- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to a lily Pad production.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hot Mike's hot Mikes in your area. Let's talk about
- 0:07Speaker 2: hot mics. Got Mike, So, anyways, are there already Holt mikes?
- 0:17Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of American icons. I can think
- 0:18Speaker 2: of a couple of breaks, Like, all of the mics
- 0:21Speaker 2: that came to me were like Mike sure and Mike
- 0:23Speaker 2: Myers sure.
- 0:26Speaker 1: And then so you're like, are there any other Let's
- 0:29Speaker 1: keep going, Let's keep.
- 0:30Speaker 2: This, gotta get more mics. Got a friend named Mike.
- 0:36Speaker 2: That's pretty cute, but that's about it. I can't think
- 0:38Speaker 2: of Hollywood mics.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Shout out to Jen's friend Mike.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Apparently only hot Mike. Wonderful. Okay, let's let's get this going.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Hello and welcome to our end of the year review show,
- 1:09Speaker 2: where we shine a light on everyone's favorite pope culture
- 1:12Speaker 2: based panel.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Show, Gatekeepers.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I'm your producer and long term cast member Jen Reagan.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Joining me today are your game master Matt Watson.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Hello, it is I and he'll need an opponent, I
- 1:25Speaker 2: mean just kidding kind of our evergreen panelist podcaster comedian
- 1:30Speaker 2: woman in stem, which today stands for shout.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Out to endings man Rodre Stevenson. Hello, I was so excited.
- 1:40Speaker 3: How are you both doing good? So much was teased there.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I love the idea that we could possibly be competing
- 1:46Speaker 3: one final time against Eatu fight.
- 1:48Speaker 1: We thought Matt Niger was over, but maybe it's not.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Maybe not a surprise bonus. Yeah, we're doing good. We're excited.
- 1:56Speaker 3: But Jen's in charge.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I love the see guys.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, wearing the cook chest.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah, both of us.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Yeah together, they're all sweating a little bit, just a little,
- 2:07Speaker 2: just a little.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Well, how will we How are we feeling? It's the
- 2:11Speaker 1: end of the year.
- 2:12Speaker 2: It's a ballmy sixty degrees and the long window is
- 2:16Speaker 2: open here in Colorado.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like it's a hot summer record, but it's
- 2:20Speaker 3: just being Christmas.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:22Speaker 5: Yeah, oh I'm feel I'm feeling toasty, but I'm feeling excited.
- 2:26Speaker 5: I made a list of all the fandoms we covered
- 2:29Speaker 5: this year, and it's a lot. It's almost like we
- 2:32Speaker 5: do this every other week. Yeah, it's almost like we
- 2:34Speaker 5: do two a month.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a lot.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I made the list out for myself and I was counting,
- 2:39Speaker 2: and I was like, yeah, that's it's twenty four twelve
- 2:42Speaker 2: times too, isn't that twenty four?
- 2:44Speaker 3: Yeah, and not to mention like bonus round. Yeah, and
- 2:48Speaker 3: that's press play. This has been I think before we
- 2:51Speaker 3: get into the Yeah, yeah, we can say this is
- 2:53Speaker 3: our biggest year.
- 2:54Speaker 1: For sure.
- 2:54Speaker 3: We made more audio than ever.
- 2:56Speaker 2: It was a girthy feed. It was a girthy feed
- 3:00Speaker 2: in my words, not his.
- 3:02Speaker 1: The girth of this feed this year, I hate that term. Yeah,
- 3:07Speaker 1: we can move on.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Well, let's get into this thing, shall we. For those
- 3:13Speaker 2: new to the podcast, at the end of each year,
- 3:15Speaker 2: we reflect on what we accomplished, memories, highlights, and this
- 3:19Speaker 2: year we're celebrating the completion of our fifth season in
- 3:23Speaker 2: sort of cheering sound.
- 3:25Speaker 1: And post like we were just saying.
- 3:28Speaker 2: A big update has been the inclusion of new shows
- 3:31Speaker 2: this year and a little rebrand and expansion of for Pandemonium.
- 3:35Speaker 2: But it's the first year of calling it Fandemonium.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yes, so that's new, MATC.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Could you give us a brief because we'll get into
- 3:42Speaker 2: it more, but brief some up of the array of offerings.
- 3:46Speaker 1: That we had on the feed.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Yeah. Absolutely, Well, it just felt like this time last
- 3:51Speaker 3: year we all had so many ideas for different podcasts
- 3:54Speaker 3: and different shows, and we started to know that we
- 3:57Speaker 3: wanted to turn Pandemonium into like a lie show, and
- 4:01Speaker 3: so it needed its own branding beyond gate Leapers necessarily,
- 4:05Speaker 3: And it just made it so that we could make
- 4:07Speaker 3: this podcast feed this group of people making audio comedy.
- 4:11Speaker 3: We could make whatever subshows we wanted to underneath the
- 4:15Speaker 3: umbrella of gate Leapers, And we were very lucky that
- 4:19Speaker 3: Aaron wanted to play more games with us and have
- 4:22Speaker 3: us go through with Bonus round in Matt Versus Auldra
- 4:25Speaker 3: and Audro and I kind of coupled some other stuff together,
- 4:28Speaker 3: but I think Matt Versus Audre was the highlight of
- 4:30Speaker 3: those shows.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Yes, oh yes, it was so good.
- 4:34Speaker 5: The amount of effort and care that he put in for.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Me to host so shoddily. Oh you did great, Thank you.
- 4:46Speaker 5: I appreciate that, But I really the work he put
- 4:49Speaker 5: in was absolutely the highlight of those episodes.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And it was so much fun.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it was so fun to watch and all of
- 4:55Speaker 2: the tricks of the trade that he has with all
- 4:58Speaker 2: the game pieces and mcann and I love the intro
- 5:02Speaker 2: song clip together for that segment.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, we had a lot of fun recording. Yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 3: we were like, we're gonna do this segment purely so
- 5:10Speaker 3: that this jingle gets out here.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the important part.
- 5:15Speaker 3: And then of course press play, like Drew having an
- 5:18Speaker 3: idea for quite a while to go through the history
- 5:21Speaker 3: of video game movies, and Jason hopping on board with
- 5:24Speaker 3: that project, and them watching a whole year's worth of
- 5:28Speaker 3: truly awful movie like, yeah, some of the worst movies
- 5:33Speaker 3: I've heard about. Because I didn't watch those movies, Yeah
- 5:36Speaker 3: would I, But I enjoyed hearing them praise them, and
- 5:41Speaker 3: they said a lot more positive things than they said
- 5:43Speaker 3: negative things about these truly atrocious sounding movies.
- 5:47Speaker 5: I appreciate them for that. We need some positivity in
- 5:50Speaker 5: this world. It's good to have a positive outlook in
- 5:54Speaker 5: spite of all circumstances.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know, let's have some people talking past
- 6:00Speaker 2: positively about movies and video games. It just doesn't happen
- 6:03Speaker 2: on the internet anything, am I right?
- 6:05Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 6:06Speaker 2: We need it, We need it wonderful. Well, that kind
- 6:09Speaker 2: of sums up the start, and we'll talk a little
- 6:13Speaker 2: bit more about each one of those.
- 6:14Speaker 1: But as I.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Wanted to get the talking points across in a more
- 6:19Speaker 2: fun way, I've prepared a couple of games.
- 6:21Speaker 1: So yes, you will be competing again. Yes, I want
- 6:26Speaker 1: to fight whoa whoa. Guys, it's a chill review show.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Yeah, this is an afternoon recall.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Violence in the afternoon.
- 6:36Speaker 2: She's got tea watch out. So these will be used
- 6:40Speaker 2: as talking points. We'll take some time in between questions
- 6:43Speaker 2: and stuff, but it will be an opportunity to earn
- 6:46Speaker 2: your last points of twenty twenty five.
- 6:48Speaker 3: All right.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I will also be sprinkling in some peaks behind the screen.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Squeam the Squeen, Peaks behind the Squeaen to mention.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Twenty reference peak behind the screen Questions from our lovely
- 7:01Speaker 2: Gateleapers cast members. I'm calling cast member queries. These queries
- 7:06Speaker 2: will be added in where they make sense, so watch out.
- 7:10Speaker 1: There might be someone.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Else's voice asking you a question and speaking of since
- 7:15Speaker 2: we were doing a nod here to bonus round Matt
- 7:18Speaker 2: versus oudre. Our first cast member query comes from Aaron Randa.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Yes, hello and welcome to Fake Leapers, the question asking
- 7:29Speaker 4: show where something's not quite right. I'm your games master
- 7:33Speaker 4: and possibly cheap British knockoff fake Matt Watson. Today I
- 7:37Speaker 4: bring you two questions. First from fellow games master and
- 7:41Speaker 4: absolute Unit Aaron random to Audra and real Matt, he
- 7:45Speaker 4: asks which bonus round Matt versus Auder was your favorite
- 7:49Speaker 4: to play over the past year?
- 7:51Speaker 3: And second from me, wait that's me?
- 7:55Speaker 4: I ask, is there a moment from the past year
- 7:58Speaker 4: that lives rent free your head? This can be a
- 8:02Speaker 4: bit or a team name, or a muse or even
- 8:05Speaker 4: an entire episode. I asked fellow games master and sexual
- 8:09Speaker 4: gerbil Aaron Randolph, and he said, what lives in his
- 8:12Speaker 4: head was auderin Matt Smith snake dancing during the Doctor
- 8:15Speaker 4: Who episode?
- 8:16Speaker 3: Good stuff? Good stuff? Yes, that was good stuff. Incredible,
- 8:22Speaker 3: two fantastic questions. Lovely to hear a British accent from
- 8:25Speaker 3: Aaron Randolph, isn't.
- 8:26Speaker 1: That just a delight?
- 8:27Speaker 2: I did just break into full laughter at my friend's
- 8:31Speaker 2: place because I listened to it when I was there
- 8:35Speaker 2: and I was.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Like, oh, oh my gosh, this is a treat.
- 8:39Speaker 2: So if you didn't catch that, we'll break that down
- 8:41Speaker 2: into its part. So, first, do you have a favorite
- 8:45Speaker 2: bonus round Matt versus Adra.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Game to play?
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yes, I there's one that comes to mind that was
- 8:50Speaker 3: the most fun. And maybe it's because we spent a
- 8:52Speaker 3: lot of the learning improv and improv skills and so
- 8:55Speaker 3: getting to play a dropout format was a lot of fun.
- 8:58Speaker 3: But our version of make Some Noise that was create
- 9:00Speaker 3: various sounds, I think.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Yeah, or produce sound juice sounds, something like that.
