaker 4: She carried the whole film, and Demi Moore was like
- 23:43Speaker 4: in half of the other films, it's It's It's tough.
- 23:47Speaker 4: So much of the movie took place on that one
- 23:50Speaker 4: long last day, and it kind of felt like a
- 23:53Speaker 4: Safti Brothers movie a little bit to that, but maybe
- 23:58Speaker 4: a little funnier than that.
- 24:01Speaker 1: More easing music as well, for sure.
- 24:04Speaker 4: Yeah you hated that, hated like that and cut you out,
- 24:11Speaker 4: cut you out. My hottest take, very similar to yours.
- 24:15Speaker 4: I'm glad this film won Best Picture. I would have
- 24:19Speaker 4: also accepted Dune Part two, but I was glad it
- 24:23Speaker 4: wasn't The Brutalist because honestly, I thought that was going
- 24:26Speaker 4: to end up winning, just because it seemed like an
- 24:29Speaker 4: Oscar winning the Best Picture.
- 24:31Speaker 3: You know.
- 24:33Speaker 4: And yeah, glad it didn't go to one that didn't really,
- 24:36Speaker 4: you know, feel like a stuffy historical drama. And yeah,
- 24:41Speaker 4: same take, same take as yours.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Hat hot take. All right, Sammy, what do you think?
- 24:49Speaker 7: I feel like.
- 24:50Speaker 3: I need to preface this by saying, like, I really,
- 24:53Speaker 3: I really do love this movie. I think this is
- 24:56Speaker 3: a really I love Sean Baker. Florida Project is one
- 24:59Speaker 3: of my favorite films.
- 25:01Speaker 7: Wow, nice it like I love depressing, So it's right
- 25:07Speaker 7: up my alley.
- 25:10Speaker 3: But I this is going to a lot of the
- 25:14Speaker 3: stuff I'm going to say is going to sound like
- 25:16Speaker 3: I didn't enjoy this movie. But I was just picking
- 25:20Speaker 3: out my hot takes, and I do really feel like
- 25:24Speaker 3: this movie is a perfect example, and I'm happy at
- 25:27Speaker 3: one best picture. I wasn't expecting it to but I'm
- 25:31Speaker 3: happy it did because I love indie film and this
- 25:33Speaker 3: is a perfect example of an indie filmy. Just like
- 25:38Speaker 3: it's all about character, and Mikey Madison absolutely absolutely deserved
- 25:46Speaker 3: the oscar. I think she just I don't. I don't
- 25:50Speaker 3: even know where he found her, but she completely carried
- 25:55Speaker 3: the movie. I as like someone who who is extremely
- 26:01Speaker 3: interested in film, and like if I was in film school,
- 26:04Speaker 3: I would be like so interested to see this script
- 26:08Speaker 3: directed by a woman, just to see the difference. I
- 26:12Speaker 3: find that in film when there is nudity, like in
- 26:17Speaker 3: a strip club, I get so uncomfortable. And I don't
- 26:20Speaker 3: know if I need to talk to my therapist about
- 26:22Speaker 3: it or if it's like because I can tell if
- 26:26Speaker 3: it's like a movie done with the male gaze or
- 26:28Speaker 3: the female gaze. So I think it's not necessarily a critique,
- 26:33Speaker 3: but something I need to like sit with and figure out.
- 26:35Speaker 3: But I found myself, like in all the strip club scenes,
- 26:38Speaker 3: like a little bit uncomfortable, and maybe you're supposed to be,
- 26:41Speaker 3: because I did notice and I wrote it down that
- 26:46Speaker 3: we don't see her physical nudity after we start seeing
- 26:50Speaker 3: her emotional nudity.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Sure, so maybe that's the point that, like she is
- 26:56Speaker 3: viewed even though we see her humanity in this movie,
- 27:00Speaker 3: she is viewed through this male gaze, even by Vanya,
- 27:05Speaker 3: who she opens herself up to. The only person who
- 27:09Speaker 3: we don't who doesn't view her that way is Igor,
- 27:13Speaker 3: and he never sees her nude. So you know, I
- 27:18Speaker 3: wonder if that's part of it and is supposed to
- 27:21Speaker 3: be that way. But I just wonder, like, oh, I
- 27:23Speaker 3: wonder what this would have been like with a female director.
- 27:28Speaker 7: So yeah, that is a thought I had. And also.
- 27:34Speaker 3: It's not a movie I like want to watch again,
- 27:37Speaker 3: you know, like I'm happy. I actually I am so
- 27:39Speaker 3: happy that I did watch it again for this because
- 27:42Speaker 3: I did see things in new lights and like kind
- 27:45Speaker 3: of connect things that I didn't connect last time, like
- 27:47Speaker 3: the nudity thing. But yeah, it's not something that I'm like, oh,
- 27:52Speaker 3: let me go sit down and watching Nora, Like I'm
- 27:54Speaker 3: glad it was made. I'm glad it's getting its flowers,
- 27:57Speaker 3: but like it's not like the most enjoyable movie. But again,
- 28:03Speaker 3: so well written and so well acted, and one thing
- 28:08Speaker 3: like her journey in this is so heartbreaking and it's
- 28:12Speaker 3: the heart of the movie. And I just thought she
- 28:17Speaker 3: was I thought she was written really well, and her
- 28:22Speaker 3: feistiness and all all of her like walls that she's
- 28:25Speaker 3: trying to keep up the whole time. It's just really
- 28:28Speaker 3: really brilliantly done.
- 28:30Speaker 7: And just one.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Gripe I have with the whole movie is the dad.
- 28:36Speaker 3: I mean, it's he's supposed to be despicable, but the
- 28:39Speaker 3: dad at the end when she's like telling them off
- 28:40Speaker 3: and he's just laughing after the rage, I felt I
- 28:44Speaker 3: was so mad I wanted to punch him through my screen.
- 28:47Speaker 3: And he's supposed to be that way obviously, but I
- 28:50Speaker 3: was just like, I think, I think it's a testament
- 28:54Speaker 3: to how well done it is, because by the end,
- 28:56Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm ready to fight for her, you know.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:01Speaker 3: So yeah, I know I said some things that made
- 29:03Speaker 3: it seem like maybe, yeah, I didn't.
- 29:05Speaker 4: Love it, but I did.
- 29:07Speaker 7: Yeah. It just made me think I love movies and
- 29:09Speaker 7: make me think like that.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I totally agree.
- 29:13Speaker 5: Because one thing I thought about two was like part
- 29:17Speaker 5: of one tiny part I don't believe is I don't
- 29:20Speaker 5: think a person who works around men, especially in that
- 29:24Speaker 5: like where sex is and her body is like a commodity,
- 29:28Speaker 5: you know what I mean to them, and she obviously
- 29:30Speaker 5: uses it for power. I don't mean that in a
- 29:33Speaker 5: negative way, but like that's how she goes through life.
