- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Almost Famous Podcast with iHeartRadio. Hi, everybody.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome back to the most dramatic dance floor ever. It's
- 0:09Speaker 1: your hosts, Trista and Deanna. And this week was dedication
- 0:14Speaker 1: week on Dancing with the Stars. And holy tearjerker, right?
- 0:19Speaker 1: I was like crying through the.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Okay, so I have to say I'm like hooked on
- 0:22Speaker 2: Dancing with the Stars now.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Like maybe it just took me a few episodes, but
- 0:26Speaker 3: this week I was like, oh yeah, like I get it.
- 0:31Speaker 3: I get it. It was like this week's episode was
- 0:35Speaker 3: so beautiful.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Just all of like the.
- 0:39Speaker 2: just the memories and the dedications and seeing everybody close to,
- 0:42Speaker 2: and obviously it's everything that I want to see. Our producer,
- 0:44Speaker 2: Heather predicted Julia Stiles. I loved seeing, yeah, I just like,
- 0:48Speaker 2: I loved it, Trista.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I loved it. I thought about crying.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I didn't because I think I'm cold and dead inside,
- 0:53Speaker 2: but like I thought about it.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Oh, I was crying. I even, I posted on my
- 1:00Speaker 1: Instagram story and Blakeslee was at dance and she came
- 1:03Speaker 1: home and she was like, Mom, like, what is wrong? Like,
- 1:07Speaker 1: you just posted you were crying over Dancing with the Stars.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, because it was really sweet and sentimental
- 1:16Speaker 1: and sad and just so powerful.
- 1:21Speaker 3: It was really special.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I love Dedication Week. And I feel like we both
- 1:26Speaker 1: like it because we're sentimental people, but I... Just every
- 1:32Speaker 1: single dance. So... Well, we're going to get into it
- 1:35Speaker 1: for sure. We had so many things going on. I mean,
- 1:40Speaker 1: our first tens, we had.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Lots of surprises, Trista.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Lots of surprises. There is a baby coming. We're having
- 1:48Speaker 1: a baby. The fact that they did a gender reveal
- 1:53Speaker 1: on Dancing with the Stars.
- 1:55Speaker 3: We're having a baby.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I can't. It was so epic. So freaking epic. Okay,
- 2:03Speaker 1: we're going to get into it because I know we
- 2:05Speaker 1: have a lot to cover. And I want to say
- 2:08Speaker 1: Kim Johnson was the guest judge.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Okay, so should I have known Kim Johnson?
- 2:15Speaker 1: You have never watched the show before, so you shouldn't have.
- 2:18Speaker 1: She has been on, she's a champion twice over. And
- 2:23Speaker 1: she is just a beautiful human being. And I thought
- 2:26Speaker 1: she was a perfect choice to... for dedication night because
- 2:29Speaker 1: she's a mom. She's like, she just has a kind
- 2:33Speaker 1: heart and she knows what she's doing. So I loved
- 2:38Speaker 1: that they brought Kim back into the ballroom. She actually
- 2:41Speaker 1: married her partner, Robert Herjavec. He is one of the,
- 2:47Speaker 1: on Shark Tank. They were partnered together and they are
- 2:52Speaker 1: since married and have had, I think they have twins now.
- 2:55Speaker 2: She was the pro, he was the celebrity, and they
- 2:59Speaker 2: ended up married?
- 3:00Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure they were partnered together, if I think
- 3:04Speaker 1: back to watching. And I know he posted, he popped up, yeah,
- 3:09Speaker 1: they were partners together, and they got married because their
- 3:12Speaker 1: chemistry was just palpable, and they fell in love.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I love when love works out that way, like it's
- 3:20Speaker 2: just meant to be, you know what I mean? Like
- 3:22Speaker 2: sometimes I feel like we get off, off track with
- 3:24Speaker 2: our path, but sometimes it's just meant to be.
- 3:27Speaker 3: And like, they just needed to meet on Dancing with
- 3:29Speaker 3: the Stars. You know what I mean? And that's their story.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Okay. So last week we talked about how, like, I
- 3:36Speaker 1: conjectured that Ezra was going to be first because he
- 3:40Speaker 1: was last the past two episodes before, which I thought,
- 3:45Speaker 1: this is really strange. I had talked to Danielle Fischel's
- 3:49Speaker 1: husband about it. we both were like, this is weird.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Why are they putting him at the bottom or at
- 3:56Speaker 1: the last spot two nights in a row? I don't
- 4:01Speaker 1: feel like that's normal. And I was like, I think
- 4:04Speaker 1: he's going to get the first 10. He got the
- 4:07Speaker 1: first 10. It was so exciting. I was so happy
- 4:12Speaker 1: for them. That dance just like Out the gate, I
- 4:17Speaker 1: was crying. And you know this. I love him. I
- 4:20Speaker 1: love his family. We got to meet his mom and
- 4:22Speaker 1: his dad. His mom is so sweet.
- 4:24Speaker 2: And then to hear him share about how she pretty
- 4:28Speaker 2: much did everything. Those old videos, when they go back
- 4:31Speaker 2: to her telling him to walk when she gets there.
- 4:34Speaker 3: I was just like, oh my God, it's the sweetest.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And as a mom, right? You know what I mean?
- 4:38Speaker 2: That pulled on all of my heartstrings. And then to
- 4:41Speaker 2: see her show up for him and just like.
- 4:43Speaker 1: The pure joy.
- 4:44Speaker 2: We know this as mothers. The pure joy and excitement
- 4:47Speaker 2: and just pride.
- 4:48Speaker 1: You know what I mean? She was beaming.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I loved that.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I loved that. You could feel how special it was
- 4:56Speaker 1: for her to be in the ballroom. I'm looking at
- 4:58Speaker 1: my notes from last night because I had to take
- 5:01Speaker 1: notes on my notes app because I was like, I'm
- 5:03Speaker 1: not going to remember everything. I need to take notes.
- 5:06Speaker 1: But you can tell. So I was scrolling this morning.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And do you know the podcaster Jay Shetty?
- 5:13Speaker 4: Yes.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I love his podcast.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Yes.
- 5:16Speaker 1: He had Ezra on and he shared this letter that
- 5:22Speaker 1: Bahar had written to, Bahar and her husband had written
- 5:25Speaker 1: to the parents of his elementary school when he was
- 5:27Speaker 1: starting kindergarten. I have cold chills, Trista.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I literally like, I'm like already, I'm like dying.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I love it.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I know. And just the support for him and they're like,
- 5:40Speaker 1: Everyone has challenges, like whether they're physical or emotional or
- 5:45Speaker 1: intellectual or, you know, everyone has challenges. His are physical.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And we're not letting that stop him. We don't want
- 5:54Speaker 1: the baseline to be moved for him. You know, he...
- 5:59Speaker 1: Just the support. And I was literally thinking, was I
- 6:02Speaker 1: a good enough mother? You know what I mean? Like
- 6:05Speaker 1: she seems to be just, they seem to be incredible parents.
- 6:10Speaker 1: What did she say?
- 6:10Speaker 2: You walk into every room with your hand held high.
- 6:13Speaker 2: It doesn't matter about your foot or your hand or anything.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Like you don't let any of that. You walk into
- 6:17Speaker 2: a room with your head held high. I was like,
- 6:19Speaker 2: good job, mom. Good job. I say it to Addison.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I'm like, we choose flame keepers, not flame blowers. You
- 6:26Speaker 2: know what I mean? Like I feel like I'm just
- 6:27Speaker 2: trying to like Make good humans here. And like his mom,
- 6:31Speaker 2: his mom did a great job. Like when he was crying,
- 6:34Speaker 2: talking about his mom, I was like, oh yeah, you
- 6:36Speaker 2: did it. I hope she like puts her head down
- 6:38Speaker 2: every night and is like, I did it.
- 6:39Speaker 3: I did it. He's a good person.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Totally agree. And to be able to dedicate the dance
- 6:44Speaker 1: and have her be part of it. That's why I
- 6:46Speaker 1: love this night so much is just how special it
- 6:50Speaker 1: is to be able to dedicate the dance. on Dancing
- 6:52Speaker 1: with the Stars, share the stage with you, welcome you
- 6:56Speaker 1: on into the ballroom, like onto the ballroom stage and
- 7:00Speaker 1: be able to express that love and appreciation in front
- 7:04Speaker 1: of the world is so meaningful and they freaking crushed it.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Dani's choreography was amazing. Like when she climbed up, I
- 7:14Speaker 1: was like, people are gonna be doing that. I was
- 7:17Speaker 1: just like blown away with the choreo. Oh, this is
- 7:20Speaker 1: what I wanted to say. You cannot tell. If you're
- 7:24Speaker 1: not specifically looking at his prosthetic, you cannot tell that
- 7:27Speaker 1: he has a prosthetic. No.
- 7:29Speaker 2: He moves very elegantly on the dance floor. I almost
- 7:33Speaker 2: forget that he... Oh, God, I don't want to sound
- 7:36Speaker 2: like an idiot with what I'm going to say, but
- 7:38Speaker 2: I almost forget that he has a prosthetic.
- 7:41Speaker 3: The way he moves on a dance floor.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I don't think you sound like an idiot
- 7:47Speaker 1: at all. I think he is proving... that your physical
- 7:51Speaker 1: challenge really don't mean squat. Like get up, get moving,
- 7:55Speaker 1: like show the world that you can do it because
- 7:57Speaker 1: you can. He's proving that. I just, I am blown
- 8:01Speaker 1: away by his abilities, especially because of his physical challenges.
- 8:07Speaker 1: You know, he is my favorite. I'm gonna say it again.
- 8:11Speaker 1: He's my choice for winner. There is no doubt in
- 8:14Speaker 1: my mind that he will be in the final. I
- 8:16Speaker 1: have a very strong opinion that he will win, and
- 8:19Speaker 1: I think that he deserves to win because he is
- 8:22Speaker 1: throwing all of these, like, you know, judgments aside, I'm
- 8:26Speaker 1: blown away by them and their partnership.
- 8:29Speaker 2: When I watch the show now with friends of mine,
- 8:31Speaker 2: they act like I'm this expert now because we're doing
- 8:33Speaker 2: this podcast. Like, so what do you think? And I'm like,
- 8:35Speaker 2: I know absolutely nothing, but Trista believes he is picked
- 8:38Speaker 2: to win. So he's going to win.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Like she's the expert. I'm just here for keeps, you
- 8:43Speaker 3: know what I mean?
