- 0:00There are many times in our lives that we feel as if our backs are against the
- 0:04wall or that there seems to be no escaping the problems that are set before us.
- 0:09Today, as we walk through Exodus chapter 14, we are going to see how Moses,
- 0:14under the direction of the Lord, showed the Israelites that when they feel squeezed
- 0:18and their backs are against the wall and everything around them seems to be
- 0:22crumbling, they needed to trust in the Lord because God will always make a way of escape.
- 0:28Join Kim in this podcast of Woman at the Well Ministries as she takes us on
- 0:32a journey revealing the amazing deliverance of God.
- 0:37Hello, and thank you for joining us in this podcast of Woman at the Well Ministries.
- 0:42We're in a familiar passage of Scripture in Exodus chapter 14.
- 0:46But one that I don't think we often look at through the lens of our own lives
- 0:54or through the lens of Hebrews 12, 2 and 3.
- 0:58Hebrews 12, 2 and 3 says this, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of
- 1:05our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,
- 1:11despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
- 1:16For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself,
- 1:21lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
- 1:26So often as we live our lives, there are things that come into our lives that
- 1:33will bring us to our knees.
- 1:36There are things that come into our lives that we are just simply not looking to have happen.
- 1:45And if we are not...
- 1:48Secure in our faith, and if we are not looking to Jesus,
- 1:54the author and finisher of our faith, if we are not purposely focused on who
- 2:01he is and what he has done and what he will continue to do,
- 2:06we can find ourselves doubting.
- 2:10We can find ourselves in despair.
- 2:14We can find ourselves living a life that isn't shining the light.
- 2:22But when we look at what Jesus said, one, that he is the author and finisher
- 2:27of our faith, so if things are starting to creep up in your mind and heart, you can go to him.
- 2:35And we know that 1 John 1, 9 says he's faithful to forgive us of our sins and
- 2:40to cleanse us from all unrighteousness when we confess our sins to him.
- 2:44But we can go to him and ask for an increase in our faith.
- 2:49But when we think about what Jesus endured on the cross of Calvary and then
- 2:57realize that Hebrew scroll tells us that he counted that as joy,
- 3:03then we begin to look at our lives slightly different.
- 3:08How could the King of kings and the Lord of lords who humbled himself in front of man.
- 3:15Who gave himself a sacrifice for my sins and your sins, how could he have found that joyous?
- 3:24How could he?
- 3:26Yeah, I get that he was God, but he's also fully man. I'll tell you how he did.
- 3:31He didn't count the cost.
- 3:33He looked at the result.
- 3:38Jesus knew that there was no way that you and I could go to heaven unless he
- 3:45sacrificed his entire self.
- 3:49And he loved us so much that he was joyful to provide what we needed so that we could all go free.
- 4:01Even those that we know for a fact will reject him, has rejected him, he died for them as well.
- 4:10And we often talk about that as we talk about how we are to be a light into the world to everyone.
- 4:18But when you think about what Christ endured on the cross, counting it as joy,
- 4:24knowing that the very people he was dying for, many would not receive his free gift of salvation.
- 4:32And then we allow ourselves to move forward in our hearts and minds,
- 4:36and we begin to think about the trials and the temptations, the setbacks,
- 4:40the hardships, the difficulties.
- 4:44That living for Christ in this world—,
- 4:48offers us, we begin to see that we don't often count that as joy.
- 4:54We don't count it as joy for God to use us in a difficult situation to show
- 5:01others how they might see Jesus.
- 5:05We don't count it joy when God puts something in our life or allows something
- 5:11in our lives, and it's for the good and benefit of someone else to watch a good,
- 5:16godly Christian man or woman go through it.
- 5:19We don't count it joy when we're tools in his hands if the work to be done is
- 5:27difficult, arduous, unpleasant.
- 5:31But nothing he's going to call us to do, nothing he's going to ask of us is
- 5:36ever going to put us in a situation that is anything like what he counted joy as he endured the cross.
