- 1:04Speaker 2: I'm so excited to have you here. I mean, come on,
- 1:07Speaker 2: just just a living legend herself. As before any questions,
- 1:11Speaker 2: I just wanted to give you your flowers.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Everything you do has been amazing r trendsetter, you know,
- 1:15Speaker 2: one of the first one, one of the first WBA
- 1:17Speaker 2: contracts ever.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, the contracts then were a little different than
- 1:21Speaker 4: they are now.
- 1:21Speaker 1: What does that mean?
- 1:22Speaker 2: Like we love that as a kid, like as an
- 1:24Speaker 2: NFL player, I know, like contracts are just like regular
- 1:28Speaker 2: negotiations for you as a WNBA player at one point
- 1:32Speaker 2: time to have to be like one of the first
- 1:34Speaker 2: to get a contract, what how did that happen to
- 1:36Speaker 2: be all just playing for free?
- 1:37Speaker 4: First of all, let me just say like I am
- 1:41Speaker 4: super honored to be on your show. I appreciate that,
- 1:44Speaker 4: like here and you know fanatics fast where you could
- 1:47Speaker 4: have had anybody. I am truly honored. But I will
- 1:50Speaker 4: say this, when the WNBA first started in ninety seven,
- 1:55Speaker 4: there really was no negotiating a contract. It was here's
- 1:59Speaker 4: where your contract is, this is what we're gonna pay you.
- 2:03Speaker 4: And we were just happy and excited to be able
- 2:06Speaker 4: to have a league to play in.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Period.
- 2:09Speaker 2: So you was just like, I'll take whatever you give me.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I'm thanks, well, right like that, okay.
- 2:15Speaker 5: But here's the thing.
- 2:15Speaker 4: It was different because there there were a few of
- 2:19Speaker 4: us who actually had playing contracts and marketing contracts, So
- 2:24Speaker 4: the marketing contract, it supplemented what we didn't make playing.
- 2:30Speaker 4: So I was I was fortunate enough to be one
- 2:32Speaker 4: of those players that had both you.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Yeah you without saying you was that guy. You were
- 2:36Speaker 1: that guy. Yeah you were you were that, you were
- 2:38Speaker 1: that lady? Yeah you were her?
- 2:40Speaker 2: There we go, yeah Timothy hermity Yeah, okay, yeah that part.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I mean, come on, what what didn't you do in
- 2:46Speaker 1: your in your career?
- 2:47Speaker 2: I mean, you accomplished so much from being a four
- 2:50Speaker 2: time WBA champion, a three time goal Olympic gold medalists,
- 2:55Speaker 2: you know, three time w n B, A m VP,
- 2:58Speaker 2: I mean, Defensive Player of the Year. I mean, what
- 3:02Speaker 2: haven't you done? What didn't you do in your career?
- 3:04Speaker 2: Any any regrets like oh my gosh, I wish I
- 3:06Speaker 2: would have can't say, give more buckets?
- 3:09Speaker 1: He was the MVP.
- 3:10Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, you know what I honestly said when
- 3:13Speaker 4: I retired that I was ready to retire because there
- 3:17Speaker 4: was no like, there was no challenge left for me
- 3:22Speaker 4: as far as playing.
- 3:24Speaker 5: No, like, I don't do that.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I've done it all.
- 3:28Speaker 5: No.
- 3:28Speaker 4: But you know what, No, Here's why I say that,
- 3:30Speaker 4: because as a competitor and you know this, right, Like,
- 3:33Speaker 4: you always.
- 3:34Speaker 5: Want to be the best.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Absolutely, you want to be at the.
- 3:36Speaker 5: Top of your game.
- 3:38Speaker 4: So for me to win four championships, to win MVPs,
- 3:41Speaker 4: to win a scoring title, to win Defense Player of
- 3:43Speaker 4: the Year, to play in the Olympics, like I was
- 3:46Speaker 4: ready for a new challenge. But also it got to
- 3:50Speaker 4: a point to where it felt like a job. And
- 3:53Speaker 4: so to me, I always said, when when I woke
- 3:56Speaker 4: up every morning and dreaded having to go to the gym,
- 4:00Speaker 4: then I knew it was time for me to retire.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Man, so that just sounds like an off season for me.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I dread going to the gym. I'm like, dang, I.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Don't believe that.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I mean, I'm just saying, you know, like off season,
- 4:12Speaker 2: you live hard, you get to travel well, drink good,
- 4:14Speaker 2: eat good, and then you look down You're like, this
- 4:16Speaker 2: gut does not represent who I am, and then you
- 4:19Speaker 2: gotta work it off.
- 4:19Speaker 5: I'm I'm I'm still in my off season. You know
- 4:24Speaker 5: what I said.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I'm I'm not here for that.
- 4:27Speaker 4: But you know, as a competitor and especially when you're
- 4:30Speaker 4: at the top of your game and like being a
- 4:31Speaker 4: lead and every single day, twice a day in the
- 4:35Speaker 4: off season, you're working out, you're in the gym, You're
- 4:37Speaker 4: doing all the things to be at the top of
- 4:38Speaker 4: your game. So I actually said, when I retired, I
- 4:42Speaker 4: was so excited to not have to go and work
- 4:45Speaker 4: out every day, to not have to be on a
- 4:47Speaker 4: special diet. I said, for a year, I was gonna
- 4:51Speaker 4: do whatever I wanted to do. I was gonna eat
- 4:53Speaker 4: what I wanted to eat. I was gonna drink what
- 4:54Speaker 4: I wanted to drink.
- 4:56Speaker 5: For a year.
- 4:57Speaker 4: So many years later, I'm still eating what I want
- 4:59Speaker 4: to eat for.
- 5:02Speaker 2: A year's Yeah, okay, you know, look, I don't know
- 5:06Speaker 2: about their retirement life just yet, but I now understand
- 5:09Speaker 2: the mentality.
- 5:10Speaker 5: I'm just telling you it's hard.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I can't wait. I'ma be playing like pick a ball
- 5:14Speaker 2: for the rest of my life. So I'm not trying
- 5:15Speaker 2: to hear it.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Really, Hey, are you ready to retire? Huh?
- 5:19Speaker 1: Absolutely not? I said, when when three years from now,
- 5:23Speaker 1: when Tyler Shunk is.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Some good, good years ahead of you?
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 5:27Speaker 2: Absolutely, Come on, I got I got an amazing team,
- 5:30Speaker 2: and you said I am her.
- 5:31Speaker 5: I'm saying you are him.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so true, so true.
- 5:37Speaker 2: So tell us what you're up to now and like,
- 5:38Speaker 2: I mean, I know, like you used to work for
- 5:40Speaker 2: Nike and I was like, dang when she come in,
- 5:41Speaker 2: I got to ask her for the Nike plug.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But you know, what, what's you up to now?