- 8:43Speaker 2: But like, it's fun to watch it with other people
- 8:46Speaker 2: because now I feel like because of you and our producer, Heather,
- 8:48Speaker 2: I have so much like insight now on the show
- 8:51Speaker 2: and And I saw it last night, Trista.
- 8:53Speaker 3: When he danced, I was like, aw. Yeah, you guys
- 8:56Speaker 3: might be right. He might be in it for the win.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Oh, gosh. I hope so. I think he deserves it.
- 9:02Speaker 1: And I just love their love for each other, the partners,
- 9:07Speaker 1: Danny and him.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Their chemistry, it's really, every bit of it is beautiful.
- 9:10Speaker 2: They got a 37 out of 40 last night.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I mean, that's really great.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Yes, it is.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Like, I was like, oh my gosh, I have been
- 9:21Speaker 2: waiting for 10s and perfect scores.
- 9:23Speaker 1: And all of this thing.
- 9:24Speaker 2: It just kind of like makes the excitement there with
- 9:27Speaker 2: the show.
- 9:28Speaker 1: For sure. I do think that he should have gotten
- 9:30Speaker 1: more than 110, but that's okay. I think that the
- 9:33Speaker 1: the everyday judges, not Kim Johnson, were like holding back
- 9:37Speaker 1: so that they could give their 10s, you know, maybe
- 9:40Speaker 1: if someone did better. I don't know who could have
- 9:43Speaker 1: done better, but I felt like he deserved, he definitely
- 9:47Speaker 1: deserved the 110. I thought he deserved more, but that's okay.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I think he's fine. I don't think that that matters
- 9:52Speaker 1: for next week.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I am, hopeful.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Love, love, love, love, love, love.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Yes.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Love, love, love.
- 9:59Speaker 1: So much love. So much love. Okay, so Tatiana was
- 10:02Speaker 1: next with Jan, and this week she dedicated the dance
- 10:06Speaker 1: to James Avery, who was the dad on Fresh Prince.
- 10:09Speaker 1: He acted like a father figure to her and to Alfonso,
- 10:13Speaker 1: who she brought into the dance, which I thought was
- 10:15Speaker 1: so special.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Trista, I literally almost shed a tear. This one, like,
- 10:20Speaker 2: really pulled.
- 10:21Speaker 3: At my heartstrings.
- 10:23Speaker 2: I guess because, you know, it's my era. I grew
- 10:25Speaker 2: up watching Fresh Prince of the Bel-Air, and they looked
- 10:29Speaker 2: like a family.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I love that you just called it Fresh Prince of
- 10:32Speaker 1: the Bel-Air.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Such an old lady.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Such an old lady.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, people. Get on board. I grew
- 10:43Speaker 2: up watching this show, and they always looked like a
- 10:46Speaker 2: close-knit group of people. You know, some people, you just
- 10:49Speaker 2: get it on set. They don't mesh well, whatever. And,
- 10:51Speaker 2: you know, it's interesting to see some, you know, succeed
- 10:54Speaker 2: more than others.
- 10:56Speaker 4: But.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I thought this.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Moment was so special and the fact that she brought
- 11:01Speaker 2: him in to dance with her.
- 11:02Speaker 1: And she sang the song. That was her recording the song.
- 11:05Speaker 3: And she was incredible.
- 11:06Speaker 2: So I was paying attention to all the different aspects.
- 11:08Speaker 2: And I thought that was really special.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I agree. And I thought she did a great job.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I actually wrote, Tatiana is growing on me. Me too.
- 11:17Speaker 1: She's so well-spoken. She's so kind-hearted, it seems, and so
- 11:22Speaker 1: like funny. She has a great sense of humor.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Her energy is so chill, Trista.
- 11:28Speaker 2: I'm not so sure I would be that chill, but
- 11:30Speaker 2: like every time they see her, they show her like.
- 11:32Speaker 3: In her back, her back package, backstage package.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Is that what we call it? Right, yeah.
- 11:38Speaker 2: And even on the dance floor, her energy is so chill.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Like I want to grow up and be just like her.
- 11:44Speaker 1: She's, I love her. She's definitely, she definitely grew on
- 11:47Speaker 1: me last night. And, you know, I don't know how
- 11:51Speaker 1: much longer Trista She'll be around, but I do enjoy,
- 11:54Speaker 1: I am enjoying watching her more and more.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Me too.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Well, she did great last night.
- 11:59Speaker 2: She got all eights. I mean, she got a 32
- 12:01Speaker 2: out of 40. Like I thought that was, I thought
- 12:03Speaker 2: that was very fitting. I thought it was well-deserved. I
- 12:05Speaker 2: thought it was a great score for her. I enjoyed
- 12:08Speaker 2: every bit of it.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Totally agree. Totally agree. It was their best score of
- 12:11Speaker 1: the season. And I thought it was very well-deserved. So yes,
- 12:16Speaker 1: I love Tatiana and I love that she brought it
- 12:18Speaker 1: in Alfonso. Okay, Mara was next, and she has been
- 12:23Speaker 1: one of my front runners. I thought it was really
- 12:27Speaker 1: interesting that she dedicated her dance to Ireland, to an
- 12:32Speaker 1: entire country, which, you know, I think that's, like, that
- 12:38Speaker 1: is really an incredible thing to be able to dedicate
- 12:41Speaker 1: it to, like, you know, a country full of people
- 12:45Speaker 1: who are watching you and supporting you. I just felt
- 12:48Speaker 1: like maybe the dedication to the personal people who were
- 12:53Speaker 1: able to be in the routines with the celebs and
- 12:57Speaker 1: the pros were just, they came across as a bit
- 13:01Speaker 1: more special to me, a bit more sentimental. Not that her,
- 13:05Speaker 1: not that the thought of her dedicating this dance to
- 13:09Speaker 1: her entire country of origin was not special, but I just,
- 13:13Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Like I just, it wasn't
- 13:16Speaker 1: necessarily as personalized as.
- 13:19Speaker 2: I think that the others who have gone before her
- 13:21Speaker 2: so far in the show, it really touched our heartstrings.
- 13:24Speaker 3: I actually really love.
- 13:26Speaker 2: That she dedicated it to Ireland because she is so Irish.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yeah, totally.
- 13:31Speaker 3: So much a part of her.
- 13:33Speaker 2: I actually feel like, Trista, I would have been more
- 13:36Speaker 2: confused if she dedicated it to someone or something else
- 13:40Speaker 2: because I don't know that as a viewer, I know
- 13:42Speaker 2: a lot about her personally, but I actually kind of
- 13:45Speaker 2: really love that she dedicated it to her people.
- 13:49Speaker 1: She's very Irish. I think that's super cool. Yeah, no,
- 13:53Speaker 1: I do. I thought it was really cool. I just
- 13:56Speaker 1: felt like compared to the others that It just didn't
- 14:01Speaker 1: land as special as some. I will say also that,
- 14:07Speaker 1: you know me, I have been a fan of Maura
- 14:10Speaker 1: since the beginning. I have felt like she is just
- 14:13Speaker 1: showing off, you know, like not showing off in a
- 14:15Speaker 1: like egotistical way, but she is really stepping up to
- 14:19Speaker 1: the plate and showing all of us that even without
- 14:22Speaker 1: any dance background, she is a beautiful dancer. I don't
- 14:25Speaker 1: know that the tango was my favorite dance for her. No, sorry.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I don't know that the Paso Doble was my favorite
- 14:31Speaker 1: dance for her. I felt like her footwork was just
- 14:34Speaker 1: a little, not sloppy is not the word, just not on,
- 14:39Speaker 1: it wasn't clean. So maybe it was sloppy. I don't know,
- 14:42Speaker 1: the opposite of clean. And it was really interesting to
- 14:46Speaker 1: me that none of the judges said anything about her technique.
- 14:50Speaker 1: You know, like- I don't know. I was like, wait,
- 14:54Speaker 1: what's happening? Because usually Derek would... Carrie Ann did point
- 14:58Speaker 1: out a lift. And she does attack all of their
- 15:03Speaker 1: notes that they give her every week. I feel like
- 15:07Speaker 1: she's super passionate. At the beginning, I loved how they
- 15:11Speaker 1: started with Mark behind her and kind of like peeking around.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I thought that was really powerful. But technically... I just
- 15:19Speaker 1: felt like it wasn't her best dance compared to the
- 15:23Speaker 1: other dances in frame where she is perfection. And we
- 15:26Speaker 1: know she does that so well.
- 15:28Speaker 2: We have talked about until we're blue in the face
- 15:30Speaker 2: how beautiful her arms and her hands and the placement
- 15:33Speaker 2: of each.
- 15:34Speaker 3: We've talked about that.
- 15:35Speaker 2: It was nice to see her do something else because
- 15:38Speaker 2: we have seen her do that from week to week,
- 15:41Speaker 2: different dances and look so perfect with her hand placement
- 15:44Speaker 2: and everything else. You know, it's interesting that you say
- 15:47Speaker 2: all of that, Trista, because I'm with you, but the
- 15:49Speaker 2: scores don't necessarily reflect that.
- 15:51Speaker 1: She got very high scores. She got all nines.
- 15:55Speaker 2: I know, she got nines and won eight from Carrie Ann.
- 15:59Speaker 2: She got a 35 out of 40.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I was shocked that she did better than Tatiana, to
- 16:05Speaker 1: be quite honest. I felt like it didn't, the nines didn't,
- 16:11Speaker 1: really land for me in this episode. I felt like
- 16:15Speaker 1: she's deserved her scores up to this point and maybe
- 16:19Speaker 1: even deserved higher scores in the past. But... I don't know.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I was like, oh gosh. And then after watching the
- 16:27Speaker 1: rest of the show, I was like, oh, I really
- 16:30Speaker 1: hope she's in the finals because I do think that
- 16:33Speaker 1: she is showing all of us that what it looks
- 16:37Speaker 1: like to be a non-dancer transformed into a dancer. So
- 16:41Speaker 1: I think she deserves it. But I just felt like
- 16:44Speaker 1: the nines to me, I don't know, just they weren't
- 16:48Speaker 1: as deserved this time. I still love Mara, but yeah,
- 16:52Speaker 1: that was just, that was my take. Okay. Jackson and
- 16:59Speaker 1: Emma are up next. And last week it was considered
- 17:03Speaker 1: a breakthrough for them. And he dedicated this dance to
- 17:07Speaker 1: his mom. I thought it was really sweet that she
- 17:10Speaker 1: was on the stage too. The same kind of thing.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Like I feel like this was like a Mother's Day episode.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I mean, for moms.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Everywhere, I'm sure we're all like, oh my God, like
- 17:19Speaker 2: I hope my child, you know what I mean? Like
- 17:21Speaker 2: for moms everywhere, because it is one of the best
- 17:25Speaker 2: yet most selfless jobs that you will ever have. So
- 17:29Speaker 2: for moms everywhere watching, were we all on the same
- 17:32Speaker 2: page with these?
