- 0:55Speaker 1: Shane which getting a goal in his first game back
- 0:57Speaker 1: from injury. But now the Kracken force to put a
- 1:00Speaker 1: las in Vegas behind them and set preparations up for
- 1:04Speaker 1: one final go of the regular season. In Game eighty two,
- 1:08Speaker 1: going down tonight in the Mile High City. Mike Benton
- 1:11Speaker 1: with you for kracking this morning. On a Thursday, April sixteenth,
- 1:14Speaker 1: the Kraken and the Colorado Avalanche tangle for one final time,
- 1:18Speaker 1: third and final matchup, and for the Kraken, they're looking
- 1:22Speaker 1: to put an appropriate winning bow on this regular season.

- 1:29Speaker 1: Colorado has checked off virtually every regular season box here

- 2:14Speaker 1: Back from Network Central. We're gonna hear from cracking forward
- 2:18Speaker 1: Shane Right in a bit. Additionally, Vince Dunn. Those two
- 2:20Speaker 1: with their thoughts on last night's game in Vegas coming
- 2:23Speaker 1: up in just a bit, plus also reaction from krakenhead
- 2:27Speaker 1: coach Lane Lambert. First up, it was a long time
- 2:30Speaker 1: coming for Shane Wright, who got his first goal since
- 2:32Speaker 1: the fourth of February in a game where the Krakend
- 2:35Speaker 1: held a one nothing lead until the deeper stages a
- 2:38Speaker 1: period two before Shaye Theodore tied the game and the
- 2:41Speaker 1: Golden Knights eventually ripped off four unanswered goals, capped off
- 2:45Speaker 1: by a two goal night from Riley Smith. Nonetheless, in
- 2:49Speaker 1: spite of a tough season, Right picking up this twelve
- 2:51Speaker 1: goal of the year playing in a new line with
- 2:53Speaker 1: Yannie Newman and Coppocaco, and Right had more reaction meeting
- 2:57Speaker 1: with the media after last night's game.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Wanted opposuly, but uh, for yourself, you must have felt
- 3:02Speaker 5: good to get back out there tonight.
- 3:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it's great to be back.
- 3:06Speaker 4: You know.
- 3:06Speaker 6: It always sucks, you know, missing some time like that
- 3:08Speaker 6: and missing games and yeah, I mean it's just just
- 3:11Speaker 6: good feeling to be back, good to be out there
- 3:12Speaker 6: with the guys, you know, battle with them again.
- 3:15Speaker 5: In terms of the goal itself, just being out that front, opportunity,
- 3:19Speaker 5: what can what you can you describe it a little
- 3:21Speaker 5: bit what happened there?
- 3:22Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, we're just kind of put a puck
- 3:25Speaker 6: on that there, and you know, Yann need to go
- 3:26Speaker 6: job win in battle almost against two guys I think,
- 3:29Speaker 6: and yeah, just able to find a find a spot
- 3:32Speaker 6: there than that, and you know Yannie was able to
- 3:34Speaker 6: get the puck there and just put it in.
- 3:36Speaker 5: For you, when you're not playing, you're trying to come back,
- 3:39Speaker 5: do you think about what you're gonna do this summer?
- 3:42Speaker 5: Get better improve some of your play for sure?
- 3:45Speaker 7: For sure?
- 3:46Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 3:46Speaker 6: You I mean you always want to be You're looking
- 3:48Speaker 6: for ways to improve. And you know, I wasn't sure
- 3:50Speaker 6: if I was gonna be able to get back in
- 3:52Speaker 6: the lineup, uh for for a little bit there coming
- 3:54Speaker 6: to the end of the season here. But yeah, I
- 3:56Speaker 6: mean thinking about it a little bit, but you know,
- 3:58Speaker 6: not worry about that. This sold game to go tomorrow
- 4:00Speaker 6: and you don't worry both.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Offseason offet down and back for three by Stone centering
- 4:04Speaker 1: attempt bunk back left side for Icle, hanging on to
- 4:08Speaker 1: it into the slot. Hurtle Tella for Stone.
