- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Today we're wrapping up our Clear the Clutter series.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: And when I first envisioned this series, I wasn't honestly sure if it would be helpful.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Sometimes when I'm putting together material for this podcast, since it's a daily show, I've got to, you know, create basically seven episodes worth of content every single week.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: And sometimes I put together a series and I think, man, this is something that people are really going to enjoy.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: It's directly related, you know, to books or publishing or something about writing habits or whatever the topic might be.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Other times I just do an experiment where I do a little series or I do a few episodes on some kind of random thing that I think, well, not that it's filler content, but it's something I don't know that people are really going to like.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: I'm just kind of putting it out there as an experiment.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: And much to my surprise, to be really honest with you, people have really responded to this series on clearing the clutter.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Um, which again has been kind of surprising to me because it's not something that's really directly related to writing in many ways, but at the same time, it is related to being successful and productive and clearing your mind.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: And of course, all those things are very much related to writing.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: So thanks for listening.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: And if you haven't caught all the episodes in this two-week series, I encourage you to go back and listen to these.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of really, really helpful stuff here.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: And in fact, I've seen some people post on social media where they've listened to an episode and they've posted a picture of, hey, I'm cleaning my office today or I'm cleaning up my desk today, or whatever it is.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: I think that's really cool.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: So thanks to those of you who have taken action on this and especially told me uh the stuff that you're cleaning as a result of listening to these episodes.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: So this brings me to the main point of this whole series.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: This is really not about getting rid of dirt or throwing away junk that you don't need or organizing computer files or canceling subscriptions.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Really, the the main idea, the main concept of clearing the clutter is all about letting go of the stuff in your life that's holding you back.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Your physical space is a manifestation of your mental space.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: So wherever you're sitting right now, look around.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: And if you're surrounded by piles of trash and junk and clutter and stuff that's just sort of randomly sitting there, that probably reflects something about your thinking and your emotions.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: I really believe that.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: If you look at somebody who's surrounded by junk and trash and piles of clutter, I think that reflects where they are emotionally.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that if somebody has a neat and tidy workspace that they're, you know, the world's friendliest person or they have their act together.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: That's not really what I'm saying, but I am saying it's worth considering that our physical space is to some degree a reflection of our mental and emotional space.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: So if you're struggling to clean up your physical space, I want you to check in with yourself and ask yourself, what am I clinging to?
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Why am I afraid to move on?
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: What's holding me back?
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Why can't I seem to let go?
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Now, I'm not a therapist, but I am a ghostwriter, which is pretty close half the time.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: However, I know that we all have hurts and hangups that are holding us back.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: And if you feel stuck, a counselor or therapist can definitely help.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: But a great way to begin making a fresh start in your life and a great way to get a little bit of healing and some forward momentum is to just clean up your environment.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: It really has an amazing impact on your mental state and on your positivity and your energy when you just get rid of the crap that's in your environment.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: This process doesn't need to be overly complicated.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: It doesn't need to take vast amounts of time, but it can give you vast amounts of peace and renewed energy in your life.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: So don't wait to do it perfectly.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: Just get started right now, and you're gonna see it makes a huge difference in your emotions, in your creativity, and also in your writing.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: So here's today's challenge.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Right now, look around you, wherever you're listening to this, and get rid of one piece of trash or an item that you don't need.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Don't overthink it, just do it.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: And I promise you this one tiny act will empower you to keep going.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: And when you do that, when you take this one very tiny small action, I want you to give yourself a high five and say, Well done, my friend, because you've taken that first tiny step toward making a bigger change in your life.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: And that is always something worth celebrating.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Speaking of taking action and making forward progress, I want to mention that today's episode is sponsored by Indie Author University, featuring the book marketing mastery course.

- 5:29SPEAKER_00: In fact, I featured an interview with her here on the Daily Writer podcast just last week.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: This book is amazing and it makes the perfect companion to the book marketing mastery course.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: There is a link in the show notes to check out the book on Amazon.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: I definitely encourage you to grab that.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: It's a very fun read that is going to help you a lot with your book marketing.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Hey, my friend, as always, thanks so much for listening, and I'll see you for tomorrow's episode.