- 17:33Speaker 3: You know what I mean? It was the sweetest. It
- 17:35Speaker 3: was absolutely the sweetest.
- 17:37Speaker 1: So sweet. And I did notice, you know, in the beginning... Julian,
- 17:42Speaker 1: or maybe it was Alfonso, said that, you know, they
- 17:45Speaker 1: will be judged, you know, the judges will be judging them,
- 17:48Speaker 1: but they will not be judging the people who are
- 17:51Speaker 1: guests on the ballroom floor. Could you imagine?
- 17:55Speaker 2: No. Give our people a break.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I'm sure people would have been like, yeah, no, this
- 18:01Speaker 1: is really special, but I am not getting on that
- 18:03Speaker 1: dance floor.
- 18:03Speaker 2: But I also thought for the people that showed up
- 18:06Speaker 2: with our celebrities, they did a great job. None of
- 18:09Speaker 2: these people are trained dancers except for Jenna and Harry, right?
- 18:15Speaker 1: What's his name? Shum. Yeah. To have their family, their moms, whomever.
- 18:21Speaker 2: It is, show up and be able to do a
- 18:25Speaker 2: little bit of dance, I all did such a great job,
- 18:28Speaker 2: but that goes to credit the pros.
- 18:31Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 18:32Speaker 2: Not only are the pros doing this with our celebrities
- 18:35Speaker 2: and teaching them to dance and become what looks like
- 18:38Speaker 2: a professional dancer, but now they're taking their family members
- 18:41Speaker 2: or their friends who are coming in for what, like
- 18:44Speaker 2: one week to practice?
- 18:46Speaker 1: And I thought they all did such a great job.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Like that's, to me, that's really cool when you watch
- 18:51Speaker 2: this show.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I totally agree. And it's funny that you say that
- 18:56Speaker 1: because knowing the timeline of things to happen like in
- 19:03Speaker 1: my season and things have changed a lot since season one,
- 19:07Speaker 1: but you know, you start practicing the dances for the week,
- 19:13Speaker 1: the next week, not right when you finish, you're already practicing.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I have a feeling that they probably had already called
- 19:21Speaker 1: the people that they were dedicating their dances to. Like
- 19:25Speaker 1: Guillermo probably had already made that phone call and started,
- 19:29Speaker 1: they started already choreographing the numbers, you know? So I
- 19:34Speaker 1: feel like they probably gave them a little bit, you know,
- 19:38Speaker 1: extra time in terms of it doesn't happen like the
- 19:42Speaker 1: second that you finish the episode on Tuesday night. I
- 19:45Speaker 1: think they probably have just a little, who knows if
- 19:48Speaker 1: it's a day or what, but I think they probably did.
- 19:50Speaker 1: had already made those phone calls.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Well, we're going to give them props where it is
- 19:53Speaker 2: due because, you know, could I do that?
- 19:56Speaker 3: I'm really unsure.
- 19:57Speaker 2: But either way, they all look great out there. This
- 20:01Speaker 2: has been my favorite episode so far.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Same, same.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Okay, so he got, Jackson got 32 out of 40.
- 20:08Speaker 1: It was the best score that they had received yet,
- 20:10Speaker 1: but they were at the bottom of the leaderboard, which
- 20:15Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, as we were texting last night,
- 20:18Speaker 1: I think it's either between Jackson or Connor to go home.
- 20:21Speaker 1: That's going to go home next.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Yeah, next week.
- 20:24Speaker 1: And there are two celebs that will be leaving next
- 20:27Speaker 1: week because they didn't... Oh, actually, we don't need to
- 20:31Speaker 1: go there. We're not going to talk about that just yet.
- 20:33Speaker 1: But yeah, two celebs will be going home next week.
- 20:35Speaker 1: And I'm wondering if it will be Jackson and Connor.
- 20:38Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 20:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:39Speaker 2: I feel like as we're starting to see these dances
- 20:41Speaker 2: get really good and the scores get bigger, it's now
- 20:45Speaker 2: we're weeding out the best from.
- 20:47Speaker 3: from the good.
- 20:48Speaker 2: I hate even saying that because they've all done a
- 20:51Speaker 2: really great job, but now we're getting above the bar
- 20:54Speaker 2: with the dancing.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Totally. And I think you can see the difference is
- 20:59Speaker 1: becoming more and more exposed. Yes. Yeah, totally. Totally.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Our next couple.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Trista, I love this.
- 21:16Speaker 2: And I will have to admit, I was not on
- 21:19Speaker 2: board at first in our first couple of episodes, but
- 21:23Speaker 2: Amber and Pasha were like, blew me away last night.
- 21:28Speaker 2: And listen, as an athlete, you know what I mean?
- 21:31Speaker 2: Like she showed promise from the first episode. I just
- 21:36Speaker 2: don't know why I didn't jump on board at first,
- 21:38Speaker 2: but like last night, I am like a full-blown like fan.
- 21:42Speaker 2: fangirling out over here. It, for me, this was the
- 21:47Speaker 2: best dance of the night. And I have so many
- 21:49Speaker 2: people on this show this season that I am really
- 21:52Speaker 2: attached to because I like, I have this like emotional
- 21:54Speaker 2: attachment from like childhood or something. But yeah, last night,
- 21:59Speaker 2: Amber and Pasha like blew me away. I am huge,
- 22:03Speaker 2: huge fans now by their, their dancing.
- 22:07Speaker 3: I just, I love it.
- 22:09Speaker 4: I love it. Same.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Same. I wrote down that may have been one of
- 22:14Speaker 1: my favorite dances on dancing with the stars ever.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Like ever.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Yes. And, and not just because like, yes, the, the
- 22:23Speaker 1: choreography was amazing. The, the execution of the choreography was amazing,
- 22:30Speaker 1: but also I, something that I love about dance is
- 22:34Speaker 1: that it tells a story. Some routines tell a story
- 22:38Speaker 1: and they pull you in emotionally. They evoke an emotion.
- 22:42Speaker 1: This was such a clear story on the dance floor. Like,
- 22:47Speaker 1: I don't think we even needed to see the package
- 22:50Speaker 1: to know that she went through all of this stuff
- 22:52Speaker 1: if we hadn't even seen the package, right? And known...
- 22:56Speaker 1: all of the struggles that she went through mentally and
- 22:59Speaker 1: being admitted to a mental health facility and going through.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I have my second set of cold chills right now, Trista.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, I love it. Oh, my skin is crawling.
- 23:08Speaker 1: I love it so much. No, I don't love it
- 23:09Speaker 1: that she went through a mental... Obviously, we don't love
- 23:12Speaker 1: that part, but the fact.
- 23:13Speaker 2: That she's sharing it, we all love that story that
- 23:16Speaker 2: comes full circle.
- 23:18Speaker 3: We love that.
- 23:19Speaker 4: I know.
- 23:20Speaker 1: And the fact that her sister was basically there to
- 23:24Speaker 1: save her life and remind her that she was worthy
- 23:28Speaker 1: and she mattered. And it was just so freaking powerful.
- 23:33Speaker 1: That's why I love dancing because it evokes emotion and
- 23:39Speaker 1: She executed it perfectly. That part of the dance where
- 23:43Speaker 1: he was holding her upside down and then he flipped
- 23:46Speaker 1: her out of it and she stuck it, like stuck
- 23:48Speaker 1: the landing. I was like, that's going to be repeated
- 23:51Speaker 1: on social media today and like all this week. I
- 23:55Speaker 1: was blown away. And same as you. And maybe you
- 23:59Speaker 1: thought this because... Maybe I've been outspoken about it. I
- 24:03Speaker 1: know I have been outspoken about it from the beginning.
- 24:05Speaker 1: But I hadn't really connected with her. And there were
- 24:08Speaker 1: little things like her feet and those kind of things. Obviously,
- 24:12Speaker 1: she's an Olympian. She's an incredible athlete. And she has
- 24:17Speaker 1: the talent. But I thought last night's dance, I'm forever
- 24:24Speaker 1: now eight. 100% fan.
- 24:26Speaker 2: It was that softer side that we needed to see.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Yes.
- 24:30Speaker 3: It was that softer side.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Yes, I needed that. We've been talking about connection with Jenna, especially,
- 24:37Speaker 1: and with Amber.
- 24:37Speaker 3: I wanted to.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Hear about how.
- 24:42Speaker 1: She's not just an Olympian, that she's just like us
- 24:45Speaker 1: and she struggles. And she obviously showed that last night.
- 24:49Speaker 1: And she got two 10s for it. Love it.
- 24:52Speaker 3: I love it.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I was like, yes! And they were from Carrie Ann.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Tell me if I'm wrong, but a 10 from Carrie
- 24:57Speaker 2: Ann Inaba, I feel like has to be really hard
- 24:59Speaker 2: to get. Like she seems like, I love all of
- 25:02Speaker 2: the judges, but Derek, you know what I mean? He's
- 25:04Speaker 2: real technical.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Bruno is just like a party all the time.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Yep. Yeah.
- 25:09Speaker 2: I feel like it must be hard to get a
- 25:11Speaker 2: 10 from Carrie Ann. And last night, it just, like,
- 25:15Speaker 2: very well deserved. Like, I was super excited about it
- 25:18Speaker 2: and very well deserved.
- 25:20Speaker 1: But, like, holy smokes. Holy smokes. Yeah, holy smokes. The
- 25:25Speaker 1: best scores of the season. The best scores of the
- 25:27Speaker 1: season and hers, obviously. Almost a perfect score. I was
- 25:32Speaker 1: sitting in my living room. And it's not like this
- 25:34Speaker 1: happens all the time. I'm sitting there watching. I was
- 25:37Speaker 1: clapping to my television. I love it. I love it.
