- Micaiah: Hello everybody. Welcome. It's Fourth and One Podcast. I'm your host, Captain Boyne today. I'm alongside my guy, Roberto Conqueso. He's rocking a great kind of summary. Fourth of July ish NASCAR hat. Went to the Poconos this weekend. You had fun. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. It's always a good time, man. Micaiah: ⁓ so Elephant in the Room or Elephant Out of the Room, Brendan Soresby declared for the supplemental draft. So the saga of Brendan Soresby is finally over. And that's just wonderful all around for college football fans, and I think for the integrity of the game. Just to summarize for everyone, and then I'm gonna get Robert's thoughts on one question he posed in the group chat earlier. ⁓ so Brendan Soresby gets the injunction against the NCAA. Then people kind of throw a temper tantrum and everyone says how wrong this is, and they are right in this situation. And then before Brendan Soresby declared for the draft, the Big 12 went to a federal judge and said, basically asked for permission to be able to enforce their own rules. What they asked for ⁓ specifically is ⁓ they asked for a declaratory judgment that the First Amendment protects the conference right to invoke its authority under the bylaws to sanction Texas Tech related to the handling of betting activity discussed in this complaint, including if Texas Tech feet fields a student athlete in the Big 12 competition who has engaged in collegiate sports. Betting activity. Again, they just went to a judge and said, if we suspend Brandon Sorsby, if we find Texas Tech anything, they don't have, they're not allowed to come back at us and sue us. And Brendan Sorsby's not allowed to come back and sue us. And with all that noise, Brendan Sorsby said, I'm out, I'm going to the supplemental draft. That's a recap for everyone. Does the NFL, is the NFL gonna care? Should the NFL care that He gambled on college sports. Roberto Con Queso: I mean, I would hope so, 'cause that's kind of one of the big things with the NFL is, you know, you're supposed to be you're supposed to be under a microscope the entire time. On the field, off the field. And it's kind of a big you know, a big judgment of character, you would assume. And you have to if you're the owner, you have to wonder is he going to do it again? Especially with him being a quarterback, like Those that's you're supposed to be your franchise guy. Like if if you are an Eagles fan and Jalen Hurts is called out because he's gambling, not saying he is, but if he was in the just like how Soresby would, a lot of it would go back and go, Wow, you know, there was a couple of throws that really just didn't seem like a normal Jalen throw. So you're kind of creating a really bad environment for your team. And you're opening yourself up for just tremendous amounts of speculation. But good. Micaiah: You you I was just gonna say you said in the group chat your exact words were ⁓ ESPN Dominic Fockworth are saying NFL teams should not be concerned about SORSB, and that's just inherently wrong. They the NF the the thing that the NFL protects most is the NFL, right? And if integrity is compromised, they're not gonna I mean Jamison, and I hate to bring this up again, but Jamison Williams didn't even bet on NFL football. He just bet other sports in the facility and got suspended. So I guess my question to ESPN, right? If that's what you're saying, that's the overline story is do have you not been around for the last like 20 years? Roberto Con Queso: Well as like they were all talk they of course they were it was a panel, they were going around and like they were asking about it. And it was just there they kept talking about if you are a team that needs a quarterback like Soresby would be a good fit for you and they're like, you know Would you know he'd be under more of a microscope in the NFL and you know he'd they don't think he would you know, it would happen again and, you know, kind of Kind of downplaying the problem that is the fact that he has had slash has a gambling problem. And it's like, yeah, if if and then they were saying that if they had him ranked like before Jordan Tyson in the draft, which would have been like late first round, and I like, I don't know, whatever. But the whole thing is. Micaiah: No problem. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: He had a problem. And it's a bit and it's a big problem. Because if he does it again, you know, you're an NFL team, you're making tens of millions, if not hundreds of million dollar investment in a player that you have to trust isn't going to make the same mistake again. Micaiah: Has a problem, sure. Roberto Con Queso: So it's I don't know. I don't know how it in unless there is something that they can do to just keep an eye on him the entire time and just regulate everything he does outside of playing football. I I don't it would just be very hard to trust him, I would think. Micaiah: The one thing I I I agree with you. I I think it's very hard to trust him. But let's flip to on the field. I think it's hard to trust him because last year they started really hot. Cincinnati, week one lost to Nebraska, and then they fell off. And I had even forgotten that they were one and seven heading into November. And then in 2025, they lost four. 45 to 14 to Utah, 20 to 30 to Arizona, 26-14 to BYU, and then they lost to TCU 45-23. They to finish seven to five. They lost four out of their last five games. And he did not play well in those games. He had a combined let's see, what is that? Seven touchdowns to four interceptions. Down down the stretch. Like he was good for he ate up the bad Big Twelve, but then when it got to the good Big Twelve, he was not good. And if you fast forward back to 2024, it's much of the same. Good early in the season, and then they lost their last five games. And he was not good in those games either down the stretch. So I don't know why people were. arguing over Brandon Sorsby and he was gonna get paid five million dollars. I think they looked at the twenty eight touchdowns to five interceptions that he had last season and was like, ⁓ he can be really productive if if we put a lot around him. But I don't even know how much value there is for him in the NFL because everyone at this point I think is locked in to next year's quarterback draft. I would think more talent. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. That's I mean that's I would I would say yeah. And I think that's probably why he stayed. Micaiah: Right, o originally, yeah, sure. Roberto Con Queso: Is right. Yeah. I don't know. I was looking up to see if I could find what Foxworth like actually like fully said. And it was like while while he acknowledged the severity of the betting issues, he emphasized that because Soresby is a franchise defining player, his immense talent talent makes him a tantalizing option for teams. Micaiah: Sure. ⁓ and my point Roberto Con Queso: Бо the issue. Micaiah: Yeah, yeah. And my point is he's talented. I would not say immense talented, right? Trevor Lawrence, Paint Manning, they're immense talents. So is Brent is Sworesby worth all this trouble for NFL teams? Roberto Con Queso: I know. Well, I guess I guess it almost becomes how Shadur was. Where you kinda were looking at how did you want to manage Shadur and Dion going to whatever team, like the risk of like I guess the the media risk that you would run it that that you were running in with with that situation. Now for Cleveland it kinda it kind of works out. You know, Shadur Micaiah: Would he be for you? Roberto Con Queso: had a good second half of the season, but I would probably take Shador over Soresby. I think. So Micaiah: ⁓ yeah, yeah. I I ⁓ Shadur fell in the draft to me last year 'cause of his attitude, not 'cause of his talent. He was talented enough to go higher in the draft, I thought. Roberto Con Queso: Right, but it but his attitude was the was the problem. That was the do you want do you wanna take the risk on that? Do you wanna take the exposure risk with, you know, him and him and Dion and Micaiah: Show ⁓ I I see what you're saying. Right. Right, right. I right, I see what you're saying. So you're just swapping the problems. ⁓ becoming an NFL legend is not unheard of coming out of the supplement supplemental draft. Chris Carter was drafted in the fourth round by the Eagles, Bernie Kozar was drafted in the first round by the Browns, Brian Bosworth, first round by the Seahawks, Josh Gordon, he was just an excellent talent who I mean in today's NFL would wouldn't have gotten suspended for his marijuana use second round by the Browns and Jamal Williams in nineteen ninety eight, second round by the Chargers. So hey, I mean, it's all still out there in front of Br Brendan Soresby. I as an NFL team, if I if I'm the Cardinals, I'm not touching it. Cardinals, Jets, you know, anyone bad, because I'm waiting for next year. And then anyone good, do you really want the media headache? Right? I think that's what you got to ask yourself. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, you gotta be you have to be just ready for what everything and anything that comes and you gotta own it. You know, you can't you can't take ⁓ and then something happened, then ⁓ come down like, well, we really didn't know this was like gonna happen. We weren't aware and it's like, no, it's you know, the elephants in the room you're either gonna open the door and fit the elephant through. Micaiah: Right. Roberto Con Queso: Or you're gonna say, I'm gonna pass on this door, we're just gonna move on. Micaiah: Right, right. ⁓ who who didn't own it for this entire time was Texas Tech. You see that twenty one minute video that they released but before all this? So it just ridiculous. You know, it was it was just them sitting around the table defending their actions and why? If you're Texas Tech at the moment, you got away with it, right? You helped this kid get eligible that you paid five million dollars to, which if Roberto Con Queso: Yes. Yes. Micaiah: If you s suspend him, my guess is in the contract, he doesn't get any of that five million. So just just own it and be like, yeah. But no, they tried to defend it and just d defend the school's character and his character. And it just it was 21 minutes, too long, didn't read, didn't watch it, like you only saw the highlights. Like, what are we doing, Texas Tech? Like, take some accountability for your actions, man up, suspend him, do the right thing, but now they don't gotta worry about it. Which kinda bothers me. And these judges need to stop getting in the way and all but also the conferences kind of need to man up and take charge just of the situation. However, the conferences are made up of what? University presidents, right? So everyone wants to make money. So no one w so t so because if you do it to them, then their school might be affected. But in this case, they they should have. Just done it. And I'm glad that they took the steps to start the process and kind of scare him off. But the fact that they have to run to local jud to a federal judge to basically make a ruling that if they if the Big Twelve suspend someone, that they won't be punished is just ridiculous. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Yeah. Micaiah: It it also opens up the door. You were telling me about this. Earlier this week, under the radar, a Clemson wide receiver got his fifty year of eligibility. His name's Tristan Smith. and the lawyers cited the Soresby case, right? Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ it ended up the it was like a combination 'cause they did the Pavia because of the JUCO and then there was an and then there was some someone else. I thought it I thought I read that it was they referenced the Soresby case in order to get however but I think it's just because they used the same route. Micaiah: Sure. Right. ⁓ okay, sure. Roberto Con Queso: So it wasn't like they referenced everything going on, but they just went to the specific types of judges to get Further. Micaiah: Right, right, which therein lies the problem. R right now it's not the NCAA that's the problem, for once, right? It's the local judges. And I don't know how you get the local judges out from these injunction hearings, because there always going to be judges around in circuit courts around the college town in which they're trying to get an injunction. So of course the judge is gonna do that. Which I think is rid is ridiculous. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I mean it I don't I don't know how I don't know how they get around it. Like there's nothing like I it doesn't make sense how you're just going to a judge and they're like you're good. But it's like normally if you're going I always thought it's like, okay, you go to a judge, you probably did something wrong, right? And it's like, okay, are you guilty or not guilty? Did you gamble? Yeah. Okay. Guilty. Then you can't play, but then it's like, did you gamble? Yep. Who do you play for though? Well, I play for Texas Tech now. It's like, all right, yeah, you're good. It just I don't you know, and it might not be that way, but it's just the way it seems. Like, maybe they need to go to judges outside of the state. Something. Micaiah: Well, and and that's and I'm no lawyer, but that's what I don't fully get. How does like a local judge keep him and because college football is so national and and across the state line, how does that keep like how does that work in other states, right? Like that I just don't I I I don't understand the ins and outs of the judicial system for sure. Roberto Con Queso: Right. Like what if this was a local judge but they were a Longhorns fan? It would he roll differently? I would assume no because he because you know the moral honor code and stuff like that. But I guess you never know in the same sense. Micaiah: Probably. Sure, right. I really wonder the NCAA also filed an appeal when ⁓ Big Twelve took Texas Tech to federal court before all this, ⁓ before he went to supplemental draft. The NCA also filed an filed an appeal. I really because of the public backlash, I wonder if that other judge that they filed the appeal with, if he would have overturned every any everything. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I don't know. I guess that's one of those things we're never we're never gonna find out now that it's essentially over with, but not really, because I still feel like Texas Tech is should still like not be penalized, but like just be like, Listen, like you guys were part of the problem. Micaiah: Publicly scorned. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Like y like you guys were gonna let something happen that really shouldn't happen. Micaiah: Right. Right. ⁓ On the field now, Texas Tech is down to what one quarterback? That Will Hammond kid? Roberto Con Queso: I think so, yeah. I mean that's well, and that's kinda like what we talked about when we picked the teams that we thought were going to Like they were our the our fall off teams. And and Texas Tech was a big one because it all depended on if Soresby was gonna play or not. And now Soresby's not playing. So, I mean this looks really bad for Texas Tech now. And we both said naf if ⁓ Micaiah: ⁓ right, right, right, right. Yeah. No, I was just gonna say 'cause Hammond's coming off an ACL. Roberto Con Queso: Right. And if you're Texas, you take now you take the invitation to play and you make Texas Tech pay all the money. Because Micaiah: ⁓ but you can't lose that game. That's embarrassing though. Roberto Con Queso: No, you can't. And then but that could also be one of those like season defining wins for either team. Because Texas could go in, win, look like the hero of Texas, they beat Texas Tech who was causing issues, or your Texas Tech standing up to Texas after a big everything going on, and you win that game, and that just gives you momentum for the season. Micaiah: Yeah. So Texas Texas is gonna have to figure out what they're doing at quarterback. ⁓ I we were w to completely change topics away from college football almost entirely. ⁓ we me and Carrie are watching the Hulk Hogan documentary. It's something I don't understand about my wife. She hates WWE. She hates wrestling. She finds that I find it interesting, an ick. She finds wrestling itself a a giant red flag, ick, the world's biggest ick. ⁓ however, she loved the Vince McMahon documentary on Netflix, and she's loving this Hulk Hogan documentary on Netflix. What I had to chuckle at is Hulk Hogan headlined the first WrestleMania at Madison Square Garden. And they were interviewing in this documentary, it shows like TV clips and they're interviewing this one guy and goes, Yep, it's real expensive. Get in here. ⁓ how much did you pay for your ticket? ⁓ I paid a hundred bucks for my ticket. Could could you get a ticket right now at WrestleMania the upcoming WrestleMania or any WrestleMania in the last two years for a hundred dollars? Roberto Con Queso: Heck yeah, brother. I think you could, but it's like you're you're getting a nosebleed from how high up you are. But I mean I think tech I think technically you could. If not, it's really close. I think it's between one hundred to one hundred and fifty, just way up there to where they look like ants. But Micaiah: Yeah. Yeah, j just just fighting on ⁓ fighting on a mat. That I I had to chuckle at that just cause how much the WWE is just taking off. And that was nineteen eighty-three, so forty-three years ago, something like that, you know, around the n early nineteen eighties, I think the first WrestleMania was. So we're I'm really enjoying that, ⁓ that documentary. So go check that out on Netflix. just a very kind of interesting man and Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Micaiah: He was the WWE's first you've taught me everything I I wanna know and you've taught me everything I do know about wrestling. He was WWE's first real main star, right? Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ dude, he was a s he was he was it. You know, between him and Rick, but it was mainly mainly Hogan. I mean he was the flag for years. Superhero. Eat your vitamins. Micaiah: Who did was he around when Stone Cold was around? Roberto Con Queso: Towards the end, like it would have been like early two thousands when Hogan kind of was finishing up to where like Stone Cold was and everything. So they overlap a little bit, but he was well past his prime. Micaiah: Okay. It it is so people say I've heard you say Stone Cold's the greatest of all time. In the documentary, Hogan says he's the greatest of all time. Are are they like one one and two? However you however you want to order them. Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ I would say when it comes to saying who the greatest overall is, it's definitely an op ⁓ like it's your it's an opinion. But I would say they're probably one one one A. Cause it like Stone Cole was to me, he was like the greatest wrestler of all time because he the era that he was introduced in and then he care helped carry for Micaiah: Okay. Roberto Con Queso: Through the Monday Night Wars and everything with WCW. And then Hogan, I mean, it was like the beginning of WWF all the way up. So if you're like in your fifties and sixties, Hogan was the man. But if you're in your t ⁓ thirties, twenties, Stone Cold ⁓ is a hundred percent. So you could say either one of them, it's like one one A. Micaiah: Did did Hogan leave WWE to go to WCW? Am I remembering that correctly? Right? So I'm sure that's coming up in the documentary, but I I thought I remember that from the Vince McMahon. So really, because that Vince McMahon documentary did not do it justice. If Hogan was the flagship guy for WWE and he kind of effed off to WCW, that was a huge, huge loss for them. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Yeah. ⁓ yeah, dude. It was when you wanna talk about some of the most shocking things, especially in the wrestling world, that's probably top five, if not number one. Just because he was you know, he was WWF at that point. Like that was you said, Hey, are you watching WF? It's like, Yep, I'm watching Hulk Hogan tonight. You know, and that just the amount of Micaiah: Okay. Roberto Con Queso: money that he would bring in and he was the the one that would fill the seats. Micaiah: They WWE like I I don't know right now doesn't have anyone like that. I I think I w I I'm safe to say. Like there's no one I there's no one drawing the casual fan as in myself to WWE right now. Is that fair to say? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, would say it's I would say, yeah. I mean, they have Roman Reigns, but he's there I think it's kinda hard right now, just because the product is kinda like it's not stale, but there's just nothing grabbing newer fans into it. But I I also don't know how how you would go about it. Cause I think they did it with Cody. Like back in WrestleMania 40 when like his whole story I think they got a bunch of fans in, but I think that's also why you're seeing a lot more ⁓ the wrestlers are on like the d ⁓ the daily shows, the new like the news things, ESPN. They've had a bunch of them on, and that's all their pay per views, like the first hour is on ESPN two or whatever. So it's like they're trying to lore like say, Hey, come check this out. And stuff like that. So I mean they're trying. Micaiah: Alright, back to college football, I suppose. I I I don't know how to ⁓ wait, are we back? Are are we gone? Okay, all right. after last year after last week's technical difficulties, we hold our breath for ⁓ this entire show. on three, ⁓ Ari w Wasserman did a ranking the top ten wide receivers Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ there we are. Whoa. I'm back. Micaiah: in college football entering the 2026 season, right? This will not be the final list and I'm j and I saw this on the internet, so I quick like grabbed it. ⁓ and just to give us a talking point here, kind of jumping in. So I I I'll go through the 10 that he has and then I'll let's just see what you think. Number one is Jeremiah Smith. I think that's pretty easy. Number two is Malachi is Malachi Tony. I also easy easy. Roberto Con Queso: That's easy. Easy. Micaiah: Cam Coleman, he goes from Auburn, he's now at Texas. KJ Duff at Rutgers, come back to that one. Charlie Becker, kind of emerged last midseason for Indiana. Deuce Robinson is still at Florida State somehow. Ryan Coleman Williams, Robert, has already started boiling his blood. Nick Marsh at Indiana, Decorium Moore at Oregon, and Cooper Barkate. At Miami. Honorable mentions include Mario Craver, Ryan Wingo, Eric Singleton, Dallas Wilson, TJ Moore, and Bryant Westcoe, Andrew Marsh at Michigan, Evan Stewart and Jeremiah McClellan at Oregon, Mike Matthews, Tennessee, Isaiah Satanya at Oklahoma, and White Young, Oklahoma State. Problems with this list. Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ I don't th I don't really see too many problems with the list. I guess. I mean, obviously one and two are easy. 'Cause Jeremiah Smith is I still think he's probably gonna end up being probably the greatest wide receiver that Ohio State's had. If he has if he has another great year. I mean Micaiah: He already has twenty seven touchdowns. Roberto Con Queso: That's what I mean. Like but then again, when you look at Ohio State's offense, it's an i call it what you want, it's an air aid offense. That's what it is. ⁓ Micaiah: Right, yeah. They're using the talent they got, right? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, which rightfully so. There's nothing wrong with that. ⁓ my with Tony at Miami Tony at Miami. ⁓ I get that's gonna come I think his is gonna come down to quarterback play. To where, you know, he had Carson Beck and it just worked out so good for them. So we'll have to see 'cause I who's her quarterback this year? ⁓ Micaiah: There you go. So Darien Mensah. That's a very interesting because Mensa was not bad last year. When he when he was good, when he didn't turn the ball over, Duke was really awesome, right? Story of every quarterback's life. So is he gonna turn the ball over or not? I don't know. 109 receptions, 1200 yards. Roberto Con Queso: Mensa, yeah. Yeah, I and that's what I like. Tony's biggest thing is obviously his speed. So it's gonna be either getting him the ball quick on those quick outs and like the bubble screens that they did very well with last year, or you're gonna have to try and run him deep, which I'm sure he has the speed that's gonna be able to do that. Micaiah: More attention will be put on him and Jeremiah Smith coming back around. Did you know who KJ Duff was? Okay. I Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Yeah. No. The names that I knew were the ones that actually were on like the honorable mention, like Wingo. ⁓ he was at Georgia Tech. Now he's at ⁓ Florida. Yeah. Singleton. And I mean he could have a great year too, but again, all depends on quarterback play. And 'cause DJ's not there, right? Did DJ leave? Yeah. He's at Baylor. Which that could be very good. Micaiah: Yeah. ⁓ singleton? Yeah. Correct. He's at Baylor. Yeah, Baylor. Yeah, Baylor find does Baylor have a new coach? Roberto Con Queso: I mean ⁓ for Baylor's sake, I hope. Micaiah: Ha ha Roberto Con Queso: 'Cause they weren't they've ki they've kind of been stuck in the mud too. Micaiah: ⁓ it's still Dave Aranda. my goodness. Roberto Con Queso: Which they might be due for a good year this year because they are they Baylor was good, bad for a couple of years, then they were good, bad for a couple years. I feel like it's been a couple years. So now they they're due for a good one. Micaiah: It it's kind of been mediocre since they made the Big Twelve since they were Big Twelve champions back in twenty twenty one. Y yeah, yeah. Roberto Con Queso: That's what I'm saying. It's been a couple of years. And now they got DJ Lagway, who's been Micaiah: Yeah who who would y yeah. Roberto Con Queso: But also but but also we could have to attribute that to the coaching as well. Micaiah: Yeah, who who the coach was. ⁓ KJ Duff, sixty receptions, one thousand eighty-four yards, seven touchdowns. I did not respect his game enough. So he is six six, two twenty-five. So I'm just throwing that out there. ⁓ he's definitely got it. However, who's gonna be like, I guess when has Rutgers ever produced a top end talent at wide receiver? And when you are Rutgers They're pouring more money into their football program. I do remember that being a ⁓ headline, but who's also gonna be their quarterback to get them the quarterback? Charlie Becker. I will not pick against un until proven otherwise, I'm not picking against Kirk Signetti and Indiana anymore. Just that's just where I'm at as a college football fan. I would like to see what the offense looks like when it's not So RPO and run game centric. And maybe Indiana will just push people around again this year. I I don't know. Roberto Con Queso: I get so I wanna say Charlie Becker's production probably goes down this year. Just because they added Nick Marsh. Micaiah: Okay. Yeah, who's also on this list. Roberto Con Queso: That would that would be my guess. Yeah. ⁓ 'cause he was a disappointment at Michigan State, essentially. But again, Michigan State last year was a disappointment. Almost beat Michigan, but you just didn't. ⁓ also at Michigan State literally everyone's leaving that program. The athletic director le the athletic director left. Like, they have just people leaving, which I don't really know why, but Micaiah: Yeah. Right now? ⁓ Roberto Con Queso: At Indiana, he probably could do very well. I mean, he had fifty nine catches and six hundred and sixty two yards and six touchdowns on a very mediocre team ran by Aiden Chiles. But I Indiana could be very good or they could be average. But like a but like the good average, like the nine three, ten, two kind of area. Yeah. Micaiah: Yeah, sure. Like nine and three. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Sure. Josh Hoover is gonna be very interesting because you go from an airway system under Sunny not Sunny Styles. Sunny Dykes, is that his name? Roberto Con Queso: Yes. Sonny styles. Micaiah: Okay, all right. What'd I say? ⁓ the he's the yeah, the linebacker for Ohio State, right? Yeah. ⁓ he goes from air raid to more of an RPO kind of run-heavy offense. I I'm just still in shock that Indiana is is a national powerhouse, what they are, but again, I can't bet against Kirk Sanetti. I won't until proven otherwise. I just really want to see how again, it's the whole early Saban era. when he would lose a bunch of guys and you're just like, Well, I'm not sure how he's gonna do this and then it got to be like, I'm not sure how he's gonna do this, but he's gonna pull it off anyway. Anyway, like is that jumping I'm asking myself, am I jumping the gun on Kirk Cinetti to be like, Well, not sure how he's gonna reload, but he will anyway Roberto Con Queso: What is it the well we don't know how he's gonna be, and then it turns into how does he keep doing this? Kind of like scenarios. But yeah, it we're gonna find out very quickly, you know, if was this a flash in the pan kind of deal? Did he just get the right pieces in the right time in the right place? Or is he I mean, we know he's Micaiah: Yeah. Right. Right. Roberto Con Queso: the real deal coaching wise, 'cause he was good very good at JMU, very good at I you know, IUP and everything like that, so he knows how to win. But is he gonna be consistent with Indiana? Micaiah: ⁓ Indiana's gonna start the season. One, two, three, four, five Six and ⁓ They're gonna start six and ⁓ they're gonna beat North Texas, Howard, West Kentucky, Northwestern, Rutgers, and Nebraska. Sorry, Nebraska. That's just where I'm at. Their first real game is October 17th versus Ohio State. And then the next week they get Michigan. And then they get Minnesota, get the bye week, USC, Washington, and then Perdon. So they're yeah, they're traffic. Roberto Con Queso: Trap game. Micaiah: Their hardest three games are five weeks apart. And there I would say their hardest two are SmackDab in the middle of the season, back-to-back weeks, Ohio State, and then you go on the road to Michigan. So you're really gonna kind of find out what you're made of. And I'm not gonna make any judgments on Indiana until Minnesota week. Like that's how And I kind of feel like that's the recipe for it was for Michigan and it was for Ohio State. And then again last year for Indiana. It's just easy games up front. And then about November, then you start to get tested. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, and that's I just feel like that's the Big Ten way. No, it's changing a little bit 'cause Michigan's playing Oklahoma, Ohio State's playing in Texas. They're kind we're sprinkling in some tougher teams. Wisconsin's even playing Alabama. ⁓ but overall it's you skate through your non conference, you play your Micaiah: Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: Bottom half big ten schools and then around late October, early November, you play the better portion of the Big Ten. And the and and around that time you know you know what's going on, you're feeling everything, you get your teams ready to go. Like imagine if the very first game of the season was Michigan Ohio State. We would have no clue who either team is coming out of that. Ohio Ohio State could dominate and then the rest of the year they would be average. Michigan could dominate and then they could not win another game the entire season. Micaiah: Right. Yeah. I I like as a fan of the team, right, for Michigan's ⁓ national championship year, like it was nice, but it was super boring. Like to not to know that you're walking in and all you gotta do is not step on a rake for nine weeks of the season and then you gotta get on the edge of your couch the last three weeks, where it's kinda nice to every Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Micaiah: two or three games be on the edge of your seat a little bit and not be so bored. Roberto Con Queso: Well the I mean, the most entertaining portion of the season was ⁓ Michigan's cheating. Everyone online is saying Michigan's cheating. Everything happens with Harbaugh. And then Michigan runs it 7,000 times against Penn State and wins. And then it's just like kept going. Okay, now they play Ohio State, beat Ohio State. Okay. Now we get stuck with either Iowa or Purdue in the Big Ten Championship games. And it was like, ⁓ I wonder how this game's gonna go. Micaiah: It was Purdue. Yeah. Yeah, one of the two. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: And then it was okay, now it's really exciting because now we're playing Alabama. And it was like it didn't get exciting until Michigan got accused of cheating. So it was like Micaiah: I I will say the SEC, right? It just means more. They claim it just means more doesn't equal that they're better at football. The SEC is kind of backwards, I think. Big Ten, easy games, whatever. Nothing gets exciting until November. The SEC for me is it's exciting in September, mid-September through the middle of October. And then by the time November hits, you kind of know who the players are anyway. So then you forget about the bottom of the SEC. Right. So so they are good early, bad late, big tens, bad early, good late. And then you have this match of the two conferences arguing over over who who's better. ⁓ Ryan Coleman Williams being seven on this list. I can hear your blood boiling from here. You are not a big believer in him. He finished last year with forty nine receptions, six hundred and eighty nine yards, four touchdowns. He had ⁓ how many drops did he have l last year? So man so many. Roberto Con Queso: I mean his high his highlight reel was him dropping. Like he went from ESPN saying this is the greatest wide receiver on the face of the earth because he's what seventeen years old, eighteen years old, whatever. Because he was young. And then it was like his second year, all of a sudden he couldn't catch anything. And it you know, it'll would I like to see him bounce back? Yes. Micaiah: Yeah, what yeah. Roberto Con Queso: But not really, because I don't like Alab because I don't want Alabama to get better because my Caitlin Deboer prediction still looks really good. ⁓ but for his sake, for his sake, I do hope he gets better because I think he could probably transition to the NFL very well. He could be like a d ⁓ Devonta Smith kind of player. But yeah, I mean, the fall from Grace. ⁓ you know. Micaiah: Being right above all else. Roberto Con Queso: How much do you put that on quarterback play? I I don't know because they were that quarterback play was better than Jalen Milrose quarterback play. Micaiah: Yeah, people hated on Ty Simpson and I thought he was I thought what hurt Ty Simpson was the fact that they couldn't run the football. Dude. Roberto Con Queso: So The offensive line. Like yeah. ⁓ Ty Simpson to me was he was at he was consistent. You kind of knew what you were getting. It was just you had to give him the time to do it. Where when it was Milro, it was like, I don't know, he's either gonna run for 400 or throw for a thousand, or we're getting nothing. We don't really know. Micaiah: Yeah. ⁓ Alabama's schedule, you're not gonna find out about you're gonna find out, and again, here's where it's the SEC good early, bad late sort of deal. Perfect example of this. So Alabama's problem last year was the offensive line. You're gonna find out very early on whether they fixed that problem or not, right? Because they get eat East Carolina, whatever, throw that game out. Then they go on the road to to Kentucky. We'll see how they are under Will Stein, but historically