- 0:22Speaker 1: to welcome back Dr. Annette West to our broadcast today.
- 0:24Speaker 1: As you may remember, we had a chance to talk
- 0:26Speaker 1: with her last month about her book, Purposeful Prosperity, A
- 0:30Speaker 1: Woman's Guide to Financial Peace and Intentional Living. Now that
- 0:34Speaker 1: the book has been out and I've had a chance
- 0:36Speaker 1: to complete it, I want to talk to you about
- 0:38Speaker 1: the response to the book, but also she has a
- 0:40Speaker 1: brand new project coming out at the end of November
- 0:43Speaker 1: that you guys can be a part of and being
- 0:45Speaker 1: able to find out how you can benefit from it
- 0:47Speaker 1: as well. Annette, welcome back to the broadcast.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Thank you, Cyrus. Good to be here.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Well, look, excited to be able to start the month
- 0:55Speaker 1: of November off with you. Annette, again, congratulations on Purposeful Prosperity.
- 1:00Speaker 1: It's been great watching you. I know you did some
- 1:02Speaker 1: interviews with my team, but also you've been sharing information
- 1:05Speaker 1: all over social media. Annette, what has it been like
- 1:07Speaker 1: for you to see the way people are getting not
- 1:09Speaker 1: only the principles in the book, but I think the
- 1:12Speaker 1: spirit of the book when it comes to not only preparation,
- 1:16Speaker 1: but also being able to see what they can do
- 1:18Speaker 1: to make a better life for themselves?
- 1:21Speaker 2: Great question. It's been, it is great. It has been great,
- 1:25Speaker 2: and it is great to see people even asking for more.
- 1:29Speaker 2: What more are we going to do? I got the
- 1:31Speaker 2: book now. What are we going to do with the book?
- 1:33Speaker 2: You know, I normally have a book discussion on Monday nights,
- 1:37Speaker 2: and we do varied books. Most often my books or
- 1:40Speaker 2: my clients' books. And so they're like, are we going
- 1:43Speaker 2: to do this one in book discussion? And I had
- 1:46Speaker 2: the birthday bubble. I said, this one we're not doing
- 1:48Speaker 2: in book discussion. Mm-hmm.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Well, there are so many great principles. As I mentioned,
- 1:53Speaker 1: I had not finished the book when you and I
- 1:56Speaker 1: had talked the last time, Annette. But now that I've
- 1:59Speaker 1: finished the book, what I thought, and I mentioned this
- 2:01Speaker 1: to you before you went live here, this book is
- 2:03Speaker 1: so much more than what I think people would even expect.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And I'll give you an example of what I mean.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Of course, again, as I mentioned, the subtitle is A
- 2:11Speaker 1: Woman's Guide to Financial Peace and Intentional Living. But what
- 2:14Speaker 1: I told you even the last time we talked, This
- 2:16Speaker 1: is a book that men and women can be able
- 2:19Speaker 1: to pick up and appreciate, not only when it comes
- 2:22Speaker 1: to thinking about their life, but also making sure what matters.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Talk to us about that aspect of that. What has
- 2:28Speaker 1: it been like for you to have men and women
- 2:30Speaker 1: see the practical value of the book?
- 2:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so here's a really, really great thing. My son
- 2:37Speaker 2: came to the book launch. And he sat through the
- 2:42Speaker 2: whole book launch from wherever he was. And he called
- 2:45Speaker 2: me afterwards. And he was like, Mom, I get this.
- 2:49Speaker 2: He was like, I know it's their women, but Mom,
- 2:52Speaker 2: this was so enriching. He was like, I can see
- 2:56Speaker 2: me and some of my guys talking about this. So
- 3:00Speaker 2: within this book, yes, it is broad. It's simplified and
- 3:05Speaker 2: yet broad. And my son was like, Mom, you gave it.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I mean, it was so clear as to where you
- 3:11Speaker 2: were going with it. So it was exciting for me
- 3:14Speaker 2: that my son came to, you know, to the launch
- 3:18Speaker 2: and sat through the entire launch and then called me
- 3:21Speaker 2: up to tell me what he got from it.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Yeah. And that's not surprising. You know, even you and
- 3:28Speaker 1: I had that conversation, I think, in another setting, you know, Annette,
- 3:32Speaker 1: that I felt like, okay, this is, This is something
- 3:35Speaker 1: that really is good for everyone. So let's go back.
