- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 1: What's up, everybody? Welcome to move the sticks? DJ, Bucky
- 0:09Speaker 1: Rhett with you. Buck Rhett is kept the streak alive.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I think this is just the rock Indiana hat for
- 0:20Speaker 1: day number I don't know, sixty seven sixty seven straight days.
- 0:24Speaker 1: He's warn't that hat.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Stick with the works, baby, stick with what works.
- 0:28Speaker 1: How confident are you this week?
- 0:30Speaker 2: By the way, Look, this could be a tough one,
- 0:33Speaker 2: no question, but I am supremely confident because look, it's
- 0:38Speaker 2: about the sum of the parts.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Okay, it's not about we got to lead over here.
- 0:42Speaker 3: We got to lead over here. It's about we got
- 0:44Speaker 3: an lead team. We have the best cohesive team in
- 0:47Speaker 3: the conference. That counts for something.
- 0:49Speaker 4: I cannot believe.
- 0:50Speaker 5: I would think that after our conversation with Kirk signeted
- 0:53Speaker 5: that you would be full of all kinds of figure,
- 0:54Speaker 5: that you would make a bowl proclamation that this is
- 0:56Speaker 5: the time we're about to guaranteed this, and that like, well, yeah,
- 1:01Speaker 5: that's totally we're gonna get it done.
- 1:02Speaker 1: No no, no, no, no no no.
- 1:03Speaker 4: I don't want to I don't want you.
- 1:04Speaker 5: You're you're backing into it, like he was very bold
- 1:07Speaker 5: when he went to an assembly hall to talk about
- 1:10Speaker 5: we're on our way, we're bringing it back.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Whatever. I appreciate. Look, I don't feel like you're you're
- 1:14Speaker 4: meeting him where his energy has.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Been not just been saying it all year long? Why
- 1:19Speaker 2: why make my innarrative any different now? I mean, we
- 1:22Speaker 2: are deserving of the respect that no one is giving us.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I'll be honest with you. If you'd just said before
- 1:28Speaker 1: this season started that one of the three of us
- 1:30Speaker 1: would have their alma mater in the twelve team playoff,
- 1:33Speaker 1: I would.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Have thought I would I would.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I would have thought it would at least been it
- 1:37Speaker 1: would have been Bucky and myself having a debate on
- 1:39Speaker 1: whether we're going to be kind of a group of
- 1:41Speaker 1: five team. Maybe BUCkies can can wrangle the very downtrodden
- 1:46Speaker 1: a CC. Nope, that ain't happening. It's it's it was
- 1:50Speaker 1: just undefeated. That's insane, man, just like absolute.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Do you know how controllable he will be?
- 1:56Speaker 1: Oh? I know you can you just maybe?
- 2:00Speaker 3: I mean, look there in the playoff, you know.
- 2:02Speaker 1: What I'm I mean pretty much, if you lose this game,
- 2:04Speaker 1: can you still be in the you'll still be in
- 2:06Speaker 1: the conference.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Championshi no, no, would virtually go Yeah, that works for them.
- 2:13Speaker 3: That guarantees that they're in the things.
- 2:15Speaker 5: So here's what I'm gonna do. Because I know you
- 2:17Speaker 5: can be out of control. I'm gonna block you from
- 2:19Speaker 5: Friday to Monday so I don't have to do it.
- 2:22Speaker 4: So just win.
- 2:24Speaker 5: I'm gonna block you so I don't have to see them.
- 2:27Speaker 5: We'll pick it back up on Monday, because if you win,
- 2:30Speaker 5: it's gonna be out of control.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, look, winning is winning is what I do.
- 2:35Speaker 3: As you guys will see the rookie.
- 2:38Speaker 1: That's been your year. It is all coming up roses
- 2:40Speaker 1: for Rett this year. All right, it's time for the
- 2:42Speaker 1: lead Block, presented by Team Mobile for Business. Football Needs
- 2:45Speaker 1: Network willing to go the extra yard. So do you
- 2:48Speaker 1: go further with T Mobile for Business. A couple of
- 2:51Speaker 1: pieces of news I want to get to here. We
- 2:52Speaker 1: have the the Giants have moved on from Daniel Jones.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Was like that era is going to be over. He
- 2:58Speaker 1: is going to be the third quarterback for them. We'll
- 3:00Speaker 1: get to that in a minute. But right as we're
- 3:03Speaker 1: getting ready to go here, maybe about an hour or
- 3:05Speaker 1: so before we recorded the New York Jets have let
- 3:08Speaker 1: go of Joe Douglas or Joe Douglas has been fired
- 3:11Speaker 1: as a general manager of the New York Jets. Gosha
- 3:14Speaker 1: what a month plus after Robert Sala had been let go.
- 3:17Speaker 1: So does wholesale changes there in New York, Buck, I'll
- 3:21Speaker 1: start with you. We'll kind of go with the what
- 3:25Speaker 1: went wrong discussion here, and we'll attack this from some
- 3:28Speaker 1: different different angles here. Go ahead.
