• 0:00
  [rock music] Howdy, y'all.
• 0:21
Chewie here, still in Texas. So welcome to Chewie's Launch, number 30. This is part two of the Mayday Mayhem trip we took to Osage, Iowa. Uh, this was recorded live in the Limestone Brewery.
• 0:34
If you haven't, you should go back and listen to, uh, podcast number 29, which started this whole mess.
• 0:40
So what you're listening to now is where, uh, Spinner and I decided to jump on, uh, Derek and Adam, um, about possible scandalous start to the clunker race. Just kidding. It was all in fun.
• 0:54
Uh, once we settled that without any lawsuits or anything, uh, we had a bunch of other people stop in. We had Sven talk for a little bit. Trevor and Christine Bridges stopped in and talked.
• 1:05
Even- we even let Dave Luntz talk. So, uh, give a listen. Here you go. So can we get to the real problem, the reason we have both of you on here at the same time? Uh-oh. What happened? Huh? This, this race was rigged.
• 1:17
Oh, was it? Oh, yeah. You should have seen it. You should... You remember. You were at the start. I was at the start, yeah. Yeah, I was there. You and, you and Joe were up there yakking. Or was it you? I think it was...
• 1:26
No. Oh, you were talking strategy- Yeah, yeah... at the beginning of our clunker race. Oh, Chris, I didn't want to ride the super techy line unless I had to. [laughs] I believe it was strategery. Yeah.
• 1:37
[laughs] Strategery. Whatever you, whatever you two clowns wanna call it, you cheated. Yo, I hit a teeter mid-lap one time. Not all of them all the time, but I hit a teeter-totter mid-lap. During the race? Yeah.
• 1:46
Oh, yeah. Oh, tight, tight, tight. Yeah. And you know, and he, and, and he did go out and do one lap on my bike. Hey, you gotta, you gotta level the thing, right? Yeah, so I will give him, I will give him kudos.
• 1:56
He is definitely the winner. Yeah. I had to... You had a good point, you know? Second place guy would not ride my bike. First and third rode my bike. Jerry. This is my buddy, Jerry.
• 2:03
Maybe because he was riding my ass the whole time. God dang. Jerry- He was a fit guy. He's a fit guy... my, my buddy, Jerry, he played bass in my, in our band, Highway 9. Great. Yeah. Um- And was he on the...
• 2:13
He's, he doesn't, he doesn't- He was on the Pro Flex... he doesn't mess around. Yeah, yeah. He has a Scott Spark, though. Jerry told me. Jerry, obviously.
• 2:19
Which is hilarious because if you look at the rear suspension on that thing, you're thinking Walmart bike. Yeah. Yeah. It was in a weird spot. Right? Yeah. It was in the, uh, seat stay tube. It just looks weird.
• 2:28
Well, it's mid-mounted to the middle. Right, yeah. K2 ended up buying that design, like, in the early 2000s and framing the ground bikes. It just looks wrong. It just looks wrong.
• 2:35
And, and even, even- It doesn't look right... uh- It doesn't look wrong. And you know what? That bike is sold. It probably could qualify as a clunker. That was a 20-year-old bike. Well, and I had to beg him. No.
• 2:42
I had to beg him to bring it down. Yeah? He's like, he's like, "I'm gonna... The tires are gonna..." He's like, "I'm gonna go over the bars." Like, it's so tall and vertical and short and 26. Yeah. It's just weird.
• 2:54
Like, it's... It was- Was it seven, zero? Pro Flex did not have good geometry. They were like- It's terrible geometry. No, no, it is...
• 2:58
they were, like, trying, they were, like, trying to sell their suspension is what they were trying to do. Well, I, yeah, it's- Yeah... courtesy nothing... that was a pretty open market then, though, too. True.
• 3:04
Like, people were just trying shit. It was a lot less, yeah. It looks cool. But he was right on Adam's tail, man, the whole time. It was a, um- No, these three, those three clowns can bite me. Was it a battle?
• 3:13
It was a fun race- No... uh, because- It was, it was a draft and a sprint to the end because those three guys were riding- He was drafting off you? No, no, no. Oh, my God. They were, they were- No, no, no.
• 3:21
No, yes, they were. Timeout. [laughs] It was, it was fucking roadie shit from the word go. [laughs] No, here's the deal. Jerry, Jerry- I, Jerry would be, he would be like... Here's what he told me.
• 3:31
You wanna hear what he told me? Sure. He said- Uh-huh Yes... "There, I could have passed him a couple times- Yes... but I was afraid he was gonna kick in his extra gear." That's what I was gonna do.
• 3:39
[laughs] That's what he said. I, no, no, purposely- I'm just telling you what he said... rebating him and like, "I'm just gonna keep him right back here."
• 3:44
Well, we had been talking, or I was talking at him constantly, just like, you know, courtesy stuff like calling that hole- Right... and things like that.
• 3:52
And, uh, it was a fun thing, 'cause I was on an El, a 2006 El Mariachi, so it's still pretty- But that's a classic bike. But, yeah. Yeah. But more classic aesthetic, single speed, rigid.
• 4:02
Is this, is this the, the single speed one? Yeah. I have one of those also. Yep. It's a IMD. The root beer cream. Yep, yep. The root beer cream. Yeah. It was a limited edition. Waterford made those frames.
• 4:12
Is it like 100 or something? Like 100 of them. Yep, yep. Yep. It's a beautiful bike. It's a beautiful bike. It's amazing. But when these guys passed me, it was like being in a fucking road race.
• 4:19
[laughs] And then, and Adam comes up, he goes, "Hey, number one coming behind you, and two and three." And I'm like, "Fuck all of you guys." [laughs] Well, you were on the bridge. I had to give courtesy.
• 4:27
I was like, "Hey, Chewie, uh, poor timing on our part," but- But the loose cannon, the loose cannon was Trevor. I don't know how you don't fall over riding that slow, actually. [laughs] Well,
• 4:35
I can tell you the story, the story of the race. The loose cannon was Trevor, 'cause Trevor wasn't too far back. Oh, yeah? So this ties everything. Right, yeah. So Jerry and I were ride...
• 4:43
We rode the first lap, and we're riding the second lap, but I am definitely dropping the pace in time. So we could have maybe, I, I maybe would have exploded if I had to really race him right then.
• 4:56
It was a fun play that my 29er single speed and his at least fully geared, 'cause all the straightaways, I'd catch him in the woods, and then I'd hear the clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk. [laughs] You know?
• 5:08
And I'd be like, "Goddamn it, Jerry." And here he'd come, you know? Yeah, yeah. 'Cause he could just out-gear me on those. Sure, yeah. So we had been talking, like, uh, towards the beginning of the third lap.
• 5:17
I hadn't seen Trevor ever. I had no idea where he was, and I had only seen us the entirety of the race. And I'm like, "How do you wanna, you know, how do you wanna do this?
• 5:26
You wanna just keep rolling at this pace, and we can sprint or whatever you wanna do?" Like, it had been a great ride together, you know? Him behind me made me ride better.