- 5:46And praise be to God, he gives us a lot of examples in Scripture to help us
- 5:51to see when difficulty comes,
- 5:54when seemingly things are happening in our lives and we feel like we're squeezed
- 5:59or we feel like our back's against a wall and we have this concept that there's simply no way out.
- 6:07When we look at Exodus 14, we see that God is always working,
- 6:12that he always has a plan for us, that he's not going to allow us to not escape.
- 6:20Our text tonight comes from Exodus 14,
- 6:26and the entire account is what we're going to be referring to,
- 6:30but I want to read in your hearing Exodus 14, 21 through 30.
- 6:36The remaining parts of that chapter, the previous verses, I would ask that you would read on your own.
- 6:46And allow the Lord to open your heart and mind to receive what he has for you.
- 6:51Exodus 14, beginning in verse 21.
- 6:55And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord caused the sea to
- 7:00go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land,
- 7:06and the waters were divided.
- 7:08And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground,
- 7:13and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand and on their left.
- 7:18And the Egyptians pursued and went in after them to the midst of the sea,
- 7:22even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
- 7:27And it came to pass that in the morning watch, the Lord looked unto the host
- 7:32of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud,
- 7:35and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
- 7:38and took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily.
- 7:43So that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel,
- 7:46for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
- 7:50And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea,
- 7:54that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians.
- 7:56Thus the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians.
- 8:01And Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the seashore.
- 8:04And Israel said, That great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians.
- 8:10And the people feared the Lord. And believe the Lord.
- 8:15And his servant Moses. We are all familiar with this passage of Scripture,
- 8:20but I want to walk through this,
- 8:23and I want you to look through the lens of nothing in your life is compared
- 8:28to the endurance of the cross.
- 8:32And Jesus counted that joy, and we are Christ-like,
- 8:35and Jesus counted that joy because his suffering provided a way of escape for
- 8:42every human being so that they did not have to spend their eternity in hell,
- 8:48but they could live for eternity in heaven through Jesus Christ by the shedding
- 8:53of his sinless blood and we receiving that blood for the forgiveness of our sins.
- 9:00And he endured this suffering for someone else.
- 9:07He endured this suffering so that the glory of God could appear among all people.
- 9:14He endured this suffering by the grace and mercy and love of God,
- 9:20because it was God who sent his son to die so that we might go free.
- 9:27And in Exodus 14, it opens up with the Lord speaking to Moses.
- 9:34And he's telling the children of Israel that they're to go camp by the sea and
- 9:42if they camp by the sea Pharaoh will find this out and he'll think they're trapped
- 9:48between the Egyptians and the sea,
- 9:51And God then tells Moses that he will harden Pharaoh's heart and that Pharaoh
- 9:56will follow after the Israelites and that God will demonstrate that he is God
- 10:02and Lord and the Egyptians will know this.
- 10:05The Egyptians are going to be told by Moses, because Moses was directed by God,
- 10:14to go place themselves in what logically seems like an incredibly vulnerable place.
- 10:25It can't make sense to anyone to go to the sea where you are fully trapped,
- 10:34as those that come behind you.
- 10:38And so Moses shows amazing trust in God's word.
- 10:43And the question remains, as you are looking at the precipice,
- 10:47or maybe you're in the midst of some fiery trial,
- 10:52or maybe you're on the other end, but do you trust God's word enough to defy man's logic?
- 11:03Do you trust God when it seems like there is no way this is going to work out?
- 11:10See, my friend, when we trust God, when we place our faith in God,
- 11:14and we feel like the only thing that's going to work here is for God to change
- 11:20all of logic, for God to intervene in ways like you've never seen.
- 11:26But okay, he says go, so I'm going. And that's who Moses is.
- 11:32Moses knew God so well that what God said didn't have to make sense to him.
- 11:38But God knew that Moses was always right and that God was always looking out for our good.