- 29:36Speaker 5: I don't think she would allow herself to like fall
- 29:39Speaker 5: head over heels for this guy. I feel like her
- 29:41Speaker 5: defenses would be up more right away, but maybe not.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Maybe that's a nitpick.
- 29:47Speaker 3: I don't know, but I do what are you having
- 29:51Speaker 3: watched it back again that I think her defenses are
- 29:54Speaker 3: up all the way until the chapel, Like that's the
- 29:59Speaker 3: first time that I see because even when she's like
- 30:02Speaker 3: when they're lying in the bed and he asked her
- 30:04Speaker 3: to get married, like her first thing is like ring, yeah,
- 30:08Speaker 3: she's it's still transactional for her. I think the chapel
- 30:12Speaker 3: was the first time I see her like get excited
- 30:14Speaker 3: about this guy because she's like, all right, if you're like,
- 30:17Speaker 3: if you're down to get married, like I trust you.
- 30:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that is cool. And I definitely agree with
- 30:23Speaker 5: the like your take on like exposing yourself, whether it
- 30:28Speaker 5: be physically or emotionally, because I I for sure felt
- 30:32Speaker 5: like that last scene was her, you know, going into
- 30:36Speaker 5: the old mode of transactional because he was kind to me,
- 30:39Speaker 5: we're going to do this thing, and then being able
- 30:42Speaker 5: to step away from that maybe or at least the
- 30:45Speaker 5: hope of being able to step away from that, and
- 30:47Speaker 5: then just kind of breaking down for the only time
- 30:50Speaker 5: in the whole film, despite all this crazy stuff, I
- 30:53Speaker 5: loved that a lot.
- 30:53Speaker 3: So that last scene is so powerful, and it's one
- 30:57Speaker 3: of It's one of those scenes where you're like, what.
- 30:59Speaker 7: Exactly happened there?
- 31:00Speaker 3: Like you have to think about it, and I I
- 31:04Speaker 3: mean I definitely the first time was like.
- 31:08Speaker 7: Why did that happen? And I had to examine it.
- 31:13Speaker 3: But the one thing that I'm like, I don't love
- 31:18Speaker 3: is that he let that happen.
- 31:21Speaker 7: I feel like he should have been like.
- 31:24Speaker 3: No, you know, so I don't like love his choice
- 31:27Speaker 3: in that moment to like let it go through. But
- 31:29Speaker 3: at the same time, like for the story it needed to.
- 31:32Speaker 3: She needed to have that moment where because he grabs
- 31:35Speaker 3: her face and she I think that's when she like
- 31:37Speaker 3: clicks into real life and is like, oh my god,
- 31:39Speaker 3: I can't I can't wol myself away from everything that
- 31:43Speaker 3: just happened to me.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, yeah, I get that for sure. Nice.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Well hot take hot take hot so hot?
- 31:56Speaker 5: Should we go in and talk about our favorite acting
- 31:58Speaker 5: performance show we name the.
- 32:01Speaker 8: I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, you
- 32:04Speaker 8: know that? Or his dude or duder or you know,
- 32:10Speaker 8: el dudo reno. If you're not into the whole brevity thing.
- 32:13Speaker 8: Maybe not the most difficult one we've.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Ever done, Sammy, definitely not. What do you got for
- 32:17Speaker 1: your dude?
- 32:19Speaker 7: Uh, Mikey Madison Oscar Winner seems fair.
- 32:23Speaker 3: I think this movie, if Honora was not played by
- 32:31Speaker 3: someone who's so intimately understood the assignment, it would have
- 32:39Speaker 3: fallen flat. I mean, it's she, she, it's she is
- 32:44Speaker 3: the movie. Ye, she's in maybe every frame, yeah.
- 32:50Speaker 1: I mean, damn clause if not.
- 32:53Speaker 7: And I mean we just get to see her, like
- 32:56Speaker 7: I said.
- 32:56Speaker 3: She she She is fighting the whole time to keep
- 33:03Speaker 3: her armor up, to stay in control. And it's really
- 33:11Speaker 3: interesting to watch and it's I think, really important to
- 33:17Speaker 3: see this perspective from uh, like a sex worker and
- 33:23Speaker 3: see her humanity. And I just thought I just thought
- 33:29Speaker 3: she was brilliant and like masterful, like a pro. Like
- 33:36Speaker 3: it seemed like she had been doing this for decades,
- 33:43Speaker 3: so yeah, and even watching it the second time, I
- 33:45Speaker 3: was like.
- 33:46Speaker 7: More blown away by her acting. So yeah, I got
- 33:50Speaker 7: to give it to her.
- 33:51Speaker 4: Absolutely. It's so interesting to see her in interviews Mikey
- 33:56Speaker 4: Madison because she seems so soft spoken and she just
- 34:00Speaker 4: played this big personality with a very thick New York accent.
- 34:06Speaker 4: She just had to do so much in this and
- 34:09Speaker 4: I feel like she's going to be able to do
- 34:11Speaker 4: whatever she wants after this.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Film, I hope.
- 34:14Speaker 5: So given her acceptance speech, I was like, oh, go
- 34:18Speaker 5: right acting sure, Yeah, you know, like it's like, damn, well,
- 34:22Speaker 5: this is great.
- 34:23Speaker 1: I love that. Ah yeah, I mean.
- 34:25Speaker 5: She's who I picked as well. It's a clean sweep.
- 34:27Speaker 5: She's wonderful on this. I think she goes through all
- 34:31Speaker 5: the different emotions. She's strong, she's vulnerable, she's.
- 34:36Speaker 1: All the things. So yeah, I definitely agree. I don't
- 34:38Speaker 1: feel like I have anything special to add other than that.
- 34:41Speaker 4: So she was really good.
- 34:43Speaker 1: She was good.
- 34:45Speaker 5: Let's talk about some of these other good people here.
- 34:47Speaker 5: Let's go on to the Tucci the Tucci Award.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Who else you want to talk about? Sammy, I'm his name.
- 34:57Speaker 4: Is euro Boris.
- 35:04Speaker 3: I I really enjoy watching his journey. He you know,
- 35:07Speaker 3: starts as this like apathetic, like I'm just here to
- 35:11Speaker 3: do a job, man, and then he is taken off
- 35:16Speaker 3: guard by her, caught off guard by her and has
- 35:20Speaker 3: to spring into action and uh is probably a.
- 35:24Speaker 7: Little bit frustrated, but also like who is this woman?
- 35:28Speaker 7: Like who is?
- 35:31Speaker 3: And then we get to see him see her humanity
- 35:36Speaker 3: and soften around her, and that's really nice to watch.
- 35:41Speaker 3: And yeah, he's just like the like I feel like
- 35:48Speaker 3: he serves as the example of what she can hope
- 35:54Speaker 3: for in UH, Like it doesn't who cares if they
- 35:58Speaker 3: end up together, but he serves as the shining height
- 36:00Speaker 3: of like, don't settle for someone like Vanya, Like he's
- 36:03Speaker 3: a slob, like he's a mess, Like treat you can
- 36:08Speaker 3: be treated well, you can be seen for who you are.
