- 0:36Welcome back to Rick and Elaine discuss the Bible
- 0:38and in particular the book of Job. Good afternoon,
- 0:42Elaine Rae Clark. How are you? I'm fine very
- 0:44much. I'm fine. Thank you very much. Yeah, I
- 0:48think we'll have to find a different way of introducing
- 0:49ourselves. I just have to say, you all right,
- 0:52Rick? Hey, how you doing, mate? Here's what we
- 0:55do over here. We'll say, how y 'all doing? How
- 0:58y 'all doing? How y 'all doing? It's like, how
- 1:01you doing? Yeah, no, no, Joey, Joey from print.
- 1:05How you doing? How you doing? So I'm gonna have
- 1:08to go with, how you doing? Exactly. No, I'm fine
- 1:11here. Yeah, it's a bit hazy today, but the sun's
- 1:14out. It's nice and warm. So yeah, raring to go.
- 1:18Loving Chapter 25 and can't wait to see what's
- 1:22brought out where the Lord will lead us. Ready
- 1:24and cracking to go, they say. Ready or not, here
- 1:27I come. You can't hide. Yes, great. Alright,
- 1:31so let's see here. Let me find these comments.
- 1:34So we got a couple of comments which I sent to
- 1:36you and you read them. Lovely long comments.
- 1:40I mean, I would have been sort of like tired
- 1:41halfway through. Well, it's all the way they
- 1:45can comment, right? It shows you that their eyes
- 1:50must be perfect or something because I send voice
- 1:53notes. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. Well, and
- 1:56I'll say this to those who leave comments. If
- 1:58I don't respond to you on Patreon, it's usually
- 2:00because we're going to respond here, but also
- 2:02because my time has been limited as well. And
- 2:05so when I actually do get some time, I sit down,
- 2:08I have dinner with my wife and then it's off
- 2:10to bed because we got another day the next day.
- 2:13you're so blind to the ridiculous because I've
- 2:15got reams of it and you haven't hardly got any.
- 2:17Yeah, very, very little, very little. All right.
- 2:21This comes from Dina Thompson. Dina. Dina. Yes.
- 2:29Another great time of learning and searching
- 2:30with my brother and sister. This one had my head
- 2:34going all over the place and the word. Yeah,
- 2:36I know that feeling. Doesn't it just, it goes,
- 2:38it's like a little fire effect. It's like you
- 2:41pick out scriptures and you can see it. Yeah.
- 2:44When talking about how the wicked just take and
- 2:47take, all I could think about was, but Jeshurun
- 2:50grew fat and kicked. So I went and looked it
- 2:54up and read the whole verse and it finishes with,
- 2:57then he forsook God who made him and scorned
- 3:00the rock of his salvation. Yeah. Yeah. And this
- 3:03is still relevant to what we see in life today.
- 3:06Yes, it is. Oh, but then Jesus, my King, He addresses
- 3:11the oppression with the beatitudes, with His
- 3:17rebuke to the church leaders or the synagogue
- 3:20leaders or the temple leaders of the time, with
- 3:23His instruction to follow Him. And the whole
- 3:26time we're reading Job's response, I hear Jesus.
- 3:30Absolutely. Absolutely. Sorry, I hear Jesus.
- 3:39I hear him say blessed are you when they mock
- 3:42you for my namesake I will never leave you or
- 3:45forsake you. I just hear him and cannot thank
- 3:47him enough. Yes. Amen Thank you both and I have
- 3:51much love for you my brother and sister and Elaine
- 3:53One could never tire of hearing your beautiful
- 3:56voice read on sister. Oh bless your little heart
- 4:00Well, I read that to my husband and he chuckled
- 4:02and said she must be tone deaf he can't shut
- 4:09me up so well you also told your husband what
- 4:11i said that the cheese is slid off your cracker
- 4:13and he agreed but then he threatened to wit me
- 4:16he did i said i'm gonna punch his lights out
- 4:19but uh no he's probably right actually i am a
- 4:22little bit like sam is short of a picnic um but
- 4:24that's okay yeah yeah if nobody knows what that's
- 4:28about me rick that was from our other study on
- 4:30matthew chapter 27 where we were talking about
- 4:33that Yeah, it works for me. Yeah. So here we
- 4:36go. Here it comes from Alan Thompson. Hey, Alan.
- 4:39Hi, Alan. Rick, thanks for the follow up response
- 4:42you posted last week concerning the sound of
- 4:44the Psalms on Job's lips. It was a fantastic
- 4:48piece and much appreciated. Well, thank you.
- 4:51I feel like I didn't do it justice. There was
- 4:53a whole lot more to it. We just did the best
- 4:54we could. We did. But then again, see, I mean,
- 4:58you could spend hours and hours and hours and
- 5:00hours just on one verse. Yeah, and that's why
- 5:03I welcome the comments. I don't mind to change
- 5:06directions if we have some thoughts, because
- 5:08let's do it. I mean, that's what this is for.
- 5:10That's why we're doing this. I mean, we ask the
- 5:12Holy Spirit to lead us, and if we get just one
- 5:14or two verses done, but it takes us off down
- 5:16a maze of beauty, what's the problem? Mm -hmm.
- 5:20That's right, yeah. Rick and Elaine, thanks for
- 5:21talking through it on the episode today, because
- 5:23I found the discussion even more helpful and
- 5:25fascinating. Bless. As you both were talking,
- 5:28yes, thank you, Alan. As you both were talking
- 5:30through it, John 21, 25 came to mind where John
- 5:33says basically that the world couldn't hold all
- 5:36the books that could be written to document all
- 5:38the works of Jesus. No. Isn't that amazing? No.
- 5:42Think of all the books that have already been
- 5:44done and they don't hold a candle, right? I mean,
- 5:46you imagine being there and just seeing him,
- 5:48you know, when he says the crowd were amazed
- 5:50at his teaching. I mean, you just look at him
- 5:53thinking. I've never seen or heard anybody like
- 5:56you and you would a bit like them in the boat
- 5:58when he said, you know, be muzzled, you know,
- 6:01and they said, what kind, you know, they forgot
- 6:03the storm in the wave. It was like, what kind
- 6:05of man is this? Yeah. What manner of man? I like
- 6:07that in KGB. What manner of man is this? Yeah.
- 6:11That's amazing. So true. He says, I applied that
- 6:17thought to this discussion and agreed that they
- 6:19knew a lot more than we have a record of. The
- 6:22beautiful thing about it to me is that all the
- 6:24human authors of the old testament have the same
- 6:27author On their minds and in their pens to write
- 6:30a unified account of god's work of redemption
- 6:32This episode was a gold mine as usual and the
- 6:37idea of this book being how to be a priest Is
- 6:40pure genius and challenging since we are a kingdom
- 6:43of priests. Absolutely Dina and I love you both
- 6:46and thank god for the excellent work. You both
- 6:48are doing and we love you guys both. Absolutely
- 6:51And not to overly clarify, but I said how to
- 6:54become a high priest. And I wanted to make that
- 6:56clear. Yes, it is a priest, but I'm looking at
- 6:59it from the high priest perspective, something
- 7:02that Christ will embody and become in both physical
- 7:06and spiritual. He will embody the high priest.
- 7:09And as we know, he was treated worse than Job.
- 7:13He was treated far worse. And so. And how Jesus
- 7:17responds to that and then what he does and accomplishes
- 7:19in his resurrection and ascension as well as
- 7:22his parousia. High priest of all high priests,
- 7:27forever, the order of Melchizedek. And that's
- 7:31the thing, isn't it? You know, the high priest
- 7:32was only ever replaced when he died. But as Christ
- 7:35lives, always he's always there to intercede,
- 7:39never to replace, never to be replaced. No, no,
- 7:41no, just going to. Yeah, yeah, I must just it
- 7:45got itchy foot. There was a bit of a mosquito
- 7:48on my leg. Oh, okay good I thought you're gonna
- 7:50say you popped your clogs, but that's not what
- 7:52that is. That's death Oh, no, no clog popping
- 7:54going on this day. That's awesome All right.
- 7:58My hat today is brought to you by the Greenville
- 8:00Drive. I had a really dear friend of mine Take
- 8:03me to a baseball game to get away from the world
- 8:06and just enjoy a relaxing afternoon Yep, it just
- 8:10says drive down. So I'm a Red Sox fan and the
- 8:14Greenville Drive are a feeder organization to
- 8:17the Red Sox They have it's two steps below the
- 8:20majors And so we got to go there and I had some
- 8:24ice cream and a little plastic baseball cap Which
- 8:26I normally don't eat ice cream, but I did enjoyed
- 8:28it. I had a hot dog at the park. It was great
- 8:31I tell you what you're an all -american boy I'm
- 8:33an all -American boy and baseball is America's
- 8:36pastime. And I and I and I appreciated my friends
- 8:39taking me and getting me out of work and out
- 8:41of home and just going out and enjoying a nice
- 8:43evening. It was a beautiful day. The Greenville
- 8:46Drive lost, but I don't follow them. So it's
- 8:48not like I cared. I just enjoyed watching some
- 8:50people play baseball. I think the thing is, it's
- 8:52just getting out there and enjoying life, isn't
- 8:54it? Doesn't matter who wins or loses at the end
- 8:56of the day. It's just enjoying yourself. Honestly,
- 8:58my favorite part. We were sitting so. Fenway
- 9:01Park in Boston has a thing called the Green Monster,
- 9:04and it's this really giant. Is this the Field
- 9:06of Dreams sort of thing, is it? No, no, not at
- 9:10all. Field of Dreams is a Kevin Costner movie.
- 9:12Huh? That was a Red Sox, though, wasn't it? No,
- 9:15it was the White Sox. Oh. Actually, it was the
- 9:19Black Sox, if you think about it, because it's
- 9:21Shoeless Joe Jackson. He was in a scandal with
- 9:24the Chicago White Sox, and they called him the
- 9:26Black Sox. That's how it was. I mean, they'd
- 9:28say to make out. Anyway, they'd be digressing.