- 3:39Speaker 1: For those who may have missed our previous conversation, you've
- 3:44Speaker 1: written other books before, both fiction and nonfiction. What is
- 3:48Speaker 1: it that prompted Purposeful Prosperity?
- 3:53Speaker 2: It's a heartbeat. I'll put it that way. Like I
- 3:56Speaker 2: said before, it's a combination of books that I was
- 3:59Speaker 2: working on. And I did not know it was going
- 4:01Speaker 2: to be purposeful prosperity. I did know it was going
- 4:05Speaker 2: to be a woman's financial guide. So I thought it
- 4:08Speaker 2: was going to be, initially, my plan was a financial book.
- 4:13Speaker 2: And I was just praying about this thing. And I
- 4:15Speaker 2: was like, oh, this is becoming cumbersome. And as an academia,
- 4:19Speaker 2: and I teach college courses, I was like, I don't
- 4:22Speaker 2: want those kind of courses in what I'm doing.
- 4:26Speaker 1: So I.
- 4:27Speaker 2: kind of shifted the script on that and say, you
- 4:30Speaker 2: know what, we're going to give these principles, but we're
- 4:32Speaker 2: going to give them with life application and we're going
- 4:35Speaker 2: to use real women who I fictionalized in the stories
- 4:42Speaker 2: because these are real examples that have been shared with
- 4:46Speaker 2: me through pastoral counseling and different things that I've done
- 4:49Speaker 2: through the years, life coaching. And so to bring all
- 4:53Speaker 2: of that together and build this book with these financial
- 4:59Speaker 2: principles in it, but they flow in such a way
- 5:01Speaker 2: that I believe the reader does not feel overwhelmed.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I agree. And one example of that is found in
- 5:08Speaker 1: Chapter 17 of the book, Annette, with Eleanor. And I
- 5:12Speaker 1: want to read a bit of what you said with Eleanor,
- 5:15Speaker 1: and I think what people will relate to with Eleanor.
- 5:18Speaker 1: For those who have the print edition like I do,
- 5:20Speaker 1: it's on pages 286 and 287. and this is what
- 5:24Speaker 1: you wrote, Annette, like many women, Eleanor had spent much
- 5:27Speaker 1: of her life focusing on immediate responsibilities. There were children
- 5:31Speaker 1: to raise, bills to pay, careers to build, parents to
- 5:34Speaker 1: care for, and problems to solve. Her attention had always
- 5:38Speaker 1: been directed toward what needed to be handled next, but
- 5:41Speaker 1: now life was entering a different season, and with that
- 5:44Speaker 1: season came a different set of questions. I want to
- 5:47Speaker 1: talk about that first, because I think a lot of
- 5:50Speaker 1: us are in, we don't like to call it survival mode, Annette,
- 5:54Speaker 1: but that's really what it ends up being, right? We
- 5:57Speaker 1: look at what's in front of us and that's the
- 5:59Speaker 1: only thing that we focus on because we liken the
- 6:01Speaker 1: situation here with Eleanor, you know, things that, you know,
- 6:05Speaker 1: feel like are pressing. But what was it like for
- 6:08Speaker 1: you through Eleanor's example and others to show that, you
- 6:11Speaker 1: know what, even though, yes, we have to take care
- 6:14Speaker 1: of the present, that there is nothing wrong with and
- 6:17Speaker 1: how essential it is to also think about the future.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's important for us to consider all
- 6:24Speaker 2: aspects and also to remind ourselves what's behind us. We
- 6:29Speaker 2: can't go back and change any of that. So we
- 6:31Speaker 2: need to focus, look forward, and process in our minds
- 6:37Speaker 2: ways that, and we're going to do this through what?