- 36:12Speaker 3: And it was it was a quiet performance, but those
- 36:15Speaker 3: are always really interesting to me, Like he was able
- 36:18Speaker 3: to do a lot without saying a lot, and that's
- 36:20Speaker 3: really that's really impressive to me.
- 36:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I loved when she like clocks him in that
- 36:26Speaker 5: that like the beginning of that first scene where they
- 36:29Speaker 5: come in the house and he just goes impressive whatever.
- 36:33Speaker 5: I was like, Oh, cool, I like this guy.
- 36:36Speaker 4: He was my favorite guy.
- 36:37Speaker 1: He was wonderful.
- 36:39Speaker 4: I loved him, and I really loved when he's like, hey,
- 36:42Speaker 4: you know, I think maybe Yvonne should apologize to her,
- 36:46Speaker 4: you know, like, yeah, just a decent guy, you know. Yeah,
- 36:51Speaker 4: so I definitely picked him as well. I also thought, uh, Vanya,
- 36:56Speaker 4: who was played by Mark Edelstein.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Yeah, he was good.
- 36:59Speaker 4: He was a character that must have been so much fun,
- 37:04Speaker 4: just like wanting to party, be unhinged, right, I.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Like, I I think it takes a certain amount of
- 37:15Speaker 3: either skill or like uh just beginner's luck to be
- 37:21Speaker 3: that free.
- 37:22Speaker 7: And loose on camera, because.
- 37:26Speaker 3: You could so easily, like it is the line between
- 37:32Speaker 3: trying hard to be loose and being loose is that's
- 37:36Speaker 3: that's a hard line to juggle. And he was like
- 37:40Speaker 3: he seemed like there was no script, Like he was
- 37:42Speaker 3: just like like they were like just be you like
- 37:45Speaker 3: that's how real it was.
- 37:47Speaker 7: So that was Yeah, that was really impressive too.
- 37:49Speaker 4: I've always heard that being drunk or under the influence
- 37:53Speaker 4: is so hard to not come off looking silly.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Yep, to like not go too far exactly.
- 38:02Speaker 3: It's it's something that you don't really have awareness of
- 38:04Speaker 3: when you're in that state.
- 38:05Speaker 1: So sure.
- 38:07Speaker 4: I thought he did that really well.
- 38:09Speaker 7: So well, yeah, yeah.
- 38:11Speaker 1: He was really fun.
- 38:12Speaker 3: I liked him.
- 38:13Speaker 1: It's a good pick. Who was I gonna? Oh, what
- 38:17Speaker 1: was his name? I didn't write down because I'm a dummy.
- 38:20Speaker 1: The priest guy. What's his name?
- 38:22Speaker 4: Toros was his characters Sorry, it looks like.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Karen carug Ye.
- 38:31Speaker 7: It was pretty funny.
- 38:32Speaker 1: I really liked him.
- 38:33Speaker 5: He was fun and that like the whole the church
- 38:36Speaker 5: thing and him holding the baby, backing me up, like.
- 38:42Speaker 4: When he looks down and he actually out no, no.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Really great, really really great.
- 38:49Speaker 5: And I just thought he was so great because he
- 38:53Speaker 5: like you, really felt for him. He felt like someone
- 38:56Speaker 5: whose boss is just a tyrant, and he was just like,
- 38:59Speaker 5: I'm sorry, but also so we gotta get this thick
- 39:01Speaker 5: carriage because.
- 39:02Speaker 1: I'm going to get screamed at if we don't, you know.
- 39:05Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 39:05Speaker 5: I just thought that was really great and I thought
- 39:07Speaker 5: he did a really wonderful job. And I think he
- 39:10Speaker 5: was the one. I think it's in trivia later. He's
- 39:13Speaker 5: been in all of Sean Baker's films, but this was.
- 39:17Speaker 1: His biggest part. And I think he was really good.
- 39:20Speaker 5: Like I was could totally see him being and other
- 39:23Speaker 5: stuff later and why not, you know, but it seems
- 39:26Speaker 5: like he can do it.
- 39:27Speaker 1: So I liked him a lot.
- 39:32Speaker 4: And his buddy to his brother Garnick.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Yes, I did like him a lot.
- 39:36Speaker 4: Yeah, he was really funny. He gets rocked in the face,
- 39:40Speaker 4: breaks his nose, gets concussion, throws up in the car,
- 39:45Speaker 4: gets kind of wasted, makes a fool of himself in
- 39:48Speaker 4: front of the wealthy family.
- 39:51Speaker 7: Yeah, so great.
- 39:52Speaker 1: I'm just trying to make a toast.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Thanks for letting me be here or whatever.
- 39:57Speaker 7: They're like in the middle of such a serious covers right.
- 40:00Speaker 1: So good, he had a rough night. There's some great trivia.
- 40:04Speaker 5: About him that I'll say for later because I don't
- 40:06Speaker 5: have a ton but I really like the I like
- 40:09Speaker 5: I have that one, so remind me if I forget
- 40:11Speaker 5: to say, yeah, I love that pick.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Those are really the main characters that I put down.
- 40:15Speaker 4: Did anybody else put anybody else tow they thought they
- 40:18Speaker 4: needed their flowers?
- 40:22Speaker 1: Her best friend who I also a missing her name here, Yeah,
- 40:26Speaker 1: she was fun, Miranda as Lulu. I just liked her.
- 40:31Speaker 5: I thought they were very believable as friends, Like you know,
- 40:35Speaker 5: she just kept calling her bro all the time.
- 40:38Speaker 1: And they were just they were just pals and like
- 40:40Speaker 1: talking about.
- 40:41Speaker 5: The other ladies, and you know, he just felt very
- 40:44Speaker 5: realistic to me, which was fun.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I liked that a lot.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Oh yeah, And she talked about the one guy who
- 40:51Speaker 4: said that he reminded her of his eighteen year old
- 40:55Speaker 4: daughter and then bought five lap dances and.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Was still paid for the dances.
- 41:04Speaker 3: I have that there is something about that too, because
- 41:07Speaker 3: I know Seawan Baker and Mikey Madison like really got
- 41:13Speaker 3: ingrained with the sex worker community for this and maybe
- 41:16Speaker 3: other Shawn Baker films. But that sounds like something that
- 41:22Speaker 3: was pulled direct.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I think that's a great call.
- 41:28Speaker 5: Like that was a conversation she'd had previously, and she's
- 41:31Speaker 5: like this should be in there, something.
- 41:32Speaker 3: Like yeah, literally, yeah, dude's a gross Yep.
- 41:37Speaker 1: They're just the worst, the worst. It's true.
- 41:44Speaker 4: Well, let's let's go switch up. Let's pick our favorite scene.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Let's choose the dingus is quite simple, really, dingus dingus.
- 41:54Speaker 1: I could talk about my dingas all night long.
- 41:57Speaker 3: For your favorite scene, I put the Vegas montage, like
- 42:03Speaker 3: once they're getting married and with the music over it, and.