- 9:30Anyway, the point is I was saying at Fenway Park,
- 9:32they have a thing called the Green Monster, which
- 9:34is just really high wall that's green and you
- 9:37can sit up there and people, you know, it's just
- 9:40the thing. And here at the Greenville Drive,
- 9:41they have a mini monster. And my friend had gotten
- 9:45a table up there. And so we were sitting and
- 9:47I could look over to the right and there was
- 9:48a section that was covered by nets where children
- 9:51could play in the in the grass and. occasionally
- 9:55a ball player who had a ball that had been hit
- 9:57foul or something would throw it over the nets
- 10:00to the kids and the kids would just swarm and
- 10:02you know and there was this one kid that just
- 10:04trampled on his die yeah there was one kid that
- 10:08had a glove and he would catch the ball and then
- 10:10he would throw it to somebody else the other
- 10:11he was such a good kid Yeah, so it was a lot
- 10:15of fun. I enjoyed that. And it was just nice
- 10:17to get away for a minute. And I that's something
- 10:20that I've also started walking a lot more. And
- 10:23I enjoy that, too. So I'm just trying to find
- 10:24ways to ease the stress. I like walking is a
- 10:28great way to relax. It is. I mean, God didn't
- 10:30put wheels on the bottom of your ankles, did
- 10:32he? You know, it's a good it's good to walk.
- 10:36Yeah, he didn't put feet on my butt either. And
- 10:38so I can't just keep planting my butt in the
- 10:40recliner. I need to get up and get moving. Alright,
- 10:43so let's get into this. Okay. So last week we
- 10:47were in job chapter 24 and I had said that 23
- 10:50and 24 23 especially I focused on it because
- 10:54I wanted to say he's not addressing Eliphaz Uniquely
- 10:57or you know person to person he begins to he
- 11:00doesn't even acknowledge what he had said with
- 11:02those You know wicked false accusations that
- 11:05he had made against him. So You know Joe goes
- 11:08on this point of showing that You know how how
- 11:12wickedness actually works and then in chapter
- 11:1424 I said that he still wasn't just addressing
- 11:17elephaz He's more addressing the group. He all
- 11:20of these arguments are about to come to an end
- 11:22We're in the third cycle of arguments and this
- 11:25is where it's going to close And so we already
- 11:27know that he shut down zofar That happened and
- 11:30he did that verse by verse He shuts down elephaz
- 11:33by not directly dealing with him and going over
- 11:35the entirety of wickedness and what they know
- 11:37to be Reality, and so he shuts elephaz down And
- 11:40so now Bill Dad, the Shoei is going to speak.
- 11:43And I told you guys to read that chapter and
- 11:46to notice how short it was. And this is part
- 11:49of that writing from that ancient time, the way
- 11:53that they do this. Now that these are shorter
- 11:56responses, it's showing you, like Elaine said,
- 11:58that they're closing down, they're getting smaller
- 12:00and smaller and Job's getting bigger and bigger.
- 12:02And that's exactly what it looks like. This is
- 12:05what we were talking about yet. There's the split.
- 12:08There's the chasm. There's the rift opening up.
- 12:13They're separating. It's altering. It's changing.
- 12:17They're going in different directions. Yes, exactly.
- 12:21And so the author has honed in this argument.
- 12:24He's going to call it when we get to chapter
- 12:2627. He's going to say, and Job again speaks from
- 12:30his discourse, basically. It's a discourse. It's
- 12:35a discourse. This is what's going on. If you
- 12:37would, Elaine, go ahead and let's read what Bill
- 12:40that has to say. Remember everything that Job's
- 12:42already said, everything that Zophar has said
- 12:44and Eliphaz has said and Job. It sets up this
- 12:47moment for Bill Dad. And here's a chance for
- 12:49Bill Dad to absolutely shine and show you how
- 12:53wise he actually is. Right. I'm reading from
- 12:57the complete Jewish Bible here. Yes. So if there's
- 12:59anything different, then just bring it out, Rick.
- 13:02It says dominion and fear belong to him. He makes
- 13:06peace in his high places. Can his armies be numbered?
- 13:10On whom does his light not shine? How then can
- 13:13humans be righteous with God? How can those born
- 13:16of women be clean? Why before him even the moon
- 13:21lacks brightness and the stars themselves are
- 13:24not pure. How much less a human who is merely
- 13:27a maggot, a mortal who is only a worm. Okay.
- 13:34All right. So Elaine, I would like to hear from
- 13:38you your opinion. OK, I never send you any of
- 13:40my notes. No, I didn't send you any of my notes
- 13:42on this. I just want to hear your opinion. What
- 13:45do you think Bill that is actually doing right
- 13:47here? What do I think Bill that is? What is Bill
- 13:51that doing like what? What would you say that
- 13:54in response to Job? How are how are these short?
- 13:57What is it eight versus? What is build that actually
- 14:01saying here is he doing anything of any value.
- 14:06It seems to me that he's starting to ask a question.
- 14:10He's responding to him slightly differently I
- 14:12would think there's a there's a different sort
- 14:15of attitude coming out here unless unless you
- 14:18can see something different I mean obviously
- 14:21he's talking about you know about the moon. Can
- 14:25anyone born of a woman be clean? And then he
- 14:28goes to talk about a maggot and a worm. Well,
- 14:32I know what a maggot is and I know what the worm
- 14:34is. So I think he's introducing something sort
- 14:38of a bit different. I mean, I don't know what
- 14:39you're thinking here and how you're connecting
- 14:42chapter 26 with it. Yeah, I don't think that
- 14:45I don't think that build that said anything technically
- 14:48wrong. Actually, I think if you listen to what
- 14:50he says, he's using his theological viewpoint
- 14:53and he's talking in generalities about God and
- 14:56all of the statements are true, none of which
- 14:59answer Job. None of none of anything that he
- 15:02says answers Job, Eliphaz or so far in any of
- 15:04this. So you think that that's just statements.
- 15:08Yeah. So, so let's just go through them one by
- 15:10one. Listen, I'll read it in the ESV, build out
- 15:12the shoe. I'd answered and said, dominion and
- 15:14fear are with God. He makes peace in high heaven.
- 15:18Is there any number to his armies upon whom does
- 15:21his light not arise? These are all true statements.
- 15:25This is, this is what God is. His dominion and
- 15:28fear are with him. Yes. He makes peace high in
- 15:31heaven. Yes. uh is there any number to his armies
- 15:34we don't know but no probably not upon whom does
- 15:37his light not arise yeah good point bill dad
- 15:41how then can man be in the right before god boom
- 15:44okay that's a good point how can man be right
- 15:48before god all right but here's where it gets
- 15:50interesting they've been Accusing Joe because
- 15:54of job situation that's why they're able to do
- 15:57this their worldview is because you're in this
- 15:59we know you've done wrong but we also have said
- 16:02this a million times in the study we know that's
- 16:04not true. So when bill that said how can a man
- 16:06be right before god that's that's a fair statement
- 16:08because none of us are right before him none
- 16:10of us are. And this is what i'm saying this is
- 16:13why when i read this i don't see anything accusatory
- 16:17towards. Job. Only in the fact that Jobe is just
- 16:23as wicked as everybody else is, is basically
- 16:25what he's saying. Exactly, but it's not as bitter,
- 16:29it's not as cutting as before. That's right,
- 16:34it's because the argument's broken down. Bill
- 16:37and Dad doesn't know where to go. Right, but
- 16:39in that breaking down of an argument, sometimes
- 16:42reason starts to become more clear. Yeah, sure.
- 16:46That's what he says. How then can man be in the
- 16:48right before God? How can he who is born of woman
- 16:50be pure? He can't be we know this he can be all
- 16:56right, but hold even the moon is not bright and
- 16:58the stars are not pure in his eyes I mean, how
- 17:01do we know that but build that can say that because
- 17:04God made those things and God is the light So
- 17:06therefore he is the brightest and so that's a
- 17:09fair statement There's nothing wrong with what
- 17:11build that is saying there is something missing
- 17:13here and I'm gonna point it out at the end How
- 17:16much less man who was a maggot and the son of
- 17:18man who is a worm. Okay. You see these words
- 17:23in the prophets all the time. I am a worm and
- 17:25no man, you know, things like that. So he's,
- 17:29he's saying that, you know, worm, where do worms
- 17:33reside? Down in the dirt that worms reside down
- 17:37in the dirt. Sometimes they inch worms are up
- 17:39in trees or whatever, but mainly the worms that
- 17:41we're talking about are down inside the dirt.
- 17:43which is where human beings usually are buried.
- 17:45That's what happens, right? Or if you burn, you
- 17:47reduce to ashes and you're blown in the wind,
- 17:49whatever. But he's saying that man is, you know,
- 17:51how much less man who is a maggot. So in other
- 17:55words, if the moon is not even bright and the
- 17:59stars are not pure and got than how much more
- 18:01so is man. So there's this measuring. OK, there's
- 18:06a measurement that he's setting. All right. All
- 18:09well and good, Bill, dad. But tell me. How in
- 18:11the world did that answer Job? How did it answer
- 18:14Job? Remember what Job said at the end? Prove
- 18:16me a liar. That's all he said. Prove me a liar.
- 18:20Bill Dadd starts speaking in generalities from
- 18:22his worldview and he starts stating the things
- 18:24that are actually true. He's actually stating
- 18:26the things that are true about God without compassion.
- 18:30There's no compassion. Notice that he's just
- 18:33speaking in generalities because his argument
- 18:35has been defeated. Eliphaz has been defeated.
- 18:38And so is so far. Job's discourse so far has
- 18:42leveled these men to where they have nothing
- 18:43more to say. There's nothing more to say to him.
- 18:46So now Job is getting ready to turn this into
- 18:49something no one had ever seen before. No one's
- 18:54ever seen what what Job's about to do. Go ahead.
- 18:56Right. Can I just speak here as well about these
- 19:01worms? Now, if you look up these maggot and worms.
- 19:06One is when it talks about, um, in verse six,
- 19:11how much less man is a worm. Now, if you look
- 19:14at the Hebrew, there's two different words, just
- 19:18a bit like when they say the temple, it can be
- 19:20the naos or the higher up, but they use the same
- 19:23word. It's the same here. Now he's asked, or
- 19:27how can he be clean? That is born of a woman.
- 19:30Ah, now How can he be clean who was born of a
- 19:33woman? Well, at that particular time, they didn't
- 19:35know that. They had no idea. But of course, now
- 19:38in our day and age, we know how we can be clean.
- 19:41Yeah, because the one who was born of a woman
- 19:43under the law, Jesus Christ, makes us clean.
- 19:47Right, right. So therefore, this is the question
- 19:49he's asking. And then it goes on to say, how
- 19:52much lest man a worm? Now, this is the word,
- 19:57I did a talk about eight, nine years ago in a
- 19:59church. And I gave a talk about the tola worm.