- 11:48Now that is faith in action. He heard the voice of God, and we talked about this so often recently.
- 11:56Do you know the voice of God?
- 11:59Do you know his character? Have you spent time in the word, learning of him?
- 12:05Have you spent time with him?
- 12:08Seeking His face, His righteousness, knowing that every moment you spend with
- 12:14Him is an investment in your relationship with Him,
- 12:19knowing that the stronger your relationship is with Him, the more blessings
- 12:24you are going to receive because you're going to find yourself in the place
- 12:28where the blessings are coming out.
- 12:30You're going to be under the spout where the glory comes out.
- 12:33You're not going to be left or right of the center of His will.
- 12:36The Israelites, under the direction of God...
- 12:41Through the leadership of Moses, are heading straight for the sea.
- 12:45And just as God said, and just as God planned, the Egyptians were furious that
- 12:53the Israelites were fleeing them.
- 12:56They were escaping their bondage of serving the Egyptians.
- 13:01And the Egyptians didn't like that. I want you to take just a moment to see
- 13:07how this syncs up perfectly with our lives.
- 13:12See, this is a picture of sin.
- 13:16The Egyptians had the slaves in bondage.
- 13:22And for some of us, we are in bondage. We are slaves to sin.
- 13:29We are controlled by our fleshly desires, our fleshly thoughts,
- 13:35our need to be right and to win at all costs.
- 13:40And Jesus, his grace and his mercy and his love, this is the freedom from sin.
- 13:46And so Moses is explaining that God has said we need to do this.
- 13:51And just as we have to place our faith in Jesus Christ to forgive our sins,
- 13:57we have to understand that when we do that, according to Romans 6,
- 14:0114, that sin no longer has dominion over us.
- 14:04We're not under the law, but we're under grace.
- 14:08And all things are possible, and we need to trust in the Lord and lean not unto our own understanding.
- 14:14In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct our paths.
- 14:19The Israelites are moving to
- 14:22what any rational, thoughtful, strategic person would say is their doom.
- 14:30But faith doesn't follow man's logic.
- 14:37Our mind is finite, and God is infinite.
- 14:42God chooses to deliver these people in a way that we've never seen before.
- 14:48I've not seen since, but that does not inhibit God's power.
- 14:56Because you don't know it, and because I don't know it, because we haven't seen
- 15:01it, All that does is limit our mind into understanding how he might do it.
- 15:06But none of that should ever calculate into our faith.
- 15:13He's God. And we're going to watch him be God.
- 15:19Because Moses, under the direction of God,
- 15:23uses his leadership to influence and to lead these Israelites to an amazing deliverance.
- 15:36Pharaoh takes 600 chariots and all of his people and the captains and all that
- 15:42it takes for that, and he goes and he pursues the Israelites.
- 15:49And verse 10 says, and when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted
- 15:56up their eyes and behold, the Egyptians marched after them and they were sore afraid.
- 16:03And the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.
- 16:07As soon as they allowed their faith to decrease and their logic to increase,
- 16:15they become paralyzed in a crisis.
- 16:19In a faith crisis, in a spiritual dilemma, because now they're trying to rationalize who God is.
- 16:32And let me just tell you, there is no way your mortal mind could ever rationalize
- 16:38why a God would leave the splendor of heaven, why he would leave everything behind.
- 16:44He doesn't even bring one piece of ruby, one piece of gold, one piece of sapphire.
- 16:50He doesn't bring any of his legions of angels to make him comfortable,
- 16:54but he comes into a lowly stable as a common man to die and to save people who
- 17:04he knew would reject him,
- 17:07sometimes long before they ever receive him, and some who would never receive him.
- 17:15Logic is out there, people. There's no place for it in that.
- 17:21We don't understand how to love like that, even though we are given the love
- 17:27of Jesus and God is love, and therefore we are to love one another as we love ourselves.
- 17:32We do not have the capacity to love God the way Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit love us.