- 5:44Speaker 5: How do you know somebody? You know?
- 5:48Speaker 4: For me just being able to continue to be around
- 5:51Speaker 4: the game and mentor these young ladies.
- 5:54Speaker 5: I love where the W is today.
- 5:57Speaker 4: It's in a space where so many of us when
- 6:00Speaker 4: the league started in ninety seven we wanted to see
- 6:04Speaker 4: where it is right now but didn't know if we would.
- 6:07Speaker 4: The fact that we now have not just female basketball players,
- 6:11Speaker 4: but we have female athletes who are signing million dollar
- 6:15Speaker 4: endorsement deals. True, Yeah, that's that's that's that's pretty crazy
- 6:20Speaker 4: because I don't think any of us ever thought we
- 6:21Speaker 4: would see that day. So other than that, I have
- 6:25Speaker 4: a couple of podcasts. I have my own podcasts that
- 6:28Speaker 4: we will actually be right here on the Dicks Sporting
- 6:32Speaker 4: Good stage tomorrow.
- 6:34Speaker 5: It's called levels to this.
- 6:36Speaker 1: We got good levels because because it's.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Levels to the stuff I won't say the other words
- 6:45Speaker 4: levels to the stuff.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Absolutely that we go through. You're also a commentator for
- 6:49Speaker 1: the Athletes.
- 6:49Speaker 4: To United or Athletes Limited yeah, which I enjoy doing.
- 6:55Speaker 4: There's just so much talent out there right now, and
- 7:00Speaker 4: unfortunately the W doesn't have not only enough teams, but
- 7:04Speaker 4: doesn't have enough roster spots. So I love the fact
- 7:07Speaker 4: that athletes unlimited, it's another pro league.
- 7:09Speaker 5: It gives women an opportunity to stay here and play.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Right, you have unrival, which gives women another opportunity to
- 7:15Speaker 4: stay here and play and to make some money. Like,
- 7:19Speaker 4: I love everything about where women's sports is headed right now.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Absolutely. I'll say, you see girls get drafted. If they're
- 7:27Speaker 2: not in the first round, you're able to get cut
- 7:30Speaker 2: like immediately, which is wild because again, you know, football
- 7:33Speaker 2: normally there's a development program the first, second, third, fourth round.
- 7:36Speaker 1: You're normally safe. Women, it's it's getting now, it's getting now.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Can you can you contend now?
- 7:42Speaker 4: And you know, and to be honest with you, sometimes
- 7:46Speaker 4: some of those that go in.
- 7:47Speaker 5: The first round get gone.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Yes, like but but I yes, there aren't enough teams,
- 7:53Speaker 4: there aren't enough roster spots.
- 7:54Speaker 5: But I also don't.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Think people truly understand the talent level that's in the W,
- 8:00Speaker 4: Like they're not just out there kind of going through
- 8:03Speaker 4: the motions like they are competing, and it's very different
- 8:07Speaker 4: going from college to the pros because now it's a job, right,
- 8:11Speaker 4: so you have these women coming in from college that
- 8:13Speaker 4: are trying to come and get your job for sure.
- 8:17Speaker 2: And so trades that happened. You know, see my girl
- 8:20Speaker 2: Sophie Cunningham go from the Mercury. Now she's over Indiana,
- 8:24Speaker 2: we pick up. So I'm not like, you know, I'm like,
- 8:28Speaker 2: I'm just it.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Was, you know, the free agency, the moves, all the
- 8:33Speaker 4: things that happened this offseason in the wh it was
- 8:37Speaker 4: it was interesting. I would say that it was some
- 8:39Speaker 4: very interesting moves that happened in the w and BA
- 8:42Speaker 4: this offseason.
- 8:42Speaker 5: That part, but I'm here for it.
- 8:44Speaker 1: That being said, we have focusing on basketball again.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Just thinking about two years ago we started implementing what
- 8:50Speaker 2: is it, the Commissioner's.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Cup, Right, how does how does that even work? Like
- 8:55Speaker 1: I clearly don't understand.
- 8:56Speaker 2: You've got you've got a finals, but you've got it
- 8:59Speaker 2: in seasons.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Well, you know, like it's played like as football.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm like, okay, they need something to play
- 9:06Speaker 2: with because there's eighty two games or you know for
- 9:08Speaker 2: the WBA there's a little less.
- 9:10Speaker 1: But you were having in season playoff for a playoff
- 9:12Speaker 1: to come up.
- 9:13Speaker 5: In season tournament.
- 9:14Speaker 1: There we go.
- 9:15Speaker 4: So I actually believe the w started the Commissioner's Cup
- 9:20Speaker 4: before the NBA started their inn season tournament. So I
- 9:24Speaker 4: think the NBA looked at the Commissioner's Cup and said, oh,
- 9:28Speaker 4: they may have something here, so let's try it. Right,
- 9:31Speaker 4: It's it is different from what the men are doing.
- 9:34Speaker 4: But what I love about it is, yeah, we don't
- 9:37Speaker 4: play as many games, but they're still playing for a bag.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Like you put some money on the line. They want
- 9:43Speaker 5: to compete and play hard.
- 9:46Speaker 4: And what I love about this year is you have
- 9:49Speaker 4: Minnesota who's gonna try and defend their Commissioner's Cup title,
- 9:53Speaker 4: playing against a new team in the finals, the Indiana Fever.
- 9:57Speaker 1: And I'll just be reading a room for an afeast
- 9:59Speaker 1: of the whole way. Come on, man like that.
- 10:03Speaker 4: If I had to, if I got to vote, and
- 10:05Speaker 4: I had to vote today, it's her.
- 10:07Speaker 5: He is by far the m v P right now.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I don't know enough to call her feet, So she's
- 10:11Speaker 1: in the feast of the met.
- 10:16Speaker 5: M VP right now.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Absolutely, just say, Minnesota, Lynks, that's just so great that
- 10:22Speaker 2: they're sort of back in the revolution to I mean
- 10:24Speaker 2: back in twenty eleven when I got drafted. You can,
- 10:26Speaker 2: I can vividly remember being in Bristol and seeing the
- 10:30Speaker 2: w n B A draft in Maya more being drafted
- 10:33Speaker 2: that year, right, yeah, fifteen years later.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Crazy, but they're they're they're back in contention. You know.
- 10:38Speaker 2: It's just a full circle situation where the winner of
- 10:41Speaker 2: the Commissioner's Cup gets five hundred grand.
- 10:44Speaker 5: Plus they split it. Okay, yeah, I saw that number.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I say, is that for every player?
- 10:48Speaker 5: Man, they ain't got that kind of money?