- 3:31Speaker 5: I would say I feel like that New York is
- 3:33Speaker 5: a very very hard place to win because ownership and
- 3:37Speaker 5: everything around ownership is always in the way. I don't
- 3:40Speaker 5: know if you can fully build out a team that
- 3:44Speaker 5: you believe that you have to build without ownership winging
- 3:48Speaker 5: in and allowing you to do your thing. I never
- 3:50Speaker 5: got the sense that Joe deeb was building the team
- 3:53Speaker 5: and the image that he knows a team has to
- 3:55Speaker 5: be built. It seemed like New York didn't have the
- 3:59Speaker 5: patience to do the homegrown draft and developed process. But
- 4:03Speaker 5: they brought in older players, which also makes it very
- 4:06Speaker 5: very hard to sustain success in those things. And when
- 4:09Speaker 5: you look at the draft pics, I think you can
- 4:11Speaker 5: say successfully they did have some nice pieces that were
- 4:15Speaker 5: drafted that emerged as blue chip talents. But I just
- 4:18Speaker 5: don't think it mixed in terms of the alignment between
- 4:21Speaker 5: we're going to draft develop and it takes time to
- 4:23Speaker 5: build that kind of product in that city that doesn't
- 4:26Speaker 5: have a lot of patients for a team developing.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, as strange as it is, I mean
- 4:33Speaker 2: you go back to look at the origins of this, right,
- 4:35Speaker 2: I think with every I don't know, I don't want to.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I want to give it the blanket statement. But with
- 4:39Speaker 2: every but with most personnel executive move you know, moving on,
- 4:46Speaker 2: firing whatever, you find a failed quarterback, right.
- 4:51Speaker 1: And you got more it's not more.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you go back to the twenty twenty season, right,
- 4:57Speaker 2: those two wins at the end of the regular season
- 5:00Speaker 2: in which the Jets were on their way to the
- 5:01Speaker 2: number one overall pick. Look, they end up, you know,
- 5:04Speaker 2: winning two games against the Browns and the Rams at
- 5:06Speaker 2: the end of that season, that lost season, and they
- 5:09Speaker 2: moved from one to two. And look, I think they
- 5:12Speaker 2: were you know, would have taken Trevor Lawrence. I don't
- 5:14Speaker 2: think there's any question about that. There's a question about
- 5:16Speaker 2: whether that's working in Jacksonville too. Now, I mean like
- 5:19Speaker 2: not to say that would have been a short thing.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Hold on, hold on just right there, because I want
- 5:23Speaker 1: to pen in that for a second. I want to
- 5:25Speaker 1: ask you a question, Ritt. I was just thinking about this.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Would you rather be the like, if you're a prospective
- 5:31Speaker 1: coach and would you rather have no Zach Wilson with
- 5:37Speaker 1: the Jets or Trevor and the financial commitment to Trevor
- 5:43Speaker 1: in Jacksonville as your options? Would you rather have the
- 5:47Speaker 1: deck cleared or would you rather have you are tied
- 5:50Speaker 1: and committed to Trevor going forward? I would just think
- 5:53Speaker 1: about It's interesting.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it is.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I think I would still rather w know, de w,
- 5:57Speaker 2: you don't rather I'd rather be in the position that
- 6:00Speaker 2: the Jaguars are in right now, as opposed to where
- 6:03Speaker 2: the Jets are going to be in the quarterback desert,
- 6:05Speaker 2: you know, again for how long? I think that's That's
- 6:08Speaker 2: kind of where I would sit. But again, situations are different.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Play caller, playmaker, you know that whole thing, protection like,
- 6:14Speaker 2: how does that all end up if.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Trevor is the quarterback of the Jets.
- 6:16Speaker 2: We don't know, could be in the same situation, but
- 6:18Speaker 2: ultimately the Zach Wilson failure led them down the road
- 6:22Speaker 2: of Aaron Rodgers, which was turned into a catastrophic failure
- 6:26Speaker 2: in New York in which is now you know we're
- 6:28Speaker 2: talking about regime change once again.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Yeah, they took big swings and it didn't work. Those
- 6:32Speaker 1: are two big quarterback swings. One at the top of
- 6:35Speaker 1: the draft, the other one in free agency. I'm with you,
- 6:39Speaker 1: I pose that question, but I would still Trevor warts
- 6:42Speaker 1: and all. I've seen Trevor play at a playoff caliber levels.
- 6:46Speaker 1: He has not recently. That contract is a little cumbersome there,
- 6:51Speaker 1: but I would I would prefer that.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Now.
- 6:54Speaker 1: The only thing I will say on the Jets side
- 6:55Speaker 1: of things, and Buck, I want you to hit that
- 6:58Speaker 1: as well. But the thing wot's say you took you
- 7:01Speaker 1: took swings at quarterback. If we go back to that
- 7:04Speaker 1: quarterback class. This is the only thing I'll say. If
- 7:06Speaker 1: you have the first pick you take Trevor, I think
- 7:08Speaker 1: you hit that ret. But you don't have the first pick.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I still don't have a problem with taking a big swing.