- 20:02Now there's two types of worms. One is rima and
- 20:06one is tola. A rima is an ordinary worm that
- 20:09reproduces quite rapidly like a maggot. But another
- 20:12one is a tola worm. And it's interesting that
- 20:15he uses the tola for worm in the last part because
- 20:20it says, and the son of man, which is a worm.
- 20:25Now we go to Psalms 22 and it talks about Jesus.
- 20:30being a worm, but it is the same worm that we
- 20:34find here indicating and the son of man is a
- 20:39worm. Now, if you go to the tola worm, do you
- 20:41remember Lydia in Act 16? Now she was a seller
- 20:46of purple. Yes. Now that is that they are dried
- 20:50worms you crush to get the crimson dye. They're
- 20:55called the crimson worm. Now, this tola worm
- 20:59here, where it talks about the son of man, which
- 21:01we know is Christ, he's already talked about
- 21:03how much less man, well, he's just talking in
- 21:05general here about men, well, men can't do anything.
- 21:08But the son of man, who is the tola worm, the
- 21:11crimson worm can. And it's interesting, if you
- 21:14look up about the crimson worm, it's a little
- 21:17tiny thing, about seven centimeters long, something
- 21:21like that, or millimeter, whatever it is, and
- 21:24it's got little legs and it climbs up when it's
- 21:27about to give birth, it climbs up the Kermes
- 21:30tree. And it's a very, very prickly tree. And
- 21:34again, it takes me back to when the ram was caught
- 21:39in the thicket. Well, this worm climbs up this
- 21:43tree, and it sticks itself to this tree when
- 21:47it's going to give birth to its children. And
- 21:51it gives birth to its children. And for three
- 21:54days, The children feed on the mother. So the
- 21:58mother dies. But interestingly, at the end of
- 22:02it, she gives a crimson dye. It comes out of
- 22:05her body and she coats her children in this crimson
- 22:09dye so that when she falls off, the children
- 22:13become crimson forever. Three days it's stuck
- 22:17there and they become crimson covered with her
- 22:21dye. with what she fed on. And then three days
- 22:25after that, what happens is that the tola worm,
- 22:28it sucks its tail up into its head and it makes
- 22:31a little heart shape. But then it turns a waxy,
- 22:36pure white. And it's like Isaiah says, though
- 22:40our sins are like scarlet. Yeah. And they will
- 22:44be sort of like washed away and they will become
- 22:47as white as the driven snow. So here, For me,
- 22:52he's saying, without even knowing it, is differentiating
- 22:55between man who is a maggot, he reproduces, can't
- 22:58do anything, and this tola worm, this crimson
- 23:02worm. And it's interesting that Lydia, she made
- 23:07clothes, crimson clothes, out of this dye. And
- 23:11it's royalty. It's so expensive, that only royalty,
- 23:17and this is why royalty wears it. And it takes
- 23:19you back. So Herod, what did he do? He said he
- 23:22must have a cloak if he's a king. Let's put a
- 23:24cloak on. And it was a crimson scarlet cloak
- 23:27that they put around this worm. Wow. Isn't it?
- 23:33You know what? I mean, please, everybody go and
- 23:36look it up. See, it just shows you, Rick. I gave
- 23:40this talk about eight, nine years ago and there
- 23:42were people with tears in their eyes. I gave
- 23:44it was about a 40 minute talk. I said, we elaborated
- 23:47more on it. It's really interesting. But I just
- 23:50thought, my gosh, it is so amazing. The movement
- 23:54when you talk about these things in people, then
- 23:57they go and look it up and then they are amazed.
- 23:59Go and I suggest that you go and look up on YouTube.
- 24:03There are talks on the Crimson Worm. Go and look
- 24:06up on YouTube, you know, the Crimson Worm and
- 24:10you'll get a talk up there up there. And it is
- 24:13amazing. And there's not a dry eye at the end
- 24:15of it, even even sort of like pastors that are
- 24:17talking about it. are talking, you know, just
- 24:21moved so much by it. But yeah, she dies, she
- 24:26kills herself so that she can cover her children
- 24:29with this crimson dye so that they go away all
- 24:32the time. They feed on her for three days, the
- 24:35mother, they eat her, they eat of her. And then
- 24:38this crimson dye coats them and they are crimson
- 24:40worms forever. And it's just beautiful. And then
- 24:43the Crimson Worm sucks its back tail up inside.
- 24:46So it becomes like this tiny heart shape. And
- 24:50this is the heart of Christ. And your sins become
- 24:53like the driven snow, because it becomes a pure
- 24:55white thing when it dies. And that's after three
- 24:58days. Honestly. But this is what I'm saying.
- 25:04This is what I can see. Then how can a man be
- 25:08justified with God then? How can he? How can
- 25:10anyone be clean of a woman? Ah, the son of man,
- 25:14which is a worm. Right. That's how you become
- 25:17clean. And that's how it happens. And all this
- 25:20is being written. And they don't even know what
- 25:23they're actually saying. They don't even know
- 25:25it's right there for them. And that is a that
- 25:27is a brilliant. Thing to talk about with that
- 25:30worm. I appreciate you sharing that and I think
- 25:32everybody if I can remember I'll try to put a
- 25:35link to a couple of the videos that she's talking
- 25:37about on YouTube I'll try to find them and put
- 25:39them there for you so you can look but wow What
- 25:41a fascinating topic and maybe we can do another
- 25:43show just about the total worm if it's fully
- 25:45minutes long You could talk about that Exactly,
- 25:48and then people can comment because we've given
- 25:49the heads up already about it. But honestly Rick
- 25:52it is it is it just you at the end of it I think
- 25:57if you have got no tears in your eyes or tears
- 26:00aren't rolling down your cheek, you haven't got
- 26:02it. You haven't got it. Well, I just want you
- 26:06to know I've heard of that worm but I've never
- 26:08heard it described in this fashion. Oh, it's
- 26:10amazing and the way the tree that it climbs up,
- 26:14you can find it elsewhere but it's in Palestine
- 26:15and it's a tree that's got like thorns on it,
- 26:19you know, and it climbs up between your thorns
- 26:20and it just makes me think of like when Christ
- 26:22was caught, or the ram was caught in the thicket
- 26:25when Abraham was going to give up Isaac. And
- 26:29he said, God will provide himself a sacrifice.
- 26:35So himself is the sacrifice. And it's all being
- 26:39written down there. The moon isn't pure, the
- 26:44stars aren't, and yet the son of man is, because
- 26:46he's the tola worm. This tiny insignificant thing
- 26:50that nobody gives any credibility or credence
- 26:53to. This is what God used to signify who his
- 26:57son was. Oh, I mean, you know, nothing is insignificant.
- 27:03Nothing. Nothing. It's just amazing the way that
- 27:07these things work out and how God has planned.
- 27:09This is what I'm saying. This is why I find it
- 27:11such a love story. God is so deep. He's planned
- 27:14every single thing around his son. And like we
- 27:18said yesterday, this moment in time, this moment
- 27:21in time when Christ on the cross said, it is
- 27:24finished, paid in full, paid in full, you know,
- 27:28and that was it. And through his shed blood,
- 27:31we are all washed clean in it. We are covered
- 27:34in him. Wonderful. We appear as a driven snow.
- 27:37Yeah. And the heart. Oh, man. Very good. All
- 27:42right. So here's how we're going to before we
- 27:45get into chapter number 26. This is where we
- 27:49are. Okay, so build dad Definitely has theology
- 27:53But it's basically without oxygen. It's airless.
- 27:58It's empty because he knows Dominion he knows
- 28:03fear. He knows heaven. He knows purity, you know
- 28:07stars and holiness But he doesn't know what to
- 28:10do with this man sitting in the ashes. No, that's
- 28:14the reality. He doesn't know what to do with
- 28:17this man that's in the ashes none of them do
- 28:19and so there's only one who actually knows what
- 28:22to do with this man in the ashes and that's going
- 28:23to be God himself but Job is working through
- 28:27now remember he's being pressed pressed pressed
- 28:30now Job's going to open his mouth and he's going
- 28:32to start talking and I want to give you a little
- 28:34bit of a heads up because if you've already read
- 28:36ahead by the time you get to chapter 27 It almost
- 28:41starts to sound like he's in agreement with his
- 28:43friends. It does sound like that in a way, but
- 28:46you've got to get what's going on here in 26
- 28:49in order to understand 27. Remember these build
- 28:54on each other. He's not just an agreement. He
- 28:56agrees to a point, but he's going to show them
- 28:59the difference, how he's seeing this wickedness
- 29:02and what ultimately comes. So if you would, Elaine,
- 29:05in mind reading Uh, chapter 26. Right, do you
- 29:11want me to read it from this, the complete or
- 29:14the - Yeah, go from the complete, that sounds
- 29:16great. Right. It says, The ghosts of the dead
- 29:38tremble beneath the water with its creatures.
- 29:41Sheol is naked before him, abandoned lies uncovered.
- 29:45He stretches the north over chaos. He suspends
- 29:47the earth on nothing. He binds up the water in
- 29:50his thick clouds, yet no cloud is torn apart
- 29:53by it. He shuts off the view of his throne by
- 29:56spreading his cloud across it. He fixed a circle
- 29:59on the surface of the water, defining the boundary
- 30:02between light and dark. All right, so He actually
- 30:34addresses Bill dad. So remember he I said that
- 30:38he wasn't really addressing Elif as he's just
- 30:40in a group But in this case, he's addressing
- 30:42Bill dad, but I think it's meant for the whole
- 30:43group, too All right. He starts off being sarcastic.
- 30:47Actually, that's that he does. Yes, because I've
- 30:49written down here soccer you imagine Oh, yeah,
- 30:51what great help you bring to the situation. Yeah.
- 30:53Good job guys. What a great health here I am.
- 30:56Nothing's changed all of these all of these words
- 30:59Yeah, blah blah blah blah. Yeah And Bill Dad,
- 31:04you know, you were, if anything, you were short
- 31:07and you were abstract and emotionally cold. Like
- 31:10that's what you are. Is that safe? Basically,
- 31:14he's utterly helpless. Bill Dad does nothing
- 31:18for him. Basically, this is a pastoral failure
- 31:23he's mentioning. All right. What is he? How have
- 31:25you helped him who has no power? How have you
- 31:28saved the arm that has no strength? That's the
- 31:30sarcasm. Wow. Yeah, incredible amazing. Look
- 31:34at all the help you've given to a weak and suffering
- 31:36man guys. Look what you've done That's basically
- 31:38how he's that's what he's saying, right? Yeah,
- 31:41I'm happy now Yeah, I mean You would think that
- 31:46Job in his in his stature in his life that the
- 31:50friends that would have come to him would have
- 31:51been the ones to bring him wisdom and patience
- 31:54and compassion and gentleness, but no His friends
- 31:58do not do they do not contain this No, but I
- 32:02think the scene was already set that they thought
- 32:04that he was going to respond in a certain way.
