March 19 - When Humility Opens the Heart · Bible Chat Devotional

• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, March 19th.
• 0:11
Words that heal. Words that hurt.
• 0:13
Words can leave bruises that nobody sees.
• 0:16
A rumor, A harsh joke, a cutting comment, a careless opinion
• 0:19
spoken at the wrong time. Sometimes people move on quickly
• 0:23
from what they said, but the one who heard it carries it much
• 0:26
longer. That is why Scripture speaks so
• 0:29
seriously about the tongue. Words are not harmless.
• 0:34
They can act like a blade or they can become part of
• 0:36
  someone's healing. Proverbs chapter 12, verses 17
• 0:40
to 18 says whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence, but
• 0:44
a false witness utters deceit. There is one whose rash words
• 0:48
are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings
• 0:51
  healing. That image is unforgettable.
• 0:54
Some words stab. Some words heal, and every day
• 0:58
in ordinary conversations we are choosing which kind of person we
• 1:02
  will be. Then Job.
• 1:03
Chapter 42 shows Job responding to God with humility.
• 1:08
He says, I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now
• 1:11
my eye sees you. After all his questions,
• 1:14
suffering, and confusion, Job comes to a place of deeper
• 1:18
surrender. He sees that being near God
• 1:21
changes how he sees himself and everything else that is
• 1:25
important because healing words do not come from pretending life
• 1:28
is easy. They come from hearts that have
• 1:31
been softened by God. When you have walked through
• 1:33
pain, disappointment, misunderstanding, or loss, you
• 1:37
have a choice. You can let pain make you sharp,
• 1:40
bitter, and reckless with your words, or you can let God make
• 1:43
  you gentle, wise, and compassionate.
• 1:47
In friendships, families, classrooms, group chats, and
• 1:49
online spaces, there are endless chances to either add to the
• 1:53
noise or speak life. Truth matters.
• 1:56
Honesty matters, but truth without grace can still wound.
• 2:00
God calls us to be people who speak honestly and lovingly,
• 2:04
people whose words carry both courage and kindness.
• 2:08
And when life is hard and you do not understand what God is
• 2:11
doing, Job reminds us that trusting God does not mean you
• 2:14
have all the answers. It means you keep bringing your
• 2:17
heart to the one who does. He can restore what is broken in
• 2:21
you, and He can teach you to become a source of healing for
• 2:24
others. Let your words reflect the God
• 2:26
  who restores. Let's pray.
• 2:29
Heavenly Father, thank you for being patient with me and for
• 2:32
speaking truth and grace into my life.
• 2:35
Forgive me for the times my words have caused harm.
• 2:39
Help me to speak with wisdom, honesty and compassion.
• 2:42
Heal the places in me that have become sharp through pain and
• 2:45
make me someone whose words bring life and restoration in
• 2:49
Jesus name, Amen. What if the most important
• 2:53
question in your life deserves more than a shallow answer?

• 4:18
Proverbs chapter 12 verses 17 to 18 World English Bible.
• 4:23
He who is truthful testifies honestly, but a false witness
• 4:27
lies. There is one who speaks rashly,
• 4:29
like the piercing of a sword, but the tongue of the wise
• 4:32
heels. Job, chapters 40 to 42 World
• 4:35
English Bible. Moreover, Yahweh answer Job
• 4:38
shall he who argues contend with the Almighty, He who argues with
• 4:41
God, let him answer it. Then Job answered Yahweh,
• 4:45
Behold, I am of small account. What will I answer you?
• 4:48
I lay my hand on my mouth. I have spoken once, and I will
• 4:52
not answer yes twice, but I will proceed no further.
• 4:55
Then Yahweh answered Job out of the whirlwind.
• 4:58
Now brace yourself like a man. I will question you and you will
• 5:01
answer me. Will you even annul my
• 5:03
judgement? Will you condemn me that you may
• 5:06
be justified? Or do you have an arm like God?
• 5:09
Can you Thunder with a voice like Him?
• 5:11
Now deck yourself with Excellency and dignity.
• 5:14
Array yourself with honor and majesty.
• 5:16
Pour out the fury of your anger. Look at everyone who is proud
• 5:19
and bring him low. Look at everyone who is proud
• 5:22
and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place.
• 5:25
Hide them in the dust together, bind their faces in the hidden
• 5:28
place. Then I will also admit to you
• 5:30
that your own right hand can save you.
• 5:33
See now, Behemoth, which I made as well as you.
• 5:35
He eats grass as an ox. Look now.
• 5:38
His strength is in his thighs. His force is in the muscles of
• 5:41
his belly. He moves his tail like a cedar.
• 5:44
The sinews of his thighs are knit together.
• 5:46
His bones are like tubes of bronze, his limbs are like bars
• 5:50
of iron. He is the chief of the ways of
• 5:52
God. He who made him gives him his
• 5:54
  sword. Surely the mountains produce
• 5:56
food for him where all the animals of the field play.
• 6:00
He lies under the Lotus trees, in the covert of the Reed and
• 6:03
the marsh. The lotuses cover him with their
• 6:05
shade. The willows of the brook
• 6:07
surround him. Behold, if a river overflows, he
• 6:10
doesn't tremble. He is confident, though the
• 6:13
Jordan swells even to his mouth. Shall any take him when he is on
• 6:16
the watch, or Pierce through his nose with a snare?