• 5:36
You guys definitely, you guys definitely bobbed it. Me in front of him made him ride better and, and faster.
• 5:40
On a single speed, it's always nice to have that guy right on your tail because it does make you- Extra pedal stroke... yeah, exactly. Yeah... all that stuff, you know?
• 5:46
Because, yeah, like, your cadence jumps up a bit before the... and you didn't want to. Yeah, yeah. But then Trevor is this- But then he, Jerry goes, "Hey, there's a guy behind us."
• 5:54
[laughs] And I turn around and I go, "Son of a bitch, Jerry, it's Trevor." [laughs] And I don't know if Jerry knows who Trevor is. So when you guys, so when you guys passed me- He might not. He might not...
• 6:03
like, you guys got to, like, there's like that little-... yeah, so you were at the second one, and all of a sudden Trevor goes, "Moth, come and buy in." And I'm like, "Okay."
• 6:11
And I'm like, "Oh, they don't know he's here." [laughs] Yeah, we just figured it out, 'cause I remember saying to like, "Jerry, forget everything I said." [laughs] Like, [laughs] you know, now I'm...
• 6:23
If you pass me at this point, 'cause I did say, I set the pace for us, but it was just a nice way that it worked out more than anything. And passing isn't, isn't a super premium spot.
• 6:34
There's not a, there wasn't a lot of places, yeah.
• 6:35
So whether Jerry could or couldn't have, I, I would actually lean probably towards could, but the race dynamic is great until Trevor got there, and then at the end [laughs] I had to like- Now we have to try, dammit.
• 6:47
Yeah... I'm like doing like racy shit where I'm going up the, the little punches, and I'm like intentionally not putting that last pedal stroke in. So I just kinda coast over the top. Oh, you block them?
• 6:57
Oh, hey, what a gentleman. [laughs] You tried to stop them on the uphill? And you did. No, I didn't, I didn't stop them, I just didn't give them the extra room. Yeah. Yeah.
• 7:04
And basically, the first, the last corner- You stopped them in the worst part. That's strategy, man... the last corner before the whoops, single speed Jerry. Strategic. Single, single speed strategic. That's resilient.
• 7:12
That's magnificent. That's fucking... Yeah, that's exactly what it is, yeah. That you just didn't have to, right? Yeah.
• 7:16
I, the, the worst thing that ever happens, and you guys have all done it 'cause you've all rode single speed bikes, is, is that you- Get slow in front of a guy... bunch- No, no, you bunch into somebody's ass...
• 7:25
what pisses me off is like, you, you, because, because they like your line, 'cause we, we learn how to ride, we ride lines just like everybody else, right? It's different line.
• 7:31
And you'll have those guys that'll ride your ass- Yeah... for like three, four miles in a course. And then when they get to the road crossing or whatever- Right... where they can sprint, they sprint by.
• 7:39
And it's like, "You fuckers have literally rode my ass, learned how to ride a bike following us," and then, the single speed guys, and then you take off and you go click, click, click, and you go away.
• 7:49
Yeah, I wouldn't apply that in this case necessarily to Jerry. Sounds like you did. Uh- It sounds like you were- Jerry's so polite... it sounds like you were making moves out there...
• 7:57
it was just a great, it was just a great ride. It really was. If you came for a checkers ride, you were playing chess, man.
• 8:01
[laughs] You know, you know, here's the great, here's the greatest thing about this whole conversation. Always. Fair. We're all riding old shitty bikes. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, seriously, you're talking...
• 8:08
This is like, this is like seriously a, a- It was the perfect level of race for the event. Yes. They raced Jerry in, in gear shift in.
• 8:15
Jerry is so polite, but he did tell me he felt if he passed, you had an extra gear, and he was worried about that.
• 8:21
Well, I knew where there was two spots towards the end that I was like, "If he goes around me, I'm going to unload right here" [laughs]... just to see what he does, right? You were saving some? Like, I'm going to...
• 8:35
Yeah, the, well, the first lap- Well, it would've gotten interesting. I would, I, like we were kinda hoping that we'd see a jockeying of leader, you know?
• 8:40
Last corner before the whoops towards the finish, I washed out the first lap. That, like, kind of more- Oh, yeah... black dirt one. Yeah, you, there was a couple- I put a foot down and my rear end washed out.
• 8:50
You had a big skid mark on that. Yes. Yes. It just flared out. And not of his, not of his control. And there was a couple corners out there that the camera- This was on the trail... it would've been on for the turn.
• 8:58
It would've been on my pants, yeah. So you had to like really... I mean, the skill of riding bike today mattered. It really did. To a degree, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. With, given all the constructs, right? Yeah.
• 9:06
But so that last turn, it was, there was that like false up and right that kinda kept going up, and it was like a punch. Yeah.
• 9:13
You look at it and you're like, "This shouldn't be much of a climb," but it felt more like a climb every time. Yeah. I feel like you're talking about licorice w- licorice roots. No.
• 9:20
No, this is the very end right before you get to the bar. Oh. Like, like literally the end. Yeah, right before, the, the, the last whoops coming up to it, yeah.
• 9:26
You come out of the whoops and then you- You're coming out of the brid- yep, the three bridges trifecta area. Yes. You go there, and then you hit that right that comes up. Yeah, that's a little puncher, yep.
• 9:33
And I was like, at that right, 'cause I had heard him shifting every lap. Chess. You heard a clunk, clunk, clunk? Chess. Yeah. I hear him shifting every lap.
• 9:42
I'm like, if I, if he passes me and I see him shift, I'm immediately gonna get out of the saddle and just go until I bleed out of my eyes. Yeah. Right. And just to- Which- 'Cause you can't respond-...
• 9:51
he wouldn't have had much more to, to go anyway... he couldn't respond at that time. Right. Right.
• 9:54
And so that was like the race dynamic, but honestly, the most fun was that I felt that our raciness, and even Trevor's raciness once he joined the group, was perfect amount of hospitality and courtesy to each other.
• 10:09
Yeah. And like, uh, Jerry caught a pedal on that hole in the last lap and I was like, "Oh, shit, you good, man?" 'Cause like, okay, whatever, right?
• 10:18
Like, this is still a more community-oriented event that has a small race within it that like- Well, we're in the Mid- we're in the Midwest. Yeah. It's orientated. [laughs] This isn't a time to be worrying about race.
• 10:29
It's not oriented, it's orientated. Orientated. I heard that the other day, orientated. Well, ir- We say that in the Midwest... did they tell you that it was irregardless of what you thought?
• 10:38
[laughs] 'Cause that's also not a word. Everybody says orientated. Now it's just all semantics. When I- All the broads... when I, when I lived in Pittsburgh, I said orientated. It's not even English.
• 10:46
And the, the fucking record went, "Eee." I'm like, "Oh, it's oriented." Yeah. Yeah. But you said it properly. Oh. Well, I blacked out, so I don't even know. [laughs] You were just busy winning today, so.
