- 0:00Speaker 1: We will move on to previewing that very game that
- 0:03Speaker 1: we just talked about. The UNC TCU game that will
- 0:07Speaker 1: knock off or kick off the 2026 regular season week.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Zero noon Eastern. I believe is when this starts, which
- 0:16Speaker 1: is like four or 5. PM Dublin time. It's a
- 0:18Speaker 1: great time. I know that nobody's changing their plans right
- 0:21Speaker 1: now to go, but if you, if you're on the fence,
- 0:23Speaker 1: I would certainly say, go check that out. A lot
- 0:26Speaker 1: of fun. Um, Thoughts here. Listen, I've done this from
- 0:31Speaker 1: a TCU perspective. I'd really like to hone in on
- 0:34Speaker 1: UNC here, and I don't think it'll be an easy road.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I think the spread is set at seven and a half.
- 0:40Speaker 1: This segment is presented by PrizePix, since we just kind
- 0:42Speaker 1: of gave you the spread. What does UNC have to
- 0:45Speaker 1: do to win this game? Because Vegas says they feel
- 0:48Speaker 1: like it's somewhat close.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I think this will be somewhat close. I am fascinated
- 0:55Speaker 2: to see. what Bobby Petrino is able to do as
- 0:58Speaker 2: the offensive coordinator now at UNC? Have they made progress
- 1:02Speaker 2: in the offseason in terms of giving some, I don't know,
- 1:07Speaker 2: gusto to this offense because it was anemic last year?
- 1:11Speaker 2: Bringing in Billy Edwards, formerly of Maryland, formerly of Wisconsin,
- 1:16Speaker 2: there's confidence there because he did have a solid season
- 1:19Speaker 2: at Maryland two years ago. Last year was lost for
- 1:22Speaker 2: the season with Wisconsin. Wisconsin's had a ton of issues
- 1:25Speaker 2: with their quarterback health. I think Billy Edwards can provide
- 1:28Speaker 2: some confidence. He can do some things with his legs
- 1:31Speaker 2: to the point that we were just saying in our
- 1:32Speaker 2: segment presented by PrizePix in terms of the totals for
- 1:36Speaker 2: Jaden Craig, quarterback for TCU, and I know we'll get
- 1:39Speaker 2: to him in a minute. Billy Edwards being able to scoot,
- 1:42Speaker 2: being able to move potentially in a rainy environment. If
- 1:45Speaker 2: there is rain, it's Ireland. That happens all the time.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I'm not sure what the forecast looks like, but hey,
- 1:49Speaker 2: anything can happen. First game of the season, you're rusty.
- 1:52Speaker 2: We have seen how those games overseas don't always look
- 1:56Speaker 2: all that pretty, considering these players are just trying to
- 1:58Speaker 2: shake off the rust from camp and they're finally getting going.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I think Billy Edwards is going to be critical in
- 2:03Speaker 2: this game. I just don't have high expectations for this
- 2:06Speaker 2: to be an air raid offense all of a sudden,
- 2:09Speaker 2: and I know that was kind of the model that
- 2:11Speaker 2: Wisconsin was attempting to do with Billy Edwards last year.
- 2:14Speaker 2: It never really got off the ground. Billy Edwards was
- 2:17Speaker 2: not necessarily some, you know, high-powered gunslinger at Maryland a
- 2:21Speaker 2: handful of years ago. He is a tough runner, and
- 2:24Speaker 2: he is prepared to be physical, lower his shoulder, and
- 2:27Speaker 2: he plays a tough style of football. It reminds me
- 2:29Speaker 2: of almost a poor man's Haynes King a little bit.
- 2:33Speaker 2: So I'm very excited to see what this offense is
- 2:35Speaker 2: going to do. But this opening game of the season, Cole,
- 2:38Speaker 2: I defer to you on TCU. I just don't know
- 2:40Speaker 2: what to expect considering you're replacing Josh Hoover. You had
- 2:44Speaker 2: the issue over the last few weeks with Jake Fields
- 2:47Speaker 2: off the field obviously and he's no longer with the
- 2:50Speaker 2: team that was a big hit for the defense.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Yeah um can i just throw this out here and
- 2:54Speaker 3: i'm not trying to be disrespectful but did billy edwards
- 2:58Speaker 3: have to be the starting quarterback because if he's a
- 3:00Speaker 3: redhead and they're playing in ireland like did he have
- 3:02Speaker 3: to be the starting quarterback for that reason and i
- 3:05Speaker 3: was wondering like apparently miles o'neill was pushing him in
- 3:07Speaker 3: practice and then all of a sudden oh no we're
- 3:10Speaker 3: in dublin so the leprechaun's got to go ahead and
- 3:12Speaker 3: be qb1 for this matchup just just just.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Want to it helps i mean it doesn't hurt.
