  Speaker 2: I am Sherri Mackey and it's time right now for

  Speaker 2: today's word. Stop trying to earn what grace has already given.

  Speaker 2: Ephesians 2, 8 and 9 says, for it is by
• 0:14
  Speaker 2: grace you've been saved through faith. And this is not
• 0:18
  Speaker 2: from yourselves. It is a gift of God, not by
• 0:20
  Speaker 2: work so that no one can boast. You know, sometimes
• 0:24
  Speaker 2: we make our relationship with God harder than it's supposed
• 0:28
  Speaker 2: to be. We know we're saved by grace, but we
• 0:31
  Speaker 2: still find ourselves trying to earn God's approval. We believe
• 0:35
  Speaker 2: we got to work harder, pray harder, do more, perform better,
• 0:38
  Speaker 2: and somehow prove that we're worthy.
• 0:40
  Speaker 1: Of his love. But here's the good news. You can't
• 0:44
  Speaker 1: earn a gift. Grace is a gift.
• 0:47
  Speaker 2: Many believers struggle because they try to mix grace with works.

  Speaker 1: We live as though Jesus.
• 0:53
  Speaker 2: Did his part, but now everything depends on us no
• 0:57
  Speaker 2: we mess up and we think we gotta punish ourselves
• 0:59
  Speaker 2: we fall short and we think God must be disappointed

  Speaker 2: in us we make a mistake and we spend days
• 1:05
  Speaker 2: years trying to work our way back into God's good
• 1:08
  Speaker 2: graces But grace says, come on back to me. Grace
• 1:12
  Speaker 2: doesn't give us permission to live however we want to.

  Speaker 1: Grace gives us the power.
• 1:17
  Speaker 2: And freedom to live differently because we know we're already loved.
• 1:21
  Speaker 2: The law says do this and then you can be accepted.
• 1:24
  Speaker 2: But grace says you are accepted through Jesus Christ. Now,
• 1:29
  Speaker 2: let me transform your life. See, that's a completely different mindset.

  Speaker 2: You don't have to wake up every morning trying to
• 1:35
  Speaker 2: convince God that you're worthy of his love. You don't
• 1:38
  Speaker 2: have to compete for his attention. You don't have to
• 1:41
  Speaker 2: perform your way into his presence. Jesus already paid the price.

  Speaker 2: Your salvation is not a reward for how well you perform.

  Speaker 1: It is a gift received through faith. So stop. Stop
• 1:53
  Speaker 1: trying to strive. Stop trying to do things and just
• 1:57
  Speaker 1: start trusting.

  Speaker 2: Stop trying to earn what God has already given you

  Speaker 2: through Jesus Christ.

  Speaker 1: And when you fall short, don't run away from God.

  Speaker 1: Run toward him.
• 2:06
  Speaker 2: When you make a mistake, confess your sins. He's faithful
• 2:09
  Speaker 2: and just to forgive you and cleanse you of all unrighteousness.

  Speaker 2: You just receive his forgiveness. You get back up and
• 2:16
  Speaker 2: you keep moving. Grace means. God's goodness toward you is
• 2:20
  Speaker 2: not based on your perfection. You are saved by grace.

  Speaker 2: You are sustained by grace. You are strengthened by grace.

  Speaker 2: And you can rest in the finished.

  Speaker 1: Work of Jesus Christ.

  Speaker 2: Lord, thank you that we are saved by your grace

  Speaker 2: through faith and not our works. Help us to stop
• 2:36
  Speaker 2: striving to earn what you've already freely given us. And
• 2:39
  Speaker 2: when we fall short, remind us that we can run
• 2:41
  Speaker 2: toward you instead of running away from you. Teach us
• 2:44
  Speaker 2: to receive your grace. Trust your love and allow your
• 2:47
  Speaker 2: grace to transform us.

  Speaker 1: The way we live.
• 2:50
  Speaker 2: Thank you for loving us when we don't deserve it
• 2:53
  Speaker 2: and for giving us what we can never earn in
• 2:56
  Speaker 2: Jesus name. Now that's your word for today. Take it,

  Speaker 2: apply it to your everyday life and you continue to
• 3:02
  Speaker 2: be encouraged and inspired. It is your early morning praise party.