- 7:16Speaker 1: And I think and I would challenge somebody to tell
- 7:18Speaker 1: me that that Zach Wilson wasn't the most gifted thrower.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Now we're playing quarterback is a different conversation. But just
- 7:26Speaker 1: the most gifted thrower, the highest ceiling, the highest upside
- 7:29Speaker 1: of those guys because of what he showed how he
- 7:31Speaker 1: could throw a football. It was a big swing. It
- 7:34Speaker 1: was a high risk, high reward pick. It bombed, it
- 7:37Speaker 1: did not work out. The question I have is, well, none,
- 7:42Speaker 1: who would you rather who would you rather have them take?
- 7:45Speaker 1: All those other guys are not even on those teams anymore?
- 7:48Speaker 4: One of those guys.
- 7:49Speaker 1: So I just and then on the other side of
- 7:51Speaker 1: it, it's like, Okay, well we whiffed on the we whiffed
- 7:54Speaker 1: on this one. We got to go try and find
- 7:56Speaker 1: a veteran. I know he's long on the tooth, but
- 7:58Speaker 1: he guy's won four MVP and Aaron Rodgers. I have
- 8:02Speaker 1: more of a problem with trying to cap just to
- 8:06Speaker 1: cater to Rogers in terms of the offensive coordinator and
- 8:10Speaker 1: bringing in some of these older pieces and his buddies
- 8:12Speaker 1: and literally kind of giving over the organization to him.
- 8:15Speaker 1: That's just my personal thing. But that was another big
- 8:18Speaker 1: swing too. So look, neither one of them worked out, Buck,
- 8:21Speaker 1: But at some point in time, you gotta take your shots.
- 8:24Speaker 1: They took their shots and that didn't work.
- 8:26Speaker 5: They did, But my question is not even like not
- 8:30Speaker 5: even answering that stuff because like, look, having watched Mac
- 8:33Speaker 5: Jones twice in person in Jacksonville, like, I don't know
- 8:37Speaker 5: if that would have worked anywhere. The fact that he
- 8:39Speaker 5: was able to put the performance that he put together
- 8:41Speaker 5: in New England would be a surprise based on the
- 8:43Speaker 5: player that I've seen work out justin fields doesn't work
- 8:47Speaker 5: in Chicago, Trey Lance bombs in San Francisco. So Zach
- 8:50Speaker 5: Wilson is the only other one. The only one who
- 8:52Speaker 5: has partially worked has been Trevor Laurence. So how can
- 8:55Speaker 5: you knock that?
- 8:55Speaker 1: And I think we he was off the board when
- 8:58Speaker 1: they picked Oh yeah, right right.
- 8:59Speaker 5: So I think we on the outside have to be
- 9:01Speaker 5: comfortable with teams taking swings at quarterbacks in it failing.
- 9:05Speaker 4: I know we'd like to think.
- 9:06Speaker 5: That because you take someone in the top five or
- 9:08Speaker 5: top ten, that it's always gonna work. I just think
- 9:10Speaker 5: in this era of quarterbacks, you got to swing and
- 9:13Speaker 5: miss and you have to move on quickly. What I
- 9:15Speaker 5: would say, and what I would contend is what kind
- 9:18Speaker 5: of team can you build in New York that can
- 9:21Speaker 5: be successful because of the last twelve to thirteen years,
- 9:24Speaker 5: they haven't gone to the playoffs.
- 9:25Speaker 4: They've been a bunch of different people.
- 9:26Speaker 5: That have tried to build a championship caliber team in
- 9:29Speaker 5: New York. So asking both of you guys, what do
- 9:33Speaker 5: you think are essential ingredients to being able to build
- 9:36Speaker 5: a consistent winner in New York because it hasn't been
- 9:39Speaker 5: done of late.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I to me, it's your drafting offensive lineman out the wazoo.
- 9:45Speaker 1: It's hard to be a bad team with the great
- 9:48Speaker 1: offensive line. And I don't think you know, Joe hasn't
- 9:51Speaker 1: hit on all the offensive lineman he's picked. He's taken
- 9:53Speaker 1: some swings, got some solid guys in there. You know,
- 9:56Speaker 1: the Tyrone Smith. I thought that, you know, was that
- 9:59Speaker 1: was done. That was a project with this Yeah, that
- 10:02Speaker 1: wasn't going to work. You got a couple of thirty
- 10:04Speaker 1: three year old tackles. I think that was troublesome. But
- 10:07Speaker 1: I think in the draft, I don't think you can
- 10:09Speaker 1: draft enough of them. And I say that as someone
- 10:11Speaker 1: who's calling Charger games and has seen a commitment to
- 10:14Speaker 1: the offensive line. And obviously they have the quarterback that's
- 10:17Speaker 1: a huge part of it. But I just believe in
- 10:19Speaker 1: that building philosophy of you know, we're going to keep
- 10:22Speaker 1: going back to that well each and every year. I
- 10:24Speaker 1: saw it with the Ravens. I've seen it with the
- 10:25Speaker 1: Philadelphi Eagles teams that I've been a part of. Buck,
- 10:28Speaker 1: I'm sure the great teams you've been on Super Bowl teams,
- 10:31Speaker 1: it's hard to be. It's they're good in the trenches, man,
- 10:33Speaker 1: and they've looked the defensive side of the ball. Defensive
- 10:37Speaker 1: lineman they have, they're they've loaded up. They've got a
- 10:40Speaker 1: really really talented defensive line. Jermaine Johnson comes back next year.