- 10:50Speaker 1: Okay, cool? Cool, Google realistic, realistic.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Eleven players to split five hundred k.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Yeah, forty five, forty eight something around there.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Yeah, plus plus another five bands and cryptocurrency which kept pooon.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I'm not gonna tell you to get some bigcoin, but
- 11:08Speaker 1: it could.
- 11:08Speaker 5: Poom get to bitcoin.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Yeah right, yeah, yeah, you're right, you're right, you're right.
- 11:13Speaker 2: We're not here to push that right now. Think about
- 11:16Speaker 2: just what we're talking about. Who wait, who won the
- 11:20Speaker 2: I'll say nd season tournament really doesn't lead to who's
- 11:22Speaker 2: gonna win the championship though. NBA we had Milwaukee win
- 11:26Speaker 2: the n season championship and they're not even no, Yeah,
- 11:30Speaker 2: so it's not indicative of what what was coming up.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I think Lakers won the n season championship and we
- 11:35Speaker 2: know they didn't make it. Sorry, I'm a Laker hater
- 11:37Speaker 2: for any fans out there.
- 11:38Speaker 5: I'm the Laker fans right here.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Yeah, we're in New York. We should be safe because
- 11:42Speaker 1: I'm a Laker hater for sure.
- 11:45Speaker 5: I like, I don't say any Laker fans right here.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah, when you said when you said, uh, when you
- 11:50Speaker 2: said the w n b A was going through was
- 11:52Speaker 2: going through a movement, what did you mean by that
- 11:53Speaker 2: when you say they had in the right direction?
- 11:55Speaker 5: I'm sorry I had to acknowledge her T shirt because
- 11:57Speaker 5: I love that. I like that shot. I'm sorry none
- 12:03Speaker 5: of earlier.
- 12:04Speaker 2: You said WBA was going through a movement and you
- 12:06Speaker 2: like where it was headed. When you said movement, what
- 12:08Speaker 2: did you mean by that?
- 12:09Speaker 1: Per se?
- 12:10Speaker 5: Well, I mean listen when the.
- 12:14Speaker 4: So I keep up with how old the league is
- 12:16Speaker 4: because my son will be twenty eight in June.
- 12:19Speaker 5: So when I gave birth to my son, it was
- 12:22Speaker 5: the first game in the WNBA.
- 12:25Speaker 4: And like I tell people this all the time, the talent,
- 12:30Speaker 4: to me, the talent has always been good. The difference
- 12:35Speaker 4: today is there are way more eyes on the league,
- 12:39Speaker 4: way more eyes on the league, way more fans in
- 12:42Speaker 4: the league. Just the competitiveness that these ladies are showing
- 12:47Speaker 4: every single game, day in day out.
- 12:50Speaker 5: I think when I.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Say, it's not a moment, it's a movement, Like people
- 12:54Speaker 4: are actually excited to watch and tune.
- 12:57Speaker 5: In to the WNBA.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Anytime you have seeing inn first take any of those
- 13:05Speaker 4: leading off with something that has to.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Do with the WNBA.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of people would say, then we've made it,
- 13:12Speaker 4: And I say, unfortunately, right, it takes things like that
- 13:17Speaker 4: for people to talk about the WNBA, for people to say, oh,
- 13:20Speaker 4: let me tune in, let me check it out. But
- 13:23Speaker 4: I will say this, I love everything about where the
- 13:27Speaker 4: game is, where it's headed. I love the competitiveness. I
- 13:31Speaker 4: love the physicality.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Of the game. Like that's a whole different conversation we
- 13:35Speaker 5: can have.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Like then, physical in the WNBA is nothing new, Like
- 13:40Speaker 4: it's it's.
- 13:42Speaker 5: It's always been that way.
- 13:44Speaker 4: My question is why is it okay for the men
- 13:49Speaker 4: to be physical but it's not okay for the women
- 13:51Speaker 4: to be physical?
- 13:52Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Look, I've been watching games as far back as like
- 13:56Speaker 2: Britney Grinder's rookie year almost said freshman year, so that
- 13:59Speaker 2: it's make enough sense. But you know, like she's always
- 14:02Speaker 2: been physical to play with. So I don't I don't
- 14:04Speaker 2: know our Mercury basketball, we don't play that. We play
- 14:06Speaker 2: physical out there, Mercury.
- 14:08Speaker 5: What you're talking about today's Mercury. Yeah, I mean before
- 14:11Speaker 5: Mercury right now? Now because both of them, do y'all
- 14:15Speaker 5: have a T on your team? Now, y'all play physical absolutely?
- 14:18Speaker 1: Then we had d T on the team too, like Diana.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Who plays physical absolutely.
- 14:22Speaker 4: But I would say this, I don't know if people
- 14:25Speaker 4: and I'll say like the new fans, I don't know
- 14:29Speaker 4: if people truly understand the difference though, in being physical
- 14:33Speaker 4: and being dirty, because it's different.
- 14:36Speaker 2: It's a fine line. There is a difference, but there's
- 14:39Speaker 2: a fine line. You think about the Cherry Pistons, bad
- 14:41Speaker 2: boys back in the gap.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Label them what they were.
- 14:45Speaker 5: They were, they were dirty, all right.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Cool, as long as you said it. I got I
- 14:49Speaker 2: got people out there that I always ride from, like
- 14:51Speaker 2: many exactly perfect. I'm a transition to cut to some
- 14:58Speaker 2: fan questions.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Knew he was coming in. Put it out. Ig Ig
- 15:01Speaker 1: has a couple of responses. So I only have a
- 15:03Speaker 1: couple of questions for you from the fans. Knock them
- 15:05Speaker 1: out from the fans.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Let's see what memory do you go back to most
- 15:10Speaker 2: from your playing days where you need to pick me up.
- 15:13Speaker 5: I used to be a buth hot no when I
- 15:17Speaker 5: need to pick me up.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I crossed over.
- 15:22Speaker 4: No for me, like the fact that with Houston we
- 15:28Speaker 4: won the very first four championships, like in a row.
- 15:34Speaker 4: I don't care what sport it is, male, female, Like, like,
- 15:38Speaker 4: that's hard to do.
- 15:39Speaker 5: It's hard to win one championship, let alone.
- 15:43Speaker 4: And then so when when I go back and I
- 15:47Speaker 4: think about my playing days, I absolutely have to think
- 15:51Speaker 4: about what we were able to do the first four
- 15:53Speaker 4: years in the w n.
- 15:54Speaker 5: B A and and winning four championships.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I love that because I like, you still wear your
- 15:59Speaker 1: rhetoring the more.
- 16:00Speaker 2: When I went to Super Bowl with the Saints, the
- 16:02Speaker 2: wedding ring goes and Upper places it, and I'm like,
- 16:04Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm married, but you gotta watch my ring though,
- 16:07Speaker 2: Like I can't.
- 16:09Speaker 5: You get the rings to go on different fingers.
