Speaker 3: Bestmaster Taylor dot com. Thursday edition of the show, it
• 2:12
Speaker 3: is opening day for Major League Baseball season, so you know,
• 2:15
Speaker 3: I'm excited about that. I got the Reds gear on
• 2:18
Speaker 3: ready to go. We are still in the playoff hunt
• 2:21
Speaker 3: at this point, we are still in the playoffs, which
• 2:24
Speaker 3: is a good thing. I don't know how much longer
• 2:26
Speaker 3: that'll last. But we talk about the opening day for
• 2:28
Speaker 3: the Reds coming up a little bit later on the show.
• 2:31
Speaker 3: Also a couple of big events going onto the area.
• 2:33
Speaker 3: One of those is happening Sunday, and that is in Nitro.
• 2:37
Speaker 3: Our good friend Joe Stevens, my fellow baseball aficionado. Will
• 2:41
Speaker 3: he just cheers for the wrong team. But Joe Stevens
• 2:45
Speaker 3: going to join us talk about that a little bit
• 2:46
Speaker 3: later on. And this has to do with Vietnam veterans
• 2:50
Speaker 3: and it's an event that they're doing on Sunday in Nitro.
• 2:52
Speaker 3: And you know, Nitro is a city that kind of
• 2:55
Speaker 3: prides itself on the things that day for veterans. It's
• 3:00
Speaker 3: a city that was actually born out of the Armed Services.
• 3:04
Speaker 3: So they've got an event going on for Vietnam veterans
• 3:06
Speaker 3: and it's actually open to all veterans. That's happening on Sunday.
• 3:10
Speaker 3: We'll talk to Tony the Tailor about that. Plus just
• 3:13
Speaker 3: prior to the air coming into the air this morning,
• 3:15
Speaker 3: I guess, and this goes along the lines with veterans.
• 3:17
Speaker 3: I got some good news concerning the project that we've
• 3:22
Speaker 3: been helping out with for veterans, and if I get
• 3:24
Speaker 3: an opportunity, well, let me just say I'm going to
• 3:26
Speaker 3: make an opportunity to talk about that coming up a
• 3:28
Speaker 3: little bit later on in the show. But it's always

• 3:41
Speaker 3: the little ones, maybe the big ones too to be
• 3:44
Speaker 3: would be Laidleyfield and Charleston for the annual egg Stravaganza.
• 3:47
Speaker 3: I'll be there with her sister station ninety eight to
• 3:49
Speaker 3: seven of the Mouth, and in fact, I think most
• 3:51
Speaker 3: of our stations are going to be there. Aaron Wood
• 3:53
Speaker 3: from Quantum Party Rentals putting the whole thing odd. He
• 3:55
Speaker 3: joins us now this morning, Good morning, sir, welcome to
• 3:57
  Speaker 3: the show.
• 3:58
Speaker 6: Good morning, thanks for having me.
• 3:59
Speaker 3: Thank you for being here, and welcome to our new abode.
• 4:03
Speaker 3: I know it looks awesome. Yeah, I mean, first thing
• 4:05
Speaker 3: he did, Aaron walked in, he looks do wow. This
• 4:07
Speaker 3: is nice. It's almost paid for too, almost all right.
• 4:11
Speaker 3: So it's that time again for people that aren't familiar
• 4:14
Speaker 3: with what's going on at egg Stravaganza over It lately
• 4:18
Speaker 3: on Saturday, Well, we just have.
• 4:19
Speaker 6: A few things going on. It's going to be a
• 4:21
Speaker 6: crazy day. Gates open at noon, so you want to
• 4:25
Speaker 6: get there early because the first thousand people through the
• 4:28
Speaker 6: gate get a free pizza Hut Pan Pizza certificate and
• 4:32
Speaker 6: they also get a free ticket to the West Virginia
• 4:35
Speaker 6: United soccer games that happen at Trace Fork Soccer Complex.
• 4:40
Speaker 6: We're gonna have over sixty inflatables on the field and
• 4:43
Speaker 6: around in the parking lot. We're gonna have a petting zoo.
• 4:45
Speaker 6: You're gonna have train rides, euro bungee rock walls, mechanical bulls.
• 4:50
Speaker 6: You know, if you can imagine it, it's gonna be there.
• 4:52
Speaker 6: I mean, you guys have done this.
• 4:54
Speaker 3: How many years have you done this? This is just
• 4:56
Speaker 3: our second second year, okay, because I remember I think
• 4:58
Speaker 3: sometimes I was because you also do the water Festival
• 5:01
Speaker 3: over there too, and we were over there for that
• 5:03
Speaker 3: last year. That was certainly a great turnout as well.
• 5:06
Speaker 3: This is a great event to bring the kids, and
• 5:09
Speaker 3: it's really it's not it's not that expensive.
• 5:12
Speaker 6: No, it's ten dollars. Now everyone that enters, including the parents,
• 5:16
Speaker 6: have to pay the ten dollars, but it's just ten
• 5:18
Speaker 6: dollars to enter, and it's play all day from twelve
• 5:20
Speaker 6: to seven. We will have food trucks and Ladyfield will
• 5:23
Speaker 6: have their concession stand open, so we're gonna have plenty
• 5:25
Speaker 6: of food options this year. Food trucks is new. We're
• 5:28
Speaker 6: gonna have barbecue, tacos, cheesecake, all that good stuff, so
• 5:32
Speaker 6: that's something new new this year too. We're gonna be
• 5:35
Speaker 6: doing an egg hunt at one pm. We'll have prizes
• 5:40
Speaker 6: in the eggs, candy and the eggs. A one egg
• 5:42
Speaker 6: will actually have five hundred dollars in cash inside, so
• 5:45
Speaker 6: one lucky person who's gonna walk away a big winter
• 5:48
Speaker 6: On Saturday, suggest that the parents bring blankets and chairs
• 5:52
Speaker 6: to sit out on the turf to watch your kids play.
• 5:55
Speaker 6: Quantum Party Renolds is rolling out some of its newest
• 5:58
Speaker 6: gear to show off to the community what we have.
• 6:02
Speaker 6: Quantum Sports will be giving away birthday parties to the
• 6:05
Speaker 6: indoor center. Coldwell Insurance and PoCA Valley Bank or two
• 6:09
Speaker 6: of our biggest sponsors for the event. So we're super
• 6:11
Speaker 6: excited to get everybody out on Saturday. And the weather
• 6:13
Speaker 6: looks fabulous. I mean, yeah, you couldn't ask for better weather.
• 6:17
Speaker 6: It looks like we're gonna have some rain maybe Saturday
• 6:19
Speaker 6: into Monday. I mean, I'm sorry Sunday into Monday.
• 6:21
Speaker 3: But Saturday it's picture perfect for an event like this,
• 6:23
Speaker 3: the time to get the shorts back, especially after the
• 6:25
Speaker 3: winter earon that we've had. I mean, I think that
• 6:27
Speaker 3: people are gonna want to get outside.