- 6:40Speaker 2: Reading the book, doing the activities, getting other resources, maybe
- 6:43Speaker 2: attending some of my workshops and different things that I'm
- 6:46Speaker 2: going to be doing. But we're going to get the
- 6:48Speaker 2: insight that we need to make us more comfortable because
- 6:51Speaker 2: it might take a while for a person to be
- 6:53Speaker 2: comfortable shifting. you know, building new habits. It takes time.
- 6:59Speaker 2: But the more we apply ourselves to it, the better
- 7:02Speaker 2: we're going to get. We're not going to be perfect,
- 7:04Speaker 2: you know, but we're getting better each day when we
- 7:07Speaker 2: apply the correct principles. And that leads me to one
- 7:10Speaker 2: of the things that I've done actually in this last month,
- 7:15Speaker 2: and I finished it this weekend, is I wrote a
- 7:18Speaker 2: book of 100 100 Purposeful Prosperity Principles. And I pulled
- 7:26Speaker 2: them all from the book.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Yeah. So you talk about in Chapter 17 with Eleanor
- 7:33Speaker 1: Annette something that is definitely a change in mindset. You
- 7:39Speaker 1: talk about the difference in managing the future and embracing
- 7:45Speaker 1: the future. Talk to us about how Dr. Annette West
- 7:48Speaker 1: has managed to do that.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Oh, for myself? Oh, yeah. I'm excited about my now,
- 7:56Speaker 2: but I am excited about my future. I was just
- 7:59Speaker 2: talking to somebody about years, and they were like, Oh, I'm,
- 8:02Speaker 2: you know, I hit 50 and I'm, you know, I
- 8:05Speaker 2: don't have much time left. I was like, I looked
- 8:07Speaker 2: at 50 like I got another half of my life
- 8:09Speaker 2: and maybe even more. That's the way I look at 50,
- 8:12Speaker 2: you know, like there should be many years ahead of me.
- 8:14Speaker 2: I'm not talking about what's behind me, but I see
- 8:17Speaker 2: many years. And so if I see many years, now
- 8:19Speaker 2: I have to say, what am I willing to put
- 8:22Speaker 2: in place? to help me to have the lifestyle that
- 8:27Speaker 2: I want from now to whenever it is time for
- 8:30Speaker 2: me to leave. I don't want to be 90 and
- 8:32Speaker 2: broke and poor and destitute. I want to be flourishing
- 8:38Speaker 2: for the entire time that I live here. And so
- 8:41Speaker 2: getting the correct principles in place is going to be
- 8:44Speaker 2: paramount for us to move forward.
- 8:51Speaker 1: And I think, again, that is what makes this book
- 8:54Speaker 1: so interesting because, again, as I mentioned, so many people
- 8:58Speaker 1: are in this survival mode. We hear people talk about
- 9:01Speaker 1: living paycheck to paycheck, going from day to day. And then,
- 9:06Speaker 1: of course, when situations come up that are unexpected, then
- 9:09Speaker 1: they can be caught flat-footed. But you said something to
- 9:13Speaker 1: the point of what you just mentioned. I made a
- 9:15Speaker 1: note of it to mention later, but I'll go ahead
- 9:16Speaker 1: and bring it up now because it ties into what
- 9:19Speaker 1: you just said, Annette. For those, again, who have their
- 9:22Speaker 1: copy of the book, you'll find this in Chapter 11,
- 9:26Speaker 1: Creating Multiple Income Streams After 50. And you write this
- 9:29Speaker 1: on page 172. And you were, of course, giving another
- 9:34Speaker 1: example here for individuals. But this is what you said
- 9:39Speaker 1: I thought was so important. Stop believing your most productive
- 9:43Speaker 1: years are behind you. Stop assuming your gifts no longer matter.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Stop viewing age as a limitation. Begin seeing this season
- 9:52Speaker 1: for what it truly is, a season of possibility, a
- 9:56Speaker 1: season of wisdom, a season of creativity, a season of consciousness.
