- 0:00Speaker 1: Friday Morning. Here to help you get off to a
- 0:01Speaker 1: great start. At six eight when I was six point
- 0:03Speaker 1: seven Light FM, New York's variety station, I'm Victor Sosa
- 0:06Speaker 1: Infacuby this Morning with Christine and producer Kristin Christine. Apparently
- 0:10Speaker 1: being radio famous is just not enough for you. You've
- 0:13Speaker 1: got to conquer the internet too. What are you doing?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Na take it on? I'm gonna jump on a trend, Victor.
- 0:18Speaker 2: All right, So my friend An Sayer and I just
- 0:21Speaker 2: always looking for wacky diets and stuff. She looks great,
- 0:24Speaker 2: she doesn't need to, but there we've jumped on this
- 0:27Speaker 2: trend called the Tiffany plate. Right, So I thought at first, like, oh,
- 0:31Speaker 2: you get a plate from Tiffany, right, Yeah, yah, I'll
- 0:34Speaker 2: do that. No, it's a Tiffany plate, who's named after
- 0:36Speaker 2: the woman who created this diet plan and supposedly lost
- 0:39Speaker 2: like sixty pounds over the course of a year. Oh
- 0:42Speaker 2: and she did it by putting a rather odd collection
- 0:47Speaker 2: on her plate. And this is all she eats. It's
- 0:49Speaker 2: like a giant piece of chicken sausage. Okay, it's mustard,
- 0:54Speaker 2: and it's cottage cheese and onion cups and let us
- 1:00Speaker 2: and all kinds of veggies, and she just goes in
- 1:03Speaker 2: and dips everything she like, dips the onions and the
- 1:08Speaker 2: chicken sausage into like the mustard and cottage cheese. Oh,
- 1:11Speaker 2: and says that it's a delicious combo. And so people
- 1:14Speaker 2: are doing their own Tiffany plates and trying them and
- 1:19Speaker 2: some are surviving, some are having a harder time and
- 1:22Speaker 2: seeing how they like them and if it helps them
- 1:24Speaker 2: lose weight. And the key is like she has a baby,
- 1:28Speaker 2: the original woman doing this Tiffany, So she's always kind
- 1:31Speaker 2: of whispering because she doesn't want to wait wait for
- 1:33Speaker 2: the baby. So when you go in for your chicken sausage,
- 1:37Speaker 2: she does the there's the sausage, and then she has
- 1:40Speaker 2: to make and then you hear the you know, when
- 1:42Speaker 2: she bites into it. So we want to do this like,
- 1:45Speaker 2: you know, let's not disturb Anyboddy, but we're gonna and
- 1:49Speaker 2: just see if we can get through this meal. All right,
- 1:51Speaker 2: well sounds compelling.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Huh, Listen, you lost me a cottage cheese. But I'll
- 1:55Speaker 1: dial it down here in the spirit of this, be
- 1:58Speaker 1: careful with the lettuce. Christine. We need you back here
- 2:00Speaker 1: on Monday.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Cobby and Christine back in a moment on one O
- 2:03Speaker 3: six point seven light f M. Okay, I need to
- 2:07Speaker 3: tell you two cents Cobbe and Christine's two pretty cool things.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Six twenty five. It's one O six point seven light FM.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'm Victor Sosa for Cobby this morning, but that is
- 2:19Speaker 1: not going to stop us from having tool too. I
- 2:21Speaker 1: should say pretty cool things, Christine. I'm sitting here looking
- 2:23Speaker 1: at mine. I think this probably should have been yours.
- 2:25Speaker 2: But oh, okay, all right, So we'll start off with

- 3:18Speaker 2: wonderful work and activities and it's just going to be
- 3:21Speaker 2: great fun.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Don't undersell the funnel, k Christine.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Absolutely go for that.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I'm here all right. Mine is definitely one that Christine
- 3:28Speaker 1: is thinking about this weekend. After you make your viral video, Christine,
- 3:31Speaker 1: how about going to see a Cat Video Fest at
- 3:34Speaker 1: a theater in the city this weekend.
- 3:36Speaker 2: You're talking our language. Anna and I are big fans
- 3:39Speaker 2: of cats. After we do our video.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Yes, Cat Video Fest twenty twenty six, a curated compilation
- 3:44Speaker 1: of the absolute best and most hilarious cat videos of
- 3:48Speaker 1: the year, handpicked of course by top notch judges.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I love this.
