- 0:03Speaker 1: Here we go, AJ and Brount together, Krats and the Bunker.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Happy Monday everyone. A couple things before we start. Number One,
- 0:12Speaker 1: you weren't with us AJ for our city connect discussion.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Neby Weaver joined us. We did a really good breakdown.
- 0:20Speaker 1: If you want to check that out, there's podcast or
- 0:21Speaker 1: YouTube clips from the past that you can go view
- 0:25Speaker 1: or listen to and you know where to go. The
- 0:28Speaker 1: debate that popped up from people that don't know the
- 0:31Speaker 1: area too well was the Wisco love it?
- 0:34Speaker 2: I love? I think those are the best one.
- 0:35Speaker 1: You like those?
- 0:36Speaker 2: I don't think they are awesome. I like them a lot.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Stylistically, I like them. There's a lot of debate about
- 0:42Speaker 1: the Wisco part.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Sure, if it adds to something that is cool in
- 0:47Speaker 2: Milwaukee and Wisconsin, then I've heard it called that before.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I said, I've heard it called that in Wisconsin, Like
- 0:53Speaker 1: at the University of Wisconsin, people are like, oh, I
- 0:55Speaker 1: go to Wisco.
- 0:56Speaker 2: It's a city connect, meaning you're supposed to connect with
- 0:59Speaker 2: the people in Nolwaukee and Wisconsin. So wouldn't it make
- 1:02Speaker 2: sense that that would be the thing they do.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Right, connecting with other parts of the state like Madison.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So one We had a number of replies fan feedback.
- 1:11Speaker 1: You can always send us. We love it. I look
- 1:12Speaker 1: at every Instagram DM, I look at most Twitter dms.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I don't get to every comment, but I get to
- 1:18Speaker 1: most anyway. James, who is who lived has lived in
- 1:23Speaker 1: Wisconsin since nineteen ninety seven said and he loved the
- 1:28Speaker 1: first version, but he said as far as the Wisco part,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I asked around to be sure I wasn't insane. I
- 1:34Speaker 1: have never spoken, nor have I ever heard anybody refer
- 1:38Speaker 1: to Wisconsin as Whisco colors are great but doesn't like
- 1:41Speaker 1: the Wisco part. Okay, we're just trying to ask our crowd, like, hey,
- 1:45Speaker 1: enlighten us, because we're not going to represent.
- 1:46Speaker 2: And talk about I think they're cool.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Looking, stylistically great, They're awesome.
- 1:51Speaker 2: And then I'm going through them right now. The Braves
- 1:53Speaker 2: I like. I like the Braves one because it kind
- 1:56Speaker 2: of brings the old school baby blue leave.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I know, like this. Levi, when he was on the
- 2:01Speaker 1: show the other day, said you'll see those in rap
- 2:03Speaker 1: videos like cool.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Yes, Baltimore's actually are cool. I had to have the
- 2:08Speaker 2: green explain and the bee the b is the bee
- 2:10Speaker 2: on the green chairs in Camden Yard, so I had
- 2:12Speaker 2: to have it explained to when I was there this weekend.
- 2:15Speaker 2: The Reds, when I don't get it all, isn't that
- 2:17Speaker 2: the same sea they had? The sea I've seen that
- 2:19Speaker 2: sea somewhere else that they have.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Is that I all red to see somebody that really
- 2:25Speaker 1: doesn't like the sea on the Reds.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I don't like to see at all. I've seen that
- 2:28Speaker 2: sea somewhere. Maybe it's in the Cleveland ones that say
- 2:30Speaker 2: c L E. I think it's the same seed. Okay,
- 2:33Speaker 2: So that's why I was like, that's weird. The Royals ones.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I get, it's cool with the pink and the I
- 2:39Speaker 2: don't get the pink though. I don't understand where the pink.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I like the colors, I don't know.
- 2:42Speaker 2: I mean, I think it's cool, but I just don't
- 2:44Speaker 2: understand where the pink. I mean, I missed. I missed
- 2:46Speaker 2: the thing in there. Wisco. I love pirates, just all
- 2:50Speaker 2: black with the cool lettering. It looked tough when Skeins
- 2:53Speaker 2: is pitching San Diego. Looks like they took their old
- 2:55Speaker 2: ones with pink and blue and just change them to
- 2:57Speaker 2: the old padres navy and orange. And then the rain
- 3:00Speaker 2: ones that's the that's a whiff. I just I mean,
- 3:06Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean it just they took the
- 3:08Speaker 2: X and made a jay because they have red uniforms.
- 3:12Speaker 2: We had red uniforms and I played for the Rangers.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I think we talked about it last week, Kratz. Do
- 3:15Speaker 1: you remember how there was like a good story to it.
- 3:18Speaker 1: But again, Leeve I made a great quote on our show.
- 3:21Speaker 1: He said, it shouldn't be a guessing game. I'm paraphrasing
- 3:25Speaker 1: on what the background story is. It still has to
- 3:28Speaker 1: just look cool, Yes, regardless of reading a blurb about
- 3:31Speaker 1: why it is what it is.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't that's okay. It looks cool. I think
- 3:39Speaker 2: the reds one looks cool because they go red pants.
- 3:41Speaker 2: They go all slow pitch softball style. And he talked
- 3:44Speaker 2: about the like what did he say, the five lines
- 3:47Speaker 2: five championships. That's what the significance of it is. So
- 3:51Speaker 2: if they win one this year, then it to change
- 3:53Speaker 2: the city connects. There's a lot to do with it.
- 3:57Speaker 1: There's actually a good episode of Riverfront Territory of The
- 3:59Speaker 1: Red Show that goes over all of that. It was
- 4:01Speaker 1: really good on the topic of merch. Before we start
- 4:04Speaker 1: ft shops, has significantly expanded. That includes clothing for the kiddos, babies, onesies,
- 4:12Speaker 1: all that. Apparently there's some type of espresso shaker that
- 4:17Speaker 1: a lot of mug okay, so I haven't even seen
- 4:21Speaker 1: that one yet, so I'm excited to check that out
- 4:25Speaker 1: among other new items. So please take a look foul
- 4:28Speaker 1: Territory shop dot com. We love you talking to everyone
- 4:31Speaker 1: that loves, hates, or listens or watches this show, whether
- 4:35Speaker 1: they like us or not. If you're here, we appreciate you.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Let's charge.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Let's charge out.
- 4:44Speaker 1: What do you have for me? On the Mets. We'll
- 4:45Speaker 1: get to the Yankees later. They've lost five straight, they're
- 4:48Speaker 1: not scoring much. Tommy FAM's getting called up. You think
- 4:51Speaker 1: he'll give them a little punch in the mouth.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I do. Tommy Fan brings an attitude to teams that
- 4:58Speaker 2: a lot of times they need. But I mean, the
- 5:04Speaker 2: biggest question for me is there's no one so over Fine,
- 5:07Speaker 2: I get it, But what the heck is Francisco Lindor
- 5:10Speaker 2: doing like there's been too many gas or a guy
- 5:12Speaker 2: that's this good and has been so good and so
- 5:15Speaker 2: locked in and he's the captain and all that. That's
- 5:18Speaker 2: the question. I mean, the Mets are. They're not dead.
- 5:21Speaker 2: I mean they lost five or ra they're doing fine.
- 5:22Speaker 2: They're I so firmly believe the Mets are going to
- 5:25Speaker 2: be a good team this year.
- 5:26Speaker 1: But where's Lindor going? Like, is there something going on?
- 5:28Speaker 2: That's That's what's so strange to me. It's and it's
- 5:31Speaker 2: not we've all made mistakes, we've all forgot how many
- 5:33Speaker 2: outs there are, we all forgot this now, but like
- 5:35Speaker 2: forgetting to turn double plays repeatedly, I don't know. It's
- 5:40Speaker 2: just something I haven't seen from him, So it's shocking.
- 5:43Speaker 2: There are certain guys in I hope Crawts Agris with
- 5:45Speaker 2: me that when you're like, ah, he'll do something dumb
- 5:47Speaker 2: at some point. But Francisco Lindor was never that guy
- 5:49Speaker 2: for me. He was always a guy that was just
- 5:51Speaker 2: locked into everything. Yeah, And I don't you know, no
- 5:56Speaker 2: matter how old you get, you don't like all of
- 5:58Speaker 2: a sudden like start forgetting things. I think what Mendy said,
- 6:01Speaker 2: here's a quote from Anthony Dicomo from what Mendy said.
- 6:04Speaker 2: It's weird because it's not him. It's hard to explain,
- 6:07Speaker 2: and he'll be the first one to tell you he's
- 6:09Speaker 2: got to be better. I've never seen I've never seen
- 6:13Speaker 2: some of that. Those plays, they just are out of
- 6:15Speaker 2: position at times. And we had the day the other
- 6:18Speaker 2: day with the Cardinals, like Mendy. Mendy kind of you know, said, yeah,
- 6:23Speaker 2: we gave him the steel sign. But Frankie was coming
- 6:27Speaker 2: off the bag and he was putting his he was
- 6:28Speaker 2: putting his sliding mid on and whoop picked him off
- 6:31Speaker 2: quick pitch like he was. He is always that guy
- 6:34Speaker 2: that you're like, Okay, he's he's locked in. He knows
- 6:38Speaker 2: where he's supposed to be, you know, baseball iq I
- 6:41Speaker 2: guess people would say. But to see him essentially run
- 6:45Speaker 2: behind the second basement on a ball that was to
- 6:47Speaker 2: the second baseman and then they not able to turn
- 6:51Speaker 2: the double play because he didn't go right to the
- 6:53Speaker 2: bag like that play. Maybe it's just piling up. Maybe
- 6:56Speaker 2: it's just like all of these things all in one,
- 6:59Speaker 2: and Francescal Indoor is going to be fine. That that is,
- 7:03Speaker 2: if this whole if this whole thing is about Francisco Indoor,
- 7:06Speaker 2: the Mets aren't going to do well anyway, Okay, Like, yes,
- 7:10Speaker 2: he has to do better than he's doing. He knows
- 7:12Speaker 2: that the Mets know that, but the fact that they
- 7:15Speaker 2: lost five straight games, I'm not as concerned. I watched
- 7:19Speaker 2: Ken Rosenthal on Fair Territory says he's concerned about the
- 7:23Speaker 2: Mets and like their rotation and stuff. Their rotation is
- 7:28Speaker 2: doing it. I know Sanga had a stinker, but you
- 7:32Speaker 2: know what, like this rotation is doing better than I
- 7:35Speaker 2: thought they were going to do. Now are you asking me,
- 7:38Speaker 2: are they going to continue to do that? I don't know,
- 7:40Speaker 2: but a bright spot. Hey, j Perzinski's Luise Robert is
- 7:45Speaker 2: killing it. So if this team turns it around, I
- 7:48Speaker 2: think they'll turn it around offensively. I think the rotation
- 7:51Speaker 2: is my question. If they turn it around offensively, I
- 7:54Speaker 2: would say the fact that Luis Robert is killing it
- 7:58Speaker 2: right now or is doing well right now, that's a
- 8:00Speaker 2: good thing for the Mets.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Kratz, the world has a cord problem. Wires everywhere. It's
- 8:08Speaker 1: twenty twenty six, and it is time to get a ridgewallet.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Five and one. It's not a wallet, it's a charger.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Look at this thing. It sticks to your phone. You
- 8:19Speaker 2: push the button, it charges your phone while you can
- 8:22Speaker 2: charge two different items at the same time. Oh and
- 8:25Speaker 2: don't forget while it's charging. You got a little a
- 8:29Speaker 2: little lean to John, that'll help it sit right there.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Appreciate your ridgewallet.