- 16:11Speaker 2: All right, So I just need to start off with
- 16:13Speaker 2: the one I don't. I don't know about multiple fingers.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Come on, come on, smister Ratler, come on, Tyler shuck.
- 16:19Speaker 1: We can do it. Looking looking back, how surreal doesn't.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Feel to be in the position you are in now, Legend,
- 16:28Speaker 2: Hall of Famer, multiple championship winner.
- 16:32Speaker 5: I'm I'm very I'm very blessed.
- 16:35Speaker 4: I will tell you that I don't know, like I
- 16:39Speaker 4: don't know if I ever thought basketball would.
- 16:43Speaker 5: Like change my life, right. I never set.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Out playing the game to be a legend, per se.
- 16:52Speaker 4: I played the game because I loved it. There was
- 16:54Speaker 4: there was something about me and a basketball, and it didn't.
- 16:58Speaker 5: Have to have anyone else on the court.
- 17:00Speaker 4: I just really enjoyed what I was able to do
- 17:03Speaker 4: with the basketball.
- 17:05Speaker 5: I will say to to sit here today.
- 17:08Speaker 4: And watch the game and watch the amazing, incredible talent
- 17:12Speaker 4: that continues to come through the league, I'm I'm I'm honored.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Like I'm honored that a lot of these players still,
- 17:20Speaker 4: you know, reach out to me and they want to
- 17:22Speaker 4: talk to me. And you know, Asia a couple of
- 17:25Speaker 4: years ago, was like, how did you how tell me?
- 17:27Speaker 4: How did you do it? How did you repeat? It's
- 17:30Speaker 4: it's just a great feeling to know that you're you're
- 17:33Speaker 4: appreciated for what you gave to the game, and the
- 17:36Speaker 4: fans continue to.
- 17:38Speaker 5: Appreciate you for that.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Don't get me wrong, there are some who are like, who, well,
- 17:43Speaker 4: they're just haters.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Haters.
- 17:47Speaker 2: You know, you winning a championship at every level, high school,
- 17:51Speaker 2: you know, national champions at Texas Tech, multiple championships in
- 17:55Speaker 2: the w NBA. That competitive drive has that always been
- 17:58Speaker 2: there where you was always like the first in line,
- 17:59Speaker 2: like at the front, like, yeah, I'll beat you here,
- 18:01Speaker 2: like you have you know, like, tell me how either
- 18:04Speaker 2: tell me how you got your competitive drive?
- 18:06Speaker 1: How you got that? I need it.
- 18:08Speaker 4: I grew up with with two I have two older
- 18:10Speaker 4: brothers and a younger brother, so I was the only
- 18:13Speaker 4: girl and I got beat up all the time.
- 18:15Speaker 5: And you know, the only way my mom.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Would let me go do stuff is if I was
- 18:19Speaker 4: going to do it with my brothers. But I think
- 18:22Speaker 4: for me, it was just something that at a very
- 18:24Speaker 4: young age was instilled in me and watching my brothers,
- 18:28Speaker 4: but also watching how just watching my mom. My mom
- 18:33Speaker 4: played softball. But I always wanted to be the best
- 18:38Speaker 4: like whatever I was doing, and I was never okay
- 18:41Speaker 4: with just being okay. So I always thought there was
- 18:46Speaker 4: somebody somewhere in this world that was working a little
- 18:49Speaker 4: bit harder than me, and that never sat right with
- 18:53Speaker 4: me because I wanted to be the absolute best at
- 18:57Speaker 4: everything I did.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I hear that part like this, That's why I enjoy
- 19:01Speaker 2: like those dog days of training when you're like you
- 19:03Speaker 2: got nothing left.
- 19:04Speaker 1: And you're like, you know what, there's probably some little.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Nil talented kid out there grinding right now trying to
- 19:09Speaker 2: get a bigger bag. I'm gonna hit this last extra sprint.
- 19:14Speaker 5: NIL very different.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm clearly.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Laughing at that part because they don't get it like
- 19:18Speaker 2: we used to. I'm not gonna lie to. NIL has
- 19:20Speaker 2: made the game softer, and.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I'm here for it. I'm like, oh, you got a adversity,
- 19:25Speaker 1: you're hurting, You're gonna transfer? Cool? No, I stuck mine
- 19:28Speaker 1: out about that. I love it.
- 19:30Speaker 2: I pay the players now, they just pay them what
- 19:32Speaker 2: they owe, Like I hate that I had to struggle
- 19:35Speaker 2: through college and like become a bouncer and become a
- 19:37Speaker 2: peer advisor.
- 19:38Speaker 1: There was other jobs, Like if I could have just focused.
- 19:39Speaker 2: On football, I would have loved it, But at the
- 19:41Speaker 2: same time, it also defined what I what I felt
- 19:44Speaker 2: like I needed.
- 19:45Speaker 5: But do you do.
- 19:46Speaker 4: You think, because I love it too to a certain degree,
- 19:50Speaker 4: do you think it's changed the.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Game, Because there's always there's always been.
- 19:56Speaker 2: You've always had teammates that did it for the love
- 19:58Speaker 2: of the money, or the love of the adolation, the
- 20:01Speaker 2: exactly the adilation, the adoration, the statistics of it. All
- 20:06Speaker 2: that drop statistics long before they drop hey, I'm actually
- 20:09Speaker 2: a good team player, like man, I dropped twenty oh
- 20:12Speaker 2: man a masco of four touchdowns. But they don't say hey,
- 20:14Speaker 2: like I made my teammates better, or they always like,
- 20:16Speaker 2: oh man, I hate bruh. Like you know what I'm saying.
- 20:18Speaker 2: I went for two tuddies whatever it is. I was like,
- 20:20Speaker 2: I got this contract coming up. You can feel the
- 20:22Speaker 2: money grabbers, the attention grabbers, but I want real football players.
- 20:26Speaker 2: And then il sort of like weans that out. It
- 20:28Speaker 2: shows you who you are at eighteen nineteen twenty. You
- 20:31Speaker 2: give a kid, I'm not gonna put nose on it,
- 20:34Speaker 2: but you see you seet on numbers at getting you
- 20:36Speaker 2: get a kid like that. It shows me if you're
- 20:38Speaker 2: willing to work or you're working for the money. If
- 20:41Speaker 2: you're working for the money, take it and go.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Weed them out now.
- 20:45Speaker 2: But if you're here for the game, the money is cool.
- 20:47Speaker 2: I love that I can take care of my mom.
- 20:48Speaker 2: I love that I can take care of my family.
- 20:50Speaker 2: That's great. But I'm here because I want to be here.
