Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Today seems to be a day for mentioning apologies. There
- 0:04Speaker 1: have been a couple of those out there. Here's another one.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Do your belt what Brian Branch of the Lions did. No,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Brian Branch. The Lions played the Packers on Sunday and
- 0:18Speaker 1: one by ten and just kind of we're in control
- 0:21Speaker 1: of it virtually the entire game. My son was out
- 0:25Speaker 1: there and his girlfriend and they were He wore a
- 0:27Speaker 1: cheese head and everything just to kind of, you know,
- 0:30Speaker 1: went in Rome type thing. The pouring rain during that
- 0:34Speaker 1: game looked miserable, but they said they had a good time.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I'm sure they did.
- 0:38Speaker 2: So.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Brian Branch got ejected during the game, and it was
- 0:46Speaker 1: in the second quarter. The Lions were up seven to three.
- 0:49Speaker 1: He got ejected for a late hit on bow melting
- 0:51Speaker 1: of the Packers. So he starts walking off, and of
- 0:54Speaker 1: course the fans.
- 0:54Speaker 2: And Green Bay all over them. Huh So what do
- 0:56Speaker 2: you do?
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yeah, the weird number one gave him the one fingered salute, okay,
- 1:02Speaker 1: and that drew another flag for fifteen more yards. Apparently
- 1:06Speaker 1: he did double. Oh the Tom Herman double bird. Yepkay, yep,
- 1:10Speaker 1: he went double. And he apologized today for going double
- 1:14Speaker 1: Oh he did it on the field. Yeah, when he's
- 1:16Speaker 1: starting to walk off and there and everybody's getting.
- 1:18Speaker 3: So it wasn't like using the tunnel, like he's direct,
- 1:20Speaker 3: he's on the like he has his teammates next to
- 1:22Speaker 3: him on the field. Well, what are we doing here?
- 1:24Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, making a mistake is what we were doing.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Yeah, not thinking And.
- 1:31Speaker 1: He realized it afterwards. He apologized, said he agreed with
- 1:34Speaker 1: the officials call. Also quote That's not something I wanted
- 1:38Speaker 1: to show or want people to notice me as that.
- 1:41Speaker 2: That was just the heat of the moment for me.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And I apologize to everyone who's seen that, and that
- 1:45Speaker 1: won't happen again.
- 1:47Speaker 3: You can buy a t shirts of the Double Bird
- 1:49Speaker 3: if you want, Craig, can you?
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:51Speaker 1: Uh?
- 1:52Speaker 3: Like, do we have to apologize for everything?
- 1:54Speaker 2: Like?
- 1:55Speaker 3: I think what? I think it would be better if
- 1:56Speaker 3: he was like, no apology. I hate green Man fans.
- 2:00Speaker 3: I apologize for the hit, but I don't apologize for
- 2:02Speaker 3: Double Bird. Like, let's come on, let's be honest.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I apologize for nothing. Yeah. I have a feeling that
- 2:08Speaker 1: was instructed of him to do Oh for sure, yeap,
- 2:11Speaker 1: he was instructed to do it. I'm sure ESPN's sex
- 2:13Speaker 1: were all over the roll over Jason Kelsey to apologize. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 1: he agreed also with the call I got him kicked
- 2:22Speaker 1: out of the game, he said, I most definitely agree
- 2:24Speaker 1: with the call. My target was obviously high, but that
- 2:27Speaker 1: was never my intention to aim for the head. Moving forward,
- 2:30Speaker 1: I do have to move my target down, so anyway,
- 2:36Speaker 1: there and Jameson Williams got back from his two game
- 2:40Speaker 1: suspension for that substance abuse policy thing, substance performance enhancing policy.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Excuse me, I apologize.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Dan Campbell said they weren't going to waste any time
- 2:52Speaker 1: getting him back involved with with the teams that would
- 2:54Speaker 1: work out really well. Lines are seven and one. It's
- 2:56Speaker 1: the best start since nineteen fifty six. You think they
- 3:00Speaker 1: win in the Central.
- 3:02Speaker 3: I think so. I think they are the best team
- 3:04Speaker 3: in the NFC right now. And if I were a
- 3:07Speaker 3: betting man, I would think it would be Chiefs Lines
- 3:10Speaker 3: right now. I really do. I mean, I think this
- 3:12Speaker 3: is a completely different Detroit team. I mean, even with
- 3:15Speaker 3: goff did in the elements in Lambeau. I mean, he's played,
- 3:19Speaker 3: he is I think the MVP of the league right
- 3:21Speaker 3: now at this point. He's playing perfect football. He's executing
- 3:25Speaker 3: the offense, and even the spite Agen Hutchinson being out
- 3:29Speaker 3: for the season, Detroit still has a very nasty defense.
- 3:33Speaker 3: They're getting their playmakers back. I mean, the tandem of
- 3:35Speaker 3: Jamira Gibbs and David Montgomery is so tough to stop.
- 3:39Speaker 3: If Laporta can stay healthy, if the offensive line can
- 3:42Speaker 3: stay healthy, this is that I think the team to
- 3:44Speaker 3: beat in January on the NFC SAW so you'd say
- 3:48Speaker 3: they're on a roll. Six in a row. I believe
- 3:51Speaker 3: they have the highest point differential in the league. They
- 3:54Speaker 3: do it one hundred and ten. They're the only team
- 3:56Speaker 3: over one hundred points. The second highest whole team in
- 4:00Speaker 3: point differential is the Commanders at seventy four, So, you know,
- 4:04Speaker 3: thirty six points more than the next team, which tells
- 4:07Speaker 3: you they're pretty good for any games.