- 9:07Speaker 3: I just remember being blown away by Audra's ability to
- 9:12Speaker 3: just like do improv in uh not so comfortable like
- 9:16Speaker 3: we've been doing it on stage where you get the
- 9:17Speaker 3: immediate feedback. But this was just like Aaron was the
- 9:21Speaker 3: audience and he was a fantastic audience member, but just
- 9:24Speaker 3: how easily Audra slipped into all right, we're doing improv,
- 9:28Speaker 3: let's go. And then that made me feel really comfortable
- 9:30Speaker 3: in space. So we created some fun little scenes there.
- 9:33Speaker 5: I thought, uh huh, and you said such nice things
- 9:36Speaker 5: about me as part of your answer.
- 9:38Speaker 1: My answer was going to be God, I loved playing scrabble.
- 9:42Speaker 3: That's perfect.
- 9:43Speaker 1: That's that's you. I'm glad you're staying true to yourself. Yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 1: I loved it. It was so much fun.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Scrabble was great. I loved I loved Scrabble.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Yeah, but it was it was really cool to play
- 9:56Speaker 5: a legally distinct version of Make Some Noise, just because
- 10:00Speaker 5: I was thinking about a previous version of us, like,
- 10:03Speaker 5: before we had been involved in an improv community, would
- 10:08Speaker 5: either of us have felt that comfortable. No way, there's
- 10:11Speaker 5: no way on God's Green Earth. But it was just
- 10:14Speaker 5: so much fun and so immediate to just be like, yeah,
- 10:18Speaker 5: silly voices, Now let's do it.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Oh, God's green Earth. We're gonna do it on.
- 10:22Speaker 5: God's green Earth. We are gonna make some copious.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Sounds, copious amount of sounds legally distinct. And his second
- 10:32Speaker 2: part of his question was, is there a moment from
- 10:35Speaker 2: the last year that lives rent free in your head?
- 10:38Speaker 1: I've got one.
- 10:40Speaker 5: It didn't make any of the episode because we hadn't
- 10:43Speaker 5: started recording yet, but our Pirates of the Caribbean episode
- 10:48Speaker 5: with Nile and Dane, we were just on the call
- 10:51Speaker 5: for like twenty minutes fifteen twenty minutes before, just joking,
- 10:55Speaker 5: all dressed as pirates when we found out that the
- 11:00Speaker 5: Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants the book was published nine
- 11:05Speaker 5: to eleven, two thousand and one, the day the day,
- 11:09Speaker 5: and it was just us making unbelievable amounts of jokes
- 11:14Speaker 5: and riffing. In that space before that episode was such
- 11:18Speaker 5: a chaotic, joyous energy that I think we carried into
- 11:22Speaker 5: that episode of Pure Pure Chaos.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Yeah, most of the callbacks two nine eleven had to
- 11:28Speaker 3: be cut out. I think a few stayed in there.
- 11:31Speaker 1: I think there, I think there was.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I remember listening to that episode and I think it's
- 11:35Speaker 2: during like the year one, like the game where you
- 11:38Speaker 2: guys are trying to like narrow down the year of something.
- 11:41Speaker 1: And I think it came back up. It's right there.
- 11:45Speaker 5: Never forget, Never forget the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
- 11:49Speaker 5: A man.
- 11:51Speaker 3: That is a great answer mcause.
- 11:53Speaker 5: It's like something that will live rent free in my head,
- 11:57Speaker 5: but never in audio form. Yeah, only lives in my head.
- 12:03Speaker 3: And you know, Patreon dot com, slash Gate, leapers. I
- 12:05Speaker 3: think the pre chat was in the in the video
- 12:08Speaker 3: potentially there were things stuff there, so you get you
- 12:11Speaker 3: get a little extra bonus. Sorry I'm doing commercial still,
- 12:14Speaker 3: you can't help it.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Answer the question no more commercial?
- 12:17Speaker 3: Oh yeah, okay, Well I'm gonna I might end up
- 12:19Speaker 3: preaching for the live shows quite a lot during the
- 12:22Speaker 3: answers to these, because they stick in my memory a
- 12:25Speaker 3: lot more because a lot more is happening. Casey making
- 12:29Speaker 3: the Yoda noise, but it's specifically the audience's response.
- 12:33Speaker 2: There was nothing like being in that room and him
- 12:37Speaker 2: being like, yeah, you do better, and the entire thirty
- 12:42Speaker 2: to forty people sitting in that room doing the same
- 12:44Speaker 2: noise at the same time.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Like a chorus of yoda's and being like.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Well fine, yeah it was. It was perfect. It's like
- 12:53Speaker 3: when I think about how games are going to go
- 12:56Speaker 3: and moments being created, those are the things you just
- 12:59Speaker 3: can't predict. Yeah, that's the magic that comes out through
- 13:03Speaker 3: the format is just anything could happen, including an entire
- 13:07Speaker 3: audience making the same yord sound.
- 13:09Speaker 1: It changed pitch like. It genuinely was like a chorus.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yeah it was.
- 13:16Speaker 5: It was a choir of people doing the exact same intimation,
- 13:21Speaker 5: hearing the challenge and rising like yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Man, or a room full of nerds, what do you
- 13:26Speaker 1: want to here?
- 13:28Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, I love it and I'll throw in
- 13:30Speaker 2: mind just because it's one of my favorite episodes.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Uh.
- 13:33Speaker 2: The team name Rosen, Kristen, gild and stuff. Yes, maybe
- 13:38Speaker 2: the best gate Leapers team name to ever exist. It's
- 13:41Speaker 2: on the nose, it's it has the fandom, and it's
- 13:45Speaker 2: their names and it's oh, it was so satisfy effect.
- 13:50Speaker 3: It's so clever. It's like, it's it's proper pub quas
- 13:54Speaker 3: like Barsavia name of combining our identity and the thing
- 13:57Speaker 3: we're doing.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Yeah, shout out. All right, so let's get into these games. Yes,
- 14:05Speaker 1: Game one is Cobb.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Let's play pandemonium. This year we have covered twenty four fandoms.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Like we've said, some we were revisiting the worlds of
- 14:14Speaker 2: like Lord of the Rings or Twilight, but we have
- 14:16Speaker 2: a lot of fun new topics, such as our first
- 14:18Speaker 2: craft episode with the fiber Arts, a couple focused on
- 14:22Speaker 2: entire life works of one person like Jackie Chan or Creano. Reads,
- 14:26Speaker 2: of course, video game episodes like Dang and Rampa and Destiny,
- 14:30Speaker 2: and most importantly, Disney Channel original movies. Yes, so, how
- 14:35Speaker 2: well do you think you remember bits and conversations from
- 14:38Speaker 2: these episodes? Oh?
- 14:40Speaker 6: Almost, not very well at all. Probably not because I'm
- 14:44Speaker 6: so in the moment.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's all.
- 14:46Speaker 3: We're present in the joy, being experienced.
- 14:50Speaker 2: So much present. I'm going to test your knowledge in
- 14:53Speaker 2: this game. I have four words on a whiteboard that
- 14:57Speaker 2: pertain to studio record Fandomodium episodes.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Okay, so none of the live shows. For each word, there.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Will be a corresponding question about the episode. Guess it correctly,
- 15:09Speaker 2: you get a point. But because we're only playing a
- 15:11Speaker 2: couple games and I want point totals up, we're stealing
- 15:14Speaker 2: in this game. If your component can't get it, you
- 15:17Speaker 2: will have the opportunity to steal.
- 15:19Speaker 3: All right, Jen's in charge.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I'm in My god, it's different is in charge?
- 15:25Speaker 2: So I am going to let Oudra, because you were
- 15:28Speaker 2: closest to me, start, what word would you like? And
- 15:32Speaker 2: I should say for radio they are villain eels, SJP
- 15:38Speaker 2: and fuck.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna go for fuck.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Amazing In what episode did Odra say fuck five times
- 15:47Speaker 2: in less than a minute? And for a bonus point,
- 15:50Speaker 2: what game was being played?
- 15:53Speaker 1: Fuck exactly?
- 15:57Speaker 5: Oh my god, this is tough because I'm expecting this
- 16:02Speaker 5: is something that I should have known and that it
- 16:05Speaker 5: was tough for me.
- 16:08Speaker 1: So you're saying, oh, I was saying fuck so much
- 16:09Speaker 1: because I was like fuck, fuck oh fuck? Oh wait
- 16:12Speaker 1: no wait no, twin peaks ding ding ding.
- 16:15Speaker 5: Yes, it was saying coffee backwards is e fuk yep oh,
- 16:20Speaker 5: And Brayton was like, stop just saying the word fuck
- 16:23Speaker 5: at me.
- 16:23Speaker 2: It's exactly what it is. And I'll give you the
- 16:26Speaker 2: bonus point. It was a backwards talking game that he
- 16:29Speaker 2: called flip it and Reverse It. And I say he
- 16:32Speaker 2: because it was Drew hosting. That's our talking point for
- 16:35Speaker 2: this question. We had a couple of co guest hosts
- 16:39Speaker 2: this year, but our first episode getting Matt in the
- 16:42Speaker 2: player chair was the Twin Peaks episode where Bat had
- 16:45Speaker 2: all of his friends and his lovely wife roasting the
- 16:48Speaker 2: shit out of the first twenty minutes.
- 16:51Speaker 3: That's all I remember from that recording. No, I do
- 16:54Speaker 3: remember the fantastic games. They were a lot of fun,
- 16:56Speaker 3: but the first twenty twenty five minutes is wait, wait,
- 16:58Speaker 3: hang on a minute, screw me.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I guess I love when we can get Graham in
- 17:05Speaker 2: the studio or anywhere near the show because like any
- 17:10Speaker 2: having any childhood friend around, they are there to be
- 17:13Speaker 2: like no balance, Yes, even him out.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Graham does not hold back now under no circumstance. And
- 17:20Speaker 1: it was a joy. It was a joy to be
- 17:22Speaker 1: his teammate.
- 17:23Speaker 2: It was very fun, and Drew hosted beautifully, brought in
- 17:26Speaker 2: a lot of new games and styles.
- 17:29Speaker 1: That was a really fun one to listen to, especially
- 17:31Speaker 1: straight out the gate.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like now that we're a year removed
- 17:35Speaker 3: from doing twin peaks. I feel like there's a backwards
- 17:38Speaker 3: talking game to be had to just play in lots
- 17:41Speaker 3: of different fandoms.
- 17:42Speaker 5: Oh yeah, like backwards talking anything that has iconic quotes. Yeah,
- 17:48Speaker 5: anything that's quotable. You could do a backwards talking game
- 17:52Speaker 5: and I would play it right.
- 17:55Speaker 2: That lives rent free in my head. You fuck enif mad,
- 18:01Speaker 2: damn fine coffee damn. All right, that is fuck gone.
- 18:05Speaker 2: So Matt, you have a villain SJP and eels.
- 18:10Speaker 3: All right, if you think you're gonna write the word
- 18:11Speaker 3: eels on a board and have me not pick it,
- 18:14Speaker 3: let's go eels.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Let's go eels.