- 10:00Speaker 1: a season of purpose. The years behind you have prepared
- 10:04Speaker 1: you for more than you may realize. Every lesson, every challenge,
- 10:08Speaker 1: every success, and every disappointment contributed something valuable to the
- 10:13Speaker 1: person you are today. I firmly believe that, and you
- 10:16Speaker 1: go on to say, Annette, Nothing has been wasted. But
- 10:19Speaker 1: what has it been like for you to share those
- 10:21Speaker 1: principles with others that everything has kind of led them
- 10:25Speaker 1: to here and the great things that are still to come?
- 10:30Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I love to use my my I
- 10:32Speaker 2: have all of these wonderful examples in the book, but
- 10:35Speaker 2: I'm also an example. of the life where I came from,
- 10:39Speaker 2: what I've had to do through the years to get
- 10:41Speaker 2: to this point, and what I expect to do to get,
- 10:44Speaker 2: you know, for my longevity. So really getting people to
- 10:49Speaker 2: do some self-reflection, getting people to really look at what
- 10:55Speaker 2: they've been doing and asking themselves, has it really been beneficial?
- 10:58Speaker 2: And if it hasn't, what can I do different? and
- 11:02Speaker 2: tapping into people and resources that can help you gain
- 11:06Speaker 2: the tools that you need, because it's not too late
- 11:08Speaker 2: for us to learn more.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Yeah. I also think there's an interesting principle, even in
- 11:14Speaker 1: the subtitle of the book, that now that I've finished it, Annette,
- 11:17Speaker 1: I think it's so powerful. Again, the book is Purposal Prosperity,
- 11:21Speaker 1: A Woman's Guide to Financial Peace and Intentional Living. And
- 11:25Speaker 1: one thing you say in the book that may surprise
- 11:27Speaker 1: people is this. You say, that freedom begins before the
- 11:33Speaker 1: final payment is made. Talk to us about that, because
- 11:37Speaker 1: I think a lot of times people, when they think
- 11:40Speaker 1: of financial freedom, they think of zero balances. So what
- 11:44Speaker 1: has that been like for you to get people to
- 11:46Speaker 1: change their mindset, not only about debt, but also what
- 11:50Speaker 1: financial freedom looks like?
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a great question. I just had a conversation
- 11:55Speaker 2: with one of the ladies the other day who was
- 11:58Speaker 2: talking about working to get out of debt. And first
- 12:02Speaker 2: I asked her what was her plan. And she told
- 12:04Speaker 2: me her plan. And I was like, that plan is
- 12:06Speaker 2: not going to work. That plan is going to have
- 12:09Speaker 2: you frustrated. That plan is going to have you anxious.
- 12:14Speaker 2: And that plan is going to have you paying that
- 12:16Speaker 2: bill off for the next 20 years or 30 years.
- 12:19Speaker 2: So it was about, you know, okay, let's go back
- 12:22Speaker 2: to the drawing board. Let's look at what you have,
- 12:26Speaker 2: what you're trying to do, and let's find the best
- 12:28Speaker 2: way for you to do it where it's cost effective
- 12:30Speaker 2: for you. One of the things that we all have
- 12:34Speaker 2: to do is a cost benefit analysis in all things.
- 12:38Speaker 2: What is the cost and what is the benefit? That's
- 12:41Speaker 2: a determination as to how we spend stuff. So a
- 12:45Speaker 2: simple cost benefit analysis would be for somebody to say
- 12:48Speaker 2: to me, I know I need to put some money
- 12:51Speaker 2: in an IRA and I haven't done it. Is it
- 12:53Speaker 2: too late? No, it's not too late. How can I
- 12:56Speaker 2: do it? I don't have any extra money. So then
- 12:59Speaker 2: I would say, okay, let's do a cost-benefit analysis here.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Let's talk about the things that you do spend money on.
- 13:05Speaker 2: List those things other than your required things. You know,
- 13:09Speaker 2: you got to pay your rent or your mortgage, your utilities. Well,
- 13:12Speaker 2: let's talk about the coffees that you bought out, the food,
- 13:16Speaker 2: you know, the fast food that you bought out, the
- 13:19Speaker 2: extra outfits that you bought. Let's look at those things
- 13:21Speaker 2: and let's look at those dollars and cents. And let's
- 13:25Speaker 2: see how much sense it makes on the sense that
- 13:28Speaker 2: you spent. So I'm talking S-E-N-C, y'all, and then the S-E-N-C.