- 17:40But we have the authority. We have the privilege.
- 17:44We have the amazing gift of receiving it.
- 17:50And so these individuals, these Israelites, they begin to forget what Moses had said.
- 17:57Moses had been spoken to straight from God.
- 18:01And these Israelites are forgetting his promises.
- 18:06How often do we forget the promise that he'll never leave us or forsake us?
- 18:12How often do we forget the promise that he never sleeps or slumbers?
- 18:16How often do we forget the promise that he will give all that we need,
- 18:22that he supplies the strengths we need?
- 18:24How often do we forget the promise that our God is a deliverer?
- 18:29How often do we forget the promise that he has a plan for us to prosper us and to give us a hope?
- 18:35Nowhere in Scripture does it say he promises your life will like it be a bed
- 18:40of roses, that there'll be no problems. In fact, he says...
- 18:45In this world, you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer,
- 18:50for I have overcome the world.
- 18:55We don't have to like the plan, but we have to embrace the plan.
- 19:01There was no way this plan of deliverance that God had for them was going to
- 19:06come to fruition if these Israelites stayed at the place they received the leadership
- 19:14instruction from Moses.
- 19:16I also want to bring to your attention, there's no way that these Israelites
- 19:22were going to escape under this plan if they had not had a leader who knew who God was,
- 19:32and that they could discern the word of God and they would trust God to do what he said he would do.
- 19:39So at the first sign of trouble, they begin to murmur and complain.
- 19:45Faith will lose its way to doubt. And doubt causes fear.
- 19:52And like when we saw Peter who got out of the boat and as long as he kept his
- 19:56eyes on Jesus, when he looked left or right or when he began to think rationally
- 20:01and when he started to look at the storm instead of looking at Jesus,
- 20:05what happened was he sunk.
- 20:07When we take our eyes off of Jesus and his word, we're relying on our own strength,
- 20:13and we aren't fit for the battle.
- 20:161 Samuel 17, 47 says, the battle's not ours. It belongs to the Lord.
- 20:22But in order for that to take place, we have to submit under the mighty hand
- 20:26of God and allow him to exalt us in due time.
- 20:30The Israelites wanted to go back.
- 20:33They wanted to turn to their old ways. They somehow began to think that living
- 20:40as servants of the Egyptians was a better deal than following God's commands.
- 20:46I want you to know something, my friend. In 2 Corinthians 5,
- 20:5017, we are told, therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.
- 20:56Old things are passed away. Behold, all things are become new.
- 21:01We're not who we used to be, so we don't fit into our past.
- 21:06Our past isn't going to lead us to our future.
- 21:10It is the transforming power of Jesus Christ that creates in us a desire to both do good and be good.
- 21:21It is the transforming power of Jesus Christ that sets us on the path that he wants us to be.
- 21:28We cannot turn back. You can't keep looking back.
- 21:32You can't serve both God and man. you've got to keep your eye on the prize towards
- 21:37the high calling here's what we are told,
- 21:42in philippians 3 13 and 14 brethren this is paul talking i count not myself
- 21:49to apprehended but this one thing i do forgetting those things which are behind
- 21:55and reaching forth unto those things which are before.
- 22:00I press toward the prize, the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
- 22:08God is leading. He's not pulling.
- 22:12He's a gentleman. He'll reach back, and he will pick you up out of the miry
- 22:18clay, and he will set your feet on the solid rock.
- 22:23But you have to choose to follow.
- 22:27We always have to be forward-focused. God is not pulling us,
- 22:32and if we look backwards to the world, we cannot be following where God is leading.
- 22:39He said that we're to walk towards the mark of the prize of the high calling. We're to move forward.
- 22:47We can't be in the center of his will if we are looking left or right of where he is.
- 22:55You don't get to be in the center of God's will and do it your way.
- 23:04In Exodus 14, verses 13 through 14, here's what he says.