• 6:30
Speaker 6: Yep, I think so too. You know last year the
• 6:32
Speaker 6: line went down the street around the corner, around the
• 6:35
Speaker 6: back side of the field, so you know, I suggest
• 6:37
Speaker 6: if you're gonna come, you might want to go and
• 6:39
Speaker 6: pre purchase tickets. That way you can just walk through,
• 6:42
Speaker 6: scan your phone and not have to wait in that
• 6:44
Speaker 6: long line to purchase your ticket.
• 6:46
Speaker 3: And how do people prepurchase their tickets.
• 6:49
Speaker 6: There's a couple of ways you can get to our
• 6:50
Speaker 6: Facebook page Easter Extravaganza and click on the event and
• 6:53
Speaker 6: the link for the tickets is on there. Or you
• 6:55
Speaker 6: can go to our sponsor page, Quantum Party Rentals dot
• 6:59
Speaker 6: Com on events and you'll see the Easter event there,
• 7:02
Speaker 6: and the link for the tickets is also on that
• 7:05
Speaker 6: page along with all the information about the event.
• 7:08
Speaker 3: And again the price to get in is ten dollars.
• 7:11
Speaker 3: But that's all day, and so if the family comes in,
• 7:15
Speaker 3: I mean, you're going to entertain these kids in beautiful
• 7:19
Speaker 3: weather all day and stuff for the parents too. Oh yeah, yeah.
• 7:24
Speaker 6: The Ladyfield actually will have a beer ten available, So
• 7:26
Speaker 6: if the parents want to enjoy a nice ice cold beer,
• 7:28
Speaker 6: you know, while it's hot, more power to them. The
• 7:33
Speaker 6: only extra money you need to bring for the rides
• 7:35
Speaker 6: is for food. There's no charge for any of the
• 7:37
Speaker 6: rides once you enter. Everything is included in just the
• 7:41
Speaker 6: ten dollars entry fee.
• 7:42
Speaker 3: We got a text here somebody said, what is the
• 7:45
Speaker 3: age for the five hundred dollars hunt?
• 7:47
  Speaker 6: Zero to eighteen?
• 7:48
Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, because we don't want we don't want forty
• 7:51
Speaker 3: five year old guys out they're pushing kids over anything
• 7:53
Speaker 3: like that. That would be bad, all right, so it's
• 7:56
Speaker 3: up to eighteen yep for the five hundred dollars hunt.
• 8:00
Speaker 3: And again, this is an all day event in a
• 8:03
Speaker 3: in a great facility, and the folks at ladley Field
• 8:05
Speaker 3: have been really good to I mean I would imagine
• 8:08
Speaker 3: to work with over the years, and it's kind of
• 8:10
Speaker 3: you know when there's not a whole sometimes there's not
• 8:13
Speaker 3: a whole lot that goes on there during the off season.
• 8:15
Speaker 3: But it's a great event. I know with the water
• 8:17
  Speaker 3: Festival last year, it's it's a great it's a great
• 8:19
Speaker 3: place to have an event like this.
• 8:21
Speaker 6: Yep, it is awesome. It's it's great for the parents
• 8:24
Speaker 6: to get out with the whole family, you know, bring
• 8:27
Speaker 6: blankets and lawn chairs to sit out on the turf
• 8:30
Speaker 6: and just relax for the day and let your kid
• 8:32
Speaker 6: play and have the time of their life.
• 8:34
Speaker 3: All right. Again, it's happening at Laidley Field and Charleston
• 8:37
Speaker 3: and it'll be this Saturday from noondle seven. And you
• 8:40
Speaker 3: mentioned a couple of your sponsors. I know Coldwell Insurance
• 8:43
Speaker 3: is a big sponsor. Your your companies are a big
• 8:45
Speaker 3: part of this, but there's several other sponsors that are
• 8:48
Speaker 3: involved to make this happen as well, right, Yes, I know.
• 8:50
Speaker 6: The radio station got several sponsors involved, c AMC, PoCA Valley,
• 8:56
Speaker 6: and I think there was one more Pizza Hut.
• 9:00
Speaker 3: I'm in there insurance, and I've got a flyer posted
• 9:03
Speaker 3: about it on my social media if in case Anon
• 9:05
Speaker 3: and I left one out, I've got the flyer posted.
• 9:08
Speaker 3: You can check that out on Dave Allen Radio. It
• 9:10
Speaker 3: sounds like it's going to be a great, great event
• 9:13
Speaker 3: and a great event for the family to bring the
• 9:16
Speaker 3: kids out. And again, I keep talking about the weather
• 9:18
Speaker 3: because the weather is going to be fantastic for this event.
• 9:22
Speaker 6: Erin Yes, I am so excited about the weather. You know,
• 9:25
Speaker 6: it's been cold, so cold all winter long, and even
• 9:28
Speaker 6: this spring. You know, I thought we were going to
• 9:30
Speaker 6: have a warm up and then it got cold again.
• 9:32
Speaker 6: And this week with all the rain and the cold weather,
• 9:34
Speaker 6: Everybody's going to be super excited to get out on Saturday.
• 9:37
Speaker 6: And I'm super pumped to have all the kids having
• 9:40
Speaker 6: a good time on Saturday.
• 9:41
Speaker 3: And again, as I said, all of our stations are
• 9:44
Speaker 3: going to be involved over there. I think I'm there
• 9:46
Speaker 3: sometime in the afternoon representing our sister station, Classic Rock
• 9:50
Speaker 3: ninety eight seven the mount and so we'll be over
• 9:52
Speaker 3: there for that and Pizza Hut and in your companies
• 9:56
Speaker 3: and call Well Insurance and all those fine sponsored. Again,
• 9:58
Speaker 3: we have a Polka Valley and we got an entire
• 10:01
Speaker 3: list of them. C A MC ever been anything is
• 10:04
Speaker 3: and the Kanawa the Kanawha City Community Association, kanas.
• 10:08
Speaker 6: City Community Association, will also be there. They'll have a
• 10:11
Speaker 6: tent in case anybody from Kanal City is there. You
• 10:14
Speaker 6: can sign up for the association. They'll have information. West
• 10:17
Speaker 6: Virginia United, the summer pro soccer team in West Virginia,
• 10:20
Speaker 6: will be there giving out information and selling team gear.
• 10:24
Speaker 6: You know, we're giving away one thousand free tickets to
• 10:27
Speaker 6: West Virginia United to the first thousand kids through the gate,
• 10:30
Speaker 6: along with one thousand free Pizza Hut pizzas to the
• 10:33
Speaker 6: first thousand kids through the gate. We have some other
• 10:36
Speaker 6: giveaways for Evolve Aesthetics. You know, the amount of giveaways
• 10:41
Speaker 6: that you could receive far exceeds the ten dollars entry fee.
• 10:44
Speaker 3: All right, and again remind folks, I know you have
• 10:46
Speaker 3: a Facebook page. As I said, I've got information posted
• 10:49
Speaker 3: on Dave Allen Radio to get those tickets in advance.