- 3:52Speaker 1: There are actually a bunch of screening spots this weekend
- 3:54Speaker 1: in the city, like the IFC Center in the West Village,
- 3:57Speaker 1: and there's also the Nighthawk in Williamsburg and Prospect Park
- 4:00Speaker 1: and the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens is
- 4:02Speaker 1: actually showing it this weekend and an encore performance for
- 4:05Speaker 1: those who can't get enough. They'll un it again next weekend.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Two very good, two pretty cool thing. Friday morning, six
- 4:10Speaker 1: thirty nine, It's one O six point seven Light FM,
- 4:12Speaker 1: New York's variety station, Avic Sosa in with Christine this morning. Christine,
- 4:17Speaker 1: there are lots of things one can do over the
- 4:19Speaker 1: weekend in the city. No shortage of activities. In fact,
- 4:21Speaker 1: we talked about a couple of them a few minutes ago.
- 4:23Speaker 1: But for those who just want to park themselves on
- 4:26Speaker 1: the couch and watch their favorite shows, yeah, we got
- 4:29Speaker 1: this list here of the most stream shows of the
- 4:31Speaker 1: year so far, right, and be honest with you, I
- 4:34Speaker 1: was surprised when I looked at it to see how
- 4:36Speaker 1: many of them I actually do watch. You do? Okay, well,
- 4:39Speaker 1: because my young nephew who lives with me, you know,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I get a lot of SpongeBob, a lot of Paw Patrol,
- 4:45Speaker 1: and a lot of Bluey. But the rest of the list.
- 4:47Speaker 2: The rest of the adult stuff you don't see. Yeah, okay,
- 4:51Speaker 2: So yeah, top stream shows of twenty twenty six so
- 4:54Speaker 2: far we're getting through the year. Stranger Things on Netflix
- 4:58Speaker 2: definitely number one, twenty three twenty six billion views. But
- 5:04Speaker 2: it did bump Bluey, which, you know, your favorite Victor
- 5:07Speaker 2: on Disney Plus is usually number one, So that was
- 5:09Speaker 2: a big deal that Stranger Things Bumps Blooey to second place,
- 5:13Speaker 2: followed by The Pit I know Kubby loves that show
- 5:15Speaker 2: and Grey's Anatomy. I can't do the doctor stuff. Yeah,
- 5:20Speaker 2: I just can't right now. But those shows are supposed
- 5:23Speaker 2: to be.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Great, I tell you, really impressive. Because Gray's Anatomy. Gray's
- 5:27Speaker 1: Anatomy has been on since we were all kids. It
- 5:29Speaker 1: seems like, yes, it's just always been there.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Incredible number, exactly, big bang theory. People still love that.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Bridgerton on Netflix SpongeBob SquarePants. He said, that's another one
- 5:39Speaker 2: of your faves. Right, Family Guy on Hulu. People love
- 5:43Speaker 2: to watch Family Guy, Bob's Burgers, and Paw Patrol.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Who by the way, because you know, I'm an honorary
- 5:49Speaker 1: Paw Patroller one of those movies coming out this month too,
- 5:52Speaker 1: So kids, parents, be on the lookout for that. I
- 5:54Speaker 1: don't want to be the only one in the movie theater.
- 5:56Speaker 1: You can all just give me the dirty look.
- 5:57Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine and the great music, Right, why
- 6:00Speaker 3: do you expect next? On light FM?
- 6:02Speaker 1: The best variety in the city. What else? Six point
- 6:04Speaker 1: seven light FM, Good Friday Morning to you, six point
- 6:06Speaker 1: fifty two. I'm Victor Sosa in for CuPy with Christine
- 6:09Speaker 1: and producer Kristin. Christine. You know the old saying one
- 6:12Speaker 1: man's trash, that's another man's treasure, But this might be
- 6:16Speaker 1: taking it a little too far, at least for me.
- 6:19Speaker 2: This artist is proving it to be true, though, Victor. So,
- 6:21Speaker 2: do you remember after Taylor Swift's wedding there's a New
- 6:24Speaker 2: York City artist collecting the trash around the garden, yes,
- 6:28Speaker 2: putting it in plastic cubes and selling it and it's
- 6:30Speaker 2: sold out thirty five bucks a cube. Well he strikes again.