- 8:34Speaker 1: This is so nice, which is great for me. If
- 8:36Speaker 1: I'm at the airport, I'm watching a game, I can
- 8:38Speaker 1: charge five devices and then I can just watch something
- 8:41Speaker 1: on the phone. Of course, they still have the wallets
- 8:43Speaker 1: that are money too, and we know the code. It's
- 8:44Speaker 1: nice and simple. It's foul foul. One thing to pack.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Five ways to power. You can find Ridge's power bank
- 8:51Speaker 1: at best Buy or our listeners can get ten percent
- 8:54Speaker 1: off at Ridge dot com by using code foul at checkout.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Head to Ridge dot com, use code foul and you're
- 8:59Speaker 1: all set. After your purchase, they'll ask you where you
- 9:01Speaker 1: heard about him. Please support ft un Tell him we
- 9:03Speaker 1: sent you. He's completely changed his approach you if you watched.
- 9:08Speaker 2: He's finally got crowds. Wait, no, that's not right.
- 9:14Speaker 1: He's not swinging you.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Well, that's because he swung at everything, and all they
- 9:18Speaker 2: did was sting sliders off the plate and somebody. I
- 9:20Speaker 2: remember talking to Chris Johnson, who was the White Sox
- 9:23Speaker 2: assistant hitting coach one year, and he said every game
- 9:26Speaker 2: we would have a and it was one Robert had
- 9:28Speaker 2: one of his good years. He said, we would have
- 9:29Speaker 2: a conversation with him before every game, what's your approach.
- 9:33Speaker 2: This is how this guy is going to pitch you.
- 9:35Speaker 2: This is what we want you to try to do.
- 9:37Speaker 2: And he had a good year. I think he got hurt,
- 9:39Speaker 2: but he was having a good year. And he said,
- 9:41Speaker 2: you literally had to sit down with him every game
- 9:43Speaker 2: and say, this is what this guy is going to
- 9:45Speaker 2: try and do to you. Swing at this one, don't
- 9:47Speaker 2: swing at this one, do this, don't do this. Da
- 9:48Speaker 2: da da da dah. And he said, hey, we got
- 9:50Speaker 2: him pretty locked in when he was in there because
- 9:53Speaker 2: he had never heard any of this before. So maybe
- 9:55Speaker 2: that's what the Mets are doing every day. But if
- 9:58Speaker 2: you could just tell him, hey, they're not going to
- 10:00Speaker 2: throw you a strike, just don't swing. It's kind of
- 10:02Speaker 2: you know what we talked about Pete Alonso earlier and
- 10:04Speaker 2: I'm gonna talk about uh because I was in Baltimore
- 10:07Speaker 2: this weekend. It was kind of what Alburne said about
- 10:10Speaker 2: Pete Alonzo. He said, Pete, they're not throwing you strikes
- 10:14Speaker 2: and you're chasing because you want to hit and hit
- 10:16Speaker 2: and hit and hit. And get and hit and hit
- 10:17Speaker 2: and be the homer guy. It's like, take four walks,
- 10:20Speaker 2: that's a good day. If you take four walks. He's like,
- 10:22Speaker 2: you've got to get back in the strike zone. And
- 10:24Speaker 2: that's kind of what Luise Robert needed to do, and
- 10:26Speaker 2: so far this year he's been doing that.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Oh, Pete's a classic case of signing a big deal
- 10:31Speaker 1: with a team that needs you. All of that, we'll
- 10:34Speaker 1: get to it later, but back to the Mets for
- 10:37Speaker 1: a moment. Kratsat another point, No.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Just on Luise Robert, like the reason that you see
- 10:42Speaker 2: an All Star season that he had, Like he's a
- 10:45Speaker 2: tall guy who has short arms, and like he should
- 10:48Speaker 2: never chase the ball. I know that sounds stupid and
- 10:50Speaker 2: that's really hard to do, but like what AJ said,
- 10:53Speaker 2: if you if your approach is to only swing at
- 10:55Speaker 2: strikes and you can execute that, you're you're gonna be
- 10:59Speaker 2: any elite player. Like it shows AJ swung at a
- 11:03Speaker 2: lot of pitches out of the zone, but he could
- 11:04Speaker 2: hit a lot of pitches out of the zone. He
- 11:06Speaker 2: was able, he had a hit tool. Luis Robert has
- 11:09Speaker 2: ridiculous power and if he just allows himself to only
- 11:14Speaker 2: only swing in the zone. Way easier said than done.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Believe me, I tried, you will like, you'll see just elite,
- 11:23Speaker 2: an elite season out of him. So the Mets should
- 11:25Speaker 2: be just about that. But they have to start winning
- 11:28Speaker 2: games in a five game slid slide against the teams
- 11:31Speaker 2: that they played against, not really it.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Did you see Pat Regazo who writes for SI dot
- 11:37Speaker 1: com because scouts believe Boba Schett is not fully healthy.
- 11:43Speaker 1: You know he had the last season, yeah he said.
- 11:49Speaker 1: You know who else said? Doctors who do pretty rigorous
- 11:52Speaker 1: physicals when you're signing a contract of that length and
- 11:54Speaker 1: you're coming off of an injury. I think he'll be okay.
- 11:59Speaker 2: By the way, with the five game losing Streakers seven
- 12:01Speaker 2: and nine, they're three games, I.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Feel like the whole league is basically everyone's like.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I did a Chicago radio hit, Today, radio, TV, whatever
- 12:11Speaker 2: they were, and of course they were talking about the Cubs.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I'm like, the Cubs are seven and eight, they're in
- 12:15Speaker 2: last place. The Pirates are in first place at nine
- 12:18Speaker 2: and six. It's they're two games behind them.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Everybody. Everybody take it to Yeah.
- 12:25Speaker 2: We're not even of the way in.
- 12:29Speaker 1: We're almost exactly ten percent. That's it right, because that's sixteen.
- 12:32Speaker 2: You go seven and eight in July, they're like, ah,
- 12:36Speaker 2: they're they're they're treading water. Yeah, parody. This is going
- 12:40Speaker 2: to really screw the whole the whole salary cap thing
- 12:43Speaker 2: if all these teams stay all close together like they are,
- 12:46Speaker 2: but water will level out the PCL strain, spraying strain,
- 12:51Speaker 2: what do they call it? A spring? I tore my
- 12:55Speaker 2: PCL and it's it's one of the ligaments you don't
- 12:57Speaker 2: have to rehab back, and is in the off season,
- 13:01Speaker 2: and you don't like there was no lingering effects from it,
- 13:04Speaker 2: Like it's one of the ligaments you don't need. Like
- 13:08Speaker 2: I'm just going out like sometimes you go in. I
- 13:11Speaker 2: didn't know it was a PCL. Honestly. Last year in
- 13:13Speaker 2: the in the playoffs, I didn't know he had a PCL. Straight.
- 13:17Speaker 2: This is the first I had read about it, because
- 13:18Speaker 2: normally you get that from some type of collision in
- 13:23Speaker 2: front of your knee, like it's a car accident type
- 13:25Speaker 2: of thing where the dashboard hits your knee or football
- 13:29Speaker 2: it's where you know the knee basically the knee basically
- 13:33Speaker 2: slides back and tears the PCL. And sometimes you don't
- 13:35Speaker 2: have to go in and get it fixed so that
- 13:37Speaker 2: it would linger the entire offseason. I have a hard
- 13:41Speaker 2: time believing that Linger longer, Linger Longer. It's got great
- 13:49Speaker 2: name for a road in outside of a in Georgia,
- 13:52Speaker 2: Linger Longer Road.
- 13:54Speaker 1: What is this referring to?
- 13:56Speaker 2: Well, the Masters, I was at the Masters in the
- 13:59Speaker 2: hotel that I at Lake ocone was off Linger Longer Road,
- 14:03Speaker 2: so I would not he is lingering longer Masters jokes.
- 14:10Speaker 2: A boy one to love that guy.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Uh, real quick though, on about fourteen percentile sprint speed,
- 14:20Speaker 1: so maybe that's where you point. I mean, he's never
- 14:22Speaker 1: been a Blazer, but he's not one of the slowest
- 14:25Speaker 1: guys in the league either. I can't comment enough.
- 14:27Speaker 2: We're so again.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Really time. Yeah, and also you just mentioned Pete Alonzo.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Did Bobachette not sign a massive on a per year
- 14:39Speaker 1: basis contract?
- 14:40Speaker 2: And how many times do we have to say this
- 14:42Speaker 2: trip crass? You know, this first time you switch teams
- 14:46Speaker 2: is so hard for most guys. It's so hard for
- 14:51Speaker 2: most guys. Now, if you get traded or you know,
- 14:54Speaker 2: it's a little different, but when you you get to
- 14:57Speaker 2: free agency and then your first time switching teams, you
- 14:59Speaker 2: sign a a deal like these two. Did you just
- 15:03Speaker 2: everyone says, oh, you know, guys signed deals. They don't
- 15:06Speaker 2: try as hard. Every not every guy, but ninety five
- 15:09Speaker 2: percent of the guys I played with when they signed
- 15:10Speaker 2: a big deal, they tried harder because they wanted to
- 15:14Speaker 2: justify I signed this big deal. And then add in
- 15:16Speaker 2: that they just switched teams. It's it's it's a tough spot.
- 15:20Speaker 2: They'll figure it out.
- 15:21Speaker 1: They're too good, right, they tried too hard. If anything, Yeah,
- 15:24Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying. Yeah, so that's where we're keeping
- 15:28Speaker 1: an eye on everything. But please with a grain of salt.
- 15:31Speaker 1: And lastly, on this segment, I do think it's important
- 15:35Speaker 1: to point out the other side of the equation. The
- 15:37Speaker 1: A's had a banger week. They went to New York.