• 15:26
Speaker 3: bit later on. And we just picked up two new
• 15:28
Speaker 3: affiliates that'll I think start next week. One of those
• 15:30
Speaker 3: down in Greenbrier County, the folks at Radio Greenbrier, my
• 15:33
Speaker 3: buddy Jeff Campbell and that group down there. They're going
• 15:36
Speaker 3: to pick up the show on one of their stations,
• 15:39
Speaker 3: and a station that I know a little something about
• 15:42
Speaker 3: that's WVW and Logan because I worked there for twenty
• 15:45
Speaker 3: years doing the morning show. It's going to be airing
• 15:47
Speaker 3: down there, I think on WVW twelve ninety Am, which
• 15:53
Speaker 3: I think that's the way that's going to work. But
• 15:55
Speaker 3: we'll have more information as we get a little bit closer.
• 15:59
Speaker 3: Tex says Dave. Did you say Tony the Taylor is
• 16:01
Speaker 3: having a Trump sale. No, I do not think he's
• 16:06
Speaker 3: having a Trump sale. But I mean, look, Tony would
• 16:09
Speaker 3: sell anything, and he thought he could he could make
• 16:11
Speaker 3: some money out. That's why he and I get along
• 16:13
Speaker 3: so well. This coming Sunday, I want to invite you
• 16:16
Speaker 3: to an event being held in Nitro. Nitro, of course,
• 16:19
Speaker 3: is your home with the West Virginia Vietnam War Memorial Wall.
• 16:23
Speaker 3: The West Virginia Vietnam Veterans of America annual event is
• 16:26
Speaker 3: designed to honor and to welcome home Vietnam veterans. It's
• 16:30
Speaker 3: opened all veterans, though, and Joe Stevens from the city
• 16:33
Speaker 3: of Nitro joins us to talk about it. Joseph, good morning,
• 16:36
Speaker 3: welcome to the show.
• 16:38
Speaker 5: Thank you, Dave. And by the way, before I forget
• 16:40
Speaker 5: he hats off to you and Amanda Baron midday. It
• 16:44
Speaker 5: has really picked up. It gives me a reason to
• 16:47
Speaker 5: listen to the radio from twelve to three.
• 16:49
Speaker 3: You'd be surprised that the number of people that have
• 16:52
Speaker 3: said that. And look, I'm not hating on what we
• 16:56
Speaker 3: had in that time slot before. Everybody likes what they like,
• 16:59
Speaker 3: and that's when of the great things about America. But
• 17:02
Speaker 3: We've had a number of texts and I've had phone
• 17:04
Speaker 3: calls and emails for people that have said I can
• 17:06
Speaker 3: turn the radio back on again and again, and there's
• 17:08
Speaker 3: there have been people that weren't exactly happy with the decision,
• 17:11
Speaker 3: to be fair, but so far it's all been positive.
• 17:14
Speaker 3: I do appreciate your kind words. You're somebody that's uh
• 17:17
Speaker 3: uh that your opinion holds a lot of weight with
• 17:20
Speaker 3: me because you've been in in the radio business yourself
• 17:23
Speaker 3: for a long time, and I appreciate I always always
• 17:26
Speaker 3: like to know what's on Joe Stephens's mind, So I
• 17:27
Speaker 3: appreciate that, and I know what's go.
• 17:29
Speaker 5: Ahead, go ahead, No, I was just going to say,
• 17:32
Speaker 5: would you pass that thought off to my wife too?
• 17:34
Speaker 5: About that about my opinion that you like and I appreciate.
• 17:38
Speaker 3: Well, I'm one hundred percent know how that goes. Before
• 17:43
Speaker 3: I get to talking to you, Joe about why you're
• 17:45
Speaker 3: actually here today. You know, it's opening day, man, so
• 17:49
Speaker 3: we got to start. I'm gonna ahead and get it
• 17:51
Speaker 3: out of the way now we're talking about opening about
• 17:55
Speaker 3: opening day, uh for the Cincinnati Reds and and and
• 17:59
Speaker 3: all most of the other Major league teams. What are
• 18:01
Speaker 3: you excited. I know you're a Baltimore Orioles fan. What
• 18:03
Speaker 3: are you excited about?
• 18:04
Speaker 5: Man opening Day? It's uh, it's it's a right of spring.
• 18:09
Speaker 5: It's all I can say is and believe me, I
• 18:12
Speaker 5: know that they've already played games in Japan. Yeah, but
• 18:15
Speaker 5: I know that everybody is playing games today. I wish
• 18:18
Speaker 5: that they'd go back to the concept of having Cincinnati
• 18:23
Speaker 5: play the opening game of Major League Baseball, But nonetheless,
• 18:27
Speaker 5: it's a right of spring. It's opening Day. Everybody except
• 18:31
Speaker 5: for the Dodgers and the Podgraves, I guess, are tied
• 18:34
Speaker 5: for first place with zero and zero marks and we
• 18:37
Speaker 5: go forward to here it until October November.
• 18:39
Speaker 3: So what about your team, the O's how do they
• 18:41
  Speaker 3: look this season?
• 18:43
Speaker 5: Well, to be determined, right when when you.
• 18:49
Speaker 3: Take when you take a big pause like that, that
• 18:51
Speaker 3: that tells me something. It's like when when Yeah, it's
• 18:54
Speaker 3: kind of like with the reds Man when when people
• 18:56
Speaker 3: say what do you think about the season, you take that. Well,
• 19:01
Speaker 3: so that's your thoughts on your team? The Orioles, right, yes, exactly.
• 19:06
Speaker 5: I think they're going to make the playoffs. How far
• 19:09
Speaker 5: they go in the playoffs, They've got a ten game
• 19:12
Speaker 5: I think losing streak in the playoffs right now, it
• 19:15
Speaker 5: dates back to two thousand and sixteen or before that,
• 19:20
Speaker 5: twenty fourteen against Kansas City. So it's a wait and
• 19:24
Speaker 5: see again. We're O and O. We play in Toronto today,
• 19:27
  Speaker 5: Let's go O's all.
• 19:28
Speaker 3: Right, and I'm going to talk a little bit more
• 19:30
Speaker 3: baseball on this opening day. And I'm kind of like Joe.
• 19:32
Speaker 3: I know that there's already been games played in Tokyo,
• 19:34
Speaker 3: but to me, it's not Opening Day until it's actually
• 19:37
Speaker 3: in Cincinnati. The Reds don't play till this afternoon, late
• 19:39
Speaker 3: this afternoon, as a matter of fact. But Jeff Jenkins
• 19:42
Speaker 3: is going to join us, maybe Dale Cooper too, to
• 19:44
Speaker 3: talk about some Reds baseball a little bit later on
• 19:46
Speaker 3: the show. All Right, so you and I can talk
• 19:48
Speaker 3: about baseball all day. Let's talk about what's going on
• 19:51
Speaker 3: with the city of Nitro on Sunday for this event
• 19:55
Speaker 3: that is designed as a welcome home.