- 6:35Speaker 2: His name is Justin Ginjak. I believe it is how
- 6:38Speaker 2: you say his name. And this time around he was like, ah,
- 6:42Speaker 2: World Cup, I see opportunity here. So he went around
- 6:46Speaker 2: and he collected the debris after people were celebrating the
- 6:49Speaker 2: historic match between Spain and Argentina. And he's got a
- 6:53Speaker 2: limited edition drop. Now you will get the garbage packed
- 6:57Speaker 2: into plastic cubes. He is called call this one the
- 7:01Speaker 2: garbage of Champions, Gracias poor littering, and it can be
- 7:07Speaker 2: yours for thirty five dollars.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Well, there's nothing that says New York more than a
- 7:11Speaker 1: pilot trash.
- 7:13Speaker 2: It is limited edition. It is selling out, and there's
- 7:17Speaker 2: people who are out of town who are saying they
- 7:19Speaker 2: actually like it because they feel like they've got a
- 7:21Speaker 2: little piece of New York.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Now exactly trash, it's so New York. What do you
- 7:25Speaker 1: gotta come it up?
- 7:26Speaker 2: Let's check out the headlines. Oh and science studied us
- 7:30Speaker 2: and they found out we're happier on the weekends.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Yeah, who paid well? The check chasers who got that study.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Push through more.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Cubby and Christine and the great music variety you expect
- 7:39Speaker 3: next on Light at.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Them Morning, Cubby and Christine. I'm Victor in for Kubby.
- 7:43Speaker 1: We got to look at this morning's headlines. What are
- 7:45Speaker 1: people talking about this morning?
- 7:46Speaker 2: Christine, Good morning Victor. Definitely the heat. The heat advisory
- 7:50Speaker 2: is still with us today through tomorrow at eight pm.
- 7:53Speaker 2: And a new report finding the prevalence of West Nile
- 7:56Speaker 2: virus is up here in New York City. Health officials
- 7:59Speaker 2: say its highest in Staten Island and Queens where they
- 8:02Speaker 2: have been testing mosquitos and finding them positive for WESTFROMP.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Niles.
- 8:06Speaker 2: So fortunately no person has gotten it so far, but
- 8:09Speaker 2: they're worried. It's a matter of time, so you know,
- 8:12Speaker 2: try and be careful, Try not to get bitten by
- 8:14Speaker 2: a mosquito. Remove all standing water away from the area
- 8:17Speaker 2: of your home, the president, saying the strait of horror
- 8:20Speaker 2: moves is quote sword of open right now, but that
- 8:23Speaker 2: a deal has not yet been finalized. Trump told reporters
- 8:27Speaker 2: that negotiations with Iran are continuing and that in the meantime,
- 8:32Speaker 2: the US continues to blockade Iranian ports and have military
- 8:37Speaker 2: control of the waterway. We have a federal judge who
- 8:40Speaker 2: says Haitian immigrants in the US have officially lost their
- 8:44Speaker 2: temporary protected status, and this follows the Supreme Court ruling
- 8:47Speaker 2: allowing the Trump administration to end the program. Decision affects
- 8:51Speaker 2: more than three hundred thousand Haitians who have been protected
- 8:53Speaker 2: from deportation, which was granted after the twenty ten earthquake
- 8:57Speaker 2: in Haiti. Halapanios from San Diego, California based distributor Coast
- 9:03Speaker 2: Citrus Distributors have been linked to that potential salmonilla outbreak
- 9:08Speaker 2: at Chipotle and Cudoba. They have pulled the halapaannos and
- 9:13Speaker 2: it is safe to eat at the restaurants. They're not
- 9:15Speaker 2: there anymore. But we're dealing with some stuff here, aren't we.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I mean when it rains it poor. Yeah, we're just
- 9:20Speaker 1: felt halapanos the salad, trying to be healthy parties.
- 9:25Speaker 2: They were just trying to be healthy. Sports. The Mets
- 9:27Speaker 2: beat the Guardians thirteen six. Yanks had the night off.