- 15:40Speaker 1: They did great things at Yankee Stadium. They dusted the Mets.
- 15:45Speaker 1: They started zero and four, they were the last team
- 15:47Speaker 1: to pick up a win this year. Then they were
- 15:49Speaker 1: three and seven, and now they're on a freaking heater,
- 15:51Speaker 1: So good for them.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Great.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Kurtz had his first home run this weekend on Sunday.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Soderstrom had his first two home runs over the weekend.
- 16:00Speaker 1: On Saturday, Jeff McNeil went six for eleven in that series,
- 16:03Speaker 1: recorded the last out of the sweep. I mean he
- 16:06Speaker 1: had a dream series. Come on, I mean it was
- 16:10Speaker 1: an entertaining series. If you're an A's fan, you have
- 16:13Speaker 1: to be really pumped about what the future looks like
- 16:15Speaker 1: for this team. They need to keep pumping up the pitching.
- 16:18Speaker 1: I think that's going to be the factor. But this
- 16:20Speaker 1: team can swing the bats right, Oh, it's too cold,
- 16:23Speaker 1: Like it was pretty cold still in New York this weekend.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Not with the A's. They had plenty of offense messed
- 16:30Speaker 1: up all over this part of the Ft network. It's
- 16:34Speaker 1: a show, it's a podcast. It's on YouTube wherever you
- 16:37Speaker 1: get your pods. Listen to Draft Neckmark and James break
- 16:41Speaker 1: it all down after every single series. Did you see
- 16:47Speaker 1: this rookie Sazaki tipping pitches?
- 16:51Speaker 2: People were talking about this last year with him. If
- 16:53Speaker 2: you remember, I remember people were talking about this last year,
- 16:55Speaker 2: then he might be doing this truly hard as Krows
- 16:57Speaker 2: knows to throw that forkball, especially that super deep fork ball,
- 17:02Speaker 2: without doing something to take it off here unless like
- 17:05Speaker 2: Ryan Dempster used to do the whole we did a
- 17:07Speaker 2: thing with his glove all the time. But if you
- 17:09Speaker 2: don't do something crazy like that, it's really hard to
- 17:12Speaker 2: not do something.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Why doesn't he do what Dempster does here? He has
- 17:17Speaker 1: enough going on I get right, I guess I mean
- 17:20Speaker 1: beyond that, just went through looked at the high home
- 17:22Speaker 1: For every pitch Rokie threw with a runnerund second base today,
- 17:25Speaker 1: Ren and Nimo seemed to hop before all of Sasaki's
- 17:28Speaker 1: eight splitters in these spots, and then one slider didn't
- 17:31Speaker 1: hop on any fastballs. Those hitters all struck out. Michael Beer,
- 17:35Speaker 1: our boy behind the scenes, also put some of this
- 17:38Speaker 1: on his Twitter account, so you can check that out.
- 17:41Speaker 1: It got a lot of love there, or at least
- 17:43Speaker 1: a lot of looks krats. Any ideas here for Rokie?
- 17:47Speaker 1: I mean, it's one thing to be going through your
- 17:49Speaker 1: own issues of command and adding pitches right and becoming
- 17:54Speaker 1: a bona fide starter in the big leagues. If you're tipping,
- 17:58Speaker 1: you're not giving yourself a great chance. In today's game,
- 18:01Speaker 1: they all struck out.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Who cares? In my opinion, the batter's all struck out
- 18:08Speaker 2: if he's tipping. Maybe Nimo wasn't wasn't right because you
- 18:12Speaker 2: should get a hit if you know what's coming correct
- 18:15Speaker 2: or it's tough to hit in the big days. I
- 18:18Speaker 2: don't know one of the two, but either way, like
- 18:21Speaker 2: I just I don't know. I think everybody makes a
- 18:24Speaker 2: big deal out of the hole tipping. If you see
- 18:26Speaker 2: somebody doing something like a base runner, they probably don't
- 18:31Speaker 2: have it. There's way easier ways to just like discreetly,
- 18:35Speaker 2: like you look to your right, okay, you know, more
- 18:38Speaker 2: than jumping up and down that second base so everybody
- 18:43Speaker 2: sees you. And if he is tipping, yes, there's plenty
- 18:46Speaker 2: of ways. You don't have to do the Ryan Dempster
- 18:49Speaker 2: like all the way through kind of thing. You can
- 18:52Speaker 2: just you have to like he has to hold that
- 18:55Speaker 2: grip at all times. He has to be able to,
- 18:59Speaker 2: you know, cover his from second base. Or you can
- 19:02Speaker 2: just do what Craig Kimberl did. He'd look back and
- 19:06Speaker 2: he dropped the ball to be a ball and the
- 19:07Speaker 2: guy would go third. That was my favorite. I'm tipping pitches,
- 19:11Speaker 2: so I'm just gonna let the guy go to third
- 19:12Speaker 2: so he can't so he can't see what I'm throwing.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Guys, you ever get it from your children all the time, Dad,
- 19:22Speaker 3: same old meal. I get it all the time from

- 20:18Speaker 1: thirty first, twenty twenty six. So it's not a big deal.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I just want to be clear. Let him keep tipping
- 20:25Speaker 1: because the results on those particular pitches or those particular
- 20:28Speaker 1: abs were okay, big.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Big to do about nothing. In my opinion, Now the
- 20:34Speaker 2: dudes are giving up rockets. Rookie Sasaki's issue isn't isn't
- 20:38Speaker 2: necessarily tipping. I don't think it's not throwing strikes. When
- 20:42Speaker 2: he goes bad, he's not in the zone. When he's
- 20:44Speaker 2: in the zone, he's essentially unhittable. True when he when
- 20:52Speaker 2: he's ahead in the count and he's in the zone,
- 20:55Speaker 2: he's hard to hit.
- 20:57Speaker 1: So the Dodgers are like, hey, let's just focus on
- 20:59Speaker 1: let's just try to throw, yeah.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Strikes, try to get ahead and throw strikes. Well, if
- 21:04Speaker 2: he can land the split, all you have to do
- 21:05Speaker 2: is land that split one time, and that changes everything.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Once you see it in the zone.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Then people are like, I gotta swing at it now.
- 21:12Speaker 2: If it's constantly ball all all, they're just like, okay,
- 21:16Speaker 2: we were taking that one completely out of the thought process.
- 21:19Speaker 2: But if you just go shoot and land one. If
- 21:21Speaker 2: he could go out there the first pitch of an
- 21:23Speaker 2: inning and just go split, and everyone's like, oh crap,
- 21:27Speaker 2: now we're in trouble because such a process, it's essentially
- 21:32Speaker 2: a knuckleball. I mean I know guys are given rookie
- 21:35Speaker 2: a hard time. It's essentially a knuckleball, like sometimes he
- 21:38Speaker 2: doesn't know how it's gonna go. It's not it's not
- 21:41Speaker 2: a split where like some of these Japanese guys they
- 21:44Speaker 2: can want to. I always talk about playing with Masa
- 21:47Speaker 2: Massa here at Tanaka. He could like make he could
- 21:50Speaker 2: make the splitter cut, he could make it run in
- 21:54Speaker 2: on a arty, he could make it go straight down
- 21:57Speaker 2: and you would see like different splitters from him. And
- 22:00Speaker 2: it was based on where the chase zone is. This
- 22:03Speaker 2: pitch is a forkball. Aj Aj and I both caught
- 22:10Speaker 2: contrallers Jose Contrere's for a long time, massive hands, and
- 22:13Speaker 2: he would just throw away in there and it essentially
- 22:16Speaker 2: comes out with no spin. So to say, oh, he
- 22:20Speaker 2: doesn't have control of that pitch, I have a hard
- 22:22Speaker 2: time believing he's gonna have control of it, just because
- 22:26Speaker 2: of the fact that the idea of a knuckleball, the
- 22:29Speaker 2: idea of a forkball is you have to land it
- 22:33Speaker 2: in the middle, throw it in the middle of the
- 22:34Speaker 2: plate and hope it stays in that area. And so
- 22:38Speaker 2: it's tough, like like it's tough for him to consistently
- 22:42Speaker 2: throw strikes. But like Ajay said, if you land that
- 22:44Speaker 2: John like you're cooked, because now all of a sudden,
- 22:47Speaker 2: you think, oh, I do have to swing at it,
- 22:48Speaker 2: and he's got ninety seven to back it up.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Just to be clear, if you're on the opposing side,
- 22:54Speaker 1: most hitters still want the tip if they can get it.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Of course, it's more about the takes though, okay, because
- 23:00Speaker 2: if you know he's throwing a split early in the count,
- 23:02Speaker 2: then you don't swing at it where you get in
- 23:03Speaker 2: trouble as you swing at it out of the strikes.
- 23:05Speaker 2: To me, it's always been about the takes, not this
- 23:10Speaker 2: swing's yep. That's how you know. That's how you know
- 23:14Speaker 2: somebody has your has your pitches, because there's that dude
- 23:17Speaker 2: that all of a sudden just statues it. As soon
- 23:19Speaker 2: as he has your pitch, he'll statue it until two strikes.
- 23:22Speaker 2: It's just like out of the hand, nope, and it's like,
- 23:26Speaker 2: wait a minute something. There's a lot of things in timing.
- 23:29Speaker 2: As a catcher, you're watching the game, you're like, that
- 23:31Speaker 2: looked that looked different than like an auto take. Sometimes
- 23:35Speaker 2: you'll see Luisa Riyes, he'll just be like pitch will
- 23:37Speaker 2: come in, he'll just go and not even swing. That's
- 23:41Speaker 2: way different than I'm ready to hit, ready to hit.
- 23:43Speaker 2: And all of a sudden, now his timing kind of
- 23:46Speaker 2: just shuts down, and you're like, wait a minute, why
- 23:49Speaker 2: did he know we were throwing the nastiest pitch in
- 23:52Speaker 2: that count? Like then you think, okay, am I am?
- 23:55Speaker 2: I calling too many of that pitch in certain counts. Oh,
- 23:59Speaker 2: then you look at the hitter. You're looking the runner
- 24:01Speaker 2: at second. You know he's picking his jersey, he's looking
- 24:04Speaker 2: to the right, he's looking to the left. He touched
- 24:07Speaker 2: the bag when he went back after Like, there's so
- 24:09Speaker 2: many different things that you look at for a tip.
- 24:12Speaker 2: But the guy struck out. Sorry, Michael Beer, it's a
- 24:16Speaker 2: non story. If the guy strikes out, in my opinion, agreed.
- 24:25Speaker 1: He's still gonna get some time then to figure it out.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gotta figure it out. If you don't, he'll
- 24:31Speaker 2: go back to Oklahoma City.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Or bullpen.