- 20:52Speaker 2: I'm here because I feel like I can be the best,
- 20:55Speaker 2: and I want to be the best, and to be
- 20:56Speaker 2: the best, I don't need I don't need bread. I
- 20:59Speaker 2: appreciate the breads and I have to worry about feeding
- 21:01Speaker 2: the film. But I'm here for the sacks. I'm here
- 21:04Speaker 2: for the winds. I'm here for making my teammates better
- 21:07Speaker 2: and hoping that they want to be like me. Because
- 21:10Speaker 2: if I'm out here running my ad, their air off,
- 21:12Speaker 2: poster ear off, if I'm grinding the way I am,
- 21:15Speaker 2: I want you to see it and be like, dang,
- 21:17Speaker 2: that's what he's doing to get to where he got,
- 21:18Speaker 2: that's how he's all pro Well, Dang, if I he's.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Doing that, I can beat him. No you can't. And
- 21:23Speaker 1: if you can't, come show me.
- 21:24Speaker 2: And I still like I have that, like I need that,
- 21:26Speaker 2: and I'm trying to steal that in the next wave
- 21:28Speaker 2: of kids.
- 21:29Speaker 1: You don't see it like that. They're like, oh yeah,
- 21:31Speaker 1: I'm getting a big dog.
- 21:33Speaker 4: But yeah, but that but you're talking about as a professional.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:39Speaker 4: But to me when I think about nil, right, and
- 21:43Speaker 4: it might feel a little different on the women's side
- 21:46Speaker 4: because now when it comes to recruiting, like one of
- 21:50Speaker 4: the first questions is how much money you got?
- 21:53Speaker 1: I need my money?
- 21:54Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 21:55Speaker 1: So that is that from the kids or the parents?
- 21:58Speaker 5: Oh? I think it's both. I definitely think it's the parents.
- 22:02Speaker 4: It's like, no, you're gonna go over here because they're
- 22:04Speaker 4: gonna pay you five hundred thousand more than this school and.
- 22:07Speaker 5: They don't care about playing time.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Is it a good fit for you? Are you a
- 22:12Speaker 4: good fit for them? How is the coaching staff? I
- 22:15Speaker 4: just I do. I honestly do think the nil situation
- 22:19Speaker 4: it has changed the collegiate game.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, there's there's no they're pro ams. I
- 22:27Speaker 2: mean they're really they're really pro. They're getting paid to produce.
- 22:30Speaker 5: So so how so how excited go bears?
- 22:35Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah?
- 22:36Speaker 5: So?
- 22:36Speaker 4: How how excited do you think it makes the players
- 22:44Speaker 4: who are making all this money in college now they're
- 22:46Speaker 4: going pro right?
- 22:47Speaker 1: Taking a pay cut sometimes?
- 22:49Speaker 5: Yeah, especial especially on the women's side.
- 22:53Speaker 2: But I mean, the odds of you making out. Are
- 22:54Speaker 2: you doing what you're doing that's completely different, Like you
- 22:57Speaker 2: had everything stacked against you, and yeah, when you came out,
- 23:00Speaker 2: everybody was like she could be she really play the NBA.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Seryf soops is like that, stay tuned, we'll be right back.
- 23:09Speaker 1: You played. You played a one on one game with
- 23:10Speaker 1: Michael Jordan. I still want to talk about.
- 23:12Speaker 5: It, like he played one on one game with me.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Continue and that's why she's her. Okay, no, let.
- 23:23Speaker 4: You Michael Jordan was my role model growing up.
- 23:28Speaker 5: Let let me say this. I do not now.
- 23:34Speaker 4: I do not think I could have played in the NBA.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Huh.
- 23:40Speaker 4: It's it's just it's not to take anything away from
- 23:44Speaker 4: like the game and the talent, but it's it's different.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Like man, y'all are just built different than we are,
- 23:52Speaker 4: Like you're naturally bigger, stronger, taller, all those things, not
- 23:58Speaker 4: more skilled, but all the other things as you are.
- 24:02Speaker 4: But Michael Jordan for me was everything like he is
- 24:07Speaker 4: my goat. He's yes, he will forever be my goat.
- 24:12Speaker 4: But what what I really appreciated about mj was it
- 24:16Speaker 4: didn't matter if you were his teammate or not, what
- 24:19Speaker 4: sport he was playing, like he was coming for your neck.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Just very competitive, and if you watch the documentary, you
- 24:27Speaker 4: know a lot of people were like, dang, I had
- 24:29Speaker 4: no idea.
- 24:29Speaker 5: He was like I was out.
- 24:30Speaker 2: There taking money from the little little assistant guards facts.
- 24:34Speaker 4: You know, because Mike had the mentality, does that mean
- 24:37Speaker 4: you played for money?
- 24:39Speaker 5: Play for money. I ain't had no money to be playing. Now.
- 24:45Speaker 5: We played for pride. We played for pride.
- 24:47Speaker 1: There we go.
- 24:48Speaker 4: But I just I left his mindset of if you're
- 24:51Speaker 4: not helping me, you're in the way, right Like I'm
- 24:55Speaker 4: trying to go get a championship every single year, and
- 24:59Speaker 4: whether that's a team made or an opponent, you're in
- 25:02Speaker 4: my way.
- 25:03Speaker 5: And that was never okay.
- 25:05Speaker 4: But for me to have an opportunity to meet him,
- 25:08Speaker 4: oh gosh, that was so many years ago and play.
- 25:10Speaker 5: One on one with him.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Is absolutely at the top of my damn. I can't
- 25:16Speaker 4: believe I did that.
- 25:17Speaker 1: You said he played with you, which let me know
- 25:20Speaker 1: you won. That's a bragging right right there, Like you
- 25:24Speaker 1: run me.
- 25:25Speaker 5: That didn't Okay, I didn't.
- 25:27Speaker 1: He did.
- 25:28Speaker 4: He did try to dunk on me, though I didn't.
- 25:31Speaker 4: That happened, okay, cool, cool that pride. No, I just
- 25:35Speaker 4: grabbed him out of the air and just pulled him
- 25:38Speaker 4: out of the air, like, Mike, I love you and I.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Don't want to hurt you. Don't do this.
- 25:42Speaker 5: The pride. The pride would not let that happen.
- 25:45Speaker 1: All right, did y'all? Do y'all at least do like
- 25:47Speaker 1: a jersey swap, Like.
- 25:48Speaker 5: I got his T shirt.
- 25:49Speaker 1: There we go.
- 25:50Speaker 4: I got his North Carolina one of his favorite North
- 25:53Speaker 4: Carolina T shirts.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Great, okay, yeah, look that's what I'm saying, because it
- 25:58Speaker 2: was like, fine, No.
- 26:00Speaker 5: That thing that makes a person it is Michael Jordan.
- 26:02Speaker 1: You said he's your goat.
- 26:03Speaker 5: It is Michael Jordan. What's your goat?