- 32:05But when Jobe did, it was almost like, oh, hang
- 32:08on a minute, this isn't quite how we sort of
- 32:10saw it going here. The man is responding to our
- 32:13wisdom, our wise words, the way we see it. And
- 32:16they start to, again, these sorts of things that
- 32:19they're commenting on now. Jobe is, like you
- 32:21say, sarcasm. What other things are you going
- 32:24to tell me? You know, we've got a bit time going
- 32:26on here, you know, hurry up, hurry up. Yes, exactly.
- 32:29So in essence, and we'll go through more of this
- 32:33chapter as we go here, but I just wanted to say
- 32:35this as an outline. The reason why I wanted you
- 32:37to stop at twenty seven, because when Joe gets
- 32:41into twenty eight, he's going to define wisdom
- 32:44for you. That's that's really what's going to
- 32:46happen. So he's showing them even in this sarcasm.
- 32:50This isn't wisdom. This isn't wisdom. You've
- 32:53got generalities. You've got You're looking at
- 32:56reality in a wrong way. You're not being honest
- 32:59and truthful with your but tell me something.
- 33:01I don't know Right. Yeah, exactly. And he's about
- 33:04to and he's going to get into that. He is going
- 33:06to start showing what you would think is agreement
- 33:08with them, but he's actually pushing it even
- 33:10more forward. And so when he gets to Chapter
- 33:1328, that's when he's going to start defining
- 33:15this wisdom. Now, there's a lot going on and
- 33:18we're only in, you know, we've got to go. We
- 33:20got a long way to go here. There's several chapters.
- 33:21We've still got to lie who to deal with. We've
- 33:23got God who's going to be speaking. So I don't
- 33:25want to get too far ahead, but I just want to
- 33:27say that. This is why I said it's how to become
- 33:30a high priest. You have to go through this and
- 33:33we, the only way that we are gonna understand
- 33:36what Joe means is if we actually have compassion
- 33:38on him, if we actually get in the dust with him,
- 33:42if we listen to the words of his mouth, the things
- 33:45that he says, right? He says, how have you counseled
- 33:49him who has no wisdom and plentifully declared
- 33:51sound knowledge? Again, wow, what brilliant counsel
- 33:54you've brought, right? What's the next verse
- 33:58here? Verse four. With whose help have you uttered
- 34:01words and whose breath has come out from you?
- 34:04I think yours said spirit, didn't it? Whose spirit
- 34:07is it coming forth from you? Yeah. Where's that
- 34:10come from? I mean, who's the source? I looked
- 34:14at it a couple of different ways. I either think
- 34:17that one, Job is kind of like still mocking him
- 34:20or he's exposing something that's been borrowed.
- 34:24It's been taken from somewhere else. Well, I
- 34:27think again, it's it's it's who's the source.
- 34:29Right. Who is the source? Who's the source? Is
- 34:31it you? Yeah. God. Where did you get this from?
- 34:35Where's your source? Yeah. So who fed you these
- 34:39particular phrases, Bill Dad? Who fed you that?
- 34:42Right. Who gave you that? This stock wisdom,
- 34:46whatever this is, that you're repeating because.
- 34:49Well, it's not really wisdom. It's just knowledge.
- 34:51Because if he had wisdom, he would understand
- 34:53that the knowledge is be applied properly. You
- 34:55got it. It's not wisdom. It's knowledge. There's
- 34:58a big difference. There is a big difference.
- 35:00Good job. All right First five the dead tremble
- 35:04under the waters in their inhabitants. That was
- 35:06interesting to me because now Job is shifting.
- 35:08He's already like I think he was dealing with
- 35:11build ad probably possibly mocking him But also
- 35:13pointing out, you know, you're repeating this
- 35:15information from somewhere. That's why this is
- 35:17like stock wisdom for you, but it's actually
- 35:19knowledge and Now he's gonna say The dead. What
- 35:25is yours, the complete Jewish, in verse 5, how
- 35:28does it say it? It says, the ghosts of the dead
- 35:30tremble. Well, you can have the spirits of the
- 35:34dead tremble. Yeah, in the ESV, it says the dead,
- 35:40but when you look at the underlying Hebrew points,
- 35:43it's like the shades of the departed ones, or
- 35:45the departed ones. Yeah, in the King James, it
- 35:48says, dead things are formed from under the waters.
- 35:52Yes. With the inhabitants thereof. Right, so
- 35:57this word popped up and I'm sorry that I didn't
- 35:59do a full study on it and I need to, okay? I
- 36:03might even go and look it up right quick. But
- 36:06the word that's being used here for the dead
- 36:09or for the ghosts is... Ref I am our e ph a im
- 36:14ref. I am a shadowy term used in the Old Testament
- 36:18for the dead or ghost -like underworld inhabitants
- 36:21So job doesn't start with the stars above which
- 36:26is where build ad was he goes with the spirits
- 36:29below See he's taking you down into the depths
- 36:33here. All right, so which to me is fascinating.
- 36:36He went the opposite direction, right? so I think
- 36:40that what Job is going to show us is that God
- 36:46is over even the deepest shadowy realm. He's
- 36:50over all of it, right? They remember he talked
- 36:53about a worm. Remember how Bill did said the
- 36:55worm? Well, if you think about the worm, it's
- 36:57in the dirt. He's saying, no, it goes into the
- 37:00spirit even below. God's gonna see all of it.
- 37:03And if you remember earlier in one of the chapters,
- 37:06he said, I'm going to the north and I'm going
- 37:07to the south and the west and the east. I cannot
- 37:09find him, but I know he sees me. Job understands
- 37:12that God does see him, but he sees all things.
- 37:15He's so immense. And Job's gonna pick up on this
- 37:18later in chapter 27. Alright so under the waters
- 37:22guys by this point you probably already know
- 37:24this it represents chaos death the unknown the
- 37:28abyss The threatening untamed realm beneath the
- 37:32ordered life. That's that's the idea here. Alright,
- 37:35that's where this is. It's so it's like Almost
- 37:39like the cosmology of the ancient world if you
- 37:42if you've ever seen these things the cosmology
- 37:44you have Like this dome and you've got the heavens
- 37:46above and the waters beneath you've got this
- 37:48space and you got the land and then underneath
- 37:49You've got the subterranean and then you've got
- 37:51the spirit. It's kind of like that ancient cosmological
- 37:54views seems like that's what he's showing Waters
- 37:58underworld beneath that's the shadowy places,
- 38:00right? But listen to what he says in verse 6
- 38:02read that again Sheol is naked before him Abaddon
- 38:10lies uncovered. Oh, wow. Right. Wow. So Abaddon,
- 38:15that was interesting. But Sheol. All right. So
- 38:18I'm going to look up something real quick because
- 38:21I want to know myself. I got to know. All right.
- 38:25So Sheol is naked before God. So that's interesting.
- 38:27That means it's unclothed. That means he can
- 38:29see it exactly. Well, again, the grave is talked
- 38:32about the ghost of the dead tremble. I mean,
- 38:34again. You know, in what condition are these
- 38:36to God? She -el is naked before him. It's exposed.
- 38:40It doesn't hide anything. It might hide dead
- 38:45people, dust people. But what is that to me as
- 38:49God? We've already spoken about the worm. We've
- 38:52already just spoken about the worm there and
- 38:54the son of man, which is a worm. So, I mean,
- 38:56it's following on. It's all hidden in there.
- 39:00Redemption is all hidden in there. It's hidden
- 39:03in there totally. shield is abaddon means destruction
- 39:07so destruction lies uncovered very good yes destruction
- 39:11very good the place of ruin destruction or what
- 39:13lies beyond human reach okay it says that um
- 39:17in psalm 88 11 it says is your steadfast love
- 39:20declared in the grave or your faithfulness in
- 39:22abaddon This word of bad and showing destruction
- 39:26or the unseen ruin of death or a domain of destruction
- 39:30the place that where things are swallowed up
- 39:32you might be able to think of like the sons of
- 39:34Korra how they're swallowed up right that destruction
- 39:38of those and Revelation 9 11 they have exactly
- 39:41I was gonna bring that up Good they have is king
- 39:44over them the angel of the bottomless pit his
- 39:46name in hebrew is a bad in a drink his name is
- 39:50a poly on and it just right it means destroyer
- 39:53destruction destroyer. That's right and so in
- 39:57the old testament of adding is more like a realm
- 39:59or a condition of destruction and revelation
- 40:01destructive forces personified into a king or
- 40:05an angel over the abyss. Okay this is really
- 40:09wild it's an angel of judgment. It is you're
- 40:12judging it is yeah, because again he talks about
- 40:15the same thing the abyss It's it's the abyss
- 40:18the angel of the abyss Yeah, it just is there.
- 40:22It's these it's this angel of death. It's this
- 40:25is You know, we know who the angel of death is
- 40:28really right You know, I mean the one that visited
- 40:32the Egyptians firstborn sons Right. Okay exactly
- 40:38You know again, it talks about this He was given
- 40:42the key to the abyss, but down. But again, the
- 40:45whole point of this is Job is saying God knows
- 40:49that exactly. That's the point that he's saying
- 40:52is like, look, I, I received God is sovereign.
- 40:57I'm saying it with my mouth. He's over all of
- 40:59it. And he, yeah, Job's going to get personal
- 41:02here in a little bit. He will get personal about
- 41:04this in chapter 27, but he's, he's taking their
- 41:09worldview and he's actually opening it up even
- 41:12further okay he's saying yeah there are things
- 41:15that you're saying in generalities that are true
- 41:16there are things about weakness that you're saying
- 41:18true let me show you how far this goes you really
- 41:20need to know who this god is it's not so cut
- 41:22and dry as you guys like to put it there's no
- 41:25hidden realm where god's sight fails that's the
- 41:29point exactly no hidden realm where god's sight
- 41:32fails No, there isn't. I mean, let's face it.
- 41:35Here's the Alpha and the Omega, the first and
- 41:37the last beginning and the end. He knows everything.
- 41:39He created everything. He brought everything
- 41:40forward. Without him, nothing lives. It just
- 41:42expires. Right. And that's beautiful. I'm glad
- 41:45you said it that way. But this is what I needed
- 41:48to understand and what I believe I hope that
- 41:50you all as our listeners understand is that What
- 41:54job is saying is actually true. That means that
- 41:56in every single circumstance of your life, God
- 41:59is absolutely aware. Sometimes we say it with
- 42:02our mouth, but we don't actually believe that.