- 24:35Speaker 2: No bullpen is always not. But I mean when you
- 24:37Speaker 2: have Dias Scott's stilling good this year, yeah, trying. They
- 24:41Speaker 2: wanted to develop that third pitch, and you ain't developing
- 24:44Speaker 2: in the bullpen. Your balls to the wall in the bullpen.
- 24:47Speaker 2: It's just foot foot foot poop.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Go mm hmm, okay, it's fair and by the way,
- 24:55Speaker 1: entertaining watching say, Jacob de Gram, who's stuff w one
- 25:00Speaker 1: of the best pitchers in the game over the past,
- 25:03Speaker 1: basically in the twenty first century. First pitch to Otani
- 25:08Speaker 1: got him? Fun series to watch? Yeah, o'tana was like,
- 25:13Speaker 1: who's this guy?
- 25:15Speaker 2: Oh?
- 25:15Speaker 1: De Grom? I watched him growing up a little bit. Yeah,
- 25:17Speaker 1: I got him. I'm good.
- 25:21Speaker 2: We even talked about Chris Sales performance last night. We're
- 25:23Speaker 2: gonna talk to bring up to Grom. We got to
- 25:24Speaker 2: bring up Chris Sale.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Oh, for sure, we can get to sell. Yeah, well,
- 25:30Speaker 1: we have a Strider update, so we can do it
- 25:32Speaker 1: during that time too. Since we learned a little bit
- 25:35Speaker 1: about a dude who used to be the head honcho
- 25:38Speaker 1: over there, do we have time for the Brewers?
- 25:42Speaker 2: Here?
- 25:42Speaker 1: Are we gonna get to our next guest? Let's find
- 25:45Speaker 1: out we do have time for the Brewers. Okay, the Brewers,
- 25:49Speaker 1: and then we're going to talk about the Nats. So
- 25:51Speaker 1: wait for that part of it. The Brewers have lost
- 25:54Speaker 1: what is it, five in a row? Yeah, swept by
- 25:58Speaker 1: the Nationals. Christian and Yelich is hurt, potentially very hurt.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Pat Murphy postgame presser said, we're most likely to get
- 26:06Speaker 1: some bad news on Yelich. The hamstring tough times. According
- 26:14Speaker 1: to Pat, we haven't been in these waters much in
- 26:16Speaker 1: the last three years. Just have to get through it.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I mean, unfortunately, you know, Yelich is pretty injury.
- 26:23Speaker 2: You start this is where we like with the Blue Jays,
- 26:26Speaker 2: you start testing the depth of organizations. And if you
- 26:28Speaker 2: don't have that depth to cover it and you keep
- 26:31Speaker 2: losing guys and you keep losing, losing, losing eventually the
- 26:35Speaker 2: depth of your organization when guys go down because the
- 26:38Speaker 2: Yellwich has been hurt before, yes, and they've been able
- 26:40Speaker 2: to survive it because of guys like Churio and South
- 26:44Speaker 2: Freelik and some other guys. They're able to you know,
- 26:46Speaker 2: Isaac Collins is in Kansas City now, right, and all
- 26:49Speaker 2: these guys they've been able to have their as pieces.
- 26:53Speaker 2: But as those guys start going away, you lose the depth.
- 26:55Speaker 2: And this is where it hurts you more and it
- 26:57Speaker 2: eventually catches up to you.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Churio is still out's out. He comes back and helps
- 27:02Speaker 1: the case a little bit. But yeah, it's the hamstring.
- 27:04Speaker 1: For Yelich, it's often been the back right krats. Of course,
- 27:09Speaker 1: he had the kneecap several years ago, so he's been
- 27:11Speaker 1: through it on the injury front, and I.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Think it's I think it's a testament to who Yelly
- 27:19Speaker 2: is to that locker room. Like when I was trying
- 27:22Speaker 2: to look through all the different they've had plenty of
- 27:24Speaker 2: injuries before, when Murph says, yeah, we haven't had this before.
- 27:27Speaker 2: They've had plenty of injuries, but you've lost Cherio, Okay,
- 27:31Speaker 2: Like that's the young guy who's out there bouncing around
- 27:33Speaker 2: in the outfield, playing every single day, blah blah blah,
- 27:37Speaker 2: and now you got Yelly going down to me, it's
- 27:39Speaker 2: a testament to what that clubhouse needs with Christian Yellis.
- 27:44Speaker 2: They feed off of that veteran leadership, the fact that
- 27:47Speaker 2: this dude goes out there and plays through injuries. Like
- 27:50Speaker 2: I saw years ago him playing through pain injuries, not
- 27:55Speaker 2: wanting to come out no matter what it was. I
- 27:57Speaker 2: mean there was like two times I remember that he
- 28:00Speaker 2: got sat and he was like he was pissed, he
- 28:02Speaker 2: was stewing. So it's just better to have him out
- 28:05Speaker 2: there in the lineup. If if the guy's gonna be
- 28:07Speaker 2: pissed on his off day, he might as well just
- 28:09Speaker 2: keep him out there. And so to lose both of them,
- 28:12Speaker 2: their outfield wasn't necessarily great without them, and then you know,
- 28:18Speaker 2: now to me, it's just gonna it's gonna test that
- 28:21Speaker 2: depth and what does that depth look like, Garrett Mitchell,
- 28:24Speaker 2: what is he going to be able to do for them?
- 28:26Speaker 2: Playing every day? Is the offense of Bryce terraang gonna continue?
- 28:31Speaker 2: You know, he hit that he had two homers yesterday,
- 28:33Speaker 2: so like his power bats there and he's kind of
- 28:37Speaker 2: a guy that I think ultimately that by the end
- 28:40Speaker 2: of this year, I think he was going to be
- 28:42Speaker 2: the star of this team. It's not gonna be Yelli's.
- 28:44Speaker 2: But if if Churio comes back, they're gonna have to
- 28:46Speaker 2: continue to find ways to do it. And that's what
- 28:50Speaker 2: the Brewers have done. The issue is now you don't
- 28:53Speaker 2: have a Freddie Perolta to pitch after Big Wu didn't
- 28:57Speaker 2: get you know, didn't get the win yesterday. I didn't
- 28:59Speaker 2: feel like it pitched bad, but he didn't get the
- 29:01Speaker 2: win yesterday. So you you need another guy to come
- 29:04Speaker 2: in there, and that this depth is going to be tested.
- 29:08Speaker 1: And with all of that being said, the Brewers are
- 29:11Speaker 1: eight and seven. Every team in the National League Central
- 29:15Speaker 1: has either six, seven or eight losses. The Brewers last
- 29:19Speaker 1: year were pretty mid for I remember for a while,
- 29:26Speaker 1: I don't know how deep the research, but eventually.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Sames same as the Blue Jays. That's why it's so
- 29:32Speaker 2: early to start talking about this stuff.
- 29:35Speaker 1: It is especially when you look at such bunched up records,
- 29:37Speaker 1: and again, yet we're only ten percent of the way
- 29:40Speaker 1: into the season.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what he said.
- 29:42Speaker 1: That's what he said.
- 29:45Speaker 2: That's what he said.
- 29:46Speaker 1: That's what he said. Yankees bats are a little cold.
- 29:51Speaker 1: They go down to the trap playing side, they get swept.
- 29:54Speaker 1: It's the Chandler Simpson series. We can talk about that
- 29:57Speaker 1: all in a bit. Let's start with Jazz Chisholm because
- 30:00Speaker 1: he usually stands out with his comments he doesn't know
- 30:04Speaker 1: the rules. Aaron Boone said, no, he does know the rules.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Do you want me to go over the specific quotes.
- 30:09Speaker 2: He didn't know the rules from what he said. Now,
- 30:12Speaker 2: maybe he didn't execute it, but he didn't really you
- 30:17Speaker 2: can say he knew the rules. But if what he
- 30:19Speaker 2: said he was trying to do then he didn't know
- 30:21Speaker 2: the rules because he said when they when he explained it,
- 30:24Speaker 2: and Trent Grisham goes, no, the Roman score, he goes, well,
- 30:27Speaker 2: that's what I was trying to do my mind, so
- 30:28Speaker 2: that he really didn't know the rules. No, I'm confused, okay,
- 30:31Speaker 2: because because he said he knew the rules, Aaron Boone said,
- 30:34Speaker 2: he knew the rules. But if you go off what
- 30:37Speaker 2: Jazz Chisholm said, then he didn't know that the run
- 30:39Speaker 2: would score, so he really didn't know the rule.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Correct. So and here's the quote to play it out,
- 30:43Speaker 1: just inform everyone, and then we'll dive even deeper. Here
- 30:46Speaker 1: Jazz explaining the final play when he fumbled a little bit.
- 30:51Speaker 1: This was Saturday's game, by the way, when the Yankees lost.
- 30:55Speaker 1: He said, I was really going to try to tag
- 30:57Speaker 1: the runner and then just throw it to first. I
- 31:00Speaker 1: don't know what the rule is if I went to
- 31:01Speaker 1: first and threw it back to second, if it's still
- 31:03Speaker 1: an out, is it's still a double play? I don't know.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Does it counts not an RBI? And then Trent Grisham,
- 31:08Speaker 1: who was next to him, is like, not, they'll score.
- 31:10Speaker 1: They get there before the tag occurs. At second, and
- 31:13Speaker 1: then Jazz was like, well, what I was trying to
- 31:14Speaker 1: do in my mind probably wouldn't have worked anyway, it
- 31:17Speaker 1: didn't work, and then Aaron Boone said, we'll talk. He's
- 31:23Speaker 1: not confused. I think that's his kind of default answer
- 31:27Speaker 1: when he's got reporters in front of him. It turns
- 31:29Speaker 1: out to be a tough play. Watching it back, there
- 31:31Speaker 1: might have been a chance if he gets to cleanly
- 31:32Speaker 1: he gets the tag. Hard to know how exactly Diez
- 31:35Speaker 1: reacts in that moment talking about YONDI. Once it chops
- 31:38Speaker 1: like that, it's obviously going to be a tough one
- 31:39Speaker 1: to turn the normal four to six y three, Boone added,
- 31:42Speaker 1: he knows the rules. When asked about the response to
- 31:45Speaker 1: the media and people calling him dumb, Boone said, quote,
- 31:49Speaker 1: I think part of it comes to answering those things
- 31:51Speaker 1: in a better way. You guys are around Jazz. He's
- 31:53Speaker 1: not a dumb guy. It's just sometimes how you present
- 31:56Speaker 1: yourself in certain situations, and coupled with he's off to
- 31:59Speaker 1: a little bit of a slow start.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Okay, we don't know every rule. I don't know every rule.
- 32:06Speaker 2: I pride myself on knowing what you think is every rule.