- 26:06Speaker 1: Huh what? I'm sponsored by Jordan?
- 26:08Speaker 2: So I will only have one answer, Thank you Michael
- 26:12Speaker 2: for all the goods up over the years.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I will. I will never say anything.
- 26:17Speaker 5: Other otherwise, who's your second goat?
- 26:20Speaker 1: Because I didn't get to watch two three growing up.
- 26:22Speaker 2: I watched four or five at the Wizards, so I
- 26:25Speaker 2: saw the.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Tail end like I didn't so his farewell game.
- 26:28Speaker 2: I didn't see it like I saw Kobe's farewell game
- 26:30Speaker 2: where he dropped sixty and I'm a Laker hater. I
- 26:32Speaker 2: was like, yeah, you know, I see Lebron at forty
- 26:37Speaker 2: still dunking on Cats, is doing Yeah, he's like forty five,
- 26:40Speaker 2: playing with this kid like yaming on Cats and still
- 26:43Speaker 2: one of the better guys on his team. So I like,
- 26:47Speaker 2: I mean second place, Yeah, second place is what's Lebron
- 26:51Speaker 2: leaves the Lakers. I'll say it's Lebron. I'm a Laker hater,
- 26:54Speaker 2: so I just I can't anoint the Lakers cat I
- 26:56Speaker 2: say here and Steve Nash, I'm clearly a Suns fan.
- 27:03Speaker 2: I'm jaded, and that's okay. Yeah, Chris Paul worms Yeah,
- 27:09Speaker 2: for sure for impact, for impact alone, nobody has ever
- 27:12Speaker 2: had more hype around and delivered more like you. Normally
- 27:16Speaker 2: you're a number one overall pick. You're like, yo, he's
- 27:17Speaker 2: gonna be a consensus Hall of Famer. But we've been
- 27:20Speaker 2: saying that about Lebron since he was like fourteen and
- 27:22Speaker 2: everything that we was like, he's gonna win a championship
- 27:24Speaker 2: in Cleveland. I'm sure he didn't do it the first time,
- 27:26Speaker 2: but he rounded back. Yeah, Hey, you know what I
- 27:28Speaker 2: got for you this dub. Yeah, and so like once again,
- 27:31Speaker 2: once he leaves the Lakers, I'll be I'll be back
- 27:34Speaker 2: on the he's the second greatest of all time, and
- 27:36Speaker 2: we can argue years and years around. Once he finishes
- 27:39Speaker 2: in the gold conversation, he can't be a goat because
- 27:41Speaker 2: he hasn't finished yet. Once we finish, say that again,
- 27:45Speaker 2: like he's still current, so like, once he finishes and
- 27:49Speaker 2: then he like established, we know the whole story of
- 27:52Speaker 2: the of the legacy, we'll talk about it.
- 27:54Speaker 4: That's so so that that's what I think. I think
- 27:58Speaker 4: we use the term go way too.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Oh we throw that are easy, like.
- 28:03Speaker 5: Everybody's a goat nowadays.
- 28:04Speaker 2: And generational talent, the bane of my the crooks of
- 28:09Speaker 2: my bane, like just yeah, like, don't throw generational out there.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Generational is once every generation, once every twenty to thirty,
- 28:16Speaker 2: like a cycle like fifteen to twenty years. You can
- 28:18Speaker 2: be generational, but we throw that out there a lot
- 28:21Speaker 2: all the time.
- 28:22Speaker 4: And my thing is, you can be a really good player,
- 28:26Speaker 4: but if you're to your point, if you're still playing
- 28:29Speaker 4: the game, I don't know how you can be the goat.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Right, greatest of all time? Currently, Good to see you, silent,
- 28:40Speaker 2: oh man, you.
- 28:41Speaker 5: Ac to see your silentce. That was good.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, yeah, you know, I think at this is
- 28:47Speaker 2: a great time I thought about this. I was like,
- 28:48Speaker 2: I was looking at your shoes, looking at my shoes,
- 28:50Speaker 2: but you used to have your own signature shoe.
- 28:53Speaker 5: I did, did I did Swoop?
- 28:57Speaker 1: Yeah? What is that? What does that feel like? I
- 29:00Speaker 1: ain't even had them. I ain't even have my own
- 29:02Speaker 1: color way before.
- 29:02Speaker 2: I've got like I've got like Jordan cleet pees, but
- 29:05Speaker 2: pees are not your own cleat.
- 29:08Speaker 1: It's on a one, it's on a twelve, it's on
- 29:10Speaker 1: But people.
- 29:11Speaker 5: Don't People don't understand that.
- 29:14Speaker 4: Like when you talk about signature shoes and having your
- 29:19Speaker 4: own shoe, that means it's your shoe with your name.
- 29:22Speaker 4: So at the time when I got my shoe, it
- 29:26Speaker 4: was Michael Jordan and Cheryl.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Swoops indeed, And.
- 29:34Speaker 4: I don't know, it was like a surreal moment for
- 29:37Speaker 4: me because I never, like growing up, I never said
- 29:41Speaker 4: someday I'll have my own shoe. That wasn't something that
- 29:43Speaker 4: was on my bucket list or something that I wrote down.
- 29:45Speaker 4: But I have to say, being not only being the
- 29:49Speaker 4: first female WNBA basketball player to have a signature shoe,
- 29:55Speaker 4: but to be the first black female there's something special
- 29:59Speaker 4: about at and now thirty years later, we have the
- 30:06Speaker 4: second black woman in Asia Wilson and her a ones
- 30:12Speaker 4: for me to still be around to see it, and
- 30:16Speaker 4: to me, what makes this so special and different is
- 30:18Speaker 4: it's not just a shoe, Like Asia has an entire line.
- 30:22Speaker 4: She has the flip flop, she has the leggings, the shorts,
- 30:26Speaker 4: the hoodies, the T shirts, the all the.
- 30:28Speaker 5: Things she has the amazing commercial.
- 30:33Speaker 4: I just love to see how far the game has come,
- 30:37Speaker 4: how far it's grown, and the fact that the shoe
- 30:41Speaker 4: is made big enough for men to be able to
- 30:44Speaker 4: wear it. When when Nike did my shoe back in
- 30:48Speaker 4: nineteen ninety seven, they only made it up to a
- 30:51Speaker 4: women's size eleven, so men couldn't wear the shoe. But
- 30:55Speaker 4: it was just such an incredible moment and a special
- 30:59Speaker 4: moment to do something out of the box that had
- 31:01Speaker 4: never been done before. And now to see how far
- 31:05Speaker 4: we've come with so many females now having their own
- 31:09Speaker 4: signature shoe, not a pe, but their own signature shoe,
- 31:12Speaker 4: right like the growth of.
- 31:14Speaker 5: The game, it's we're just in a good place.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I'll say it sellout crowds now, it's it's a fun time.