that program early September, October. Roberto Con Queso: Roger Field. Micaiah: Cro at Kroger Field has been able to stand on business early in the season. I'm just going to assume new coach, whatever, ⁓ Transfer Portal, whatever, they're going to be able to stand on some sort of business. Then they get Florida State at home. We'll see how Florida State is, so we still don't know. But then here we go: South Carolina, Mississippi State, and Georgia all before, and then you get the third Saturday in October for the 17th, and then AM. Alabama's actually schedules kind of tough because then the next week you get LSU, and then here's where it's kind of bad late, which is Vanderbilt. I think Vanderbilt sees a drop-off, Chattanooga, obviously, and R Auburn, I still think just isn't up to Alabama's standards, given although given it's a rivalry game. So Alabama's gonna figure out their running game, whether or not they're good or not, like very early. And I and I think by middle of October. You're gonna know whether Alabama's good or not. Miami also brought in, I did not realize until I just read it, Cooper Barcate. He was his top target last year, Mensa's top target last year at Duke. I didn't know that. Tennessee's just gonna hit the ground running. Or Tennessee. ⁓ my goodness. Forgive me. Miami's just gonna hit the ground run ⁓ ground running. I think Mar I would have taken Ryan Williams, Coleman Williams off the list. I would have put Mar. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, we get it. Micaiah: Mario Kraver on the list. What he did with the ball in his hands after reception, so yards after ⁓ Yak was outstanding. Eric Singleton and Dallas Wilson, once he came onto Florida, their passing game opened up, although granted it was terrible still. TJ Moore and Clemson, they're gonna have to have good seasons for Clemson to be a surprise team. Andrew Marsh at Michigan to me is not getting enough love on this list. I thought that he was really outstanding late in the year for the Mason Blue. And then Wyatt Young. Little known about Wyatt Young. He was the North Texas transfer that is now transferred to Oklahoma State along with his quarterback and his running back and his head coach. And he was excellent last year. I'm trying to find his stats. ⁓ Roberto Con Queso: You'll just have to take his word for it. Micaiah: But you'll just have to take my word for it. But he was excellent last year. And we'll just see if they'll be able to do it in the big twelve. That's what I want to see. ⁓ that's kind of the answer to all of these transfers. That led me down a rabbit hole to the receiving yards career leader list. And you're laughing at me because you're like, how did one get to the other, right? Yeah, I I couldn't tell you, but that's the rabbit hole I fell down. Did you look at this list at all? Roberto Con Queso: Yes. All right, Simeon. No. Micaiah: Okay, great. So this is gonna be a fun little game that that we're gonna play. I can almost guarantee you you don't know who kn the number just I don't even need the player. You can name me the school if you want. the number one career leader in receiving yards. He played from twenty thirteen to twenty sixteen. You can either name player or school. Roberto Con Queso: Twenty thirteen. ⁓ I'm gonna go with Western Kentucky. Micaiah: Western Kentucky is number 17 and number 17 on the list. Western is the first name. Of the school. Roberto Con Queso: So it th these are all division one schools, correct? Micaiah: These are all division one schools. They, however, and this is very key. Yes, it was Corey Davis. Corey Davis. He had 5,283. Of the top ten. Roberto Con Queso: Okay. ⁓ would it be w Western Michigan? Is Antonio Brun ⁓ no, yeah, Corey Davis. Antonio Brunson Central. Micaiah: Three, four. Of the top ten at the time in which the records were set, only four were at now current power force schools. Houston is in there, so maybe five. It goes Western Michigan, Nevada, Oklahoma, East Carolina, Wyoming, Houston, Arizona, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma. Homer State and then Wyoming again. Wyoming is on this list twice in the top ten. ⁓ Greg Sallas from Hawaii's number 12. You don't get to like a big time name until Zakari Franklin, who played at Illinois up until two years ago, where Devontae Smith is 26 at Alabama. Like Tez Johnson is thirty one. But when I looked at this list, I was shocked with how much good talent there is at kind of the quote lower levels of college football. Roberto Con Queso: Well, I wonder if a lot of that deals with so your smaller schools now not like smaller, like Wyoming, not isn't really a small school, but in the grand scheme of things when comparing them to like Alabama, they're a small school. ⁓ they probably only get one stud receiver and then supporting crew around it. Where I mean we'll just take we take Alabama and you know they had Devonta at one point alongside r you know, they have multiple studs to where any of those guys are gonna get the ball, to where it's so spread out that they really don't have the opportunity to set these big records anymore. Cause I'm assuming the Wyoming that would have one of those years would have had to been probably when ⁓ Micaiah: They had Henry Ruggs. Rugs, Judy, yeah. Roberto Con Queso: Is Josh Allen at Wyoming or was Rosen one of those two? Micaiah: It is the same three it was Alan, ⁓ the same it was the same three year span from ninety-three to ninety-six. ⁓ I'm I'm sorry, no. It was nine Ryan Yarborough was nineteen ninety to ninety-three, and then Marcus Harris was ninety three to ninety-six. ⁓ Western Kentucky is on this list at ⁓ Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ so they're older. Micaiah: 17 and then Western Michigan is on the list again at 18 from 2007 to 2011. So Western Michigan kind of had a nice little little run here. I would also assume that the big like big names like Jeremiah Smith probably won't get on this because he won't stay all four years. He's not gonna start right, even if he has twelve hundred yards, he's gonna finish with like thirty, nine hundred yards. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, that's Micaiah: Which that would end up him in the Devontae Smith range. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, that also and especially well I wanna say yes, but then I wanna say in the same sense no because that wa this was all before N I L. So in a sense, would you be more inclined if you're going and saying, Hey, if you stay, you can not only can you get the rec a record, but you could also make a little extra cash. Micaiah: ⁓ Braylon Ed Braylon Edwards is is the first Michigan player at 74 on this list. Dude, Western Michigan is Roberto Con Queso: I'm just gonna go ahead. Micaiah: One, two, three. Has four players in the top seventy five. Is Western Michigan actually a secret wide receiver factory? Roberto Con Queso: mean I guess th they could maybe. Well w so I I'm I'm currently looking at the two thousand thirteen Western Michigan football schedule. In case you're wondering No, they actually went one and eleven. Yeah. ⁓ they lost to everybody except UMass. They beat Massachusetts. ⁓ but they got crushed by everybody. Micaiah: ⁓ I mean it was half hearted sarcasm. Okay, all right. Is that the year they went to the big bowl game? ⁓ okay, great. Poor old you, mass. Roberto Con Queso: But then 2014, 2015, they are eight and five. Two thousand sixteen though, they went thirteen and one. Micaiah: That was the that was the year they went against Wisconsin in the Cotton Bowl. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ Yes. Yes. And they lost by a touchdown. Micaiah: Antonio Brown is on this list, Robert, at a hundred and forty four. Roberto Con Queso: Corey Davis had seventy three yards that game. Wisconsin was number eight and they were eleven and three. Micaiah: I know Michigan likes to run the ball, but they have in the top. Am I still here? Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ I can hear you, I can't see you. Micaiah: ⁓ boy. Why? I can see myself. All right. ⁓ well we're almost we're almost fi know I can see myself. So we'll just finish up here. Michigan only has one pl one player in the top two hundred and fifty, and that is Braylon Edwards, which is wild to think about. Roberto Con Queso: I can see myself. I wanna say it surprises me, but then it in the same sense it doesn't. Just because Michigan, at least in the past, like, I don't know, twenty five years, really hasn't thrown the ball as much as what we would all hope. But ⁓ you would have thought that maybe Mario Manningham might have been on there. I mean, we knew Jeremy Gallen wouldn't, but that'd have been cool to see who else would have in. Micaiah: Yeah, definitely. He he was he was a very a very productive season, Jeremy Galen. By the way, great poll from the ⁓ from the memory vault. Jason Avant. Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ dude, you I mean we can even talk about Jason Avant. I mean Yeah, he was another one. Micaiah: ⁓ did you see Brian Kelly is in college football? Unpaid internship consultant at Memphis. Roberto Con Queso: No Interesting. I guess he really wouldn't wouldn't need to be paid though, because I think he's still getting paid from LSU, so Micaiah: Yeah, isn't it? LSU. ⁓ the Memphis head coach name escapes me right now. He is he comes from the ⁓ the tree of Nick Saban. He was the coach that was at Marshall that left two years ago, and the team like boycotted the bowl game and so they couldn't go. And then he was at Southern Miss last year, and so now he's at Memphis this year. Charlie Huff, thank you. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: Charlie Huff. No brown dog. Micaiah: ⁓ I wouldn't want Brian Kelly on my staff. That has nothing to do with the person Brian Kelly. That is everything to do with the coach of Brian Kelly. I don't think he is a net positive, but hey, ⁓ that's maybe that's why I'm sitting in my basement recording a podcast that you may or may not be able to see my face later when we get to editing. Roberto Con Queso: Amen, brother. Amen. I'm not in the basement. I'm in the attic. We got the top and the bottom covered. Micaiah: Okay. All right. You people can do a lot with the top and the bottom. Come on. ⁓ I think that we'll that we're gonna end it here. We are just about ⁓ just shy of an hour. We are well into summer here. We are well under a hundred days until college football. We are going to I don't know, here in the next couple weeks start talking about conferences, picking conference winners, picking the all fourth and one team. Rob, you had a great idea to maybe set ⁓ draft a fantasy team just to see how they do. Roberto Con Queso: ⁓ Micaiah: Week after week for this. ⁓ Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, ⁓ there's an app I found. ⁓ I'm gonna have to mess with it a little more to see if I can get it to work the way I intended it to, so that'll be fun. Micaiah: Great. And then we are going, we gotta do superlatives, super relatives ⁓ for 2026. We nailed some of them. We missed on a lot ⁓ of them. So one of these weeks we will do that. ⁓ we are super excited for a new season. Go ahead and make sure you like, subscribe, and share. Go follow us on all our socials. That that's that that That's f fair that's how WWE built their entire company. S just bringing it back around. Yeah. we didn't get nearly as as much hate online for ⁓ telling people to go vaccinate their child last week as I thought we would. Roberto Con Queso: Well, that's how make changes. Yeah. Yeah, it means we just gotta step it up. We gotta step up our game. We gotta we gotta end our hit our evil mode. Micaiah: Nunca. Hit our evil mode. I look forward to ⁓ hit hitting evil mode with you next time, Rob. It was great seeing you. It was great talking to you all. ⁓ like, subscribe, and share. Wash your hands, filthy animals.