- 32:09Speaker 2: But we had to play on my game on Saturday
- 32:11Speaker 2: night in Baltimore, San Francisco. That happened. I didn't know
- 32:14Speaker 2: the rule. Nobody knew the rule, and we were on
- 32:16Speaker 2: the headset with Shane Boss. He didn't know the rule.
- 32:18Speaker 2: We were trying to figure it out. There was an
- 32:20Speaker 2: interference play Beaver's It's not Landon Beaver's, Dylan Dylan Beaver Sorry.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Landon Beaver's plays with my son. Dylan Beaver's is running
- 32:29Speaker 2: the second he tries to avoid the tag of a rise.
- 32:31Speaker 2: He accidentally kicks him in the hand, but a Rise
- 32:34Speaker 2: then throws it to first and the runner at first
- 32:37Speaker 2: was out, but they said he gets to stay, but
- 32:40Speaker 2: the runner going to second is out because it's dead
- 32:42Speaker 2: as soon as he touches them. So there was this
- 32:44Speaker 2: whole big and nobody really knew what was happening, and
- 32:46Speaker 2: I didn't know. I thought they just he was out
- 32:48Speaker 2: because he touched him, and then a rise finished the
- 32:50Speaker 2: play and so it would be a double play. It
- 32:51Speaker 2: wasn't ended up scoring a run off of it. It
- 32:53Speaker 2: was a weird play, But nobody knows all the rules,
- 32:56Speaker 2: so I can't really fall Jazz for not calling him dumb.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Is is tough because nobody knows all the rules. I'm sorry, umpires, hell,
- 33:03Speaker 2: don't even know all the rules.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Sometimes this one's a little simpler than.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Yes, but if you've never been in that situation, you
- 33:08Speaker 2: never thought about it. He never had to happen, and
- 33:10Speaker 2: then this pops up, especially at the end of a game,
- 33:13Speaker 2: and then you catch somebody after games. Ah, this is
- 33:15Speaker 2: what I was trying to do. It didn't work out,
- 33:17Speaker 2: So I'm not gonna call just just dumb because nobody
- 33:20Speaker 2: knows all the rules. Yeah, I mean, I think it's
- 33:25Speaker 2: I think it's tough. I think it's something that you
- 33:28Speaker 2: need to try to know all the rules, but it's
- 33:31Speaker 2: hard to know. It's easier to know like the framework
- 33:35Speaker 2: of the rules, and then each individual small thing goes
- 33:39Speaker 2: into that framework. But I think it got blown up
- 33:44Speaker 2: more than more than what it is. I think Aaron
- 33:48Speaker 2: Boone sees him every single day. I think Aaron Boone
- 33:52Speaker 2: he was being honest in his interview. I don't think
- 33:54Speaker 2: he was just sticking up for his player. He was like,
- 33:57Speaker 2: the guy's not dumb, like he gets he is what
- 34:00Speaker 2: he's doing. But the play was a really tough play.
- 34:04Speaker 2: We haven't really talked about the play, the fact that
- 34:06Speaker 2: he had to charge in to get it, the runner
- 34:09Speaker 2: did a great job of not just running to get
- 34:12Speaker 2: you know, easily tagged out, and then he bobbled the
- 34:15Speaker 2: play blah blah blah. But the play, even if there
- 34:19Speaker 2: wasn't a runner on third, could he have fielded it,
- 34:22Speaker 2: thrown to first, and then thrown back to second and
- 34:25Speaker 2: get the tag out like that would have been a
- 34:27Speaker 2: tough play let alone, the fact that had that happened,
- 34:30Speaker 2: the run would have scored as long as the runner
- 34:32Speaker 2: from third was running hard and there was no play
- 34:35Speaker 2: at home. So I don't I think it was you know,
- 34:40Speaker 2: we're taking we're taking everything that somebody says word for word.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I didn't even know what the play is like.
- 34:47Speaker 2: And then he said, oh yeah, I guess I did
- 34:49Speaker 2: know what the play was. One of the first things
- 34:53Speaker 2: you're taught as a base runner, well, you should be
- 34:55Speaker 2: told player, if it's first and third and one out,
- 34:58Speaker 2: don't let the second basement tag you. You stop, but
- 35:01Speaker 2: you make them, especially if it's that chopper, you just
- 35:04Speaker 2: stop and you make them try to turn the double play,
- 35:06Speaker 2: because usually it's not. They're not going to turn that
- 35:08Speaker 2: double play, right, So you do not let that guy.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Remember Albert Bell when he smashed Fernandovinia that time, he
- 35:14Speaker 2: was like, I ain't letting him tag me because it
- 35:15Speaker 2: happened earlier in the game and his teammates got on them.
- 35:17Speaker 2: So that time he said, well, he's gonna tag me
- 35:19Speaker 2: and he ain't gonna get up and make the next girl. Right.
- 35:22Speaker 2: So one of the first things you're taught as a
- 35:25Speaker 2: runner is you don't let the second basement tag you
- 35:27Speaker 2: on that chopper because it's you want to run from
- 35:30Speaker 2: third to score, so you just stop, You almost give
- 35:33Speaker 2: yourself up, and you make them throw it to first
- 35:35Speaker 2: and then you get in a pickle or rundown, whatever
- 35:37Speaker 2: you want to call it, and you're probably out anyways.
- 35:40Speaker 2: But at least that run scores. So there's so many
- 35:43Speaker 2: interesting and it was a really tough play too. I
- 35:46Speaker 2: mean it was really tough play. I mean, I don't
- 35:48Speaker 2: know if there's a second basement ever that makes that
- 35:50Speaker 2: play right, because you're not flipping it to second because
- 35:53Speaker 2: the runner going down the line is gonna be safe anyway.
- 35:55Speaker 2: So there's nothing you can really do. You can't throw
- 35:57Speaker 2: it home. Game's over. Tough play. Just his explanation.
- 36:02Speaker 1: That's the part though, that the explanation in that world.
- 36:08Speaker 2: I know, I think it's what said. I think it's
- 36:11Speaker 2: New York. They're trying to make a bigger deal out
- 36:13Speaker 2: of it than what it should be.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Of course, but why not just say no?
- 36:17Speaker 2: And Mark in the chat and Mark our slack said,
- 36:19Speaker 2: if the ball has hit to me, what am I doing?
- 36:22Speaker 2: That's fine and dandy until the ball is hit to
- 36:24Speaker 2: you and then all thoughts. You've been there, crafts, I'm
- 36:27Speaker 2: sure there's been a time where you're thinking, oh, if
- 36:29Speaker 2: this happens, I'm ready, and then it happens and you're like,
- 36:32Speaker 2: uh wait what just you just I don't even know
- 36:34Speaker 2: what happened. You blackout or whatever, So I don't know.
- 36:39Speaker 2: I mean, listen, no one's blaming the media on this one.
- 36:42Speaker 2: He said he knew the rule. He didn't really know
- 36:43Speaker 2: the rule. Whatever, you know, we want to be honest.
- 36:46Speaker 2: They're honest.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Then they get in trouble, well because then people say, well,
- 36:50Speaker 1: why doesn't he know that rule? Is the coaching staff
- 36:53Speaker 1: making sure too far? But that's what happens.
- 36:58Speaker 2: I know that it's taken too fun. That's why players
- 37:01Speaker 2: hate the media. Coaches just don't like the media.
- 37:04Speaker 1: It's not just you know what, I would say, this
- 37:06Speaker 1: is less media and more fans. Okay, either one, fans
- 37:10Speaker 1: see a comment like that and they get mad.
- 37:13Speaker 2: If Jazz was hitting four hundred with five homers and
- 37:15Speaker 2: twenty RB eyes.
- 37:17Speaker 1: He can do whatever he wants, but he's not.
- 37:19Speaker 2: And then he had the one the other day, remember
- 37:21Speaker 2: the lack of days ago one where he kind of
- 37:23Speaker 2: took his time and the guy beat it at first,
- 37:25Speaker 2: and so it's kind of now fans are like, oh,
- 37:28Speaker 2: he doesn't care. I remember Robbie Cano, he doesn't care.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Robbie Canoe was pretty good.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean before here's the deal. As was off
- 37:35Speaker 1: to a slow start. The Yankees lost five in a row.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Jazz talks a lot, which is great. I encourage that
- 37:42Speaker 1: Jazz is playing in New York, You're going to have
- 37:44Speaker 1: more of a microscope on you. So when you say
- 37:46Speaker 1: something like that, it is going to make headlines.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Can I also say this? I was in I will
- 37:52Speaker 2: go back to this. I was in Giants Baltimore on Saturday. Right.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Who's the manager of the Giants, Tony Vayitella, who gets
- 37:58Speaker 2: more heat than Tony Baytello, nobody right now, nobody. I'm
- 38:02Speaker 2: telling you what. Listen. I don't know if he's going
- 38:03Speaker 2: to work out as a manager. I don't know if
- 38:05Speaker 2: he knows what he's doing. But he is a great conversation.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Oh he awesome conversation. Yes, and he'll tell you straight
- 38:11Speaker 2: up and he'll say things, and he'll and he kind
- 38:14Speaker 2: of is a little quirky, which is fine, but he is.
- 38:17Speaker 2: He is a great conversation and that's what we want.
- 38:21Speaker 2: We want people that are great conversations. Now does he
- 38:23Speaker 2: always say the right thing?
- 38:24Speaker 1: No?
- 38:24Speaker 2: Does anyone always say the right thing? No, But he'll
- 38:27Speaker 2: give you a quote and get he'll say something and
- 38:29Speaker 2: he'll answer your question.
- 38:31Speaker 1: That's a fair respond when you talk that much and
- 38:33Speaker 1: you're not doing the bs that so many others do. Yes,
- 38:37Speaker 1: you're going to.
- 38:37Speaker 2: And if people are looking for stuff to get you on,
- 38:41Speaker 2: I'll tell you what. Okay. So I don't know if
- 38:43Speaker 2: I'm I don't really care. I Tello said, I tell
- 38:46Speaker 2: her last week what he get in trouble for. They
- 38:49Speaker 2: had a camera on him. He goes, oh, we have
- 38:50Speaker 2: the worst bat boy. Oh yeah, and then he said
- 38:53Speaker 2: f me okay, So that came up in our conversation
- 38:56Speaker 2: with the media guy standing there, the Giants Pierre guy,
- 39:00Speaker 2: and it didn't come up like I just asked him.
- 39:02Speaker 2: I was like, hey, you know, Tennessee's not very good
- 39:03Speaker 2: this year. Have you watched him? Just just trying to
- 39:06Speaker 2: you know. At the end he knows I'm a Florida fan.
- 39:08Speaker 2: We've had this conversation, so he said, honestly, I haven't
- 39:10Speaker 2: watched much. He said, I really am off social media.