- 25:43Speaker 3: It was a very beautiful dance, beautiful story.
- 25:48Speaker 2: We evoked the emotion that we have been looking for
- 25:50Speaker 2: and just that connection to her that was needed.
- 25:54Speaker 3: It was really like, so far, oh man, it's tough.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I was going to say my favorite of the entire
- 26:01Speaker 2: season so far, but man, there's been a lot of
- 26:03Speaker 2: good dances, but she's on up there for me this morning.
- 26:07Speaker 3: With Ezra.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Yeah. She's in the final two. Yeah. For sure. Like,
- 26:13Speaker 1: when I was talking about Mara, because she happened before Amber, I, like,
- 26:18Speaker 1: Amber definitely has squeaked ahead of Mara in my mind.
- 26:21Speaker 1: You know? After last night, I was like, whoa.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Well, she absolutely should. I mean, she got a freaking
- 26:26Speaker 2: 38 out of 40. Like, that's pretty close to freaking perfect.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. And then Pasha got announced as the People
- 26:35Speaker 1: Magazine's Sexiest Dancing with the Stars pro. And the part
- 26:38Speaker 1: about it that I loved the most was Danny freaking
- 26:42Speaker 1: out and being like, I told you. I told you.
- 26:45Speaker 1: He's mine. I told you. They're super cute.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I guess because I'm watching the show now.
- 26:50Speaker 3: They're so cute.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Sometimes their videos will roll into my feed.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Yes.
- 26:53Speaker 2: And I just like to see that real life version
- 26:56Speaker 2: of them. And they're so.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Cute on social media.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:59Speaker 3: I love it. I love love.
- 27:00Speaker 1: So cute. I love love. Have you seen that they
- 27:03Speaker 1: opened like a coffee and treats or something like that
- 27:08Speaker 1: store in Miami? I feel like it's in Miami. And
- 27:13Speaker 1: they just put out this video. You have to go
- 27:15Speaker 1: look at it. It's so funny. It's like her personality
- 27:19Speaker 1: shines through because like someone asked like a kind of
- 27:22Speaker 1: a stupid question and like the look that she's giving
- 27:24Speaker 1: the client, the customer, like it's, I love them on
- 27:28Speaker 1: social media. I love them in person. I love watching
- 27:31Speaker 1: them on my television. I love them. And I'm really
- 27:35Speaker 1: hopeful that this is her season.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Like either of them.
- 27:38Speaker 1: They could win, and I'd be so happy. So anyway, yeah. Okay,
- 27:43Speaker 1: so Jenna is up next, and she was partnered with
- 27:47Speaker 1: Alan because of the drama that happened last, After the episode,
- 27:51Speaker 1: do you remember in the episode, I was like, we're
- 27:53Speaker 1: going to see this play out on social media.
- 27:55Speaker 3: I do.
- 27:55Speaker 1: I do.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Listen, you are just rocking my world because you are
- 27:59Speaker 2: predicting things. That's why I tell people, I'm like, I'm
- 28:01Speaker 2: not the expert here. Trista is the expert. And I
- 28:03Speaker 2: remember you talking about this. And then because of our
- 28:06Speaker 2: text chain, I'm like gasping, you know, separately after we
- 28:10Speaker 2: watched the episode. So this drama we cannot avoid.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Right.
- 28:14Speaker 2: It was almost like, Fel's been on this show for
- 28:18Speaker 2: a long time.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 28:21Speaker 2: It kind of seems like an unfortunate thing to have
- 28:25Speaker 2: happened because now I feel like it changes the taste
- 28:29Speaker 2: for me for the entire season, which is unfortunate because
- 28:33Speaker 2: Jenna is the one who will pay the price for that.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Like Val will come back.
- 28:38Speaker 2: He'll have a job and he'll dance and he's going
- 28:40Speaker 2: to be just fine.
- 28:41Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 28:42Speaker 2: But I almost feel like can they really crown them
- 28:48Speaker 2: champions of the season after that?
- 28:51Speaker 1: Well, I mean, here's the deal. I was never thinking
- 28:54Speaker 1: that she was going to win anyway. I mean, I
- 28:57Speaker 1: didn't even know. I've said I don't even know that
- 29:00Speaker 1: she'll be in the final. So, you know, I guess
- 29:03Speaker 1: because that's my mentality or has been my mentality since
- 29:06Speaker 1: the show began that it's six and one half dozen
- 29:09Speaker 1: the other. Like, you know, it probably won't affect things
- 29:12Speaker 1: because I didn't think that she was going to end
- 29:15Speaker 1: up in the final anyway. Yeah. Yeah.
- 29:17Speaker 2: So for the people who do not know, run it
- 29:20Speaker 2: out real quickly, Trista.
- 29:21Speaker 3: What happened?
- 29:22Speaker 2: You know, the snarky little comment on social media for
- 29:25Speaker 2: the people who do not or might not know about
- 29:26Speaker 2: the drama.
- 29:28Speaker 1: And we'll also bring in the fact that Fresh Prince
- 29:31Speaker 1: kind of stepped into the ballroom tonight, too. So last week,
- 29:36Speaker 1: Carrie Ann gave Jenna Johnson, Val's wife, some criticism that
- 29:41Speaker 1: I feel like was unexpected. I don't think that Jenna,
- 29:44Speaker 1: it was about a lift, which is Carrie Ann's thing, right?
- 29:48Speaker 1: at least mostly about a lift. I think she gave
- 29:50Speaker 1: her some other criticism during the feedback, but Val was
- 29:54Speaker 1: not happy with that feedback. And on social media, he
- 29:59Speaker 1: went on and he said, you almost saw Fresh Prince
- 30:04Speaker 1: step into the ballroom. And I think what people took
- 30:07Speaker 1: from that was, it's interesting because I was talking to
- 30:09Speaker 1: Blakeslee about it. And she's like, I don't think that
- 30:12Speaker 1: they everyone was thinking about the slap. I think that
- 30:16Speaker 1: people were thinking that he was talking about... Do you
- 30:19Speaker 1: remember in the Oscars when Will Smith was saying that,
- 30:24Speaker 1: you know, take my wife's name out of your mouth.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Don't talk about my wife. And I think.
- 30:29Speaker 3: My effing wife.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Yeah. I think that that's maybe where Val was coming from.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Just knowing Val, I feel like he is so kind-hearted. Yes,
- 30:39Speaker 1: he's going to stand up for his wife who... you know,
- 30:43Speaker 1: he loves more than anything in the world. I think
- 30:46Speaker 1: it wasn't as dramatic as that. But I will say,
- 30:50Speaker 1: from Carrie Ann's perspective, I would have taken it a
- 30:53Speaker 1: different way in that Will Smith stepped up on the
- 30:56Speaker 1: stage and smacked Chris Rock.
- 30:58Speaker 2: So that's exactly where my thought went, Trista. It wasn't
- 31:00Speaker 2: about what was said. I immediately referenced the slap. I
- 31:04Speaker 2: don't always remember exactly what Will Smith said on the stage.
- 31:08Speaker 2: I remember the slap that was heard around the world.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Around the world, yeah.
- 31:12Speaker 3: And out of a serious, like... just out of like respect.
- 31:16Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 31:17Speaker 3: For the judges, just out of respect.
- 31:19Speaker 2: My guess is Val thought he was being funny, maybe.
- 31:22Speaker 4: I agree.
- 31:23Speaker 1: In a tasteless joke. I agree.
- 31:26Speaker 3: That's what I probably think.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I agree. But it was tasteless. I agree.
- 31:29Speaker 2: And then it's also like, Almost like, respect your elders. Like,
- 31:33Speaker 2: I realize Carrie-Anne may not be older than him, but.
- 31:35Speaker 1: She's the judge of the show. I totally agree. Have
- 31:38Speaker 1: some human decency for your coworkers.
- 31:41Speaker 2: You wouldn't go to the office and tell HR that
- 31:43Speaker 2: you're going to slap your coworkers. Well, wait.
- 31:46Speaker 1: So, I have to back up a little bit because
- 31:48Speaker 1: in past seasons, it has not always been kumbaya between
- 31:53Speaker 1: the pros and the judges. Oh, okay. Like, his brother...
- 31:56Speaker 1: is very well known for things that he has said
- 32:00Speaker 1: to the judges. And they fight back, like, verbally. They
- 32:06Speaker 1: come back at the judges' comments, especially his brother. And
- 32:09Speaker 1: he has said, you know, Max is his name, and
- 32:13Speaker 1: he has said things like, I don't care what you
- 32:17Speaker 1: have to say or, you know, like things like that
- 32:19Speaker 1: to the judge's face, like after they give them feedback.
- 32:22Speaker 1: So it hasn't always been an arena where it's like
- 32:28Speaker 1: rainbows and butterflies. Like they actually stand up for themselves.
- 32:31Speaker 1: And I was, I was saying this to Blakeslee last night.
- 32:34Speaker 1: you know, I feel like it, and, and mind you,
- 32:37Speaker 1: I do have to preface this by saying I am
- 32:40Speaker 1: fully in Carrie Ann's camp. Like if she felt at
- 32:45Speaker 1: all threatened because of the slap heard around the world
- 32:49Speaker 1: and the, the fact that Val was alluding to that,
- 32:54Speaker 1: I am very thankful that the producer stood up for
- 32:57Speaker 1: her and her safety. And we're like, no, this is no,
- 33:03Speaker 1: what's the word? Um, Non-negotiable. Like, this is non-negotiable. I
- 33:08Speaker 1: need to feel safe. So I am totally with Carrie
- 33:10Speaker 1: Ann in this. But I will say that, you know,
- 33:14Speaker 1: in our society, I feel like people use hyperbole a lot.
- 33:19Speaker 1: And you'll be like, Oh, I could strangle that person. Right.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Or you know what I mean? Right. And it can
- 33:24Speaker 1: be very misinterpreted.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Yes.
- 33:27Speaker 1: So I feel like I know Val, but I don't
- 33:31Speaker 1: know him very well. It's not like I'm his wife or,
- 33:34Speaker 1: you know, a good friend or whatever. But I do
- 33:37Speaker 1: feel like I know that he is a kind-hearted person.