- 13:33Speaker 2: So how much sense does it make for what you spent,
- 13:36Speaker 2: the sense? So that's how we do the cost-benefit analysis.
- 13:40Speaker 2: So does it benefit me based on what I just spent?
- 13:44Speaker 2: And how is it going to benefit me? And is
- 13:46Speaker 2: it going to benefit me for the short term or
- 13:49Speaker 2: the long run? So, of course, it benefits me for
- 13:51Speaker 2: the short run, even though I spent $ 8 for it.
- 13:54Speaker 2: But if I buy five coffees a month, and most
- 13:57Speaker 2: people would probably buy more than that who work outside
- 14:00Speaker 2: the home if they buy coffees, so I've heard. Just
- 14:05Speaker 2: say it's $ 8, and five times that's $ 40. You could
- 14:08Speaker 2: add another $ 10 to that and start putting $ 50 in
- 14:10Speaker 2: your IRA every month. So it's a simple thing to
- 14:15Speaker 2: get us started, but we have to go back and
- 14:17Speaker 2: look at what are we spending, what is it costing us,
- 14:21Speaker 2: and is it beneficial to our long-term process?
- 14:25Speaker 1: Yeah. You say something else in the book, Annette, that
- 14:28Speaker 1: I've never seen it worded like this before, and I
- 14:31Speaker 1: read a lot of books. But we... We all have
- 14:36Speaker 1: heard the saying about our past does not define us,
- 14:41Speaker 1: a bad relationship does not define us. You say in
- 14:44Speaker 1: the book that debt does not define us. And that
- 14:48Speaker 1: in itself, I think, gives us some type of peace
- 14:52Speaker 1: because a lot of times people do feel defined by
- 14:56Speaker 1: what they see as failure because that's how they equate debt, right,
- 15:00Speaker 1: that they have failed. They failed in being responsible. They
- 15:03Speaker 1: failed in preparing. Talk to us about what that's been
- 15:07Speaker 1: like for you to embrace for yourself that you're not
- 15:11Speaker 1: defined by things like debt and things that may seem
- 15:15Speaker 1: like hindrances, but also the fact that you can't be
- 15:18Speaker 1: able to address those things.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yeah. So thank God I've been real mindful about the
- 15:25Speaker 2: debt issue. So that's not been a critical concern for me,
- 15:29Speaker 2: but It's something that I've always been watchful of. So
- 15:33Speaker 2: I've had to be conscious because at one point I
- 15:37Speaker 2: used to spend a lot because I had a lot.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And I do that cost benefit analysis that I talk about.
- 15:43Speaker 2: What can I do with those resources? And so for
- 15:46Speaker 2: a person who feels like they have a lot of debt,
- 15:49Speaker 2: the first thing is you can't beat yourself up about
- 15:52Speaker 2: that because that's not going to solve anything. You can't
- 15:55Speaker 2: make yourself feel worse if you're trying to get better.
- 15:59Speaker 2: And you cannot self-inflict pain. You can, but why would
- 16:03Speaker 2: you want to self-inflict pain? So I come from that perspective.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And I also come from the perspective of God doesn't
- 16:10Speaker 2: want us to sit and wallow in those things. And
- 16:13Speaker 2: we have to remember that the guy that we serve
- 16:16Speaker 2: has already created greatness for us. He's already created a
- 16:20Speaker 2: journey for us. We may just have taken some detours.
- 16:24Speaker 2: So how do we process to get to where we're
- 16:27Speaker 2: supposed to be so that we can develop the prosperity
- 16:30Speaker 2: that we are entitled to? So that's what I'm really...