- 18:17Speaker 2: In what episode was the remark Google was having a
- 18:20Speaker 2: tough time with eels, and so does science honestly?
- 18:24Speaker 1: Said?
- 18:25Speaker 3: Oh okay, Google was having a tough time with eels,
- 18:30Speaker 3: and so is science. Honestly. That could I mean, that
- 18:33Speaker 3: could be any I'm thinking like two thousands is like
- 18:36Speaker 3: Google being a thing, like it's absolute, like peak of
- 18:39Speaker 3: entering culture, and so there's part of me that wants
- 18:42Speaker 3: to say Disney Channel is what it's from.
- 18:45Speaker 7: Mmm?
- 18:46Speaker 1: Is that your final answer? Well, you did say ding
- 18:49Speaker 1: ding ding immediately for Audra and not when.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I'll give you one more stab at it before it's
- 18:55Speaker 2: gonna get past Dodger for a try.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Let's go with just because eels were in the ocean,
- 19:02Speaker 3: Pirates of the Caribbean.
- 19:04Speaker 2: No, unfortunately, Adre, do you have a guess? I might
- 19:08Speaker 2: be thinking of a different space show. But is it Firefly?
- 19:12Speaker 8: No?
- 19:14Speaker 2: This was from the Monty Python episode We're in Hungarian.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Ben had, uh, my hovercraft is full of eels. Yeah,
- 19:25Speaker 2: and Aaron kept trying to use Google Translates to figure
- 19:29Speaker 2: that out. And Aaron said, Google is having a tough
- 19:31Speaker 2: time with eels because it picked up hovercraft and oder bang.
- 19:36Speaker 2: The woman in stem said, and so does science. Honestly
- 19:39Speaker 2: don't know how eels reproduce. And that's wild because we've
- 19:43Speaker 2: never run out of eels somehow. But now they're talking
- 19:49Speaker 2: point here about our guests post Ben. Yes, Python, my Python.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Oh that was so much fun. Yeah, that was a blast.
- 19:58Speaker 3: He expanded the the five three to two game into
- 20:03Speaker 3: there being a wheel, yes, and put in the extra effort,
- 20:05Speaker 3: and I was like, oh, this is so much showmanship.
- 20:08Speaker 3: I can't do this every two weeks.
- 20:11Speaker 1: That's why we do it once.
- 20:13Speaker 5: I think that's one of the really fun things about
- 20:16Speaker 5: I think I've only guest hosted one, but like throwing
- 20:19Speaker 5: extra little things. It's like, okay, I'm doing one. I
- 20:22Speaker 5: could put a little razzle dazzle. Yeah, do a little extra.
- 20:25Speaker 1: I put a little spice on that.
- 20:27Speaker 3: I feel really bad for not remembering that one because
- 20:29Speaker 3: it was such a good bit. Look, it's funny comedy
- 20:32Speaker 3: from fifty years ago. Yeah, but also are then trying
- 20:35Speaker 3: to understand it on top of it? Was was great you.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Were the runner.
- 20:39Speaker 2: It was right after you brought up a corkscrew as
- 20:42Speaker 2: a torture device.
- 20:43Speaker 1: That's right, it was the mass Tasker.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I should listen to my own podcast, you know you should.
- 20:51Speaker 3: I should listen to my own podcast. It turns out
- 20:52Speaker 3: it's pretty good.
- 20:53Speaker 1: It's pretty funny. We make a fun show. Oh my god, damn. Okay,
- 20:59Speaker 1: anddra villain or SJP, I'm gonna go villain villain Okay?
- 21:06Speaker 3: Now, twenty twenty four was more your villainy or a
- 21:08Speaker 3: stuff that much? I remember for sure.
- 21:11Speaker 2: So and again this is all referencing studio recorded episodes.
- 21:15Speaker 2: In what episode did Odres say that she has never
- 21:19Speaker 2: actually been angry out?
- 21:20Speaker 1: A villain?
- 21:21Speaker 2: Matt has portrayed in an opening copy until this one.
- 21:26Speaker 1: And for the bonus points, if you can remember the villain, Oh.
- 21:30Speaker 5: My gosh, because at the beginning of the episodes, you're like,
- 21:33Speaker 5: it's me thus and such, Who's thus and such?
- 21:36Speaker 1: And it's a villain.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Hm oh, it's just a little joke for everyone at
- 21:39Speaker 3: the top.
- 21:41Speaker 2: And it's a it's positioning himself as the bad guy,
- 21:45Speaker 2: and it's good.
- 21:47Speaker 5: And I genuinely have no idea who am I offended by?
- 21:52Speaker 5: Who am I deeply offended by? I wanted to make
- 21:55Speaker 5: them tricky, Yes, Doctor Who. If you were like and
- 22:01Speaker 5: person who trapped Rose Tyler and the Doctor on opposite
- 22:06Speaker 5: sides of the universe, I would be genuinely offended.
- 22:10Speaker 1: So I'm gonna go with Doctor Who as my answer.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Unfortunately, No, Matt, do you remember I'm gettings memory of
- 22:18Speaker 2: writing because I'm trying to think about me writing them
- 22:20Speaker 2: and what would have made Audre No, how damn are
- 22:23Speaker 2: you so?
- 22:24Speaker 3: I might have said something about Scooby Doo.
- 22:26Speaker 1: No.
- 22:27Speaker 2: This is one of my favorite bits and one of
- 22:29Speaker 2: my favorite episodes. The musical episode where you have portrayed
- 22:33Speaker 2: yourself as the person sat next to you singing along.
- 22:36Speaker 1: To the show you paid two hundred dollars to watch. Yeah,
- 22:39Speaker 1: that would yep, And.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Matt Rodra immediately said, I legitimately have never been actually angry,
- 22:47Speaker 2: but this.
- 22:48Speaker 5: One because it's a real life villain.
- 22:52Speaker 1: It's a real person.
- 22:54Speaker 3: It's not just a Darth Fader.
- 22:55Speaker 1: No, it's not a Darth Vader. It's a real person.
- 22:58Speaker 5: Oh, it's a real person. I could punch in the face. Yeah, yeah,
- 23:02Speaker 5: can't punch Vader in the face.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Can't. I could try, You could try, you can try, okay,
- 23:09Speaker 1: or do not? There is no try. There is no try.
- 23:13Speaker 1: All right, Matt.
- 23:14Speaker 2: That means that you have the last word, which is
- 23:17Speaker 2: in fact initials. In what episode did we find out
- 23:20Speaker 2: that Sarah Jessica Parker opens her own front door?
- 23:26Speaker 6: What is this show that we I don't know what's
- 23:30Speaker 6: her own front door? I mean it is ringing a
- 23:34Speaker 6: bell like everything. I'm like, that is something I have
- 23:37Speaker 6: experienced this year.
- 23:38Speaker 2: I'll give you a hint that it was a fun
- 23:40Speaker 2: fact share during the show.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Oh m, who likes to share fun facts?
- 23:47Speaker 2: Where's Sarah Jessica Parker involved? This was an early episode,
- 23:51Speaker 2: so I don't know.
- 23:52Speaker 3: And if you just keep giving me clues that I
- 23:54Speaker 3: could then cut out of the final recording so it
- 23:56Speaker 3: looks like I at least get one of these. It's
- 24:00Speaker 3: like on you know, track Stars, where they get like
- 24:03Speaker 3: get musicians to guest music, yeah, and put headphones on them,
- 24:06Speaker 3: and you could there's some like creative edits throughout to
- 24:09Speaker 3: make sure that they look good getting all of the things.
- 24:13Speaker 3: I'll leave all this in so that that's not me
- 24:18Speaker 3: all right, if it was an early one, I'm gonna say,
- 24:21Speaker 3: because lots of crazy, wild stuff happens in that fandom,
- 24:24Speaker 3: and who knows what came out as a fun fact,
- 24:26Speaker 3: and Caroline likes to say fun facts, I'm gonna Saydangan Rompa.
- 24:30Speaker 2: What's not not Adro? Would you like to try?
- 24:34Speaker 5: I think my best guess it would be maybe there
- 24:40Speaker 5: was like a a Sarah Jessica Parker riff Mayhapps in
- 24:46Speaker 5: the rom Coms episode.
- 24:48Speaker 1: And she's right, that's correct, because yeah, because also Neil
- 24:54Speaker 1: will have happened it.
- 24:55Speaker 2: I loves a fun fact, loves a fun fact, and
- 24:57Speaker 2: one of them that he shared was that during Hitch
- 25:02Speaker 2: when they needed a scene or a place to film
- 25:07Speaker 2: the scene where they're doing the ninety ten kiss, they
- 25:09Speaker 2: were knocking on doors. They didn't know Sarah Jessica Parker's
- 25:12Speaker 2: house and she just opened the door and said sure.
- 25:14Speaker 2: So they filmed that scene at her front door.
- 25:18Speaker 3: And it was a fun fact then, and it's a
- 25:19Speaker 3: fun fact.
- 25:20Speaker 1: That it's still a fun fact. It's still so fun.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 25:24Speaker 3: It was a great episode. It was great to have
- 25:26Speaker 3: Neil on that.
- 25:26Speaker 2: It was a fantastic episode as someone who was on it,
- 25:31Speaker 2: and yeah, the fun facts and things that he added
- 25:34Speaker 2: to the show.
- 25:35Speaker 1: It's one of my favorite things about Gayleapers. Women.
- 25:36Speaker 2: People come in and they're like, I know things, Yes,
- 25:40Speaker 2: let's get it all out. And that definitely felt like
- 25:44Speaker 2: one people's.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Excitement about the fandoms like really makes me so excited
- 25:51Speaker 5: about that fandom. Even if I was like, oh yeah,
- 25:53Speaker 5: I like this, by the end, I'm like, I love this.
- 25:57Speaker 1: I'm so excited about this lovely stuff. So that is
- 26:04Speaker 1: the end of Game one.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Those are our forwards that's going through a little peek
- 26:07Speaker 2: into some of our episodes this last year, and the
- 26:11Speaker 2: scores are adres on three and Matt is on Onne.
- 26:14Speaker 1: You know what, I don't know my own show.
- 26:18Speaker 2: You know what, You're so in it, You're so in
- 26:22Speaker 2: it and so present. All right, this is where you
- 26:27Speaker 2: can actually have an AD break.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Yes, it can just happen.
- 26:30Speaker 1: It can just happen.
- 26:31Speaker 3: I can edit that in post.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Yeah, here's an ad break. We're back in the last game.
- 26:42Speaker 2: We talked about how we had two guest hosts this
- 26:45Speaker 2: year whom are also cast members. So here are there
- 26:49Speaker 2: cast member queries. Nice rat from Ben, which will be
- 26:55Speaker 2: from my lovely voice. What are your favorite gate leapers
- 26:59Speaker 2: running gag it's or format points.