• 19:57
Speaker 5: Talk about it well a couple last year. This is
• 20:02
Speaker 5: the second year that we've had this event. The event
• 20:04
Speaker 5: had been previously been conducted at the state Capitol. Some
• 20:09
Speaker 5: things happened and the Vietnam Vents Organization contacted us here
• 20:15
Speaker 5: at Nitro and said, hey, we would like to bring
• 20:19
Speaker 5: this annual event to the city of Nitro. You know
• 20:22
Speaker 5: what it takes to take care of veterans and everything,
• 20:26
Speaker 5: and we were more than happy to step up. And
• 20:28
Speaker 5: there'll be The event will be this Sunday, which is
• 20:31
Speaker 5: March the thirtieth, and it'll be happening in the Living
• 20:35
Speaker 5: Memorial Park at Second Avenue and twenty first Street here
• 20:39
Speaker 5: in Nitro. It's an annual event celebrating or I say celebrating,
• 20:45
Speaker 5: but just saying thank you for when they came home.
• 20:49
Speaker 5: The actual day of landing and bringing everybody home from
• 20:54
Speaker 5: Vietnam was March to twenty ninth, but the folks here
• 20:57
Speaker 5: with the West Virginia Vietnam Chapter does the observation and
• 21:02
Speaker 5: observes the day on the thirtieth. Like you said, David,
• 21:06
Speaker 5: it's about the Vietnam veterans, but all veterans are welcome
• 21:10
Speaker 5: because not only will we have some speakers and we
• 21:12
Speaker 5: can get into that in a second, but we will
• 21:14
Speaker 5: have a lot of the Veteran administration folks here with displays,
• 21:19
Speaker 5: answering information and just making it a day of information,
• 21:25
Speaker 5: day of saying thank you.
• 21:27
Speaker 3: Indeed, We're talking to Joe Stevens from the City of
• 21:29
Speaker 3: Nitro about this event. As he said that is open
• 21:32
Speaker 3: to all veterans. Are kind of focusing on Vietnam veterans,
• 21:35
Speaker 3: but it doesn't matter when you serve. As long as
• 21:37
Speaker 3: you served, you're welcome to come to the event, you
• 21:39
Speaker 3: and your family. The Dave Alan Show on five DY
• 21:41
Speaker 3: Live is brought to you part by Morgan and Morgan
• 21:43
Speaker 3: with more than twenty billion dollars recovered. They believe that
• 21:46
Speaker 3: when you're injured, you deserve more. Morgan and Morgan America's
• 21:48
Speaker 3: largest injury law firm. Let's talk about some of those
• 21:51
Speaker 3: speakers and some of the other things going on as
• 21:52
Speaker 3: part of this event.
• 21:53
Speaker 5: Joe, Well, the main speaker, and he has been for
• 21:58
Speaker 5: the last couple of years, will be Cecil Roberts, who
• 22:02
Speaker 5: just recently announced that he will be retiring as president
• 22:06
Speaker 5: of the United Mine Workers Association. That will be happening
• 22:09
Speaker 5: in October. But Cecil is a veteran of Vietnam and
• 22:14
Speaker 5: he will be the keynote speaker, and that will be
• 22:16
Speaker 5: happening around one point thirty. Everything really gets underway at
• 22:20
Speaker 5: about eleven o'clock. Another speaker will be the new Veterans
• 22:24
Speaker 5: Administration Secretary in West Virginia. He will be joining us,
• 22:30
Speaker 5: and there'll be some other speakers with the various chapters
• 22:34
Speaker 5: from around the state and and that sort of thing.
• 22:37
Speaker 5: Dave also, Hey, if you want a hot dog, come
• 22:40
Speaker 5: on by. There'll be free hot dogs. So you know,
• 22:42
Speaker 5: foods near and dear to your heart in my heart,
• 22:45
Speaker 5: but that will be happening. It's just a day to
• 22:49
Speaker 5: commemorate a portion of this country's history that sometimes people forget.
• 22:56
Speaker 3: You're exactly right. One of the things, Joe, that I
• 22:59
Speaker 3: like about when when you folks in Nitro do these
• 23:02
Speaker 3: sorts of events is that it's not only there's a
• 23:05
Speaker 3: lot that goes into it. And you mentioned that the
• 23:07
Speaker 3: cecil Roberts will be there and there's some other guest speakers,
• 23:10
Speaker 3: and that's all great, but there's also a lot of
• 23:12
Speaker 3: information that is disseminated there and sometimes whether our veterans
• 23:17
Speaker 3: there are services and whatnot available that they may not
• 23:21
Speaker 3: know about. And that's one of the things I like
• 23:22
Speaker 3: about how the city of Nitro does these events is
• 23:25
Speaker 3: that you give the opportunity for folks to learn a
• 23:28
Speaker 3: little something while they're there as well.
• 23:32
Speaker 5: It's important that people have a resource to be able
• 23:35
Speaker 5: to find out information. A lot of times they'll go
• 23:38
Speaker 5: online and not be able to get the information that
• 23:41
Speaker 5: they can that they need, and a face to face
• 23:45
Speaker 5: conversation about a situation that they're facing works a lot better.
• 23:51
Speaker 5: And that's what we try to provide them, a face
• 23:53
Speaker 5: to face, a name, a person that they can relate
• 23:56
Speaker 5: to and get the information that they need. One thing
• 23:59
Speaker 5: I want I want to remind everybody that the Nitrohistory
• 24:02
Speaker 5: and Wars Museum, which has a special section about the
• 24:05
Speaker 5: Vietnam conflict, that will be open on Sunday also during
• 24:09
Speaker 5: this event, and it's right around the corner from where
• 24:12
Speaker 5: all the festivities will be going on.
• 24:14
Speaker 3: Talking to Joe Stevens again from the City of Nitro
• 24:17
Speaker 3: about this event going on Sunday. There but Dave Valid
• 24:20
Speaker 3: Show and five a D Live brought to you in
• 24:21
Speaker 3: part by Bridge Valley offering custom Taylor trainings to supply
• 24:24
Speaker 3: skilled graduates and apprenticeships for your company. Visit Bridge Valley
• 24:28
Speaker 3: dot edu and there are a lot of different services
• 24:30
Speaker 3: that are available. Sometimes I think, Joe, when we think
• 24:32
Speaker 3: about services for veterans, we only think about, you know,
• 24:35
Speaker 3: when they have issues or problems, and that's certainly very
• 24:38
Speaker 3: important and that happens often, but there's a lot of
• 24:40
Speaker 3: other services and a lot of other programs that maybe
• 24:43
Speaker 3: sometimes people just aren't aware of and maybe the family
• 24:46
Speaker 3: members And this is something too. I have always said
• 24:50
Speaker 3: that if my interview that I did last week with
• 24:53
Speaker 3: the first female chief of Detectives for the Knaw County
• 24:57
Speaker 3: Sheriff's Department, I brought that up with her, is that
• 25:00
Speaker 3: when you are serving in the emergency services field or
• 25:04
Speaker 3: you're serving in the military, the entire family is serving
• 25:07
Speaker 3: along with you, and so sometimes the family members need
• 25:12
Speaker 3: this information just as much as the veterans do. And Joe,
• 25:16
Speaker 3: I think you would agree.
• 25:17
Speaker 5: With that well without a doubt, especially if you're a caregiver.
