- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: All right, everybody, like I said in the intro, I've got Persevalgana, the third with me today.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: Persevalgana, former Cleveland Indians pitcher and very good friend of mine.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: We've known each other since we were three feet tall.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, it's gonna allow.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: playing little league baseball together, growing up that way, and then obviously playing baseball in high school and football and everything.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: It was a ton of fun.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: You've been on the show before, but years ago, so we've obviously got a lot of new listeners, so just wanted to get you back on here, and we're going to talk a lot today about AFC North football, because if you guys know Percy, he is, he loves Cleveland Sports fan.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, got the pitch
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: But he likes the Freak and Steelers.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: Dude.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we'll see what kind of crap people give me in the comments for having a stealers fan on here, but no, that's all good.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: We love going back and forth about Brown Steelers and everything, and Percy does have some thoughts and opinions on the Brown to not like he hates the Brown.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_02]: So for sure.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: For sure.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: Well, put it.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: And you're just a cool dude to talk to.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: So I want to get you on the show here over the summer break.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: I know training camp starting here this weekend in the next couple of weeks.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: Have Steelers reported yet, do you know?
- 4:13[SPEAKER_02]: You don't know, I know they just cut down the roster.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_03]: It's all like, oh, no, you know, what are we doing here?
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: So, I'm excited, sort of, and then we're going to get into some things and Tomlin, I'll be in there and Roger still be in there.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: But at the end of the day, you know, I'm going to stew his fan, I'm going to be a stew his fan.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: There's nothing that's going to change that.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: But I will say I'm scared.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what's going to happen.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, we'll get into all of that stuff because hey, man, welcome to Brown's fandom.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's us every freaking season.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: We're like, hey, this could be the year.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: We're screwed, crapless, man.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: We have no idea how this is going to go.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: But so we'll talk about the ABC North here.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about just kind of the NFL in general.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: I miss the days when I just live to couple houses down the street for me and we just go down to the basement and watch a Thursday night football game and those were good times man, but can't do it anymore.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: Kind of live a little further away.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you left me.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's all good.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: I bailed.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: Said I'm out of here.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: But not I'm sure you're happy with your decision.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, uh, yeah, no regrets, but I also, at the end of the show, so if anybody's interested, I got my Indians shirt on today, obviously, in honor of Percy being here and I want him to just go through what it was like getting drafted and making your way through the miners to the Indians organization that I really want you to talk about the day you got called up.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: Because okay, it's a cool story and I just like you to share it for the, for the audience, but we'll do that here at the end.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: First,
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: I want your thoughts on your Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: We'll just start there in the AFC North Steelers heading into 2026.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: Aaron Rodgers is back.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: Hall of Fame quartered back.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: You guys should be good to go for a Super Bowl run with Mike McCarthy.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: How do you feel, how do you feel on about the team this year?
- 6:06[SPEAKER_02]: Um, to be honest.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's nothing changed.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: I had a win-in to any season thinking, hey, we're gonna win the Super Bowl probably the last 15 years.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't think, and, you know, every year, we're gonna, you know, we're gonna have a winning record and get a terrible draft pick and do the same thing next year.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just hoping this year, I'm hoping this year.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little different.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's gonna be some excitement just cause, you know, new coach at the helm.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: What?
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: This is the third coach that the Steelers had in my lifetime.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_02]: So crazy man.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: I know I know I know I know the Browns are in the same boat with that, but we've had three since I turned 30, man.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: All right, I'm going to throw the jabs because like you said, I don't hate the Browns.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: I just and if we get into it, I can give a quick reason on why I like the Steelers too, but But no, I'm I'm excited just because
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: for me and it's going to be hard not to go back to Mike Tomlin and what he's meant to the organization.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: And this move even just to me it shows, you know, he's the ultimate winner.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: He's the ultimate, you know, just competitor.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_02]: And he's like, look, these guys and he's a new leader.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna get out of here.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: Take a few years off, you know, he'll come back and coach the Browns and then they'll win a Super Bowl or something.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: speak it into existence, but I'm excited for the season.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_02]: Not too excited about Aaron Rogers.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously he's got experience and stuff, but I'm just bored of not having an exciting quarterback.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, you know, just, and I ain't gonna lie.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: I was excited when we had fields, didn't pan out.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: But it's just, I want some excitement going into a steward season.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if you saw, you know, Ben Roth is burgers like, hey, you know, let's get Mason, we're off out of there.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_02]: I did see that, he said it on his podcast, they got two new young guys, and he also, he tried to throw this thing in there, just to make a scene like he went, hey, don't make a route, but he's like, you know, he's going to be the best trade bait as well.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: They're not going to get anything else for the young guys.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see, we'll see, but I just, when someone gets hurt, we got the amazing route in there.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, as a professional athlete, I don't like to disrespect other athletes,
- 8:30[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you make an exception for Mason Rudolf right, yes, yes, but um, but no, I'm I'm hoping for a great season.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: I know I really don't know much about how Mike McCarthy coaches.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't pay attention to him when he was the Cowboys, you know, we'll see if this reunion means anything or they can bring some old magic bags.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll see.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I know obviously that's what they're hoping for.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Aaron Rogers is not the Aaron Rogers of, you know, age 30 or 34 or whatever.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's what 40 41 something.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's yeah, it's it's the end.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's the end of the line.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: So, okay, so for for your young guys, though, if
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: If you had to pick one to watch, I don't know, try to get excited about was it the former buck eye.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: I know a lot of buck eye fans out there like Wilhauer, the wish of the Browns were to take in Wilhauer.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of Cleveland fans wanted Drowler because he's from the area, mentor, I think, right?
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't know, do you have any high hopes or optimism about either of those guys?
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, for me, Wilhauer,
- 9:41[SPEAKER_02]: He's like the prototypical Ohio State quarterback, not that we've seen lately, but, you know, when they won a national championship early 2000s, just a hard nose dude is going to try to get the job done.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's not going to be, you know, a CJ Stroud dropping back throwing for 400 yards, but I trust him that he's going to make the right decisions.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: So obviously, that's not exciting.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_02]: But I would say, we'll say, with Drew, I just didn't get to watch a lot of him.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, I watch a lot of will.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: I wanna see him play.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying I want Aaron Rogers to get hurt or anything.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying, I wanna see him get an opportunity to show that.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: I really don't think that's gonna happen, but I am excited for him.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: I will say that.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: So the entire time that Mike Talon was your coach, which was at 19 years, I get him and Harball mixed up on the years.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: Or was it a full 20?
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was an 19.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well either way, for almost two decades, you guys didn't have a losing season.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: So, and I feel like there were years where he just pulled people to that winning record by the skin of their, you know what's.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: what happens this year if they have their first losing season in all that time with the new heck coach and everything.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_02]: I say get it out of the way.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_02]: Let's get one out of the way.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: Get that draft pick, right?