- 27:02Speaker 1: And which one do you think it's run its course?
- 27:05Speaker 3: Ooh, that's a great question. That's that's the kind of
- 27:08Speaker 3: insightful question that can only come from inside the ship.
- 27:13Speaker 1: I love.
- 27:14Speaker 5: It's such a it's such a silly, cheap pop for me,
- 27:19Speaker 5: I'll be real, but the acronyms at the beginning, the
- 27:23Speaker 5: stem acronyms, and so it brought me so much joy
- 27:26Speaker 5: that you started this episode with a woman in stem acronym.
- 27:31Speaker 5: For me, it's just silly and every like it'll be,
- 27:35Speaker 5: it's every single episode that it's in. But every now
- 27:37Speaker 5: and then I forget, like if I'm like, oh god,
- 27:41Speaker 5: so nervous before this record or so like frazzle before
- 27:43Speaker 5: a record, and then I just hear the stem acronym and.
- 27:46Speaker 1: I'm like, ahh, that's me. Oh my gosh, that's me.
- 27:52Speaker 3: It's a really fun same you might have noticed over
- 27:55Speaker 3: the years listeners, a lot of the jokes are the same,
- 27:57Speaker 3: just with different punchlines each each time.
- 28:00Speaker 1: How dare you is?
- 28:00Speaker 3: It's a good like warm up one into joke writing
- 28:03Speaker 3: of like, what's the four words that I could make
- 28:05Speaker 3: relevant to the current fandom that has that hasn't run
- 28:09Speaker 3: its course right now? Good?
- 28:10Speaker 1: No?
- 28:11Speaker 8: No?
- 28:11Speaker 1: No, no? Please not? Oh gosh, what has run its course?
- 28:17Speaker 3: I do have one for this, lay it on me,
- 28:19Speaker 3: But I think it's very much from a games Master perspective. Okay,
- 28:23Speaker 3: and maybe, like the praise for Rosen Christ and Guildensteph
- 28:26Speaker 3: can help inform the move away. But I think a
- 28:30Speaker 3: lot of times, yes, it's it's fun to go for
- 28:32Speaker 3: the easy, cheap pop of putting rude words in the
- 28:37Speaker 3: in the titles. But does that make us hard to
- 28:39Speaker 3: find on podcast platforms? Absolutely?
- 28:42Speaker 6: Do?
- 28:42Speaker 5: I think this is our inter you two sitting me down.
- 28:47Speaker 5: I know that the word horror fits in this film.
- 28:51Speaker 5: I know it does.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Listen as a Santa slut. I know I understand it.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Look. Half the time it works and I'm always glad
- 29:00Speaker 3: for it. The other half the time, I say, that's
- 29:02Speaker 3: a fantastic team name and just move on, you know,
- 29:06Speaker 3: being like, Okay, maybe it's run its course in that
- 29:08Speaker 3: we're now recycling the same rude words. Maybe there's some
- 29:13Speaker 3: fun wordplay that can because I love everyone's wordplay. That
- 29:16Speaker 3: part I love.
- 29:17Speaker 2: So let's say from Steph and Kristin who are not here,
- 29:21Speaker 2: and I'm speaking for them, up your game, man.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Yes, yes, that's coming from them and not not me.
- 29:29Speaker 1: God, and it coming from them, You're right, I am
- 29:31Speaker 1: more likely to listen to it. So true. Do you
- 29:35Speaker 1: have any favorites Matt that now you're like, yes, I
- 29:38Speaker 1: do want to keep that.
- 29:39Speaker 3: There's one that's bubbling under the surface that I think
- 29:42Speaker 3: could be more of a twenty twenty six thing. And
- 29:43Speaker 3: I'm scared if I say it, But then if I
- 29:45Speaker 3: say it, there's more of a chance of it becoming
- 29:47Speaker 3: a thing.
- 29:48Speaker 6: Maybe.
- 29:49Speaker 3: So during the Marvel Live Show, Johnny got something going
- 29:54Speaker 3: during the pitch It Round that was like you'd be surprised,
- 29:58Speaker 3: and then that continued to be a thing, which Audra
- 30:01Speaker 3: has then occasionally brought into studio recordings of like you'd
- 30:04Speaker 3: be surprised, You'd be surprised, And it's kind of bubbling
- 30:08Speaker 3: under the surface as a potential meme for when like
- 30:11Speaker 3: someone wants to say that.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I that was really fun when it because you
- 30:17Speaker 2: it's just one of those phrases too, that like anybody
- 30:20Speaker 2: who's like afraid to be on the podcast, which I
- 30:23Speaker 2: hear a lot, like, oh, like I would love to
- 30:25Speaker 2: be on, Like I'm not a podcaster, Like I'm just
- 30:27Speaker 2: hanging out with my friends and shooting out jokes.
- 30:30Speaker 1: But like when someone gives you the gift of a.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Hook like that, where like all you need to remember
- 30:37Speaker 2: is that like a three to four word phrase.
- 30:40Speaker 1: And just throw it in when it feels funny.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Yes, and that's gonna get a pop, it's gonna get
- 30:45Speaker 2: a laugh, and it like warms you up to the
- 30:47Speaker 2: space like you don't have to make anything new. Were
- 30:49Speaker 2: you something else someone else said, Yeah, that's improv.
- 30:53Speaker 1: That's improv. Let's go.
- 30:56Speaker 2: But it is fun when especially like new people to
- 30:59Speaker 2: particularly like gate leapers or whatever, like find their stride
- 31:03Speaker 2: in that, and then you're just like go keep going.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Oh yeah, And just because this was Ben who asked
- 31:09Speaker 3: this question. I will also also say I love the
- 31:11Speaker 3: bit he does where he forgets the answer that he
- 31:14Speaker 3: just thought he knew. I think that's really funny. Yeah,
- 31:17Speaker 3: when Ben, please tell me this is a bit. I've
- 31:21Speaker 3: been laughing at it.
- 31:24Speaker 1: It can be true and also a bit.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Yeah, you know it's it's the blending of the truth
- 31:30Speaker 2: and the you know what is k fab if not
- 31:33Speaker 2: a little.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Bit of both, a little bit of both? Amazing?
- 31:38Speaker 2: Well, we will move over to our other guest host
- 31:42Speaker 2: and host of press play True Hello.
- 31:45Speaker 3: And happy stat leebers Gang.
- 31:47Speaker 8: I'm genuinely curious what the actual research looks like for
- 31:50Speaker 8: the fandoms you're less familiar with, both from me coming
- 31:53Speaker 8: up with like the games and the jokes between segments,
- 31:56Speaker 8: as well as the like passing knowledge sections. Is it
- 31:59Speaker 8: just like a wikipedi, a rabbit hole and some searches?
- 32:02Speaker 8: Do you look at anything deeper? Have you ever even
- 32:04Speaker 8: reached out to like a fan you may know who's
- 32:06Speaker 8: a fan of that fandom that you guarn't. Oh and
- 32:09Speaker 8: are there any that you dove into that were more
- 32:12Speaker 8: interesting than you expected or surprised you?
- 32:14Speaker 3: Great questions?
- 32:15Speaker 2: Okay, so a little bit for both of you coming
- 32:18Speaker 2: from the research side of things.
- 32:20Speaker 5: For the passing knowledge, I really am just trying to
- 32:23Speaker 5: give like a baseline where are we in time and space?
- 32:29Speaker 1: Like what's the vibe is? This? Is this in space?
- 32:33Speaker 1: It's like literally.
- 32:34Speaker 5: Good baseline piece of information. So I do mostly just
- 32:40Speaker 5: a Wikipedia glance or if a big magazine has done
- 32:45Speaker 5: like a highlight of what is this fandom, I'll do
- 32:49Speaker 5: a read of those in order to make it. I
- 32:52Speaker 5: don't want to do two deep dive of a thing
- 32:57Speaker 5: one because it might be more information than a listener needs,
- 33:00Speaker 5: or it might give an answer to a question down
- 33:04Speaker 5: the line, and I don't want to prepare myself too deeply. Yeah,
- 33:10Speaker 5: I don't want to wait the thing in my favor. Yeah,
- 33:13Speaker 5: oh god, I keep the team's balanced of you. Yeah,
- 33:18Speaker 5: that is very nice of you.
- 33:19Speaker 2: And within your searches and learning things, has there been
- 33:24Speaker 2: anything that's I was like, wow, that's really interesting, and
- 33:26Speaker 2: I did not know that.
- 33:28Speaker 5: I feel like there has been something in most of
- 33:33Speaker 5: them where I do feel like most of the time
- 33:38Speaker 5: they will get cut because it's just like a weird
- 33:41Speaker 5: fact where I'm like the number of this type of
- 33:47Speaker 5: book that's been sold where it's like, oh my gosh,
- 33:51Speaker 5: they sold forty million copies of that weird thing, but
- 33:56Speaker 5: it is ultimately irrelevant to a passing now, Yes, like
- 34:02Speaker 5: we don't need to know that Disney Channel actually made
- 34:05Speaker 5: a book of Lizzie Maguire.
- 34:07Speaker 1: I don't know if that's true. I get it. I
- 34:10Speaker 1: thought I had a memory. I have a sense memory
- 34:12Speaker 1: that happened.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, that was a thing that was a question
- 34:15Speaker 3: in a game, So I have more chance of remembering
- 34:17Speaker 3: it because I did it twice.
- 34:20Speaker 5: Yep, And so like it doesn't need to be there
- 34:24Speaker 5: is the thing of most of the more fun facts
- 34:27Speaker 5: that I find, and so I will typically find a
- 34:30Speaker 5: way to like sprinkle it in.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Later use your knowledge.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Yes, love that And Matt from more of the show
- 34:38Speaker 2: at his perspective coming up with the games, what does
- 34:42Speaker 2: your research look like?
- 34:43Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of Wikipedia deep dives for like the
- 34:46Speaker 3: kind of Round one games we play where it tends
- 34:48Speaker 3: to be more trivia based and it's coming from lists
- 34:51Speaker 3: of things. So that's how I'll find out like an
- 34:53Speaker 3: overview of almost like a glossary for the fandom and
- 34:57Speaker 3: gain a bit of the language for like references. But honestly,
- 35:01Speaker 3: the biggest thing which I'm doing. I have this on
- 35:03Speaker 3: in the background while I'm writing, like the initial jokes
- 35:07Speaker 3: that go in it, and do my first pass YouTube
- 35:10Speaker 3: says it's it's fans, it's it's I don't reach out
- 35:14Speaker 3: to specific fans, but I put in the correct search
- 35:18Speaker 3: terms and find very passionate people who have sometimes done
- 35:22Speaker 3: up to three hours doing a deep dive into their fandom,
- 35:26Speaker 3: piece of media, hobby space, whatever it is, and often
- 35:30Speaker 3: that fills you in on like the matter of it all,
- 35:32Speaker 3: like the fan culture response, which gives me a kind
- 35:36Speaker 3: of idea of the tone to bring, like how do
- 35:39Speaker 3: fans currently feel about this thing? We can take a
- 35:42Speaker 3: more roasting tone of this because there are no actual
- 35:45Speaker 3: fans of it, because it's Avatar. That's James Cameron's Avatar,
- 35:49Speaker 3: not the Last Airbender.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Important important clarify, valid argument.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Yes, so I think like, thank you fans in general.