- 23:09And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still and see the salvation
- 23:14of the Lord, which he will show you today.
- 23:18For the Egyptians whom you have seen today, ye shall see them no more forever.
- 23:24The Lord shall fight for you, and he shall hold your peace.
- 23:32God delivers his people. He doesn't do anything halfway.
- 23:38He saves completely.
- 23:42And we need to trust him to do what he says he will do.
- 23:50God promised Moses if the children of Israel,
- 23:55if the Israelites would follow the commandment God gave Moses and walk in the
- 24:02ways of the Lord and do exactly what he told them to do, that he would deliver them.
- 24:09Our god delivers he tells us in isaiah 46 4 and even to your old age i am he,
- 24:18even in your hoary hair in your gray hairs i will carry you i have made you
- 24:24and i will bear even i will carry and will deliver you but if you take yourself
- 24:30out of the hand of god if you refuse to live by his commandments,
- 24:35if you won't walk in his ways, if you won't heed his voice,
- 24:40if you lose your faith in who he is.
- 24:45He's not going to deliver because you won't receive.
- 24:52In Psalms 118.6, we're told, The Lord is on my side.
- 24:56I will not fear. What can man do unto me?
- 24:59These Israelites who are murmuring and complaining, who see a little trouble
- 25:04coming their way, instead of digging deep, instead of falling on their knees,
- 25:08instead of increasing their faith,
- 25:10instead of asking the Lord to just give them more faith, instead of doing all
- 25:14those things, They want to run back to be slaves to sin.
- 25:20What's drawing you back to the world? What sinful desire do you have?
- 25:27What wicked way in you do you need to ask the Lord?
- 25:30As the psalmist David said in Psalm 139, in those last two verses,
- 25:35what way in you is so appealing to you that you're willing to live in the bondage
- 25:42of sin that you know is not right?
- 25:45That never lasts, because only the well of water springing up through Jesus
- 25:53Christ will ever satisfy your thirst.
- 25:57You won't find it in a bottle.
- 25:59You won't find it in drugs.
- 26:02You won't find it in recreational use of drugs. You're not going to find it
- 26:07in illicit sex. You're not going to find it in your hobbies.
- 26:13They're all going to leave you at the end of the time empty, wanting more.
- 26:21But what did the woman at the well say? In John 4, verse 29,
- 26:27she said, Come see a man which told me all I ever knew.
- 26:33Is not this the Christ? Come see a man who told me all things ever I did. Is not this the Christ?
- 26:41She didn't leave empty. She left thrilled.
- 26:48Jesus transformed her in a moment,
- 26:52and her want-tos and her attitude, her understanding, and her desires,
- 26:59all went from the world and the bondage of sin to the freedom and the grace
- 27:04and the mercy of Jesus Christ.
- 27:08These Israelites simply were forgetting who God was.
- 27:13And right now, you may be going through a horrible thing.
- 27:18There may be difficulties, and it may be health-related. It may be financial.
- 27:23It may be relationships. It could be a plethora of things. But the answer remains the same.
- 27:31It is we have to trust Jesus Christ to deliver us.
- 27:36Moses was not detoured. He knew the promises of God.
- 27:41He heard the voice of God. and he did not hold back, telling the people he loved,
- 27:49the people for whom he was responsible, what they needed to do.
- 27:55I want us to take a close look at Isaiah 43.2.
- 28:01This is the kind of protection God places on his people.
- 28:07Many people, for various reasons, have bodyguards.
- 28:11Many people, for various reasons have security that are looking at them.
- 28:16They're telling them, they're following them, and their job is to take care
- 28:22of them, but they're fallible.
- 28:25Sometimes the person pursuing whom they are protecting is smarter.
- 28:32Sometimes they fail.
- 28:36But our God says in Hebrews 13, 5, that he will never leave you nor forsake you.
- 28:43And our God says in Isaiah 43, 2, when thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee.
- 28:53And through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee.