- 42:07Speaker 7: Then after running through and being like I got married,
- 42:09Speaker 7: we're married.
- 42:10Speaker 3: And I just I love the dreaminess of that. I
- 42:15Speaker 3: love how it was shot a lot of handheld, a
- 42:17Speaker 3: lot of like from below them, so it looks like
- 42:19Speaker 3: they're the only people in the world. Yeah, it was
- 42:24Speaker 3: gorgeous and fantastical.
- 42:26Speaker 5: That can just be in the rom com one like
- 42:28Speaker 5: we don't changes right, that can be around it.
- 42:32Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. The only thing that took me out
- 42:36Speaker 4: of that scene was when Vanya Vanya pulled a borat
- 42:41Speaker 4: and were just like, it's my wife, everybody.
- 42:44Speaker 5: I missed that my wife, so he.
- 42:51Speaker 7: Yeah, that is it sounded exactly.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that's pretty great. I did love that scene.
- 42:59Speaker 5: It seemed like it was shot in a like fuzzier
- 43:03Speaker 5: warmer fashion somehow.
- 43:05Speaker 1: I don't know enough technically to know maybe.
- 43:07Speaker 3: A different film stock, like yeah, maybe Uji.
- 43:12Speaker 7: Film versus Kodak or something, you know, like.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Yeah, okay that kind of sure. Yeah. I don't know
- 43:17Speaker 1: enough about that stuff to say, but that's how mean. Yeah.
- 43:24Speaker 4: I wrote on a couple scenes, but I really loved
- 43:28Speaker 4: how chaotic. The courtroom scene was, Oh so fun. It
- 43:33Speaker 4: was pretty fun. They get there, Vanya is super drunk,
- 43:39Speaker 4: and Nora's swearing at the judge Toros keeps yelling objection
- 43:45Speaker 4: in the background, objection, and then the lawyer finds out
- 43:52Speaker 4: that they were married in Vegas, and like this, we
- 43:55Speaker 4: don't even do any of this here. I don't have
- 43:58Speaker 4: any of the information that I need for this.
- 44:01Speaker 3: I think it's that's a fun that's a fun scene
- 44:03Speaker 3: because the rest of the movie is pretty much like
- 44:07Speaker 3: set in places where it's the same societal rules.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Sure, yeah for.
- 44:13Speaker 3: Everybody, but this is an area where there's like supposed
- 44:15Speaker 3: to be so much decorum and they have no decorum.
- 44:18Speaker 1: You really see how they all stand out in this.
- 44:21Speaker 7: Yeah, setting, it's fun, it's fun.
- 44:24Speaker 4: I really love that scene.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it was so funny. That's a good one.
- 44:29Speaker 5: Or even like going into like up the stairs when
- 44:32Speaker 5: he's like he doesn't need to come, No, he does,
- 44:34Speaker 5: and he's like, I'm just holding which met him.
- 44:38Speaker 1: I'm just holding him about basically right right. I don't
- 44:41Speaker 1: know what that means.
- 44:41Speaker 4: I don't know, And Vanni just straight up says, I'm intoxicated.
- 44:46Speaker 1: I'm intoxicated. Yeah, that's really good. That was fun.
- 44:52Speaker 5: So the one that I picked is long, it's like
- 44:55Speaker 5: twenty minutes of the film, but it is the entirety
- 44:58Speaker 5: from the beginning of the like when they enter the
- 45:02Speaker 5: house to find what's happened after they're married, they like
- 45:06Speaker 5: hold her hostage that I'm gonna I'm being like a
- 45:10Speaker 5: little sneaky here, and including the baptism as part of that,
- 45:14Speaker 5: and like him driving there because that's all kind of
- 45:17Speaker 5: when that's happening, and like they are just fighting their
- 45:20Speaker 5: asses off. Everything keeps escalating, like it's it's so funny.
- 45:27Speaker 4: That's also really chaotic too.
- 45:29Speaker 5: It's so chaotic, and I in the theater, I was
- 45:32Speaker 5: like crying laughing. I was nearly crying laughing again watching it,
- 45:36Speaker 5: even though I've seen it, I thought was just so
- 45:39Speaker 5: so great.
- 45:40Speaker 4: That of her mouth screaming, right, They're just like, oh no.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Don't say that. And then he was like, please stop screaming,
- 45:51Speaker 1: just screaming back her.
- 45:54Speaker 5: All of it's amazing. You can tell that. I have
- 45:57Speaker 5: trivia about this later. But they filmed that stuff for
- 46:00Speaker 5: a long time, the like fighting, and I feel like
- 46:02Speaker 5: you can tell in some shots because her legs are
- 46:07Speaker 5: so much and she's like very pale, right, so it's
- 46:09Speaker 5: gonna show, but her legs are so bruised, and I
- 46:13Speaker 5: was just like, oh damn, that's crazy. Uh yeah, I
- 46:16Speaker 5: just thought was so funny, like kicking the other guy
- 46:21Speaker 5: in the nose, and then you know.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Breaking the table and just like her biting.
- 46:26Speaker 5: Everything about it is so so so funny and and
- 46:30Speaker 5: like this isn't a scene I should be laughing at
- 46:33Speaker 5: They're holding this woman against her will, and it was
- 46:36Speaker 5: hysterical to me. I don't know, like it's so great.
- 46:40Speaker 5: I love that scene so much. That's a long one,
- 46:43Speaker 5: but it's really good.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that.
- 46:48Speaker 5: And then I wrote down the marriage scene and then
- 46:50Speaker 5: there are they at Coney Island?
- 46:53Speaker 4: Is that where they are?
- 46:54Speaker 5: I couldn't tell. That kind of looks like the Jersey
- 46:57Speaker 5: Shore though as well.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Right, I mean it's all to someone who doesn't know.
- 47:01Speaker 4: Probably they said that that restaurant is a considered Brighton.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Beach, right, oh yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 47:09Speaker 4: Yeah, but I think that's just directly next to Coney Island, right,
- 47:12Speaker 4: it's Coney Island.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Brighton Beach.
- 47:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, they're they're close. I think she's from Coney
- 47:18Speaker 3: Island and maybe most of the beach scene.
- 47:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know.
- 47:27Speaker 5: Somewhere in that area. But I just liked the the
- 47:31Speaker 5: first time we see them like at the candy shop
- 47:33Speaker 5: and then they're on the beach itself, and it's just
- 47:36Speaker 5: they're kind of happy, they're having a nice time. I
- 47:38Speaker 5: like that thought that was a cool setting.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:42Speaker 4: Yeah. The other one I wrote on is when she
- 47:44Speaker 4: tells off the family after they get their marriage and oh,
- 47:48Speaker 4: that is a good one. It's awesome. And that's the
- 47:50Speaker 4: one that kind of I feel like that audio went
- 47:54Speaker 4: viral on the TikTok hearing that one, which part when
- 48:01Speaker 4: she says, because your son's.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I'm sure. Yeah, thats that.
- 48:08Speaker 4: That one blew up all over the place.