- 9:30Speaker 2: We had our first NFL press preseason game last night.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Panthers beat the Cardinals thirty three thirty And believe it
- 9:36Speaker 2: or not, we're happier on the weekends.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Who now.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yeah, People in a study were reported to be in
- 9:42Speaker 2: better moods, greater vitality, fewer aches and pains. This will
- 9:46Speaker 2: last you from Friday today through Saturday afternoon. Working men
- 9:50Speaker 2: and women across all occupations felt mentally and physically better
- 9:54Speaker 2: on the weekends, regardless of income, work hours, education, age,
- 9:58Speaker 2: or marital status.
- 9:59Speaker 1: The person who's happiest on Friday is the guy who
- 10:02Speaker 1: actually got the money to do that study. Listening to
- 10:05Speaker 1: everybody talk.
- 10:06Speaker 3: About it more Covey and Christine and the great music
- 10:09Speaker 3: variety you expect next on Light at Them.
- 10:11Speaker 1: New York's number one for variety one O six point
- 10:14Speaker 1: seven Light FM. Good Morning It is seven oh nine
- 10:16Speaker 1: on Victor Sosa In Forcvey with Christine and producer Christen.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Christine New York drives this number up. I'm sure, and
- 10:23Speaker 1: there'll be some New Yorkers who hear these numbers and
- 10:25Speaker 1: think I wish. I so totally wish. But we're talking
- 10:29Speaker 1: about national averages here, and everything is just getting harder
- 10:32Speaker 1: these days to be able to afford, including that American
- 10:35Speaker 1: dream thing that you would consider typical, owning your own home.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely so, Redfinn, which is you know, a real
- 10:42Speaker 2: estate site where you can check out homes. They said
- 10:46Speaker 2: they did an average across the US of how much
- 10:48Speaker 2: you need to earn in order to be able to
- 10:50Speaker 2: buy the average US home. Right, we're not talking about
- 10:54Speaker 2: mc manchin here, we're just you know, a house. You
- 10:57Speaker 2: would need to earn one hundred and ten thousand dollars
- 10:59Speaker 2: a year to comfortably afford a typical home in the US.
- 11:04Speaker 2: And what they're looking at is you would need to
- 11:06Speaker 2: put fifteen percent down. Thirty percent of your monthly income
- 11:11Speaker 2: would go to mortgage payments, property taxes, and other housing costs.
- 11:15Speaker 2: That's the balance. You're not supposed to go higher than
- 11:17Speaker 2: thirty percent of your annual income, right, And a lot
- 11:20Speaker 2: of people can't do that. They're dipping in further in
- 11:24Speaker 2: order to get the house right, they're doing up to
- 11:26Speaker 2: like forty percent of their income, and they said, you
- 11:30Speaker 2: need one hundred and ten thousand to buy the typical home,
- 11:33Speaker 2: but the average income in the US is twenty two
- 11:36Speaker 2: thousand below that. So that's that's why we're seeing some
- 11:40Speaker 2: really big challenges here. And I know the interest rates
- 11:43Speaker 2: just went up a little bit again too. I don't know.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I'm being told like it's starting to become a little
- 11:48Speaker 2: bit more of a buyer's market because the houses are
- 11:50Speaker 2: sitting longer because it's tougher to afford them.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I think, well, of course the year after you bought,
- 11:56Speaker 1: it's a buyer's market. Oh yeah, because.
- 11:58Speaker 2: It's always that way, Yes, yeah, absolutely, it always works
- 12:02Speaker 2: like that. But the markets that are dropping include Seattle,
- 12:06Speaker 2: which had the biggest improvement in San Jose, so I mean,
- 12:09Speaker 2: we kind of have to move in order to get
- 12:12Speaker 2: into those houses. Saint Louis, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh said those
- 12:18Speaker 2: are three major metro areas that incomes were above the
- 12:22Speaker 2: required amount to buy a typical local home. So you know,
- 12:26Speaker 2: if you're going to relocate, but we can't pick up
- 12:29Speaker 2: our lives and just move. We have to look at
- 12:31Speaker 2: the Tri State area.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's much higher here. Yeah, exactly if it's still
- 12:35Speaker 1: on your vision board. A helpful reminder Saturday's Powerball jackpot
- 12:39Speaker 1: eight hundred and fifty six million dollars.
- 12:41Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine and the Great Music Variety You
- 12:43Speaker 3: expect next on light FM.
- 12:45Speaker 2: One A six point seven light FM Good Morning. It's
- 12:48Speaker 2: Christine Victor's in for Cubby this morning along with producer Kristin.