• 10:56
Uh, no, it, it- Well, it was a good race. It was, it was a great- Absolute, absolute cheating going on there. The, the plotting those two had going on at the very start was ridiculous. I was at his house last night.
• 11:06
I know. Like- On the couch. But you came up from Des Moines to do this, right? I came up from Des Moines yesterday just 'cause... So Gomez had texted me- Des Moines...
• 11:14
like two month ago or so, and obviously Derek and Joe are in the Levis, uh, community that we all love to meet people at Levis, uh, and it shares a special place in all of everyone that I know at this table's hearts.
• 11:29
Well, that's why there's teeter, that's why there's teeter-totters here- Right... from Levis. And so- Oh, really? That's where they came from? Well, Derek's Levis, you know? And so Gomez was like, "Should we do this?"
• 11:38
And I was like, "I think it would be a great idea for us to meet there," uh, just like all you and show just, uh, support, uh, to the efforts and to adding single track that's be- I, I don't know if I can say better than I thought because I see so much of Joe's content.
• 11:55
But like, I came here expecting to ride pretty damn good, you know, Midwest classic, twisty, rocky, rooty, single track, and it's exactly what I got, and I couldn't be happier- Well-... in that regard, you know?...
• 12:10
it, it's a perfect place that- Not everything has to be a fucking climb, a, a death march to the top. Right. If that's what you have in your area, that's fine.
• 12:18
But it, but it, not every race, every ride you go do has to be that. Like you say, the, the trails are a blast to ride here. It's, it's tight, tight, tidy, twisty enough that it's not flowy, so you've gotta...
• 12:31
I mean, it's- They're not the most novice trails. Yeah. No, they're, yeah, they're not. Right. Like, you're, you're on the pedals pretty much constantly. Yeah.
• 12:37
There, there's like- It's a harder day than I expected, I gotta say. Well, I, I would say that a local's gonna kick butt on anybody that come in just riding here, because they know how to take those types- Every line.
• 12:46
Ri- exactly, yeah. You're gonna know where to hold speed and get off the corner. Right, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, this is a place you save energy riding smart. You know where to let off the gas. Yes, exactly.
• 12:52
But I, I liken those to places like Levis and, uh, on bigger scales, Levis, Decorah, uh, even Sugar Bottom in Iowa City. Like, when you know really where you need to ride, your overall taxation and effort,
• 13:07
even if you're riding faster, goes down. Well- Because they have definitive- And when, when we learned- Yeah, exactly. Right. Yeah. You know, there's ways to pick through the stuff- Yep... that's just not as bad.
• 13:15
The second lap was a lot better than the first lap. Yes, absolutely. Yeah. Right? Like, once you saw a couple of those things, you're like, "Oh, I could even almost hit that," or whatever.
• 13:23
Just- Uh, there was the one spot where the trail went right and there was a, there was a drop, and there was actually a cut where you went through two holes if you went to the left. Yes. I went to the left of that one.
• 13:32
[laughs] Yeah, yeah. There's a hole with a stick in it. You know, like, you know. [laughs] Yes, that was the hole that Gary caught on the last lap. Oh, it's a weird marmot. Nice marmot.
• 13:38
[laughs] Skinner, I just wanna know if that had anything to do with, like, the whiskey shots that you had, like when you passed by Billy's Bar. Um, I did shots every time. I think maybe we were the only two that did.
• 13:48
Um, I, I do- I feel like I'm sitting in between, like, the shot winners. No, I'm, I'm just saying- That definitely happened. Yeah. I mean, definitely made it more fun. That's all. But no, I mean- Yeah...
• 13:55
there's just, the, the terrain here, like after you went through the first time, you knew where the tricks were and you knew how to carry speed.
• 14:01
You can get high in this corner, or where you can, like, get, get your speed before the little hill. I, I do have to a- admit, I was kinda hoping to go back out in the open and come back down through this. I was too.
• 14:08
'Cause I seriously think that third time through that rock bed at, at- Yeah... the very beginning of the start, we would all have figured out a line by now. [laughs] Yes. I, I, I feel like I was the worst at all that.
• 14:18
I would've carried, I would've carried my bike. If we had to ride that every time, I would've carried my bike.
• 14:21
After the second time I went through, I'd just fucking- I wanted to originally do that and take more bodies to get people around. Oh, no, I go underwater. And I just thought it's easier to wrap down at the bottom.
• 14:27
But yeah. I was riding and I was like... I was, after a... Well, before the break, breaking of the chain, I'm like, anything can happen out here. If we gotta go through that concrete curb garden again, somebody can flat.
• 14:37
I mean, I can still win this. Dude, when I- [laughs] When I went through- I was going like, yeah... so my plan was to get it in there, 'cause I figured I knew I could ride that section. Like, I can ride this section.
• 14:47
You can ride like- I just don't wanna get stuck behind somebody. Yes, because you know a guy and you cheated. I, he gave me- [laughs] He gave me schematics. You guys are drafting in a clunker race. This is...
• 14:55
You guys are- You guys are just lucky I took the aerobars off before I got back to the Billy's Bar. [laughs] You know, that's really where it's at. Thank, thank fucking God.
• 15:02
[laughs] Uh- Um, I hate to be awkward here, but I have to pee like a Russian racehorse. Uh- Why is your- What should I do? Me too. Go to the bathroom. Go to the bathroom. Okay. Go find somebody else to jump in.
• 15:12
Don't pee in your pants. All right. Yeah. Just wash your shoes. Should I get Joe to hop in? Shannon usually pees, dudes. Yeah, get Joe. He peed on her feet, so if he just wanted to walk back. I'm gonna go grab Joe.
• 15:18
Go grab Joe. You know, you're starting to, like, kind of fulfill your thing. Joe, you have 15 minutes to get back. Thanks for having me, guys. We're gonna go, we're gonna go...
• 15:23
No, thank you for coming, and thank you for putting this on more than anything else. Oh, I just... It was awesome. Thanks for bringing us out here. I loved it. Joe, go crazy.
• 15:28
You brought a lot of people from a far distance away, and everybody had fun. Yeah, it's been a wonderful day. Nobody's bitching one bit, so it was a great time. Any time. Yeah, we'll be back. I'm gonna send Joe in.
• 15:36
We, we, we figure with Decorah- All right. It's time for Joe Pro, if he's still here. All right, bring him over. Where is he at? Joe Pro. I'll send somebody in. Where is he at? Yeah, he's here. Peace out, Brokowskis.
• 15:43
Is that him? Oh, no, he, he's collecting empties. Thanks, Derek. Can we get another round? I need to... I can't reach. Oh. No, uh- Can you tell somebody else to bring it?
• 15:52
Hey, see the, [laughs] see the guy there that's, that, with the beard? Could you ask him to go get... This guy here. 'Cause I really can't. Our producer. Yeah. Greg Smith needs to go get us some beers. Greg Smith. Hey.
• 15:59
If you- No, let's just talk to him for a minute... go talk. You wanna talk, sit down and talk for a bit? I'll go get beers if you talk. I got, I gotta piss. Oh, my God. I can bring them back. So you can bring beers back.