- 28:58When thou walkest through the fire, thou shall not be burned.
- 29:02Neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Notice he doesn't say,
- 29:07you won't pass through waters.
- 29:09He says, when thou passest through the waters. He doesn't say,
- 29:13you won't have rivers, that you won't have fire, that you won't have problems.
- 29:19In fact, again, we go back to his words in John that says, in this world,
- 29:26you will have tribulation.
- 29:28But be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world. In 1 John 4,
- 29:324, he imparts this promise to us.
- 29:36Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. My friend,
- 29:39we just read, what can man do unto you?
- 29:43The Lord is on your side.
- 29:46So when trouble comes, don't doubt, buckle down.
- 29:52When difficulties come, that's not the time to lose your faith.
- 29:56That's when you really need to hold on to it.
- 30:00In situations that are unpleasant and uncomfortable. This is the time to believe.
- 30:07I remember when my dad died.
- 30:11It honestly was the first person I ever knew that died.
- 30:14My grandparents and such had passed
- 30:17away before I was born, or at least before I was old enough to know.
- 30:20So it was the first funeral I'd gone to.
- 30:24And I remember leading up to that it was a very odd passing my father was very
- 30:30healthy he ended up getting bit by a tick.
- 30:35He was brought to his death by an allergic reaction to a tick bite.
- 30:41I remember being with my pastor at the time, and I don't know where the rest
- 30:45of my family was, but it was just me and him, and he's a pretty renowned pastor in my area.
- 30:54And the tears were coming down my face like a waterfall,
- 31:01because I couldn't understand what life would be like without my dad,
- 31:08and I didn't want to know. Thank you.
- 31:12And I remember at that moment in time as the tears were hitting on this carpet
- 31:16very thin, and so it made a noise, and it was soaked when I put my hands down
- 31:21on my hands and knees and was crying out to God.
- 31:25And after some time passed, and I had prayed everything I could pray,
- 31:29and my heart had no more words, and my body had no more tears,
- 31:33I spent a few more moments there, and then I stood up.
- 31:37And I remember this pastor putting his arm on my shoulder, looking me in the
- 31:43eyes and saying, what a blessing it is to see your face.
- 31:51I was 25 years old, pretty full of myself and in complete distress.
- 31:56And I don't think I'll ever forget what I returned to that statement.
- 32:02I said, don't be impressed.
- 32:05Don't be blessed. If he's not real now, he's never been real.
- 32:12And I have never in my lifetime needed him to be more real, more of who he is,
- 32:19more of what the word of God says than I need him to be right now.
- 32:26This is what I refer to as desperation faith.
- 32:32My friend that I spend a lot of time with, a young lady, she often says that
- 32:39God is the rock when you hit rock bottom.
- 32:42I had to let God be God because no other thing.
- 32:48Going to deliver me from my despair, my hurt, and my confusion.
- 32:55But God being the God that I knew who he was, even though my heart was having
- 33:01a hard time, the God that I knew in my mind and the character of who he was,
- 33:07I clung to with every fiber of my body.
- 33:12No time in my life before that evening had I ever clung to Jesus like I did.
- 33:20And I want you to know he had already passed into the heavens.
- 33:24He was already enjoying his time with Jesus.
- 33:28But my heart and my mind had to be filled with faith where everything that I'd
- 33:36ever known, everything I'd ever believed,
- 33:40was going to be abandoned at that moment.
- 33:44But I knew that I knew, regardless of my circumstances, he is God.
- 33:51And I needed God more than I've ever needed him.
- 33:56And I have to believe that these Israelites,
- 34:00who doubted what Moses had told them, who forgotten the promises of what God
- 34:08had said, knew they were marching towards the sea.
- 34:14And Moses knew this for sure. They were at a moment in time where they had to
- 34:21believe him to be who he said he was.
- 34:28They couldn't murmur and complain. In verse 14, 15a through 16,
- 34:34he says, And the Lord said unto Moses,
- 34:36But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thy hand over the sea,
- 34:40and divide it, and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
- 34:45God speaks and gives Moses quite the command.