- 12:52Speaker 2: We are in the middle of our flashback track. Can
- 12:55Speaker 2: you guess this song?
- 12:58Speaker 4: Light FM?
- 12:58Speaker 1: Good Morning?
- 13:00Speaker 2: A song you do?
- 13:01Speaker 4: All right?
- 13:01Speaker 1: Give me your best guess?
- 13:02Speaker 4: What is it? You've got it?
- 13:07Speaker 2: Yes? Congratulations? What's your name? One name is all Warren
- 13:13Speaker 2: Marsh Morning, Jersey Warren from Morristown. Congrats, you're going to
- 13:17Speaker 2: see Sebastian Manuscalco. He's gonna be at Northwall at Jones
- 13:20Speaker 2: Beach Theater Saturday, August fifteenth. Wow.
- 13:23Speaker 4: How much is it?
- 13:24Speaker 2: It's free? You just won? Wow? Wow?
- 13:27Speaker 4: Oh wow.
- 13:28Speaker 1: You can look around at everybody else warning and tell
- 13:30Speaker 1: them and ask them how much did you pay for those?
- 13:31Speaker 4: Really? I come home for free?
- 13:33Speaker 2: Bro?
- 13:33Speaker 1: What you're doing wrong?
- 13:34Speaker 3: Step More Covey and Christine and the Great Music variety.
- 13:39Speaker 3: You expect next on Light.
- 13:40Speaker 1: That f that Friday morning. It's just about seven fifty
- 13:43Speaker 1: one six point seven Light FM, New York's variety station.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Good morning. I'm Victor Sosa in for Covey with Christine
- 13:48Speaker 1: and producer Kristin. Now, Christine, you and I have known
- 13:51Speaker 1: each other for a very long time. We know quite
- 13:53Speaker 1: a bit about each other. But it wasn't until mere
- 13:56Speaker 1: moments ago that I realized you were probably gonna have
- 13:58Speaker 1: to update your Instagram bio this weekend too. Cottage cheese enthusiast.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know if I can go that far, Victor,
- 14:06Speaker 2: Are you going pretty far this time? I'm not saying
- 14:08Speaker 2: I like it, but yes. So my friend Ann Sayer
- 14:11Speaker 2: and I are jumping on a trend here and it's
- 14:14Speaker 2: called the Tiffany Plate. And at first, when she said
- 14:16Speaker 2: do you want to do a Tiffany Plate, I said sure,
- 14:18Speaker 2: because I thought we were going to go to Tiffany
- 14:20Speaker 2: and have breakfast. No, it is. It is a woman
- 14:23Speaker 2: named Tiffany who has been sharing her story online about
- 14:27Speaker 2: losing weight. She lost sixty pounds by designing her own
- 14:32Speaker 2: plate of food, which consists of a big chicken sausage,
- 14:38Speaker 2: a like wedge of onion, cottage cheese, mustard, a whole
- 14:43Speaker 2: bunch of veggies like we're talking radishes, some rough stuff
- 14:46Speaker 2: to get down. And then what she does is she
- 14:49Speaker 2: dips it into the mustard and the cottage cheese and
- 14:52Speaker 2: then tells us how good it tastes.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Now.
- 14:54Speaker 2: And when she does that with an onion cup, I'm
- 14:57Speaker 2: thinking it looks kind of gross. She says, it's actually
- 15:01Speaker 2: really good. People are trying it. They say it's good.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Anna and I are going to try it. Let's see
- 15:05Speaker 2: if we can stomach.
- 15:06Speaker 1: It and get through it.
- 15:08Speaker 2: But we also we have to be really careful how
- 15:10Speaker 2: we do this, because Tiffany herself usually whispers when she
- 15:13Speaker 2: does it.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Also, it's very.
- 15:16Speaker 2: House so we had every time, like if we pick
- 15:19Speaker 2: up the muster and and jow it, we have to
- 15:21Speaker 2: do the little click, and then we have to do
- 15:23Speaker 2: the little squirt and you'll just hear that sound. And
- 15:26Speaker 2: then we have to pick up the chicken sausage and
- 15:29Speaker 2: bite it, and then we have to have the reaction
- 15:31Speaker 2: and see if we can.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Get through this.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Don't worry, I'll share with you.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sure you will. I think I can handle
- 15:36Speaker 1: most of that, I'm still having a mental block about
- 15:38Speaker 1: the cottage cheese. Where's my therapist?