• 16:08
Okay. We'll just, uh- I think my card, I think, is up there. Oh, here. So I have mine. Okay. So... I got... My tab's open. There they go. I think mine is too. Are you in, are you in now?
• 16:16
Are you running this show like a pro? Oh, yeah, without a doubt. [laughs] I'm nowhere near the mic. I, well, here's the thing. I haven't,
• 16:24
I have not been listening to it because you guys are all quiet and it's noisy in here. So you have- So I've, I have no idea what you guys have talked about...
• 16:30
oh, so, uh, we- Except that I might've heard Adam's story- We did great... a little bit in advance, but... Isn't that great? Yeah. Yeah, we told that. Um...
• 16:37
Well, let's, let's, what, what is your opinion of the ride today? Well, it was great. I loved the trails.
• 16:43
I'm just woefully out of shape, but it was still fun and- I, I think, I think we gotta figure out a camping trip over here. Yeah. I think that... Okay, so- They should touch on that more. Which, I know. Yeah.
• 16:53
Because we're, Gomez and I are camped at the Spring Creek, or Spring Park, and the trail literally run right past our van, my van, and his, uh, Gomez. Your, your van and his truck, right? Like tonight. Yeah.
• 17:04
Yeah, that's right. Last night. Oh, you're camping here? We camped last night and tonight. Oh, really? Okay. That's what I thought. That shit looks familiar, and that was you guys. Yeah, [laughs] that's us, yeah.
• 17:09
[laughs] Yeah, we've been hanging out there. Now we know. I was like, uh- It's, it's definitely one of the things that Derek and I talked about, and like, this is awesome.
• 17:17
I think that y- we should play up the camping angle more. Yes, we could go. Because now the party goes from the end of the event until tomorrow, not ends at the brewery, which, this is an awesome brewery too, by the way.
• 17:28
And it's, it's only- Yeah There's axe throwing behind me... miles... I mean, I mean, the fastest way to get here is only a mile and a half, isn't it? It took us about 12 minutes to ride here. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
• 17:35
From the campground? Yeah. Yeah, maybe 15. Uh- Oh... but we were kinda trying to cruise because, uh, we didn't wanna get all sweaty coming in. Those, those, those uphills were kicking my ass on the way back in.
• 17:45
[laughs] Yeah, but now we go home downhill. Why is this all... Yeah. You know? Yeah. Why is this all uphill into this place? Tomorrow morning, it'll be fun. I know. It finishes up, but now- There you go...
• 17:52
I'm looking forward to going back to the campground. [laughs] Well, it's also an, it's also a place that could support shenaniga- sh- sh- sh- shenaniganses. Oh, if you- Shenanigans? Is that... Yeah, okay. Thank you.
• 18:00
Sh- sh- sh- sh- sh- shenanigans. Yeah, those things. That things. Uh, no, I, you're right, because, because we could- I know nothing about that... we could literally
• 18:08
grab a campsite and you could start fun stuff right out of the campgrounds. Yeah, right. You know? And, and just do whatever. Oh, even... Yeah There, there's a lot of potential.
• 18:17
And, and the trails, the trails are awesome. They've, they've- Well, it's a nice park. Yeah. It's a nice campground. There's, uh, some more small toilets, but there's a whole shower and, you know, good toilet.
• 18:28
There's, like, a lot of good stuff in that park. And they, um, um, the, they seem... The, the campsite seemed to be, like- It's $5 a night per person, by the way. Five, $5. Dude, are you kidding me?
• 18:42
Are you fucking kidding me? I was just gonna say- Speaking of-...
• 18:43
they're ni- they're not, they're not, like, they're not, like, super rustic, but they're, like, nice and s- like- They're just minimalist enough- Yeah, yeah...
• 18:49
that you can have privacy and chill by the river, which is beautiful, too, at night. Yeah. And they're fi- they're fucking $5, dude. Like- It's the, it's the Cedar River, right? Yeah, Cedar River. Yeah.
• 18:58
It's a good size river even here, before it gets into the where- Yeah, and it was pretty and moving last night... it starts to be big and cat smelling and all that stuff. Full moon last night or pretty damn close.
• 19:06
It was cool. Uh, it was a full moon on May 5th. Did you guys go riding? Uh, no. Yes, last night? We just were chilling. It's, you know. We hung out with Joe and Derek. I rode, uh, with Joe and Derek, giving them secrets.
• 19:16
Cheater secrets. Mm. And then- Oh... met Gomez and then, uh, hung out and then went back to the van and just kinda hung out. Yeah, I think that's definitely a, a, a good thing to more promote next.
• 19:28
Well, they have four events. I'm sure Derek talked about it, right? He did, yeah. He did, yeah. They have four events a year, so.
• 19:32
It's, it's not like there's not camping to be done, although in February it might be a little chilly. You never know. Oh, no, you saw- Well, maybe not this year. [laughs] You're, you're in- Yeah...
• 19:41
you're in tropical Iowa now. It's nice stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Good stuff. You're, you're 20 miles north and you're not in Minnesota. It's cold as fuck, you know, but it's nice down here.
• 19:48
It's, it's like a balmy 50 degrees here now. It's great. [laughs] In May. Hey. I'm, I'm trying to get number three to come in and say, "Trevor, get..." Are you trying to get Gomez? Just look up. Or Luntz?
• 19:59
No, it's Trevor. Trevor. Trevor, Trevor, get over here. Trevor. Luntz is like, "I got you. I got you." All right. I can- [laughs] We wanna put... Oh, Trevor can go in Spinner's. Yep. There you go.
• 20:10
Yeah, and then Spinner can just take mine, because I'm gonna go to the restroom after he gets back. Okay. All right, Adam. Right. This is perfect timing. See how there's, see how good- Hey, Trev. Food please.
• 20:17
Do you see how a good showrunner keeps the show moving smoothly? Not me. [laughs] Mine i- it's- That's why I'm out wrangling stuff for you. Yeah. He's got, he's got this... I, this is what we're gonna do.
• 20:26
We're gonna just, like, just go. You have to come up to my house. You lost your spots. Sorry. Oh, no. Spinner, here. Have mine. Thank you, guys. All right? A- Adam, thank you for your- Hey. Yeah...
• 20:33
wonderful stories forever. It was awesome. Great day. And thanks for forcing me- [laughs] /letting me ride your bike. Hey. That wa- definitely put a stamp of legitimacy on the laps. I, I agree 100%. I agree 100%. Yeah.
• 20:44
[laughs] You two are the only two that did it. Yes. Trevor, yeah. Right on. All right, Adam. Thanks, Adam. Adam Blake, everybody. Now, you're good. Hey, Trevor. How you doing? Good, how you been?
• 20:56
I'm doing fantastic right now. I, it's, it, it, it's come to the point between you and Kristen that I just bump into you guys.
• 21:04
It's like I did not, I should have expected to see you here today, but I go places and all of a sudden there you guys are riding your bikes again. No matter where you go. Exactly. There they are. Yeah.