- 4:10Speaker 2: What a say may by Coco on the right pad
- 4:13Speaker 2: Tony's Mark Stone and gets a cover up with five
- 4:17Speaker 2: fifty seven lefts in the first period.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Oh wow, what a stup.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Yeah, that was huge by Coco.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Tough pat that nick A Coco had to face in
- 4:25Speaker 1: the last night's game, taking the losses by thirteen saves
- 4:28Speaker 1: on fourteen shots through the first two periods of play,
- 4:31Speaker 1: a few stops also coming from the Great a variety,
- 4:34Speaker 1: including a right pad save on Mark Stone in a
- 4:37Speaker 1: Vegas power play back in period one before Vegas got
- 4:40Speaker 1: three right past him in period three. On twelve shots
- 4:45Speaker 1: on net, the Kraken had twenty three in last night's game.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Vince Dunn had four of them, and he had more
- 4:50Speaker 1: thoughts on the night where the Kraken fell to Vegas
- 4:52Speaker 1: for the only time this year in four matchups.
- 4:55Speaker 8: Well, I think it kind of leaked from the second period,
- 4:57Speaker 8: Like we got pretty into the game from the start.
- 5:00Speaker 8: I thought we were fine. It wasn't a perfect game
- 5:04Speaker 8: by any means in the first period, but I thought.
- 5:10Speaker 4: We did what we needed to do.
- 5:12Speaker 8: We looked at some things and we know we had
- 5:14Speaker 8: to make some adjustments, but I thought we were pretty
- 5:16Speaker 8: competitive and making some plays and for checking, and then
- 5:21Speaker 8: halfway through the second it all falls apart. Were making
- 5:26Speaker 8: things just way too hard on ourselves. We're all like
- 5:28Speaker 8: over complicating passes and not putting ourselves in good areas
- 5:33Speaker 8: to succeed with the pocket. It's not just making plays
- 5:36Speaker 8: with it, but when you're dumping it in or when
- 5:40Speaker 8: you're trying to pass the guys to to get onto
- 5:43Speaker 8: the four checker into the neutral zone, it's got account
- 5:45Speaker 8: and you got to put them in good spots. So
- 5:47Speaker 8: I thought from the second half of the game, we
- 5:49Speaker 8: were just chasing the game the whole time.
- 5:51Speaker 5: To see Coco in three straight games, what do you
- 5:54Speaker 5: think of his party of work this week?
- 5:55Speaker 8: Yeah, he's he's been great. I think tonight he held
- 6:00Speaker 8: his own. He made a lot of great saves and uh,
- 6:04Speaker 8: it's pretty good at playing the parks. So it's not easy,
- 6:08Speaker 8: especially with the way things have been for our team,
- 6:12Speaker 8: for him to come in right now, and uh, it's
- 6:16Speaker 8: I think he's playing as best as we can ask
- 6:18Speaker 8: him to. So it's nice to to know we have
- 6:24Speaker 8: some depth and uh, I think we can definitely make
- 6:29Speaker 8: things a lot easier on him. I mean, it's not
- 6:31Speaker 8: not always gonna be uh on the goalie to to
- 6:35Speaker 8: make the saves. We got to slow the game down
- 6:37Speaker 8: and give him a chance to succeed.
- 6:39Speaker 5: For you, he's gonna make adjustments to you guys. Do
- 6:42Speaker 5: you guys have to adjust to the way he plays
- 6:45Speaker 5: or is it more just where he likes?
- 6:47Speaker 4: They're people to be so we could see the.
- 6:49Speaker 8: Poper uh Well, from a goalies perspective, it's pretty much
- 6:55Speaker 8: the same. You play the same way no matter who's
- 6:58Speaker 8: back there. I think him and Joey played the puck
- 7:01Speaker 8: a lot, Grooby not so much. But as far as
- 7:04Speaker 8: their gameplay, it's it's pretty much similar. They asked the
- 7:07Speaker 8: same things out of us, and it's just on us
- 7:10Speaker 8: to make things as easy as we can. Let them
- 7:12Speaker 8: see shots and.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Thought.
- 7:15Speaker 8: From the start, we let them get into the game
- 7:16Speaker 8: pretty good, and then we made things really hard on himself.
- 7:19Speaker 8: We were playing the D zone far too much and
- 7:22Speaker 8: that's not a good recipe to help a goalie out
- 7:24Speaker 8: or to have good energy for us to go out
- 7:27Speaker 8: and score goals.
- 7:28Speaker 7: Have Shane come back just overall the day off, get
- 7:30Speaker 7: his first goal since Ebery fourth, How did that look.
- 7:32Speaker 2: For Shane and just getting them getting them back in
- 7:34Speaker 2: for the room for the last two goods here.
- 7:36Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, again, it's a tough time to come in
- 7:38Speaker 8: and shows a lot of character for him to come
- 7:41Speaker 8: back with two games that don't mean much in the standings.