- 39:14Speaker 2: I'm trying to stay off social media because I know
- 39:15Speaker 2: how it's going. And then he looks at the PR
- 39:17Speaker 2: guy and he's sitting there and he's talking. He's just
- 39:19Speaker 2: kind of like this. He looks at the PR and
- 39:20Speaker 2: he goes, did something happen with the ball boy the
- 39:23Speaker 2: other day? And I was with Kevin Coogler. We both
- 39:27Speaker 2: were like wait what. He was like, you didn't see that?
- 39:30Speaker 2: And he goes he goes, oh, you know what, you
- 39:31Speaker 2: called the ball boy slow? And he goes yeah, because
- 39:35Speaker 2: he said he was so slow and our picture was
- 39:37Speaker 2: standing out there waiting, and I said, well, just Tony,
- 39:41Speaker 2: just remember like you're the manager now, the camera is
- 39:43Speaker 2: always on you. So next time, just cover your mouth
- 39:45Speaker 2: and sh say it. Right, and he's like, I know
- 39:48Speaker 2: he goes, but what they said I said, he said,
- 39:50Speaker 2: I said it he was the slowest bad boy, not
- 39:52Speaker 2: the worst. He goes. So they got even the because
- 39:56Speaker 2: we were like, oh, this is what happened. He goes, well,
- 39:57Speaker 2: that's all I said. He was the slowest. He said,
- 39:59Speaker 2: as a picture, you want your picture to get into
- 40:01Speaker 2: a rhythm. And he's like he's got to stand out
- 40:02Speaker 2: there for a long time waiting for the guy who's
- 40:05Speaker 2: chasing the ball. He's like, that's what I was mad about.
- 40:07Speaker 2: He's like, I don't He's like, I don't know the
- 40:08Speaker 2: ball boy at all. He's just like I was just like,
- 40:10Speaker 2: we need to I want my picture in a rhythm.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I have zero issue with that whole no, But I
- 40:15Speaker 1: was that was funny to me that he that was
- 40:18Speaker 1: what he brought up.
- 40:19Speaker 2: And then he said what happened? And I was like,
- 40:20Speaker 2: you didn't know about this, Like this kind of was
- 40:22Speaker 2: a thing for a couple of days. That's what I
- 40:24Speaker 2: thought was great.
- 40:25Speaker 1: That is great, And yeah, sorry that he's telling it
- 40:28Speaker 1: like it is a little bit more and he's less
- 40:30Speaker 1: guarded about what.
- 40:31Speaker 2: He's hilarious to talk to. He was very personable. I
- 40:34Speaker 2: know why recruits wanted to go play for him. Yeah,
- 40:37Speaker 2: I mean, and I want him to do I want him,
- 40:40Speaker 2: not like I don't want him to do well. I
- 40:41Speaker 2: want him. I want to see how he'll do because
- 40:43Speaker 2: it's fascinating. We've talked about this from day one. It's
- 40:45Speaker 2: fascinating and it was.
- 40:46Speaker 1: It's a good comp because Jazz actually talks more than
- 40:51Speaker 1: any other Yankee.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Oh and he says stuff more than any other Yank.
- 40:53Speaker 1: And he's he's feeding it, you know. And he has
- 40:57Speaker 1: become a very well known guy. Right he's the same
- 41:01Speaker 1: guy that he was in Miami in terms of how
- 41:04Speaker 1: much talking he does. He used to talk like this
- 41:06Speaker 1: in Miami. It's just you have a much bigger crowd
- 41:08Speaker 1: listening to you now.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Way different. I can't wait the gift that keeps on
- 41:12Speaker 2: giving for us when he signs his free agent deal
- 41:14Speaker 2: next year or this offseason, that'll be because wherever he goes,
- 41:20Speaker 2: I mean, they're bringing you in to be who you are.
- 41:23Speaker 2: And I think he's right now. He's under the blanket
- 41:27Speaker 2: of the Yankees that kind of subdues some personality, So
- 41:30Speaker 2: we're seeing this much personality. I can't wait till we
- 41:33Speaker 2: see it outside of.
- 41:35Speaker 1: New York, true, and see where he signs. He thinks
- 41:41Speaker 1: he's worth a lot, and we'll see how he does
- 41:43Speaker 1: the rest of the year. But thanks for the content, Jas,
- 41:46Speaker 1: and thank you to Julio Rodriguez, who is paying attention
- 41:50Speaker 1: to comments online. He is not off the socials. So
- 41:54Speaker 1: you had a better weekend at a very slow start
- 41:56Speaker 1: to the year. Shocker. That always happens, and then he
- 42:00Speaker 1: it up. He pays attention to his process, keeps with it,
- 42:03Speaker 1: and the results eventually come around. You know, he wasn't
- 42:06Speaker 1: showing much power extra base, Its all that kind of deal, right,
- 42:09Speaker 1: So what was it? Sixty one played appearances beginning the
- 42:13Speaker 1: season without exiting the batter's box beyond first base until
- 42:15Speaker 1: a double then left field line the first thing of
- 42:17Speaker 1: Saturday's game? What had the big hit in that game?
- 42:20Speaker 1: Later on too to tie it a great win for
- 42:22Speaker 1: the Mariners, who had a really successful weekend against the Ashros.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Let's fast forward to comments from him that also regard
- 42:30Speaker 1: his bat speed being down. He said, I've seen so
- 42:33Speaker 1: many things online, man. People just talk so much. It's hilarious.
- 42:37Speaker 1: The funniest thing I saw, honestly, was about the bat speed. Oh,
- 42:41Speaker 1: the Mariners are swinging slower. It's like, we're not trying
- 42:44Speaker 1: to swing slower. It's just cold in Seattle.
- 42:49Speaker 2: And that was.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Daniel Kramer, who covers the team for the Mariners, putting
- 42:54Speaker 1: some of that out there.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Cold so off to a slow start every year, certain
- 43:01Speaker 2: guys just have a hard time getting to have a
- 43:03Speaker 2: good star good you know what. He's paying attention. That
- 43:06Speaker 2: means he cares right, and he's also saying, hey, I'm
- 43:09Speaker 2: tired of hearing it. You guys know I get off
- 43:10Speaker 2: to a slow start every year. Just look at my
- 43:12Speaker 2: numbers in September. We'll be fine.
- 43:13Speaker 1: We also have a new ish stat that is telling
- 43:17Speaker 1: us some interesting things and also is causing a mirage
- 43:21Speaker 1: in other cases. Don't quote me on all of this.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I am not the expert, but I'm pretty sure I
- 43:27Speaker 1: have read that cold weather usually slows down these batspeed metrics.
- 43:31Speaker 1: So take a breath before you measure off.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Well, everyone's down, but Shat's down, a Lonzo's down, Jolios down.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Now all done. This is their final season. Enjoy them
- 43:43Speaker 1: while you can. Now, in all seriousness, it's a helpful tool.
- 43:48Speaker 1: It might tell us some things about some players. There
- 43:50Speaker 1: are some that say, well, once you see bat speed,
- 43:53Speaker 1: like it really doesn't take long to normalize, but that
- 43:57Speaker 1: clearly doesn't look like the case here. Then you see
- 44:00Speaker 1: others saying, oh, wait, but it's cold weather and that
- 44:02Speaker 1: means the bat speeds are lower. So which one is it?
- 44:05Speaker 1: To me? It means I think we should wait.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Oh, these guys are cooked.
- 44:08Speaker 1: They're all cooked. Every year has been cooked for the
- 44:11Speaker 1: last few years. Go check his stats. At the end
- 44:12Speaker 1: of the year, he's like a seven win player.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Yeah, so why hasn't anybody talked about Chandler Simpson's batspeed?
- 44:19Speaker 2: Why hasn't anybody talked about Luise Roberts bat speed? Like
- 44:23Speaker 2: it's tired narrative when people are cherry picking things this
- 44:27Speaker 2: early in the season, that oh, what's what's Marcelo Zuna hitting?
- 44:32Speaker 2: Oh he's hitting seventy let's check his bat speed. See
- 44:35Speaker 2: there it is. Metrics will never lie. No, Like, there's
- 44:40Speaker 2: there's different things going on. There's a lot going on.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Because we can measure this, it doesn't mean that's the
- 44:46Speaker 2: end all be all, Like Louise Heel his his average
- 44:52Speaker 2: fastball velocity is down by a mile per hour, Like, yeah,
- 44:57Speaker 2: you can look at it. But if he has success,
- 44:59Speaker 2: do we care If he doesn't have success, is that
- 45:03Speaker 2: the end all be all of why he's not doing
- 45:06Speaker 2: as well as he should be, Like, it's just another metric,
- 45:09Speaker 2: it's something, it's something. The hitters will let you know
- 45:12Speaker 2: what your stuff is doing. The pitchers will let you know.
- 45:14Speaker 2: If your bat speed is too slow, like you're getting
- 45:17Speaker 2: blown away, then your bat speed is too slow. I
- 45:20Speaker 2: don't care if it's down from last year or up
- 45:22Speaker 2: from last year.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Take a breath.
- 45:29Speaker 2: For fifteen games, not even ten, We're not even ten
- 45:33Speaker 2: percent of the way through.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Take a breath.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Everyone has a bad fifteen games somewhere in the season.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Some guys are having really good fifteen games. And by
- 45:42Speaker 2: the way, why did the Rays not like Chandler Simpson
- 45:45Speaker 2: hitting lead off? I know as a catcher if I
- 45:46Speaker 2: had that guy hitting lead off, I would be freaking
- 45:48Speaker 2: out every game. Please don't let this guy get on first.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Please don't let this guy get on first. Please don't
- 45:53Speaker 2: let this guy get on first, because then he's gonna
- 45:54Speaker 2: steal second, He's probably gonna steal third, and I'm already
- 45:57Speaker 2: two stolen bases in the hole before we even get
- 45:59Speaker 2: started and we could be down one nothing. Why does
- 46:01Speaker 2: he Why did the Rays not want him to hit?
- 46:03Speaker 2: Leadoff pitchers to throw. Pitchers need to throw more pitches
- 46:08Speaker 2: in the zone to be able to give you a
- 46:10Speaker 2: chance to throw them out. Don't need to throw fastballs.
- 46:13Speaker 2: A breaking ball gets to the plate pretty much around
- 46:16Speaker 2: the same time. It's not that, but they can't be
- 46:18Speaker 2: bouncing them. You can't. You can't work around your two, three,
- 46:21Speaker 2: four hitters anymore because there's a guy on base that's
- 46:25Speaker 2: creating tons of havoc. Just in your mind as a catcher,
- 46:30Speaker 2: in your mind as a pitcher. I mean, Tayler Simpson
- 46:33Speaker 2: has got seven bags already this year. Like I he's
- 46:37Speaker 2: hitting four hundred his own base Okay, his on base
- 46:40Speaker 2: percentage is pretty much the same as his batting average.