- 34:50Now, these Israelites are following
- 34:53Moses, but Moses has got to follow Jesus. He's got to follow God.
- 34:58We can get a lot of information, but the information we have to follow has to be what God has said.
- 35:07And the Lord says unto Moses, wherefore criest thou unto me,
- 35:12speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward.
- 35:15Look, now it's time, Moses, step up and speak with authority,
- 35:22because I'm going to harden the hearts of the Egyptians.
- 35:26And they're going to follow you. And I'm going to honor myself.
- 35:31Pharaoh is going to honor me. And upon all his coasts and all of his chariots and upon his horsemen.
- 35:37And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.
- 35:41This difficulty, this trial that the Lord is getting ready to deliver you from,
- 35:49is going to bring him glory.
- 35:52And it's going to be for your good. but it may be completely for someone else,
- 35:56so that someone else can see who God is, so that someone else can see what the
- 36:02power of trusting in Jesus means.
- 36:06So that others can see our God delivers.
- 36:11Everything that happens, God is using for our good and his glory.
- 36:18The Israelites are in a predicament.
- 36:21They're backed up to the sea. Hundreds of warriors are coming after them.
- 36:26And God asked Moses to pull out his rod and stretch it over the sea.
- 36:32Sometimes your backs are against the wall so that
- 36:36god can be glorified and we can be blessed and sometimes
- 36:40what he asks us to do is simply not
- 36:43logical but a faith-filled christian who's placed their trust in jesus can begin
- 36:50to see that regardless of what's going on around them regardless of the situation
- 36:55god is still god and all of the attributes and all the characteristics of God has never changed.
- 37:03And verse 18 says, And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord,
- 37:08when I have gotten the honor upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
- 37:12It's easy for God to do what he wants to do with us and to change us how he chooses.
- 37:17We cannot resist his power when he forces it upon us.
- 37:23God is working all things out.
- 37:27Our mind can't comprehend it. The Egyptians had forgotten that no one tells God what to do.
- 37:34And on verse 22, he says, And the children of Israel went into the midst of
- 37:39the sea upon the dry ground, and
- 37:40the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand and on their left.
- 37:44He provided a way where there was no way.
- 37:47And he'll do the same for you.
- 37:49He said you're going to go through waters, but hey, I'm going to pass you through
- 37:52them. The rivers are not going to overflow you, but he doesn't take you away from them.
- 37:58God has a plan. We know that in Jeremiah 29, 11, and it's a good one to prosper
- 38:04you and to give you a hope.
- 38:07Stop putting God in a box, limiting him to our knowledge and our capabilities.
- 38:14God makes a way where there is no way. And thus the Lord saved Israel that day
- 38:20out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the seashore.
- 38:28Your life is a testimony because he says in verse 31, And now Israel saw that
- 38:35great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians, and the people feared the
- 38:39Lord and believed the Lord and his servant Moses.
- 38:44All of that information wasn't divulged to Moses when he came to him in the
- 38:53beginning and said, Moses, lead your people and camp in front of the sea.
- 38:59But through every step of faith, and even when doubt arose, they were able to
- 39:05overcome it by the word and the power of God's people.
- 39:10Because we have this.
- 39:13Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that
- 39:17believeth. This is the truth we have to live by.
- 39:21I don't know what you're going through. I don't know what problem you're facing.
- 39:26I don't know how difficult your day was or what tomorrow will be.
- 39:32But this is what I do know.
- 39:34You're not facing it alone. He has a plan to deliver you. You may have to go through it.
- 39:41You may not like it. But you won't fight the battle alone if you submit to him.
- 39:48And you will be victorious because we are more than conquerors through Christ.
- 39:53Who loved us. Thanks be to God, to Jesus, who gives us the victory and makes
- 40:00a way where there is no way.