- 48:10Speaker 7: Didn't I didn't that one didn't come across my desk.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Yeah, you didn't hit the algorithm, right, I guess.
- 48:18Speaker 4: You watch it once and then you see it a
- 48:20Speaker 4: million times. Tis Yeah.
- 48:23Speaker 5: I also can't emphasize how little I wanted to be
- 48:26Speaker 5: at those parties they were at and those clubs, Like
- 48:29Speaker 5: I was just like, I am washed, not interested even
- 48:34Speaker 5: a little kind of like they were having a nice
- 48:36Speaker 5: time for most of.
- 48:37Speaker 1: It, and that was just like, no, that sounds terrible.
- 48:42Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I was thinking about her friend who she
- 48:46Speaker 3: stayed at this party, So then I was like, so
- 48:48Speaker 3: her friend's just alone.
- 48:50Speaker 1: I thought the same thing, like did she stay? What's
- 48:53Speaker 1: it like? Maybe a threesome so you know she's safe.
- 48:56Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 48:58Speaker 4: Well when she was like, well, I don't know if
- 49:00Speaker 4: I can, and then she's like, you know, it's a
- 49:03Speaker 4: holiday rate. So it's like, oh, I thought she was
- 49:06Speaker 4: going to like stick up for her friend.
- 49:07Speaker 1: There, Yeah, totably didn't. He was not.
- 49:11Speaker 4: She was not.
- 49:12Speaker 1: Frank could take care of herself. Yeah, tough.
- 49:15Speaker 4: Yeah, she probably knew what was up. Yeah, that was
- 49:19Speaker 4: the possibility of her stream.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, that's a good point.
- 49:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:24Speaker 1: Nice. Any other scenes, we feel like we have to
- 49:27Speaker 1: bring it up. I feel like my other ones will
- 49:31Speaker 1: come up maybe during the quotes.
- 49:32Speaker 3: I mean I will say I do think and I
- 49:36Speaker 3: sort of mentioned this, but that last scene is really powerful.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, I could call yeah.
- 49:42Speaker 3: And I think the first time I watched it, I
- 49:45Speaker 3: was like, wait, I think I need more information. But like,
- 49:48Speaker 3: I'm glad he left it like that because it's it's
- 49:52Speaker 3: nice to interpret things and not be spoon fed.
- 49:58Speaker 7: And I think.
- 50:00Speaker 3: The like uncertainty of that is kind of part of
- 50:06Speaker 3: the message in like, yeah, you don't have control, like
- 50:11Speaker 3: you got to let go of having control and just
- 50:14Speaker 3: like feel some things.
- 50:15Speaker 7: So I thought that that was a beautiful scene.
- 50:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I did like And I like what you said
- 50:20Speaker 5: too about like, uh oh, it just left me. I
- 50:25Speaker 5: liked what you said, but I don't remember. It's gotten forever.
- 50:28Speaker 4: It's it left. The one thing I didn't love about
- 50:31Speaker 4: that scene and it was really dumb, but I just
- 50:35Speaker 4: felt like the snow looked really fake. I thought the same,
- 50:41Speaker 4: it was taking me out of it. It was like I
- 50:42Speaker 4: could see it like kind of holding up on the window.
- 50:48Speaker 1: It was falling at exactly the same rate of speed.
- 50:51Speaker 4: It looked it looked fakey. It did look faky, and
- 50:54Speaker 4: I hate that when it takes me. It was a
- 50:57Speaker 4: powerful scene.
- 50:58Speaker 1: That's that.
- 50:58Speaker 5: From that, I remember what I was gonna say. I
- 51:01Speaker 5: liked what you said about it doesn't matter if she
- 51:03Speaker 5: ends up with him. It matters that she knows she
- 51:06Speaker 5: deserves someone who treats her better, right, because it's not
- 51:09Speaker 5: like a you know, I did feel at points like, man,
- 51:13Speaker 5: the bar is so low for dudes.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Like just to be a complete dickhead.
- 51:17Speaker 5: But I do think like allowing yourself to be loved
- 51:22Speaker 5: or be in a spot where you could be loved
- 51:24Speaker 5: by someone like that, I think is at least.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Part of the message.
- 51:28Speaker 5: And I did really like that too some with you,
- 51:31Speaker 5: and I liked when they were just like smoking the
- 51:33Speaker 5: weed in the apartment or in the in the house
- 51:38Speaker 5: after they come back and all it was sort of
- 51:40Speaker 5: the like aftermath.
- 51:41Speaker 3: Right, she so abrasive and he's just like, it was
- 51:47Speaker 3: my birthday yesterday.
- 51:49Speaker 4: You know that's a stupid name.
- 51:54Speaker 7: Oh my god, I love that.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Yeah, really really good. I liked that a lot. Why
- 52:01Speaker 1: should we go on and talk about our favorite quotes?
- 52:03Speaker 1: Shall we show me the money?
- 52:05Speaker 4: Show me the money?
- 52:08Speaker 3: Show quotes I only wrote down too, and they're pretty random,
- 52:19Speaker 3: but uh, I love it's in the very beginning. It's
- 52:24Speaker 3: it's right before she talks about her friend, talks about
- 52:28Speaker 3: the guy.
- 52:29Speaker 7: Being like, you look just like my daughter.
- 52:32Speaker 3: But they're like debriefing, having a cigarette outside the club,
- 52:36Speaker 3: and uh, the friend like looks at Nora's nails and
- 52:41Speaker 3: there's a butter like there's butterfly art on them.
- 52:44Speaker 7: Is that a butterfly? Yeah, it's a butterfly.
- 52:47Speaker 3: You're so classy, I know. And then she goes, I
- 52:51Speaker 3: got dala signs like a real hoe and she goes
- 52:54Speaker 3: like a and then Nonora says, no, but you're manifesting that.
- 52:59Speaker 6: Yes, I And I'm like, that is such a girl,
- 53:02Speaker 6: Like that is so girls talking about and like gassing
- 53:06Speaker 6: each other up, and oh my.
- 53:08Speaker 3: God, that is a real I got dollar signs, like
- 53:11Speaker 3: a real hope.
- 53:13Speaker 4: It's so class class I.
- 53:20Speaker 5: I love it.
- 53:20Speaker 1: I love that, like I buy this friendship.
- 53:27Speaker 3: And then towards the end when they're in front of
- 53:31Speaker 3: the courthouse and I'm assuming it's the lawyer and he's like,
- 53:36Speaker 3: oh my god, I have to.
- 53:37Speaker 7: Deal with this mess.
- 53:39Speaker 3: And then he looks at her and and this is the.
- 53:42Speaker 10: The lucky lady, and it's it's just such a funny
- 53:48Speaker 10: delivery because it's like nothing about this look is lucky,
- 53:51Speaker 10: Like it's just a complete disaster.
- 53:55Speaker 4: And I feel like she really tapped into her Marissa to.
- 54:01Speaker 1: There are points for sure.