- 11:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so we need, you know, I mean, we've had some good draft picks and we love Ohio State players.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: So, um, but for me,
- 11:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not, I don't, I don't, I'm not, obviously I'm not speaking for every Pittsburgh fan, but like I, you know, talked about earlier.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_02]: I just, I'd rather get a good draft pick than be a middle of the real team.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_02]: But if we're in the dolefight and we turn into a team where I'm like, oh, we might, we might have a little some, you know, I can get in, I can get behind that, but I just, I, I struggle to see that.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_02]: But again, the stealers aren't going well, Percy doubts us, so the season's over.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think, uh, it's going to be for exciting.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be exciting football just because we don't know.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: We don't know what's going to happen.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: Aaron Rogers is old as dirt, and there's some times where he looked like, oh, he might have a Tom Verdi career where he goes and then a couple plays later, you're like, okay, he's, he needs to be in the nursing home.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's just you don't know and I know there's a lot of factors to go into it.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_02]: So, um, so hopefully they can protect them well so you can get back there and, you know, do other than a two three step drop and throw five of your pass.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully we can get some plays down to you.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I feel like the Steelers defense is always good.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know, whether it's like top of the league, it's never worse than like middle.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's probably there.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_02]: I got some taken effort granted.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even mention the defense.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: I just, it means so, well, because the offense drives so much in the NFL.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I look at the Browns.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: They had a lead top, you know, top, whatever, five, six, seven defense depending on what metric you're looking at last year.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: It matter one, five games.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: Because you didn't have an offense.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: So if you don't have an offense to support that good defense, you're still only going to be hovering around 500 at best.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and now you got rid of your best players, so well, we did.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: But I like Jared verse.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think everyone who watches this show knows like I'm pumped.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: I am pumped to see Jared verse play for the Browns, but you know, as far as the sealer's goes, we'll wrap that one up, but.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I feel like when you guys have been really good in years past, you've had like a strong running game with a no doubt RB1 type player.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: Don't have that right now.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: Your receiver core is typically two to three really good options deep.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: And then this year, I mean DK Metcalf's a great receiver.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: I like Michael Pittman.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, but it's not like we normally see and it's just a different, I don't know, it's not what I'm used to with Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it's, so I feel like Aaron Rogers and DK had a, they had some good times they had some bad times, but I feel like with a year into their belt, you know, there should be because DK still, you know, he's not, even though he's,
- 14:06[SPEAKER_02]: He's candy every day and doesn't really treat his body like he's supposed to.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_02]: I still feel like he's got a few years left in this prime and hopefully we take advantage of that because we really don't have a lot of weapons again to be excited about.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_02]: I know I was hit or missed with Pickens but he just know he was gonna at least make a play.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_02]: He might do something crazy but he's gonna make some plays where you're just like how in the heck did he catch that?
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and DK, you know, raw strength and he can get open, um, and he can also obviously fast as well.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: So we can get some plays down field.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: So I would say, if, if we can, you know, I know we made some changes on the line.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_02]: If we can just make sure we give air, rather some time, you know, there may be some, the some magic in the McCarthy Rogers connection and, um, hopefully we don't have to rely on our defense.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's not really fun as a fan to watch, unless TJ was getting strips, strips acts.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: Because we're like, oh, we just went another four and out.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_02]: Hope TJ gets a strip.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I can run it, hopefully that still goes on, but other than that, it's just, obviously I can't compare it to being a Browns fan, but it's just, it's just, it's just, it's
- 15:30[SPEAKER_02]: I want to be on a Sunday like, you know, I got little Steelers candle that I like, you know, hopefully get a victory, no voodoo, no voodoo stuff like that.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's just a nice little Steelers candle.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: Tradition.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: Tradition.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yes.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, we're going to have the basement finished, so I'm excited to, you know, we're actually going to have a real project of screen down there.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm excited for the season.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_02]: So if the Steelers offense can't get me excited, at least my new basement, we'll get excited.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: your environment will do the trick.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: So the Browns get to host the Steelers.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: There's an A football week four.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's the only prime time game we've got all year.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: But the Steelers haven't...
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: I should have looked this up.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: I usually know this.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's been three or four years now.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: Steelers have not beaten the Browns in Cleveland.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: We're split in the series every year.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: So I hope that trend continues.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously you don't, but...
- 16:23[SPEAKER_01]: We'll find out early in the season at least, and then we don't see each other again until, well, I guess actually it's pretty quick.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: Week, what is that?
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: By six, seven, eight.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, yeah, that is quick succession.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_02]: I will say those games are exciting.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, James is in the snow like that was fun.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: Even though I was like, okay, James, even though people compare me to James all the time, they're like, you're silly.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_02]: And you like to have fun, and obviously he was a pitcher and a quarterback as well.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't like losing, but I will say those are those were some fun games.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I missed the opportunity two years ago to go to it, but it was just so late.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_02]: Those Thursdays and I games, Amazon, like 815, like I can't do that.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_02]: Well, but no, at the end of the day,
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: You know, obviously, I would love to get back to the old ways of just beating the Browns every time we face him pretty much, but I don't know if it was, you know, the dogs you guys who posted the record of Cleveland versus Pittsburgh sports, I think, I think it was.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if it was your not that I wasn't.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: was a dude baseball and football is not has been great is not been great overall not just home in Cleveland just overall so yeah so we totally changed that I forget who who posted as it like the pirates and everything yeah
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I guess, okay, so obviously we'll talk some browns and we'll talk should or Sanders because not not at this minute in a moment, but just to lead to that, you talked about being excited or wanting to be excited about your quarterback and Aaron Rogers, obviously you know the ant, this is it.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is the last ride.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: So where do we go from here?
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: Lisa's Browns fans, we've got one guy on the roster.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, well, maybe, maybe.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: So it's exciting.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what he can do.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: But before we talk about that,
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: Who do you think is the best quarterback in the division between Joe Burro and Lamar Jackson?
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: This episode is sponsored by Kaoshi.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Browns Vand, you know, we've all messed around with the sports books before, right?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: And let's be honest, you're always kind of playing against the house.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: But with Kaoshi, it's different.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: You're not betting against some sports book.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: You're trading against other real-world people.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: There's no house trying to beat you Kaoshi just runs the marketplace.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: So if you think the public is wrong and the Browns can make the playoffs in Todd Munkins first year, or Casey Concepción, Denzel Boston, one of those guys can win offensive rookie of the year, you can take the other side of the market and then if you're right, that's a big payout for you.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not just sports either, you can trade on other real-world stuff, interest rates, inflation, even wild weather outcomes.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: It works like this, simple yes or no markets, your risk is capped up front and your payout is locked in.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: So, if you trust your takes and instincts, and I know you guys do, go check out Cowcheon's see what markets are live right now.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: So use our link in the description or just head over to Cowcheon.com slash dogs, KAL, SHI.com slash dogs, DAWGS, and you'll get $10 when you sign up and trade $100 on Cowcheon, because why shouldn't you guys get paid for being right?