- 10:44Speaker 1: You've got Quinn Williams signed up long term. You know.
- 10:48Speaker 1: They they've got they've got dudes. Will McDonald has been
- 10:50Speaker 1: awesome as an edge rusher. So and now they've got
- 10:54Speaker 1: Hassan Reddick in the building. So they're going to be
- 10:56Speaker 1: really good on the defensive front. They need to hire
- 10:58Speaker 1: the right coach. They need to. I think they need
- 11:00Speaker 1: to go in a different direction at quarterback and then
- 11:04Speaker 1: just throw all of your assets draft wise, free agency,
- 11:07Speaker 1: younger free agents, uh on the offensive line. Buck. I
- 11:11Speaker 1: think that's that's how I look at it.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Red.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I don't know if you if you look at it
- 11:15Speaker 1: any differently.
- 11:16Speaker 2: But I don't think there's any I don't think there's
- 11:17Speaker 2: another way to look at it. I really don't. And
- 11:21Speaker 2: it's not to say that. You know, the Jets didn't
- 11:24Speaker 2: take their swings up on the offensive line either, right,
- 11:27Speaker 2: you mentioned it. I mean Mkai Beck then obviously didn't
- 11:29Speaker 2: work out, but started out hot, Right, we've seen that before.
- 11:32Speaker 1: He's playing pretty good with Jeff Stoutlin. Yeah, I always
- 11:35Speaker 1: kicked inside the guard.
- 11:36Speaker 3: But Smucker has been great when healthy.
- 11:40Speaker 2: But he's been you know, he's missed a ton of games,
- 11:42Speaker 2: and it's got some ability there.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I mean, I think that is that's the place to go.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Let's see what happens with Olu Fashionu and and you know,
- 11:50Speaker 2: moving forward, hopefully you can get something out of that
- 11:52Speaker 2: pick and and maybe you know it's not a complete
- 11:56Speaker 2: you know, spend another five years trying to figure this
- 11:59Speaker 2: thing out, but you continued to bolster up front and
- 12:02Speaker 2: then you make a you know, what position are you
- 12:06Speaker 2: going to be in to go get it? Are you
- 12:08Speaker 2: going to try to go get one of the reclamation
- 12:09Speaker 2: projects that we've been telling, like the same Darnald Dish
- 12:12Speaker 2: type quarterback whole settle, settle, No, no, no, I'm saying that
- 12:21Speaker 2: type of quarterback right, like the geno, right, the guy
- 12:24Speaker 2: who on that one man.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Oh so Daniel j Daniel Jos can move across.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Yeah, don't move, Just bring him on over.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Anybody want to be in that market? Perfect quarterback, perfect
- 12:36Speaker 1: segue here for you. So that's uh, we got to
- 12:39Speaker 1: go back to like prolonged success. Eli Manning the only
- 12:42Speaker 1: one what in the last thirty years.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Nobody's been able to play?
- 12:47Speaker 3: Put him in the Hall of Fame.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know, that's a yeah, it's a good question.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I don't know. Man, It's like, it's do you do
- 12:57Speaker 1: you haven't looked at Kirk cousins contract. You're gonna try
- 13:00Speaker 1: and squeeze a couple of years out of him and
- 13:02Speaker 1: they can move on with panics. I don't know. I mean,
- 13:04Speaker 1: that's I have.
- 13:05Speaker 5: So many questions about the New York Jets because it's
- 13:07Speaker 5: not only the quarterback, right, we're talking about reclamation projects.
- 13:11Speaker 5: We have seen defensive coach, offensive coaching, antimies, defensive coach
- 13:15Speaker 5: and Robert Sala.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Like, what what works in New York?
- 13:20Speaker 4: Like, I don't know what.
- 13:20Speaker 5: Works in New York because I don't have I don't
- 13:24Speaker 5: have any blueprint to show me what exactly succeeds for
- 13:28Speaker 5: the New York Jets. There's not a blueprint that shows
- 13:31Speaker 5: long term success outside of Bill Parcells, like what works
- 13:35Speaker 5: if Bill Belichick can't go there? No, so what works
- 13:44Speaker 5: in New York? I have no idea what could work
- 13:47Speaker 5: in that city and that for that franchise.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I could almost argue to me the hire of the
- 13:55Speaker 1: offensive line coach and the offensive coordinator or maybe as
- 14:00Speaker 1: important as whatever they decide to do with the head coach.