- 36:01Speaker 3: But I will say I've probably done less research in
- 36:04Speaker 3: the last couple of years compared to the first three
- 36:07Speaker 3: years of feeling like I really need to be across
- 36:11Speaker 3: everything because of our cast, because I feel like we
- 36:15Speaker 3: always have a cast member or two who are so
- 36:18Speaker 3: familiar with the rhythms of how our show goes, and
- 36:21Speaker 3: they're bringing a bit of knowledge from their chosen for
- 36:24Speaker 3: that episode because they love that thing, and so they
- 36:27Speaker 3: can bring the knowledge and kind of like I mean,
- 36:30Speaker 3: it's it's never a burden because I love pop culture,
- 36:33Speaker 3: but like can take some of that burden, the fill
- 36:35Speaker 3: in some of the.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Gag, give another voice exactly, and then.
- 36:39Speaker 3: I don't have to go into it learning as much
- 36:41Speaker 3: like if I think about like Dang and Romper, I
- 36:46Speaker 3: learned the overview of but was so confident in like
- 36:49Speaker 3: Aaron and Caroline's ability to bring their knowledge into the
- 36:53Speaker 3: space that I was like, I don't really need to
- 36:56Speaker 3: I don't need to watch a video of every game
- 36:57Speaker 3: played all the way through.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I love that doing the watching the video essays
- 37:03Speaker 5: because if you're just looking at like the fandom wikis,
- 37:06Speaker 5: I feel like there's a lot of times you'll get like, oh,
- 37:09Speaker 5: there's a ton of data in this area.
- 37:11Speaker 1: This must be important.
- 37:13Speaker 5: Yeah, but it would be such a risk of oh
- 37:16Speaker 5: there's a lot of data there, but.
- 37:18Speaker 1: No one cares about it. Yeah, no one cares about it. Yeah.
- 37:22Speaker 5: And so listening to those essays, you can really actually
- 37:24Speaker 5: get the idea of what do fans actually care about
- 37:28Speaker 5: in this space?
- 37:29Speaker 1: And that's really cool?
- 37:30Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think that's something that is important to
- 37:32Speaker 2: gate leapers and remains important to gate leapers. Is like
- 37:35Speaker 2: the whole point was to leap the gate and play
- 37:38Speaker 2: and the fandom not shit on it exactly. Like, it's
- 37:41Speaker 2: not I'm not here to be like you. You like
- 37:44Speaker 2: this thing, let's spend an hour and a half like
- 37:46Speaker 2: tearing it down. It's like, yeah, we're gonna pope fun.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Everything can poke fun, but it like is for the
- 37:51Speaker 2: joy of that, yeah.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Property or thing, it's the passion, the core of it
- 37:55Speaker 3: all that drives it. And if you like secura in
- 37:58Speaker 3: your enjoyment of something, you can very easily make dumb
- 38:01Speaker 3: jokes about it.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:02Speaker 3: A lot of the like aliens in Star Wars have
- 38:06Speaker 3: very silly names.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Sure, sure do. Tolkien writes too many poems in the books.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Listen, Mount Doom. Did we get bored? Like love Florian?
- 38:19Speaker 2: You created a whole language, You created like three languages,
- 38:23Speaker 2: and the mountain that was most important is called Doom.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Oh and it's the evil one, is it?
- 38:27Speaker 1: Yep?
- 38:28Speaker 2: Okay, So that one's just for Chris. And while we're
- 38:34Speaker 2: at it, talking about Drew because he had certainly a
- 38:36Speaker 2: big year on the gate Leapers feed, obviously being in
- 38:39Speaker 2: a handful of episodes, but also a most notably, as
- 38:42Speaker 2: you mentioned, co hosting the Journey through Video Game movie
- 38:45Speaker 2: Adaptations with Jason on press play. Yes, I didn't want
- 38:48Speaker 2: to let obviously we're big and Pandemonium, it's our core programming,
- 38:53Speaker 2: but wanted to give press playing our extra stuff on
- 38:57Speaker 2: the feed a moment to breathe. That was a cool
- 39:00Speaker 2: concept because it felt so adjacent to Yes Fandomonium, but
- 39:05Speaker 2: just like in a completely different way. And it was
- 39:06Speaker 2: fun to see Drew kind of take the feel and
- 39:10Speaker 2: vibe and energy of the pandemoniums and be like, how
- 39:14Speaker 2: can I apply this to a whole other part of
- 39:18Speaker 2: pop culture? Yes, from you all's perspective, from like a
- 39:23Speaker 2: producing and like editing and enjoying it and stuff I
- 39:26Speaker 2: want to hear from you about adding new stuff to
- 39:29Speaker 2: the feed, like what that feels like, how you feel
- 39:33Speaker 2: gate Leapers is expanding and kind of playing around in
- 39:37Speaker 2: all these new fund spaces.
- 39:39Speaker 3: Totally. Yeah, it felt like the right thing to do
- 39:42Speaker 3: at the start of the year with all these ideas
- 39:45Speaker 3: was to just be a weekly podcast like most podcasts are,
- 39:49Speaker 3: and it didn't make sense to do pandemoniums every week.
- 39:52Speaker 3: That would be wild. So yeah, Press Play Drew really
- 39:58Speaker 3: took on board like everything I said at the start
- 40:00Speaker 3: in terms of like I'd love for this to feel
- 40:03Speaker 3: like it's part of the gate Leapers family. That it's like,
- 40:06Speaker 3: it features guests, it features games, it's like a lighthearted
- 40:10Speaker 3: look at things. We're keeping more on the riffing side
- 40:13Speaker 3: of stuff. And they did such a good job of
- 40:16Speaker 3: never getting too into the weeds of like critiquing the movie.
- 40:20Speaker 3: I ragged on them at the start for being awfully
- 40:22Speaker 3: positive about these shitty movies, but obviously that's what makes
- 40:26Speaker 3: for a better show. Yeah, we've been through a lot
- 40:28Speaker 3: of Internet of people just dissing things, and I think
- 40:32Speaker 3: lots of people have done that, And don't get me wrong,
- 40:34Speaker 3: they highlighted the negatives when they were there, but finding
- 40:37Speaker 3: the hilarity, finding the silliness, the joy. The number of
- 40:41Speaker 3: times Drew said this is a bad movie, but if
- 40:43Speaker 3: you were watching it with your friends while hi, it's incredible,
- 40:46Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 40:46Speaker 5: I love that and something that I think is so fun,
- 40:49Speaker 5: like films and video game spaces when you're talking about
- 40:53Speaker 5: people being like negative and critiquing, and well, actually like
- 40:57Speaker 5: those types of things, those are spaces that have that.
- 41:00Speaker 5: But to have Drew and Jason be so joyous in
- 41:03Speaker 5: that space is so much fun and just feels so
- 41:07Speaker 5: right for the like vibe of oh, jumping into a
- 41:11Speaker 5: fandom and enjoying that space with the people who really
- 41:14Speaker 5: love that. And I've had a few different ideas for
- 41:18Speaker 5: podcasts like that could happen, and I think about it
- 41:21Speaker 5: and we're like, a, but that that doesn't really fit
- 41:23Speaker 5: with gate Leapers, Like that doesn't really fit. It's not
- 41:26Speaker 5: like as close to fandemonium and energy. And then Drew
- 41:30Speaker 5: comes in and says, I have this idea m M,
- 41:33Speaker 5: and it's so perfectly matched up with the vibe and
- 41:37Speaker 5: we're like, oh, amazing, Yeah, that's that's all the beats. Yeah,
- 41:42Speaker 5: that's everything that we would want or a different show.
- 41:45Speaker 3: And to speak candidly about them not continuing, it's like
- 41:50Speaker 3: it's not because of Drew and Jason's efforts. They made
- 41:53Speaker 3: a fantastic show. I'm really proud to have those episodes
- 41:56Speaker 3: on the on the feed. It's just kind of the
- 42:00Speaker 3: workload of our small little production group and how a
- 42:04Speaker 3: lot of the editing falls on me, but we can't
- 42:06Speaker 3: really have editing fall on anyone else until there's like
- 42:10Speaker 3: revenue in the studio and stuff. So it's like we're
- 42:13Speaker 3: kind of like taking things back to just fandemonium, but
- 42:16Speaker 3: so we can build up in a bit of a
- 42:18Speaker 3: smarter way so that hopefully a few years down the
- 42:21Speaker 3: line will be in a position where we can say, hey, Drew,
- 42:24Speaker 3: here is some cash make a podcast for us. Like, yeah,
- 42:27Speaker 3: it's free reign for you to do. So we love
- 42:30Speaker 3: the energy that you brought and even like creating something
- 42:34Speaker 3: to the brief of being for a specific podcast feed,
- 42:37Speaker 3: it's just so impressive. I want to be able to like,
- 42:41Speaker 3: you know, consolidate our power a little bit so that
- 42:44Speaker 3: we can then expand more in the future.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that.
- 42:48Speaker 2: And yeah, and it's great to give flowers to Drew
- 42:53Speaker 2: and Jason for taking that on. And obviously the family
- 42:57Speaker 2: of shows is growing a being and flowing and all
- 43:01Speaker 2: of these things that are just so indicative of the
- 43:03Speaker 2: beginning parts of anything. Yeah, and that you know, ultimately
- 43:08Speaker 2: for the listeners, it's for you, so like what are
- 43:12Speaker 2: you interested in? And also like, how can we make
- 43:14Speaker 2: pandemonium even better to carry you this forward because it's
- 43:17Speaker 2: fun for us, so we want to keep it fun
- 43:18Speaker 2: for you.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Speaking of fun, let's stay.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Into our second game. Oh no, I'm going I have
- 43:26Speaker 2: a feeling you'll be just fine in this one.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Okay. Game two is called Live Camera Action.
- 43:32Speaker 2: This game is inspired by the fact that we had
- 43:34Speaker 2: our first handful of live shows in twenty twenty five
- 43:39Speaker 2: and sadly for a couple, only got.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Half a video recording for some of them.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Yes, so first I will take the opportunity to say
- 43:45Speaker 2: that next year the live production is going to be
- 43:47Speaker 2: really exciting with new features, with more of the like
- 43:51Speaker 2: how do we make it enjoyable to listen to but
- 43:54Speaker 2: also enjoyable to look at? Yes, when we're doing in
- 43:56Speaker 2: the shows. And so this game is going to be
- 43:59Speaker 2: review of our own shows.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Oh wow.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:03Speaker 2: So for this game, I'm pulling one straight from that
- 44:05Speaker 2: here with lots of your hat on a hat games.