- 54:02Speaker 9: Yeah, absolutely, yeah, yeah, I just I love both of
- 54:08Speaker 9: those moments that are just show different sides of an
- 54:13Speaker 9: aura that we don't get to see the.
- 54:14Speaker 7: Rest of it. And I love those little those little moments.
- 54:17Speaker 4: Yeah, those are great.
- 54:19Speaker 1: That's great.
- 54:20Speaker 4: The please stop screaming from megor screaming in her face.
- 54:24Speaker 4: So the funniest.
- 54:26Speaker 1: Part is the situation.
- 54:31Speaker 4: It was so good when Toros comes in and he's
- 54:35Speaker 4: like looking around and seeing that everything's disheveled in the house,
- 54:39Speaker 4: just like she's just a little girl. And he was like,
- 54:43Speaker 4: she's not fighting like one. The other guy's like she's
- 54:47Speaker 4: an animal, bro. It's just great. Early on at the club,
- 54:55Speaker 4: when they're like in the dressing room area, they're talking
- 55:00Speaker 4: about the DJ and the one the one lady said
- 55:05Speaker 4: he's forty, he's literally geriatric.
- 55:08Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, feelings for sure. I didn't love that,
- 55:15Speaker 5: but also, so what a twenty something year al say?
- 55:18Speaker 4: Totally?
- 55:19Speaker 3: Yeah, especially twenty something who has to like dance for
- 55:22Speaker 3: these men every yes.
- 55:24Speaker 1: These gross dudes all the day. Yeah. Absolutely.
- 55:29Speaker 4: When he has asked her to marry him, it's like,
- 55:33Speaker 4: so you want to get married to me, Vanya, you
- 55:35Speaker 4: want me to be a little wifey And he's says,
- 55:39Speaker 4: I'm serious, And I said it twicely.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Twice. Really good.
- 55:46Speaker 4: And I loved how she can like understand the Russian.
- 55:52Speaker 4: She's hearing Torros on the phone talk about her, Yeah,
- 55:57Speaker 4: and at one point calls her a shlew tweet. We
- 56:01Speaker 4: found out that that means horror.
- 56:05Speaker 1: I think is what that one was.
- 56:07Speaker 4: And so then Honora's screams, your mother is a That
- 56:16Speaker 4: one made me laugh.
- 56:18Speaker 3: I'm glad you mentioned that because I wanted to write
- 56:20Speaker 3: that down and I was like, I don't know how
- 56:21Speaker 3: to say shluh, and then I and then was gone.
- 56:24Speaker 1: Yeah, totally totally, but.
- 56:27Speaker 4: I loved that.
- 56:28Speaker 7: Funny.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Oh really funny. I love that.
- 56:34Speaker 5: Also, it's early on when she's dancing with that first
- 56:38Speaker 5: dude and he's like.
- 56:39Speaker 1: So does your does your family know that you.
- 56:42Speaker 4: Do this or whatever?
- 56:42Speaker 5: It's like stop it first of all, and then she's like,
- 56:46Speaker 5: does your family know you're here?
- 56:51Speaker 1: Stupid?
- 56:52Speaker 7: Just gross dude, he's judging her. Meanwhile he's there her man, Yeah,
- 57:00Speaker 7: just the worst guy.
- 57:03Speaker 5: And then when Vanya is like he keeps playing video
- 57:07Speaker 5: games like right after they have sex, which is so
- 57:10Speaker 5: funny anyway, but she's like, you know, you paid for
- 57:13Speaker 5: an hour, there's still like forty five minutes left if
- 57:15Speaker 5: you want to go again.
- 57:16Speaker 1: He's like okay, just like so in I thought that
- 57:20Speaker 1: was a funny moment like that. Also, when the one.
- 57:25Speaker 5: He's tied her up with the phone card and then
- 57:29Speaker 5: the guy comes and he's like, I'm tire and he's like,
- 57:31Speaker 5: she will run, bro, I promise. It's like, where will
- 57:35Speaker 5: she run? And she immediately runs. I just thought that
- 57:38Speaker 5: was so funny. And he's just like, I told you, man, I.
- 57:41Speaker 1: Don't know what you want from me. Oh what else
- 57:45Speaker 1: did I have?
- 57:46Speaker 5: I thought this maybe this could even been a scene.
- 57:48Speaker 5: But when she's telling him he's a pathetic mother, and
- 57:52Speaker 5: then his mom is there and she's like pathetic see
- 57:57Speaker 5: see like and she's on her side for the first
- 58:00Speaker 5: and only time, you know. But I was just like, damn,
- 58:03Speaker 5: this family is messed.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Up, okay?
- 58:08Speaker 5: And then oh, and I loved when she was just like, yeah,
- 58:12Speaker 5: it's real, but it isn't mink. It's Russian sable because
- 58:16Speaker 5: what she says Russian sable, which is worth a lot
- 58:20Speaker 5: more than fucking mink or whatever she says that.
- 58:23Speaker 1: I thought that was just really fun. She's just so sassy.
- 58:26Speaker 1: It was so unobstandably but.
- 58:28Speaker 4: So fu Yeah.
- 58:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I think those were all the ones I had written.
- 58:34Speaker 1: Don't though, you guys are.
- 58:34Speaker 4: The only other one I had.
- 58:36Speaker 3: Uh.
- 58:36Speaker 4: Oh, I guess I had two is just uh. He
- 58:40Speaker 4: asked if he has Instagram and tourists like, I don't
- 58:42Speaker 4: have Instagram. I'm an adult. Yeah, it's really funny. Yeah,
- 58:48Speaker 4: he was a real boomer. He didn't like the millennials
- 58:50Speaker 4: or the gen zs.
- 58:52Speaker 1: Me baby, Yeah, yeah, it was really funny.
- 58:56Speaker 4: I also just loved in that one scene where Igor
- 59:00Speaker 4: and Honora are back at the house and he's like,
- 59:04Speaker 4: touche was cracking me up. Was good. Yeah, maybe maybe
- 59:12Speaker 4: you get English down before you try French or whatever.
- 59:16Speaker 4: That's pretty good. He's like, yeah, well let's go to
- 59:20Speaker 4: bukes boohoo moments. The crying game, I this is a
- 59:29Speaker 4: hard one for me. I feel like you could have
- 59:32Speaker 4: cried in some spots where I wouldn't, but so I
- 59:38Speaker 4: I only picked the one that I thought that you
- 59:41Speaker 4: for sure did, and just the very end scene in
- 59:43Speaker 4: the car when she's sobbing afterwards.
- 59:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it was just.
- 59:51Speaker 4: So funny throughout it and like chaotic that like it had.
- 59:55Speaker 4: I had a hard time finding like parts where you
- 59:57Speaker 4: would actually like break down. So I feel like there
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: could have been stuff on the plane possibly or like
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: after they get annulled, but I just don't know for sure.
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: Like Sammy, do you think there were any other bohoos
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: that I'm missing?
- 1:00:11Speaker 7: I'm wondering if when yeah, when uh.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: Right before she gets back on or onto the private jet,
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: when he's like, of course.