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: I was one to you, which one makes you the most nervous whenever the Steelers have to face them?
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: I'll say Lamar, I know Joe Burro's a great quarterback and it's not him passing me on the house all time high school passing list that I'm holding the kind of grudge.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: But it's just, it's just that Lamar is someone that I would be able to get excited about and you just don't know, you have to account for him running and you know, Burro, even
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: Burrow really just hasn't been available for his team, so it's not really
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: And he's not really scary that way.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: He's scary in the fact that O'Crab he's playing.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: We, our defense better be on their toes, but with Lamar, you just never know he could pull off some of these crazy plays where you might look like you got everything stopped and then he could either run for a 40 or a touchdown or you could just be afraid of him running and then he tosses over your head.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_02]: So the backyard plays is what's scary because
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: Our defense is usually locked down on, you know, typical scenarios, but Amar is just a scary player.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I know the knock against him is playoffs, but I think I so I faith that if I was a Ravens fan, I wouldn't be waitering, but that's easy for me to say because I don't have a quarterback for the Steelers like my Margexons.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: We want them.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: If you don't want them Baltimore, we'll take them.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's funny because you know, we have these quarterback debates all the time.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I think a lot of people, whether I mean, I want to say like average fans, but I mean, it's like the media to they act like every team should have an elite quarterback.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: If every team had an elite quarterback, there'd be no elite quarterbacks.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: There really are truly only like four or five special quarterbacks in the league.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think Lamar Jackson is one of them.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: Other than that, you really need to like, you've got to build your team around a guy who can win ball games.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can win ball games with that quarterback.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: You've got a good defense.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: You've got a good run game and all these pieces.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's like Sam Darnold.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's not an elite quarterback.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: They want a Super Bowl with him.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: They had a very good team.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: They were well coached and everything.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, whenever it comes to in years past, the Brown's having like a high level defense,
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: But facing Joe Burrow, facing Lamar Jackson, I was always more confident that we would shut down Joe Burrow.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, then then Lamar Jackson and why like a why is that for near standpoint?
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: Why is that?
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: Well because I think because Joe Burrow doesn't have that threat with his legs.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, you the way the past Rush was getting at Joe Burrow his time to throw on me.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: He basically catch the snap and chuck it.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, outs out why just please, God, somebody make a play.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was like, man, I'm asking you all do that masculine game all my
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: That's basically what it was.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_02]: I was just like, you know, Blake, if you're hearing this, you guys did a good job trying to protect for me.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just, you know, I was scared, though.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_02]: I wasn't taking any chances.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: But I feel like that's what teams were like facing, you know, but now I can't imagine the Rams.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's why I decided I'm just gonna play baseball because
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: I saw Larry English and, you know, those dudes, you don't, you just don't want to face that.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm little.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Tom Brady is throwing around like a rag doll and he's 65 to 40, you know, and at the time in college, I'm 6263, like 210, like, and I'm not fast.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: So this is not, no, you were definitely not fast.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: No, this is not, this is not a good combination.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_02]: So I was like, yeah, baseball is it for me.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, so.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of funny talking about the size, and then you see like, you know, five, ten bright young and it's like, dude.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: Poor guy.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's got courage.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's better than me.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: For sure.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: Or sure.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I just, you know, Lamar just has that threat, and like you said, it's his escape ability.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: Because when you're closing in on Joe Burrow, I don't.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't fear like he's going to wow his way out of a sack.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're gonna get him.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: If you get to him, you got him.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: If you get to Lamar, he can get himself out of anything at any time, and it's just, until he's actually on the ground in the whistle's blown, I never feel safe.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, I echo the same thing.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: I will say it's never fun when it's like, oh, it's Raven's game, sweet.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it's always like I'm like oh cool we got the bangles this week.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_02]: So I would agree.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: I've we're on the same page here.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess as far as the AFC North finishing this year, who do you think comes out on top?
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, who's going to finish last?
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: I know you have to say.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: Have the have the have the have the bangles fired their Cocha or no dude.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't even mention that.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: Three fours of the division brand new coaching staffs.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: head coaches and the only one that didn't get fire was that Taylor.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: We said that when it happened we're like, how the exact Taylor is the only one left.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I I'm assuming everyone would think that Tom will still be here and Taylor would be gone.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: But.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: that that's not what happened.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_03]: But I mean, I didn't even think hardball would be.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's good.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_02]: So it's it's it's it's it's been turned on its head, but unit that's the I feel like the only exciting thing is like we got and I think that's why Tom and did it.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's just we got new leadership.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_02]: You just never know what's gonna look like which is kind of like, okay, this is new and exciting.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see what it's about.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_02]: So, but that's in
- 25:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, Brown's finishing last, I don't know.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_02]: This is where, is it my love for Steelers or am I just so intrigued with Shadore?
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: Because, like, I was kind of conflicted in that game.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like, don't sack him, Browns, don't pick him off.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_02]: Just, just, our, our Steelers.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_02]: Don't pick him off, don't sack him.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: But just prevent him from scoring, you know?
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: Or just score more than he does.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: But while we,
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: How often does that happen?
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: We have some big scoring games last year, but no, I'm just, I'm excited about Shadour, but obviously I want the students to win at the end.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: So, but I'm impressed.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't get how some people, they just either they don't like them.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how you can watch.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I know he has those plays where he looks like he's trying to play Madden in Scramble around like he's Michael Vick and he loses like 30 yards, but other than that,
- 26:16[SPEAKER_02]: He's he's a solid quarterback in my eyes, but sorry if I'm jumping ahead.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going for let's go into that conversation because I mean obviously You played quarterback great high school quarterback How many years we have all state?