- 44:09Speaker 1: This is a review in a review game.
- 44:11Speaker 2: So I will be assigning each of you a style
- 44:14Speaker 2: of delivery and which live show you'll be reviewing.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Hmmm makes sense.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Yes, you will have a minute and I will give
- 44:23Speaker 2: points based on believability of the delivery, and any details
- 44:27Speaker 2: you add based on the shows. You can add bits, points,
- 44:31Speaker 2: related things, anything that happened in the room, just to
- 44:34Speaker 2: get our listeners up to stuff.
- 44:37Speaker 1: On what happened during those shows. Matt, I'm gonna have
- 44:41Speaker 1: you go first.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Absolutely, you will be.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Delivering and the classic style of a Matt Watson cultural
- 44:48Speaker 2: rant coined from last review show episode where you went
- 44:55Speaker 2: on about I don't remember, but you called it a
- 44:57Speaker 2: Matt Watson cultural rant. So we're coining the term and
- 45:03Speaker 2: you will be ranting about or reviewing about the Star
- 45:07Speaker 2: Wars live episode our first.
- 45:09Speaker 3: Okay, yes, what in May? In May, May the twenty
- 45:12Speaker 3: fourth be with you. I remember the tagline, A ha.
- 45:15Speaker 1: All right, one minute on the clock. You ready?
- 45:17Speaker 3: I am ready?
- 45:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:19Speaker 3: So I went to see this live show that happened
- 45:22Speaker 3: in Colorado Springs, and it was it was just a
- 45:25Speaker 3: bunch of nerds talking about Star Wars on stage for
- 45:28Speaker 3: ninety minutes. Ninety full minute. That's a bit, that's a
- 45:33Speaker 3: bit cheap. I think like sixty five seventy minutes at
- 45:35Speaker 3: most is how long these shows should be. But they
- 45:38Speaker 3: demanded and look, I was all prepared to lock in
- 45:41Speaker 3: and go it's going to be great. Everyone here is
- 45:43Speaker 3: a fan of the thing I'm a fan of because
- 45:45Speaker 3: I'm a massive Star Wars fan. By the way, everyone
- 45:47Speaker 3: knows that about me. I'm gonna lock in and I'm
- 45:49Speaker 3: gonna have a great time listening to these Star Wars
- 45:52Speaker 3: fans talk about Star Wars. They didn't even know the
- 45:54Speaker 3: names of the fucking characters. Yorda Easy, I was one
- 45:58Speaker 3: of the people in there making the noise that almost
- 46:03Speaker 3: was more like Tim Allen.
- 46:04Speaker 2: Hah.
- 46:05Speaker 3: Yeah, look, it was fine, it was okay. I'll give
- 46:09Speaker 3: it three stars. They need to try harder, they need
- 46:12Speaker 3: to work on it more, and I think by the
- 46:14Speaker 3: fall they can implement more features that'll make it better.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Ah beautiful, And that's your time?
- 46:20Speaker 3: Is that my cultural rents? What do I do?
- 46:23Speaker 1: That sounds about right?
- 46:24Speaker 2: You get a little you put your hand towards your face,
- 46:28Speaker 2: you get a little bit more British.
- 46:31Speaker 1: There's like a passion in it, there's an oomph behind
- 46:34Speaker 1: the voice.
- 46:34Speaker 7: It feels more aggressive, but you know, sometimes they are,
- 46:38Speaker 7: sometimes they're not. That's yeah, And that's how this reviewer
- 46:41Speaker 7: was feeling about our May fourth, May the twenty fourth
- 46:45Speaker 7: with Star Wars live show amazing.
- 46:48Speaker 2: I will wait to dull out points because I need
- 46:50Speaker 2: to listen to Odra, who will be delivering in the
- 46:54Speaker 2: style Love and Adra Stevenson twenty tens Tumblr post.
- 46:58Speaker 1: You have to imagine everything in all caps.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Amazing, and you will be reviewing the Lord of the
- 47:04Speaker 2: Rings episode.
- 47:06Speaker 5: Oh my god, these sweet beautiful babies, every single one
- 47:09Speaker 5: of them is a precious child of God. Hashtag sweet babies,
- 47:14Speaker 5: hashtag oh my god, hashtag what are they even doing?
- 47:20Speaker 5: Such a fun episode? Megan was a joy from start
- 47:24Speaker 5: to finish. What a little goof hashtag Lord of the
- 47:29Speaker 5: Flies question mark, question mark, question mark. There are gonna
- 47:33Speaker 5: be several things on my blog that's Lord of the Flies.
- 47:36Speaker 5: But with one question mark, or two question marks or
- 47:38Speaker 5: three question marks, it's gonna be a tagging nightmare. They
- 47:42Speaker 5: were so cute and so funny. I loved their passion
- 47:46Speaker 5: for Lord of the Rings and also when they didn't
- 47:49Speaker 5: know things. Oh my god, all caps. I love these
- 47:54Speaker 5: beautiful babies. I need them to do more. Seven out
- 47:58Speaker 5: of five stars for these angels.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Protect at all costs, and that's your time.
- 48:05Speaker 2: I love the inflation or deflation of review. It's a
- 48:09Speaker 2: three out of five or a seven, not a five
- 48:12Speaker 2: two on either.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Side where averaging is a five style show, guys, that's
- 48:16Speaker 3: what the people are saying.
- 48:17Speaker 1: That's what that's what they're saying. That's what the people
- 48:19Speaker 1: are saying.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, I could see that post, I could
- 48:23Speaker 2: see the text.
- 48:24Speaker 1: It was all there. Wonderful.
- 48:26Speaker 2: So for points, I'm going to give Matt a full
- 48:30Speaker 2: five points. I heard specifics on the Yoda joke, the
- 48:36Speaker 2: length of time. There was a little bit of self
- 48:38Speaker 2: deprecation there about your own producing.
- 48:42Speaker 8: You got it.
- 48:43Speaker 3: You've got to look at these things and go, what
- 48:44Speaker 3: can you do better?
- 48:45Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, And we did tighten up the show. It's
- 48:48Speaker 1: gotten it in Adra.
- 48:54Speaker 2: I'm going to give you three points for format point believability.
- 49:01Speaker 1: I mean, it's there, it's it's you with all you.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Whoever, I didn't see as many notes on what actually happened.
- 49:07Speaker 2: I love the inclusion of Megan. I love the inclusion
- 49:10Speaker 2: of not knowing things, because there was a lot of
- 49:11Speaker 2: not knowing things. So since that was our last final
- 49:16Speaker 2: second game that you could earn points on.
- 49:20Speaker 1: I mean, you climbed back up with some You're on six.
- 49:24Speaker 3: And five games, master, I'm catching up you're.
- 49:28Speaker 2: Catching up, and that was your final opportunity to make points.
- 49:32Speaker 1: So, oh my gosh, we almost tied.
- 49:34Speaker 2: We almost almost tied. Let's leave it at that. That's
- 49:37Speaker 2: the end of That's how we review this show.
- 49:39Speaker 1: We almost died. And of course this.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Was just our lovely segue to talk about the live shows. Yes,
- 49:48Speaker 2: what a fun addition to what we're doing here being
- 49:53Speaker 2: in that space, getting to see it translate from sitting
- 49:57Speaker 2: in your room with mikes, just sitting in a room
- 49:59Speaker 2: with mikes.
- 49:59Speaker 1: With other people. Yes, what a joy it is.
- 50:03Speaker 5: Commentment first, I would love to comment first the amount
- 50:09Speaker 5: of games that we have played in the studio where
- 50:12Speaker 5: I don't want to laugh too loud because I don't
- 50:14Speaker 5: want to distract the other team, or I don't want
- 50:17Speaker 5: to like throw anything off like in the middle of
- 50:20Speaker 5: a game, or riffs that will just honestly nearly make
- 50:24Speaker 5: me pee my pants. Like, there's always been such a
- 50:27Speaker 5: fun atmosphere of just like the five people playing that
- 50:32Speaker 5: doing it as a live show, where I'm like leaned
- 50:37Speaker 5: back from the mic so as to not laugh too loud, but.
- 50:40Speaker 1: No one else is.
- 50:42Speaker 5: It's just an audience that is laughing with us, and
- 50:46Speaker 5: I think that's one of the most fun things about
- 50:48Speaker 5: Pandemonium is just laughing with someone. Yeah, and so to
- 50:53Speaker 5: expand that to a live show where other people can
- 50:56Speaker 5: laugh with us. Oh, it's so good Tumblr pust, Oh
- 51:01Speaker 5: my god, these beautiful babies.
- 51:05Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just been my favorite thing this year. It's
- 51:08Speaker 3: been so much fun. Everything Audra said about the feedback
- 51:12Speaker 3: of being in the room with people who are laughing
- 51:13Speaker 3: at the silly games we're playing, the mistakes we're making,
- 51:16Speaker 3: it's so joyous. So I guess if Audra mentioned the crowd,
- 51:21Speaker 3: I'm gonna mention the performers that we've gotten to work with.
- 51:24Speaker 3: These shows wouldn't be so good immediately without having improvisers
- 51:30Speaker 3: who some of them have been doing this for like
- 51:33Speaker 3: a decade plus, and they instantly heighten our games, They
- 51:37Speaker 3: instantly punch up everything that's happening and just fit into
- 51:41Speaker 3: the format really well.
- 51:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:43Speaker 2: They took to it like water, I think is yeah
- 51:46Speaker 2: the phrase, but yeah, to see everyone up there and
- 51:49Speaker 2: just immediately take to it and be like, yeah, I
- 51:51Speaker 2: know what I'm doing.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Okay, I get it, I get what we're doing.
- 51:54Speaker 3: Yeah, which gives Audra and I, who have like less
- 51:57Speaker 3: live performance experience that gives us more confidence. And yeah,
- 52:02Speaker 3: we're look, they're gonna they're gonna be thicker next year.
- 52:05Speaker 3: That's what we were saying, right, We're gonna they're gonna
- 52:08Speaker 3: be girthy.
- 52:09Speaker 1: We're getting girthy. I hated that. Wow, that was a lot.
- 52:15Speaker 5: I hated saying it, and honestly, I'm trying to grow.
- 52:20Speaker 5: Maybe I just need to say girthy more. No, Okay,
- 52:24Speaker 5: thank you so much for thanks so much.
- 52:26Speaker 1: For stopping that.
