- 0:00Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has adopted
- 0:02an advanced smart system to strengthen the reliability
- 0:05of its electricity distribution networks. The
- 0:08system is called the Automatic Smart Grid Restoration
- 0:11System, or ASGR, and it is designed to support
- 0:15full automation and instant decision -making.
- 0:18Yes, this is a significant development because
- 0:21the system is being implemented within Dubai
- 0:24Electricity and Water Authority's Distribution
- 0:27Power Division. and is intended to keep pace
- 0:30with Dubai's rapid urban and economic growth.
- 0:33It also reinforces Dubai Electricity and Water
- 0:36Authority's role in building a smart, resilient
- 0:39infrastructure capable of meeting future demand
- 0:42and supporting Dubai's position as a leading
- 0:45global smart city. From an operational perspective,
- 0:48ASGR automatically isolates the interrupted feeder
- 0:52and restores service to the remaining customers
- 0:54by transferring them to adjacent circuits. That
- 0:58means service continuity can be maintained more
- 1:00effectively while faulty sections can be located
- 1:03with greater accuracy. That is correct. The substations
- 1:07along the feeder are equipped with intelligent
- 1:09electronic devices and remote terminal units.
- 1:13These provide real -time monitoring and clear
- 1:16visibility into substation operations, which
- 1:19allows faster fault detection and faster restoration.
- 1:22In addition, Peer -to -peer modern communication
- 1:25protocols are used to ensure reliable data transmission
- 1:29between substations along the feeder and the
- 1:32distribution control center. This innovation
- 1:35is also important because it represents a practical
- 1:37application of operational intelligence in distribution
- 1:41networks. It contributes to higher reliability,
- 1:44better asset utilization efficiency, improved
- 1:47safety for technical teams by reducing unnecessary
- 1:50field interventions, and stronger decision -making
- 1:53based on accurate, real -time data. His Excellency
- 1:57Saeed Mohamed Altayar, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity
- 2:01and Water Authority, said, We continue to adopt
- 2:05smart and advanced solutions in electricity grid
- 2:07management and operation. in line with the vision
- 2:10of the wise leadership to make Dubai a city of
- 2:13the future and home to some of the most reliable,
- 2:16efficient, and sustainable energy networks in
- 2:19the world. The automatic smart grid restoration
- 2:22system represents a significant advancement in
- 2:25grid resilience, enabling immediate fault response,
- 2:28minimizing customer impact, and accelerating
- 2:31service restoration with high efficiency and
- 2:34operational accuracy. supported by real -time
- 2:37data and intelligent analytics. This innovation
- 2:41also reflects our commitment to strengthening
- 2:43business continuity and enhancing the readiness
- 2:46of critical infrastructure through a smart energy
- 2:49system capable of predicting, adapting to, and
- 2:52responding flexibly to a wide range of operational
- 2:55challenges, further consolidating Dubai's global
- 2:59leadership in smart and sustainable electricity
- 3:02grids.