- 15:41Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine and the great music variety you
- 15:44Speaker 3: expect next.
- 15:45Speaker 2: On light F them six point seven Light FM. Good morning,
- 15:48Speaker 2: It's Christine. I'm here with producer Kristin and Victor is
- 15:52Speaker 2: in for Cubby this morning. Victor, I would like to
- 15:54Speaker 2: introduce you to our friend in Hollywood, Harry Medvad. Good morning, Harry,
- 15:57Speaker 2: This is Victor.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Hey.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Good morning, Hey, Victor, Hey, how are you appreciate you
- 16:02Speaker 1: hanging with us this morning. We've got a lot going on,
- 16:04Speaker 1: especially with some of the biggest movies in the history
- 16:06Speaker 1: of the box office, thinking about Spider Man the big
- 16:09Speaker 1: debut last week and obviously expecting I should say, big
- 16:13Speaker 1: numbers again this weekend.
- 16:14Speaker 4: Yeah. Now, it's been crazy. Every single weekday has been
- 16:17Speaker 4: like a weekend at the box office. And I actually
- 16:20Speaker 4: want to ask you guys, people are going back to
- 16:22Speaker 4: the movies and trops. I have my philosophy of why
- 16:25Speaker 4: people are we connecting as audiences at the movie theaters.
- 16:29Speaker 4: What do you think is going on here? It's really
- 16:31Speaker 4: a phenomenon. What's happening?
- 16:33Speaker 2: Well, I think it's a sense of community, right, It's
- 16:36Speaker 2: just more fun. There's more energy when you're with other
- 16:39Speaker 2: people and enjoying an experience together, and you're giving people
- 16:43Speaker 2: movies that they really want to see. That's important to you.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Think one hundred percent you nailed at Christina. I mean,
- 16:49Speaker 4: in my opinion, Hollywood is finally delivering the goods. Right.
- 16:52Speaker 4: For a while, people stayed away from the movies. They said,
- 16:54Speaker 4: I can watch it at home. I got my count
- 16:56Speaker 4: It's beautiful and as good as streaming. So but there's
- 16:58Speaker 4: a couple of things going on. Hollywood is delivering really
- 17:00Speaker 4: great movies. So even a film like Spiderman Brand New
- 17:03Speaker 4: Day or The Odyssey, which is based on you know,
- 17:06Speaker 4: a three thousand year old bum we all read in
- 17:08Speaker 4: high school. Many of us read in high school and forgot.
- 17:11Speaker 4: But these films feel like they feel like originals. You know,
- 17:14Speaker 4: they're like you Toy Story five, it's a fresh story.
- 17:18Speaker 4: But not only that, the theaters are just so much
- 17:20Speaker 4: better than they used to be, because when I was
- 17:21Speaker 4: a kid, I remember the sticky floors, the kind of
- 17:24Speaker 4: like just really gross concessions. There was nothing healthy to eat,
- 17:28Speaker 4: you know, the seats were just not moving. You know,
- 17:30Speaker 4: they were really uncomfortable. That doesn't happen anymore. It's really
- 17:33Speaker 4: rare that you find a theater like that. Most of
- 17:35Speaker 4: the theaters, I mean, in the last three years, they've
- 17:37Speaker 4: invested one point five billion dollars in upgrading the theaters
- 17:41Speaker 4: and making them really beautiful, wonderful places where you want
- 17:43Speaker 4: to linger longer. Because there's just really great lobbies where
- 17:46Speaker 4: you're can have a drink or dine in or you know,
- 17:49Speaker 4: have a dinner date during the movie. So dinner in
- 17:52Speaker 4: a movie doesn't have to be dinner somewhere else is
- 17:53Speaker 4: that's a active theater. So I'm just super excited. But
- 17:56Speaker 4: I think the main thing is that it's a slate
- 17:58Speaker 4: of movies. There's something for everyone. Yeah, the one that
- 18:01Speaker 4: I want to talk about this week, and I mean
- 18:02Speaker 4: Spider Man, Brand New Day and Odyssey. You're still killing it.