- 14:04Speaker 1: But they need to invest. We talk about investing in
- 14:06Speaker 1: the offensive line. Go spend whatever you got to spend it.
- 14:08Speaker 1: The good thing is, here's the bad news and the
- 14:10Speaker 1: good news for Jets fans, and then we'll move on.
- 14:13Speaker 1: The bad news is they have a glaring needed quarterback
- 14:16Speaker 1: and it doesn't look like a great quarterback class. That's
- 14:19Speaker 1: the bad news. The good news is, if you're going
- 14:21Speaker 1: to make a change at head coach, you want to
- 14:24Speaker 1: do it in a year where there's a lot of
- 14:26Speaker 1: openings because what that does is that creates the pool
- 14:29Speaker 1: of assistance that's much larger and you have a chance
- 14:31Speaker 1: to build a better staff provided you can get it
- 14:34Speaker 1: done early and provided you're willing to write checks to
- 14:37Speaker 1: go get the best offensive line coach, defensive line coach,
- 14:40Speaker 1: secondary coach. These are important. These are important roles, and
- 14:43Speaker 1: you need to go top of the market and build
- 14:45Speaker 1: the best staff that you possibly can. And we're looking
- 14:47Speaker 1: at a year where Buck we're talking about seven to
- 14:49Speaker 1: nine potential head coach changes, So there's going to be
- 14:52Speaker 1: a lot of assistance in the pool.
- 14:54Speaker 5: A lot of assistants in the pool, and a lot
- 14:56Speaker 5: of good hit coaching candidates. Like it's funny because I'm
- 14:58Speaker 5: sitting here in my mind.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Like Mike Grape, We'll go to New York, Mike Frape,
- 15:03Speaker 1: We'll go to New York and try to fix.
- 15:04Speaker 3: New York brand could work in New York.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Like what do you go to because he's one of
- 15:08Speaker 4: the best coaches that we've seen, we've seen him do.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Well. I was going to mention another team, but they
- 15:14Speaker 1: haven't made a change yet at their head coach, so
- 15:17Speaker 1: I should probably not do that. But there's, uh, there's
- 15:20Speaker 1: gonna be other options, I think for Mike Rabel. When
- 15:22Speaker 1: it's alted and done, yeah for sure, for sure, So
- 15:26Speaker 1: that'll that'll be uh, that'll be interesting. Get yeah again, Jets,
- 15:31Speaker 1: there are The good news is whoever comes in there,
- 15:32Speaker 1: you don't have the quarterback. But the good news is
- 15:34Speaker 1: there are a lot of talented pieces there, a lot
- 15:36Speaker 1: more so, uh than there were four or five years ago.
- 15:40Speaker 1: So they've got some some guys to build around. Gosh,
- 15:42Speaker 1: you got to find the quarterback. Speaking of quarterbacks, U
- 15:45Speaker 1: RTT lead us off on this one. Uh, I mean
- 15:47Speaker 1: surprise level on a scale one to ten, maybe a two.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Uh maybe that uh that Daniel Jones is going to
- 15:54Speaker 1: uh he's going to go to the sidelines. I think
- 15:55Speaker 1: maybe the bigger surprises who's going to replace him?
- 15:57Speaker 3: Yeah, it's Tommy DeVito and not Drew Lock.
- 16:00Speaker 2: The murmurs and the whispers that maybe it's maybe Drew
- 16:02Speaker 2: Locke could have a shot to start this season for
- 16:04Speaker 2: the Giants. We talked I always find exactly Uh, so
- 16:08Speaker 2: that that part is a little is a little surprising
- 16:11Speaker 2: to me. But you know, we're just trying to recapture
- 16:14Speaker 2: the you know that Tommy Cutlet magic, Uh, Tommy, Tommy
- 16:18Speaker 2: DeVito and get that thing going to generate a little
- 16:20Speaker 2: life for yourself. I get all that. I mean, it's
- 16:22Speaker 2: clear you know what's going on. You know, with the
- 16:25Speaker 2: financial commitment for injury that the Giants have with with
- 16:28Speaker 2: Daniel Jones, who is.