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I was a ball say for three played football for two and baseball for two one year I played both
- 26:35[SPEAKER_02]: and then you make the switch.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, you've got the experience of playing quarterback, at least at the collegiate level for a little bit.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: And what it takes to prepare and all that kind of stuff.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: So you can speak to that.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, I feel like Shador's getting drug through the mud a little bit right now.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: And it's from some of our own Cleveland media.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: Just like Anthony Lyme is one of them.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: He keeps talking about how he should be preparing for football, 24, 7.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: He shouldn't have time for photo shoots or do a music or whatever.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like,
- 27:05[SPEAKER_02]: all these every tell talk to the people here do professional athletes have other hobbies then they're sport no no no I mean I can sometimes it can be a distraction you know if you're staying up late playing video games or gambling or whatever it would be sure yeah there's some other stuff people can be doing but for me
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, as an athlete, we are people who like other things of it in the sport, especially when it does get to a position where you kind of, it's no longer like, hey, I'm playing for the competition and just being a competitor and want to, you know, see who's best on this play, and then becomes a job, it becomes, hey,
- 27:51[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm getting scrutinized for this.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_02]: They're dragging me through the mud.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not just to do with sports.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: I never had to deal with that, thank God.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I wasn't as great of an athlete where the media was just focused in on me.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_02]: But I can't imagine, but I do today people.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, think about this.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: You go to work.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: Imagine if you were expected not to do anything else.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_02]: But just it's a good point.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_02]: Go to work, go home and eat, go to sleep.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_02]: There's nothing else you can do.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_02]: You can't, you can't like pool.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_02]: You can't like any other hobbies out there.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: Nah, yeah, you just whatever your job is, that's what you're doing.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: And so, and when you think about it like that, and I'm sure there's counter arguments, but when you think about it like that,
- 28:37[SPEAKER_02]: where people to we like to do things and but priority is football.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think LeBron was famous for always saying keep in the main thing the main thing and there's been people who don't and it will expose itself but when you see E Shador interacting with his teammates I just saw that clip he had
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: Where they were just keeping a real with each other, the receiver was like, look, you've got to do what you got to do to get in your zone.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: Don't worry about what it looks like to everybody else.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, that is the truth though.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: And it was just nice to see that.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_02]: And it seems like the players were specced or so obviously he's working.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_02]: If he wasn't working and focusing on football, I don't think he would get so much respect from his teammates and it's clear that he does.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_02]: those people just trying to figure out ways to tear somebody down.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: Did you watch his podcast interview on Apple Music?
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: I did not.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I just watched the other day because people were talking about, I'm like, well, I should at least watch this if I'm going to comment on it.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I watched it and something, he said exactly what he just said.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like, she was asking him about his music and stuff and then football and he was like, the music's just a hobby.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, you know, some people play video games in their spare time.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: I like to work on music.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: And he said,
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that is the top priority.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: Don't get it twisted.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm fully invested in this.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm excited to see what he looks like in year two, because there's people that say, oh, he was the worst quarterback I've ever seen.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm like,
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: Dylan Gabriel just started six games before he did and you think he was going then like ridiculous just for the sake of it, but I thought he progressed in different areas each week, you know, you talked about running backward and taking big sacks like in that preseason game against the Rams on if you watch that one at all, but
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: He, I'm trying to think if I was at that, I went to one of the preseason games and I was just like, he looked off.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I have no problem saying it and anybody who argues with that, come on, be real, he looked like garbage.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_01]: He looked like he didn't know what he was doing.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_01]: He looked overmatched overwhelmed and it looked like, honestly, he kind of gave up on just like the screw it.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: This isn't working and I question a couple things about him in that game.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: or after that game.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then whenever he came out against the Ravens again, just looked totally overmatched unprepared.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: But yet, then he made a couple throws.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: And he was like, oh, okay.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's see what he does next week against the Raiders.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: Then he comes out against Raiders like, oh damn.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he can play this.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: He can play quarterback.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: And each week, you know, like he cut down on taking big sacks and losing yards.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: And he would throw the ball away.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: And he made some bad decisions on some throws.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: He also got screwed over by his receivers on quite a few throws.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_02]: So, I don't know, it's talking about a catcher to the ball and just, you go, it's all in around and then given it to the other team, that was great.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was fantastic, Jerry.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, thanks a lot, man.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_02]: But I mean, to me, it was this rookie year.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: He was a fifth round draft pick.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't know how many other fifth rounders, you know, if it's Tom Brady, that was a little bit different story.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_02]: He was a six-rounder, but I just think, let him play and see what happens.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: But I know there was people out there calling the Sean the starter like eight months ago.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, they were.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and I was some lady I think I saw and I was very tired.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, then who didn't she's like, oh, okay, maybe not.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: It was just right.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: But I just joking.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm anxious.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_02]: I just want to see people who form and I don't risk bad on anyone.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't want anyone to get hurt.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want anyone to have a terrible overall career.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_02]: All I want is my team to win in the end, but I hope everyone, you know, has a successful career.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: I know that's never going to be the case, but, you know, that's, maybe that's why I don't play fantasy football, because I hear people like, yeah, I hope Adrian Peterson terrors as ACL.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, what are we talking about?
- 32:43[SPEAKER_02]: Look, hey, come on out, but, um, that was just, that was a throw bank.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I heard in my locker room when you say it's been a couple years.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, AP reference.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_02]: But um, but no, I just let's just let's give him opportunity.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_02]: Let's not write off people before they even, you know, play a full season.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you didn't even get the opportunity to play the whole year.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_02]: And there was some plays that as a Brownspan, you got to be excited about.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't understand it.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's your team.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_02]: You're looking and you're just like, uh, I just don't like it.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like,
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: We've had to, I said, we've, oh my gosh, what is going on?
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: The Browns have had thirsty come into the good side here, okay?
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: The Browns have had some bad quarterbacks over the years.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: Do tell.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: Just give it some time.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yes, we've seen some of this.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_02]: Someone was just in the news.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: I really was hoping that person would do well too, but I don't want to drag his name through the mud anymore.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: Now we already did.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: But I will say, I'm pulling for him.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_02]: I hope he, you know, because he seems like a nice genuine person who, you know, really loves football.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but there's people with agendas, biases, and they just, they're going to do what they're going to do.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_02]: And he looks like he's someone who can handle that, you know, I couldn't.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: But he looks like he can handle it.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe he's just a great actor.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_02]: But he looks like you can handle it.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm hoping, you know, he has a good season
- 34:15[SPEAKER_01]: Well, one thing he always goes to, I feel like when I'm listening to him talk or anything, he always goes to his faith and how he just does not, he really doesn't let the outside opinions impact him and to me, I'm like,
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's really the only way you're gonna survive in Cleveland, man.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can't, it's, I mean, it is.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: You can't be bigger, but you can't be Baker Mayfield and Bicker back and forth with the media and let what they're saying gets you.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you're truly not letting any of that outside noise get to you, like that's to me, that's put you a step ahead.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_02]: That gives you an end on this Baker.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_01]: I was a big Baker fan.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_01]: I just,
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: It was a love hate with Baker.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know?