- 52:27Speaker 3: And they'll they'll be girthier in every way, sorry, in
- 52:31Speaker 3: every way other than run time. I think I love
- 52:35Speaker 3: not to get to behind the scenes, but if you're
- 52:37Speaker 3: listening to this, that's that's great. I think the shows
- 52:40Speaker 3: that have ran about seventy five minutes have been perfect,
- 52:44Speaker 3: so I'd love to Maybe that's on me to tighten
- 52:47Speaker 3: up the games a little and just have snappier games
- 52:50Speaker 3: in place.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Matt, Yeah, that's yeah.
- 52:53Speaker 2: It's definitely not that other people are just taking a
- 52:56Speaker 2: bit way too far.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Matt's trying to keep them on the rails.
- 52:59Speaker 3: I want bits, the girl, I want dream for the bits.
- 53:02Speaker 3: If anything, the games are an illusion for bits. Fit City,
- 53:05Speaker 3: bit City.
- 53:07Speaker 5: Yes, a framework in which to make bits.
- 53:11Speaker 3: We're a bit factory, and I can't remember any of them.
- 53:14Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah, we don't need to remember them
- 53:16Speaker 1: right now. They're so reliable. They're so reliable. There's always
- 53:20Speaker 1: going to be another bit. Listen. If there's anything I
- 53:23Speaker 1: know about this crew is that they love a freaking bit. Yeah.
- 53:28Speaker 2: Okay, So we have another cast member. Query our newest
- 53:31Speaker 2: addition to the team, our life, So Queen Julia, Julia, Julia?
- 53:36Speaker 1: Yeah, what was the least interesting fandom to learn about?
- 53:40Speaker 4: Have you been converted into a fan from learning about
- 53:43Speaker 4: a fandom from an episode?
- 53:45Speaker 1: What was it like reversing roles for the Taskmaster episode
- 53:49Speaker 1: we're in.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Okay, we will start with the first for both of you,
- 53:53Speaker 2: since you do passing knowledge and the show pick out
- 53:56Speaker 2: a least interesting fandom to learn about.
- 53:59Speaker 3: I don't mind you.
- 54:00Speaker 1: You say yours first, and I'll find out if I have.
- 54:03Speaker 3: Love you, Drew, But it's destiny. I mean, I think
- 54:07Speaker 3: older you didn't. You weren't on that episode, right, It's
- 54:09Speaker 3: not a rare, non ordra appearance. It was a really
- 54:14Speaker 3: fun episode with a really fun group of people. I
- 54:16Speaker 3: just had no interest in the fandom. A doll do
- 54:20Speaker 3: I want to create it. It's the holidays. I don't
- 54:22Speaker 3: think I want to do a cultural rant about it.
- 54:26Speaker 3: But like take something as generic a Star Wars, make
- 54:28Speaker 3: it more boring.
- 54:29Speaker 2: They go, you know what, put it in a YouTube
- 54:32Speaker 2: comment and I'll make it any next year.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Yep, am I gonna.
- 54:37Speaker 5: Hmmm, it's the tell all this is tough. I don't
- 54:42Speaker 5: think this is an insult to any thing. I do
- 54:46Speaker 5: think any SM is probably the one, just because of
- 54:49Speaker 5: the history of it. It's a lot and not being
- 54:52Speaker 5: present for it. I think it's one of those things
- 54:54Speaker 5: that there's if you were present for holds such a
- 54:58Speaker 5: deep special place in your heart, as with a lot
- 55:01Speaker 5: of my fandoms, if you were there at that time
- 55:05Speaker 5: involved in gaming at that time, it's so special and
- 55:09Speaker 5: it's so magical. Yeah, both of these answers. I think
- 55:13Speaker 5: one of the amazing things is one neither of these
- 55:16Speaker 5: were boring truly. Yeah, and the shows really weren't.
- 55:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:23Speaker 2: Yeah, the shows are great at least is relative at
- 55:25Speaker 2: least is the worst of the best.
- 55:27Speaker 5: Yes, that's a good way of looking at it. Yeah,
- 55:30Speaker 5: And so there's so much fun to be had. Yeah,
- 55:33Speaker 5: in anything, even if it's like oh the least interesting
- 55:38Speaker 5: of these incredibly fun, wonderful spaces. Yeah, personal preference, baby.
- 55:43Speaker 1: There you go.
- 55:44Speaker 2: And on the opposite, have you been converted into a
- 55:47Speaker 2: fan because of looking into any of these fandoms.
- 55:51Speaker 5: I don't know the timeline, but I think dangan Rumpa
- 55:55Speaker 5: was around the time of like, oh yes, me starting
- 55:58Speaker 5: to play those games at the time that we were
- 56:02Speaker 5: going to be recording the episode. I love a murder mystery.
- 56:05Speaker 5: I love these types of deduction games, and so beforehand
- 56:10Speaker 5: being able to play a bit of it and being like, Okay,
- 56:14Speaker 5: this is my shit. Yeah, this is the type of
- 56:17Speaker 5: thing I've been in the like, I love a murder
- 56:20Speaker 5: mystery space, and so I've heard this game referenced, but
- 56:25Speaker 5: it is.
- 56:26Speaker 1: So much fun to play.
- 56:29Speaker 5: So thatshit insane that I think dangan Rompa would be
- 56:35Speaker 5: the one that I was converted into via via Pandemonium
- 56:40Speaker 5: love that.
- 56:42Speaker 3: I don't know if it was via Pandemonium, but I've
- 56:44Speaker 3: said since the James Bond episode, oh yeah, I've become
- 56:48Speaker 3: somewhat of a James Bond fan just by virtue of
- 56:51Speaker 3: watching one a week for the last sixteen seventeen weeks
- 56:55Speaker 3: or however long it's been.
- 56:56Speaker 1: With the goal to hit all twenty five.
- 56:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's something that's happening between a few of us,
- 57:03Speaker 3: and it's a it's a lot. I hate James Bond,
- 57:06Speaker 3: but I also have I love it now. I can't
- 57:09Speaker 3: not love it yecause I'm in it.
- 57:11Speaker 2: Yeah, you're part of it now special to me now
- 57:14Speaker 2: in a horrific way.
- 57:16Speaker 3: In terms of feeling the joy from the people who
- 57:18Speaker 3: were on the episode, I think fiber arts is a
- 57:21Speaker 3: big one in terms of like understanding how it can
- 57:24Speaker 3: be viewed through a fan lens, like what aspects of
- 57:27Speaker 3: this hobby make it a fandom And obviously having like
- 57:32Speaker 3: such a fandom creator on that episode in Kate was
- 57:37Speaker 3: like that helped really blend those two concepts.
- 57:40Speaker 2: For me.
- 57:41Speaker 3: Sure, it gave me. I always respected all of the
- 57:44Speaker 3: craft you guys do. It's just incredible what you guys
- 57:47Speaker 3: can make in a matter of no time at all.
- 57:50Speaker 3: But it allowed me to go, oh, this is nerdy, Yeah,
- 57:55Speaker 3: this is.
- 57:55Speaker 5: Really Oh this is nerdy if you don't think it's
- 57:59Speaker 5: nerd and nitpicky and those types of things, like a
- 58:04Speaker 5: lot of other fandom spaces. I direct you to the
- 58:07Speaker 5: responses that people had to Hank Green's knitting video. Yeah,
- 58:12Speaker 5: where he showed he was like, and this is Stocanet.
- 58:15Speaker 2: Stitch and everyone wants that's reverse stockinhead.
- 58:19Speaker 5: Actually that's the backside of Stocanet, which is called reverse stockinet.
- 58:24Speaker 1: And this is a ten minute video.
- 58:26Speaker 2: We will destroy you when you will have to take
- 58:28Speaker 2: it down eventually because the entire fiber community like rude.
- 58:33Speaker 1: We will actually you into deleting the video.
- 58:36Speaker 3: And that's the drama that makes something a fandom exactly.
- 58:41Speaker 1: You know, we did it too.
- 58:42Speaker 2: And what was it like calling into our collab if
- 58:46Speaker 2: you will call it that with the boys from BFY
- 58:49Speaker 2: t W, because fuck you, that's why. What was it
- 58:52Speaker 2: like being in the big chair for task Master and
- 58:56Speaker 2: being a panelist for the show.
- 58:59Speaker 5: I have gain so much respect for Greg Davies, no
- 59:03Speaker 5: respect for Matt, but a lot of respect for Greg
- 59:06Speaker 5: Davies for.
- 59:08Speaker 1: The scoring of those things.
- 59:09Speaker 5: No genuinely being like the main person or one of
- 59:13Speaker 5: the two main people that is being looked to to
- 59:16Speaker 5: move the show forward.
- 59:18Speaker 1: It's so much work.
- 59:19Speaker 5: Thank you so much for doing that, Matt, so that
- 59:22Speaker 5: I don't have to be that person on a regular basis.
- 59:25Speaker 3: I mean, I love it.
- 59:28Speaker 1: What a phenomenal division of labor, a strengths based leadership. Here.
- 59:34Speaker 5: You lead the show, you write things, you keep us
- 59:38Speaker 5: on the rails, and I say fuck five times in
- 59:42Speaker 5: a minute.
- 59:43Speaker 3: I loved my role in those task Master shows. There's
- 59:46Speaker 3: some of the most fun things I've ever done shows
- 59:48Speaker 3: or otherwise, Like getting to just be along for the ride,
- 59:52Speaker 3: having done the tasks and then getting to riff with
- 59:55Speaker 3: my friends in a room. It was just the best. Like,
- 59:58Speaker 3: I think, by the time this comes out, both videos
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: will be available, so I'll put links in the show
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: notes if you weren't able to come out and see
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: those in Colorado Springs, because it'd be crazy if that
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: was the thing that you because we'd have seen you there.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: That's in the past.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Yep, we did that already.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: We did that.
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: Happened time you secretly showed up at those shows and
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: I didn't know about it.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Freaking rude. That would be wild.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: So yeah, those full episodes of us in the theaters
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: available to watch.
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but a freaking joy. As one of the other panelists,
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: I was in awe of how that all came together
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: in a way that was so.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Fun.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: But also, like every person on that stage or in
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: front of the stage was so on it and in it,
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: and it was I was saying on their callback show
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: is like I kept forgetting there was people in the room. Yes,
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: got side of us because we were also seeing things
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: for the first time. So very fun and like you said,
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: it will be in the show notes if you want
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: to check that out from ye our sister.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Podcast b fyt w y W, which the theater just
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: a little extra thing. The theater played an improv game
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: in a class that they had on the Saturday morning,
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: I guess like the morning of the second show, because
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: the b f yit W flag was still on the back.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and so it was like what could this
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: stand for wrong answers only? And it was just going
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: through the initials.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: That's cute, that's really cute and resourceful.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, well we're going to send you out
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: to one more break and then we're gonna do a
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: cheeky little quick fire around made by one Chris Reagan.