• 6:19
Can you draw out Leviathan with a fish hook, or press down his
• 6:23
tongue with a cord? Can you put a rope into his
• 6:25
nose, or Pierce his jaw through with a hook?
• 6:28
Will he make many petitions to you, or will he speak soft words
• 6:31
to you? Will he make a covenant with you
• 6:33
that you should take him for a servant forever?
• 6:36
Will you play with him as with a bird, or will you bind him for
• 6:38
your girls? Will traders barter for him?
• 6:41
Will they part him among the merchants?
• 6:43
Can you fill his skin with barbed irons, or his head with
• 6:46
fish Spears? Lay your hand on him.
• 6:48
Remember the battle, and do so no more.
• 6:51
Behold, the hope of him is in vain.
• 6:53
Won't one be cast down even at the sight of him?
• 6:56
None is so fierce that he dare stir him up.
• 6:58
Who then is he who can stand before me?
• 7:01
Who is first given to me that I should repay him?
• 7:03
Everything under the heavens is mine.
• 7:06
I will not keep silence concerning his limbs, nor his
• 7:09
mighty strength, nor his goodly frame.
• 7:11
Who can strip off his outer garment?
• 7:13
Who will come within his jaws? Who can open the doors of his
• 7:16
face? Around his teeth is terror.
• 7:19
Strong scales are his pride. Shut up together with a close
• 7:22
seal. 1 is so near to another that no air can come between
• 7:26
them. They are joined to one another.
• 7:28
They stick together so that they can't be pulled apart.
• 7:31
His sneezing flashes out light. His eyes are like the eyelids of
• 7:35
the morning. Out of his mouth go burning
• 7:37
torches. Sparks of fire leap out out of
• 7:40
his nostrils. A smoke goes as of a boiling pot
• 7:43
over a fire of reeds. His breath Kindles, coals.
• 7:46
A flame goes out of his mouth. There is strength in his neck.
• 7:50
Terror dances before him. The flakes of his flesh are
• 7:53
joined together. They are firm on him.
• 7:55
They can't be moved. His heart is as firm as a stone,
• 7:58
yes, firm as the lower millstone.
• 8:01
When he raises himself up, the mighty are afraid.
• 8:04
  They retreat before his thrashing.
• 8:06
If one attacks him with the sword, it can't prevail, nor the
• 8:09
spear, the dart, nor the pointed shaft.
• 8:12
He counts iron as straw and bronze as rotten wood.
• 8:15
The arrow can't make him flee. Sling stones are like chaff to
• 8:19
him. Clubs are counted as stubble.
• 8:21
He laughs at the rushing of the javelin.
• 8:23
His undersides are like sharp potsherds leaving a trail in the
• 8:26
mud like a thrashing sledge. He makes the deep to boil like a
• 8:30
pot. He makes the sea like a pot of
• 8:32
ointment. He makes a path shine after him.
• 8:35
One would think the deep had white hair on earth.
• 8:37
There is not His equal that is made without fear.
• 8:40
He sees everything that is high. He is king over all the sons of
• 8:44
pride. Then Job answered, Yahweh, I
• 8:47
know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can
• 8:50
be restrained. You asked who is this who hides
• 8:53
counsel without knowledge? Therefore I have uttered that
• 8:56
which I didn't understand, things too wonderful for me
• 8:59
which I didn't know. You said.
• 9:00
Listen now and I will speak. I will question you, and you
• 9:03
will answer me. I had heard of you by the
• 9:06
hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you.
• 9:09
Therefore I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.
• 9:13
It was so that after Yahweh had spoken these words to Job,
• 9:16
Yahweh said to Alyph as the Temenite.
• 9:18
My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends,
• 9:22
for you have not spoken of Me, the thing that is right as my
• 9:25
servant Job has. Now therefore take to yourself 7
• 9:28
bulls and seven Rams and go to My servant Job and OfferUp for
• 9:32
yourselves a burnt offering. And My servant Job shall pray
• 9:36
for you, for I will accept him that I not deal with you
• 9:39
according to your folly. For you have not spoken of Me,
• 9:41
the thing that is right as my servant Job has.
• 9:45
So alephas the temenite and builded the shoe height and
• 9:47
Zafar the nomothite went and did what Yahweh commanded them, and
• 9:51
Yahweh accepted Job. Yahweh restored Jobs prosperity.
• 9:54
When he prayed for his friends, Yahweh gave Job twice as much as
• 9:58
He had before. Then all his brothers, all his
• 10:01
sisters, and all those who had been of his acquaintance before
• 10:05
came to him and ate bread with him in his house.
• 10:08
They comforted him and consoled him concerning all the evil that
• 10:11
Yahweh had brought on him. Everyone also gave him a piece
• 10:15
of money and everyone a ring of gold.
• 10:17
So Yahweh blessed the latter end of Job more than His beginning.
• 10:21
He had 14,000 sheep, 6000 camels, 1000 yoke of oxen and
• 10:26
1000 female donkeys. He had also seven sons and three
• 10:29
daughters. He called the name of the first
• 10:32
Jemima and the name of the second Keziah and the name of
• 10:35
the third Karen Hapuch. In all the land where no women
• 10:39
found so beautiful as the daughters of Job, their father
• 10:42
gave them an inheritance among their brothers.
• 10:44
After this, Job lived 140 years and saw his sons and his son's
• 10:49
sons to 4 generations. So Job died being old and full
• 10:53
of days. Thanks for joining us on Bible