- 31:21Speaker 2: I remember going to games when I was younger, it
- 31:24Speaker 2: wasn't like that. And now that I can bring the
- 31:26Speaker 2: whole family, you know, now it's it's very family friendly
- 31:30Speaker 2: to be a to be a to be a beans
- 31:32Speaker 2: you know, don't do this, we'll talk about you know,
- 31:36Speaker 2: but that's okay, Like it's very family like if they want,
- 31:39Speaker 2: like they want families to be there. Now they want
- 31:42Speaker 2: the game to be more integrally like inclusive of of like, oh,
- 31:46Speaker 2: these girls are getting it and let's highlight these women.
- 31:48Speaker 1: And now I mean probably like prominent.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Social media has helped in a large way, sure, for sure,
- 31:54Speaker 2: but it's also just like now you know your actual players,
- 31:57Speaker 2: like we could talk about multiple players instead of like,
- 31:59Speaker 2: oh I know Ryl, I know who else I know,
- 32:03Speaker 2: Like there's like, instead of a Marquee player, now you
- 32:05Speaker 2: know a team.
- 32:06Speaker 4: Well, it's it's everything from from social media. So fans
- 32:11Speaker 4: feel like they have a connection with you, like fans
- 32:14Speaker 4: feel like I know who you are through social media.
- 32:17Speaker 4: But then it's also you bring your fan base from college,
- 32:21Speaker 4: so they're gonna follow you. But to me, one of
- 32:24Speaker 4: the biggest differences besides social.
- 32:26Speaker 5: Media is the games are now on.
- 32:30Speaker 4: Television, They're in places where you can find them easily.
- 32:33Speaker 4: Like back in the day when I played, we were
- 32:35Speaker 4: on Lifetime.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Don't la okayan.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Like I gotta, I gotta, I got a grandma. We
- 32:51Speaker 2: susedd we should say a Lifetime. You know that was
- 32:53Speaker 2: all where all her movies came on Lifetime or Hallmark Originals,
- 32:56Speaker 2: you know, like it was that was that was that era.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Listen and I'm like, we went from Lifetime to ESPN, ABC,
- 33:05Speaker 4: ESPN two. Now we are on Ion, so you can
- 33:10Speaker 4: get some you can get your Chicago PD and then
- 33:12Speaker 4: you can go watch some w n B.
- 33:15Speaker 1: A see. That's Look, that's how much the game has evolved.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I mean, speaking of evolution and just reactions to that
- 33:23Speaker 2: new question would could be hot incoming. I love doing
- 33:26Speaker 2: this live because I need to know what do you
- 33:28Speaker 2: think about this picture?
- 33:31Speaker 1: Coming up? Look up? Look up behind you? Yeah, go
- 33:36Speaker 1: ahead check it out. I come on, Ma, I'm just saying,
- 33:45Speaker 1: how do you how do you? How do you feel
- 33:46Speaker 1: about this picture? Yeah?
- 33:49Speaker 5: Come on man?
- 33:50Speaker 1: Nostalgia nostalgia dons Daley.
- 33:54Speaker 5: You know that was a Caroli head coach before or
- 33:58Speaker 5: after the ninety six.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Eleve just obtaining another goal, hanging out with Martin.
- 34:04Speaker 4: It was a fun time. I would tell you that much.
- 34:08Speaker 4: It was a fun time to hang out, and they
- 34:12Speaker 4: still show it.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 34:14Speaker 5: I said that you see it.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Huh, that's what I'm saying.
- 34:20Speaker 2: You was on Martin Man like in the nineties, that big,
- 34:23Speaker 2: that's that's legendary. Yeah, you didn't think you see that today? No,
- 34:28Speaker 2: how to make you feel you remember that one?
- 34:31Speaker 4: It took me back a little bit. I every time
- 34:36Speaker 4: I see different pictures, the first thing I look at
- 34:38Speaker 4: is my hairstyle, and I'm like, what was I thinking
- 34:42Speaker 4: in that picture?
- 34:43Speaker 5: But that that hairstyles?
- 34:44Speaker 4: Alright, Yeah, that's why I didn't want to look I
- 34:48Speaker 4: was like, what picture is this gonna be?
- 34:52Speaker 1: You know? Fine?
- 34:55Speaker 5: I love your hair, by the way, I appreciate it.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I hate it, but like you hate it, you don't
- 35:00Speaker 2: have to love every hairstyle you do.
- 35:01Speaker 1: I was like, you know, I was.
- 35:03Speaker 2: I was on the other cusp of cutting it off,
- 35:05Speaker 2: and I was like, you know what I was watching.
- 35:08Speaker 2: I was like three episodes into the House of Dragons
- 35:11Speaker 2: and you know, Corlis with Valeria.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Came through and I was like, hell yeah, brother, I
- 35:15Speaker 1: was like, how do we do that? And I was
- 35:17Speaker 1: like I don't.
- 35:18Speaker 2: So I went to the white wife. I was like,
- 35:19Speaker 2: I was like, you got a hair dresser, right, and
- 35:21Speaker 2: she was like she was like yeah. I was like,
- 35:23Speaker 2: I was like, let me do that, and so we
- 35:25Speaker 2: bleased it and then and then I was like I
- 35:26Speaker 2: don't like this, and then we were platinum.
- 35:28Speaker 1: She's like, I was like, plantinum silver. I was like,
- 35:30Speaker 1: come on, I want to write a dragon.
- 35:33Speaker 5: I appreciate that it looks.
- 35:36Speaker 2: I appreciate that. I appreciate that. So when you talk
- 35:41Speaker 2: about you didn't like your hairstyle, Martin, I was like,
- 35:43Speaker 2: what do you mean?
- 35:44Speaker 1: Like you?
- 35:45Speaker 2: I'm here, so like, can we bring back the picture?
- 35:48Speaker 2: Can we bring back this picture? You tell me what
- 35:50Speaker 2: I missed on this, this hairstyle? What you mean you
- 35:53Speaker 2: was glowed? Unless Martin roasted you? Like he roast you
- 35:56Speaker 2: for this?
- 35:56Speaker 4: So like, okay, but there there are some pictures out there.
- 36:01Speaker 2: That didn't not that the episode you had your girls
- 36:05Speaker 2: with you, there's Martin. Martin's roasted everybody back in the
- 36:09Speaker 2: gay Did you roast him?
- 36:11Speaker 1: Did he roast you? Do you remember the episode? Was there?
- 36:14Speaker 1: Was there good? Was there a good dinner? After no?
- 36:17Speaker 5: We hung out? It had a good time. That's all
- 36:19Speaker 5: I'll say.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Wow, was it actually shot in Detroit or was that
- 36:23Speaker 1: shot in la like.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Shot in l A.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, we just hung out.