- 1:00:25Speaker 7: Not what are you stupid?
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: Like he's she's like, so you don't you you want
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: to get divorced.
- 1:00:31Speaker 7: We're going to get divorced. And he's like, of course,
- 1:00:33Speaker 7: are you stupid?
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: And she's just like, Okay, this person doesn't see me
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: as a human being. And then she that's when she
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: gets a little bit emotional. So maybe there.
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: Yeah, yep, that one totally got me, just like that
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: like dropping of the ball finally.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: Of like, oh he is just a dickhead.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, she's probably thinking like I shouldn't have
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: let down my guard or whatever.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, yeah, one hundred percent. That's a good one
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: that got me for Shua. One more.
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: I don't know if this is tied on to any
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: of the other ones, but when they leave the lawyers
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: or wherever they have to go in Vegas to annull it,
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: and she gets in the car and it's a close
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: up shot and you could tell that she's trying not
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: to cry.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, no, that one didn't get me.
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: I did like that shot a lot, though, Yeah, I
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: did like that. The only other one is one we
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: mentioned earlier, but it's the moment where Igor says, I
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: think it's appropriate.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: That Ivonne apologizes because I was just.
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: Like, damn man, like that's again right, like he's not
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: some knight in shining armor, but also like he doesn't
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: have to do.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: That, And I thought that was like a beautiful way again,
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: right of just seeing her as a human being and
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: understanding the situation.
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: Yeah, and exercising some power in a moment where he doesn't.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Have a lot I thought was cool.
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: So I like that, yeah, yeah, but just three I
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: was kind of surprised, honestly.
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: Yeah, in a Best Picture winner.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Yeah, like you said, it was really funny. It was
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: like they have moments of levity.
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: So yeah, Well, let's go into some movie trivia here.
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: According to Sean Baker, one scene where the characters walk
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: into that Tatiana grill in Brighton Beach and they interact
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: with the dinner party that was completely improvised and shot
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: in a gorilla fashion.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Apparently they did this in a couple spots, I guess, but.
- 1:02:32Speaker 7: Like really interrupted a party.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess that.
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: Baker and then the cinematographer Drew Daniels crashed a dinner
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: party to film scenes of Taurus, asking all the guests
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: where Yvonne was, and they did it with a thirty
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: five millimeter camera that he.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Just had ready to go and that's amazing and shot
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: the scene the entire time. So I thought that was
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: kind of cool and fun film.
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, super neat, right, like cool. I like that
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: vibe and it came acrossaotic that way too.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: I felt like yeah, which so it worked.
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: Uh, And then he had a Q and A Sean
- 1:03:07Speaker 5: Baker did with an Australian audience, and they said that
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: Lindsay Normington, who plays Honora's rival Diamond, who was actually
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: pretty great as well. She was, you know, haterable and whatever.
- 1:03:19Speaker 5: She has a background in the exotic dance world and
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: provided a ton of consultation during the filming of the
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: movie as well, just thought how to make things genuine.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: And stuff like that. So I thought that was really neat.
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: And then we got apparently Sean Baker had seen Mikey
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: Madison in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and that's
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: where he sort of fell.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: In love with her.
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: So many people were like, up and common.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: Remember what part she played in that If I'm honest,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: girls or something, that's what I thought. I don't know.
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: Yeah, in the like she's in that like last scene
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: at Brad Pitt's house. She's one of those people. Okay,
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: And remember and Butler was one of the guys in that. Wow,
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: Sydney Sweeney was also on like that ranch Margaret her
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: with the feet, with her creepy bastard maya hawk. Yes,
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: it's crazy.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: Wow, that's crazy.
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: It was nuts anyway, anyone anyone in Hollywood at that time.
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: Seriously, it was just nuts, all these incomers.
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: So he had seen her in that and loved her scenes,
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: and then saw her and Scream, which she was really
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: good in Scream.
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: Scream, Yeah, I gotta watch that.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: It's really good. It's really good. I heard it was
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: good at some point. Uh.
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: And he had saw that with his wife and longtime producer,
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: Samantha Kwan, and as they were walking out, they were
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: just like, she's got to play this part, or we
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: have to work with her or something.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: So I just thought that was I.
- 1:04:56Speaker 7: Really want to watch Scream to see it's really good.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: The new Yeah, it's fun.
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: Oh, this is what I was saying of the thirty
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: seven days of shooting for this whole movie. Ten of
- 1:05:08Speaker 5: them were the home invasion scene.
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: So like it's like a half hour of the movie.
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: It's so much of the movie, and there's like all
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: those moving parts you know of like them fighting and all.
- 1:05:19Speaker 7: That and not having pants for ten days of work.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: It's the dream.
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: Honestly, it's the dream. I work from home. So that's
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: pretty much just how it is. No, Yeah, you're right though,
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: like that's pretty wild wild. Mikey Madison did extensive research
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: about sex work for this movie. Additionally, she took dance lessons,
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: including pole dancing that she described as being extremely physically strenuous,
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: which I can see it seems hard.
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: That's something I meant to shout out is her pole
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: dancing segment during that guy's like birthday.
- 1:05:58Speaker 7: I was like, I want more of that. I want
- 1:06:01Speaker 7: to see you do that group.
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: I mean, they really didn't show much of that for
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: how much work she probably gut into the for real,
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: Like I would be bummed out if I saw that
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: at it. Yeah, thet there booked.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: My ass for like a year, two three.
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: For sure. She also learned Russian for the role and
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: insisted on doing most of her own stunts when she
- 1:06:28Speaker 5: was doing like the fights in the living room and
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: then the fight in the in the club, So.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: I just thought that was crazy. So she was in.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: She was in. That's which is cool for her.
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: Ura Borisov asked Mikey Madison to actually hit him in
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: the fights that they had both in the living room
- 1:06:44Speaker 5: and the end of the film in the car, so
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: she was really, you know, wailing on him, which came
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: across as reel Let's see. At the Cannes Film Festival
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: press conference, Mikey Madison said that director Sean Baker would
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: out the different sex positions and thank god I read
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: this because I was concerned about this with his wife,
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: producer Samantha Kwan while they were both clothed to demonstrate.
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: And it makes me feel better that she was there,
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: that like a lady was there. I don't that obviously
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: doesn't mean it's going to be safer necessarily, but it
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: feels like it has a better chance.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Of being safe.
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I remember, I remember those things were kind of
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: blowing up at the time and everybody was freaking out
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: that they didn't have an intimacy coordinator.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: Sure, even though she was right, yeah, interesting.
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: She was saying how she felt okay with it. She
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: felt extremely comfortable with it, and everybody else was like, well, no,
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: are you just saying that, because because.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: Sometimes you don't realize till later either, right that Like, oh,
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: actually that was.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: You know, it's a I can understand why people were
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: a little bit upset because on the one hand, it's like,
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: it's good to know for sure that she felt comfortable,
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: but it's also a really tricky precedent to set that
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: could take advantage of. Right, Oh, but could you would
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: tell me if you really wanted an intimacy coordinator? Right? Like,
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: that could get so like I think it should just
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: be a rule to always have it.