• 21:15
I walked in and she's like, "Shannon?" And I'm like, "Yes, I'm here." Oh. Yeah, we could do- I feel like you're stepping- Yeah... I feel like you're stepping on me. It just happens to the, a lucky happenstance, so.
• 21:27
Let's- I'm stoked that it happened. Yeah, let's talk to Trevor, because, uh, I, you know, he was hanging back for the first couple laps, but that final lap- Yeah. We were-... suddenly Trevor was in the mix.
• 21:37
We were talk- uh, uh, Adam Blake was talking strategy. Yes. And we were giving him shit about being a roadie and those guys riding, like, one guy behind the other.
• 21:45
And then, and I, I said, when you guy- when those three pass me, Adam goes, "Hey, number one coming up, and two and three." And I'm like, "Okay," and I stepped off to the side.
• 21:54
[laughs] And I, they're at the second little bump and all of a sudden here you come blowing by me and I'm going, "Oh, they don't know he's here." [laughs] Yeah, for sure. I, I think it- These are all everybody's beers.
• 22:03
Thanks. I think it's funny- Oh, I got mine over on the steps. I think it's funny to see- Which is not in front of me. Now we all have beers. Which is not in front of me.
• 22:08
Hey, I just wanna say before we get too far, I just gave Garrett a New Jersey meat hook. [laughs] Did you really? [laughs] You gave who a meat hook? He loved it. He laughed the whole time. Who? [laughs] Oh my God.
• 22:18
Which is good, because your wife was standing there there and I'm like, "It might have to be her." And then he walked up and I'm like, "This is better." [laughs] That's, that's how he got the New Jersey meat hook.
• 22:24
That's called the New Jersey meat hook, by the way. Spinner. [laughs] Spinner, but did you put his head in a fucking fan? No. No. The ceiling's a little taller here. Yeah. I, I, I, I feel that. Yeah. Yeah. Anyways.
• 22:35
All right. So back to, back to Trevor telling us how he coerced these guys into- You were strategizing and sneaking up, I heard. Oh, he was. Yeah, he was. Yeah.
• 22:42
You were, you were, you were being a sneaky agent in the back, in the third place. I, I don't know if there's much strategy in, uh, joining a cl- clunker, like, 1980s race. Well, that, that was a thing.
• 22:52
Like, when we started talking strategy at the beginning of the race, I'm like, "There shouldn't be strategy in a clunker race." No. I'm hearing rumors of drafting going on. [laughs] It was...
• 23:02
I, I still, I still say it was funnier than shit, because it was like, here we're all riding crappy bikes and there's still the same fucking race strategies as i- if you're on s- $10,000 bikes or $350 bikes.
• 23:15
[laughs] Hey, it was $150- It's just funny... and like a hardware store window 50 years ago. [laughs] Yeah, right. So- Some of the shit we're riding today.
• 23:22
But then what th- th- they didn't really discriminate, but you had, like, a full suspension downhill bike. [laughs] No, I brought that out here.
• 23:29
But I purposely, like, brought a rigid, uh, actually drop bar road bike that I put flat bars on, and I actually bought it from Adam a while ago and, uh, just turned it into a beater clunker and thought that was the best, uh, steal for the unit.
• 23:44
Yeah? And- So that's an awesome bike. There was a wide range of bikes today. It was. It was, it was like you can't really give anybody shit, 'cause the guys that were on, like, super blingy bikes were helping.
• 23:56
They weren't, they weren't racing. Right. Right? Right. Yeah. Well, yeah, there was, there was a, there was- Oh, by the, but did I, but did I mention to you guys I was still in the top 10 today?
• 24:05
Because there was nine racers? Yes. [laughs] You didn't have to fucking say that, asshole. Yeah. [laughs] No, but, like, a- and we started looking at the bikes today, like, there were some GTs from the '90s. Yeah.
• 24:15
Like, there were some, like, those mid, late '90s bikes, early 2000 bikes that were, like- Those probably, I, I don't know if you can call those clunkers, but they're- Have you ridden any of them recently of, from that vintage?
• 24:25
No, I didn't ride then. They are super scary. Yeah? Yeah. They're high and unbalanced? I, I don't know how we rode them back then, but your, your, like, your seat's over the rear axle.
• 24:34
You got a 150 millimeter stem in front of you. It's like going down some of those steep shoots, I'd be like, "I'm going over the bars, I'm pretty sure."
• 24:41
[laughs] Would that be better than the 1973 Western Flyer road bike? I don't know. No, I, I'm not positive that that's not better. Yeah. I think if the chain stayed on the Western Flyer it would've been like a- Yeah...
• 24:51
clutch deal. We had a few issues today. You know. Well- Excuses as- Yeah, I think that's your best excuse. For, you know, I'll- I think you would've won otherwise. Yeah.
• 24:57
I, and I'd forgotten that's happened to you before. Yeah. Well, it's, it, I mean, I had 50 pounds of air in each tire. I mean- Oh, dude...
• 25:04
'cause I try to get them to set, so, like, that's why I stopped and let air out on the ride out. But I mean, I'm, it, it was fun to...
• 25:12
We've talked about this before, but when you, you, you're like, I have, like, the best bikes there are.
• 25:17
I mean, with all the new technology and gears and brakes and hydraulics and shit, but when you go out there and you take a bike and you've gotta, like, start, like, thinking about your corners for a coaster brake, you know?
• 25:27
And you're not gonna have that front brake, and your geometry's a little bit weird, and you gotta think about where the tire's gonna go, that's fun. I mean, it's a fun day.
• 25:33
No, I think it's the first thing I did because I rode a full suspension, like, 140 travel bike out here to the trailhead, and then I jumped on the bike that my wife rode out here, which was a rigid, like, road bike.
• 25:45
You gotta get closer. There you go. And, uh- There it is... and, and I, I jumped through the first, like, rock garden- Mm-hmm... and I thought I was still on that bike and I- [laughs]... I about died.
• 25:54
[laughs] You thought you were still on the bike that could handle it? [laughs] I was like, "I'm gonna hit this. I'm gonna send it," and then all of a sudden just like, "Holy shit." Yeah. "I'm gonna die here."
• 26:02
But, and it, it just opens my eyes for me, like, how the technology of bicycles has changed. Like, where you don't have to think about those things today. And then, like, today where you do that, what do you...
• 26:12
You, you have to think about more how you ride and how that's gonna work.
• 26:15
I mean, and you- Oh, it's definitely, like, line choice is like a, a- Your line choice matters a lot more on a fucking clunker than it does on a suspension for a bike... definitely deal. Yeah.
• 26:23
The, the forgiveness is, like, a, a whole new level. Yeah. Yeah. So that made it fun. You and I are sharing a mic, by the way. Oh, shit. [laughs] You have to get really close. Can you hear?
• 26:34
Yeah, you ha- you almost have to make out to use the mic. Yeah. Like, like when they're singing, singing solos- You two, you two will be wearing the same mustache. Ready to go. Or, or duets I should say. [laughs] Yeah.