- 16:34Speaker 2: pushing and pressing myself as well as other people into
- 16:38Speaker 2: what more can I do and what more can I
- 16:41Speaker 2: stop doing so that I can do.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Such a great point. And I think, again, that's why
- 16:47Speaker 1: conversations like this are so important, Annette. I want to
- 16:50Speaker 1: say for those who are just tuning in, welcome. You're
- 16:52Speaker 1: listening to Conversations Live. We're excited to welcome back Dr.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Annette West. She's back with us because now that the
- 16:58Speaker 1: book has been out, I definitely not had a chance
- 17:00Speaker 1: to read it. I wanted to have her back to
- 17:01Speaker 1: kind of talk about What's been like for you to
- 17:03Speaker 1: see the response to the book that we're discussing here
- 17:06Speaker 1: is Purposeful Prosperity, A Woman's Guide to Financial Peace and
- 17:10Speaker 1: Intentional Living. It's available now through our friends at Amazon.com.
- 17:13Speaker 1: But as we hear in those commercials sometimes, Dr. Annette, wait,
- 17:18Speaker 1: there's more. She's releasing another book. in November. So as
- 17:23Speaker 1: she's been promoting purposeful prosperity, I was on social media
- 17:26Speaker 1: and I saw, wait a minute, she has another book
- 17:28Speaker 1: coming out in November. So talk to us about the
- 17:30Speaker 1: new book project and then how it came about.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Don't ask me how both of these books came out
- 17:38Speaker 2: so close, but the second book is actually a collaboration
- 17:43Speaker 2: that I've done where I invited, and I think we
- 17:46Speaker 2: started back in May on this project and, with a
- 17:50Speaker 2: six-month goal of completion. And we're right on target for that.
- 17:55Speaker 2: But this book is called Women Who Carry the Word,
- 17:59Speaker 2: Faithful Voices for Such a Time as This. And it
- 18:03Speaker 2: is a book of stories as well, but it is
- 18:06Speaker 2: from women who... are in leadership. They may be teachers.
- 18:10Speaker 2: They may be pastors. They may be, you know, they
- 18:13Speaker 2: may be ministers. They may be a business professional, but
- 18:17Speaker 2: they're talking about how they carry the word, how they,
- 18:21Speaker 2: how they may have been turned in even before they
- 18:23Speaker 2: understood that they had it, how they may not have
- 18:26Speaker 2: handled it the way that they should have handled it,
- 18:28Speaker 2: how they had to overlook maybe what other people were
- 18:31Speaker 2: saying so that they could keep their focus and move forward.
- 18:34Speaker 2: So I believe that this is another timely book that
- 18:38Speaker 2: is going to be aligned with the Purposeful Prosperity 365
- 18:43Speaker 2: because it's all about women empowering women building, sustaining, and
- 18:49Speaker 2: then sharing with other women so that they can be empowered, sustained,
- 18:54Speaker 2: and do what? Reciprocate that as they go down to
- 18:58Speaker 2: someone else. So it's all about gaining it and pressing
- 19:01Speaker 2: it and pushing it to someone else.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Amazing. Amazing. And I think, again, this is what is
- 19:08Speaker 1: so powerful, you know, to be able to, as you mentioned,
- 19:11Speaker 1: you've been able to do other books, you know, before this.
- 19:15Speaker 1: But the fact that you're able to bring other people
- 19:17Speaker 1: in and allow them to be able to share their
- 19:19Speaker 1: story and their lessons as well, I think is such
- 19:21Speaker 1: an amazing thing. I think, Annette, the other thing that's
- 19:25Speaker 1: so powerful about this is how you're giving people permission
- 19:28Speaker 1: to share their stories. As you mentioned, even in Purposeful Prosperity,
- 19:32Speaker 1: you've been able to change things, of course, for people.