- 7:46Speaker 8: I mean, it all means something to us. We all
- 7:48Speaker 8: have something to play for. But it's nice for him
- 7:51Speaker 8: to come back and battling to get one tonight. So
- 7:53Speaker 8: happy for him, and yeah, it's it's always better to
- 7:58Speaker 8: have everyone into the lineup, so it's good.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Backing a coach.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Lane Lambert began his observations on Vegas, who pulled away
- 8:03Speaker 1: in period three, leaning into one source that's been and
- 8:06Speaker 1: a bandage for them for quite a while.
- 8:08Speaker 4: Well, they turned up the physicality.
- 8:11Speaker 7: They're a big hockey team and they started to own
- 8:15Speaker 7: pucks down on our zone and we spent too much
- 8:17Speaker 7: time in our zone.
- 8:18Speaker 4: But the bottom line.
- 8:19Speaker 7: Is is that physical play and the size of their
- 8:22Speaker 7: hockey team.
- 8:23Speaker 4: We couldn't find an answer for that. The penalty kill
- 8:27Speaker 4: was strong though tonight.
- 8:28Speaker 7: Did you see a difference in that game there tonight,
- 8:30Speaker 7: especially considering a young goaltender seven there. Well, he made
- 8:33Speaker 7: a great save in their first period, and I thought
- 8:35Speaker 7: we were pretty solid in the second period, and you know,
- 8:38Speaker 7: on the kill, this is this is now a couple
- 8:40Speaker 7: of games where we haven't had a power play. You know,
- 8:43Speaker 7: if again, if we're owning pucks and making them take
- 8:49Speaker 7: it away from us, you know, eventually something happens.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Where you draw penalty. But if you're not owning.
- 8:56Speaker 7: Pucks and you're getting beat physically and almost every battle,
- 9:03Speaker 7: you're not going to get a power play. You're gonna
- 9:04Speaker 7: get penalties and you're gonna spend a lot of time
- 9:07Speaker 7: in your zone.
- 9:07Speaker 4: And that's exactly what happened. Starting about five minutes into
- 9:11Speaker 4: the second period.
- 9:13Speaker 5: Vince said that toward the end of the second period,
- 9:15Speaker 5: middle of the second period, the guys stop playing simple
- 9:18Speaker 5: and we're trying to be making maybe a few too
- 9:21Speaker 5: many passes.
- 9:22Speaker 7: You agree with that, Yeah, I don't understand why our
- 9:24Speaker 7: hockey team can't sustain a sixty minute game. You know,
- 9:30Speaker 7: that's it's got to change. And we refuse to move
- 9:40Speaker 7: the puck up quickly, we take it back into our
- 9:43Speaker 7: zone and we turn it over and you know, it's
- 9:49Speaker 7: over and over again, and this is why we we
- 9:51Speaker 7: have to defend so much.
- 9:52Speaker 4: So I can say there's there's a lot to think
- 9:57Speaker 4: about here.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Got a body of work of three games from Coco.
- 10:00Speaker 5: What'd you take the week he's had.
- 10:02Speaker 7: Yeah, he's played really well. Obviously, he played good tonight,
- 10:06Speaker 7: you know, I think, uh, you know, and talking to
- 10:09Speaker 7: the goalie coach will.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Get a little bit more.
- 10:12Speaker 7: Clarity as to what he thought of his game. But
- 10:15Speaker 7: from my standpoint, he made some saves for us, there's
- 10:17Speaker 7: no question about I thought the kid, uh, you know,
- 10:20Speaker 7: he has confidence. He plays the puck pretty well, you know,
- 10:25Speaker 7: but that's a thing where you know, turned it over there,
- 10:28Speaker 7: almost got scored on.
- 10:29Speaker 4: But you know, those are things he's a going to learn.
- 10:32Speaker 7: And b there isn't a lot of rhythm with the
- 10:34Speaker 7: with the defense here in this in this in this team,
- 10:38Speaker 7: so you know, there wasn't maybe quite enough enough clarity.
- 10:41Speaker 4: A couple of times for him, But I thought he
- 10:43Speaker 4: was good. Shane right was somewhat critical of his own
- 10:46Speaker 4: defensive game.
- 10:46Speaker 6: I'm sure the entire team would be obviously, but what
- 10:49Speaker 6: did you kind of think of his game as coming back.