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: I actually got your love hate with Baker.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: Don't wish him any ill will whatsoever.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a cool dude.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's fun to watch.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: I just think his time here was probably at an end.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think he needed to go what he went through.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he had a one foot out of league basically, you know, competing on a, basically a vett minimum contract with Kyle Trask for your career.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's that's the point that he reached it.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: So and it humbled him.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think and that's good.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's good to see you guys bounce back for sure for sure.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: First should or I just I don't know man.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like he You just talked about Mary Kay.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was right.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: It was even before the draft took place.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: She was talking the Browns need to name to Sean QB1 now and just and and go with it.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: We're like, what are you talking about?
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: crazy stuff.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_01]: And now that she's on the radio saying, Shador made huge strides during the spring.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that if he keeps progressing, he's got a real chance to be the starter.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's why you don't declare a starter in freaking April.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, the season then started.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, it doesn't start to later forgotten.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_02]: Can we put pads on and just see who's who true true.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's all I'm saying.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_02]: That's all I'm saying.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_02]: And having a cubic competition is exciting as well.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: So what we have them every year.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: We might not agree that there is exciting, but you guys aren't as used to it.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're still new into this and your QB competition.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, true.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_02]: True.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's funny.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, did you, do you believe that Shador's a higher than a fifth round talent?
- 36:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think that was just a little weird.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_02]: That was a weird situation.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_02]: It was.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but
- 36:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think people are right when they're like, look, it really doesn't matter now.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_03]: Doesn't matter now.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_02]: I will say as a person where being drafted really battered for my career, if I was a late traffic and baseball.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_02]: the early struggles of my career, I would have never had the opportunity to get called up.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_02]: But since I was a high draft pick, I got chance after chance after chance, and politics kind of worked in my favor.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_02]: So that's the only time it kind of does matter.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_02]: But I feel like he's now at a situation where he's got film in NFL games.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_02]: And
- 37:29[SPEAKER_02]: If you're objectively looking at the films, I feel like you're like, okay, this cake can play.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's fair point because if draft capital is the only thing, like if that dictated everything, Dylan Gabor would be in the QB competition with the Sean Watson.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: At least he'd be part of the mix if not a head of Shador, but he's already out of the picture, you know, so and he was a third ground pick.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: So I think what you said that the film shows there's clearly somebody here who is worth seeing what they can do, development wise and the other ones like, yeah.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: Oh boy, I was rough to watch.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I mean, I was pulling first to door the whole time, but I was never like, yeah, I hope doing Gabriel sucks like, I wasn't like that, I don't know it for us it was more like we kind of knew he sucked so as we were watching were like, oh my gosh, like just
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: Just end a pain, take him out, please.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm not rooting for the guy to lose.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's another big thing, too.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, people have asked me, well, if the Sean gets named the starter, are you gonna root against him?
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: No, are you kidding me?
- 38:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not rooting for my team to lose.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's ridiculous.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not that kind of fan.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'll root for him to succeed.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't mean I'm gonna believe it's gonna happen, but I'll root for it.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: There's a difference.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't have to be the same.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_01]: You never know.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: You never know.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he was once great over half a decade ago.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we'll see, we will see.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: So tell me real quick before we dive into some of your stories.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: Who are some of your favorite players in the NFL?
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: Outside of, you know, the stealers and all that.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: Outside of Shadour, I'll say,
- 39:13[SPEAKER_02]: The people I like to watch, just in general, a little disclaimer, are people that, you know, our unselfish players, even though some of their stuff could be taken in the wrong way, like if a receiver, if he seems like he's unhappy, he's not in the ball.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_02]: People always want to, you know, just point that that being selfish.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_02]: but in certain situations, you've been all those practices.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: You know what your teams, your offense focuses on you and what you can contribute and you're thinking, look, look, in order for us to win, I need to get the ball certain amount of times.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_02]: But obviously, the average fan might not look at it that way.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_02]: And sometimes there's football games where you're not gonna get your six to 10 catches and teams are gonna try their best
- 40:06[SPEAKER_02]: But me, I always love receivers and quarterbacks.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_02]: Those are my, you know, and I feel like one of my favorite players that I've liked to watch over the years, and, you know, it's unfortunate he was ordering a quarterback, but it's his Herbert.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_02]: Love watching Herbert, big dude, athletic.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously got a cannon, I'm probably,
- 40:28[SPEAKER_02]: you know, like in that part, just because that's all I had.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't do anything else, but you did have a cannon.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's for sure.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_02]: But I will say, you know, it's exciting for me.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I like for people to look a certain way too.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like, like, when people are doing certain things, like you take Patty Mahomes, he just, I don't know.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like, obviously he's a great quarterback, but the way his mannerisms and how he runs and everything, he gets the job done.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_02]: Just I can't out of five in the words.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_02]: That also what it is.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_02]: He just looks like he's in the back yard playing what his little kids are so But but but yeah, so Herbert and I also like You know who can't who doesn't like say quans jumping over people backwards and stuff Even though he looks like a created player in a video game
- 41:23[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like he's also just a good person overall too, and he was getting the golf too, so I like that.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, say quann Herbert, and I'll also, I'll try to put a defender in there.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_02]: I like, um, and usually, for defense, I like safety's.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I used to like certain people that, you know, would come down, could, you know, take your head off, but also had some ball skills and stuff like that.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_02]: But at the end of the day, none of the people actually liked back of the day had long careers.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like that I was looking forward to.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_02]: There's obviously the typical people there, everybody think of like Ed Reen and stuff like that.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_02]: But right now, there's people that kind of mimic
- 42:00[SPEAKER_02]: those type of players, and I was really excited when the seal is got Jalen Ramsey.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_02]: I know he's not, he's different now, but he's still one of my favorite players to watch, and he's got one of the best memes ever.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_02]: So I might have to say Ramsey, but like I talked about earlier, whenever the sealers need to turn over.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_02]: We always know TJ what is one strip sack away.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm still mad to this day that my wife got me and my daughter, George Picken's Jersey's right before he got traded.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_02]: And our son got the TJ watch Jersey.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_02]: So, just.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_02]: I've never had a steal of this Jersey like recent a good one, because I've always struggled on who to get and I ended up with George Picken's.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_02]: He's not even a steal anymore.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think when I got the jersey, it was what, maybe four or five months later.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_02]: That's like great.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: I knew it.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: I knew it.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: Tough break.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: I told everybody the other day, I bought a Shidorr.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: Number 12 jersey last year.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: I said, well, at least it's a Denzel Boston jersey in the front.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_01]: Can you scrape it?
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: I can do, I got masking tape.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'll just Boston there we go.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's pretty awesome, too.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: But I outside of the Browns, and I know this sucks that he's on the Ravens.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_01]: I've always liked watching Derek Henry as a running back.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_01]: I just, he's a freak.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, how can you be that big?