• 25:22
Speaker 5: We've got information for if you are a caregiver of
• 25:25
Speaker 5: a veteran that will be there. But you know, we
• 25:28
Speaker 5: talk about that this is highlighting the Vietnam conflict, but
• 25:32
Speaker 5: any veteran can come and get this information, and a
• 25:34
Speaker 5: lot of times they don't know that they have services
• 25:38
Speaker 5: available to them fie. Mortgages, education, et cetera. And they
• 25:43
Speaker 5: can come and get that information. And again, I look,
• 25:46
Speaker 5: what we like about it is you're talking to a
• 25:49
Speaker 5: person face to face.
• 25:50
Speaker 3: Indeed, OK, so give us the information on the event.
• 25:55
Speaker 3: Where can people learn more on your social media? Just
• 25:59
Speaker 3: to kind of to give us an overview of everything again,
• 26:01
  Speaker 3: Joe again.
• 26:03
Speaker 5: It'll be happening. This is an annual event. It's the
• 26:08
Speaker 5: Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day, and it will be happening
• 26:12
Speaker 5: Sunday this Sunday, March the thirtieth, and it will get
• 26:15
Speaker 5: getting underway around eleven o'clock or so. The information boost
• 26:19
Speaker 5: will be probably setting up around ten o'clock. And it's
• 26:21
Speaker 5: right there at Living Memorial Park. It's right on Second
• 26:24
Speaker 5: Avenue in Nitro, and you can just come down Route
• 26:27
Speaker 5: twenty five, turn up twenty first Street one block in
• 26:31
Speaker 5: and you'll see everything happening right there at the Living
• 26:34
Speaker 5: Memorial Park. Cecil Roberts, the keynote speaker, is expected to
• 26:39
Speaker 5: talk about one thirty or so, and the event will
• 26:42
Speaker 5: continue with the information boosts up until two to thirty
• 26:46
Speaker 5: somewhere around those days.
• 26:48
Speaker 3: How's the weather looking for Sunday? I mean, do we
• 26:51
Speaker 3: have I'm looking at the forecaster about a sixty percent
• 26:53
Speaker 3: chance of rain, but I'm not sure when that's supposed
• 26:57
Speaker 3: to happen, I think primarily late at night.
• 26:58
Speaker 5: Is that was that?
• 26:59
Speaker 3: I know you can keep an odd at Joe. Is
• 27:00
Speaker 3: that is that the way you see it?
• 27:03
Speaker 5: That's that's what we're looking at right now. Just talking
• 27:07
Speaker 5: to Spencer Atkins at WWK, he is looking at it
• 27:12
Speaker 5: for us, and he's saying it's going to be pushing
• 27:15
Speaker 5: into the latter part of the evening. So keeping our
• 27:18
Speaker 5: fingers crossed and hopefully everything will be fine. If we
• 27:22
Speaker 5: have to move it indoors, we'll move it into the museum.
• 27:25
Speaker 5: But yeah, that you know, right now, we're planning on
• 27:28
Speaker 5: having everything outside for people to be able to get information.
• 27:31
Speaker 5: And another big thing about this is the fellowship that
• 27:36
Speaker 5: goes on between the brothers that serve.
• 27:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, and you've heard me talk about my late father,
• 27:43
Speaker 3: who was a Vietnam veteran who passed away because of
• 27:46
Speaker 3: Agent Orange, and you know he I think sometimes that
• 27:50
Speaker 3: he and other veterans felt like that nobody would really
• 27:52
Speaker 3: understand them. I mean I certainly did, and I didn't serve,
• 27:55
Speaker 3: so I certainly couldn't understand what he was talking about.
• 27:57
Speaker 3: But sometimes when you get them with people that go,
• 28:00
Speaker 3: you know, hey, brother, hey, sister, I was right there
• 28:02
Speaker 3: with you. I know what you went through. And even
• 28:04
Speaker 3: if they're not just Vietnam, I mean, like you said,
• 28:06
Speaker 3: there's a brotherhood sisterhood that comes with serving in the military,
• 28:11
Speaker 3: and it sometimes it doesn't matter whether you served in
• 28:14
Speaker 3: wartime or peacetime. There's something that those folks do that
• 28:20
Speaker 3: no one else that civilians like myself will never understand.
• 28:23
Speaker 3: So sometimes getting people linked up with people that just
• 28:26
Speaker 3: if nothing else, to put an arm around them and go, hey,
• 28:29
  Speaker 3: I've been there, I know what you're going through. It's
• 28:30
Speaker 3: very important as well.
• 28:31
Speaker 5: Joe, without a doubt, and I had three brothers who served,
• 28:35
Speaker 5: two in the Navy and one in the Air Force,
• 28:38
Speaker 5: and to see them collaborate and to share their feelings,
• 28:43
Speaker 5: it's pretty special, it really is. And we'll see a
• 28:47
Speaker 5: lot of that on Sunday.
• 28:48
Speaker 3: All right, Hey, I appreciate your listening. I appreciate you
• 28:53
Speaker 3: calling in. I said, well, I guess you were listening
• 28:54
Speaker 3: as well as you're listening to me. Best of luck
• 28:57
Speaker 3: to your team, the Baltimore Orioles, that is, until they
• 29:01
Speaker 3: played the Cincinnati Rations we played this season. I mean,
• 29:03
Speaker 3: with this whole interleague. I'm an old school guy, and
• 29:06
Speaker 3: I don't really like this Interleague Blaze stuff. But it's
• 29:08
Speaker 3: it's not going anywhere. It's been around for decades now,
• 29:11
Speaker 3: I guess or whatever. But the Reds and the O's
• 29:13
  Speaker 3: play this year.
• 29:15
Speaker 5: I did not really look at the schedule that closed.
• 29:17
Speaker 5: I looked at opening day. We're playing Toronto and then
• 29:20
Speaker 5: we go to Baltimore and open up against at home
• 29:24
Speaker 5: against Boston. Other than that, let's just keep it going.
• 29:27
Speaker 5: And I leave you with the parting thought of.
• 29:32
Speaker 3: Let's go all right, Joe Stevens, we'll see a Sunday
• 29:35
Speaker 3: in Nitro, my friend, we'll talk soon. Buddy thinks a lot.
• 29:38
Speaker 5: Hey, you'd be safe, all right.
• 29:40
Speaker 3: Joe Stevens from the city of Nitro. And again those
• 29:42
Speaker 3: events happening in the city of Nitro, And I said,
• 29:45
Speaker 3: you know, all West Virginia has had more, has lost
• 29:49
Speaker 3: more people per capita than any other state in the nation.
• 29:52
Speaker 3: And we also, I think have the most numbers served
• 29:56
Speaker 3: per capita too. And when West Virginians have to, they
• 30:00
Speaker 3: have answered the call of duty. And so all of
• 30:03
Speaker 3: our cities around the city of West Virginia do a
• 30:05
Speaker 3: great job of reaching out and honoring our veterans. But
• 30:09
Speaker 3: I think Nitro because Nitro is a city, and you've
• 30:11
Speaker 3: heard Joe and I talk about it in there. Nitro
• 30:13
Speaker 3: is a city that was actually born out of the
• 30:15
Speaker 3: war effort, and so I think that they they probably
• 30:18
Speaker 3: go they take it one step further, and I think

• 33:53
Speaker 3: on the main channel. They're going to the gray television
• 33:56
Speaker 3: stations are going to do like nine games. I think,
• 34:00
  Speaker 3: okay for.
