- 0:25Speaker 1: Welcome back to Satanic Youth Kenya. Optimists, do we have
- 0:32Speaker 1: optimist listeners here today? Don't hate our episode because we
- 0:41Speaker 1: will be talking about philosophy of pessimism by Atul Chopinawa.
- 0:53Speaker 1: And many people come to me telling me that, no, stop,
- 0:57Speaker 1: don't be pessimistic. look life in a brighter angle little
- 1:03Speaker 1: did they know that this philosophy of pacifism is the
- 1:10Speaker 1: brighter angle and it's freedom all right i'm not telling
- 1:15Speaker 1: anybody to start switching whatever philosophy they are abiding to
- 1:22Speaker 1: but just listen take this as food of thought And remember,
- 1:31Speaker 1: if you choose to follow these ways or this philosophy,
- 1:37Speaker 1: it's costly. It will set you apart. It will make
- 1:44Speaker 1: you a stranger in rooms where you once felt at home.
- 1:52Speaker 1: It will make you a stranger in rooms where you
- 1:57Speaker 1: once felt at home. Friends may interpret your distance as coldness.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And family may see your silence as detachment. Society which
- 2:16Speaker 1: thrives on conformity will brand your absence as failure. But
- 2:24Speaker 1: this is the very sign Of moving. Towards freedom.
- 2:30Speaker 2: So.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Have you ever. Been somewhere. Maybe in a room or somewhere.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Full of people.
- 2:41Speaker 2: And. All of a sudden. You feel like. You are alone. Yes.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Like their connection. Is hollow. Empty. a blank.
- 2:58Speaker 1: You know, I don't like the social life of a fast.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I'm not that social being. And people will be there
- 3:11Speaker 1: in the social life, social scene. People will be there
- 3:16Speaker 1: arguing because of their egos and emotions. To me, This
- 3:25Speaker 1: is really boring because I can't keep on acting just
- 3:30Speaker 1: to stay there in their spaces.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Alright?
- 3:35Speaker 1: So, most of these social interactions are driven deeply by ego.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Did you think that these social interactions are driven by
- 3:52Speaker 1: love and care and and honesty.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Did you think that? Optimists out there, did you think that?
- 4:05Speaker 1: Yes. Alright, rethink this after you listen to this. So
- 4:09Speaker 1: it seems just like a stage of people acting out
- 4:15Speaker 1: their lives, playing a scripted role, and I can't keep
- 4:20Speaker 1: up with that. So, at the shopping hour, found out
- 4:28Speaker 1: that the more shallow you are thinking, the more comfortable
- 4:36Speaker 1: with service-level life you will be.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Okay?
- 4:42Speaker 1: But for those who question existence, for those who think
- 4:49Speaker 1: deeply and.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Grapple with mortality, Yes, certainly.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Ordinary conversation is just noise distracting from the deep truths
- 5:02Speaker 1: that they are encountering within themselves.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Alright?
- 5:09Speaker 1: The louder the inner signal, the more intolerable the external
- 5:16Speaker 1: noise becomes. Or if you have found yourself seated with
- 5:22Speaker 1: people and outer noise is so much and it's so
- 5:28Speaker 1: intolerable and you feel exhausted like walking out of there
- 5:34Speaker 1: is because the inner signal, your inner signal is louder
- 5:39Speaker 1: and you can't tolerate staying there in the noise. So
- 5:46Speaker 1: solitude is not loneliness and I don't know why people
- 5:51Speaker 1: don't understand that. Solitude is not loneliness because a mind
- 5:57Speaker 1: doesn't need others to be complete. If a person doesn't
- 6:03Speaker 1: need others or a mind doesn't need other minds to
- 6:07Speaker 1: feel complete, then that person, we can call him, he
- 6:15Speaker 1: is in solitude. He is not lonely. Lonely, you need
- 6:21Speaker 1: others to feel complete. I feel I have outgrown the
- 6:27Speaker 1: social life. And it's not that I'm arrogant about or
- 6:32Speaker 1: I hate social life.
- 6:34Speaker 2: No.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I regulate it very highly. I'm not a social being.
- 6:41Speaker 1: And I've found something more sacred. The inner world. That's
- 6:49Speaker 1: why I find no interest in the social world, the
- 6:53Speaker 1: outer world, which anyways I can't control. And I can
- 6:58Speaker 1: control my inner world, which is so sacred to me. So,
- 7:07Speaker 1: it's not an argument about optimism and pessimism, all right?
- 7:12Speaker 1: But just think about this philosophy. Many people fear solitude.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Because they fear themselves. They can't stand being with themselves.
- 7:27Speaker 1: To confront the unfiltered truth of their own mind. Turning
- 7:35Speaker 1: inwards is the beginning of a genuine journey of self-discovery.
- 7:43Speaker 2: And it's not empty. Remember that.
- 7:45Speaker 1: People project People approach me and tell me that why
- 7:50Speaker 1: are you a pessimist?
- 7:52Speaker 2: You're empty. Who hurt you? They don't understand.
- 7:57Speaker 1: The intelligent mind lives inwards and with peace. Solitude is
- 8:06Speaker 1: not a punishment. This is where all the illusions of
- 8:10Speaker 1: the society falls away and you think clearly. for something
- 8:17Speaker 1: real to emerge you are there with yourself and no
- 8:23Speaker 1: destruction no external noises.