- 33:41Speaker 1: And I just hope that this gets buried quicker. And
- 33:44Speaker 1: I will say, last night... Yes, Alan brought it up
- 33:48Speaker 1: when Alan and Jenna Dewan sat down before they started
- 33:52Speaker 1: practicing for the week, and he addressed it, but very minorly. Like,
- 33:57Speaker 1: they did not talk about this really at all last night.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Carrie Ann did not say anything. Nobody said really anything
- 34:05Speaker 1: except for during the package when Alan addressed it with Jenna.
- 34:08Speaker 1: And they had to, because they couldn't just be like, okay, well,
- 34:12Speaker 1: I'm here to help you out, you know? Right. But
- 34:15Speaker 1: I feel like they are hopefully trying to brush it
- 34:18Speaker 1: under the rug. And I'm really hoping that that is
- 34:20Speaker 1: what happens.
- 34:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Listen, as adults, I think it's hard to take constructive criticism.
- 34:25Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 34:25Speaker 2: Like, I believe that that's a skill we have to
- 34:27Speaker 2: learn in adulthood. It starts in childhood, but it's something
- 34:30Speaker 2: that we have to learn. And I would imagine, too,
- 34:33Speaker 2: on a show like this where this is their, you know,
- 34:36Speaker 2: expertise to be dancing. probably at times constructive criticism because
- 34:42Speaker 2: I do not think that Carrie Ann was mean in.
- 34:44Speaker 1: What she said.
- 34:45Speaker 2: But sometimes, right, like we act like little unruly toddlers
- 34:49Speaker 2: when we don't like what we hear.
- 34:50Speaker 1: And sometimes we stomp our feet and.
- 34:52Speaker 2: We scream and that results in posting on social media
- 34:56Speaker 2: and you're like, oops, shouldn't have done that. And then
- 35:00Speaker 2: we have to deal with the consequences of our actions.
- 35:05Speaker 1: And I thought that was a very appropriate statement consequence
- 35:09Speaker 1: that he has to sit out for this dance I
- 35:11Speaker 1: don't think that he has to sit out any further weeks.
- 35:15Speaker 2: No it sounds like he was just suspended from the
- 35:17Speaker 2: ballroom for one week yeah the unfortunate part is that
- 35:20Speaker 2: I believe that it changes for me and maybe when
- 35:24Speaker 2: we post this right people will let us know in
- 35:26Speaker 2: the comments for me I believe it changes the look
- 35:30Speaker 2: of them.
- 35:31Speaker 1: For the rest of the season And it probably does,
- 35:34Speaker 1: but like I'm saying, or in my mind, it wouldn't
- 35:40Speaker 1: have affected things so much as to take her out
- 35:43Speaker 1: of the final because I don't know that she would
- 35:44Speaker 1: have been in the final anyway.
- 35:46Speaker 4: Sure.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Even though she is clearly the one who showed up
- 35:50Speaker 1: on the ballroom floor with the most talent from the get-go.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Right.
- 35:54Speaker 1: She is an incredible dancer. Right. Um, but I just,
- 35:58Speaker 1: you know, the connection and last night I was really like, okay,
- 36:03Speaker 1: Jenna is who I've been talking about all season, how
- 36:06Speaker 1: I really want to connect more with her, that I
- 36:09Speaker 1: want to feel her humanness. I want to feel the
- 36:13Speaker 1: raw vulnerable side of Jenna. And I thought, you know,
- 36:18Speaker 1: it w it was her mom again, which I loved.
- 36:20Speaker 1: I love that her mom, you know, and her. Her
- 36:24Speaker 1: dad and her mom split up when she was just
- 36:27Speaker 1: a baby. And that was really hard. And she, you know,
- 36:33Speaker 1: showed her mom on the dance floor how much she
- 36:34Speaker 1: loved her and appreciated her. I will say it was
- 36:37Speaker 1: a great dance. And she did get 110 from Carrie Ann,
- 36:42Speaker 1: her first 10, which was amazing. But I will say
- 36:46Speaker 1: what I noticed, the dancing was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Alan
- 36:49Speaker 1: was an incredible partner to her. They got up to
- 36:53Speaker 1: the skybox after the dance was over. And I cannot
- 36:55Speaker 1: remember exactly what Julianne asked her, but she didn't mention
- 37:01Speaker 1: her mom at all. So now that.
- 37:03Speaker 3: You say that, and I did notice it, I'm with you.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Did you notice it? Yeah.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Was the dedication a little forced? Like, was she literally,
- 37:11Speaker 2: and I'm just pulling, you know, out of the sky here, Trista,
- 37:15Speaker 2: I could be very wrong.
- 37:16Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 37:17Speaker 2: And tell me if you agree or not, but was it, oh,
- 37:20Speaker 2: I feel even just terrible saying it out loud.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Okay. So just bear with me.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Was it a means to pull on heartstrings to get
- 37:28Speaker 2: votes by dedicating the dance to her mom? And it
- 37:31Speaker 2: was not a genuine dedication. Like, you know, some of
- 37:35Speaker 2: the others that we have seen and talked about so far,
- 37:37Speaker 2: it felt like a genuine dedication. Was this more of
- 37:41Speaker 2: a calculated move for votes or And I feel so
- 37:47Speaker 2: terrible saying it.
- 37:48Speaker 1: I don't know. I feel so terrible saying it. Well, see,
- 37:53Speaker 1: I'm glad that you sensed it, too, that when she
- 37:55Speaker 1: got up to the skybox that she... Really, there wasn't
- 37:59Speaker 1: any mention of her mom. And I feel like the question,
- 38:01Speaker 1: I would love to go back and hear what the
- 38:04Speaker 1: question was. Because I just felt like everyone else, when
- 38:08Speaker 1: they're in the Skybox, has been talking about how special
- 38:12Speaker 1: the week was and they loved having their mom or whatever,
- 38:15Speaker 1: their sister or whoever.
- 38:16Speaker 2: And tears, like they're crying and the pros are crying
- 38:19Speaker 2: like this.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I know.
- 38:19Speaker 2: There was a real lack of emotion. Like the connection,
- 38:23Speaker 2: is that the right word I'm looking for? The connection
- 38:26Speaker 2: for me was lost with the dance and the person
- 38:29Speaker 2: that we saw.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it's unfortunate. Like I don't know if, you know,
- 38:34Speaker 1: we don't know all of what's going on behind the scenes, right?
- 38:37Speaker 1: So I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
- 38:40Speaker 1: And for her, I'm wondering if there was someone else
- 38:44Speaker 1: that she wanted to dedicate it to. And then- Like
- 38:49Speaker 1: for whatever reason, she couldn't. And not to say that
- 38:53Speaker 1: her mom isn't a special person to her because I
- 38:55Speaker 1: feel like she is and the story is genuine. But
- 38:59Speaker 1: I just was like, oh gosh, like if she had
- 39:02Speaker 1: just mentioned her mom in the skybox, I feel like
- 39:04Speaker 1: I would have been like. That was beautiful. And I
- 39:06Speaker 1: have no qualms, like no nothing. She deserved her incredible score,
- 39:11Speaker 1: which she did. Her frame is gorgeous, like gorgeous frame,
- 39:16Speaker 1: gorgeous execution of the dance. I love the choreography. I
- 39:20Speaker 1: just am still yearning for a little bit more connection.
- 39:23Speaker 1: And I don't know why that is, but it's just,
- 39:27Speaker 1: it is what it is.
- 39:28Speaker 3: You know, I think it's also.
- 39:29Speaker 2: we could absolutely circle it back with a lot of
- 39:32Speaker 2: the drama that surrounded the situation for from the week
- 39:35Speaker 2: you know what I mean and something that I want
- 39:37Speaker 2: to make sure we we note is that Val did
- 39:40Speaker 2: make a public apology for his actions so I just
- 39:43Speaker 2: wonder for for them for the two of them for
- 39:46Speaker 2: Jenna you know was it just a bit of a
- 39:49Speaker 2: week Was it just a bit.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Of a week?
- 39:51Speaker 2: And now they're a little bit trying to save face, unfortunately,
- 39:54Speaker 2: for what happened.
- 39:55Speaker 3: Was it just a bit of a week for them?
- 39:58Speaker 1: You're right. That is definitely something that I'm sure played
- 40:02Speaker 1: into her week, is that she has built up this
- 40:05Speaker 1: chemistry with Val for six weeks so far. Were we
- 40:10Speaker 1: on the seventh week? Yeah, for six weeks so far.
- 40:14Speaker 1: And then to all of a sudden have it stop, right?
- 40:18Speaker 1: because of the drama and feeling bad for Val and
- 40:21Speaker 1: wanting him to be there and wanting, like, there's so
- 40:24Speaker 1: much trust that you build up to of, like, guidance
- 40:27Speaker 1: and all of that. So that wasn't there. So I
- 40:29Speaker 1: will give her that benefit of the doubt. And she
- 40:33Speaker 1: still did great, Trista. She still did amazing. She got
- 40:35Speaker 1: her first 10 last night. Yes, yes. She scored a
- 40:37Speaker 1: 37 out of 40. She still did great.
- 40:39Speaker 2: I will tell you that I was rolling through social
- 40:41Speaker 2: media this morning and there were a lot of, like,
- 40:43Speaker 2: but behind the scenes clips of her with her pro
- 40:47Speaker 2: last night, Alan, just showing that there was genuine connection
- 40:52Speaker 2: between the two of them and genuine friendship. You know
- 40:54Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 40:55Speaker 3: So like, we're like.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Nitpicking here almost as we're talking about this, but it's
- 40:59Speaker 2: something that we cannot avoid.
- 41:01Speaker 3: It has to be discussed.
- 41:02Speaker 1: She still did amazing.
- 41:04Speaker 2: And for someone to have to switch up in a
- 41:06Speaker 2: week like that and do a dance with a new
- 41:09Speaker 2: pro that she doesn't really have a background or a
- 41:12Speaker 2: history with, She still did phenomenal. 37 out of 40
- 41:16Speaker 2: is like something to write home about.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Like that's, you know, she still did great. I want
- 41:20Speaker 1: to bring up something that you just reminded me of.