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and now that old, and still just mulling people.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's scary.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm never like, I'm just like, I hope a team just starts.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_02]: They forget they have him in the backfield just at all the ball every time.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_02]: But, oh, Sam makes me, I don't know, how do I say Jalen Ramsey over Kyle Hamilton?
- 43:46[SPEAKER_02]: What is wrong with him?
- 43:49[SPEAKER_02]: But you just brought up the ravens and I'm like, ah, I know you're with another day and everything, but ah, he's just, he is, you know, back in the day when you create your players and you create a player on defense, he is the guy that you would probably create and you can just do everything.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, Steelers, let's get him.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm obviously much heavier on the offensive side too.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like I love Justin Jefferson.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's just, I know he's like one of the best receivers in the league.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: So that's like an easy one.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: But he's just, he's fun to watch.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's fun to watch.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: Very talented.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McAfrey.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think is crazy.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: Again, can do everything.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_01]: And he's old too now.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: And it's still, he just keeps on doing it.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: And it's, it's always fun to watch and play.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_01]: I, as far as young guys go like,
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: down there in Carolina.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_01]: OK.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm interested to see all these his career goes.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: Just guys like that.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of fun to watch.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, guys who have highlights, like there was just to bring up a wild card who, I don't know what people think of him in general, but he still had to this day as one of my favorite highlights in the NFL game ever, and that's Dante Hall.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_02]: Playing for the chiefs, he had caught a little hitch, and he literally jute like four different Broncos, and two of them didn't even know where he was and he was running down a sideline.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm just like that is always going to stick in my brain.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_02]: And when you're thinking of a receiver who could just change your game, just get the ball to him as quickly as you can and just watch, like,
- 45:24[SPEAKER_02]: He was, and obviously special teams, he could return puns and kicks too.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_02]: So, just fun to watch.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I, everyone's in a while, I'll pull that up that clip on YouTube where it's just like, how?
- 45:35[SPEAKER_02]: How did that even happen?
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: So, you feel like the Martian Lynch Beast mode?
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes, yes.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_01]: How on, God's name is he doing this?
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: All of them people back are just insane.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.

- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, second round pick.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_01]: Buy the fillies.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, fill it up your fillies.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: And that was what year?
- 48:21[SPEAKER_02]: 2010.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_02]: 2010.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: We get an old man.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: We're getting old.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_02]: We are, we are.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I feel it, I don't know about you.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_02]: You don't look as overweight as I do.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_02]: You don't look overweight at all.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, these knees are like, you gotta lose some weight.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's what they're trying to tell me.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: I can't go to the gym anymore without leaving my elbows or like, what are you doing?
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not even lifting that much weight.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you just push ups.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: Right now I'm just walking.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_01]: Just happy to be walking.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, now I'm with you.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_01]: Why is giving me up in the morning or taking logs so hey, that's cool It's good to yeah, good to do something together with the wife.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes, but okay, so you spent and I mean how many years did you spend with the fillies before you went to Cleveland?
- 49:11[SPEAKER_02]: So I was traveling in 2010 and as my son would tell you I got fired and
- 49:18[SPEAKER_02]: Markets.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, March 2015 at the end of spring training, the fillies just, they, they had given me a ton of chances and it just wasn't working out.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_02]: And it was weird, but, you know, because I'd never been cut or released or anything.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_02]: And the first time that happened, it was a shock to the system.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I did feel like a failure, but luckily, you know, the Indians were kind of
- 49:46[SPEAKER_02]: watching from afar for a number of years.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_02]: They talked about drafting me 20 picks before the Phillies, but they didn't do it.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_02]: And it's stunk, but you know, because the Indians have a great track record for developing players.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, the Phillies, they had just won a World Series in their whole starting rotation, except Joe Blanton.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_02]: We're all stars and Hall of Famers and I'm like, well, this is great.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait to replace Cole Hamilton's right holiday, like, what do we do with it?
- 50:23[SPEAKER_02]: But, um, but yeah, 2010,
- 50:29[SPEAKER_02]: And 2015, it was hard.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_02]: I literally was home for one day.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_02]: Was that dinner with the family?
- 50:34[SPEAKER_02]: Got a call from a two one, six number.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_02]: And was like, you know, I'm making a joke.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_02]: Like, what if this is the end of you, you know?
- 50:41[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm sure enough, answer the phone.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_02]: Like, this is the end of you.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I just want to see if you're still interested in playing baseball.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, duh, yes.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_02]: This is the three days.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_02]: What do you mean?
- 50:53[SPEAKER_02]: And then they scared me, because they were just like, okay, hung up the phone, nine days later.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, wow.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_02]: They were just like, yeah, yeah, 90s later.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_02]: They were just like, hey, yeah, we got to a flight out the Arizona.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like, okay, great.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_02]: Let's do this.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_02]: But they were like, you got to follow everything we say.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, of course, I literally have no job right now.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'll do whatever you say it.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_02]: So that's what we did and it worked out for the best.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_02]: My my confidence grew.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_02]: I wasn't looking at baseball is a, you know, a terrifying event that I had to put up with every day.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_02]: And they were just like, hey, throw the ball hard.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I came obsessed with throw the ball hard and next thing you know, year and a half later, I was in the big leagues.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_02]: So it was a,
- 51:44[SPEAKER_02]: the process was was grueling.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_02]: I will say the first five years was tough.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_02]: Coming home like, yeah, man.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_02]: Pro baseball, so cool.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm just, I'm just struggling.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_02]: It's I also, it was a struggle bus.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_02]: And you don't hear or see that too often.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_02]: especially in the sports that most people follow basketball on football for the most part you're drafted and you're on the team, right?
- 52:10[SPEAKER_02]: You know, baseball, you get drafted unless your name's Cole Emerson.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_03]: From John Glenn, you're just in the big leagues.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_02]: But it was it was a definitely something that built character in me and not really failing in much.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_02]: And then failing for so long in your career and you feel like it's over, then you get like a breath of fresh air and your hometown team calls you and it's just like,
- 52:41[SPEAKER_02]: it was amazing to get the opportunity to just be signed by them.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_02]: And then the trajectory they put me on and the programs, obviously helped my body and, you know, and then eventually I got caught up.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_02]: And that was a whole thing in itself.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_01]: So, well, yeah, we'll talk about that day.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_01]: Cause you, did you start an accurate?
- 53:02[SPEAKER_02]: No, actually, so I was mad about that.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_02]: They started me, so Crystal was like, hey, we want, I'm okay with you playing baseball, especially if it's India's because all their teams are pretty much a aisle.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_02]: They have one team, that is not an aisle.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: And which one is it?