- 1:08:18Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, And so that's.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: Where people are like, but glad that she so glad
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: that she felt like free and safe.
- 1:08:26Speaker 5: But yeah, the whole time obviously like I'm not an actor,
- 1:08:31Speaker 5: but I was just like, I don't know that I
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: could do not only could I not do this as
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: well as she did it. I don't know that I'm
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: pretty free with my body, but I don't know that
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: I could do it in a non comedic way and
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: like be that exposed. That'd be tricky. I mean, yeah,
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: that's toe for her, I guess, yeah.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: But just wild that would take a lot. I feel
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: like to be to feel safe in that setting.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: I thought this was interesting.
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: The word that Vanya uses to insult Igor and Garnic
- 1:09:03Speaker 5: and then later Anora that they pick up on is gopnik.
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: And I found myself looking this up, but then it
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: was in the trivia too. It's a word in former
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: Soviet republics for a member of urban criminal, criminal subcultures
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: like young hoodlums and things like that. So I just
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: thought that was interesting because it obviously felt very charged
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: in a very specific like Armenian way, you know, kind
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: of situation. So I was glad to find out what
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: that meant. We already said that one. This was the
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: fifth film in a row to be distributed by Neon
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: in the in the United States to win the Palm
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: du Or at Cannes Film Festival. In the previous four
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: were Parasite.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: Uh, I don't I don't know how you say this
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: one Titanye, Maybe it's Titan with an E. I don't know.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: I don't know that film.
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: I guess from twenty twenty one Triangle of Sadness and
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: then Anatomy of a Fall.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: So they've had a good they've had a good run.
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: He really good run.
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: So Luna Sophia Miranda wasn't supposed to be working the
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: day she met Sean Baker and his wife at a
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: strip club and it ended up changing her life forever.
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: She says.
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: She was called in to work last minute as a
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: dancer in a Brooklyn strip club. She struck up a
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: conversation with these two that just looked like another couple
- 1:10:31Speaker 5: at the bar, and they turned out to be the
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: filmmaker and his producer wife, and they quickly discovered that
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: she was an aspiring actress and invited her to audition
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: for the role of Lulu, the best friend of Anora,
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: and then she helped work on the.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: Film and stuff. So that's pretty crazy, kind of fun.
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:50Speaker 5: Sean Baker is the tenth person to receive an Oscar
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: nom for editing the film they also directed. The other
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: people were David Lean a Passage to India in eighty four,
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: Steve James Hoop Dreams in ninety four, the Cohen Brothers
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: for both Fargo and No Country for Old Men, James
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: Cameron Titanic and Avatar, Alfonso Cuaron, Children of Men in Gravity,
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: Michael oh Boy Hazan Visius for the Artist I've perfect. Yeah,
- 1:11:23Speaker 5: I guess Jean marc Vali from Dallas Buyers Club and
- 1:11:27Speaker 5: Clo Giao from Nomadland. Of these ten, Cameron for Titanic,
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: Quaron for Gravity, and Baker are the only ones who.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: Have won both awards. Wow, I just thought that was
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: kind of interesting. That doesn't happen very often.
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: Yeah, oh, this is the backstory on Garnic. I thought
- 1:11:45Speaker 5: this was really interesting. They are Sean Baker and Vasher,
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: who is the person who plays Garnick. They came up
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: with the idea that he is an alcoholic, a recovering
- 1:11:55Speaker 5: alcoholic that has been sober for quite some time, and
- 1:11:59Speaker 5: then when he gets kicked in the nose and gets
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: given the pills, he falls off the wagon and then
- 1:12:04Speaker 5: starts drinking throughout the rest of the day. So he
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: sort of unravels, which is why, like he says that
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: stuff to the family and things like that, and they
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: just you can kind of see that, like things start going,
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: you know, circling the drain or whatever. And this is
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: hinted at earlier in the film when they're at the
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: New Year's Eve party when the two Toros and him
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: are talking.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Garnic is drinking water while everyone else is partying around him.
- 1:12:31Speaker 5: So I just thought that was kind of a new,
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: like fun backstory that they came up with that you
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: maybe don't need, but it's all the richer for it.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: I just thought that was sure. And then the last
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: one that I have.
- 1:12:42Speaker 5: In almost every scene where they appear together, right up
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: until the home invasion, Honora and Ivan are or Ivan
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: are shown wearing red and blue, usually one wearing one color,
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: the other wearing the opposite. And then when that home
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: invasion scene happens, Yvonne puts on pants over his blue
- 1:13:02Speaker 5: underpants and then a black hoodie on, and then he
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: immediately splits and they were talking about that's where like
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: that relationship was severed in that moment, and I just
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: was like, damn, I never would have noticed that, but that's.
- 1:13:13Speaker 7: Yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: That's cool.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: I like stuff like that. So that's what I had, Rob,
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: Did you have any trivia?
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: I had a couple of things. During a shot of
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, a billboard can
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: be seen promoting someone named Strawberry, and that's a character
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: from Sean Baker's earlier film red Rocket And I love
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: when when directors do stuff like that. That's Tarantino does
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: a lot of that stuff.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: What that burger place, I can't remember what the.
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: Burger place, the apple cigarettes. He has different things that
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: he does. The F word has said four hundred and
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: seventy nine times in this film, nice, which is pretty good.
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: It's a lot good. And one thing I saw just
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: on a clip somewhere was that the film costs like
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: six million dollars to make or something, and they spent
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: on the Academy Awards campaign like Triple they spent nineteen
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: million dollars on the Academy Awards campaign, which completely worked.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: That's wild. Yeah, they worked well for them, big time.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: That was a lot of money on those awards. That's crazy, yep, crazy,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: that's cool. Yeah, nice?
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: Yeah, did you have anything, Sammy? I know, no fear cool? Well,
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: will there be a sequel? Judgment day?
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: I doubt it?
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: No, Honora to electrically.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: We have been friends for a minute.
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: We are the same person. Sweet, I can we can
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: agree there's not going to be a sequel. Then, will
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: you guys like to play a gate?
- 1:14:54Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: I did a starting five, but to name my five
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: favorite actress from a movie you ring in with your name.
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: If you get it wrong, there's no negative points, but
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: you won't be able to guess again for that movie.
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: If their actors' names remaining, you can guess those for
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: a point each. The other person can steal if you
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: get any of those names wrong. All of these films
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: have something in common. When you know the theme, you
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: can ring in at any.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: Time for a point. Boo yah bou.
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I will say it's a tougher one. Okay, okay,
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: so we're ready feel bad if we don't do great.

- 1:17:18Speaker 4: Woman's name, and that that is the only so that
- 1:17:22Speaker 4: it's not going to be like Molly's game.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: It's just a one word title as.
- 1:17:27Speaker 4: A one word title, and it's a woman's name, which
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: makes it difficult. I will say that there are some