- 16:30Speaker 1: On football, I find that hard to play.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I mean, look, the football hasn't worked either, So yeah,
- 16:40Speaker 2: behind that all you want. But this, I guess is
- 16:42Speaker 2: just a happy accident then that they're gonna be off
- 16:44Speaker 2: the hook for the twenty three million that would have
- 16:46Speaker 2: been guaranteed if Daniel Jones got injured this year. So look,
- 16:51Speaker 2: I no surprise. I think based off the way things
- 16:54Speaker 2: have gone. The surprise is how bad it's gone after
- 16:57Speaker 2: year one. To me, like that's where the big surprises
- 17:00Speaker 2: of their problem won a playoff game. They felt like
- 17:02Speaker 2: they had a formula right. The offensive line has never
- 17:06Speaker 2: been right, it just has. It has not been right
- 17:09Speaker 2: since they were winning Super Bowls, since our buddy Sean
- 17:12Speaker 2: o'haall was there. Like that's what it felt like to
- 17:14Speaker 2: me with New York and I still I still don't
- 17:19Speaker 2: know that Daniel Jones was put in a position to
- 17:22Speaker 2: truly succeed there on a consistent basis. I think you
- 17:26Speaker 2: go back to the a cl injury after the really
- 17:28Speaker 2: the career years as part of you know things weren't
- 17:31Speaker 2: going well before that injury, obviously, but I just.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Did it work. Could it work somewhere else? Could?
- 17:37Speaker 2: I think the biggest question for me moving forward is
- 17:39Speaker 2: could Daniel Jones see a resurgence somewhere else? Like we've
- 17:43Speaker 2: seen some of the again Sam Darnold type quarterbacks that
- 17:47Speaker 2: have found success elsewhere with better play callers, better situations.
- 17:52Speaker 3: But right now it's clearly not New York.
- 17:54Speaker 5: Now it's not in New York, and I think there
- 17:55Speaker 5: has to be a belief that in terms of your
- 17:58Speaker 5: coach has to believe that you can get it. We
- 18:00Speaker 5: saw it the first year that Brian dave Ball got there.
- 18:02Speaker 5: They put Daniel Jones in a situation where they could
- 18:04Speaker 5: do it. I think the Jet the Giants' biggest issue
- 18:08Speaker 5: is understanding the kind of team that he needed around him.
- 18:11Speaker 5: Daniel Jones needed a Marquie running back, like I say,
- 18:13Speaker 5: Kawon Barkley to be able to do it. They gambled
- 18:16Speaker 5: and taking Devin Singletary over Sakuon Barkley, and it hasn't
- 18:20Speaker 5: necessarily worked.
- 18:20Speaker 4: They also have not been able to build the dominant
- 18:23Speaker 4: offensive line that would help them be able to run
- 18:25Speaker 4: the ball.
- 18:26Speaker 5: So Daniel Jones could play within his comfort zone, running
- 18:29Speaker 5: play action RPOs and all those things. To me, it's
- 18:32Speaker 5: not just a Daniel Jones problem. I would say it
- 18:35Speaker 5: is a construction problem in terms of how the team
- 18:38Speaker 5: is built. We can swap out the quarterback and put
- 18:40Speaker 5: Tommy Cutlers and other guys in draft one, but they
- 18:43Speaker 5: are not going to be a consistent winner until they
- 18:47Speaker 5: build the rest of the team right. And the team
- 18:49Speaker 5: is not constructed right to help a young quarterback or
- 18:51Speaker 5: any quarterbacks to see.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean we talked about it in a previous episode.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I'm interested to see where Daniel Jones goes and I
- 18:59Speaker 1: don't think that that final chapter has been written yet
- 19:02Speaker 1: for him. And maybe we're being optimistic, but I'm hopeful
- 19:06Speaker 1: that he's going to get to the right place and
- 19:08Speaker 1: maybe there's more there than what we've seen.
- 19:10Speaker 4: So uh.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Anyways, it's a little turmoil there in New York. I
- 19:14Speaker 1: guess we could say with the changes that have taken
- 19:16Speaker 1: place this week for both the Jets and the Giants.
- 19:19Speaker 1: That's a wrap for the lead block presented by Team
- 19:22Speaker 1: Mobile for business. Football needs a network willing to go
- 19:24Speaker 1: the extra yard, So do you go further? With Team
- 19:27Speaker 1: mobile for business. Let's say quick break, we come back,
- 19:29Speaker 1: we will get into the rookie draft out Almighty Rhet
- 19:32Speaker 1: Lewis is on fire. We'll get into that right after this.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Buck.
- 19:40Speaker 1: We've got to stop this. I mean, we've got what
- 19:45Speaker 1: are we doing.
- 19:45Speaker 5: The guys over here like he smug, he has the
- 19:50Speaker 5: look man, he has all this confidence.
- 19:52Speaker 4: He kind of feels like he has it wrapped up.
- 19:54Speaker 5: Maybe we've finished, but maybe the playoff edition to give
- 19:56Speaker 5: us an opportunity.
- 19:57Speaker 4: We're not going to able to pull that into regular season.
- 19:59Speaker 4: But yeah, this isn't hasn't been great.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Man live, that's got it. We got to change it.
- 20:04Speaker 1: We got to I'm changing up my draft philosophy today.
