- 0:00Speaker 1: Please welcome.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, the big Disney hit The Artful Dodger
- 0:06Speaker 2: has been nominated for a LOGI. The lead actor is
- 0:10Speaker 2: Susie Porters is joining us on the line right now. Hallai,
- 0:13Speaker 2: How are you.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Morning, Mike? I'm good?
- 0:16Speaker 2: How are you really good? Well? Congratulations on The Artful
- 0:20Speaker 2: Dodger's LOGI nomination. What does that recognition mean for you
- 0:23Speaker 2: and the cast? It's good to get nominated, right.
- 0:26Speaker 1: It is. We are thrilled to be nominated. It is
- 0:30Speaker 1: really important for all of us, I think because we
- 0:34Speaker 1: also love doing the show and we think it's kind
- 0:36Speaker 1: of unusual. It's really original. I think it kind of
- 0:40Speaker 1: blends comedy, romance, crime, and it feels modern despite being
- 0:45Speaker 1: set in the eighteen fifties.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yeah right, okay, So with the eighteen fifties, do you
- 0:49Speaker 2: love the costumes or would you have not wanted to
- 0:53Speaker 2: wear what people wear in the eighteen fifties?
- 0:55Speaker 1: Look, I did think about that. I thought, how did
- 0:58Speaker 1: everyone deal with the heat and flies and humidity in Sydney?
- 1:04Speaker 1: I got, oh my god, you know when you just
- 1:05Speaker 1: learned to breathe in these these corsets. But you know what,
- 1:10Speaker 1: it really helps you because it helps the way you walk,
- 1:14Speaker 1: the way you stand.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, it.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Really does because especially saying the lady of the house,
- 1:21Speaker 1: you know, I'm sort of very upright, and so yeah,
- 1:25Speaker 1: there's there's basically not much room for dessert, Like there's
- 1:30Speaker 1: a certain waste that I have to keep throughout the
- 1:35Speaker 1: filming of.
- 1:35Speaker 2: That, I must say was always can you can you
- 1:38Speaker 2: believe people wore those clothes back then? Like you're doing it,
- 1:41Speaker 2: and we know what filming can be, like you're probably
- 1:43Speaker 2: in that for many hours during the day, but can
- 1:45Speaker 2: you imagine having to do that all the time.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I can't. I can't it all. I don't know how
- 1:52Speaker 1: they did it. I really really don't. And they were
- 1:54Speaker 1: kind of dangerous as well, without being too sort of
- 1:57Speaker 1: glim and dark about it, like you know, women used
- 2:01Speaker 1: to catch on fire and die through this. They can't
- 2:03Speaker 1: get the clothes off. It's like a prison, you know,
- 2:06Speaker 1: So you're kidding, Yeah, no, no, I kind of famaged
- 2:11Speaker 1: out through some research that I did, and I was like,
- 2:13Speaker 1: oh my god, that's so horrific.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Hang on top that they caught on fire and couldn't
- 2:18Speaker 2: get the clothes.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Oh my god. I know, like if the women there
- 2:22Speaker 1: are a lot of like open fires, candles, things like that,
- 2:25Speaker 1: and you know, highly flammable and they're sort of stuck
- 2:29Speaker 1: in this thing and they can't get the close off.
- 2:31Speaker 1: It's really quite disturbing. And they got over the kind
- 2:35Speaker 1: of time periods you know, they kind of things changed
- 2:40Speaker 1: and the courses came off and the crimlines came off,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and you know, it's slowly kind of evolved without being
- 2:47Speaker 1: so uptight and it helps you as an actor. But
- 2:50Speaker 1: I felt for that, I felt for the peple of
- 2:52Speaker 1: that time of how they dealt with it.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Well, it helps you play Lady Jane Fox. So logis
- 2:59Speaker 2: they are celebrated the best of Ossie TV. Who should
- 3:02Speaker 2: people vote for Susie? What would she? What should we
- 3:06Speaker 2: be voting for?
- 3:07Speaker 1: Well, I think we should be voting for the artful judge.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yes, I thought you.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not biased at all. Yeah, I do think
- 3:17Speaker 1: because I think it's I do think it's really highly
- 3:21Speaker 1: original sort of example of what our Australian industry, the
- 3:25Speaker 1: industry does there.
- 3:26Speaker 2: And I love that historical stuff. I love anything said
- 3:28Speaker 2: a long time ago. So you can go and get
- 3:31Speaker 2: it now. You could binge it all this weekend on
- 3:34Speaker 2: Disney Plus good luck with the logis Susie Potter, thank
- 3:37Speaker 2: you
- 3:38Speaker 1: My pleasure, Mike, thank you Darling,