- 3:18Speaker 3: So from the TCU side of things, I'm really excited
- 3:21Speaker 3: to see what this offense looks like under new play
- 3:24Speaker 3: caller Gordon Sammis from UConn. UConn was a phenomenal offense
- 3:28Speaker 3: last year. I think if you guys remember the Duke game,
- 3:30Speaker 3: they went back and forth and they had one of
- 3:32Speaker 3: the better passers at what you would consider G5 level,
- 3:36Speaker 3: but technically they're an independent in Joe Fagnione. And then
- 3:39Speaker 3: you throw in Cam Edwards in the running game. So
- 3:41Speaker 3: this could be a really interesting battle. Jaden Craig comes
- 3:44Speaker 3: on in and you talk to some people around the
- 3:46Speaker 3: program and They don't think that he will be this
- 3:49Speaker 3: elite standout player.
- 3:51Speaker 2: But the.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Fond thoughts of Jaden Craig replacing Josh Hoover is somewhat
- 3:57Speaker 3: of a welcome sight. They're not as upset about watching
- 4:01Speaker 3: a quarterback now go into Kirk's genetic system as after
- 4:04Speaker 3: the turnovers he had for his two-plus seasons as a
- 4:07Speaker 3: starting quarterback down in Fort Worth. They still return Jordan Dwyer.
- 4:11Speaker 3: They still have Jeremy Payne, who was really, really hot
- 4:12Speaker 3: to close out last season. I think this is a
- 4:15Speaker 3: top-25 team. The offensive line is a concern, mainly because
- 4:18Speaker 3: of you replacing multiple starters. Defensively, Andy Avello still has
- 4:22Speaker 3: six guys back from a unit that finished, I think,
- 4:24Speaker 3: top half a season ago for TCU in the Big
- 4:26Speaker 3: 12 rankings. So there's a lot, I think, to like
- 4:29Speaker 3: about this game. What you have to remind yourself of
- 4:32Speaker 3: is the weather, right? Does that force you to change
- 4:34Speaker 3: up your offensive approach? Does it force you to take
- 4:37Speaker 3: away the aspect of maybe throwing it on early downs
- 4:40Speaker 3: and maybe have to go ahead and trust your run game? Now,
- 4:43Speaker 3: on the flip side, I believe you only returned three
- 4:46Speaker 3: starters defensively for Steve Belichick's unit that was underwhelming a
- 4:49Speaker 3: season ago. So the question is, is that a good
- 4:52Speaker 3: thing or a bad thing? Is watching guys leave your program,
- 4:56Speaker 3: now replacing them with guys who maybe have been a
- 4:58Speaker 3: part of the system but were debt pieces, a plus?
- 5:01Speaker 3: or a negative for the unit going into this matchup. Uh,
- 5:04Speaker 3: Jaden Craig's legs are going to be a big time deal.
- 5:07Speaker 3: His physicality is going to be a big time deal. Um,
- 5:09Speaker 3: I do agree with you on one thing. Billy Edwards
- 5:11Speaker 3: is one tough SOB guy gets hit a lot and
- 5:13Speaker 3: he has not been afraid to stand back up and
- 5:15Speaker 3: continue to play. So I'll give credit there, but you
- 5:18Speaker 3: really got to wonder if this becomes a battle in
- 5:21Speaker 3: the trenches, who do you trust more? Maybe a, of
- 5:25Speaker 3: TCU's offensive line, but certainly the uncertainty stands on the
- 5:29Speaker 3: opposing side with both sides of the trenches for a
- 5:31Speaker 3: team like UNC.
- 5:32Speaker 1: What's UNC's best path to pulling this upset, Cole?
- 5:36Speaker 3: I think that you'd probably have to rely a lot
- 5:38Speaker 3: on Demon June, the running back. He had a really
- 5:40Speaker 3: good close last season, and then you're going to need
- 5:42Speaker 3: one or two explosive plays. Jordan Shipp is their best receiver.
- 5:46Speaker 3: He had a really good close last year.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Hey guys, I'll get right back to the clip, but
- 5:50Speaker 1: first I want to tell you about our friends over
- 5:51Speaker 1: at Price Picks. Look at what is right next to me.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Actual game lineups, real more or less totals that you
- 5:58Speaker 1: can pick right now. Give me the more on Ashton
- 6:01Speaker 1: Daniels is rushing yards for Florida state and give me
- 6:03Speaker 1: the more on CJ Bailey's passing touchdowns for NC state.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Very much an ACC theme going with this one. You
- 6:11Speaker 1: can pick things from games that are actually happening this weekend.