- 20:07Speaker 1: This is this is a situation we find ourselves in
- 20:10Speaker 1: where Rhet is sitting at fifty two points. I'm at
- 20:13Speaker 1: forty two. That's a huge lead. Bucks just behind me
- 20:17Speaker 1: at thirty eight. But yeah, we've got we've got to
- 20:20Speaker 1: fix it. And oh guess what. Guess who has the
- 20:23Speaker 1: first pick today? Mister Lucky himself RHTT is up first.
- 20:27Speaker 1: I'm second, Bucky, you get the you get the turn
- 20:29Speaker 1: there with picks three and four. HTT start us off here.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel good about where I'm at. Man, I
- 20:36Speaker 2: actually thought I was going to have a chance late
- 20:37Speaker 2: to make my my bon Nix Devon Vley stack even
- 20:42Speaker 2: at further points. Veyle didn't quite get it done, but
- 20:44Speaker 2: was close. But it has been fun to watch. By
- 20:47Speaker 2: the way, it is the rookie white out there.
- 20:49Speaker 3: So this is yeah, this is what we've got this year.
- 20:51Speaker 2: This week, We've got our choice to the quarterbacks, right,
- 20:55Speaker 2: we could, we could really get after it here with
- 20:56Speaker 2: these guys.
- 20:57Speaker 3: I mean, I am.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Mm hmm, it's I mean, it's actually it's actually a
- 21:04Speaker 2: tougher one.
- 21:04Speaker 4: I mean, you at the top of the board. What
- 21:06Speaker 4: are we doing. We're doing like the NFL draft, like
- 21:09Speaker 4: for drama.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I mean, we're just gonna We're gonna try to get
- 21:11Speaker 2: you some drama here with this thing. Give drink a
- 21:14Speaker 2: little bit, and you know, we've got Marvin Harrison back
- 21:16Speaker 2: into the mix.
- 21:17Speaker 3: He's not gonna be the number one pick the quarterbacks though.
- 21:19Speaker 2: It's it's interesting because you got a favorable matchup for
- 21:22Speaker 2: Jayden and Daniels. Bo Nix is my guy now, so
- 21:26Speaker 2: bo Bo, I feel like I'm probably leaning towards number
- 21:30Speaker 2: one overall. I feel like I'm probably gonna do it,
- 21:36Speaker 2: but I'm not doing good. I'm not I'm gonna take
- 21:39Speaker 2: Brock Powers because I'm gonna go Brock Bowers's he's been
- 21:44Speaker 2: that good.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Yeah, so we're going Brock.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I love Rock Bowers, but i'm gonna I'm not gonna
- 21:49Speaker 1: waste any time. I'm gonna turn in the car for
- 21:51Speaker 1: Jad and Daniels against the cowboys who may or may
- 21:53Speaker 1: not have quit on at this point in time. I'm
- 21:56Speaker 1: gonna go Jadan Daniels, Buck, You're up three and four.
- 22:00Speaker 4: I feel like he's being so arrogant with all of this, Like.
- 22:03Speaker 5: Just I'm gonna take a number one tight end, number
- 22:06Speaker 5: one overall. Okay, so I'm gonna take one of your guys.
- 22:09Speaker 5: I'm gonna take lab McConkey.
- 22:11Speaker 1: No, no, no, I was gonna take You're not allowed
- 22:15Speaker 1: to take him.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Come on, I gotta get back to bed.
- 22:17Speaker 5: So I'm gonna take labmc cock and I'm gonna take
- 22:19Speaker 5: Marvin Harrison Junior back to back those my two guys. Okay, Oh,
- 22:25Speaker 5: I'm gonna go uh uh Saucy Nugget.
- 22:29Speaker 4: I'm not.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I'm just trying to think of a you know who,
- 22:33Speaker 1: you know what sounds like a great uh country singer
- 22:37Speaker 1: Tommy Neighbors. That sounds like the name of a great country.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Things kind of sound a little bit like that.
- 22:43Speaker 1: And I want to I want to enjoy Thanksgiving. I
- 22:45Speaker 1: want to have a little skin in the game here
- 22:47Speaker 1: on Thanksgiving. So give me Molak Neighbors with my pick.
- 22:52Speaker 3: What you know, thanks hittinges next week? Right?
- 22:55Speaker 1: Oh crap, are we not in Thanksgiving?
- 22:57Speaker 3: No?
- 22:57Speaker 4: No, Sweet twelve.
- 23:03Speaker 1: I'm getting ready as Suli finishes to put up the
- 23:05Speaker 1: Christmas decorations. How is this not Thanksgiving?
- 23:08Speaker 3: It's okay, but you know they've got who are they playing?
- 23:12Speaker 3: Who are the ways? Who are giants?
- 23:14Speaker 1: Thought we had giants cowboys? That's why I'm really excited
- 23:17Speaker 1: about that. Yeah, oh man, that that's a bummer, not
- 23:22Speaker 1: only because I was starting to crave some turkey, but yeah,
- 23:26Speaker 1: a lot of more favorable matchups for me. That's fine,
- 23:31Speaker 1: that's fine. I'm gonna go with Jay and Daniels and Neighbors.