- 18:05Speaker 4: It was a boss office all time record last weekend,
- 18:08Speaker 4: four hundred and thirty million for one weekend. Wow, crazy
- 18:12Speaker 4: for all the movies combined. But the movie that's opening
- 18:14Speaker 4: this week and that I love so much is a
- 18:16Speaker 4: comedy and it feels so good to laugh together with
- 18:18Speaker 4: people in a cinema because you watch a comedy at home.
- 18:22Speaker 4: If you're watching by yourself, you'l chuckle a little bit,
- 18:24Speaker 4: but you're kind of looking around, like, where's everybody?
- 18:26Speaker 2: Yeah, you want to last with you?
- 18:27Speaker 4: Yes, I exactly. And comedy's work when you have a
- 18:30Speaker 4: huge audience. This movie is called One Night Only. Hopefully's
- 18:34Speaker 4: playing for more than one night only at your local theater.
- 18:37Speaker 4: It's from Will Gluck, the guy who directed Easya with
- 18:40Speaker 4: Emma Stone. He also did Friends with Benefits with Justin
- 18:43Speaker 4: Timberlake Emila Cunis, and his last movie was a huge
- 18:46Speaker 4: surprise box office it called Anyone But You with Sidney
- 18:49Speaker 4: Sweeney and of course Glenn Pell. This movie stars two
- 18:55Speaker 4: rising stars, Colin Turner, who you might know is mister
- 18:58Speaker 4: Dua Lipa so an Eternity a really lovely romantic comedy,
- 19:03Speaker 4: and Monica Barbaro, who is absolutely fantastic. Some people are
- 19:06Speaker 4: comparing her to like a young Natalie Wood as a comedian.
- 19:09Speaker 4: She's so good. And this movie is just a love
- 19:13Speaker 4: letter to New York City. It's shot all over the city.
- 19:16Speaker 4: It's shot in the East Village, West Village, Soho. And
- 19:19Speaker 4: I know movie locations really well. I've never seen The
- 19:22Speaker 4: Little Red lighthouse underneath the George Washington Bridge and a
- 19:25Speaker 4: movie before. I don't know how they did it. How
- 19:27Speaker 4: did we not use this as a movie location? But
- 19:30Speaker 4: it's just if you love New York, this is your
- 19:33Speaker 4: kind of movie. There's a little bit of political commentary
- 19:35Speaker 4: in the movie that I think is a little bit
- 19:37Speaker 4: over the top. It's not for everyone's taste, but I
- 19:39Speaker 4: kind of just go with it. It's a dystopian comedy.
- 19:43Speaker 4: I know it sounds crazy, but the plot of the
- 19:45Speaker 4: movie is that there's just one night a year where
- 19:47Speaker 4: single people can get together. And it reminded me a
- 19:52Speaker 4: lot of like I don't know if you remember, there
- 19:53Speaker 4: was a Martin Scorsese comedy called After Hours, reminding me
- 19:57Speaker 4: of the classic screwball comedy. It happened one night with
- 20:00Speaker 4: our cable and plot of Culver Christine and You're gonna
- 20:02Speaker 4: love this movie.
- 20:03Speaker 2: I was just gonna say, I'm gonna book Eric. You guys,
- 20:08Speaker 2: he needs to take a night off. We need to
- 20:09Speaker 2: go to the movies.
- 20:11Speaker 1: This is great.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Well, Harry brought us some great news, you know, things
- 20:15Speaker 2: to look forward to.
- 20:16Speaker 4: Thank you, thank you, and let's keep it going. The
- 20:19Speaker 4: movies are great and just I mean just I'm so
- 20:21Speaker 4: happy because I'm so happy to see people coming together
- 20:24Speaker 4: at the movies for And the one thing I will
- 20:26Speaker 4: say is all these films have in common, they're all
- 20:28Speaker 4: about loneliness. They're all about how we have to kind
- 20:30Speaker 4: of get out of the house and reconnect with each other,
- 20:33Speaker 4: and how we need to be together and work together
- 20:35Speaker 4: for common causes. So that's why my films like Spiderman,
- 20:38Speaker 4: Brand New Day and and I think this film one
- 20:40Speaker 4: night and You're gonna do great business.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Yeah, they're really resonating. Harry Medved of the Cinema Foundation,
- 20:45Speaker 2: thank you for always getting up early out in Hollywood
- 20:48Speaker 2: and recommending such great films. It's good to talk to you, Harry.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Same here, Christine, Thank you.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Hi.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Victory, have a great weekend you too.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Thank you.