- 41:22Speaker 1: So on social media after last week's episode. There was,
- 41:26Speaker 1: remember how we talked about how Justin Baldoni was in
- 41:28Speaker 1: the ballroom? So there was a clip on social media.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I don't know whose clip it was, but it showed
- 41:34Speaker 1: up on my feed. And they were saying it was
- 41:38Speaker 1: a video of Jenna Dewan like going, ah, like to
- 41:43Speaker 1: someone in the audience, right? And they were saying, this
- 41:46Speaker 1: is the moment that Jenna Dewan noticed Justin Baldoni. And
- 41:49Speaker 1: they were saying that she was doing that to Justin Baldoni.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Baldoni like saying, oh my God, I love you, you know, blah, blah, blah.
- 41:55Speaker 1: I was sitting behind Danielle Fischel and it was Danielle
- 41:59Speaker 1: Fischel who she was doing that to. Like literally, I
- 42:02Speaker 1: remember the moment going, oh my gosh, they have such
- 42:06Speaker 1: a beautiful connection. I wonder how they know each other,
- 42:08Speaker 1: you know, like thinking that in the ballroom. And then
- 42:11Speaker 1: when that video came out, I'm like, that was not
- 42:13Speaker 1: about Justin Baldoni. So you know what I mean? Like,
- 42:16Speaker 1: there's only so much that we can, as viewers, we
- 42:19Speaker 1: are seeing all of these things play out. We don't
- 42:22Speaker 1: know the full story. Like you're saying, we're nitpicking and whatever.
- 42:26Speaker 1: We don't know the full story. We're just seeing what
- 42:29Speaker 1: they're showing us.
- 42:30Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, we always appreciate your behind the scenes stories.
- 42:34Speaker 2: things and details, Trista. You're behind the scenes with Danielle.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Now we know she was not blowing kisses to Justin Baldoni.
- 42:43Speaker 2: We always appreciate everything that you add to the conversation here.
- 42:47Speaker 3: So now we know.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Okay, so Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson are up next.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. I love this.
- 43:06Speaker 2: I love it.
- 43:07Speaker 1: I love this. I loved it. Okay.
- 43:09Speaker 2: We've seen all the moms. We've seen them like honor
- 43:12Speaker 2: their parents.
- 43:13Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 43:14Speaker 2: And the fact that he dedicated this dance to his
- 43:16Speaker 2: wife of 20 years, like as a divorced woman, you
- 43:20Speaker 2: are married, Trista. You know that marriage is not easy.
- 43:22Speaker 2: It ebbs and flows. It's never 50-50. Someone's giving 80.
- 43:25Speaker 2: Someone's giving 20.
- 43:26Speaker 3: 20 years is a long time to be with someone.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Like I love, love, love. That he dedicated this dance
- 43:34Speaker 2: to his.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Wife, Shelby. I do, too. And what I also love
- 43:37Speaker 1: is that his whole family was on the dance floor.
- 43:40Speaker 1: His parents, he started off with his parents, and then
- 43:44Speaker 1: he got to dance the dance with his wife, who
- 43:46Speaker 1: is a beautiful dancer.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:49Speaker 1: She is a beautiful dancer. And then they brought their
- 43:52Speaker 1: daughter on stage at the end. Like, it was totally beautiful.
- 43:54Speaker 1: I have cold chills again. I'm not lying. I have
- 43:56Speaker 1: cold chills again.
- 43:57Speaker 3: I'm, like, so happy.
- 43:59Speaker 1: I loved this dance. And... But what made me so
- 44:03Speaker 1: mad is he didn't get any 10s. He deserved 10s.
- 44:06Speaker 2: I was like, 9s?
- 44:07Speaker 1: No, I'm sorry. What? He deserved at least one 10.
- 44:12Speaker 1: I agree. I agree. You know what?
- 44:14Speaker 2: I found it interesting because last week we had Joe
- 44:17Speaker 2: who gave some really high scores.
- 44:19Speaker 3: And then with Kim, albeit I did not know.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Who she was, I guess I just expected her to
- 44:24Speaker 2: hand out some generous scoring this week.
- 44:27Speaker 1: And she really, she didn't. She gave 10s.
- 44:29Speaker 3: Good, appropriate scores.
- 44:31Speaker 2: But I guess just reflecting on last week, I expected
- 44:34Speaker 2: her to give some pretty generous scoring. She had some
- 44:37Speaker 2: really wonderful notes to say, but I guess I just
- 44:39Speaker 2: wanted her to be the generous guest judge.
- 44:41Speaker 1: The Joe Buck. How Joe Buck was last week. How
- 44:44Speaker 1: he was like, oh, whatever. I don't care what you
- 44:45Speaker 1: guys have to say. I'm giving a nine or whatever. Yeah. Um, yes,
- 44:50Speaker 1: I loved this dance from start to finish. I loved
- 44:54Speaker 1: the choreography. I really truly feel like the ability of
- 44:57Speaker 1: his wife and their chemistry and the humor in their relationship.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Like it just shined through, um, the camera. I loved
- 45:06Speaker 1: what Kim Johnson had to say that she didn't see
- 45:09Speaker 1: a hip hop dancer in the ballroom. She saw a
- 45:11Speaker 1: ballroom dancer doing a beautiful Foxtrot. I was like, that
- 45:14Speaker 1: was perfection. Like a perfect, perfect dance. Comment. And he
- 45:20Speaker 1: got all nines. I really do feel like he deserved
- 45:24Speaker 1: a better score.
- 45:25Speaker 2: It was his best score of the season so far also.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Like we saw that a lot last night. Everybody got
- 45:29Speaker 2: their best score of the season. I was there for it.
- 45:31Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, this is what.
- 45:32Speaker 2: I've been waiting for.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Totally. Amazing, amazing, amazing.
- 45:36Speaker 3: And next up we had Connor and Riley.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Oh, these little cutie pies. They're so cute.
- 45:42Speaker 2: But I heard you say it earlier on in the episode,
- 45:46Speaker 2: you know, that you are seeing the time nearing for
- 45:49Speaker 2: either Connor or Jackson. And I think that, you know,
- 45:55Speaker 2: as a viewer watching it, when you saw all of
- 45:57Speaker 2: the incredible dances of the night, and then we get
- 46:01Speaker 2: to a Jackson or Connor, I'm kind of like, huh, okay.
- 46:06Speaker 1: You know, he still did great.
- 46:08Speaker 2: We have seen improvement with him. I just think for me, Trista,
- 46:15Speaker 2: I'm all done.
- 46:16Speaker 1: I'm all done. Yeah. You know, it was funny because
- 46:20Speaker 1: Watching him this week was very different for me because
- 46:23Speaker 1: last week going to the ballroom and seeing him in
- 46:26Speaker 1: person and seeing my daughter and her friends freaking out
- 46:30Speaker 1: because they love him, like love him. it definitely changed
- 46:37Speaker 1: my thoughts on him. And I felt like I was
- 46:41Speaker 1: watching him this week with more like love from my
- 46:45Speaker 1: heart instead of just like the critical dancer. I am
- 46:50Speaker 1: because they just look up to him so much. So
- 46:53Speaker 1: I saw that love through the girl's eyes, you know? Um,
- 46:58Speaker 1: I will say the story of his father and how
- 47:00Speaker 1: he has battled lymphoma. Just, oh, wow.
- 47:04Speaker 2: I was just going to say the same thing. I
- 47:06Speaker 2: love to see everyone dedicate to their moms, but I
- 47:10Speaker 2: love that he dedicated to his dad. And there was
- 47:13Speaker 2: this moment for me that was very.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Fitting for my own life.
- 47:19Speaker 2: You know, he talked about how his dad still attended
- 47:21Speaker 2: all of his tennis matches. And I thought of that
- 47:25Speaker 2: because when I tell people about my mom, you know,
- 47:27Speaker 2: she passed when I was 12. And when Connor shared
- 47:30Speaker 2: this about his dad never missing a tennis match, it
- 47:33Speaker 2: like pulled on my heartstrings because I remember that my
- 47:35Speaker 2: mom on her deathbed and she never missed a softball game.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Whether she was like sitting in the bleachers or like
- 47:40Speaker 2: laying down on a lounge chair, my mom was at
- 47:43Speaker 2: every single game.
- 47:43Speaker 3: And so this for me created connection and just.
- 47:47Speaker 2: you know, just love that like unconditional love that our
- 47:52Speaker 2: parents give to us.
- 47:53Speaker 3: I'm so happy he dedicated this.
- 47:56Speaker 1: To his dad. Yeah. Yeah, I was too. I was
- 48:00Speaker 1: happy to see the variety. I was happy to hear
- 48:03Speaker 1: his dad's story and, you know, his fight and his
- 48:06Speaker 1: struggle that he's still, you know, fighting hard. And And
- 48:10Speaker 1: that he showed up. And I love that you could
- 48:13Speaker 1: relate to that story. That if you're relating to it,
- 48:17Speaker 1: I guarantee there's so many people at home, too, who
- 48:20Speaker 1: are relating to it.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's almost like there's this whole part of the
- 48:23Speaker 2: connection with adults, people, children who have lost a loved one,
- 48:28Speaker 2: but a parent.
- 48:30Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 48:31Speaker 2: Grief is so hard on many levels. But just, and
- 48:36Speaker 2: I realize he hasn't experienced that Whatever. I'm just the
- 48:39Speaker 2: connection for me. You know what I mean? Like it
- 48:42Speaker 2: just creates that bond between people, whether you know each
- 48:45Speaker 2: other or not, when you've experienced the same situation and
- 48:48Speaker 2: walk through the same thing in life.
- 48:51Speaker 3: But yeah, I, I like loved it. I thought he
- 48:53Speaker 3: did a great job.
- 48:55Speaker 2: It's just for me, it's just when we are comparing
- 48:57Speaker 2: it to the other dancers, but we have seen improvement
- 49:00Speaker 2: in him every single week. He is taking notes of
- 49:03Speaker 2: the judges. He is listening to what they say. He
- 49:05Speaker 2: is improving.
- 49:06Speaker 1: And I love that.
- 49:08Speaker 3: I love that.
- 49:08Speaker 2: He got, looks like all eights last night. You know,
- 49:12Speaker 2: that was also his best score so far, 32 out
- 49:15Speaker 2: of 40. They're just cutie patooties, those two.
- 49:18Speaker 1: They are. Yes. I love, them together. But yeah, I
- 49:22Speaker 1: wonder if this will be his week next week when
- 49:24Speaker 1: he'll be going home. Okay. So next dancer. Oh my God.