• 26:42
Just pretend it's me, dear. [laughs] New guest, Chewy. Who's our new guest? Yeah, Chewy, who am I? [laughs] Oh. [laughs] Don't do that. Don't do that to me. He's got Alzheimer's. He's 70.
• 26:57
[laughs] Uh- I, like, like, like we were talking earlier, it's like everywhere I go, you two are there. Oh, well then I'm Christine. Oh, yeah. I called you Kristen, didn't I? It's okay. I go by numerous names. Yeah?
• 27:08
I'm also the cheese girl. Well, no, I realize that, so yeah, so you- Does she go by Sugar Mama? Oh, we did, we did... Well, where was it we did? Sometimes, yeah.
• 27:15
[laughs] She used to be the Sugar Mama when I was in a bike shop- Saint Patrick's Day... but now we're kind of balancing that Sugar name. There you go.
• 27:21
Yeah, we were, we, we did a Saint Patrick's Day ride up in Rochester, and I walk into LTS and she's sitting there. She fed the whole group with cheese. I'm like, "Ha, wa, huh?"
• 27:32
And she, and she, and she did bring the best cheese. The, uh- Where'd it come from, from Iowa? HyVee. HyVee. [laughs] Oh, that's not the best cheese. I lived in Wisconsin for a long time. Well- Are you offended as I am?
• 27:43
I am, I am moderately offended. No, it's, it's, uh, called, um, Carolina Reaper cheese. Oh, that's spice. That's not cheese. And it's pre-spiced, and it's phenomenal.
• 27:52
Anything that's so hot that it doesn't taste like cheese is- Yeah... pretty hot. I like horseradish cheese, but I would not go Carolina Reaper. No, no, no, and we put it... What, where did we put it on? It was- Toasts.
• 28:01
No, that was it. Yeah. It was- Me and Triscuits, and then we had the homemade bread from... Jeremy brought homemade bread and Barry brought homemade bread.
• 28:15
The, the, uh, the best part of the whole thing was Jeremy made a, uh, um, a pot pie. [laughs] So he baked it all- Not that guy...
• 28:22
so he bought it from Costco, those great big fricking pot pies, and he made it, and then he just put it in a zippy bag. [laughs] Oh, really? So it's like this just mash of shit in a, in a bag. [laughs] Like stew.
• 28:33
Stew with a crust. It was awesome. Yeah, in a, in a bag. Yeah. Everybody ate plenty of them. We could squirt it down the bag so easy. It's, like, better than, like, uh, walking tacos.
• 28:41
You could get, like, walking pot pies. Ooh, pasties he's calling them. Yep. But put them in a bag and make it all- Pasties... make it all stewy. Yeah? Don't, don't, don't make me have to cut it. Just put a fork in there.
• 28:51
Yeah? Or just, like, hold it like a chalupa. That, that's a million-dollar idea for somebody right there. There you go. Anyways. Bag made bread and cheese. So why didn't you race today, by the way?
• 29:02
Oh, Trevor took my bike. Oh. Not, not without influence. I tried to influence you. Babe, there's only room for one of us to win this race. [laughs] Yeah. I influenced as much as I could. Uh- Yeah?...
• 29:13
I got thrown under the bus and got told to ride bikes. Oh. So I did. Totally. That's the worst when you show up to a bike race and then you have to fucking ride. [laughs] What the hell? Yeah.
• 29:22
But someone held up my beer drinking the other day, so. Oh.
• 29:25
Well, to be honest, there would've been a lot less riding on my part if we hadn't done the, the pace lap or the, uh, the, the scenic lap before the racing started. That was a long ways out there, actually.
• 29:36
Yeah, it was good. Yeah. I mean, that was great. Otherwise, like I said, mm-mm.
• 29:40
I think that was clutching, like, knowing where to go though is, uh, having kind of a pace lap and pick a line and- Yeah, no, that was definitely awesome... get choosy. Yeah.
• 29:47
And it's, I mean, it really showed everybody here, everybody who came, I mean, there's people from Milwaukee, people from Des Moines, and they got to see what Osage has to offer, and then
• 29:57
all the work that they put in here. I mean, there's... I'd had no idea it was this weird. It's, it's been a ton of work. I've, I've, my, my parents live in town here and that's- Oh, okay...
• 30:05
kind of why I've been coming here for a while and it's, it's awesome to see what, uh, Derek and Joe and some of the other crew has been doing. They have a solid crew of people putting in a ton of work here. Yeah.
• 30:16
It's, it's awesome. Yeah, and, and you know, the four events a year thing I think is definitely worth pointing out again because it's an opportunity to see four seasons in Osage. Oh, yeah. It totally is. Mm-hmm.
• 30:27
And they groom these trails in winter, too. They do Yes. And I appreciated that half the people that came out today had never, ever, ever been on these bike trails before. Yeah.
• 30:37
And there's some really cool detours, so even if you're not comfortable on the single track, they still have a way for you to go around. Mm-hmm. So you can watch everyone do all- Definitely...
• 30:47
the stupid things [laughs] I definitely snuck that in at that last one with that big downhill left-hand curve. Yeah. It's like, yeah, I'm not...
• 30:53
I can see the road, I can see those guys down there, I'm like, "I'm gonna take the road part now."
• 30:56
Yeah, no matter if you, there's single track everywhere you wanna go, but then there's also just a easy two track to just cruise- Absolutely... wherever you wanna go to. Yeah.
• 31:04
And it's, like those can- like where we started on the trail to do the race, you can go like nine miles farther and just go to a bar and grill and have breakfast or lunch, whatever.
• 31:14
There, it's awe- Oh, and that's all on like a double track? Yeah, you can ride all the way to Mitchell. It's like eight or nine miles, and it's awesome. I've taken my nine-year-old kid there. Mm.
• 31:23
Or, and my teenagers there. It's, it's awesome. So it's a, it's a good adventure for anybody. Yeah. Mm-hmm. So how long do you want this show to go? Where, where are we at now? 62 minutes- Oh... and 11 seconds.
• 31:37
Let's go to 69 minutes and cut it off. [laughs] 60, 69. Oh. Giggity. Giggity. [laughs] Well, in that final seven minutes, you know what you do. Yeah, what do you need? Dave Lunz. No way. Dot com.
• 31:50
We don't have Kayla to translate. I'll go grab him. No. Yeah, go grab Dave. No, he's not even hammered today. I know it. We might be able to understand him. Here. Gomez on.
• 31:58
Gomez came from a long way away, and he has Hank, which is like one of the original- What if I fucking slap you right now? [laughs] All right, I'll go- I like Gomez. Fuck off. Here, I'll go grab Lunz.
• 32:06
I didn't say I didn't like him. I'll go get him. I'm just not doing a podcast with him ever again. [laughs] All right, everybody. Okay. Dave Lunz. Oh, you don't- Toodle pip and all that rot...