- 36:28Speaker 5: We actually hung out at his house like all of us.
- 36:30Speaker 5: We had a good time.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Okay, I'll tell you.
- 36:32Speaker 4: The funniest part about shooting this was and if if
- 36:36Speaker 4: any of you have seen the episode so like Cole, yeah,
- 36:42Speaker 4: completely went off script when he was guarding me.
- 36:46Speaker 5: If you remember that party was up top of the No.
- 36:49Speaker 4: He actually no, he actually licked me in my ear
- 36:53Speaker 4: and nowhere was that.
- 36:55Speaker 1: In the strip.
- 36:57Speaker 2: I don't think anybody like and seen lack Cheryl's like
- 37:01Speaker 2: instead of instead of a land Stevenson.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Wow, he literally licked.
- 37:07Speaker 5: Me in my ear and was talking to me and
- 37:11Speaker 5: I was like.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Switch, give me Martin if you don't stop.
- 37:16Speaker 5: And they're like, oh, that's so good, that's so good.
- 37:18Speaker 5: Keep doing that.
- 37:19Speaker 1: I was like, no, it's not right, it's in my ear.
- 37:24Speaker 4: It was, but it was a lot of fun with
- 37:26Speaker 4: Cole and Tommy and Martin.
- 37:28Speaker 2: And Tommy who still don't know who Yeah, I say
- 37:31Speaker 2: recipes Tommy, but we still don't know.
- 37:33Speaker 1: If you ever had a job, yeah, you know, like yeah, okay,
- 37:37Speaker 1: I get it.
- 37:38Speaker 5: He didn't. They said he didn't. He didn't have a job.
- 37:40Speaker 2: He always had money though, fast always have money. We'll
- 37:46Speaker 2: shoot being in the Hall of Fame, I hope one
- 37:49Speaker 2: day get there. You got you got any advice or uh,
- 37:53Speaker 2: you know why you were giving your Hall of Fame speech?
- 37:56Speaker 5: What did you Just like.
- 37:59Speaker 2: I said, do you have any of the giving like
- 38:01Speaker 2: a Hall of Fame speech, the whole the you know,
- 38:03Speaker 2: the grandeur of it all, Like you've accomplished so much.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I feel like I've accomplished a lot.
- 38:09Speaker 4: No, I think you know, the Hall of Fame is
- 38:14Speaker 4: like it's it's the best of the best. It's not
- 38:18Speaker 4: the women's it's not the it's the Hall of Fame.
- 38:20Speaker 5: It's the best of the best.
- 38:22Speaker 4: And even in preparation for my Hall of Fame speech,
- 38:28Speaker 4: I had all of these incredible things that I wanted
- 38:31Speaker 4: to say, and once I got up there, I realized
- 38:36Speaker 4: that for me it was gonna mean more coming from
- 38:39Speaker 4: my heart, Like it was just so many people along
- 38:43Speaker 4: the way, not necessarily on the basketball court, but just
- 38:46Speaker 4: so many people along the way who helped me get
- 38:49Speaker 4: through life right tough times, good times, who always held
- 38:53Speaker 4: me down, always had my back. But for me, my
- 38:56Speaker 4: Hall of Fame speech was really easy because my mom
- 39:01Speaker 4: got diagnosed with colon cancer and the doctor told her
- 39:06Speaker 4: that she wouldn't be able to make the trip with
- 39:08Speaker 4: me to the Hall of Fame, and she said watch me,
- 39:14Speaker 4: so I'm not gonna cry. But that was the last
- 39:17Speaker 4: trip that my mom went with me on before she passed,
- 39:22Speaker 4: So it was just a full circle moment for me
- 39:25Speaker 4: to have her sitting front row, knowing what she was
- 39:29Speaker 4: dealing with. And my mom had always been my toughest critic,
- 39:34Speaker 4: my biggest fan, my biggest supporter, So to be able
- 39:37Speaker 4: to share that moment with her, which is the best
- 39:42Speaker 4: moment ever. To share that moment with her and make
- 39:46Speaker 4: sure she understood how important she was in my life
- 39:49Speaker 4: and the role she played in my life and raising
- 39:51Speaker 4: me to.
- 39:52Speaker 5: Be the woman that I am.
- 39:55Speaker 4: I really don't care what else I said in that speech,
- 39:59Speaker 4: because that moment for me was very important.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Absolutely shout out to the moms out there.
- 40:04Speaker 5: You know what I'm.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Saying, right, the people that have always been in your
- 40:08Speaker 2: corner of the friends, the family that uplift you, the
- 40:10Speaker 2: athletic trainers that took care of us when we were broken.
- 40:13Speaker 5: You know, the all.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Of it, the coaches and even the coaches that didn't
- 40:16Speaker 2: think they had an impact that actually did.
- 40:18Speaker 5: You know, even the coaches I didn't like.
- 40:21Speaker 1: I won't go that far. There's a coach I don't
- 40:22Speaker 1: like it.
- 40:23Speaker 2: I'm okay, if if he tripped or fell in a puddle,
- 40:25Speaker 2: I wouldn't step on his head, but I wouldn't help
- 40:27Speaker 2: him up.
- 40:28Speaker 1: I probably like add water to the side.
- 40:31Speaker 2: In a way, you know, in a very extreme type
- 40:34Speaker 2: of way.
- 40:37Speaker 5: But I probably had a couple that I felt that
- 40:38Speaker 5: way about.
- 40:39Speaker 1: But it's only one in my entire time.
- 40:41Speaker 5: Like, I'm like, who was it?
- 40:43Speaker 1: We'll talk about it when I retire. Yeah.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Yeah, In fact, I come to you and be like this,
- 40:48Speaker 2: my lover here tried me in so many different ways.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, please do.
- 40:54Speaker 5: I'm going to hold you to that.
- 40:56Speaker 2: This has been nothing short of amazing. So, by the way,
- 41:00Speaker 2: she was inducted in the twenty sixteen Hall of Fame
- 41:03Speaker 2: class had guys like Shock Shaquille O'Neill, y'ao mean, Alan Iverson,
- 41:07Speaker 2: so like with a whole bunch of him, she was
- 41:09Speaker 2: her you know.
- 41:10Speaker 5: Hope I like that.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that.
- 41:14Speaker 5: I said.
- 41:15Speaker 4: Then in twenty sixteen that my class was the best class.
- 41:19Speaker 1: I like that.
- 41:20Speaker 2: I think my draft class twenty eleven was the best
- 41:23Speaker 2: class draft class ever.
- 41:24Speaker 5: You're supposed to think that.
- 41:26Speaker 2: I mean, it's validated, it's validated to think that. But
- 41:30Speaker 2: I appreciate you so much for sopping AFT. There's the
- 41:32Speaker 2: podcast of me.