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, we'll.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: See in a minute.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: Our final no points quick fire round will be a
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: cheeky round of unclothed b Troth and Loath.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: A Shakespearean play. Get it. Nice on a common party game.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: Your options have been provided to you by one Chris
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Reagan as his craft member query. So as I lift
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: off your list, off your options off, lift off, and
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: you are ready to share. As always with a quick
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: fire around, you have to start your answer with a phrase,
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: and this phrase will be to thine own self.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Be true, to thine own self beat classic shapes, to
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: thine own self be true.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: So again, your option, since I know Ore is taking notes,
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: is unclothed, b troth and.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: Loathe loath, which is the kill pop. But to get
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: it to rhyme, yeah yeah.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: And also to make it more appropriate for podcasting, yes, yes, yes,
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: on a loath. Wouldn't that be the opposite though? Wouldn't
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: that be like the action of not loading?
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: Oh yeah, doesn't work?
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: Work, scratch it? Okay? Are you ready for your lists? Yes?
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: So your first list is themed to the fan covered
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: this year that have had multiple actors play the lead role. Okay,
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: So your first option from doctor who is specifically the
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: eleventh doctor Matt Smith, from Sherlock Holmes, the Benedict Cumberbatch okay,
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: and from James Bond George Lasenby.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: Okay, that's a funny pick for context. Our group loves
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: that George Lasenby Bond.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: Oh, we love it. It's our number one bond, It's
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: our favorite.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: So again, that's Matt Smith, Benedict Cumberbatch, George Laysonby.
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: To thine own self be true. I don't have to
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: say it that way. No one made me do that,
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: just the phrase I am going to lowth's Benedict cumber Batch.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Okay, strong start. This is a strong start. Do you
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: need my a quick justification? Please? I just love the
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: three of these people. If I had to speak to
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: them for more than ten minutes, I think he would
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: probably be the most unpleasant. I get that.
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: I think he's a great actor, and I enjoy the
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: roles that I see him in. But as a person,
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: Benedict Cumberbatch, not Sherlock.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Not Charlock from Sherlock, Benadict Cumberbat.
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: That's the choice I am going to. I'm going to
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: betrothe Matt Smith okay and Matt Thing.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: You just have to.
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: It just feels right in my spirit, and also because
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: I need to. I cannot betrothed George Lazenby because I
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: would die at the end of that movie.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: Oh great reference to that movie.
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: Mm hmmm, because I don't want to die, so it's
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: just got to be a fling yeah for me and
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: George Laysanby.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: All Right, I love it.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: That's my answers to thine own self be true. I
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: would also loathe Benedict just no further explanation, most detestable
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: of the three. But I'm gonna flip the other two
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: because I think, like seeing I think Matt Smith has
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: done quite a lot of uh de robe was the.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: Other one, cloth unclothed.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: Derobing people unclothing. I think he did a lot of
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: that in House of the Dragon recently. Yeah, yeah, and
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: that was pretty tasty. So I'm going to go with that.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: But I guess I want to go for betrothed for
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: George Lesenbie so I can be the tragic death the film,
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: so that I can be immortalized as a icon of
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: the Bond franchise.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Love it. Are we ready for this too?
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: To do it.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: These are going to be from main characters from properties covered,
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: so from Twilight Edward Cullen, from Pirates of the Caribbean,
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: Will Turner, and from Firefly Captain Malcolm Reynolds. Okay, unclothed,
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: betroth and loath.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: To thine own self be truth. I would loathe Malcolm Reynolds.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: I'm I'm a starting with the negative ones, but it's
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: to not establish myself as a horn dog. I'm gonna
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: go with Reynolds for it because I've never been a
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: Nathan Fillian guy.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: I know a lot of people in my generation love
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: themselves some Nathan never been for me, not for me.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: And then I think I'm gonna go with Yeah, I
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: think the I think Edward Cullen too much too. I
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: think that's the that's the uncloth. That's to spend one
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: night with Edward Cullen. Have you bnpire funny? He's a lot,
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: a lot, he is a lot, whereas Will Turner. I
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: think he's he's just kind of just an average block
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: by the end of the film. Yeah, he's just a guy.
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: So probably betrothed. Will Turner love it.
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: I am gonna go different here to thine own self
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: be true. I know there's not points at stake, but
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: I must say it. I'll start negative as well. I'm
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: gonna loathe Edward Cullen. II problem at a king. Yeah,
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: it's you've been seventeen for a while, so you're not seventeen.
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: It's weird to me that a seventeen year old is
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: very interesting to you. I know that there's an argument
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: against that, that his brain stayed at seventeen.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: But the guy who's going to w yeah, yeah right,
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: he hasn't even hit twenty five yet. Yes, brain's not
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: even fully.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: Formed, and maybe it never will.
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: Maybe it never will. Hers never will either though. Spoilers
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: for Twilight. Oh my god, I am going to unclothe
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: Will Turner because I want to be Elizabeth Swan ooh. Yes,
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: and he ends up with the thing of like he
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: can only come on land.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: However, you get so much time by yourself. Yes, you
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: could have hobbies, You could have a life.
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: I could live a life if I chose unclothed and
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: I was a Nathan Fillian girly, I was Doctor Horrible
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: sing along blog. Probably still know every word, So I'm
- 1:07:53Speaker 5: going to go for betrothed.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: Amazing on that one. Getting a little.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: Peak behind and Adres passed this this episode. Also tumbler
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: code is the lore of Audre and quick before our
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: proverbial buzzer. Your final list are producers of properties covered
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: from SNL Warren Michaels, from Marvel Stanley and the bard himself,
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: William Shakespeare.
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: Come on, so back in the to thine own self
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: be true. I must say I think I gotta loathe
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: William Shakespeare just because I'm sure I'm certain the STIs
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: from the Shakespearean period would be uncurable.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: Now we do not have We do not know what
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: this is, we do not know how to fix it.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: Renaissance syphilis.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Yes, it's just syphilis, but we just didn't know it
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: was syphless yet.
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: Yes, and so that one that's a loathe for me.
- 1:09:02Speaker 5: I'll probably I don't know enough about Lorne Michaels as
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: a man, just as a person, a human on this earth.
- 1:09:09Speaker 5: But I if it could be young Stanley, I'm gonna
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: unclothe Young Stanley because I think he was probably hot
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: and then will betrothed Lorne Michaels. He's got money, he's
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: got money, he's got power, he could get Oh my god,
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: the places that Pandemonium could go with Laura Michael.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: That's a great she's thinking about the business.
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: Yeah, and I really respect that. But for the bait,
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: I will go for different answers. I think that's really smart.
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: Syphilis be damned to thine own self, be true. I
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: will I think betrothed William Shakespeare, because what could be
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: better than a Shakespearean wedding. It will be all bells
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: and whistles. It'll be everything we know about a modern
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: movie wedding comes from Shakespeare.
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: I feel like you'd cut open a pie and doves
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: would fly exactly. Or I feel like someone finger.
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: Yep, oh, it'd be a good story, be great to
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: tell the kids, the grandkids. Okay, and then I'm going
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: to go with I'm gonna go with yeah, Okay, I'll
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: go with unclothed Lord Michaels because to secure that gate
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: leapers fantasy and money. Yeah, casting couch just needs one
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: night with me, So that's all I need, needs a
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: whole marriage to get that, to get that money, just
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: one night on the games Master.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: Good for you.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: He'll see the error of his I don't know what
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: that's about. And then I guess we're saying loath stan Lee.
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: I actually quite respect what he's done in life, but
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: for the bit, I will say, fuck Marvel.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: There you go. You can't load what he has produced, which.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: I don't even love that much.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: Which it's fine.
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a bit.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: It's entertainment, it's a bit. That's what we're here for.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: It's bit city, bit City.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: And unfortunately that is our show.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: We have been chit chatting things about gate Leapers, and
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: I'd like to thank our listeners. You've all been so
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: wonderful and without you, we really truly couldn't do what
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: we do. I know that's the podcast thing to say,
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: but like it is true, so a thing.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: It's just the thing. It's just the thing.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: And second, I would personally like to thank Matt Noger
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: for developing and expanding this thing that brings so much
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: fun and joy to my life personally. But also to
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: see this expand from a hot, windowless basement room to
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: live shows with audiences who are laughing and participating and
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: seeing all of this the goals for the studio records.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: It's just so cool. And I love you guys. Oh
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: we lost you too. Thank you. And now I'm gonna
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: pass it off to.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Matt to give us a little teaser of what's coming
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: in twenty twenty six and.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: To send us out.
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: Yes just before that tea, Jen, thank you so much
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: for being in charge and doing this. Let's do a
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: little clap for Gen.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Put in the clapping sound that you put at the
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: y I need that.
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: Now too, call back love it. This was fantastic. Thank
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: you for prepping this. It was great to reflect on
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: the Yark because it's been such a fun year. But
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: twenty twenty six I think could be even bigger. It
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: could be even girthier if we're going with that. Yes,
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: So the ways in which twenty twenty six will be girthy.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: We are going to do a live show every month.
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: We are going to be there at the Peaking prop
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: Theater on the second Friday every month, and we are
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: looking to expand those live shows, grow those live shows,
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: and get as many people in the building as possible
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: to enjoy the joy that we're creating. I guess see
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: how many nerds we can have flock to a late
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: night show in Colorado Springs.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: Bring the nerds to me.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: We are also applying to a couple of convents to
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: play our first shot, first live shot outside of the
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: Peak Improv Theater, so there'll be more news on that
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: in the coming months, with some specific dates lined up
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: depending on what we can get with that application. Let's
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: see where it leads. But that will be super exciting
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: to do live shows elsewhere because if they go well,
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: the goal would be to travel to the various East
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: coast West coast places that our cast members are located
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: and be able to do live shows at conventions in
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: their cities. That might be more of a twenty twenty
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: seven thing, but that's the path we're on in twenty
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: twenty six. Yeah, just making more pandemoniums on the Patreon
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: we have Slide Splitters is a live show that we
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: produce every month that will be a full video live show.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: It has a great audience because it's an early show,
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: so the room is very loud. Oh, we've been loving
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: making those. It's a bad education game. It's improvisers giving
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: lectures on topics that the audience gives for them where
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: they only have a sli I'd show to go off
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: of that they've never seen before. It's a great time
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: and yeah, there'll be one of those every month over
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: on our Patreon for all of the people who support us.
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: It just felt right to level up the bonus and
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: it not really be a thrown together end of month thing,
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: but a full live production that We've been planning for
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: a full month.
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: Yes, just to be able to share that and to
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: have some of those laughs be even more shared.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: Is so fun.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: And more games, more guests, more fandoms, more of all
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: the usual stuff that you love about this podcast.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: Feed more bits, more bits like bit City, bit City.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: I almost said.
- 1:14:41Speaker 5: Tits that's the bit bit, tit City, bitti City, tits City, ooheit.
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: But less of those kinds of team names. Thank you
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: very much.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: Yes, tit City, tit City, tit City, racks on racks
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: on racks. This has been a lily Pad production.