- 42:05Like I had some, you know, I think Alan had asked
- 42:07me, you know, do you think God actually brought
- 42:09the storm of Helene? And my answer was yes. The
- 42:13storm of what? The storm of hurricane Helene
- 42:15when it came. Oh, sorry. Yes. Yes. Right. He
- 42:17had said, do you think this is just weather or
- 42:19do you think like, where do we stand now? And
- 42:21I said, yes. This did not take God by surprise.
- 42:24This is something God is at the end as it is
- 42:27in the beginning. So I'm one of those weird people
- 42:29that believe that God brings the weather because
- 42:31I believe that he knows it. If he didn't want
- 42:33it to rain on that day, God could have stopped
- 42:36it, but he didn't. Exactly. There's a purpose
- 42:38in it. God knows it. So I have trust in God.
- 42:41No matter what happens in my circumstances, I
- 42:43have to say, God, you know. Exactly. And it just
- 42:48goes back to, you know, I know the beginning
- 42:50to the end. yes you know i am the author of salvation
- 42:53i i've always been there i always will be there
- 42:56all of this and this is why i keep banging on
- 42:58about the fact that right from genesis to revelation
- 43:02we have to see that right at the beginning there
- 43:03the things he's talking about like you know beneath
- 43:05the water with its creatures we see the sort
- 43:08of big sea monsters that go into the waters you
- 43:10know this is this is these are talking about
- 43:13the pressure natural creatures like Peter and
- 43:16like the apostles that went out there as these
- 43:18big guns like we we need to see that at the end
- 43:22of that these are not just individual stories
- 43:24They are part of a wonderful tapestry that God
- 43:28has woven into, like I keep saying, individual
- 43:30lives, couples' lives, married lives, families,
- 43:34tribes, nations. It's all woven in there and
- 43:38it's all, all about his son Christ. He's the
- 43:42beginning and he's the Aleph and the Tav. The
- 43:44Aleph is the power. That's the cross. He's the
- 43:47pair of the cross right there. Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 43:50And that, and I like how you put that, um, because
- 43:53like the cross has a vertical beam, right? And
- 43:55it has a horizontal beam, but you think about
- 43:57the vertical beam. Remember when I said that
- 43:59Job looks up, like he's, he's sitting there and
- 44:01he's looking up, like he's dealing with God.
- 44:03He's talking with God instead of dealing with
- 44:04this. But what's going on is that those men like
- 44:07build that and then they're operating up here
- 44:08on the upper side. And they're saying, even these
- 44:11aren't pure enough. And even this will look,
- 44:13Job goes. He goes down. He's going down below
- 44:16the earth He's showing you that actually let
- 44:18me show you how deep actually God goes watch
- 44:21this how so I want to give you guys like this
- 44:24Interesting thing that happened to me yesterday.
- 44:26Okay, I'm not gonna say names it's a person that
- 44:30I know personally and For whatever reason she
- 44:35decided to confide in me some truths about her
- 44:39heart about her relationship To her husband it's
- 44:43it was it was like pastoral care, but i'm not
- 44:46her pastor and this was just something that she
- 44:49said to me She had expressed things about how
- 44:52she for example, no longer loved her husband
- 44:55First of all, it would be inappropriate In most
- 44:59cases, but I was just trying to be kind and I
- 45:01listened He didn't love her husband. She had
- 45:04said I've even tried to gain weight so he'd stop
- 45:05being interested in me I've even stopped wearing
- 45:08makeup because I don't want them I didn't want
- 45:10him to be attracted to me and I'm sitting there
- 45:12and I'm listening to this and I'm thinking to
- 45:14myself That's that's appalling. I mean, that's
- 45:18my question. Is she a Christian? Yes, let me
- 45:21finish Christian. Yes. Oh, I'm glad you said
- 45:24thanks for asking I was gonna say that okay So
- 45:27here's what I discovered and I thank this study
- 45:29of job for helping me understand it Okay? Because
- 45:33for whatever reason, as I was listening, I wasn't
- 45:37judging because I was trying to be a compassionate
- 45:40listener. Instead of looking at her and posturing
- 45:43like, well, that's unholiness, right? I decided
- 45:46to be compassionate. And so the question that
- 45:49I asked was this. I said, have you told the Lord
- 45:53this? Have you told the Lord the things that
- 45:56you just said to me that I've decided not to
- 45:59wear makeup. So I'd be ugly. So he wouldn't want
- 46:01me. I've decided to gain weight so that I would
- 46:02be unattractive and therefore want to be around
- 46:04me. I've decided that I'm not going to answer
- 46:06him sometimes to make him angry so that because
- 46:09I want him to get rid of me. I said, what I'm
- 46:11seeing is that you're trying to get him to get
- 46:13rid of you so that you don't have to wear the
- 46:15guilt of a broken relationship. And because you're
- 46:17it's marriage and because you feel strongly that,
- 46:20you know, God is over marriage. Is that what's
- 46:21really going on? Yes. I said, do you understand
- 46:25that what you're doing? Is that you are actually
- 46:29it's kind of like a form of gaslighting your
- 46:31husband. It's like He might say things like I've
- 46:33noticed that you don't really keep up with your
- 46:35appearances like you used to are you trying to
- 46:36get rid of me? No, even though that would be
- 46:39true Right. So I said have you had this in prayer
- 46:42if you spoke to God about this Have you asked
- 46:45the father father? I've been doing this In order
- 46:48to have you know have her answer was no. No,
- 46:51I would never speak to God that way And I said
- 46:54now I know that your relationship with him Doesn't
- 46:57exist is wrong. Yeah, what you have is an idea
- 47:03of what that is You don't know him. You don't
- 47:05know him You need you need to go before him and
- 47:09you need to lay yourself out before you need
- 47:11you need to know him and he And he wants to know
- 47:14you see that the only reason we were able to
- 47:16get there wasn't judgment. It was compassion
- 47:18I suddenly saw where the relationship had broke
- 47:20down. She was kind of like a Zophar She was kind
- 47:23of like a build that was a surface person that
- 47:26knew about God and was operating in that but
- 47:28never really had this relationship where she
- 47:31could speak. Job would say I know your ugliness
- 47:34I see how far down you've went you're willing
- 47:37to gaslight your husband you're willing to do
- 47:39these things to him to break the marriage because
- 47:41you have a guilty conscience because you don't
- 47:43want to own it and break up the marriage and
- 47:45be responsible for that so therefore you're acting
- 47:47this way I see that did you know that God loves
- 47:50you and that he can repair that in you. Did you
- 47:52know that you can come up from the dust? Did
- 47:54you know that this marriage could be actually
- 47:56saved and be better than you ever imagined? But
- 47:59you're gonna have to trust him. You have to get
- 48:01in with him and let him know who you truly are.
- 48:03And then that's when you know what forgiveness
- 48:05really is. I know. Yeah, and the sad thing is,
- 48:13they can't have that much of a relationship with
- 48:14God because God knows what she's thinking even
- 48:16before she thinks it. Of course. And that's what
- 48:20Joe's saying here. Exactly. It's not as if you're
- 48:23sort of like hiding it and thinking, well, you
- 48:25know, it's a bit like the Pharisees behind closed
- 48:27doors. Oh, God can't see me. Hang on a minute.
- 48:29That shows you how little you know him because
- 48:31you think he can't see you. Yeah, but yeah, I'm
- 48:34glad that you say, but this is my point, Elaine.
- 48:36Watch our brain can say, I know God knows this
- 48:40about me, but there's a difference in him knowing
- 48:43it and you turning around and speaking it back
- 48:44to him. There is, but then that still tells me
- 48:48that you haven't got an understanding, a depth
- 48:51of a relationship. That's correct. The first
- 48:53thing I would say to God is, Lord, my relationship's
- 48:57failing, help me to change it around, help me
- 48:59to turn it around. Right. Showing me where I'm
- 49:02failing, because the fault lies with me, or my
- 49:05husband, and I would ask as two Christians that
- 49:08really we need that threefold call at Ecclesiastes
- 49:11that's not easily broken. Right. If God is not
- 49:14in your marriage, if God is not in the center
- 49:16of your marriage, so the husband's not looking
- 49:18to God, the wife's not looking to God, they're
- 49:19not playing their roles. I mean, it's a disaster.
- 49:23But listen, listen, you're hitting the nail on
- 49:26the head. That's what I'm trying to get here.
- 49:28I know you are. I'm agreeing with you. Yeah,
- 49:30yeah, I know you are. I'm saying that her husband
- 49:33and she and her husband. Believe that they're
- 49:36Christians believe they're in church are being
- 49:38trained by their pastor But they have an idea
- 49:41about God. They don't have a relationship Yeah,
- 49:44because they they they they might have a surface
- 49:46one, but it's one way in their brain They but
- 49:49they're not they know about God. They're like
- 49:52God bless me today because of this. That's great
- 49:54That's great. And I believe you you know, it's
- 49:57just like bill dad said God is even brighter
- 50:00than this the moon Well, yes, good job, but can
- 50:04you look at him and say I? Am doing this I if
- 50:09this is what's coming from me Creating me a clean
- 50:13heart Oh God because my heart is desperately
- 50:15wicked and who can know it exactly It's time
- 50:18to have a broken in a contrite spirit is how
- 50:21you come before God to let him do that for you
- 50:24To bring you into the light And that shows you,
- 50:28well, you've got a good relationship. I mean,
- 50:30it's like when you're a parent, you see a child,
- 50:32you know they've done something, but you want
- 50:34them to come to you without you going to them.
- 50:36You want them to say, oh, mommy, I've done this.
- 50:40And you don't say, well, I knew you had, you
- 50:42just think to yourself, oh, bless, they actually
- 50:44trust me enough to know that they can come to
- 50:46me and say those things. And it warms the relationship.
- 50:49It moves you internally. And this is what God
- 50:52wants. He must be so broken hearted. I mean,
- 50:55if God can be blessed, he can be broken hearted.