• 34:00
Speaker 12: The whole season, so I think the others might be

Speaker 12: on the seat w but at least the opener.

Speaker 3: this is Jeff Jenkins and Jeff and I both both

Speaker 3: rocking the Reds gear today for Opening Day. You know,
• 34:25
Speaker 3: some of my not to be too sappy here, Jeff,
• 34:28
Speaker 3: but some of my greatest memories are of listening to
• 34:31
Speaker 3: the Cincinnati Reds on radio with my grandfather. And I
• 34:34
Speaker 3: may have told this story in your past what I've
• 34:35
Speaker 3: had you on. He loved to go out in the garage,
• 34:39
Speaker 3: turn on the radio on WVW and logan and listen
• 34:42
Speaker 3: to the Now you may have been to get away
• 34:44
Speaker 3: from my grandmother. I'm not sure. I don't know if
• 34:45
Speaker 3: he's that big of a baseball fan or not, but
• 34:47
Speaker 3: to me, listening to the and and you know, the
• 34:52
Speaker 3: guys who do the Reds games now do a fantastic job.
• 34:55
Speaker 3: But I think that when they would admit there was
• 34:56
Speaker 3: only one Marty and Joe, right, yeah, I agree with you.
• 34:58
Speaker 3: And there's just something about those And with Bob Uker
• 35:02
Speaker 3: passing away recently, we're losing that generation of those type
• 35:07
Speaker 3: of and you know Ken Harrelson in Chicago and those
• 35:09
Speaker 3: type of guys that h that you know that we're
• 35:14
Speaker 3: larger than life and just as big a part of
• 35:16
Speaker 3: the team as what the starting pitcher was. And but
• 35:19
Speaker 3: all right, so So the Reds open up against the
• 35:22
Speaker 3: Orioles again. As Jeff said, coverage of this afternoon will
• 35:24
Speaker 3: be on our soitized station. I'm sorry, the Giants a
• 35:27
Speaker 3: focus on Joe Stephenson. They're the Orioles. So we're still
• 35:31
Speaker 3: in first place right now, We're still we're still undefeated,
• 35:33
  Speaker 3: that's right.
• 35:34
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 35:35
Speaker 3: So overall, what do you expect out of the Reds?
• 35:37
Speaker 12: Well, I think, I mean there's optimism because Terry Francone
• 35:40
Speaker 12: is the new manager, right, hall of Fame. He'll be
• 35:43
Speaker 12: a Hall of Fame manager. He's one three World Series.
• 35:46
Speaker 12: He took a year off after managing Cleveland, uh and
• 35:49
Speaker 12: the Reds went and got him, and uh so a
• 35:53
Speaker 12: lot of people are excited about that. Their spring training
• 35:55
Speaker 12: camp was they didn't you know, you just feel if
• 36:00
Speaker 12: you read accounts of it, just with Tito that's what
• 36:03
Speaker 12: his nickname is, Terry Francona. With him being in charge,
• 36:06
Speaker 12: it was just a different kind of a different atmosphere. Now,
• 36:10
Speaker 12: how many wins would that translate too? Well, A lot
• 36:12
Speaker 12: of it's all about pitching. It's a lot about injuries.
• 36:14
Speaker 12: So the Reds have had a few injuries already. The
• 36:19
Speaker 12: closer Alexis Diaz has a hamstring injury. He did not
• 36:23
Speaker 12: do well in spring training, so actually I think they
• 36:25
Speaker 12: just want to give him a little more time to
• 36:27
Speaker 12: get ready. Also, Austin Hayes, one of their off season signings,
• 36:33
Speaker 12: has a little bit of a calf injury suffered right
• 36:38
Speaker 12: at the end of spring training. So he's on the
• 36:40
Speaker 12: DL and they think that he'll be on the DL
• 36:42
Speaker 12: for They're hoping just six days. He'll miss six games,
• 36:45
Speaker 12: ten days, he'll miss six games. Tyler Stevenson, the catcher,
• 36:49
Speaker 12: is on the DL with an oblique injury. But the
• 36:52
Speaker 12: Red signed a fantastic second catcher from the Yankees. That's uh,
• 37:00
Speaker 12: that's gonna that's gonna catch a lot of games anyway.
• 37:03
Speaker 12: And he's a former Gold Glover uh so so that
• 37:06
Speaker 12: I think that'll be pretty He won't hit like Stevenson,
• 37:08
Speaker 12: but that will be more than a just a regular
• 37:11
Speaker 12: backup there for the reds.
• 37:13
  Speaker 13: Uh.
• 37:14
Speaker 12: But it's all about, you know, does Matt McClain stay
• 37:17
Speaker 12: healthy the second basement he was out all of last year?
• 37:19
  Speaker 14: Uh?
• 37:20
  Speaker 12: This L A L A D LA Cruz have just
• 37:22
Speaker 12: a monster year, which I think is very much possible.
• 37:25
Speaker 12: How does uh ce s uh? Christian in Karnasian Strand
• 37:31
Speaker 12: come back after he was injured last year. So there's
• 37:33
Speaker 12: there's question marks obviously, but they have good young pitching.
• 37:38
Speaker 12: And they signed Brady Singer from the from Kansas City,
• 37:41
Speaker 12: which is a innings Eeter type of pitcher and a
• 37:44
Speaker 12: well established pitcher. He'll be one of the starters. Very pleased. Actually,
• 37:49
Speaker 12: the two guys who are on the caravan here Blake Dunn,
• 37:52
Speaker 12: an outfielder, and Carson Spyers, a pitcher who we were
• 37:56
Speaker 12: teasing about going to the outdoor Show.
• 37:58
Speaker 3: He was a character, he really was.
• 38:00
Speaker 12: They both made the team. So Done made the team
• 38:03
Speaker 12: as the as the fifth outfielder, and really Terry Francona
• 38:06
Speaker 12: said yesterday that he forced his way onto the team
• 38:08
Speaker 12: in a good way. He had such a good has
• 38:11
Speaker 12: such a good spring, so so so Done made the team.
• 38:14
Speaker 12: And also Spiders is the fifth starting pitcher in the
• 38:16
Speaker 12: current rotation. Now he might change from that because Andrew
• 38:19
Speaker 12: Abbott's injured and should be back pretty quickly, but we'll see.
• 38:23
Speaker 12: But congratulations of those guys. But it's opening day and
• 38:25
Speaker 12: I talked actually to the person who won the opening
• 38:30
Speaker 12: day tickets at the caravan. Remember the Reds were given away.
• 38:32
Speaker 12: So they talked to him day before yesterday. He's raring
• 38:36
Speaker 12: to go, ready, fired up, on his way to Cincinnati.