- 49:29Speaker 1: I was crying from start to finish. I I mean,
- 49:33Speaker 1: just the package alone, him talking about how he lost
- 49:36Speaker 1: his mom to a brain aneurysm. And I knew that story,
- 49:39Speaker 1: but hearing him talk about it and the really special
- 49:43Speaker 1: moment where Sharna got closer to him on the couch
- 49:47Speaker 1: and put his hand on his and just the support
- 49:50Speaker 1: there was.
- 49:52Speaker 1: Oh, so powerful. I have cold chills again, Trista. I
- 49:55Speaker 1: was like, I like love this episode. I am so
- 49:59Speaker 1: happy with this episode.
- 50:01Speaker 2: I like love, love it, love it, love it. I
- 50:03Speaker 2: can't stress it enough, but like, That was really sweet.
- 50:07Speaker 3: It was really sweet.
- 50:09Speaker 2: One of my favorite parts, given everything that was so
- 50:12Speaker 2: wonderful last night, was like his reading over his song.
- 50:16Speaker 2: They did Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran, but the letter
- 50:20Speaker 2: that he read over the music to his mom. I mean,
- 50:24Speaker 2: I did not cry, but like I could cry right now.
- 50:26Speaker 2: I was like, that is just one of the most special.
- 50:30Speaker 1: Oh, maybe I might cry.
- 50:32Speaker 2: That was like one of the most special things that
- 50:36Speaker 2: I have ever seen really in a long time. Him
- 50:41Speaker 2: reading that letter to his mom while we're watching him
- 50:44Speaker 2: dance with his fiance, who we now know is pregnant
- 50:48Speaker 2: with his baby.
- 50:48Speaker 1: I was just like, I love them.
- 50:51Speaker 3: I love them.
- 50:53Speaker 1: This story is going to go down in history as
- 50:54Speaker 1: one of the best ones ever told on Dancing with
- 50:56Speaker 1: the Stars. Like truly, I feel like the fact that
- 51:01Speaker 1: Tate is a beautiful dancer. And then you have him
- 51:04Speaker 1: lifting her up with her belly to the heavens to
- 51:07Speaker 1: his mom to say, Mom, we're having a baby.
- 51:10Speaker 3: I was.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Oh, it was cold chills again. This is getting ridiculous,
- 51:16Speaker 1: but I like loved it.
- 51:17Speaker 2: And when she, the moment where I don't know what
- 51:19Speaker 2: the move is called, where he kind of spins her
- 51:21Speaker 2: around and her dress opens and she puts her hands
- 51:23Speaker 2: on her belly.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Trista. I was like, Oh my God, I love them.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Maybe have you seen the picture?
- 51:29Speaker 2: It could be like me and Tate and Tyler, like
- 51:32Speaker 2: the three of us, because they're just adorable.
- 51:36Speaker 1: I mean, and then he put his hands on her
- 51:37Speaker 1: belly too. I'm just like, I've, They're so cute. I'm
- 51:41Speaker 1: so happy for them. Seriously. I mean, here's the picture.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Where?
- 51:47Speaker 1: Oh, gosh, it's not there. Oh, man, I'm so mad.
- 51:51Speaker 1: There's a picture of. them standing there with the lights
- 51:56Speaker 1: behind them um like holding the belly and.
- 52:00Speaker 4: So cute oh they're so cute i i seriously i
- 52:06Speaker 4: love them i i love this story i love that
- 52:10Speaker 4: he was able to share it with america.
- 52:13Speaker 1: And have a freaking gender reveal with um confetti blasters
- 52:18Speaker 1: blasting peak confetti they will have that for the rest
- 52:21Speaker 1: of their lives like this baby girl is born they're
- 52:23Speaker 1: gonna be like baby we've revealed you on dancing with
- 52:26Speaker 1: the stars the percentage what is that like one percent
- 52:29Speaker 1: can ever say that they did that he is the
- 52:31Speaker 1: one percent you know what i mean like that was
- 52:33Speaker 1: one percent.
- 52:34Speaker 3: Thing yeah coolest thing it was really.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Awesome So cool. He did get a 32 out of 40,
- 52:40Speaker 1: which I thought he deserved better scores. Um, and it is,
- 52:45Speaker 1: it was a contemporary dance and contemporary dances are dances
- 52:48Speaker 1: that evoke emotion. That's kind of the purpose of contemporary
- 52:52Speaker 1: dances or a lot of them is to evoke emotion.
- 52:56Speaker 1: And he definitely did that. I was so thankful. He
- 53:01Speaker 1: had a contemporary number for this piece. Because I felt
- 53:05Speaker 1: like if it would have been the Paso or something
- 53:07Speaker 1: like the Samba, obviously it wouldn't have worked. So the
- 53:10Speaker 1: fact that he had a contemporary piece to be able
- 53:15Speaker 1: to really bring us into his emotions was really so cool.
- 53:20Speaker 1: But he ended up with a 32 out of 40.
- 53:22Speaker 1: He was at the bottom of the leaderboard. Oh, and
- 53:25Speaker 1: this was really weird. Okay, so after they have a
- 53:28Speaker 1: gender reveal.
- 53:29Speaker 3: I was wondering if you were going to say this.
- 53:31Speaker 1: Yes, they have a gender reveal. It's the most special. Like,
- 53:35Speaker 1: I'm bawling my eyes out. And then they have this
- 53:39Speaker 1: cat in the hat number where people are wearing blue
- 53:41Speaker 1: wigs and like, wait, what? Like, wait, whoa, whoa, whoa. Like,
- 53:45Speaker 1: I don't know. The placement of that just felt a
- 53:49Speaker 1: little odd to me. Let us all cry for a moment.
- 53:51Speaker 1: Give us that moment.
- 53:52Speaker 2: Like, why didn't they cut to a commercial break there
- 53:54Speaker 2: while we all sob and get our tissues? Like, we're
- 53:56Speaker 2: so happy for Tyler Cameron. Let us be happy.
- 53:58Speaker 1: It was so weird. I don't know. It was weird.
- 54:01Speaker 1: And I love Sochi. She is so cute. And all
- 54:06Speaker 1: of the dancers on the... on the dance floor during
- 54:10Speaker 1: the Cat in the Hat number were great. It was
- 54:12Speaker 1: a fun number, but I was like, really?
- 54:14Speaker 3: It just was very unfitting.
- 54:15Speaker 2: People in TikTok are already mocking this already.
- 54:18Speaker 3: You know what I mean? They're already like poking fun
- 54:20Speaker 3: at this little tidbit. It was really, it was missed.
- 54:24Speaker 3: It was missed.
- 54:25Speaker 1: It was missed.
- 54:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Okay, last dance, Julia and Ezra.
- 54:30Speaker 2: And.
- 54:31Speaker 1: I'll let you take this one because since I have
- 54:33Speaker 1: never seen... No, I just love her. Well, I've never
- 54:35Speaker 1: seen 10 Things I Hate About You, so... Charista, we
- 54:38Speaker 1: have got to do a movie night. You didn't see
- 54:39Speaker 1: Save the Last Dance.
- 54:40Speaker 3: You did not see 10 Things I Hate About.
- 54:42Speaker 1: It was like... That was like.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Save the Last Dance was really like the start of
- 54:46Speaker 2: her career. But 10 Things I Hate About You is
- 54:48Speaker 2: where we fall in love with Heath Ledger.
- 54:50Speaker 3: Like, this was like his breakout role. And we all
- 54:53Speaker 3: know that he has since passed. And this.
- 54:56Speaker 2: I can't believe you haven't, tonight your assignment is to
- 54:59Speaker 2: go and watch 10 Things I Hate About You.
- 55:01Speaker 1: It is such a fun, you could watch it.
- 55:03Speaker 3: With Blakely, uh, Blakeslee.
- 55:04Speaker 1: It's such a fun movie. She loves that movie. Yes,
- 55:07Speaker 1: she loves it. It's about like teenage love, you know
- 55:09Speaker 1: what I mean? Actually.
- 55:10Speaker 2: That first crazy love that you have.
- 55:12Speaker 1: How cute is this story? Max, you know how they
- 55:14Speaker 1: do homecoming like proposals, Hoko proposal or whatever you call them.
- 55:19Speaker 1: He did his to Maggie, their first homecoming together. It
- 55:22Speaker 1: was 10 Things I Love About You. Oh my God.
- 55:25Speaker 1: That's just horrible. I don't know. Maybe I am a
- 55:29Speaker 1: hopeless romantic.
- 55:30Speaker 2: I say that I'm not, but like, Those were my
- 55:32Speaker 2: first sets of movies, like when I was a teenager
- 55:35Speaker 2: and I did have.
- 55:36Speaker 1: A first love. Not 16 Candles or Animal's Fire?
- 55:39Speaker 2: No, I liked those, but it wasn't that connection that
- 55:41Speaker 2: I had. Like I still remember watching 10 Things I
- 55:45Speaker 2: Hate About You and it being like, it affected me.
- 55:48Speaker 2: Like it was that like crazy teenage love. Like I
- 55:51Speaker 2: had a boyfriend in high school that I dated for
- 55:53Speaker 2: five years and it was that crazy teenage love, like
- 55:55Speaker 2: the butterflies, like you can't live without him. And there's
- 55:58Speaker 2: a scene in 10 Things I Hate About You where
- 55:59Speaker 2: she's telling him like, I don't hate you.
- 56:02Speaker 3: I can't hate you. Like, you know what I mean?
- 56:03Speaker 2: It's that part, like that first time that you experience
- 56:08Speaker 2: love with someone.
- 56:09Speaker 1: And it's Heath Ledger. We're all turned on to him.
- 56:11Speaker 2: And that's like his breakout role. He's so great. She's
- 56:14Speaker 2: so great. What we have discussed multiple times is that
- 56:18Speaker 2: our producer, Heather, predicted that Julia would dedicate this dance
- 56:24Speaker 2: to Heath Ledger.
- 56:25Speaker 3: And she did.
- 56:26Speaker 2: She dedicates it to her co-star. I was just like
- 56:30Speaker 2: here for every bit of it. And at the end,
- 56:32Speaker 2: when her other co-stars come onto the dance floor and
- 56:35Speaker 2: they're all holding hands, most of which we know who.
- 56:38Speaker 3: They are today.