• 32:13
no, you're so- He stole, he stole my... [laughs] He, wait. He, wait, he stole- What is this? That is a full beer. I don't know. This is a full beer, and it's now mine. [laughs] This is great. I bought five beers.
• 32:21
I've, I've been buying five beers every time I went up there, and I don't care who drinks 'em. I get one. Well, I appreciate that. Yeah. So this is the Iowa one. Yeah. He brought your beer back. Iowa Light.
• 32:30
The Iowa Light. Yes. The Iowa Light from Limestone Brewery is- Yeah, brewed in the middle of everywhere. Yep... very good. All right, here you go. Prepare yourself, folks. Here comes the man of the hour.
• 32:44
[growls] I don't want that one. The man of the hour. You're interviewing him, by the way. I am? Oh. He's sitting in your chair. What's my first question? That- Whatever I want? Yeah. Why are you still alive?
• 32:51
[laughs] Yeah, why are you... [laughs] There you go. [laughs] All right. All right. Now he's on. Say something. Ask him if he's ever been body slammed in a bike race. Have you ever been body slammed in a bike race?
• 33:05
Well... I, I wasn't in a bike race, but yes. [laughs] It, it was at a race. You weren't racing, but you were there. Right. [laughs] And, and how was that experience for you? It was all right. Oh.
• 33:18
I was probably more scared than you were. It was, um, it was kinda hard to do bong hits for a couple weeks, but, you know, whatever. [laughs] He's like, "Dude, dude, you broke my neck, dude. Ah." [laughs] Right. Right.
• 33:29
And, and, that, that, that was before edibles, but [laughs] like, so I s- I struggled that way. What could've made that better for you? Uh, him not body slamming me.
• 33:38
[laughs] He was talking shit in the middle of the bike race. I was coming through, and they're heckling me- I told-... and I knew they're gonna... I totally forgot she's a school teacher. Oh.
• 33:47
[laughs] She does have a school teacher voice, now that you say that. Although we answer questions. I, I, I, I'm a school teacher too, but I, you know, I, I'm a shop teacher, so...
• 33:56
He's, he's, he's- We should put that in the, in the notes, but still... he's a professor. Yes, he's a professor of welding. Thanks, Professor Puck. I, I, I could still swear at my students, so that's pretty cool.
• 34:07
I, I, I was a little worried I'd have to clean up my potty mouth, but wow. [laughs] You're, aren't you, like, teaching felons? I am. Yeah. Yep. So I, no potty mouth. If you're a felon- Yeah, exactly...
• 34:17
I think the potty mouth's gonna- I, yeah... yeah. I can fucking, I can swear at 'em and, like, yell at 'em, and they're like, "All right, cool." Like, you know, regular students are like, "Oh my God, my butt is hurt.
• 34:26
You yelled at me like this." My butt is hurt. [laughs] Sorry. [laughs] Favorite part of the day? [laughs] My favorite part of the day? I love he- This has gotten PG really quick.
• 34:41
[laughs] [laughs] I'm a... I teach, like you, you teach felons, I've got middle school students, so I have to rephrase it to be appropriate. Okay, fine. I'm sorry, what's the question again?
• 34:54
[laughs] Favorite, favorite part of the day? Uh, today? Any day. Um, I don't know. Today was, like, drinking beer, hanging out, partying. Um, excuse me. Um- [laughs]...
• 35:10
favorite part of any day is, um, I don't know, whenever waking up and then fucking having a great day, you know? Yeah. This is why Dave makes a great podcast.
• 35:18
[laughs] I, yeah, I was just gonna say, no, this is, this is why [laughs] I, we couldn't have put two more, two better people together, just right there. [laughs] That's- [laughs] I don't know why-...
• 35:27
the, so my, so my podcast, uh, uh, always pretty much- It's like opposites attract... my, yeah, yeah... opposites reject.
• 35:31
[laughs] My, my podcast is always pretty much everybody's drunk and stupid and then babbling dumb shit. And then, and then all of a sudden now we have the schoolmarm and the professor- Wow...
• 35:40
dumb shit, talking to each other, and it just like, it went really fast. [laughs] So yeah, um- Do you wanna get in here for no reason at all? So, so Dave, Dave, get in here. Put the headset on.
• 35:49
Yeah, you can have the headset on and just fucking- There you go. Hey, hey Chewy, Chewy- Yeah? Yeah... as long, as long as I don't sound like I did at, uh, Berkeley, uh, I'm- You're, you're live on ABC News.
• 35:58
[laughs] What's your name? Blip, blip, blip, blip, blip, blip. Stop it. Oh my God. We had a local that tried to join in. Hey, you got Crocs on. Let's go. Yeah. Crocs on friends. Oh my... There's multiple Crocs. Yeah.
• 36:09
[laughs] Oh, I didn't know it was- Dave has Crocs on. He has headlights on his Crocs. You notice this? I didn't know it was Cr- I didn't, I didn't know it was- He's got headlights on his Crocs.
• 36:16
[laughs] I didn't realize it was Croc Saturday. So we're, we're in this fucking back room- Yeah, we're wearing Crocs... of this brewery, and there's ax throwing going on right next to us- I love it...
• 36:24
and there's, uh, women wearing Crocs. And, uh, a local tried to jump on the show and then she got scared. Oh, that's 'cause you asked her what her name was and she freaked out. [laughs] Yeah. I could give her a name.
• 36:34
So you're supposed to, you're supposed to ask for the alias. Your name is Calamity Jane. She, she might be part of, like, witness protection or something like that maybe, you know? So- Yeah, no, Sage- Oh.
• 36:43
Oh, Sage has all the- Osaki You're going to win this protection because you know Sage, is that what you're saying? Yeah, yeah. So anyway, Axewire next. All that chance of accident.
• 36:51
My brother's wife is from there, actually. Should we do Axewire next? That's fine. I'm very good at it. It's part of my heritage. [laughs] We've done that before. Me and Dina did the league.
• 37:02
And, uh, yeah, it's all right. It's fun. Yeah? Yeah. Now we know. We're all sitting here watching Miguel throw the ax. He refused to say her name on. Yeah. Yeah. And she threw it right in the middle of nothing.
• 37:20
Ah. So she should probably go back to podcasting. Yeah. This is kind of cool, though. They got the elimination stuff like now.
• 37:27
Where we went, they just had like a big slab of wood with targets painted on it and stuff like that. This is improved. All right. Hey, you know- Have we hit 69 minutes yet? No, we have like, uh, 45 seconds. Okay.
• 37:41
So you can- 45 seconds? You can do your closing if you want. Um, nah, I already did. But you know what? I just want to say thank you to everybody.
• 37:48
This was, there's an appetite for events like this where it's not a huge competitive event. I mean, because I've done, you know, Fat Bike Birkie and Single Speed USA and stuff like this.
• 37:57
This was like a small local community thing that they ran very well. Um, a lot of people had fun. You could ride as hard as you wanted to. Like we talked Adam Blake and his strategy, you know? Yeah.