- 6:14Speaker 1: No more season totals, no more national champs or make
- 6:18Speaker 1: the playoff or win this conference. Actual games are happening
- 6:21Speaker 1: this week and we could not be more excited. Use
- 6:23Speaker 1: the Price Picks app. Play $ 5 and win that first
- 6:25Speaker 1: lineup using code HMA, and you get $ 150 in lineups instantly. Again,
- 6:30Speaker 1: all new users get that deal if you win that
- 6:33Speaker 1: first lineup. Go check out the Price Picks app. Make
- 6:36Speaker 1: sure that you are subscribed, both here on College Football
- 6:38Speaker 1: Addiction and to The Power 2, which I've collabed this
- 6:41Speaker 1: video with. We appreciate Price Picks for their support. Now
- 6:44Speaker 1: back to the clip.
- 6:45Speaker 3: He's been so far to stand out at camp when
- 6:47Speaker 3: he's been out there. So I think that you're going
- 6:50Speaker 3: to need to have one or two plays to where
- 6:51Speaker 3: you're deep, where the TCU defense on anything available kind
- 6:54Speaker 3: of collapses and you get the explosives downfield and then
- 6:57Speaker 3: trust that you're running back inside. The red zone is
- 6:59Speaker 3: going to be able to punch it in for six.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Tom, what percentage chance would you give TCU to win
- 7:05Speaker 1: this over UNC? That's the thing.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Like it feels almost 50, 50. I think I favor
- 7:12Speaker 2: TCU going into this game. I think the pressure on
- 7:16Speaker 2: the UNC football program, maybe Bill Belichick specifically, to come
- 7:20Speaker 2: out with a win here, it's got to be substantial.
- 7:23Speaker 2: And it feels a little different. Obviously, last year you
- 7:27Speaker 2: were rolling this game out in your house and you
- 7:29Speaker 2: got thumped by TCU. And the Bill Belichick welcoming party
- 7:33Speaker 2: was over before it began. So it's almost like, hey,
- 7:35Speaker 2: we can turn the page and we can rinse and
- 7:37Speaker 2: repeat what we did last year. We're just going to
- 7:39Speaker 2: happen to do it in Ireland. It's a little bit strange, though.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I think TCU is in the right position to win
- 7:45Speaker 2: this game. But TJ, you've been over it to see
- 7:48Speaker 2: this game as a Florida State fan. Because it takes
- 7:51Speaker 2: place in Ireland, there are a lot of things that
- 7:53Speaker 2: are just unpredictable about this because of the travel, because
- 7:57Speaker 2: you're just coming out of camp. So it's really hard
- 7:59Speaker 2: to say what this is going to be. I almost
- 8:02Speaker 2: look at this as a 50-50. I almost look at
- 8:04Speaker 2: this as a coin flip game. But I think TCU
- 8:06Speaker 2: should have the advantage in this. And honestly, if I'm UNC...
- 8:10Speaker 2: I'm looking at my schedule and I'm wondering where I'm
- 8:13Speaker 2: going to get my wins this year. This is one
- 8:15Speaker 2: of the games where it's plausible. It's absolutely plausible. You
- 8:18Speaker 2: have Eastern Tennessee, I believe, after this. But you only
- 8:21Speaker 2: have a handful of games in ACC play where I
- 8:23Speaker 2: look at UNC and I'm like, yeah, I think they
- 8:25Speaker 2: can win this one. So if they even want to
- 8:28Speaker 2: sniff being bull eligible this year, they have to have
- 8:31Speaker 2: a game like this. And also it's sending a message
- 8:33Speaker 2: to the rest of the college football world of, hey,
- 8:35Speaker 2: we fixed some things and we're going to be competitive
- 8:38Speaker 2: this year.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Which they do think they've fixed some things, right? They
- 8:41Speaker 1: made some changes. They have a new offensive coordinator. They've
- 8:44Speaker 1: got some things that are different than they were. Will
- 8:47Speaker 1: those changes pay off?
- 8:48Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I'll lean TCU here. I do think they're a team that,
- 8:53Speaker 1: I mean, again, UNC just was not very good last year.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I do think it's a massive opportunity really for both
- 8:59Speaker 1: teams to, it is so hard to go over there
- 9:02Speaker 1: and win. And Florida State wasn't a great team. Kansas
- 9:05Speaker 1: State was a little bit down last year. But I'll
- 9:07Speaker 1: tell you this. I'm leaning TCU right now. That might
- 9:09Speaker 1: be what the UNC fans want to hear. I picked
- 9:11Speaker 1: FSU two years ago, and I picked Kansas State last year.