- 4:09Speaker 2: You know who else is in a row? The Rams, Well, yeah,
- 4:13Speaker 2: we'll see.
- 4:14Speaker 1: If that continues on Monday night when they play the
- 4:15Speaker 1: Dolphins out in LA.
- 4:18Speaker 3: I was gonna say the Carolina Panthers in a row.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:22Speaker 1: One, they've won one game, they won one, they beat
- 4:25Speaker 1: the Saints. Uh and, and I'll tell you it's on
- 4:27Speaker 1: a row. Bryce Young, he's going to get to start again.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Good for him to start against the Giants when they
- 4:32Speaker 1: play in Munich Sunday morning. Are you sitting your alarm
- 4:36Speaker 1: for this cam Panthers Giants eight thirty am, Texas time?
- 4:42Speaker 2: Are you getting up to watch that one?
- 4:43Speaker 3: I do not think I will be? Okay, do not
- 4:46Speaker 3: think I will be. Do you think the Germans are
- 4:48Speaker 3: going to really enjoy Bryce Young first, Danny Diamonds?
- 4:52Speaker 2: I mean, could they?
- 4:53Speaker 3: Can we give the game you give?
- 4:56Speaker 1: You and I both know that in these European especially
- 5:01Speaker 1: ones in England, but even in Germany as well when
- 5:04Speaker 1: they played over there that I'm gonna give you a
- 5:09Speaker 1: conservative estimate, sixty five maybe seventy percent of the fans
- 5:15Speaker 1: are Americans, whether they live over there or went over
- 5:20Speaker 1: for the trip or what. When you see them, there's
- 5:23Speaker 1: a lot of Americans who make that. Now, for this
- 5:26Speaker 1: particular game, maybe not so much. Yeah, but if the
- 5:30Speaker 1: Eagles are over there, or the Vikings are over there
- 5:33Speaker 1: or the Packers, you know there's gonna be a lot
- 5:36Speaker 1: of their a lot of their fans there.
- 5:39Speaker 3: For this game.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Jonathan Brooks, sexist running back, Yeah, has been activated off
- 5:44Speaker 3: the IR He's on the fifty three men roster. How
- 5:47Speaker 3: many NFL players can say they made their NFL debut
- 5:51Speaker 3: in Germany.
- 5:52Speaker 1: It's a good question. So hopefully he gets the chance
- 5:56Speaker 1: to do that. I hope so too. Patrick Mahomes today
- 6:01Speaker 1: said he thinks his ankle is gonna be all right.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Eager to test it. Said, when you have a little
- 6:07Speaker 1: bit of a role, it's a little bit sore, but
- 6:09Speaker 1: I'm able to move around and look forward to getting
- 6:12Speaker 1: out to practice and seeing how much I can push it.
- 6:14Speaker 1: As the week goes on and Andy reaches, They're not
- 6:17Speaker 1: going to limit him. We're gonna have him do what
- 6:18Speaker 1: he normally.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Does, just to see how he does it.
- 6:23Speaker 1: One other quarterback note, the Browns are kind of going.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Yeah about the Shawn Watson.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Andrew Berry is our general manager.
- 6:39Speaker 1: His reaction and response about the future and current standing
- 6:45Speaker 1: of Deshaun Watson with the Browns franchise was.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Non committal. Quote.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Really our focus with Shawn. I would say for any
- 6:59Speaker 1: player the season ending injury in a major and remember
- 7:02Speaker 1: he had the right achilles tendant here, his first and
- 7:05Speaker 1: foremost to make sure he gets healthy from the achilles injury.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Everything else will deal with at a later moment. You know,
- 7:12Speaker 1: it should be pointed out that before the injury, watching
- 7:16Speaker 1: at the lowest total QBR of any qualified passer in
- 7:19Speaker 1: the NFL.
- 7:21Speaker 2: They were one in five and his six starts.
- 7:24Speaker 1: So this is a guy they gave a lot of
- 7:28Speaker 1: money too, and gave up to get things to get him.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Forty six million dollars each of the next two seasons.
- 7:35Speaker 3: He had cap pits of seventy two point nine million
- 7:37Speaker 3: dollars in twenty five in twenty six. If they were
- 7:41Speaker 3: the part ways with him at the end of this season,
- 7:43Speaker 3: Cleveland would take on a dead cap pit of one
- 7:45Speaker 3: hundred and seventy two million dollars total ninety nine in
- 7:50Speaker 3: twenty five and in twenty six. It will go down
- 7:54Speaker 3: as the worst trade in NFL history. It might be
- 7:57Speaker 3: up there as the worst trade in all the professional
- 7:59Speaker 3: sports because I don't I don't see how Watson can
- 8:02Speaker 3: come back. I mean he he was already obviously the
- 8:05Speaker 3: same player after that shoulder injury and achilles.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that could be. That could be bad. Dead cap
- 8:12Speaker 2: money of one hundred million.
- 8:13Speaker 3: One hundred and seventy two.
- 8:14Speaker 1: You're talking Dallas Cowboys dead cap money, and you're doing that,
- 8:18Speaker 1: you know, because the Cowboys have had a lot of
- 8:20Speaker 1: dead cap hits over the years, kind of taking it
- 8:24Speaker 1: from there, all right, We'll be back to wrap up
- 8:26Speaker 1: Hour number two here on Sports Medio AM thirteen under
- 8:28Speaker 1: the Zone.