- 19:35Speaker 1: But what does it feel like for you to see
- 19:37Speaker 1: how people have benefited from the opportunities you've provided and
- 19:41Speaker 1: them being able to share their stories? And to reach
- 19:43Speaker 1: a new audience, not only, of course, with their stories,
- 19:46Speaker 1: but also with the blessings and the journeys they've been on.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Yeah. So some people know me as Dr. Annette, the
- 19:54Speaker 2: publishing pusher, because I have a publishing business as well
- 19:59Speaker 2: as a publishing pusher podcast. And one of the things
- 20:03Speaker 2: that I really try to do, and not just with
- 20:06Speaker 2: the publishing, but with in general with people is is
- 20:10Speaker 2: to see the value in people, ask God to show
- 20:13Speaker 2: me what he wants me to see, and then encourage
- 20:17Speaker 2: them to step out of their shells many times, to
- 20:21Speaker 2: think about something, to write about something that they would
- 20:24Speaker 2: have never thought about. And so the women that are
- 20:27Speaker 2: in this particular book, Women Who Carry the Word, these
- 20:31Speaker 2: are women that I prayed about who would be in
- 20:34Speaker 2: this book. And then I Put the list down and
- 20:38Speaker 2: I went to each person and I said, if it
- 20:41Speaker 2: doesn't fit, I understand. And everybody that I asked said yes.
- 20:47Speaker 2: So all of these women who carry the word, they
- 20:50Speaker 2: are yes women. They say yes to the call and
- 20:53Speaker 2: they say yes to the assignment and the accomplishment. They
- 20:57Speaker 2: accomplished it. And that's what it's about. Seeing the value
- 21:00Speaker 2: in people, pressing people to be greater. Yeah.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I think that is a big thing for sure. Have
- 21:08Speaker 1: you had a chance, as you kind of think about,
- 21:11Speaker 1: as you mentioned, being the publishing pusher, have you had
- 21:15Speaker 1: a chance to really think about the impact you're making,
- 21:18Speaker 1: not only with these authors, but also with the readers
- 21:21Speaker 1: that will pick these books up?
- 21:24Speaker 2: That's what we've been praying about, yes. We're always praying
- 21:28Speaker 2: for the readers. We want to make sure that the readers...
- 21:32Speaker 2: I don't want you to just buy the book. I
- 21:34Speaker 2: want you to read the book. I want you to
- 21:37Speaker 2: dig into the book. I want you to gain the
- 21:39Speaker 2: principles in the book. I want you to see how
- 21:42Speaker 2: you can apply it to your own life and also
- 21:44Speaker 2: how you see principles that you can assist somebody else,
- 21:47Speaker 2: guide somebody else. through their journey as well. So I
- 21:51Speaker 2: believe like Jesus, we want to get the word out.
- 21:57Speaker 2: We want to get it out in stories, parables, songs, poems,
- 22:01Speaker 2: whatever way we need to, to get it to reach
- 22:05Speaker 2: its targeted audience.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Yeah. And I should mention before we let you go here, Annette,
- 22:12Speaker 1: that the other great thing about Purposeful Prosperity is that
- 22:15Speaker 1: there is a great resource in the back of the book.
- 22:19Speaker 1: And I'm bringing this up because of what you had
- 22:21Speaker 1: mentioned about an IRA. For people who may be wondering, okay,
- 22:25Speaker 1: what that is, what she actually shares with that is
- 22:27Speaker 1: share that in the back of the book. Different things
- 22:30Speaker 1: you need to know that are mentioned in the book.
- 22:32Speaker 1: You're able to be able to find those, what she
- 22:34Speaker 1: has called a financial terms glossary in there as well.
- 22:37Speaker 1: So again, the book is something that's practical. There's great
- 22:40Speaker 1: information here, but also it's an opportunity for you to
- 22:43Speaker 1: be able to look at your own income source, look
- 22:45Speaker 1: at your expenses, your goals, and to be able to
- 22:48Speaker 1: really hold yourself accountable. Isn't that also the big point here, Annette?
- 22:53Speaker 1: We can all read books and say, wow, that was
- 22:57Speaker 1: a great book. But if we don't do anything, we
- 23:00Speaker 1: don't make any changes. It's only going to be a
- 23:05Speaker 1: good book. Is that what you hope people do is
- 23:08Speaker 1: actually yes, take the book in, but also make it
- 23:12Speaker 1: their own, look at themselves and think of, okay, where
- 23:14Speaker 1: am I in this and how can I move forward?
- 23:17Speaker 2: Definitely. That's why there are applications throughout the chapters. Well,
- 23:24Speaker 2: at the end of every chapter, there's some questions to answer.