- 50:57You know, yes, the children, you know, you just
- 51:00think to yourself, he's longing for us to share
- 51:02our thoughts and our feelings, you know, with
- 51:04him. It's like I say, if you've got a problem
- 51:06with anything, you know, someone in the church
- 51:08might have a problem with pornography. I know
- 51:09Pete bringing up pornography because that's sort
- 51:11of like very, you know, you look on your phone
- 51:13and see it and nobody will ever know. but it's
- 51:17things like that that you should be able to go
- 51:19to not that you're ashamed because that's what
- 51:21sin is god wants to eradicate and change and
- 51:24change your spirit within you so you don't want
- 51:26to feel that you need to look at that so you
- 51:29need to go to him with with that open heart not
- 51:31let's face it god is not there's nothing new
- 51:34under the sun rick god is not shocked i mean
- 51:37if you put in the bible don't stand before a
- 51:39beast to have sex with it i mean you can't shock
- 51:41god can you great Right, not at all. And I think
- 51:45that's the point here, right? So, Jobe is saying...
- 51:51God knows everything. Look at the next verse.
- 51:52He stretches out the north over the void and
- 51:54hangs the earth on nothing. Now, a lot of us
- 51:56that we talk about, see, that's the spinning
- 51:58globe. That's not what he's talking about. What
- 52:00he's saying is that he knows the deepest depths.
- 52:04He knows a bad and he knows refining, he knows
- 52:07chaos and darkness and and shield is naked before
- 52:10his eyes and he stretches the north over the
- 52:13void. He hangs the earth on nothing. He is the
- 52:16total power. He is the power is everything. But
- 52:20Jesus would say, you will see me and I will be
- 52:23at the right hand of the power. He says that.
- 52:26He uses that term, right? OK, sorry. I don't
- 52:29mean to get so excited, but I love the word God.
- 52:31I think we all get excited. I mean, that's how
- 52:32it should be. Yeah. Verse eight, he binds up
- 52:35the waters in his thick clouds and the cloud
- 52:37is not split open under them. He's literally
- 52:39looking at his world. He's saying there's a cloud
- 52:41and it's going by and there's rain in it. It's
- 52:43heavy. Yes, I believe God brings the rain clouds.
- 52:47Yes. God is design all of this. This is here.
- 52:49He he's with us in the skies. Absolutely stars
- 52:52in the moon and the sun. He hangs the earth on
- 52:55nothingness, but he knows the depth of shield.
- 52:57He does not he cannot be stopped. He will go
- 53:01everywhere. He covers the face of the full moon
- 53:04and spreads over it is cloud. So he takes that
- 53:07cloud and he covers the face. This is from our
- 53:11perspective. It's God that's doing it. God veils.
- 53:13moon he obscures what's bright and stable okay
- 53:20even the things that man things are fixed and
- 53:24luminous are still subject to god's hidden hand
- 53:27what voice what verse are you on rick uh i think
- 53:30i'm on verse nine he covers the face of the full
- 53:32moon um but my verse nine says he shuts off the
- 53:36view of his throne by spreading his clouds across
- 53:40it yeah it's the moon and the sb How about that,
- 53:44huh? How about that? He shuts off the view of
- 53:48his throne Yeah, now watch this joke 2610 people
- 53:51use this but listen He has inscribed a circle
- 53:53on the face of the waters at the boundary between
- 53:56light and darkness Now many people will use this
- 54:00as a way to prove the globe He'd inscribed a
- 54:04circle on the face of the waters. So there's
- 54:05the face of the waters. There's a circle. Well,
- 54:08it's not a globe is more of a ball and And the
- 54:11Hebrews knew how to differentiate between a circle
- 54:14and a globe. Look, it's really simple. I try
- 54:17to explain this. An earthbound creature. OK,
- 54:21let me show you how this works. You see this
- 54:24little bottle that I've got here. Marchesa gave
- 54:25me this bottle. It's got this stress relieving
- 54:29calm oil. But as you can see, an earthbound creature
- 54:32spins like this. That's how a person can see
- 54:36his world north south east west he spins in a
- 54:40circle The horizon is a circle on the waters.
- 54:43It's a circle It doesn't change because this
- 54:46is what we do We we can't go all the way up and
- 54:48we can't go all the way down, but we can do this
- 54:51So he's the he's showing the waters above look
- 54:57You can see it you can see the circle It's going
- 55:01all around you. You can go this way. You can
- 55:04see whatever you call it the dome or the atmosphere
- 55:06or whatever it is the right hand verse 11 The
- 55:11pillars of heaven tremble and are astounded at
- 55:13his rebuke. So now we've got these pillars that
- 55:15are holding the heaven up This is ancient cosmology
- 55:18guys. He's defining the world based on their
- 55:20ancient cosmology and it's He's saying that even
- 55:25those cosmic supports Shake whenever God rebukes.
- 55:30Okay, God is all power that that's really what
- 55:33he's getting by his power He stilled the sea
- 55:35verse 12 by his understanding. He shattered Rahab.
- 55:40We talked about Rahab earlier In an earlier study,
- 55:44right? So Rahab, it's again. It's not rehab from
- 55:48Jericho. It's the mythic imagery symbolic of
- 55:52chaos or cosmic Opposition, proud, cosmic opposition,
- 55:59a chaos monster figure or a proud sea power.
- 56:03Even Egypt has been considered a historical embodiment
- 56:07of proud opposition to God. They would be a Rahab
- 56:10against the people. So he's using this language
- 56:13that these guys already know. This is ancient
- 56:17language that these men understand. See, a lot
- 56:20of this takes me back to Genesis one. Of course
- 56:24it does. It's all over it. So much of it takes
- 56:27me back to Genesis 1. It just, you just read
- 56:30it and you just think, we'll have to do Genesis
- 56:331 again. Yeah, absolutely. Okay, read verse 13
- 56:37again in your complete Jewish Bible. With his
- 56:40spirit, he spreads the heavens. His hand pierces
- 56:44the fleeing serpent. Interesting. So in the ESV,
- 56:47it's by his wind that the heavens were made fair.
- 56:52It's God's spirit, the wind, the spirit. Within
- 56:55the context, it's this divine breath. He's later
- 57:01going to say, Job's later going to say, with
- 57:05the breath, with this God given breath inside
- 57:07of me, he's going to say that God breathed. He'll
- 57:11say that the way that Adam received the breath
- 57:13of life. He's going to use this later. God's
- 57:15breath beautifies the heavens. I like where it
- 57:21says in the King James says, by his spirit. He
- 57:24have garnished the heavens. Yes, that's lovely.
- 57:28It's very poetic and beautifully. Imagine it,
- 57:30can't you? Garnishing. Right. The right touch
- 57:33is lovely. Yes, absolutely. The fleeing serpent.
- 57:38OK, that's when I was like, OK, what's this all
- 57:40about? All right. It's within that category that
- 57:44we're going to hear of as Leviathan. We're going
- 57:46to hear about this this character, this chaos
- 57:49serpent. OK. Now, Job's not endorsing, like,
- 57:54pagan mythology here. That's not what's going
- 57:56on. What he's really saying here, whatever this
- 57:59terrifying, chaos, serpent -like power is, God
- 58:03defeats it. What we also understand in chapter
- 58:06one and chapter two is that God rules it. He
- 58:09rules over it. God's gonna tell him this later.
- 58:12He's gonna get into it. But this serpent imagery...
- 58:15This chaos imagery, if you don't think of Genesis
- 58:173, I would be very surprised. I think of that
- 58:22seed of the woman that's going to have enmity
- 58:24against the serpent. There's always this cosmic
- 58:26struggle between the child of the woman and the
- 58:31serpent. Right? This born of woman, this man,
- 58:35the son of man with the serpent chaos figure,
- 58:38this flea. I think he's interesting that with
- 58:40his spirit, he spreads the heavens and it takes
- 58:42you to the new covenant arrangement where you've
- 58:44got the sun, the moon and the stars. And it says
- 58:47there, and he pierces, his hand pierces the fleeing
- 58:49serpent. Well, again, you know, it goes back
- 58:52to that. You will bruise him in the heel, but
- 58:53he'll crush you in the head. You know, it's sort
- 58:56of this cosmic language that's being used, but
- 58:59it's signifying. something that is actually has
- 59:03life that I'm going to destroy. I'm going to
- 59:08bring about an end to this serpent. Yes, that's
- 59:11good. That's really good. I love it. Now, read
- 59:17verse 14, and then we're going to close the study
- 59:20for the day. Listen to this. And these are but
- 59:23the fringes of his ways. How faint the echo we
- 59:27hear of him. but who is able to grasp the meaning
- 59:31of his thundering power. That's powerful. And
- 59:34I listened to it in the ESV says, behold, these
- 59:36are but the outskirts of his ways. And how small
- 59:42a whisper do we hear of him, but the thunder
- 59:46of his power, who can understand it? Okay. This
- 59:50is, this is the payoff of the entire chapter.
- 59:53Okay. After everything job's just described you've
- 59:56got she all the bad and heavens earth clouds
- 59:58moon horizon see Rahab serpent. He says that
- 1:00:01Yeah, that's only the outskirts guys. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:00:05and I love the way he says just an echo It's
- 1:00:09not the fullness it's not the death. It's just
- 1:00:14the echo. It's just the outskirts If you're not
- 1:00:18if that wasn't breathtaking you don't know what
- 1:00:20will be that I mean that's powerful, right? Yeah
- 1:00:23who is able to grasp the meaning of his thundering
- 1:00:26power. Everything we know of God's power is still
- 1:00:30only a whisper. Yeah. It's just a whisper. Do
- 1:00:33you remember when he has that moment with Elijah?
- 1:00:37You had quite a lot. Yeah, but the one about
- 1:00:39the whirlwind, but then he hears him and then
- 1:00:41he comes in a whisper. Yes. It made me think
- 1:00:44of that, right? I don't know why, but I just
- 1:00:46did. I was like, even in the faintest whisper.
- 1:00:50those things, those gigantic, powerful things
- 1:00:53you just talked about, that's the outskirts of
- 1:00:55this. Like this is, you don't understand the
- 1:00:57true power of God that you're talking about here,
- 1:01:00guys. I mean, whoa, whoa. I just, for me again,
- 1:01:06who is able to grasp the meaning of His thundering
- 1:01:08power. And I just think, you know, going back
- 1:01:10to what we're saying about, you know, about the
- 1:01:12woman and about the worm and the maggot, you
- 1:01:14know, about the son of man, you know, saying
- 1:01:17that, you know, this is only an echo in his day.
- 1:01:20but it says, who's able to grasp the meaning
- 1:01:22of his thundering power? And I think that we
- 1:01:24understand that thundering power in Christ. He
- 1:01:27is that thundering power, you know? But back
- 1:01:31here, when it was all being spoken about, these
- 1:01:33were words. These were things that they understood,
- 1:01:35that they didn't grasp the full sort of like
- 1:01:38magnitude of the whole thing. And yet today we
- 1:01:41have everything in this word, and yet how much?