• 38:39
Speaker 3: Well, you know, it's kind of interesting because if there's
• 38:42
Speaker 3: any bigger Reds fan in this building than what you are,
• 38:44
Speaker 3: it's probably Brian Bradley. And Brian Bradley does a little
• 38:46
Speaker 3: bit of everything around here. And and I ran in
• 38:49
Speaker 3: to Wolfe as we called him, in the parking lot
• 38:50
Speaker 3: yesterday and I asked him if he was gonna we
• 38:53
Speaker 3: have some several live events this weekend with the stations.
• 38:55
Speaker 3: Asked me if he's gonna be going out there. He
• 38:56
Speaker 3: just sugar said and said, no, I'll be in Cincinnati.
• 39:00
Speaker 3: He's going up of this weekend for the weekend series.
• 39:02
Speaker 3: We had a text here we were talking about the announcers.
• 39:04
Speaker 3: Somebody said, don't forget Harry Carey. Yeah, sure, Harry Carey.
• 39:08
Speaker 3: What a character he was just just so many Phil
• 39:11
Speaker 3: Rozzuto and so many of those guys, all right, And
• 39:13
Speaker 3: you know we've I've been a part of the Reds
• 39:15
Speaker 3: caravan at this station, and when I was in Logan
• 39:18
Speaker 3: and they brought it down there and the only and
• 39:22
Speaker 3: I mean they brought in when I was there. Dusty
• 39:25
Speaker 3: Baker came one year, Eric Davis, the same ones that
• 39:27
Speaker 3: came here one you're the only the only member of
• 39:30
Speaker 3: the caravan I ever specifically asked to have my picture with.
• 39:34
Speaker 3: Now there are pictures with me with Dusty and with
• 39:36
Speaker 3: Eric and whatever. The only one I ever said, Jeff,
• 39:39
Speaker 3: I got to get a picture with was Marty Brenneman.
• 39:41
Speaker 3: That's the one, that's the one I want. He was
• 39:43
Speaker 3: as nice as he could possibly be, interested in radios,
• 39:46
Speaker 3: asking me all about the radio station. Just I miss Marty.
• 39:50
Speaker 3: But he's still around. They're doing a statue for I know.
• 39:53
  Speaker 15: I saw that.
• 39:53
Speaker 12: It's going to be unveiled in September, so he'll he'll
• 39:57
Speaker 12: have an announcer statue outside there with the other statues.
• 40:00
Speaker 12: Are Yeah, that outside Great American Ballpark.
• 40:03
  Speaker 3: That's good stuff.
• 40:04
  Speaker 15: All right.
• 40:04
Speaker 3: I appreciate you being here. You've been a Reds fan,
• 40:07
Speaker 3: I'm pretty I'm presuming all your life I have been. Yes, Yeah,
• 40:11
Speaker 3: family members also Reds fans. Not really, No, my dad
• 40:14
Speaker 3: was a Yankees fan, uh huh. And he grew up
• 40:16
Speaker 3: here in Kanak County. But he was a Yankees fan,
• 40:19
Speaker 3: and you know, listening to him on the radio when
• 40:22
Speaker 3: he was growing up, and so he was, Yeah, he
• 40:24
Speaker 3: was a Yankees fan.
• 40:25
  Speaker 12: My brother's a Reds fan. My brother's a Reds fan.
• 40:27
Speaker 12: So we're both Reds fans. And one of my sons,
• 40:31
Speaker 12: my older son's a Red fam my middle sons of
• 40:33
  Speaker 12: Pirates family.
• 40:34
  Speaker 14: Yes.
• 40:34
Speaker 12: Oh, my youngest son's a Mets fan.
• 40:36
Speaker 3: So so Thanksgiving, you don't talk about baseball with the
• 40:39
Speaker 3: red And I think that's interesting. And I'll let you go, Jeff,
• 40:42
  Speaker 3: because I know you're busy, but I think that's interesting
• 40:44
Speaker 3: in the state of West Virginia because southern West Virginia
• 40:47
Speaker 3: when I was growing up, everybody pretty much was Reds fans.
• 40:50
Speaker 3: But then you go north, a lot of Pirates fans north.
• 40:53
Speaker 3: But then you go east and you got a lot
• 40:56
Speaker 3: of O's fans out in the Panhandle. A lot of
• 40:58
Speaker 3: Cleveland fans here, had a few in the building. And
• 41:01
Speaker 3: then there's some that are the fans of those that
• 41:03
Speaker 3: always pop, you know, the Yankees or the Dodgers or
• 41:06
  Speaker 3: not of race.
• 41:07
  Speaker 15: Lot of Braves.
• 41:07
Speaker 12: Fans because you could see him on TV. It's the
• 41:10
Speaker 12: only team you could see on TV.
• 41:11
Speaker 3: They were pretty bad in those years too. I mean
• 41:13
Speaker 3: I watched when you know Horner and Claudell Washington and
• 41:15
Speaker 3: all the early they got a lot better that they
• 41:18
Speaker 3: got better, but they weren't so good that And I
• 41:21
Speaker 3: actually been Butler. Yeah, I actually married into a White
• 41:26
Speaker 3: Sox family because my wife's family's from Chicago. And if
• 41:29
Speaker 3: there's anything worse than being a Cowboys fan the last
• 41:31
Speaker 3: couple of years, it may have been being a Chicago
• 41:33
Speaker 3: White Sox fan. All Right, Jeff, I appreciate you man.

Speaker 3: salang Goo Law. Coming up noon till three today here
• 45:27
Speaker 3: on WCCHS and Metro News stations across the States, and
• 45:31
Speaker 3: on this show tomorrow. It's Friday, meaning we'll have a
• 45:35
Speaker 3: visit from Angie Gillenwater from the i Canawha Charleston Human
• 45:38
Speaker 3: Association with this week's Adopt Me Please, pat of the week,
• 45:41
Speaker 3: Doctor Casey Sackvillebridge Valley's on the show, and Jill Garin
• 45:44
Speaker 3: from The Dirty Birds coming up on tomorrow's show as well.
• 45:49
Speaker 3: I want to share this and it is just a
• 45:52
Speaker 3: bit of good news, and you may recall a couple
• 45:57
Speaker 3: of weeks ago I had on the show filmmaker Calvin
• 46:00
Speaker 3: Grim of the Lost Valley Studios, who's working and has
• 46:03
Speaker 3: been for some time on a big project called Bring
• 46:07
Speaker 3: Them Home, and it is about the seventeen Vietnam War
• 46:12
Speaker 3: veterans that are still mia in that part of the world.