- 23:27Speaker 2: There's some reflection things because we need to, in each
- 23:32Speaker 2: of these chapters, there's something that we need to look
- 23:34Speaker 2: at for ourselves and we need to process This is
- 23:36Speaker 2: the thing. If it just fits in our mind, it's
- 23:40Speaker 2: all haphazard. So we've got to get it out. So
- 23:43Speaker 2: I would say when you get a resource that gives
- 23:45Speaker 2: you the ability to fill in areas, take the time
- 23:49Speaker 2: to do it because it's going to benefit you. And
- 23:52Speaker 2: also join the 365 movement. We have Purposeful Prosperity 365
- 23:57Speaker 2: YouTube channel. Join the YouTube channel. There are some great
- 24:02Speaker 2: things already planned for this. And I also love cooking.
- 24:09Speaker 2: I love cooking. I used to do cooking videos during
- 24:12Speaker 2: COVID and stuff, but I got away from that. But
- 24:16Speaker 2: when we talk about purposeful prosperity, a woman's guide to
- 24:20Speaker 2: financial peace and intentional living. Remember, we're not just talking
- 24:24Speaker 2: dollars and cents. We're talking about lifestyle, life application, every
- 24:29Speaker 2: aspect of our lives. And so also what? Our health
- 24:32Speaker 2: is our wealth. And so when we take care of
- 24:34Speaker 2: ourselves the right way, it should help us to be
- 24:39Speaker 2: built in such a way that we are strong to
- 24:41Speaker 2: move forward. So I actually am going to have Saturday recipe.
- 24:47Speaker 2: So I will have a new, I will have a new,
- 24:51Speaker 2: the full recipe won't be there, but the picture will
- 24:53Speaker 2: be there with all the ingredients, you know, that are
- 24:57Speaker 2: in it, as well as a description of, for whoever
- 25:02Speaker 2: wants to see it. So on the YouTube channel, Purposeful
- 25:06Speaker 2: Prosperity 365, on Saturdays, there will be a new picture
- 25:11Speaker 2: of something that I actually did cook. And these are
- 25:15Speaker 2: pictures from my kitchen that will be shared. And so
- 25:21Speaker 2: it's also going to be a part of a cookbook,
- 25:24Speaker 2: some cookbooks that I have been working on. So one
- 25:26Speaker 2: of them is going to have to come soon. But
- 25:29Speaker 2: these probably won't even be in the cookbook. These will
- 25:31Speaker 2: be other than. So if you're looking to find some nice, healthy,
- 25:37Speaker 2: overall healthy meals and without a whole lot of ingredients,
- 25:44Speaker 2: then you definitely want to tune in on Saturdays to
- 25:49Speaker 2: check out that post. And we're soon going to be
- 25:51Speaker 2: doing a Saturday morning session Some are going to be
- 25:54Speaker 2: like 15, 20 minutes where I'm going to do a
- 25:56Speaker 2: master class on some Saturdays. I'm going to bring some
- 26:00Speaker 2: experts in or even just some people in who are
- 26:03Speaker 2: talking about something that aligns with our purposeful prosperity and
- 26:08Speaker 2: getting the voices of other people because I'm not the
- 26:11Speaker 2: kind of person that it's got to be about me.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:15Speaker 2: I think we can work together to create what we
- 26:18Speaker 2: need to put out.
- 26:21Speaker 1: So true. I totally agree. Again, everyone, Dr. Annette West
- 26:24Speaker 1: has been our guest. Make sure you guys get her
- 26:27Speaker 1: latest book, Purposeful Prosperity, A Woman's Guide to Financial Peace
- 26:32Speaker 1: and Intentional Living, as you heard her say. The book
- 26:35Speaker 1: that is coming is Women Who Carry the Word. That's
- 26:37Speaker 1: going to be coming out later on this month as well. Annette,
- 26:41Speaker 1: congratulations to you again. Congratulations to the contributors of Women
- 26:45Speaker 1: Who Carry the Word. And looking forward to our next