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not even that up to speed on it.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not something I want to say, a black man is very excited to say, but it's a lynch bird.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_01]: lynch bird, that's right.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_01]: I feel okay, I didn't know that.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_02]: But, Lichberg is a great place.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_02]: And it was literally a blessing in disguise.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_02]: I went and there wasn't a whole bunch of young guys.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_02]: There was some, you know, we had there was one who was a high-draft pick, Gary played with a year there.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_02]: But it was like a well-rounded team.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_02]: I fit in well with them.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_02]: I was able to just come in and worry about baseball.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_02]: And it was just, it was just literally everything I needed.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_02]: Still got friendships with a lot of those guys.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_02]: Um, you know, even though I was 26 and most of them were 21, 22, it's better than being there with 18, 19 or so.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I did have a moment where guy tried me like, A man, that's my shower.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, do you see how big I am?
- 54:15[SPEAKER_02]: Like, okay, do you what do you really want to do this?
- 54:19[SPEAKER_02]: And then he used like, I'll just mess with you.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, yeah, you better be.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_02]: But little busy, no Josh.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_02]: I've never been to fight, and I'm the nicest guy ever.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_01]: But I was gonna say, I'm like, I don't know if first he would ever fight anyone.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, but yeah, so that was being in the Lynchburg was a blessing of disguise and then the next year I had a horrible spring training in 2016 thought I was getting cut they sent me the acronym thankfully and I said you know what I'm just going to have fun play this kids game like it's my last year and I was just out there was loose and not overthinking
- 55:01[SPEAKER_02]: And I remember seeing, you know, the first I felt really good when he came.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, man, and we got a guy throwing a hundred already in the bullpen, Ben Heller.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, you know, I've touched 98 before, but that was years ago.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_02]: And let's just see, you know, Ben's talking some stuff.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm like, let me see if I can throw hard.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I thought the scoreboard was wrong because 99 popped up and I was like, huh, I was like, that can't be right.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_02]: And, but they said, you know,
- 55:29[SPEAKER_02]: I have like a 0.5 year A, it's been, you know, April, May, June, and I'm like, hey, three months, I've been pitching this well.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_02]: This is crazy.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, I got to get called up to the Columbus or some, I'm not going to be a pitch just well for this long.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_01]: Great confidence.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_01]: Great confidence.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_02]: Call me up before that.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and then I was supposed to play an all-star game in W.A.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_02]: and Akron, but they called me up to Columbus on July 4th.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, okay, great.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_02]: You know, hopefully I keep this going.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_02]: In the first pitch, I gave up a 900 foot home run.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_03]: So that was great.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_02]: That was great.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, oh, good I lose it.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_02]: But I was able to home back in.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_02]: I became the closer for Columbus when the other guy who threw 100, the hellered kid.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_02]: He got traded away of the Yankees and the Andrew Miller deal.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I just kind of fell in the place and just felt super comfortable coming in, late in games, throwing the ball is hard as I possibly could.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_02]: Somehow it was going where I wanted it to go.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_02]: And I had that thought again.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, all right, I've been here for a month.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_02]: I've been dominating here.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_02]: I am throwing super hard and no one is hitting me.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm closing games.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, this is great.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_02]: And he's got to call me up before I start giving it up.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_02]: And August 31st, they called me up and got to make my debut against twins.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_02]: Got my first strike out.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_02]: That guy's still playing.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to this podcast with you.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_02]: at MagSkephler, I think you got popped though for performance and dancing drugs.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_02]: But anyways, I struck him out, so.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, it was a great debut.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_02]: The guys were amazing on the team.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know, they made me feel comfortable.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if they knew at the time that they were gonna make a world series run.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_02]: But I had all intents and purposes of making the playoff roster and, you know, pitch it in the world series.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_02]: But I had thrown so much that year and my Velo at the last game I think so I came in and I'm throwing like, you know, ninety six ninety eight so ninety nine's and my last game I was like eighty eight to ninety so they're like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
- 57:53[SPEAKER_02]: You're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you
- 58:19[SPEAKER_02]: Those horrendous, but it was so loud and kittiness is like I'm glad you went first because that was loud as heck.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, yeah, it's it's very loud as scared crap out of me.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_02]: What, um, but no, it's, it was, uh, it was a great experience, love to play it with the Indians.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_02]: I wish I could have had a longer career with them, uh, ended up into my career with the Orioles.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_02]: But, um, to this day, you know, other than family stuff, of course.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's, you know, getting called up.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_02]: It was one of the greatest days in my life.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_02]: And I love hearing the stories from other people that like, what were you doing?
- 58:52[SPEAKER_03]: Personally, I got called up, but my favorite stories
- 58:59[SPEAKER_02]: who we, you know, play baseball, like run up.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_02]: He talks about Ken Rosenthal's tweet.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_02]: And this is back when Twitter or X was a, it was a different place than it is now.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, I'll just say that.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_02]: But it was still good for some truthful, hurtful comments back then.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_02]: I reckon Rosenthal says, you know, the Cleveland Indians have called Percy Gardner up
- 59:28[SPEAKER_02]: And the first comment is, who the hell is Percy?
- 59:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, amen, brother.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_02]: I probably would have said to see it being like, oh, the heck?
- 59:41[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_02]: But no, man, there's plenty of good stories I love here.
- 59:45[SPEAKER_02]: And like I said, I love hearing people tell me like, oh yeah, the day you got caught up, a call off work came up there.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it was a lot of people share the good stories and very memorable moment for me and family.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, obviously the, the test for our county area.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_02]: And then I get outdone by an Olympic gold medalist.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_03]: So, I'm a little...
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it gets a day named after him and everything, you know, I mean, a golden medalist and that'd be really that hard.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm sure.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_01]: Food now, but no, shout out to Hunter Hunter Armstrong, but yes, Hunter.
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to say Ryan.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, no, Ryan.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_01]: Just dad.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_01]: Hunter.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Hunter.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, yeah, because I had him on the podcast and you were on.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_02]: But no, it was obviously amazing.
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_02]: Love cleavage sports set the browns and it was just you already said we come on.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_02]: I know I did slip up, but
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, I remember the day the day you got called up.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_01]: Um, because of course, like you got called up, you don't know if you're going to actually get into the game.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, actually I was hoping I wasn't because I didn't get the sleep.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_02]: I was dead tired.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_02]: I was just so excited.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_02]: It was like, you know, Christmas or first day of school is a kid.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_02]: I literally could not sleep.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_02]: So you got called the day before or the day off.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so the day the night before.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_02]: So we had finished playing a game in Durham.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, okay, and they told me right after the game.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_02]: I actually thought I was getting traded.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_02]: So I didn't want to go into the manager's office because We had just saw that Coco Chris was coming over from the Oakland Athletics and I was like, my wife's going to kill me if I go to Oakland And So they were like, I for sure they were like, hey, we don't know for sending cash or for gonna send players You know, of course, we go in the locker room after the game and I'm in the shower and the like skip once to see it.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, oh gosh
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_02]: No, not Oakland, and I took my time to go in there.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_02]: And someone else comes out like, first, what are you doing, man?