- 8:26Speaker 2: So real thing real.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Reasoning emerges so i do sharpen our declared to know
- 8:39Speaker 1: deeply is to suffer deeply And not because intelligence makes
- 8:45Speaker 1: life worse.
- 8:46Speaker 2: No.
- 8:47Speaker 1: You know, optimists, I don't know how they think. Anyway,
- 8:51Speaker 1: it's not that intelligence makes life worse. It's because it
- 8:56Speaker 1: reveals life more honestly. The intelligent person sees the absurdity,
- 9:07Speaker 1: the impermanence, and the will that drives human existence. Once
- 9:15Speaker 1: you see this clearly, it's impossible to unsee. That blind
- 9:21Speaker 1: force called the will is irrational and can't be satisfied.
- 9:29Speaker 1: When one desire is fulfilled, another takes its place. Haven't
- 9:34Speaker 1: you realized that? And what follows It's like a pattern.
- 9:41Speaker 1: You fulfill this desire, the next one starts. If you
- 9:44Speaker 1: feel it, the next one takes its place. You fulfill it,
- 9:47Speaker 1: the next one takes its place. You end up in
- 9:52Speaker 1: desperate and in frustration. So, if you look at the
- 10:03Speaker 1: philosophy of pessimism, people think that these people are empty.
- 10:11Speaker 1: They have just checked out in real life. But what
- 10:17Speaker 1: you but you can see clearly this is directly dealing
- 10:26Speaker 1: with reality and life as it is, seeing it clearly, right?
- 10:34Speaker 1: This is why intelligence and suffering works hand in hand.
- 10:42Speaker 1: The clearer we understand the nature of the world, the
- 10:47Speaker 1: more difficult it will get to find comfort in its illusions.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Optimists, have you heard that?
- 11:01Speaker 1: This is why intelligence and suffering works hand in hand.
- 11:06Speaker 1: And the clearer we understand the nature of the world,
- 11:10Speaker 1: the more difficult we will get to find comfort in
- 11:14Speaker 1: its illusions. and everything is passing, everything is fleeting, right?
- 11:21Speaker 1: One must understand that everything is fleeting and even our
- 11:29Speaker 1: own best creation and achievements will be long forgotten. Others
- 11:36Speaker 1: will be like, no, it will be preserved. You must
- 11:40Speaker 1: understand that everything is fleeting. Everything, your relationship, everything. And
- 11:48Speaker 1: this is not being dysfunctional or I am depressed. No,
- 11:55Speaker 1: it's clarity. This is pure clarity from the philosophy of pessimism. Right?
- 12:05Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Schopenhauer said that the very awareness that causes suffering can
- 12:12Speaker 1: also lead to liberation. Once we see the will is
- 12:19Speaker 1: the source of your pains, you can detach from it.
- 12:24Speaker 1: If the will is the source of your pains, detach
- 12:27Speaker 1: from it.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Right?
- 12:30Speaker 1: Say no to constant chase of pleasure. and seek inner stillness.
- 12:40Speaker 1: If the will keeps recurring and you satisfy it, another
- 12:47Speaker 1: takes its place, you feel dysfunctioned and frustrated, just say
- 12:53Speaker 1: no to the constant chase of pleasure or the constant
- 12:59Speaker 1: chase to fulfill the will and seek inner stillness.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Do you see anything like out of direction there? So,
- 13:14Speaker 1: pain is the prize of wisdom. The intelligent mind must
- 13:22Speaker 1: pass through suffering just like gold passes through fire to
- 13:29Speaker 1: purify it and emerge as pure to be truly freed
- 13:37Speaker 1: one must detach, not from life, not from life. No
- 13:43Speaker 1: one must detach from life to be free. To be free,
- 13:48Speaker 1: you must detach, not from life, I repeat again, but
- 13:52Speaker 1: from the illusions that society worships. Religion, consumerism, ETC, and
- 14:05Speaker 1: as we finish up, Today's episode, it will be a
- 14:09Speaker 1: brief episode. Remember, the crowd is guided blindly by instinct
- 14:20Speaker 1: and will. The crowd is guided blindly by instinct and will.
- 14:29Speaker 1: What they are, look, as I've just said, look at
- 14:32Speaker 1: the consumerism. of the society. Look at how the society consumes.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Look what they are teaching their children. What's their drive?
- 14:52Speaker 1: And now you can see the dance, right?
- 14:58Speaker 2: Do you see? Now you can see them dancing, right?
- 15:01Speaker 1: Yes. And others will still call me a pessimist. I've
- 15:05Speaker 1: lost direction and I'm in a dark place in a corner.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Can't you see them dancing? Can't you see the society acting?
- 15:17Speaker 1: Look at the social congregation. Look when you're seated in
- 15:22Speaker 1: a room with people. How you feel empty engaging with them.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Look how they are acting on script. Actually, it's not
- 15:33Speaker 1: like they're unscripted. They're unscripted. And the constant performance by
- 15:41Speaker 1: the crowd and the society. To have freedom, you must
- 15:49Speaker 1: detach from that.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Right.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Until next time, I'm your host, Satanist Craig Jameel and
- 16:05Speaker 1: your co-host, Zapata.
- 16:08Speaker 2: The voodoo doll. Yes, Satan is great.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Until next time. Hey, philosophy of pessimism. Hey, Satan.