- 46:43Speaker 2: But like, maybe the Rays don't think he's that good.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Maybe they think he's just hot right now.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Hold up, he let off two of the last three
- 46:50Speaker 1: games here over the weekend, and I mean he was
- 46:53Speaker 1: a force this weekend against the Yankees. He was a pest.
- 46:56Speaker 1: He's really fun to watch. Injuries do suck. We're actually
- 47:05Speaker 1: going to start on a somewhat high note. Spencer Strider
- 47:09Speaker 1: beginning his rehab assignment on a Thursday. It'll be forty
- 47:13Speaker 1: to forty five pitches. Walt White said he does not
- 47:15Speaker 1: expect Strider back this month. This is coming from Mark
- 47:19Speaker 1: Bowman's tweet. He said, this is longer than the quotes,
- 47:23Speaker 1: sooner than later projections initially heard. But it's smart to
- 47:25Speaker 1: be cautious with the oblique injuries. That is true. Sometimes
- 47:29Speaker 1: you hear about this stuff, and for Strider, it was
- 47:31Speaker 1: what right towards the end of spring training and you're like, oh,
- 47:34Speaker 1: it's probably like a week or two or something. Get
- 47:36Speaker 1: out of here. It's like a monkey cache was a picture. No,
- 47:39Speaker 1: So he'll be back in May. It's good that he's
- 47:42Speaker 1: getting going with his rehab assignment, but he's essentially starting
- 47:45Speaker 1: his spring training progression now.
- 47:47Speaker 2: Yes, it's gonna be a while, it's.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Gonna be a minute. And the Braves, I don't want
- 47:52Speaker 1: to say that they're going to rush me either way
- 47:53Speaker 1: because it's on a long term deal. But they're in
- 47:55Speaker 1: a good spot right now. They're often a nice start.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Things are working out for them.
- 47:58Speaker 2: So far, so good, so far.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Adley Rutchman injured, list Inkle injury running the bases on Friday.
- 48:07Speaker 1: It felt weird on Saturday and got worse as the
- 48:11Speaker 1: day progressed. This is Jacob covin Myers tweet Rushman getting
- 48:16Speaker 1: an MRI and alburnas manager said, putting him on the
- 48:20Speaker 1: IL was to nip this in the butt, suggesting it's
- 48:23Speaker 1: not too serious.
- 48:25Speaker 2: It's the only issue I have with this. What I
- 48:27Speaker 2: was there on Saturday, Yeah, did our did our scorecard?
- 48:30Speaker 2: Did our score book? You know, he could do the
- 48:31Speaker 2: score book. And he was in the original lineup, and
- 48:33Speaker 2: I had a full conversation with Adley in the clubhouse,
- 48:36Speaker 2: full conversation him and Brian Roberts. Brian Roberts, by the way,
- 48:40Speaker 2: has a great tan going just saying but always oh
- 48:43Speaker 2: amazing tan. But I was talking to Adlie, Brian Roberts,
- 48:46Speaker 2: kid beat Adley and golf and this it was this
- 48:49Speaker 2: whole thing. We were having, this whole conversation. I'm like, hey,
- 48:51Speaker 2: do something cool. Then I'd be cool to see you
- 48:52Speaker 2: go deep or something. Addy just kind of like hey, yeah,
- 48:56Speaker 2: And then like ten minutes later he's out of the
- 48:57Speaker 2: lineup on the al I'm like then I So then
- 48:59Speaker 2: I went back in after the game. I was like
- 49:01Speaker 2: a like, what happened. He's like, oh, I couldn't tell you,
- 49:05Speaker 2: but I hurt my foot and I was trying to
- 49:07Speaker 2: and I was trying to play through it, and then
- 49:09Speaker 2: just they said just nip it in the butt and
- 49:11Speaker 2: and I was like, wow, you could have liked maybe
- 49:13Speaker 2: because then you made like me and Coogler mess up
- 49:16Speaker 2: our score books because he had scratch it out.
- 49:19Speaker 1: I'm worried you're gonna break the news. You're gonna I'm
- 49:22Speaker 1: not gonna tell anybody. I know. That's funny. They don't know,
- 49:26Speaker 1: and it's just they don't know that.
- 49:29Speaker 2: Yeah. And I was just like, really, like, you could
- 49:31Speaker 2: have gave me like the wink wink kind of thing.
- 49:33Speaker 1: You clearly knew you was playing. And they do the
- 49:37Speaker 1: test so sometimes, I mean I have seen that.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Well No, I think what he was doing was seeing
- 49:40Speaker 2: how it felt during VP and all that, and it
- 49:42Speaker 2: didn't feel right, so they put him on the which
- 49:44Speaker 2: it's not I mean, it's just more of a Also,
- 49:48Speaker 2: I was weird had Shane base on and uh turned
- 49:51Speaker 2: to the game and he was great, great, and we
- 49:53Speaker 2: need to get him on the show at some point.
- 49:54Speaker 2: Great cut, great interview. But then Chris Bassett was pitching
- 49:57Speaker 2: Saturday night. He was star So he walks in. We
- 50:01Speaker 2: obviously know Chris Passt and he comes up to me
- 50:04Speaker 2: and he's walking by, and he has no shoes on,
- 50:06Speaker 2: of course, because he doesn't wear shower shoes, and I
- 50:10Speaker 2: and I just kind of looked at him. And I
- 50:12Speaker 2: was talking to Boz and he's like, hey, what's up.
- 50:14Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh, or can I talk to you
- 50:16Speaker 2: because you're starting today? He's like yeah, and he sat down.
- 50:18Speaker 2: We had like a twenty minute conference, him and Boz
- 50:21Speaker 2: and we were talking about all kinds of stuff and
- 50:23Speaker 2: I was like, dang. And then but he did say
- 50:25Speaker 2: he would.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Now wear shower shoes, So you changed him.
- 50:28Speaker 2: I didn't change it, but somebody did.
- 50:30Speaker 1: Who did?
- 50:31Speaker 2: I don't know. He said he has to wear shower shoes.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Now, well it has to be from FT.
- 50:35Speaker 2: That was a huge I know he said he wears
- 50:38Speaker 2: shower shoes. Update on Chris passes he now wears shower shoes.
- 50:41Speaker 1: Wow, that's big news that we just learned here.
- 50:44Speaker 2: And also, I don't care. I'm gonna say this you
- 50:47Speaker 2: Crystal care because they won. He let me pick the
- 50:50Speaker 2: jersey Saturday night. Oh cool, that's a click black. They won.
- 50:55Speaker 2: If they would have lost, I would have felt terrible.
- 50:56Speaker 2: But since they won, I'm gonna tell the story.
- 50:57Speaker 1: They're feeling it right now.
- 50:58Speaker 2: So we're in there and then that the clubhous guy
- 51:01Speaker 2: used to be the visiting guy, Fred h comes out
- 51:04Speaker 2: and baskets in there and he goes, hey, what jerseys
- 51:06Speaker 2: do you want to wear? He goes, I don't care.
- 51:08Speaker 2: He's like, hey, Jay, what jersey should I wear tonight?
- 51:10Speaker 2: And I'm like, I don't put that on me, dude,
- 51:12Speaker 2: and he goes, no, no, no, you're pick tonight. And
- 51:14Speaker 2: I said, well, where the city connects that you were,
- 51:16Speaker 2: because I think they're kind of cool. And he goes, no,
- 51:18Speaker 2: we wore those last night we lost. I can't wear
- 51:19Speaker 2: those and he go what are my ops? He's like black,
- 51:21Speaker 2: orange or white? And I said, well not orange because
- 51:24Speaker 2: orange is not a good look. He goes, all right,
- 51:26Speaker 2: black white. I go black. Let's go black tonight. And
- 51:28Speaker 2: then they ended up winning. He pitched pretty well and
- 51:30Speaker 2: they won the game, and dah dah dah dah. So
- 51:32Speaker 2: you know, good job. I'm saying, I got them hop
- 51:34Speaker 2: but they went to in a row. It's like, why
- 51:37Speaker 2: did they did wear white. Yesterday I was.
- 51:39Speaker 1: Checking, Oh they went to white.
- 51:42Speaker 2: Yeah, because people don't know the starting pitcher picks the jersey.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Yes on most teams, rights in most scenarios, Yes.
- 51:48Speaker 2: And most teams if they win, they wear them again.
- 51:49Speaker 1: But sometimes they have to wear jerseys.
- 51:51Speaker 2: Yes, there are certain nights. But also like with the
- 51:53Speaker 2: City Connects, the Rays, remember they went on that long
- 51:57Speaker 2: winning streak and they just kept wearing them and they
- 51:58Speaker 2: were like, we don't care, We're wearing them every night.
- 52:00Speaker 2: And then the Royals war. There's a bunch of days
- 52:02Speaker 2: in row because they threw two shutouts in a row.
- 52:03Speaker 2: They're we're gonna wear him again.
- 52:05Speaker 1: The Red Sox did that at one point with the
- 52:06Speaker 1: yellow jerseys.
- 52:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:08Speaker 1: So anyways, not that anyone superstitious or anything.
- 52:11Speaker 2: No, nobody just to wrap it.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Up on yeah, just a little stitious. The Orioles do
- 52:16Speaker 1: have Samuel Pisio, so that's when he's not our backup catch.
- 52:19Speaker 2: He did it ahole now, but he's he was, he's struggling.
- 52:22Speaker 2: He was struggling a little bit.
- 52:23Speaker 1: He's gonna get some everyday reps because now a little time.
- 52:26Speaker 2: I know, I felt bad for Adley because when I
- 52:27Speaker 2: saw him after the game. I was like, dude, you've
- 52:28Speaker 2: been banging. He's like, I know, it sucks bad timing.
- 52:31Speaker 2: It's like, I know, dang, dude, you're you're looking good
- 52:34Speaker 2: for anybody. And I know this isn't Samuel Bissio like
- 52:39Speaker 2: section of our show, but just remember what they said
- 52:42Speaker 2: in uh the hangover. He looks like a grown man,
- 52:47Speaker 2: but he's a child. Like just because Samuel Bassio is
- 52:51Speaker 2: hitting the ball four hundred and fifty feet, just because
- 52:53Speaker 2: he's six foot five, he's behind a dish, you know,
- 52:56Speaker 2: more of like an advanced position. He is still young.