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_02]: Let's get what's to see it.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_02]: So I go back there and they look at me and they're like, you're going to Cleveland.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, what?
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, good to heck, I hugged everybody in there.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, it was great.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_02]: And it was fun just to be in Durham with the history and everything and get caught up from there.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't get to try any of the crispy cream.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_02]: I was really excited about some crispy cream donuts, but...
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's day trim.
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, day view.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_01]: I remember they were showing, they were showing you down on the sideline before the game kind of talking to people and everything.
- 1:02:19[SPEAKER_01]: I remember I was, because I was at my house.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, okay, I'm not watching a ton of Indians games throughout the summer or anything.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm like, I'm watching this one.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see if he gets into the game.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, man, there's Percy.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_01]: And then, right before the game, my dad calls me, and he's like, hey, meet your mom.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_01]: We're going up to the game.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_01]: You see, Percy's, I'm like, yeah.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_01]: They just happened to have tickets for that game so they were up there too.
- 1:02:38[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm watching on the TV and like, I don't know, 10 rows behind you there.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's my mom and dad, because my dad's texting me, he's like, hey, first he's right down here.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I know I'm watching.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_01]: And then, of course, you come into the game.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that same, that same night.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_01]: It was like, this is freaking awesome, man.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the Vajara was pounded just because Cody Alzacloser were up three.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's the, the bottom of the eighth or no.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was the bottom of the eighth.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_02]: And Cody Allen's getting warmed up to go on the game.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_02]: And we end up scoring two more runs.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_02]: So then we became a five-run lead in the phone rang.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, oh damn.
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, who did call in there now?
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_02]: Because you know, a certain people in Cody's the closer you know, and the save opportunity is going in.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_02]: And as soon as that phone ring, I looked down and my heart was like, and I was like, oh my gosh, you're like, first of all, you're ready.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, and then Cleveland's got 18 flights of stairs to get to the bullpen, and man.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_02]: So all I could think about was not falling all the way from the mountain.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_02]: Because you gotta go up those stairs and you gotta get warm real fast and then you gotta run all the way down the stairs and then run all the way to the mountain.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_02]: I ain't gonna lie.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_02]: I was like a man, hopefully I can throw some strikes because I can't breathe right now.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_01]: That is correct.
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's a crazy story for your first time, too.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_01]: I can't imagine the heart beating the...
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_01]: Butterflies get adrenaline just all that stuff mixed together, but it was good.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't had that in a while I haven't had the butterflies in a long time.
- 1:04:20[SPEAKER_02]: I think when I got when I thought I was going to get drafted I was supposed to go first round to the red socks and when that pick came up Do the butterflies in my stomach were crazy and then I just went a long time even my debut like in minor leagues I didn't I wasn't like crazy But man, yeah, that big league debut was different
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_01]: I can't even imagine, man, this is so cool.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_01]: But I hope everybody enjoyed the story here and from Percy here.
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_01]: Let us know in the comments, your thoughts and feedback on the AFC North Breakdowns, some of your opinions, who you guys think are going to finish, you know, first through four in the division, all that kind of stuff.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to hear more from Percy, he's got a podcast.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_01]: 99 mile per hour, I said it had been nice.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_01]: If you could hit 100, one time, but I tried.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_01]: I tried.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_01]: We were trying to come up with a name for Percy's show, and he's like, well, what's the fastest you ever threw?
- 1:05:09[SPEAKER_02]: 99, okay, let's just go with that.
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I'm glad you did that Josh because I was just going to name it the Percy gunner show so I'm Way better name way better name Yeah, you and Percy's got a ton of episodes out there too.
- 1:05:24[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing's super recent though, right?
- 1:05:26[SPEAKER_01]: Or do you have you had a few recently?
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_02]: I had, I think my last guest was Ryan Grohl, who lost like 300 pounds writing a bike.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_02]: He was just in bicycle magazine article two they've been around him so yeah.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_02]: So he's the last one I think I had on there and I think the last few were like him, Ted again, that we shot together, you produced, yeah.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_02]: which is one of the most fun podcasts that were done.
- 1:05:53[SPEAKER_02]: So that was a good day.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_01]: I was a fun time.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if you were on your birthday, go check out his podcast 99 mile per hour with Percy Garner.
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_01]: You interview a lot of cool people and it's always a fun conversation.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_01]: So I missed doing those episodes with you.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_01]: Those were the good old days.
- 1:06:12[SPEAKER_01]: When you made those, I did, I forced you.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_01]: I forced Percy to start a podcast.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad you're there.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad I know, but, um, oh, I guess real quick, let's talk about this.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_01]: We got Carlos Bayerga.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_01]: There's an event coming up to us across County Browns backers real quick before we get Percy out of here.
- 1:06:30[SPEAKER_01]: Just want to mention this Saturday, August 1st, not the 8th, which is what I was determined it was going to be Saturday, August 1st from 12 to 2 at Shenanigans Bar and Grill in Dover, Ohio, go get autographs, hang out, meet Carlos Bayerga.
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's going
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_01]: and you are trying.
- 1:06:48[SPEAKER_01]: Figures across hopefully going to have him on the podcast.
- 1:06:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it's tough.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_02]: He works for the Indians, are the Guardians and the Braves, where he's working with broadcasting their games.
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think when Cleveland's away, he's doing Atlanta, I don't know, he's crazy schedule.
- 1:07:04[SPEAKER_02]: If we can make it happen, that'd be amazing.
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_02]: But if not, I'll just see him with everyone else in August first.
- 1:07:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:07:10[SPEAKER_01]: Well, hopefully you do.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_01]: And if you do get an opportunity to have him on the podcast, I will share the link around for everybody to appreciate them.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see everybody Saturday, August 1st.
- 1:07:22[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to, you guys can meet us.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm sure some of us will be there from the dogs.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_01]: Bearder Browns will be there.
- 1:07:26[SPEAKER_01]: Person will be there.
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_01]: So it'll be a good time.
- 1:07:31[SPEAKER_01]: But all right, man.
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_01]: Why appreciate you sitting down and shooting the crap with me here for a little bit.
- 1:07:36[SPEAKER_01]: This was fun.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_01]: It was fun.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for having me.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_01]: So thanks again to my good friend Percy for joining me on the podcast today to break down the AFC North.