- 23:33Speaker 1: That's who I've got right there, right, you gotta go Neighbors.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Opponents be darned.
- 23:37Speaker 3: To give me bon Nicks. He's gonna be my quarterback
- 23:40Speaker 3: once again.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I get him. I was gonna take him at one,
- 23:42Speaker 2: I get him at I get him at six. What
- 23:44Speaker 2: a bargain, like, What an absolute bargain against this Raiders
- 23:47Speaker 2: team here. So I've got a lot of skin in
- 23:49Speaker 2: that game, Nicks and Bowers, and I'm actually considering going
- 23:53Speaker 2: with my stack again with as as being my next pick,
- 23:57Speaker 2: but instead I'm gonna go with Bucky Irving. Bucky Irving's back,
- 24:03Speaker 2: and Bucky Irving is going to be my selection at
- 24:05Speaker 2: number seven here to close.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Out my draft. Okay, all right, so I'm up my next.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Here eight and then Bucky runs it out, so.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Did mar Yeah, Bucky already took Marvin right.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Main team, same team.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna go coming off of a I'm gonna go
- 24:26Speaker 1: coming off of a nice week with a couple of
- 24:28Speaker 1: clutch catches. Oh wait, Bears, Wait the Bears. Are the
- 24:34Speaker 1: Bears are playing this week? I'm I'm gonna take a
- 24:38Speaker 1: Dunes today. Mm hmm.
- 24:42Speaker 3: It's been a better choice.
- 24:43Speaker 2: It's been a better I mean, it's been a more
- 24:45Speaker 2: favorable choice here as of late.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Yeh, So I've got Buck. You've got your last pick, right.
- 24:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I got my last pick. And this is tough
- 24:53Speaker 4: for me because normally you would.
- 24:54Speaker 5: Take the number one overall situation Caleb Williams. But I'm
- 24:57Speaker 5: not I'm going to lean on a target with the
- 25:00Speaker 5: me back and I'm.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Oh wow gets the oh yeah Dolphins.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, So it's really not Thanksgiving this week. Skin
- 25:11Speaker 1: in the game on thanks I was looking forward to
- 25:14Speaker 1: just sitting down and watching.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Well, the best part about that whole conversation, DJ, is
- 25:18Speaker 2: that your your rationale for the Jayden Daniels pick was
- 25:21Speaker 2: that he was going up against the Cowboys, and then
- 25:23Speaker 2: somewhere in between your first pick.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I had to make my picks.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I had to make my picks. So I was looking
- 25:31Speaker 1: at my uh where I was looking at the games,
- 25:36Speaker 1: and so I had it there. But then I just
- 25:38Speaker 1: wanted it to be Thanksgiving so bad I feel. And
- 25:40Speaker 1: I remember I was talking to somebody on the phone
- 25:42Speaker 1: yesterday and they were just saying how terrible the Thanksgiving
- 25:45Speaker 1: games are this year because of how bad some of
- 25:48Speaker 1: these matchups are. But nonetheless, well that'll wait a week. So, uh,
- 25:52Speaker 1: that's it, right, We've got Bucky's got Drake May, Marvin Harrison,
- 25:56Speaker 1: Lat macconkae. I like your team, Buck. I think you're
- 25:58Speaker 1: going to make some moves reck back with Bowers Nicks
- 26:02Speaker 1: and who's your other onet Irving?
- 26:05Speaker 3: Bucky Irving, Oh yeah, Bucky.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Irving, Yep, yep. And then I've got Jade and Daniels.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I don't know who he's playing. I've got a goomsay,
- 26:13Speaker 1: no clue, and I've got neighbors hopefully still on the team.
- 26:18Speaker 1: No wonder. I'm not beating rhet Get focus, man, that
- 26:23Speaker 1: is terrible. All right, that's uh, that's gonna do it
- 26:26Speaker 1: for us today. Anything else you guys want to get
- 26:27Speaker 1: into before we get out of here.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Got to win this week now.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I'll tell you what hurts my heart is the fact
- 26:35Speaker 1: that you know, I think we're all friends here, but nope,
- 26:38Speaker 1: Bucky's blocking Reht this week, not even gonna accept his
- 26:40Speaker 1: calls or text.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Down go the bucks, down the eyes, folks.
- 26:45Speaker 1: I love that all.
- 26:48Speaker 5: I can just see it happening. I can see my friction.
- 26:52Speaker 3: I won't be able to see it.
- 26:53Speaker 2: I'll be watching Caleb Johnson try to run rough shot
- 26:56Speaker 2: over the Maryland Turpins.
- 26:59Speaker 4: Let's go, let's go turps, all.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Right, some crabs there?
- 27:03Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, that's gonna do it for I appreciate
- 27:05Speaker 1: you guys hanging with us We will see you next time.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Right here on move the sticks.
- 27:13Speaker 5: Hm hm
- 27:21Speaker 4: Hm hm