- 53:00Speaker 2: He is a child. So the things that he goes
- 53:03Speaker 2: through in the game, like, he will be fine. Just
- 53:06Speaker 2: let him continue to learn in the big leagues. It
- 53:09Speaker 2: might some growing pains, I get it, but let him
- 53:13Speaker 2: continue to learn and make big league mistakes as a
- 53:16Speaker 2: young player.
- 53:18Speaker 1: He's twenty one years old. Actually today's.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Here's twenty thirteen.
- 53:24Speaker 1: Oh no, no, no, I'm just kidding. Wait, yes it
- 53:27Speaker 1: is no, Scott, I saw April. I got confused. You
- 53:31Speaker 1: got April fools a little well, it says as of
- 53:34Speaker 1: April thirteen, blah blah blah, and then it says D B.
- 53:36Speaker 1: August thirteen.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Got my age that cursive is tough to read.
- 53:40Speaker 1: Guy, it's tough the rules.
- 53:42Speaker 2: He said, We don't we don't read much cursive these days.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Interesting, that's true. You don't read or write it much, right.
- 53:54Speaker 2: They don't even teach it anymore in a lot of places.
- 53:56Speaker 1: No, So anyway, besides twenty one, he's very rich already.
- 54:01Speaker 1: He signed that deal last year. But at the catcher position,
- 54:05Speaker 1: there's a lot coming at you. One more on the
- 54:08Speaker 1: injury suck front. The Astros are getting pummeled right now
- 54:12Speaker 1: with injuries. So Javier is officially on the IL from
- 54:16Speaker 1: the other day when we were talking about that, and
- 54:17Speaker 1: then just during the show, Tatsuyamai as the sore arm,
- 54:21Speaker 1: he's officially placed on the IL. Jeremy Jeremy Pania just
- 54:27Speaker 1: went on the shelf with a Grade one hamstring strain.
- 54:30Speaker 1: It is just coming at them so fast, that's what happens.
- 54:35Speaker 2: You got to have depth, got to have the depth.
- 54:38Speaker 1: A lot of lost what is it seven in a row,
- 54:43Speaker 1: I think it's seven. They've already had a five and
- 54:45Speaker 1: a seven gamer, a five game win streak, and a
- 54:48Speaker 1: seven game losing skid. That's actually like pretty difficult to
- 54:52Speaker 1: do this early in the season that they've had both
- 54:55Speaker 1: of this, So Houston's going through it. Will they be okay?
- 55:00Speaker 2: Eh? I don't know, not if they're out for a while.
- 55:04Speaker 1: No. And then lastly, Gabriel Moreno likely headed for an injury.
- 55:09Speaker 1: Lists didn't We learned that over the weekend. I don't
- 55:11Speaker 1: think we got the official news yet on on it.
- 55:15Speaker 1: But he's hurt. He's probably gonna miss some time. Del
- 55:19Speaker 1: Castillo had a big knock for them, and there, uh
- 55:23Speaker 1: what was it? Five to four went over the Phillies yesterday.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Good series, good back and forth between the Diamondbacks and
- 55:28Speaker 1: the Phillies.
- 55:29Speaker 2: Okay, who did my candid? Oh yeah, pouring off against
- 55:35Speaker 2: the weird like opener Pop that they that the Phillies
- 55:39Speaker 2: did get Andrew Painter gone and Pop opened the game.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Well, Painter was really sick, apparently like growing up, dehydrateed
- 55:48Speaker 1: all this stuff. He was pretty sick. And then I
- 55:50Speaker 1: saw him postgame be like, if I didn't pitch, someone
- 55:53Speaker 1: probably gets sent down for reading innings, Like you know,
- 55:55Speaker 1: he's trying to do the Hey, I tried to get
- 55:57Speaker 1: myself gone. I remember seeing like the live tweeting they're like,
- 56:00Speaker 1: Painter not ready for the start, but he's gonna try
- 56:02Speaker 1: and come in the middle, so you give him credit.
- 56:04Speaker 1: It sounded like he was pretty sick and he still
- 56:07Speaker 1: gave them a little bit. Yeah, but anyway, Phillies lost
- 56:10Speaker 1: that a bad weekend. They lost two edit three, right Crats.
- 56:15Speaker 2: Yeah that was Friday and Sunday. Yeah, mean Painter's still
- 56:17Speaker 2: give him five innings, not like he went out there
- 56:19Speaker 2: and did That's what I'm saying, seven punches, seven tickets punch.
- 56:23Speaker 1: So I mean in many cases struggled when when you're
- 56:25Speaker 1: not ready for the start, like teams will just scratch it.
- 56:28Speaker 1: Like he's sick, he's young, was pitching Noir or something.
- 56:31Speaker 1: He was like, No, I don't want someone to get
- 56:32Speaker 1: sent down. I'll throw this in there. Craig Kimberl back
- 56:37Speaker 1: up in the bigs.
- 56:39Speaker 2: I don't even know who he's with. I know he
- 56:41Speaker 2: signed with somebody, who.
- 56:42Speaker 1: Is it Mets, the Mets cut Louis.
- 56:45Speaker 2: He's going to be on Crats. He's going to be
- 56:47Speaker 2: on more organizations than craps. Yeah, a bunch of brakes
- 56:52Speaker 2: on that. Okay, hang on one set. Let's say Kimberl's got
- 56:55Speaker 2: about it nine. Now, don'd how meany's he.
- 56:57Speaker 1: Got pitch for a lot of teams.
- 56:59Speaker 2: I mean, off the top of my head, Braves, Padres, Orioles,
- 57:03Speaker 2: Red Sox.
- 57:04Speaker 1: Mats Padres, Red Sox, Cubs, Sox, Dodgers, Phillies, Orioles. Back
- 57:11Speaker 1: to the Braves, Houston and now.
- 57:15Speaker 2: Don't pump the brakes. I mean, I got fourteen organizations. Okay,
- 57:21Speaker 2: so we're we're still still got ten league teams. Okay,
- 57:29Speaker 2: so he tied me with big league teams. That's fair.
- 57:32Speaker 2: I said he was in your territory.
- 57:33Speaker 1: Yep.
- 57:34Speaker 2: Technically, technically, I guess he has to pitch. He did pitch, pitched,
- 57:43Speaker 2: got two punches too. We could always do that. Get
- 57:47Speaker 2: some punchies.
- 57:48Speaker 1: That's already cut. Luis Garcia. By the way, they gave
- 57:50Speaker 1: him I think one and change, like one seven five
- 57:53Speaker 1: or something, and he just didn't have it. That was
- 57:55Speaker 1: the classic, Like Steve Cohen phone call, Nope, not waiting,
- 58:01Speaker 1: don't care, you know, because some owners, I mean, work
- 58:05Speaker 1: two weeks into the season. Some owners will be like, yeah,
- 58:08Speaker 1: I spent real money on this, I'm waiting. Steve Collin's like, no,
- 58:11Speaker 1: I'm done. I don't want to see this anymore. I
- 58:13Speaker 1: didn't like it. You know, it's a little bit of
- 58:16Speaker 1: fan in him. How many appearances for Garcia one, two, six,
- 58:20Speaker 1: and he was like, no, thanks, I'm out. Stuff doesn't
- 58:24Speaker 1: look the same. It doesn't in fairness, but it's early.
- 58:26Speaker 2: So Timberland Fam coming up for the Mets.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know if I actually mentioned this in
- 58:33Speaker 1: the segment, but remember when Francisco Lindor brought up how
- 58:37Speaker 1: he had never seen someone train like Tommy Fam and
- 58:39Speaker 1: learned from him. When you have a vet like that
- 58:42Speaker 1: saying that about Pam. Can't hurt to have Fam do
- 58:45Speaker 1: that with some others up there. Yeah, Tommy is interesting.
- 58:50Speaker 1: He'll mix it up, but he'll tell it to you straight.
- 58:52Speaker 1: He's gonna come up and be like, you're not doing
- 58:55Speaker 1: that right? I mean the Mets look pretty pretty weird
- 58:57Speaker 1: on defense as expected right now too, Guys out of position,
- 59:03Speaker 1: that's not nothing.
- 59:05Speaker 2: You know, run prevention.
- 59:07Speaker 1: You can't just plug everyone everywhere all the time.
- 59:10Speaker 2: What No, he sends you a glove and you can
- 59:13Speaker 2: play that position, Scott, Come on, No, I learned that
- 59:17Speaker 2: on this show. Easy game.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Let's laugh. This was hilarious. They had a ceremony for
- 59:40Speaker 1: each e ro and they unveiled the statue and the
- 59:43Speaker 1: bat breaks, and then the Mariners Twitter account, like in
- 59:46Speaker 1: seconds was putting up some funny line. I forgot what
- 59:49Speaker 1: it was about it, so props to the whole situation
- 59:54Speaker 1: playing out that way. I think each year also said
- 59:56Speaker 1: that Marianna Rivera broke it. It's just it was good
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Friday content and we just got to it since it
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: was after our show.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Oh, there it is from the Mariners. They go breaking
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: where we've updated Tonight's each he wrote replica statue giveaway
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: and they showed a mini version of the broken bat.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: That's a plus. That deserves the whatever it is at
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: this point, I think happened four or five million views
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: on Twitter. No, I think it's funny to make light
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: of it, like it's a statue, Like you'll they'll fix it.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: They can fix it.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: My favorite was the guy came up that the somebody
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: responded to the video. The guy came up and like
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: fixed it, and he was just like and they're like, wow,
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: this guy should be employed by the Mariners. He needs
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: to fix their bats in their lineup too, if it's
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: that easy. There was a lot of good ones.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: There were, yeah, and so insert joke since the you know,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: the Mariners hadn't been swinging the bats well. And then
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: of course they meet up with the Astros and take
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: the first three in the series. Some in the chat
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: were asking why there's an afternoon game today. It's a
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: getaway day on the Mondays the wrap around. Yeah, they
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: don't have as many of those.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: Before we get off year. I mean, do we give
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: congratulations to air Krafts? Oh, yes, for being named that Yankee?
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: And everyone's like, who's this guy?
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Did you get a lot of texts?
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: I did. I got text during the game from different
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: people that are Yankees fans, that are my buddies, and
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: they were like, I had no idea who it was.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: And then like they I got put on threads and
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: they're like, I don't know who that is. And then
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: obviously later in a game when they unveil it, they
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: were like, what this was? You? You were such a loser,
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: I feel kind of famous.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you were very famous over the weekend. And I
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: know this creates extra work, but occasionally free idea if
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: they get some like krats would have texted them at
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: like a five second video like it's me. I think
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: it would have had it.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Oh, I totally would have done it.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Podcast. Yeah, we can finish with this krats hats and
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: then I have something for a j on the way out.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: A team that's quiet, quiet, quietly playing really well. The
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Sacramento Ace sate you guys sending me this hat from
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: all the way from Sacramento.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: That yellow pops.