- 10:51Speaker 7: In general, I thought he showed his speed and I
- 10:55Speaker 7: was happy with his game. You know, he has an
- 10:59Speaker 7: element of speed that was noticeably missing, and certainly when
- 11:02Speaker 7: it came back into the lineup today, I thought he
- 11:04Speaker 7: did a good job of using it. It was announced
- 11:06Speaker 7: just before the start of the game that Jane Warns
- 11:08Speaker 7: would be available today. Do you anticipate he might be
- 11:11Speaker 7: available tomorrow for the last game?
- 11:13Speaker 4: Well, that's that's a good question. I don't know.
- 11:18Speaker 7: We'll see what happens in the morning. You know, he
- 11:21Speaker 7: wasn't available tonight. The next game is less than twenty
- 11:24Speaker 7: four hours away.
- 11:25Speaker 4: So we'll see him. Came in the last game this season.
- 11:29Speaker 7: Well, I'm looking for us to compete, and I felt
- 11:33Speaker 7: like the game turned on a couple of different reasons.
- 11:36Speaker 7: We've got a goal now, Whether we started to sit
- 11:40Speaker 7: back where they turned up the physicality.
- 11:44Speaker 4: And then we.
- 11:44Speaker 7: Started making stupid place Let's not play a dumb game.
- 11:48Speaker 7: Let's play a smart game against a very good offensive
- 11:50Speaker 7: hockey team. We've got to manage the puck. Our game
- 11:53Speaker 7: management is leaves a lot to be desired right now.
- 11:57Speaker 1: So the Kracken settling for three wins out of four
- 11:59Speaker 1: and the head to head series against Vegas, their attention
- 12:02Speaker 1: turned to Colorado, where the Cracker are trying to salvage
- 12:04Speaker 1: one win and three tries against the Avalanche for this
- 12:08Speaker 1: regular season series. It's the only time the Kraken will
- 12:11Speaker 1: visit Colorado for the entire regular season. Last time out,
- 12:14Speaker 1: the Kracken fell to the Avalanche five to one back
- 12:17Speaker 1: on March twelfth. Nathan McKinnon so far has been a
- 12:20Speaker 1: handful and then summoned this head to head series. With
- 12:23Speaker 1: seven points combined and the two head to head matchups,
- 12:27Speaker 1: it appears the scoring race is out of reach for him,
- 12:29Speaker 1: seven points back of Connor McDavid, but McKinnon still one
- 12:33Speaker 1: hundred and twenty seven points in eighty games, very much
- 12:36Speaker 1: a part of the Herd Trophy conversation right now. He
- 12:39Speaker 1: is well on his way to winning the Rocket Rashard
- 12:42Speaker 1: Trophy also for most goals in the league this season
- 12:45Speaker 1: with fifty three as well in eighty games. He is
- 12:49Speaker 1: right now too, ahead of Cole kaw Field. To no
- 12:52Speaker 1: surprise in the end of back to back the Kracken
- 12:54Speaker 1: not holding a morning skate earlier today, so more clarification
- 12:58Speaker 1: on the lineups due to come in the late afternoon,
- 13:01Speaker 1: and are I right now on the goaltending position with
- 13:03Speaker 1: nick A Coco starting in the last three games, which
- 13:06Speaker 1: opens the door potentially here at the end of back
- 13:08Speaker 1: to back and at the end of the regular season
- 13:11Speaker 1: for Victor Osman, should he play, it will be his
- 13:14Speaker 1: first career at NHL Star, just like Coco, debuting last
- 13:18Speaker 1: season in a relief appearance. Billim Grubauer is also on
- 13:22Speaker 1: the trip with the team, but sitting out since April six,
- 13:25Speaker 1: when he sustained a lower body injury in a loss
- 13:29Speaker 1: at Winnipeg third and final matchup and Game eighty two
- 13:32Speaker 1: on the horizon. We can't wait to unfold it with
- 13:34Speaker 1: you for one last time this season on air, beginning
- 13:38Speaker 1: once again six point thirty puck drops a little past
- 13:40Speaker 1: seven o'clock Pacific time. Ever it fits you, Al Koniski
- 13:44Speaker 1: myself at Ballarino with you postgame. Andrew Sursus gotcha back
- 13:49Speaker 1: from Network Central. Well talk to you then for cracking
- 13:52Speaker 1: this morning. I'm Mike Benton.
- 13:54Speaker 3: You're home for the Kraken Sports Radio ninety three point
- 13:57Speaker 3: three kjr FM, Y