- 9:13Speaker 1: And so 0 for 2 on picking Dublin games the
- 9:15Speaker 1: last two years. Maybe that means North Carolina is going
- 9:17Speaker 1: to win this game. But I would lean TCU when
- 9:21Speaker 1: you really look at it. But it would be a
- 9:23Speaker 1: massive statement for North Carolina to win this. Because, again,
- 9:26Speaker 1: then it does kind of bring into question in a
- 9:29Speaker 1: not very good conference, right? It's Miami. And then it's
- 9:33Speaker 1: Louisville SMU, maybe Clemson, and it seems like everybody else
- 9:36Speaker 1: after that, right? In a not very good conference where
- 9:39Speaker 1: we're looking at their schedule saying, where do they pick
- 9:41Speaker 1: up the wins needed to get to a bowl game?
- 9:44Speaker 1: Picking this one up would be huge because then I
- 9:46Speaker 1: think you start to look at the rest of their
- 9:47Speaker 1: schedule and say, well, yeah, I still don't have them
- 9:49Speaker 1: be an upper echelon in the ACC. But if they
- 9:52Speaker 1: can beat TCU in a neutral site game, there's no
- 9:55Speaker 1: reason they can't pick up a couple of more wins
- 9:56Speaker 1: in the ACC than maybe those prognosticating were expecting. So
- 10:00Speaker 1: UNC has a very low win total this year. I
- 10:02Speaker 1: think it's four and a half. I don't know if
- 10:03Speaker 1: anybody wants to check me on that or not. They
- 10:06Speaker 1: aren't expected to perform very well in conference or out
- 10:09Speaker 1: of conference. It's a very tough schedule this year. Last
- 10:11Speaker 1: year was kind of the silver platter of a schedule
- 10:14Speaker 1: for a welcome to Bill Belichick, and they miserably failed
- 10:17Speaker 1: that one. But, man, if they could pick this one up,
- 10:19Speaker 1: I'm telling you, that would be a team that I
- 10:22Speaker 1: don't think strikes fear into anybody. But just a team
- 10:25Speaker 1: you have to take a little more seriously. You're not
- 10:26Speaker 1: just chalking it up as an auto win if you're
- 10:29Speaker 1: an ACC opponent. A lot more things get a lot
- 10:31Speaker 1: more interesting to me if they win. Whereas on TCU's side,
- 10:35Speaker 1: my buddy Dracon, to talk about this from the Big
- 10:37Speaker 1: 12 angle. He said TCU's destined for 8-4 one way
- 10:40Speaker 1: or the other. They're kind of the A & M
- 10:43Speaker 1: of the Big 12. So he said it doesn't really
- 10:45Speaker 1: matter what happens for them in this game. That's what
- 10:46Speaker 1: Sonny Dykes is about to do, which he said in jest,
- 10:50Speaker 1: but probably has some truth to it. So I don't know.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I think it is a sloppy game just because whether
- 10:55Speaker 1: the weather holds up or not, it always seems to rain.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Just all the other things, being over there, all the
- 11:02Speaker 1: pep rallies and all the pregame, it's just weird. So
- 11:06Speaker 1: low scoring, I think I'll say it's a good game, though.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I'll will this into existence. 24-21, TCU.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I'm just excited. I'm just excited to watch football again.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I am going to be glued to my TV for
- 11:21Speaker 2: as many of these games as I can.
- 11:22Speaker 3: I think that TCU is a top 25 team going
- 11:26Speaker 3: into the year. I have my questions with their offensive line.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Drake's not entirely wrong. They're probably going to be an 8-4.
- 11:32Speaker 3: If things can go their way, though, they may end
- 11:34Speaker 3: up breaking on through and being that 9-3, 10-2 dark
- 11:38Speaker 3: horse for the Big 12 title game. That being said,
- 11:41Speaker 3: I have my hair and my beard on the line
- 11:44Speaker 3: to do a shaving during the middle of a live stream,
- 11:47Speaker 3: so I will be taking TCU to win this game
- 11:50Speaker 3: and win this game pretty convincingly by at least 10.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I will go 28-17. I think they find a way
- 11:54Speaker 3: to pull away late.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Prediction here, Tom? Go ahead. Take the heels. Take the heels.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Do it to him, Tom. I'm not doing that.
- 12:07Speaker 2: I'm taking TCU. I'll take TCU 27 to 20.
- 12:14Speaker 1: So at least we got some good games going if
- 12:15Speaker 1: Tom and I are in control. And Coles isn't.