- 1:01:45really, do people delve and dig into it just
- 1:01:47to see their ancestry, like I keep saying, their
- 1:01:50heritage. These people are my brothers and sisters.
- 1:01:53These are my family that I'm talking about, and
- 1:01:56this is how God has woven all these things, you
- 1:01:59know, like Alan was saying, you know, about these
- 1:02:01authors. I like to think of these ones that wrote
- 1:02:03the Bible as being secretaries because they came
- 1:02:06and went, but they were just secretaries, but
- 1:02:09the author is the boss, and it's his words that
- 1:02:12the secretary writes down. But there's still
- 1:02:14these thoughts. The boss never changes. The second
- 1:02:17you come and go. And it's the same story being
- 1:02:20written by the boss. And I just think that it's
- 1:02:22just sort of the more it's like a flower that's
- 1:02:25like that. And gradually over time, it starts
- 1:02:27to unfold until you see that the wonder of the
- 1:02:31whole focal point, the center, that moment in
- 1:02:34time that we were talking about yesterday when
- 1:02:36Christ said it is finished and gave up the ghost.
- 1:02:38That's that moment. All about that. It all came
- 1:02:41down to that. Yes. Absolutely. All right. So
- 1:02:45I'm going to ask everybody that's listening to
- 1:02:47really prepare your heart right now. I need you
- 1:02:51to prepare your heart because what you're getting
- 1:02:52ready to hear is going to be very difficult to
- 1:02:55hear and understand, but it's necessary. We've
- 1:02:58reached the place in the study where it's necessary
- 1:03:00now for me to share this. I've shared it in my
- 1:03:03testimony on the boroughs, but I'm going to share
- 1:03:05it here in the study because this is one of the
- 1:03:07things that I had to learn by being a believer
- 1:03:10in Jesus Christ and dealing with the world and
- 1:03:12it's good and evil. At the age of five, I was
- 1:03:16viciously sexually abused by a 16 year old boy.
- 1:03:20And this was over a period of months. And this
- 1:03:23was before I was a believer. This is when I was
- 1:03:25just a child in a home that didn't know God or
- 1:03:28care about God. And I, it was awful and I still
- 1:03:33remember it. I still see it. I still have those
- 1:03:37memories, those flesh patterns that came in.
- 1:03:39Okay. That actually happened to me as a five
- 1:03:41year old boy. Now, fast forward to salvation.
- 1:03:46Whenever I'm being presented with the gospel,
- 1:03:48and I'm understanding that I have things that
- 1:03:50are evil inside of me, that I have lied, that
- 1:03:52I have stolen, that I have done things against
- 1:03:55God, and I recognize that in my spirit that I've
- 1:03:57done it, and I become a believer, and then I
- 1:04:01repent, and I ask God for forgiveness, and He
- 1:04:03gives it to me. and he brings me into this covenant
- 1:04:06relationship with him. I don't know everything
- 1:04:09about him, but at that age I was 10 and I hadn't
- 1:04:11really cognitively fully developed to even understand
- 1:04:14it. And then as I began to grow and I began to
- 1:04:17read God's Word, I began to learn more and more
- 1:04:19and more. And one of the things that I used to
- 1:04:21think before I got to know God was that God didn't
- 1:04:26have anything to do or know with the evil that
- 1:04:28had happened to me. God was the good guy and
- 1:04:30the bad guy was the one that was doing it to
- 1:04:32me. So, it was a shock as I grew older and I
- 1:04:36matured to understand that nothing escapes God.
- 1:04:39Nothing escapes His sovereign power. He allows
- 1:04:42evil. He allows it. And there are purposes behind
- 1:04:46it. Now, to look at it from the eyes of a five
- 1:04:49-year -old boy, to think of me as a child going
- 1:04:53through that, you can only imagine how angry
- 1:04:55I got with God about that. That was reality for
- 1:04:58me. I was very angry. So, you knew about this?
- 1:05:01You mean to tell me that with all of your power
- 1:05:03that you could have protected me yet you didn't?
- 1:05:06See, these are the things that Job is thinking
- 1:05:08even in his own life. That's what Job's getting
- 1:05:12to. Whenever Job says, I have a right to stand
- 1:05:15before you now and plead my case because I have
- 1:05:18done nothing. Well, as a five -year -old boy,
- 1:05:21what did I do to deserve that? Do I have a right
- 1:05:25to stand before God and to ask those questions?
- 1:05:27Well, I don't have to. And the reason why I don't
- 1:05:30have to is because I have the Son of God who
- 1:05:33stands in my stead Absolutely. Now these things
- 1:05:36happen for a purpose But what I discovered is
- 1:05:39that in my relationship to God is that I loved
- 1:05:41God I love him and because of that love and because
- 1:05:45he is allowing me to understand him more. I'm
- 1:05:48beginning to understand Reality more. Yes, this
- 1:05:52is not an easy and the reality then the reality
- 1:05:55Rick is the spirit Right. That's the reality
- 1:05:58That's correct. Now, if you fast forward to today,
- 1:06:02I'm 50 years old, 45 years removed from it. And
- 1:06:05yes, I've matured and I've had plenty of counseling
- 1:06:08from secular and Christian counselors. I've had
- 1:06:11plenty of reading and understanding, but what
- 1:06:12I've come to understand is that nothing escapes
- 1:06:15God's view. Nothing escapes his power. He knew
- 1:06:18it before it happened, Rick. Long before it did.
- 1:06:21And I was angry with him for a long period of
- 1:06:23time, but I'm not anymore. I'm not anymore. But
- 1:06:27I also know that a lot of the things that I've
- 1:06:30been brought through that I've gained wisdom
- 1:06:32I've grown in it and now I'm being able to speak
- 1:06:35to others in regard to who God actually is This
- 1:06:39is the role of a priest. We have to be able to
- 1:06:42endure and understand Sometimes people don't
- 1:06:45ever go through these kinds of things and I don't
- 1:06:48know that they can actually counsel others perfectly
- 1:06:50But I think that they do a good job. They try
- 1:06:53but those who have been through it a lot of times
- 1:06:55they can relate but this is why we have a great
- 1:06:58high priest because he has suffered and so it's
- 1:07:02hard to even say well hang on i mean jesus you
- 1:07:03didn't do any at all so i mean how can you know
- 1:07:06he says i suffered i know yes it may not be the
- 1:07:10same suffering as you but i understand what suffering
- 1:07:12is i understand what pain is i understand what
- 1:07:14hurt is i understand what rejection is yes all
- 1:07:17of those things by the way Very few things are
- 1:07:20spoken about Jesus' childhood. If he was tempted
- 1:07:24in every way or he was abused in every way, we
- 1:07:26don't know what those things were in his childhood.
- 1:07:29The Bible doesn't say it, but we do know that
- 1:07:31the world was full of good and evil when he was
- 1:07:33born into it. We know that he had a purpose for
- 1:07:35it. We also know the way that his family was
- 1:07:38treated by others. We also know what he went
- 1:07:42through as a person who was perfectly innocent.
- 1:07:44We know that, right? And yet the thing is, once
- 1:07:47again, Rick, no matter what you did, you know,
- 1:07:50like you said, forgive them father, they don't
- 1:07:51know what they're doing. Yes. And that said,
- 1:07:53you know, have we in our, in our great compassion
- 1:07:57through these wicked, hideous, horrible things
- 1:07:59that we've gone through, like you have, have
- 1:08:01we understood what compassion can we actually
- 1:08:03say, forgive them Lord, because they obviously
- 1:08:06didn't know what they were doing. They knew what
- 1:08:08they were doing physically, you know, but in
- 1:08:10the grand scheme of things, they didn't get what
- 1:08:12they were doing. You know, you just pray that
- 1:08:14one day God wakes them up and they ask for forgiveness,
- 1:08:17you know, whether it's something new or for God.
- 1:08:20Like I think Alan's, like the Tracy said, when
- 1:08:23he said that he'd gone round and asked people
- 1:08:26for forgiveness, some people accepted it and
- 1:08:28some people didn't. And he said, well, I've learned
- 1:08:30to live with that. That's their choice. And I
- 1:08:32just think that that is the mark of somebody
- 1:08:34who really understands what forgiveness is because
- 1:08:36he can even forgive those that don't even forgive
- 1:08:38him. That's correct. Absolutely. Yeah. The other
- 1:08:42side of the coin here that I wanted to bring
- 1:08:44up because this is tough. I just want you guys
- 1:08:46to understand. So because I was five and because
- 1:08:49that happened to me, what happens psychologically
- 1:08:53and physiologically to a child is that it actually
- 1:08:56opens up their sexuality and it becomes for a
- 1:09:00child to then suddenly have these thoughts of
- 1:09:03this physical sexuality, lusts, things that start
- 1:09:07to appear even though you're too young to really
- 1:09:10know. It starts to have an effect on the mind
- 1:09:13and what's going on is what i've been describing
- 1:09:15is what the good and evil Effect of our flesh
- 1:09:17is the things that lust this immorality that
- 1:09:20starts to bubble up inside you That these are
- 1:09:23things that you begin to wrestle with and you
- 1:09:25don't even know where they're coming from, right?
- 1:09:27So in order to have a relationship with god,
- 1:09:30I was wondering does he even know what it's like
- 1:09:33down here? Job just said that he does Do you
- 1:09:37understand? Job says God does know that area.
- 1:09:41He does know how to get down below it because
- 1:09:44Christ actually got down below it and brought
- 1:09:45us up. But that's the point. Is it so if you
- 1:09:48hear who are listening to me, you have things
- 1:09:50internally you're struggling with and you're
- 1:09:51wondering, does God really know? And of course
- 1:09:53he does. But really think about it in regard
- 1:09:55to yourself. How much does God know? He knows
- 1:09:58it all and he loves you and he comes to you even
- 1:10:02in that space because he knows that he can be
- 1:10:04there with you Bring it out to him. Talk to him
- 1:10:07openly. Tell god the truth Tell him the truth
- 1:10:10about what you're thinking and feeling and all
- 1:10:13of these things I promise you he can handle it
- 1:10:15100 and I think sometimes that we've got to just
- 1:10:18turn around and say, you know It's hard to actually
- 1:10:20even speak the words to god, you know to act
- 1:10:23you can think it in your head But to actually
- 1:10:25turn to him said I did this lord I behave like
- 1:10:29that, Lord. I did commit those atrocities to
- 1:10:33a five -year -old child. I did sexually abuse
- 1:10:35that boy. I have looked at pornography, Lord,
- 1:10:38and I still have a problem with that. Sometimes
- 1:10:40it's shame and filth. It's a bit like that man
- 1:10:45who stood there next to the Pharisee and he couldn't
- 1:10:49even look up. He was like, oh my gosh, I cannot
- 1:10:51even bring myself to look you in the eye simply
- 1:10:55because I'm just so filthy. I'm so filthy, but
- 1:10:58the blood knows that you are and that's the point
- 1:11:00of Christ coming because I can wash you clean.
