- 0:10Hello, friends, it's Sean here and it's Friday.
- 0:15Hey, hey, well done to you. It is also the 6th of September
- 0:20and it's great to have your company on this a chapter a day
- 0:23Bible reading podcast. And today might be Friday and it
- 0:26might be September 6th, but it is also actually Fight
- 0:30Procrastination Day. Did you know that September 6th
- 0:34is apparently the day every year when we are meant to stop
- 0:37procrastinating, stop putting things off for another day, and
- 0:41get cracking on something now. But you know what?
- 0:43That sounds like a great idea for the weekend.
- 0:45I reckon just just put it off and I'll tackle it tomorrow.
- 0:51But if there is something that you have been thinking, oh, I
- 0:53really should get cracking on it, maybe today is the day.
- 0:56Maybe today is the day you don't have to do it all.
- 0:59Maybe you don't even have to plan everything.
- 1:01Maybe all you need to do is take one step in that direction.
- 1:04Do that first little thing that gets you started and maybe
- 1:08that'll be the momentum that you need to get started on this
- 1:12project. Well, wherever this finds you,
- 1:14whatever the goal is that you might be working for.
- 1:17Good luck, friends. I hope you're going well with
- 1:19it. And I hope that maybe today
- 1:21fight procrastination Day is something that might help.
- 1:24But much bigger than that, something that you haven't
- 1:27procrastinated. You tapped play, you invited me
- 1:30in, and you have been faithful friends in listening, reading,
- 1:35being a part of God's word shared each day.
- 1:38And for that I am eternally grateful.
- 1:41Because I wouldn't do it if you weren't listening.
- 1:43Well, I would. It'd just be a lot less fun.
- 1:45But you are here, and we read this together.
- 1:47And today we are, are going to, you'll never believe it,
- 1:50continue being pilgrims ascending the hill to Jerusalem
- 1:55as we read another one of these Psalms.
- 1:58You ready? You got your backpack on.
- 2:00You're looking up toward that beautiful city up atop this
- 2:04hill. Yeah, me too.
- 2:06Let us read together Psalm 130 from the depths of despair.
- 2:20O Lord, I call for your help. Hear my cry.
- 2:25O Lord, pay attention to my prayer.
- 2:29Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could
- 2:33ever survive? But you offer forgiveness, that
- 2:38we might learn to fear you. I'm counting on the Lord.
- 2:44Yes, I am counting on Him. I've put my hope in his word.
- 2:50I long for the Lord. More than centuries long for the
- 2:53dawn. Yes, more than centuries long
- 2:56for the dawn. O Israel, hope in the Lord.
- 3:02For with the Lord there is unfailing love.
- 3:06His redemption overflows. He himself will redeem Israel
- 3:12from every kind of sin. Thank you for the Psalm.
- 3:25Thank you for the Psalmist who cries out in hope.
- 3:29Hope because we are forgiven. Hope because you wipe our slate
- 3:34clean day after day after day through Jesus.
- 3:39Hope that no matter what goes down, we can count on you, our
- 3:44ever dependable Lord. And yes, we look forward to that
- 3:49day when we can see you face to face more than anything else,
- 3:55because we know that you have redeemed us.
- 3:58We know that you have made us yours, and that as your
- 4:04children, we have nothing to fear because we are forgiven, we
- 4:08are loved, and we are held firmly in your hand beyond this
- 4:12mere lifetime for eternity. Oh, you are a good, gracious and
- 4:18faithful God, and we love you. And we pray all of this in that
- 4:23saving name of Jesus, Amen.