• 46:17
Speaker 3: And he's also been running may have if you listen
• 46:19
Speaker 3: to the station a lot, you may have heard the
• 46:20
Speaker 3: ads that his company purchased that have been running on
• 46:24
Speaker 3: the station here as well. I am happy to reports
• 46:29
Speaker 3: that Calvin was able to make contact with the sister
• 46:36
Speaker 3: in law of one of those missing, Sergeant Jimmy Taylor,
• 46:41
Speaker 3: who was from Nitro. Apparently the brother of Jimmy is
• 46:46
Speaker 3: alive and is living in Indiana, but it was the
• 46:50
Speaker 3: sister that I guess connected with Calvin, and Calvin is
• 46:55
Speaker 3: going to be heading out to Indiana next week to
• 47:00
Speaker 3: talk to the family and get their story. Now, if
• 47:02
Speaker 3: you don't recall that from a couple of weeks ago,
• 47:04
Speaker 3: they put together this film and as I said, it
• 47:06
Speaker 3: was about the seventeen West Virginia veterans of the Vietnam
• 47:10
Speaker 3: War that there were mia and they're just trying to
• 47:14
Speaker 3: get a little closure for some of the families and
• 47:17
Speaker 3: trying to get in touch with these families and the
• 47:22
Speaker 3: power of radio. When we had Calvin on a couple
• 47:25
Speaker 3: of weeks ago, I don't know exactly how it happened,
• 47:29
Speaker 3: but either through the interview that I did with Calvin
• 47:32
Speaker 3: or the ads he was running, somehow word got to
• 47:36
Speaker 3: Indiana that the fan there were family members of Jimmy
• 47:42
Speaker 3: Taylor of Nitro. That's pretty good stuff right there. Now,
• 47:46
Speaker 3: we're working to get Calvin on the show tomorrow. That's
• 47:51
Speaker 3: the plan. I don't know. He is very very busy,
• 47:55
Speaker 3: and as I said, because of this station, he is
• 47:58
Speaker 3: now going to head out to the Indiana early next week,
• 48:01
Speaker 3: so hopefully we can get Calvin on the We're kind
• 48:03
Speaker 3: of booked solid tomorrow, but I'm going to make room
• 48:05
Speaker 3: for Calvin to come on to talk about that. And
• 48:07
Speaker 3: also I want to say I do appreciate the nice
• 48:09
Speaker 3: phone call that I got from Charlie Capito. He's the
• 48:12
Speaker 3: husband of Shelley Moore Capito. When he called me, he said,
• 48:15
Speaker 3: I'm the one that's not on the ballot. He had
• 48:17
Speaker 3: actually heard about the interview with Calvin Grimm, and mister
• 48:23
Speaker 3: Capita in turn turned me onto another project that's very
• 48:26
Speaker 3: similar to this on a nationwide level. So I'm going
• 48:28
Speaker 3: to try to get into that at another time. We'll
• 48:30
Speaker 3: check in with the boys in the Capitol momentarily. Let
• 48:32
Speaker 3: me knock out a couple of texts here before we
• 48:35
Speaker 3: go to them. Texas, Dave, when will Danny Jones be
• 48:37
Speaker 3: back on the show. He's a man of common sense
• 48:40
Speaker 3: and a historian of many events. Thanks. I actually exchanged
• 48:42
Speaker 3: some text with Danny yesterday. Danny is always welcome on
• 48:46
Speaker 3: this show anytime he wants to come on. He is
• 48:48
Speaker 3: more than welcome, Texas. To people who need the synchronized
• 48:53
Speaker 3: conservative anger media also known as scam contuned into Fox
• 48:56

• 48:59
Speaker 3: like Clay and Buck or Dan Bongino say anything different
• 49:02
Speaker 3: than the mothership Box needed says a text. Let's go
• 49:06
Speaker 3: to the Capitol and check in with the boys. Meadows
• 49:09
Speaker 3: and Wilson, how you doing guys.
• 49:12
Speaker 15: What's up, Dave Allen?
• 49:13
Speaker 3: I thought maybe because we didn't hear from you yesterday,
• 49:15
Speaker 3: and I always explained to the listeners that you guys
• 49:18
Speaker 3: are running around like crazy trying to get everything connected
• 49:21
Speaker 3: and get ready to go on the airline from the
• 49:22
Speaker 3: Capitol Tuesday through Thursday. I thought I didn't hear from
• 49:25
Speaker 3: you yesterday. Maybe you were upset because I referred to
• 49:28
Speaker 3: you guys as the Lenny and Squiggy of Metro News.
• 49:32
Speaker 3: Did that upset you in anyway?
• 49:34
Speaker 15: No, that doesn't upset me at all.
• 49:37
Speaker 3: I was gonna say, I thought you were gonna pull
• 49:39
Speaker 3: an age thing on me and Wilson and say you
• 49:41
Speaker 3: didn't know who I was talking about. You know who
• 49:43
Speaker 3: Lenny and Squiggy are, right, Sure? Sure, I'm not that young,
• 49:47
Speaker 3: all right, all right?
• 49:49
Speaker 18: And what do you think I am a MILLENNIU? I
• 49:51
  Speaker 18: guess technically I am a millennial. I don't claim him.
• 49:54
Speaker 3: Well, they don't claim you either, So there's that.
• 49:56
  Speaker 13: Uh.
• 49:56
Speaker 3: And what I referred to them is that somebody sent
• 49:58
Speaker 3: a text to the show and said they're more like
• 50:01
Speaker 3: Beavis and butt Head. So I mean I didn't say
• 50:03
Speaker 3: that they did. They did well again, which was which Yeah,
• 50:08
Speaker 3: all right, what are you guys looking at today?
• 50:11
Speaker 18: What are we looking at today? That's a good question.
• 50:13
Speaker 18: Eric tar will drop by. He is the Senator from
• 50:15
Speaker 18: Putnam County. You know him well, knowing well, yep, he's
• 50:18
Speaker 18: gonna drop by. We'll talk about don't call it teacher
• 50:21
Speaker 18: at locality pay, but it is basically a teacher locality
• 50:24
Speaker 18: pay bill. Also Mike Stewart's bill, and Eric is on
• 50:27
Speaker 18: the Senate Judiciary Committee. Mike Stewart's bill to direct a
• 50:32
Speaker 18: study of the child welfare system.
• 50:34
Speaker 15: Did not get out of committee yesterday.
• 50:36
Speaker 18: Eric was on that committee and raised some concerns about that,
• 50:39
Speaker 18: and I want to ask him about Patrick Morrissey, Governor
• 50:42
Speaker 18: Morrissey's political miscalculation with the legislature. So we'll get into
• 50:47
Speaker 18: all of that with him later. Brad Howe will drop by.
• 50:50
Speaker 18: We'll talk about the new basketball coach, w and Hoppy
• 50:53
Speaker 18: we'll call in later today as well.
• 50:56
Speaker 15: So there's the short list of what's to come here
• 50:58
Speaker 15: on Metro News talk Line.
• 51:00
Speaker 3: He dropped a commentary today too.
• 51:02
Speaker 18: Yeah, he got into the political miscalculation by Governor Morrissey
• 51:07
Speaker 18: that that seems to be the consensus around here, and
• 51:11
Speaker 18: you know, and you know, Dave, you've been around long enough.
• 51:13
Speaker 18: It takes a while, whether you're doing a new radio
• 51:16
Speaker 18: show or you're doing You're the Governor, to find your footing,
• 51:19
Speaker 18: find your rhythm, find the you know what works for
• 51:22
Speaker 18: you and it so far, this particular approach does not
• 51:26
Speaker 18: seem to be landing with well the House especially, but
• 51:30
Speaker 18: also members over on the Senate side.
• 51:32
Speaker 15: So we'll get into all of that as the show unfolds.