• 38:08
Most people didn't do that today. He's still a cheater. But most of us came and we had a great time riding bikes and drinking beers in the woods. Don't laugh, your husband was a cheater too. Oh, God.
• 38:16
Oh, was he a cheater? He was riding with that clown. You know what the best part was? What? Uh, when we stopped for beer and I didn't ride. When you lost your coin last night?
• 38:24
Oh, you're talking about- Oh, that had to come up, didn't it? It had to come up. Fuck that coin. I lost my coin because of your bullshit last night. Whatever. Give, give them back and you keep my fucking coin.
• 38:34
I don't give a fuck anymore. So if you ever see Dave out, challenge him because he does not have a coin. [laughs] Does anyone mention the fact, though, that- I'm not part of the game anymore. I ain't buying it...
• 38:42
you two- Hold on, hold on. What's up?... took like multiple shots on the round that I- Well, you had to do shots in the middle. Yeah, no. But here's the thing.
• 38:50
I think Shannon was telling, like I came through, did a shot, and then second time I came through, she's like, "Chewy did two last time." Which I don't know if he did or not. He did do two.
• 39:00
It- But then I think she was just playing off. She's like, "Oh, Chewy did more than you did." No, I did three. And when you came in, she probably like, "Spinner did more than you did." [laughs] Oh, yeah.
• 39:07
I totally played that. She was like feeding off of it. There's no doubt she played. Yeah. So, so I went- Well- Yeah, we went from one shot in there. Well, and then it was, I don't remember. It was- What was it?
• 39:15
Gold honey? It was like a honey vodka or something. I have absolutely no idea what that was. Yeah, honey whiskey. Honey whiskey? I only took a shot last night. It's pretty good. Yeah, yeah. I had three.
• 39:21
How many shots did you take? Zero. What the- Me too [laughs]... matter with you? I had some Jungle Juice. You guys have catching up to do. Yes. I had Jungle Juice, and that was all I needed.
• 39:30
Well, that, Jungle Juice has become a thing now. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I had a little bit of that, but- A thing? I- Oh, we drank one last night. Last night got kind of ugly.
• 39:39
You, it was, it was similar to when you guys did the house. I don't remember last night, actually. I remember we got to Haymarket. I remember the coin is like the last thing I remember last night.
• 39:47
[laughs] That, that was, yeah, that was a disaster. The coin situation at the Haymarket. Yeah. I thought we were done talking about that. No, we're gonna keep bringing it up until you die. [laughs] Whatever.
• 39:57
Or until I kill you. [laughs] But it was, it was, it was- Whatever, keep my fucking coin... it was very similar. My house was very similar to last night. Just give Spinner and Kayla theirs back and keep my fucking coin.
• 40:07
I don't give a fuck. No, she isn't going back either. Spinner's the only one that gets his back. I, she- You're, she, you are both- I was addictive... you are both multiple- She, she didn't take his.
• 40:18
She thought his was hers. Bullshit. Nope. True story. No. I was sitting right there. Whatever. We had so much. Keep my coin. You didn't listen.
• 40:28
No, no, nobody pulls it out anymore anyway, because everybody knows they got it. And like, if you pull it out, you're buying a fucking round, because you know everybody's got theirs. Yeah. I was buying a round anyway.
• 40:35
So nobody, nobody can pull them out. I'm making it interesting. Oh, fuck. So now are we gonna go to the next 169 or what? Me as well. 169? I don't know. Are we passed? We just blew it. Yeah. Okay. We got distracted.
• 40:44
We have to move on. You guys let Dave talk. I, I, yeah, we, everybody knew this was a bad idea, including Dave. [laughs] Especially- Do I need to apologize for sending him over? Yes. Especially with- No...
• 40:55
without Kayla here to interpret for me. No, no. So- But you'll have to listen to this now because the, the, because- I feel like I speak Dave, though, so I feel like we can talk. Uh- Shannon, you sent him over, though.
• 41:05
Yeah, he's not in a puddle yet. You gotta wait. I mean, it was- [laughs] And Chewy commented that he and I totally killed the whole mood of the conversation. No, I didn't say that.
• 41:14
It was, it was a middle school teacher interviewing another teacher that didn't go well. She teaches third graders, he teaches felons, and then they tried to figure out how to...
• 41:22
Well, this is our common connection, and there wasn't one. [laughs] Well, you know, there's something similar. I mean, they might both be third graders. I don't know.
• 41:28
I don't know if I fit anywhere in the middle of that at all. Ah. I feel like you guys might be on your own. Yeah. You're in the middle. Yeah, you're in the middle. Unless you guys just want to drink beer.
• 41:35
But the funny- And then I feel like we have a tie now... but the funny thing is I can swear in my shirt and you can't. Oh my God. She does under her breath.
• 41:43
I, I, I lit up one of my shirts one night and like lit F-bombs, MF bombs like left and right. I'll try to wrap this up. I'll try to put some- Oh, you, no, you did, and then- Sidetracked. Maybe we should end...
• 41:53
and then... Should I turn Dave's? Should I turn- We're talking about maybe doing like a s- Yeah. No more cowbell. Okay. The world does not need more cowbell. I can't turn them off. Yeah.
• 42:04
[laughs] So we talked about maybe doing like a short series of these type of events where it's just like, I mean, we drew people from Milwaukee and stuff like that. To feed me on day one.
• 42:13
If, if you want to come here and do like this kind of party, do like a, a series from Decorah to Osage to Mason City, which has all these trails. Yeah.
• 42:21
And then we maybe do something that, you know, brings people in, but it's gotta be like once a month. So like you have like your May, your June, July, and your- And then you're done with it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
• 42:29
Because you don't want to make it a- Well, and think about it. They do four events here a year. You don't want to do more than that. Yeah.
• 42:35
You start getting carried away with it, you, it's hard, it's hard to keep your volunteer staff up. Yeah. And, and that's, that's a big part of it because we saw that in Decorah with Single Speeds.
• 42:45
We've seen that with Single Speeds everywhere. Yeah. You start to burn people out because you need- Yeah... so many volunteers to do so many things. And you, if you just do like, "Oh, we have one event here.
• 42:55
Let's go participate in somebody else's event." That was the nice thing about today. That was fun. Yeah. All right. And that was good. So, so- No, say goodbye. I don't want to talk to you anymore.
• 43:03
So if you do nothing- I fucking- So, so if you do nothing, you don't get burned out. Na, na, na, na. Na, na, na. Hey, hey. Goodbye. [laughs] Fuck off, Dave. Peace, love, and rainbows. I hate doing this.
• 43:18
I'm not doing this anymore. I don't get paid enough for this shit. Yeah. Yeah. This is your idea, motherfucker. [laughs] Listen. Hey, listen up, everybody. I want you all to knock this shit off. [laughs] What?
• 43:32
Oh, it's- I'm taking your trophy. Oh, you don't... No, no, no. Don't even think about it. [laughs] That's it. Oh, wait. Oh, wait. No, no, no. Wait, wait, wait. Oh my God.
• 43:50
  [laughs] [outro music]