- 56:39Speaker 2: They have had very successful careers and recognizable names. For me,
- 56:43Speaker 2: it was like nostalgia at its best, Trista. I was like, okay, okay.
- 56:50Speaker 2: This episode has made everything for me. It was....
- 56:55Speaker 3: It was an iconic scene from the movie, Trista. And it.
- 57:00Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 57:01Speaker 2: I'm just, like, all up in all of my feels
- 57:03Speaker 2: right now. I, like, loved it.
- 57:06Speaker 1: It was, like, a cult classic, and I get it. Like,
- 57:09Speaker 1: if this was Breakfast Club or 16 Candles or something,
- 57:12Speaker 1: I would totally be buying into all the hype. Do
- 57:14Speaker 1: you know what I mean? So, I know I'm probably
- 57:17Speaker 1: going to get bashed for this, but I... It just wasn't, like, technically...
- 57:22Speaker 1: Same as Mara. And I have loved Mara since the beginning.
- 57:26Speaker 1: I just felt like she got all nines. And I
- 57:28Speaker 1: think that was the same as Mara. She got all nines.
- 57:30Speaker 1: And I felt like there were technical things in the
- 57:33Speaker 1: dance that they didn't bring up because they were so... Like,
- 57:39Speaker 1: because they bought into the story so much. Because they
- 57:42Speaker 1: probably all are huge fans of the movie, too.
- 57:44Speaker 3: I bought into the story, Trista.
- 57:45Speaker 1: I am that person.
- 57:46Speaker 3: I bought into the story. I did not.
- 57:48Speaker 2: See any of the technical things that you're talking about.
- 57:51Speaker 2: I was so thrilled with her all nines. I'll have
- 57:53Speaker 2: you know that they used... I'm just like, I bought in.
- 57:58Speaker 3: I bought in.
- 57:58Speaker 2: Her hair was a throwback to the movie. Her dress
- 58:01Speaker 2: was based on her prom dress from the movie. it
- 58:04Speaker 2: was all in the details for me. Like I sold,
- 58:07Speaker 2: you sold the whole story for me dancing with the stars.
- 58:10Speaker 3: I bought in, I'm with it.
- 58:12Speaker 2: Like I didn't even care about her feet or the
- 58:14Speaker 2: timing or anything.
- 58:16Speaker 1: You're like, whatever. That's what I mean. Yes. Which is
- 58:19Speaker 1: great because it was a contemporary piece, just like I
- 58:21Speaker 1: said with Tyler. But the fact of the matter is like,
- 58:24Speaker 1: I bought into Tyler's dance because of the storyline and
- 58:28Speaker 1: he got all eights. Do you know what I mean?
- 58:30Speaker 1: So it was like, the cult classic definitely won out
- 58:35Speaker 1: over the sentimentality. Do you know what I mean? Yeah.
- 58:38Speaker 2: I mean, the fact that you haven't seen that movie,
- 58:40Speaker 2: I'm going to have to just like text you after
- 58:41Speaker 2: this and scold you.
- 58:42Speaker 3: Like that's your assignment for the day.
- 58:44Speaker 1: Well, it's funny because Kim Johnson was saying, I hadn't
- 58:47Speaker 1: seen the movie and I just watched it this week.
- 58:48Speaker 1: I'm like, I probably should have watched the movie. You
- 58:50Speaker 1: probably should go right now and watch the movie because
- 58:54Speaker 1: it's amazing. I've watched it with Addison and it's like,
- 58:57Speaker 1: All of those things, they just, they do. Like, she
- 58:59Speaker 1: could have had the worst dance of her life last night,
- 59:02Speaker 1: and I would have still been like, it was amazing.
- 59:03Speaker 1: They included Heath Ledger, like, her dance, her hair, because
- 59:07Speaker 1: I have such a connection to that movie.
- 59:09Speaker 3: Like, all of those people.
- 59:10Speaker 1: I was like, oh my God, they're so cute.
- 59:13Speaker 3: That's all I needed, hook, line, and sinker. I was
- 59:15Speaker 3: just like, I'm blown away.
- 59:18Speaker 1: I hear that. I hear it. And it's totally valid.
- 59:21Speaker 1: It's all good. We end the show with them going
- 59:36Speaker 1: over the leaderboard. Amber and Pasha are at the top
- 59:40Speaker 1: of the leaderboard. They should have been at the top
- 59:42Speaker 1: of the leaderboard. Like I said, I think it was
- 59:44Speaker 1: one of my all-time favorite Dancing with the Stars dances.
- 59:47Speaker 1: And then at the bottom, we had a four-way tie.
- 59:51Speaker 1: with Connor, Jackson, Tatiana, and Tyler. Like I said, I'm
- 59:57Speaker 1: thinking that it's time for Connor and Jackson to go
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: home next week. They had us on the edges of
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: our seats. Like, we're texting, and you guys didn't have
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: the feed live yet. So I'm saying, oh, we're at
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: the end of the show, and it looks like they're
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: going to send somebody home. And Heather was like, no,
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: I don't think they do that during dedication night. And
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: I'm like, well, they're getting ready to right now. Like
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: the music is like, dun, dun, dun, you know? And
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: then they're like, nah, no one's going home. We're just
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: going to send two people home next week. So that
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: was a moment that I was thankful for because I
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: was like, how hard would it be? I mean, How
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: hard is it for the judges to judge this night anyway?
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Who do you send home?
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: You can't possibly send home Tyler Sharna and their baby.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Like, you can't do that. You can't send Julia.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: Stiles home because she dedicated to Heath Ledger, our beloved
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: Heath Ledger. Like, they obviously cannot send anyone. Oh my gosh,
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: they're dedicating it to their moms and their dads. We
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: can't send anyone home.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: I know. But you know what's interesting is, yes, we
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: have a four-way tie for the bottom with Connor Jackson, Tatiana,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: and Tyler. But actually, I took a picture of the
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: leaderboard because I wanted to reference back to this. Maura
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: is next. Maura had a 35, and then Julia had
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: a 36. She was tied with Harry Shum. I don't know.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: I'm really hopeful that Maura doesn't go home because she's
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: not at the bottom, but she's two points away from that,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: three points away from that. I do— my guess is that
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: it will be Connor and Jackson's time.
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: You heard it here, people. I mean, I'm probably wrong,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: but it's fine. No, you're not. I don't think you've
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: been wrong so far. Well, yes, I think I have, maybe.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: But whatever, it doesn't matter. It's not about right or
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: wrong in this. I just love watching the show. I
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: will say that even if Connor and Jackson don't go
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: home next week, I think maybe the week following will
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: be their time, you know? Yeah. Next week is Halloween week,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: which is always really fun in terms of costumes and makeup.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: They do such a good job.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: In the hair and makeup department and the wardrobe department
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: on this show. And Shirley Ballas, Mark's mom. Did you
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: watch The Next Pro?
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: No, no, I don't have, I don't have any clue.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: I know who Mark Ballas is, but I don't know
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: who his mom is. I'm not sure like what we're all,
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: I'm not, what am I going to get?
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: What am I going to get?
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: So Mark comes from a long line of, well, his
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: parents were both pros. Corky was actually on the show,
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: on Dancing with the Stars as a pro back in
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: the day. I don't know that he was there for
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: very long. Maybe it was one or two seasons, but
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: I believe he was a pro on Dancing with the Stars.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: And now Mark is. And now his mom is coming
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: on the show as a judge. And she was a
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: judge on Next Pro, which was the show that gave
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: us Adele, who was the pro that they announced this season.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: She was a brand new pro. She won the Next Pro,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: which is what Robert Irwin hosted this show, like right
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: leading up to Dancing with the Stars, where they were
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: trying to find the next pro for Dancing with the Stars.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: And she was a judge. And she's definitely hardcore. She
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: does not hold back in her commentary. She will tell
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: it like it is. If you have pancake hands, if
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: your footwork is horrible, I can't remember the words that
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: she used, but it will be actually fun to have
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: her in the ballroom just to hear what she says
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: because she doesn't hold back.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: You know, Julianne Hough, I know we're wrapping up. Julianne
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: Hough posted a photo this week of her and her brother, Derek,
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: and Mark when they were kids. I knew that they
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: all knew each other. And I do, even though I
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: hadn't watched the show, I knew that they trained together,
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: but I thought that was really cute, especially given next
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: week that Shirley is going to be on there as
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: a guest judge.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: I thought that was so cute.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: I love little things like that when, you know, especially
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: with a show that I'm just really like getting attached to.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: I loved that little piece of them. They must've been
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: like six or seven years old. They were such kids.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: And it was a shot of them when they were
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: just like, they're just like the cheesing, like in the
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: early nineties.
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: It was like, I was like, Oh, they're cute.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: I love the throwback pictures. That's amazing. And just knowing
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: that they grew up together with Mark is just really sweet. Yeah.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: So I'm really looking forward to next week. I don't
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: know that any week can top this last night's episode
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: for me.
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: No, this is it for me. I'm sold. I'm sold.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Although the finale. So during the finale, as we've talked about,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: I think I talked about it last week or the
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: week before. In the finale, they do... a freestyle routine
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: all the pros do a freestyle routine and that are
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: still in the finale and the freestyles are really fun
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: because they can make them either really emotional and sentimental
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: or they can make them like a huge like Broadway
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: show performance you know Whitney Leavitt's dance last year with
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: Mark Ballas oh my gosh I'm still thinking about that
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: routine so anyway yes this was Such a fun episode.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Such an emotional episode. We're so happy for you, Tyler
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: and Tate. And I'm really excited to see, oh boy,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: the rest of the season. I don't want it to end.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: Even I'm really happy for Tyler and Tate.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: I know you are. Oh, God.
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: I can't.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: I love it. Okay. Thanks, everybody, for listening to The
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Most Dramatic Dance Floor Ever with me and Deanna. We
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: are so thankful that you were here listening. Please. Go
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: on social, Almost Famous Podcast and comment on anything that's
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: put out about the show because we'd love to hear
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: your comments. We'd love to get you all talking about
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: how you loved the episode because we know you did too. And,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: you know, of course, comment on our commentary. If you
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: think that we're wrong about something, call us out and
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: then we can talk about it. So, yeah. Thanks for listening.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: We have to go.
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: Trista's got to watch 10 Things I Hate About You.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay, bye, everybody.