- 1:11:04I know these things. You can come to me and say
- 1:11:06these things. You can feel guilty, but I will
- 1:11:09take that guilt away because my brilliance, my
- 1:11:12pure light will wash it away from you. My blood
- 1:11:15does all of this and this is the thing and I
- 1:11:18think that's what people need to know. They need
- 1:11:20to be settled with it in themselves and admit
- 1:11:23those things to themselves because that's a hard
- 1:11:25thing. to turn around and say those things to
- 1:11:27yourself. You know the concept. That's right.
- 1:11:31But to turn around and say, I was abused when
- 1:11:34I was five and that person did that to me and
- 1:11:37face it on. It's eye to eye. And that, I think,
- 1:11:41is sometimes very hard for people to do. But
- 1:11:45do it. You may cry. You may feel shame. You may
- 1:11:49feel guilt. You may feel dirty. You may feel
- 1:11:51filthy. But at the end of the day, you know that
- 1:11:53Christ can just wash anything away from you.
- 1:11:55And he will make you pure as the driven snow,
- 1:11:58like we're talking about solar worm. Yes. You
- 1:12:00will be washed in his blood, but you will be
- 1:12:03cleaned and you will be as pure as the driven
- 1:12:04snow. These were things that happened to you.
- 1:12:07They are not you. Right. And what you are is
- 1:12:11a child of God. Yes. And you said something a
- 1:12:13minute ago. All right. So I'm going to take it
- 1:12:16a little bit deeper and then we're going to close.
- 1:12:18I'm going to leave you in this tension. I'm going
- 1:12:20to leave you in the tension with this, OK? So
- 1:12:24because that had happened to me and as I grew
- 1:12:26eventually yes God got me to the point where
- 1:12:28I could forgive this person and I did and I have
- 1:12:31I've forgiven him But I was so I was always very
- 1:12:35concerned You know that I would become like him
- 1:12:39because of all these sexual twisted things that
- 1:12:41were going on in my mind That I was struggling
- 1:12:43with. Okay, so I never Crossed that line. I never
- 1:12:48never did I never I don't have pedophilia as
- 1:12:51a problem. It's not a problem for me because
- 1:12:54I was so appalled at the behavior towards me
- 1:12:56that it kept me from it. It didn't stop me from
- 1:12:58looking at women and looking at other things
- 1:13:00in my life. Like that definitely happened. But
- 1:13:02here's my point. I was able to forgive this abuser,
- 1:13:06but then I started thinking about other people
- 1:13:08who were abusers, like you said earlier, these
- 1:13:11other people who were abusers and the shame.
- 1:13:13I always remember Jesus saying, you know, it's
- 1:13:15better than a millstone be put around the neck
- 1:13:17and somebody that offends one of these little
- 1:13:18children. Yeah, I have a tendency to agree with
- 1:13:21Jesus. Yeah, that's a that's a big one But even
- 1:13:24then those people who do that can they be forgiven
- 1:13:26and the answer is yes they can But they've got
- 1:13:30to really be honest. They've got to be completely
- 1:13:33honest They have to accept the consequences of
- 1:13:36their actions and live in it I told that woman
- 1:13:40that was confessing to me. You've got to confess
- 1:13:42this before the Lord and you've got to be responsible
- 1:13:44for your actions Exactly. And that's the thing,
- 1:13:48you know, when you look back, God forgives everything.
- 1:13:51But sadly, there are always consequences, like
- 1:13:53God forgave David. But he said from now on, trouble
- 1:13:56will not depart from your house. That's it. He
- 1:13:59had to live with those consequences. You know,
- 1:14:00we live with the consequences, but God is there
- 1:14:02even within the realms of the consequences that
- 1:14:04we got to live through. He's just a support.
- 1:14:09He's going to be compassionate and kind in those
- 1:14:11dark moments. And that's the thing. He doesn't
- 1:14:13take it all away. He supports you through it.
- 1:14:16So there's a learning process. And it's all about
- 1:14:18compassion. It's all about having this empathetic
- 1:14:21love that can reach out to people and say, I've
- 1:14:24been there. I've done that. I've experienced
- 1:14:26that. But you know what? There's a God in heaven
- 1:14:28that can really, we say these words, wash away
- 1:14:31and take away, but actually he does. The more
- 1:14:33you put it into effect, it just dissipates and
- 1:14:37disappears. It's like a mist. all of a sudden
- 1:14:39it's clear. And you think, well, where's that
- 1:14:40gone? Well, that person's dead. It doesn't exist
- 1:14:43anymore. They've gone. You know, I can remember
- 1:14:45those things happened to me in my teenage life.
- 1:14:47And I used to think, you know, when I was about
- 1:14:4934, I used to look back and I used to cry until
- 1:14:52eventually I realized what I had to do was to
- 1:14:55go back to this little girl in her, you know,
- 1:14:57early teens. And I had to go and cuddle her.
- 1:15:00And I went back to me and I said to me, do you
- 1:15:03know what, darling, you're okay. It's worked
- 1:15:06out really well, you know, you through what you've
- 1:15:09gone through, you can be a support to other people.
- 1:15:12This is an experience that you've had that's
- 1:15:14going to benefit so many people. And eventually
- 1:15:16that girl disappeared and she's now incorporated
- 1:15:20into me and she doesn't exist. This sad girl
- 1:15:22that was broken. She doesn't exist. Yeah, I did
- 1:15:27the same I did the same I had to go back to my
- 1:15:30five -year -old self and I had to tell myself
- 1:15:31I had to tell I had to go back there I had to
- 1:15:33protect him I had to go back and protect yes
- 1:15:35and show him this is where this is where you're
- 1:15:38heading. It's okay exactly close out and Yeah,
- 1:15:42that's beautiful. To close out Job 26, I'm just
- 1:15:45going to read the first few verses in the ESV
- 1:15:47of 27 to let you know where we're going. So go
- 1:15:49ahead and read 27 again, because he's opening
- 1:15:52up his discourse. I told you. Do you want me
- 1:15:54to read the whole lot? No, no, no. No, I'm just
- 1:15:56I'm going to open it up myself in the ESV. You're
- 1:15:58going to read it next week. And I want you to
- 1:16:00understand that Job's going to bring what he
- 1:16:02considers to be true wisdom in Chapter 28. So
- 1:16:04in verse in Chapter 27, verse one, he says, and
- 1:16:06Job again took up his discourse and said, as
- 1:16:09God lives, Who has taken away my right That's
- 1:16:13interesting and the almighty who has made my
- 1:16:16soul bitter. He's not letting god off the hook
- 1:16:18As long as my breath is in me and the spirit
- 1:16:21of god is in my nostrils My lips will not speak
- 1:16:25false falsehood and my tongue will not utter
- 1:16:27deceit Oh, he just did but what he just did far
- 1:16:32be it for me to say that you are Right. In other
- 1:16:38words now job Is focusing on the three friends
- 1:16:42he's answering lfas now. Whenever lfas tries
- 1:16:47to tell him you've done this. You've done he
- 1:16:51falsely accuses now is gonna try to say as long
- 1:16:54as i've got breath in my body as long as the
- 1:16:56spirit. of God is in me. I will never tell you
- 1:16:58that you're right because it's not true. I'm
- 1:17:00not going to make a false accusation even of
- 1:17:02myself just to make this better. I'm going to
- 1:17:04stand in the truth and I'm going to face you
- 1:17:06down and I'm going to bring this before God.
- 1:17:08I'm not going to stop. That's what Job's doing.
- 1:17:11Yeah, but don't you find it? I just see irony
- 1:17:14there. You know, it says, my lips will not speak
- 1:17:17unrighteousness or my tongue utter deceit. Well,
- 1:17:20actually, you said, why has God denied me justice?
- 1:17:23And who deals with me so bitterly? Well, you
- 1:17:25just have. Well, the thing is, he has. But at
- 1:17:29the same time, he has it because he hasn't gotten
- 1:17:31to the end to know it yet. Exactly. But he's
- 1:17:34spoken it, but he doesn't know it. Right. You're
- 1:17:36right. You know, it's just irony, isn't it? You
- 1:17:39know, you deny me justice. You know, it says
- 1:17:42that, you know, my lips don't say anything. I'm
- 1:17:44righteous. Well, you just did. You blamed it
- 1:17:46on God. That's right. Interesting. You know.
- 1:17:50Well, let's leave it there. It is. Let's leave
- 1:17:53it there. We ended on 27 a little bit. You see
- 1:17:55where we're heading. So guys read 27 and 28.
- 1:17:58That's as far as we're going to get if we even
- 1:17:59get through all of that next week, but we're
- 1:18:01going to go through Job's long series of these
- 1:18:04chapters or where he's doing this response before
- 1:18:06the young man Elihu burns with anger and decides
- 1:18:09to speak up. Right. And he says some really amazing
- 1:18:12things. Yeah. He's the young buck. He's younger
- 1:18:14than Zophar evidently. He comes in ready to,
- 1:18:17but, and we didn't even know he was there. So
- 1:18:18how did that happen? We'll get into that in a
- 1:18:21little bit. When did he come along? Why did this
- 1:18:24young man show up out of nowhere? How did that
- 1:18:26happen? That's a very interesting thought, isn't
- 1:18:28it? It is, yeah. All right. So let's leave that.
- 1:18:30All right. So guys, keep bringing your questions,
- 1:18:32comments. Thanks everybody for what you said
- 1:18:34so far. We really appreciate it. Thanks for being
- 1:18:36with us. Elaine, I hope you have a wonderful
- 1:18:38and marvelous day and God bless you. Thank you

- 1:18:45out there, see you next week. Yes. Y 'all come
- 1:18:49back now, you hear? Yeah. Oh, no, I do it better
- 1:18:52than you and your. Let's hear it. Let's hear
- 1:18:54it. Y 'all come back. Now you hear. I mean, it
- 1:18:58rolls off your lips like molasses. It does. It's
